Edited by: Paul Kramer
Submitted by: Tiffany Joy A. Candelaria
2 History
I. Brief Summary
This book is an autobiography of a man who became The Emperor of the Manchu Dynasty, at two years of age, named Henry
Pu Yi. He lived a life as an emperor up until China s government became republic and seized his powers. Until then, he
continued his life back in Tientsin and tried to continue his legacy by being head of a Japanese puppet state. In spite of all his
hard work, he still encountered a lot of temptations along the way and problems which is the hardest to solve. This story
narrates the unusual social transitions of a man who was born ordinary, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yuan Shikai agreed to the Republic and forced the last emperor of China, Henry Puyi, to abdicate on February 12.
V. Narration
After being selected as the Last Emperor of China by the ill Empress Dowager Tzu Hsi, Henry Pu yi at his childhood lived a
lavish life not knowing of what obligations will face him in growing up. At the age of 6 in the year of 1912, China converts to
republic and the Ching Dynasty was forced to abdicate.
As Pu Yi grows up he was free to do whatever he wants, living the life of an emperor but was locked up in the Forbidden City
deprived of the modern customs. Guided by the British Tutor, Reginald Johnston, Pu Yi became so captivated to foreigners
and believed of them as the wisest and most civilized. Thus made him interested in Western things, and came up with his
English name Henry . He was married at 18 with two wives, Wen Hsiu and Wan Jung.
On November 5, 1924 officials entered the palace with a revision of the Articles of Favorable Treatment that stated, the
Emperor s position shall be abolished making Pu yi an ordinary citizen. He was required to abandon the Forbidden City and
sought asylum from the Japanese Embassy and soon was sent to Tientsin.
It was in Tientsin that Pu Yi decided to go abroad but ended up staying there for seven years, in which he wavered back and
forth between different factions among his advisers.
In 1931, Japan occupied Machuria and Pu Yi was asked to be the Chief Executive and soon

Rhetorical Analysis of The Killer Instinct
Rhetorical analysis of The Killer Instinct (January 2000) The Killer Instinct is an article published in A Monthly Journal of
Religion Public Life by Institute on Religion Public life in January 2000. This journal, which started from 1998, contains
various articles with opinions, arguments, debates and commentary on religious and moral questions, and social issues going
in American society. Thomas Sally, a poet and a writer, argues in the article that it s the nature of boys who constructs them
rough and not the toys that create them violent. She argues with various examples from her friends and even from her own
experience throughout the article making clear sense of support to her argument. This article by Thomas Sally is a successful
argument appealing toward its audience with a clear and strong use of reasoning(logos), emotion(pathos) and authority(ethos)
. Thomas Sally s appeal to logic is the strongest persuasive proof to her argument. The motive for her use of reasoning is
strong due to the explanation of suitable examples from her real life experience on the subject. Thomas Sally explains, by
reasoning, at the beginning paragraphs that a boy enjoys the warlike fascination of slashing shooting and even punching if
they don t find anything. Thomas Sally uses logos as, We don t tell someone struggling with lust simply not to want sex; we
don t tell a glutton that his problems will be solved if he stops being hungry. This is a clear logical

Fantine And Cosette
Though Jean valjean struggles and conflicts only got more strenuous, he still continued, if not to an even greater extent, his
selfless devotion to the ill fated members of society. The exemplary heroism, compassion, and love of Jean Valjean s character
was further deepened through the meeting of Cosette and Fantine. The mother and daughter both express a cry for help, a call
which although difficult to answer, was dutifully plowed after by Jean Valjean.
Fantine is a reflection of the horrific outcome of French society. Exploited by the thenardiers, and undoubtedly naive to the
intentions of others, she is the weak prey oblivious of her predators. Jean Valjean steps into her life, and by doing so, he
cultivates a strong empathy for her situation, one which is quite familiar to himself. Fantine causes Jean Valjean to look back
at the character of his darkest days, and thus, make a decision to firmly not revert back to his old ways. In fact, she is the
embodiment of a part of a debt to society he must pay, and so Jean Valjean is determined to help Fantine in any way he can.
Likewise, he pursues the recovery of her daughter Cosette in order to achieve completion of her final wish. Fantine impacts
Jean Valjean by acting like a mirror for his personal flaws, and continued to spark the seemingly never ending selfless drive to
make up for them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her effect on him is almost magical, and within him reblooms a fatherly nature, long lost since the times with his sister s
children. Jean Valjean nurtures and treats Cosette like his own, and her presence creates a connection of love which neither
Jean Valjean, nor Cosette have yet to feel. It is not only the fact that he is bonded by his task sent by Fantine but rather, the
most intense empathy and compassion for the young

Hedda Gabler Role In Society
In the play Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen has clearly shown the audience how the end of the 19th century has influenced his
own portrayal of his characters and their role in society. It is important to take into consideration the expectations placed upon
women at that time and to understand the limited roles they had to play in society. However in Ibsen s play, he has decided to
show an ideal society by giving a greater amount of freedom to women by showing them to be more independent. These
ideologies have been shown through the character of Hedda Gabler and the play is a reaction to how society would react to a
woman with such liberties . Through the setting of the play, the feeling of entrapment of Hedda Gabler is going to be
explored: a feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Mrs. Elvsted leaves a bouquet of flowers on the piano, it s a symbol of gratitude. I believe that the flowers depict
relationships that Hedda has with people. However by the end of act 2 most of the flowers have been removed showing that
her relationships with other characters have become limited. This is further brought across through to the audience because
they are placed in glasses and vases which are very fragile objects; ones that can easily be broken just like Hedda s
relationships with other people. This could be one of the reasons why she decides to take her own life with the pistol. Her
relations with other people gradually dissipate and she believes that no one understands her as she has different perspectives.
The feeling of frustration and anger could have been the root emotions that took her

The Social Problem Of The Video Separate And Unequal Is...
The social problem shown in the video Separate and Unequal is poverty and racism. This video focuses specifically on
Jackson, Mississippi. This video takes a look at Lanier High School and some of the student s experiences and difficulties in
this school due to poverty in this town. Jackson Mississippi is 70% black and Lanier High School is 100% black students.
Everything started to go downhill for this community after integration occurred. Black students left their school and went to a
more diverse school. But no one chose to come to Lanier High School or Jackson due to how run down the community and
school was. Therefore the community only suffered. Manuel is a student at Lanier High School. He does not have a father
figure and his mother is not in good condition due to her stroke, so he has to take care of her. He struggles in school with his
grades and authority from the teachers. He plays on the basketball team but always fights with his coach because he is not
used to male authority. He is kicked off of the team and ends up failing tenth grade. He then roams the streets with his buddies
and his mom is very worried he ll end up in jail or even worse, death. He is a prime example of how poverty in his family and
community affect him directly. Alicia is a teen mom at Lanier High School. She is raising her baby with the help of her
mother because the father is in jail. She struggles in school due to providing for her baby and ends up dropping out. She

Who Is Miley A Hero
Miley Cyrus was an inspiring performer that almost all little girls, who grew up in the 2000 s, looked up to at some point. In
the book Miles To Go, Miley talks about how she went from no one to someone and the hardships she faced along the way.
During Miley s years of playing Hannah Montana, she wrote incredible music, had a unique wardrobe, and was someone that
any parent would be proud of because their kid looked up to her. All in all, she was well rounded and had a special gift of
singing that once she shared it with the whole world, everyone instantly adored her. It definitely was not easy for Miley Cyrus

Enthalpy Change Lab Report
Applying Calorimetry to Determine the Enthalpy Change for the Dissolution of a Salt
Calorimetry is the measurement of the amount of thermal energy that is released or absorbed in a reaction and is used to
determine enthalpy change. Calorimetry also plays a significant role in daily life as it controls metabolic rates, and maintains
body temperature. (Calorimetry, 2016). Enthalpy change is valid on a daily basis, for example ice melting is an endothermic
reaction. Heat is added to the ice cube, which causes the water molecules to move around faster and for the ice to melt. (Heat
of fusion, 2017). Similarly, the vaporization of water is endothermic because heat is absorbed from the surroundings, allowing
the molecules to vibrate which then increases the space between them. (How atoms and molecules are affected by Heat, n.d.).

Beneficial Effects of Probiotics Essay
INTRODUCTION
Probiotics are ingestable microorganisms which gives the consumer a beneficial effect. First coined by the late eli
Metchnikoff probiotics are described to be microorganisms which are ingested in small amount to increase the diversity of
both flora and fauna inside the human body this reaction in turn affects the adaptation abilities for the human body to react to
different surroundings, digest different things, or just improve the antibody or the mechanism that already exists in the human
body.

The great Chinese philosopher Confucius stated, Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
When observing the transformation the United States has undergone over centuries, great reforms have been made.
Pinpointing a specific time is from 1890 to 1916. This period marks the transformation from the Gilded Age to the
Progressive Era. The Progressive Era arrived as a result of the social, political, and economic turbulence brought by the
industrialization that occurred during the Gilded Age. The imperative topics addressed during the transformation were the

Observation In High School
Looking out the window, anyone could see from the dark, shady sky, it was going to rain. It was the end of freshman year, end

however, wasn t in a group and kept to myself, in my corner by the window. I had no interest in studying and instead was
captivated by the dim, warms, of the outside world. As a freshman in highschool, I hated school and showed little interest in
it. Staring out the window, I had zoned out, then I was sitting outside under a large tree. The leaves rustling above me, shaking
side to side in a smooth swing. It s pretty bark, composed of multiple layers, dug into my back. Roots grabbed the earth, its
large knots exposed. The old bark felt rough, with its unique texture, furrowed and scaly. Moss had crawled its way up the

Medical Differences Between The Civil War And Spanish...
Nareg D Mr. Haveron Final Essay 16 March 2015 Medical Differences between the Civil War and Spanish American War The
nineteenth century held one of the most medically appalling wars, as well as one of the most medically innovative wars. The
Civil war is considered a terrible time period for medical equipment as well as surgeons. Many soldiers who had been fighting
in the Civil War were killed by sicknesses including diarrhea and pneumonia. Surgeons, who had minimum medical
experience, were taking care of the wounded soldiers at the time. The idea of sanitizing and sterilizing equipment that was
used on a patient beforehand was not known by the inexperienced surgeons. Only a few years later came the Spanish
American war, which showed a vast improvement in the medical field. During the Spanish American War many important
inventions were created. These include the invention of the x ray, the discovery of the germ theory, and the discovery of the
antiseptic method. Both of these discoveries made it much easier for Surgeons to operate on the wounded soldiers. Another
beneficial factor that made the Spanish American War more medically advanced then the civil war was the service of female
nurses. The Nurses provided a lot of help for the surgeons at times when there was a lot of work, and assistance was needed.
It is clear that the medicinal techniques used during the Civil War were much less advanced than those used during the
Spanish American War. The North

became hard and the color of mud. The water looked like lake water. Honestly, I felt like I was at the lake, other than I couldn
t see land on the other side looking out on the water. It grew better, too. The only thing close to seashells was little mussels
that we would dig into the sand. There wasn t any sand dollars, or anything fantastic like that. Although I had some

Human Relationships In The Mayor Of Casterbridge By Thomas...
Human relationships are so heavily complex due to fact that there are hostile and compassionate aspects to them. Also, these
complex relationships make it possible to be physically close to someone without being emotionally connected to them. This
is shown in the excerpt from The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy through the characters Mayor Henchard and his
daughter Elizabeth Jane. The Mayor and his daughter have a critical and unloving relationship resulting from their previous
estrangement and his judgmental personality. This relationship is also one sided because Elizabeth constantly tries to adhere

posses. As she wrote to his dislike, he says, Never mind I ll finish it. Thus, this again shows as Elizabeth attempts to please
her father s wishes he grows more distant and cold toward her. At the end of the passage it says, the more interesting that her
appearance and manners became....the more she seemed so estranged to him. This proves that the chance of Elizabeth making
her father proud is almost impossible because he remains closed minded toward her. The final use of the word estranged to
describe how her actions impacted their relationship shows that even though they live in the same house they are strangers on
an emotional level. The detailed encounters between Mayor Henchard and Elizabeth shows just how cold hearted and
unloving their alleged father daughter relationship is because he never tried to accept Elizabeth for who she was before they

fascination. That class was Botany where I had studied plants and learned their functions. I learned about how they grow from
a seed to how they reproduce. Even with that class, I have always found that plants bring a certain amount of curiosity. I had
dreamt many ways to the perfect yard with all sorts of plant species. The yard would be overflowing with plants. Also, the
house would have so many plants inside that it would be a jungle. The courses required for botany are very heavy with
science. I know that I will be taking fifteen different science classes. I looked forward to the challenges that each class will
bring. During the time in my freshman year, I would like to know what reading and writing, I will need for botany also known
as plant science.
I looked in greater detail into Botany, I came to very interesting details about what my major will include. I gathered all sorts
of facts from different sources about Botany. Plant science is a hand on very skilled profession. It requires a lot of experience
and skills to work in the basic field of it. Botany is very broad science of plants. Different scientist studies certain parts of
plants and their functions. Including their physiology, structure, genetics, ecology, distribution,

American Culture In The Namesake, By Jhumpa Lahiri
Culture is not just about race, family background, and inheritance. It is bigger than that. Characters and actor s choice are
significant to present this. Characters used in the book and movie relates. When I was reading the book, I had an idea of how
Ashima, Gogol, Ashoke looks. Most of those ideas were true. I thought Gogol would be better looking and darker shade skin.
Ashima is exactly what I thought she would look like. Ashoke is shown as this perfect husband, dad a provider. A lot of Gogol
s character is understood as it foreshadows when Gogol was six months old and during his Rice Ceremony, Gogol had to
choose between a dollar, a pen, and dirt. Each represents a different profession in the future. As it suggests to the future,
Gogol doesn t choose none of them and cries. We see the same thing when he is an adult, he chooses to embrace the culture he
grew up in, American Culture even thought he struggled to respect both cultures that are polar opposites of each other.
The novel The Namesake written by Jhumpa Lahiri writes about the struggle and hardships of a Bengali couple who
immigrate to the US from India to create a lifestyle outside of everything they have known all their lives. The story begins as
Ashoke marries Ashima and brings her to the Massachusetts. Their first child s name is Gogol, which they didn t intend on
naming initially but because of different mistakes, Gogol has officially become his name. This book/film gave a pleasant

Sustainability In New York City
A modern city must take the initiative to not only look at the immediate problems, but also foresee any problems that lie
ahead. Mega cities must maintain the social, geographical, and environmental aspects of a modern city. New York City is an
ever growing city that must adjust to the impending complications that lie ahead. New York City has taken many initiatives in
the twenty first century to try and improve the life of future New Yorkers. Mayor De Blasio has done a great job so far
enacting policies to ensure that New York City continues to be a global model for modern life in an urban city. The
conservation of the natural environment within an urban area can be an immediate challenge for any megacity, but it is very
important for sustainability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upholding a sustainable global influence makes New York City an example of leadership in international economics. If New
York City was its own country, it would rank as the 15th largest economy in the world. One of the most important aspects of
an influence on the global economy is the New York Stock Exchange. The New York Stock Exchange is seen as one of the
most lucrative securities exchange in the entire world. Monday through Friday the worlds largest companies take part in the
stock exchange in order to give the public an opportunity to hold and trade public equities. The New York Stock exchange can
influence the entire global economy through it s peaks and troughs of successes and failures. It is no secret that the New York
Stock Exchange has a large influence over the world, but it also serves a huge purpose in the sustainability of New York City.
Domestic and international business is what allows New York City to thrive. The large flow of money that goes in and out of
the stock market has a butterfly effect on the economy of New York City. Business in New York City maintains the subway
and train system, funds projects such as the preservation of infrastructure, and creates value in real estate in central districts.
Another aspect of maintaining a global influence is in the economic sector of tourism. Tourism is an easy way to ensure that
there is a cash flow that reaches to all areas of business.

Thomas Edison And The Light Bulb Essay
Everyone in their lifetime has heard the name Thomas Edison at least once. However, if you asked those same people why
Thomas Edison was so famous, ninety percent of the time they would tell you it was because he invented the light bulb, and
each of them would be completely wrong. Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb; in fact, someone had the idea for it
almost one hundred years before Mr. Edison was even born. To invent something means to come up with the idea in the first
place, as well as to actually carry it out.
In this paper I will give you insights into the life of Thomas Edison and explain why people get confused in thinking the light
bulb was his idea. He also had several other interesting experiments, and we will take a look at what people thought of them. I
believe Thomas Edison is one of the greatest minds that have ever existed on planet earth, and the rest of this paper will be
devoted to showing you why this is true.
If one stopped and thought about all the amazing and wonderful inventions that this world has ever seen, what would be
number one on that list? Most people in today s world would probably say items that they use on a daily basis. If we made a
list of what some people might say, it might include such things as automobiles, their new iPhone, advancements in medicine,
heaters, air conditioning, power tools, gaming systems, IPods, etc., and the list could go on and on.

Nationalism and Imperialism Whether it s nationalism and/or imperialism we are affected by these angles all through out our
lifetime, there are benefits to both nationalism and imperialism such that each can favorably support their nations respectively.
These two features can be very powerful forces that can bring a nation together in its greatest time of need but may be able to
subjugate another nation. By definition, nationalism is a patriotic feeling; an extreme case of nationalism is when a person
and/or country feel a strong sensation of dominance over one or more countries. In contrast imperialism can be defined as a
strategy that encompasses another countries authority and influence amongst mediation or by using military obligation.
Nationalism and imperialism both benefit society through their social, political and technological aspects. The social traits
pertaining to nationalism result in a nations unity usually formed through a significant event or in extreme cases of patriotism.
Similarly, imperialism is moreover affected by social attributes that may not be one specific event, but occurred over a longer
period of time. Nationalism creates a united front that in time produces a well governed nation For example the United States
of America is a nation that goes to extreme levels of promoting patriotism. The government advertises to the people to put the
country first before them. For instance Ask not

Persuasive Essay On Fake News
Almost 1.8 billion people use Facebook, and about half of American adults use as their main news source. According to
Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually
created to influence political views or as a joke. Currently, many people are debating over the problem of fake news. For
example, in the 2016 election, two candidates were chosen, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As many citizens possessed
different political views, some started to create posts and articles to try and change other s political opinions. As a result of
this, companies were criticized for not taking measures to reduce the amount of fake news. Later, companies started to take
control of their software, as it is essential to handle fake news as most people receive their information from these outlets.
Although some argue that the spread of fake news is the fault of the people who create it, it should be largely the company s
responsibility to control its spread; they should add algorithms to determine a post s validity.
During the 2016 presidential election, Facebook was greatly disparaged for not making an attempt to counter fake news.
Although Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Facebook had no connection with the outcome of the election, some thought
otherwise. For example, a man named Eric Tucker took a picture of a road filled with buses who he claimed were filled with
protesters who he thought would march against Donald

main objective of this research is to explain how the massive growth of the petroleum industry in Odessa came about and the
social changes that had occurred as a result of the thriving oil industry. Beginning in North Texas, the boom then spread to
West Texas when the United States became desperate for oil during and after World War I and II. This research drew upon

the Midland/Odessa area. Midland, Texas was the midway point between Fort Worth and El Paso, hence the name Midland .
This midway point made Midland the perfect place for a railway stop during the establishment of the railway. Soon after the
Texas and Pacific Railway was active and Midland became an oil bustling business town with pump jacks littering the

The Glass Escalator By Adia Wingfield
In today s society it is still common to assign gender stereotype to specific career paths. Careers such as a construction
worker, mechanic and electrician may be gender stereotyped as a man s career and careers such as nursing, secretary,
elementary school teachers and child care workers may be seen as a woman s profession. I chose to analyze the concept of
The Glass Escalator by Adia Wingfield and relate it to two different news articles More men enter Fields Dominated by
Women. By Shaila Dewan and Robert Gebeloff and the article Kudos for the Black Male Nurse by Benjamin Greeen Jr. It has
been encouraged for both men and women to take on occupational fields regardless of gender and race stereotypes. In Adia
Wingfield s study she also focuses on the inequality based off of race and gender in the work field for advancement in the a
workplace. I decided to focus more on the subject of men just entering these different fields as an accomplishment. The Glass
Escalator discusses the intertwining of race and gender combine to shape experiences for minority men in the culturally
feminized field of nursing and discovers that upward advancements that may be offered to women may not be offered to a
man in a dominated woman s work field. The perception that men are not really suited to do women s work also contributes to
the glass escalator effect. It is interesting that there are specific ideals in the work field on what a man and a woman can

A Project Manager For Monitor And Control The Execution Of...
Once a project is begun, it is important for a project manager to monitor and control the execution of the endeavor. A project
manager must observe and examine how the work is progressing, the costs, application of the resources required, and if the
schedule is being sustained with the overall project plan. This is especially important when a project manager uses the earned
value management (EVM) system to track and monitor an undertaking. EVM and variance management must have accurate
material and labor costs accounted in order to be an effective tool.
Labor and Material Costs
Resources are essential for completion for any project, but must be managed differently because of the constraints and
accounting each specifically demands. Labor, materials, and equipment fall under the definition of resources and how they are
managed within a project will greatly impact the endeavor (Larson Gray, 2014). An important resource for a project is the
human resource or labor and the skills that each individual brings to the project team. Ordinarily, direct labor is classified by
skills and the costs related to provide those skills to complete the work. Direct labor costs are normally calculated by
multiplying the hours required to complete the task by the salary scale designated for the task. Indirect labor costs encompass
any support staff that is not directly involved within the project, like human resource, administrative, and other ancillary staff
(Webb, 2016). Even though these

Benefits Of Dissecting A Cat
1. Introduction: What is dissection? Dissection is the process of disassembling and observing something to determine its
internal structure and as an aid to discerning the functions and relationships of its components (Dissection). The term is most
often used concerning the dissection of plants and animals, including humans. Comparative anatomy is the investigation of
similitudes and contrasts in the life structures of various species. It is firmly identified with transformative science and
phylogeny. Comparative anatomy has gradually and long been utilized as evidence for evolution; it indicates that various
organisms share a common ancestor. Dissection of cats in an anatomy class is a common occurrence and believed to be a
great learning mechanism for students. Schools and education systems utilize the availability of a cat because they are
vertebrates and include a great amount of similarity in structures as humans, as students learn the anatomy and physiology of
the human body. Advantages of dissecting a cat include a sensory factor that a visual study is unable to provide. A fact of
being a human is that a great many people recall things they can touch or work on accomplishing more than they recollect
data that they examined. By analyzing a creature in individual and touching it, the material encounters can give a general,
better learning background that may help them in future classes if science or medical sciences will be examined. I hold the
belief that the

Analysis Of The Article 9 Of The Japanese Constitution
The reinterpretation of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution is today a contentious issue within Japanese society as well as in
the global context. Through the reinterpretation, the Japan Self Defense Forces (JSDF) were for the first time authorized to
engage in acts of collective self defense. As elaborated below, this occurred as a natural response to an evolving foreign
policy status quo. This paper provides a cursory overview of the post WWII history of Japan and posits that the confluence of
the rise of previously benign China along with a shifting U.S. strategy in Asia remain the principal factors driving the
constitutional reinterpretation. It is a calculated response which has caused Japan to take a new angle in favor of increased
military cooperation, a significant albeit justified break from the pacifist connotations of Article 9. Japan s Recovery In the
immediate wake of World War II, Japan was a humiliated, devastated, and occupied state. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were
leveled by the first wartime application of nuclear weaponry in history, and Tokyo lay in ruins as a result of aerial incendiary
bombing. On September 2, 1945 the formalized Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on the deck of the USS
Missouri in Tokyo Bay; with a stroke of a pen, one of the largest maritime empires in history was extinguished. The island

Africa Before European Arrival People of the early African kingdoms were able to create successful trade routes with Europe

this was done before the Europeans had reached Africa. Trade flourished on the East African coast, especially when trading

Stress Management Action Plan Stress has developed over millions of years as a way to help aid an organism along its
evolutionary course to avoid extinction. This finely tuned instrument of survival has become to human beings a source of help
and anguish. Stress as commonly defined by the dictionary is worry, however, more appropriately stress is a biological
response to situations both good and bad. Stress is the body s way of rising to a challenge whether life threatening, trivial, or
fun. At the chemical level stress is a release of glucocorticoids, which are hormones that produce an array of effects in
response to stress, some of the actions of glucocorticoids help mediate the stress response, while other, slower actions
counteract the primary response to stress and help re establish homeostasis (Stress, 2012) and epinephrine commonly known
as adrenaline. The use of stress has changed throughout the years and what once aided us along the timeline has now become
a hindrance that needs to be monitored.
In modern society the use of stress is overused and abused all too often unwittingly by the individual stressing. Without an off
switch healthy stress, which is transient turns into lasting unhealthy stress, which in the long run if not managed always
proves deadly.
Psychology has dedicated a large amount of attention to elements in our lives that can potentially harm us. For this reason

Essay On Madame Defarge
The French common people were squashed by the wealthy leading to an unjust social system. As the common Frenchmen s
oppression continued, their anger festered eventually leading to the great revolt known as the French Revolution. The book
Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens, is about the poverty stricken French peasants as they rise up to fight against
the rich and haughty nobleman. The peasants had grown irritated by the haughty regime of the noblemen. While the nobleman
made up only two percent of the French population, they controlled the majority of the wealth in France. This caused the
common people to obtain minimal amounts of money throughout their lives. The scarce amount of currency lead the Third
Estate to a world of hunger and death, however, the wealthy were oblivious to their pain.
After decades of suffering, the peasants grew uneasy and eventually protested their unfair treatment, and they thought they

This paper determines the effects contextual factors have on the design of Management Control Systems. The paper firstly
discusses what is meant by Management Control Systems and what is expected of Management Control Systems .
Contingency based research is outlined and five key contextual variables are identified for discussion. The five factors
(external environment, technology, structure and size, strategy and national culture) are assessed to determine their impact on
design and implementation of management control systems.

Tight or rigid control systems may be detrimental to performance if the technology requires fast responses or new innovative
solutions. In contrast a control system that is loose and open to encourage innovation and communication may work against
the organisation if the use of technology requires standard responses and is used in a rigid fashion. The way that technology is
used must be considered when regarding the management control system within the organisation.
External Environment
This is the environment in which the organisation operates. This external environment is unable to be controlled by the
organisation and is influenced by a number of factors. Levels of uncertainty, market competitiveness, political and legislative
factors as well as economic factors are all considered within this factor. Findings such as the more uncertain the external
environment the more open and externally focused the MCS (Chenhall 2003) and the more hostile and turbulent the external
environment the greater the reliance in formal controls and emphasis on traditional budgets (Chenhall 2003) show that
management control systems are tailored to the environmental context. Chenhall s idea is that uncertainty pushes
organisations towards tighter control systems with a strong focus on budgets and meeting targets, but with some flexibility so
that figures can be manipulated (2003). In markets where the environment is less uncertain, there is a

Cinematic Techniques Used In King Kong Film
The 1933 film King Kong directed by Carl Denham came out during the Victorian era of the exploration of exotic lands. This
film is cinema s most famous monster movie . Cinematography contributes to this films theme of otherness and sympathy,
shallow focus, tight framing, and confined movement. Also, the sound within this film emphasizes what the audience/viewer
should pay attention to. The importance of sound within this film was critical as it created this effect that was developed

Cinematography is a motion picture photography, which provides a diversity of experience in the definition of artificial
imagery and movement through landscape (Earl 181). Therefore, cinematography is a continuous image between cuts. This
particular technique offers a range of options for representing, creating and understanding a cinematic point of view, which is
shown strongly within this 1933 film. As Ray Morton indicates in his book on King Kong that the cinematography [in this
film] is highly atmospheric [as it is] perfectly capturing the despair of the depression era in New York, the nightmarish
spectacle of the sacrifice scene, and the eerie beauty of the mist covered prehistoric tableaus (Morton 80). Therefore, through
cinematography it does create a sympathetic monster. Thus, through these cinematic scenes, King Kong does show a well

Federal courts generally reference what the Kansas courts describe as a cognizable legal prejudice as the loss of a substantial
right due to the dismissal. Pontenberg v. Boston Scientific Corp., 252 F.3d 1253, 1255 (11th Cir. 2001). The Tenth Circuit has
recognized four main factors when determining whether a legal prejudice exists: the opposing party s effort and expense in

the frontal lobes deal mostly with receiving and coordinating messages from other lobes, while the limbic system controls
your emotions and drives(hunger, dominance,etc.). So my prediction is that his limbic system was definitely abolished, but his
frontal lobes were merely damaged. The fontal lobes also help the brain with motor control and speech production which
Gage still had. So the only explanation I can come up with is that limbic system got shut down and the neurotransmitters shut
down as well which stopped sending messages to the frontal lobe. With the frontal lobe not receiving any messages from the
limbic system, Gages emotions went rampant, going from a really nice guy to a really not so nice guy. By knowing more
about Mr. Gage and what he went through, I now know why he acted the way he

What Is The Mood Of The Poem Read Out Loud
Throughout the whole sonnet, the poet maintains a very mournful tone, which he mainly emphasizes by experimenting with
sound. In the first line, for example, the combination of past and the repetition of pitch results in an alliteration of the strong
plosive /p/ sound. The exact same phenomenon can be found in line nine with the nasal /m/ sound in mind and mountains .
Because this poem is teeming with alliterations, it clearly should be read out loud. In this way the reader will also notice that
Hopkins uses many mono syllabic words to speed up the rhythm. Line one, for example, only consists of words of one
syllable. Another way in which the poet affects the rhythm of his poem is the excessive use of punctuation. The octave is

Best Guitar Strings
After breaking one of my guitar strings broke on my Fender Stratocaster, I decided that I needed to do some more research on
my next set. Turns out that there are hundreds of different strings varying by everything to the coating to size. So I did what
any human would do and googled Best Guitar Strings .
What I concluded is that there is **no** single answer!
Guitarist tend to choose their string based on quite a few things: How they want their music to sound, whether that means
using distortion or having a clean feel, use string bending, play fingerstyle, how forceful they are, how much oils and salts
seems to impact string life and sound, and how much they re willing to spend.
On electric guitars, the most ofter used string diameter is a extra light gauge. This set of strings starts with at .010 for the high
E. Some guitarist that prefer a lighter touch and do a ton of string bending will use a super light set where the high E will start
at .009.
On the other side, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
.009, .010. and .011. They all have ups and downs with Heavier strings breaking less from rigorous playing and Lighter being
easier on the fingers for bending.
Now You also have coating options but I m not going to go into that today beside saying that the High Tech coating that are
more expensive and add little string life for the price.
What do I use?
I just swapped from Dunlop Electric Nickel Wound (.009) to the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.010). I found the .009s to be a
little light for my liking and they gave a lot of popping or snapping when played against the frets. From what I ve read .010
gauge strings seem to be a great middle ground among guitarist compromising on many aspects of the super light and the light
.
What would I recommend?
Really you just have to play around with some different gauges and see which ones fit you. It all depends on the player. For
your first set you can t go wrong with the .010

Compare And Contrast Essay On Online Education Vs...
What is the Better: Online or Traditional Education?
Currently, there are a lot of inventions and new products in every sphere, and education is no exception. Instead of attending
regular classes people can register for online training, which, according to many, is also effective.
What would be the best choice the traditional option of education or the acquisition of knowledge in the vast World Wide
Web?
Each type has its advantages and disadvantages that must be analyzed, before making a choice. Technological process has
opened new educational opportunities and changed a way people live and study. For many years to obtain academic help
students need to attend additional classes, go to the tutoring center or invite teachers to their homes. The emergence of the
Internet, advance in technology made people s lives easier by changing approaches to teaching.
Not so long ago, the only option was to invite a stranger into your home or to meet with him outside (for example, by going to
special courses), but now you can do it online. However, if you are accustomed to the traditional form of learning, you will
need some time to switch to a new approach.
Perhaps no one can deny the importance of organizing time in today s speedy world. Time management and well built
schedule, in terms of convenience, can play a colossal role for overall success and effectiveness. Face to face education offers
a little flexibility here. Those who chose traditional courses has to adjust to

Playing My Best Game Of My Life
Goodish, Badish Basketball
The day I played my best. It was in the morning we had to get up to go to are basketball games. Like all morning I was slow
and then I played the best game of my life so far. It was a hard game one of the hardest game ever, no it was the hardest game
ever. I know what you re thinking, the team played so well together that it was the best they ever played with each other. Even
the shy people scored it was great. The score was unbelievable 200 points to 0. But we actually lost 89 to 58. Yeah I knew,
how did I play the best. If we didn t even win and are team wasn t playing together like we always do. Maybe it was because
they just wanted the ball or maybe they were just scared. It was the last game before the finals. I always go in thinking that we
are going to lose. So I don t feel mad or disappointed if we lose. It also helps me play harder. But this time I was sure we were
gonna lose. They were two times the size of me. They were like trees towering over me. Even their smallest girl was taller
than our tallest girl. But they were in our division. We ve never even seen them play before, but we knew they were good.
They were all wearing orange pixel shorts. We were joking that they were pooping out pixels. Then we headed in for warm up
s the crowd was cheering, but then the other team comes in and it went crazy. As we were doing leg up lines they were
shooting three s and making all of them. But they were slow and that s where we had an

Yuan Shikai agreed to the Republic and forced the last emperor of China, Henry Puyi, to abdicate on February 12. V. Narration After being selected as the Last Emperor of China by the ill Empress Dowager Tzu Hsi, Henry Pu yi at his childhood lived a lavish life not knowing of what obligations will face him in growing up. At the age of 6 in the year of 1912, China converts to republic and the Ching Dynasty was forced to abdicate. As Pu Yi grows up he was free to do whatever he wants, living the life of an emperor but was locked up in the Forbidden City deprived of the modern customs. Guided by the British Tutor, Reginald Johnston, Pu Yi became so captivated to foreigners and believed of them as the wisest and most civilized. Thus made him interested in Western things, and came up with his English name Henry . He was married at 18 with two wives, Wen Hsiu and Wan Jung. On November 5, 1924 officials entered the palace with a revision of the Articles of Favorable Treatment that stated, the Emperor s position shall be abolished making Pu yi an ordinary citizen. He was required to abandon the Forbidden City and sought asylum from the Japanese Embassy and soon was sent to Tientsin. It was in Tientsin that Pu Yi decided to go abroad but ended up staying there for seven years, in which he wavered back and forth between different factions among his advisers. Rhetorical Analysis of The Killer Instinct Rhetorical analysis of The Killer Instinct (January 2000) The Killer Instinct is an article published in A Monthly Journal of Religion Public Life by Institute on Religion Public life in January 2000. This journal, which started from 1998, contains various articles with opinions, arguments, debates and commentary on religious and moral questions, and social issues going in American society. Thomas Sally, a poet and a writer, argues in the article that it s the nature of boys who constructs them rough and not the toys that create them violent. She argues with various examples from her friends and even from her own experience throughout the article making clear sense of support to her argument. This article by Thomas Sally is a successful argument appealing toward its audience with a clear and strong use of reasoning(logos), emotion(pathos) and authority(ethos) . Thomas Sally s appeal to logic is the strongest persuasive proof to her argument. The motive for her use of reasoning is strong due to the explanation of suitable examples from her real life experience on the subject. Thomas Sally explains, by reasoning, at the beginning paragraphs that a boy enjoys the warlike fascination of slashing shooting and even punching if they don t find anything. • 4. Fantine And Cosette Though Jean valjean struggles and conflicts only got more strenuous, he still continued, if not to an even greater extent, his selfless devotion to the ill fated members of society. The exemplary heroism, compassion, and love of Jean Valjean s character was further deepened through the meeting of Cosette and Fantine. The mother and daughter both express a cry for help, a call which although difficult to answer, was dutifully plowed after by Jean Valjean. Fantine is a reflection of the horrific outcome of French society. Exploited by the thenardiers, and undoubtedly naive to the intentions of others, she is the weak prey oblivious of her predators. Jean Valjean steps into her life, and by doing so, he cultivates a strong empathy for her situation, one which is quite familiar to himself. Fantine causes Jean Valjean to look back at the character of his darkest days, and thus, make a decision to firmly not revert back to his old ways. In fact, she is the embodiment of a part of a debt to society he must pay, and so Jean Valjean is determined to help Fantine in any way he can. Likewise, he pursues the recovery of her daughter Cosette in order to achieve completion of her final wish. Fantine impacts Jean Valjean by acting like a mirror for his personal flaws, and continued to spark the seemingly never ending selfless drive to make up for them. ... Enthalpy Change Lab Report Applying Calorimetry to Determine the Enthalpy Change for the Dissolution of a Salt Calorimetry is the measurement of the amount of thermal energy that is released or absorbed in a reaction and is used to determine enthalpy change. Calorimetry also plays a significant role in daily life as it controls metabolic rates, and maintains body temperature. (Calorimetry, 2016). Enthalpy change is valid on a daily basis, for example ice melting is an endothermic reaction. Heat is added to the ice cube, which causes the water molecules to move around faster and for the ice to melt. (Heat of fusion, 2017). • 24. Thomas Edison And The Light Bulb Essay Everyone in their lifetime has heard the name Thomas Edison at least once. However, if you asked those same people why Thomas Edison was so famous, ninety percent of the time they would tell you it was because he invented the light bulb, and each of them would be completely wrong. Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb; in fact, someone had the idea for it almost one hundred years before Mr. Edison was even born. To invent something means to come up with the idea in the first place, as well as to actually carry it out. In this paper I will give you insights into the life of Thomas Edison and explain why people get confused in thinking the light bulb was his idea. He also had several other interesting experiments, and we will take a look at what people thought of them. I believe Thomas Edison is one of the greatest minds that have ever existed on planet earth, and the rest of this paper will be devoted to showing you why this is true. If one stopped and thought about all the amazing and wonderful inventions that this world has ever seen, what would be number one on that list? Most people in today s world would probably say items that they use on a daily basis. If we made a list of what some people might say, it might include such things as automobiles, their new iPhone, advancements in medicine, heaters, air conditioning, power tools, gaming systems, IPods, etc., and the list could go on and on. • 25. Differences Between Nationalism And Imperialism Kayla Melo J. Cormier CPW 4U1 Wednesday, October 29, 2014 Nationalism and Imperialism Whether it s nationalism and/or imperialism we are affected by these angles all through out our lifetime, there are benefits to both nationalism and imperialism such that each can favorably support their nations respectively. These two features can be very powerful forces that can bring a nation together in its greatest time of need but may be able to subjugate another nation. By definition, nationalism is a patriotic feeling; an extreme case of nationalism is when a person and/or country feel a strong sensation of dominance over one or more countries. In contrast imperialism can be defined as a strategy that encompasses another countries authority and influence amongst mediation or by using military obligation. Nationalism and imperialism both benefit society through their social, political and technological aspects. The social traits pertaining to nationalism result in a nations unity usually formed through a significant event or in extreme cases of patriotism. Similarly, imperialism is moreover affected by social attributes that may not be one specific event, but occurred over a longer period of time. Nationalism creates a united front that in time produces a well governed nation For example the United States of America is a nation that goes to extreme levels of promoting patriotism. • 26. Persuasive Essay On Fake News Almost 1.8 billion people use Facebook, and about half of American adults use as their main news source. According to Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke. Currently, many people are debating over the problem of fake news. For example, in the 2016 election, two candidates were chosen, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As many citizens possessed different political views, some started to create posts and articles to try and change other s political opinions. As a result of this, companies were criticized for not taking measures to reduce the amount of fake news. Later, companies started to take control of their software, as it is essential to handle fake news as most people receive their information from these outlets. Although some argue that the spread of fake news is the fault of the people who create it, it should be largely the company s responsibility to control its spread; they should add algorithms to determine a post s validity. During the 2016 presidential election, Facebook was greatly disparaged for not making an attempt to counter fake news. Although Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Facebook had no connection with the outcome of the election, some thought otherwise. For example, a man named Eric Tucker took a picture of a road filled with buses who he claimed were filled with protesters who he thought would march against Donald ... Careers such as a construction worker, mechanic and electrician may be gender stereotyped as a man s career and careers such as nursing, secretary, elementary school teachers and child care workers may be seen as a woman s profession. I chose to analyze the concept of The Glass Escalator by Adia Wingfield and relate it to two different news articles More men enter Fields Dominated by Women. By Shaila Dewan and Robert Gebeloff and the article Kudos for the Black Male Nurse by Benjamin Greeen Jr. It has been encouraged for both men and women to take on occupational fields regardless of gender and race stereotypes. In Adia Wingfield s study she also focuses on the inequality based off of race and gender in the work field for advancement in the a workplace. I decided to focus more on the subject of men just entering these different fields as an accomplishment. The Glass Escalator discusses the intertwining of race and gender combine to shape experiences for minority men in the culturally feminized field of nursing and discovers that upward advancements that may be offered to women may not be offered to a man in a dominated woman s work field. The perception that men are not really suited to do women s work also contributes to the glass escalator effect. • 30. A Project Manager For Monitor And Control The Execution Of... Once a project is begun, it is important for a project manager to monitor and control the execution of the endeavor. A project manager must observe and examine how the work is progressing, the costs, application of the resources required, and if the schedule is being sustained with the overall project plan. This is especially important when a project manager uses the earned value management (EVM) system to track and monitor an undertaking. EVM and variance management must have accurate material and labor costs accounted in order to be an effective tool. Labor and Material Costs Resources are essential for completion for any project, but must be managed differently because of the constraints and accounting each specifically demands. Labor, materials, and equipment fall under the definition of resources and how they are managed within a project will greatly impact the endeavor (Larson Gray, 2014). An important resource for a project is the human resource or labor and the skills that each individual brings to the project team. Ordinarily, direct labor is classified by skills and the costs related to provide those skills to complete the work. Direct labor costs are normally calculated by multiplying the hours required to complete the task by the salary scale designated for the task. Indirect labor costs encompass any support staff that is not directly involved within the project, like human resource, administrative, and other ancillary staff (Webb, 2016). Even though these ... • 31. Benefits Of Dissecting A Cat 1. Introduction: What is dissection? Dissection is the process of disassembling and observing something to determine its internal structure and as an aid to discerning the functions and relationships of its components (Dissection). The term is most often used concerning the dissection of plants and animals, including humans. Comparative anatomy is the investigation of similitudes and contrasts in the life structures of various species. It is firmly identified with transformative science and phylogeny. Comparative anatomy has gradually and long been utilized as evidence for evolution; it indicates that various organisms share a common ancestor. Dissection of cats in an anatomy class is a common occurrence and believed to be a great learning mechanism for students. Schools and education systems utilize the availability of a cat because they are vertebrates and include a great amount of similarity in structures as humans, as students learn the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Advantages of dissecting a cat include a sensory factor that a visual study is unable to provide. A fact of being a human is that a great many people recall things they can touch or work on accomplishing more than they recollect data that they examined. By analyzing a creature in individual and touching it, the material encounters can give a general, better learning background that may help them in future classes if science or medical sciences will be examined. Through the reinterpretation, the Japan Self Defense Forces (JSDF) were for the first time authorized to engage in acts of collective self defense. As elaborated below, this occurred as a natural response to an evolving foreign policy status quo. This paper provides a cursory overview of the post WWII history of Japan and posits that the confluence of the rise of previously benign China along with a shifting U.S. strategy in Asia remain the principal factors driving the constitutional reinterpretation. It is a calculated response which has caused Japan to take a new angle in favor of increased military cooperation, a significant albeit justified break from the pacifist connotations of Article 9. Chiaramonte SNHU Stress Management Action Plan Stress has developed over millions of years as a way to help aid an organism along its evolutionary course to avoid extinction. This finely tuned instrument of survival has become to human beings a source of help and anguish. Stress as commonly defined by the dictionary is worry, however, more appropriately stress is a biological response to situations both good and bad. Stress is the body s way of rising to a challenge whether life threatening, trivial, or fun. At the chemical level stress is a release of glucocorticoids, which are hormones that produce an array of effects in response to stress, some of the actions of glucocorticoids help mediate the stress response, while other, slower actions counteract the primary response to stress and help re establish homeostasis (Stress, 2012) and epinephrine commonly known as adrenaline. The use of stress has changed throughout the years and what once aided us along the timeline has now become a hindrance that needs to be monitored. In modern society the use of stress is overused and abused all too often unwittingly by the individual stressing. As the common Frenchmen s oppression continued, their anger festered eventually leading to the great revolt known as the French Revolution. The book Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens, is about the poverty stricken French peasants as they rise up to fight against the rich and haughty nobleman. The peasants had grown irritated by the haughty regime of the noblemen. While the nobleman made up only two percent of the French population, they controlled the majority of the wealth in France. This caused the common people to obtain minimal amounts of money throughout their lives. The scarce amount of currency lead the Third Estate to a world of hunger and death, however, the wealthy were oblivious to their pain.
