Structure Of Writing An Essay
1. Structure Of Writing An Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of the "Structure of Writing an Essay" is a task that demands
a careful balance of creativity, analytical thinking, and adherence to established guidelines. The
difficulty lies not just in the technical aspects of organizing ideas and presenting arguments but
also in striking a harmonious blend of clarity and depth.
Firstly, understanding the fundamental components of an essay, such as the introduction, body,
and conclusion, is relatively straightforward. However, delving deeper into the nuances of
crafting an engaging introduction that captures the reader's attention, constructing a coherent
and well-argued body that logically progresses from point to point, and formulating a compelling
conclusion that leaves a lasting impression can be challenging.
Moreover, one must grapple with the challenge of maintaining a consistent and effective writing
style throughout the essay. Striking the right tone, choosing appropriate vocabulary, and ensuring
a smooth flow of ideas are constant considerations. Additionally, the writer must be adept at
incorporating evidence and examples to support their arguments, demonstrating a thorough
understanding of the topic.
The challenge extends to the planning phase, where decisions about the essay's structure and the
sequencing of ideas must be made. Balancing the need for a logical progression of thoughts with
the desire to maintain reader engagement can be a delicate task.
Furthermore, the difficulty intensifies when the essay prompt requires a critical analysis or a
nuanced exploration of a subject. This demands a higher level of research, comprehension, and
the ability to synthesize information effectively.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "Structure of Writing an Essay" requires a multifaceted
skill set, combining technical proficiency with creativity. Navigating the intricate terrain of
crafting an engaging introduction, developing a coherent body, and constructing a memorable
conclusion is not without its challenges. Yet, with dedication, practice, and an understanding of
the art and science of essay writing, one can master this skill.

Investigating the water potential of a potato
Aim
Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a region of high water
concentration to a low water concentration through a semi permeable membrane. Our
aim is to investigate the water potential of a potato through osmosis, by finding the
difference in weight before and after the potato has been set in a solution of water,
sugar or salt.
Trial Method
Firstly we collected the equipment. This included a scalpel, potato cutter, and test
tubes. Then we cut the potato using the potato cutter into cylinders. Then we used
the scalpel to cut each potato strip down to size. To get each strip as close as
possible the same length and width we used a ruler get correct measurements. Then

5. DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The...
Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language
in the Amazonian Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time
living among the Piraha. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay
with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language, but to convert them to
Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up his
faith for the name of science and language. His novelis a page turner, it make the
reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just
draws people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences
makes one feels like that they are with him.
Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total
of seven years learning their culture and language. What he found their really
changed the idea of how we perceive languages and the different theories behind
them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms
of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world, along with
hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally
living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect
about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the
villages. Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there
was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is
unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading.
The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one
dedicated to a certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed
on what events went on in the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and
Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally quiet at night, one is
always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day
very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild
fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they
needed for the day. It was also interesting to read that
6. Similarities Between Lady Bird And The Great Gatsby
Dreams and illusions can shape worlds of the people who have them. When reality
hits, however, one can be in awe of the world that was there all along however
never knew. F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby is a tale of dreams and lost
dreams, and thus two separate worlds as the product of this manifestation.
Generated almost a century later, the film Lady Bird directed by Greta Gerwig
proposes the same idea of two worlds dictated by the presence or absence of dreams
and reality. In the moments before Gatsby s death in The Great Gatsbyand Lady Bird
s phone call to her parents in New York City, literary and cinematic choices by
Gerwig and Fitzgerald establish the notion of self realization and ultimately the idea
of two drastically different worlds across both works of art.... Show more content on

Here, Gatsby anticipates a phone call from Daisy as he prepares to take a swim the
day after he spent the entire night waiting outside of Daisy and Tom s house. When
attempting to understand what Gatsby was thinking about at that moment, Nick
hypothesizes that Gatsby himself didn t believe it would come, and perhaps he no
longer cared. If that was true he must have felt that he had lost the old warm world,
paid a high price for living too long with a single dream (161). By clinging to a
dream that ultimately defeated him, Gatsby lost the world he once knew. A world
where his dream was still alive, where hope helped shape his illusion. He created a
reality of his own through his ideas, and thus a warmness was brought upon the
world. Now, since he comes to terms with the fact that the dream is dead, all of his
perceived realities of the world are gone. Consumed by the idea of Daisy for such a
long time, Gatsby s disillusionment is
7. The Neo-Ussherian Model Of The Flood
There is a concept in biblical exegesis known as the historical grammatical method.
This method suggests that in order to come to a complete understanding of the
biblical text, you need to understand the literary context (the actual pages of
Scripture) and the cultural context (what the author was talking about with reference
to the culture). In that sense, as our knowledge of ancient cultures expands, we can
expect our interpretation of the Bibleto change. This could mean that church history
could get it wrong because it would not know everything we do about the culture. In
addition to knowledge of the culture, scientific knowledge could make some
contributions. I am not sure why we should exclude scientific knowledge, as if it

They will typically suggest that Psalm 104:6 9 is a reference to the global flood,
not the creation event. But I am not inclined to think that. Verse 5 reads, He
establishes the earth on its foundations which is a clear reference to creation. Verse
10 (coming directly after the passage I just quoted) reads, He sends forth springs in
the valleys; They flow between the mountains. He goes on to talk about how this
fresh water feeds the animals. David also writes about vegetation and other aspects
of the creation event. For us to think that David departed from the creation event in
the middle of a creation psalm, surrounded by texts that reiterate the events of
Genesis 1 would seem like eisegesis. So, Psalm 104:6 9 really does restrict against
a global flood. Second, some Neo Ussherians suggest that if that interpretation is
correct, it would also restrict against local floods. That is a sort of reductio ad
absurdum. The problem is that the boundary is this larger landmass. David is
looking at the original creation and telling his audience that this will never again be
the state of the earth; God has set a

In the ever changing and uncertain world we live in, peace of mind comes at a
premium price. The federal government is working hard to fix the current economic
crisis. James Crowski, the Senior Counselor of the Economic Relief Advisory Sub
Committee in United States Senate, is proposing a radical shift in the way Americans
interact with money. In hopes of reforming and strengthening the American economy,
we propose to replace the primary currency of the United Statesfrom coins and paper
tender to gold infused cinder blocks. For example, a 20 dollar brickwill have 20
dollars worth of gold molten into it. After much deliberation says Crowski, we have
determined that this is the best course of action to help the American people to...

With wasteful consumer spending decreased, Americans will be able to focus
their hard earned dollars on more important items, such as flat panel LCD s and
energy efficient hybrids. Thus Americans would become less consumer culture.
Also, replacing the American currency with cinder blocks would help curb
muggings and other sorts of street violence. Many times, criminals target
individuals who appear to be carrying cash, among other things. However, since
cash will become obsolete, individuals will not be able to carry money with them,
thus eliminating a portion of street crime. Another important aspect of cinder
blocks is the ease of use and the convenient nature of them, notes Jim Louse, author
the book, I wish I knew how I Got Here: An Autobiographical Account of How I
Became an Author, a Scholar, and a Beekeeper. In his book he lays out the
practical applications of the cement blocks: First and foremost, these (cinder)
blocks can easily be stored as part of a larger structure. Imagine this; whole houses
and even neighborhoods created out of these blocks. People s houses will literally
become their money. This gives homeowners incentives to keep their houses in a
clean condition. If their house s walls are made out of these blocks, and these blocks
represent their money they have an incentive to keep the walls of their

Warriors Don t Cry is a compelling memoir that chronicles the events Melba
Pattillo faced during the desegregation of Central High School in Little Rock,
Arkansas. She was a pioneer during the civil right years. In 1957, Little Rock,
Arkansas, much like other parts of the country, was not a safe place for a black
teenage girl to live. Pattillo had a rough start in life. She was born on the day Pearl
Harbor was attacked, December 7, 1941. A few weeks after her birth she almost
died of an illness because a white nurse refused to care for her. Pattillo states that the
hardship surrounding her birth was proof that she had a special purpose in life that

The Supreme Court ruled that schools needed to integrate and provide equal

were subjected to continual harassment, name calling, bodily harm and often left
unprotected and undefended. But one thing I did not like is the lack of details in
some events and the many generalizations of events, many which were horrifying
are relatively condensed in the scope of what was happening. Despite the simplistic

Childbirth Paper There are several physical traumas that a baby and expecting
mother may endure during childbirth as well as the expecting mother may undergo
psychological traumas during and after her pregnancy. In this paper, there will be
explanations of the more severe cases the mother may exhibit during and/or after
her pregnancy. Information on treatments and recovery of such traumas will be
discussed as well as causes and some of the more common birth injuries to the baby
will be explored. Psychological Traumas Robinson, Smith, and Segal (2012)
defines emotional and psychological trauma as the result of stressful events that
shatter a person s sense of security, feeling helpless and vulnerable in a dangerous
world. A person s subjective emotional experience of the event is what determines
if the event is traumatic. Some causes to emotional and psychological trauma is 1)
happens unexpectedly, 2) unprepared, 3) powerless to prevent it, 4) happens
repeatedly, 5) someone being intentionally cruel, and 6) happened in childhood.
Some commonly overlooked causes of emotional and psychological trauma are 1)
falls or sports injuries, 2) surgeries, 3) sudden death of someone close, 4) car
accident, 5) break up of a significant relationship, 6) humiliating or deeply
disappointing experience, and 7) a discovery of a life threatening illness or disability

Such an issue stirs up moral and religious beliefs; beliefs that are contrary to what

Introduction
Laws against discrimination of any kind are implemented so that each individual is
able to have an equal opportunity at employment. In the case of Bank of America vs.
the deaf employee who wanted an interpreter to work with them, there was an
indication of discrimination towards the individual. The Americans With Disabilities
Act of 1990, was applied to prevent these types of acts to happen, and due to the
issues Bank of America had in rebellion of this act, caused the lawsuit by the U.S.

History and Background USERRA
In conjunction with the ADA of 1990, there is the Uniformed Services Employment
and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA), which protects individuals
involved in the military service. This act helps protect those who are active or
inactive, having performed as a member of the military service, to be able to keep or
get employment regardless of the service obligations. Essentially, this act was created
to protect veterans from discrimination acts from organizations and to go along with
the equal opportunity employment execution. This act is supremely important
because of the amount of dedication that is involved from a member of the military
service to give their time and put their life on the line for others citizens of this
country. To have this act in place allows those individuals to be able to have
flexibility with their careers in the event they have to leave for deployment and upon
their return as such. This is a law that shows respect and admiration for the service
members and states that they are protected in the event duty calls and they must be
called upon to help defend our country (USERRA, 2012, para. 1 6).
History and Background of Bank of America Case
Bank of America is a large and powerful corporation that apparently felt they could
override the law of the ADA.
13. Femininity And Conformity
Conceptions of idealized and appropriate feminine qualities are majorly constructed
by the dominant patriarchal discourse that judges female behaviour with reference to
gender based social norms. Incarcerated within the patriarchal disciplinary system, the
female bodily act becomes a subject of highly structured regulations whose inspecting
gaze forces it to be infantilised or penalised. Living under the custody of their
offenders, women are the target of a manipulative process that strives to condition
them, training them to believe in its established qualities of femininity. Through a
systematic surveillance of their behaviours and thoughts, the oppressive controlling
system turn women into docile bodies which are emblematic of conformity and
submissiveness. [L]argely interpellated by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

expenses are accumulated by the search for revenues, which is extremely consumed

playing in the woods, children found the body of a young teen was floating in the
Green River in King County, Washington. Sixteen year old Wendy Lee Coffield
was found strangled with her own panties and tossed into the river like a piece of
refuse. Her murder sparked an investigation that spanned three decades. Coffield s
body was the first of many found in or near the Green River in a murder spree that
remained unsolved for twenty years. The victims were young women, often
prostitutes or runaways, who hitchhiked along Highway 99, a dilapidated stretch
of the Sea Tac Highway known for its strip clubs, drugs, and seedy motels
(Montaldo). While the majority of the murders occurred between 1982 1984,
police had little success in tracking what they soon realized was a serial killer.
Within a year the police had found four more bodies of young women, and they
formed a task force to apprehend the Green River Killer. It became apparent that the
killer had chosen this stretch of highway to hunt for his victims. The women found
here lived in such ways that no one really noticed if they went missing. This proved
even more problematic for the task force, because they were searching for a killer
who had committed the murders months prior. The bodies had decomposed and it

realistically, it would take a week to two weeks for a nicely cut yard. Coincidentally,
it takes two to three weeks for the grass to grow tall enough to cut it again. Just like

we already do this but now it won t be such a burden on our ears. The lawn mower is

Because if he was, library equals innocent. It s so maddeningly simple. She s right, it
is so maddeningly simple because from the invalidated alibi, we can significantly
prove that Adnan was not at the library but instead committing the murder of Hae
Min Lee.
Although you can claim the possible invalidation of Adnan s alibi, there is
substantial and undeniable evidence from other people supplying alibi s that
proves that Adnan s alibi is not invalidated. In contrast to the possible invalidation
of Adnan s alibi, Adnan could have been at the library all afternoon as well as Hae
at the school since the state s timeline has some errors. So if we assume that Adnan
was at the public library from 2:15 3:30 and at track practice from 3:30 to about 4:30
or 5:30 like he claims in his timeline, then we know that it is impossible for him to
have killed Hae in the best buy parking lot before
21. Persuasive Tones
Tone is a very important part in writing essays, letters, articles, and even ads. There
are many different tones you can use in your writing. If you are writing an
argumentative writing then tone can either strengthen or weaken your argument.
For example these two sixth graders named Dave Kessler and Janet Chen, wrote
argumentative letters to their schools editor about ads in their schools. Dave
Kessler chose to use a persuasive tone in his letter, saying that he thinks ads in
schools should be banned. This strengthened his argument a lot because he needed
to get his point across. For example, Advertising may allow a school to get a brand
new scoreboard, books or band uniforms, but the price students pay is too great
(Kessler 1). With

Cancer mesothelioma may develop if one is always exposed to asbestos. The
malignant cells, in this type of cancer, grow in the mesothelium. The mesothelium is
a lining which is meant to offer protection by covering a majority of the body s
internal organs. Commonly, this cancer may develop in the pleura. However, it can
also develop in the pericardium, the heart, tunica vaginalis, or the peritoneum. The
external lining of the lungs as well as the internal chest wall is called the pleura. As
for the peritoneum, it is the abdominal cavity s lining. The sac which surrounds the
heart is called the pericardium while the serous which covers the testis is called the
tunica vaginalis.
The malignant cells in cancer mesothelioma will develop on the
23. The Shawl Analysis
In The Shawl , Cynthia Ozick uses vivid details throughout the story to engage the
reader. The story portrays the hard times Jews had during the Holocaust in a
concentration camp consisting of three main characters: Rosa, Stella, and Magda
who are trying to survive the horror of Nazism through a magical shawl. Rosa is the
mother of Magda, a fifteen month baby and the aunt of Stella, a fourteen year old
girl. The shawl is the only thing keeping them alive throughout the story and at the
end it leads them to their death. The author s use of symbolism is very significant to
the story. Cynthia Ozickuse of symbolism helps the reader visualize the setting by
using symbols to convey different meanings and understand how these symbols
characterize the experience of the holocaust survivors.
First, let s start off with the central symbol Ozick uses, the shawl. The shawl itself
carries various meanings to the reader and symbolizes something different to each
character. Rosa, Stella and Magda form a group on the basis of their shared
illusion concerning the magic shawl (Gordon 322). One of the first symbols the
shawl delivers is life and death. This magical shawl has nourished Magda for three
days and three nights due to Rosa not being able to produce milk for her. In the
story it says The shawl was Magda s own baby, her pet, her little sister. (Ozick 248)
which tells us that the shawl has become Magda s life. The shawl somehow seems
to feed her, protect her and keep her alive. For Magda, this shawl has become
everything: mother, food, clothing, and shelter. (Gordon 322). Even though the
shawl in some way kept Magda alive and it symbolized her life, unfortunately at the
end it became the symbol of her death. Even though the shawl did not literally wrap
her in death, the shawl that nourished her and protected her in life was the same
cloth that brought about her death says (Jones 1) Stella started getting cold and took
the shawl away from Magda which became the reason of Magda s death. She then
started howling after noticing she didn t have her shawl which made a Nazi officer
notice her existence and caused her death.
Not only does the shawl have a massive meaning in Magda s life but it also
symbolizes a
24. Themes In For Whom The Bells Tolls
We all are put to the test by having to make sacrifices like a life or death situation.
Although the majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt
others. We are put to the task, and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is
our duty to accomplish that task. In Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bells
Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to fight fascism to do his duty, take
care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide.
To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since
Robert Jordan went with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had
empathy of love towards each other. Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they
have for each other because he thinks that after the bridge is blown, they will not
see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and shows all her love towards
him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses their passion for
each other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to realize
that he and Maria are making an alliance against death through their love for each
other (6). Their love for each other designates them forget about everything, and all
they want to do is be together. The alliance against death that they have is significant
in the story. Being together assembles them to feel powerful and gives them both
hope and strength during their hard times there. This helps out both of these
characters in their own

I had my eyes on his stance which stated that the habit of procrastination is caused
by the personality of the individuals. He also mention that fear of failing the task is
the reason why we tend to procrastinate the task. I would say that I have the same
opinion with the author on this. We usually tend to work on something that we
have faith and knowledge because, it is easier for us to start and keep it on the
right track without fear of being rejected or fail. Fear of failure made us prefer to
push the task aside as we believe that we are not ready yet to get it done. Fear often
manifests itself as procrastination. Most people fear failure, criticism and rejection.
It s only normal. We all want to feel good about ourselves. Failure, criticism and
rejection are not pleasant experiences. They lower our self esteem and make us feel
bad about ourselves, so we often avoid doing things that we think might lead to
failure, criticism or rejection (B. Bilanich,
26. Persuasive Essay On Save Animals
Animals are the beginning to the best nerve wrecking filled love you could ever
dream of for your life. Ever since I was a young child, I ve always resonated with
the idea of helping animals more so than anyone and anything else in this world.
My love for animals had begun when I was a mere four years old. I ve always had
pets: dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and much more. To find out more about how
to help adoptable animals in shelters, I contacted Amanda Smasal, a community
outreach coordinator at Wayside Waifs. Wayside Waifs is no kill shelter
located in
Kansas City, Missouri which has adoptable dogs and cats, ready and willing to go
to safe, loving homes. When I first emailed Smasal asking if she would participate
in the interview, I felt overwhelming fear and began to panic about the whole
encounter. The fear of having to ask someone I had never met to talk with me is
something that scares me. Nonetheless, I sent the email asking politely yet
efficiently to see if she would give me a few of her precious minutes to answer
questions about a cause worth fighting for: animal rescue hospitals. She quickly
responded to my quaint email approximately a day later stating she would happily
answer any and all questions I have, significant or insignificant. The questions took
a couple days to figure out. The few days I had to create the questions were filled
with creativity and a tad bit of questionable ideas. The questions I asked her were the
things I would want to

Essay
One of the most important components in any type of team is communication.
Excellent communication between the team members is important to achieve the
team goals. Talking about achieving goals of the team, it is central to have shared
team goals. Also, mutual respect and trust among the team members are main
components of the teamas well. There are five identified components of a virtual
team. There differentiators commitment and engagement, shared processes for
decision making, information flow, trust, and collaboration are the most important
components of optimal virtual team performance (Derosa Lepsinger, 2010, p. 51).
Not all teams perform the same functions; however, some teams use a similar
approach to reach the goals. There are many types of teams in today s business
world and those teams have similarities in a way they approach the goals. Teams
today are more diverse and more open to the news changes compare to the teams in
the past.

Holly Janquell is a runaway. Wendelin Van Draanan creates a twelve year old
character in the story, Runaway, that is stubborn and naive enough to think she
can live out in the streets alone, until she is eighteen. She has been in five foster
homes for the past two years. She is in foster care because her mother dies of
heroin overdose. In her current foster home, she is abused, locked in the laundry
room for days without food, and gets in even more trouble if she tries to fight back.
Ms.Leone, her schoolteacher, could never understand her, and in Holly s opinion,

In conclusion, Holly rants to Ms. Leone about her current situation in life, but soon
she will become friends with her through her writing. As Holly s journey continues,
she runs into a few happy moments, and somewhere in between she stops venting
too much, and talks to Ms.Leone as some sort of companion. For example, when
she finds a school, she is all happy and excited, there is no complaint in the journal
entry. She is happy to find the school because she wants to read textbooks and learn
as much as she can. Holly does this because she is still holding onto the idea of
becoming a vet. Never in a million years would she actually say that to Ms.Leone,
but she is able to do it in the journal. Another time she talks to Ms. Leone as a friend

suddenly, it turns into a wonderful poem. She asks Ms. Leone How did that that
turn into a poem? Is that a poem? Holly asks these questions as if they will be
answered, and opens up a little more by pouring her heart out into all the poems
that she writes. She is starting to realize how much she likes poetry. To sum it up,
Holly is finally opening up, because she is soon going to start say stories about her

On the other hand, the writers might show their audience that in order to grow into
an expert a thief was not that different from a university schooled person; both had
to spend a long time to learn their art , the art of thievery and the art of literary
work. Moll conveys that to be good at stealing, the person had to spend a long time
of practicing, as well, just as the scholar who spend a lot of time reading and
studying his books. Therefore, a thief is not that different from a person of the upper
class, even though the latter probably looks down upon the rogues.
Moll continues with that comparison when she says that thieves have to study in a
book as well, when the literary rate was probably not that high in the lower class.
Yet she says to open the large book / of his close villainies (5.1.306), as if there was
a large book similar to a textbook which would contain all the secrets of stealing.
The secrets are held close to oneself, so a personal relationship is implied as well.
Close might also mean that when people are pertaining in villainies acts, the way
back into respectable society is closed to them. This does not mean only the people
whose occupation it is to steal, because together with the scholarly comparison Moll
includes upper class and learned people as well. In addition, people might be closed

Lizzie Borden took an axe... Or did she?
Hello, this is my opinion on Lizzie, although the poem says she took an axe, what
was John doing, the maid, and sister? The maid was the only person in the house

suspiciously, and the sister was out with a friend. The father was running errands.
Lizzie had an attorney and claimed Lizzie was sleeping during the murders. And if
these people did associate with Lizzie, why, they as much to gain as anyone? Did
Andrew choose ,favorites? Was Abbi a bad mother? We may never know.
My last thing to say about Lizzie, is why did she kill her parents? Lizzie had
nothing to gain by killed her parents, so why? If killing her parents did nothing she
must have had a different plan. Maybe Lizzie wanted mental comfort, or revenge on
something that may have happened when she was a child. The house was 300,000
dollars in total estate, which 8 million dollars in modern society. Due to this Lizzie

37. The Legacy Of South Korea
Have you ever visited a different country, or a city even, and been completely
bewildered? Have you had a specific image in your head of how a certain culture
lives and acts? A country can be judge and defined by its modern culture and most
tend to do just that, but its past is where its real truth lies. To fully understand and
know any country, one must travel deeper and discover its true roots.
In the majority of countries, the historical events greatly contribute to how the culture
evolved into the present day, and how its people grew through the years, into what
has become known as the society of today. South Korea is no stranger to this and they
continue to preserve its historic landmarks with pride. Although most of South Korea
s history is clouded by conflict, the struggles the people have endured have only
united them as one, and has helped shape the country into a great nation which the
citizens are proud of. The citizens of South Korea have seen their country beaten,
conquered, divided, and still refused to let out the cry of defeat and abandon their
homeland.
Having various ways to travel around the country, no other means of transportation is
as common as the train system. There are designated seats for the elderly, pregnant
women, and handicapped, but if those seats were to fill up quickly, the younger
generation is taught to give up their seat immediately and allow them to sit. Koreans
genuinely respect their elders, because they know their present day
38. Theme Of Ignorance In To Kill A Mockingbird
Hatred that is evident in society is the result of the gap between those of higher and
lower social standing. Whether it be by race or of class, bigotry and ignorance is
caused by this disconnect of culture; that it is only resisted by the ability to
empathize. This is the main idea and concept behind To Kill A Mockingbird
by Harper
Lee. It takes place in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama following the children
Scout Finch, Jem Finch, and Dill. The story is of Scout s perspective on the daily
life of Maycomb and also follows the other citizens of Maycomb. Lee shows us that
the source of this disconnect between the higher and the lower classes is not being
able to see the other person s reality and points out this flaw in many of the
characters. Amongst the many different kinds of ignorance shown is the
complacency of much of the snobbish upper class. This can be seen at the
beginning of the text where the students of the elementary school first arrive.
Walter Cunningham, a boy in the same class as Scout does not bring a lunch on
that day. Out of compassion , Miss Caroline offers Walter a quarter to spend for
lunch. Walter refuses her offer, and keeps making excuses for why he can t accept
the money, when in reality it is completely out of humility and pride. He kept on
refusing this and ... was lying his head off. He didn t forget his lunch,he didn t have

Rivers are the key aspect of civilization. The early civilizations are usually found by
rivers. The reason is these rivers give early civilizations certain gifts, or the
essentials for survival. The rivers give people silt. Silt is a very wet clay the makes
soil fertile for farming, no matter your location. In turn, the plans grown in silt give
the civilizations food and items to trade. Another, gift is fresh water. You cannot
drink salt water, or water your plants with salt water or they would die. The fresh
water allows civilizations to use irrigation systems to move the flooding of the rivers
to the plants to water them. With the fresh water, they can even clean themselves

The geography was a huge aspect of the civilizations way of life. The Indus River

the Indus River Valley could remain untouched because of its natural barrier. The
Hindu Kush Mountains surrounded the civilization to the north and the rest was

acted as a trade route for the people. Despite their communication with the outside

41. Media Violence And The Media Essay
Exposure to the media violence may be especially problematic in late adolescence.
Television and other media play a major role in adolescent socialization and identity
development by providing perspectives, values, ideologies, and behavior models
(Arnett G., Roberts D. et al.). The socializing role of televisionin particular may be
amplified by the large amount of time young people spend with this medium.
Specifically, 18 to 24 year olds spend more time watching television and movies
than younger youth (Center for Research Excellence 2009). In order to understand
the violencein media as a threat to society, an understanding of why and how violent
media cause aggressionis vital. In fact, psychological theories that explain why
media violence is such a threat are now well established. These theories also explain
why the observation of television violence stimulates aggressive behavior in the
observer.
The major concern, a substantial portion of television programs and movies contains
violence, defined as visual portrayals of acts of physical aggression by one human
against another (Huesmann, T.). In this paper, I will investigate the effects of
television on society, because it is important to know how television influences social
life. Considerably studies has been written about the effects of television. It is very
difficult to determine them, because television is a manifestation of society. Several
studies have shown that in the long run, habitual exposure to the

Looking backward is easy. How should we grow in the future? Should we build or
buy? And with the next board meeting in only 3 months, you don t have much time to
come up with the answer. Cisco started in 1984 as the plumbers of the Internet by
making the switches and routers that direct data traffic over corporate networks and
then later, the Internet. Its products weren t sexy, but every company with an
expanding network needed them. So Cisco became the ... Show more content on

Should we focus on products that businesses buy? After all, that s who we sell to
now. Or, should we take our expertise in routers and switches and focus on
consumer products? Finally, while Cisco is growing 15 percent per year, that s
down significantly from the 40 percent growth that we ve had since inception, save
for 2001. So we need to identify high growth markets and products that we could
design and build.
If we grow by purchasing technology firms with already established products or
services, should we stick to our knitting by buying firms with products and
services closely related to our existing business? Or should we diversify by buying
firms that are very different from our basic business, routers and switches? For
instance, Cisco has the opportunity to acquire a firm that specializes in technology
security (spam, viruses, malware, and other Internet threats), an area in which it
has no experience. What s more likely to work and be less risky, buying firms with
similar products or services (like Cisco s) or buying firms with different products
or services? Basically, should Cisco move beyond its core business? Finally, if we
do decide to buy firms with already established products or services, how can we
make sure those acquisitions work? Study after study shows that most mergers and
acquisitions have no better than a 50 50 shot of working. In other words, buy another
firm, try to merge its products and services and culture and
43. The Importance Of Journalism And Photography
Many events come and go before many citizens are aware of them. This is where
journalism and photography come to play. Journalism and photography allow for
current events in other parts of the world to be shown to the public for awareness.
Some of these events such as the time during the Arab Spring, where revolutions and
protests broke out across the Middle East and North Africa, allowed for citizens to
get an idea of what is going on in that particular part of the country. A world without
journalismcause much of the people to be in the shadow of the unknown. But

(Spayd) The work of journalism and photography keeps an important role of
collecting information and sharing it with others. The shared knowledge that
photographers and journalists provide allows for the public to assemble and have a
voice.
The public whom are now informed through journalism and photography are often
puzzled about the stories or photos, which causes protest events to develop. In the
film Bahrain: Shouting in the Dark through the media we can see the repressed
citizens of Bahrain wanting a change in their government. The citizens of Bahrain
assembled together protesting for a new democratic government. With journalism
reports from Al Jazeera, the world was now hearing their story. Countries around the
world heard the cries of the Bahrain citizens wanting for a change. But with the
protest, the Bahrain s government was quick to suppress the pro democratic activists.
An NPR article Bahrain: The Revolution That Wasn t Kelly McEver discussed,
Bahrain s uprising was suppressed in a harsh crackdown. Thousands of people were
rounded up, detained, and sometimes tortured...Several people died while in custody.
(McEver) Protests may lead to better outcomes, but in this instance the outcome lead
to death of many Bahrain s citizens.

pressure on government officials to listen to the public. The Schuster Institute for

45. Minimum Wage Is The Price Floor For Wages
Minimum wage is the price floor for wages, meaning that it is the lowest possible
wage per hour. The minimum wage is set so no worker will be oppressed or
underpaid, it makes people able to live. The minimum raise rises constantly so it can
keep up with the cost of life which is always increasing as well. The current
minimum wagein Arizona is 8.05$/hour.
People might think that minimum wage has no downside, but surprisingly it has,
if someone has worked in a place for years and his wage increased but if the
minimum wage increased the new hires will have a wage that is very close to the
person who spent all his years working for this place, Wal Mart s $9 minimum
wage has been in place for a little while now, and not everybody is happy about it.
Employees who have been there for years are complaining it s unfair that they now
make not much more than someone who s just been hired off the street, reports
Bloomberg News. While some low level managers have also gotten higher starting
wages, raises are small and infrequent for those at the bottom rung typically
between 3 and 5 percent per year, which comes out to a few dimes annually if you
started at $7.25 so the jump to $9 wiped out years of accumulated comparative gains
for some rank and file employees. (DePillis, Lydia) Another downside to minimum
wage is that when the minimum wage rises the unskilled workers would have less
opportunities to work since the employers won t pay that much for the unskilled and
will

The research article explains how there may be something that controls when you
go to sleep and how long you are sleeping for. Your body has an internal clock that
helps regulate when you sleep and wake up. This clock is called sleep wake
homeostasis. Homeostasis is comprised of three parts. There is a receiver that relays
incoming senses, a central system that interprets the senses, and an effector that acts
on the information relayed by the central system. The body s internal clock induces
sleep when one is awake for too long, so this experiment is specifically designed to
find the method the body takes to induce sleep. The experiment in this article uses
flies as the test subject to examine which controller controls sleepiness and how long

50. Techniques Used For Classify The Models Of Church
Planting
Techniques used to categorize the models of church planting Things that lay
influence on various models used in planting of churches include: one is
denominational ecclesiology, two is if a mission agency or church is carrying out the
actual planting, three is the planting body ethos, four is the spiritual and theological
planting body outlook, five being the direct correlation of factors to the context which
includes a community/area sociological understanding of where the church is to be
planted and six is the planting team size. The terminology employed in describing the
different planting models are divergent and a lot of terms are gotten from the
obstetrics or horticulture world, but others are derived from the military, nautical and
astronomical worlds (Murray, Laying Foundations, 260). Christine groups planting
models in terms of the body performing the sponsoring say the agency, church or any
other body (Robinson and Christine, Planting tomorrow s Churches Today, 126).
Murray defines four historical church planting categories: one is the replacement
planting where it is conducted in places where the church is being closed, two is the
pioneer planting which is done in places where there are no Christian witnesses, three
is the saturation planting that mainly concerns with ensuring that each group of
people that is identifiable has unlimited church access which has relevance on a
contextual basis, and the fourth and last one is the sectarian planting that ensures an
51. Housing Policies By Max Page And Ellen Pader
Housing codes in this country shape the way we live. They tell us everything from
what is considered to be a bedroom, to how many people can live in one dwelling.
Max Page and Ellen Pader looked at two different examples of the way the US s
housing policies have had a major impact on our society. Page examined the tearing
down of the slums in New York City. The governmentclaimed that the buildings were
old and unsafe, and thus needed to be demolished. Pader looked at eviction of ethnic
groups, particularly Latinos, from their homes in Chicago. The rational for the
evictions was that there were too many people occupying one space. This was
unhealthy, and thus whole families lost their homes. In both instances, the
government in mandating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other cultures, such as Latin America, the norms of spatial arrangement are
much different. People routinely sleep in kitchens, hallways and whole families
share houses. However these policies were attempting to Americanize the
immigrants, and rid them of their heritage. The codes also put a burden on the
lower class citizens. By defining what a bedroom was, and how many people can
sleep there, the government was telling people what size properties they needed to
buy for their families. For the immigrants, who generally lived all together as a
family, it meant that they were less able to afford good housing. (Pader 883)
Families were routinely shunted to the streets for violations of the codes. However
the government saw these steps as necessary. They were attempting to infuse
American values and norms onto the immigrants. Two people per room is deemed
reasonable and justifiable in our culture. It is engrained in our brains that this is just
the way things are. However this spatial arrangement was derived from the lives of
upper class Englishmen. (Pader 888) They came about when the immigrants who
originally colonized this country, set the norms of the society. When new immigrants
came over who were seen as inferior, those living here attempted Americanize them
in their image. In the hopes to change their mentality and previous perception of
norms. The other main code imposed on the people in Chicago was a people per
space ratio.

program execution can resume and its execution starts with the followed piece. This

William Wordsworth was a British poet, credited with ushering in the English
Romantic Movement with the publication of Lyrical Ballad in collaboration with
Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The Biographical Perspective of William Wordsworth
can be presented multiply ways such as childhood experience, education, marriage,
friendship, travels, career, and publication. Childhood experience for William was
not particularly a happy one. His mom passed on when he was eight not having the
best relationship with her. His dad filled in as an attorney to the Earl of Lowther, a
famously degenerate man who had earned the neighborhood description as wicked
Jimmy. When John Wordsworth passed on in 1783, leaving thirteen year old William

point went ahead to make a portion of the best English verse of his
