The Beatles Band
You may say I m a dreamer, but I m not the only one. I hope someday you ll join us. And the world

― John Lennon. In the 1960 s there weren t many big, popular boy bands. The Beatles were one
of the first boy bands that have gotten popular. During the 1960 s the Beatles were the best boy
band worldwide. The Beatles created a pathway to all the boy bands now /and/ in the future. The

a skiffle group with a lot of his high school friends. ( The Beatles ) John Lennon was only 16
when he started a high school band that later on became a big success. Secondly, The fifteen
year old George Harrison auditioned for Lennon, impressing him with his playing, but a little
after he performed the lead guitar part for the instrumental Raunchy on the upper deck of a
Liverpool bus,and they enlisted him as their lead guitarist. By January 1959, Lennon s Quarry
Bank friends had left the group ( The Beatles ) Most of the people that joined Lennon s high

The Effects Of Fast Food On Americans Sitting At A Blue...
An apple red roof glinting in the sun attached to a pale building, about the color of an English
tourist in the Caribbean. If you look lower, you can see the effect of fast food on Americans
sitting at a blue bus stop. So far this area is very diverse. The sky is about as blue as my
suffocating aunt when she was born unable to breath (if you re at all concerned, don t worry, she

is blue. Get over it. Now, in the window of this establishment (as a personal preference, I ask that
when you read this you say it in the most pompous voice you can, I promise it ads character), as
we will call it for now, is a sign confidently proclaiming the existence of a double cheeseburger for
only one dollar, and an OPEN 24 HOURS sign!! Yes, dear reader, you have entered the realm
where you too can get fat for only one dollar and three in the morning after a fifth of vodka (I

man shouts as he ogles the sign with wide eyes. Yes bro that is all day, because that makes them
more money when the drunks come in after the bars close and accidentally spend five hundred
dollars on milkshakes (again not personal experience). What is the name of this fabulous place,

The Animals Of Animal Animals
The animals of this world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans anymore

animals are afraid of us. They probably think that we humans would hurt them. And they re actually
right, we use them for clothes, food, transportation and entertainment. For me, these are really good
valid reasons to be afraid. Throughout the years, there have been many adjustment in how to treat

However, the park instead chooses to stick with the same inhumane business model that it has
used for 50 years, despite all the violent and deadly incidents and evidence of harm. In an article
by the Huffington Post by Brianna Elliott, it gives a viewpoint on how some people treat
animals like objects and not human beings which means, as humans sometimes we forget how
to deal with situations as so. Also, to prove that a picture is enough to see how some animals
deaths go unnoticed. ( 1). In addition, fewer than 5% to 10% of zoos and aquaria are involved in

Similarities Between Land And Landscape In Gil Paris
PEOPLE AND LANDSCAPE. The relationship existing between society, land and landscape is
complex. People s attitudes continuously reflect in their behavior, notably patterns of
consumption via existing recreational activities, as well as in their expressed preferences. Society
attaches great significance to land. As evident in the movie Midnight in Paris, Gil Pender an
American Screenwriter falls in love with the Paris landscape while he visits his fiancГ©e. He has

Their attitudes are shaped by various different factors. Some of the factors include Age, both
economic and social status, their ethnic origin, the familiarity of the place or residence, whether
rural or urban. All this factors are significant when determining environmental relationships.
Journeys are cconsidered as the midwives of thoughts that people tend to have. Moreover, places
always pose as being conducive to the existing internal conversations unlike moving ships, trains
or planes. A correlation exists between the things we have ability to see and the thoughts we
develop in our minds. It is because large thoughts may require larger views while new thoughts
require new places. Therefore, the introspective reflection that are liable to stall appear to be

Character Analysis Of Napolewell And The Animal Farm
Mr. Jones
Mr. Jones was the original owner of the farm whose rule ended when the animals rebelled. His
character symbolizes that of the ruler of Russia prior to the revolution, Tsar Nicholas II, who
resigned from the throne due to unrest in the people. Prior to the animal rebellion, Jones had lost
money due to a lawsuit and his farm suffered, his men were idle and dishonest, the fields were full
of weeds...and the animals were underfed (38). This was the breaking point that finally led the
animals to rebel. Correspondingly, the immediate cause towards Nicholas II s abdication were food
shortages (the driving force of the February Revolution). Napoleon
After Jones was out of the way, Snowball and Napoleon became the two disagreeing leaders.
Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, although he wasn t the immediate next leader of Russia after
Tsar Nicholas II was overthrown. Just as how Napoleon executed animals who were a threat and
the air was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown since the expulsion of Mr.
Jones (Nicholas II was given the name Nicholas the Bloody), Joseph Stalin had his reign of terror
called the Great Purge (93) where he executed many of his own people whom he believed were
against him. Another striking similarity was when Napoleon agreed to cooperate with Frederick,
selling him the pile of timber, and assured the animals that the stories of an impending attack on
Animal Farm were completely untrue (105). However, Frederick did eventually

Compare And Contrast The Frames Of Political Parties
Political parties are a mainstay of American political discourse and an alliance of people who
strive for the same goals in government. They compete against each other to fulfill their policies
and to have political power.
The Framers of the Constitution had a fear for political parties, or political factions as they would
go against the ideology in which the Framer s set forth in the Constitution. The republican ideals
that formed our way of government called for politics that were inclusive and for the public good;
politics that were collaborative. The Constitution calls for compromise in order to achieve success
in government. The Constitution also has two clauses which would lead to huge debacles should
major political factions arise. The necessary and proper clause and general welfare clause posed this
threat. Many Framers believed that this may be too broad and that interpretations would be very
different by different people. This when coupled by the natural instinct would lead to political
factions being founded on these ideas. The faction that would determine what these meant would be
the party in control of the government. But this is what the framers feared. Should a faction attain a
majority and determine what these two clauses meant, it would ultimately ... Show more content on

Spectrophotometer Lab
Introduction:
A spectrophotometer is an instrument that measures the quantitative amounts of light of different
wavelengths absorbed and transmitted by a pigment solution (Mitchell, Reece). The
spectrophotometer includes a light bulb, a reflector, and a detector. When a sample is in place and
the chamber lid is closed, light from the light bulb passes through it. The detector measures the
amount of light transmitted. The white light from the bulb is separated into different wavelengths
by reflecting the beam off of a diffraction grating, forming a ... Show more content on

The guide mark on the cuvette was aligned with the guide mark at the front of the sample
compartment. The lid was closed.
5) The wavelength was set to zero nm using the wavelength control knob. 6) The transmittance
percent and absorption were recorded from the
Transmittance/Absorbance scale.
7) It was often checked that the meter needle readss 0 on the %

The Daphnia Magna Experiment
Plant compounds play a very important role in the defense of plants and in this experiment the
plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava were tested on Daphnia magna to test if there
was a change in heartbeat of the organism. The purpose of the experiment was to see how these
compounds affected the Daphnia magna. The t values for both the caffeine and Kava kava were
calculated to be 1.82 and 1.62, which were both smaller than the obtained t critical value of 2.57. A
conclusion was drawn that there was no statistically significant difference in heart rate after the plant
defensecompounds of caffeine and Kava kava were added compared to before they were added.
Introduction: In this experiment two plant defensive compounds, ... Show more content on

Their bodies are encased by an uncalcified shell, carapace, and they can reach lengths of 5mm
with a kidney bean shape (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna live in mostly freshwater
environments, but can live in certain brackish water areas. In comparing males and females the
males have smaller body sizes, larger antennas a modified post abdomen (Ebert, 2005). The
Daphnia magna are good test subjects to assess the effects of the plant defense compounds of
caffeine and Kava kava, as they are easy to care for, inexpensive, and the effects of the
compound are easily noted through looking at the heart rate of the organism under a microscope.
This experiment required the use of a two tailed t test to determine whether there was a
difference in heart of the Daphnia magna before and after the plant defensive compounds
(caffeine and Kava kava) were introduced. This test also helps to see if the difference in the test is
statistically significant, which determines if the results obtained occurred by chance. A t value is
obtained to get the probability value and as the t value increases it signifies a larger meaningful
difference between the two groups (Blanar, 2017) and as it decreases the opposite happens. If a t
value is smaller than the t critical value the null hypothesis is accepted, but if the obtained t value
is larger than the t critical value the null hypothesis is rejected. A p value is also important for this
experiment, as it is the probability the null hypothesis is correct. The null hypothesis for this
experiment was that there was no difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant
defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared to before, while the
alternative hypothesis generated was that there is a difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after
the plant defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared

Relationship Between Tian And Human
The relationship between Tian and human When it comes to Tian , most Chinese people regard it
as nature or heaven, but there are much more different cognition advocated by traditional Chinese
philosophers. For instance, Mencius believes that Heaven is an absolute ruler and it is the destiny,
which human is unable to change in any case. (A.T.Nuyen 2013) On the contrary, Xun zi thinks
that nature runs automatically and regularly. In order to live a life of happiness and richness,
people are supposed to actively make an efficient use of it. (Chan 1963) Apart from these two
concept mentioned above, Zhuang zi put forward another completely different idea. He suggests
that human and nature should co exist peacefully without rivalry or any... Show more content on

(A.T.Nuyen 2013) During the Warring States period, people did not have other choices but
follow what heaven managed for them as they were asked, and they were also told not to change
anything. No matter what kind of unfair things they were suffering, they were convinced to
follow the fate because that was heaven s word. Although both of Mencius and Xun zi acquired
knowledge from Confucian school, they were not in agreement on Tian . In Spring and Autumn
period, Xun zi held the opinion that heaven ran regularly and it did not exist or cease to exist for
the sake of anybody. (Chan 1963) What s more, Xun zi thought that human could try to analyzing
the regularity of heaven. Once people mastered it, they would gain greatly. They could play an
active role in their live and make a use of the regularity for the benefit of human beings. (Janghee
2005) Compared to Mencius and Xun zi, Zhuang zi has a totally different idea about Tian . Zhuang
zi thinks that heaven and human, as well as Dao are interlinked. To some degree, they roll into one.
And there is an interesting story about Zhuang zi. One day he had a dream of himself becoming a
butterfly and when he woke up, he could not figure out whether the butterfly dreamed about him or
he dreamed about a butterfly. What Zhuang zi really wants to tell us through this story is that
human is supposed to live with nature peacefully and harmoniously. (Yao 2013) What is more, I

Unconscious Mind In Frankenstein
The notion that human beings are motivated, even driven, by desires, fears, needs, and conflicts of
which they are unaware (Tyson 12). Life is driven by desires, fears, needs, and conflicts that are
stored in the unconscious. The unconscious is the control center of the mind, and it decides
whether or not certain memories can be tolerated. If the unconscious determines that a memory can
t be handled, two things can happen: repression of memories or modification of memories.
Whereas memory is the storage of events, perception is the live viewing of those events. Selective
perception is hearing and seeing only what we feel we can handle (Tyson 15). These tactics of the
unconscious mindcan be found in Shelley s Frankenstein. Victor s unconscious mind alters or
represses memories and perceptions changing the way his mind functions, throughout the novel.
While creating both monsters, Victor s unconscious mind feels that he can t handle death; he is still
not over the death of his mother. His inability to move on from the death of his mother, is the
reason for the creation of the monster.
Victor s traumatic experience with death cause him to selectively modify the consequences that
come from the creation of the monster. The traumatic experience with death is early on in the
novel. In chapter 3 Victor s mother Caroline dies of Scarlet Fever which she contracted from
Elizabeth. This experience changes Victor permanently, he becomes obsessed with bringing her
back to life.

Why Math Is Important For Teaching Mathematics And How...
Math Philosophy Paper Math is developing concepts or standards that s important for teaching
mathematics to students from Pre K to high school. In our changing world, those who understand
and can do mathematics will have significant opportunities and options for shaping their future.
(NCTM 2000, p.50). The two important tools to be an effective teacher is knowledge of
mathematics and how students learn mathematics. The purposes of math educationeffect our life
since the time we were able to walk. We were taught how to count on our fingers to being able to
write our numbers to ten. Then as we got older, concepts were more challenging and involved
critical thinking to solve the problems. In society today, math is being utilized in simple to complex
avenues such as grocery shopping, measuring, budgeting, investments, architecture, science and
technology to name a few. If we take a look around our environment signs, buildings, bridges,
streets and just the different patterns and shapes all relate back to mathematics. My role as a math
teacher in the classroom would be creating an inviting math environment for my students, being
able to explain math to all my students in ways that they understand and model math in an
effective way. I want to be a leader, share my knowledge, engage and challenge my students,
support them, respect them, be positive and keep them interested in math. The qualities I would
have as an effective teacher is the knowledge and skills and the

Writing An Article On Wikipedia Essay
Despite the popular belief, writing an article on Wikipedia is subject to several rules. For
example, before creating a page for a new article and a new topic, you have to make sure that the
subject you tackled is either popular enough or old enough to be published. Yet there are some
exceptions to this rule. It is the case for sudden events such as November 2015 Paris attacks that
took place few days ago but already have a Wikipedia page.i Notability is not the only criterion
to take into account before knowing if your article can be published or not. You also have to
follow some basic rules such as avoiding plagiarism or always cite your sources at the end of the
article. Moreover as an author you have to remain as neutral as possible. One of Wikipedia s
goal is to provide information without any biased point of view or personal statement. Maybe
the two most important and famous pillars of Wikipedia are the fact that it is free to use and
licence free. Anyone can publish, edit or use a Wikipedia article as long as one follows the rules
mentioned earlier.ii Without a doubt, Wikipedia is a website that you can use from time to time
to find some pieces of information about various subjects. Since it is an open website it covers a
very wide spectrum of topics. One of the drawbacks of it being open is that its content is not
100% reliable. That is the reason why to write an essay it is better to avoid the use of this website.
However some parts of articles cannot be edited

Business Decision of River s Dance School Essay
Business Decision of River s Dance School
When making a drastic business decision such as the one proposed by River s Dance School, it is
important to go about making the decision in the appropriate manner, through the use of a formal
decision making model process. This should be done with the aid of relevant information generated
in the accounting process and through an evaluation of the effectiveness of the dance school s
ownership structure.
When deciding whether or not to close the River s Dance School, it is in the best interests for
Dana and David to follow a formal decision making process such as the CACE decision making

Having established the problem, Dana and David now need to gather any information relevant to
the problem that may aid them in making a decision.
This step in the CACE decision making model is where the accounting process plays a vital part.
The final step of the accounting process in which final reports are prepared provides Dana and
David with the opportunity to analyse and interpret these reports, calculate ratios and compare these
with the industry average providing them with necessary information regarding the profitability of
Rivers Dance School. These reports include a statement of financial performance, which shows
revenue earned and expenses incurred calculating the businesses profit and loss. Other statements
prepared in this part of the accounting process are also necessary as they may enable Dana and
David to see what the business may have done differently in the past three years that has resulted in
the change in profitability.
Other information sourced outside of the accounting process may also be of help such as the
management of competitors businesses or student feedback. Having gathered all the relevant
information, Dana and David must now put aside the idea of closing the business for the moment
and first look at ways of improving the schools profitability and solving the problems of the
business, while meeting its objectives, using information gathered.

The Effect Of Optical Fiber On The Growth Of The Economy...
German market has always been a trend setter when it about telecoms. Since the first commercial

and since more than 30 years, the increased research, technology development and
commercialization of optical fibercombined with their continuously growing technical applications
have been become a success story of optical fiber in Germany. In addition, Independent research has
proven that investments in future proof infrastructure have a significant positive influence on the
growth of the economy of Germany. During most recent 10 years, Germany has put over €80
billion in telecommunications infrastructure, yet to the extent ultra fast broadband accessibility is
concerned, the nation is still a sleeping giant. However, Interests in future proof infrastructure won t

Music And Music Therapy
Music is present in our everyday lives, in many different forms, yet we are oblivious to its
therapeutic values. Individuals with mental illnesses have hardships that they face daily. Patients
will mental illnesses may use music therapy to improve the extremity of their mood swings and
ultimately, their way of life. What is music therapy? Music therapy is the skillful use of music and
musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental,
physical, emotional, and spiritual health (Ulbricht, PsychologyToday). Since the beginning of time,
music therapy has been documented in multiple ways. In the Old Testament of the Bible, David
was found comforting Saul with his harp. Also, Plato and Aristotle both wrote of the virtues of
music to calm and soothe, as well as for stimulation and motivation. On the contrary, music
therapy wasn t a professional discipline in the United States until the 1940s. In the 21st century, it
has broadened even further and is used in diverse areas of medicine, such as cancer, palliative and
pain control for surgical patients. Even with countless experiments and evidence, there are plenty
of people that are still suspicious of the therapeutic benefits of music. As a result of this, music has
been found as one of the least funded activities in schools and universities. One of the biggest areas
that music needs to be referred to is mental illnesses. What necessarily makes someone have a
mental illness? A mental

Conflict in Daniel Ridgway KnightВґs Paintings
Daniel Ridgway Knight was an odd American artist who loved to paint relaxed French peasants in
luscious landscapes. Ironically, he lived during a stressful time when the Industrial Revolution
displaced numerous farmers and polluted the environment. He seemed to ignore the harsh truth and
shut himself in his imaginary serene world. For instance, In the Premier Chagrin, translated as The
First Grief, Knight paints two healthy girls conversing on a stonewall in front of gorgeous fields. At
first, it appears as merely a pretty painting that is nicely contrasted to show depth and realism.
Yet, with a closer look, this contrast in the colors and lines of the landscape and the figures
creates tension to suggest the painter s conflict between longing for serene freedom and feeling
trapped within the stiff society. Though the viewers focus first on the centered figures, it is easier
to first analyze the surrounding settings to understand them. The stone wall foreground and the
open fields of the background each embodies one of the girl s thoughts. The back landscape is
filled with warm, airy colors of blue and orange, as if it were under a bright sun. On the other hand,
the foreground s stone wallsand concrete floor has dark, cold, shadowy, earthy colors that seem to
appear as if under a stormy cloud. The sunny land suggests free, pure, spacious land previous to the
industrialization. Yet, the darkened foreground due to the overcasting shadows resemble the

important aspect: the minor characters, for they hold great significance. Amongst these minor
characters are femalecharacters who play plot twisting roles. Through them, Wharton subtly
breaches the societal expectations of her time by inserting this concept that women too play an
important role in society. In addition, Wharton s characters refute the haunting words of Queen
Victoria: Let women be what God intended, a helpmate for a man, but with totally different duties
and vocations (Trueman).

As Mary Boyne lead readers through the world of Afterward , readers heard but one clear note,
the voice of Alida Stair, speaking on the lawn at Pangbourne (Wharton 140). Her iconic words that
played a pivotal role in the narrative began and ended the story. They revealed the story. The
impact her words possess, however, escalates knowing they came from the mouth of a woman.
Unlike the girl on the bench, Alida Stair could ve been male. Wharton intended readers to
remember the words of a woman to prove they can hold as great of significance as words that
came from a man. Showing that a woman held the answer is like declaring that women are the
answer that society have long sought for.
The world didn t realize till long, long afterward women s treasure like potential that have since
played a massive part in the advancement of society (Wharton 163). Wharton represent one of the
many who successfully broke the pre existing mindset of women and proved to the world the
capabilities of women that have been long suppressed. Wharton conveyed women s significance in
society through even the most seemingly insignificant roles, emphasizing the hidden nature of
women s intellectual potential, which becomes one of the many things readers discover from her

Romeo And Juliet Tragic Love Character Analysis
Superficial Romance: The Tragic Love Story of Romeo and Juliet During the Elizabethan era,
the sole job of people was to marry and have children to carry on the lineage of one s family.
Many individuals married into families of higher status to raise their own status, and were also
married for their beauty, which was thought to continue through their descendants. The love that
was felt at the time was, in most cases, based on these outer attributes rather than internal ones
such as personality. The practice of loving for appearances is clearly expressed in the drama,
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, where two opposing families,
the Capulets and the Montagues, coexist in the town of Verona. Romeo, from the house of the
Montagues, is infatuated with Rosaline for her beauty, but his feelings for her immediately
disappear when Romeo sees the far more beautiful Juliet, daughter of the Capulets. When they
meet, Romeo s feelings are requited by Juliet, who then no longer wants to accept the arranged
marriage with her suitor, Paris. The romantic love among Romeo, Rosaline, Juliet, and Paris, as
well as the expectations Juliet s family has for her love is highly superficial, revealing that these
characters value their loved ones for their external appearances, rather than who they are on the
inside. Romeo s love for Juliet is unreliable and overexaggerated. In a short summary of recent
events, the Chorus states that now old desire doth in his

Examples Of Cultural Differences In The United States
In the United States of America, there are a lot of cultural differences compared to other
countries. These cultural differences could vary from different types of healthcare provided by
their government, choice of food, and attitude. It has been about fifteen years now that I have
lived in the United States of America and I have noticed a lot of cultural differences that the US
has the is a lot different to other countries around the world. I have noticed these cultural
differences by exposing myself to the public. For example going to the store, school, spending time

Essay on Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer was a poet, a writer, and of course a diplomat. Geoffrey Chaucer was born in
the early hours of 1340s to John Chaucer, a vintner and assistant to the king s butler. As a boy, he
was a leaf to the Countess of Ulster. (Lombardi) Chaucer was the most famous for writing his
unfinished Canterbury tales. (Geoffrey Chaucer) He was born in London, only problem is, the exact
date and place are unknown. From his writings Chaucer emerges as poet of love, both worldly
and heavenly. No information exists about his early education, although without a doubt he would
have been as good in French as in the Middle English of his time. (Bio.True Story) Chaucer pops

(Geoffrey Chaucer) When these versions of his poems were printed, that was the time where
Geoffrey Chaucer truly became famous.(Geoffrey Chaucer) It was in Chaucer s final phase,
which he gained his popularity, The Canterbury Tales (written mostly after 1387). The
Canterbury Tales was an unfinished poem. Being his most successful, it consists of 17000 lines.
It was one of the most unsullied works in all literature. (Info Please) The Canterbury Tales is a

Hermes Life And Accomplishments
Hermes, the son of Zeus and Maia, was born in a cave atop mount Cyllene in Arcadia. A myth
tells that after his birth, Hermes snuck out and stole Apollo s herd. This shows how sneaky
Hermes can be and his impulse to steal. To keep from being discovered by the tracks, he put boots
on their feet and led them to Pylos (HERMES GOD О•ОЎОњО—ОЈ). Cunning Hermes proceeded
with his stolen cattle and Apollowent to search for them. Later, Apollo went to Zeusand demanded
his cattle back. Zeus took Apollo to Pylos to return Apollo s herd. Although Apollo was there for
his herd, he heard Hermes playing a tortoise shell lyre and traded his herd for it. This lyre and a

Counter Reform Of The Roman Catholic Church
Counter Reform of the Roman Catholic Church
The reading this week covered a pretty expansive timeline, starting in 1534 with the founding of the
Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, through the issuance of both The Doctrine of Papal Infallibility,
established in 1870, and The Doctrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in 1950. Not
to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The
Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. There were primarily
two things that stood out for me. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the
incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time,
especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching
of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the
Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin
Luther and the growing Protestant movement.
From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning
what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. (Panzer) It was apparent that the chattel
slavery being witnessed at this time was different from the slavery mentioned biblically and
practiced historically. Pope Paul III stated that this practice of enslaving an entire ethnic group of
people for no morally justifiable

and its nickname the garden state . But what most people don t know is its history. Some don t

How Did Classical Music Influence Mozart s Life
Most people, when they hear the first notes of Symphony No. 40 in g minor, instantly recognize

John Donne s quot;the Flea quot;, a Critical Analysis Essay
Since the beginning of time, one of the most captivating and yet elusive of all emotions has been
love. Back in the 17th century most male poets wrote about woman s beauty, while others
romanticized lustful inclinations in poetry. The clich #233; love at first sight, is too often idealized
to be the epitome of true love; most poets will uphold to the prior statement such as John Donne
and Andrew Marvell. In John Donne s The Flea Donne expresses his love for a woman without
having touched her. On the other hand, Andrew Marvell in To My Coy Mistress, glorifies and
adores the woman s beauty; however there is a sense of urgency in his words and an underlying
sexual current as well. Nonetheless, both poets attempt to persuade their... Show more content on

Donne cleverly asserts that no sin, nor shame was lost and her virginity and purity is still intact,
nor loss of maidenhead. And because of this, she should cherish the flea, which is the symbol of
their relationship. On the other hand, an insect does not make decisions as humans do and acts
according to its instincts; making its actions random. Wherein could this flea guilty be, / except
in that drop it sucked from thee? The random act of the flea sucking both Donne and his
sweethearts blood happened by coincidence. That coincidence Donne claims is the best way to
share their love for each other when he says, Just so much honor, when thou yield st to me,
/ Will waste, as this flea s death took life from thee (lines 26 27). If the woman slept with Donne,
then she would be dishonored, and he does not want her wasted away. Whereas, if she kills the
flea then the union of their lives their relationship will die as well. Though Donne attempts to
convince the woman of his love via the flea, Marvell s method is more direct and less particular.
Marvell s method of persuading the woman is overly eager and immodest to the point of
animalistic copulation. He is solely attracted to her beauty, yet her modesty is a barrier for him to
win her over with time being his main enemy. That long preserved virginity, / And your quaint

Keystone Predation
Topic and Justification
Interactions between organisms and their environment shape how ecosystems function. Research
has shown that some species can occupy a keystone role, providing disproportionately great benefits
to the ecosystem and its inhabitants, highlighting their importance to stability and biodiversity
(Hooper et al., 2005; Hossack et al., 2015). However, keystone predation is still a contentious topic,
especially when asserting that apex predators of most ecosystems provide their own incredible
ecosystem influences (Estes et al., 2011). This study aims to analyze the importance of the tertiary
predator Puma concolor (Mountain Lion), an organism not known for a significant keystone
relationship with Mendocino landscapes. This study will look at predator prey interactions and

Their presence, and often the mere possibility of it, induces behavioral changes in prey that limit
how much said organisms forage and reproduce. Ultimately, production of this so called landscape
of fear limits prey populations, along with direct predation (William et al., 2014). These types of
indirect effects are also manifested by humans, and have strong behavioral implications for apex
predators. Studies show that mountain lion prefer to perform reproductive behaviors, like
communication and denning, much further from human development than they do more regular
behaviors, like feeding (Wilmers et al., 2013). Human encroachment has a significant behavioral
consequence for these creatures. So, in order to maintain the keystone benefits of an apex predator,
both their populations and home ranges may require often disregarded protections (Hannah,

Tattoos And Body Art
There were many different forms of body art that was shown in the documentary. In the culture
there are the bandag s, the markings that they have, and Tattoos and body art painting is an art
movement in its own right. It is getting to the point that having an original tattoo done by a
famed tattoo artist is as coveted as owning an original artwork done by one of the painting
masters. People will proudly show off and boast of their ink as if they are showing a Da Vinci,
Picasso or Monet. However, they rarely brag about its uniqueness or cost; they would rather rattle
off the amount of hours it took to complete and the inspiration and personal meaning behind it.
Due to body art s current popularity, tattoo artists are being likened to the painting masters of the
past. Just like the great artists, tattoo artists and body art painters must have a keen eye for detail,
skilled hands, and incredible vision. It takes incredible precision to paint on a living, breathing
human being compared to painting on an inanimate object such as paper or canvas. Tattooing
leaves very little or no room for error. Moreover, tattoos cannot just be shoved into a closet when
they become tiresome to their owner.
Some think that body art painting is not as valid an art form as painting and sculpture, and that
body art artists should not be compared to the great painting masters. Nonetheless, they do have one
thing in common: a relationship with the subject. Illustrious painters hold a relationship with

An oxymoron appeared to exist between Darwin s theory of natural selection (1859) and the
definition of altruism (West et al., 2006). Hamilton s theory of inclusive fitness (1964) appeared to
mediate this problem. However, the theory does not explain altruistic acts towards non kin in line
with natural selection. Reciprocal altruism(Trivers, 1971), indirect altruism (Alexander, 1987) and
strong reciprocity (Gintis, 2000) have been proposed to resolve this conflict. It is of note that
behaviour in all theories has been noted in animals, but will not be discussed further. Instead, the
essay will focus on which theories are most relevant when understanding human sociality, with the
author explaining why no sole theory is seen to describe the phenomenon. All theories will be
discussed in relation to evolutionary stable strategies (ESS), which refers to plans that when
adopted by a majority of members in a population that restrict any other action existing, which could
yield higher reproductive success (Smith Price, 1973).
Darwin s (1859) theory of natural selection hypothesised that individual s with traits that increased
their chance of survival would be more likely to reproduce. Such fitness enhancing genes would
thus be passed to their offspring, increasing the trait s frequency in a population. Altruism thus
appears to be an oxymoron to Darwin s (1859) theory. West et al. (2006) defined such social
behaviour that reduces an actor s fitness but increases the

Ergonomics Is A Scientific Discipline That Deals With...
Ergonomics is a scientific discipline that deals with the research and understanding between the
interaction of humans and other elements of a socio technical system. It involves conducting
research into human: social, psychological, physical and biological characteristics, and using this
information to optimize human performance, safety, habitability and health with regard to the
design and evaluation of tasks, products, environments and jobs in a performance system (James H.
and Stramler, 1993) to make them compatible with humans abilities, needs and limitations. The
ergonomics discipline promotes a human centered and holistic approach to system design, which

According to Carroll (cognitive view), there are two aspects of system design (Carroll, 1991).
The first is the process of the design. Ergonomists want to determine how it is that people devise
new systems, and what individual/group factors were involved in making all the decisions
involved in the construct of a system (Paul R. Martin, 2011). Secondly, design requires innovation,
and requires ergonomists to proactively supply empirical data for the future design of systems,
thus improving the levels of human performance and acceptance of new artefacts (Paul R. Martin,
2011). User centred design in technological innovation The concept of user centred design was
developed during the 1980 МЃs in the design of technologies (The Oxford Handbook of Cognitive
Engineering, 2013). The aim of user centred design is to describe how a human will interact
with a system from a cognitive science view. These characteristics will then be shared between
the cognitive ergonomists and engineers in the design process of new systems. Six important
aspects of technological system design (ticket machine): (1) Visibility This system is usually
placed in an area, which is crowded, and busy , thus it must be easily seen. People in crowded
placed are usually placed under stress. If the system isn t seen on first glance, the user will rather
go to the ticket desk. (2) Physical Design The look and shape

Driving Laws And Penalties For Teens
Becoming a teenager is all about transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Gaining more
privileges give teens freedom and responsibilities. Driving can be a deadly privilege if not taken
seriously. With more teens dying behind the wheel, changes need to be made. Driving laws and
penalties for teens should be drastically changed to prevent deaths and injuries. It is important to
try to stop this issue from the source before teens start to drive by themselves. According to
Huffington Post, one in five United States teens never took any form of driver s education courses
before getting their licenses. While going to driver s education isn t mandatory in all states, it can
still help improve teens driving, says Road Safety Authority. Also, while at driver s education
teens can learn new techniques such as defensive driving from a professional. Making driver s
education mandatory in all states can help teens be safe and skilled drivers. Not only does every
state need to make this mandatory, but driver s education courses need to be made free.
Another way to prevent teen accidents from the very start is more practice time. Surprisingly, the
greatest lifetime chance of crashing occurs in the first 6 months after licensure, says Teen Driver
Source. From looking at this statistic, teens need more time with having their permit before getting
their license. Practicing more with an adult by a teen s side can help prepare them better for
driving with their new license. It needs to

The Effects Of Seismic Surveys On Fauna
The present study monitored the direct and indirect Impacts of seismic surveys on fauna of the
mangrove using Birds Insects, Crabs, Reptiles and fishes as representative taxa. During the 3D
seismic survey, tools, labour and machineries were used inside the mangrove forests. Major sources
of faunal impacts observed during the seismic survey operations were from, 1) Physical presence
and movement of the labour and machinery within the forest and 2) Noise and vibration generated
from shooting (underground explosions). There are four major steps involved in the seismic
surveys, that result in disturbances to the system such as initial survey of the area, laying of cables
and geophones, shot hole drilling, and seismic wave generation through underground explosion
(underground explosion). Many elements of mangrovefauna were observed to be disturbed due to
these exploration process especially people interference.
Impacts on Mangrove fauna
There are many direct short term impacts on mangrove fauna from 3D seismic survey as
observed in the field. These temporary effects had mostly short term impacts since the survey
normally lasted only for few days in any given area. Faunal impacts of prospecting exploration
activities through 3D seismic data acquisition can be categorized broadly into two; direct and
indirect impacts. Direct impacts include changes in activity patterns of mangrove fauna especially
birds and crabs in response to the 3D seismic survey activity. Indirect impacts to

Why People Should Participate In Track And Field
Physical activity partakes an importance in our lives, and a simple way to get active is to join a
sport. Many people do not consider themselves to be athletic, but with a sport like Track and
Field one does not have to be because it can be recreational or competitive. Therefore; people
should participate in Track and Field because it involves a variety of events for different strengths.
Track and Field contains multiple events. The sport divides into four main skills which include
sprinting, pacing , jumping, and throwing. This gives anyone the opportunity to figure out what
events fit their strengths. People who can sprint, for example, could do the 100m dash (a quarter
of the track), 200m (half a lap), or 400m run (one lap). The long jump, triple jump, pole vault or
high jump are events for people who can jump well. The long jump and triple jump involve
running a certain distance and then jumping at a certain point into a sand pit, however, the triple
jump challenges the individual with a hop , skip, and then jump into the pit . High jump requires
upper body strength to hoist oneself over the bar to achieve a certain height. Pole vault compares
to high jump, but a pole used to reach heights above 10ft. If a certain individual enjoys ... Show

For those who rather not run at all, but have the upper body strength to throw objects, events such
as javelin throw, shot put, and discus throw could interest them. Track and Field can also be a
team sport. Relays are created for many events to give each team a chance to put their best runners
or throwers together to compete. For a running event, a baton gets passed between each player after
their respective distance finishes. Field events do their individual throws or jumps and then add the
distances together to see who reached the highest

Beowulf Analytical Essay
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is
always evil. Ayn Rand. To fully understand the complex world and culture of the Anglo Saxons,
one must examine the only form of historical evidence available texts. One particular great work
from this time period is often underrated and overshadowed in modern society by many other
ancient works such as Iliad or Oedipus Rex. The epic poem, Beowulf, was sung by multiple
unknown Anglo Saxon poets four centuries before the Norman Conquest. The theme of good

Grendel s invasion of Herot symbolizes the destruction of peace and safety, and the
imperfections within the society. The twelve years Grendel had haunted Herot, Herot stood
empty, and stayed deserted for years (145 146) were also the twelve years Hrothgar and his
kingdom suffered. Nevertheless, when Beowulf finally eliminated Grendel, readers see a
different side of Herot, Golden tapestries were lined along the walls, for a host of visitors to see
and take pleasure in (995 996), the glory and grandeur was restored, all with the slaying of
Grendel an outcast of society. The rigid and confined society of the Danes also shaped the way
its people think and act, but also influenced greatly on the writings. Given the fact that
metaphors and kennings are common in Old English literature; the representation of evil is also
something not to be taken on a literal level. Edgetho had begun a bitter feud / Killing Hathlaf, a
Wulfing warrior (459 460), inter tribal feuds, therefore, are also a destroyer of peace. Grendel
takes on a form that is left uncertain; its real meaning hidden behind the metaphorical mask of a
monster, is the never ending battles between tribal armies (namely, the Danes, Geats, Frisians, and
the Swedes) that had disturbed the tranquility people had longed for. It is almost a barrier of
peacekeeping, hider of hope. Hence, it is represented by Grendel, a great evil hated by many, whom

Medicinal Validity of Cannabis
Cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, is a hemp plant that originated from Asia. At first sight
of the plant it looks quite bizarre and unusual. Cannabis can grow up to twenty feet tall with at
least five leaflets that have sharp teeth like edges. Although the leaflets make the plant appear
unappealing, the flower gives off a different message with its vibrant colors, ranging from light
green to dark purple. Before any part of the cannabiscan be absorbed into the human body it must
first go through a process called curing. Curing is the process of drying out the leaves and flowers
of the plant. Once absorbed into the body, you get a sudden feeling of relaxation and happiness,
medically known as euphoria. The use of cannabis has been... Show more content on

Marijuana contains more than 460 active chemicals and over 60 unique cannabinoids (Seamon et
al. 1037 1044). Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds within the cannabis such as, THC (delta
9 tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). These two chemical compounds are responsible
for more the majority of the active effects of marijuana. THC is more active in cannabis than
CBD; it is responsible for the antiemetic affects and pain relief. THC is also the reason you get that
high feeling that comes after digesting the cannabis.
The last five years have shown a remarkable increase in publications on cannabidiol mainly
stimulated by the discovery of its anti inflammatory, anti oxidative and neuroprotective effects.
These studies have suggested a wide range of possible therapeutic effects of cannabidiol on several
conditions, including Parkinson s disease, Alzheimer s disease, cerebral ischemia, diabetes,
rheumatoid arthritis, other inflammatory diseases, nausea and cancer (Zuardi).
Although users do not know how it works once in your body the cannabis is for anyone diagnosed
with those illnesses or pains to anyone in those legalized (medical cannabis) states. Although
cannabis does not compare to the harm of tobacco smoke, it still has some harms such as acquiring
wheezing, coughing and bronchitis. But with a small transition of eating it or using a vaporizer,
you eliminate all those undesired health risks. A vaporizer gives you all the vapor of the

Misogynistic Perspective In Lolita
Vladimir Nabokov s provocative novel, Lolita, chronicles literature professor Humbert Humbert s
spiral into madness following his perverse infatuation with his landlady s daughter. This novel
was published in 1955 during the post war period in America, whereby women were forced out of
professional roles in order to undertake domestic duties. Nabokov was likely influenced to explore
the male dominant attitudes of this time through his construction of Humbert s misogynistic
perspective. On trial for murder, Humbert narrates this novel from his jail cell. As Humbert
becomes the guardian of twelve year old Dolores Haze following her mother s death, he takes this
as an opportunity to fulfil his lustful desires and sexually exploit her.... Show more content on

The primary difference between these two streams of feminism is how much respect [each

Additionally, the deconstructionist notion of breaking down a text into its constituent differences
will be employed as part of the methodology to apply these theories. As the novel has presented the
challenge of an unreliable narrator, it may initially be hard for me to refrain from interpreting the
text through a psychoanalytical perspective. However, my experience with principles of
Deconstruction should assist me in analysing the text and formulating a feminist reading to
advance the current understanding of the novel.
To begin, in order to generate a traditional feminist reading of Lolita, an alternate reading must be
identified by applying deconstructive principles to the text. Deconstruction is based upon Jacques
Derrida s strategies of exposing the instability of a text s meaning, aiming to show how texts come
to embarrass their own ruling systems of logic. Deconstruction rose to prominence in the late 1960s
and is associated with the post structuralist movement of this time. This movement came about
amidst the rejection of structuralist ideals, particularly regarding the fixity of the relationship
between the signifier and signified, by philosophers such as Michel Foucault and Louis Althusser.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Opioid Therapy
Introduction
In the United States alone it has been estimated that nearly 50 million people suffer from chronic
pain. However, chronic pain continues to be undermanaged with as many as 41% of patients
reporting uncontrolled pain 1. Poor pain management outcomes are due in large part to a lack of a
pharmacological intervention that is both efficacious for moderate to severe chronic pain and widely
tolerable. Currently, the most efficacious treatment for moderate to severe chronic pain is the use
of opioid agonists. Despite the efficacy of opioid therapy, in one survey 68% of physicians cited
concerns about adverse events as a barrier to prescription of opioids for the maintenance of chronic
pain1. Systemically delivered opioid agonists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brief review will focus on one such drug, tapentadol, and how a unique mechanism of action
may provide similar analgesia to classical opioids with a more tolerable adverse event profile.
Tapentadol: a novel therapeutic with a unique mechanism of action
Tapentadol has a unique dual mechanism of action; acting not only as an agonist at Ој opioid
receptors but additionally acting to inhibit norepinephrine reuptake1. Previous studies using
preclinical models have shown that the addition of norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors can
supplement the analgesic potential of morphine2. Consistently, preclinical studies of tapentadol
have shown analgesic efficacy that is comparable to morphine with a 50 fold decrease in binding
affinity to Ој opioid receptors1. The ability of tapentadol to produce analgesia similar to that seen
with classical opioids with considerably lower binding affinity for Вµ opioid receptors at off target
sites suggests that tapentadol treatment could provide effective pain management while limiting
adverse events.
Clinical efficacy of tapentadol for chronic pain management
The etiology of chronic pain is complex and may be due to a number of different factors. Current
therapeutics often fail to produce adequate analgesia for moderate to severe pain

The Pros And Cons Of Vaccines
Vaccines are safe to the human body although there are dangerous and concerning ingredients. the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) carefully monitors and tests the ingredients to
ensure the safest vaccine. The ingredients in vaccines are tested to be safe in the quantities used. As
reported by the CDC, vaccineingredients such as thimerosal, formaldehyde, and aluminum can
harm one only in large amounts of doses (Vaccines and Immunizations). The CDC notes that,
people are exposed to more bacteria, viruses, toxins, and other harmful substances in one day of
normal activity than are in vaccines (Vaccines and Immunizations). Discussing the concerns of the
public about the ingredients, the CDC commented, [t]he FDA requires up to 10 or more years of
testing for all vaccines before they are licensed, and then they are monitored by the CDC and the
FDA to make sure the vaccines and the ingredients used in the vaccines are safe (Should Vaccines
Be Required). Vaccines are tested to the highest standard of safety. They are carefully evaluated
with the help of many programs to reassure safety. Raised concerns about certain ingredients in
vaccines have caused some people to oppose against immunizations. Thimerosal, which holds
ethylmercury, is one of the main concerns. According to Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection,
Thimerosal is a preservative that can prevent harmful bacteria to thrive in (Vaccines). Although
thimerosal is known to leave the body quickly, some

As time progressed, the equipment that was used for scuba diving began to be perfected, and
many workout clubs began featuring classes to train people how to dive (Ed LaRochelle, 2009).
This allowed scuba diving to become a leisure activity that anyone could engage in (Ed
LaRochelle, 2009). Jacques Cousteau was a famous scuba diver who made many discoveries,
including many new innovative tools and equipment such as the aquatic lung (Ryan Spence,
2010). He also produced over 100 television episodes discussing the different aspects of scuba
diving along with his new inventions (Ryan Spence, 2010). Sylvia Earle was another
recognizable person in the field of scuba diving (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). She was a famous
figure because she was the first person ever to dive to two hundred and fifty feet breathing
compressed air in a Jim Suit, and she broke many records for deepest dives in submersibles (Sue
Vander Hook, 2001). Thirdly, Augustus Siebe created a diving suit that included a copper helmet
and rubber material for a more flexible suit (John Bantin, 2007). This invention by Siebe allowed
divers to dive to deeper depths into the ocean and explore more wrecks and ocean features (John
Bantin, 2007). Jacques Cousteau once said, Innovation is nothing more than the tool of the
explorer... If you need something, you make it (Ryan Spence, 2010: 12). These explorers helped

  • 2. The Beatles Band You may say I m a dreamer, but I m not the only one. I hope someday you ll join us. And the world will live as one. ― John Lennon. In the 1960 s there weren t many big, popular boy bands. The Beatles were one of the first boy bands that have gotten popular. During the 1960 s the Beatles were the best boy band worldwide. The Beatles created a pathway to all the boy bands now /and/ in the future. The Beatles didn t start always start up as the band there are know they had different members at the time. (Not the members that they have now. A.K.A John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr , George Harrison, Pete Best, and Stuart Sutcliffe) To start off, Lennon was 16 years old he created a skiffle group with a lot of his high school friends. ( The Beatles ) John Lennon was only 16 when he started a high school band that later on became a big success. Secondly, The fifteen year old George Harrison auditioned for Lennon, impressing him with his playing, but a little after he performed the lead guitar part for the instrumental Raunchy on the upper deck of a Liverpool bus,and they enlisted him as their lead guitarist. By January 1959, Lennon s Quarry Bank friends had left the group ( The Beatles ) Most of the people that joined Lennon s high school band didn t stay with the band for a long period of time like George Harrison he wasn t with them for a long time, he left the band soon after Lennon made him the band s lead guitarist. • 3. The Effects Of Fast Food On Americans Sitting At A Blue... An apple red roof glinting in the sun attached to a pale building, about the color of an English tourist in the Caribbean. If you look lower, you can see the effect of fast food on Americans sitting at a blue bus stop. So far this area is very diverse. The sky is about as blue as my suffocating aunt when she was born unable to breath (if you re at all concerned, don t worry, she s fine). No, this is not a metaphor or mirroring of the blue bus stop. The bus stop is blue. The sky is blue. Get over it. Now, in the window of this establishment (as a personal preference, I ask that when you read this you say it in the most pompous voice you can, I promise it ads character), as we will call it for now, is a sign confidently proclaiming the existence of a double cheeseburger for only one dollar, and an OPEN 24 HOURS sign!! Yes, dear reader, you have entered the realm where you too can get fat for only one dollar and three in the morning after a fifth of vodka (I swear I am not speaking from personal experience). Brooooooooo that s like all day! a homeless man shouts as he ogles the sign with wide eyes. Yes bro that is all day, because that makes them more money when the drunks come in after the bars close and accidentally spend five hundred dollars on milkshakes (again not personal experience). What is the name of this fabulous place, you might ask? Well, let s look at their sign. BIG cursive white lettering, I assume, to give it a fancy air (which is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alice Walker There are many fears in the world, for one animals are afraid of us. They probably think that we humans would hurt them. And they re actually right, we use them for clothes, food, transportation and entertainment. For me, these are really good valid reasons to be afraid. Throughout the years, there have been many adjustment in how to treat animals, which include animalrights.People shouldn t abuse the power of an animal in its habitat, especially if it is not in its unoriginal habitat. Not only is it missing out on having a natural environment, but also it does not know how to communicate... However, the park instead chooses to stick with the same inhumane business model that it has used for 50 years, despite all the violent and deadly incidents and evidence of harm. In an article by the Huffington Post by Brianna Elliott, it gives a viewpoint on how some people treat animals like objects and not human beings which means, as humans sometimes we forget how to deal with situations as so. Also, to prove that a picture is enough to see how some animals deaths go unnoticed. ( 1). In addition, fewer than 5% to 10% of zoos and aquaria are involved in substantial conservation programs. The amount spent on these programs is a mere fraction of the income generated by the facilities. Simply exhibiting wildlife is not considered conservation. At least 134 orcas (killer whales) have been taken into captivity from the wild since 1961. One hundred and three (77%) are now dead (WDCS, 1999).While this information may be correct, no conclusions can be derived from this since no timing details are given which would allow the calculation of animal days or years. First off, some aquatic animals, such as Wild orcas and dolphins live in large, complex social groups and swim vast distances every day in the open ocean. In captivity, these ... • 5. Similarities Between Land And Landscape In Gil Paris PEOPLE AND LANDSCAPE. The relationship existing between society, land and landscape is complex. People s attitudes continuously reflect in their behavior, notably patterns of consumption via existing recreational activities, as well as in their expressed preferences. Society attaches great significance to land. As evident in the movie Midnight in Paris, Gil Pender an American Screenwriter falls in love with the Paris landscape while he visits his fiancГ©e. He has possession of the idea of 1920s, Paris and all the artists that lived there at the time. Their attitudes are shaped by various different factors. Some of the factors include Age, both economic and social status, their ethnic origin, the familiarity of the place or residence, whether rural or urban. All this factors are significant when determining environmental relationships. Journeys are cconsidered as the midwives of thoughts that people tend to have. Moreover, places always pose as being conducive to the existing internal conversations unlike moving ships, trains or planes. A correlation exists between the things we have ability to see and the thoughts we develop in our minds. It is because large thoughts may require larger views while new thoughts require new places. • 6. Character Analysis Of Napolewell And The Animal Farm Mr. Jones Mr. Jones was the original owner of the farm whose rule ended when the animals rebelled. His character symbolizes that of the ruler of Russia prior to the revolution, Tsar Nicholas II, who resigned from the throne due to unrest in the people. Prior to the animal rebellion, Jones had lost money due to a lawsuit and his farm suffered, his men were idle and dishonest, the fields were full of weeds...and the animals were underfed (38). This was the breaking point that finally led the animals to rebel. Correspondingly, the immediate cause towards Nicholas II s abdication were food shortages (the driving force of the February Revolution). Napoleon After Jones was out of the way, Snowball and Napoleon became the two disagreeing leaders. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, although he wasn t the immediate next leader of Russia after Tsar Nicholas II was overthrown. Just as how Napoleon executed animals who were a threat and the air was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown since the expulsion of Mr. Jones (Nicholas II was given the name Nicholas the Bloody), Joseph Stalin had his reign of terror called the Great Purge (93) where he executed many of his own people whom he believed were against him. Another striking similarity was when Napoleon agreed to cooperate with Frederick, selling him the pile of timber, and assured the animals that the stories of an impending attack on Animal Farm were completely untrue (105). However, Frederick did eventually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compare And Contrast The Frames Of Political Parties Political parties are a mainstay of American political discourse and an alliance of people who strive for the same goals in government. They compete against each other to fulfill their policies and to have political power. The Framers of the Constitution had a fear for political parties, or political factions as they would go against the ideology in which the Framer s set forth in the Constitution. The republican ideals that formed our way of government called for politics that were inclusive and for the public good; politics that were collaborative. The Constitution calls for compromise in order to achieve success in government. The Constitution also has two clauses which would lead to huge debacles should major political factions arise. The necessary and proper clause and general welfare clause posed this threat. Many Framers believed that this may be too broad and that interpretations would be very different by different people. This when coupled by the natural instinct would lead to political factions being founded on these ideas. The faction that would determine what these meant would be the party in control of the government. But this is what the framers feared. Should a faction attain a majority and determine what these two clauses meant, it would ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spectrophotometer Lab: Length: 1437 words (4.1 double spaced pages) Rating: Red (FREE) Spectrophotometer Lab Introduction: A spectrophotometer is an instrument that measures the quantitative amounts of light of different wavelengths absorbed and transmitted by a pigment solution (Mitchell, Reece). The spectrophotometer includes a light bulb, a reflector, and a detector. When a sample is in place and the chamber lid is closed, light from the light bulb passes through it. The detector measures the amount of light transmitted. The white light from the bulb is separated into different wavelengths by reflecting the beam off of a diffraction grating, forming a ... • 12. The Daphnia Magna Experiment Plant compounds play a very important role in the defense of plants and in this experiment the plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava were tested on Daphnia magna to test if there was a change in heartbeat of the organism. The purpose of the experiment was to see how these compounds affected the Daphnia magna. The t values for both the caffeine and Kava kava were calculated to be 1.82 and 1.62, which were both smaller than the obtained t critical value of 2.57. A conclusion was drawn that there was no statistically significant difference in heart rate after the plant defensecompounds of caffeine and Kava kava were added compared to before they were added. Introduction: In this experiment two plant defensive compounds, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their bodies are encased by an uncalcified shell, carapace, and they can reach lengths of 5mm with a kidney bean shape (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna live in mostly freshwater environments, but can live in certain brackish water areas. In comparing males and females the males have smaller body sizes, larger antennas a modified post abdomen (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna are good test subjects to assess the effects of the plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava, as they are easy to care for, inexpensive, and the effects of the compound are easily noted through looking at the heart rate of the organism under a microscope. This experiment required the use of a two tailed t test to determine whether there was a difference in heart of the Daphnia magna before and after the plant defensive compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were introduced. This test also helps to see if the difference in the test is statistically significant, which determines if the results obtained occurred by chance. A t value is obtained to get the probability value and as the t value increases it signifies a larger meaningful difference between the two groups (Blanar, 2017) and as it decreases the opposite happens. If a t value is smaller than the t critical value the null hypothesis is accepted, but if the obtained t value is larger than the t critical value the null hypothesis is rejected. A p value is also important for this experiment, as it is the probability the null hypothesis is correct. The null hypothesis for this experiment was that there was no difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared to before, while the alternative hypothesis generated was that there is a difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared ... • 13. Relationship Between Tian And Human The relationship between Tian and human When it comes to Tian , most Chinese people regard it as nature or heaven, but there are much more different cognition advocated by traditional Chinese philosophers. For instance, Mencius believes that Heaven is an absolute ruler and it is the destiny, which human is unable to change in any case. (A.T.Nuyen 2013) On the contrary, Xun zi thinks that nature runs automatically and regularly. In order to live a life of happiness and richness, people are supposed to actively make an efficient use of it. (Chan 1963) Apart from these two concept mentioned above, Zhuang zi put forward another completely different idea. (A.T.Nuyen 2013) During the Warring States period, people did not have other choices but follow what heaven managed for them as they were asked, and they were also told not to change anything. No matter what kind of unfair things they were suffering, they were convinced to follow the fate because that was heaven s word. Although both of Mencius and Xun zi acquired knowledge from Confucian school, they were not in agreement on Tian . In Spring and Autumn period, Xun zi held the opinion that heaven ran regularly and it did not exist or cease to exist for the sake of anybody. (Chan 1963) What s more, Xun zi thought that human could try to analyzing the regularity of heaven. Once people mastered it, they would gain greatly. They could play an active role in their live and make a use of the regularity for the benefit of human beings. (Janghee 2005) Compared to Mencius and Xun zi, Zhuang zi has a totally different idea about Tian . Zhuang zi thinks that heaven and human, as well as Dao are interlinked. To some degree, they roll into one. And there is an interesting story about Zhuang zi. One day he had a dream of himself becoming a butterfly and when he woke up, he could not figure out whether the butterfly dreamed about him or he dreamed about a butterfly. What Zhuang zi really wants to tell us through this story is that human is supposed to live with nature peacefully and harmoniously. (Yao 2013) What is more, I think it ... • 14. Unconscious Mind In Frankenstein The notion that human beings are motivated, even driven, by desires, fears, needs, and conflicts of which they are unaware (Tyson 12). Life is driven by desires, fears, needs, and conflicts that are stored in the unconscious. The unconscious is the control center of the mind, and it decides whether or not certain memories can be tolerated. If the unconscious determines that a memory can t be handled, two things can happen: repression of memories or modification of memories. Whereas memory is the storage of events, perception is the live viewing of those events. Selective perception is hearing and seeing only what we feel we can handle (Tyson 15). These tactics of the unconscious mindcan be found in Shelley s Frankenstein. Victor s unconscious mind alters or represses memories and perceptions changing the way his mind functions, throughout the novel. While creating both monsters, Victor s unconscious mind feels that he can t handle death; he is still not over the death of his mother. His inability to move on from the death of his mother, is the reason for the creation of the monster. Victor s traumatic experience with death cause him to selectively modify the consequences that come from the creation of the monster. The traumatic experience with death is early on in the novel. In chapter 3 Victor s mother Caroline dies of Scarlet Fever which she contracted from Elizabeth. This experience changes Victor permanently, he becomes obsessed with bringing her back to life. ... • 15. Why Math Is Important For Teaching Mathematics And How... Math Philosophy Paper Math is developing concepts or standards that s important for teaching mathematics to students from Pre K to high school. In our changing world, those who understand and can do mathematics will have significant opportunities and options for shaping their future. (NCTM 2000, p.50). The two important tools to be an effective teacher is knowledge of mathematics and how students learn mathematics. The purposes of math educationeffect our life since the time we were able to walk. We were taught how to count on our fingers to being able to write our numbers to ten. Then as we got older, concepts were more challenging and involved critical thinking to solve the problems. In society today, math is being utilized in simple to complex avenues such as grocery shopping, measuring, budgeting, investments, architecture, science and technology to name a few. If we take a look around our environment signs, buildings, bridges, streets and just the different patterns and shapes all relate back to mathematics. My role as a math teacher in the classroom would be creating an inviting math environment for my students, being able to explain math to all my students in ways that they understand and model math in an effective way. I want to be a leader, share my knowledge, engage and challenge my students, support them, respect them, be positive and keep them interested in math. • 16. Writing An Article On Wikipedia Essay Despite the popular belief, writing an article on Wikipedia is subject to several rules. For example, before creating a page for a new article and a new topic, you have to make sure that the subject you tackled is either popular enough or old enough to be published. Yet there are some exceptions to this rule. It is the case for sudden events such as November 2015 Paris attacks that took place few days ago but already have a Wikipedia page.i Notability is not the only criterion to take into account before knowing if your article can be published or not. You also have to follow some basic rules such as avoiding plagiarism or always cite your sources at the end of the article. Moreover as an author you have to remain as neutral as possible. One of Wikipedia s goal is to provide information without any biased point of view or personal statement. Maybe the two most important and famous pillars of Wikipedia are the fact that it is free to use and licence free. Anyone can publish, edit or use a Wikipedia article as long as one follows the rules mentioned earlier.ii Without a doubt, Wikipedia is a website that you can use from time to time to find some pieces of information about various subjects. Since it is an open website it covers a very wide spectrum of topics. One of the drawbacks of it being open is that its content is not 100% reliable. That is the reason why to write an essay it is better to avoid the use of this website. However some parts of articles cannot be edited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Music And Music Therapy Music is present in our everyday lives, in many different forms, yet we are oblivious to its therapeutic values. Individuals with mental illnesses have hardships that they face daily. Patients will mental illnesses may use music therapy to improve the extremity of their mood swings and ultimately, their way of life. What is music therapy? Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health (Ulbricht, PsychologyToday). Since the beginning of time, music therapy has been documented in multiple ways. In the Old Testament of the Bible, David was found comforting Saul with his harp. Also, Plato and Aristotle both wrote of the virtues of music to calm and soothe, as well as for stimulation and motivation. On the contrary, music therapy wasn t a professional discipline in the United States until the 1940s. In the 21st century, it has broadened even further and is used in diverse areas of medicine, such as cancer, palliative and pain control for surgical patients. Even with countless experiments and evidence, there are plenty of people that are still suspicious of the therapeutic benefits of music. As a result of this, music has been found as one of the least funded activities in schools and universities. One of the biggest areas that music needs to be referred to is mental illnesses. • 21. Conflict in Daniel Ridgway KnightВґs Paintings Daniel Ridgway Knight was an odd American artist who loved to paint relaxed French peasants in luscious landscapes. Ironically, he lived during a stressful time when the Industrial Revolution displaced numerous farmers and polluted the environment. He seemed to ignore the harsh truth and shut himself in his imaginary serene world. For instance, In the Premier Chagrin, translated as The First Grief, Knight paints two healthy girls conversing on a stonewall in front of gorgeous fields. At first, it appears as merely a pretty painting that is nicely contrasted to show depth and realism. Yet, with a closer look, this contrast in the colors and lines of the landscape and the figures creates tension to suggest the painter s conflict between longing for serene freedom and feeling trapped within the stiff society. Though the viewers focus first on the centered figures, it is easier to first analyze the surrounding settings to understand them. The stone wall foreground and the open fields of the background each embodies one of the girl s thoughts. The back landscape is filled with warm, airy colors of blue and orange, as if it were under a bright sun. On the other hand, the foreground s stone wallsand concrete floor has dark, cold, shadowy, earthy colors that seem to appear as if under a stormy cloud. The sunny land suggests free, pure, spacious land previous to the industrialization. Yet, the darkened foreground due to the overcasting shadows resemble the currently dirty, ... • 24. Romeo And Juliet Tragic Love Character Analysis Superficial Romance: The Tragic Love Story of Romeo and Juliet During the Elizabethan era, the sole job of people was to marry and have children to carry on the lineage of one s family. Many individuals married into families of higher status to raise their own status, and were also married for their beauty, which was thought to continue through their descendants. The love that was felt at the time was, in most cases, based on these outer attributes rather than internal ones such as personality. The practice of loving for appearances is clearly expressed in the drama, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, where two opposing families, the Capulets and the Montagues, coexist in the town of Verona. Romeo, from the house of the Montagues, is infatuated with Rosaline for her beauty, but his feelings for her immediately disappear when Romeo sees the far more beautiful Juliet, daughter of the Capulets. When they meet, Romeo s feelings are requited by Juliet, who then no longer wants to accept the arranged marriage with her suitor, Paris. The romantic love among Romeo, Rosaline, Juliet, and Paris, as well as the expectations Juliet s family has for her love is highly superficial, revealing that these characters value their loved ones for their external appearances, rather than who they are on the inside. Romeo s love for Juliet is unreliable and overexaggerated. In a short summary of recent events, the Chorus states that now old desire doth in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time, especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin Luther and the growing Protestant movement. From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. Research has shown that some species can occupy a keystone role, providing disproportionately great benefits to the ecosystem and its inhabitants, highlighting their importance to stability and biodiversity (Hooper et al., 2005; Hossack et al., 2015). However, keystone predation is still a contentious topic, especially when asserting that apex predators of most ecosystems provide their own incredible ecosystem influences (Estes et al., 2011). This study aims to analyze the importance of the tertiary predator Puma concolor (Mountain Lion), an organism not known for a significant keystone relationship with Mendocino landscapes. This study will look at predator prey interactions and frequency, and abiotic dependencies on prey behavior, all within two Mendocino habitats with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their presence, and often the mere possibility of it, induces behavioral changes in prey that limit how much said organisms forage and reproduce. Ultimately, production of this so called landscape of fear limits prey populations, along with direct predation (William et al., 2014). These types of indirect effects are also manifested by humans, and have strong behavioral implications for apex predators. Studies show that mountain lion prefer to perform reproductive behaviors, like communication and denning, much further from human development than they do more regular behaviors, like feeding (Wilmers et al., 2013). Human encroachment has a significant behavioral consequence for these creatures. So, in order to maintain the keystone benefits of an apex predator, both their populations and home ranges may require often disregarded protections (Hannah, Midgley, Millar, 2002; Wilmers et al., ... • 38. Tattoos And Body Art There were many different forms of body art that was shown in the documentary. In the culture there are the bandag s, the markings that they have, and Tattoos and body art painting is an art movement in its own right. It is getting to the point that having an original tattoo done by a famed tattoo artist is as coveted as owning an original artwork done by one of the painting masters. People will proudly show off and boast of their ink as if they are showing a Da Vinci, Picasso or Monet. However, they rarely brag about its uniqueness or cost; they would rather rattle off the amount of hours it took to complete and the inspiration and personal meaning behind it. Due to body art s current popularity, tattoo artists are being likened to the painting masters of the past. Just like the great artists, tattoo artists and body art painters must have a keen eye for detail, skilled hands, and incredible vision. It takes incredible precision to paint on a living, breathing human being compared to painting on an inanimate object such as paper or canvas. Tattooing leaves very little or no room for error. Moreover, tattoos cannot just be shoved into a closet when they become tiresome to their owner. Some think that body art painting is not as valid an art form as painting and sculpture, and that body art artists should not be compared to the great painting masters. • 41. The Theory Of Inclusive Fitness An oxymoron appeared to exist between Darwin s theory of natural selection (1859) and the definition of altruism (West et al., 2006). Hamilton s theory of inclusive fitness (1964) appeared to mediate this problem. However, the theory does not explain altruistic acts towards non kin in line with natural selection. Reciprocal altruism(Trivers, 1971), indirect altruism (Alexander, 1987) and strong reciprocity (Gintis, 2000) have been proposed to resolve this conflict. It is of note that behaviour in all theories has been noted in animals, but will not be discussed further. Instead, the essay will focus on which theories are most relevant when understanding human sociality, with the author explaining why no sole theory is seen to describe the phenomenon. All theories will be discussed in relation to evolutionary stable strategies (ESS), which refers to plans that when adopted by a majority of members in a population that restrict any other action existing, which could yield higher reproductive success (Smith Price, 1973). Darwin s (1859) theory of natural selection hypothesised that individual s with traits that increased their chance of survival would be more likely to reproduce. Such fitness enhancing genes would thus be passed to their offspring, increasing the trait s frequency in a population. Altruism thus appears to be an oxymoron to Darwin s (1859) theory. West et al. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Carroll (cognitive view), there are two aspects of system design (Carroll, 1991). The first is the process of the design. Ergonomists want to determine how it is that people devise new systems, and what individual/group factors were involved in making all the decisions involved in the construct of a system (Paul R. Martin, 2011). Secondly, design requires innovation, and requires ergonomists to proactively supply empirical data for the future design of systems, thus improving the levels of human performance and acceptance of new artefacts (Paul R. Martin, 2011). User centred design in technological innovation The concept of user centred design was developed during the 1980 МЃs in the design of technologies (The Oxford Handbook of Cognitive Engineering, 2013). The aim of user centred design is to describe how a human will interact with a system from a cognitive science view. These characteristics will then be shared between the cognitive ergonomists and engineers in the design process of new systems. Six important aspects of technological system design (ticket machine): (1) Visibility This system is usually placed in an area, which is crowded, and busy , thus it must be easily seen. During the 3D seismic survey, tools, labour and machineries were used inside the mangrove forests. Major sources of faunal impacts observed during the seismic survey operations were from, 1) Physical presence and movement of the labour and machinery within the forest and 2) Noise and vibration generated from shooting (underground explosions). There are four major steps involved in the seismic surveys, that result in disturbances to the system such as initial survey of the area, laying of cables and geophones, shot hole drilling, and seismic wave generation through underground explosion (underground explosion).
