Catalase Experiment
Discussion: According to the experiment, the highest reaction rate occurred when the enzyme,
Catalase, was 50% concentrated (see Fig.3). However, all of the rates were fairly similar no matter
the concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration. That test resulted in no production of
Oxygen because there was no enzymefor the Hydrogen peroxideto react to so nothing occurred in
the testing container (see Fig. 1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from
0% concentration all produced very similar amounts of Oxygeneven though there was not as much
of the enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration. The water
took the place of a portion of the enzyme, or all of it, to keep a constant volume of enzyme mixture
and to see how changing the amount enzymes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used this information to form our hypothesis, which was that the 100% concentration test
would have the highest reaction rate because the more enzyme is the more active sites there are,
so more reactions can occur, and the the Hydrogen peroxide will be decomposed faster, giving it a
higher rate. However, the results of our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the
test that resulted in the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this
occurred. The sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear growth between
concentration and rate, which supports our hypothesis. Fig. 2 shows that the reaction rate plateaus
towards the end of the 50 seconds, but this is because of the limited and constant amount of
substrate, so it slowed down when the Hydrogen peroxide ran out. Our data did not support our
hypothesis, but the class source support our

Film Critique On The Deer Hunter Essay
Since 1968, there have been at least 25 films made that portray the events of the Vietnam War.
Historians have to ask themselves when watching these films, Did the fictional character
represent historical figures accurately? Is this how a soldier would react in this situation? The
point of view of the director of the film can change with simple alterations in camera angles. For
example, a view from the ground of a battle seen can show how the innocent people had the war in
their own backyards. The view from a helicopter can show Viet Cong firing rounds at American
troops and the troops can t tell the difference between the innocent and the enemy. The audience
feels empathy and sympathy for the person from whose point of view the... Show more content on

In fact, it did just the opposite. It showed the atrocities that occurred in the war and caused many
pro war advocates to question whether or not we should have been there in the first place.
However, it only showed atrocities done to American troops, but it didn t show atrocities that
American soldiers did to the Vietnamese. That didn t happen until the release of the 1986 film,
Platoon.
The whole film is based on a scene in the first third of the movie when Michael tells Nick that
you need to kill a buck with one shot. This is foreshadowing for the Russian roulette that they
were forced to play in the POW camp and at the end of the movie when Nick kills himself while
playing roulette. When asked about the roulette scenes Michael Cimino, the director of the
movie, said that he had only read about games of that nature in a newspaper report (After the
Fact, page 418). But no journalist confirmed ever reporting such tactics in the prison camps. So
one might suspect that these scenes, so powerful and the principle on which the film s symbolism
is based, may not have ever actually occurred in these camps, or at least so rarely that it could
hardly be portrayed as the general nature of games that the POWs were forced to play.
The Deer Hunter does not focus much on the actual war in the field of battle. The director simply
did not spend much of the movie in Vietnam. However, I thought the

Life Insurance Benefits
When it comes to the life settlement industry, the viatical settlement industry brought it to fruition.
The people who originally took out life insurance were those suffering from terminal illnesses
like AIDS and cancers who only may have had a few years or so to live. Those who sold their
insurance policies were looking for a way to get an immediate return in monetary value from
someone who had purchased the policy from them. When medical breakthroughs in the fight
against the AIDS virus took place, many seniors were left high and dry having to pay extremely
expensive insurance premiums on new policies. Many terrible companies also cheated many senior
citizens out of large sums of money by making fraudulent promises of further investment on... Show

When it comes to life insurance, attorneys, financial planners and trust officers are just a few of
the many people that you can talk to. These people are here to help you make a better choice
since they know all of the rules and regulations of the life settlement industry. The biggest part of
life settlements is gaining a large return on your policy. If you plan on doing this all by yourself,
this can be almost impossible. Standard market value is what many brokers are searching for
when it comes to the right life insurance. Brokers have the uncanny ability to acquire multiple
bids from different sellers that you otherwise might not be able to obtain. Getting the most value
for you policy means putting up one bid against the others. Many times, your medical history
must be given in order to secure a great bid. If you are looking for a quick way to make a large
sum of money late in your life, then life insruance might just be the right way to go. Issues like high
premiums, employment issues, medical issues and bankruptcy can all lead you toward life
settlement. While the concept of life settlement sounds great, you should still take the time to visit

Marriage Is The Sacrament Of The Church
Marriage is one of the sacraments of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church points out
that Christian marriage becomes an efficacious sign, the sacrament of the covenant of Christ and
the Church. An efficacious sign not only symbolizes or signifies something, but makes present what
it signifies. Marriagesignifies and makes present the love of Christ to the baptized spouses; a love
by which Christ formed the Church as his spouse.
The image of the relationship between bridegroom and bride used to explain the relationship
between Christ and the Church in the scriptures are appealing to a natural human relationship. The
Scripture however shows that Christ s love for the Church surpasses natural human love. Christ s
love for the Church is a love of complete self giving expressed in his death on the Cross. In this
same vain, Christian marriage too aspires not only for natural human love, but also to Christ s love
for the Church:

In addition, for marriages that are celebrated within the Latin Catholic Church, canonical form
requires, among other things, that an authorized bishop, priest, or deacon ask for and receive the
spouses consent as the Church s official witness of the marriage celebration. For marriages of
members of the Eastern Catholic Churches, the assistance and blessing of an authorized bishop or
priest is required. The Holy Spirit binds the spouses together through their exchange of promises in
a bond of love and fidelity unto death. Their marriage covenant becomes a participation in the
unbreakable covenant between Christ the Bridegroom and his Bride, the Church. The same love
that defines the Church now defines the communion between the two spouses: authentic married
love is caught up into divine love and is directed and enriched by the redemptive power of Christ

Antisocial Personality Disorder Analysis
People suffering from an antisocial personality disorder exhibit extreme disregard for and
violation of the rights of others (Kearney Trull, 2015, p. 296). Individuals with this disorder are
often reckless and impulsive when it comes to the safety of others and they lack remorse for the
harm they inflict (Kearney Trull, 2015, p. 296). Those suffering from this disorder seem as if they
do not care if they inflict harm to others and many with this disorder have criminal records. The
questions that arises from those suffering from this disorder is whether when they were inflicting
harm upon others did they at the time understand right from wrong and can they be held
accountable for their actions? Court systems state that in order

Although the movie is fictitious, there are boys who are living in America today that express
similar actions and attitudes to those expressed by Derek and Danny. The movie is not a far cry
from what is currently taking place in our society today.
Overview of the Movie
American History X tells a tragic story that focuses on two brothers, Derek and Danny Vinyard.
The movie begins with a startling flashback scene in which Danny interrupts his older brother
Derek and his girlfriend having sex to tell him that there is a black man outside trying to break
into Derek s car. Next we see Derek run outside and shoot and kill two African Americans and
attempt to kill another driving away. Derek is in his early twenties and Danny is 16 years old.
Danny witnesses the entire transaction.
In the next scene, it is the day Derek is released from prison, and Danny is in the principal s
office because he wrote a paper on Mien Kampf arguing for Hitler as an outstanding civil rights
activist. He is instructed by the principal, who is African American, to write another paper on his
older brother Derek. As the movie progresses, the viewer learns more about the lives of Danny
and Derek. Their father was a fireman who was killed by a black man while trying to put out a
fire in a black community. Derek and Danny live in an area of California that is run by violent
gangs. After his father is killed, Derek joins D.O.C., which is a Neo Nazi, white supremacist group.

Tensions In Shalamov s Through The Snow
Leaders aren t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work,
says Vince Lombardi (qtd. in Walter). Lombardi, a retired American football coach, dispels the
myth that leaders are born, but instead are the result of years of strenuous effort. As Lombardi
depicts, being a leader is not easy, but a difficult task for the beholder. This feeling creates tension
between the desire to become a leader and the difficulty of becoming one. Varlam Tikhonovich
Shalamov writes about these same tensions throughout his short story Through the Snow. He
compares the difficult tasks of a leader to that of someone treading through virgin snow in order to
clear a path (Shalamov 320). Varlam Shalamov states, My stories are... Show more content on

For a leader, it can be very difficult for them to influence their followers. Major Jacob W. Miller
states that there are three types of outcomes that can occur: resistance, compliance, and
commitment (Miller 214). The optimal outcome is commitment because the followers are willing
to give maximum effort in order to finish the order. The followers are likely to strive for
successful completion that exceeds standards (Miller 218). As seen in Through the Snow the
followers are committed to the task. They do not lackadaisically stroll through the snow, but
instead tramp down virgin snow, a place where man s foot has never trodden (Shalamov 320). The
hardest tension for a leader is when his followers turn against him. Andrei Sakharov, the leading
nuclear physicist during the development of the Soviet atomic bomb, was named the Hero of
Socialist Labor due to his work and leadership (Timmons). However, during his work, he developed
a deep awareness of the dangers of nuclear testing and the irreversible consequences of nuclear war
(Timmons). Therefore, he began to openly push for greater cooperation between the Soviet Union
and United States. Even though he had very few outspoken followers, he continued to push through
the tensions. Eventually, authorities exiled Sakharov to his house and kept under police
surveillance (Timmons). Nevertheless, he continued to strive for

Over the past 5 years or so, Microsoft has fallen behind with is world wide supremacy.
For example, even though Windows OS is still the #1 operating system, it no longer leads by the

Microsoft has made billions of dollars production of great products at a great price, but the

A Report on the BMW Group Essay
A Report on the BMW Group
Introduction
As a result of the increased demand of cars, the competition among car companies is becoming
intense. Although the market of car is the biggest growing market in the world, there are still some
companies who make cars failing year after year. However, there are some outstanding car
companies such as The BMW Group performing distinctly.
The history of BMW is one of ground breaking innovations and exceptional automobiles, including
motorcycles and aircraft engines. It has a history with people of vision and of pioneering creation
in the world of aviation engineering. Already we can begin to see that the BMW group is a well

The main driving force behind the decision of BMW to turn to globalization was competition from
global companies in Germany, the United States and Japan who are major competitors in the luxury
segment. The automobile industry is highly globalised with many major manufactures operating all
over the world. Automobiles built in one region are sold, with necessary changes, around the world.
The main force for global convergence was the virtual disappearance of the national manufactures
being squeezed out by the international giants and the standardization of markets across
international boundaries. Forced by international regulatory bodies at regional level and fuelled by
ever more intensive global communication.
Innovation
THE BMW Group, as one of the world s most innovative companies, shows that Germany still
leads the global field as a centre of innovation, says German Federal Minister Wolfgang Clement,
who is patron of the award.
BMW try to innovate new ways to stay ahead of their competitors. They designed a new
manufacturing plant where the cars would move down the assembly line on an independently
powered gantry. The new technology would produce sound waves so that collisions can be
avoided, thus reducing the need for more workers and also reducing the risk of unwanted accidents
in the plant.
The BMW Group is conducting research into systems that optimize the interaction between driver,

How to Satisfy Hunger with Home Cooking for Today
Home cooking offer dishes with exceptional taste and satisfaction. However, modern living often
leaves little time for cooking at home (National Restaurant Association, n.d.). Due to modernization
and adjustments in the lifestyles of many people, the means of complying with the demand of
satisfying their hunger has changed dramatically.
According to a research conducted by the National Restaurant Association (2013), about 33% of the
consumers say that spending in fast food restaurants is an indispensable part in their lifestyles. It is
for the reason that people in this fast phasing world prefer convenience foods that are served very
quickly more than the home cooked meals that take time to prepare. This trend is sustained through
the emergence of a prominent industry the fast food.
Fast food industry is perceived to be an American conception. It is said to first begin in the United
States of America in 1912 with the opening of a simple fast food restaurant called the Automat,
which serve foods and drinks through coin and bill operated vending machines.
The idea of this firm was soon followed and more popularized by the White Castle Restaurant in
Wichita, Kansas in 1916. An article entitled Fast Food (n.d.) said that fast food restaurants have
come a long way when Billy Ingram and Walter Anderson sold hamburgers for five cents apiece,
and launched the first high speed hamburger chain, the White Castle Restaurant.

Gun thugs, private mine guards who also had full county deputy privileges, were able to work

Comparing Characters In Macbeth And The Social Network
Comparing Characters in Macbeth and The Social Network
Similarities and differences are present between nearly anything. For instance, two books can be
compared in regards to their themes. Likewise, multiple people can be contrasted in regards to
their personality. Similarities and differences can be good and bad and they can also help one to
clearly see which of the subjects that are being compared are better than the other. Another example
of where two subjects can be compared is in Macbeth and The Social Network, in regards to the
characters. One may wonder how such different pieces of work could possibly be compared and
contrasted, but after analyzing both pieces, it is clear that such similarities and differences exist.

This shows how their idea, if successful, would make them rich and potential billionaires, given
their past work and their intelligence. Through both of these examples, it is clear that both the
twins and Malcolm are very close to being on top. However, it is evident that the situation in
Macbeth is worse than in The Social Network, because for Malcolm and Donalbain, this power
has put them at risk. Since Duncan has been murdered, they must flee to keep themselves safe.
Unlike for the twins, the only thing that they had at stake was their idea for HarvardConnection
being stolen. In this situation, Shakespeare makes the reader more sympathetic for Donalbain and
Malcolm than Sorkin does for the Winklevoss twins. This shows how although both characters are
similar, their situations are very different and the characters in Macbeth have it worse. Secondly,
Lady Macbeth and Sean Parker are two characters that are similar in the sense that they are the real
people in control behind the scenes. Although everyone may think that Macbeth is strong and a
good leader, Lady Macbeth controls him and convinces him to commit terrible crimes. One of Lady
Macbeth s way of controlling Macbeth is to question his manhood. Lady Macbeth expressed her

Oedipus The King Vs Jocasta Essay
Plays are meant to be watched not just to be read. A play by definition is a dramatic performance.
Do you realize there are many more benefits to watching plays rather than reading plays? Watching
plays keep all the characters in the storyline, permits you to see emotions and heightens your
experiences.
When you watch a play the audience is aware of all the characters weather they have speaking lines
or not. When reading a play the reader loses characters that do not show up on the page as they
have no speaking lines. The characters have a presence on stage interacting with the other
characters even without dialogue. Characters may use body language without words to convey

Some of the ways the character emotions are expressed are by body language, facial expression
and movement. The dramatic performance adds to the developing and understanding of each
character. As in the playOedipus the King, Jocasta appears on stage listening to Oedipus describe
his fate. Her face shows great concern as she covers her mouth in disbelief. The audience is
aware that Jocasta understands what has happened. She knows the entire plot. In print the reader
is unaware that Jocasta realizes the truth to the tragedy. Characters mood and emotions on stage
add to the meaning of the play. Plays are meant to be experienced. Characters come alive through
their actions, mood, and costumes. Watching a play becomes a multi sensory experience. The
audience gains the benefit of the playwright s script along with the actors interpretations and

It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that

Empty nest syndrome is a psychological condition faced by most of the parents after a certain point
of time in their lives when their children leave them for their higher education, marriage. This
condition is most common in mothers since they are the ones who have spent almost eighteen to

Twenties jazz, 50s rock, and 80s hip hop determined the sound the pop genre. The sound
consisted of simple and clean repeating melodies with a beat to dance to. The creation of pop
music occurred around the time of the invention of the television making it accessible to mass
market around the world (Pop Music). With the outbreak of rock n roll in the 50s, the 60s
consisted of the reinvention of rock n roll by John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and Mick Jagger. The
Beatles also reinvented the rock n roll sound to pop during the British Invasion as rock n roll s
fresh and early energy of the 50s and early 60s had declined (Norton, 823). The Beatles
influenced the pop genre commercially and artistically by validating that rock n roll could
embrace a limitless variety of harmonies, structures, and sounds (The Beatles Bio). Disco and
dance music emerged from the pop genre in the 70s. The ephemeral disco era influenced the style
of music from artists Rod Stewart and Diana Ross through the rhythms and tunes of music from
stars like The Bee Gees and Gloria Gaynor (Popular Music). Stars such as Madonna, Michael
Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Prince began to emerge in the 80s, and they influenced American
music through up and coming music videos. They also influenced prominent 80s fashion trends
that were portrayed through their music videos. Artists of the 80s continued to revive their music
personal styles to keep up with the youth of the new generations (Music Played). Ambitious boy
bands influenced the pop music of the 90s era. East 17 and Take that in Britain influenced
America s Backstreet Boys and N Sync. Boy Bands of the 90s were stereotyped for their matching
outfits, synchronized dancing, and fetching songs (The History of Pop Music). The genre of pop
music, along with rock n roll and old jazz, continues to change and grow through

The Myth Of The Bible
There are many aspects of christianity that cause me to wonder if the god that I have been taught
about my entire life exists. The matter of creation is not one of the things that causes my doubt.
Many atheists cite the proof of evolution as their reason to disprove the bible because it clearly
teaches young earth creationism. They along with the majority of christians are wrong. Evolution,
the Big Bang and science do not completely conflict with the bible. In order to truly understand the
bible you must realize that it is not an almanac or historical account of history. It is a collection of
many forms of writing that were put together to convey a message. Christians should not cling to
their arrogance and continue to make preposterous claims that turn agnostics, atheists, and other
theists away from Christianity. Old earth creationismis the only way that the bible should be
interpreted. In this paper rather than providing science I will simply show how young earth
creationist claims about the age of the earth are unfounded.
Young earth creationists believe the universe has existed for about 7,000 years. They provide proof
for this interpretation in two major ways. The young earth interpretation takes the use of the
hebrew word YГґm to mean a literal 24 hour day. meaning that Adam (if Adam was even an actual
person) was literally created 6 days after the universe itself came into existence. Young earth
creationists then trace the genealogies found in the bible to find the

Taliban In The Kite Runner
Hosseini s skillful description of life under the Taliban for the Afghan people is an essential aspect
of The Kite Runner. The Taliban was a conservative political and religious faction that gained
power in the mid 1990s following the removal of the Communist regime and descent into civil war
(Benson). The militant group destroyed non Islamic art and relics and imposed harsh criminal
punishments, including Stoning adulterers ... Raping children ... Flogging women for wearing high
heels ... Massacring Hazaras ... All in the name of Islam? (Hosseini 284). The group used these
methods in order to reach their goal of creating a pure and exclusive Islamic state ( Taliban).
Hosseini addresses this goal through the antagonist Assef, who claims Afghanistan

How Do Diaspora Media Help Construct Meanings of Community...
As a result of the western colonizing movement of the 19th century, a massive diasporic movement
of people across boundaries formed a unique group. This ongoing process of population movement
and mass exodus, as well as the effects it caused drew attention to the academic world at both
cultural and political levels. However, unlike the original residents, this diasporic shift demonstrated
distinctive traits such as identity and an ideology which evidently differed from those of the
natives. As Sreberny (2000. P179) argued: Diaspora has become a key term in theorizing about
immigration, ethnicity and identity and exerted a considerable influence historically, culturally,
socially and economically on developed capitalist societies.... Show more content on

Diaspora media, especially electronic media, with its facility of connection between locations,
has successfully managed to improve the quality and speed of communication, as well as to
shape its identity in local, national and transnational levels within a modern social context. Direct
audio and visual experience allows audiences to get together and exchange opinions over a
variety of topics such as languages, fashion, lifestyle, political viewpoints. This daily regular
activity of sharing the same media has made people subconsciously advance the sense of
belonging in a common unity (Anderson, 1983). From our living experiences, it is not hard to
find out that there are so many resources of information to choose from, which means our world
has been filled with media, and the diasporic space is no exception. Through all these media,
people encode and decode information, accept and reject ideas, and (re)define (new) meanings of
culture, community and identity. Electronic media shorten the distance between locations and
helped dispersed people to share the culture of the same root, allow comparison, (re)construction of
symbols, present and mediate meanings of Diasporas, localities, communities and identities.
Therefore, in media cultures social interaction and relations are no longer dependent on
simultaneous spatial co presence (Lull, 2000. P97). Instead, they use symbols and direct visuality
to carry the latter day communal memories and offer new schedules for

Exchange Theory In Mate Selection
The Role of Exchange and Rational Choice Theory in Mate Selection
Zenobia C. Wright
Florida A M University
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to give readers a better understanding of the Exchange Theory, as well as
Rational Choice Theory. To do this, we demonstrate how the typical scenario of mate selection for a
romantic relationship in today s society involves trading things one may personally value for
something that they feel is of equal value that the other person in the relationship possesses. We
will pay particular attention to the connection of exchange theory in interracial relationships
between blacks and whites. This is what we call the Exchange Theory. While also seeking to select
a mate, in our minds, we calculate the things that we like and dislike about the person. Although
subconsciously done, we are constantly making a list of pros and cons of things we value and
object in the other person. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is Exchange Theory? Exchange Theory is a way of thinking created for the purpose of
describing and explaining assumptions, procedures, and outcomes of social exchange. According
to Segre (2014), the focus of the Exchange theory is directed towards corresponding duty created
by social actors when exchanging resources. In simpler terms, the Exchange Theory asserts that
people s behaviors and the choices that they make are all made for the purpose of and intent to
achieve a desired personal goal while also maximizing or making the most out of that opportunity
for themselves. George C. Homans developed the Exchange Theory in his work Social Behavior as
Exchange . Here, Homans attempted to explain the relationship between actors who are in direct
contact with one another (Cook Whitmeyer,

The Weakness Of Society In Aristophanes s Play The Frogs
In Aristophanes play the Frogs he exercises some privileges such as criticizing the politicians and
playing fun with the gods to make the situation seem more light and fun. He mostly sticks to the
main problem that their society is losing the Peloponnesian war and that if they don t return to the
old ways of thinking and doing things then the kingdom will fall. Through his play he points out
several flaws in their society and what they can do to fix them but refraining from offending anyone
by saying it through the humorous situations and tones of the play. Throughout the play
Aristophanesamuses and informs his audience through the songs of the chorus and the actions
and words of his characters. The chorus allows for a humorous and lovely way to sum up what
others may have missed. This informs the crowd about what has just transpired while also
providing the crowd advice and allowing them to send prayers to the gods. Such as on page 181
when the chorus leader says We ll put on serious looks and have our say. And first for those
misguided souls I plead. Who in the past to Phrynichus paid heed, It s history now; their folly
they regret. The time has come to forgive and forget. and when the chorus leader says This city
treats her soundest men today: By a coincidence more sad than funny, It is very much like the
way we treat our money. The noble silver drachma, which of old, We were so proud of, and the
one of gold, Coins that rang true (clean stamped and worth their weight) Throughout the world
have ceased to circulate. Instead the purses of Athenian shoppers. Are full of phony silver plated
coppers . This is advice given about how Athens treats its people it gets them thinking about this
subject long after the play has ended. The chorus is how Aristophanes creates a light way to tell his
listeners his ideas about their own society and what they should do about their situation. He also
entertains his audience with the physical acts of the play such as when the god Dionysusand his
slave are being tested by being spanked to see which of them is actually a god. Through this act
Aristophanes is not trying to make fun of Dionysus even though he is shown as cowardly, idiotic
and very silly all dressed

Theme Of Animal Imagery In A Midsummer Night s Dream
An animal is any living organism other than a human being (OED). When the definition of animals
directly divides them from humankind, examples of half human, half animal creatures are
meaningful yet complicated symbols. A Midsummer Night s Dream plays with the mystical and
supernatural by frequently breaking down the barriers between animals and humans. Fairies are
neither human nor animal, and they live in a world, Fairyland, which is separate from and invisible
to humans. Considering the definition of animal is anything that is not human, the world of fae is
unconsciously rooted in animalistic imagery. This world is also home to other half human creatures
such as satyrs, centaurs, nymphs, mermaids and sprites. A Midsummer Night s Dream thus
highlights and breaks down the barriers between the human and non human world, and with
seemingly little purpose. This essay will analyze the use of animal imagery, particularly through the
donkey and serpent, to argue that animal imagery intensifies the emotions of the play, from
exaggerating comedic elements to accentuating the dark and nightmarish aspects of Fairyland. To
provide some context, Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream interferes with love through the
deception of fairies. When Hermia s father insists she marry Demetrius, she runs away with Hermia
and Lysander. Contrastingly, Helena chases after an uninterested Demetrius, helplessly in love. The
fairies meddle with these two couples by accidentally casting a love

Haggai, Zechariah, And Malachi
While there is some speculation in regards to the authorship of Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi,
the general scholarly consensus is that all three share titular authors. Haggai and Zechariah were
contemporaries; however, while Haggai s messages were only in a short period in 520 b.c.,
Zechariah s ministry stretched from 520 b.c., until after 480 b.c. Malachi was likely a
contemporary of Nehemiah, and it is likely that his book was written in 433 b.c., right after
Nehemiah returned from Persia. (NIV Study Bible)

also divided into four sections. It begins with a call to repentance, then later describes eight

Joshua. The third message of Zechariah rebukes the people for how they have turned away from

Edward Snowden and Wikileaks
Since the beginning of modern technology people have worried about being looked upon or spied
on without their knowing. Even before the internet was invented some people worried about their
phone calls being recorded or listened in on without their knowledge. In 1997 when the internet
was common in most households this made this idea of people being spied on much easier and on
a wider scale. The first proven threat of internetsurveillancewas in 2001 when the NSA(National
Security Agency) did a Large scale warrantless surveillance (Risen Bush Lets U.S Spy ) of internet
traffic and data streams. This surveillance program was a way to gather data and prevent terrorist
attacks. However some speculated that this was not just to monitor the activities of suspected
terrorists. In 2013 when Edward Snowden released data that proved that the NSA was using their
surveillance on everyone it turned speculation into fact and fears of this were brought to the surface.
In the summer of 2013 one of the biggest leaks of classified documents was carried out by a man
named Edward Snowden (E. McAskill) . Edward Snowden worked as an sysamin (System

documents was evidence that the United States was performing a large scale surveillance operation

Virginity And Its Effect On Society
The general topic of the film How to Lose Your Virginity was based on what is virginity. Even
though virginity is defined as the state of never having had sexual intercourse. A virgin is someone
who has never had sex. But sex is defined differently by different people. A lot of people think that
women and men lose their virginitythe first time they have penis in vaginaintercourse. But this
definition is really limited because it leaves lots of people and other types of sexout of the picture.
The being of the film opened up to questions and sracazime. Also keeping an open mind when
watching the film because everyone has their own definition of virginity. How people define
virginity is based on one s up bring and religious view. Therese Schechter uses this film as a
groundbreaker for people around the world to get a better understanding. To how other people
defined virginity and what it means to them. Therese discussed some facts on how, when and
why people lose their virginity is it love, peer pressure from friend because everyone is having

A story s point of view helps the reader get the writer s perspective. As such, one can determine
the truth about a character thus affecting their response to the character. It also influences the
reader s response based on what the narrator knows or their objective. In Charlotte Perkins
Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper the point of view is in the first person. The narrator participates
in the action of the story. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, the writer uses the third person
point of view and lets the reader know how the characterfeel. As such, one learns about the

The viewpoint of this story is meant to create sympathy for Miss Emily regarding her obsession
with Homer, without condemning her.
The Yellow Wallpaper can also be tied to this theory since it spins an exciting tale of how a wife
of a doctor becomes guilt ridden with depressed after the birth of her child. As a result, her
physician husband decides to place her under homecare to help cure her of her disease (3).
However, this only serves to intensify her illness and put a damper on her marriage. The first

Further, the first person standpoint in this story provides the reader access only to the woman s

in letting the reader get into the shoes of the wife and experience the feeling of isolation throughout
the story. The limitation of the viewpoint also involves narrating the story in the present, which

Welfare Argument Analysis
The welfare system has a been a debatable topic for many years now. People have various
viewpoints that relate to the welfare system. Most people believe that the welfare system is
abused. On the other hand, people do not mind paying more money for the less fortunate to be
provided with food, shelter, etc. This is a hard topic to consider because there are countless
variables that play a major role in how much money one could receive from welfare or other forms
of government assistance. Mountain Heights Academy presents an argumentative speech. In this
argument, the unknown author addresses that the welfare system must be reformed because the
current system has only increased poverty levels. It additionally addresses that there is a wide range

Assumptions weaken an argument because it is often difficult to argue unless the audience shares
the same assumptions. The assumptions need to clearly be explained and not left for interpretation.
The author claims that several of the families keep having more babies to increase their handouts
from the government (Mountain Heights Academy). However, the author seems to have no
background such as being a social worker which deals with assisting lower class people with
government funding such as welfare. They additionally have no proof that people have children
only to receive money from the government. Also, the opposing side is never addressed. There are
some individuals and families that truly need the welfare system to assist them sometimes. They do
not necessarily live off it or have children only to collect money from the government. This
assumption can be interpreted many ways because there is no proof. This assumption weakens the
argument tremendously. For instance, the author mentioned that the welfare program as we know
does absolutely nothing that it was set up to do (Mountain Heights Academy). The author remarks
that welfare system does nothing, but does not provide any facts or other information to support the
assumption. Information or research could have been provided to justify why the current welfare
system does nothing. This assumption is left for interpretation by the

Although the USCR tries to help all the people that they possibly can, it would be impossible for
them to help all the refugees that are currently in Mexico. USCR (2002) quoted that there were
432 asylum seekers filed in Mexico, which is an increase of over 50 percent from 2002. As
Mexico remains to day to continue to be a poverty stricken country, the percentage rate will
continue to increase, as will the illegal immigrants that cross the border each day to search for
hope, because they are unable to obtain refugee status.
For illegal immigrants, it is very dangerous for them to come across. They are risking their lives
and their families lives in search for work. In the deserts that they cross are robbers, murders, no
water and no food. The AZ Republic (2003) estimated that in a year s time, approximately one
million people will get caught trying to sneak illegally into the U.S., and over 1000 will die.
According to the USCR (2002), in July, Mexico began a campaign to amplify the immigration
enforcement at the southern border. The called their campaign Plan Sur , and it was aimed at
stopping numerous illegal immigrants from stepping foot into the U.S. After September 11,
hundreds more were deployed to watch the border from illegal immigrants. Also, The INS has the

Concerns of a Metal World Robots have always been a fascination though many Americans
openly discuss their concerns with what negative outcomes that automatons are capable of
creating though a lot of people fail to see the greater positive outcomes of assimilating these

some of the pros and cons of 3 main perspectives, which would be Commerce/Social, Medical,

The Long Term Effects Of Social Disadvantage Essay
to help industry and commerce make the most of its human resources. However, psychological
test data can also confront us with problems which are difficult to handle. Many of the
controversies which surround test use reflect existing problems in society. For example,
differences in test scores between blacks and whites in the United States are generally
considered to be a reflection of the long term effects of social disadvantage. Research shows that
these differences in test scores are not due to bias in the tests. They are real, and are predictive
of real social outcomes, to differences in academic attainment, differences in job performance,
and so on. Given the potential power of psychological tests as a tool, it is vital that they are used
carefully and appropriately. Use of tests should always be under the supervision of a competent
psychologist, or other suitably qualified, accredited person, and should always be carried out with
due regard for local cultural factors and for professional and ethical codes of practice. In the United
Kingdom, a national system of certification of test user competencies is now in place which is
based on standards for test use. In most countries, the national psychological association can
provide information and guidance covering the supply and use of tests, and standards for test
construction. Across countries, the International Test Commission liaises between national
psychological associations and provides guidance on technical issues

Vimy Ridge History
The 100th anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge is an important part of Canada 150
celebrations and a defining event in the history of our nation. Although Confederation occurred 50
years earlier, it has been said that in 1917, Canada was transformed from colony to nation on the
slopes of Vimy Ridge. Less well recognized is the important service of Canadas legal professionals
in that part of our history. This year will be different.
In April, Canadians will commemorate the uncommon service and sacrifice of the soldiers,
sailors, and airmen who left their families and occupations to serve in WWI generally and at
Vimy in particular. For the first time, in recognition of the remarkable service and leadership of
Canada s legal professionals, the Chief Justice of Canada and the Judge Advocate General of
Canada are invited to participate formally in the Vimy commemoration at the national cenotaph in
Ottawa. This recognition has been well earned.

Price Elasticity of Demand
The Price Elasticity Coefficient and Formula: * Price elasticity of demand = consumers
responsiveness/sensitivity to a product s price change * A product is elastic if a small change in
its price elicits very large changes in the quantity demanded. * * Movement on the demand curve
ex. products that are not required in people s daily lives are often elastic products. (not necessity
but luxury) * A product is inelastic if a big price change elicits very little influence on the quantity
demanded. * Minimal movement on the demand curve * ex. products that are required in people s
daily lives are often inelastic products. (not luxury but necessity)
It is important to keep in mind that elasticity involves percentage change in price and quantity
demanded; not absolute change.
Midpoint Formula for calculating elasticity: * We use the formula in computing the price
elasticity coefficient. * Ex: A change of $4 $5 along a demand curve is a 25% increase, but the
opposite price change from $5 $4 along the same curve is a 20% decrease. Since elasticity should
be the same whether price rises or falls, the midpoint formula is needed. * This formula simply
averages the two prices and the two quantities as the reference points for computing the percentages.
* Ex: the reference point for the

Gender and Social Norms in Shakespeare s As You Like It...
Gender and Social Norms in As You Like It
Shakespeare based his comedy As You Like It primarily on three other works. Its plot follows the
basic structure of Rosalynde, published in 1590 by Thomas Lodge. The Tale of Gamelyn, written
by an unknown author in the mid fourteenth century, is a violent Middle English narrative that
was found among Chaucer s papers and provides further details for Shakespeare s work. With the
Forest of Ardenne serving as an escape for our main characters, Shakespeare takes his details from
the countless Robin Hood ballads popular in Medieval England. This paper will examine how
Shakespeare s adaptations and alterations of emphasis and plot from these source works have
turned our attention to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final paragraph, Lodge reinforces his focus on men:
Here Gentlemen may you see in EUPHUES GOLDEN LEGACIE, that such as neglect their fathers
precepts, incurre much preiudice; that diuision in Nature as it is a blemish in nurture...concorde
sweetest conclusion, and amitie betwixt brothers more forceable than fortune.
This moral, pointed out to us in the last paragraph of Renaissance writing, says nothing about the
matters of interaction between men and women, only the interaction between brothers. The women
in the plot are deemphasized. In As You Like It, Shakespeare breaks all convention and a female
character delivers the epilog and speaks directly to the women calling them to action. The
playwright goes so far as to have Rosalind address the women audience members first.
Shakespeare clearly alters his plot to place primary emphasis on the women s roles in his play,
how they effect change and how they move and affect a world dominated by men.
Lodge s Rosalynde lives in a world where human behavior is repeatedly explained by reference
to long lists of infallible precepts that are said to determine our reactions, not as a reaction to what
other people have done or how they feel about each other (Stout 279). Shakespeare views love as
grounded in mutual behavior, and the interaction between people helps make possible what will
happen in the future. In Lodge, a common explanation for a character s actions is some sort

How Did Pythagoras Contribute To Geometry

Greece and died around 475 BC. Pythagoras is extremely important in the field of mathematics and
made many contributions to geometry. Not much is known about the early life of Pythagoras.
However, it is known that his father, Mnesarchus, was a merchant and that Pythagorastraveled

who are believed to have influenced Pythagoras and his interest in mathematics ( Pythagoras of

Sexualized In Public
Before I will discuss how I feel about women baring their breasts out in public, I personally need
to consider my own. My breasts in a whole are not too large, yet not quite big either. I can
personally exempt myself from being a lifetime member of the itty bitty titty community, yet I m
still unable to join the big girl s gang. My breast is pretty average based off of my knowledge;
having a C cup bra size isn t something to neither complain nor fret about, yet for my average
size breast I do regulate and more importantly sexualized because of my boobs. I don t recall
agreeing to be sexualized before I was born, but then again neither did I agree to be born in a
patriarchal modern day society. I think that breast shouldn t be regulated nor condemn. Though
being bare breasted in public is something that I have yet to experience or actually do in my life;
I m certainly on board with this symbolical type of activism. Being bare breasted brings forth this
sentiment of liberation: free from underwire and free from those annoying straps, yet it also brings
forth those antagonizing stares and remarks at the same time. Is liberating your breast really worth
it? Considering Bartky s analysis: not really. Yes, the time has passed since Bartky was written her
article, yet sanctions and violence are still prominent in our modern society. The gaze which is

Dealing In The Poem By W. H. Auden
The Poem was written by W.H Auden and was written in 1936.
The title in itself has many connotations of sadness. The word Funeral is associated with someone
dying. The word blues on the other hand is a type of Jazz that often conveys sadness. By combining
the two, we can see that the author has cleverly manipulated the title into conveying sadness.
The poem opens energetically, with an intensely emphasized verb Stop, a start that also suggests an
ending. Certainly, much of the rest of the poem is similarly constructed on heavily accentuated
verbs of command. The attitude of the poem is highly imperative. The poet gives out orders, but the
instructions he issues suggest that he cannot believe that the death of the certain person has
happened. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death severs this connection, creating a shift in how life is perceived. The strength of this is in
contrast with the images of death, the funeral preparations, and how society thinks of mourning that
are in the previous stanzas. The last line of the third stanza and the fourth stanza speak to the
perpetual sense of loss that death has on the plane of living.
In the fourth stanza the poet s agony rings out even more passionately. Here he stresses that
Nature notice his grief, calling it to extinguish the stars and the moon and the sun and get rid of
the ocean. He desires the world to reflect the emptiness within him left by death. Human
monuments to the dead will not be adequate at best. There is no optimism at the end of the poem;
the reader is left with the very real and very hostile sense of the man s grief, since no end can be
accomplished without the poet s

  • 2. Catalase Experiment Discussion: According to the experiment, the highest reaction rate occurred when the enzyme, Catalase, was 50% concentrated (see Fig.3). However, all of the rates were fairly similar no matter the concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration. That test resulted in no production of Oxygen because there was no enzymefor the Hydrogen peroxideto react to so nothing occurred in the testing container (see Fig. 1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from 0% concentration all produced very similar amounts of Oxygeneven though there was not as much of the enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration. The water took the place of a portion of the enzyme, or all of it, to keep a constant volume of enzyme mixture and to see how changing the amount enzymes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We used this information to form our hypothesis, which was that the 100% concentration test would have the highest reaction rate because the more enzyme is the more active sites there are, so more reactions can occur, and the the Hydrogen peroxide will be decomposed faster, giving it a higher rate. However, the results of our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the test that resulted in the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this occurred. The sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear growth between concentration and rate, which supports our hypothesis. Fig. 2 shows that the reaction rate plateaus towards the end of the 50 seconds, but this is because of the limited and constant amount of substrate, so it slowed down when the Hydrogen peroxide ran out. Our data did not support our hypothesis, but the class source support our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Film Critique On The Deer Hunter Essay Since 1968, there have been at least 25 films made that portray the events of the Vietnam War. Historians have to ask themselves when watching these films, Did the fictional character represent historical figures accurately? Is this how a soldier would react in this situation? The point of view of the director of the film can change with simple alterations in camera angles. For example, a view from the ground of a battle seen can show how the innocent people had the war in their own backyards. The view from a helicopter can show Viet Cong firing rounds at American troops and the troops can t tell the difference between the innocent and the enemy. The audience feels empathy and sympathy for the person from whose point of view the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it did just the opposite. It showed the atrocities that occurred in the war and caused many pro war advocates to question whether or not we should have been there in the first place. However, it only showed atrocities done to American troops, but it didn t show atrocities that American soldiers did to the Vietnamese. That didn t happen until the release of the 1986 film, Platoon. The whole film is based on a scene in the first third of the movie when Michael tells Nick that you need to kill a buck with one shot. This is foreshadowing for the Russian roulette that they were forced to play in the POW camp and at the end of the movie when Nick kills himself while playing roulette. When asked about the roulette scenes Michael Cimino, the director of the movie, said that he had only read about games of that nature in a newspaper report (After the Fact, page 418). But no journalist confirmed ever reporting such tactics in the prison camps. So one might suspect that these scenes, so powerful and the principle on which the film s symbolism is based, may not have ever actually occurred in these camps, or at least so rarely that it could hardly be portrayed as the general nature of games that the POWs were forced to play. The Deer Hunter does not focus much on the actual war in the field of battle. The director simply did not spend much of the movie in Vietnam. However, I thought the ... The people who originally took out life insurance were those suffering from terminal illnesses like AIDS and cancers who only may have had a few years or so to live. Those who sold their insurance policies were looking for a way to get an immediate return in monetary value from someone who had purchased the policy from them. When medical breakthroughs in the fight against the AIDS virus took place, many seniors were left high and dry having to pay extremely expensive insurance premiums on new policies. • 7. Marriage Is The Sacrament Of The Church Marriage is one of the sacraments of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church points out that Christian marriage becomes an efficacious sign, the sacrament of the covenant of Christ and the Church. An efficacious sign not only symbolizes or signifies something, but makes present what it signifies. Marriagesignifies and makes present the love of Christ to the baptized spouses; a love by which Christ formed the Church as his spouse. The image of the relationship between bridegroom and bride used to explain the relationship between Christ and the Church in the scriptures are appealing to a natural human relationship. The Scripture however shows that Christ s love for the Church surpasses natural human love. Christ s love for the Church is a love of complete self giving expressed in his death on the Cross. In this same vain, Christian marriage too aspires not only for natural human love, but also to Christ s love for the Church: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed ... The Holy Spirit binds the spouses together through their exchange of promises in a bond of love and fidelity unto death. Their marriage covenant becomes a participation in the unbreakable covenant between Christ the Bridegroom and his Bride, the Church. • 11. Tensions In Shalamov s Through The Snow Leaders aren t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work, says Vince Lombardi (qtd. in Walter). Lombardi, a retired American football coach, dispels the myth that leaders are born, but instead are the result of years of strenuous effort. As Lombardi depicts, being a leader is not easy, but a difficult task for the beholder. This feeling creates tension between the desire to become a leader and the difficulty of becoming one. Varlam Tikhonovich Shalamov writes about these same tensions throughout his short story Through the Snow. He compares the difficult tasks of a leader to that of someone treading through virgin snow in order to clear a path (Shalamov 320). Varlam Shalamov states, My stories are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a leader, it can be very difficult for them to influence their followers. Major Jacob W. Miller states that there are three types of outcomes that can occur: resistance, compliance, and commitment (Miller 214). The optimal outcome is commitment because the followers are willing to give maximum effort in order to finish the order. The followers are likely to strive for successful completion that exceeds standards (Miller 218). As seen in Through the Snow the followers are committed to the task. They do not lackadaisically stroll through the snow, but instead tramp down virgin snow, a place where man s foot has never trodden (Shalamov 320). The hardest tension for a leader is when his followers turn against him. Andrei Sakharov, the leading nuclear physicist during the development of the Soviet atomic bomb, was named the Hero of Socialist Labor due to his work and leadership (Timmons). However, during his work, he developed a deep awareness of the dangers of nuclear testing and the irreversible consequences of nuclear war (Timmons). Therefore, he began to openly push for greater cooperation between the Soviet Union and United States. Even though he had very few outspoken followers, he continued to push through the tensions. Eventually, authorities exiled Sakharov to his house and kept under police surveillance (Timmons). Nevertheless, he continued to strive for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Microsoft develops, manufactures, license and wires a wide range of products and services that are connected to personal computing. Microsoft is most remarkably known for its Windows Operating System(OS), MicrosoftOffice and Mobile products like Windows Phone and now tablets. Over the past 5 years or so, Microsoft has fallen behind with is world wide supremacy. For example, even though Windows OS is still the #1 operating system, it no longer leads by the border it once had. This is due to the better popularity of Apple iOS, Linux and Google Android and Chrome OS. Less than 10 years ago, Windows Phone was #1 with over 40% of the market share, now that market share has fallen to less than 5%. My premeditated plan is to help Microsoft raise its market share and gain a competitive frame. It will be significant to change the on hand technology approach to something more mutual and flexible. Microsoft has made billions of dollars production of great products at a great price, but the satisfaction of the past 5 years or threatens to weaken the company s relevance in the future of computing. The main force for global convergence was the virtual disappearance of the national manufactures being squeezed out by the international giants and the standardization of markets across international boundaries. Forced by international regulatory bodies at regional level and fuelled by ever more intensive global communication. Innovation THE BMW Group, as one of the world s most innovative companies, shows that Germany still leads the global field as a centre of innovation, says German Federal Minister Wolfgang Clement, who is patron of the award. BMW try to innovate new ways to stay ahead of their competitors. They designed a new manufacturing plant where the cars would move down the assembly line on an independently powered gantry. The new technology would produce sound waves so that collisions can be avoided, thus reducing the need for more workers and also reducing the risk of unwanted accidents in the plant. However, modern living often leaves little time for cooking at home (National Restaurant Association, n.d.). Due to modernization and adjustments in the lifestyles of many people, the means of complying with the demand of satisfying their hunger has changed dramatically. According to a research conducted by the National Restaurant Association (2013), about 33% of the consumers say that spending in fast food restaurants is an indispensable part in their lifestyles. It is for the reason that people in this fast phasing world prefer convenience foods that are served very quickly more than the home cooked meals that take time to prepare. This trend is sustained through the emergence of a prominent industry the fast food. Fast food industry is perceived to be an American conception. It is said to first begin in the United States of America in 1912 with the opening of a simple fast food restaurant called the Automat, which serve foods and drinks through coin and bill operated vending machines. The idea of this firm was soon followed and more popularized by the White Castle Restaurant in Wichita, Kansas in 1916. Since Duncan has been murdered, they must flee to keep themselves safe. Unlike for the twins, the only thing that they had at stake was their idea for HarvardConnection being stolen. In this situation, Shakespeare makes the reader more sympathetic for Donalbain and Malcolm than Sorkin does for the Winklevoss twins. Evolution, the Big Bang and science do not completely conflict with the bible. In order to truly understand the bible you must realize that it is not an almanac or historical account of history. As a result of the western colonizing movement of the 19th century, a massive diasporic movement of people across boundaries formed a unique group. This ongoing process of population movement and mass exodus, as well as the effects it caused drew attention to the academic world at both cultural and political levels. However, unlike the original residents, this diasporic shift demonstrated distinctive traits such as identity and an ideology which evidently differed from those of the natives. As Sreberny (2000. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diaspora media, especially electronic media, with its facility of connection between locations, has successfully managed to improve the quality and speed of communication, as well as to shape its identity in local, national and transnational levels within a modern social context. Direct audio and visual experience allows audiences to get together and exchange opinions over a variety of topics such as languages, fashion, lifestyle, political viewpoints. This daily regular activity of sharing the same media has made people subconsciously advance the sense of belonging in a common unity (Anderson, 1983). From our living experiences, it is not hard to find out that there are so many resources of information to choose from, which means our world has been filled with media, and the diasporic space is no exception. Through all these media, people encode and decode information, accept and reject ideas, and (re)define (new) meanings of culture, community and identity. The Weakness Of Society In Aristophanes s Play The Frogs In Aristophanes play the Frogs he exercises some privileges such as criticizing the politicians and playing fun with the gods to make the situation seem more light and fun. He mostly sticks to the main problem that their society is losing the Peloponnesian war and that if they don t return to the old ways of thinking and doing things then the kingdom will fall. Through his play he points out several flaws in their society and what they can do to fix them but refraining from offending anyone by saying it through the humorous situations and tones of the play. Throughout the play Aristophanesamuses and informs his audience through the songs of the chorus and the actions and words of his characters. The chorus allows for a humorous and lovely way to sum up what others may have missed. This informs the crowd about what has just transpired while also providing the crowd advice and allowing them to send prayers to the gods. Such as on page 181 when the chorus leader says We ll put on serious looks and have our say. And first for those misguided souls I plead. Who in the past to Phrynichus paid heed, It s history now; their folly they regret. • 33. Theme Of Animal Imagery In A Midsummer Night s Dream An animal is any living organism other than a human being (OED). When the definition of animals directly divides them from humankind, examples of half human, half animal creatures are meaningful yet complicated symbols. A Midsummer Night s Dream plays with the mystical and supernatural by frequently breaking down the barriers between animals and humans. Fairies are neither human nor animal, and they live in a world, Fairyland, which is separate from and invisible to humans. Considering the definition of animal is anything that is not human, the world of fae is unconsciously rooted in animalistic imagery. This world is also home to other half human creatures such as satyrs, centaurs, nymphs, mermaids and sprites. A Midsummer Night s Dream thus highlights and breaks down the barriers between the human and non human world, and with seemingly little purpose. This essay will analyze the use of animal imagery, particularly through the donkey and serpent, to argue that animal imagery intensifies the emotions of the play, from exaggerating comedic elements to accentuating the dark and nightmarish aspects of Fairyland. To provide some context, Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream interferes with love through the deception of fairies. When Hermia s father insists she marry Demetrius, she runs away with Hermia and Lysander. Contrastingly, Helena chases after an uninterested Demetrius, helplessly in love. The Birth of the Swatch Case Analysis: The success of Switzerland Company named Swatch owned by Societe Suisse de Microelectronique et d Horlogerie (SMH) is a perfect example of a successful brand and product management. This moral, pointed out to us in the last paragraph of Renaissance writing, says nothing about the matters of interaction between men and women, only the interaction between brothers. The women in the plot are deemphasized. In As You Like It, Shakespeare breaks all convention and a female character delivers the epilog and speaks directly to the women calling them to action. The playwright goes so far as to have Rosalind address the women audience members first. Shakespeare clearly alters his plot to place primary emphasis on the women s roles in his play, how they effect change and how they move and affect a world dominated by men. Lodge s Rosalynde lives in a world where human behavior is repeatedly explained by reference to long lists of infallible precepts that are said to determine our reactions, not as a reaction to what other people have done or how they feel about each other (Stout 279). Shakespeare views love as grounded in mutual behavior, and the interaction between people helps make possible what will happen in the future. My breast is pretty average based off of my knowledge; having a C cup bra size isn t something to neither complain nor fret about, yet for my average size breast I do regulate and more importantly sexualized because of my boobs. I don t recall agreeing to be sexualized before I was born, but then again neither did I agree to be born in a patriarchal modern day society. I think that breast shouldn t be regulated nor condemn. Though being bare breasted in public is something that I have yet to experience or actually do in my life; I m certainly on board with this symbolical type of activism. The poem opens energetically, with an intensely emphasized verb Stop, a start that also suggests an ending. Certainly, much of the rest of the poem is similarly constructed on heavily accentuated verbs of command. The attitude of the poem is highly imperative. The poet gives out orders, but the instructions he issues suggest that he cannot believe that the death of the certain person has happened. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Death severs this connection, creating a shift in how life is perceived. The strength of this is in contrast with the images of death, the funeral preparations, and how society thinks of mourning that are in the previous stanzas. The last line of the third stanza and the fourth stanza speak to the perpetual sense of loss that death has on the plane of living. In the fourth stanza the poet s agony rings out even more passionately. Here he stresses that Nature notice his grief, calling it to extinguish the stars and the moon and the sun and get rid of the ocean. He desires the world to reflect the emptiness within him left by death. Human monuments to the dead will not be adequate at best. There is no optimism at the end of the poem; the reader is left with the very real and very hostile sense of the man s grief, since no end can be accomplished without the poet s ...
