COMPARE AND CONTRAST BOURDIEU S APPROACH
TO THE AGENCY/STRUCTURE DICHOTOMY
WITH THAT OF GIDDENS
In recent years, several authors have attempted to deal with the problem of the relationship between
agency and social structure. This has manifested itself in the theory of structuration. Anthony Giddens
structuration theory is one of the best known and most articulated efforts to integrate agency and
structure. His theory proposes a duality of structure, in that agency and structure cannot be seen as
independent of one another. Pierre Bourdieu is another important theorist to contribute to this agency
structure debate. His theory of habitus and field is concerned principally with overcoming the
opposition between objectivism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Giddens response to this apparent problem is to emphasize the difference between option and feasible
option (Thompson, 1989). An individual who has only one option is not an agent, for there is no
possible way in which that individual could have done otherwise. But an individual who has only one
feasible option is an agent. This is because the option is only limited to one in that given the individual
s wants and desires, there is only one option that the individual would regard as reasonable to pursue
(Thompson, 1989). A possible course of action would not be an option for an agent if it had no
relevance to anything that the agent wanted. Giddens manages to preserve the link between structure
and agency by defining agency in such a way that any individual in any given situation could always
be an agent.
The core of the structuration theory lies in the ideas of structure, system, and duality of structure.
Structure only exists in and through the activities of human agents. It is what gives form and shape to
social life, but it is not itself that form and shape. Without this structure, social systems would not
exist. Giddens does not deny the fact that structure can be constraining on action, but he feels that
sociologists have exaggerated the importance of this constraint. Furthermore, they have failed to
emphasize the fact that structure

Strength Of Tensile Strength
2.1.8.4. Tensile strength:
Lightweight and normal weight concretes have similar tensile strengths, though lightweight exhibits
greater variability. The tensile strength of normal weight concrete of equal compressive strength may
vary within a wide range depending, among other parameters, on the shape and surface texture of the
aggregate. Experimental tests indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is highly variable and
ranges from a bout 8 12% of its compressive strength. The actual value depends on the type of the test
and crack propagation pattern at failure. (Ghoneim and El Mihlmy, 2008)
(Fabian, 2010), the tensile strength of concrete is important when considering cracking. For specimens
loaded under uniaxial compression, cracking parallel to the line of action of the load implies some
influence of the tensile strength of the specimens units. Depending on the load impact, tensile strength
can be divided into flexural tensile strength, splitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Symbolism and the Power of Three in Sir Gawain and the...
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a late 14th century Middle English alliterative romance about the
adventure of Sir Gawain, King Arthur s Knight of the Round Table. This great verse is praised not
only for its complex plot and rich language, but also for its sophisticated use of symbolism.
Symbolism is a technique used in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to give a significance to the plot.
The Green Knight, the Green Sash, and Sir Gawain s Shield are three of the most prominent symbols
given to us in this verse. The Green Knight, serves as a symbol himself. He is presented as a mixture
of foreign and familiar, evil and good. In the beginning the Green Knight is carrying peace(holly
branch) in one hand and war(battle axe) in the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In English folklore green was used to show rebirth, and a youth s passing (Lewis 50 51). In the story
the sash also represents cowardice, he gave into the lady and lied about the present (Goldhurst 61 65).
The fear of death ended up causing his downfall. In the end the sash was worn by all at the Round
Table, to show them the lesson learned by Gawain both in his rebirth in learning his lesson and in
remembrance of his sacrifice for King Arthur. The Power of Three is also a strong occurrence in this
writing, and in many Old English works. Sir Gawain has three different events in three stages: the
three hunts, the three seductions, and the three axe swings; all three relate to each other. The hunt by
Sir Gawain s host and the Seduction of Gawain by the lady are closely related to each other, but with a
twist, in the seduction scenes it is the hunter being hunted by the prey. During the first hunt, the Lords
prey is a deer. The deer is skittish and an easy catch, in the seduction scene Sir Gawain is able to
easily escape the trap from the lady. The Lord let the buck pass by as it was counted a crime to molest
the male deer (Poet 1154 6). As it was a crime to molest a male deer, it was also a crime for the lady to
molest the male deer. The Lady intimidated Sir Gawain, and this is where the first swing of the Green
Knights axe relates. The Green Knight stops the first swing just as Sir Gawain stopped the first
seduction. His fear of death causes him to

Taking a Look at Conflict Resolution
To manage these conflict styles; avoidance, accommodation, aggression, and collaboration
management styles are used. Roommates use these styles when dealing with conflict. The style they
choose relates to how they will use text messaging in conflict and how they would like their face to be
perceived by the individual involved in the conflict. When a roommate chooses avoidance they are
pretending the conflict does not exist and will avoid any form of communication for fear of their face
being perceived negatively. We see an explanation of this from Erving Goffman where he proposed an
idea of facework as a social performance where we are all actors. He offered a cooperative principle
where people agree to support each other s performance or face. To not support each other s face is to
disrupt the entire scene, because no one can continue in performance when others are embarrassed or
shamed (Cupach Metts, 1994). Based on the conflict modes of Thomas and Kilmann, there are five
styles of conflict management: avoiding, accommodating, collaborating, competing and
compromising. Accommodation happens when a person attempts to satisfy the other person s concerns
at the expense of their own, Avoiding is where a person sidesteps the conflict without trying to satisfy
either person s concern, Compromising is when the person partially satisfies both people s concerns,
Collaborating is when a person tries to find a win win solution that satisfies both people s concerns,
and Competing

Hae Min Lee Case
Sarah Koenig, an investigator is investigating the case about a high schooler, Hae Min Lee, who was
found dead after school on January 13, 1999. She was a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore
County in Maryland. People say that her ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed committed crime because both of
them broke up and he couldn t handle it. Because, of that, he had been in jail for at least 15 years now.
The real question is whether Adnan is innocent or guilty. Did he actually commit a crime? First, one of
the reasons why Adnan is innocent is that many of the people who knew him well said that he was a
very good kid. Usually, when people know a person very well, they would know the attitude of that
person very well too. Similarly, the people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

And she told me, that day after school I went to the public library. And Adnan was sitting at a
computer, checking email or something. And I sat down next to him. We started chatting. And Adnan
was a very popular boy in school. He was handsome and popular with the ladies. So she was speaking
to him. And her boyfriend shows up a little bit later with a friend. And she said her boyfriend was
really angry at her, because he s like, why are you talking to him? You know, high school kids, why
are you talking to him? Is he hitting on you? (Episode 1: The Alibi, pg 19) Both Asia and her
boyfriend can be used as a proof to say that it was impossible for Adnan to commit the crime.

Nurturing Relationships Between Adults And Children
Three strategies that can be used by child development professionals to develop nurturing
relationships between adults and children are Observing and noting, in which teachers listen for
beliefs, values, expectations and life experiences that make each infant and each family unique. (Lally,
2006, p. 118) in which the educator will learn how a child learns and plays, in which an adult can
discover what interests the infant and create a bond through play. A second way a developmental
professional can develop a nurturing relationship between adults and children is that of reflecting and
discussing what they observed in which discussion can determine How might we support what the
infants are doing? (Lally, 2006, p.119) thus leading

What Is Inheritance Tax Fq
Inheritance Tax FAQ s
When a loved one passes away and leaves us a portion of their estate, there is often an inheritance tax
attached to this estate, which will need to be paid. Here, we ll examine exactly what that tax is, why it
exists and if it applies to you, alongside many other common questions.
What is inheritance tax? The clue is in the title, as it is quite literally a tax on your inheritance. Or,
more accurately, on the estate of the person who has died. Basically, when you die, the government
will assess how much your estate is worth and will take what it feels it is owed from this estate. Your
estate will be made up of everything from the actual money in your bank, to any property or
businesses you own, vehicles, investments and even life insurance payouts.
When do I have to pay inheritance tax? You will have to pay inheritance tax on any estate worth
£325,000 or above. This is known as the inheritance tax threshold. Above that amount, anything you
leave behind is taxed. If the estate is worth less than this, no inheritance tax will be due. You will also
be able to avoid inheritance tax if everything in the estate is being left to a spouse, civil partner or
charity. If you re married or in a civil partnership and your estate is worth less than £325,000, you can
also transfer any unused threshold to your partner when you die, meaning their threshold can be as
much as double this amount (£650,000).

World War II Veterans
Free education is what the Government should provide the returning combat soldiers to keep them off
the streets and being homeless. G.I. Bill, U.S. legislation passed in 1944 that provided benefits to
World War II veterans. Through the Veterans Administration , the bill provided grants for school and
college tuition, small business loans, job training, hiring privileges, and unemployment payments.
Amendments to the act provided for full disability coverage and the construction of additional VA
hospitals. Later legislation made the benefits to all who had served in the armed forces longer. The GI
Bill is pretty much saying that the Government should provide the soldiers every thing that they will
need in life to succeed.

It is through these programs like housing and Urban Development VA Supportive Housing and
Homeless Veterans Community Employment Services that VA has helped cut Veteran homeless by
nearly 50 percent since 2010. Veterans who are homeless or who have recently exited homelessness
lack the basics many of us take for granted, like personal hygiene items, towels, small appliances, a
bed, and more. To help fill these needs, community organizations and individuals can join the Adopt a
VA program, where adopters are contacted by their local VA facility to donate services, support local
events, or participate in other efforts to help vulnerable Veterans as needs arise. Communities across
the country are already helping homeless Veterans in need through these partnerships with local VA
facilities. An elementary school in Bolingbrook, Illinois hosted a move in essentials drive in honor of
Veterans Day; local volunteers in Battle Creek, Michigan gave their time to assist with delivering beds
to a Veterans transitional housing project; and community members came together in San Francisco,
California to purchase a bed for a Veteran who has been sleeping on the floor of his apartment for five
years. In late 2009, the White House and VA announced an ambitious goal to end Veteran
homelessness. The plan to address this urgent national priority was outlined in 2010 s Opening Doors,
the first ever federal strategic plan to end Veteran homelessness (Health). These moves galvanized
federal, state and local actions to prevent Veterans from becoming homeless and help those who are
homeless become stably housed as quickly as possible. Since then, as a result of VA s close
collaboration with local and national stakeholder organizations, success in ending homelessness

The Theory Of The Second Pulley
For Case 1, in order for equilibrium to be achieved, the fourth pulley was at 259.44 degrees and 35
grams on the hanger. The experimental equilibrant force magnitude, 35 grams, was a little bit higher
than the calculated equilibrant force magnitude, 31.170 grams. The experimental equilibrant force
direction did agree with the calculated equilibrant force direction for this scenario. There was a 12.5%
percent error for Case 1.
For Case 2, the fourth pulley was at 15 degrees and 50 grams on the hanger. The experimental
equilibrant force magnitude, 50 grams, was way higher than the calculated equilibrated force
magnitude, 35.64 grams. Additionally, the calculated equilibrant force direction, 194.99 degrees, did
not agree with the experimental equilibrant force direction, 15 degrees. During the experiment, when
the fourth pulley was put on 194.99 degrees and tested with different grams on the hanger, the ring in
the center of the force table was not able to hold firmly. So, different angles and masses were tested to
achieve equilibrium. After various trial and errors, 15 degrees with 50 grams was the one that was able
to hold the ring firmly in the center. Since the experimental equilibrant force was found through trial
and errors, there was a pretty high percent error of 44.5%.
For Case 3, the fourth pulley was at 275 degrees with 50 grams. . The experimental equilibrant force
magnitude, 50 grams, was higher than the calculated equilibrated force magnitude, 45.28 grams.

Personality In Jodi Picoult s Nineteen Minutes
A person s image is one of the most important social aspects from day one. It will decide a person s
friends, career, and level of success. Personality is a fluid aspect that ties a person s image together. A
person s personality or image will change with company. In Nineteen Minutes, Jodi Picoult presents a
motif of public vs. private self through many of her characters to show that things are not always how
they seem and to make the reader evaluate who they are as a person. Humans need social interaction
to flourish and they tend to select a few people to become closest with. They share secrets, gossip
about others, and support each other in times of need, but how well can someone really know another
person? In Nineteen Minutes the reader watches Josie Cormier get ready for school, hiding her private
personality away for the day. Either Josie was someone she didn t want to be, or she was someone
who nobody wanted (Picoult 8). To all of Josie s classmates, friends, teachers, and even her own
mother she seems like the perfect child. Josie hangs out with the right crowd, gets great grades, and
follows all of society s rules perfectly, but no one really knows who she is. Behind the mask perfection
Josie is just another teenager struggling with depression and identity issues. The author chooses to
make the most popular girl in school also one of the most depressed to show that although things may
seem beautiful on the outside, they can be rotting from the inside. Picoult is proving how that easy it is
for people to hide their personalities to the world.
Additionally, Josie is in one of the most popular relationships at her high school. Everybody praised
her beautiful relationship with Matt but it s all just another façade. Throughout most of part one the
author builds sympathy for Matt and Josie because the boy who seems to be a loving boyfriend was
murdered, but later the truth becomes clear, The smile faded from Josie s face. When I told you I
slipped on the ice. Matt and I were having a fight and he hit me (Picoult 239). Even the most perfect
people have secrets they are hiding. Matt seemed like he truly loved Josie but it is clear that he is just
an abusive boyfriend, hiding who he truly is whenever

Universal Design For Learning Programs
Introduction The idea of a Universal Design was originally based in architecture design of the 1970s
by Ron Mace (King Sears, 2009). The concept grew from the idea of building design that would meet
the universal needs of all people by removing barriers. Cut ramps in sidewalks for wheelchairs, door
handles rather than knobs, and other accommodations that removed barriers to access and
unrestricting flow for all possible visitors, etc. Growing from this universal design notion stemmed the
idea of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Thus, in a UDL learning environment, it is an
environment unimpeded for all learners regardless of any disability or label such as LD or ELL. The
Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) purports in their 2011 document Universal Design for
Learning Guidelines version 2.0 , that such learning environments should center on the How of
learning examining strategic differentiated learning for the classroom; the What of learning with the
wide range of assessment options available to teachers and students; and the Why of learning
providing the purpose of learning and engagement in the learning process. UDL Examining a review
of some of the literature regarding UDL and the various website resources, especially the CAST
website, I found that a UDL system is not a learning system that can be adopted and implemented to
help instruction of students with a specific disability. Rather, UDL is a learning system that strives to

The Treaty Of Paris ( 1763 )
The Treaty of Paris (1763) was an agreement signed to end the Seven Years War (1754 1763), or

Agreement is different, from the Treaty of Paris signed in 1783 which concluded the American

Great Britain. It is also distinct from Treaty of Paris (1815) which solidified Napoleon s defeat in

the 1763 Treaty, which was conjointly signed with the Treaty of Habertusburg (1763), France ceded to
the British Empire holdings in India in addition to its territories in North America east of the

ceding Florida to British control. In exchange, France retained the islands of St. Lucia, Guadeloupe,

The Death Of A Ball Turret Gunner
Since the beginning of time, humans have sought after power and control. It is human instinct to
desire to be the undisputed champion, but when does it become a problem? Warfare has been practiced
throughout civilization as a way to justify power. Though the orders come directly from one man,
thousands of men and women pay the ultimate sacrifice. In Randall Jerrell s The Death of a Ball
Turret Gunner , Jarrell is commenting on the brutality of warfare. Not only does Jarrell address the
tragedies of war, he also blames politics, war leaders, and the soldier s acknowledgement of his duties.
(Hill 6) With only five lines of text, his poems allows the reader to understand what a soldier can go
through. With the use of Jerrell s poem, The Vietnam War, and Brian Turner s Ameriki Jundee , the
truth of combat will be revealed. To understand what a soldier goes through, Jerrell s poem must be
explored. His poem s time era is important, it taking place during World War Two, because it was the
most prominent war America has faced. The title alone tells the reader that someone has died.
Immediately in the first line, Jerrell reveals the speaker of the poem is retelling his death story. In the
first line, Jerrell talks about him being in his mother s belly and then falling into the state. By his
mother, he means the B 17 bomber. He has physically fallen asleep and reawakened in the turret s
chair. He could also be talking about the stages of his life. When he sleeps, he reminisces

Pangloss In Candide
Candide by Voltaire is a satirical work in which the author comments on religious and philosophical
beliefs in his day. Voltaire s irreverent narrative found within this book is very telling of his own
philosophical convictions. The main topic under scrutiny in this work is Leibniz s theory of the best of
all possible worlds. In this paper, I will seek to analyze the story of Candide, and more specifically the
character Pangloss, and in doing so examine Voltaire s commentary on the best of all possible worlds.
It seems that the main topic of Voltaire s critique is the Leibniz theory which states that the world we
live in is the best of all possible worlds. This theory is both explained and defended by the character
Pangloss. Pangloss is the tutor of the protagonist, Candide. Early on, Pangloss is identified as a

Hip Dysplasia
Hip dysplasia is a condition at the hip which babies are born with or developed in the early stages in
their life. This is due to the ball and socket joint not forming properly in babies. This condition is also
known as DDH (development dysplasia of the hip). DDH can have an effect on both of the hips but it
mainly affects the left hip and it is to be said that its common in first born children and girls. The thigh
bone and pelvis are attached together as the hip joint attaches them with each other. The top of the
femur which is shaped like a ball fits inside hip socket which is shaped like a cup. The socket of the
hip is not that deep therefore the femoral head is not secured and held tight in its place, causing the hip
joint to be loose.

Langston Hughes Accomplishments
Langston Hughes Langston Hughes once said, Sometimes I wish the public were equally aware of the
men of our race in the cultural fields. You for instance, have you ever bought a book by a negro
writer? Langston Hughes was an African American poet, novelist, and playwright. He was known for
his insightful and colorful portrayal of black life in the sixties. Through his major achievements in
literature, Langston Hughes helped African Americans accept and appreciate their heritage. Langston
Hughes was born on February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. Hughes s early years were very difficult
due to the separation of his parents. Hughes began to write poetry at the age of 14. Later, he tells he
was inspired by American authors, Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman. After being rejected from
various magazines, Hughes took up odd jobs around New York. IN 1925, Hughes met American poet,
Vachel Lindsay who was very impressed with Hughes s style of writing and decided to promote his
poetry. The poem, The Weary Blues won Hughes a scholarship at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.

State Farm Advertising Analysis
Today, advertising is as much a part of our lives as breathing. Whether we re driving, listening to the
radio, or watching T.V we are constantly being bombarded by thousands of companies telling us why
we should buy their products or services. Some advertisements prove to be effective, while others can
be easily dismissed. One very popular industry in advertisement is auto insurance. Every year
companies like Geico, State Farm, and All State invest millions of dollars, hoping to convince
audiences that their service is better than their competitors. Because auto insurance is a requirement
for every single individual who owns a vehicle it is a very competitive market where various ad
campaigns can be found. State Farm stands out amongst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As in the previous example, the commercial emphasizes State Farm s reliability. This time however,
there is no desperation because the young woman is so certain that her agent will get things resolved.
Just like the previous commercial, the ad uses pathos to convince their audience, assuring them that
State Farm will allow them to be stress free. The granting of the friends wishes for the perfect man
helps to reinforce the aspect of great service because it represents the company s ability to go above
and beyond for their customers. Again, pathos is presented through humor, making the ad memorable
and reinforcing the company s point: when you have State Farm there is no need for desperation
because they have you covered. Ethos is also once again reinforced through the agent s professional
attire, creating an ethical image for the company.
The next memorable ad in the campaign takes a different twist, because rather than promoting auto
insurance, it promotes home insurance. In this scenario, a group of young men are sitting at home
when a baseball suddenly breaks through the homeowner s window. As his friends begin to freak out,
the homeowner maintains the same relaxed attitude as the female from the previous example and
recites the magic jingle. Seeing his friends in shock as an agent magically appears he encourages them
to recite the jingle and make a request, which they follow by asking for a sandwich, a pretty girl, and a

Reproduction In Psychology
The field of personality psychology is a very unique one as it tries to understand and describe the
individual human being as a complex whole. It would seem easy to describe one personality by simply
identifying one personal traits or behaviors but one cannot explain individuality without comparing it
against other living organisms. Mc Adams (2009) states that the study of personality psychology
requires that one attempts to construct a scientifically credible account of people psychological
differences and search for biological and socio cultural factors that explain these differences and
commonalities. In order for us to understand these differences we need to start at the core of human
nature; at its origins.
So what are human beings like? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sexual desires play a great role in understanding an individual personality. Men in their nature are
attracted by power and wealth and can be aggressive in their approach in attaining both. They
approach sexual reproduction in a much different way to their female counterparts. Men tend to be
more aggressive and promiscuous in their approach as they tend to have many sexual partners as they
see the advantage of impregnating as many women as possible. This is seen as successful method of
ensuring that their genes are passed down to the next generation. They tend to seek out women with a
higher sexual reproduction, women who will be able to bear them strong healthy children able to
continue the reproduction process. Women on the other hand are choosier in their selection of mating
partners. They invest most of their time in finding the right type of partner who can provide financial
security and help protect and raise their offspring. If we are to take both analogies into a broader
prospective we can see these play out in both our modern days and history. Take for instance
monarchs or royal families. There is a strict procedure in the selection of a future prince or princess.
Because of royalty they have to select their partners based on several factors; such as social class or
standing in society; as it is important that

The Aeronautical Telecommunication Network ( Atn )
2.3 AERONAUTICAL TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK (ATN) :
2.3.1 Introduction
In the early 1980s, the international civil aviation community started to express concern about the
limitations on existing facilities and procedures, and their inability to cope with increasing air traffic
in the future years. Consequently Special Committee on FANS was established to study, identify and
assess new concepts and technology in the field of air navigation, including satellite technology, and
also to make recommendations thereon for the development of air navigation for international civil
aviation over a period of 25 years. A major result was the global Communications, Navigation and
Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) concept which identified the use of data
communications and of satellite based systems as being the two major areas of improvement to the
then existing systems. The CNS/ATM concept was further developed and redefined, after which the
Aeronautical Telecommunication Network (ATN) became an integral part of CNS/ATM systems. The
ATN comprises application entities and communication services which allow ground, air ground and
avionics data subnetworks to interoperate. This is done by adopting common interface services and
protocols based on International Standards. The ATN has been designed to provide data
communication services to Air Traffic Service (ATS) provider organizations and Aircraft Operating
agencies for the following types of communication traffic:

And to grasp how our systems work, I needed to have a deeper understanding of what they are made
of, which is what biochemistry is all about the chemistry of life. My interest in the human body started
in fourth grade when I first learned about anatomy and the body systems. Until this day, I haven t
forgotten the names of the bones in the skeletal system. When I volunteered to translate and help out
in a Medical Mission last summer in the Philippines, my interest in medicine grew. I knew I wanted to

was fascinating to be involved in the discussion between the patient and the doctors since I was the

2) Why is there no Mexican Olympics? Because everyone who can run, jump, or swim is already

Using Compact And High Performance Wireless Communication...
Chapter 1
Introduction
The patch antenna plays a very important role in today s world of wireless communication systems
.There is always a large demand for high performance ,small size and low cost wireless
communication systems .in order to get these requirements ,planar patch antenna is preferred because
of their various advantages such as light weight ,low volume ,low cost and ease for fabrication
.although the microstrip patch antenna has various advantages it has various disadvantages which are
low gain ,narrow bandwidth and low efficiency .These disadvantages can be overcome by
constructing many patch antennas in array configuration. Recently there has been increasing demand
in the use of DGSs for performance enhancement of microstrip patch antennas and planar array
antennas .there are basically two types of structures which are used for the design of compact and high
performance wireless communication systems named as defected ground structures (DGS) and
electromagnetic band gap structures (EBG) which is also known as photonic band gap structure(PBG).
These structures have been used to obtain the functions such as unwanted frequency rejection and
circuit size reduction. Recently defected ground structures have been introduced; DGSs are realized
by simply etching off simple shape (called as defect) from the ground plane .Depending upon the
shape and the dimensions of the defects ,the current distribution in the ground plane is disturbed and
resulting in a controlled

The First Method Of Mindfulness Of The Body
The first method of mindfulness of the body is to disentangle the direct and immediate sensation in the
body from our mental processes and reactions to the sensation. We attempt to place the sensation itself
in the foreground and fully observe it, while allowing our likes and dislikes, thoughts and fantasies, to
be noticed and let go of.
Many times as we work on our minds and bodies, there can be quite a bit of sore muscles, being tired,
just hang in there These will fade away and you will be on cloud nine. There will be sensations you
may not like.....that, too will fade away. We are instead fully observing the nature of the sensations at

sensation itself is contained. As s substitute, instead of transferring our attention we should penetrate
the experience a little more..
Accomplishing mindfulness during our practice of yoga, enables an awareness of letting go of our
control and link together our feelings, ideas and your passions. Letting go of the control this enables
our mind to become calm and peaceful, will be able to attain a better sense of wellbeing, take into

Researchers have recently begun to take an interest in healing benefits of mindfulness and yoga.
Research has indicated that there are many health benefits when applying mindfulness based
approaches to pain management, physical functioning, and the ability to cope with stresses in
everyday life.
We need to enable ourselves to understand how we can let go of stressful conditions by recognizing
and being mindful of them, Mindfulness Meditation is an effective technique for letting go of life s
problems. Mindfulness has always been essential to practice along with yoga since its early
documentation.

Gender Roles In The Penelopiad
Human nature is a large part of our world today. In Margret Atwood s, The Penelopiad, one can see
that the roles men take have a great effect on the women. Atwood says that Human nature has not
changed in thousands of years and still to this day is correct. The Penelopiad shows how women are
belittled and the how many stereotypes are being used to describe how Penelope lived. Human nature
consists of men being the rulers and women being the caretakers, but this is problematic because
women have the same ability as men; therefore, can contribute to the betterment of society. Currently
people still see women as the ones who have to clean, cook and do the majority of housework and the

Music as a Stress Reliever
They say music is one of the biggest stress relievers while acting gives you a chance to engulf yourself
into a character and be someone else for a change. Together these two create Musical Theater, possibly
one of the best two combinations known to man. Musical Theater is a worldwide form of
entertainment that has been around since ancient times and exhibits emotion through a series of acts
which include singing, dancing and scripted acting. Different areas of the world follow unique
storylines which are relevant to their past and current events. The beginning of Musical Theater dates
back to ancient times and originates mainly from the Romans, Greeks and Natya Shastas and
interestingly enough, it also dates back to The Harlem Renaissance Era. In the third BC Roman
comedies began to include dance and music. The Romans attached metal slabs to the bottom of their
shoes helping them to dance better. These shoes were called Sabilla shoes which now have evolved
into tap shoes. In the fifth BC ancient Greeks followed in the Romans footsteps by including dance
and music into their theatrical plays. PARAGRAPH ABOUT ROMAN RENAISSANCE ERA Later in
the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, religious dramas with chants and poetic lines transformed slowly
into musicals as they began to add music into the dramas. In the 1700s ballad and comic operas, which
were considered early Musicals, grew in popularity throughout Britain, France and Germany

Plagiarism Essay
Plagiarism. We do it everyday. But most people don t even know that they do it. Plagiarism is the act
of taking the work or a idea of someone else, and passing it off as your own (Webster). Now, there are
two main types of plagiarism: intentional and unintentional. Intentional plagiarism is when someone
copies words, ideas, or phrases and purposefully pass it off as their own, all without giving credit to
the correct source. On the other hand, unintentional plagiarism is when someone cites poorly, or if

Each state will have a certain number of representatives, and also pay direct taxes, on the basis of
population size (US Constitution 1 2). This excerpt from the US Constitution talks a lot about power
being divided in the government, by having three different branches, judicial, executive, and
legislative. The judiciary is the Supreme Court, which is addressed about later in the US Constitution,
the executive is the president, and the legislative is the Senate and the House of Representatives. They
also talk about power being divided in the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration of

what the king is doing wrong, the reader can infer that the US will do the opposite. So, when they say
that the king is dissolving the Representative Houses, the reader can assume that the US will not

The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History Essay
The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History
In making history, Brian Friel uses Hugh O Neill to define the characters in the play, and the way in
which his actions affect them gives the audience some characteristics to decide on the personality of
particular characters.
Harry Hoveden is obviously an important character in the play because he plays a major part in the
play, and appears in most of the major scenes. It is also clear that he is important to O Neill because he
is often the one person he turns to in times of crisis.
Harry is presented as a very loyal and sober character by, he serves to balance out some of the other
characters almost like a buffer. His calm nature in times of distress or excitement ... Show more

This calming and soothing effect also reflects on the audience because if he was not included, the play
would be a lot more negative and the audience would be more likely to feel insecure about the flow of
the play. His character contrasts so much with most of the other characters that it adds diversity to
making history. It makes some scenes more interesting because of the presence of this calm and
obviously intelligent character and his political soundness can mock characters like O Donnell. When
compared to characters like O Donnell
Harry is a very likeable character and appears as someone to be trusted and relied upon.
Brian Friel also uses him and his overwhelming loyalty towards O Neill to show a weakness in O
Neill s character. O Neill uses Harry to portray certain characters via contrast and particularly O Neill
by the way he treats Harry. It often appears that O Neill takes Harry for granted showing another side
to his character that can be thought of as weakness. Also the fact that whenever O Neill puts Harry
down he regrets it almost immediately shows that O Neill is insecure and sometimes does not think
before he speaks, so Brian Friel uses Harry to show a very important side to O Neill that could have
affected his judgment during the wars he fought and led.
Harry is also an expositional character, and Brian uses him to expose

That self imposition can come in the form of irresponsibility in money wherein it is earned but
frequently wasted on self interests and addictions such as alcohol, gambling, and drugs. Another
possible cause for such a condition could also simply be laziness and an overall unwillingness to work
while accruing debts and not carrying the responsibility of the family he took upon himself. These
thoughts are quickly dispelled by the author however, as she changes her tone in the following lines;
You gave her all you had/ which was nothing. You had already given her/ all you had. (Clifton 15 16)
This line indicate a sudden change of tone in her poem where she goes from blaming her father to

  • 2. COMPARE AND CONTRAST BOURDIEU S APPROACH TO THE... COMPARE AND CONTRAST BOURDIEU S APPROACH TO THE AGENCY/STRUCTURE DICHOTOMY WITH THAT OF GIDDENS In recent years, several authors have attempted to deal with the problem of the relationship between agency and social structure. This has manifested itself in the theory of structuration. Anthony Giddens structuration theory is one of the best known and most articulated efforts to integrate agency and structure. His theory proposes a duality of structure, in that agency and structure cannot be seen as independent of one another. Pierre Bourdieu is another important theorist to contribute to this agency structure debate. His theory of habitus and field is concerned principally with overcoming the opposition between objectivism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Giddens response to this apparent problem is to emphasize the difference between option and feasible option (Thompson, 1989). An individual who has only one option is not an agent, for there is no possible way in which that individual could have done otherwise. But an individual who has only one feasible option is an agent. This is because the option is only limited to one in that given the individual s wants and desires, there is only one option that the individual would regard as reasonable to pursue (Thompson, 1989). A possible course of action would not be an option for an agent if it had no relevance to anything that the agent wanted. Giddens manages to preserve the link between structure and agency by defining agency in such a way that any individual in any given situation could always be an agent. The core of the structuration theory lies in the ideas of structure, system, and duality of structure. Structure only exists in and through the activities of human agents. It is what gives form and shape to social life, but it is not itself that form and shape. Without this structure, social systems would not exist. Giddens does not deny the fact that structure can be constraining on action, but he feels that sociologists have exaggerated the importance of this constraint. Furthermore, they have failed to emphasize the fact that structure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Strength Of Tensile Strength 2.1.8.4. Tensile strength: Lightweight and normal weight concretes have similar tensile strengths, though lightweight exhibits greater variability. The tensile strength of normal weight concrete of equal compressive strength may vary within a wide range depending, among other parameters, on the shape and surface texture of the aggregate. Experimental tests indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is highly variable and ranges from a bout 8 12% of its compressive strength. The actual value depends on the type of the test and crack propagation pattern at failure. (Ghoneim and El Mihlmy, 2008) (Fabian, 2010), the tensile strength of concrete is important when considering cracking. For specimens loaded under uniaxial compression, cracking parallel to the line of action of the load implies some influence of the tensile strength of the specimens units. Depending on the load impact, tensile strength can be divided into flexural tensile strength, splitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Symbolism and the Power of Three in Sir Gawain and the... Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a late 14th century Middle English alliterative romance about the adventure of Sir Gawain, King Arthur s Knight of the Round Table. This great verse is praised not only for its complex plot and rich language, but also for its sophisticated use of symbolism. Symbolism is a technique used in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to give a significance to the plot. The Green Knight, the Green Sash, and Sir Gawain s Shield are three of the most prominent symbols given to us in this verse. The Green Knight, serves as a symbol himself. He is presented as a mixture of foreign and familiar, evil and good. In the beginning the Green Knight is carrying peace(holly branch) in one hand and war(battle axe) in the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In English folklore green was used to show rebirth, and a youth s passing (Lewis 50 51). In the story the sash also represents cowardice, he gave into the lady and lied about the present (Goldhurst 61 65). The fear of death ended up causing his downfall. In the end the sash was worn by all at the Round Table, to show them the lesson learned by Gawain both in his rebirth in learning his lesson and in remembrance of his sacrifice for King Arthur. The Power of Three is also a strong occurrence in this writing, and in many Old English works. Sir Gawain has three different events in three stages: the three hunts, the three seductions, and the three axe swings; all three relate to each other. The hunt by Sir Gawain s host and the Seduction of Gawain by the lady are closely related to each other, but with a twist, in the seduction scenes it is the hunter being hunted by the prey. During the first hunt, the Lords prey is a deer. The deer is skittish and an easy catch, in the seduction scene Sir Gawain is able to easily escape the trap from the lady. The Lord let the buck pass by as it was counted a crime to molest the male deer (Poet 1154 6). As it was a crime to molest a male deer, it was also a crime for the lady to molest the male deer. The Lady intimidated Sir Gawain, and this is where the first swing of the Green Knights axe relates. The Green Knight stops the first swing just as Sir Gawain stopped the first seduction. His fear of death causes him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Taking a Look at Conflict Resolution To manage these conflict styles; avoidance, accommodation, aggression, and collaboration management styles are used. Roommates use these styles when dealing with conflict. The style they choose relates to how they will use text messaging in conflict and how they would like their face to be perceived by the individual involved in the conflict. When a roommate chooses avoidance they are pretending the conflict does not exist and will avoid any form of communication for fear of their face being perceived negatively. We see an explanation of this from Erving Goffman where he proposed an idea of facework as a social performance where we are all actors. He offered a cooperative principle where people agree to support each other s performance or face. To not support each other s face is to disrupt the entire scene, because no one can continue in performance when others are embarrassed or shamed (Cupach Metts, 1994). Based on the conflict modes of Thomas and Kilmann, there are five styles of conflict management: avoiding, accommodating, collaborating, competing and compromising. Accommodation happens when a person attempts to satisfy the other person s concerns at the expense of their own, Avoiding is where a person sidesteps the conflict without trying to satisfy either person s concern, Compromising is when the person partially satisfies both people s concerns, Collaborating is when a person tries to find a win win solution that satisfies both people s concerns, and Competing ... She was a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County in Maryland. People say that her ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed committed crime because both of them broke up and he couldn t handle it. Because, of that, he had been in jail for at least 15 years now. The real question is whether Adnan is innocent or guilty. Did he actually commit a crime? First, one of the reasons why Adnan is innocent is that many of the people who knew him well said that he was a very good kid. • 8. What Is Inheritance Tax Fq Inheritance Tax FAQ s When a loved one passes away and leaves us a portion of their estate, there is often an inheritance tax attached to this estate, which will need to be paid. Here, we ll examine exactly what that tax is, why it exists and if it applies to you, alongside many other common questions. What is inheritance tax? The clue is in the title, as it is quite literally a tax on your inheritance. Or, more accurately, on the estate of the person who has died. Basically, when you die, the government will assess how much your estate is worth and will take what it feels it is owed from this estate. Your estate will be made up of everything from the actual money in your bank, to any property or businesses you own, vehicles, investments and even life insurance payouts. When do I have to pay inheritance tax? You will have to pay inheritance tax on any estate worth £325,000 or above. This is known as the inheritance tax threshold. Above that amount, anything you leave behind is taxed. If the estate is worth less than this, no inheritance tax will be due. You will also be able to avoid inheritance tax if everything in the estate is being left to a spouse, civil partner or charity. If you re married or in a civil partnership and your estate is worth less than £325,000, you can also transfer any unused threshold to your partner when you die, meaning their threshold can be as much as double this amount (£650,000). This shows that the NCAA is reaping all of the profit from players merchandise even though the players are the ones who are dedicating their hard work and time trying to advance their career. It is through these programs like housing and Urban Development VA Supportive Housing and Homeless Veterans Community Employment Services that VA has helped cut Veteran homeless by nearly 50 percent since 2010. Veterans who are homeless or who have recently exited homelessness lack the basics many of us take for granted, like personal hygiene items, towels, small appliances, a bed, and more. To help fill these needs, community organizations and individuals can join the Adopt a VA program, where adopters are contacted by their local VA facility to donate services, support local events, or participate in other efforts to help vulnerable Veterans as needs arise. Communities across the country are already helping homeless Veterans in need through these partnerships with local VA facilities. An elementary school in Bolingbrook, Illinois hosted a move in essentials drive in honor of Veterans Day; local volunteers in Battle Creek, Michigan gave their time to assist with delivering beds to a Veterans transitional housing project; and community members came together in San Francisco, California to purchase a bed for a Veteran who has been sleeping on the floor of his apartment for five years. In late 2009, the White House and VA announced an ambitious goal to end Veteran homelessness. The plan to address this urgent national priority was outlined in 2010 s Opening Doors, the first ever federal strategic plan to end Veteran homelessness (Health). The experimental equilibrant force magnitude, 35 grams, was a little bit higher than the calculated equilibrant force magnitude, 31.170 grams. The experimental equilibrant force direction did agree with the calculated equilibrant force direction for this scenario. There was a 12.5% percent error for Case 1. For Case 2, the fourth pulley was at 15 degrees and 50 grams on the hanger. The experimental equilibrant force magnitude, 50 grams, was way higher than the calculated equilibrated force magnitude, 35.64 grams. Additionally, the calculated equilibrant force direction, 194.99 degrees, did not agree with the experimental equilibrant force direction, 15 degrees. During the experiment, when the fourth pulley was put on 194.99 degrees and tested with different grams on the hanger, the ring in the center of the force table was not able to hold firmly. So, different angles and masses were tested to achieve equilibrium. After various trial and errors, 15 degrees with 50 grams was the one that was able to hold the ring firmly in the center. Since the experimental equilibrant force was found through trial and errors, there was a pretty high percent error of 44.5%. For Case 3, the fourth pulley was at 275 degrees with 50 grams. . • 13. Personality In Jodi Picoult s Nineteen Minutes A person s image is one of the most important social aspects from day one. It will decide a person s friends, career, and level of success. Personality is a fluid aspect that ties a person s image together. A person s personality or image will change with company. In Nineteen Minutes, Jodi Picoult presents a motif of public vs. private self through many of her characters to show that things are not always how they seem and to make the reader evaluate who they are as a person. Humans need social interaction to flourish and they tend to select a few people to become closest with. They share secrets, gossip about others, and support each other in times of need, but how well can someone really know another person? In Nineteen Minutes the reader watches Josie Cormier get ready for school, hiding her private personality away for the day. Either Josie was someone she didn t want to be, or she was someone who nobody wanted (Picoult 8). To all of Josie s classmates, friends, teachers, and even her own mother she seems like the perfect child. Josie hangs out with the right crowd, gets great grades, and follows all of society s rules perfectly, but no one really knows who she is. Behind the mask perfection Josie is just another teenager struggling with depression and identity issues. The author chooses to make the most popular girl in school also one of the most depressed to show that although things may seem beautiful on the outside, they can be rotting from the inside. Picoult is proving how that easy it is for people to hide their personalities to the world. Additionally, Josie is in one of the most popular relationships at her high school. Everybody praised her beautiful relationship with Matt but it s all just another façade. Throughout most of part one the author builds sympathy for Matt and Josie because the boy who seems to be a loving boyfriend was murdered, but later the truth becomes clear, The smile faded from Josie s face. When I told you I slipped on the ice. Matt and I were having a fight and he hit me (Picoult 239). Even the most perfect people have secrets they are hiding. • 14. Universal Design For Learning Programs Introduction The idea of a Universal Design was originally based in architecture design of the 1970s by Ron Mace (King Sears, 2009). The concept grew from the idea of building design that would meet the universal needs of all people by removing barriers. Cut ramps in sidewalks for wheelchairs, door handles rather than knobs, and other accommodations that removed barriers to access and unrestricting flow for all possible visitors, etc. Growing from this universal design notion stemmed the idea of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Thus, in a UDL learning environment, it is an environment unimpeded for all learners regardless of any disability or label such as LD or ELL. The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) purports in their 2011 document Universal Design for Learning Guidelines version 2.0 , that such learning environments should center on the How of learning examining strategic differentiated learning for the classroom; the What of learning with the wide range of assessment options available to teachers and students; and the Why of learning providing the purpose of learning and engagement in the learning process. UDL Examining a review of some of the literature regarding UDL and the various website resources, especially the CAST website, I found that a UDL system is not a learning system that can be adopted and implemented to help instruction of students with a specific disability. In Randall Jerrell s The Death of a Ball Turret Gunner , Jarrell is commenting on the brutality of warfare. Consequently Special Committee on FANS was established to study, identify and assess new concepts and technology in the field of air navigation, including satellite technology, and also to make recommendations thereon for the development of air navigation for international civil aviation over a period of 25 years. A major result was the global Communications, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) concept which identified the use of data communications and of satellite based systems as being the two major areas of improvement to the then existing systems. The CNS/ATM concept was further developed and redefined, after which the Aeronautical Telecommunication Network (ATN) became an integral part of CNS/ATM systems. The ATN comprises application entities and communication services which allow ground, air ground and avionics data subnetworks to interoperate. Chapter 1 Introduction The patch antenna plays a very important role in today s world of wireless communication systems .There is always a large demand for high performance ,small size and low cost wireless communication systems .in order to get these requirements ,planar patch antenna is preferred because of their various advantages such as light weight ,low volume ,low cost and ease for fabrication .although the microstrip patch antenna has various advantages it has various disadvantages which are low gain ,narrow bandwidth and low efficiency .These disadvantages can be overcome by constructing many patch antennas in array configuration. Recently there has been increasing demand in the use of DGSs for performance enhancement of microstrip patch antennas and planar array antennas .there are basically two types of structures which are used for the design of compact and high performance wireless communication systems named as defected ground structures (DGS) and electromagnetic band gap structures (EBG) which is also known as photonic band gap structure(PBG). These structures have been used to obtain the functions such as unwanted frequency rejection and circuit size reduction. The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History Essay The Importance of Harry Hoveden in Making History In making history, Brian Friel uses Hugh O Neill to define the characters in the play, and the way in which his actions affect them gives the audience some characteristics to decide on the personality of particular characters. Harry Hoveden is obviously an important character in the play because he plays a major part in the play, and appears in most of the major scenes. It is also clear that he is important to O Neill because he is often the one person he turns to in times of crisis. This calming and soothing effect also reflects on the audience because if he was not included, the play would be a lot more negative and the audience would be more likely to feel insecure about the flow of the play. His character contrasts so much with most of the other characters that it adds diversity to making history. It makes some scenes more interesting because of the presence of this calm and obviously intelligent character and his political soundness can mock characters like O Donnell. When compared to characters like O Donnell Harry is a very likeable character and appears as someone to be trusted and relied upon. Brian Friel also uses him and his overwhelming loyalty towards O Neill to show a weakness in O Neill s character. O Neill uses Harry to portray certain characters via contrast and particularly O Neill by the way he treats Harry. It often appears that O Neill takes Harry for granted showing another side to his character that can be thought of as weakness. Also the fact that whenever O Neill puts Harry down he regrets it almost immediately shows that O Neill is insecure and sometimes does not think before he speaks, so Brian Friel uses Harry to show a very important side to O Neill that could have affected his judgment during the wars he fought and led. Harry is also an expositional character, and Brian uses him to expose different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
