Examples Of Parenthood In The Destructors
The lack of parenthood in The Destructors is the primary reason the boys in the gang have the dark
streak that is seen in their endeavors. The effects of war and the class change contribute, but both
ultimately tie back in to the root of the problem the parents. Most boys grow up with a curiosity, a
knack for getting into trouble, and a longing to mess with what they shouldn t; these attributes are
definitely present in the boys in the gang. Children should be raised by parents that teach them right
from wrong so this curiosity, while it may still be present, is contained to a limit that is acceptable.
The problem is that these boys didn t grow up with this type of parenting because they experienced
little to no parenting at all. Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
is unique in this way because his darkness is deeper than the others, as seen in his fixation with Mr.
Thomas s house. One known fact about T. that is different from the others, is that his family came
down after the war. Specifically, his father went from being an architect to a clerk. This change in
occupation is one reason why T. is so fixated on the house. He is bitter about the war, his father s
demotion, and the class change. He sees that this house survived a war he did not and wants to tear it
down as his family had been. This is seen as T. is giving orders after he assumes leadership in the
destruction of the house. It says that it was as though this plan had been with him all his
life...crystallized with the pain of puberty. (70) The quote fortifies how he wants justice for what he
has been through and that he never got to grow up as a child. He was forced to grow up quicker than
he should have because of the war and his class change. The word pain brings out a sharpness to what
he felt and went through. It provides the reader with a connection to T. that wouldn t be there

Introduction
In order to understand the present day accounting methods and principles of China and Japan it is
essential to understand the history of both of these nations and focus on the issues that have led to
these events. In this paper we will discuss how the influence of Confucianism has directly affected
both China and Japan in a cultural and economic sense. After a brief discussion of ... Show more

This method is a crude way for dealing with downside risk and illustrating losses soon.
Another approach which widely utilise in East Asian countries is income smoothing in order to cope
with uncertainties in accounting (People s Republic of China, 2001). This method stabilizes earnings
which is general involved in tempering the peaks and valleys to make stable. It usually occurs in the
performance of income measurements.
Both approaches can be considered as a long term performance, which is involved in Confucianism.
The suggestion of full disclosure of Chinese and Japanese financial report seems to attribute to the
concepts of honesty and truthfulness in the Confucianism. Unfortunately, honesty and truthfulness
does not occur in either country. In fact, they do not really accept the economic substance in their
accounting systems. They traditionally adhere to the pattern of legal form. In the accounting report,
they usually ignore the valuations of fair market. Instead, they focus on the historical costs. However,
substance over form is used when there is new accounting issued in China. Additionally there is a
hierarchical order, which means that people must consider relations, such as family finances and
business transactions exist in Chinese society (Tang, 2000). Confucianism ideals mean that there are
no accounting principles and no governmental supervising, but it does not exist in those

Reflective Speech
Libby Streeton Irrational thinking is common in a nuclear war, right? Why did I expect Fin and Max
would change their minds? I begged them through a river of tears to stay with me. But that was not
enough. I can t adjust to reality, watching their lanky bodies fade in the distance keeps reminding me
of the fate of their lives. Max is only 12, too young to witness violent and unforgiving deaths of
innocent citizens. What happens if I never see them again? I assumed I was doing right but apparently,
what I think is right is wrong. I am only just beginning to realise what has just happened. They are
gone. My two young boys are gone forever. I have hugged them for the final time. They risked their
lives to find me. But I couldn t do the same. I m stuck in a half broken down office building in the
middle of a deserted city and I can t leave because too many people rely on me to stay here and help.
Inhale. Exhale. I keep thinking about what my life is like now, and right now I feel it is hopeless. I am
isolated, sitting in a patrolled corner of an office, trying to deal with this absolute shit of a situation. I
m a failure of a mother to let my children out of my sight and endanger themselves by going out onto
the deserted streets to find a group of people that may or may not even exist. I had the chance to keep
them here, but I lost it just as easily. Today is not the day to judge Greg on his decisions as a parent,
but what sort of a father deserts his sons and runs after a girl he s just met? Bad parenting if you ask
me... I wish I knew sooner that he just walked out on them, I m not one to judge and I m certainly not
the ideal mother but that was immature. If only Greg and I were on better terms, I mean both of us
being the adults were childish to let down the boys, I m disappointed in the both of us. I know in my
heart, I couldn t stay with a man I no longer loved, neither could I cheat on him. Leaving him suited
me but broke max and fin. But I didn t care, did I? I mean as long as they have money life is complete.
Why Libby, why? I could have and should have made an effort to visit. I m a hypocritical person, to
blame all the reasons why the boys are now abounded in a shopping centre on Greg and his childish

The Crusades Dbq
For many years, holy wars had been fought by Christians all across Europe against the impeding
forces of neighboring Muslims. These wars were called the Crusades and for decades upon centuries,
thousands of lives had been lost on both the Christian and Muslim fronts. Historically speaking, there
were approximately nine crusades waged upon the Muslims to stop them from encroaching further on
European territory, but most of these Crusades were unsuccessful with the advent of strong Muslim
empires. Empires such as the Abbasid, the Fatimid, and the Ottoman all had advanced technology with
the advent of gunpowder and canons; they were unstoppable and continued to conquer lands up to
Vienna and Austria. The main goal of the Crusades was to take back the Holy land of Jerusalem, a
sacred site to all people of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and to fight against the unbeilivers
(Spielvogel, 329). Each of the three religions held claims about the significance of the city and the
surrounding area, relating back to their respective prophets, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed,
respectively. Christians joined the crusader expeditions for several reasons: for the glory of spreading
their religion, for the spoils of war, and for preventing any progression of Islam.
The Muslim empires proved to be forces to be reckoned with when they stretched and ... Show more

Looking from an impartial, unbiased perspective, both fronts committed war on each other and lost
many men. Muslims had led a flourishing empire that encompassed all three Abrahamic faiths and
many others outside the prized area of the Levant. On the other hand, Christians did not facilitate such
a welcoming environment for Muslims and Jews in their territories. Dictatorial powers arose within
Christian leaders called for an outright slaughtering of the heretics. Ultimately, the crusades were a
failure and did not achieve the main goal of securing the Holy land for the

Enron s Business Risks Is When They Entered Into A Number...
Enron s business risks is when they entered into a number of aggressive transactions involving special
purpose entities SPEs. The underlying account was questionable and/or fraudulent. Some of the
transactions essentially involved Enron receiving borrowed funds without recording the liabilities on
the company s balance sheet. Instead, the inflow of funds were made to look like it came from the sale
of assets. This risk made the liabilities on the financial misleading to investors and customers because
it made Enron look like they were making more than what they actually were making in profit.
SPEs are separate legal entities set up to accomplish specific company objective. They become a
synonymous with Enron s collapse because these entities were at the center of Enron s aggressive
accounting methods. SPEs were used by Enron to sell off assets. The SPE would pay for the
contributed assets through a new debt or equity issuance. SPEs can serve as a legitimate business
purpose, it is apparent the Enron used a large network of SPEs, with complicated speculations and
hedges all conceal in heavy legal language to keep an massive amount of debt off the company s
balance sheet. Enron had hundreds of SPEs. Three of the Enron s SPEs were made prominent
throughout the legal process. Chewco, LJM2, and Whitewing. Chewco was established in 1997 by
Enron executives in connection with a complicated investment in another Enron partnership with
interest in natural gas pipelines. The LJM2

Medical Marijuana Dependence Research
Another myth surrounding the use of the plant is on dependence. Marijuana invokes an image of
people getting high and having problems abstaining from the substance. This is untrue. Solomon
(1966) clearly states that marihuana users do not come from the criminal class. Aggressiveness is not
commonly seen among these users. Dependence or tolerance is characterized by prominent
withdrawal symptoms. This is the true hallmark or defining characteristic of drug addiction. In the
recent years, there is very little evidence to support the claim that marijuana caries a true risk of
addiction. Studies, taken by Earleywine (2005), stated existing data do not prove that marijuana use
correlates with an increase in teen marijuana dependence. Solomon adds ... Show more content on

First, the opposition states that marijuana has dangerous side effects when smoked. This includes
cancer, and stunted growth. To counter this, the author of the essay stated earlier that there are
different ways to administer marijuana. Inhalation of the fumes is not the only method. Cannabis can
be taken intravenously, orally, and topically. These methods remove the risk of the abovementioned
health problems. Another statement is that although natural, the plant still contains toxic chemicals
and these produce dangerous side effects. To start with, the opposition claims that THC is the
chemical responsible for the harmful effects in one s body. Marinol, which is what the opposition

Compare And Contrast Slumdog Millionaire
In this paper, I compare and contrast Slumdog Millionaire and Salaam Bombay in their portrayals of
Indian children who live in slums. Several themes emerge from both the movies that I will discuss in
this essay. Gilbert (2007) mentions that according to World Bank/UNCHS, Hundreds of millions of
urban poor in the developing and transitional world have few options but to live in squalid, unsafe
environments where they face multiple threats to their health and security. Slums and squatter
settlements lack the most basic infrastructure and services. Their populations are marginalized and
largely disenfranchised. They are exposed to the diseases, crime and vulnerable to natural disasters.

Abolitionism Of 1860
Good afternoon everyone,
After reading chapters 1 and 2 in our textbook I discovered many policies that were instated to help in
the expansion of the West. The one I would like to discuss is the Homestead Act of 1862. Shortly after
the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was instated (moving many Native Americans off of western
territories), many white individuals were hungry for more land. George Henry Evans, a labor leader in
the House, felt he had a solution to the job deficit problem arising in the East. If he could provide
these low income individuals with low cost or free land, it could help eliminate the issue. Most of the
abolitionist were in favor of this act, feeling that it could help end issues associated with slavery and
the poor. While

The Archetype Of Theseus As A Hero
Heroes are inspirational figures in stories that relay relatable messages. Some of the most famous
heroes include Harry Potter, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. In greek mythology, Theseus, like
Superman or Harry Potter, is also considered a hero. Theseus was the son of Poseidon who went to
Athens to meet his supposed father, the king. In hopes of freeing him of his debt, he travels to Crete
where Minos resided and killed the minotaur whom Aegeus was to feed 7 each of the most beautiful
maidens and courageous men in his kingdom. Theseus is considered a hero for he possesses qualities
of a hero and his/her journey. Theseus fits the hero archetype because he is clever, which means that
he has situational intelligence; he is determined, which means that he is firmly set in opinion or
purpose; and he has a supernatural helper, which is someone who aids the hero in his/her quest usually
by providing them with a talisman or advice.
Theseus is clever in that he is able to figure out a solution hastily given a situation. On his journey to
Athens, Theseus encountered Sciron whom he had heard of as someone who fed passersby to his giant
turtle. In the text, it states, When the giant kicked, Theseus pulled, dodging swiftly out of the way as
the enormous body hurled over him, over and down, splashing the water cliff high as it hit (Evslin
153). In order to avoid being fed to the turtle, he used the giant s kick tactic against him and sent him
hurling down into the water. This

The Pros And Cons Of Citizens United States
The first amendment prohibits the composing of any law abiding to an establishment of religion,
impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of
the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibiting the petitioning for a
governmental redress of grievances. It was set in place on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten
amendments that complete the Bill of Rights. Citizens United s goal is to restore the United States
government back to citizens control. Citizens United reveals traditional American values of limited

Question:
How do the formalistic and ideological patterns found in Orson Welles s movies; Citizen Kane, Touch
of Evil, and Othello, make him a great auteur?
Outline:
1. Orson Welles (Biography and 3 films)
2. Formalistic patterns:
➢ Mise en Scene in each film
➢ Editing in each film
3. Ideological patterns (in each film)
4. Orson Welles as an Auteur
1. Orson Welles:
Biography:
Orson Welles was born on the 6th of May in 1915 and died in 1985, on the 10th of October. He used
to play magic, paint, and play the piano as a child, a later on he found himself directing, producing,
writing and acting. Orson Welles performed in Romeo and Juliet, and started a radio career at the
same time in 1934.
He created the Mercury theatre, which was a success back then, but ended it due to financial problems
and settled down on filmmaking. After these many activities, he filmed the famous Citizen Kane in
1939 but released in 1941. Then the movie s audience rated it as one of best films ever made.
Orson s defense about his movies was that they were specially affected by his life experiences that got

Life Changing Moment In Life
When reminiscing on my past I m able to recall the certain moments, which have led to a path where I
find myself at a cross road. Searching through the databases of my mind, I m reminded of cherished
memories, though I attempt to pinpoint the times in which I have been successful in my decision
making; I cannot help but deliberate whether my past conveyed such a challenging decision. My
future is unpredictable, and my choices will decide my prolonged existence; positive or negative I
must act on them now, or else I will miss the train to my forthcoming. Through the life changing
moments, which led to my admiration for the ones close to me; I have found what identifies me as an
individual. Nonetheless, will it be enough for the rapid pace at which my future emerges?
Life changing, it s a term to identify an event that will forever transform someone, and the life they are
currently living; sounds self explanatory, though it isn t such a simple phrase. Considering the
expression; life changing is watching a friend fight cancer, battling each day not knowing if she will
get better. Moreover, Parents who are combating a recession, struggling to generate money with the
profession they find themselves in; moving from house to house trying to stay joyful to a child who
may not identify the extent of the situation. Trails such as these have caused my life to be significantly
altered. However, these events are only a minor fraction of my narrative. For instance, I ve helped lead
a movement against bullying, being triumphant with the results. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to
represent my school at a World Leadership Conference, being able to express heartache, happiness,
and love to individuals, some who have experienced horrible tragedies, was such an eye opening
experience. These events in my life have erupt a fire in my soul, and striving to build upon each
situation will only be beneficial for my future endeavors.
Reflecting these life changing moments, I come to a realization that not all memories are so
influential, but more of a comforting feeling. My family vacations to Walt Disney World helped bring
imagination and inspiration inside of a young boy s mind. Playing on my childhood play set in our

The Effects Of Psychedelics
In the 1950s and 60s research into the potential of psychedelic drugs to treat illnesses began but was
unfortunately stopped in the 70s due to legal opposition from governments and regulatory bodies. It
has only been in very recent years that laws and attitudes regarding psychedelics have changed enough
to allow for research to resume. During this time, evidence has been found to suggest that there is an
unlocked potential of psychedelics to lower rates of mental illness in many sufferers; treating
depression, PTSD, OCD and several anxiety disorders. Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), psilocybin and
mescaline are all naturally occurring psychedelics that act on the human serotonin system and have
been found to significantly reduce rates of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In humans, DMT is thought to be produced by the lungs (Mandel et al., 1972) and by the pineal gland
(Cozzi et al., 2011), where it also acts to influence mood, perception and thought. DMT is synthesized
from the enzymatic conversion of L tryptophan, which is produced endogenously in plants and is an
essential amino acid in animals, to tryptamine, which is then converted to N methyltryptamine, the
final precursor for N,N Dimethyltryptamine (Axelrod, 1961). DMT non selectively binds to 5 HT
serotonin receptors acting as an agonist or antagonist predominantly in the prefrontal cortex
(Strassman, 1996), an area of the brain responsible for mood and emotional processing (Yang and
Raine, 2009). As previously mentioned, it s been observed that depressed patients have reduced
activity in the prefrontal cortex (Gibb, 2012), so activating this area as well as bringing further release
of serotonin is what s thought to treat the depression and increase connections between emotions,
actions and thoughts. The psychological benefits gained from this can be profound for some
individuals as DMT often promotes the development of personal insights and self knowledge. DMT
can be taken externally via inhalation, injection or oral ingestion in which it is more commonly known
as ayahuasca, a traditional brew used by many cultures throughout history in cultural and spiritual
practices (Osório et al., 2015). With regular consumption

The World s 10 Largest Firms And Their Sources Of Economies
Name Tutor Institution Course Date 1. The world s 10 largest firms and their sources of economies of
scale The two conventional financial clarifications for the development of firms have been economies
of scale and economies of degree. Economies of scale emerge when a firm brings down its every unit
generation expenses of a specific item by creating in more prominent amount. Division of work
through specialization is one reason every unit expenses diminish as generation increments. Adam
Smith depicted in the eighteenth century how a pin plant can expand its yield essentially if every
specialist over and over performs a particular undertaking in the creation prepare as opposed to having
every laborer freely make complete pins without any preparation (Ayyagari,2011). In current MNCs,
economies of scale exist in view of division of work as well as by consolidating, and regularly
supplanting, human work with automated generation. Interest in substantial scale creation gear and the
most recent innovations is by and large exceptionally extravagant. Organizations that have substantial
economies of scale have solid points of interest over their rivals in light of the fact that they have
logistic or value preferences, and in this way pull in more clients and set their size preference
considerably more. It makes a criticism circle of achievement that adversaries have a troublesome

where everything is decided for you we have become so dependent on technology, that social and
emotional development of children is impaired by the effects of modern technology. What is family?

I m seventeen and I m crazy. My uncle says the two always go together. When people ask your age, he
said, always say seventeen and insane. Montag sees her as peculiar girl, but she gets him thinking
about life and his happiness. Montag just lives the day to day never thinking for himself. As Clarisse
continues to walk and talk with Montag he starts to question if he really is happy. Captain Beatty later
on explains to Montag that Clarisse was a time bomb and that they try to pick them off early before
they can stir up any trouble. He references the books and how they were shortened and then just
relying on titles and finally forgetting about them. Modern society has become about the instant
gratification and how can technology improve life. Society revolves around technology, so much so
that a child can operate a piece of computer more efficiently than that of a man in his 60 s. Bradbury
refers to the mechanical hound with human like qualities, The mechanical Hound slept but did not
sleep, lived but did not live in its gently humming, gently vibration, softly illuminated kennel back in
a dark corner of the fire house. The dim light of one in the morning, the moonlight from the open sky
framed through the great window, touched here and there on the brass and copper and the steal of the
faintly trembling beast. Light flickered on bits of ruby glass and on sensitive capillary hairs in the
nylon brushed nostrils of the creature that quivered gently, its eight legs spidered under it on rubber
padded paws (24). The hound is designed and programed to be the avenger for society, to look over
and protect the people of this society. It is the Fireman s watchdog, although it looks nothing like a
watch dog. The hound is the governments way to manipulate control over technology, a way to instill
fear in society. Does modern society have cause for concern? The government still spy s

Sports Are The Way Of Life
To many Americans sports have been the way of life. The people think that sports are one of the main
reasons why the different cultures and backgrounds have come together. Sports tend to make people
put all of their differences aside and make them communicate and possibly became friends with
people they would have never thought of. The effects of sports on people lives are good because they
teach good values and habits along with bringing people together as one. Sports are at the center of
our country and teaches a lot about good values. The U.S. citizens often tend to take sports too far
which was stated when President Clinton talks about how the country is insane about sports and that
they use sports as a way to how we act. Most Americans would say that the only good thing about the
country is the sports. They think sports is the only place for people to get the same chances and where
people work the hardest and it brings all the people together (Saunders). Sports were probably the best
thing that happened to the people in the United States because Sports had become more of a way of
life in American in which everyone tried to involve with complex issues (Starr). Although it took a
while for sports to change sports affected some changes in American society in ways including an
increase in ethnic interrogation, the rise of feminism, and the growth of new media technologies. In
the mid to late 19th century, most sports were played for purposes of social networking and

What Are The Four Layers Of The Contextual Theory Of...
When communicators are interacting with others, there are many behavioral and psychological facets
that influences their judgment. Kim s Theory makes up four layers that portrays how and why people
interact the way they do. The communicator layer will be examined through the dissection of identity
inclusivity, identity exclusivity, identity security and identity insecurity.
The Four Layers of the Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication Young Yun Kim s
Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication comprises of four layers: the environment, the
situation, the communicator, and the behavior. All of these layers work together in order to create what
Kim calls a communication event (Kim, 2005). When interethnic communication occurs, the
communicators identify some form of distinctiveness from the conversational partner in terms of
ethnicity or other identity aspects. The environment layer describes the larger social setting, so aspects
such as institutional influences. The next layer, the situation, is ingrained in the environment layer.
According to Kim, the situation layer describes the actual interethnic meeting. In this context, the
communicator will engage with their conversational partner(s) (Kim, 2005). Following the situation
layer is the communicator layer. This gets more specific with the personal identities of the
communicator and the people they are interacting with. The communicator layer will be the focus of
this paper. Lastly, the behavioral layer

The True Heroes Of World War II
Scientists of the Manhattan Project: The True Heroes of World War II
The morning of August 15, 1945, Americans rejoiced as World War II came to an end after Japan had
been bombed twice by atomic bombs which completely decimated the cities of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. Most people know this would be the only nuclear attack ever made in history, but what
people do not know would be who created these nuclear weapons, and how they created them. The
Manhattan Project, created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, included the most brilliant scientists of
all time. The President created this project because he obtained information that Germany could
possibly create a nuclear weapon. Essentially, this project began working on the idea because the ...

Without this team, America would not have survived if the Germans ever actually created the atomic
bomb, and Roosevelt knew that. The President created this team because of an issue that had been
brought up to him one month before. Albert Einstein (a future scientist to work on the Manhattan
Project) sent a letter explaining that German scientists had discovered something unimaginable. It
stated:
In the course of the last four months it has been made probable through the work of Joliot in France as
well as Fermi and Szilard in America that it may become possible to set up a nuclear chain reaction in
a large mass of Uranium, by which vast amounts of power and large quantities of new radium like
elements would be generated. Now it appears almost certain that this could be achieved in the
immediate future. (Einstein)
Albert Einstein knew that this could be possible and knew that German scientists had started on
experimenting with the newly found chain reaction in Uranium ore. This shows that Einstein knew of
the dangers of nuclear weapons in the near future and he openly wanted to help the United States
succeed in liberation of the Nazi troops in Europe. Einstein highly recommended Roosevelt to speed
up the experimentation of nuclear. This proves that without the knowledge of Einstein, Germany
would surpass the United States in technological warfare. Roosevelt did not want to fall behind
Germany and be

The General Context Of The Educational Technology Research
In this introductory chapter, I present a brief background discussion on the general context of my
research within the educational technology research, specifically within AIED research and doc toral

propose to explore. I then provide a delineation of my solution methodology for pursuing this
proposed research: use of simulation. Finally, I conclude the chapter with an outline of my proposed
research thesis goals and objectives and the organization of this thesis proposal. 1.1 Introduction Most

Focus on a learner first approach [13] is AIED third attribute. As a result, personalization of learning
environments has been one of AIED s most important research trends. Studies attest that
personalization improves attainment of learning goals by learners. The key is the one to one
relationship between learners and the source of their support; and more specifically how the support
styles are in accordance with learners learning styles and preferred support styles [17], [18]. One of
the earliest threads of research that is central to the success of personalization is modeling of all key
elements in a learning environment [6], [15], [16]. Personalization requires attentive modeling of
learning agents (learner, mentors), resources (learning objects), and the learning en vironment. Santos
et al. [6] provide a more detailed outline of the various dimensions affecting support for
personalization in learning systems; their work focused on research published be tween the years 2011
and 2016. These dimensions include application scope, interaction and technological devices, and
educational domains. In a succinct preamble [13] to the IJAIED 25th Anniversary Issue focusing on
AIED research direction for the next 25 years, it is clear that modeling as a research thread will still be
part of AIED future research with more focus in per sonalization [19] and understanding of learners
and learning experiences through evaluation [20], [21]. The importance of evaluation of

Why Do Professional Athletes Use Anabolic Steroids
It was in 1987 that the National Football League started testing players for performance enhancing

the use of PED s by professional athletes have been a problem sin at least the 1960 s. Also, athletes

Persuasive Essay On Polar Bears
As the days go by, the weather gets warmer and the entire world population is affected in one way or
another. Global warming has long been an issue scientists have been trying to raise awareness of. Not
only does it bring rising average temperatures, but it has an immense impact on the largest marine
mammal, the polar bear. The rising temperatures has caused polar bears to lose habitat and are forcing
them to move downward to search for alternative food sources. As a result, polar bears will become
extinct because of their hunting habits, their meat based diet, and competition with the grizzly bear.
The polar bear is in danger of becoming extinct largely due to to the fact that the warm weather is
giving them an insufficient amount of time to hunt. According to the article Polar Bear , Polar bears
can only survive in areas where the oceans freeze, allowing them to hunt seals living under, on, or in
the frozen polar ice cap. This means, that with the rising temperatures and melting ice caps, polar

They argue that polar bears will survive or evolve. An argument is that their only predator is man,
however, they will come into competition with the grizzly bear and not be able to survive. Another
counter claim is that the polar bears will evolve and adapt to their environments. Regardless of this,
UCLA Biologists say, To people who say polar bears can just change their diet, we are saying they
WILL change their diet they will have to but it probably won t be sufficient for them. Even if the polar
bear evolves to fit their environment, it will not be adequate, especially with their competition with the
grizzlies. Additionally, others say we can stop their extinction by human preservation, but that would
still require them to get used to a new environment. Taking all sides into consideration, the polar bear
is more likely to become extinct than to evolve or

A Career In Troubleshooting Brake Shoes
You may regularly work on your car, handling a variety of tasks yourself, saving you money. The
more you re able to do on your own, the better for your budget. When it comes to troubleshooting
brakes, there may be a line you re just not willing to cross. We ll look at the simple jobs you can
handle on your own as well as those where calling upon a mechanic may be your best option.
Troubleshooting Brakes: Do it Yourself
Replace the brake pads. You can save a few hundreds dollars in labor costs by changing the brake pads
yourself. Typically, you ll pay from $50 to $100 per set of four brake pads, depending on your make
and model. Purchase a can of brake fluid while you re at it and begin assembling your tools: gloves,
safety goggles, jack stands, lug wrench, adjustable wrench, c clamp, and plastic ties. By following the
instructions in your model specific service manual, this job can be completed in about an hour.
Change the brake calipers. Another job you can handle yourself is changing the brake calipers. Since
you re already changing the brake pads, there is good chance the calipers may need replacement too.

Following any brake work, your car should brake firm to the touch. Trouble becomes apparent when
the brakes feel soft to the touch and require extra pressure to make the car stop. Once you have ruled
out the master cylinder isn t the culprit, then bleeding the brake lines is necessary. Brake fluid is
hydraulically pushed through tubes and drives each piston in a brake caliper. Here, you ll need two
people to get the work done one person to press the brake pedal and another individual to open each
bleeder valve to release air. Use a box wrench suitably sized for the bleeder bolt, loosening same.
Remove the old brake fluid with a turkey baster or a syringe. While bleeding the system, have your
helper add fresh fluid. As long as you have a helper available you can do the job

Is American Football Better Than Rugby
American Football is better than Rugby because in Football there are four chances to get a first down
and run down the field to get a touchdown and makes the game more exciting when the teams try to
get a first down and it makes players able to make amazing plays.
American Football is a game where there are two teams with an offense, who are trying to score a
touchdown by either running the ball, or throwing the ball into the endzone to get a touchdown while
the defense are trying to stop them. The objective of the game is to be the team with the most points.

They are concussions, torn ACL, and more. There has been many cases that have said that all the

American Football resulted from different changes to a Soccer match in Britain. It came from the
multiple rule changes from Walter Camp (Father of Football) a student from Yale University. Along
with the rule changes came the line of scrimmage and the down distance. Along with a couple other
guys, Camp helped create the forward pass play. The first pro football can be traced back to 1892 with
Allegheny Athletic Association and being renamed to the National Football League in 1920.
Rugby is a sport where the objective is to carry or kick the ball towards the other team s goal. This is
called a try. One team can run forward and only pass the ball backwards and sideways. The play can
keep going on if someone is tackled, either they throw it or they pass the ball to one of their
teammates. The attacking has a total of six tackles before a possession is changed. Ball control is
important because if someone fumbles, when someone drops a ball while it is in play, it automatically

  • 2. Examples Of Parenthood In The Destructors The lack of parenthood in The Destructors is the primary reason the boys in the gang have the dark streak that is seen in their endeavors. The effects of war and the class change contribute, but both ultimately tie back in to the root of the problem the parents. Most boys grow up with a curiosity, a knack for getting into trouble, and a longing to mess with what they shouldn t; these attributes are definitely present in the boys in the gang. Children should be raised by parents that teach them right from wrong so this curiosity, while it may still be present, is contained to a limit that is acceptable. The problem is that these boys didn t grow up with this type of parenting because they experienced little to no parenting at all. Their ... One known fact about T. that is different from the others, is that his family came down after the war. Specifically, his father went from being an architect to a clerk. This change in occupation is one reason why T. is so fixated on the house. He is bitter about the war, his father s demotion, and the class change. He sees that this house survived a war he did not and wants to tear it down as his family had been. This is seen as T. is giving orders after he assumes leadership in the destruction of the house. It says that it was as though this plan had been with him all his life...crystallized with the pain of puberty. (70) The quote fortifies how he wants justice for what he has been through and that he never got to grow up as a child. He was forced to grow up quicker than he should have because of the war and his class change. The word pain brings out a sharpness to what he felt and went through. It provides the reader with a connection to T. that wouldn t be there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this paper we will discuss how the influence of Confucianism has directly affected both China and Japan in a cultural and economic sense. After a brief discussion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method is a crude way for dealing with downside risk and illustrating losses soon. Another approach which widely utilise in East Asian countries is income smoothing in order to cope with uncertainties in accounting (People s Republic of China, 2001). This method stabilizes earnings which is general involved in tempering the peaks and valleys to make stable. It usually occurs in the performance of income measurements. Both approaches can be considered as a long term performance, which is involved in Confucianism. The suggestion of full disclosure of Chinese and Japanese financial report seems to attribute to the concepts of honesty and truthfulness in the Confucianism. Unfortunately, honesty and truthfulness does not occur in either country. In fact, they do not really accept the economic substance in their accounting systems. They traditionally adhere to the pattern of legal form. In the accounting report, they usually ignore the valuations of fair market. Instead, they focus on the historical costs. However, substance over form is used when there is new accounting issued in China. Additionally there is a hierarchical order, which means that people must consider relations, such as family finances and business transactions exist in Chinese society (Tang, 2000). • 4. Reflective Speech Libby Streeton Irrational thinking is common in a nuclear war, right? Why did I expect Fin and Max would change their minds? I begged them through a river of tears to stay with me. But that was not enough. I can t adjust to reality, watching their lanky bodies fade in the distance keeps reminding me of the fate of their lives. Max is only 12, too young to witness violent and unforgiving deaths of innocent citizens. What happens if I never see them again? I assumed I was doing right but apparently, what I think is right is wrong. I am only just beginning to realise what has just happened. They are gone. My two young boys are gone forever. I have hugged them for the final time. They risked their lives to find me. But I couldn t do the same. I m stuck in a half broken down office building in the middle of a deserted city and I can t leave because too many people rely on me to stay here and help. Inhale. Exhale. I keep thinking about what my life is like now, and right now I feel it is hopeless. I am isolated, sitting in a patrolled corner of an office, trying to deal with this absolute shit of a situation. I m a failure of a mother to let my children out of my sight and endanger themselves by going out onto the deserted streets to find a group of people that may or may not even exist. I had the chance to keep them here, but I lost it just as easily. Today is not the day to judge Greg on his decisions as a parent, but what sort of a father deserts his sons and runs after a girl he s just met? Bad parenting if you ask me... I wish I knew sooner that he just walked out on them, I m not one to judge and I m certainly not the ideal mother but that was immature. If only Greg and I were on better terms, I mean both of us being the adults were childish to let down the boys, I m disappointed in the both of us. I know in my heart, I couldn t stay with a man I no longer loved, neither could I cheat on him. Leaving him suited me but broke max and fin. But I didn t care, did I? I mean as long as they have money life is complete. Why Libby, why? I could have and should have made an effort to visit. I m a hypocritical person, to blame all the reasons why the boys are now abounded in a shopping centre on Greg and his childish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Crusades Dbq For many years, holy wars had been fought by Christians all across Europe against the impeding forces of neighboring Muslims. These wars were called the Crusades and for decades upon centuries, thousands of lives had been lost on both the Christian and Muslim fronts. Historically speaking, there were approximately nine crusades waged upon the Muslims to stop them from encroaching further on European territory, but most of these Crusades were unsuccessful with the advent of strong Muslim empires. Empires such as the Abbasid, the Fatimid, and the Ottoman all had advanced technology with the advent of gunpowder and canons; they were unstoppable and continued to conquer lands up to Vienna and Austria. The main goal of the Crusades was to take back the Holy land of Jerusalem, a sacred site to all people of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and to fight against the unbeilivers (Spielvogel, 329). Each of the three religions held claims about the significance of the city and the surrounding area, relating back to their respective prophets, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, respectively. Christians joined the crusader expeditions for several reasons: for the glory of spreading their religion, for the spoils of war, and for preventing any progression of Islam. The Muslim empires proved to be forces to be reckoned with when they stretched and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Enron s Business Risks Is When They Entered Into A Number... Enron s business risks is when they entered into a number of aggressive transactions involving special purpose entities SPEs. The underlying account was questionable and/or fraudulent. Some of the transactions essentially involved Enron receiving borrowed funds without recording the liabilities on the company s balance sheet. Instead, the inflow of funds were made to look like it came from the sale of assets. This risk made the liabilities on the financial misleading to investors and customers because it made Enron look like they were making more than what they actually were making in profit. SPEs are separate legal entities set up to accomplish specific company objective. They become a synonymous with Enron s collapse because these entities were at the center of Enron s aggressive accounting methods. SPEs were used by Enron to sell off assets. The SPE would pay for the contributed assets through a new debt or equity issuance. SPEs can serve as a legitimate business purpose, it is apparent the Enron used a large network of SPEs, with complicated speculations and hedges all conceal in heavy legal language to keep an massive amount of debt off the company s balance sheet. Enron had hundreds of SPEs. Three of the Enron s SPEs were made prominent throughout the legal process. Chewco, LJM2, and Whitewing. Marijuana invokes an image of people getting high and having problems abstaining from the substance. This is untrue. Solomon (1966) clearly states that marihuana users do not come from the criminal class. Aggressiveness is not commonly seen among these users. Dependence or tolerance is characterized by prominent withdrawal symptoms. This is the true hallmark or defining characteristic of drug addiction. In the recent years, there is very little evidence to support the claim that marijuana caries a true risk of addiction. Studies, taken by Earleywine (2005), stated existing data do not prove that marijuana use correlates with an increase in teen marijuana dependence. Solomon adds ... The one I would like to discuss is the Homestead Act of 1862. Shortly after the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was instated (moving many Native Americans off of western territories), many white individuals were hungry for more land. George Henry Evans, a labor leader in the House, felt he had a solution to the job deficit problem arising in the East. If he could provide these low income individuals with low cost or free land, it could help eliminate the issue. • 12. The Archetype Of Theseus As A Hero Heroes are inspirational figures in stories that relay relatable messages. Some of the most famous heroes include Harry Potter, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. In greek mythology, Theseus, like Superman or Harry Potter, is also considered a hero. Theseus was the son of Poseidon who went to Athens to meet his supposed father, the king. In hopes of freeing him of his debt, he travels to Crete where Minos resided and killed the minotaur whom Aegeus was to feed 7 each of the most beautiful maidens and courageous men in his kingdom. Theseus is considered a hero for he possesses qualities of a hero and his/her journey. Theseus fits the hero archetype because he is clever, which means that he has situational intelligence; he is determined, which means that he is firmly set in opinion or purpose; and he has a supernatural helper, which is someone who aids the hero in his/her quest usually by providing them with a talisman or advice. Theseus is clever in that he is able to figure out a solution hastily given a situation. On his journey to Athens, Theseus encountered Sciron whom he had heard of as someone who fed passersby to his giant turtle. In the text, it states, When the giant kicked, Theseus pulled, dodging swiftly out of the way as the enormous body hurled over him, over and down, splashing the water cliff high as it hit (Evslin 153). In order to avoid being fed to the turtle, he used the giant s kick tactic against him and sent him hurling down into the water. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After these many activities, he filmed the famous Citizen Kane in 1939 but released in 1941. Then the movie s audience rated it as one of best films ever made. Orson s defense about his movies was that they were specially affected by his life experiences that got him to a point of self destruction. Many of his next films weren t that successful but in spite of that, his reputation as a filmmaker has highly climbed ever since.

Searching through the databases of my mind, I m reminded of cherished memories, though I attempt to pinpoint the times in which I have been successful in my decision making; I cannot help but deliberate whether my past conveyed such a challenging decision. My future is unpredictable, and my choices will decide my prolonged existence; positive or negative I must act on them now, or else I will miss the train to my forthcoming. Through the life changing moments, which led to my admiration for the ones close to me; I have found what identifies me as an individual. Nonetheless, will it be enough for the rapid pace at which my future emerges? Life changing, it s a term to identify an event that will forever transform someone, and the life they are currently living; sounds self explanatory, though it isn t such a simple phrase. Considering the expression; life changing is watching a friend fight cancer, battling each day not knowing if she will get better. Moreover, Parents who are combating a recession, struggling to generate money with the profession they find themselves in; moving from house to house trying to stay joyful to a child who may not identify the extent of the situation. Trails such as these have caused my life to be significantly altered. However, these events are only a minor fraction of my narrative. For instance, I ve helped lead a movement against bullying, being triumphant with the results. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to represent my school at a World Leadership Conference, being able to express heartache, happiness, and love to individuals, some who have experienced horrible tragedies, was such an eye opening experience. These events in my life have erupt a fire in my soul, and striving to build upon each situation will only be beneficial for my future endeavors. The Effects Of Psychedelics In the 1950s and 60s research into the potential of psychedelic drugs to treat illnesses began but was unfortunately stopped in the 70s due to legal opposition from governments and regulatory bodies. It has only been in very recent years that laws and attitudes regarding psychedelics have changed enough to allow for research to resume. During this time, evidence has been found to suggest that there is an unlocked potential of psychedelics to lower rates of mental illness in many sufferers; treating depression, PTSD, OCD and several anxiety disorders. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In humans, DMT is thought to be produced by the lungs (Mandel et al., 1972) and by the pineal gland (Cozzi et al., 2011), where it also acts to influence mood, perception and thought. DMT is synthesized from the enzymatic conversion of L tryptophan, which is produced endogenously in plants and is an essential amino acid in animals, to tryptamine, which is then converted to N methyltryptamine, the final precursor for N,N Dimethyltryptamine (Axelrod, 1961). DMT non selectively binds to 5 HT serotonin receptors acting as an agonist or antagonist predominantly in the prefrontal cortex (Strassman, 1996), an area of the brain responsible for mood and emotional processing (Yang and Raine, 2009). As previously mentioned, it s been observed that depressed patients have reduced activity in the prefrontal cortex (Gibb, 2012), so activating this area as well as bringing further release of serotonin is what s thought to treat the depression and increase connections between emotions, actions and thoughts. The psychological benefits gained from this can be profound for some individuals as DMT often promotes the development of personal insights and self knowledge. DMT can be taken externally via inhalation, injection or oral ingestion in which it is more commonly known as ayahuasca, a traditional brew used by many cultures throughout history in cultural and spiritual practices (Osório et al., 2015). The world s 10 largest firms and their sources of economies of scale The two conventional financial clarifications for the development of firms have been economies of scale and economies of degree. Economies of scale emerge when a firm brings down its every unit generation expenses of a specific item by creating in more prominent amount. Division of work through specialization is one reason every unit expenses diminish as generation increments. Adam Smith depicted in the eighteenth century how a pin plant can expand its yield essentially if every specialist over and over performs a particular undertaking in the creation prepare as opposed to having every laborer freely make complete pins without any preparation (Ayyagari,2011). In current MNCs, economies of scale exist in view of division of work as well as by consolidating, and regularly supplanting, human work with automated generation. Interest in substantial scale creation gear and the most recent innovations is by and large exceptionally extravagant. Modern society has become about the instant gratification and how can technology improve life. Society revolves around technology, so much so that a child can operate a piece of computer more efficiently than that of a man in his 60 s. Light flickered on bits of ruby glass and on sensitive capillary hairs in the nylon brushed nostrils of the creature that quivered gently, its eight legs spidered under it on rubber padded paws (24). The hound is designed and programed to be the avenger for society, to look over and protect the people of this society. It is the Fireman s watchdog, although it looks nothing like a watch dog.
