The Value Chain Analysis Of Disney s Core Competency
Entertainment is Disney s main core competency which results from:
● Excellent staff recruitment and training
● Thorough research of their target market(s)
● Expansion to global markets
● Acquisition of competitor brands
● Providing broad range of business segments
● Constantly searching for new ways of growth
2.2.3 Distinctive Organizational Capabilities
Disney has some very distinctive characteristics that sets it above its competitors:
● The organization has a broad range of business sectors that would be very difficult to imitate. This
sets this sets them above and beyond competition.
● The brand has worldwide recognition and is respected and known for quality entertainment.
● Disney has substantial access to resources which makes its spending power and capabilities to
compete almost limitless.
● Their extensive research in market trends enables them to keep a step ahead of its competitors by
constantly expanding to meet consumer needs.
2.2.4 Value Chain Analysis
Under Mike Porter s Value Chain analysis every organization has primary activities and support

The Growth Of Eco Friendly And Reliable Methods For Our...
Introduction
During the course of human history, fungi has always been used as food and exploited to preserve and
ferment beverages and foods. By the twentieth century, we had learned to protect human health by
harnessing fung (immunosuppressive agents, anti cholesterol statins and antibiotics), while industries
made us of fungi to support large scale production of acids, biosurfactants and enzymes. In the 1980 s,
with the dawn of fresh nanotechnology, fungi had remained important by being able to synthesize
nanoparticles.
Nanoparticles or nanomaterials are materials including particles or constituents that are of nanoscale
proportions, or something that has been produced via nanotechnology. Biologically hazardous or
environmentally toxic reducing agents are normally associated in the nanoparticles chemical
synthesis. Today, the growth of eco friendly and reliable methods for the production of nanomaterials
is a vital facet of nanotechnology. One such approach that has shown potential beyond measure is
centred on the use of biological micro organisms, such as fungi for the biosynthesis of these
nanoparticles.
Fungi can invariably be used for the synthesizing of metallic nanoparticles from their salt, since fungi
contain enzymes and proteins as reducing agents. Should be cautious while handling them during
experiments, as some fungi are disease causing. Fungal biomass generally grows quicker than that of
bacteria in consistent conditions. While production of metal

Antidepressants And The Monoamine Theory Of Depression
1. Introduction
1.1. Depression: definition, symptoms and classification
Depression is defined by the DSM IV as a mental disorder characterized by sustained depression of
mood, anhedonia, sleep and appetite disturbances, feelings of worthlessness, guilt, and hopelessness.
Depressive symptoms such as the mere inability to experience pleasure and loss of energy persisting
for longer than two weeks are usually enough to indicate an affective disorder (Hirschfeld 2014).
There are significant variations in presentations and diagnosis criteria, but regardless of the
classification of depressive states (Major (Unipolar), Bipolar, Dysthymia, Atypical, SAD,
Postpartum), it is agreed upon that pharmacological interventions are sometimes required: to alleviate
debilitating symptoms and improve patients quality of life. The interest in depression medications
reflects the gravity of the disease i.e. its ability to psychologically impair lives and lead to suicide.

antidepressants, these treatments often yield inadequate results, for instance; up to 70% of patients
with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) do not reach remission with an adequate course of one
antidepressant and experience poorer long term outcomes (Fava 2003).The failures and shortcomings

Vengeance In Beowulf
Vengeance is punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong. So is it ever really
right, weather morally right or just all together right? Everyone has their reasons some no one
understand. But in other cases we feel as if we were in that situation we would have done things the
same way. In Beowulf I think Grendel s mother was morally right in seeking vengeance. I believe that
Grendel s mother was right for many reasons. If you were a mother who just lost a child you would
have hate in you heart, you would want the person who caused the lost of your child to pay for what
he or she has done. You would want them to feel just as much pain as you did. So just think how
Grendel s mother felt to find out her son had been killed.

Alex: Okay, that works.
Joe: So the recorder is now on. Just by way of introduction, can you guys give us a little about your
background with Nevada Climate and Energy Policy?
Alex: Before we jump in, can you give us a little bit more context of what the end goal of the project
is and what the big pitcher here is?
Dana: Sure, I can do that. Basically the idea is that we publish a number of people looking at climate
policy in the United States, particularly mapping out planet ploy network. One of the papers was
published in Nature Climate Change on what we call echo chambers and American Climate Policies
that Joe worked with me on. What we are planning on doing is updating that work, but also looking at
network at the State level around energy politics.
Particularly looking at clean energy networks there. The end goals will hopefully be some papers that
we submit for peer review, where all the information provided is off the record. If we wanted to quote
you, we would ask you for your permission, but then we are also going to be writing out some white
papers that will summarize the finding that will be made publicly available to people. A general
overview of what we are finding with regards to these networks. We would be happy to share and we

Bruno Is Behind The Fence In Pajamas
Many kids are faced with difficult situations that are hard to overcome. They may have trouble
making new friends or find it hard to fit in at a new school, but they always have family that sticks by
them and helps them through their struggles. Bruno is a loyal and curious boy and is struggling with
making new friends and fitting in. He is determined to make friends and is motivated by the
circumstances one boy is in. Bruno is confused and curious why Shmuel is behind the fence in
pajamas. He has never seen or experienced a kid like Shmuel and he does not understand why he is
behind the fence or why he cannot play ball. When Bruno first meets Shmuel he asks what he is doing
behind the fence and asks him if he wants to come out and play. Shmuel explains to Bruno that he
cannot leave the place he is in because he is a Jew, but he does not know much more than that. This
confuses Bruno even more because he has never known a boy who was not allowed to come out and

Social Change in Two Novels Essay
Social Forces are the Forces of the environment that include the demographic characteristics of the
population and its values. (Richard J. Ch.3) The social forces can affect the conceptual framework of
marriage, education, social class, and politics. In the Nineteenth Century, many authors addressed
those social forces in forms of novels. Among those authors were William Makepeace Thackeray and
Thomas Hardy. This essay will compare and contrast the nature and function of society and social
forces on Thackeray s Vanity Fair and Hardy s Tess D Urberville.

Her manipulative character sparks different emotions from the Crawleys but succeeds in impressing
the wealthiest of its members, Aunt Matilda Crawley. Meanwhile, she figures that Matilda s fortune
will eventually be in the possession of her favourite nephew, Rawdon.
Thackeray examines Rebecca s character in the event of Sir Pitt s proposal while she was secretly
married to his son, Rawdon. When she refused Sir Pitt, Thackeray described her refusal in a tone of
regret as she considers Sir Pitt as a potential asset considering his wealth, age, and needs in
comparison to Rawdon. The narrator describes Rebecca emotions as she gave away to some sincere
and touching regrets that a piece of marvellous good fortune should have been so near her, and she
actually obliged to decline it. (P. 138)
Thackeray also mentions Sir Pitt s second wife, Lady Rawson, in an attempt to warn the reader of
what may become of Becky Sharp. Lady Rawson gave up her previous relationship which was based
on love to end up marrying Sir Pitt for his wealth and social standing. Although wealth was granted to
her, her life lacked any sort of happiness or satisfaction. The narrator later describe Rose s life as her
rose faded out of her cheeks, and the pretty freshness left her figure after the birth of a couple children,
and she became a mere matching in her husband s house, of no more use than the late lady Crawley s
grand piano. (P. 74)
Social forces also motivated parental attitudes in Vanity

Sympathy In The Book Thief
For my fiction book, I have decided to read The Book Thief , by the Australian writer Markus Zusak.
The story begins with an introduction narrated by Death personified. I ve found that unlike the many
times I ve read about this being and their thought process , this one is almost kinder in a way. It is not
a heartless being that has merely grown bored of it s eternal task, it feels sympathy for those he
effects, both directly and indirectly. It seems to take an almost childish interest in the main
protagonist, Liesel Meminger, one filled with innocence and curiosity. As for her, I have found myself
feeling a great deal of both sympathy and empathy for her. On her way to her foster parents home, her
6 year old brother, Werner, falls ill and dies right in front of her, and they, she and her mother, are
forced to bury him in a graveyard along the railroad tracks. This is where she steals her first book, The
Gravedigger s Handbook. Once she arrives at her new home, 33 Himmel Street in Molching,
Germany, she meets her foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Rosa is violent to some extent,
often beating Liesel over the head with a wooden spoon, as well as using excessively foul language,
often calling Liesel and Hans filthy pigs . Despite this however, Rosa still loved Liesel, and ... Show

It was a sort a breath of fresh air to me as well, as I mostly read in a purely fictional genre of reading,
and I never stray from that, even into the historical fiction genre that this book occupies. I mentioned
earlier that I felt a great deal of empathy for her, due to reading about her story bringing up some
rather unsavory memories about the passing of my own loved ones, as well as a period in my life
where I was one of the worst readers in my age group. It incited a great deal of emotion on my part,
and I doubt I ll forget about Leisel and her struggles anytime

Unit 1 Assignment 1 Case Studies Of Endearment
Endearment, something that endears: an action or utterance showing affection and to makes dear,
esteemed, or beloved. These terms all have a positive connotation and are seen in an affectionate view
when used in any setting. In comparison, the n word is defined as a contemptuous term used to refer to
a person of any racial or ethnic origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc. and a victim of
prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economical, politically, or socially
disenfranchised. These two words are in no way viewed, in the literary sense, on the same end of the
spectrum yet in this particular article those involved see them as interchangeable. The feelings and
emotions that accompany this term are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would establish a discussion forum that addressed both this particular racial slur and others in the
classroom setting. I would first gather resources and research relating to specific race relations and
racial slurs in the environment and the challenges that have been presented. Secondly, I would request
assistance in establishing a board/forum of students, teachers, administrators, and parents who would
be willing to discuss this issues collectively with positive results being the ultimate goal. I would
utilize this forum on a regular basis and not just during periods of tension. Keeping communication
open about these types of situations takes some of the apprehension and anger out of them when they
present themselves in our everyday lives. My rationale in this is that the challenges that face society
today are hindered by silence. When a person or group feels that they do not have a voice, it hinders
their ability to participate actively and productively in these types

In the recent years, BWW restaurants are affected by the economic downfall (Southward, 2013).

Five Pillars Of Islam
Arkhan al Islam or the five pillars of faith are the foundations of Islam which govern the everyday
actions and practices of Islamic adherents around the world. These core teachings of Islam are
essential in order for Muslims to be able to efficiently express and practice their beliefs. Adherents are
expected to follow these pillars as it is stated in the Qur an, believed to be the direct word of Allah,
revealed through the revelation to the prophet Muhammad. The five pillars are a crucial part of Islam,
therefore being perfect examples of expressions of faith, as they shape how the Islamic faith is lived

beliefs in similar yet slightly altered ways. By living out these pillars, adherents are showing full
submission to Allah and will assist adherents in gaining a place in the afterlife.

Prime Minister Corruption
Prime Ministers receive significant responsibility once they are elected into power and whilst
managing that intense pressure is where corruption takes place. The concept of one person having all
the power has been in the world for decades now and yet, the outcome is always the same: degrading
integrity and crookedness. In some of the most severe examples, there has even been death involved.
Although, Canada s Parliament has not reached that point of harshness and might never, corruption
has taken place within our government and as a result of this, public policy has suffered. As the polls
on election night come to a close, the title of Prime Minister is granted to one person who receives the
opportunity to run their country. The notion of giving one individual such intense power has created a
downfall within our society and therefore causing damage in areas of public policy that one person
cannot be fully knowledgeable in thus leading to corruption. When a Prime Minsters enters office,
they become the face of our entire nation, including people who voted for them and even those against
them. Therefore, their decisions and actions should benefit everyone, but it does not always work that
way. When an individual has the chance to grasp the severity of their power, the outcome tends to
decrease their integrity and honesty. This statement applies to our Prime Ministers. Citizens and
passionate supporters contribute to this severe power trip because they create the notion that

Silas Brady s Narrative
With a snap of the reins and a click of his tongue, Silas Brady coaxed his horse into a faster pace,
causing the tiny yellow house on wheels to lurch and rumble behind him. His instincts detected
potential business as his professional eye admired the quaint scene at the bottom of the hill: a
clapboard house and barn, a small corral, and a large plot of land ready for planting. From his
position, the bright green canopy of an oak peeked above the roofline of the house. Aside from a
single grazing cow, the homestead was quiet and still. A tall, fair haired man of middling years
approached from behind the house to wait at the bottom of the porch steps though the lack of a
customary greeting was glaringly obvious. As a precaution, Silas stopped his wagon a short distance
while he set the brake and adopted a friendly mien knowing that an aggressive manner was
counterproductive for business. Good day to you! The name s Silas Brady, photographer by trade, he

The new contractors were very experienced at working with concrete, but lacked the knowledge and

of a labour management contract, which puts them in charge of the labour, but all the engineering
decisions were still up to World Service Constructions. This lead to confusion and lack of
communication between the parties working on the construction of the bridge. Four months prior to
the collapse, a similar design of bridge, also designed by Freeman Fox Partners, collapsed in Milford

that the design of the Westgate was perfectly safe, but was not supported by any relevant or sufficient

A simple intranet consists of an internal email system and perhaps a message board service. More
sophisticated intranets include Web sites and databases containing company news, forms, and

internal Web sites, documents, and or databases. The business value of intranet solutions is generally

Sandburg And Heaney
Poetry of War War causes human beings to experience many different emotions. Civilian bystanders
and military members become uneasy, restless, and anxious. Also, like in every war, sacrifices are
made and lives are lost. Carl Sandburg and Seamus Heaney do a great job interpreting the feelings and
emotions felt during and between times of war in their two poems, Grass (Sandburg) and From the
Frontier of Writing (Heaney). Though both poems are on similar topics, the authors use different
literary techniques to get their point across to their audience. The poems may be very similar in the
literal meaning because both poems use war as the topic, but they have different figurative ideas that
are hidden behind the powerful text. Both Carl Sandburg ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title From the Frontier of Writing comes from the frontier from one country to another. In a time
of war one can say that most writing and stories come from the frontier and beyond. Most people that
are not directly involved want to know what is happening and want to see writings and stories of those
directly experiencing the effects of war. All of the action is taking place at and beyond this frontier ,
thus it is the point Heaney chooses to discuss because it is the first point that those not affiliated with
and directly threatened by war. In From the Frontier of Writing , a person is speaking from experience
of the passing of an entry control point at the border of one country to another. In the statements
through out the poem, Towards your window (4) and suddenly you re through (19), he uses the second
point of view as a way to tell readers his personal experience and instruct one on how the passing of
that checkpoint might go. The speaker feels a sense of anxiety and nervousness while being stopped
due to the guns on tripods . When going through any military checkpoint or entry control point, it can
cause one to experience many different emotions and feelings of powerlessness, anxiety, violation, and
fear, even when that person may have nothing to

Strong competition in the toy retailing business is a concern as strategies adopted by peers can impair
the growth of the company. Toys R Us competes with a number of retailers, including other toy
retailers, discounters, and catalog and internet businesses.
In recent times, price wars have been the most prominent of the competitive strategies. Especially
during the holiday season, price wars in the toy retailing market become more intense. For instance, in
October 2011, Wal Mart announced layaway (a service where customers can purchase a product
without paying the entire cost at once) on toys during the holiday season. This is the first time Wal
Mart announced this since 2006. In addition, Wal Mart also cut prices on a number of toys during the
holiday season. Also, Target has aggressively slashed prices on toys during holiday season to lure
shoppers. Target slashed prices on a number of hot toys, undercutting Wal Mart by nearly 19%. These
price wars have been forcing Toys R Us to also adopt an aggressive pricing strategy to avoid customer
loss. Furthermore, several non specialist retailers have also increased the space for selling children and
infant products. The entry of new players in the industry is also expected to further fuel the
competition. The growing competition in the toys retailing industry can make Toys R Us results of
operations more sensitive to the competitive pricing practices and effecting its profit

Along the same lines, a fixed camera with pan tilt zoom capability can be placed inside a burn
building during a training session and can be controlled from a remote location. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; From an application standpoint, the telemetry system might include the ability to operate
multiple cameras in a single scene. For example, in the case of a search amp; rescue, there could be
multiple camera men looking for victims. In this case, the command center can keep track of
individuals inside by seeing the same image in the telemetry system as the firefighter sees in his
camera. In other applications, the telemetry system might be required to be secure. In other words,
there are situations where the transmitted information should only be received by the intended party
and not be picked up by a local television crew or other unintended users. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp;Another application of the telemetry system is on ladder trucks. Typically, a ladder truck that has
a hose attachement is used to spray water from the roof. The problem is that the water is sprayed
without knowing exactly where the water is going. Consider a situation where a TIC on a pan tilt
zoom control can be placed on the end of a ladder. At the bottom of the ladder, the firefighter will then
be able to see where the water from the hose is being sprayed and be able to control the water stream.

The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening Essay
The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the female
protagonist, Edna Pontellier, learns about the world. Unfortunately for Edna, the world is defined in
terms of love and marriage. This female awakening is really an awakening to limitations (Bloom 43).
If read as a suicide, then Edna s last swim is a consequence of her awakening to the limitations of her
femaleness in a male dominant society. But on a metaphysical level, The Awakening s final scene can
be seen as Edna s ultimate gesture in trying to grasp the essence of her being. This essay will show
that Edna s spiritual journey both begins and ends in the sea.. In the early chapters, Edna is referred to

The sea, in this case, symbolizes samsara, the cyclical rebirths of existence, and is a product of
ignorance and the failure to recognize the impermanent nature of things. On the other shore lies
another rebirth. And it is by the sea that Kate Chopin first pulls Edna out from the narrative and gives
her an ego by referring to her by her given name and, after walking through a sea of grass, recounts
Edna s previous love interests the cavalry officer, a young gentleman, and the tragedian attachments of
previous reincarnations. In other words, Edna s self is born here by inward contemplation , with the
aid of the seductive odor and sonorous murmur of the sea and its loving but imperative entreaty
(Chopin 56 7). The objects of her previous attachments were men, or perhaps her desire for the men of
her past. In Edna s present lifetime on Grand Isle, her attachment is to Robert Lebrun, who draws
Edna s ego to its fullest from Chopin s narrative and makes Edna s suffering more intense and
tangible. Shortly after the reader meets Robert Lebrun and realizes that Edna Pontellier is strangely
drawn to the young man (Chopin 56) the seed of Edna s attachment is thus planted Chopin prepares a

7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Analysis
The purpose of Sean Covey s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is to inform teens on making better
choices for a better and healthier lifestyle. In the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, the author
gives seven habits and explains each one and how you can apply them to your life. If all these habits
are applied to your life you will be much happier and in order. With these applied in your life you can
also find yourself doing good things for other people, in trouble a lot less, and making better choices
for yourself and others. These seven habits that you can apply to your life are, be proactive, begin with
the end in mind, put first things first, think win win, seek first to understand, then to be understood,
synergize, and sharpen the saw.
Habit one, be proactive, is about having a can do attitude and not being reactive. Habit one explains
what being proactive is and what being reactive is. Being proactive is about more than taking
initiative. It is recognizing that we are responsible for our own choices, and we have the freedom to
choose based on principles and values rather than on moods or conditions. Proactive people choose
not to be victims, to be reactive, or to blame others. Habit one comes first because it is the key to
unlocking all the other habits. Being proactive is about taking responsibility and not blaming others.
Applying habit one helps us with being less reactive and more proactive in your life.
In addition, habit two, begin with the end in mind, is about planning ahead and setting goals for
yourself. As the author states in the book, Habit 2 is based on imagination the ability to envision in
your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things are
created twice. Beginning with the end in mind means to begin each day or task with a clear vision of
your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make
things happen. It also means developing a clear picture of where you want to go with your life. The
paths you choose now can affect your future forever ,so beginning with the end in mind can help with
making better choices for your future.
Next, is habit three, put first things first.

In the pleasant description, I discussed the chirping of birds. I have discussed the sounds of water in
the fountain and the rustling of leaves due to cool breeze. This description emphasizes the fact that the
weather out there is very pleasant and the people sitting there are relishing the moments. While the
leaves rustling was creating an amazing environment, there were also some dead leaves in the fountain
decaying over days and months contaminating the environment.
I also skipped some details in order to maintain the mood and tone. In my pleasant description, I
skipped the dead and decaying leaves settled in the fountain bottom, while discussing the stream of
water rising from the fountain. The reader could have got a negative impact of a good place had I
mentioned the garbage details in the positive description.
Similes and metaphors also helped me writing the description. The water from fountain crafting a
magical melody depicts the beautiful environment out there. The rustle of leaves portrays the grace of
nature. The bright colors of flowers have strong resemblance with juvenile period of human being,
which makes the description more pleasant. Similarly, gloominess specifies sadness in the negative
description.

How Does Headgear Affect Soccer Players
Headgear Can Help Reduce Injuries in Soccer`1 4% 20% of all injuries in soccer are head injuries.
Concussion and head injuries are a big part of soccer, many younger players should have to wear
protective headgear while playing. Also, many of these head injuries that players sustained during
soccer can affect them for the rest of their life with things such as CTE. Even though many people don
t want to change the game of soccer, at a certain age players should have to wear headgear if they want
to head the ball because the brain damage kids can get from heading the ball can affect them for life,
and it would decrease the amount of concussions the sport has per year. Concussions have been a big
part of soccer for a while now, but have only come into attention within the last decade. Many players

important because many people are ill informed on the head injuries in soccer. With so many head
injuries and no protection the game is more dangerous than many think. For example as player may go
for the ball and and collide heads with another player get a head injury and keep playing (Contact 2).
This matters because more and more players may get head injuries and are not preventing it with
headgear or other things like that. Therefore many people will still be getting concussions and
possibly CTE for a sport that is not known for its head

Use Of Technology And Social Media
The use of technology and social media makes our life a lot easier. Social media and technology play a
huge role in our everyday life and friendship. In today s world, people, mostly teenagers use social
media and technology every day to communicate and interact with others. Technology gives us an
opportunity to connect with anybody we want from anywhere we are, saving us time. According to
Daily News 84 percent of people worldwide say they couldn t go a single day without their mobile
device in their hand. That means almost everybody uses their phone in order to communicate and stay
updated. I use my phone every single day and I cannot imagine living my life without a smartphone. I
go on social media websites every day to connect with friends and see what they are doing. It is the
fastest way to interact with friends and I love technology for that. A couple decades ago people didn t
have good communication devices therefore it was much harder for them to connect with each other.
Technology makes it much more convenient and easy for us to use, saving us a lot of time. Having
technology makes our life easier and at the same time virtual. It is very convenient and just normal for
our society to use it everyday. In my opinion modern technology provides more options and
opportunities to connect with our friends. I really don t think that technology and social media ruin our
friendships like most people would say. It all depends on how you use it. Technology and Social

A Summary Of Homer sThe Odyssey And The Holy Bible
Homer s The Odyssey and The Holy Bible are writings from the ancient civilizations. The proximity
regarding similar narratives between the two publications has produced curiosity in inquiring minds.
Interchangeable associations of both texts have prompted an investigation to explain why this literary
phenomenon has occurred.
In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythical narratives began to erupt for the
purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena. Greek
chronicles included the gods/goddesses, heroes, and non human creatures.
Unlike Mythology, The Bible s narratives are actual events that took place dating back to the
beginning of time. The conception of The Holy Bible s compilation started thousands of years ago in
the land of Egypt. Initially, The Old Testament Scriptures were written in the Hebrew language,
however, they were later translated to the Greek. At the onset of The New Testament writings, they
were originally recorded in the Greek language. Forty men transcribed the voice of God which
resulted in sixty six books of The Holy Bible. The Holy Scriptures explained the creations, formation
of the world, God, God s chosen peoples, sin, and the plan of salvation as well.
Homer s The Odyssey, is an epic poem of mythology which includes twenty four books. The ancient
writings focused its topics of discussions on the Trojan War, a hero named Odysseus, and the
challenges he faced throughout his journey home.

Management Theories Of Management Theory
Management Theories Evolution
Management practice cannot exist without the support of a theory. The complex character of
management as the scholarly discipline, the variety of opinions concerning the essence and content of
management theory, require systematizing knowledge about this phenomenon. Management theory is
a relatively new science since its systematic development and academic research has started mostly in
the 20th century. Although it is difficult to name the most important theories and principles of
management developed throughout all the history of management theory, since such views can be
quite subjective, basing on the research it is possible to point out the ones that made the most
considerable contribution to its development. This essay will tackle some of the key management
milestones and point out their peculiarities, importance, and possible limitations.
Evolution of Management Theory: Five Important Milestones
In the 20th century, the science of management emerged and evolved due to the necessity to solve
practical problems in the sphere of production, therefore, there was an active study of elective forms
and methods of management, and the profession of a manager became a separate activity requiring
corresponding skills and knowledge.
Taylor s Principles of Scientific Management
Frederick Winslow Taylor can be called the founder of the science of social management, with his
fundamental work The Principles of Scientific Management . At that time,

Blank Verses in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Essay
Epic, Passionate and Poetic. Romeo and Juliet is written in blank verse. This simply means unrhymed
iambic pentameter. For example, Two households, both alike in dignity In fair Verona, where we lay
our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star crossed lovers take their life. It may seem
melodramatic , but it s perfect for the play. Shakespeare makes it work by the plot actually living up to
the hype (Romeo and Juliet Writing Style). It truly entices the heart of the reader as they empathize

Shakespeare really stresses in all these scenes the ease in which messages can go wrong (Huntley).
When Romeo finds out about Juliet s death he believes he has all the facts. He suddenly makes the
decision to kill himself, aided by poison. Romeos best speech is perhaps the one he delivers in the
tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans and executes (Huntley).
The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all throughout music, literature, dance, and
theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense alternation of mood that enliven the speech.
Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him
advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is
not this better now than groaning for love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art
thou what thou art, by art as well as by nature. These words are also said to be the most ironic. Romeo
here has not found his identity and doesn t truly find it except for in those spontaneous moments he
shares with Juliet. Mercutio has plenty dialogue but is commonly known for his passionate repetition
of A plague a both your houses! right before his death. The main concern for the two lovers though is
keeping their marriage secret. They hope to one day bring peace among the feuding families but are
distraught. In Juliet s balcony speech you hear this concern. O

New South Wales s Impact On Social And Economic Development
New South Wales was given self government because of social, economical and political development
in the 19th century that would change society. In 1810, Lachlan Macquarie became the Governor of
New South Wales creating tremendous impact for social and economic development. Macquarie was
the last autocratic Governor of New South Wales from 1819 1821, as New South Wales would
transition from a penal colony to a self governed society. Macquarie established economic growth in
many forms as public works, churches and charitable institutions creating employment and commerce.
He also sought a strong relationship with the Aborigines that helped create peace unity with the
Europeans that would settle in New South Wales. In 1810 1850, the social and political development
in New South Wales saw a rise in squattocracy and the formation of political groups in Sydney with
new demands. It remains significant to explore why New South Wales was given self government with

The Master Of Suspense By Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock is an auteur who made fifty three feature length films in his career: all of which are
thrilling and captivating. He garnered the title of the Master of Suspense because he took delight in
frightening viewers (Lehman and Luhr 88). His legacy is still revered today because his works are
both financially successful and artistically acclaimed (Sterritt 1). Like any artists who has produced an
impressive amount of art, he has a number of distinctive styles and themes he uses in his films to
make them engaging. Common technical and artistic Hithcockian signatures that prevailing in North

This, of course, is a very common nature of auteurs, as Lehman and Leur points out in Thinking About
Films that collaboration does not prevent an individual from exerting enough control over the process
to shape a film (79). Each director has a different filmmaking process, and it is clear from watching
Psycho and North that Hitchcock s films have overriding obsessions that are explored in different
ways despite how stylistically different these two films may seem initially. The production and general
visual styles of both films are vastly opposites. North is a very expensive project involving many sets
(such as hotels, lodges, the United Nations Headquarters, train station, Mount Rushmore, and an
artificial forest), containing many extras, and indulges in the architecture of different buildings. It is
fast paced, colorful, witty, and includes a car chase, a fight scene, an explosion involving a plane and
an oil tank on a flatland. This film also has the luxury of capturing extreme long shots from the top of
the UN building to the vast landscape of the American farmlands. Psycho is more simple in all the
aspects mentioned earlier. While it is made one year after North, it is deliberately filmed in black and
white with only the necessary amount of sets and extras. Psycho allows Hitchcock to exercise his
stylistic chops as it evokes elements of noir;

The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk Fighters Essay
The Curtiss P 40 Warhawk was a single engine, single seat, metal fighter plane and ground attack
aircraft that was made by the Americans. The P 40 Warhawk fighters first flew in 1938 and caught the
attention of the United States Army Air Corps, who placed the largest fighter plane order it had ever
made for fighters for a count of 524 at a cost of US$13 million. This was the earliest serious fighter in
WWII and did its job until better fighters came out. It was known as a safe and secure aircraft that was
able to fly pilots back home after being shot up in action. Many variants of this plane were later
created. In addition, the shark teeth graphics were a big feature on this plane. The first flight of the

A P 40 would out roll a Zero at high speeds, and a good P 40 pilot could use this to great effect if the

faster. Therefore, the P 40 pilot could always break off an attack. The P 40, of course, had an even
greater advantage in diving speeds, with well over 400 miles per hour attainable with no risk of
damage to the planes strong airframe. Early Zero s couldn t hit 350 miles per hour without the risk of
damage to their plane. To get back on topic of the P 40 s design, the P 40 s rudder had red, white, and
blue stripes. The engine cowling had a large shark mouth and eye. There were actually only 199 P 40s
made. The rest were variants of it. The next step in the P 40 developmental stage was the P 40A. The P
40A received a camera installation near the rear of the fuselage. The P 40B received a better protected
fuel system to keep it from possibly being blown up. The P 40C then was given the ability to carry
bombs and received self sealing gas tanks. Less than 50 P 40 Ds were made, and they basically got a

The Two Purposes Of Teacher Evaluation
Summarizing the Handbook The two purposes of teacher evaluation are to ensure teacher quality and
promote professional learning. In order to thoroughly address how the instruments and protocols
offered in the book support and align with the two purposes of teacher evaluation evidence of practice
must be first taken into consideration. The framework uses evidence in order to evaluate teacher
performance. According to Danielson (2008), the term evidence is intended to convey the
conversations about teaching and must be grounded in actual events, in actions or statements in
artifacts, or in decisions a teacher has made (p. 1). Evidence can come from formal and informal
observations, and/or the examination of artifacts. Teacher observations serve as an essential purpose
since it allows the observer to gain an understanding of the learning environment, rapport and
interaction the teacher has established inside the classroom. It also allows the observer to gather
evidence regarding student engagement and learning outcomes. Furthermore, observation of
classroom practice with the accompanying pre conference and post conference, provide the best
evidence of Domains 1, 2, and 3 of the framework for teaching: Planning and Preparation, the
Classroom Environment, and Instruction (Danielson, 2008, p. 2). However, evidence of Domain 4:
Professional Responsibilities demonstrate skills of maintaining student records, actively

The early 1900s included a social trend building in the public view toward prohibition of alcohol that
manifested itself in the form of the temperance movement.5 This movement was led greatly by the
Anti Saloon League and the Women s Christian Temperance Union, who believe prohibition could
solve many of the problems that had been left behind from the social causes of the progressive union.2
Many women advocated throughout the use of science that alcohol was bad for health , and that it
corroded family life and weakened society. 1 Industrialist also supported prohibition because they

Theology 205 By Edward Lewis
Lewis essay relates to this course as Theology provides a perspective on understanding creation, the
transcendent power, and humanity around us. He acknowledges that multiple viewpoints exist from
the inside and outside perspectives. Also, one cannot ignore or discount specific inside experiences as
it helps us think about something. Therefore, in Theology 205, there will inevitably be many ways to
understand life, our purpose, and the people we are becoming. We are also covering the Bible in

beam if they are familiar with its interpretations. The students who will look along the beam are those
who are Christian or Jew, since they already use the Bible as some guidance in life. In contrast, those
who look at the beam are ones who are new to this subject, those willing to view this course from a
new lens, and those who do not practice Christianity or Judaism. ... Show more content on

inside experiences that shape how we think about something. Williams character tells the boy that he
does not truly know anything about him just from looking on the outside, so his judgments are invalid.
He must truly experience and look along the beam in order to fully understand what Williams
character went

John Wyndham s The Chrysalids

of protection has initiated the growth of an uneducated society. But what s got them so agitated about
us is nothing shows. We ve been living among them for nearly twenty years and they didn t suspect it.
We could pass for normal anywhere. (Wyndham 131) In this quote them is referring to members of the
Waknuk community, explaining why the discovery of Petra, David and Rosalind s telepathic powers
have unsettled everyone. Blasphemies that cannot be seen physically can easily be passed off as
normal which unleashed a lingering sense of uncertainty

Introduction During the course of human history, fungi has always been used as food and exploited to preserve and ferment beverages and foods. By the twentieth century, we had learned to protect human health by harnessing fung (immunosuppressive agents, anti cholesterol statins and antibiotics), while industries made us of fungi to support large scale production of acids, biosurfactants and enzymes. In the 1980 s, with the dawn of fresh nanotechnology, fungi had remained important by being able to synthesize nanoparticles. Nanoparticles or nanomaterials are materials including particles or constituents that are of nanoscale proportions, or something that has been produced via nanotechnology. Biologically hazardous or environmentally toxic reducing agents are normally associated in the nanoparticles chemical synthesis. Today, the growth of eco friendly and reliable methods for the production of nanomaterials is a vital facet of nanotechnology. One such approach that has shown potential beyond measure is centred on the use of biological micro organisms, such as fungi for the biosynthesis of these nanoparticles. Fungi can invariably be used for the synthesizing of metallic nanoparticles from their salt, since fungi contain enzymes and proteins as reducing agents. Should be cautious while handling them during experiments, as some fungi are disease causing. Fungal biomass generally grows quicker than that of bacteria in consistent conditions. While production of metal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Antidepressants And The Monoamine Theory Of Depression 1. Introduction 1.1. Depression: definition, symptoms and classification Depression is defined by the DSM IV as a mental disorder characterized by sustained depression of mood, anhedonia, sleep and appetite disturbances, feelings of worthlessness, guilt, and hopelessness. Depressive symptoms such as the mere inability to experience pleasure and loss of energy persisting for longer than two weeks are usually enough to indicate an affective disorder (Hirschfeld 2014). There are significant variations in presentations and diagnosis criteria, but regardless of the classification of depressive states (Major (Unipolar), Bipolar, Dysthymia, Atypical, SAD, Postpartum), it is agreed upon that pharmacological interventions are sometimes required: to alleviate debilitating symptoms and improve patients quality of life. Everyone has their reasons some no one understand. But in other cases we feel as if we were in that situation we would have done things the same way. In Beowulf I think Grendel s mother was morally right in seeking vengeance. I believe that Grendel s mother was right for many reasons. If you were a mother who just lost a child you would have hate in you heart, you would want the person who caused the lost of your child to pay for what he or she has done. You would want them to feel just as much pain as you did. So just think how Grendel s mother felt to find out her son had been killed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story begins with an introduction narrated by Death personified. I ve found that unlike the many times I ve read about this being and their thought process , this one is almost kinder in a way. It is not a heartless being that has merely grown bored of it s eternal task, it feels sympathy for those he effects, both directly and indirectly. It seems to take an almost childish interest in the main protagonist, Liesel Meminger, one filled with innocence and curiosity. As for her, I have found myself feeling a great deal of both sympathy and empathy for her. On her way to her foster parents home, her 6 year old brother, Werner, falls ill and dies right in front of her, and they, she and her mother, are forced to bury him in a graveyard along the railroad tracks. This is where she steals her first book, The Gravedigger s Handbook. Once she arrives at her new home, 33 Himmel Street in Molching, Germany, she meets her foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. The concept of one person having all the power has been in the world for decades now and yet, the outcome is always the same: degrading integrity and crookedness. In some of the most severe examples, there has even been death involved. Although, Canada s Parliament has not reached that point of harshness and might never, corruption has taken place within our government and as a result of this, public policy has suffered. As the polls on election night come to a close, the title of Prime Minister is granted to one person who receives the opportunity to run their country. The notion of giving one individual such intense power has created a downfall within our society and therefore causing damage in areas of public policy that one person cannot be fully knowledgeable in thus leading to corruption. Therefore, their decisions and actions should benefit everyone, but it does not always work that way. The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening Essay The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the female protagonist, Edna Pontellier, learns about the world. Unfortunately for Edna, the world is defined in terms of love and marriage. This female awakening is really an awakening to limitations (Bloom 43). If read as a suicide, then Edna s last swim is a consequence of her awakening to the limitations of her femaleness in a male dominant society. But on a metaphysical level, The Awakening s final scene can be seen as Edna s ultimate gesture in trying to grasp the essence of her being. The sea, in this case, symbolizes samsara, the cyclical rebirths of existence, and is a product of ignorance and the failure to recognize the impermanent nature of things. On the other shore lies another rebirth. And it is by the sea that Kate Chopin first pulls Edna out from the narrative and gives her an ego by referring to her by her given name and, after walking through a sea of grass, recounts Edna s previous love interests the cavalry officer, a young gentleman, and the tragedian attachments of previous reincarnations. In other words, Edna s self is born here by inward contemplation , with the aid of the seductive odor and sonorous murmur of the sea and its loving but imperative entreaty (Chopin 56 7). The objects of her previous attachments were men, or perhaps her desire for the men of her past. In Edna s present lifetime on Grand Isle, her attachment is to Robert Lebrun, who draws Edna s ego to its fullest from Chopin s narrative and makes Edna s suffering more intense and tangible. Shortly after the reader meets Robert Lebrun and realizes that Edna Pontellier is strangely drawn to the young man (Chopin 56) the seed of Edna s attachment is thus planted Chopin prepares a series of ... The proximity regarding similar narratives between the two publications has produced curiosity in inquiring minds. Interchangeable associations of both texts have prompted an investigation to explain why this literary phenomenon has occurred. In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythical narratives began to erupt for the purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena. Greek chronicles included the gods/goddesses, heroes, and non human creatures. Unlike Mythology, The Bible s narratives are actual events that took place dating back to the beginning of time. The conception of The Holy Bible s compilation started thousands of years ago in the land of Egypt. Initially, The Old Testament Scriptures were written in the Hebrew language, however, they were later translated to the Greek. At the onset of The New Testament writings, they were originally recorded in the Greek language. Forty men transcribed the voice of God which resulted in sixty six books of The Holy Bible. Romeos best speech is perhaps the one he delivers in the tomb; with it he gives dignity, meaning, and finality to the one act he plans and executes (Huntley). The speech and characters of the play have been depicted all throughout music, literature, dance, and theater. There s a certain musical flow and intense alternation of mood that enliven the speech. Mercutio is a big part of this. When Romeo needs guidance, Mercutio is there quickly giving him advice worth hearing. In fact, some believe the wisest words in the entire play are said by him. Why, is not this better now than groaning for love? Now art though sociable, now art thou Romeo; Now art thou what thou art, by art as well as by nature. Each director has a different filmmaking process, and it is clear from watching Psycho and North that Hitchcock s films have overriding obsessions that are explored in different ways despite how stylistically different these two films may seem initially. The production and general visual styles of both films are vastly opposites. North is a very expensive project involving many sets (such as hotels, lodges, the United Nations Headquarters, train station, Mount Rushmore, and an artificial forest), containing many extras, and indulges in the architecture of different buildings. It is fast paced, colorful, witty, and includes a car chase, a fight scene, an explosion involving a plane and an oil tank on a flatland. This film also has the luxury of capturing extreme long shots from the top of the UN building to the vast landscape of the American farmlands. • 38. The Two Purposes Of Teacher Evaluation Summarizing the Handbook The two purposes of teacher evaluation are to ensure teacher quality and promote professional learning. In order to thoroughly address how the instruments and protocols offered in the book support and align with the two purposes of teacher evaluation evidence of practice must be first taken into consideration. The framework uses evidence in order to evaluate teacher performance. According to Danielson (2008), the term evidence is intended to convey the conversations about teaching and must be grounded in actual events, in actions or statements in artifacts, or in decisions a teacher has made (p. 1). Evidence can come from formal and informal observations, and/or the examination of artifacts. Teacher observations serve as an essential purpose since it allows the observer to gain an understanding of the learning environment, rapport and interaction the teacher has established inside the classroom. It also allows the observer to gather evidence regarding student engagement and learning outcomes. Furthermore, observation of classroom practice with the accompanying pre conference and post conference, provide the best evidence of Domains 1, 2, and 3 of the framework for teaching: Planning and Preparation, the Classroom Environment, and Instruction (Danielson, 2008, p. 2). He acknowledges that multiple viewpoints exist from the inside and outside perspectives. Also, one cannot ignore or discount specific inside experiences as it helps us think about something. Therefore, in Theology 205, there will inevitably be many ways to understand life, our purpose, and the people we are becoming. We are also covering the Bible in depth, so some of us will look at the beam if they have never read it, while others will look along the beam if they are familiar with its interpretations. The students who will look along the beam are those who are Christian or Jew, since they already use the Bible as some guidance in life.
