models and approaches relate to client need, therapeutic...
Through analysis and evaluation of models and approaches within counselling and psychotherapy
therapeutic delivery, explain how models and approaches relate to client need, therapeutic context and
aims and objectives of the therapy.
Psychotherapists will be educated in various different models and whether they are approaching a client
through the concept of observing external behaviours, the Behaviourist approach for example in which
a therapist will look to condition new behaviours, or through the idea of internal behaviour, such as the
Psychodynamic approach and believing the unconscious needs to be divulged, the aim of all
approaches is to enable the client to lead a positive and prosperous life, in the words of Carl Rogers, as

The humanistic approach works on the idea of the individual s free will and puts faith and control into
them. Maslow argues that Freud supplied the sick half of psychology and that He (and Rogers) stressed
the healthy half . The humanistic approach can be seen as a counterbalance to both the Psychodynamic
and Behaviourist approaches, the humanistic approach brought the person back to psychology. Despite
these differences between the Humanistic and Psychodynamic approach it has to be acknowledged that
in certain situations the two approaches can be combined, depending on the client s diagnosis.
We also have to consider the difference in the role of the therapist between the different models, (R.

any emotion or revealing any personal information . If working within the Psychodynamic and

Accounting Paper
Introduction
In recent decades, the global economy has undergone a rapid transformation, from an economy driven
by traditional hard assets plants, warehouses and the like , to an economy driven by patents, software,
intellectual property, and brands. These items fall into a category that has become hugely important in
the world of financial reporting, intangible assets . Increasingly, the value of a firm is derived not from
its tangible assets such as stock, property, plant and equipment but by its knowledge capital, its
employees, even by its business processes. As Baruch Lev notes in 2001:
Pfizer s value comes from its discovery activities (drug development, patents, trademarks), and from an
unusually effective sale force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were able to conclude that the usefulness of reported earnings, cash flows, and book (equity)
values has been deteriorating over the years . The decline in the usefulness of accounting is a result of
the difficulties in measuring an internally developed intangible asset, firstly how does one assign a
value to knowledge capital, secondly, what is the fair value of this capital if no exchange has taken
place? In the interest of conservatism and reliability, regulators require all investments in R amp;D to
be immediately expensed. This creates a problem since the benefits of this research are not realized
until a later period, thus the concept of matching goes out the window. This increased expenditure
resulting from R amp;D expenditure distorts earnings on the income statement. In the event of a merger
or an acquisition (M amp;A), in accordance with APB Opinion 17, any excess amount paid over the
book value for a firm would be listed under the catch all term goodwill which was amortized over 40
years. As a result of these regulation standards, the gap between the market value of technology firms
and their book value became ever larger.
Efforts to Improve Financial Reporting
The dangers of this ineffective accounting for intangibles were brought into a stark light in 2001
following the collapse of energy giant Enron, which once had been widely considered to be one of

The Movie The Frighteners Way Before I Knew Who He
The thing I find interesting about this Peter Jackson is that I watched his movie the frighteners way
before I knew who he was.
The Frighteners directed by Peter Jackson and co written with his wife, Fran Walsh. A lot of people don
t know that Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh conceived the idea for The Frighteners during the script
writing phase of Heavenly Creatures. The Frighteners was a spin off film of to the television series,
Tales from the Crypt. But after Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh s first draft it was agreed that the script
would be better of as a movie than a tv series The visual effects were created by Jackson s Weta Digital,
which had only been in existence for three years. And the fact that The Frighteners required more
digital effects shots than almost any movie made until that time, resulted in the eighteen month period
for effects work by Weta Digital being largely stressed.
Despite a rushed post production schedule, Universal was so impressed with Jackson s rough cut on
The Frighteners, the studio moved the theatrical release date closer by four months. The film was not a
box office success, but received generally positive reviews from critics. Despite its lackluster
performance at the box office, the film has gained a cult following in more recent years.
The Frighteners is also Fox s last leading role in a live action feature film; Fox then went on to a four
year run on the television series Spin City before semi retiring in 2000 due to the effects of

Discuss the Effects of Globalisation on Economic Growth...
Discuss the effects of globalisation on economic growth and the quality of life in the Chinese economy.
Globalisation is the progression towards a growing assimilation between different countries in order to
gain a single world market. It strongly encourages overseas trade, the removal or the reduction of trade
barriers to increase economic growth and development. Globalisation ultimately presents to everyone a
world which is increasingly liberalized and market orientated. Associated with globalisation there is
increased and intensified competition and greater interdependence among countries. In numerous ways

This has led to a decrease in agricultural produce and an astonishing increase in industrial goods and
services and alleviated a substantial amount of China s absolute poverty.
The Chinese government has embraced a series of strategic policies to address the challenge of
economic globalization. These strategies started in 1978 after Chairman Mao s self sufficient economy
plan. China began employing several reform strategies to enhance growth. This included stimulating
the agricultural sector to allow them to sell a percentage on the free trade market yet hold a competitive
position. In addition to this citizens were given money incentives and tax breaks in order to start new
businesses and allocated regions were created to encourage high levels of investment, increase exports
and increase technology levels.
Other reform strategies included Deng Xiaoping s the rearrangement of the economic structure by
increasing the development of the high technology sector and moving away from the agricultural
sector; transformation of the pattern of economic growth by increasing power in IT education and
sustainable development as well as additional progress of the outward oriented economy by
implementing come in and go out strategies. This is where the government encourages its enterprises to
invest overseas. This has been demonstrated in Australia where Chinese investors have bought farming

The Trans Atlantic Slave Trade
The history of the Trans Atlantic slave trade is more readily accessible and popular, as opposed to the
history of the Viking slavers. Painter points out that the Vikings were hardly viewed in popular culture
as the preeminent slavers they really were, while Dublin was the slave market capitol of the world from
the 11th through the 15th centuries. Whites living in the current day British Isles through France and
Scandinavia were all subject to slave raids by Vikings for hundreds of years with some destitute
individuals going as far as to sell themselves into slavery. While the Atlantic Slave Trade used racism to
justify their exploitation, it is important to realize that this is a justification birthed out of economic
greed rather then inherit racist sentiment. Economic advancement was the purpose of the slave trade
while race creation and whiteness were constructs built to support and justify this economic
exploitation during the Atlantic Slave Trade. Unfortunately, due the indoctrinated justifications of race
creation; racism, prejudice and the prevalence of whiteness became magnified and held up as superior
social standing.
The word Caucasian, which has been used to describe white people for nearly 220 years was brought
into popularity in Lower Saxony, the Germanic providence, in 1795 and is attributed to a German

A Brief History of Iraq
Iraq borders Turkey to the North and Iran to the East. Iraq was colonized by Great Britain in particular,
British efforts to colonize and govern Iraq were miscalculated and self serving, resulting in the creation
of an unbalanced and violent nation, divided along ethic and separation lines of many different ethnic
backgrounds. The failures of the Cairo Conference along with the lack of understanding between
Britain s understanding of the Arab nationalist movement and the appointment of Faisal as King, have
led to conflict and violence as unity has been disabled within the country. Conflict in Iraq can be
contributed to early colonization/westernization and Al Qaeda.
Early colonization within Iraq and the British rule over Iraq created a lot of turmoil and uncertainty
within the country. During the infamous World War 1 the British attacked the Ottoman Empire in Iraq,
Britain came in with a bang and wanted to put its own influence on the country immediately. The
British army sought out local sheikhs to implement power over the population. The British had hoped
to empower the Sheikhs by giving them the authority to arrest criminals and collect taxes based on their
own set of beliefs, and in return the British decided to give the Sheikhs subsidies and weapons and
would even sometimes lend them soldiers. Nationalist aspects of understanding were put into force by
Iraq at the time, but British rule quickly eliminated any talk of nationalism within Iraq. With not many

Lee Chew Life Of A Chinese Immigrant Summary
The United States has always appeared to have had an unfair white American advantage. What
instances of desire for superiority took place in America? The Slavery Era is an example of how white
people alienated the rights of African Americans and other ethnic groups including the Irish. Americans
oppressed, belittled, and alienated the rights of African Americans in many ways. African Americans
were property to white Americans in the early slavery years. African Americans were often beaten and
even murdered. Whites saw African Americans as inferior, so they treated them as such. This is a prime
example of unethical and immoral actions that white Americans took to ensure their own power and
superiority. Americans ensured their advantage in free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The committee was willing to go to violent means to ensure the equality and fair opportunity in
employment. This was their stand to the oppression that was put on the African Americans by white
Americans who had wanted absolute control and ensured power, and superiority. This is a prime
example of white Americans wanting to maintain dominance and superiority in the United States.
What about other immigrants? What was their life as an immigrant like? Did they have fair
employment opportunity? Did they have equal rights? In analyzing Lee Chew s Life of a Chinese
Immigrant (1903), Lee Chew reveals some key points about Chinese prejudice against American he
states that the prejudice is unfounded and how he did not believe in the wild tales about the Americans

emigrating from China. Chew had stated that he went from laundering clothes, to the railroad, to
mining and how many of the miners were wild men who carried revolvers and after drinking would
come into our place to shoot and steal shirts, for which we had to pay. (Chew

People do not show enough empathy towards people who unfortunately are homeless they show
compassion but don t do anything to make a difference for them. Empathy is sharing the same emotions
and feelings towards another person. Because of the lack of empathy of homeless people, society is not
empathetic enough. Obviously there s a lack of empathy for homeless people because they re not
fortinet. Three to seven of those cities are in america. And in Salt Lake, Utah they held a 4 hour

it would be in there shoes if people have did have enough empathy they wouldn t boo or be against
people that are unfortunate with little to no money some of them have kids and if there child they

We don t show enough empathy like the boy in this video persectalces . At first this high schooler walk

Homeless Families In America
Homeless Families in America
We generally think of the homeless as people who made bad choices and are doing nothing to help
themselves. We rarely think of the parents who have to decide on either feeding their children or paying
rent. On how one event leads to a series of events that change the course of history for these families. A
family with only one provider who dies unexpectedly, leaving the family with no means of providing
for itself. A mother who has to choose the safety of her children over the comfort her abuser provides.
Against popular belief that most homeless are mentally ill or lazy people who do not want to work,
there are many causes of homelessness (Top Causes of Homelessness in America, 2015).
The Typical Homeless Family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transitional means that the family has instability when it comes to having a residence. An example of a
transitional living situation is homelessness, which is obvious when families are living in shelters.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, out of the 1.56 million people
the used homeless shelters and emergency homeless centers between October 1, 2008 and September
30, 2009, five hundred twenty thousand of them were families. Homeless families are constantly on the
move, trying to find a safe place for their family to sleep. One day they may stay with friends, the next
day at a shelter, and the day after that they may be living under a bridge, in a car, or in an abandoned
building. Some families who have no home, choose to stay with family or friends (Zlotnick, 2014).
Families overcoming Homelessness One of the biggest challenges that families face when overcoming
homelessness is finding a stable residence. Every family faces its own set of unique challenges. Finding
gainful employment after either being underemployed or unemployed. Being able to find affordable

Solution Of Water Pollution
Introduction
People usually don t check the water they drink before drinking it because they trust that just because it
is in the bottle, water fountain, refrigerator (etc.) that it is free of pollutants, but that is not always the
case. Water pollution in drinking water is very common and dangerous because the bacteria/pollutants
can cause health problems that lead to death. There are a variety of diseases and bacterias that lead to
the health problems. What is water pollution?
Water pollution is generally described as a contaminated body of water. Water pollution is caused by
pollutants like chemicals and compounds. The Georgia Holt Environmental
Science Textbook defines water pollution as the introduction of chemicals, physical, or biological
agents into water that degrades water quality and adversely affect the organisms that depend on water.
These waters can be lakes, swamps, oceans, gulfs, rivers, aquifer and etc. Almost all water pollution
comes from industrialization and rapid population growth. Water pollution affects every aspect of life
from humans, plants, and animals. Water makes up 70% of the earth so water pollution affects animal
life such as the animals that live in water are affected because they can become sick and die off and can
affect the rest of the food chain which can affect the humans that eat them. That contamination now is
spread to the human population which negatively affects our communities and

Transcontinental Railroad Importance

The Importance of the Transcontinental Railroad Beginning in the late 1860 s America began to expand
rapidly. With the completion of the transcontinental railroad a journey that once would take months
would now take a mere week to complete (Henretta, Edwards, Self, 476). America as we know it began
to take place. In the early 1860 s major cities in the Eastern portion of the United States began to grow
larger. Increasing numbers in railroads made interconnecting the country much easier and allowed for
expansion to happen quickly. By the 1890 s the United States had expanded west and a majority of the

A Text Message From My Life
One dark stormy night I got a text message from my boyfriend saying get dress we going out. When he
arrived at my house we went to dinner and then back at his house. As we was sitting on the sofa, we
was talking about how each other day went until his phone goes off and then he starts replying back to
text message. I kept talking to him and he wasn t paying me no mind so then I sent him a text while he
was sitting a couple inches from me to get his attention. It s likely you ve done this, too. Then he
looked at me because he knew I was mad by my facial expression, so he put his phone away in his
pocket. When a person is spending alone time with their mate or just anyone in general it s a place
when one gets to enjoy ones company, not a place where one get to enjoy what s going on ones side of
the phone. This illustrates that there is little empathy towards people if they can t even get a face to face
conversation with each other for a couple hours without one person looking at their phone. Nobody
should have to send a text message to get ones attention or make them feel empathy towards them.
Technology has become an important part of our daily lives and is gradually affecting the way we feel
for others. As the years go on, it becomes faster, smaller. Everywhere we go we see technology or
someone using it and many people would say it s a second you. Technology has made as lazy and self
aware of the world around us. We re missing out on the important conversation with others

Theme Of Contradictions In A Clockwork Orange
Contradiction/Duality as the ultimate reality in A clockwork orange.
In his novel A clockwork orange, Anthony Burgess explores contradiction/duality as a ultimate reality.
His understanding of this phrase reflects the world as a set of fundamental and coequal oppositions of
forces, and this is evident throughout the novel (Sparknotes, 2015:1). In the following essay we will be
exploring the concept of contradictions/duality as portrayed in the novella by referring to the following
contradictions namely; good versus evil, commitment versus neutrality, free will versus the Clockwork
orange , man versus government, youth versus maturity and intellect versus intuition.
Burgess expresses the idea that a man cannot be completely good or evil and ... Show more content on

The novel revolves around what happens when a person s free will is taken away (Novelguide, 2015:2).
Alex asserts his free will by choosing a course of wickedness, but he is subsequently robbed of his self
determination by the governments implementation of the Ludovico Technique upon him (Sparknotes,
2015:1). By making Alex a ruthless and wicked criminal, Burgess argues that humanity must, at any
cost, insist that individuals be allowed to make their own moral choices, even if that freedom results in
depravity (Sparknotes, 2015:1). When the government removes Alex s power to choose his own moral
course of action, Alex becomes nothing more than a thing, something like a machine, something as
unnatural as a clockwork orange (Novelguide, 2015:2). It is suggested that Burgess believes that an evil
Alex is a human Alex, and therefore he prefers the evil Alex to an Alex who has been programmed to
deny his own nature (Scaruso, 2015:1). The chaplain presents the Christian concept of morality, and
sums up Burgess s position very concisely, when he explains to Alex that: When a man cannot choose,
he ceases to be a man (Burgess, 2013:169). F. Alexander echoes this sentiment from a different
philosophical viewpoint, however, when he tells Alex that the treatment has: Turned him into
something other a human being. He has no power of choice any longer. You are committed to socially
accepted acts, a little machine capable only of good (Burgess, 2013:173). Burgess s novel ultimately
supports the conception of morality as a matter of choice and determination and argues that good
behaviour is meaningless if one does not actively choose goodness (Sparknotes,

A Report On Traditional Neighbourhood Search Methods
Initial Population: We originally decide the size of the population, and then the method by which the
members for the population are chosen. The primary idea of the size of the population always forms a
trade off between the efficiency and the effectiveness of GA implementation. In general, it appears that
there should be some ideal value for a given length or size of the population, on the grounds that too
little a population would not permit adequate opportunity for exploring the search space effectively,
while too big a population would damage the efficiency of the approach that no solution could be
expected in an realistic amount of time limit [15]. Termination Condition: Traditional neighbourhood
search methods are simple in the sense that they terminate when a local optimum is encountered. On
the other hand, GAs are blind search stochastic optimization techniques that could in principle run for
endlessly, but could converge fast to the solution with right termination criteria set. In practice, a
termination criterion is mandatory to prevent the iterations get infinite; the common practices are to set
a limit on the number of fitness evaluations or the computation time consumed, or to track the
variability in the population and stop when this falls below a pre set boundary value. The meaning of
diversity in the latter case is not always apparent, and it could relate either to the genotype or the
phenotype, but the most effective way is through a measure of the

resigning from my position as Assistant Project Manager with Layne Christensen. This is not an easy
decision but I have to do what is best for my family. When I accepted this position, I was under the
impression that I would be evaluated after a six month period. I took a pay cut of approximately
$10,000 annually to accept a role in the office. I had to adjust our budget to accept this position, but I
knew it would pay off in the future. I bet on myself and my work ethic as I always do, and I was
positive I would prove to everyone that I could handle a bigger role. I believe I did that in a shorter
period than anyone was anticipating. Then came marriage, a second kid, hospital bills, etc. ... Show

I obviously did not get it, and Jordan has done a great job of handling this role. I was offered a position
in the field, and I felt this was a pivotal moment that would lead me to success in the future with Layne.
I worked in the field for approximately six months, and I do not regret this decision as I was able to
learn the industry from the ground up. I learned many things that are not taught in the office. When you
start from the bottom, you have a better understanding and a deeper appreciation for the dangers and
obstacles our guys face on a daily basis in the field. You also learn the importance of having things
scheduled accordingly and receiving quick solutions from office

Ce Dunbar-Nelson
Many women dream far grander dreams than what is expected of them. The speaker of Alice Moore
Dunbar Nelson s poem, I Sit and Sew , is one such woman. She frequents the idea of how idle and
pointless sewing is and with the war going on there are much more important things she could be
doing. This creates the theme that not all women want to do what is expected of them. This theme is
shown through her use of diction and repetition. One way Dunbar Nelson develops this theme is
through her word choice, or diction. Throughout the poem the author includes specific words to help
show every emotion the speaker feels and also her opinion on her situation. This is shown in the quote
... My soul in pity flings / Appealing cries, yearning only to go (Dunbar Nelson 11 12). In these lines a
reader can feel her longing by her word choice of pity, appealing, and yearning. These words are crucial
to the theme because they show just how badly she wants to be involved instead of sitting at home.
Without the poet s use of diction the reader might not interpret the speaker s true feelings. ... Show

She repeats the phrase But I must sit and sew (Dunbar Nelson 7, 14). Again the author uses diction in
these lines by using the word must to show the reader her true meaning. By repeating this line the
reader can understand her frustration because although she wants to help she is forced to perform a
domestic task simply because she is a woman. She also changes this phrase into a question in the final
line to emphasize to the reader that while she is forced to perform an unimportant task, people are
dying at war and she can t do anything to help. By using repetition Dunbar Nelson exaggerates and
showcases not only a woman s resentment of her job, but also her struggle for

A Life Changing Experience Of My Writing In Arabic And Arabic
I reminisce when it was time for me to learn to read and write Arabic. Other than being the language of
my home country, it is also the language of Islam. Both of my parents are Muslim and very
nationalistic about their country Sudan. Due to me being a first generation American, English was my
first language. Sooner or later I had to learn how to read and write in Arabic.
As I started my journey of studying Arabic, I faced obstacles such as various tutors struggling to teach
me properly, being stressed out when not being able to understand. Over the years I finally learned to
read and write Arabic very proficiently. I found a love for the language that helped me connect with my
roots and religion. A life changing experience that shaped who I am today. My parents love Sudan and
Islam very much, my dad would always teach me new things about Sudan and Islam when I was
growing up, and read to me Islamic story books about our prophets. Each evening me and my dad
would read the stories together, he used to interpret the Arabic to English so that I could comprehend. I
remember observing the books that were printed in Arabic, thinking to myself how cursive the letters
look to me. I would be amazed that my dad was reading these sentences that looked strange to me.
Baba how are you reading this so good? I would say to my dad and he would just glance at me and
smile. Deep down in my father s pure heart I knew he did not like the fact that his eldest child didn t

Inclusive Education Summary
Summary
Inclusive education is about providing the best possible learning environment for students with
disabilities. The purpose of the article was to determine the disposition, skills, and knowledge of both
general and special education teachers as well as the school environment. The research suggests that
teachers must have open mindedness and be self aware when they teach in an inclusive classroom.
Many teachers provided answers that suggest that they understand the need and have the willingness
but lack the skills and knowledge while some simply lack the needed disposition to work with children
with disabilities. As a result, we can see that there is a need to further develop teacher s professional
skills as well as developing the emotional fortitude that is required to be effective at teaching in a
inclusive classroom. Literature Review Inclusive education is defined as an appropriate learning
environment for students with disabilities while in the general education (Lamar Dukes and Dukes
2005). We have seen more and more students with disabilities being placed in inclusive environments
around the U.S and abroad (Cramer and Nevin 2006; Etscheldt 2006; Lindsay 2007; US Department of
Education 2007). Because of this integration of diverse student populations there is a need to have more
welcoming school environments, appropriate resources both in and outside the classroom, and qualified
professionals willing and able to meet the needs of

On China By Henry Kissinger Chapter Summary
On China by Henry Kissinger
On China completely changed my view on China and how to deal with future. Before reading this
book, I believed that China was now the United States biggest adversary. Kissinger made the point that
hostile relations or treating China as a threat would make both situations worse. My thoughts on China
all revolved around one major misconception: the aspiration for world domination. Unlike the Germans
in the 1940s or the Soviets during the Cold War, China doesn t want to rule the world. The Chinese
believe that they are the Middle Kingdom. China is the center of the world and everyone else are
barbarians. The Chinese feel no need to conquer the world, instead they believe that the world will
learn from them. Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Will our relations with China be better or worse after the Trump administration?
How will the next generation deal with China? Will we see them as an ally or a threat? Kissinger s
voice is strangely clear in this book. I believe this is because he experienced much of what is written
first hand. Instead of writing based off of research, Kissinger gets to interject many of his opinions
along with observations. His writing style is quite advanced, but not in a way that confused me very
much. I only realized the difficulty of this book when reading it out loud because even though the
words were advanced, the concepts behind them were portrayed so clearly that it didn t take much
contemplating to understand them. On China was important for me to read because it changed my view
on China, Asia, and world politics in general. Kissinger revealed many important ideas that shifted my
view of China from an adversary to a nation we should cooperate with. I am now more informed of
how the world works and what the future might

Non Farming Regulations
I have always lived on or around farms or some sort of agriculture. My family s heritage is made up of
small town American farmers who emigrated from Germany in the early to mid 1800s to start a new
life. The farm of my fourth great grandparents is still being used today and it still plays an important
role in our agriculturally strong society. Certain regulations can hurt farmers all over the country,
enacting crippling problems and expenses on farms. Over the past three summers I have worked on
farms near my hometown. I have seen first hand how rules and regulations can affect a farm and the
production of products that farmers use to make a living. Some of the time, farmers have it rough. I

Developmental Theories That Assist Social Workers Essay
Developmental theories are integral to a social workers approach when working with children, and
families as they help to guide and explain situations and behaviours. As social workers have an ethical
and professional responsibility to their clients, they need to have an established set of guiding theories
which underpin their practice. If they work without these theories, they could place their clients at risk
of harm by practising from personal assumptions. They also help the social worker understand and
manage these situations and to reach the desired outcomes. As suggested by Teater (2014), Theory is an
essential ingredient in practice that guides the way in which social workers view and approach
individuals, groups, communities and society (Chap 1, p.1). This report will identify and focus on three
important developmental theories that assist social workers in their practice. These consist of work by
Erikson, Bowlby and Piaget. Erikson s theory focuses on the model of life stage development; Piaget s
theory focuses on the cognitive processes while Bowlby s theory focuses on attachment. Despite these
theories representing different aspects of social science, they all have the same guiding principle of
development. Once the social worker has identified the relevant theory required, they then use a model
to implement the theory. This report will examine and discuss the Collaborative Family Work Model.
The Collaborative Family Work Model works in a step by step approach

Department of Transportation had on responding the tremendous amounts of letter and e mails.
Therefore, Steve began implementing new strategies to improve the Department of Transportation

that the number of complaints has not diminished significantly, he came to a conclusion. The
conclusion that Steve came to is that the root of the problem is the absence of cooperation among

The Relationship between Culture and Religion in The Indus River Valley Civilization The rise and fall
of different civilizations and empires is caused by various social, political, and cultural factors that
affect its societies. One of the most important concepts seen in empires are the creation of its culture
and its relation to the beliefs of its society. Religion plays an enormous role in understanding the
purpose behind the actions of the people in a civilization. Religion and culture are dependent of each
other as it reflects the ideas and values that society has agreed upon. As a new urban civilization during

There is very little information about the religious beliefs in the Indus civilization. Artifacts that were
found in trading, such as the seals and ornaments, were interpreted as ritual objects. However, there is
little proof that they were used in worship of deities. Instead, their belief system mirrored their structure
of government. Kenoyer (1991) explains that the Harappan culture was based on a socio ritual belief
system. In this system, the seals, ornaments, and other ritual objects that were traded between regions
represented the regions of people using similar objects. Similarly, burials sites and cemeteries showed
patterns of every major region. However, not all of the regions practiced burial. Therefore, these sites
do not represent the belief of the society. Some regions practiced cremation or exposure. Overall, the
socio ritual belief became an important part of the Indus society in which it reflected and maintained its
social hierarchy within different regions. This system of government and beliefs ultimately ended the
Indus civilization during what was defined as the Localization Era (Shaffer, 1991 as cited in Keynoyer,
1991). In the article, Kenoyer highlights the causes of the downfall during this era. One of the major
causes was the expansion of settlements which in turn increased regional organizations. Because of
this, different regions fought and conquered other regions. Kenoyer provides an example of the regions

In American society, wealth has played a particularly significant role in shaping the culture and
standards set for our country. With every dilemma that has occurred, money was been an underlying
deciding factor in the end. John.F.Kennedy makes this very clear in his statement on lowering the
prices of steel, all the way Jennifer Price s take on people being obsessed with a money, even Scott
Russell s article on the status quo Americans believe determines one s happiness and success. All of
these passages tie together to show just how money influences our very own society.

Football is a classic American pastime that has been thrilling spectators for decades. As with all sports,
rules are established in football to avoid potential dangers. One of the most serious risks associated
with football is concussions. A concussion is a hit induced injury that causes any sort of malfunction in
the brain. When the brain does not function properly, a person is exposed to a mental degradation that
can result in a loss of self being and independence. Concussions are becoming the main suspect for
mental challenges in football players as the result of an overlooked modern game. First, the primary
causes of concussions in football are players competing with a history of brain injury, the size of

In addition, Purdue University studied high school football players and noted that one team member
was hit with an impact of over two hundred and eighty times the force of gravity (Vendantam). Each of
these factors working either independently or creatively can result in a concussion which in turn can
jeopardize the mental stability of its victim. Next, a major effect of concussions is impulsive or
irregular behavior which can be defined by aggression, memory loss, and suicide. Irritability is an
outcome that not only negatively affects the individual, but those around them as well. For example,
Michael (fictitious name) was hit during a high school football game in his freshman year and instantly
experienced many concussion symptoms, including a contentious temper; he and his family continue to
suffer the consequences of his concussion (Kluger 46). Boston University also conducted a study
emphasizing the result of aggression due to concussive blows (Lowry 9). Memory loss is another
detrimental post concussive effect and it can be more easily identified by medical conditions such as
dementia and Alzheimer s disease. For instance, the NFL held a study in September of 2009 and

Potential Therapeutics For Treating Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Bromophenols have been identified as potential therapeutics for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus
(T2DM) due to their suspected tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) inhibitory activity. A new series of
bromophenol analogues will be synthesised and their PTP1B inhibitory activity will be tested in in vitro
enzymatic assays to elucidate their mechanism of action as PTP1B inhibitors.
Background and Introduction
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease that is caused by insulin resistance of the
peripheral tissues and impaired insulin secretion of the pancreatic β cells.1 Both conditions result in
reduced glycemic control, which can lead to hyperglycemia. Despite the availability of a wide range of

Bromophenols have attracted much attention as potential PTP1B inhibitors due to their suspected anti
diabetic activity.4 Bromophenols occur naturally in marine organisms such as algae, mollusks and
jellyfish. (±) Polysiphenol (1, figure 1) is an example of a bromophenol that can be extracted from the
marine algae Polisiphonia Ferulecea.5 After the Braddock group successfully achieved the first total
synthesis of (±) polysiphenol and the separation of its enantiomers, they collaborated with the
Woscholski group to test their inhibitory activity in PTP1B enzymatic assays.6,7 Both enantiomers of
polysiphenol were essentially found to be identical in PTP1B inhibitory activity. Thus polysiphenol, as
single enantiomers, cannot be responsible for the observed inhibition. This implicates a chemical
change of polysiphenol into a non chiral form is likely to take place under the conditions of the assay.
One possibility is the formation of a para quinone methide species (4, figure 1), which in turn can
tautomerise into an ortho quinone methide species (5, figure 1). Thus there are various possible reactive
species that might be responsible for the observed inhibition of PTP1B. The formation of quinones
highlights a red flag in drug discovery due to their highly reactive nature. Quinones are Michael
acceptors that are known to cause toxicity in vivo by covalently binding to nucleophilic sites on
proteins and DNA.8 Consequently, quinones

Causes Of The Salem Witchcraft Hysteria
I think the leading factors in the Salem witchcraft hysteria were politics, religion, superstition, and
acting. All the accusations made during the trials and examinations were based off of spectral evidence
and what twelve year olds were saying. However, during the time period all the children were seen as
good Christian children. Perhaps more common sense could have been used, but since the town was
run based off of religion the priest s word was like the law. But one key fact was that a number of
people were opposed to the minister. The only reason that he was there was because more people that
could vote wanted him there. Politics played a major role because in the movie, Three Sovereigns For
Sarah, it was said that Rebecca s family had come into possession of land and power too quickly for the
liking of the other people. It was a time when if you owned land you could vote and that fact was
threatening to some people. It was political family feuds that fuel the accusations. Many of the accused
were trying to buy land and not everybody had the same views on things as others. A single vote for the
other side threatened the prosperity of some. By having the afflicted accuse the people that were trying
to become landowners, they were ensuring their own wealth. Knowing or being related to an afflicted
had its perks. Most of the accused were given an examination and then they were sent to the jail to wait
for a trial date. For some the day came soon while others had

The Two Pieces Of Paintings
The two pieces of artworks from the list of sacred places I chose to compare were the Ziggurat of Ur in
Iraq and the Great Stupa in India. The first piece of Artwork was originally located in the city of Ur, it
is called the Ziggurat of Ur. The Ziggurat of Ur was built by the Sumerians. The Sumerians were the
first group of people in Mesopotamia, known as the cradle of civilization. They invented the first form
of writing known as cuneiform, along with the wheel. Sumerians worshipped many Gods and
Goddesses in temples or located in ziggurats (Gateways to Art, 2012, p.371). Ziggurats are known as
Mesopotamian temples or pyramids that grew in size toward the bottom, constructed from mud and
bricks. The Ziggurats were man made mountains which housed Gods and Goddesses. The Ziggurats of
Ur happen to resemble the Egyptian pyramids however they weren t produced to specifically to bury
the decease. The authors of Gateways to Art summarizes: The architectural design of the Ziggurats of
Ur is mudbrick structures made up of three stepped levels, accessed by stairways or ramps...the lowest
level is about 50ft. high and about 210 by 150 ft. in area, with others decreasing in size as they get
closer to the heavens...while the topmost platform is more than 100 ft. high (Dewitte, Larmann,

customers who wanted to browse prices. If clients did not want to buy a policy, the y had a difficult
time weighing their options. This may have caused some of these clients to not purchase the

The worst issue is that many health care providers reported that they received duplicate applications

This isn t surprising considering that the cost of college tuition has been been rising almost three times
as fast as inflation. When college students graduate, they are tied down by their debt and aren t able to
do anything with their life until they have paid it all off. Debt puts life on hold for these students. Could
you imagine moving back in with your parents at the age of 24 or 25 or maybe even closer to your
thirties? According to the American Student Assistance Survey, 27% of college graduates said that they
had no choice but to move back in with their parents to be able to afford the cost of living with their
student loans. In another survey, around 30% of graduates said they were delaying marriage because of
their immense amount of debt (Life Delayed: The Impact of Student Debt on the Daily Lives of
Americans). Could you imagine pushing the rest of your life off because you owed so much money?
How does that seem right? How are we supposed to make a decision between drowning in debt or
suffocating? Situations like this not only affect the graduates themselves, but also the economy of our

How Did Littlewood Influence The Style Of Theatre
Born on 6th October, 1914 in South London, Joan Littlewood rejected the standard performance style
of theatre in the 1900s (as a form of escapism from the war) and replaced in with a style of theatre
which experimented with contemporary social issues amongst a working class audience.
Once completing her studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) Littlewood founded
numerous theatre companies around the UK during the 1930s and 40s including: Theatre Union,
Theatre of Action and Theatre Workshop. Namely, Theatre Workshop s performances became very
successful after moving from Manchester to Stratford (in the East End of London). Originally, their
performances were either Shakespearean, other classics, or controversial plays which were written or
adapted by Littlewood s husband, Jimmy Miller this was before Joan Littlewood developed her own
style of performance [ Agitprop ]
Agitprop is political propaganda promulgated chiefly in literature, drama, music, or art. {definition by
Merriam Webster}

A usual feature of many of Joan Littlewood s works are the costumes, in many of her agitprop pieces
the actors dress as pierrot clowns. This helps her to reinforce her political ideas and views into her
pieces. Such as in Oh What a Lovely War , the soldiers who fought in World War One. This makes
these men seem foolish, and they embody the characteristics of a mime (a sad clown) due to the lies
they have been told about the war through the propaganda encouraging young men to sign up and fight
for their country. In contrast to this, real statistics, images and songs are used in this performance to
show Littlewood s outrage against the deception that was used against these

Analysis Of Quixote s Soldiers By Cesar Chavez Essay
Depicted on the cover of Quixote s Soldiers is a group of Mexican American men and women in protest
formation. They carry with them signs that say Justice for La Raza, Ando sangrando igual que tu, and
Cops out of our communities! David Montejano argues that Mexican American reform groups are often
left out of the Civil Rights Movement taught in a classroom. San Antonio was the birthplace of the
Chicano movement. Here, various organizations were formed to encourage the government to increase
Mexican Americans opportunities in the educational field as well as in the work field. The Brown
Power movement campaigned for Mexican Americans to reject assimilation into the American
mainstream society, and celebrate their Chicano history. La Causa, or The Cause of this movement,
began as farm worker strikes in California and Southwest region. (Montejano, 10) Farmworkers
demanded fair wages and suitable working conditions, but they also faced inequality outside of the
workplace. Inspired by Cesar Chavez, young Chicanos in San Antonio began to form organizations that
would challenge the injustice and inequality treatment they faced as citizens of the United States. The
Civil Rights Movement of African Americans also impacted and influenced the young generation of the
Chicano Movement. They shared one common enemy: the white elite. Their basic rights as a citizen
were being withheld and they organized to fight to retrieve them. The West and South regions of San

Response For Young Goodman Brown
Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne can be interpreted in one of two ways. Some people
believe it was all just one big bad dream, others believe it actually happened. Either way you interpret it
can be right, there isn t a right or wrong answer, you just have to support your answers. I believe that it
was all a dream, and Young Goodman Brown woke up with a completely corrupt mind that cost him his
life. This is because Goodman Brown s good friends never even acknowledged him, his wife who
wanted him to stay home was out there, and everything was normal when he woke up.
Young Goodman Brown was only dreaming the whole time. I honestly believe that the whole entire
story was a dream all up until the part where he woke up and went into the town. Although, when he
woke up, his life was already ruined and his mind was already 100% corrupt. Young Goodman Brown
thought that everyone was devil worshippers because he saw them out at the devil meeting in the ...

This is part of the reason why I think it was just a dream. You would think if people he knew, and was
good friends with were in the forest with him, they would at least acknowledge him. In the story, it says
that Goodman saw Goody Cloyse and he was so surprised about her being out there. That is when
everybody else started showing up and he thought it was more than a dream.
The part that leads me to believe that is was a dream even more, is that his wife was so upset that he
was leaving the house to go out into the forest. She basically begged him to stay but he was too
stubborn and decided to go after thinking about it long and hard. His wife, Faith, was wearing a little
pink ribbon in her hair right before he left for the woods. After he saw Goody Cloyse, and then seeing
the other towns members, Goodman Brown spots a little pink ribbon laying on the ground, the same
one that Faith was wearing before he

Executive summary
The research group has undertaken an analysis of Fortescue Metal Group Limited ( FMG ). The
analysis consists of two parts. Part 1 includes a macro economic analysis which reviews FMG s
economic environment and how this impacted on its performance during the years ended 30 June
2008 to 30 June 2012. During this period FMG s performance was primarily driven by an overall

Through analysis and evaluation of models and approaches within counselling and psychotherapy therapeutic delivery, explain how models and approaches relate to client need, therapeutic context and aims and objectives of the therapy. Psychotherapists will be educated in various different models and whether they are approaching a client through the concept of observing external behaviours, the Behaviourist approach for example in which a therapist will look to condition new behaviours, or through the idea of internal behaviour, such as the Psychodynamic approach and believing the unconscious needs to be divulged, the aim of all approaches is to enable the client to lead a positive and prosperous life, in the words of Carl Rogers, as a ... Despite these differences between the Humanistic and Psychodynamic approach it has to be acknowledged that in certain situations the two approaches can be combined, depending on the client s diagnosis. • 3. Accounting Paper Introduction In recent decades, the global economy has undergone a rapid transformation, from an economy driven by traditional hard assets plants, warehouses and the like , to an economy driven by patents, software, intellectual property, and brands. These items fall into a category that has become hugely important in the world of financial reporting, intangible assets . Increasingly, the value of a firm is derived not from its tangible assets such as stock, property, plant and equipment but by its knowledge capital, its employees, even by its business processes. As Baruch Lev notes in 2001: Pfizer s value comes from its discovery activities (drug development, patents, trademarks), and from an unusually effective sale force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were able to conclude that the usefulness of reported earnings, cash flows, and book (equity) values has been deteriorating over the years . The decline in the usefulness of accounting is a result of the difficulties in measuring an internally developed intangible asset, firstly how does one assign a value to knowledge capital, secondly, what is the fair value of this capital if no exchange has taken place? In the interest of conservatism and reliability, regulators require all investments in R amp;D to be immediately expensed. This creates a problem since the benefits of this research are not realized until a later period, thus the concept of matching goes out the window. This increased expenditure resulting from R amp;D expenditure distorts earnings on the income statement. In the event of a merger or an acquisition (M amp;A), in accordance with APB Opinion 17, any excess amount paid over the book value for a firm would be listed under the catch all term goodwill which was amortized over 40 years. As a result of these regulation standards, the gap between the market value of technology firms and their book value became ever larger. Efforts to Improve Financial Reporting The dangers of this ineffective accounting for intangibles were brought into a stark light in 2001 following the collapse of energy giant Enron, which once had been widely considered to be one of ... The Frighteners directed by Peter Jackson and co written with his wife, Fran Walsh. A lot of people don t know that Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh conceived the idea for The Frighteners during the script writing phase of Heavenly Creatures. The Frighteners was a spin off film of to the television series, Tales from the Crypt. But after Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh s first draft it was agreed that the script would be better of as a movie than a tv series The visual effects were created by Jackson s Weta Digital, which had only been in existence for three years. And the fact that The Frighteners required more digital effects shots than almost any movie made until that time, resulted in the eighteen month period for effects work by Weta Digital being largely stressed. Despite a rushed post production schedule, Universal was so impressed with Jackson s rough cut on The Frighteners, the studio moved the theatrical release date closer by four months. The film was not a box office success, but received generally positive reviews from critics. Despite its lackluster performance at the box office, the film has gained a cult following in more recent years. The Frighteners is also Fox s last leading role in a live action feature film; Fox then went on to a four year run on the television series Spin City before semi retiring in 2000 due to the effects of ... The Chinese government has embraced a series of strategic policies to address the challenge of economic globalization. This included stimulating the agricultural sector to allow them to sell a percentage on the free trade market yet hold a competitive position. In addition to this citizens were given money incentives and tax breaks in order to start new businesses and allocated regions were created to encourage high levels of investment, increase exports and increase technology levels. • 7. The Trans Atlantic Slave Trade The history of the Trans Atlantic slave trade is more readily accessible and popular, as opposed to the history of the Viking slavers. Painter points out that the Vikings were hardly viewed in popular culture as the preeminent slavers they really were, while Dublin was the slave market capitol of the world from the 11th through the 15th centuries. Whites living in the current day British Isles through France and Scandinavia were all subject to slave raids by Vikings for hundreds of years with some destitute individuals going as far as to sell themselves into slavery. While the Atlantic Slave Trade used racism to justify their exploitation, it is important to realize that this is a justification birthed out of economic greed rather then inherit racist sentiment. Economic advancement was the purpose of the slave trade while race creation and whiteness were constructs built to support and justify this economic exploitation during the Atlantic Slave Trade. Unfortunately, due the indoctrinated justifications of race creation; racism, prejudice and the prevalence of whiteness became magnified and held up as superior social standing. The word Caucasian, which has been used to describe white people for nearly 220 years was brought into popularity in Lower Saxony, the Germanic providence, in 1795 and is attributed to a German doctor and scholar by the name of Johann Friedrich Blumenbach. Iraq was colonized by Great Britain in particular, British efforts to colonize and govern Iraq were miscalculated and self serving, resulting in the creation of an unbalanced and violent nation, divided along ethic and separation lines of many different ethnic backgrounds. The failures of the Cairo Conference along with the lack of understanding between Britain s understanding of the Arab nationalist movement and the appointment of Faisal as King, have led to conflict and violence as unity has been disabled within the country. Conflict in Iraq can be contributed to early colonization/westernization and Al Qaeda. Early colonization within Iraq and the British rule over Iraq created a lot of turmoil and uncertainty within the country. During the infamous World War 1 the British attacked the Ottoman Empire in Iraq, Britain came in with a bang and wanted to put its own influence on the country immediately. The British army sought out local sheikhs to implement power over the population. The British had hoped to empower the Sheikhs by giving them the authority to arrest criminals and collect taxes based on their own set of beliefs, and in return the British decided to give the Sheikhs subsidies and weapons and would even sometimes lend them soldiers. Nationalist aspects of understanding were put into force by Iraq at the time, but British rule quickly eliminated any talk of nationalism within Iraq. With not many people ... Solution Of Water Pollution Introduction People usually don t check the water they drink before drinking it because they trust that just because it is in the bottle, water fountain, refrigerator (etc.) that it is free of pollutants, but that is not always the case. Water pollution in drinking water is very common and dangerous because the bacteria/pollutants can cause health problems that lead to death. There are a variety of diseases and bacterias that lead to the health problems. What is water pollution? Water pollution is generally described as a contaminated body of water. Water pollution is caused by pollutants like chemicals and compounds. The Georgia Holt Environmental Science Textbook defines water pollution as the introduction of chemicals, physical, or biological agents into water that degrades water quality and adversely affect the organisms that depend on water. These waters can be lakes, swamps, oceans, gulfs, rivers, aquifer and etc. Almost all water pollution comes from industrialization and rapid population growth. Water pollution affects every aspect of life from humans, plants, and animals. Water makes up 70% of the earth so water pollution affects animal life such as the animals that live in water are affected because they can become sick and die off and can affect the rest of the food chain which can affect the humans that eat them. In his novel A clockwork orange, Anthony Burgess explores contradiction/duality as a ultimate reality. His understanding of this phrase reflects the world as a set of fundamental and coequal oppositions of forces, and this is evident throughout the novel (Sparknotes, 2015:1). In the following essay we will be exploring the concept of contradictions/duality as portrayed in the novella by referring to the following contradictions namely; good versus evil, commitment versus neutrality, free will versus the Clockwork orange , man versus government, youth versus maturity and intellect versus intuition. Burgess expresses the idea that a man cannot be completely good or evil and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The novel revolves around what happens when a person s free will is taken away (Novelguide, 2015:2). Alex asserts his free will by choosing a course of wickedness, but he is subsequently robbed of his self determination by the governments implementation of the Ludovico Technique upon him (Sparknotes, 2015:1). By making Alex a ruthless and wicked criminal, Burgess argues that humanity must, at any cost, insist that individuals be allowed to make their own moral choices, even if that freedom results in depravity (Sparknotes, 2015:1). When the government removes Alex s power to choose his own moral course of action, Alex becomes nothing more than a thing, something like a machine, something as unnatural as a clockwork orange (Novelguide, 2015:2). It is suggested that Burgess believes that an evil Alex is a human Alex, and therefore he prefers the evil Alex to an Alex who has been programmed to deny his own nature (Scaruso, 2015:1). The chaplain presents the Christian concept of morality, and sums up Burgess s position very concisely, when he explains to Alex that: When a man cannot choose, he ceases to be a man (Burgess, 2013:169). F. Alexander echoes this sentiment from a different philosophical viewpoint, however, when he tells Alex that the treatment has: Turned him into something other a human being. He has no power of choice any longer. You are committed to socially accepted acts, a little machine capable only of good (Burgess, 2013:173). Burgess s novel ultimately supports the conception of morality as a matter of choice and determination and argues that good behaviour is meaningless if one does not actively choose goodness (Sparknotes, ... • 20. A Report On Traditional Neighbourhood Search Methods Initial Population: We originally decide the size of the population, and then the method by which the members for the population are chosen. The primary idea of the size of the population always forms a trade off between the efficiency and the effectiveness of GA implementation. In general, it appears that there should be some ideal value for a given length or size of the population, on the grounds that too little a population would not permit adequate opportunity for exploring the search space effectively, while too big a population would damage the efficiency of the approach that no solution could be expected in an realistic amount of time limit [15]. Termination Condition: Traditional neighbourhood search methods are simple in the sense that they terminate when a local optimum is encountered. On the other hand, GAs are blind search stochastic optimization techniques that could in principle run for endlessly, but could converge fast to the solution with right termination criteria set. In practice, a termination criterion is mandatory to prevent the iterations get infinite; the common practices are to set a limit on the number of fitness evaluations or the computation time consumed, or to track the variability in the population and stop when this falls below a pre set boundary value. The meaning of diversity in the latter case is not always apparent, and it could relate either to the genotype or the phenotype, but the most effective way is through a measure of the ... Assistant Project Manager Cover Letter Essay Bill/Jordan, I am writing to notify you that I am regretfully providing two weeks notice and will be resigning from my position as Assistant Project Manager with Layne Christensen. This is not an easy decision but I have to do what is best for my family. When I accepted this position, I was under the impression that I would be evaluated after a six month period. I took a pay cut of approximately $10,000 annually to accept a role in the office. I had to adjust our budget to accept this position, but I knew it would pay off in the future. • 24. Ce Dunbar-Nelson Many women dream far grander dreams than what is expected of them. The speaker of Alice Moore Dunbar Nelson s poem, I Sit and Sew , is one such woman. She frequents the idea of how idle and pointless sewing is and with the war going on there are much more important things she could be doing. This creates the theme that not all women want to do what is expected of them. This theme is shown through her use of diction and repetition. One way Dunbar Nelson develops this theme is through her word choice, or diction. Throughout the poem the author includes specific words to help show every emotion the speaker feels and also her opinion on her situation. This is shown in the quote ... My soul in pity flings / Appealing cries, yearning only to go (Dunbar Nelson 11 12). In these lines a reader can feel her longing by her word choice of pity, appealing, and yearning. These words are crucial to the theme because they show just how badly she wants to be involved instead of sitting at home. Without the poet s use of diction the reader might not interpret the speaker s true feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also changes this phrase into a question in the final line to emphasize to the reader that while she is forced to perform an unimportant task, people are dying at war and she can t do anything to help. Other than being the language of my home country, it is also the language of Islam. Both of my parents are Muslim and very nationalistic about their country Sudan. Due to me being a first generation American, English was my first language. Sooner or later I had to learn how to read and write in Arabic. As I started my journey of studying Arabic, I faced obstacles such as various tutors struggling to teach me properly, being stressed out when not being able to understand. Over the years I finally learned to read and write Arabic very proficiently. I found a love for the language that helped me connect with my roots and religion. A life changing experience that shaped who I am today. My parents love Sudan and Islam very much, my dad would always teach me new things about Sudan and Islam when I was growing up, and read to me Islamic story books about our prophets. Each evening me and my dad would read the stories together, he used to interpret the Arabic to English so that I could comprehend. I remember observing the books that were printed in Arabic, thinking to myself how cursive the letters look to me. I would be amazed that my dad was reading these sentences that looked strange to me. • 26. Inclusive Education Summary Summary Inclusive education is about providing the best possible learning environment for students with disabilities. The purpose of the article was to determine the disposition, skills, and knowledge of both general and special education teachers as well as the school environment. The research suggests that teachers must have open mindedness and be self aware when they teach in an inclusive classroom. Many teachers provided answers that suggest that they understand the need and have the willingness but lack the skills and knowledge while some simply lack the needed disposition to work with children with disabilities. As a result, we can see that there is a need to further develop teacher s professional skills as well as developing the emotional fortitude that is required to be effective at teaching in a inclusive classroom. Literature Review Inclusive education is defined as an appropriate learning environment for students with disabilities while in the general education (Lamar Dukes and Dukes 2005). We have seen more and more students with disabilities being placed in inclusive environments around the U.S and abroad (Cramer and Nevin 2006; Etscheldt 2006; Lindsay 2007; US Department of Education 2007). Because of this integration of diverse student populations there is a need to have more welcoming school environments, appropriate resources both in and outside the classroom, and qualified professionals willing and able to meet the needs of ... Before reading this book, I believed that China was now the United States biggest adversary. Kissinger made the point that hostile relations or treating China as a threat would make both situations worse. My thoughts on China all revolved around one major misconception: the aspiration for world domination. Unlike the Germans in the 1940s or the Soviets during the Cold War, China doesn t want to rule the world. The Chinese believe that they are the Middle Kingdom. China is the center of the world and everyone else are barbarians. The Chinese feel no need to conquer the world, instead they believe that the world will learn from them. Their ... Instead of writing based off of research, Kissinger gets to interject many of his opinions along with observations. His writing style is quite advanced, but not in a way that confused me very much. I only realized the difficulty of this book when reading it out loud because even though the words were advanced, the concepts behind them were portrayed so clearly that it didn t take much contemplating to understand them. On China was important for me to read because it changed my view on China, Asia, and world politics in general. Developmental Theories That Assist Social Workers Essay Developmental theories are integral to a social workers approach when working with children, and families as they help to guide and explain situations and behaviours. As social workers have an ethical and professional responsibility to their clients, they need to have an established set of guiding theories which underpin their practice. If they work without these theories, they could place their clients at risk of harm by practising from personal assumptions. They also help the social worker understand and manage these situations and to reach the desired outcomes. As suggested by Teater (2014), Theory is an essential ingredient in practice that guides the way in which social workers view and approach individuals, groups, communities and society (Chap 1, p.1). This report will identify and focus on three important developmental theories that assist social workers in their practice. These consist of work by Erikson, Bowlby and Piaget. Erikson s theory focuses on the model of life stage development; Piaget s theory focuses on the cognitive processes while Bowlby s theory focuses on attachment. Despite these theories representing different aspects of social science, they all have the same guiding principle of development. Once the social worker has identified the relevant theory required, they then use a model to implement the theory. This report will examine and discuss the Collaborative Family Work Model. There is very little information about the religious beliefs in the Indus civilization. Artifacts that were found in trading, such as the seals and ornaments, were interpreted as ritual objects. However, there is little proof that they were used in worship of deities. Instead, their belief system mirrored their structure of government. Kenoyer (1991) explains that the Harappan culture was based on a socio ritual belief system. In this system, the seals, ornaments, and other ritual objects that were traded between regions represented the regions of people using similar objects. Similarly, burials sites and cemeteries showed patterns of every major region. However, not all of the regions practiced burial. Therefore, these sites do not represent the belief of the society. Some regions practiced cremation or exposure. Overall, the socio ritual belief became an important part of the Indus society in which it reflected and maintained its social hierarchy within different regions. This system of government and beliefs ultimately ended the Indus civilization during what was defined as the Localization Era (Shaffer, 1991 as cited in Keynoyer, 1991). Next, a major effect of concussions is impulsive or irregular behavior which can be defined by aggression, memory loss, and suicide. For example, Michael (fictitious name) was hit during a high school football game in his freshman year and instantly experienced many concussion symptoms, including a contentious temper; he and his family continue to suffer the consequences of his concussion (Kluger 46). Bromophenols have attracted much attention as potential PTP1B inhibitors due to their suspected anti diabetic activity.4 Bromophenols occur naturally in marine organisms such as algae, mollusks and jellyfish. (±) Polysiphenol (1, figure 1) is an example of a bromophenol that can be extracted from the marine algae Polisiphonia Ferulecea.5 After the Braddock group successfully achieved the first total synthesis of (±) polysiphenol and the separation of its enantiomers, they collaborated with the Woscholski group to test their inhibitory activity in PTP1B enzymatic assays.6,7 Both enantiomers of polysiphenol were essentially found to be identical in PTP1B inhibitory activity. Thus polysiphenol, as single enantiomers, cannot be responsible for the observed inhibition. This implicates a chemical change of polysiphenol into a non chiral form is likely to take place under the conditions of the assay. One possibility is the formation of a para quinone methide species (4, figure 1), which in turn can tautomerise into an ortho quinone methide species (5, figure 1). Thus there are various possible reactive species that might be responsible for the observed inhibition of PTP1B. • 38. Causes Of The Salem Witchcraft Hysteria I think the leading factors in the Salem witchcraft hysteria were politics, religion, superstition, and acting. All the accusations made during the trials and examinations were based off of spectral evidence and what twelve year olds were saying. However, during the time period all the children were seen as good Christian children. Perhaps more common sense could have been used, but since the town was run based off of religion the priest s word was like the law. But one key fact was that a number of people were opposed to the minister. The only reason that he was there was because more people that could vote wanted him there. Politics played a major role because in the movie, Three Sovereigns For Sarah, it was said that Rebecca s family had come into possession of land and power too quickly for the liking of the other people. It was a time when if you owned land you could vote and that fact was threatening to some people. It was political family feuds that fuel the accusations. Many of the accused were trying to buy land and not everybody had the same views on things as others. A single vote for the other side threatened the prosperity of some. By having the afflicted accuse the people that were trying to become landowners, they were ensuring their own wealth. Knowing or being related to an afflicted had its perks. Sethe and Denver were very content with the way things were. Sethe had a paying job as a cook and Denver never left the house since she was terrified of the horrible monsters that could be lurking in the outside world. They also had a spirit that was haunting their house, which was believed to be Denver s sister that was killed as a baby. Until one day, Paul D came to the house and banished the ghost. • 43. How Did Littlewood Influence The Style Of Theatre Born on 6th October, 1914 in South London, Joan Littlewood rejected the standard performance style of theatre in the 1900s (as a form of escapism from the war) and replaced in with a style of theatre which experimented with contemporary social issues amongst a working class audience. Once completing her studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) Littlewood founded numerous theatre companies around the UK during the 1930s and 40s including: Theatre Union, Theatre of Action and Theatre Workshop. Namely, Theatre Workshop s performances became very successful after moving from Manchester to Stratford (in the East End of London). Originally, their performances were either Shakespearean, other classics, or controversial plays which were written or adapted by Littlewood s husband, Jimmy Miller this was before Joan Littlewood developed her own style of performance [ Agitprop ] Agitprop is political propaganda promulgated chiefly in literature, drama, music, or art. {definition by Merriam Webster} ... • 44. Analysis Of Quixote s Soldiers By Cesar Chavez Essay Depicted on the cover of Quixote s Soldiers is a group of Mexican American men and women in protest formation. They carry with them signs that say Justice for La Raza, Ando sangrando igual que tu, and Cops out of our communities! David Montejano argues that Mexican American reform groups are often left out of the Civil Rights Movement taught in a classroom. San Antonio was the birthplace of the Chicano movement. Here, various organizations were formed to encourage the government to increase Mexican Americans opportunities in the educational field as well as in the work field. The Brown Power movement campaigned for Mexican Americans to reject assimilation into the American mainstream society, and celebrate their Chicano history. La Causa, or The Cause of this movement, began as farm worker strikes in California and Southwest region. (Montejano, 10) Farmworkers demanded fair wages and suitable working conditions, but they also faced inequality outside of the workplace. Inspired by Cesar Chavez, young Chicanos in San Antonio began to form organizations that would challenge the injustice and inequality treatment they faced as citizens of the United States. The Civil Rights Movement of African Americans also impacted and influenced the young generation of the Chicano Movement. They shared one common enemy: the white elite. Their basic rights as a citizen were being withheld and they organized to fight to retrieve them. The West and South regions of San Antonio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Response For Young Goodman Brown Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne can be interpreted in one of two ways. Some people believe it was all just one big bad dream, others believe it actually happened. Either way you interpret it can be right, there isn t a right or wrong answer, you just have to support your answers. I believe that it was all a dream, and Young Goodman Brown woke up with a completely corrupt mind that cost him his life. This is because Goodman Brown s good friends never even acknowledged him, his wife who wanted him to stay home was out there, and everything was normal when he woke up. Young Goodman Brown was only dreaming the whole time. I honestly believe that the whole entire story was a dream all up until the part where he woke up and went into the town. Although, when he woke up, his life was already ruined and his mind was already 100% corrupt. Young Goodman Brown thought that everyone was devil worshippers because he saw them out at the devil meeting in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is part of the reason why I think it was just a dream. You would think if people he knew, and was good friends with were in the forest with him, they would at least acknowledge him. In the story, it says that Goodman saw Goody Cloyse and he was so surprised about her being out there. That is when everybody else started showing up and he thought it was more than a dream. The part that leads me to believe that is was a dream even more, is that his wife was so upset that he was leaving the house to go out into the forest. She basically begged him to stay but he was too stubborn and decided to go after thinking about it long and hard. His wife, Faith, was wearing a little pink ribbon in her hair right before he left for the woods. After he saw Goody Cloyse, and then seeing the other towns members, Goodman Brown spots a little pink ribbon laying on the ground, the same one that Faith was wearing before he ...
