Dog Whistling Is A Term Used By Politicians
Dog Whistle Politics is a term used by politicians to persuade the people by gaining their votes
into a political position of power. Dog Whistling has been used for years by politicians to
achieve what they want while campaigning for public offices. Politicians have been
maneuvering and scheming for years during elections for the peoples vote. They have always
put on a show for the people just to receive their vote. They set their sights on an office of public
position and they begin a long and hard working race to gain votes. Dog whistling is just a
different way for them to use codes or demonstrate to certain people to what they are really
trying to say. Politicians portray a good and upright demeanor. It s part of their job. During their
campaign for a specific position, they make promises to the people, they put time into well
thought out and written speeches, they research every city and the population during the
campaign tour and it is all to persuade the vast majority of people for their vote. It deals with
race as well. Dog Whistling and racism seem to go hand in hand because it s dealing with race.
Racism has been in politics for years. Dog Whistling is just a word used to speak to a certain
group of people in code. Racism is still imbedded in us as people because we cannot treat each
other equal. Some politicians use Dog Whistling as a way to speak to the mass of racism that is
still current in today s society. The author in this book uses Dog Whistle Politics

King Lear Destruction
The oldest hath borne most; we that are young / Shall never see so much nor live so long , what
Edgar, and the remaining survivors, have seen is one of the most impressive tragedies ever written
(5.3.331 32). King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, has a deluge of dramatic irony, conflict,
and death, making it one of the most tragic plays ever written. Such plentiful amount of tragedy
leaves many scholars to ask, What is the cause for such destruction of lives? The paramount cause
for the massive tragedy in King Learis the human nature s tendency to, in thought of self interest,
react hastily with angeror sorrow. After examination of characters motives and actions the self
interests of power, revenge, and protection are all what lead... Show more content on

The reason for this is because it is in people s nature, and certainly in the character s, to react
rashly in either feelings of hatred or vengeance and great grief or sorrow. Said nature can be seen
and applied to Edmund s and Goneril s and Regan s fight for power, Edmund s and Goneril s
vengeance for fair treatment and love, and most tragically Gloucester s, Cordelia s, and Lear s
reaction to the safety and forgiveness. When looking toward all of the events, Edgar cannot be

Sarah Elshater s The Problem Of The Essential Indexical
Indexicals are important distinguishers of context within sentences. They are expressions that
can be uttered by multiple speakers, and have a different meaning or implication each time it is
spoken. For me to say I am Sarah Elshater has one meaning, for my older brother to say I am
Sarah Elshater has a completely separate meaning and would likely cause concern within my
family should he say such a thing. In The Problem of the Essential Indexical by John Perry, the
notion of locating beliefs is mentioned as an essential part of indexicals, as indexicals allow the
speaker s beliefto be expressed. On page 5, Perry writes I shall use the term locating beliefs to refer
to one s beliefs about where one is, when it is, and who one is (Perry, The Problem of the Essential
Indexical).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I have countless documented proof that I am, in fact, Sarah Elshater, my utterance of the
sentence simply means that I know my name, and I am declaring my knowledge. For my brother to
say that sentence, he could have a sarcastic or mocking tone, which could indicate that he is
joking. Or, he could be genuine with his declaration, where he actually believes he is Sarah
Elshater, in which case we would take him to the hospital to have his brain checked out. When it
comes to indexicals, content is key to deciphering context, and without content, it can become
difficult to understand a person s intent. In this paper, I will outline Perry s problem of the
essential indexical, as well as outline his solution for this problem. In doing this, I will also make
arguments for Perry s arguments about the essential

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wet Candy
Wet Caramel
Sugar + enough water to moisten the sugar.
Start Heating the Pan (115 120oC)
Use a wet pastry brush to eliminate sugar crystals
As the amber brown colour appears turn the heat to medium
Add any other ingredient s if required.
Start string the mixture
Once final required colour is attained stop cooking and Pour in moulds
CARAMEL AND CRYSTALLIZATION
When a wet caramel is made, first we make a sugar syrup which is sugar dissolved in water. The
water evaporates as heating process continue to make caramel, the syrup becomes super
saturated, which means that it holds more sugar molecules than the normal capacity of water.
Due to this, the sugar tries to re crystallize. If this happens, final product ends up with a pan full
of clear rock candy. In order to avoid this, we have to make sure pan is spotlessly clean. Sugar
molecules have jagged edges and can easily stick to each other or to the impurities from the pan. A
tool is required to stir caramel, which may contain impurities leading to crystallization, some
people also say that stirring in itself (after the sugar has dissolved) can cause the sugar syrup to
crystallize, as stirring encourages the sugar molecules to clump together. So instead, swirling the
pan is another option

As the sugar and water boil, sugar syrup might fall on the wall of the pot, where it evaporates
very fast and thus forming back into sugar crystals. Even if one of these crystals falls back into
the syrup, it can cause a chain reaction, which turns the clear syrup opaque and grainy. This can
be avoided by removing it from the heat, adding a few tablespoons of water, returning it to the
heat, and stirring until the crystals dissolve before continuing on However, it s better to keep
recrystallization from occurring in the first place, so there are a few ways to prevent

Psycho, By Alfred Hitchcock
We all go a little mad sometimes, and that could possibly be exactly how many feel after
watching Psycho, released in 1960, and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock took a different
route in terms of plot and structure for the typical Hollywood style. Psycho, like a young child
never stops asking questions, it leaves us in a state of doubt and unbelief. It is classic horror,
with the numerous jump scares leaving us at the edge of our seat, as every moment passes. Yet in
the beginning, it s seems to portray a rather classic form in a sense, a near Aristotelian story. A
woman who appears to be the main character in love, who is then faced with a problem, not enough
money to marry her love, who then steals money to help build a future... Show more content on

Let s get this clear about the only certainty that was in Psycho, was the first couple seconds of the
movie when it displayed the location and the date. Everything else known to be true later on ended
in a twist. For example, take the cover of Psycho, at first glance many may assume that Marian
Crane, the woman on the cover, is ultimately the main character, the protagonist, the hero. If the
cover didn t help out the opening scene was revealed two characters a man (Sam) and a woman
(Marian) who appear to be in love. We have identified the main character Marian and we have
identified the problem or goal a protagonist must achieve in a movie, obtain money so Marian
and Sam can get married. Then we see Marian at work, where a rude, self pleasing, arrogant, rich
man enters bargaining about himself and his daughter s wedding. Marian is then presented with a
task deliver the money to the bank. Hitchcock has successfully set the bait and hooked the
audience into backing Marian in any decision. She s doing it for love right, and the jerk has plenty
of money anyway. After watching the entire movie I began to realize the true brilliance of Alfred
Hitchcock, because, of course everyone loves a hero good, let s kill her 40 minutes into the movie
and this is where things became interesting the structure of the film. Doubt begins to creep into the
minds of the

PURPOSE The purpose of this experiment is to become familiar with the separation of mixtures of
solid and learn separation techniques based on the chemical properties of a substance.
PROCEDURES
1.Separating out the Iron
a.Use your digital scale to determine the mass of your weighing dish.
b.Empty the entire mixture of solids from the plastic bag into the weighing dish and determine the
gross mass of the total mixture and weighing dish. Compute the net mass of the mixture: this is
equal to the gross mass of the weighing dish with the mixture less the mass of just the weighing
dish determined in 1 A.
c.Spread the mixture into a very thin layer over a full sized piece of paper.
d.Cut a second piece of paper into a 10 cm square. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stereotypes In Finding Forrester
As a human, no one really likes to be the victim of stereotyped. No one wants to be looked at get
judged because the different of their skin color, culture, religion or by the choice of their outfit.
Finding Forrester is a great drama movie based on significantly of different racial situation. In
the movie there are two main characters, William Forrester an author who isolated himself from
the world, and Jamal Wallace a black teenage boy from the Bronx. They become great friends
despite generation gap through their passion for reading and writing. Jamal Wallace is used as a
stereotype of the typical black boy in the Bronx who attends low level school and has more
interest in the court as a basketball player rather in his text books. No one thought of him capable
of doing anything other than playing basketball, and he uses that fact to hide his intelligence

We can tell that Forrester is a white middle class man, someone who has isolated himself from
society for ten years. He would rather handle his problems behind closed doors rather than
confront them face to face. For example, when Jamal faces prejudice from his English professor,
who assumes that he uses a title from another author s writing without permission, and demands
Jamal to write a letter of apology and read it in front of the class, Jamal refused because he feels
he did nothing wrong. Forrester told him to just write the letter and get it over with. Unlike
Forrester, Jamal adores going outside, interacting with his friends from school and going to
basketball games. Another difference between the Jamal and Forrester is the former s competitive
attitude. For instance, when harassed by another student from school on the basketball court, he
handled the problem in his own way. That proves his abilities to others and earns him respect from
his coach and other

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) also known as Remotely Piloted Vehicle (RPV) which can
operate without human operator, plays important role in both civilian and military purposes.
[3][8]Weather reconnaissance, search and rescue assisting operations in sea and mountains,
aerial photographing and mapping, fire detection and traffic control are examples of usage
fields. [1] Path Planning, crucial phase for navigation process, is about to determining optimal or
near optimal path between destinations with fulfilling constraints such as hostile threats. [2]
Depending on the degree of difficulty of the task, operations such as path planning should be
fulfilled without human support. [1] The autonomy of such use is advantageous in situations
that require quick decisions. And success of path planning heavily relies on selected algorithm.
[4] Measure of success can be categorized into two sections: feasibility which considers to safely
moving objects to target and optimality which is about to finding optimal solution. When a task
difficult to accomplish by a single UAV or it is cheaper, easier or faster than there may be a need
would arise to use multiple UAVs to fulfill task [8]. To solve some problems multiple UAVs path
planning may be came into as a constraint. [8] Search and rescue operations are examples of
multiple UAVs usage areas. There are different types of path planning architectures. It can be
centralized or distributed. In centralized systems; a universal path planer

something that narrowed down possible interest and helped the participants open their mind to
new careers. In fact when I finished my test I was able to view the different careers that feel in
my interest category. Taking a survey and calculating the different likes each field had
accumulated determined my test outcome. After gathering the likes that had accumulated I was
able to determine which inventory category was strongest. My top inventory was conventional
which states, I am one who likes to follow set rules and procedures, and prefers detail and clear
lines of authority (Self Assessment, n.d.). My second strongest inventory category was Social,
which states, I like work activities that promote learning and development (Self Assessment,
n.d.). Not only did I learn what my strongest inventory was I also had the ability to learn which
jobs fell under those categories. Out of each category within the level 5 education requirement, I
had one job that stood out over the others; category one conventional had Math Professor. This
job is something that would be interesting, but I am not sure if I would want this job as a career.
The social category had one job that also caught my eye, health educator. After all the research and
looking at each one of the categories and the possible job opportunities I have come to the

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is a Middle Eastern conservative country with age old
traditions and belief systems that are derived from the Arab culture. The country has a prevailing
monarchy that is rich in Arab and Islamic heritage and a characteristic homogeneity in culture
(Anon, n.d). It occupies most of the Arabian Peninsula and it shares boundaries with Jordan, Kuwait,
Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the Red Sea (Wikipedia). The introduction and
acceptance of Islam as a major religion is seen to be a driving force in its conservatory approach.

According to his model, Hofstede classed KSA on a scale of about 80 on the power distance index

uncertainty avoidance index. Conflict and competition is usually avoided (Mead and Andrews,
2009). The slow paced introduction of westernization into the culture reveals how the society is
resistant to change, the thought of which places undue anxiety and stress on the members of its
community. The attachment to family ties is a manifestation of its collectivistic approach in the
culture of the Saudis. The social identity is derived from a group membership he/she shares.
Loyalty to one s family members supersedes that of the individual; family involvement in personal
life is usually not seen as being invasive or interfering (Anon, 2008). Hofstede scores the Saudis as
having about 40 on the individualistic dimension (Mead and Andrews, 2009). Since this dimension
expresses independence, a low score would mean a higher tendency towards collectivism. Even
though the culture of the Saudis emphasizes hierarchy and autocracy, their mode of conflict
resolution is compromise. The Saudi Arabians believe in relationship building and on solidarity
(Anon, 2008), and thus characteristic of the feministic cultures. However, a masculinity feature is
also observed amongst its members of the society. Sex roles are not equally distributed as it is

Why Is Czar Nicholas The Great Emancipator In Animal Farm
The Czar family has been dead for almost 100 years. Nicholas and his whole family were
assassinated due to him not being well admired per say. Also, the Czar didn t have any previous
experience or training before he received his throne. Much like Czar Nicholas II, Mr. Jones was
also the leader of some things and had many similar battles and problems. Mr. Jones is the farmer
in the book Animal Farm, which was a representation of Czar Nicholas II.
Nicholas II was born on May 6, 1868 in Pashikin, Russia. His father is Alexander III, whom he
inherited his throne from, but Nicholas II was not ready. He was crowned on May 26,1894, after
his father s death, without having any experience or training to help him rule. There was discontent
in Russia as food became scarce, soldiers became war weary, and devastating defects demonstrated
the Czar s ineffectual leadership (Czar Nicholas II abdicates). In addition, Nicholas faulty actions
during the Bloody Sunday and WW1 all of Russia indicted him for their squander. Furthermore, the
citizens began to rampage and cause commotion that Nicholas had no alternative but to relinquish
his spot on the monarchy. March 1917, the army Garrison at Petrograd joined striking workers in

Jones and Czar Nicholas II were portrayed by George Orwell very well in my opinion. Orwell
used Nicholas II to base his character Mr. Jones in an understandable, simple, modernized way. It
was very easy to connect the dots and draw comparisons. The two of them, Nicholas II and Mr.
Jones, had many similar problems and actions that were in each other s life. Some differences
were there, but not many. Mr. Jones in the book Animal Farm did not die like Nicholas. They Both
lived in a bed of roses, but surprisingly, they still had work needed to be done. Be that as it may,
they failed in doing their necessary duties which cause an uprising in their responsibilities.
Consequently, both the men were over the throne and put to

Summary Of Bilingual Childhood By Richard Rodriguez
Approximately 37 million people speak both English and Spanish in the United States and have
experienced a feeling of discrimination or rejection. Richard Rodriguez s memoir called Aria: A
Memoir Of A Bilingual Childhood demonstrates this with a personal experience. This memoir was
taken from the book Hunger Of Memory which was originally published in 1982 . The events in
this memoir occur specifically in the 1900s, when the author was a young boy, entering an
American schoolfor the first time. One of the main issues displayed in his memoir is when
Rodriguez recalls being labeled as a problem student being a Hispanic American student in an all
white school. Another issue displayed in this memoir is the difficulties he had had to learn
English meantime he felt more comfortable with Spanish. Being discriminated and not being able
to adapt to two different languages is a struggle more than half of the world deals with. This is
truly a serious issue because this could potentially be the origin of socially feeling uncomfortable.
The purpose of this memoir was to tell the reader that individuality can come from both one s
private and public communities, but that does not mean that one loses himself. The audience
attracted to this memoir are foreigners in America. This memoir is directed to immigrants and other
foreign people who have experienced the same difficulty of learning a new public language in
America. Rodriguez wrote in his memoir about the struggles he

The Business Internet. The Internet Is Constantly Developing.
The Business Internet
The Internet is constantly developing. From four computers back in the early 70 s to an
uncountable number today, the Internet has extreme power and has changed the world. In recent
years, Internet growth has been expanding more rapidly than the government can understand. The
laws and regulations of a month ago are no longer useful today. The government either has to move
quicker in deciding outcomes pertaining to the Internet or has to give up control entirely. Businesses
are making large technological advances that involve the Internet and are being held up by
government decisions. Commercialization of the Internet brings in new technologies that are
essential to growth.

military and the ARPAnet, however, did not agree with what type of protocol to use. Instead of
them sitting down and figuring out which protocol to use, the military forced ARPAnet to change

All of these developments in the field of computing continued to grow. As the Personal Computer
was born, regular old people started to find the Internet useful to them. Online services such as
America Online, Prodigy, and CompuServe started to control Internet services to the home user

In order to meet these needs, different types of Internet services were born. Some services,
called Bulletin Board Services, are not directly connected to the Internet. These servers are just
local computers in the area that just require a phone call in order to be used. Ways to use
Bulletin Board Services are endless as long as the software on the server supports it. Typically
they are just used to transfer small files and to use Internet e mail while the user is not directly
connected. Generally, these are free services, but the better ones can

Domesticated Animals In The Elizabethan Era
Ever since humans began to domesticate animals, their lives have altered drastically. Daily life and
activities became easier with the use of the trained animals and the relationship between humans
and other animals grew into something more than just to beings coexisting with one another. Today,
domesticated animals became beloved family members of humans who adopted them and they live
peacefully. Some train their pets for sport and entertainment and others just keep their pets for
company. In the Elizabethan era, daily life was fairly similar. Animals such as horses and dogs
proved to be quite significant in the 16th century. They assisted humans, brought joy to humans

In a hunt such as this, their prey was wild boar. The hunters and their dogs would chase the prey to
exhaustion and at that point, go in for the kill. This target was rather dangerous, but nonetheless, the
sport was enjoyed. The other form of hunting, Bow and Stable hunting, was considered less
strenuous and both men and women participated in the activity. The main weapons used was a
bow and arrow or a spear. Riding on horseback, the huntsmen and huntswomen accompanied by
several dogs, would drive their prey into and enclosed area. Then, the hunters killed the prey in
close range.
The dogs and horses participating in these activities prove to be very critical in the procedure of
chasing, capturing, and killing the prey. They are even acknowledged by the people of this time
for their vigorous work. To show their appreciation, the dogs are rewarded with a few chunks of
meat.
In each hunt, there are a variety of different dog breeds that are used in the hunt. Before the hunt
is planned, a huntsman and his lymer, go out in the morning to search for tracks of the prey or
fewments (droppings), to predict where the prey may be scavenging and living. Common breeds
of lymers include Bloodhounds and St Hubert s. Other types of dogs used are sight hounds or
otherwise known as gazehounds. As the name suggest, these dogs are prized and adored for their
acute vision and immense speed. Breeds such as Greyhounds and

Tone Of One Perfect Rose
At first glance the poem One Perfect Rose may seem like a poem about love and romance, but
further analysis shows the opposite. The first two stanzas of the poem can be misleading, as they
lead one to believe that it s a romantic moment to a past memory. However, with the poems sudden
change in tone, the third stanza takes on more of a cynical view. You hear the dissatisfaction in the
speaker s tone, as she wants more. The title conveys irony, as it shows that the roseis anything but
perfect. In a way the poem seems to describe Parkers feelings about life, even though she had a lot
going for her she just wasn t satisfied. Because of the shift in tone, the poems entire meaning goes
from sweet to a bitter recount. The first opening line of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She wants more than a rose, when she states. Why is it no one ever sent me yet one perfect
limousine do you suppose? The word limousine implies that she maybe materialistic. Upon this,
as the reader, one has to understand the context in which the poem was written in. It was written
in 1937 when the Great Depression occurred. Because Parker faced many financial uncertainties,
all she really wanted was to be sure she was financially stable. The phrase one perfect rose is
repeated throughout stanza 1 and stanza 2, thus making it a refrain. On the other hand, the
mocking repetition of one perfect indicates the underlining attitude of the speaker in the last
stanza. Suddenly the phrase one perfect rose becomes disrupted when the speaker desires one
perfect limousine. Moreover, the tone suddenly changes when she states, do you suppose? . The
question is implied to the reader as the poem takes on more of a conversational tone. The poem
suddenly takes on more of a sarcastic tone, as a lot of Dorothy Parkers poem are really known for.
They are known for their witty remarks and irony. Line 11 and 12 states, Ah no, it s always just my
luck to get one perfect rose. The fact that she states ah no signifies disappointment, but it also
becomes more conversational instead of formal. In line 11 the word, just my luck actually means
that something unfortunate

Ancient Mesopotamia
Mesopotamia is a Greek word meaning, Land between the Rivers . The Ancient Sumerians
worshipped many different gods and goddesses. They thought that the gods influenced much of
what happened to them in their lives. Babylonian and Assyrian s religious was heavily
influenced by the Sumerians. The Mesopotamians always thought of the importance of god in
their life, as each city had it own god. And at every center of the city, there is a temple to
represent that god. Some of the Sumerian gods and goddesses included: Enki and Anu. The god
Ea or Enki as it named by summerians is one of the most powerful gods in the Mesopotamian.

Affects of European Law on English Law
Question 1:
The European law has affects the current English law by stating which particular bodies of rules
needed to be taken into consideration. And the commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations
1993 whose passed principles which modified the traditional common law agency rules has also
produced an entirely new and commercially important form of agency.
Courts may use the instrument s preamble or the Directives explanatory notes in order to define the
aim of the European Directives.
Termination of the agent s authority is prospective and not retrospective. Both principal and agent
is able to sue each other on claims which accumulated prior termination. Such example where agent
could be sued for negligent performance of his obligation due to agent s illness.
Thus, if agency is contractual, the contract could only be terminable on a reasonable notice to
prevent a breach of contract by principal.
The relationship between Principal and Agent is stated in common law where agent is in a fiduciary
relationship with the Principal. Agency is the relationship arising where one person, the principal
(P), appoints another, the agent (A) to bring about, modify or terminate legal relations between the
principal and a third party (T)
The type of agent in this case is sales agent where the sales figure is observed from time to time by
the principal.
In this question, it is concerning the commercial agents which defined under the Regulation

The Foundation And Provision Of Nursing
The foundation and provision of nursing care is guided by key values of nursing and definitions of
nursing. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN] (2008) highlights five values
that represent the core of nursing practice. These values include altruism, autonomy, human dignity,
integrity, and social justice. This essay will focus on my top three values of altruism, human
dignity, and autonomy, how these values are currently represented in my life, and how these values
led to my own unique philosophy and definition of nursing. Altruism The University of Wisconsin
Oshkosh College of Nursing (n.d.) describes altruism as an unselfish concern for the welfare of
others (Values section, para 1). The AACN (2008) describes how... Show more content on

Human dignity goes along with my expression of altruism in my life. I express human dignity
very similar to the way I express altruism, but I express this value further in my work. One main
way I express this is through the provision of modesty and privacy in all ways possible while
caring for patients. It is as simple as using least exposing methods and being respectful and
professional when providing care. I also respect human dignity by giving my patients the power of
choice and respecting the wishes that they express. I believe this is important because the hospital
environment leaves people vulnerable to have their dignity ignored. Nursing researchers
Papastavrou, Efstathiou, and Andreou (2017) describe this problem by stating threats to health
were considered more important than those to dignity and the older people endured threats to
dignity in favour of treating the health problem (p. 94). With this in mind, I work particularly hard
to find ways to uphold human dignity always in my work and throughout my life. Autonomy
Autonomy simply means the right to self determination, but it is a key part of nursing care
(University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing, n.d., Values section, para 2). This is
demonstrated through a study by Rao, Kumar, and McHugh (2017) which found that hospitals with

To Give or Not to Give in The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
In his early childhood, a boy spends his time playing with his favorite tree, climbing its trunk,
and swinging from its branches. As the boy approaches adolescence, he desires money and the
tree yields its apples for him to sell. At adulthood, he yearns for a home and the tree offers its
branches for the man to build his home. At middle age, he asks the tree for a boat and the tree
offers its trunk, which the man cuts to build his boat. During his final years, the old man asks the
tree for a quiet place to sit and rest, and the tree offers its stump.
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is a simple story but one that poignantly illustrates the complex
philosophical discussion concerning the act of giving and taking. The inimitable ... Show more

So how do we begin the journey of giving wisely? We suggest that clients begin with self
discernment.
Why do you wish to give?
What values or principles do you and your family hold dear? What are some of the ideas, persons,
or events that molded you?
To whom do you want to give, and why? What impact would you want your giving to have on
others? What do you expect to gain from your family giving?
How much time and personal involvement do you want to commit to your giving?
These questions flush out the motivations and values underlying the gift and reveal its intent.
Understanding each other s personalities, the compatibility of goals, and the interpersonal abilities
helps participants collaborate for the benefit of a shared vision. The philosophy behind your giving
can become vulnerable and unprotected without a clearly defined intent. Trust agreements, wills,
and articles of incorporation may be insufficient to ensure fidelity to your philanthropic mission.
Donors investing the necessary time to consider these questions lay a strong foundation for defining
a shared vision and framework that will help fuel the act of giving, in a manner that is both
constructive and enduring for generations.
Now that you ve discovered and clarified your values and motivations, the next step is to articulate
your philanthropic purpose through a

Narcissism In The Peter
In addition to the fact that Peter could not enjoy domestic happiness, he is also unable to form
lasting, loving relationships with any human being. This could be explained by Peter s
heartlessness that is attached to forgetfulness and narcissism. Firstly, his narcissism lies in the
fact that he does not truly care about anyone except himself. Consequently, Peter never noticed
how short Wendy s dress become at the end of the first year because he had so much about
himself and even when he came again after many years he at first didn t notice a difference, for
he was thinking chiefly of himself . Secondly, it is a known fact that memories have a very strong

I personally think that writer wanted to emphasis the importance of growing up but at the same
time remain a little child inside and it is totally different from just remaining a child and rejecting
the adulthood as Peter does. For example, there was very childish deed when James Hook was
doomed to death and invited Peter with a gesture to use his foot . Even though Capitan was
dying he was calm and almost happy because of Peter s bad forms . Likewise, Mr. Darling, as the
writer pointed out, might have passed for a boy again if he had been able to take his baldness
off . Also, the fact that he ceased to be sensitive to the opinion of neighbours , nearly lived in the
kennel as well as medicine accident displayed his childish behaviour. However, exactly this
situation made him feel gratifying and he became sweeter . Lastly, Wendy herself is a direct
proof that there is nothing terrible adulthood, conversely she was one of the kind that likes to
grow up . Although something inside her was crying Woman, woman, let go of me , it was just a
quick impulse, as a matter of fact, she was simply nostalgic about dear old days why (shy) could
fly . All these cases illustrate that it is no necessity in perpetual youth because adults could be also

Online Shopping And Shopping
Warren Buffet once said that do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after
saving . The quotes tells us to be wise in spending money as the world today provides various
ways to buy things such as online shopping and shopping at the mall. As I look back on my
experience to buy items via online shoppingand shopping at the mall, there are three features that I
compromise which are the knowledge of items, the time taken to purchase items and the period to
receive the items officially.
Firstly, in terms of knowledge of items, shopping at the mall provides more details than online
shopping to the buyers. Online shopping displays limited details of items in the website. Anyone
who decides to buy things online will normally purchase the items that they know based on the
criteria of the items that fulfills their wills. The criteria will be judged by the buyer based on the
details provided by the online seller in the website such as Zalora. For instance, a buyer who
wants to buy a dress via online shopping can only know the size of the dress but it is not impossible

This is because all the buyers should do when they buy things at the mall is to make payment
before they own the things as well as online shopping. By shopping at the mall, once the buyers
paid for the items, the items will totally be theirs and they do not have to wait for the items to be
posted to their address as opposed to online shopping. Online shopping provides post service
which takes a long time usually three days and above to reach the buyers address. For instance, a
girl have to attend for an event which requires her to have a dress within two days. If she decides
to buy it online, she will not be able to receive the dress and probably could not attend the event
with a new dress. This shows that shopping at the mall provides a shorter period for the buyers to
receive the items

Suffragettes Movie Essay
An Analysis of the movie entitled, Suffragette
The year was 1912 in London, England. Women lived at the mercy of their fathers, brothers,
husbands and bosses; clearly a patriarchal society. Women s lives consisted of keeping house and
raising children and caring for their families. Those who worked outside of the home were limited
to menial labor, earned significantly less than men, and surrendered their earnings to their
husbands. Any inheritance of real estate or money a woman may have received was given to her
husband and, most often, she had nothing to say about how it was managed or spent. A woman
could not vote or run for office, and received little support, should she desire an education other
than a finishing school. (Clearly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Inspired by actual events, this film is a story of the suffragette as told through the experiences of the
fictional character of Maud Watts (played by Carey Mulligan). Reluctant at first, Maud commits
herself to the suffrage cause when her husband throws her out of the house, she loses her job, and
her only child is put up for adoption. While there are many poignant scenes in this film, one was
when she told her son to remember her name and pleaded with him to look for her when he was
older.
The film shows the brutality experienced by Suffragettes as they were beaten and arrested and
force fed while incarcerated when they refused to eat.
Final memorable moment
Perhaps the most memorable scene in the film was after being trampled to death at the Epsom
Derby, the director employed actual footage of Emily s funeral procession which showed thousands
of suffragettes walking behind her casket while thousands more lining the streets. The death of
Emily Davidson; that one single event, was the pebble that rippled around the world, and finally

I. Overview of politics, economics, religion and ideology in Italy at the time Botticelli was working:
Introduction:
After the end to the rough and challenging middle ages came a new era of literature art and culture.
this period was known as the Renaissance. The Renaissance started in the early 14th century and
would go on to the 16th century. The renaissance started a social change all through the entire of

Francesco Petrarch (1304 1374) was one of the main lights of the development. The lessons of
traditional vestige, Greek and Roman figure, design and writing did not surface again until the

on Florence specifically. The Italians of the period viewed themselves as to be living in a brilliant

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Distributed Energy
CHAPTER 2
2. DISTRIBUTED GENERATION
Distributed generation, also called on site generation, dispersed generation, embedded generation,
decentralized generation, decentralized energy or distributed energy generates electricity from
many small energy sources. Currently, industrial countries generate most of their electricity in large
centralized facilities, such as fossil fuel (coal, gas powered) nuclear or hydropower plants. These
plants have excellent economies of scale, but usually transmit electricity long distances and
negatively affect the environment.
For example, coal power plants are built away from cities to prevent their heavy air pollution from
affecting the populace. In addition, such plants are often built near collieries to minimize the cost
of transporting coal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Recently interest in Distributed Energy Systems (DES) is increasing, particularly onsite generation.
This interest is because larger power plants are economically unfeasible in many regions due to
increasing system and fuel costs, and more strict environmental regulations. In addition, recent
technological advances in small generators, Power Electronics, and energy storage devices have
provided a new opportunity for distributed energy resources at the distribution level, and especially,
the incentive laws to utilize renewable energies has also encouraged a more decentralized approach

the two missionaries who settled in Tanzania in order to start the religious culture of Christianity in

the ways of the white man. (Fanon, 41) The lectures in class this week and the article 10 of the

Social Otherness In David Harsent s Duffel Bag
Composers of texts often use language devices to convey the ways in which social otherness
impacts upon one s perspective. The language devices employed by the composer show that
social otherness is capable of completely altering the viewpoint that one holds. It can change the
way that people perceive things entirely, therefore changing them as a person given that one s
perceptive ability defines their overall character. This use of language devices gestures towards the
character development made possible by the impacts of, and direct interaction with social
otherness. David Harsent s Duffel Bag a poem about a person living on the fringes of society and

Harsent s poem Moppet details the struggles of an unnamed, genderless person facing abuse, and
how that affects their sense of self and their quality of life in general. Similarly, composers also
employ language devices to expand on the impact one s perspective has on social otherness.
This strengthens one s ability to understand or empathise with the social otherness faced within
the text. To exemplify the impacts of one s perspective on social otherness, composers use
language devices such as; slang, metaphors and irony. In Edward Albee s The Zoo Story a play
detailing the meeting of two drastically different men, Peter, who is on the higher side of the
social hierarchy and Jerry, who is on the lower side, the effects of Jerry s perspective on his state
of social otherness are greatly significant. In all of these texts, the composers use language
techniques to enhance the impacts of social otherness upon one s perspective and the impacts of
one s perspective on social

techniques to help make the old english that was used in Shakespeare s times understandable and
intriguing to a modern audience. Some of the many techniques used are music, costumes, props,
camera angles, lighting and diegetic sound. The movie also has symbolism to convey the idea of
Romeo and Juliet s chaotic, star crossed love. The movie is set in a modern Verona Beach. Within
minutes, the opening prologue, from Shakespeare s play, hurls us into the intense amount of rage
between the two families this is what makes the beginning so memorable for the audience.... Show

The story of a young girl falling in love at first sight and be willing to die for her love is a
difficult concept for a modern audience to relate to. To enforce this idea, the director had to
make sure of a few things. The first being to make sure the audience could easily accept that
Romeo is a naive guy, hoping for love to come his way. And secondly, Juliet being so innocent
she could fall in love with Romeo so easily. These ideas are portrayed in believable
characteristics when we first see Romeo and Juliet in the film. When Romeo makes his debut in
the movie, he is seen depressed. He is seen smoking a cigarette whilst writing poetry and glaring
aimlessly up, at a grey cloudy day. Both the cigarette and weather can be viewed a type of
symbolism in the movie. The camera shots zoom on Romeo s face, showing the audience his
melancholic facials which informs them about how he is feeling. The director uses these types
of shots throughout the movie to show the raw emotional back story of the characters. For
example, when the priest is told that Romeo wants to marry Juliet, the camera zooms into to
show his face which is in awe and disbelief; informing the audience about how the character, the
priest, is feeling. In this instance for Romeo, these shots capture the impress of a young lad who
is lost and upset. Soon after this, Juliet is introduced as being a young girl with an innocent
personality. Her parents speak of her still being a stranger to the world by saying She is still very
young. This phrase informs the audience that she is young, naive and can easily fall for any
handsome guy that comes her way. Through the movie this is done in many different ways, such as
dialogue, symbolism and in other scenes is done through the emphasis of the close ups. The
director emphasises Juliet s

Auburn University Jazz Ensemble Analysis
The Auburn University Jazz Ensemble performed two selections, South of the Border and Mercy,
Mercy, Mercy. South of the Border was composed by Jimmy Kennedy and Michael Carr for the
1939 film South of the Border. The song is in a major key and duple meter. It features consonant
harmony and alto saxophone, trombone, and drum solos. Joe Zawinul composed Mercy, Mercy,
Mercy in 1966. The piece contains two key changes and a homophonic texture. Both selections
were performed with extreme dynamic control, showcased by the rapid crescendos, balance
between sections, and dynamic contrasts between the ensemble and soloists. The Auburn

Social Security Payroll Tax Case Study
and Canada do individually make anywhere near the amount of revenue or employment that
healthcare industries have United States done, which is due to the effects of universal healthcare
creating a price ceiling. Chomsky states that Social Security payroll tax is highly regressive
(Chomsky and Barsamian, 2006, p. 143), and to an extend that is correct because individuals who
chose to go directly into the workforce after high school will have contributed four to eight more
years of their revenue to the Social Security system than an individual who gets an undergraduate
and graduate degrees. However, given that the average annual wage in the United Statesthat did not

Nevertheless, Chomsky goes on to state that the solution to the supposed claim of a regressive
Social Security payroll tax is by making the rich contribute more and then there wouldn t be a
Social Security financing problem (Chomsky and Barsamian, 2006, p. 143), but the answer is
not as simple as throwing money at the problem due to the effects of increasing taxes in the long
run will drive away foreign and domestic capitalist. This in turn would hurt the same individuals
Chomsky is attempting to help because those effects would result in a significant decrease in
revenue provided to the Social Security system and diminish the number of low skill jobs. Also,
another issue with the Social Security system that is pointed out buy Sowell is that it is an
irresponsible pyramid scheme that... [is] bankrupt[ing] the country . The evidence to reinforce this
claim is that in order for this system to work a prior generation has to have a birth rate that is
either matches or exceeds their generation because if there are not enough people in a generation to

Personality Traits Of A Personality Trait Essay
NZ Personality Trait Research Gender differences in personality traits
A lot of research has been done regarding gender differences in personality traits; which have
given observable differences in previous research done on different levels of traits. This study
addresses the gender differences in the levels of neuroticism and agreeableness in New Zealand.
Results show that there are significant differences between the levels of neuroticism and
agreeableness in males and females with women having higher levels in both traits.
Introduction(600 900)
Are women and men largely different in terms of personality traits? Agreeableness and Neuroticism
are two conflicting traits Do they differ in terms of gender? This research will address if there is a
significant difference in the levels of personality traits between males and females. NZMA
collected data on New Zealand participants responds to questionnaire based on personality trait
(Sibley, 2014). This research will look at how the data shows gender differences on whether men
have higher levels of one trait than the other or do females have a lower level of one trait that the
men are higher in. Previous work has been done on looking at the different five traits on the
Hexagon model and relating it to the gender differences. Studies similar to this have been many
times replicated with the traits agreeableness and neuroticism. A more recent study similar to our

Topics in Labor Relations
Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its
name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about
something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to
decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include
compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can
also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13).
According to our text book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance, increased focus on quality and

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who
championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor
unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the
Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives
workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices
and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them
rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of
employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire
employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news
release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the
NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company
has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This
normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line is in a union facility. Boeing
stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and
the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

Southern Mesopotamia
Some of the earliest human civilizations arose in southern Mesopotamia, in what is now southern
Iraq, in the fourth millennium B.C.E. In the second half of the millennium, in the south around the
city of Uruk, there was an enormous escalation in the area occupied by permanent settlements. A
large part of that increase took place in Uruk itself, which became a real urban center surrounded by
a set of secondary settlements. While population estimates are notoriously unreliable, scholars
assume that Uruk inhabitants were able to support themselves from the agricultural production of
the field surrounding the city, which could be reached with a daily commute. But Uruk s dominant
size in the entire region, far surpassing that of other settlements,... Show more content on

In the late Uruk period(3500 3100 B.C.E.), there first appeared a type of object that remained
characteristic for Mesopotamia throughout its entire history: the cylinder seal. This was a small
cylinder, usually no more than 3 centimeters high and 2 centimeters in diameter, of shell, bone,
faience (a glassy type of stoneware), or various types of stones, on which a scene was carved
into the surface. When rolled over a soft material primarily the clay of bullae (round seals),
tablets, or clay lumps attached to boxes, jars, or door bolts the scene would appear in relief,
easily legible. The technological knowledge needed to carved it was far superior to that for stamp
seals, which had happened in the early Neolithic period (approximately 10,000 5000 B.C.E.).
From the first appearance of cylinder seals, the carved scenes could be highly elaborate and
refined, indicating the work of specialist stone cutters. Similarly, the late Uruk period shows the
first monumental art, relief, and statuary in the round, made with a degree of mastery that only a

Social Problems and Social Welfare
For many of us when we hear the term Homeless the first image that often springs to mind is a
person huddling in a sleeping bag or cardboard box in a doorway of a city street. Whilst media
imagery and information released by charities can support this picture the problem of homelessness
encompasses a far wider range. This discussion looks at homelessnesswith a particular emphasis on
young people that is young people typically aged between 16 and 24.
In its simplest form Homelessness means not having a home. In this context a home is not just a
house, it is a permanent, private roof over your head, a place of security with community links and
support. It should be of a decent standard and affordable. (Shelter Nov 2005)

The Homelessness Act 2002 widened the classification of homeless people having a priority need
to include 16 17 year olds, care leavers aged between 18 and 20 and persons who are vulnerable due
to them being in care, prison, armed forces or fleeing violence and/or threats of violence. This is
a step in the right direction but bearing in mind we are considering young people to be 16 24
where is the support for persons 18 years +? There is still a significant gap here considering the
lower minimum wage and benefit levels available in this age range.
Other legislation places duties on Social Services departments to provide for people in and leaving
care namely The Children Act 1989 and The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
What is the impact of homelessness on young people? The More than a roof report acknowledged
that historically government s investment in affordable housing has been significantly too low.
Council House stock has been depleted through the successful Right to Buy scheme but these stocks
have not been replaced. Whilst there has been a required move away from council housing towards
housing association accommodation, an ever increasing population combined with this under
investment has left a significant gap in the countries overall housing stock. Regional factors are also
worth considering The prosperous South East corner of the UK has attracted a migrating population

later became the industry standard language for most of the software used in medical field. He
started his company MEDITECH out of curiosity when he saw that the medical field has too
many errors when it came to handling paperwork s in the industry. The focus of this paper is

Saks Fifth Avenue vs. Neiman Marcus
I am writing to analyse the company s current balance sheet and income statement. Particularly, I
will critique on the company s results, compare it to past years, compare it to competitors, and make
recommendations on how to improve its financial position.
Neiman Marcus department stores offer luxurious and high quality men s and women s apparel and
accessories. The Neiman Marcus Group operates 35 stores in nearly 20 states. The 2004 net
income was an impressive $204 million and revenue was $3.5 billion. More importantly, their
gross profit was $1.2 billion. Their net income is approximately 5.8% (compared to total revenue)
and 1.7% (compared to their gross profit). This may seem little, but when a company revenues such

Unfortunately, the accounts payable outweighs the cash account, but nevertheless, the net
receivables account is at $560 million. After receiving that amount and including the cash, they
will be able to pay off their entire accounts payable, as well as short term and long term debt.
Lastly, the long term debt is at a mere $324 million. This is only 13% of their total assets, meaning
that the company owns most of their assets.
Again, in comparison to Saks, Neiman Marcus is far better managed. Saks s total assets are an
impressive $4.7 billion, but current assets make up only 44% of it. Most of their money is valued
in power plant and equipment $2 billion. Also, Saks has high current liabilities of $966 million
and an even higher $1.1 billion in long term debt. They are not able to pay off these liabilities with
their cash.
Recommendations based on the balance sheet are little, since the company is performing so well.
Firstly, we can increase cash meaning, make more sales and have more discounts to attract
buyers. Furthermore, increase service sales. Introduce a dry cleaning line or a tailor service.
Secondly, increase property more stores. We see that we are performing well and with more
stores, we will increase assets. By doing so, we increase our collateral and gain more financial
status. Overall, the company is performing very well

Liberty In The First American Society
Liberty would be defined in one s own words as, the power to act as one pleases, and being free
within the society in which one stays. The society and the mindset of the majority of the early
American colonists were based around liberty and the whole meaning behind it, and they
wanted to make a society based upon the idea of it. A River View High School teacher says, the
society of this period in time was as close to anarchy as possible (Justice 2016).This, in other
words, is saying they had their own voice in the way they chose to live and pursue their own
happiness. The American colonists and the founding fathers never let anything get in the way of
their beliefs, hence the reason they were lead into so many wars and battles. The colonists... Show

When America was first created, the founding fathers made it under the idea that all men were
created equal. Note, they only stated men, more specifically white men. It wasn t until years after
that, 1920, when women finally got their rights, to finally vote and to finally speak their own
opinions, and to not have to hide behind whatever male figure was in their life, and instead make
their own decisions for themselves. It wasn t until years later, in 1964, when it was made possible
for the African American and other race men became equal and had the freedom to be able to live
and do the same thing as whites. So in other words, the constitution has changed for the better on
that note. On the other hand, the government has also changed for the worse, and a few different
ways. Today the government changed the laws for the protection of people. The second
amendment, which has been around since America was made because obviously the founding
fathers knew it was important to protect yourself, is possibly being changed because the Americans
feel that it is harmful to have or own a gun, and that is something that half the people of America
agree with, and half don t. There are other laws that are being changed, because the government
seems to want everyone happy, but obviously that cannot happen because not everyone thinks the
same so it is

  • 2. Dog Whistling Is A Term Used By Politicians Dog Whistle Politics is a term used by politicians to persuade the people by gaining their votes into a political position of power. Dog Whistling has been used for years by politicians to achieve what they want while campaigning for public offices. Politicians have been maneuvering and scheming for years during elections for the peoples vote. They have always put on a show for the people just to receive their vote. They set their sights on an office of public position and they begin a long and hard working race to gain votes. Dog whistling is just a different way for them to use codes or demonstrate to certain people to what they are really trying to say. Politicians portray a good and upright demeanor. It s part of their job. During their campaign for a specific position, they make promises to the people, they put time into well thought out and written speeches, they research every city and the population during the campaign tour and it is all to persuade the vast majority of people for their vote. It deals with race as well. Dog Whistling and racism seem to go hand in hand because it s dealing with race. Racism has been in politics for years. Dog Whistling is just a word used to speak to a certain group of people in code. Racism is still imbedded in us as people because we cannot treat each other equal. Some politicians use Dog Whistling as a way to speak to the mass of racism that is still current in today s society. The author in this book uses Dog Whistle Politics ... King Lear Destruction The oldest hath borne most; we that are young / Shall never see so much nor live so long , what Edgar, and the remaining survivors, have seen is one of the most impressive tragedies ever written (5.3.331 32). King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, has a deluge of dramatic irony, conflict, and death, making it one of the most tragic plays ever written. Such plentiful amount of tragedy leaves many scholars to ask, What is the cause for such destruction of lives? The paramount cause for the massive tragedy in King Learis the human nature s tendency to, in thought of self interest, react hastily with angeror sorrow. After examination of characters motives and actions the self interests of power, revenge, and protection are all what lead... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Sarah Elshater s The Problem Of The Essential Indexical Indexicals are important distinguishers of context within sentences. They are expressions that can be uttered by multiple speakers, and have a different meaning or implication each time it is spoken. For me to say I am Sarah Elshater has one meaning, for my older brother to say I am Sarah Elshater has a completely separate meaning and would likely cause concern within my family should he say such a thing. In The Problem of the Essential Indexical by John Perry, the notion of locating beliefs is mentioned as an essential part of indexicals, as indexicals allow the speaker s beliefto be expressed. On page 5, Perry writes I shall use the term locating beliefs to refer to one s beliefs about where one is, when it is, and who one is (Perry, The Problem of the Essential Indexical).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I have countless documented proof that I am, in fact, Sarah Elshater, my utterance of the sentence simply means that I know my name, and I am declaring my knowledge. For my brother to say that sentence, he could have a sarcastic or mocking tone, which could indicate that he is joking. Or, he could be genuine with his declaration, where he actually believes he is Sarah Elshater, in which case we would take him to the hospital to have his brain checked out. When it comes to indexicals, content is key to deciphering context, and without content, it can become difficult to understand a person s intent. In this paper, I will outline Perry s problem of the essential indexical, as well as outline his solution for this problem. In doing this, I will also make arguments for Perry s arguments about the essential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Start Heating the Pan (115 120oC) Use a wet pastry brush to eliminate sugar crystals As the amber brown colour appears turn the heat to medium Add any other ingredient s if required. Start string the mixture Once final required colour is attained stop cooking and Pour in moulds CARAMEL AND CRYSTALLIZATION When a wet caramel is made, first we make a sugar syrup which is sugar dissolved in water. The water evaporates as heating process continue to make caramel, the syrup becomes super saturated, which means that it holds more sugar molecules than the normal capacity of water. Due to this, the sugar tries to re crystallize. If this happens, final product ends up with a pan full of clear rock candy. In order to avoid this, we have to make sure pan is spotlessly clean. Sugar molecules have jagged edges and can easily stick to each other or to the impurities from the pan. A tool is required to stir caramel, which may contain impurities leading to crystallization, some people also say that stirring in itself (after the sugar has dissolved) can cause the sugar syrup to crystallize, as stirring encourages the sugar molecules to clump together. So instead, swirling the pan is another option What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the sugar and water boil, sugar syrup might fall on the wall of the pot, where it evaporates very fast and thus forming back into sugar crystals. This can be avoided by removing it from the heat, adding a few tablespoons of water, returning it to the heat, and stirring until the crystals dissolve before continuing on However, it s better to keep recrystallization from occurring in the first place, so there are a few ways to prevent ... • 8. Psycho, By Alfred Hitchcock We all go a little mad sometimes, and that could possibly be exactly how many feel after watching Psycho, released in 1960, and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock took a different route in terms of plot and structure for the typical Hollywood style. Psycho, like a young child never stops asking questions, it leaves us in a state of doubt and unbelief. It is classic horror, with the numerous jump scares leaving us at the edge of our seat, as every moment passes. Yet in the beginning, it s seems to portray a rather classic form in a sense, a near Aristotelian story. A woman who appears to be the main character in love, who is then faced with a problem, not enough money to marry her love, who then steals money to help build a future... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s get this clear about the only certainty that was in Psycho, was the first couple seconds of the movie when it displayed the location and the date. Everything else known to be true later on ended in a twist. For example, take the cover of Psycho, at first glance many may assume that Marian Crane, the woman on the cover, is ultimately the main character, the protagonist, the hero. If the cover didn t help out the opening scene was revealed two characters a man (Sam) and a woman (Marian) who appear to be in love. We have identified the main character Marian and we have identified the problem or goal a protagonist must achieve in a movie, obtain money so Marian and Sam can get married. Then we see Marian at work, where a rude, self pleasing, arrogant, rich man enters bargaining about himself and his daughter s wedding. Marian is then presented with a task deliver the money to the bank. Hitchcock has successfully set the bait and hooked the audience into backing Marian in any decision. She s doing it for love right, and the jerk has plenty of money anyway. After watching the entire movie I began to realize the true brilliance of Alfred Hitchcock, because, of course everyone loves a hero good, let s kill her 40 minutes into the movie and this is where things became interesting the structure of the film. Career And Interest Self-Assessment Results Self Assessment I.Career and Interest Self assessment Results This self assessment test was something that narrowed down possible interest and helped the participants open their mind to new careers. In fact when I finished my test I was able to view the different careers that feel in my interest category. Taking a survey and calculating the different likes each field had accumulated determined my test outcome. After gathering the likes that had accumulated I was able to determine which inventory category was strongest. My top inventory was conventional which states, I am one who likes to follow set rules and procedures, and prefers detail and clear lines of authority (Self Assessment, n.d.). My second strongest inventory category was Social, which states, I like work activities that promote learning and development (Self Assessment, n.d.). Not only did I learn what my strongest inventory was I also had the ability to learn which jobs fell under those categories. Out of each category within the level 5 education requirement, I had one job that stood out over the others; category one conventional had Math Professor. This job is something that would be interesting, but I am not sure if I would want this job as a career. The social category had one job that also caught my eye, health educator. Saudi Arabiacan also be assumed to be a county with a high uncertainty avoidance index. Conflict and competition is usually avoided (Mead and Andrews, 2009). The slow paced introduction of westernization into the culture reveals how the society is resistant to change, the thought of which places undue anxiety and stress on the members of its community. The attachment to family ties is a manifestation of its collectivistic approach in the culture of the Saudis. The social identity is derived from a group membership he/she shares. Loyalty to one s family members supersedes that of the individual; family involvement in personal life is usually not seen as being invasive or interfering (Anon, 2008). Hofstede scores the Saudis as having about 40 on the individualistic dimension (Mead and Andrews, 2009). Since this dimension expresses independence, a low score would mean a higher tendency towards collectivism. Even though the culture of the Saudis emphasizes hierarchy and autocracy, their mode of conflict resolution is compromise. The Saudi Arabians believe in relationship building and on solidarity (Anon, 2008), and thus characteristic of the feministic cultures. Nicholas and his whole family were assassinated due to him not being well admired per say. Also, the Czar didn t have any previous experience or training before he received his throne. Much like Czar Nicholas II, Mr. Jones was also the leader of some things and had many similar battles and problems. Mr. Jones is the farmer in the book Animal Farm, which was a representation of Czar Nicholas II. Nicholas II was born on May 6, 1868 in Pashikin, Russia. His father is Alexander III, whom he inherited his throne from, but Nicholas II was not ready. He was crowned on May 26,1894, after his father s death, without having any experience or training to help him rule. There was discontent in Russia as food became scarce, soldiers became war weary, and devastating defects demonstrated the Czar s ineffectual leadership (Czar Nicholas II abdicates). In addition, Nicholas faulty actions during the Bloody Sunday and WW1 all of Russia indicted him for their squander. • 20. Summary Of Bilingual Childhood By Richard Rodriguez Approximately 37 million people speak both English and Spanish in the United States and have experienced a feeling of discrimination or rejection. Richard Rodriguez s memoir called Aria: A Memoir Of A Bilingual Childhood demonstrates this with a personal experience. This memoir was taken from the book Hunger Of Memory which was originally published in 1982 . The events in this memoir occur specifically in the 1900s, when the author was a young boy, entering an American schoolfor the first time. One of the main issues displayed in his memoir is when Rodriguez recalls being labeled as a problem student being a Hispanic American student in an all white school. Another issue displayed in this memoir is the difficulties he had had to learn English meantime he felt more comfortable with Spanish. Being discriminated and not being able to adapt to two different languages is a struggle more than half of the world deals with. This is truly a serious issue because this could potentially be the origin of socially feeling uncomfortable. The purpose of this memoir was to tell the reader that individuality can come from both one s private and public communities, but that does not mean that one loses himself. The audience attracted to this memoir are foreigners in America. This memoir is directed to immigrants and other foreign people who have experienced the same difficulty of learning a new public language in America. The first two stanzas of the poem can be misleading, as they lead one to believe that it s a romantic moment to a past memory. However, with the poems sudden change in tone, the third stanza takes on more of a cynical view. You hear the dissatisfaction in the speaker s tone, as she wants more. The title conveys irony, as it shows that the roseis anything but perfect. She wants more than a rose, when she states. Why is it no one ever sent me yet one perfect limousine do you suppose? The word limousine implies that she maybe materialistic. Upon this, as the reader, one has to understand the context in which the poem was written in. It was written in 1937 when the Great Depression occurred. Because Parker faced many financial uncertainties, all she really wanted was to be sure she was financially stable. The phrase one perfect rose is repeated throughout stanza 1 and stanza 2, thus making it a refrain. On the other hand, the mocking repetition of one perfect indicates the underlining attitude of the speaker in the last stanza. Suddenly the phrase one perfect rose becomes disrupted when the speaker desires one perfect limousine. Moreover, the tone suddenly changes when she states, do you suppose? . The question is implied to the reader as the poem takes on more of a conversational tone. The poem suddenly takes on more of a sarcastic tone, as a lot of Dorothy Parkers poem are really known for. They are known for their witty remarks and irony. Line 11 and 12 states, Ah no, it s always just my luck to get one perfect rose. This essay will focus on my top three values of altruism, human dignity, and autonomy, how these values are currently represented in my life, and how these values led to my own unique philosophy and definition of nursing. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Human dignity goes along with my expression of altruism in my life. I express human dignity very similar to the way I express altruism, but I express this value further in my work. One main way I express this is through the provision of modesty and privacy in all ways possible while caring for patients. It is as simple as using least exposing methods and being respectful and professional when providing care. I also respect human dignity by giving my patients the power of choice and respecting the wishes that they express. I believe this is important because the hospital environment leaves people vulnerable to have their dignity ignored. Nursing researchers Papastavrou, Efstathiou, and Andreou (2017) describe this problem by stating threats to health were considered more important than those to dignity and the older people endured threats to dignity in favour of treating the health problem (p. 94). With this in mind, I work particularly hard to find ways to uphold human dignity always in my work and throughout my life. Autonomy Autonomy simply means the right to self determination, but it is a key part of nursing care (University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing, n.d., Values section, para 2). What values or principles do you and your family hold dear? What are some of the ideas, persons, or events that molded you? To whom do you want to give, and why? What impact would you want your giving to have on others? What do you expect to gain from your family giving? How much time and personal involvement do you want to commit to your giving? Anyone who decides to buy things online will normally purchase the items that they know based on the criteria of the items that fulfills their wills. Essay on The Negative Effects of Violent Video Games In recent years our society has experienced many tragic school shootings in which teens have committed heinous crimes for no apparent reason. The question has become who is to blame or what inspired these attacks on these innocent victims? This question has become an epidemic in our country. We live in a violent world and young people have easy access to it whether it s on television, in music or on the Internet. But with the explosion of media entertainment in recent years, video games have come under scrutiny as to whether or not violence in video games numbs children and teens to the consequences of real life violence. Harris tells his story in front of a video camera with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a sawed off shotgun cradled in his lap. Costikyan argues that first person shooter games are a way to let young people vent out their frustrations and impulses without harming anyone, but what he fails to see is that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold did in fact harm people and were partly influenced by the game Doom, which is a part of a game genre that he feels uses violence well (Costikyan). Violence is not something that can be used well, whether used in video games or in real life. Harris and Klebold, on the other hand, thought the opposite, in real life and in video games, with Harris going as far as creating their own customized version of their favorite game, Doom. Craig A. Anderson and Karen E. Frantz Fanon Concerning Violence Essay In Frantz Fanon s text Concerning Violence he establishes his response to colonization and decolonization to be the simple act of violence against the oppressor. I find that Fanon s reasoning s for using the sole practice of violence to directly reflect his past experiences. Fanon was affected directly and indirectly by experiencing the Fascist and Colonial violence as an African man and also witnessing the atrocities of his peers while growing up in Martinique. He also witnessed the atrocities of WWII when he fought against Nazi Germany and during the Algerian War as Algerians tried to gain independence from France. This example displays Fanon s ideas that the colonizer does not call the natives to God s ways but to the ways of the white man. • 40. Social Otherness In David Harsent s Duffel Bag Composers of texts often use language devices to convey the ways in which social otherness impacts upon one s perspective. The language devices employed by the composer show that social otherness is capable of completely altering the viewpoint that one holds. It can change the way that people perceive things entirely, therefore changing them as a person given that one s perceptive ability defines their overall character. This use of language devices gestures towards the character development made possible by the impacts of, and direct interaction with social otherness. To exemplify the impacts of one s perspective on social otherness, composers use language devices such as; slang, metaphors and irony. In Edward Albee s The Zoo Story a play detailing the meeting of two drastically different men, Peter, who is on the higher side of the social hierarchy and Jerry, who is on the lower side, the effects of Jerry s perspective on his state of social otherness are greatly significant. • 41. How Does Shakespeare Use Cinematic Techniques In Romeo And... Romeo + Juliet is a modernised film of Romeo and Juliet, which was written by William Shakespeare in the 1600 s. The director, Baz Luhrmann is the director the film. He uses cinematic techniques to help make the old english that was used in Shakespeare s times understandable and intriguing to a modern audience. Some of the many techniques used are music, costumes, props, camera angles, lighting and diegetic sound. The movie also has symbolism to convey the idea of Romeo and Juliet s chaotic, star crossed love. The movie is set in a modern Verona Beach. Within minutes, the opening prologue, from Shakespeare s play, hurls us into the intense amount of rage between the two families this is what makes the beginning so memorable for the audience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story of a young girl falling in love at first sight and be willing to die for her love is a difficult concept for a modern audience to relate to. To enforce this idea, the director had to make sure of a few things. The first being to make sure the audience could easily accept that Romeo is a naive guy, hoping for love to come his way. And secondly, Juliet being so innocent she could fall in love with Romeo so easily. These ideas are portrayed in believable characteristics when we first see Romeo and Juliet in the film. When Romeo makes his debut in the movie, he is seen depressed. He is seen smoking a cigarette whilst writing poetry and glaring aimlessly up, at a grey cloudy day. Both the cigarette and weather can be viewed a type of symbolism in the movie. The camera shots zoom on Romeo s face, showing the audience his melancholic facials which informs them about how he is feeling. The director uses these types of shots throughout the movie to show the raw emotional back story of the characters. For example, when the priest is told that Romeo wants to marry Juliet, the camera zooms into to show his face which is in awe and disbelief; informing the audience about how the character, the priest, is feeling. In this instance for Romeo, these shots capture the impress of a young lad who is lost and upset. Soon after this, Juliet is introduced as being a young girl with an innocent personality. Her parents speak of her still being a stranger to the world by saying She is still very young. This phrase informs the audience that she is young, naive and can easily fall for any handsome guy that comes her way. Through the movie this is done in many different ways, such as dialogue, symbolism and in other scenes is done through the emphasis of the close ups. The director emphasises Juliet s ... Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions.
