Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
When a word or a phrase is repeated over and over again, it tends to become stronger in meaning and
it sticks in the subconscious. Welsh writer and poet Dylan Thomas was born in 1914 and died in 1953.
He wrote numerous works throughout his lifetime and exclusively wrote in the English language. One
such work was titled Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. In the poem, the narrator of an
unknown gender urges the reader to not give up on life and to passionately fight to keep living. The
main literary device Thomas uses is repetition, and he uses this tool with certain phrases to give
emphasis and to make the meaning of his words stronger.
Titles are important, and the multiple use of this poem s title emphasizes the meaning behind the
poem. For example, in almost every stanza, the phrase do not go gentle into that good night (659) is
used. These words are passionately used to plead to the reader not to give up so easily on life. The
poet is talking to readers of who have thoughts of hopelessness in life and cannot find meaning to their
existence. Symbolically, the use of the word night is the end of the ... Show more content on

Such as, repetition in poetry is a powerful device to create a deep emphasis and emotional effect on a
meaning. Rage, rage against the dying of the light produces an emotional appeal of passion toward the
readers about fighting for life. Do not go gentle into that good night is the title, but also repeated
multiple times in the poem to put a deep emphasis on fighting to live against the inevitable death.
Every day, people hear and see repetition all around as commercials repeat sales and slogans to
intensify what they re saying and to burn them into our brains (Wilson). In this poem, the repetition of
phrases burn into the memory of the readers and help the reader understand the deeper elements of the

Land Rights in Australia Essay
This essay is about the land rights of of Australia and how Eddie Marbo was not happy about his land
been taken away from him. In May 1982 Eddie Marbo and four other people of the Murray Islands
began to take action in the high court of Australia and confirming their land rights. Eddie Marbo was a
torres islander who thought that the Australian laws were wrong and who went to fight and try and
change them. He was born in 1936 on Mer which is known as Murray Island. The British Crown in
the form of the colony of Queensland became of the sovereign of the islands when they were annexed
in1978. They claimed continued enjoyment of there land rights and that had not been validly

Marbo did not just give up on this and he kept on trying to get his land rights and get other rights for
indigenous people of Australia.
There was a lot of significant things that happened in the Marbo decision. Marbo changed a lot of the
rights for the Australian indigenous people. He got the land rights and human rights back for them. It
still wasn t easer for Mabo to win his rights though because they wanted to mine his land and make
money out of it. In the year 1993 Federal Pavement had passed the Native Title act which had
established legal framework for the native claims through out the country. Unfortunately Eddie Marbo
was not around to see his victory. He had died of cancer and he was fifty five years old. It was just
before the high courts decision. There were two of the five Murray Island plaintiffs were alive by the
time when the ruling was handed down. The third anniversary was held at Eddies grave. Eddie Marbo
s body went back to the Murray Islands were he lived most of his life.
(Patrick Hatch,2013)
When the decision went through the indigenous people had there rights they could stand on. They
could have there own rights to have there land and have there rights to live and have the right
treatment in this world. It was not fair how the governments also ripped the children away from there
families as well. The Marbo decision was a very significant and a very important moment in

The Benefits Of Choosing The Electronic Health Record System
Choosing to adopt the electronic health record (EHR) system requires planning and gaining
knowledge about vendors in order to make an evidence based decision before the selection and
implementation process (Gleason, November/December 2014). It can eliminate the use of unnecessary
technology and services that have created risk management and quality issues. With the EHR
adoption, it can bring challenges and opportunities to existing processes by reducing costs and
improving the efficiency for healthcare organizations like Bethany Place in order to inhere in

What Is The Theme Of The Movie Girlhood
Girlhood Movie Review Life displays many petrifying inevitable circumstances to things that
humanity must live by. A main significant theme in Girlhood is coming of age, and I believe that
growing up is one of those petrifying inevitable issues that life leaves us to face by ourselves.
Marieme, the protagonist played by Karidja Touré, eventually finds herself going through several
difficulties in a rough environment. Unconfident about her choices in life, Marieme struggles
constantly until she discovers her inner strengths. French screenwriter, and film director, Céline
Sciamma, introduces the coming of age theme by screening different stylistic choices Marieme goes

Many parts of the film were confusing unless you took the time to pause and think about the concepts
of certain scenes, as many were needed to re watch it to fully understand. The movie being French had
nothing to do with my confusion in fact, I think that the movie being French is what allowed me to
give it a half more than my original rate. Although I found the message of the film to be a bit foggy, I
have to admit that it has a very magnificent message when you follow up with it. Losing yourself is a
very difficult situation to deal with, especially if at the moment you allow your heart to believe that
the people you re standing by now are the people that can satisfy your social happiness. Marieme
learning from her faults is an excellent example of how we should keep our fighting spirits up and
never give up on anything or anyone we love. The harsh truth is; sometimes that person we forget to
cut some slack, and or to love through all their faults is ourselves. Once we learn to overcome that, the
wonders of the world will be inevitable to occur

The Influence of Saturday Night Live
On August 29th, 2008 Senator John McCain announced his decision of electing Sarah Palin as his
Vice Presidential Candidate. This declaration provoked controversy amongst many of the United
States citizens and while the majority of the people supported McCain, there were still a select few of
both the republican and democratic parties that were bewildered by his decision. They view Sarah
Palin as ignorant and someone who could not play any significant part in running the United States
government, and their scrutiny of her soon reached the public via television. Although entwined with
humor, the Saturday Night Live vice Presidential debate clip is an example of the doubts society has

Many Americans come home from an exhausting day at work and want to take a break from it all and
they may prefer to watch something that will make them laugh rather than make them think. Although
these spoofs on the election have truth to them, when something is turned into humor it attracts more
people and these negative characteristics of the candidates are more top of mind.
As today s population continues to grow, each day the number of potential voters grows with it. The
number of young voters is considered one of today s most important topics of society. Having the
ability to swing the decision of the young, newly registering voters could make or break a shot at the
presidency of the United States. There are countless organizations and associations devoted to raising
the number of young registered voters. With this negative comedic attitude towards Governor Palin
the way these Americans votes are swayed could have a great impact on the election, especially
considering the many adults and young adults that are tuning into Saturday Night Live. Many of the

Mr. Keating Carpe Diem In Death Poet s Society
Most men live lives of quiet desperation describes the boys at the start of the movie Death Poets
Society. However, Mr. Keating s saying, Carpe Diem, influenced the path the boys took throughout
the movie. Most of the boys took this advice to heart, leading them to change, while others decided to
ignore the teachings. Throughout the movie, Todd gather courage which helped him change from a
shy antisocial boy to an open and expressive one. This is evident through the fact that Todd revealed
the truth to Mr. Keating in front of authority that could get him expelled. This implies that Todd grew
to believe that Mr. Keating was a friend that he could open up to. Otherwise, he would have never
revealed what happened when he was signing the paper. Also, earlier in the movies, Mr. Keating
forced Todd to recite a beautiful poem he composed himself. This shows Todd that his words do
matter to the people around him, and that he does not have to hide them. It also foreshadows that he is
bound to change later in the movie. Mr. Keating s advice was able to push Todd to become more open
and expressive. Neil gradually became more rebellious and lost confidence due to influences from his

Warren G. Harding
Daniel Butchen Essay # 8 The 1920 s were a time of prosperity in our country. War was over,
businesses were booming, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. This was especially true
for president Warren G. Harding. He was a man that enjoyed women, poker, and drinking during a
time when alcohol was supposed to be illegal. More controversial was his use of liquor. Throughout
his adult life Harding drank and saw nothing wrong in it. He was never personally committed to
Prohibition, even though he had voted for it and, like many Americans, pretended the law did not
apply to him. He was careful to serve liquor only in his private rooms in the White House and would
sometimes take visitors there for that purpose. It was later claimed ... Show more content on

This was known as the Teapot Dome Scandal . Fall was found guilty in court and was even sentenced
to jail time. While this wasn t directly Harding s fault, it dealt a huge blow to his reputation. This was
Harding s biggest mistake; the people he hired. Still, Harding did manage to do some damage to his
own reputation with his actions. After Harding passed away a women named Nan Britton had come
out publicly saying Harding had an affair with her, and had fathered her child. While it was swept
under the rug successfully during his years in office, it was pretty well known that this was true. While
Harding is mostly known for his scandals and inactivity, he did accomplish some things in office. He
had kept a very successful watch over the budget and government spending. He had fought for civil
rights and had gone into America s most racist city, Birmingham, Alabama, and delivered a key civil
rights speech. However, his successes are overmatched by his scandals, and in 1923, 3 years after
being elected, Harding had been through enough physically and mentally, and died while in office. He
was succeeded by his vice president, Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge had a very different personality than
Harding. Coolidge was a rather cold person. He spoke in a high pitched, squeaky voice and spoke as
little as possible. He had a dry sense of humor and was

The Blood Of Blood And Blood
The ABO blood types play an integral role in conducting blood transfusions. Blood is a complex,
living tissue that contains many cell types and proteins (green). The average adult body is comprised
of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a
specific function. Almost half of the blood volume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and
other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. White
blood cells, which are used to fight infections, and platelets, which form blood clots to prevent blood
loss only make up about 1% of the total blood volume. The rest of the blood, about 55%, is plasma,
the fluid that carries the blood cells, along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red
blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood
cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens
determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a
person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type
AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is
actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the
population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all
Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood
(red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that
the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to
external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the
combination determines his blood type. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive.
Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he
will have type B blood. If, on the other hand,

El Nino, La Nina and Hurricanes
How does the change in climate affect the frequency and the path of those powerful hurricanes and
tropical storms in the tropical Pacific and Atlantic Oceans? Global warming has a profound vast
impact on the Earth. Besides landmasses, ocean is warmed unevenly. Additionally, unexpected
changes in ocean current will aggregate the uneven distribution of water temperatures along the globe.

The opposite holds too also. Recent El Nino occurred in 1983 84, 1987, 1991 94, 1997 98, and 2004.
Recent La Nina occurred in 1989 90, 1999 2001 (NOAA). From the Southern Oscillation Chart, we
can see that El Nino and La Nina is occurring more frequently and having a greater intensity.
Theoretically, El Nino will suppress growth, while La Nina will promote the growth of hurricanes. We
will examine whether the theory holds too by looking at the archive hurricane paths.
In 1997 and 2004, there were 29 33 tropical systems in the Pacific Ocean. Most of them curve to the
north and six of them hit Japan, while the Philippines was being hit only once in 1997. This year,
Japan was hit eight times while the Philippines were only hit once. There were less hurricanes, and
they tended to curve north in El Nino year. In Atlantic, there were 8 hurricanes formed in 1997. None
moved west to hit Texas or Mexico. In 2004, there were 13 hurricanes and 3 hit Florida. All
Hurricanes made the curve to the north during El Nino. None hit the West Gulf Coast (Unisys).
In 1999 2001, the La Nina years, there were 16 18 tropical systems formed in the Atlantic. Two to five
tropical systems hit the Western Gulf Coast. In the Pacific, there were more than 33 tropical systems
formed each year, while 5 8 tropical storms hit the Philippines. There were less systems hitting Japan
during El Nino years (Unisys).

The reason for this being that the more agricultural products the county provides to export, the more
profit that the country can make. With this being the case these farmers will purchase these lands.
After a purchase is made the farmer then in turn can do as pleases. Farmers then destroy all trees upon
the land in an effort to provide ideal cultivation areas to produce large cash crop products. Although
they will use this land for generating food products, the main concern lies within the fact that soil in
which they will be using is extremely low in nutrients. This meaning that every 2 to 3 years of usage
the farmer will then be forced to expunge the used land followed by the obtaining of new lands. This
in turn becomes a continual cycle where the farmers become parasites of the land, where day by day
they will suck every ounce of life from the land until it is dry.
Ranching is another cause for destruction of rainforests. Ranchers obtain land in the same method as
farmers do, but however, they are not forced to move from land to land as the farmers do. Ranchers
clear large areas of rainforest to become pastures for their cattle. This land does not cost them very
much and often more then not the ranchers are able to collect this land for free, enabling them to sell
cattle at relatively low prices. Cattle ranching for beef exports are perhaps one of

The Assassination Of Boris Nemtsov
It is said that people fear what they don t understand. The unknown has always inspired anxiety in us
as a species. Feelings such as that are to be expected, even healthy, to have. If we had no fear, it is
quite unlikely that humans would have survived until now. Self preservation is paramount to survival;
yet, in the era in which we live it is often used against us. Fearmongering is a device used by
advertisers, media, and politicians. Governments such as Russia s use so called politics of fear
(emphasis added) as a weapon to maintain control over their people by repressing or removing their

Critical Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
The Beat Generation is a literary movement during the 1950s that consisted of male authors including
the widely known Allen Ginsberg, who explored American culture in their poems. The Beat
Generation could be described as misogynistic and patriarchal due to their exclusion of women and
concerns confined to only male outcasts. In Allen Ginsberg s 1956 Howl , he brings his audience s
attention to male outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl , Amy
Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated culture through the
allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza form, and utilizing diction to convey a
woman s perspective antithetically to Allen Ginsberg s original.
In Amy Newman s Howl , she alludes to Sylvia Plath, an American female poet, who is acknowledged
for her hardships as a outcasted female in the poetry world due to her oppressive marriage. Newman
illustrates Plath as, [a] star spangled lost in her housebound Eden curse with orchards and a million
gossipy daffodils, writing and nursing and not on the lists... (Newman). In Allen Ginsberg s original
Howl he adverts to male poets he admires of his time, opposingly Newman emulates Ginsberg s
technique and alludes to a feminist iconic poet Sylvia Plath. Newman implements a biblical allusion
referencing The Garden of Eden to depict Plath as a successful female poet who was metaphorically
locked in her household; where a woman s place

Achieving The Same Mission At The Kimberly Clark Andean...
Originally set up as a top down environment, the Kimberly Clark Andean Region struggled with
getting everyone within the organization focused on achieving the same mission. Wanting to expand
their reach and market share, Sergio Nacach realized that he needed to find a way to connect the
employees to the company. Prior to his arrival, the company philosophy was that, the solution was
always to come from better products and better advertising... Decisions were top down and the senior
positions had all the power (Clark, 3). Having management hold all the power, allowed the employees
to believe there impact didn t matter. As Nacach became more involved within the organization, the
company began to move their focus away from a strictly top down model into one where individuals
were more involved in the decisions that they often times knew more about than the top level
management. Instead of only having the leaders of the organization be the big individuals in the
company, KC established that any person in charge of even or or three people was a leader....
developed a plan to motivate those who were moving the wheels of the organization (Clark, 10).
While not at the level of being completely focused on People s Proposition, the steps that Kimberly
Clark is taking is pushing the company in that direction. Kimberly Clark recognized that what is best
for their company success is giving their employees an opportunity to become more invested in the

Oppression Of The United States
In this course we learned about many different types of oppression, from the time America was first
discovered and the discoverers began oppressing the Indians, to slavery, to the oppression of the
mentally handicapped, all the way to more modern times in schools were students are being
oppressed. When the Europeans and Spaniards first discovered North America all was well. The
Indians at first were truly intrigued with the white man as the brought all sorts of new stuff to trade.
Matter a fact the first set of settlers would not been able to survive without the help of the Indians.
Unfortunately, the settlers had very little respect for the land and resources. The Europeans then
starting using violence to get what they wanted and as the number of settlers increased the Indians
new that they were in over their heads. With all the new settlers came diseases such as small pox and
measles. These diseases hurt the Indian tribes severely, and with the ignorance the settler s wars
began; the Indian Wars, the Indian Removal Act, Wounded knee, and the trail of tears are only a few
of the many. The U.S. Government took it upon themselves to start relocation programs, with these
programs the Indians were ripped from their homes, required to speak only the language of the settlers
and robbed of their customs. The children of the tribes were taken away and sent to special schools to
Americanize them and forget about their heritage. Then in the late 1800 s the government started

Benjamin West first displayed his work of art in 1784 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in
conjunction with three different works that he had planned to paint. The artist used oil on canvas as his
final medium and the painting measures twenty three by fifty inches. It is signed within the lower right
corner B. West 1796 and is now displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Historians don t seem to be

The style that West used is described best through his choice of colors that are very warm, and thus, in
all probability influenced other painters who were part of the Romantic era of the Nineteenth Century.
What is distinctive regarding this specific painting is that it merges art with recreation. The theme is
deep as a result of the many things that are happening within the background and the foreground. As
an example, there are bodies with garments ripped of from the battle and a fallen horse at the front
center of the painting; however, the background also contains many winged demons and murderers
who ride in from some distant place.
As for the forms within the painting, they are realistic, and never flat. The horses are spherical and
appear to be very strong; the lion s claws are immense and tear blood from the flesh of the person the
lion attacks. The forms are well accomplished and reinforce the drama of the scene, which the artist
meant to depict. All of the shapes are meant to be full to provide weight and seriousness to the piece.
None of the forms are lightweight or ethereal, even the clouds are giant and full. Most of the figures
have significant shadowing and strips of highlight to deepen the distinction between the dark and
lightweight colors.
With reference to the lines within the painting, every figure within the painting, including all of the
ghosts that float in from heaven, are well carved. The lines are harsh

Representations are not merely objective truth, but encompass conscious selectivity and emphasis
which shape and define the meaning we derive from a text. The importance of the Smithsonian s
Bearing Witness to History site as both a historical and American representation causes a divergence
in its purpose, between its obligation for factual accuracy and intrinsic support of specific cultural
values. Deepa Mehta s film Earth (1996) demonstrates the manipulation of texts to shape the meaning
we derive from the past, influenced by our memory of the past, distorted by personal context. Despite

Vinson Syn A Christian Scholar And Dean Emeritus
Vinson Synan is a Christian scholar and Dean Emeritus at Regent University in Virginia Beach. In this
work, he describes the most remarkable historical events that shaped the Pentecostalism in America
and worldwide. Synan points out specific characteristics that clarifies the origins of the Pentecostal
church in America. His main purpose is to present a historical analysis of the Pentecostalism and its
roots. According to him, the reader needs to be aware of the Pentecostal traditions developed during
the twentieth century in order to understand Pentecostalism as a major Christian tradition. The
problem is that traditional Christians do not consider Pentecostalism as significant as should be. Synan

occurred in Los Angeles at the beginning of the twentieth century. According to him the Azusa Street
Revival in 1906 was fundamental for the expansion of Pentecostalism in America and Europe. In
chapters six and seven, Synan explains the expansion and the influence of the Pentecostal churches in
the south of the United States and in the world. According to him, during that time period, the

The Misfit Meaning
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , written by Flannery O Connor in 1953, you will find
that there are many different aspects and themes introduced into the story such as; mischief, self
conception, grace, and the true meaning of a good man. This story is used to show how people view
others, and about how finding a good man is hard to do which hints the title. Although this story doesn
t have a happy ending, I believe that the intentions and meanings behind this story are very important
in the end. First of all, O Connor uses the theme of mischief because the criminal s name is The Misfit
and the story progresses to show how much trouble the misfit has actually gotten himself into. I
believe the reason why O Connor used the name misfit to describe the criminal is because he wanted
to portray how people judge and view others based on what they think they know. The Misfit does not
always have to describe a bad man but is also does not have to represent a good man either. That is
why O Connor used mischief in this story. Next, self conception is introduced into the story because

someone or sharing things with them. Or it could also mean sparing someone s life or killing them off
because you can t leave any traces behind. It isn t easy to find a good man anymore these days because

The Day the Music Began
Legendary composer Leonard Bernstein once said, This will be our reply to violence: to make music
more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before (Leonard Bernstein Quotes). This
statement describes the exact response of musicians to the assassination of the young American
President, John F. Kennedy. Toward the end of his third year of presidency, Kennedy was shot and
killed in a parade in Dallas, Texas. Americans were shocked to have lost such a promising young
leader, and a somber silence swept across the nation as Americans lamented his death; this silence,
however, was broken by the melancholy music of mourning (Baldacci). The assassination of President
John F. Kennedy started a new movement of music that was inspired by the tragedy and differed in
structure from previous music.
November 22, 1963, the day President Kennedy was assassinated, is occasionally referred to as the
day the music stopped , but in reality the music had just begun (Baldacci). Approximately 2,500
people were attending a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert when they heard the news of their leader
s passing. After many gasps the audience stood in hushed reverence for their fallen president, and the
musicians began to perform a movement from Beethoven s 3rd Symphony: a funeral march (Inverne).
This moment is now one of the most famous events in the history of classical music; it is a moment
that launched a new era of music.
The tragedy of Kennedy s assassination inspired a

Ethical Considerations For A Crisis Management Plan
In order for a crisis management plan to be carried out, a crisis management team will be needed to
help the person dealing with a crisis situation. A crisis management team is a team of people that have
the knowledge and skills on how to respond and deal with a crisis situation. The crisis management
team may compromise of individuals such as teachers, social workers, police officers, nurses,
paramedics, psychologists, and school principals. School counselors should also be considered apart

Also, another ethical consideration for school counselors would be if the student is a danger to
themselves or another student, then it s important to disclose that information along with getting their
parents involved. The legal considerations that must be applied when responding to a student crisis is
that school counselors have a duty to protect students when they re going through a crisis. Going back
to the crisis of a student being a danger to another student, school counselors have the legal duty to
protect that other student as well as reporting to the authorities (Kanel, 2015). It s important that
school counselors know how to collaborate before, during, and after a crisis. Before a crisis, the
school counselor can collaborate with teachers and other school staff members by training them and
coming up with ways on how to help students during a crisis situation. During a crisis, the school
counselor will show other staff members how to comfort students during their time of need in the
crisis situation. After a crisis, the school counselor will help staff members by showing them how to
help students recover from a crisis as well as providing them resources if they need any more
additional help. The way that collaboration assist in a crisis response is that school counselors and
staff members come together to work as a team help students heal through a crisis situation (Kelley,
2015). As for a post crisis response, School counselors and staff members must prepare to come up
with a plan along with intervention strategies and resources in order to help students recover
successfully from a crisis situation. There are many techniques for school counselors to take into
consideration that would be helpful for students who experience a traumatic event such as cognitive

The Niger Delta Region
The Niger Delta Region of Nigeria produces a significant portion of the combined oil wealth of
Nigeria. Since 1956 when oil was first struck in Oloibiri in Southern Nigeria, the Niger Delta region
has accounted for over 90 per cent of Nigeria s oil income; however, the region has continually
suffered from environmental neglect, disintegrating infrastructures, high rate of unemployment, social
deprivation, abject poverty and widespread conflict. There have been incessant calls for the multi
national corporations( MNCs ) operating in the area to demonstrate the value of their investments to
Nigeria by undertaking increased corporate social responsibility( CSR ) initiatives that provide for
environmental friendly practices as well as direct social benefits such as local employment, new
infrastructure, schools and improved health care delivery. In addition, the Nigerian regulatory
measures enforcing the adoption of codes and conduct of CSR policies by these companies, their
reporting practices and interaction with leading CSR institutions have either been non existent or
inadequately formulated and have therefore failed the entire population. The existing legal frame work
needs to be reformulated into one which is fit for purpose. The is a dire need for an effective,
independent management and enforcement of the host state s regulatory exercise to alleviate the
current perilous state of the region in particular and the country in general.

Quality of Living, for the purposes Mercer s survey, analysis, and city rankings, differs from quality of

In today s society, the rush of supply and demand runs the ever living world that many people call

The Internet has also changed the way students learn. Online classes are more readily available
compared to several years ago. By means of online classes more adult students pursuing higher
education are able to make that dream become a reality. Students attending online classes offer
different viewpoints with fellow students and are able to communicate without feeling that a correct
answer needs to be given.
Of course the Internet brings lots of competition among retailers, which affects the supply conditions
within an industry. Companies overseas are able to place their products on the net, which in return
expands their market, and therefore sell to a larger area this causes force of lower prices and creates a
greater incentive for sellers to set apart their products or services.
The article emphasized on how changes in information technology can influence supply conditions in
the market with the following example, Encyclopedia Britannica. Encyclopedia Britannica at one
point was a very expensive set of research books that parents would purchase to help their child s
education, however now with the internet available with many free online encyclopedias, Britannica
has had to market their product other ways. They now have a CD ROM available, which contains
things such as video clips, audio clips, and pictures. This new Britannica format is less expensive as
the books.
The Internet offers so many different things to many different people.

Robert Thurman, a Tibetan Buddhist monk, and Karen Ho share their ideas on different topics in each

his form of wisdom means that they are selfless, or willing to change themselves for the better or
when the time comes. In Biographies of Hegemony , Ho writes about the type of society that Wall
Street has created and how they continue to keep the same type of people in their elite group. However
different the passages are, when thought about together they are applied to one another. The wisdom

salvation when it comes to curing major, life threatening illnesses. Even a humble root vegetable like
horseradish mainly used as a condiment is now being studied for it s many health benefits. Now, for

More than just heat and flavor
Powerful and pungent horseradish is well known for adding heat to dishes. But this plant is also
connected to a wide variety of health benefits, including its ability to aid weight loss, lower blood

heart health, stimulate healthy digestion and most notably, horseradish can prevent cancer due to its
extremely high levels of glucosinolates. A recent study published in the Journal of Agriculture and

Access To Justice
With the demise of the apartheid in 1994 and the implementation of the Constitution in 1996, it
brought with it the concept of access to justice for all citizens of South Africa. The notion itself has
developed and evolved beyond the preconceived idea of access to courts but encompasses one s access
to legal and state services, social, economic and environmental justice as well.
Although Section 34 of the Constitution provides that anyone with a dispute may seek justice by
bringing the dispute to court with Section 35, from which Legal Aid South Africa derived its mandate,
enforcing that those arrested, detained or accused has the right to a fair trial which includes the right to

There is little to argue about when suggesting that the Baroque period of art and architecture during
the 1600 s was characterized by a positive, vigorous, and passionate style (Gerdes 253), enveloped in
lavish splendor, glorifying the imagery of highborn aristocrats, religion, and homoeroticism. The
theatrical, grandiose, and ornate style was heavily influenced by Christianity, life, love, symbolism,
allegory, and morbidity. The artist Michelangel Merisi da Caravaggio a leading artist during this
period used a combination of religious scenes in everyday locales filled with rough looking common
people (Kleiner 549) along with the intensity of the dramatic Baroque passion for richness in color
and texture. One of Caravaggio s most famous pieces of art was the Entombment of Christ, and David
with the Head of Goliath, for which he painted his own head as the victim, with blood drips from his
freshly severed neck, sparing nobody the gory facts of decapitation (Harris 49). The disturbed genius
was also interested in the fresco painting of the Renaissance and this is perhaps what enticed
Caravaggio to paint the Creation of Adam on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The history of the
Baroque period cannot be discussed further without mentioning the Dutch artist Rembrandt
Harmenszoon van Rijn, whose Baroque paintings rose to universal significance and appeal (Gerdes

Theme Across Genre

happened to many individuals that may or may not have cost them their lives. Fictional stories have a
more emotional impact on readers, and they develop feelings for the characters. On the other hand,
non fictional stories are more factual, and are more real than they are personal. In the story, Titanic, by

Similarities Between The Necklace And The Gift Of The Magi
Money is great to have but, it could lead to great sorrow. As this was shown in The Necklace and The
Gift of The Magi . In The Necklace Mme. Losiel wanted to look rich for her evening ball but, she lost
the necklace she borrowed because she lost the necklace she had to work for ten years to pay the
necklace off. In The Gift of The Magi Delia cut her hair so she had enough money to get her husband
a nice chain for his watch but, he sold his watch to get her a nice set of combs. Money does not buy

lost it she lived in a life of great work for ten years. Delia and her husband ended up putting their gifts

The Necklace shows that money does not buy happiness. As Guy De Maupassant stated, He threw

shabbiness clashed with the stylishness of her evening clothes. She felt this and longed to escape

`` The Birthmark `` By Nathanial Hawthorne
Nathanial Hawthorne writes a compelling story about a recently married scientist whose wife has a
blemish on her cheek. The Birthmark written in 1843 is a critique of domesticity, feminine sexuality,
and perfectionism. Cindy Weinstein takes the stance that The Birthmark is a critique of feminine
sexuality. Weinstein suggests, A key reason, then, that Aylmer wants to erase the birthmark is that it
signifies a sexuality with which he is deeply uncomfortable (123). This argument is seen throughout
Hawthorne s story, but Weinstein s argument can be taken a step further to deal with the root cause,
control. Aylmer is disturbed with Georgiana s birthmark due to the fact that it signifies her sexual
desires that he is unable to control.
Aylmer realizes that Georgiana s birthmark is troubling soon after their marriage and intercourse
together. Not a single man in Georgiana s previous relationships has had a problem with her
birthmark, but now that she has had sexual intercourse, Aylmer cannot stop having thoughts about her
birthmark. Hawthorne writes, After his marriage, for he thought little or nothing of the matter before,
Aylmer discovered that this was the case with himself (1). After their intercourse together, Aylmer
unlocks her suppressed feminine sexuality. When he begins to realize she also has the desires, he is
uncomfortable because it defies the culture belief that women do not have these perverse thoughts. As

This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial
reporting, company communications with shareholders, and the responsibilities of company heads.
The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It additionally
requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of the business s
staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the impression of the
company s procedures on the surrounding area. The Company Law Review Group was established by
the government in 1998 in order to contemplate ways to modernize company law. The Company Law
Review guidelines were the starting point for the modifications suggested by the Company Law
Reform White Paper released in 2005. Then the White Paper proposals turned into an outline for a
Bill, which then finally received official approval and passed in 2006, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014).
Some of the main effects of the Companies Act on private companies are: an individual and simplified
model of Articles of Association; individual requirements for accounting and reporting; no
requirement for a company secretary; no requirement for an annual meeting; and simplified rules
about share capital, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). The key benefits of the Companies Act for
shareholders

Operation Management Essay
Introduction The management of resources which produces and delivers products and services is
operation management. The part of an organization that is responsible for this activity is the operation
function. And the people responsible for managing some or all of the resources which makes up the
operations function are known as operation managers. It is worth noting that in some organization the
operations manager might be called by other name (Morton 1999). In this work I have selected the
private sector services, quality issues, roles of an operation manager and operation performance using
the Co operative foods. Part 1 For the first part, I have selected the private sector services which will

there enough sitting areas (chair and tables) for customers to site and complete the form. This should
be taken into consideration during the feedback section and continuous improvement of the Process
should be made. Control quality against standards An operation needs to perform checks in order to
ensure that the product or services are up to the standards that are put in place. This can also be known
as inspection which are activities for measuring, testing the characteristic of the services provided by
the bank to ensure that they are in conformity with standards. The operation manager needs to ensure
that things are done right all the time (Caplen 1990). This process involves three decisions see
appendix 2 A bank will check that there is enough application form at the service counter to avoid
delays, also the customer s details should be checked to ensure that the application form is filled out
correctly and that the customer provided the required identification to open an account (at the start or
end of the process). It may seem more logical to check every single product or services stage but it
might also be costly and time consuming. From the process map above, the identification of the
customer will be checked and a credit check needs to be carried out before the account is opened.
However, there are two different methods commonly

The Colonists Did NOT Have Adequate Cause for the American...
Were the Colonists Justified in Their Rebellion against England? Yes Did the Colonists Have an
Adequate Cause for Revolution? No
Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly
violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the
Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s
revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the Stamp Act (1765),
the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Townshend Acts also infuriated the Americans, and
as in all other circumstances, they were willing to fight for their rights. The final justification for the ...

The Americans surely refused when asked, by the parliament to revoke the circular letter passed by the
Massachusetts assembly. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts, were
one more justification for their rebellion.
The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were known
as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts
government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed
troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their
rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights.
All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are not
valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the
passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The
Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with the
Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the Britsh
paid over the same goods.
Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. However they did not have
an adequate cause for revolution.

Nike s Marketing Practises With Puma
This essay begins by discussing the competition between Nike and one of its rivals. This essay will
focus on Puma as they are Nike s rival. Moreover, it will analyse and discuss Nike s marketing
practises with Puma; these two companies will be compared and will be supported by examples and
references that will be shown throughout the essay.
To begin with, Nike is the world s largest sports brand while Puma is currently the third largest sports
company after Adidas in the sports industry. (Heydt, 2013). Nike s brand value is continuously
increasing each year. (Interbrand, 2013). According to Interbrand (2013), Nike carries on with
endorsing famous sports athletes including, Rafael Nadal and Lebron James. Nike s shoe products are

(Chris, 2014). Puma and Nike have organised their marketing programs in a very good and successful
way, through all parts of integrated marketing communications, these two brands have also
strengthened their brand image through contracts with athletes and sponsorships as well as
partnerships with groups and players of international repute in football, golf and other well known
sports and sponsoring mega global occasions. (Nazir et al., 2013).
Understanding customers is the way to provide for them great service; it is important for every
company to understand its customers, including Puma and Nike, to be able to give their customers
good service. To give good customer care, businesses must deliver what they have promised.
However, great customer care includes getting to know the customers well that organisations can
anticipate their customers needs and surpass their desires and expectations. (Donut, 2014).
Mahadevan (2014) stated that, The better the business can manage the relationships it has with its
customers, the more successful it will become this shows that organisations today need to understand
its customers in order to succeed.
Nike and Puma are both focusing on their customers and are strongly committed to marketing. (Wood,
2013). These sports organisations share a thorough dedication to understanding and fulfilling the
needs of their customers in clearly defined target

Welsh writer and poet Dylan Thomas was born in 1914 and died in 1953. He wrote numerous works throughout his lifetime and exclusively wrote in the English language. One such work was titled Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. In the poem, the narrator of an unknown gender urges the reader to not give up on life and to passionately fight to keep living. The main literary device Thomas uses is repetition, and he uses this tool with certain phrases to give emphasis and to make the meaning of his words stronger. Titles are important, and the multiple use of this poem s title emphasizes the meaning behind the poem. For example, in almost every stanza, the phrase do not go gentle into that good night (659) is used. These words are passionately used to plead to the reader not to give up so easily on life. The poet is talking to readers of who have thoughts of hopelessness in life and cannot find meaning to their existence. Symbolically, the use of the word night is the end of the ... The average adult body is comprised of more than five liters of blood (purple). Blood basically consists of four components, each with a specific function. Almost half of the blood volume is red blood cells, which transport oxygen and other nutrients to the organs and tissues, as well as remove carbon dioxide and other wastes. He explained that the reactions of mixing different blood are as a result of these antigens on the red blood cells. The ABO blood group classifies two types of antigens found on the surface of red blood cells in the body: type A and type B. The presence or absence of either of the two types of antigens determines a person s blood type. A person with only A antigens will have type A blood, while a person with only B antigens will have type B blood. A person with A and B antigens will have type AB blood, whereas a person with neither A nor B antigens will have type O blood. Type O blood is actually most frequent in the United States, accounting for 45% of the population. About 40% of the population s blood type is classified as Type A, while close to 11% is Type B. Only 4% of all Americans have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red cells, in other words type AB blood (red). In 1910, research studies conducted by Ludwik Hirszfeld and Emil von Dungernin proved that the ABO blood groups are inherited. The gene is found on chromosome 9 and will not alter due to external influences (blue). A child inherits one allele for an antigen from each parent and the combination determines his blood type. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive. Therefore, if a child, for example, receives a B gene from one parent and an O gene from the other, he will have type B blood. The Beat Generation could be described as misogynistic and patriarchal due to their exclusion of women and concerns confined to only male outcasts. In Allen Ginsberg s 1956 Howl , he brings his audience s attention to male outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl , Amy Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated culture through the allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza form, and utilizing diction to convey a woman s perspective antithetically to Allen Ginsberg s original. The Misfit Meaning In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , written by Flannery O Connor in 1953, you will find that there are many different aspects and themes introduced into the story such as; mischief, self conception, grace, and the true meaning of a good man. This story is used to show how people view others, and about how finding a good man is hard to do which hints the title. Although this story doesn t have a happy ending, I believe that the intentions and meanings behind this story are very important in the end. First of all, O Connor uses the theme of mischief because the criminal s name is The Misfit and the story progresses to show how much trouble the misfit has actually gotten himself into. I believe the reason why O Connor used the name misfit to describe the criminal is because he wanted to portray how people judge and view others based on what they think they know. The Misfit does not always have to describe a bad man but is also does not have to represent a good man either. That is why O Connor used mischief in this story. • 24. The Day the Music Began Legendary composer Leonard Bernstein once said, This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before (Leonard Bernstein Quotes). This statement describes the exact response of musicians to the assassination of the young American President, John F. Kennedy. Toward the end of his third year of presidency, Kennedy was shot and killed in a parade in Dallas, Texas. Americans were shocked to have lost such a promising young leader, and a somber silence swept across the nation as Americans lamented his death; this silence, however, was broken by the melancholy music of mourning (Baldacci). The assassination of President John F. Kennedy started a new movement of music that was inspired by the tragedy and differed in structure from previous music. November 22, 1963, the day President Kennedy was assassinated, is occasionally referred to as the day the music stopped , but in reality the music had just begun (Baldacci). Approximately 2,500 people were attending a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert when they heard the news of their leader s passing. After many gasps the audience stood in hushed reverence for their fallen president, and the musicians began to perform a movement from Beethoven s 3rd Symphony: a funeral march (Inverne). This moment is now one of the most famous events in the history of classical music; it is a moment that launched a new era of music. The tragedy of Kennedy s assassination inspired a ... The legal considerations that must be applied when responding to a student crisis is that school counselors have a duty to protect students when they re going through a crisis. Going back to the crisis of a student being a danger to another student, school counselors have the legal duty to protect that other student as well as reporting to the authorities (Kanel, 2015). It s important that school counselors know how to collaborate before, during, and after a crisis. Before a crisis, the school counselor can collaborate with teachers and other school staff members by training them and coming up with ways on how to help students during a crisis situation. During a crisis, the school counselor will show other staff members how to comfort students during their time of need in the crisis situation. The theatrical, grandiose, and ornate style was heavily influenced by Christianity, life, love, symbolism, allegory, and morbidity.
