Analysis Of We Were Soldiers
Rachel Smith We Were Soldiers Film Analysis The film We Were Soldiers depicts the 1965 Battle of
Ia Drang in Vietnam. The film follows Lt. Col. Harold Moore and his men as they are send to fight at
the first major American battle in Vietnam. The film also shows the impact this battle had on the home
front and showed how the war impacted the soldier s wives waiting at home. The dramatization
attempts to show how the Americans were introduced to the Vietnam War and how they fought
viciously against an elusive, dedicated enemy. Director Randall Wallace uses the film to point out
characteristics of the Vietnam War. One thing he tries to focus on is that fact that the United States did
not realize the magnitude of the fight they were about to join. When they are first dropped in to the Ia
Drang valley they capture the NVA lookout and ask him where his men are. They are shocked to learn
that there are 4,000 NVA soldiers waiting for them in the mountains. The lookout also tells them that,
It s same army that destroyed French. They want to kill Americans very badly... but they have not been
able to find any yet. This quote shows that the NVAArmy has been fighting for much longer and are
more invested in the fight than the Americans were, something that was not clear to the original
American troops. There are also specific characteristic that the film tried to point out about Americas
war in Vietnam. One thing he tried to show is how young the troopers were. The film

Continuing Professional Development In Nursing
Continuing professional development is essential in the health care system particularly for the nurses
so they can maintain the knowledge and understanding about up to date health trends, policies,
treatments and techniques. It also provides the opportunity for nurses to maintain, improve and
broaden their knowledge, expertise and develop the personal and professional qualities required
throughout their personal lives (AHPRA, CPD, 2016, page 1). Nurses are individually responsible for
the delivery of safe and competent nursing care and each nurse is accountable for their practice.
Nurses must ensure that, the people are treated according to person centered care. We should consider
their dignity and their ability to choose the best care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Hegney, continuing professional development is an ongoing learning which describe the
knowledge and skills transfer undertaken by practicing registered nurses the aim of maintaining to

the ageing population and complex health care needs so through regular, useful and well targeted CPD
we advances our skills and knowledge for more challenging patient profile, strategies to improve
resilience and reduce burnout ( Aitken et al., 2011).Moreover, CPD extends the opportunity for us to
keep engaged in and up skill in evidence based practice principles which basically translates to better
job satisfaction and professional commitment and continued improvement in patient care( Tourangeau

Sexual predators suffer from low self esteem with a need for power and control. They lack empathy.
Many reported offenders are male, with a history of abuse and a troubled childhood. Men are child
molesters in at least ninety seven percent of reported cases (Sanford, 83). One investigation noted
eighty percent of sexual offenders had committed their first crime by age of thirty with all by the age
of forty. Between 200 and 300 men are prosecuted to every one woman (Sanford, 83). Research has
uncovered repeated drug and/or alcohol abuse issues among convicted predators. Lastly, sexual
offenders suffer from deviant sexual behavior and attitudes (Henderson, 39). Further exploration
discovered that the choice of sexual expression correlates more to the child s age then the offenders
(Sanford, 87). Offenders do not form intimate relationships with other adults (Henderson, 39). Eight
five percent of sexual activity was nonorgasmic with one fourth of activity ending before any
stimulation occurred by the offender (Sanford, 83). Now that we know some offenders characteristics,
it is paramount that we learn to identify traits that may be common to youthful victims.

Effective Use Of Connotation In Tony Blair s Speech
The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in his speech, about September 11, 2001, demonstrated to the

Most fugitive muggle born, half blood, and blood traitors had been picked down one by one. In the
beginning, after the battle had been once, they scattered by roaches. It had been easy enough to find
various safe house as they stupidly hid in hordes, clinging together. Sure, one or two would fight,
however the others would look on with hopelessness shimmering in their eyes.
Not every fugitive was returned to Azkaban. Most of the males were killed simply because they

Despite the inevitable wear that sprung from years in Azkaban, Rabastan had still managed to retain a
youthful, somewhat cruel spirit. Now, however, the lines in his face had deepened and his eyes had
grown weary. There were many a night that Antonin and Rabastan spent in the Lestrange parlor with a
glass of Fire Whiskey and the bitter tongue that came from the fatigue spawned from a cause that
neither had enough heart left to advocate.
As he and Rabastan looked upon the row of girls with hollow cheeks and sickly skin, Antonin could
not identify who he hated more: Rabastan who convinced him to come, or himself, who agreed.
The girls wore the dirty, striped rags of Azkaban prison. Some had bruised faces. Others still had the
tears of dried blood stuck in place that told of past punishments. They were connected by glowing
shackles on their wrists that emitted a power surge of energy.
Alecto Carrow seemed to take pleasure in her position as warden to the new women s ward in
Azkaban. Her cruel eyes and yellow sneer in the direction of the girls was disconcerting. Upon further
examination, Antonin spotted a large, blunt ring on one of her fingers that was the exact size as some
of the marks on the girls skin.
Rabastan looked over the girls, the excitement worn away as he took in the appalling sight. Antonin
chose to stare at the floor.

Advancement of minorities in higher education has many barriers. As it relates to colleges and
universities, true ethical issues consistently remain dormant in some cases (Wolfe Freeman, 2013). For
example, Jackson (2001) stated that there is a small pool of qualified candidates to select from because
of the percentage of degrees being awarded. For example, 2011, approximately 13% of earned
doctorate were awarded to underrepresentation minorities (U.S. Department of Education, National
Center for Education Statistics, 2012). Therefore, with these limited numbers the potential candidates
are not available. Within my chosen field minorities involvement in agriculture remains limited. In
addition, recent demographic trends estimate that ethnic minority populations are steadily increasing,
and in some areas are reaching the tipping point to become the majority. For this reason, I am
primarily interested in bringing more awareness in agricultural and extension education that focuses
on diverse communities that are normally uninvolved in the opportunities in the agricultural industry.

Textual Analysis Of The Movie Bye Birdie
In the beginning of the film the audience is first welcome with Rose Perez (Tina) dancing against the
back drop of Brooklyn brownstone stairs. This is supported by the film theme song Fight the Power by
Public enemy which is heard blaring in the background while the character is dancing. The tone of the
song seems quite aggressive if not rebellious, this was due to the fact that the song was going to be
used as a leitmotif throughout the film similar to other films like Indian jones (Steven Spielberg) and
even under the skin (Jonathan Glazer).
It was said that Spike Lee gained his stylistic inspiration from films Bye Bye birdie (George Birdie)

Four Forms Of Archetypes In The Anima By Carl Gustav Jung
Psychologist Carl Gustav Jung described several archetypes that are based in the observation of
differing but repeating patterns of thought and action that re appear time and again across people,
countries and continents. Jung s main archetypes are not types in the way that each person may be
classified as one or the other. Rather, we each have all basic archetypes within us. He listed four main
forms of archetypes: The Shadow The Anima The Animus The Self The Shadow is a very common
archetype that reflects deeper elements of our psyche, where latent dispositions which are common to
us all arise. It is, by its name, dark, shadowy, unknown and potentially troubling. It embodies chaos
and wildness of character. The shadow thus tends not to obey rules, In myth, it appears as the wild

It may seduce through false friendship or threaten with callous disregard. Encounters with it, as an
aspect of the subconscious, may reveal deeper thoughts and fears. It may also take over direct physical
action when the person is confused, dazed or drugged. the second most prevalent pattern is that of the
Anima (female) / Animus (male), or, more simply, the Soul, and is the route to communication with
the collective unconscious. The anima/animus represents our true self, as opposed to the masks we
wear every day and is the source of our creativity. In fiction, heroes, super heroes and gods may

Case Problem Analysis Paper
Purchasing a car is never an easy decisions but many times a car is a necessity. The scenario presented
will be the following. The price of the used car is $20,000. Sales tax on this car is 8.4% of the price of
the vehicle. You intend to finance the entire cost of the car and sales tax, less a down payment of
$1,500. You intend to finance the car for 48 months and your car payment will be $455.12 per month.
The amount financed will be the cash price subtracting the down payment. In this case, the cash price
will be $20,000 and the down payment is $1,500. After subtracting these two amounts, I obtained that
the amount financed will be $18,500. The installment price of the car will be $23,345.76. This amount
is obtained by multiplying the amounts of financing by the monthly rate (48 x $455.12) which will
equal $21,845.76 in addition you must add the down payment of $1,500 to get the total value of the
car. Finance charges will be the total amount of $23,345.76 minus the cash price of $20,000.00. This
will leave a finance charges to equal $3,345.76. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heroic Actions In The Odyssey
In the Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as an hero after the Trojan war, however, he showed signs of
villainous acts throughout the story that were overshadowed by his, questionably, heroic actions. An

cannibal! Eater of guess under your roof! Zeus and the gods have paid you! (Odyssey, P.g 383) Due to

The ANZAC Legend Essay
The ANZAC Legend
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly
became known as ANZACS, and the pride they soon took in that name endures to this day.
The ANZAC legend began with the landing at Gallipoli on April 25 1915, signaling the start of the
disastrous Dardanelles campaign on the Turk Peninsula. This campaign saw thousands of ANZAC
fatalities before its conclusion in January 1916. Significantly, the ANZAC legend is the result of a
devastating loss, rather than a great victory. The soldiers are remembered for maintaining courage and
determination under hopeless conditions.
The ANZAC legend owes much to wartime correspondents who used the ... Show more content on

In wartime propaganda, the ANZAC forces were portrayed as the loyal sons of the British Empire,
fighting as much for the mother country as for their own. Beyond the military campaign, the ANZAC
soldiers represented the ethos of their rural Australian background. The values of equality, good humor
and mateship were transplanted to the situation in Turkey.
It is easy to understand why the ANZAC legend became so popular. The Gallipoli campaign was
described as the baptism of the newly federated Australia, and a chance for Australian soldiers to
prove themselves to the world. They were not ultimately victorious, but the soldiers came to represent
the character traits of the new country: fit and healthy, duty bound and courageous, good humored and
egalitarian. The ANZAC image allowed Australians to both demonstrate loyalty to Britain, and claim
an identity of their own.
There is much to challenge the factual accuracy of the ANZAC image. The idea that Australians were
loyal Britons was questionable even in 1915. At the time, over 80% of Australians were Australian
born, not English. Archbishop Mannix expressed the discrepancies in the ANZAC image in a wartime
statement that England is not my motherland ... indeed it is my stepsister . Publications in existence
from the nineteenth century, such as The Bulletin , rejected

The Realm Of Collegiate Athletics
The realm of collegiate athletics is made up of participants that hail from all walks of life. In many
instances the athletic programs that make up the university can be considered the most diverse group
on campus. The will to win largely attracts participants from every conceivable ethnic and
demographic background. The diversity and racial composition of athletic programs can provide
opportunities for athletes to learn about people who are different than themselves, help improve
interracial understanding, and help reduce prejudice among groups. Although diversity among student
athletes is a favorable goal, it is important that the coaches, athletic counselors, or anyone working
with student athletes have practices and procedures in place to immerse athletes within the culture of

Lesson And What Exactly Took Place Throughout The Lesson
After reviewing the lesson and what exactly took place throughout the lesson, it is safe to say that
learning occurred. This lesson was focused on taking knowledge from previous years as well as the
previous lesson I implemented and putting it to use. The students were given a range of materials to
create their own graph. They had to create their data as well that goes along with the desired graph that
they planned to create. Due to the fact that the writing aspect was taken out due to time constrictions,
the students in place, had to come up with 5 questions about their graph that their classmates could
answer. When the students presented their graphs and questions, each student was able to successfully
answer their classmates questions about their graphs. All was labeled and designed on their graphs
correctly. This lesson was cut very short, so going off of the graphs and questions the students turned
in as well as the discussion the students engaged in, I feel as if learning definitely occurred. When
looking back at the objectives I had designed for this lesson plan, be able to choose the right graph
that will best represent your data including bar graphs, line graphs, circle graphs and picture graphs as
well as to be able to explain the graph that you created and the questions that you have created that go
along with your created graph I feel as if they were clearly met by all 6 students. If anything, the piece
of the second objective stating, to be able to

How Technology Has Become Increasingly Globalized And Is...
Technology has become increasingly globalized and is now a key utility that is both easily accessible
and convenient in daily life. With the added perpetual use of the Internet, many people blindly trust
their familiar devices and have little to no reluctance about exposing their personal information online.
What many fail to recognize is that tech companies such as Facebook and Google track their online
activity and are incessantly storing and selling their information. A user may also willingly offer their
information to these companies when they ask for it under the guise of personalizing the user s
experience. Often times the user s information is sold to feature advertisements that are tailored to

Taoism And Confucianism Comparison
Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism have influenced each other and have similar principles. For
example, the wisdom, justice, courage, and moderation are considered the key concepts of
Confucianism and Buddhism. Additionally, the leader of the Taoists faith and philosophy, Lao Tzi, had
Buddhist and Confusion influences in his life that led to the development of Taoism. For example, Lao
Tzi wrote Dao de Ching, which translates to Book of the Way and gives 81 ideas for wisdom, a key
concept of Confucianism and Taoism. Even though both Confucianism and Taoism believe in the Yin
Yang, the principle of balancing chaos in the world, they have distinct differences which distinguish
these two schools of philosophy. For example, Confucianism supports

Joel s Social Skills
There are several goals that we have for Joel to improve on his social skills. One objective that we
have for Joel is to reduce passive aggressive behaviors toward others. This would include specific
examples such as rolling his eyes when a student says a wrong answer as this may lead to further
ostracism and increased likelihood of being bullied. Furthermore, another social orientated objective
relates to him being less withdrawn and shy. By taking chances and making himself more vulnerable,
is will allow him to be less tense with his peers. This in turn, will result in more socializing between
Joel and his peers.

Though it can be used for individuals with mental illness, it is also a solid fit for individuals such as
Joel that could benefit from the teaching of these skills. This is because Social Skills Training (SST)
involves the systematic teaching of interpersonal skills through the practice and demonstration of
those skills (Mueser Bellack, 2007).
Joel and his fellow group members will be taught social skills during group counseling sessions. A
large part of this will be taught through role playing common social scenarios with group members.
Role playing is effective because it allows clients such as Joel to watch these skills be demonstrated
by others in addition to practicing them himself (Mueser Bellack, 2007). Once Joel and his group
members practice these improved social behaviors they will be provided with positive feedback on
what they did well and corrective feedback on how they could have done better.
In addition to role playing, Joel will be provided with assignments to practice what he learned during
naturally occurring situations. For example, when Joel is frustrated with other students in the class for
not being able to keep up or answer questions correctly, he can practice keeping his thoughts to
himself and/or engages in more supportive behavior. This may include the avoidance of showing his
dissatisfaction with other students (i.e. rolling eyes) and trying to help his fellow students when they

Fracking for natural gas
#### this is written terribly ###### Have you ever imagine the earth run out of resources, especially
gasoline? The most significant energy we use to take for granted may be in tight supply. It would be a
major inconvenience for us. That s why I am here to discuss about it, that s why I am here to save the
earth, and that s why I want all of you to join with me today. With fossil fuels nearing extinction, the
United States has very limited options for providing the country s millions of energy consumers with
an energy source that is affordable and cost effective ; therefore, the solution is hydraulic fracking,
also known as fracking, Natural Gas has the capabilities of fueling American cars and homes for the
next hundred years, and the best part is the United States is the largest supplier of natural gas. Let s
broke it down to 3 major parts: first, how fracking natural gas affects our environment, second how it
is going to boost up the economy, and third how it makes the United States becomes energy
independent. First of all, in 2009, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a thorough
report on natural gas in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, and Montana. After the tedious examination,
the EPA concluded that water contamination could not accurately be tied with fracking. (Groundwater
Investigation, EPA) This is a new energy source, and a new energy extraction process, so radical
environmentalists have to agree with the EPA, that the evidence is not cogent

The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century
The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing place, therefore
describing theatre as a place where you go see things. There are 2 types of definitions for Theatre; the
hardware and the software . The hardware being definitions like indicating where films are shown or
metaphorically refers to a place where wars and surgeries occur like theatre of operations The
software definition of theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people that
compose plays.
The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and spectators
watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and made big enough to sit
everyone. The audience would be located would be in an elevated area and the actors below. Roman
theatres were elaborate and embellished with marble carvings and gilded columns. Theaters built in
the 18th and 19th century are still open and operating today. Theatres are fundamental to urban
architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large group of people working
together on a single performance. These groups can be called companies or troupes that tour cities to
present a play. These companies are self contained production units capable of writing, preparing and
presenting works to a point where some have become legendary, like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of
London, which Shakespeare was a part of.
Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

Article Info ABSTRACT
Subspace model identification (SMI) method is the effective method in identifying dynamic state
space linear multivariable systems. Subspace identification, a sequence of state vectors can be
obtained directly from the input and output data. From a numerical point of view, the SMI algorithms
are not appropriate for online implementation because of the SVD computational complexity. For
industrial applications, it is essential to have online recursive algorithms for model identification,
where parameters can vary in time. Indeed, in many online identification scenarios, it is important to
update the model as time goes on with a reduced computational cost. The main problem with recursive
subspace identification is the SVD computation that is burdensome to update. Thus, it is necessary to
find the alternative algorithms in order to apply the subspace concept in a recursive framework. In this
paper, recursive subspace identification algorithm based on the propagator method which avoid the
SVD computation is proposed.

education and love.
2a) Adichie uses a narrative point of view to explore the theme of domestic violence. The book is
narrated in the first person by a 15 year old who is directly affected by domestic violence. Because of
her young age she is quiet honest and this allows her to paint a great picture to the audience of the
brutal abuse that Eugene bestows upon his family. This is as a result of her sensitive, intelligent and
observant nature.

household. This setting is the only setting in the entire book where domestic violence is present.
Adichie uses a variety of things and rooms within this setting to bring out domestic violence some
examples are the figurines, Eugene and Beatrice s room and the bathroom.
4b) the entire setting of Nigeria brings out the theme of oppression especially political oppression. All
of Nigeria is suffering as a result of the political oppression, including Abba Town, Enugu and Ifeoma
s village. The road setting also shows political oppression, especially when persons are stopped and
searched by the military for no good reason.
4c) Religion is explored through setting, Adichie uses Aunty Ifeoma s home to teach Kambili things
about religion different that she had been taught be her father. It was in Aunty Ifeoma s house that
Kambili understood her grandfather s traditionalist religion and was able to make a link between
Catholicism and Traditionalist.

the many young girls in the school who get married then allow their husbands to own them and their
degrees.

The Cult Of True Womanhood In The 19th Century
Throughout all of history there has a been a very important question that many have tried to answer.
What is the role of women in society? In the 19th century, the Cult of Domesticity, also known as the
Cult of True Womanhood, was introduced as an attempt to answer this question. The Cult of True
Womanhood introduced a set of beliefs about gender roles that became so widely popular they could
be found in magazines, newspapers, and throughout all of the famous cultures. Our modern 21st
century still recognizes and practices the three factors of purity, submissiveness, and domesticity,
which were greatly upheld by the cult.
Purity is the impression that a True Woman Waits. For the duration of the 19th century a female was
not considered a woman without her sexual purity. Females were seen as fallen woman unworthy of
love and unfit for their company if they did not wait until marriage to have sexual intercourse. Young
ladies were told that they must guard their treasure (virginity) with their life. During this time, a
woman s only power was her sexual virtue for the man bears rule over his wife s person and conduct.
She bears rule over his inclinations: he governs by law; she by persuasion... [her] empire [is her]
softness, her commands are caresses . This notion created a new purity fetish in which Americans
began to talk about limbs instead of legs and white meat rather than breast meat. Women began
covering their furnisher legs with fabric so no one will be reminded of

Spinal Cord Injury Essay example
Running head: SPINAL CORD INJURY
Spinal Cord Injury
Shannon G. Johnston, RN, CEN
Liberty University
Abstract
There are many types of spinal cord injuries (SCI). Patients with SCI can symptoms that range from
mild neurologic impairment (such as numbness and tingling of extremities or neck pain) to
devastating total body paralysis depending on the extent of damage and where in the spinal cord the
damage occurs. Management of airway, breathing and circulation are key with SCI patients, as well as
immediate immobilization. With proper care and intervention, chances of survival are greatly
improved.
Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) most commonly occur as a result of falls, motor vehicle accidents,
violence, sports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These injuries can also be classified as complete or incomplete. A complete SCI indicates no motor
function below the site of injury while incomplete SCIs can have some remaining level of sensory
and/or motor function below the level of injury.
Most vertebral injuries occur along the most mobile areas of the spinal cord, including C1 C2, C4 C7,
and T10 L2 (Huether, 2010). All of these injuries have the potential to be devastating. Spinal shock
can occur, resulting in complete loss of function. This is a temporary occurrence and usually lasts up
to 3 months after injury. It involves paralysis, loss of reflex, loss of bladder/bowel control and sexual
dysfunction. It can also cause systemic changes, such as loss of temperature control, decrease in blood
pressure, and poor venous circulation. When function returns, it is usually demonstrated by return of
movement, reflexes, and bowel/bladder control (Heuther, 2008).
As function returns, an uncompensated cardiovascular response can occur called autonomic
hyperreflexia. This is a life threatening emergency and must be treated immediately. If left untreated,
the result is death. Autonomic hyperreflexia displays as a dramatic rise in blood pressure, pounding
headache, excessive diaphoresis (sweating), nausea and bradycardia. This is caused by stimulation of
the skin or pain

Sadly sometimes people they know will die, such as their grandparents or other relatives, or even
friends, and this would be difficult to cope with on top of other stresses they might have. It is a very
serious and sad fact that nearly a quarter of teenagers have suffered some form of abuse in Britain,
which is about 1 in 30 people, this could lead to trauma and an inability to work or concentrate
knowing that this is happening, also they may feel scared to speak up about it and never have this
problem fixed, causing them to be shy and have an inability to trust people. they could also find a
different way to cope with it like excessive eating and get an eating disorder, self harming or drug use.
Also teenagers have a very specific stereotype hoody, jeans, vandalism, violence and chav but with
this the youths can either stoop to social pressure and dress like everyone else or they can be an
outcast and be individual, it is extremely rare that you find an individual person being accepted by
teenagers. Some of these stereotypes are correct for some people, like stealing and looking for fights

that they should cross the street rather than walking through a crowd of chavs . Teenagers can have

When The Housing Market Collapse
When the housing market collapse occurred I was much younger and not fully aware or advised of
how serious the situation really was. Several of my family members owned homes then, but looking
back now they sheltered their children from the situation completely. I realized still to this day I do not
know how or what they were doing to get through the market collapse but I realize my situation could
have been much worse. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a home someday like
many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. But just like a growing society its
citizens must learn from previous mistakes made in order to avoid the same outcomes and flourish.
Here are just some of the lessons we must learn from:
First you must do your own research. If you are seriously looking for a home look into everything you
can think of and then research some more. If you have a partner then you will be able to expand your
research with two different points of views and get more results. Don t depend on Wall Street and their
outlooks for the future because in reality it is a game of chances. Just because someone says jump off
a bridge into shallow water because you won t drown would you do it? The people on Wall Street and
those in charge (unless psychic) can t predict the future.
Another lesson learned: Mortgage debt is real debt and must be paid eventually. A lot of home owners
would refinance their homes for extra cash but you can t do that forever.

The Central Nervous System
Famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once said, Everything we do, every thought we ve ever
had, is produced by the human brain. But exactly how it operates remains one of the biggest unsolved
mysteries, and it seems the more we probe its secrets, the more surprises we find (BrainyQuote). The
brain is like a galaxy. There is general knowledge of the universe; however, new secrets of planets,
moons, and stars are discovered on a daily basis. Similarly, scientists know the basic structure and
functions of the brain, but new aspects of the brain are revealed everyday.
The brain is part of the central nervous system (CNS). Its role is to receive signals, decode the signals,
and send response signals down the spinal cord to the rest of the body. Signals are received from
different parts of the brain depending on which sensory organs receive stimuli (Carter, Gray 697).
Once sensory organs receive stimuli, stimuli are transmitted to sensory memories, which are
physiological parts of the nervous system [that directly sensors to the brain] (Kinster, Grobstein).
Sensory memories then pass selected stimuli to hippocampus in the forebrain, and the hippocampus
sends the integrated memory to neurons in the form of electrical impulses (Mohs). The human brain is
similar to the Congress in that thousands of bills are introduced in the Congress, but only a few bills
that are deemed to have significance move on to categorical committees. Resembling the journey of
bills,

Magnet School Research
Thousands of students are gifted who are looking for a better education to suit their learning needs.
Magnet schools are the solution to this problem. Magnet schools are academically selective public
schools which can teach students on a particular focus such as math and science, but can improve by
providing students an enhanced learning experience by changing the modern day classroom. Just by
changing how the modern day classroom runs, students can learn more efficiently and be more likely
to behave and be more successful in life. Magnet schools are public schools with specialized
curriculums and classes. The magnet in magnet school refers to bringing students across the normal
boundaries given by officials ( A Brief History of Magnet Schools ). Most magnet schools in America
are academically selective ( Magnet School Wikipedia). They usually have a narrow focus such as
math and science opposed to regular public schools that have a more generalized focus. Other than
providing gifted students a more academically in depth education, magnet schools are also built to
avoid racial discrimination in some areas of the nation. Applications are usually required to get into
magnet schools and programs. They sometimes require an entrance examination, interview, or
audition. A few magnet schools use the lottery system where the applicants are chosen at random. The
major keys magnet schools look at when applying is race, for a diverse population, and academic

Disadvantages Of Humans And Technology
Humans and technology, the two words are synonymous of one another in a way. One of them would
have never existed if not imagined by the other. As humans, we have created technology to help us
with our everyday lives. We are constantly in the pursuit of advancing technology to do more and

technology closer than they ever have been before. Walking and talking humanoid robots might still

The Root Of Happiness In American Culture
Money seems to be the root of happiness in the American culture. Without money, Americans are
unhappy and discontent with their lives. We are a materialistic breed, meaning we are prone to
expecting money to be the source of our happiness. Although there are several instances where money
is not the direct source of happiness, most of the time it has a large affect on a person s level of
happiness. Although money seems to be the cause of happiness in most cases, it is not. Money, in
today s world is almost necessary to achieve happiness, but not in all of society. Money cannot buy
appreciation, but it does go a long way when talking about a dollar amount or even what you have.
Sure, appreciation will not buy you nice things. The things you have, value, and love cannot be

The Theory of Evolution Essay
The theory of evolution by natural selection does not interfere with the Judeo Christian view of god as
the creator, based on multiple sources including statements from the Pope himself. Although
throughout history there are many instances of conflict between people, science, and the Catholic
Church, there has recently been a widespread acceptance for science and many even say it does not
interfere with the Judeo Christian view of god as the creator. This essay will discuss the different types
of views there are on evolution and creation, as well as go in depth to prove how evolution by natural
selection does not interfere with the Judeo Christian view on evolution. There are many different
views on evolution. The first is scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Akin) Galileo was a prime example of a conflict between the Catholic Church and science. He was a
devout roman catholic, however a great scientist. Galileo had many contributions to the world such as
the telescope and his many discoveries in outer space. However one of the more widely recognized
was his support to Copernicus theory of heliocentricity. Before this the church had stated that the sun
revolved around the earth, known as the theory of geocenctricity. Galileo s teachings were
consequently banned by the church, and Galileo himself imprisoned. However, in 1992 the Vatican
under Pope John Paul II held a ceremony to proclaim that Galileo was right in his findings and support
of Copernicus. (Tracts) This shows that the present day church does not see science as a threat or
interference to its teachings. The present day church actually supports science, as well as the theory of
evolution by natural selection. However, although evolution is widely accepted by many Popes, as
well as the Catholic Church, many things are still maintained. It is still maintained that Adam was the
first human and all life originated from him. The church still says that all humans have souls. The
church insists that a soul is unobservable; therefore it is untestable by science since it has no effect on
the natural world, and science cannot confirm or deny its existence. The big bang theory is

The Importance Of Adoption In America
Adoption in America
There are many women who, unfortunately, cannot conceive. These women suffer far beyond
infertility. There are also many children who are awaiting adoption, suffering. Families seeking to
adopt are looking for children because most can t have their own. Some families seeking to adopt just
want to offer these children a better life and give them a forever home. Adoption is a good deed, you
re putting children in homes and giving them love that they desire. Families on a tighter income who
cannot conceive probably wouldn t be able to afford to adopt, which is heart breaking. There are so
many children who will never know the love of a parent due to how difficult it is to adopt in America.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Opinion Mining
The work of a complete review or opinion mining application might involve attacking each of the
following problems. If the application is integrated into a general purpose search engine, then one
would need to determine whether the user is in fact looking for subjective material. This may or may
not be a difficult problem in and of it: perhaps queries of this type will tend to contain indicator terms
like review , reviews , or opinions , or perhaps the application would provide a checkbox to the user so
that he or she could indicate directly that reviews are what are desired. Besides the still open problem
of determining which documents are topically relevant to an opinion oriented query, an additional
challenge we face in our new setting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Data Collection: In this phase, it is important to get the item of interest, that is, what we actually want
to know the opinion about. It is also very important to remove all facts that don t express any opinions
like news and objective phrases. Here the main focus is on the user s relevant opinions. ii. Pre
processing: The pre processing is also very important phase in order to remove stop words or
irrelevant words from the user s opinions. Our processing system deals only the description part of
each review, here processing means splitting review into sentences to create a plain text file of
reviews. iii. Classification and part of Speech Tagging (POS): The polarity(+ve or ve) of the content
that must be identified. Normally, the polarities are positive, negative or neutral. POS is a mechanism
by which tokens are sequentially labeled with syntactic labels, such as Verb or Noun or Adjective .
Not all the words in review sentences are sensibly useful for recognize product features and
orientations of the discussed product. As Hu and Liu recommend, nouns and noun phrases in the
sentences are most likely to be the features that customers comment on, while adjectives are
frequently used to express their opinions and

Essay on The Implications of Technology in the Movie Her
About nine years ago I discovered a book called The Age of Spiritual Machines by a man named Ray
Kurzweil that demanded my immediate interest. I was captivated by his view of the future of
technology astoundingly positive and bright compared to most peoples negative or dystopian outlook
when it comes to the dangers of a society increasingly reliant on machines and technology. I recently
had the privilege of watching Spike Jonze s 2013 movie her. While focusing on the personal aspect of
a man falling in love with an artificial intelligence in a near future Los Angeles, I couldn t help but be
surprised and delighted when Ray Kurzweil s theories and mindset came shining through the
backdrop. This is a smart, moving love story at first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spike Jonze s recent movie her takes place in a future LA, but not one that you would expect, having
most popular visions of the future being dark and dystopian. The streets are clean and the people are
happy. Everything is basked in a pastel like glow, feeling nostalgically retro. Technology is used to
their advantage for convenience, but has not overtaken their lives and created a society of anti social
recluses. Jonze s vision of the future is decidedly positive and a refreshing take on what humanity can
do if they make the right choices. Enter Theodore, the protagonist who has separated from his wife in
the past year. He is a depressed, hopeful romantic clinging onto the thought that his wife will change
her mind and come back to him, evident in his reluctance to sign his divorce papers. While walking
down the street one day he notices an advertisement for a new operating system named OS1, touted as
being the first artificially intelligent operating system. Throughout the rest of the movie, he grows
alongside Samantha (which is what the OS decided to name herself). She begins to find herself and
develop wants and needs. In addition to helping him in his work and with de cluttering his personal
life, she begins to evolve into her own person with her own idiosyncrasies. Kurzweil talks heavily on
the introduction of artificial

Granny Mingott Influence On Society
Adrienne Grant Professor Len Diepeveen English 1000X, Tutorial 4 3 November 2014 Great
Influence and Respect : The Characteristics and Role of a minor character, Granny Mingott, from
Edith Wharton s The Age of Innocence It is very common as a child growing up in almost every type
of community or society to hear the phrase respect your elders; Granny (Manson) Mingott from Edith
Wharton s The Age of Innocence is a prime example of a well respected elder. She was able to win
and maintain a social position with great respect and worlds of influence over the New York society
all awhile having a few very unorthodox social views, even while her moral standards stayed intact.
Although Granny is considered a minor character in this novel she plays a major role in the lives of

She is, in a sense, staying out of and being innocent from the complications of drama, as it never
directly involves her but is she really innocent ? I believe this to be debatable because although not
directly involved, her opinions and advice that the society values very strongly influences their
choices and decisions in their situations involving the drama. Though not directly involved I think that
just knowing about all the drama in the society and being indirectly involved would be a lot of stress
on a woman of significant age. As much as Granny loves being a respected elder/leader the amount of
knowledge of the complications and drama of the society that she accumulated over the years just
became too much. In some mysterious way [Granny] found out before any one else [the] awful news
(Wharton, 189) about the Beaufort s and their bank scandal. It all became too much when she found
that out about her dear friend Mr. Beaufort and had a slight stroke (Wharton,

The Impact Of Volcanic Eruptions On The Earth s Climate...
When examining the influence and impacts of volcanic eruptions upon the earth s climate system we
have to consider occurrences both in the present and in the past. It has been noted by McGuire et al.
that Volcanic activity and environmental change have been linked during recent times and in the
geological record. (2002:88) With thousands of volcanic events having transpired since the Archean,
there is an abundance of evidence to support the theory that volcanoes have impacted our climate for
over 2.5 Billion years. In particular, I will be looking at examples from the Permian era, where large
basaltic flood eruptions have been associated with mass extinctions and the most voluminous
explosive super eruptions have been held responsible for initiating the episodes of severe global
cooling known as volcanic winters (Rampino 1992, 1993a cited by McGuire et al 2002:88) and I will
also be looking at instances from the more recent Holocene. We are able to study their impacts
through various scientific means (such as examining northern and southern hemisphere ice cores), and
are able to explore the control they have had upon our climate in the preceding years and how they
have influenced it today. It is also necessary to explore equally the spatial and temporal scales of
volcanic eruptions and their controlling factors, to determine their effects upon the earth s climate and
how they can affect it.
One of the largest volcanic eruptions to occur in our history is the Indonesian

Helping Babies Through Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome
Helping Babies Through Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome
Beth Masse
University of Maine Augusta
Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome
Opioid addicted babies need treatment in the hospital setting to help them through the withdrawal
process. Studies are showing what medications to use to help reduce the length of hospital stay. Today,
many neonates stay in the hospital much longer than years past, this is generally due to being born
addicted to opioids. The United States is suffering from an epidemic of opioid abuse. When a pregnant
mother is addicted to opioids these drugs cross the placenta, causing the neonates to be born addicted.
According to Hall et al. (2015), this epidemic can cause opioid misuse, overdose or even death. When
looking at the United States from 2005 2011, more than 14% of pregnant women were dispensed an
opioid at some time in their pregnancy , (Hall, 2015, pg.40). Depending on the length of medication
used and timing during the pregnancy will determine how a neonate will withdraw after birth. This
withdrawal is becoming a common practice and is known as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).
By 2015, this syndrome would affect one neonate in 200 births. Improvements in medications and
techniques help neonates get through withdrawal. I have created a PICO to help form this paper. This
paper will compare the two medications; Morphine and Buprenorphine are most commonly used to
help neonates withdrawing in the

  • 2. Analysis Of We Were Soldiers Rachel Smith We Were Soldiers Film Analysis The film We Were Soldiers depicts the 1965 Battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam. The film follows Lt. Col. Harold Moore and his men as they are send to fight at the first major American battle in Vietnam. The film also shows the impact this battle had on the home front and showed how the war impacted the soldier s wives waiting at home. The dramatization attempts to show how the Americans were introduced to the Vietnam War and how they fought viciously against an elusive, dedicated enemy. Director Randall Wallace uses the film to point out characteristics of the Vietnam War. One thing he tries to focus on is that fact that the United States did not realize the magnitude of the fight they were about to join. When they are first dropped in to the Ia Drang valley they capture the NVA lookout and ask him where his men are. They are shocked to learn that there are 4,000 NVA soldiers waiting for them in the mountains. The lookout also tells them that, It s same army that destroyed French. They want to kill Americans very badly... but they have not been able to find any yet. This quote shows that the NVAArmy has been fighting for much longer and are more invested in the fight than the Americans were, something that was not clear to the original American troops. There are also specific characteristic that the film tried to point out about Americas war in Vietnam. One thing he tried to show is how young the troopers were. The film ... As he and Rabastan looked upon the row of girls with hollow cheeks and sickly skin, Antonin could not identify who he hated more: Rabastan who convinced him to come, or himself, who agreed. The girls wore the dirty, striped rags of Azkaban prison. Some had bruised faces. Others still had the tears of dried blood stuck in place that told of past punishments. The price of the used car is $20,000. Sales tax on this car is 8.4% of the price of the vehicle. You intend to finance the entire cost of the car and sales tax, less a down payment of $1,500. You intend to finance the car for 48 months and your car payment will be $455.12 per month. The amount financed will be the cash price subtracting the down payment. In this case, the cash price will be $20,000 and the down payment is $1,500. After subtracting these two amounts, I obtained that the amount financed will be $18,500. The installment price of the car will be $23,345.76. This amount is obtained by multiplying the amounts of financing by the monthly rate (48 x $455.12) which will equal $21,845.76 in addition you must add the down payment of $1,500 to get the total value of the car. • 19. The ANZAC Legend Essay The ANZAC Legend ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as ANZACS, and the pride they soon took in that name endures to this day. The ANZAC legend began with the landing at Gallipoli on April 25 1915, signaling the start of the disastrous Dardanelles campaign on the Turk Peninsula. This campaign saw thousands of ANZAC fatalities before its conclusion in January 1916. Significantly, the ANZAC legend is the result of a devastating loss, rather than a great victory. The soldiers are remembered for maintaining courage and determination under hopeless conditions. The ANZAC legend owes much to wartime correspondents who used the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In wartime propaganda, the ANZAC forces were portrayed as the loyal sons of the British Empire, fighting as much for the mother country as for their own. Beyond the military campaign, the ANZAC soldiers represented the ethos of their rural Australian background. The values of equality, good humor and mateship were transplanted to the situation in Turkey. It is easy to understand why the ANZAC legend became so popular. The Gallipoli campaign was described as the baptism of the newly federated Australia, and a chance for Australian soldiers to prove themselves to the world. They were not ultimately victorious, but the soldiers came to represent the character traits of the new country: fit and healthy, duty bound and courageous, good humored and egalitarian. The ANZAC image allowed Australians to both demonstrate loyalty to Britain, and claim an identity of their own. There is much to challenge the factual accuracy of the ANZAC image. The idea that Australians were loyal Britons was questionable even in 1915. At the time, over 80% of Australians were Australian born, not English. Archbishop Mannix expressed the discrepancies in the ANZAC image in a wartime statement that England is not my motherland ... indeed it is my stepsister . In many instances the athletic programs that make up the university can be considered the most diverse group on campus. The will to win largely attracts participants from every conceivable ethnic and demographic background. The diversity and racial composition of athletic programs can provide opportunities for athletes to learn about people who are different than themselves, help improve interracial understanding, and help reduce prejudice among groups. Although diversity among student athletes is a favorable goal, it is important that the coaches, athletic counselors, or anyone working with student athletes have practices and procedures in place to immerse athletes within the culture of collegiate athletics. The ability to succeed will be determined by the athlete and the programs ability to function within a multilevel system that includes knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations, university policies, athletic department standards, and team dynamics (Fletcher, 2003). While there are many opportunities for student athletes to gain a cross racial understanding from participating in team sports such as basketball, football, and track and field there can be differences in racial diversity among sports. With fossil fuels nearing extinction, the United States has very limited options for providing the country s millions of energy consumers with an energy source that is affordable and cost effective ; therefore, the solution is hydraulic fracking, also known as fracking, Natural Gas has the capabilities of fueling American cars and homes for the next hundred years, and the best part is the United States is the largest supplier of natural gas. Let s broke it down to 3 major parts: first, how fracking natural gas affects our environment, second how it is going to boost up the economy, and third how it makes the United States becomes energy independent. First of all, in 2009, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a thorough report on natural gas in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, and Montana. After the tedious examination, the EPA concluded that water contamination could not accurately be tied with fracking. Subspace identification, a sequence of state vectors can be obtained directly from the input and output data. From a numerical point of view, the SMI algorithms are not appropriate for online implementation because of the SVD computational complexity. For industrial applications, it is essential to have online recursive algorithms for model identification, where parameters can vary in time. Indeed, in many online identification scenarios, it is important to update the model as time goes on with a reduced computational cost. The main problem with recursive subspace identification is the SVD computation that is burdensome to update. Thus, it is necessary to find the alternative algorithms in order to apply the subspace concept in a recursive framework. In this paper, recursive subspace identification algorithm based on the propagator method which avoid the SVD computation is proposed. Keyword: Subspace identification Observability ... In the 19th century, the Cult of Domesticity, also known as the Cult of True Womanhood, was introduced as an attempt to answer this question. The Cult of True Womanhood introduced a set of beliefs about gender roles that became so widely popular they could be found in magazines, newspapers, and throughout all of the famous cultures. Our modern 21st century still recognizes and practices the three factors of purity, submissiveness, and domesticity, which were greatly upheld by the cult. Young ladies were told that they must guard their treasure (virginity) with their life. Spinal shock can occur, resulting in complete loss of function. This is a temporary occurrence and usually lasts up to 3 months after injury. It involves paralysis, loss of reflex, loss of bladder/bowel control and sexual dysfunction. It can also cause systemic changes, such as loss of temperature control, decrease in blood pressure, and poor venous circulation. When function returns, it is usually demonstrated by return of movement, reflexes, and bowel/bladder control (Heuther, 2008). As function returns, an uncompensated cardiovascular response can occur called autonomic hyperreflexia. This is a life threatening emergency and must be treated immediately. But exactly how it operates remains one of the biggest unsolved mysteries, and it seems the more we probe its secrets, the more surprises we find (BrainyQuote). The brain is like a galaxy. There is general knowledge of the universe; however, new secrets of planets, moons, and stars are discovered on a daily basis. Similarly, scientists know the basic structure and functions of the brain, but new aspects of the brain are revealed everyday. The brain is part of the central nervous system (CNS). Its role is to receive signals, decode the signals, and send response signals down the spinal cord to the rest of the body. Signals are received from different parts of the brain depending on which sensory organs receive stimuli (Carter, Gray 697). Once sensory organs receive stimuli, stimuli are transmitted to sensory memories, which are physiological parts of the nervous system [that directly sensors to the brain] (Kinster, Grobstein). Sensory memories then pass selected stimuli to hippocampus in the forebrain, and the hippocampus sends the integrated memory to neurons in the form of electrical impulses (Mohs). • 40. Magnet School Research Thousands of students are gifted who are looking for a better education to suit their learning needs. Magnet schools are the solution to this problem. Magnet schools are academically selective public schools which can teach students on a particular focus such as math and science, but can improve by providing students an enhanced learning experience by changing the modern day classroom. Just by changing how the modern day classroom runs, students can learn more efficiently and be more likely to behave and be more successful in life. The magnet in magnet school refers to bringing students across the normal boundaries given by officials ( A Brief History of Magnet Schools ). Most magnet schools in America are academically selective ( Magnet School Wikipedia). They usually have a narrow focus such as math and science opposed to regular public schools that have a more generalized focus. Other than providing gifted students a more academically in depth education, magnet schools are also built to avoid racial discrimination in some areas of the nation. Applications are usually required to get into magnet schools and programs. They sometimes require an entrance examination, interview, or audition. A few magnet schools use the lottery system where the applicants are chosen at random. The major keys magnet schools look at when applying is race, for a diverse population, and academic achievements ( Magnet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As humans, we have created technology to help us with our everyday lives. We are constantly in the pursuit of advancing technology to do more and more for us. In recent years scientists have been infatuated with the idea of bringing humans and technology closer than they ever have been before. No more fumbling with change or losing cash through a hole in your pocket! Not everyone enjoys having a bulky bracelet on their wrist, but a tiny chip implanted under the skin on the hand would go unnoticed. A company in Wisconsin, by the name of Three Square Market has already caught on to the trend. Employees were given the option to receive the painless data chip directly into the skin on the hand. Once implanted, the employee can buy food and snacks from the company cafeteria with the simple wave of a hand where the chip is inserted (McCance). Having this method put in place on a much grander scale, to all civilians, would alter how we think about money exchange. (Akin) Galileo was a prime example of a conflict between the Catholic Church and science. He was a devout roman catholic, however a great scientist. Galileo had many contributions to the world such as the telescope and his many discoveries in outer space. However one of the more widely recognized was his support to Copernicus theory of heliocentricity. Before this the church had stated that the sun revolved around the earth, known as the theory of geocenctricity. Galileo s teachings were consequently banned by the church, and Galileo himself imprisoned. However, in 1992 the Vatican under Pope John Paul II held a ceremony to proclaim that Galileo was right in his findings and support of Copernicus. (Tracts) This shows that the present day church does not see science as a threat or interference to its teachings. The present day church actually supports science, as well as the theory of evolution by natural selection. However, although evolution is widely accepted by many Popes, as well as the Catholic Church, many things are still maintained. It is still maintained that Adam was the first human and all life originated from him. The church still says that all humans have souls. The church insists that a soul is unobservable; therefore it is untestable by science since it has no effect on the natural world, and science cannot confirm or deny its existence. If the application is integrated into a general purpose search engine, then one would need to determine whether the user is in fact looking for subjective material. I was captivated by his view of the future of technology astoundingly positive and bright compared to most peoples negative or dystopian outlook when it comes to the dangers of a society increasingly reliant on machines and technology. I recently had the privilege of watching Spike Jonze s 2013 movie her. Spike Jonze s recent movie her takes place in a future LA, but not one that you would expect, having most popular visions of the future being dark and dystopian. The streets are clean and the people are happy. Everything is basked in a pastel like glow, feeling nostalgically retro. Technology is used to their advantage for convenience, but has not overtaken their lives and created a society of anti social recluses. Jonze s vision of the future is decidedly positive and a refreshing take on what humanity can do if they make the right choices. Enter Theodore, the protagonist who has separated from his wife in the past year. He is a depressed, hopeful romantic clinging onto the thought that his wife will change her mind and come back to him, evident in his reluctance to sign his divorce papers. While walking down the street one day he notices an advertisement for a new operating system named OS1, touted as being the first artificially intelligent operating system. Throughout the rest of the movie, he grows alongside Samantha (which is what the OS decided to name herself). She begins to find herself and develop wants and needs. • 48. The Impact Of Volcanic Eruptions On The Earth s Climate... When examining the influence and impacts of volcanic eruptions upon the earth s climate system we have to consider occurrences both in the present and in the past. It has been noted by McGuire et al. that Volcanic activity and environmental change have been linked during recent times and in the geological record. (2002:88) With thousands of volcanic events having transpired since the Archean, there is an abundance of evidence to support the theory that volcanoes have impacted our climate for over 2.5 Billion years. In particular, I will be looking at examples from the Permian era, where large basaltic flood eruptions have been associated with mass extinctions and the most voluminous explosive super eruptions have been held responsible for initiating the episodes of severe global cooling known as volcanic winters (Rampino 1992, 1993a cited by McGuire et al 2002:88) and I will also be looking at instances from the more recent Holocene. We are able to study their impacts through various scientific means (such as examining northern and southern hemisphere ice cores), and are able to explore the control they have had upon our climate in the preceding years and how they have influenced it today. It is also necessary to explore equally the spatial and temporal scales of volcanic eruptions and their controlling factors, to determine their effects upon the earth s climate and how they can affect it. One of the largest volcanic eruptions to occur in our history is the Indonesian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Helping Babies Through Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome Helping Babies Through Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome Beth Masse University of Maine Augusta Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome Opioid addicted babies need treatment in the hospital setting to help them through the withdrawal process. Studies are showing what medications to use to help reduce the length of hospital stay. Today, many neonates stay in the hospital much longer than years past, this is generally due to being born addicted to opioids. The United States is suffering from an epidemic of opioid abuse. When a pregnant mother is addicted to opioids these drugs cross the placenta, causing the neonates to be born addicted. According to Hall et al. (2015), this epidemic can cause opioid misuse, overdose or even death. When looking at the United States from 2005 2011, more than 14% of pregnant women were dispensed an opioid at some time in their pregnancy , (Hall, 2015, pg.40). Depending on the length of medication used and timing during the pregnancy will determine how a neonate will withdraw after birth. This withdrawal is becoming a common practice and is known as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). By 2015, this syndrome would affect one neonate in 200 births. Improvements in medications and techniques help neonates get through withdrawal. I have created a PICO to help form this paper.
