Ageism In The Workplace Essay
Ageism is the discrimination of people based on their old or young. There will always be someone
who is working at the same company that is either older or younger than you, doesn t matter if its only
by a few months or years. Both people are at the company to do a job. At a local dermatologist, the
story will follow to medical assistants almost 30 years apart in age. Their job is to help bring back
patients and assist the doctor or physicians assistant. Although the government has worked to
eliminate ageism in the workforce, prejudices based on age are still present and scene in day to day

They are associated with being in poor health or disabled, unwilling to try anything new, losing mental
sharpness, and are not good at functioning in a workplace. In the same case as young adults, these
myths and stereotypes regarding the elderly are most commonly not true. In a doctors office patients
seem to prefer an older medical assistant (MA) or doctor to one who is younger. Experience goes
along way in the medical field, an MA who has been at the same job for over 20 years is looked at
more trustworthy by their patients. The medical field is ever growing and jobs are always opening.
But with medical school taking almost up to nine years to complete, a lot of younger adults are turning
to PA school, which is only two and half years. Younger generations are starting to get more schooling
then their parents ever did. Terri, a 38 year old (MA) at Atlanta Dermatology for almost 20 years. She

In this paper an excerpt titled Theoretical from Engels Anti Dhüring will be examined in reference to
Engels ideologies regarding materialism, the social work order, and the fundamental problems
confronted in the clash between the social production and capitalist appropriation.
In the chapter titled Theoretical, Engels lays out the basic conflict between what we know as socialism
and capitalism, doing so by first examining what he calls the Materialist conception of history (Engels
1939, p. 292). In his materialistic history he claims that the exchange and bartering of products, and
their production is the basis of every social order (Engels 1939, p. 292). He states that in every society
that has ever appeared in history, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
294) Thus small workshops slowly became obsolete, being replaced by gargantuan factories where
hundreds of peoples would come to produce a product together. The fundamental issue that arises
however is this: in Feudalism, and in earlier times it was clear who the owner of the product of labor
was, the individual producer had produced it, as a rule from raw material which belonged to him, and
often was also produced by himself... (Engels 1939, p. 295) As a result of this, there was never any
need to appropriate the product to him, as it belonged to him as an absolute. (Engel 1939, p. 295) The
problem here is that this idea continued on even after social production had taken the place of
individual producers, and the Social products were treated as if they were still...the products of
individuals. (Engels 1939, p. 295) Now the owner of the instruments of labor continued to appropriate
the product, although it was not longer his product, but...the product of other s labor. Thus therefore,
the products now socially produced were not appropriated by those who had really set the means of
production in motion and...produced the products, but by the capitalists. (Engels 1939, p. 295)
Therefore the original contradiction in capitalism can be summed up as such: The mode of production
is subjected to

Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay
Natalie Lubben
December 5, 2016
Rhetorical Analysis Essay Draft
Slaughterhouse five
War is a virus, a plagues our world and has experienced since the early ages of time. Once a war is
cured a new strain begins stronger and more unforgiving as the last. Humans are creatures of habit
which continue the violence. Kurt Vonnegut s novel, slaughterhouse five, is a deliberate and well
developed statement against war as expressed through the tone, rhetoric, and characters, making anti
war a prominent theme through the entirety of the novel. Slaughterhouse five advocates for the
prevention of war and all the terrible consequences that follow. Kurt Vonnegut s seemingly parallel
relationship with the main character of the novel, Billy Pilgrim, and the parallels of other characters to
real life individual paints a more vivid and real wickedness to war. All this happened, more or less.
The war parts, anyway, are pretty much true (1). In the first line of the novel Vonnegut declares his
credibility. In 1944, Kurt Vonnegut served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After this
battle, Vonnegut was captured and became a prisoner of war. He was in Dresden, Germany, during the
Allied firebombing of the city and saw the complete devastation caused by it. Vonnegut himself
escaped harm only because he, along with other POWs (prisoners of war), were working in an
underground meat locker making vitamin supplements. Similarly Billy Pilgrim, the main character of

Leak About Thomas Perez Essay
Leak About Thomas Perez
Leaks of government affairs have always been common in Washington DC. When a person first hears
the word leak, they most likely think of a story that was not meant to be published or shown to the
public, but this is not always the case. Some politicians or government officials will leak information
just to see a reaction from the general public. This tactic is called a trial balloon. This tactic is seen in
an article that was posted in The New York Times in 2014 about the possible nomination of Labor
Secretary, Thomas Perez, for Attorney General.
The New York Times article by Thomas Hulse Labor Secretary emerges as a Top Candidate for

A trial balloon allows the White House to test the response to a potential nominee and unleash a round
of public vetting before the president puts his prestige on the line . This shows that a trial balloon is
just a common tool for politicians in government to utilize. The president wanted to put out his
potential nomination in order to see the response he would get.
The author of the article then goes on to talk about the response from both sides of the political
parties. The author states that the nomination of Perez would be strongly supported from minority
groups while Republicans would strongly disagree with this nomination. The author shows no
preference as to whether he agrees with the President but instead examines both sides and the different
responses he would most likely get. He states that the Republicans think that Perez is just going to
bring in more illegal immigrants to take American jobs and that democrats believe his modest
upbringing and the fact that he worked his way through college would make him a good candidate.
President Obama can use all of this information when deciding on who he will eventually nominate

Z For Zachariah Analysis
Everyone seems to think the kind of hardship you ve been thru describes your character. But in reality,
it is what you do with that hardship that really shows it. In Margaret Peterson Haddix s Running out of
time a young girl, by the name of Jessie, has to leave her village in order to help everyone. She leaves
because she has to go get medicine and has to stop her friends from dying. This was her hardship and
she chose to deal with it by helping out. In Z for Zachariah by Robert c. O Brien, also a young girl,
Ann has to deal with her hardship of she thinks the entire world dying besides an older man who
wants to harm her. She deals with it by running away and leaving him behind. There are many more
themes in the story, but the strongest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although they deal with their hardship in different ways, both ways took courage and were difficult to
do. Both running out of time and z for Zachariah are similar because both main characters being
young girls, ages 13 and 16, have gone through hardship. Along with hardships they have to also fix it.
Deal with it. Both the young girls have chosen to deal with this hardship with courage. In z for
Zachariah it took courage for Ann to finally move out of the house after Mr.loomis attacked her. On
page 177 the author talks about her being nervous by I did not sleep any more that night. After I got
out out of the house, I ran, not thinking where I went, not caring. I just wanted to get away as fast as I
could...my ears were pounding with my own heartbeat Some might think that getting out of the house
was not courage but just protecting herself. While this may be true, earlier in the book, when Ann had
left the house during the night, Mr.loomis almost shot her. So, by leaving the first time she was almost

Essay On Joint Executors
Joint Executors for Pennsylvania Estates
One decision that must be made when drafting your Will, is who to name as Executor of the Estate. An
Executor is an individual, named in the Will, who will administer the estate. This involves everything
from opening an estate checking account and paying the final debts of the estate (funeral bills, final
utility bills, etc.) to making sure the beneficiaries receive the assets of the decedent.
As the Testator, you can name two people, as Joint Executors, to administer the estate. There can be
some benefits as well as pit falls to this approach, and the right decision will vary depending on your
family and financial situation. Appointing more than one Executor can help to spread out the duties
required of the Executor. This can be particularly beneficial for Executors who have full time careers
or obligation which make it difficult to find time to fulfil their estate administration duties. Another
advantage of Joint Executors is that the Testator can assure the executors have the necessary financial
expertise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many decisions to be made by the Executor such as how to value assets for estate tax
purposes, when and how to pay those taxes, and when to make distributions to beneficiaries. Each
decision required by joint Executors increases the potential for disagreements and can lead to
disagreements. Also consider that in Pennsylvania, an Executor may be held liable for actions taken on
behalf of the estate. While an Executor may not be held liable for the actions taken by their Co
Executor, they may be required to make a claim against the Co Executor to protect the estate, or risk
liability. Pennsylvania allows Executors to take a reasonable fee for the administration of the estate.
Often when children act as Executors they waive this fee. Joint Executors may disagree on whether a
fee should be taken or how it should be

Changing The Oil In A Car s Engine
How To Change the Oil in your Car s Engine
Automobiles are American s second largest investment after real estate. It is impoprtant to understand
how to keep your car performing at its best.
The major components of a car consist of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and tires. The
purpose of this essay is to guide you through the process of changing the oil in your car s engine.
An oil change is recommended every 3,000 to 5,000 miles depending on your driving style and
conditions. Your car is more likely to need an oil change at 3,000 miles if you live in a metropolitan
area where you face stop and go traffic, polluted air, and very hot temperatures.

4. Jack the car up about a foot to a foot and a half. Use the jack stands and put them on both sides of
the car. ** This is a very important procedure; in case the jack fails (unlikely but can happen) you
have something to hold up the car.
5. Look under the car to find your oil reservoir, use the socket wrench to remove the nut. Before you
do this, you should have an oil pan ready to keep the dirty oil. After you unscrew the nut, you should
see a stream of motor oil draining out of the oil tank. Allow this process to occur for 5 10 minutes and
make sure the oil is going into the oil pan. This is the most annoying part of the entire procedure
because sometimes things can get messy. Also look for the oil filter and twist in open. We are going to
replace it with a new one in our next step.
6. Check in after 10 minutes, if you don?t see anymore oil dripping out, screw the nut back in tightly
and also screw on the new oil filter. Using a little bit of motor oil on the rubber gasket will ensure a
tight fit.
7. You are now almost done; make sure you have pulled everything out of the bottom of the car. Now
release the jack and let the car slowly come down to the surface. Open the oil cap and pour in the
quarts of motor oil into the oil tank. The amount is specified in the owner?s manual. Close the oil cap
and proceed to start your car. Shut the car off;

Vertical Integration at Johnson Johnson
Johnson Johnson: Planning Vertical Integration
Team Synergy
April 4, 2011
In a competitive market to which Johnson and Johnson operates, the smallest of errors can lead to
consequences which can cut revenue. When large mistakes occur, millions of dollars are lost, and even
worse, there is a loss of customer confidence. Johnson and Johnson has had numerous recalls in their
consumer healthcare division recently, which rocked the organization s once sound image, and
diminished its profits. These recalls have hurt Johnson and Johnson s stocks and cost the company
about $900 million in sales last year (Rockoff, 2011).

The vertical integration of J J into health services was a win win for the company, employers targeted
as customers, and employees (Sarasohn Kahn, 2008). The expanded growth capability through
acquiring companies in the downstream will continue to help the organization offer more products and
services. The current problem is that with various product offerings the quality and safety guidelines
may have been overlooked. The product recalls have been a result of poor quality management and
errors in the manufacturing process. The key benefits of backward vertical integration are: more
control over the manufacturing of J J products, advanced technology, and more trusted industry
experience. If J J has greater control over the upstream (selection of raw materials, production,
manufacturing, marketing, and distribution) then greater stability and higher quality goods will be sent
to retailers.
Implementing Solutions
In order for Johnson Johnson to achieve success in its vertical integration process, they need to create
a new position under CEO, William Weldon to manage the Signature of Quality Committee members
(SOQ) and to oversee the full supply chain processes. This role will be known as the Senior Director
of Quality. Within the next 30 days, a Cross functional team made up of the CEO, the Vice President

psychological factors, they are more influenced by behavioural factors. Vigilantees like Filho are
usually molded by the traumatic and tragic experiences that they endured in their childhood (Alley,

father would continuously take his anger out Filho or his mother. Being a small child, he could not do

Role Of General Practitioners And Primary Care Providers
2. Primary Care/General Practice Role of general practitioners/primary care providers in diagnosing
dementia Primary care physicians (PCP) play a crucial role in dementia diagnosis. Older patients
receive healthcare primarily from their general practitioners (GPs). [51, 52] Most patients and carers
prefer their GPs to be the first source of professional help when dealing with dementia. [53 55] The
Australian guidelines advocate early diagnosis by timely exploration of symptoms raised by patients
and carers. [14] It would be reasonable for GPs to initiate the diagnostic process for suspected
dementia cases before referring to specialists or memory clinics for confirmation of diagnosis.
Following a formal diagnosis, GPs are expected to provide ongoing management and follow up, with
adequate monitoring of efficacy and side effects of dementia modulating drugs; detection, prevention
and treatment of dementia complications such as Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of
Dementia (BPSD), falls, malnutrition; and appropriate referrals to support services. [56 60] The
disclosure of dementia diagnosis should be a shared responsibility between specialists and GPs, with
GPs exploring patients perceptions about symptoms and initiating tentative discussions about possible
diagnoses prior to referral to specialists and provide ongoing emotional and practical support post
diagnosis. [61] Although discussion of advanced care planning, legal issues and driving may be raised

Baroque Vs. Baroque Era
Baroque is a complex term used to describe what was thought to be a messy, vaguely disgusting style.
Potentially coming from the Spanish words barrueco meaning a rough or imperfect pearl or berruca
the term for wart , Baroque came to be a generalized term for art, architecture, music, and sculpture
from the 16th century to the early 18th century (Klindt Jensen 2015). Not only was the Baroque period
long lasting, but it was far reaching as well. From Holland to Spain, Germany to France, the Baroque
style began in Rome and Italy around 1600 and quickly spread to most of Europe, eventually reaching
colonial South America in the 18th Century (Fargis 1998). Similar to terms such as Gothic or

depth and spatial relations. Third, the change from closed to open form: the acknowledgement of the
viewer and the painting s relation to the physical world with conflicting angles and the ability to be
out of frame . Fourth, the idea of unity in a painting where no single image could be isolated due to
lighting and significance. Finally, the change from absolute clarity to relative clarity, the potential for a
subjective painting, one which could be read as a story. Painters such as Caravaggio presented their
works as theatrical displays, with intense lighting bringing the figures to the stage. Styles such as
Tenebrism, Chiaroscuro, and Leonardo De Vinci s Sfumato used fine shading and the drastic contrast
between light and darkness to bring dramatic elements to their works, as though they had their own
personal spotlight. Eclectic of the High Renaissance, Baroque painting was an evolution of style,
aggregating what were the preferred styles from the past and adapting them to the painter s personal
use. Peter Paul Rubens, a Flemish painter, was one of the best known painters whom mastered the
power of the Baroque. His works such as the Raising of the Cross portrayed Jesus as a heroic figure,
with intense lighting and even more intense facial features (Scribner 2017.)

The Darling By Anton Chekhov Essay
A darling can best be described as an affectionate form of addressing a beloved person, someone who
is pretty or has charm. In Olga Semyonova s case, she is considered both. Olga is the main character
in The Darling by Anton Chekhov. The Darling is set in the 19th century, and represents most of the
women from that time era. Olga is a woman that falls in love with men, yet can t seem to find who she
really is inside. She can only be described in one word as a Darling . Olga s only aspiration and dream
in life is to find someone that will give her unconditional love. In Olga s life, she has been lucky
enough to find two wonderful men, Kukin and Pustovalov, to give her that kind of love she desired.
Although these relationships ended tragically, they gave her what she needed to feel complete in that
moment. It isn t until in her later years she finds someone that truly completes her, Sashenka. In the
reader s perspective, we can see that there is something missing throughout her life, her independence.
Olga s relationships show that she is dependent on male affection, emotionally reliant towards others,
and lacking any personality of her own. In Olga s life she had married a theater owner, Kukin, and a
timber merchant, Pustovalov. In both of these marriages she relied only on the opinions and views
they had in their field of work. When Olga was married to Kukin, She used to say to her acquaintances

In the novel, Rose of Sharon is vigilant of her unborn child and symbolizes regrowth and hope for the

novel, Rose of Sharon loosened one side of the blanket and bared her breast.... She squirmed closer

gently in his hair. She looked up and across the barn, her lips came together and smiled mysteriously

pleased with helping others regardless of her dead child and suffering to live a happy life. This topic is
further examined by Eric W. Carlson in his essay, Symbolism in the Grapes of Wrath when he
mentions, Rosasharn symbolically transmutes her maternal love to a love of all people. As implied by
her smile hair stroking gesture, Rosasharn, whose maternal instinct has been frustrated, feels a

The Square Deal created by Theodore Roosevelt to help the working class and deplete the power of

Hannah Arendt Vita Activa Sparknotes
Hannah Arendt, The Vita Activa and the Modern Age Hannah Arendt was German American
philosopher; she wrote The Vita Activa and the Modern Age in 1958. In the passage, Arendt advocates
a three part division of human activities, which include labor, work, and action. Arendt seems to put
stress on action because it is the only activity that goes on directly between men without the
intermediary of things or matter, corresponds to the human condition of plurality, to the fact that men,
not Man, live on the earth and inhabit the world (389). Arendt discusses these parts within four areas:
social, political, private, and public. She states that action is within the public realm. Despite, the
hierarchical structure of these three parts, Arendt

Art History II

Sfakianos The piece that I chose to write about is entitled The Birth of Venus and was painted by the
French artist Nicolas Poussin. This painting was sold to Catherine the Great of Russia in 1771. It was
sold another time by the Hermitage Museum in 1932 when the Soviet government was desperate for
western currency. It was then that it was acquired for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The painting
was made in Italy in either the year 1635 or 1636. The medium that Poussin used was oils on canvas,
and the size of the painting is roughly around 38 by 42 inches. This painting is considered to be
included the Baroque period. (Philadelphia Museum of Art) Along side of the painting on display is a

wreaths on on top of their heads, and they are blowing into what looks like horns. On the right side of
the painting are three more figures. One is a woman sitting on top of a rock with a white cloth
underneath her bottom. Her back is facing towards the viewer and she seems to be looking towards the
man on the other shell. She holds a green cloth on the top of her head with her right arm while resting
on her left arm for support. There is also a tipped vase in front of the rock that is spilling water into the
ocean. To her right is a muscular man holding a woman on his back. Behind the two is an orange
yellow cloth flowing in the wind. In the front of venus is an cherub angel laying on an orange yellow
cloth with it s arms around the head of a sea creature. Above the pink cloth that Venus is holding up
are six more cherub angels. Some are dropping flowers down on the congregation and some have their
little bow and arrows out. There is a lot of clouds in the sky behind them. On the clouds to the left is a
chariot being carried by doves with another angel in it. The women figures and the angels are pale

The Byrds History
The Byrds was a rock band that started in 1964 in Los Angeles, California. The band originally started
out as a trio, named, The Jet Set, with Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, and Gene Clark. They
eventually changed their name to, The Byrds, with 11 members in their band. The members were:
Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, Chris Hillman, Michael Clarke, Clarence
White, Gene Parsons, Skip Battin, John York, and John Guerin. They were going to call their band,
The Birds, but in England, it is slang for girls, and they didn t want to be called, The Girls, so
McGuinn came up with, The Byrds. The band was active from 1964 to 1973, 1989 to 1991, and 2000.

John York was born on August 3, 1946, in White Plains, New York. John join the Byrds in 1968 and

replaced by Skip. John Guerin was born on October 31, 1939, in Hawaii. He was only in the band for
7 months, when he decided to leave the band to return to studio work. He wasn t considered an official
member of the band. He died on January 5, 2004, in West Hills, California. Most, almost all the
members in the band also sang, along with their other role in the band. In the song, Turn! Turn! Turn!

Ecclesiastes 3:1 8. When they composed this song, they literally just took most of the verses from
Ecclesiastes and made it into a song. This is actually I song that I enjoy and it sounds pretty good. I
think it is pretty cool how they arranged the song, because if you look at the last line of each verse, it
is: weep, together, embracing, and peace. You weep together, then you embrace each other for

Antidepressants During Pregnancy Research Paper
Abstract
With the increase of depression among many women, the risk for neonatal deficiencies may be linked
to medications used during pregnancy. It is speculated that there are a multitude of health risks to the
fetus if an expecting mother is prescribed antidepressants for Major Depressive Disorders. It is also
hypothesized that there may be long term effects to the child after birth if the mother of the child was
taking antidepressants during her pregnancy. Postnatal psychological effects may be due to the onset
of the drugs during pregnancy, and there may be a link between a child s physical and psychological
state once born, due to the drugs, but is not correlated to women that have used antidepressants before
pregnancy. Results identify that there are many negative effects of antidepressants use during
pregnancy.

Depression during pregnancy impacts the emotional well being between a mother and child, resulting
in a lost connection between the two. It has been suggested that a lesser maternal attachment can be
correlated with depression. Women lacking emotion in their relationships often suffer from depression
(Haedt, A., Keel, P., 2007). The deficit of an interpersonal maternal relationship can be linked back to
the mother s onset of depression during pregnancy. Symptoms of depression are known psychological
factors that may contribute to higher rates of negative birth outcomes in women (Giurgescu, C.,
Engeland, C. G., Templin, T. N. ,2015). This lack of emotion between a mother and her child can have
ultimately negative effects on the child s attachment and emotional well being. Just as women with
postpartum depression, it is difficult for women with depression during pregnancy to feel close to their
offspring, which could lead to emotional or physical

The Benefits Of Space Exploration
Going to space and exploring other planets and areas in space has been something that really interests
anyone. This is because exploration has been something everyone for the most part has participated in
and loved doing because you are discovering new things you had no idea about before. If you think
about it, exploration is the same concept as learning. When you explore you discover as well as when
you learn you discover. Space exploration has helped this country more than you would think just
from many technological advancements that came out from it. Most of which are items we use every
single day and rely on so much. Some of these technological advancements go from the satellite
television, laptops, fire detectors, all the way to telemedicine. These advancements that have come
from the space race era is technology that has been very useful to society. This is technology that has
saved many lives of Americans. The reason for lower and lower amounts of funding to NASA is
because it costs too much money which would be valid argument if it were true but it s not.
Comparing the amount of money, we spend on space exploration is a lot but what comes from it
makes it all worth it. We have discovered so many new inventions already so just imagine what more
we could discover if we kept the funding NASA with enough money they could actually work with.
Another great thing that comes with space exploration is competition. Competition is what makes us
discover all these new

What is a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) Analysis? It is very simple actually
and something several business use in order to evaluate their success.
If you ask anyone in the SEC, they could list you several hundred strengths because it is almost like
they are perfect. Usually, a really good business has fantastic employees, and not to say players are
employees but same concept. Alabama has the very best players in the country. Since Saban has taken
over the reigns as head coach, the Tide has posted a top five recruiting class. This has certainly been
the biggest contributor to the success of the program. However, these great athletes do not enter the
university as a freshman ready to win a Heisman Trophy. It takes an extreme amount of preparation in
order to make the transition from high school to Division I football. However, the Alabama Coaching
Staff seems to prepare their athletes to win a National Championship game one which is vital to the
success of a program in the SEC. As we stated earlier, the weight room has been vital to the success of
the Tide. This is arguably the biggest strength of the program. Finally, one of the most substantial
reasons that recruits choose the college power house is because of the facilities. From the weight room
to the newly renovated Bryant Denny Stadium, Alabama undoubtedly has some of the best facilities in
the country. Again, this is just few of the

Kinetics
Section 1:
Kinetics is the study of the rate of chemical processes. The kinetics of the reaction between crystal
violet and NaOH was studied. In order to monitor crystal violet concentration as a function of time, a
spectroscopic colorimeter was used. What is the rate law for decolorization of crystal violet? In order
to figure this out, the rate of the reaction of crystal violet and sodium hydroxide must be found. In this
experiment, the initial goals were to determine the overall rate law for the rate of decolorization of
crystal violet in basic solutions as a function of time and to determine the rate law for the reaction
including the actual value of k; Rate = k[A]x[B]y. The rate of a reaction was expected to depend on

Time) because it had a correlation closest to 1. All three orders were graphed and a linear regression
was used to see which graphed order was closest to 1. The order was determined by comparing the
concentration and time to the mathematical predictions made using the integrated rate laws. Analyzing
each graph and finding each correlation helped determine which graph was closest to 1. The more
concentrated a solution is, the higher the absorbance of that solution. This is due to Beer s Law. The
law measures the absorbance of a solution by determining how much light passes through a solution.
As the concentration of a solution increases, fewer wavelengths of light are able to pass through the
concentrated solution. The absorbance at 60 seconds was 0.573 (Figure 1: Table1). To calculate the
concentration (molarity), the Beer s Law equation was used, Abs = slope(m)+b. Plugging in what is
known into the Beer s Law equation resulted in 0.573 = 3.172e+004 + 0, where the concentration is
determined by M = 0.573 0/ 3.172e+004. So, the concentration at 60 seconds using the equation (M =
0.573 0 / 3.172e+004) was 1.824e 5 M. The 1st order graph resulted in k=0.006152 (Figure 1: Graph

Dual Diagnosis Treatment
According to the World Health Organization, more than 300 million people suffer from depression
across the globe. Unfortunately, less than 50 percent of these people receive treatment. Depression and
anxiety can be debilitating to live with. When they occur at the same time as an addiction, getting the
right treatment can be challenging.
Addictions, Depression and Anxiety
One of the reasons that depression and anxiety occur so often with an addiction is because patients try
to self medicate. Often, they may not realize that they have a mental disorder. They may try to use
drugs or alcohol to feel normal and alleviate their depression. Over time, this type of self medicating
can lead to an addiction.
If the individual tries to quit using, they may run into problems. Before, drugs and alcohol alleviated

The Giant African Snail By Achatina Fulica
Achatina fulica, commonly known as the giant African snail, is an invasive species native to Africa, of
very large, air breathing land snails that can reach up to 20 cm in length and 10 cm in diameter. The
United States Department of Agriculture considers the Giant African Snail to be one of the most
damaging species for the agriculture and crops in the country. It consumes a wide variety of fruits and
vegetables and is known to eat at least 500 different types of plants. The giant African snail is
becoming a significant agricultural pest in the U.S., and can pose a serious health risk to humans.
Possession of this snail is illegal in many countries, including the continental United States. This snail
is listed as one of the top 100 invasive species in the world and large colonies of this species can be
accumulated from just one individual. (Vázquez, Sánchez, Martínez, and Alba 2016)
The giant African snail can grow to be the size of an average sized adult fist, making it the largest
existing land snail species known, since snails usually measure about 3 inches. Their shells are cone
shaped and consist of 7 9 whorls when fully grown. They are usually brown in color with darker
streaks running across these whorls. The giant African Snail is a hermaphrodite, meaning that it
possesses both male and female reproduction organs and can produce up to 1,200 eggs per year. They
also reproduce rapidly, laying as many as 100 400 eggs in a single session, with a hatch success

Stereotypes In Exit West
Despite having contrasting personalities, both confront the stereotypes pushed upon them,
consequently maturing and forming their distinct sense of self. In a passage from chapter 2 (p. 21 29)
of Exit West, Mohsin Hamid develops the character of Nadia by contrasting her with her
surroundings; this contrast highlights her independent and free spirit as well as confronting how
religion, a stifling society, and loss manifest into one s identity.
Throughout both Nadia s childhood and adulthood, external forces such as religion and a society
unaccepting of women s independence force her to grapple with cultural pre conceptions and thus
forge her own identity which grants her personal freedom. Hamid sets up the novel to provide a foil

She defies the stereotypes imposed on her and embodies a strikingly utopian female character; her
fiercely independent nature and open minded views on religion and love among various other issues
startles even Saeed. In the first few months on her own, she acknowledges that in some moments,
equal or even surpass the loathsomeness and dangerousness that her family had warned her about but
she was determined to survive, and so she did. (22) Despite society bearing down, her nature is to
overcome. Her background has never included comfort and thus gives her a larger capacity to endure
difficult situations and understand those of different backgrounds. The contrast she has with her
surroundings gives her ease in making new connections. Her past gives her the ability to move beyond
differences, forming new communities and ways of survival. Opposed to Nadia, without the comfort
of uniformity, Saeed is lacking, though he does remain close to his family and to a religion that has not
been useful to Nadia. Which brings attention to the overall nature of Nadia s relationship with Saeed.
Juxtaposing Nadia against Saeed, Hamid wants to challenge typical gender and religious stereotypes.
On their first date, Nadia asserts that Nothing is going to happen...When I say you should come over, I

  • 2. Ageism In The Workplace Essay Ageism is the discrimination of people based on their old or young. There will always be someone who is working at the same company that is either older or younger than you, doesn t matter if its only by a few months or years. Both people are at the company to do a job. At a local dermatologist, the story will follow to medical assistants almost 30 years apart in age. Their job is to help bring back patients and assist the doctor or physicians assistant. Although the government has worked to eliminate ageism in the workforce, prejudices based on age are still present and scene in day to day officers. They are associated with being in poor health or disabled, unwilling to try anything new, losing mental sharpness, and are not good at functioning in a workplace. In the same case as young adults, these myths and stereotypes regarding the elderly are most commonly not true. In a doctors office patients seem to prefer an older medical assistant (MA) or doctor to one who is younger. Experience goes along way in the medical field, an MA who has been at the same job for over 20 years is looked at more trustworthy by their patients. The medical field is ever growing and jobs are always opening. But with medical school taking almost up to nine years to complete, a lot of younger adults are turning to PA school, which is only two and half years. Younger generations are starting to get more schooling then their parents ever did. Terri, a 38 year old (MA) at Atlanta Dermatology for almost 20 years. • 3. Self, Culture and Society In this paper an excerpt titled Theoretical from Engels Anti Dhüring will be examined in reference to Engels ideologies regarding materialism, the social work order, and the fundamental problems confronted in the clash between the social production and capitalist appropriation. In the chapter titled Theoretical, Engels lays out the basic conflict between what we know as socialism and capitalism, doing so by first examining what he calls the Materialist conception of history (Engels 1939, p. 292). In his materialistic history he claims that the exchange and bartering of products, and their production is the basis of every social order (Engels 1939, p. 292). He states that in every society that has ever appeared in history, the ... The fundamental issue that arises however is this: in Feudalism, and in earlier times it was clear who the owner of the product of labor was, the individual producer had produced it, as a rule from raw material which belonged to him, and often was also produced by himself... (Engels 1939, p. 295) As a result of this, there was never any need to appropriate the product to him, as it belonged to him as an absolute. (Engel 1939, p. 295) The problem here is that this idea continued on even after social production had taken the place of individual producers, and the Social products were treated as if they were still...the products of individuals. (Engels 1939, p. 295) Now the owner of the instruments of labor continued to appropriate the product, although it was not longer his product, but...the product of other s labor. Thus therefore, the products now socially produced were not appropriated by those who had really set the means of production in motion and...produced the products, but by the capitalists. (Engels 1939, p. 295) Therefore the original contradiction in capitalism can be summed up as such: The mode of production is subjected to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay Natalie Lubben December 5, 2016 Rhetorical Analysis Essay Draft Slaughterhouse five War is a virus, a plagues our world and has experienced since the early ages of time. Once a war is cured a new strain begins stronger and more unforgiving as the last. Humans are creatures of habit which continue the violence. Kurt Vonnegut s novel, slaughterhouse five, is a deliberate and well developed statement against war as expressed through the tone, rhetoric, and characters, making anti war a prominent theme through the entirety of the novel. Slaughterhouse five advocates for the prevention of war and all the terrible consequences that follow. Kurt Vonnegut s seemingly parallel relationship with the main character of the novel, Billy Pilgrim, and the parallels of other characters to real life individual paints a more vivid and real wickedness to war. All this happened, more or less. The war parts, anyway, are pretty much true (1). In the first line of the novel Vonnegut declares his credibility. In 1944, Kurt Vonnegut served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After this battle, Vonnegut was captured and became a prisoner of war. He was in Dresden, Germany, during the Allied firebombing of the city and saw the complete devastation caused by it. Vonnegut himself escaped harm only because he, along with other POWs (prisoners of war), were working in an underground meat locker making vitamin supplements. Similarly Billy Pilgrim, the main character of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Leak About Thomas Perez Essay Leak About Thomas Perez Leaks of government affairs have always been common in Washington DC. When a person first hears the word leak, they most likely think of a story that was not meant to be published or shown to the public, but this is not always the case. Some politicians or government officials will leak information just to see a reaction from the general public. This tactic is called a trial balloon. This tactic is seen in an article that was posted in The New York Times in 2014 about the possible nomination of Labor Secretary, Thomas Perez, for Attorney General. The New York Times article by Thomas Hulse Labor Secretary emerges as a Top Candidate for Attorney General talks about the high possibility of Thomas Perez being the leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A trial balloon allows the White House to test the response to a potential nominee and unleash a round of public vetting before the president puts his prestige on the line . This shows that a trial balloon is just a common tool for politicians in government to utilize. The president wanted to put out his potential nomination in order to see the response he would get. The author of the article then goes on to talk about the response from both sides of the political parties. The author states that the nomination of Perez would be strongly supported from minority groups while Republicans would strongly disagree with this nomination. The author shows no preference as to whether he agrees with the President but instead examines both sides and the different responses he would most likely get. He states that the Republicans think that Perez is just going to bring in more illegal immigrants to take American jobs and that democrats believe his modest upbringing and the fact that he worked his way through college would make him a good candidate. President Obama can use all of this information when deciding on who he will eventually nominate for Attorney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She leaves because she has to go get medicine and has to stop her friends from dying. This was her hardship and she chose to deal with it by helping out. In Z for Zachariah by Robert c. Look under the car to find your oil reservoir, use the socket wrench to remove the nut. Before you do this, you should have an oil pan ready to keep the dirty oil. After you unscrew the nut, you should see a stream of motor oil draining out of the oil tank. Allow this process to occur for 5 10 minutes and make sure the oil is going into the oil pan. This is the most annoying part of the entire procedure because sometimes things can get messy. Also look for the oil filter and twist in open. The expanded growth capability through acquiring companies in the downstream will continue to help the organization offer more products and services. The current problem is that with various product offerings the quality and safety guidelines may have been overlooked. The product recalls have been a result of poor quality management and errors in the manufacturing process. The key benefits of backward vertical integration are: more control over the manufacturing of J J products, advanced technology, and more trusted industry experience. • 16. Role Of General Practitioners And Primary Care Providers 2. Primary Care/General Practice Role of general practitioners/primary care providers in diagnosing dementia Primary care physicians (PCP) play a crucial role in dementia diagnosis. Older patients receive healthcare primarily from their general practitioners (GPs). [51, 52] Most patients and carers prefer their GPs to be the first source of professional help when dealing with dementia. [53 55] The Australian guidelines advocate early diagnosis by timely exploration of symptoms raised by patients and carers. [14] It would be reasonable for GPs to initiate the diagnostic process for suspected dementia cases before referring to specialists or memory clinics for confirmation of diagnosis. Following a formal diagnosis, GPs are expected to provide ongoing management and follow up, with adequate monitoring of efficacy and side effects of dementia modulating drugs; detection, prevention and treatment of dementia complications such as Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), falls, malnutrition; and appropriate referrals to support services. [56 60] The disclosure of dementia diagnosis should be a shared responsibility between specialists and GPs, with GPs exploring patients perceptions about symptoms and initiating tentative discussions about possible diagnoses prior to referral to specialists and provide ongoing emotional and practical support post diagnosis. Potentially coming from the Spanish words barrueco meaning a rough or imperfect pearl or berruca the term for wart , Baroque came to be a generalized term for art, architecture, music, and sculpture from the 16th century to the early 18th century (Klindt Jensen 2015). Not only was the Baroque period long lasting, but it was far reaching as well. From Holland to Spain, Germany to France, the Baroque style began in Rome and Italy around 1600 and quickly spread to most of Europe, eventually reaching colonial South America in the 18th Century (Fargis 1998). Fourth, the idea of unity in a painting where no single image could be isolated due to lighting and significance. Painters such as Caravaggio presented their works as theatrical displays, with intense lighting bringing the figures to the stage. Eclectic of the High Renaissance, Baroque painting was an evolution of style, aggregating what were the preferred styles from the past and adapting them to the painter s personal use. Antidepressants During Pregnancy Research Paper Abstract With the increase of depression among many women, the risk for neonatal deficiencies may be linked to medications used during pregnancy. It is speculated that there are a multitude of health risks to the fetus if an expecting mother is prescribed antidepressants for Major Depressive Disorders. It is also hypothesized that there may be long term effects to the child after birth if the mother of the child was taking antidepressants during her pregnancy. Postnatal psychological effects may be due to the onset of the drugs during pregnancy, and there may be a link between a child s physical and psychological state once born, due to the drugs, but is not correlated to women that have used antidepressants before pregnancy. Depression during pregnancy impacts the emotional well being between a mother and child, resulting in a lost connection between the two. It has been suggested that a lesser maternal attachment can be correlated with depression. Women lacking emotion in their relationships often suffer from depression (Haedt, A., Keel, P., 2007). The deficit of an interpersonal maternal relationship can be linked back to the mother s onset of depression during pregnancy. Symptoms of depression are known psychological factors that may contribute to higher rates of negative birth outcomes in women (Giurgescu, C., Engeland, C. G., Templin, T. N. ,2015). Analyzing each graph and finding each correlation helped determine which graph was closest to 1. The more concentrated a solution is, the higher the absorbance of that solution. This is due to Beer s Law. The law measures the absorbance of a solution by determining how much light passes through a solution. As the concentration of a solution increases, fewer wavelengths of light are able to pass through the concentrated solution. The absorbance at 60 seconds was 0.573 (Figure 1: Table1). To calculate the concentration (molarity), the Beer s Law equation was used, Abs = slope(m)+b. Plugging in what is known into the Beer s Law equation resulted in 0.573 = 3.172e+004 + 0, where the concentration is determined by M = 0.573 0/ 3.172e+004.
