The Abolitionist Movement In Christopher Paul Curtis s...
The fascinating novel, Elijah of Buxton, by Christopher Paul Curtis, is about an 11 year old boy who
was the first African American born free in the 1800s. Elijah went through some harsh times with his
family and his neighborhood folks. His friend was struggling with trying to get money back from the
Preacher, a thief who stole from him. With the hopes of buying his family out of slavery, Elijah s
friend asks him to help go to Michigan to find the Preacher and get the money back. On this journey,
Elijah sees what his parents had to go through. He witnesses slaves getting treated poorly and other
cruel acts. The book Elijah of Buxton is connected to three historical events; one of them is slavery.
Another topic that is discussed is the abolitionist movement when people helped slaves escape. Last
but not least, is the unequal balance of free states and slave states. ... Show more content on

But that s not even close to the way blacks got treated even before times of segregation. Back in
history, white people owned black people (slaves) and made them work for them without pay. African
Americans got forced to be slaves under the age of sixteen. Even though Elijah is an eleven year old
black boy, he is lucky enough to be born free. A lot of the people in his neighborhood used to be slaves
who escaped to Buxton. As you can see slavery was a big part in the book Elijah of

all profits earned by the business. The single owner is also responsible/liable for all debts and
obligations of the business on a personal level. | Two Advantages | A sole proprietorship is easy to
create; there is minimal creation cost and time.The single owner has autonomy in decision making;
sole owner makes all decisions related to the business and has complete ownership of business s

The partners and the business are legally the same. The partners enter into an agreement called the
articles of partnership and are typically equally active in the business and the business s management,
unless otherwise stated in the partnership agreement. All profits and losses are shared by the partners

expertise in decision making and a sharing of the workload. General partnerships are easy and
inexpensive to start up. | Two Disadvantages | The partners are jointly and severally liable for business
debts and obligations. The partners are held personally responsible for the business and may be sued
personally for liability. Partners personal assets are subject to lawsuit(s) made against the business.

Summary
Apparently graphics card are the new big thing in this generation. Graphics are being used in
everything such as laptop, computer, and also now in cars. Car companies like Toyota and NVIDIA
are collaborating to deliver artificial intelligence hardware and software technologies that will enhance
the capabilities of autonomous driving system. Aslo, Audi and NVIDIA announced an acceleration of
a long running partnership this new shared goal will put advanced AI cars on the roads starting in
2020. Not only that, even Tesla, Mercedes Benz, Volvo are partnering with NVIDIA to develop AI

One of the biggest problem of NV1 is that its rendering was quite different than a typical polygon
rendering. Then in 1996, for the first time NVIDIA unveils its first Microsoft, DirectX drivers with
support for the Direct3D, which is an API used to render 3D graphs where performance is very
critical. During that year NVIDIA didn t release any new products till 1997. After 2 years they finally
introduced RIVA 128, the first 128 bit 3D processor. It received an OEM acceptance, and only in four
months shipped more than one million units. It is one of the first consumer graphics processing unit to
integrate 3D acceleration to traditional 2D and video acceleration. The acronym for RIVA is Real time
Interactive Video and Animation accelerator. The NV1 chips was designed for a fundamentally
different type of rendering technology, but the RIVA 128 was designed to accelerate Direct3D. During
this time period everything changed. For the first time Microsoft selected NVIDIA to provide a much
better graphics processors in Xbox gaming console. Not only that the world s first notebook GPU
GeForce 2 Go was launched. Not only that the company has shipped its 100 millionth processor.
Using their technology, they helped NASA reconstruct their terrain of Mars. Sony and NVIDIA
partnered up to develop a processor for the Playstation 3. The year 2006, around half a billion graphics

Essay on Mesoamerican Astronomy
Introduction For centuries, people from all latitudes have been fascinated by the night sky. The
unreachable stars, the Moon, the comets and all the events happening in the sky, fired up imaginations
and became symbols of life and death, of war, peace and the passing of time and the seasons. The
movement of the stars was used to establish the time for planting and harvesting, to prepare for the
long winters and to try to discover the future and destiny, the eternal unknown destiny of the human
race. Three large human groups, the Mayans, the Aztecs and the Zapotecs populated the Central and
Southeastern regions of Mexico long before the discovery of the continent by Columbus. These
ancient cultures developed a very complex knowledge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They produced a very accurate 360 day long calendar they used to measure long periods of time.
Developing an extended astronomical knowledge was not very easy because their astronomers did all
their observations with the naked eye. However, they were able to do all kinds of incredibly precise
astronomical measurements and calculate the seasons, the solstices and eclipses. They did all this by
following the patterns of the movements of planets and stars, observing the shadows cast by the Sun,
and using some rudimentary instruments. The practice of astronomy was relegated to the ilhuica
tlamatilizmatini, or wise man who studies heaven . These priest astronomers had a great amount of
power, given the fact that they could essentially predict the future. (Welser Sherrill) II Planets, Stars,
the Moon and the Sun. Venus. The Mayans gave great importance to the planet Venus; they recorded
its transit across the sky and used this information to create the Dresden Codex which contains the
data for the full circle of this planet. The Mayans counted five repetitions of the cycle of Venus, each
one with a length of 584 days, which correspond to approximately 8 years. In the Mayan mythology,
Venus is the companion of the sun. The observed that Venus is always close to the sun in the sky,

I Am Codell Craddock For The Respondent Essay
I am Codell Craddock for the Respondent. My colleague, Fiona O Brien has effectively demonstrated
why the Hybrid Rights is merely dicta on the part of Justice Scalia and I will immediately follow by
defining rational basis review. Rational Basis is the standard of review used by courts when reviewing
matters pertaining to the fifth and fourteenth amendment. If a law proves to be rationally related to a
legitimate government interest, then it passes rational basis review. In addition, it is not the duty of the
court to review the intent of the law, but merely to decide if their is a relationship between the law and
a government interest. This rationale was upheld in Swanson Swanson v. Gurthrie Independent school
district when the supreme court ruled that the school district s rule to require all students to attend
public school full time is a general law that tailors to a governmental interest. In our case, the candy
ban was instituted to combat childhood obesity which is a governmental interest. Because as we saw
in Barsky vs Board of Regents, the public health of a community is a vital part of a state s police
power. It is clear from this, that although the Candy Ban incidentally affects the practice of a religion,
there is a clear relationship between the candy ban and public health, a legitimate government interest.
Therefore, it passes the rational basis test. Moving on let s discuss, for a moment, that the hybrid
rights claim is viable. A claim that may be used when a

Left Ventricular Assist Device Essay
Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVADs) has evolved into long term use as bridge to transplant and as
destination therapy for those with severe end stage heart failure. However, treatment and readmission
rates of Heart Failure (HF) and LVAD patients is a serious matter to hospitals because the reduce
reimbursement rates that hospitals receiving if these patients are re admitted within 30 days of their
discharge date. Studies have shown that Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) use of evidence base
practice for the care of these patients can reduce the readmission rates of this specific population. The
purpose of this evidence based practice project is to investigate if an APN directed interdisciplinary
team to intervene follow up care in LVAD ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, 1st year survival in LVAD patient is higher than 85%. Unfortunately, 69.8% of the LVAD
patients get readmitted to hospital in first 6 months after the device implantation (Topkara et al.,
2010). LVAD patients live with this device as the last option unless they get new hearts (Rowland et
al., 2012). If the device malfunctions or stop their lives can end immediately (Rowland et al., 2012).
Therefore, the focus has to be on their follow up cares after they get discharged from the hospital
(Banbury et al., 2003). Literature reviews as well as hands on experience support that APN directed
care post discharge were able to reduce hospital readmissions and increase the quality of life of HF
patients (Takeda et al., 2012). The APN, evidence based team, supports the LVAD patients by phone
calls, home visits, frequent education and 24 hour emergency hotline (Polisena et al., 2010). This type
of care has been seen at many facilities, including Hackensack University Medical center where I have
encountered both pre and post operative LVAD patients which have a extraordinary APN driven
evidence base practice approach to these patients.
Significance of the Problem
Approximately 670,000 new cases of HF per year, HF is the leading cause of hospital readmission
(Rowland et al., 2012). Also, 69.8% of the LVAD patients get readmitted to

The Jazz Age was one of the many highlights of the 1920’s...
The Jazz Age was one of the many highlights of the 1920 s before the stock market crash that
triggered the start of the Great Depression in 1929. Because of the distress that the American soldiers
faced during World War 1, many of them returned questioning the true meaning of life. Their solution
was to recklessly enjoy their lives since you only live once. A completely new culture bloomed during
the decade through it s new music, crazy dancing and brand new atmosphere. While the country
seemed to be rather optimistic as a whole during the 1920 s, this decade actually had quite a few
issues. Although the United States demonstrated confidence throughout the decade, there were many
situations in which the country experienced disillusionment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As women achieved greater equality, many of them shifted from the countryside to towns and cities.
In 1920 women were given the right to vote and could participate in government. More jobs were
open to women giving them money and independence (C). They had more personal freedom in their
choice of clothes, make up and style which led to what we now know of as the flappers. It became
socially acceptable for women to smoke, drink and go to parties unaccompanied. As independent
citizens, women were also given the choice of birth control. This was a drastic change in the lives of
Americans since the decision to not give birth to a baby had never been a decision that a women
should make alone (E). Like women, young people found confidence in forming their futures. They
envisioned life to fall into place on its own and thought that there was no need to stress out (I). Even
though people were starting to feel confident, there was a sense of disillusionment through the
political and cultural aspects of society. Many citizens became nervous towards communists, fascists,
and socialists in fear that they would change society the way that it had been. Because they were so
scared, many Americans decided to take harsh measures and single out all of the people that belonged
to any of these beliefs. A certain man, A. Mitchell Palmer, decided to go to the extreme and arrest

main concern for humanitarians across the globe is the blurred line that has occurred as a result of the

Analysis Of Harry Potter And The Philosopher s Stone By...
Feminism is misunderstood by many people; being a female and being brave or knowledgable does
not automatically make one a feminist. Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone
by J.K. Rowling is a prime example of this statement. Although Hermione is very smart and brave,
Rowling still portrays her as a typical girl throughout the book. It is shown that Hermione is overly
emotional at times, and although she is able, it seems that she cannot do things on her own without the
help of Harry and Ron. Hermione is every teacher s dream student. She listens in class, raises her hand
whenever she has an answer, and does her homework every day. She does not use her bravery and
knowledge for her own use, but to help Harry conquer his destiny. However, Hermione seems
perfectly content with her subordinate partnership with Ron and Harry (Heilman 145) Hermione is
known to be a know it all even though she really does seem to know it all. Regardless of her behaviour
and attitude, she is still a heroic and brave person, hence why she was sorted into Gryffindor but she is
not a feminist figure just because of this. Most people have trouble applying things they learn in class
to real life situations because either they were not listening or because they do not believe it will be
useful. Hermione listens in class and reads up on all of the things she should know. Because of her
knowledge in the magic they learn in class, she is the one to know what to do when Harry, Ron,

The Iron Mill By Rebecca Harding Davis
In Life in the Iron Mills, Rebecca Harding Davis tells the story of Hugh Wolfe, a lower class man
whose love of beauty and desire to move up in the world ultimately leads to his mental decline and
demise. Wolfe lives in a town of smothering grey smog and works in an iron mill reminiscent of Hell,
places that induce hopelessness and despair by appearance. In contrast to his surroundings, Wolfe
possesses a fierce love of beauty and a talent of sculpting with korl, both of which are frequently
associated with higher socioeconomic classes. Initially, it appears that Davis means to reinforce the
common associations of beauty with the upper class and unseemliness with the lower class. In the
story, beauty can be associated with the upper class characters through their polished appearances and
admiration of art, inciting a positive association in response to beautiful imagery; unseemliness, on the
other hand, can be associated with the lower class and negative feelings because the mill is
reminiscent of hell and the characters are generally unattractive. However, when looked at with a
closer lens, it appears the story cannot be taken at face value and the typical feelings surrounding
beauty and ugliness do not apply in the story. Appearances can be deceiving: within Life in the Iron
Mills, ugliness represents opportunity whereas the beauty serves as a distraction. By juxtaposing
unsightly and attractive, Davis shows that mobility is possible only through unattractive, hard work

Description Of The History Of Family Centered Services
Description of the history of family centered services Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the family
centered services generated preventable client assignment with no definite procedures for stability
(Mass Engler, 1959; Gruber, 1973 ;as cited by Pecora, Reed Ashcraft, Kirk). Furthermore, Gruber
(1973) established that the problem was rooted in insufficient data to make suitable decisions to
address clients concerns. Likewise, Franshel Shinn (1978; as cited by Pecora, Reed Ashcraft, Kirk)
added that this resulted in one of many issues such as, family centered services encouraging separation
between blood relatives by restricting contact.
The goals of child welfare services. In order to address these past mishaps, the following three goals
were established by child welfare services. The first goal of child welfare services is the security of its
clients (Pecora Harrison Jackson, 2016). When I was in college as an undergrad, I had a terrible
roommate. She made my living environment very uncomfortable, where I felt at times as if I was
walking on pins and needles. It was always tense in our room. As adults desire a safe, comfortable
environment, how much more vulnerable children? The second goal is to make every effort to

Project A Satire
The action hero who does all his own stunts , that is what American audiences started calling famous
Chinese director, actor, and martial arts expert Jackie Chan. His movies are known to be action
packed, full of hand to hand combat, as well as having some comedic moments. The films analyzed in
this paper will be Project A (1982), Project A 2(1987), as well as Police Story (1985). All of these take
place in Hong Kong and are filled with satirical comedy as well as many martial arts scenes. During
the 1980 s, Hong Kong was known for its wealth, and it was recognized for its politics, expensive real
estate prices, as well as their entertainment. During that time, the manufacturing industry fell, as other
economic aspects like foreign trade and personal and general community services increased. Since

However, when it comes to satirical comedy, I noticed a clear distinction between the three movies.
The first two parts of Project A, give the impression of trying to portray a more serious role. On the
other hand, Police Story, has plenty of satirical moments as well as some sarcastic ones. My
conclusion to this is because Jackie Chan is trying to make fun of the Hong Kong society at the time.
During the 1980 s, crime in Hong Kong was abundant, and because of it, the director of the film tried
to ridicule the drug cartel portrayed in the movie. They are played as clumsy, and easily defeated by
Jackie Chan s incredible martial arts skills. During the whole movie, the astute policeman, played by
Jackie Chan, constantly outsmarts the Hong Kong drug cartel. In other words, the Hong Kong cartel is
portrayed as stupid and incompetent. During the Project A films however, even though we do see this
overpower of the protagonist on his enemies, it is not as apparent. Sanpao, as well as his followers,
play a powerful and intimidating role in this

Reconstruction and Industrialization

be resolved in order to reunite the states as a nation. The time period in which steps were taken to
rebuild the nation is known as reconstruction. Reconstruction lasted from 1865 until 1877. The
influence of reconstruction can be seen in the society and also in politics during that time period.

Railroads were built throughout the country and allowed for good to be transported more easily,
cheaper, and more reliable (Schultz 2012, p. 293). With industrialization came more jobs, and because
majority of industrialization occurred in big cities this encouraged farmers to leave the fields and
moved to cities to work in factories (Schultz 2012, p. 293). With the constant growth of businesses
and manufacturers in the north, the population of northern cities grew. In a forty year time span the
population on New York City grew by 1.2 million people (Schultz 2012, p. 302). This growth was
called urbanization. Since the cities were growing at such a rapid pace building developers cut codes
and built make shift buildings called tenements for people to reside (Schultz 2012, p.302). Tenements
were low income apartment buildings. These apartments were small and cramped and sometimes
referred to as railroad flats because their layout was similar to that of the box railroad cars (Apartment
House, Encyclopedia Britannica). With the high demand of materials and jobs factories were being
built in the same manner as the tenements. These buildings did not follow building codes and resulted
in many fires (Schultz 2012, p. 303). Perhaps one of the most devastating fires was that of the Triangle

Analysis Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi
In a world with billions of people there are bound to be countless opinions of how society should be
run. Some believe that every person should be treated with respect and equality, while others see a
distinct division between those who deserve humane treatment and those who do not. In his
autobiography, Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi reveals just how greatly this difference has
influenced the lives of millions by recalling his experience in the infamous concentration camp,
Auschwitz. Primo Levi is caught between colliding cultures; while part of his book is dedicated to
criticizing the SS officers for their cruelty, a greater focus is placed on the tactics that he adopted in
order to survive in the camp, both mentally and physically. Levi s transition from a life of comfort ...

While this may seem counterintuitive and that Levi could have benefitted from holding on to hope, he
explains that, in the face of driving necessity and physical disabilities many social habits and instincts
are reduced to silence (Levi 187). To put faith in the unlikely chance of being rescued and reunited
with family would prove to be wasteful because that energy could have been better used to accumulate
necessary survival tactics. However, his most distinct survival tactic was his reliance upon others. He
particularly found life within Lorenzo, a man who, was outside this world of negation , and whose
humanity was pure and uncontaminated (Levi 122). Most other prisoners looked out solely for
themselves and neglected social interaction, which therefore caused loneliness to build on top of the
rest of their suffering. By allowing himself to confide in Lorenzo, [He] managed not to forget that [he
himself] was a man (Levi 122). Were it not for Lorenzo, Levi would not have stayed afloat in the sea

A clear marketing plan will acts as a proposal for the company to achieve goals. Other than that, a
clear marketing plan will also achieve competitive advantage in term of cost leadership, and the
differentiation of new or existing products and services (Keetch, n.d.). With a marketing plan, the
company will know the pricing of the competitors, thus the company will try to reduce the cost of the
product and lower the price in order to compete with competitors. Through differentiation strategy,
company will distinguish their own products by increasing the quality of the products or making
improvement towards the product to gain competitive advantage.
The drawback of marketing plan is marketing plan will lead to wrong decision making (Bellis, n.d.).
Wrong analysis of the data and wrong interpretation in marketing plan will lead company to a wrong
decision making. A wrong decision making will cause company a huge loss in term of monetary and
also market share.

Lab Grown Brain Research Paper
SCIENCE AS WE KNOW IT
Science across all fields seems to make news almost every day of our lives for one reason or another,
some good, some bad. But in recent science news, researchers from Ohio State University have done
what seems to be impossible; they ve grown a brain.
One has to wonder at not only the oddity of this but just how this was possible. Some might even
question whether or not, a live specimen was part of it but it s not.
Rather than all of that, this brain was developed in a lab. On the 18th of August, Ohio State University
released a press release (https://news.osu.edu/news/2015/08/18/human brain model/) regarding their
lab grown brain.

Human Nature In Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi
In Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi uses characterization to describe human nature, showing the
reader how human nature and the nature of Auschwitz contradict and manifest. Beginning with how
human nature manifests to Levi and transitions as it moves through the story. Firstly, in Survival in
Auschwitz Primo Levi begins to learn how our human nature manifests in the most desperate and
nerve wracking of times. Sooner or later in life everyone discovers that perfect happiness is
unrealizable, but there are a few who pause to consider the antithesis: that perfect unhappiness is
equally unattainable. In this short excerpt Levi uses thoughtful time to reflect upon this subject,
though common considering he is quite quizzical. He uses balanced syntax to form an antithesis, as he
even state in the quote. Furthermore, he is quite truthful in his analysis of happiness, in human nature,
we can never achieve the complete happiness or even complete unhappiness. Simply, we can only
reach a certain extent of content and a limit of depression. In a way, this quote characterizes our
essence of human nature and our unattainability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here we received the first blows: and it was so new and senseless that we felt no pain, neither in body
nor in spirit. Only profound amazement: how can one hit a man without anger? (1.16. Survival In
Auschwitz) Analysis: Levi uses description to give his account of emotions and the event. Also, he
used thoughtful yet dumbfoundead tone, he was halted in amazement as to how one could harm
another yet he had done no wrong. He could not understand nor analyze the nature of such beings who
could do such harsh things. It was an antithesis of human nature, it was a conundrum to him. How
could this be allowed to

Bioethical And Political Issues Essay
Identifying Bioethical and Political Issues
Scenario 1: You are the healthcare administrator of a nursing home. You are informed by your
Admissions Director that a new memory impaired resident has been admitted into your long term care
unit. The staff is concerned about the involvement of family with your resident. Family members from
out of town arrived and expressed concern about your resident s do not resuscitate (DNR) orders
which were authorized by the Power of Attorney of another family member. A quarrel erupts in the
nursing home with family members voicing their opinions loudly. You arrive on the scene and are
immediately told by the visiting family member, Do you know who I am? I am a supervisor for the
Department of Health and Human Services and will not hesitate to have your facility surveyed for
noncompliance. What do you do?
Any situation that erupts which can disturb the other residents is something that must be diffused
immediately, as a healthcare administrator I would have to address this state of affairs with empathy
and genuine concern for the opinions of the family members not in agreement with the do not
resuscitate (DNR) order. First, I would ask that we move to a private location where we could speak
and if voices are elevated it would not interfere with the day to day operation of the nursing home.
Second, I would ask to see the Power of Attorney if it is available to speak to the legality of the
document. Provided that, all the previous terms set in place are up to par, I would directly talk about
the statement made about the family member making me aware of her position with the Department of
Health and Human Services. Moreover, going through the document to point out the date signed, to
make note if the new resident signed it before here memory was too far gone and if the Power of
Attorney would not be substantial. Then I d call attention to the difference between a Power of
Attorney and Durable Power of Attorney. Grammarly states, The biggest difference is in when the
power ends. A general power of attorney ends when a person becomes mentally incapable because of
sickness or injury to handle his or her own affairs... To get a durable power of attorney, you must show

Factors Affecting Tax Compliance of Small and Medium Scale...
Background of the Study
Tax compliance has been a topic of great interest to Revenue authorities especially in the developed
countries. Hostility towards tax compliance is an age old problem. Taxes are considered a problem by
everyone. Not surprising, taxation problems date back to the earliest recorded history (Taxworld
Organization, 1999).
Developing countries, perhaps due to their frequent budget deficits have not been able to conduct
comprehensive research on the behavior of taxpayer in relation to compliance. Hostility between the
taxpayers and tax collectors on issue relating to tax compliance is evidenced by frequent tax evasion
reports in our local newspapers (Juma, 2010) and outward resistance from taxpayers for example the

An experiment with presumption tax (abolished in 1993 and re introduced in 1995) was a particularly
notable attempt to formalize parts of the informal agricultural sector (Cheeseman and Griffins, 2005).
Further attempts focused on the use of advance tax and tax on rental incomes. However, given the
invisibility of the informal sector and scarce empirical work to understand tax relevant information,
the presumption tax approach and the advance tax approaches failed to achieve the intended
objectives. It is not difficult to understand why they could not work. If the Government does not know
about the income received by farmers, farm workers and small scale entrepreneurs, it can have no
prospects of taxing it. This creates the need for a proper income survey to determine the optimal tax
yield, the ability and willingness to pay.
The advent of the East African Community customs union further complicates the tax compliance risk
management problem. In 2005, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania signed a treaty forming the East Africa
Community (EAC) customs union which has now been expanded to include Rwanda and Burundi.
The purpose of the customs union is to promote trade and other elements of regional development.
The dominant feature of the customs union is that member states agreed to reduce tariffs. The Heads
of State reached an agreement to

The problem is that you need to know how to love someone before you get married to them. Let s say

Pop Art Unit Analysis
Out of the two units that we completed, the first unit (The Pop Art Unit) was noticably a lot more split
up than the second Unit. There wasn t necessarily any more work to do, it was just split up into
different tasks. Our very primary task was set to us over Summer 2015 as an introduction to GCSE Art
and Design. We were asked to do some research on Pop Art and to present what we had learnt in our
books, this could include different Pop Art artists, the introduction to Pop Art and attempts at
recreating some of the art works. In my opinion this was a very enlightening and useful process seeing
as it allowed us to have a head start and to ease us into the subject of Pop Art. Once the Summer of

they have left behind. The icon of my choice was probably quite cliche seeing as I chose the one and

short lived as his carrear was, it was truly an iconic one. With this task I decided to make a 3D piece in
order to play around with different mediums and make it a part of my full piece which was mostl 2D.
Overall, out of the tasks that I completed for this Unit this was not one of my favourite works seeing

Sexual Orientation And Same Sex Relationships
Sexual Orientation is related to the attraction a person feels towards a certain sex. If the person is
attracted to people of a different sex, they are heterosexual but if they are attracted to people of the
same sex then the person is homosexual. A person is bisexual when they are attracted to both sexes.
(Savic et al, ____) In humans it is easy to ask people who they are attracted to and often people fall on
a spectrum. This spectrum is called the Kinsey scale. In animals however, the sexual orientation can
only be determined by observing which sex the animal approaches. Sexual orientation and same sex
relationships in humans is something that has gotten a lot of public attention in the past few decades.
During the intrauterine period, the fetal brain can develop in a masculine way in the presence of
testosterone and in a feminine way in the absence of it. This can lead to the determination of both
gender identity and sexual orientation early in development. In my paper I will talk about
homosexuality and the organizational effects that sex steroid hormones like testosterone and estrogen
can have on sexual orientation by looking at disorders like CAH and CAIS and by comparing human
non heterosexuality to animal non heterosexuality
Organizational influences are due to the hormonal milieu that is present early in development,
prenatally and neonatally. It is basically the exposure to hormones that act early in development to
organize the neural circuitry underlying

Alice Munro Character Analysis
Expectations placed on us Good or Bad? Our identity makes us who we are. How do we find it, and,
can others affect what we believe?
The thing that most people desire is their own identity. How we act, what we believe in, what we are.
But, some people change that and put expectations on it. These are all parts of who we are, maybe you
laugh like your mother or talk like your father. People affect who we are and set expectations for us. In
this story, author Alice Munro, through her character, shows how others place expectations on her as a
girl and how they affect her individual identity.
One major thing that affects our personal identity is the people around us, and the people that have the
most effect on us is our family. The main character s mother and grandmother pushes her to act like a
girl Her mother pushes the ideals of girls upon her. She was plotting now to get me to stay in the
house more, although she knew I hated it (because she knew I hated it) and keep me from working for
my father. Her mother wants her to stay in the house to do work. At this point the main character
doesn t really realize that perhaps her mother is lonely and isn t just pushing her to act like a girl . And
then I can use her more in the house, I heard my mother say. Her grandmother is another influence in
her life that she doesn t welcome. Like many Grandmothers she wants her to act like a lady. Girls don

Sexism In The Handmaids Tale
Books that are banned or challenged often have controversial topics but many don t consider the
positive effects of these books. The Handmaid s Tale is an example of this because despite including
uncomfortable topics, it also offers meaningful themes and ideas. Atwood s focus on sexism shows
readers the importance of feminism and equality. For example, on page 72, the author writes, This
week Janine doesn t wait for us to jeer at her. It was my fault, she says. It was my fault. I led them on.
I deserved the pain. This quote shows that the women are being conditioned into blaming themselves
if something such as sexual assault were to happen to them. It s important because readers should
recognize the unjust way of thinking and oppose sexism such as this. Continually, in the novel it says,
Women can t hold property anymore, she said. It s the new law (178). In the story, when society
abruptly changed, women had their rights taken away as displayed in the quote. This illustrates how
sexist the society is in the novel and how Atwood believes life would turn out if people were to
disregard equality. Finally, the job and treatment of the handmaids throughout the story is very unjust.
The handmaids are used for couples who can t have children on their own and must follow strict rules
and complete their job or else they face severe consequences. This conveys, yet again, the inhumane
way a lot of the women are treated and the wrongs of sexism. Ultimately, this theme of sexism

Invasive Species Invasive Species
An organism that is non native to an ecosystem can be defined as an invasive species. Animals, plants,
and fungi can all be considered invasive, exotic, or alien species if they are not originally from that
habitat. These intruders alter the pathways of native organisms by competitive exclusion, niche
displacement, hybridization, introgression predation, and in severe cases extinction (Mooney 2001).
Invasive species can severely and adversely affect populations of native species. Foreign organisms
can be studied around the globe and dedicated ecologists have the responsibility of studying how these
non native species are impacting ecosystems. There are many ways that a species may become
introduced into a new ecosystem. Human activity has long played a role in the translocation of many
types of plants and animals. Throughout time humans have transported species across land, sea, and
sky for recreational purposes, medicinal purposes, and aesthetic purposes. Though the human species
is largely responsible for species translocation, we are not the only cause. Abiotic forces like the wind
and sea play a large role in transporting various organisms and seeds to new and far lands. Not all
introduced species are bad and some have proven to be quite beneficial to new ecosystems. Though
there are beneficial introduced species, more tend to hurt existing ecosystems rather than help it.
When introduced species exploit a specific species trait or fill a vacant niche in an

Birth Defect Research Paper

The main two ways are environmental and genetic. Environmental defects are ones that are caused by
the infant s environment either in utero or after the birth. These could range from drug induced to the
toxins that are in the environment where the child is born. There are also multiple ways that birth
defects can be presented. The most common and accepted ones are structural and
functional/developmental birth defects. Structural abnormalities are defects that occur in the structure
or body parts of the infant (5). These could include cleft lip, heart defects, spina bifida, or anyone that
challenges the normal growth of the infant internally or externally. Functional/developmental defects
are associated with any abnormality that alters how a body part or body system works (5). These most

Essay Death of a Salesman, Tragic Hero. Willy Loman.
To what extent can Willy Loman be considered a tragic hero according to Aristotle s rules?
Arthur Miller presents his play Death of a Salesman in the ancient form of a tragedy. Aristotle has
defined his idea of the perfect tragedy in his text, Poetics (350 BC).Here he suggests that the
protagonist must fall from an elevated social standing as a result of a fatal flaw within the character;
the fall from the main character creates resolution to the play which is seen as just; finally, Aristotle
identified that the action of the drama should take place within a 24hour timeframe. An ancient play
which is believed to be the perfect tragedy is Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. Death of a Salesman is
definitely a tragic play, but is Willy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At age 63 he still believes he is popular, respected and good looking which Linda, his wife,
encourages throughout the play. Statements such as you re the best looking man in the world which
supports his false beliefs. His unpopularity can be seen within the requiem when few people turned up
to his funeral besides his close family who love him, all of which he pushed away including Linda,
who he deceived.
Willy also obtains an idea that image is equal to success. This is known to be his hubris; excessive
pride. He takes pride in material objects Riding on a smile and a shoe shine... personality wins the day
shows how he puts his faith into his personal appearance, and how he appears to smile on the outside
but fails to admit that he isn t on the inside. He thinks personality can be judged on what he says, but
forgets that it shines through when he speaks. I won t have you mending stockings in this house! Now
throw them out . The stockings can be seen as a representative of Loman s unfaithfulness as a husband
as the sight of them brings back memories of when Biff caught him cheating on Linda and found out
the Willy had given the woman the expensive stockings he was supposed to give his wife as a gift.
Willy Loman s reasoning behind doing this may be because he didn t want to come across as low to
his mistress, so by giving her expensive stockings out of the blue it

Comparing Gospels And Pride And Prejudice
The Gospels, by unknown authors, and Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, are two very different
works. The former is a text crafted in order to spread Christianity around the world, while the latter is
a novel for noble women to read in their leisure during the Regency Era. The two texts have some
similarities, however, and the most poignant of these involve gossip and rumor. Rumor is crucial to
the characters in the Gospels and in Pride and Prejudice because it becomes their news, their fact, their
social status, their knowledge, and their power. Without it, the characters would have no connection to
each other or the world around them. Peoples lives revolve around the gossip they hear and read in the
two works, and the way this gossip ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that something happened is not important unless it is recognized and glorified as such. For
example, Jesus acknowledges the importance of doing acts in front of others and therefore spreading
the rumor of those deeds when he says, I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that
they may believe you sent me (John 11, 42). This shows the need to recognize something happening
before it can become important. In Pride and Prejudice, something is not acknowledged as an event
unless it is talked about in front of others. For example, Mrs. Bennet had to be sure to tell everyone
that Bingley danced with Jane the most at the ball, or else it would not have been recognized as an
event (p. 8). Also, the ladies always have to go Longbourn after a ball to discuss the evening s
happenings with the Lucases so they can gossip about the events of the evening, thus establishing
them as important (p. 14). Not only is recognizing something as an event essential in the works, but
rumor can become the event itself. In the Gospels, word, or rumor, becomes God. John opens with the
line, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1, 2).
This shows that as people spread the word, it not only informs people about God, but it becomes God

Nba History
The National Basketball Association is a professional basketball league that racks in billions of dollars
each year. Basketball has become one of the most world renown sports since it first started. Although
basketball may seem like it was an instant hit and has been around forever that is not the case.
Basketball had its humble beginnings in the YMCA, founded by a 30 year old instructor named James
Naismith. Naismith was tasked to come up with an activity that could be played indoors during the
winter months, and was only given fourteen days to do so. He tried indoor versions of other sports
such as soccer, football, and even lacrosse but they all failed for they were too violent and windows
end up broken most of the time. Naismith set out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the ABA were selected by other teams in a draft or granted permission to act as free agents. The New

Belonging In Beneath Clouds By Ivan Sen Marsden
The film Beneath Clouds by Ivan Sen and the picture book The Rabbits composed by John Marsden
and illustrated by Shaun Tan portray the relationship between the representation of the ideas of
belonging and not belonging in a text as well as the meaning responders derive from these
representations. The texts convey perceptions of belonging and not belonging through the characters
interactions with others and the bonds they possess with the environments that surround them. Both
Sen s indigenous film and the adaptation of the colonisation of Australia by Marsden and Tan
demonstrate how investigating the concept of belonging may broaden and deepen the audiences
understanding of themselves and their world by utilising a variety of techniques. ... Show more

The rhetoric Where is the rich, dark earth, brown and moist? Where is the smell of rain dripping from
the gum trees? combined with the lack of light and blackness in the image emphasises the absence of
belonging and lack of life the aboriginals felt after their land was stolen. Due to these events, the
audience will begin to recognize how other people can considerably affect a persons sense of
belonging. The Rabbits articulates the relationship between the Indigenous Australians who are
represented by the marsupials and their land; their sense of belonging depends on the state of their

The Divine Timeless Eternity Theory Essay
The divine timeless eternity theory is the traditional view pertaining to God and time, but it is by no
means the only theory, as there are at least four. My original intention was to compare two views in
relation to this topic, however, the complexity of the dialogue has proven difficult. Therefore, I will
discuss one theory in depth since I believe it will suffice. In this framework, I will discuss the
challenges and varying beliefs with the ideas involved. The goal of my paper is to understand the
doctrine of eternity and find how this changes my understanding of God. Then I will discuss how this
issue influences my approach to God, and to my ministry. First, however, I will explain the need to
uncover the idea of eternalism. We will now proceed.
Why might one explore the idea of how God functions in time? It is extremely difficult to ignore
questions after they have been asked. Historically, questions have been the cause of councils and
creeds that now exist as essential dogmas of the Christian faith. Without questioning, what is real and
what actually exists? The difference can only be distinguished by those who question. While it might
not be explicitly stated, the idea of eternalism is biblical. The theology of the trinity was a similar idea,
where no single passage gives enough evidence to a triune God, but with a proper understanding of
the biblical narrative, there is enough truth to discover such a characteristic of God s nature. In
congruence of this thought,

Human Construction Workers
Since the introduction to computers and the evolvment of them, humans are being replaced in all
industries including construction. In fifty years from now, human construction workers will be
drastically reduced or totally replaced. To once was thought of as science fiction, like CP30 and R2D2
from Star Wars, this has become our new reality. In researching the question, will computerized robots
replace human construciton workers? My answer is yes. In this paper, I will explain and demonstrate,
through my research, why I believe that computerized robots will be replaced by human construction
workers.
The industry has evolved from human hand drawn paper blueprints to computer generated blueprints
and home designs. For example, in certain fields they are using computer laser guided cutting systems
for granite glass and concrete. As far as the robotic end of it, we ve got remote controlled boom trucks
that lift materials. There are also concrete pump trucks that are remotely controlled to pour concrete.

The fascinating novel, Elijah of Buxton, by Christopher Paul Curtis, is about an 11 year old boy who was the first African American born free in the 1800s. On this journey, Elijah sees what his parents had to go through. He witnesses slaves getting treated poorly and other cruel acts. • 5. Essay on Mesoamerican Astronomy Introduction For centuries, people from all latitudes have been fascinated by the night sky. The unreachable stars, the Moon, the comets and all the events happening in the sky, fired up imaginations and became symbols of life and death, of war, peace and the passing of time and the seasons. The movement of the stars was used to establish the time for planting and harvesting, to prepare for the long winters and to try to discover the future and destiny, the eternal unknown destiny of the human race. Developing an extended astronomical knowledge was not very easy because their astronomers did all their observations with the naked eye. However, they were able to do all kinds of incredibly precise astronomical measurements and calculate the seasons, the solstices and eclipses. They did all this by following the patterns of the movements of planets and stars, observing the shadows cast by the Sun, and using some rudimentary instruments. The practice of astronomy was relegated to the ilhuica tlamatilizmatini, or wise man who studies heaven . These priest astronomers had a great amount of power, given the fact that they could essentially predict the future. (Welser Sherrill) II Planets, Stars, the Moon and the Sun. Venus. • 6. I Am Codell Craddock For The Respondent Essay I am Codell Craddock for the Respondent. My colleague, Fiona O Brien has effectively demonstrated why the Hybrid Rights is merely dicta on the part of Justice Scalia and I will immediately follow by defining rational basis review. Rational Basis is the standard of review used by courts when reviewing matters pertaining to the fifth and fourteenth amendment. If a law proves to be rationally related to a legitimate government interest, then it passes rational basis review. In addition, it is not the duty of the court to review the intent of the law, but merely to decide if their is a relationship between the law and a government interest. This rationale was upheld in Swanson Swanson v. Gurthrie Independent school district when the supreme court ruled that the school district s rule to require all students to attend public school full time is a general law that tailors to a governmental interest. In our case, the candy ban was instituted to combat childhood obesity which is a governmental interest. Because as we saw in Barsky vs Board of Regents, the public health of a community is a vital part of a state s police power. It is clear from this, that although the Candy Ban incidentally affects the practice of a religion, there is a clear relationship between the candy ban and public health, a legitimate government interest. Therefore, it passes the rational basis test. Moving on let s discuss, for a moment, that the hybrid rights claim is viable. A claim that may be used when a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LVAD patients live with this device as the last option unless they get new hearts (Rowland et al., 2012). If the device malfunctions or stop their lives can end immediately (Rowland et al., 2012). Therefore, the focus has to be on their follow up cares after they get discharged from the hospital (Banbury et al., 2003). The Jazz Age was one of the many highlights of the 1920 s before the stock market crash that triggered the start of the Great Depression in 1929. Because of the distress that the American soldiers faced during World War 1, many of them returned questioning the true meaning of life. Their solution was to recklessly enjoy their lives since you only live once. A completely new culture bloomed during the decade through it s new music, crazy dancing and brand new atmosphere. This was a drastic change in the lives of Americans since the decision to not give birth to a baby had never been a decision that a women should make alone (E). • 13. Analysis Of Harry Potter And The Philosopher s Stone By... Feminism is misunderstood by many people; being a female and being brave or knowledgable does not automatically make one a feminist. Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone by J.K. Rowling is a prime example of this statement. Although Hermione is very smart and brave, Rowling still portrays her as a typical girl throughout the book. It is shown that Hermione is overly emotional at times, and although she is able, it seems that she cannot do things on her own without the help of Harry and Ron. Hermione is every teacher s dream student. She listens in class, raises her hand whenever she has an answer, and does her homework every day. She does not use her bravery and knowledge for her own use, but to help Harry conquer his destiny. However, Hermione seems perfectly content with her subordinate partnership with Ron and Harry (Heilman 145) Hermione is known to be a know it all even though she really does seem to know it all. Regardless of her behaviour and attitude, she is still a heroic and brave person, hence why she was sorted into Gryffindor but she is not a feminist figure just because of this. Most people have trouble applying things they learn in class to real life situations because either they were not listening or because they do not believe it will be useful. • 14. The Iron Mill By Rebecca Harding Davis In Life in the Iron Mills, Rebecca Harding Davis tells the story of Hugh Wolfe, a lower class man whose love of beauty and desire to move up in the world ultimately leads to his mental decline and demise. Wolfe lives in a town of smothering grey smog and works in an iron mill reminiscent of Hell, places that induce hopelessness and despair by appearance. In contrast to his surroundings, Wolfe possesses a fierce love of beauty and a talent of sculpting with korl, both of which are frequently associated with higher socioeconomic classes. Initially, it appears that Davis means to reinforce the common associations of beauty with the upper class and unseemliness with the lower class. In the story, beauty can be associated with the upper class characters through their polished appearances and admiration of art, inciting a positive association in response to beautiful imagery; unseemliness, on the other hand, can be associated with the lower class and negative feelings because the mill is reminiscent of hell and the characters are generally unattractive. However, when looked at with a closer lens, it appears the story cannot be taken at face value and the typical feelings surrounding beauty and ugliness do not apply in the story. Appearances can be deceiving: within Life in the Iron Mills, ugliness represents opportunity whereas the beauty serves as a distraction. By juxtaposing unsightly and attractive, Davis shows that mobility is possible only through unattractive, hard work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Description Of The History Of Family Centered Services Description of the history of family centered services Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the family centered services generated preventable client assignment with no definite procedures for stability (Mass Engler, 1959; Gruber, 1973 ;as cited by Pecora, Reed Ashcraft, Kirk). Furthermore, Gruber (1973) established that the problem was rooted in insufficient data to make suitable decisions to address clients concerns. Likewise, Franshel Shinn (1978; as cited by Pecora, Reed Ashcraft, Kirk) added that this resulted in one of many issues such as, family centered services encouraging separation between blood relatives by restricting contact. The goals of child welfare services. In order to address these past mishaps, the following three goals were established by child welfare services. His movies are known to be action packed, full of hand to hand combat, as well as having some comedic moments. The films analyzed in this paper will be Project A (1982), Project A 2(1987), as well as Police Story (1985). All of these take place in Hong Kong and are filled with satirical comedy as well as many martial arts scenes. The first two parts of Project A, give the impression of trying to portray a more serious role. On the other hand, Police Story, has plenty of satirical moments as well as some sarcastic ones. My conclusion to this is because Jackie Chan is trying to make fun of the Hong Kong society at the time. During the 1980 s, crime in Hong Kong was abundant, and because of it, the director of the film tried to ridicule the drug cartel portrayed in the movie. They are played as clumsy, and easily defeated by Jackie Chan s incredible martial arts skills. During the whole movie, the astute policeman, played by Jackie Chan, constantly outsmarts the Hong Kong drug cartel. In other words, the Hong Kong cartel is portrayed as stupid and incompetent. • 23. Human Nature In Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi In Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi uses characterization to describe human nature, showing the reader how human nature and the nature of Auschwitz contradict and manifest. Beginning with how human nature manifests to Levi and transitions as it moves through the story. Firstly, in Survival in Auschwitz Primo Levi begins to learn how our human nature manifests in the most desperate and nerve wracking of times. Sooner or later in life everyone discovers that perfect happiness is unrealizable, but there are a few who pause to consider the antithesis: that perfect unhappiness is equally unattainable. In this short excerpt Levi uses thoughtful time to reflect upon this subject, though common considering he is quite quizzical. He uses balanced syntax to form an antithesis, as he even state in the quote. Furthermore, he is quite truthful in his analysis of happiness, in human nature, we can never achieve the complete happiness or even complete unhappiness. Simply, we can only reach a certain extent of content and a limit of depression. In a way, this quote characterizes our essence of human nature and our unattainability of ... Also, he used thoughtful yet dumbfoundead tone, he was halted in amazement as to how one could harm another yet he had done no wrong. • 24. Bioethical And Political Issues Essay Identifying Bioethical and Political Issues Scenario 1: You are the healthcare administrator of a nursing home. You are informed by your Admissions Director that a new memory impaired resident has been admitted into your long term care unit. The staff is concerned about the involvement of family with your resident. Family members from out of town arrived and expressed concern about your resident s do not resuscitate (DNR) orders which were authorized by the Power of Attorney of another family member. A quarrel erupts in the nursing home with family members voicing their opinions loudly. You arrive on the scene and are immediately told by the visiting family member, Do you know who I am? I am a supervisor for the Department of Health and Human Services and will not hesitate to have your facility surveyed for noncompliance. What do you do? Any situation that erupts which can disturb the other residents is something that must be diffused immediately, as a healthcare administrator I would have to address this state of affairs with empathy and genuine concern for the opinions of the family members not in agreement with the do not resuscitate (DNR) order. First, I would ask that we move to a private location where we could speak and if voices are elevated it would not interfere with the day to day operation of the nursing home. Second, I would ask to see the Power of Attorney if it is available to speak to the legality of the document. Provided that, all the previous terms set in place are up to par, I would directly talk about the statement made about the family member making me aware of her position with the Department of Health and Human Services. Moreover, going through the document to point out the date signed, to make note if the new resident signed it before here memory was too far gone and if the Power of Attorney would not be substantial. Then I d call attention to the difference between a Power of Attorney and Durable Power of Attorney. Grammarly states, The biggest difference is in when the power ends. • 25. Factors Affecting Tax Compliance of Small and Medium Scale... Background of the Study Tax compliance has been a topic of great interest to Revenue authorities especially in the developed countries. Hostility towards tax compliance is an age old problem. Taxes are considered a problem by everyone. Not surprising, taxation problems date back to the earliest recorded history (Taxworld Organization, 1999). Developing countries, perhaps due to their frequent budget deficits have not been able to conduct comprehensive research on the behavior of taxpayer in relation to compliance. Hostility between the taxpayers and tax collectors on issue relating to tax compliance is evidenced by frequent tax evasion reports in our local newspapers (Juma, 2010) and outward resistance from taxpayers for example the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An experiment with presumption tax (abolished in 1993 and re introduced in 1995) was a particularly notable attempt to formalize parts of the informal agricultural sector (Cheeseman and Griffins, 2005). Further attempts focused on the use of advance tax and tax on rental incomes. However, given the invisibility of the informal sector and scarce empirical work to understand tax relevant information, the presumption tax approach and the advance tax approaches failed to achieve the intended objectives. It is not difficult to understand why they could not work. If the Government does not know about the income received by farmers, farm workers and small scale entrepreneurs, it can have no prospects of taxing it. This creates the need for a proper income survey to determine the optimal tax yield, the ability and willingness to pay. The advent of the East African Community customs union further complicates the tax compliance risk management problem. In 2005, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania signed a treaty forming the East Africa Community (EAC) customs union which has now been expanded to include Rwanda and Burundi. The purpose of the customs union is to promote trade and other elements of regional development. The dominant feature of the customs union is that member states agreed to reduce tariffs. If the person is attracted to people of a different sex, they are heterosexual but if they are attracted to people of the same sex then the person is homosexual. A person is bisexual when they are attracted to both sexes. (Savic et al, ____) In humans it is easy to ask people who they are attracted to and often people fall on a spectrum. Sexual orientation and same sex relationships in humans is something that has gotten a lot of public attention in the past few decades. • 35. Sexism In The Handmaids Tale Books that are banned or challenged often have controversial topics but many don t consider the positive effects of these books. The Handmaid s Tale is an example of this because despite including uncomfortable topics, it also offers meaningful themes and ideas. Atwood s focus on sexism shows readers the importance of feminism and equality. For example, on page 72, the author writes, This week Janine doesn t wait for us to jeer at her. It was my fault, she says. It was my fault. I led them on. I deserved the pain. This quote shows that the women are being conditioned into blaming themselves if something such as sexual assault were to happen to them. It s important because readers should recognize the unjust way of thinking and oppose sexism such as this. Continually, in the novel it says, Women can t hold property anymore, she said. It s the new law (178). In the story, when society abruptly changed, women had their rights taken away as displayed in the quote. This illustrates how sexist the society is in the novel and how Atwood believes life would turn out if people were to disregard equality. Finally, the job and treatment of the handmaids throughout the story is very unjust. The handmaids are used for couples who can t have children on their own and must follow strict rules and complete their job or else they face severe consequences. This conveys, yet again, the inhumane way a lot of the women are treated and the wrongs of sexism. Ultimately, this theme of sexism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Animals, plants, and fungi can all be considered invasive, exotic, or alien species if they are not originally from that habitat. These intruders alter the pathways of native organisms by competitive exclusion, niche displacement, hybridization, introgression predation, and in severe cases extinction (Mooney 2001). Invasive species can severely and adversely affect populations of native species. Foreign organisms can be studied around the globe and dedicated ecologists have the responsibility of studying how these non native species are impacting ecosystems. There are many ways that a species may become introduced into a new ecosystem. Human activity has long played a role in the translocation of many types of plants and animals. Throughout time humans have transported species across land, sea, and sky for recreational purposes, medicinal purposes, and aesthetic purposes. Though the human species is largely responsible for species translocation, we are not the only cause. Abiotic forces like the wind and sea play a large role in transporting various organisms and seeds to new and far lands. Not all introduced species are bad and some have proven to be quite beneficial to new ecosystems. • 42. Comparing Gospels And Pride And Prejudice The Gospels, by unknown authors, and Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, are two very different works. The former is a text crafted in order to spread Christianity around the world, while the latter is a novel for noble women to read in their leisure during the Regency Era. The two texts have some similarities, however, and the most poignant of these involve gossip and rumor. Rumor is crucial to the characters in the Gospels and in Pride and Prejudice because it becomes their news, their fact, their social status, their knowledge, and their power. Without it, the characters would have no connection to each other or the world around them. Peoples lives revolve around the gossip they hear and read in the two works, and the way this gossip ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that something happened is not important unless it is recognized and glorified as such. For example, Jesus acknowledges the importance of doing acts in front of others and therefore spreading the rumor of those deeds when he says, I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe you sent me (John 11, 42). This shows the need to recognize something happening before it can become important. In Pride and Prejudice, something is not acknowledged as an event unless it is talked about in front of others. For example, Mrs. Bennet had to be sure to tell everyone that Bingley danced with Jane the most at the ball, or else it would not have been recognized as an event (p. 8). Also, the ladies always have to go Longbourn after a ball to discuss the evening s happenings with the Lucases so they can gossip about the events of the evening, thus establishing them as important (p. 14). Not only is recognizing something as an event essential in the works, but rumor can become the event itself. In the Gospels, word, or rumor, becomes God. John opens with the line, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1, 2). This shows that as people spread the word, it not only informs people about God, but it becomes God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basketball has become one of the most world renown sports since it first started. Although basketball may seem like it was an instant hit and has been around forever that is not the case. Basketball had its humble beginnings in the YMCA, founded by a 30 year old instructor named James Naismith. Naismith was tasked to come up with an activity that could be played indoors during the winter months, and was only given fourteen days to do so. He tried indoor versions of other sports such as soccer, football, and even lacrosse but they all failed for they were too violent and windows end up broken most of the time. Naismith set out ... Belonging In Beneath Clouds By Ivan Sen Marsden The film Beneath Clouds by Ivan Sen and the picture book The Rabbits composed by John Marsden and illustrated by Shaun Tan portray the relationship between the representation of the ideas of belonging and not belonging in a text as well as the meaning responders derive from these representations. The texts convey perceptions of belonging and not belonging through the characters interactions with others and the bonds they possess with the environments that surround them. Both Sen s indigenous film and the adaptation of the colonisation of Australia by Marsden and Tan demonstrate how investigating the concept of belonging may broaden and deepen the audiences understanding of themselves and their world by utilising a variety of techniques. ... • 46. The Divine Timeless Eternity Theory Essay The divine timeless eternity theory is the traditional view pertaining to God and time, but it is by no means the only theory, as there are at least four. My original intention was to compare two views in relation to this topic, however, the complexity of the dialogue has proven difficult. Therefore, I will discuss one theory in depth since I believe it will suffice. In this framework, I will discuss the challenges and varying beliefs with the ideas involved. The goal of my paper is to understand the doctrine of eternity and find how this changes my understanding of God. Then I will discuss how this issue influences my approach to God, and to my ministry. First, however, I will explain the need to uncover the idea of eternalism. We will now proceed. Why might one explore the idea of how God functions in time? It is extremely difficult to ignore questions after they have been asked. Historically, questions have been the cause of councils and creeds that now exist as essential dogmas of the Christian faith. Without questioning, what is real and what actually exists? The difference can only be distinguished by those who question. While it might not be explicitly stated, the idea of eternalism is biblical. The theology of the trinity was a similar idea, where no single passage gives enough evidence to a triune God, but with a proper understanding of the biblical narrative, there is enough truth to discover such a characteristic of God s nature. In congruence of this thought, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Human Construction Workers Since the introduction to computers and the evolvment of them, humans are being replaced in all industries including construction. In fifty years from now, human construction workers will be drastically reduced or totally replaced. To once was thought of as science fiction, like CP30 and R2D2 from Star Wars, this has become our new reality. In researching the question, will computerized robots replace human construciton workers? My answer is yes. In this paper, I will explain and demonstrate, through my research, why I believe that computerized robots will be replaced by human construction workers. The industry has evolved from human hand drawn paper blueprints to computer generated blueprints and home designs. For example, in certain fields they are using computer laser guided cutting systems for granite glass and concrete. As far as the robotic end of it, we ve got remote controlled boom trucks that lift materials. There are also concrete pump trucks that are remotely controlled to pour concrete. ...
