Chemical Warfare During The First World War
Chemical Warfare in the First World War The First World War, while engulfing Europe with four years
of death and destruction, also served as something of a testing ground, allowing nations to test and
deploy the newest and most high tech weapons in their arsenals. It is from these experiences, on the
bitter, mud drenched fields of Flanders, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere, that many technologies that
shape the modern battlefield today, such as the air plane or the tank, were first put to use on a grand
scale. It is here too, that another weapon was unleashed upon humanity for first time, but this one was
deemed so sinister that the nations of the world near unanimously agreed to ban once the war ended. A
weapon so awful that even today, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its use, however, despite its non lethality, served to set a dangerous precedent for the war. German
planners wasted no time in developing their own incapacitating agents to retaliate with, and before
long something of a chemical weapons arms race was underway. The German chemical response
finally came that October, when British forces at Neuve Chapelle were hit with a wave of xylyl
bromide, and apparently the Germans like what they saw. In January, they decided to turn their new
weapon against the Russian army, in what they hoped would send their opponents running beneath a
thick cloud of tear gas. To create this cloud, nearly 20,000 shells were filled with teargas and
unleashed on the Russian positions west of Warsaw. Unfortunately for the Germans, however, they did
not take into account the frigid conditions that occur in Central Poland in July, and most of the gas
froze, the shells harmlessly falling to earth amongst a bewildered Czarist force. In light of the
developments on the Eastern Front, as well as the fact that xylyl bromide was found to corrode metals
and thus posed a logistics nightmare for the men transporting the shells, the German army began
looking for alternatives and finally

Taking a Look at Information Warfare
INTRODUCTION
Over the last decades, information warfare has become a societal issue. Research shows that
information warfare does not exclude to military, and have penetrated into commercial word. This
issue, is a threat for organization and their assets. (Knapp,Boulton, 2006)
Information is a valuable asset for businesses and organizations. Advances in information technology
facilities the storing, transferring, and modifying of data. Organizations use information technologies
such as the Internet and networked technology to reduce operating costs, improve customer service,
and improve productivity. However, Using the Internet has increased the number of frontier that must
be protected and has bought a lot of concerns about security issues. (Ezingeard, McFadzean, Birchall,
2005)
Although, governments and businesses have spent billions of dollars on IT to protect their
information, Medias highlights that the number of cyber fraud and cyber attacks by nation states,
criminals, and hacktivists is accelerating. ( Ezingeard, McFadzean, Birchall, 2005)
Using of spying techniques such as espionage is another threats for organization. The traditional form
of espionage is replaced by new technology espionage which uses advanced electronic and computer
devices to steal information and knowledge of organizations. (Knapp,Boulton, 2006)
In this paper the role of counterintelligence and information assurance, two elements of information

Analysis Of Alexis De Tocqueville s Life
It was Monday, October 27th, 2014; Alexis De Tocqueville was casually heading down to the local
election hall in Toronto for the municipal elections occurring that night. As he stepped in and stood in
line for his turn, he noticed two individuals ahead of him. At closer inspection, he was in awe to
realize these two gentlemen happened to be Adam Smith and Karl Marx, two great philosophers he
had always wanted to meet and converse with. Smith and Marx, realizing their admirer staring,
immediately recognized Tocqueville as well and at that moment, all three of their eyes lit in
excitement. After turning in their votes, the three agreed to go to a nearby restaurant for some nachos
because who does not like nachos after voting on a Monday night. Since they had just come from
voting for the elections, it was only appropriate the topic of their discussion should be something
related. De Tocqueville, taking the initiative when they had settled down, decided to throw a question
to Marx and Smith after they had finished snacking on perfectly dressed nachos and having a few
drinks. But before he could, Adam Smith declared he was too tired to go through what is about to
occur, so they decided to just leave him as he passes out on his seat. Looking at Marx, Tocqueville
asked, Well, now that we are here, and have just finished voting and eating, I would like to ask you
and your great mind what you personally think about the importance of governments? Having unique

Modern Cyber Attack And Its Effects On Society
Traditional crimes, otherwise known as street crimes, violate state and federal laws without the use of
a computer and/or internet. Rape, homicide, distribution/using of illegal substance, assault, burglary,
breaking and entering, possession of unregistered firearm, etc. are some examples of traditional crime.
Just like traditional crime, cybercrime is inevitable and unavoidable as long as computers and the
internet are around. It can pick and choose its victims at random and although there are ways to lessen
the chances, it is still virtually inescapable. Robbing a bank traditionally meant isolated incidents at
individual banks. Cybercrime opens new doors to criminals where they have the power to defraud
entire institutions in way that would not have been possible traditionally. (Carnaghan, 2013). The
effects of a solitary, but thriving cyber attack can have an across the board implication together with a
loss of trust, consumer confidence, financial losses, and theft of intellectual property. Three men
named Kevin Mitinick, Kevin Poulsen, and Jeanson James Ancheta were found guilty and convicted
of committing cybercrimes by hacking into computers and software systems. Kevin Mitinick began
his criminal behavior at twelve years old. Social engineering became his primary method of obtaining
information, including user names, passwords, and phone numbers. By age six teen he had hacked into
the computer system Digital Equipment Corporation used for developing operating

What Is The Negative Side Of Philip V. Narwin Disruptive
I represented the Affirmative side in our recent court case, as I supported Philip and opposed the
Negative side, who supported Ms. Narwin. Our main points included the following: Miss Narwin had
a personal issue with Philip and that is why she acted so cruelly towards him, Miss Narwin started the
entire ordeal and was the real disturbance, and finally Philip had the right to hum in class due to the
First Amendment. The opposition had several points as well, such as Philip was being disruptive, he
twisted the story in his favor, and he was kindly asked to stop but repeatedly defied the teacher. We
showed the fault in these counterpoints through rebuttal. Philip was not being disruptive, as just

Alphabet Murders Case Study
Unsolved Case of the Alphabet Murders During the 1970 s, a chilling series of events had the people
of New York on edge. The citizens around Rochester were particularly anxious. Three victims in the
surrounding areas had been discovered, each with double initials. The unsolved case of the Alphabet
Murders leaves the people of New York inquisitive and horrified to this day. 10 year old Carmen
Colon was the first to disappear on November 16, 1971. She was said to have walked alone to the
pharmacy earlier that day, to pick up a prescription for her stepsister. She had to wait at least an hour
before the medicine was ready, so she left the pharmacy to run other errands. However, she never
returned to pick up the prescription, nor came back home. When 5PM rolls around, Carmen s worried

The Civil Rights Of African Americans
The term civil rights is very broad when it is to be defined. It has many different aspects as in to what
it can mean, from integration all the way to voting rights of African Americans. My main point is to
focus on the Selma Marches from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama, but also to dig deeper
into it to find the significance of a certain day, the day was called Bloody Sunday. I want to find out
the historical situation behind the marchers who were beat and killed on that day and also look at John
Lewis, and the key part that he played into the events that happened on that day and to also look at the
reasoning behind the whole march. Racism is defined in many different variations and means different
things to certain people; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On March 7, 1965, a very famous five day, 54 long mile march of about 600 peaceful protestors took
place from Selma, Alabama to the state capital Montgomery, Alabama. This was a very peaceful
march that was caused by the Voting Rights Movement for African Americans in Selma. In Selma,
African Americans made up more than half the population, but only a mere two percent were actual
registered voters. Discrimination and intimidation tactics aimed at African American kept them from
registering and voting. The demonstrators marched to demand fairness in voter registration. With over
half the population of Selma being African American there is no reason or excuse besides ignorance
for why only two percent had the right to vote. To give sort of a background to leading up to the
march, in 1963 a group of community activists formed the Dallas County Improvement Association
Dallas County being the actual county that Selma is in. With the goal of having White and Colored
signs removed from public buildings, an investigation of police brutality against Africans Americans,
and increased access to jobs and voter registration. Local officials ignored the Association s concerns.
At the invitation of the Improvement Association, Dr. Martin Luther King and the Southern Christian
Leadership Conference also known as the (SCLC) chose Selma as a focus for civil rights
demonstrations in 1964. The mayor of

The Theme Of Amnesia In The Novel The Return Of The Soldier
William Tecumseh Sherman said it best in 1870, when he said: I tell you, war is Hell, and the First
World War gave truth to that statement. From over four years, the entire world was embroiled in the
throes of war. The allied nations of Britain, France, Imperial Russia and later America seemingly
fought a just war against the aggression of Imperial Germany and Austria Hungary. The War to End all
Wars may not have done what it s epithet claims, it was the war that opened up countless boxes for the
world to explore. One such box was the coinage of the term shell shock This crude and blunt term was
the first to recognize what we now call post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. Millions of men came
home from the front with broken minds and people had to find a way to fix something that seemingly
could not be fixed. In her 1918 novel, The Return of the Soldier, British author Rebecca West tackles
the issue of mental health in a time when the human brain was even still an elusive enigma. She takes
the example of a shell shocked soldier to explore the themes of how amnesia can touch the lives of not
just the afflicted, the selfishness of those his ailment has affected, and the morality of their actions.
When people try to think of an image of the First World War, they think of the horrors of trenches that
stretched from Belgium to Switzerland and the tens of millions of men that inhabited them. Back in
Britain, the war affected every home. German zeppelin bombers broke

Tennessee V. Garner 1985
Tennessee v. Garner 1985 was a case that was the deciding factor that made it no longer acceptable for
a police officer to use deadly force to inhibit a criminal from fleeing the scene. The only way that an
officer would be able to do this is if the criminal was showing that they were going to be a greater
threat if they were not dealt with immediately than they would be if they were just to continue pursuit
of the person. This was a change to the old common law that if a criminal was trying to escape or flee
from a scene a police officer was able to shoot and kill the suspect or they were also able to shoot
warning shots to try to get the person to stop.
When looking at the case the judges were trying to see if there was an issue since the officer had
reason to believe that the suspect was unarmed and not dangerous. One of the big factors that made
the case an issue was that while the officer shot the young man he was only acting under the rules that
he was allowed to follow. If the criminal was trying to evade arrest they could use deadly force in
order to finish the arrest. The officer had a thought that if the young man had made it over the fence
that he would have evaded the arrest totally. Another detail of the court was that they said the boy was
under seizure of the police since the police had tried to detain him of his freedom to leave which had
been decided in another court case back in 1975. The outcome of the case was 6 3 in favor of yes, that
deadly force could

Comparison Of The Hobbit
The Hobbit Compare Contrast Essay Rough Draft Have you ever thought how the characters relate to
each other? Is it the behavior, culture, attitude or values. Well, all those things make ones similar and
different from others. In his book, The Hobbit , the author J.R.R Tolkien describes the hobbit,
dwarves, and elves. In The Hobbit , the characters all have traits that they have in common yet also
have traits that are different. About the hobbit in chapter 1, it is said that They are little people, about
half our height, and smaller than the bearded Dwarves. By looking at this detail, one may know that a
hobbit is a little person that is half a size of a human or smaller than a dwarves. This can be or may
said that there may be characters that are the same size or not as a hobbit and maybe not. With some
differences between the hobbit, dwarves and hobbits are rare, the similarities are pronounced. There
are many differences and similarities between the hobbits and dwarves. Elves are mythical creature in
folklore that are shown as a small human figure with pointy ears. Hobbits are an imaginary race that is
similar to humans. There are differences between the hobbits and dwarves such as personalities and
behavior. In chapter 15 about the hobbit, it is said that In any case he felt that the adventure was,
properly speaking, over with the death of the dragon in which he was much mistaken and he would
have given most of his share of the profits for the peaceful winding up of these affairs. Also in chapter
15 about the dwarves, it is said that Then Thorin burst forth in anger. Our thanks, Rac Carc s son. You
and your people shall not be forgotten. But none of our gold shall thieves take or the violent carry off
while we are alive. By using both of the the quotes above, the readers can tell that the the dwarves are
greedy while the hobbit is willing to give up everything just to have peace. One s knows this is true
that the dwarves are greedy for they said that they will literally kill someone if they tries to take their
treasure. The readers can tell that the hobbit has a heart of gold for he is willing to give up most of his
share to preserve peace. As you may know that if hobbits and dwarves

Chaucer s Retraction In The Canterbury Tales Essay
Different scholars have had different understandings of Chaucer s Retraction and The Canterbury
Tales. The divergent views have drawn different interpretations of the intended meaning and the
context of its existence. Many scholars believe that The Parson s Tale was Chaucer s final work. Some
people feel Chaucer s Retraction was the final one in the collection, while others doubt that Chaucer
was the real author of the repudiation. This dilemma is implored by the fact the retraction completely
disowns the earlier versions of Chaucer s works. Those who agree that Chaucer s Retraction is the
actual work of Geoffrey Chaucer give several reasons why he disowned his work. They explain what
he sought to achieve and how the retraction relates to The Parson s Tale and the whole framework of
The Canterbury Tales.
The fact that Chaucer s main reason of retracting his tales in The Canterbury Tales is to avoid
accusations arising from writing some of the tales is no secret. The fictions rather use some words and
an approach that at the time would have sounded offensive to the pilgrimage or as a criticism of the
church. He uses the retraction to appeal to not only truth as an ideal virtue but also to the words of the
pilgrims that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While he may have felt the need to retract his works because of his religious piety, many doubt the
sincerity in his deed. The most obvious and seeming answer to the question of why he did it is that
other than fear of condemnation, he wanted to attract diverse readers of his work. The Parson s Tale
and Chaucer s Retraction help to look back on the other tales, which are rather vulgar in language and
obscene in technique. The fact that he chose to end his final touch on The Canterbury Tales on a
religious note is both suspicious and pious. However, what this does is to reiterate and reaffirm every
single idea and practice endorsed in the

Re-Articulation Of Music Analysis
During the Aboriginal Australian portion of class, we talked about the re articulation of music. This
theme of re articulation was seen in the 1991 song Treaty by aboriginal Australian group Yothu Yindi,
the Pygmy Hindewhu beats in Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock and Sanctuary by Madonna, as
well as Solomon Linda s Mbube, and a bit during Graceland. The re articulation of music has been
happening for decades and we ve read about it in textbooks but most topics don t affect people until
they are actually touched by the situation. In 2010 I was personally immerse in the re articulation of

this appropriation from the public domain, the location of original authorship for the purpose of

America s First Income Tax Law
The nation had few taxes in its early history. From 1791 to 1802, the United States government was
supported by internal taxes on distilled spirits, carriages, refined sugar, tobacco and snuff, property
sold at auction, corporate bonds, and slaves. The high cost of the War of 1812 brought about the nation
s first sales taxes on gold, silverware, jewelry, and watches. In 1817, however, Congress did away
with all internal taxes, relying on tariffs on imported goods to provide sufficient funds for running the
government.
In 1862, in order to support the Civil War effort, Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law. It
was a forerunner of our modern income tax in that it was based on the principles of graduated, or
progressive, taxation and of withholding income at the source. During the Civil War, a person earning
from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the rate of 3%. Those with incomes of more than $10,000
paid taxes at a higher rate. Additional sales and excise taxes were added, and an inheritance tax also
made its debut. In 1866, internal revenue collections reached their highest point in the nation s 90 year
history more than $310 million, an amount not reached again until 1911.
The Act of 1862 established the office of Commissioner of Internal Revenue. The Commissioner was
given the power to assess, levy, and collect taxes, and the right to enforce the tax laws through seizure
of property and income and through prosecution. The powers and authority remain

Stem Cells Essay
Mesenchymal stem cells go on to develop into: connective tissue, like adipocytes, stromal cells or
tenocytes; muscle tissues, from myoblasts into skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscle types; cartilage,
which is created when an osteochondral progenitor cell develops into a chondroblast then a
chondrocyte; or bone tissue, which is also developed from an osteochondral progenitor cell, into an
osteoblast, then an osteocyte.
Hematopoietic stem cells are what create all the different components of blood.
They develop into Myeloid Progenitor cells, which then go on to develop into erythroblasts (create
erythrocytes, or red blood cells), megakaryoblasts (create megakaryocytes and thrombocytes, which
are platelets), and also myeloblasts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It then develops into a polychromatophilic normoblast. At this stage, the cytoplasm begins to create
haemoglobin, changing the colour to dark grey blue, and the chromatin in the nucleus becomes more
condensed and knotted.
Then, the nuclei completely shrink, forming a orthochromatic normoblast, which then develops into a
reticulocyte, an immature red blood cell.
Neutrophils
Neutrophils are also created from myeloid Progenitor cells, but they then develop into myeloblasts,
which create the three types of granulocyte, including neutrophils.
Stem Cells in Medicine
There are many potential benefits of stem cell research, however, there is a lot more intensive stem
cell research that needs to be done to bridge the gap between the promise of stem cells and the actual
reality of these uses.
There are many areas of medicine where stem cells could be applied, and range from the development
of new drugs, possibly for conditions that have no treatments or cures, to cell therapies, where stem
cells are used to replace failing or damaged tissue.
Together, cardiovascular diseases, such as heart disease, and cancers are the top two causes of death.
Regenerative medicine, using stem cells, has the potential to be able to repair heart damage and
perhaps improve cancer treatments.
Heart Disease

Analysis Of Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night By Dylan...
The twentieth century was a period were the Aesthetic movement helped widen the breach between
writers and the general public (Greenblatt 959). One of the major authors of the Twentieth century was
Dylan Thomas. Thomas was born in 1914 in Swansea, Wales. At the age of sixteen, he left school to
become a writer. However, in 1953 Thomas died in New York due to his heavy drinking problem. His
most famous poem was Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night which was published in 1952 (Ried
notes) .His central message in the poem is not to accept death quietly. Thomas uses old age, wise men,
wild men, and grave men to give examples to deliver his message. Thomas starts the poem off by
talking about men in their old age. He informs us about the old age men by saying, Old age should

age should have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

knowledge to rest of the world. These type of men are just want to be known and understood by others
just like a nerd. The word lightning demonstrates symbolism, which means power in the poem (Reid
Lecture). The third type of men are the wild men. Thomas says Will men who caught and sang the sun

enjoy living their life to the fullest. These type of men don t get to cherish their moments because they
live by the minutes. The wild men represent the younger generation of men, because of their stupidity
they use to get attention from others (Reid

History of Education and Philosophy of Nurse Education
The History and Philosophy of Nurse Education
Amy Allin
Capella University
Abstract
Each educator brings to the academic arena their own personal nursing philosophy that is based on
experience and is historic in nature. By studying the history of nursing, the educator is able to guide
the student through their education process. As an educator the nurse becomes an extension of one s
own personal philosophy. Nursing theory serves as the foundation on which to develop a personal
philosophy and characterizes nursing as a profession based on the art of caring and science. In 1907,
Adelaide Nutting and Lavinia Dock wrote in the preface to their book on the history of nursing:
the modern nurse, keenly interested as she is in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key to effective education is the commitment of the nurse educator (Bastable, 2003).
Philosophy of Nursing Education Historically the philosophy of nursing education is still patient
centered with theories of caring but nursing education and modalities have gravitated from hospital
based programs to science based programs in colleges and universities.
If higher education is to be a crucial sphere for creating citizens equipped to understand others,
exercise their freedoms, and ask questions regarding the basic assumptions that govern democratic
political life, academics will have to assume their responsibility as citizen scholars, take critical
positions, relate their work to larger social issues, offer students knowledge, debate, and dialogue
about pressing social problems, and provide the conditions for students to have hope and believe that
civic life not only matters but that they can make a difference in shaping it (Giroux, 2006). The nurse
and nurse educator share the same s personal philosophy of nursing acquired through knowledge and
life experiences. Wiedenbach believed that nurses philosophy was based on their attitude, belief about
life and how they reflected reality for them. The three essential components associated with nursing
philosophy are a reverence for life; respect for the dignity, worth, autonomy, and individuality of each
human being; and a resolution to act on personally and professionally held beliefs (Nursing Theory,
2011).

Argumentative Essay On Color Blind People
Steve Jobs, an inventor, entrepreneur and industrial designer of Apple, once said, The ones who are
crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do. While new inventions often do
change the whole world, some change the world for one. Technology has changed the world for
everyone; it has changed the difficulties of life and made them easier for mankind. For the colorblind
person, the invention of the Enchroma color blind assist glasses has not only changed the way people
see, but also changes their lives and the way they interact with the world around them.
Although color blindness affects only a small portion of individuals, it makes a huge impact on their
lives. Color blindness affects approximately eight and a half percent of the world, eight percent of men
and a half percent of women (1). Even though the color blind population is very small, it can be
detrimental to our society. This deficiency should be considered a disability. Some people who suffer
from color blindness can t even tell the difference from a red traffic light to a green traffic light; this
can cause automobile crashes which endanger the life of the color blind and everyone else involved. In

The Effects Of Nicotine Dependence On Adolescents
Hypothesis:
In the study it was hypothesized that as the nicotine dependence progresses it would lead to low
positivity in the mood, high negativity in the mood, and higher mood variability. The study also
observed whether nicotine dependence in a person changes after increasing the frequency of the
person smoking during the course of the study.
Methods:
a. Participants
In the study, the participants who were recruited were from the SECASP project. The study was a
longitudinal study based on examining the smoking behavior amidst 12,970 young adolescents,
studying in high school in ninth and tenth grade, recruited from 16 different Chicago high schools.
These young participants were examined based on their smoking behavior and the results were used as

Nowadays, a business wants to exist and grow in a society, which business ethics and corporate social
responsibility are sensitive and crucial objectives, the business should do what is right. Many people
agree that business does not exist beyond society, it is a citizenship in the society. Therefore, business
has to have many certain obligations and social responsibility. It generally means business have to do
something good for the community, making social contribution, and using effectively resources in a
way that next generations can continue to use them. Especially, business managers should pay

Depression and Antidepressants Essay
Depression and Antidepressants
Specifically the serotonergic hypothesis and the action of Prozac
The cause of Clinical depression has long been a mystery to physicians and researchers. Many
different theories have been proposed, but no conclusive evidence has been put forth. However, most
of what we know about depression stems from the results of certain drugs which have been successful
in treating the clinically depressed. These anti depressants have led to the assumption that depression
is most likely due to a chemical imbalance (of neurotransmitters) which somehow leads to the
symptoms of depression. To try and write a paper on all the theories of depression would be endless,
as would be a study on all the different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pertinent findings will be explained, and their implications on future anti depressants will be
addressed.
Many clinical studies have been used to suggest a role for serotonin in the propensity for depression or
suicidal tendencies. Most of these studies measured the level of serotonin in the CSF in certain
individuals. Results established a link between reduced serotonin neurotransmission and aggression,
impulsivity, depression, and suicidal tendencies. Other data, using markers in presynaptic and
postsynaptic serotonergic neurons have shown that reduction in serotonin neurotransmission is a
biochemical risk factor for suicide (1).
Other clinical studies have implicated fluoxetine s effects on serotonin neurotransmitters, based on the
fact that serotonin is synthesized from the essential amino acid tryptophan. Patients taking fluoxetine
who were in remission from major depression were given a special diet which was tryptophan free.
This rapidly decreased plasma serotonin levels, and after a short period of time (as little as 30
minutes) many of the patients began to have signs of specific depressive symptoms. Later, the
reappearance of more general depressive symptoms were observed in a majority of the patients. Thus
it was shown that fluoxetine has a profound effect on the neurotransmitter serotonin, and decreased

My Football Experience
It was Nov.16th, 2014; my last football banquet at Lima senior, they called up the Biggs aka lineman.
I felt so nervous and kind of deprived of the moment. We all went up together; it was intense, I really
felt helpless because I didn t know what was going to happen or expect. I stood on the stage, just
sweating, thinking, and looking confused. This can t be it, I thought. My football career cannot end
this way. The season began in the summer of June 1st 2014 I was very excited training was fantastic,
camps were tough. And my senior year looked great so far, Bowling Green, Kent State and Tiffin
University were very interested in my ability, also knowledge of the game. I was very trilled
everything was going posters, newspapers and program sales were great. In the weeks leading up to
our first scrimmage, it was max out time which means to reach ones maximum in something such as
weight in weight lifting or credit on a credit card. So when I maxed out in the bench and shoulder
press they were about the same 275 300, now in squat my max was 505 pounds, and I was so proud of
that. Then my favorite lift till today was up and ready power clean, which I got 315 the record for the
school but not state. Everybody was in amazement over what I have archived this summer; my passion
in football was the center, standing six feet and one hundred ninety pounds. I was very dominate, so

Sigmund Freud And Erikson s Theory Of Human Development
Introduction
The issue of human development has been a related one within the human society. In this respect,
there are several developmental theories that have been forwarded by some of the world s most well
known psychologists. The two main psychoanalytic theories are Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory
and Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory. They are the two names that one cannot miss while talking
about psychology. Sigmund Freud is called the father of psychology while Erik Erikson s ideas have
become the best known.

adult patients, not on actual observation and study of children. On the other hand Erikson s studies

Border Wall Research Papers
12 billion dollars, that is certainly a lot of money (McFadyen)! On average, that is how much the
United States loses each year from border security. In order to stop illegal immigrants and drug
smugglers from entering the U.S. from Mexico through the border, a wall must be built.
In previous years, many countries and territories around the world have attempted to build walls, and
many have had very much success. For example, Most of the walls built after World War 2 and the
Cold War still exist today. There were a total of 110 walls built between that time period. Professor
Nazli Avdan led a study that had a goal of identifying if a border wall reduced or increased the risk of
a transnational terrorist attack. This study found that since the year 1900, transnational terrorist attacks
have seen a thirteen percent annual decrease in countries with border walls (Border fences

to agree with him. Another reason of his includes the disrupting of the funneling of illicit money and
drugs into the United States of America (Border fences reduce...attacks). The bonus of the building of
the wall is that it will be a visible sign of the government taking action. Decreasing illegal
immigration was Donald Trump s main plan for the wall. Research has shown that only about 9,000 of
the average hundreds of thousands of people that attempt to illegally immigrate across the border each

The Extraordinary Jimi Hendrix Essay
The extraordinary performances, recording, and lyrics of James Marshall Hendrix have made him
impossible to forget. This American rock music guitarist made a legendary mark not only in the
history of rock n roll but also on the pop culture as a whole (Ross 32). With unique techniques never
seen before and blatant sex related performances on stage, he became one of the most influential
music figures of the 60s (Kamin).
Hendrix was not born into stardom nor was it given to him by any means. He strived all throughout
his life to be the very best. Johnny Allen Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942 in Seattle,

in St. Louis (Wolters, Pre Experience ).
After aimlessly wandering for awhile, Hendrix found himself in Atlanta and once again teamed up
with Little Richard. The tour brought them to Los Angeles where he then went in his own direction.
He hooked up with Richard for a third time during the summer of 1964 to record an album in which
he again felt confined as being only a backup to Little Richard (Wolters, Pre Experience ).
Hendrix later joined the budding musician Arthur Lee, but the partnership did not last long as he once
again set out in search of his own identity (Wolters, Pre Experience ). He embarked as a traveling
musician for various tours backing such artists as Ike and Tina Turner, Muddy Waters, Elmore James,
B.B. King, Chuck Berry, King Curtis, Solomon Burke, Chuck Jackson, Jackie Wilson, and several
others (Wolters, Hendrix ).
On his next endeavor, he teamed up with saxophonist Lonnie Youngblood. The pair was short lived as
Hendrix soon split, and his adventurous spirit ended him up in New York where he rented a small,
cheap apartment and drifted from job to dead end job (Wolters, Pre Experience ).

To what extent can developmental dyslexia be explained by...
Dyslexia literally translated from Greek as inadequate words or language is a learning disability
characterised by problems with reading, writing, spelling and speaking. The most common definition
of dyslexia is the discrepancy definition, which suggests that dyslexics are those whose reading ability
is below average for their age group, or IQ. The first case of dyslexia was reported in 1896 by Dr.
Pringle Morgan, who described an intelligent 14 year old boy who had an inability to read, as
suffering from as Pringle Morgan believed word blindness resulting from deficiencies in visual
processing. Since Pringle Morgan s initial report, there have been many other explanations of

Gallagher, Frith and Snowling (submitted) demonstrated that 4 year old children from families with a
first degree relative suffering from dyslexia performed worse on tests of language and speech
processing, compared to children from non dyslexic families. This study supports the phonological
deficit hypothesis as it suggests that dyslexic children show early deficiencies in speech production.
Although the role of heritability is important to consider, due to the real world implications it has of
helping to identify at risk children who are more likely to develop dyslexia, it cannot explain why
there is only a 50 per cent rate of heritability for dyslexia. There has also been very little research into
the heritability of either deficits in visual processing, or cerebellar abnormality.
Despite the support for the phonological deficit hypothesis, one of the main criticisms of the theory is
that it fails to acknowledge possible deficits in visual processing which may cause dyslexia. The
visual magnocellular deficit hypothesis (Stein, 2000) suggests that dyslexia may be caused by
deficiencies within visual processing; specifically within the magnocellular system, which is
responsible among other things for timing visual events when reading (Stein, 2001). Therefore, if our
eyes wander whilst reading, the magnocellular is responsible for bringing our focus back on target. In
dyslexics, it is suggested that

Abstract: This essay deals with the creative possibilities generated by the influx of inexpensive and
easy to use digital recording software, hardware, and digital distribution techniques. One of the main
themes of the essay is the problem of upholding creativity and artistic integrity in an unmediated
digital environment.

However, modern technology has made it possible to package many of the features of large recording
studios into small digital recording consoles, which amateur musicians can afford. The price of one of
these consoles, the Tascam Digital Portastudio 788, at Musiciansfriend.com, is $899.99 [1]. This
console, although seemingly expensive, is much more cost effective than paying for an entire studio,
and can achieve nearly the same results. The real benefit of a digital recording console, however, is the
creative control it bestows upon musicians. Instead of having a producer who dictates how the
recording should sound, the musician becomes the producer, giving him complete control over all
aspects of the composition. Additionally, because of the cost of studio recording, a musician s time in
the studio is usually limited. However, with a personal digital recording console, one can freely
experiment with new ideas without time constraints. While this unmediated recording environment
theoretically provides an artist with unlimited creative flexibility, it also allows for detrimental misuse
in the form of non original composition, which can negate the creative possibilities of this new artistic
process.
The accessibility and simplicity of the unmediated digital recording process enable individuals, who
otherwise would not be involved in music recording, damage the reputation

Cnut The Great Essay Outline
Cnut the Great, also known as Canute, was the son of Denmark s King Svein Forkbeard and helped
his father to conquer England in the year 1013. After Svein s death, the exiled Anglo Saxon king,
Ethelred the Unready, returned to power, but died in 1016 and was succeeded by his son Edmund
Ironside, who signed a treaty that gave Cnut power over part of England after being defeated at the
Battle of Ashingdon later that year (1016). However, Edmund died a few weeks later and all of
England came under Cnut s rule. His reign brought stability after years of raids and battles.
Eventually, Denmark, Norway, and possibly parts of Sweden also came to be under his rule, forming a
vast empire that is often referred to as the Anglo Scandinavian or North Sea Empire. His son Harold
Harefoot became king when Cnut died in 1035, and served until his death in 1040. Cnut s other son,
Harthacnut, then ascended to the throne; his death in 1042 marked the end of Danish rule in England.
King Cnut s most famous quote goes as follows: Let all men know how empty and powerless is the
power of kings. For there is none worthy of the name but God, whom heaven, earth, and sea obey.

Land Use Development Patterns And The International...
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY
Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design, spatial
development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface, including
the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use patterns can have
diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more accessible and so reduce
transportation costs to businesses and consumers.
Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one location
to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since
transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has no
purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the globalization of
trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking advantage of
transportation at different, but often related, scales. Consequently, the fundamental purpose of
transport is geographic in nature, because it facilitates movements between different locations.
Transport thus plays a role in the structure and organization of space and territories, which may vary
according to the level of development.

Pricing Schemes Of The Price Of Consumer Surplus Essay
Uniform pricing does not generate the maximum possible total revenue because it generates consumer
surplus (Thomas Maurice, 2013). Consumer surplus is the area under demand and above market price
over the range of output sold in the market (Thomas Maurice, 2013). Managers devise pricing
schemes to capture consumer surplus and turn it into profit (Thomas Maurice, 2013). A firm charges
different prices for the same product to increase profits which is called price discrimination (Thomas
Maurice, 2013). There are different groups of buyers with various elasticities of demand and are
therefore willing to pay different prices. The definition of price discrimination requires the exact same
product be sold at different prices and the cost must be the same for each market (Thomas Maurice,
2013). Under first degree price discrimination, every unit is sold for the maximum price each
consumer is willing to pay, which theoretically allows the firm to capture the full amount of consumer
surplus. However, this requires a tremendous amount of knowledge and information about each
consumer and their willingness to pay for a product (Thomas Maurice, 2013). This can generate more
profit than uniform pricing because of the haggle factor . Sellers who negotiate prices for each
individual customer are practicing first degree price discrimination. If the seller knows their customer
has more financial resources, they will try to get a higher price. Second degree price discrimination

Throughout Toni Morrison s novel The Bluest Eye, she captures, with vivid insight, the plight of a
young African American girl and what she would be subjected to in a media contrived society that
places its ideal of beauty on the e quintessential blue eyed, blonde woman. The idea of what is
beautiful has been stereotyped in the mass media since the beginning and creates a mental and

Matus also notes:
Profoundly interpersonal, the experience of shame is also therefore social and cultural. Shame is the
result of feeling deficient, whether in relation to a parent, an admired friend, or a more powerful social

We can easily see the effect of this stereotyping in the diminishment of self with Pecola s desire for
blue eyes just to be considered beautiful enough to love.
A negative self concept fostered by societal beliefs creates a profound sense of self loathing for those
who don t fit into a certain standard, which can transcend to the belief that familial connections are
also guilty of the same abhorrence of not fitting into societal stereotyping. The inherent belief that one
is not worthy and they come from a bloodline also unworthy diminishes the mind of any positive

The Girls In Their Summer Dresses Essay
Relationship cheating is a very common incident. If you haven t experienced it yet, there s a good
chance you eventually will. In this paper I ll show you how often cheating happens, the definition of
cheating, what constitutes cheating, and how to deal with it with sources from the internet and a story
called The Girls in Their Summer Dresses, by Irwin Shaw.
Everyone has different opinions on what is cheating, especially if it s between male and female. This
seems to be slightly true because people have a hard time being completely honest and because men
and women just think differently. Slightly more than half of all married people will cheat on their
spouses at some point in their lives. Men apparently cheat more often than women, but there isn t
much of a difference. In Girls in Their Summer Dresses, The main characters are married to each
other, Frances and Michael. Michael had cheated on Frances earlier in the marriage, yet still wanted
more woman knowing he was married to her. Frances has said to Michael, You look at them as though
you want them, every one of them. Michael answered, In a way that s true. I don t do anything about

stuck in a dead end job and is unable to provide for his family. He is not able to accept the changes
that are happening around him and tries to escape into his memories and his messed up sense of
reality. The play is filled the struggles he faces with his family and himself. It explores how far a man
s delusions can destroy his since of reality and does around him, as well as his inability to accept
change. One piece of evidence that shows that Willy cannot accept change when faced with it, is the
new cheese his wife Linda brought. Willy is a man that prefers swiss cheese and when Linda shows up
with this new type cheese, called whip cheese, he did not take it well. He said, I don t want change! I
want Swiss cheese. Page 1004 The whip cheese is a symbol of advancement in society and the fact
that willy is not willing to accept that, he is not willing to get with the times. Another example would
be when Willy s boss, Howard, showed off his new voice recorder. When the recorder suddenly turns
on, Willy became so distraught. He yells shut it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each time Willy loses himself in his memories, he does it to deny the current situation. Willy seems to
spend more time in the past to get a scene of balanced in his life. The harder reality becomes, the more
times he goes deep into his head. When Howard fires Willy, his older brother Ben shows up. Well, the
memory of him. Willy tells him, Ben, nothing s working out. I don t know what to do. Page 1045. Ben

Oppression By Langston Hughes
In the poem Oppression , written by Langston Hughes, the author leads us to believe that in many
countries there is the oppression of minorities, the fear of punishment for free thinking and yet the
hope of freedom. Throughout the world people in many countries suffer from subjugation. Now
dreams are not available to the dreamers... (Hughes) refers to the suppression of free thinking and
aspirations in those lands. Not only does the author make this point about injustice, he uses the

Chemical Warfare During The First World War Chemical Warfare in the First World War The First World War, while engulfing Europe with four years of death and destruction, also served as something of a testing ground, allowing nations to test and deploy the newest and most high tech weapons in their arsenals. It is from these experiences, on the bitter, mud drenched fields of Flanders, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere, that many technologies that shape the modern battlefield today, such as the air plane or the tank, were first put to use on a grand scale. It is here too, that another weapon was unleashed upon humanity for first time, but this one was deemed so sinister that the nations of the world near unanimously agreed to ban once the war ended. A weapon so awful that even today, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its use, however, despite its non lethality, served to set a dangerous precedent for the war. German planners wasted no time in developing their own incapacitating agents to retaliate with, and before long something of a chemical weapons arms race was underway. The German chemical response finally came that October, when British forces at Neuve Chapelle were hit with a wave of xylyl bromide, and apparently the Germans like what they saw. In January, they decided to turn their new weapon against the Russian army, in what they hoped would send their opponents running beneath a thick cloud of tear gas. To create this cloud, nearly 20,000 shells were filled with teargas and unleashed on the Russian positions west of Warsaw. Unfortunately for the Germans, however, they did not take into account the frigid conditions that occur in Central Poland in July, and most of the gas froze, the shells harmlessly falling to earth amongst a bewildered Czarist force. In light of the developments on the Eastern Front, as well as the fact that xylyl bromide was found to corrode metals and thus posed a logistics nightmare for the men transporting the shells, the German army began looking for alternatives and finally ... • 4. Analysis Of Alexis De Tocqueville s Life It was Monday, October 27th, 2014; Alexis De Tocqueville was casually heading down to the local election hall in Toronto for the municipal elections occurring that night. As he stepped in and stood in line for his turn, he noticed two individuals ahead of him. At closer inspection, he was in awe to realize these two gentlemen happened to be Adam Smith and Karl Marx, two great philosophers he had always wanted to meet and converse with. Smith and Marx, realizing their admirer staring, immediately recognized Tocqueville as well and at that moment, all three of their eyes lit in excitement. After turning in their votes, the three agreed to go to a nearby restaurant for some nachos because who does not like nachos after voting on a Monday night. Since they had just come from voting for the elections, it was only appropriate the topic of their discussion should be something related. De Tocqueville, taking the initiative when they had settled down, decided to throw a question to Marx and Smith after they had finished snacking on perfectly dressed nachos and having a few drinks. But before he could, Adam Smith declared he was too tired to go through what is about to occur, so they decided to just leave him as he passes out on his seat. • 5. Modern Cyber Attack And Its Effects On Society Traditional crimes, otherwise known as street crimes, violate state and federal laws without the use of a computer and/or internet. Rape, homicide, distribution/using of illegal substance, assault, burglary, breaking and entering, possession of unregistered firearm, etc. are some examples of traditional crime. Just like traditional crime, cybercrime is inevitable and unavoidable as long as computers and the internet are around. It can pick and choose its victims at random and although there are ways to lessen the chances, it is still virtually inescapable. Robbing a bank traditionally meant isolated incidents at individual banks. Cybercrime opens new doors to criminals where they have the power to defraud entire institutions in way that would not have been possible traditionally. (Carnaghan, 2013). The effects of a solitary, but thriving cyber attack can have an across the board implication together with a loss of trust, consumer confidence, financial losses, and theft of intellectual property. Three men named Kevin Mitinick, Kevin Poulsen, and Jeanson James Ancheta were found guilty and convicted of committing cybercrimes by hacking into computers and software systems. The opposition had several points as well, such as Philip was being disruptive, he twisted the story in his favor, and he was kindly asked to stop but repeatedly defied the teacher. I want to find out the historical situation behind the marchers who were beat and killed on that day and also look at John Lewis, and the key part that he played into the events that happened on that day and to also look at the reasoning behind the whole march. On March 7, 1965, a very famous five day, 54 long mile march of about 600 peaceful protestors took place from Selma, Alabama to the state capital Montgomery, Alabama. This was a very peaceful march that was caused by the Voting Rights Movement for African Americans in Selma. In Selma, African Americans made up more than half the population, but only a mere two percent were actual registered voters. Discrimination and intimidation tactics aimed at African American kept them from registering and voting. The demonstrators marched to demand fairness in voter registration. With over half the population of Selma being African American there is no reason or excuse besides ignorance for why only two percent had the right to vote. To give sort of a background to leading up to the march, in 1963 a group of community activists formed the Dallas County Improvement Association Dallas County being the actual county that Selma is in. With the goal of having White and Colored signs removed from public buildings, an investigation of police brutality against Africans Americans, and increased access to jobs and voter registration. • 9. The Theme Of Amnesia In The Novel The Return Of The Soldier William Tecumseh Sherman said it best in 1870, when he said: I tell you, war is Hell, and the First World War gave truth to that statement. From over four years, the entire world was embroiled in the throes of war. The allied nations of Britain, France, Imperial Russia and later America seemingly fought a just war against the aggression of Imperial Germany and Austria Hungary. The War to End all Wars may not have done what it s epithet claims, it was the war that opened up countless boxes for the world to explore. One such box was the coinage of the term shell shock This crude and blunt term was the first to recognize what we now call post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. Millions of men came home from the front with broken minds and people had to find a way to fix something that seemingly could not be fixed. In her 1918 novel, The Return of the Soldier, British author Rebecca West tackles the issue of mental health in a time when the human brain was even still an elusive enigma. She takes the example of a shell shocked soldier to explore the themes of how amnesia can touch the lives of not just the afflicted, the selfishness of those his ailment has affected, and the morality of their actions. When people try to think of an image of the First World War, they think of the horrors of trenches that stretched from Belgium to Switzerland and the tens of millions of men that inhabited them. • 10. Tennessee V. Garner 1985 Tennessee v. Garner 1985 was a case that was the deciding factor that made it no longer acceptable for a police officer to use deadly force to inhibit a criminal from fleeing the scene. The only way that an officer would be able to do this is if the criminal was showing that they were going to be a greater threat if they were not dealt with immediately than they would be if they were just to continue pursuit of the person. This was a change to the old common law that if a criminal was trying to escape or flee from a scene a police officer was able to shoot and kill the suspect or they were also able to shoot warning shots to try to get the person to stop. When looking at the case the judges were trying to see if there was an issue since the officer had reason to believe that the suspect was unarmed and not dangerous. One of the big factors that made the case an issue was that while the officer shot the young man he was only acting under the rules that he was allowed to follow. If the criminal was trying to evade arrest they could use deadly force in order to finish the arrest. The officer had a thought that if the young man had made it over the fence that he would have evaded the arrest totally. Another detail of the court was that they said the boy was under seizure of the police since the police had tried to detain him of his freedom to leave which had been decided in another court case back in 1975. The outcome of the case was 6 3 in favor of yes, that deadly force could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, all those things make ones similar and different from others. In his book, The Hobbit , the author J.R.R Tolkien describes the hobbit, dwarves, and elves. Also in chapter 15 about the dwarves, it is said that Then Thorin burst forth in anger. Our thanks, Rac Carc s son. You and your people shall not be forgotten. • 12. Chaucer s Retraction In The Canterbury Tales Essay Different scholars have had different understandings of Chaucer s Retraction and The Canterbury Tales. The divergent views have drawn different interpretations of the intended meaning and the context of its existence. Many scholars believe that The Parson s Tale was Chaucer s final work. Some people feel Chaucer s Retraction was the final one in the collection, while others doubt that Chaucer was the real author of the repudiation. This dilemma is implored by the fact the retraction completely disowns the earlier versions of Chaucer s works. Those who agree that Chaucer s Retraction is the actual work of Geoffrey Chaucer give several reasons why he disowned his work. They explain what he sought to achieve and how the retraction relates to The Parson s Tale and the whole framework of The Canterbury Tales. The fact that Chaucer s main reason of retracting his tales in The Canterbury Tales is to avoid accusations arising from writing some of the tales is no secret. The fictions rather use some words and an approach that at the time would have sounded offensive to the pilgrimage or as a criticism of the church. • 15. America s First Income Tax Law The nation had few taxes in its early history. From 1791 to 1802, the United States government was supported by internal taxes on distilled spirits, carriages, refined sugar, tobacco and snuff, property sold at auction, corporate bonds, and slaves. The high cost of the War of 1812 brought about the nation s first sales taxes on gold, silverware, jewelry, and watches. In 1817, however, Congress did away with all internal taxes, relying on tariffs on imported goods to provide sufficient funds for running the government. In 1862, in order to support the Civil War effort, Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law. It was a forerunner of our modern income tax in that it was based on the principles of graduated, or progressive, taxation and of withholding income at the source. During the Civil War, a person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the rate of 3%. Those with incomes of more than $10,000 paid taxes at a higher rate. Additional sales and excise taxes were added, and an inheritance tax also made its debut. In 1866, internal revenue collections reached their highest point in the nation s 90 year history more than $310 million, an amount not reached again until 1911. Thomas uses old age, wise men, wild men, and grave men to give examples to deliver his message. Thomas starts the poem off by talking about men in their old age. Nursing theory serves as the foundation on which to develop a personal philosophy and characterizes nursing as a profession based on the art of caring and science. If higher education is to be a crucial sphere for creating citizens equipped to understand others, exercise their freedoms, and ask questions regarding the basic assumptions that govern democratic political life, academics will have to assume their responsibility as citizen scholars, take critical positions, relate their work to larger social issues, offer students knowledge, debate, and dialogue about pressing social problems, and provide the conditions for students to have hope and believe that civic life not only matters but that they can make a difference in shaping it (Giroux, 2006). The nurse and nurse educator share the same s personal philosophy of nursing acquired through knowledge and life experiences. Wiedenbach believed that nurses philosophy was based on their attitude, belief about life and how they reflected reality for them. • 23. Depression and Antidepressants Essay Depression and Antidepressants Specifically the serotonergic hypothesis and the action of Prozac The cause of Clinical depression has long been a mystery to physicians and researchers. Many different theories have been proposed, but no conclusive evidence has been put forth. However, most of what we know about depression stems from the results of certain drugs which have been successful in treating the clinically depressed. These anti depressants have led to the assumption that depression is most likely due to a chemical imbalance (of neurotransmitters) which somehow leads to the symptoms of depression. To try and write a paper on all the theories of depression would be endless, as would be a study on all the different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pertinent findings will be explained, and their implications on future anti depressants will be addressed. Many clinical studies have been used to suggest a role for serotonin in the propensity for depression or suicidal tendencies. Most of these studies measured the level of serotonin in the CSF in certain individuals. Results established a link between reduced serotonin neurotransmission and aggression, impulsivity, depression, and suicidal tendencies. Other data, using markers in presynaptic and postsynaptic serotonergic neurons have shown that reduction in serotonin neurotransmission is a biochemical risk factor for suicide (1). Other clinical studies have implicated fluoxetine s effects on serotonin neurotransmitters, based on the fact that serotonin is synthesized from the essential amino acid tryptophan. Patients taking fluoxetine who were in remission from major depression were given a special diet which was tryptophan free. This rapidly decreased plasma serotonin levels, and after a short period of time (as little as 30 minutes) many of the patients began to have signs of specific depressive symptoms. Later, the reappearance of more general depressive symptoms were observed in a majority of the patients. Thus it was shown that fluoxetine has a profound effect on the neurotransmitter serotonin, and decreased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to stop illegal immigrants and drug smugglers from entering the U.S. from Mexico through the border, a wall must be built. In previous years, many countries and territories around the world have attempted to build walls, and many have had very much success. For example, Most of the walls built after World War 2 and the Cold War still exist today. There were a total of 110 walls built between that time period. Dyslexia literally translated from Greek as inadequate words or language is a learning disability characterised by problems with reading, writing, spelling and speaking. The most common definition of dyslexia is the discrepancy definition, which suggests that dyslexics are those whose reading ability is below average for their age group, or IQ. The first case of dyslexia was reported in 1896 by Dr. Pringle Morgan, who described an intelligent 14 year old boy who had an inability to read, as suffering from as Pringle Morgan believed word blindness resulting from deficiencies in visual processing. Gallagher, Frith and Snowling (submitted) demonstrated that 4 year old children from families with a first degree relative suffering from dyslexia performed worse on tests of language and speech processing, compared to children from non dyslexic families. This study supports the phonological deficit hypothesis as it suggests that dyslexic children show early deficiencies in speech production. Although the role of heritability is important to consider, due to the real world implications it has of helping to identify at risk children who are more likely to develop dyslexia, it cannot explain why there is only a 50 per cent rate of heritability for dyslexia. There has also been very little research into the heritability of either deficits in visual processing, or cerebellar abnormality. Despite the support for the phonological deficit hypothesis, one of the main criticisms of the theory is that it fails to acknowledge possible deficits in visual processing which may cause dyslexia. The visual magnocellular deficit hypothesis (Stein, 2000) suggests that dyslexia may be caused by deficiencies within visual processing; specifically within the magnocellular system, which is responsible among other things for timing visual events when reading (Stein, 2001). Therefore, if our eyes wander whilst reading, the magnocellular is responsible for bringing our focus back on target. In dyslexics, it is suggested that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This console, although seemingly expensive, is much more cost effective than paying for an entire studio, and can achieve nearly the same results. The real benefit of a digital recording console, however, is the creative control it bestows upon musicians. Instead of having a producer who dictates how the recording should sound, the musician becomes the producer, giving him complete control over all aspects of the composition. Additionally, because of the cost of studio recording, a musician s time in the studio is usually limited. However, with a personal digital recording console, one can freely experiment with new ideas without time constraints. While this unmediated recording environment theoretically provides an artist with unlimited creative flexibility, it also allows for detrimental misuse in the form of non original composition, which can negate the creative possibilities of this new artistic process. INTRODUCTION 1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design, spatial development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface, including the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use patterns can have diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more accessible and so reduce transportation costs to businesses and consumers. Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one location to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has no purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the globalization of trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking advantage of transportation at different, but often related, scales. • 39. Pricing Schemes Of The Price Of Consumer Surplus Essay Uniform pricing does not generate the maximum possible total revenue because it generates consumer surplus (Thomas Maurice, 2013). Consumer surplus is the area under demand and above market price over the range of output sold in the market (Thomas Maurice, 2013). Managers devise pricing schemes to capture consumer surplus and turn it into profit (Thomas Maurice, 2013). A firm charges different prices for the same product to increase profits which is called price discrimination (Thomas Maurice, 2013). There are different groups of buyers with various elasticities of demand and are therefore willing to pay different prices. The definition of price discrimination requires the exact same product be sold at different prices and the cost must be the same for each market (Thomas Maurice, 2013). Under first degree price discrimination, every unit is sold for the maximum price each consumer is willing to pay, which theoretically allows the firm to capture the full amount of consumer surplus. However, this requires a tremendous amount of knowledge and information about each consumer and their willingness to pay for a product (Thomas Maurice, 2013). This can generate more profit than uniform pricing because of the haggle factor . Sellers who negotiate prices for each individual customer are practicing first degree price discrimination.
