Howard Nemerov s The Vacuum
The Vacuum Analysis
Grief is the price we pay for love. Queen Elizabeth II. As the quote above explains to love something
that can die is to welcome pain. The poem, The Vacuum focuses on the private aspect of life where
one spouse dies leaving the other alone after many years. The speaker in the poem is battling grief and
cannot bring himself to use the vacuum cleaner because his late wife used to take pride in a clean
house. The composition implies that the speaker no longer cares about life now that his wife has died.
The first few lines of the poem heavily foreshadow death, but do not directly address the event that
has occurred. Howard Nemerov uses harsh, brutal diction such as stopped lung , dog dead , and old
woman to imply the pain and isolation the speaker feels the word choice also gives the poem a
depressing mood. Giving flashbacks to the past illuminates the theme of chaos and order in the poem.
When the speaker s wife was alive she used to crawl, in the corner and under the stair as to make sure
every nook and cranny was clean, but now old filth is everywhere. Creating the image in the reader s
mind of a man sitting alone in his dirty house, not having enough strength to clean it. ... Show more

He also draws parallels between the vacuum cleaner and his wife. Early in the poem the line the
vacuum sulks in in the corner closet seems like an isolated statement until later in the poem he states
that his wife used to crawl, in the corner . The speaker also mentions how when his wife died her soul
metaphorically went into the vacuum cleaner. Later in the poem he says, I can t bear to see the bag
swell... and begin to howl . As if his wife would be ashamed of how bad he has let the house

Three Techniques To Integrate Database To The Web Analysis
InfoHarness Repository Language, has the capability to generate simple metadata. It provides
automation for generation of metadata; InfoHarness is often used to encapsulate raw data
(heterogenous), and used as a runtime entity to search that encapsulated data.
In this technique, when the data item arrives for archiving, information is automatically extracted and
sent to a catalog named summary. Simultaneously, more information is gathered and sent to catalog
named program. Now, the users have the ability to locate data from the summary, using which they
analyze the data retrieved through program catalog.
4.3 Techniques to Integrate Database to the Web.
The process integrating database to the WWW (web) is done with adoption of various ... Show more

The idea is to rebuild parts of the UI on web before executing/displaying them on the user s machine.
Hence, improving the scalability issues that the web currently faces. Although it reduces the load of
the server, this approach is largely platform dependent. For example, web programs written in java
improves interaction with the database. i.e., it will limit the disadvantage of the stateless protocol
(HTTP).
Middle Layer approach, this technique mainly concentrates on the heterogenous form of the data and
how to improve its integration to the web. CORBA, is an existing technique in this area that can be
used to solve this issue. It supports interoperability between the objects. It is capable of handling
different machines written in different languages, considering that these systems work mostly on a
distributed/heterogenous environment.
4.4 Techniques to improve scalability factor for Web Based Databases
Especially with the growth of web usage, there has come a time to relook into the design of both web
based applications and traditional DB techniques that are currently in place to counter scalability
issues. Below are some of the suggestions to improve the database techniques,
In order to achieve a cut edge database application, there should be freedom for the web clients to
update DB. Example, an accepted order should trigger the update of available quantity. The current
and traditional DBs use conventional models for transaction purpose,

Gender Is A Man Of The Physically Heritable Trait, Through...
How I Learned to Drive has demonstrated that gender is a learned, in addition to the physically
heritable trait, through society. Vogel stated that this play provides an opportunity to examine the issue
at a microcosmic level at how we are taught at an extremely early age to look at female bodies
(Mansbridge 124). The play is portraying a woman from her eleven years old to her forties. It detailed
the process of how she gains her way to view her own body from her family, and especially Uncle
Peck, can be seen clearly. This implied that our sexualities are gained through the society instead of
ourselves, despite being the owner of our bodies.
In order to successfully deliver Vogel s message, she revealed the secret at the end of the play in which
Uncle Peck is a pedophile. Besides, various scenes were included before the revelation of the secret,
such as interactions among Li l Bit s family and Uncle Peck provided a clear picture of the process of
how Li l Bit became the victim of her uncle. It allowed the avoidance of the issue being preconceived
by audiences as well as developing subjective opinions towards Uncle Peck through piecemeal
information provided at each time points. In this way, the audiences are able to conceive Vogel s
message more effectively. There are a few ways to view gender as a social construction, including:
female sexuality and agency, femininity, masculinity and objectification of female.
Li l Bit as the protagonist of the play has been taught how

Sexism In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness And Things...
Written in 1899, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad conveys a story of European colonization along
the Congo River in Africa. Although his work lacks central female characters, some of those
mentioned hold great influence in society and the power to predict the future. Despite these abilities,
women are still largely ignored by the men in their midst. Conversely, Chinua Achebe s Things Fall
Apart features a multitude of female figures, including oracles and priestesses, but much like Heart of
Darkness, the majority of women in his work are belittled and viewed as unimportant. These two
authors both showcase sexism in their works, as they promote stigmas surrounding females and a
sense of male superiority that leads men to treat women as inferior. While the writers of Heart of
Darkness and Things Fall Apart highlight the values certain females possess, they chose to depict
sexist societies in which women are viewed as largely irrelevant and impotent.
Conrad s story showcases a woman who has societal sway. When protagonist Marlow decides to travel
to Africa, a land of financial opportunity, he realizes that he is unable to get there independently. After
failing to obtain assistance from his male peers, he begrudgingly turns to his aunt for help. He even
says, Then would you believe it? I tried the women. I, Charlie Marlow, set the women to work to get a
job. Heavens! Well, you see, the notion drove me (Conrad 9). By vocalizing phrases like would you

The Australian Work Health And Safety Strategy
The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 2022 identifies several priority industries.
Priority industries are identified as having a high number of injury and / or fatalities or hazardous in
nature (Safe Work Australia, 2012). The foundation of risk management is to prevent incidents from
occurring. Accident causation theory are models or tools that are used to assist in investigating
incidents in order to prevent recurrence (Boyle, 2012). The construction industry has been identified
as a priority industry for Australia (Safe Work Australia, 2012) and will be the focus of the review.
The development of an incident reporting template will be supported by causation models identified as
relevant to the construction industry. This template will be designed for a medium sized organisation
defined as having 21 99 workers. This study starts by performing a review and literature critic of
accident causation theories and models. This review highlights the two most relevant causation
theories to the construction industry as Reason s Swiss cheese model and System dynamics model for
the causation of unsafe behaviours (SD CUB). Both models are discussed in more detail with a
comparison of model strengths and weaknesses. From the comparison an incident reporting template
is developed. Finally it is argued that a systematic robust model should be applied that can manage the
variables in the changing work environment of the construction industry and concludes risk

How Did Ancient Greeks Influence Western Civilization
The ancient Greeks contributed a lot to the Western civilization through philosophy,
government, science, math, literature, architecture, and art. During the Age of Pericles ,
Greece was known to reach their Golden Age. The Golden Age lasted from about 500
300 B.C. Both Athens and Sparta which were two of the most popular cities assisted
ancient Greece to achieve their peak in the areas of art, architecture, philosophy, math,
literature, and science. This helped to establish the foundation for the western society.
In fact most of the western civilization s origins derived from ancient Greece.

which is where he wrote hundreds of essays about logic, politics, and science. Most
Greek philosophers believed that natural events are caused by natural causes. To this

western civilization still uses the ideas that were originated in Greece.
Two of the most significant contributions from ancient Greece are science and
mathematics. The concepts that were contributed to the west are used to determine the
answers for mathematics and medicine. Hippocrates who is also known as The father
of medicine was a scientist that lived from 460 377 B.C.E. One of his oaths is I will

proven by modern scientific instruments. Pythagoras was a mathematician that

British Gas Crisis
My research focuses on a case story about British Gas and the effects of successful strategizing.
British Gas was facing serious financial challenges when subjected to deregulation, (Paroutis,
Heracleous, Angwin, 2013). At one time, British Gas had monopolized the market with exclusive
control over natural gas, (Paroutis, et al., 2013). British Gas was not subjected to strict regulations or
competition; they were holding 100% of the market, (Paroutis, et al., 2013). During this time, British
Gas made some poor decisions regarding contracts, they signed contracts with their providers that
required payment for all natural gas produced, (Paroutis, et al., 2013). Therefore, if excess gas was

realizing this is their key to continued success and expansion, (Paroutis, et al., 2013). According to the
author, Centrica s diverse portfolio was noted as a concern, due to questionable focus on specific
markets, (Paroutis, et al., 2013). Centrica felt their diversification was driven by customer
relationships that reinforced the need for expansion through extended services for the consumer,

History 110
Epic of Sundiata In the story of The supernatural in African Epic Traditions, the embodiment of the
storytelling pertains to traditions in classical Africa by providing education and examples of how the
African culture tradition was. Particularly referring to West Africa, the culture was based on
supernatural powers, rituals and sorcery which played a dominant role in their daily lives. They also
believed in divine revelation. In the story no matter which story it was telling, it still had the base of
the same beloved system which was like a spiritual map on how to live. The narrator by the name of
Mariam K. Deme did an excellent job with the stories by illustrating the correlations between them.
The symbolism that appears throughout the of Sundiata the African rituals and the supernatural life.
Another symbol was the lion and king whichrepresents bravery, strength and determination. In the text
his mother was referred to as the buffalo Woman and his father as the noble ancestry. The different
names throughout Sundiata s life were the lion child,, buffalo child, lion prince and lion (pg. 37). The
significance of each name were just various ways of him being the king of Mali and walking into his
destiny that was a prophecy spoken by the hunters before his birth. He was the chosen one to save the

Discrimination In The Workplace Essay
Discrimination is a topic that has been around for a very long time. Most people today do not realize
how discrimination affects everyone around them and might even happen to them from time to time.
Discrimination means treating a person unfairly because of who they are or because they possess
certain characteristics such as age, gender, race, disability, religion, pregnancy and maternity, sexual
orientation, gender reassignment, and marriage and civil partnership (EOC 2017). There are many
types of discrimination, but we will focus solely on discrimination in the workplace for this paper.

administer and enforce the Civil Rights Act at work. The laws that they enforce are as followed; Equal
Pay Act of 1963, Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, Vocational Rehabilitation Act of
1973, Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, Federal Agency Guidelines, Civil Rights Act of 1991,
Americans with Disability Act, and State and Local Equal Opportunity Laws. Dessler 2017 went into
depth about each of these laws and there definitions that are about to be discussed. Equal Pay Act of
1963 states that it is unlawful to discriminate in pay on the basis of sex when jobs involve equal work;
require equivalent skills, effort, and responsibility; and are performed under similar working
conditions. Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 made it unlawful to discriminate against
employees or applicants who are between 40 and 65 years of age. The Vocational Rehabilitation Act of
1973 requires employers with federal contracts of more than $2,500 to take affirmative action in
employing handicapped persons. Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 prohibits using pregnancy,

or in any term or condition of employment. Furthermore, under the act, if an employer offers its

Characteristics Of Heroism
Heroes are just normal everyday people. They step up in the face of fear when it s necessary, but
outside of that, they re just normal people trying to live their life. Ricky Martin, a singer, once said,
Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. Anyone who can show
courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best
capacity. ( Hero Quotes ) This quote reminds me of my grandpa, Duane Culbertson. He was a hero
because he considered it his duty to help anybody in a difficult situation. After Duane Culbertson
graduated high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was motivated by his dad who served in World
War Two. Through his time in the Army he spent two years in Vietnam. While he served in Vietnam
he was a Technical Sergeant, or what is known today as Sergeant first class. His job included working
with lower ranking troops in technical situations and helping them move up. While he spent time in
Vietnam he made friends from all over the country. If it wasn t for soldiers like him then the U.S.
wouldn t be the country it is today. The Heroic Imagination Project has said that four traits of heroism
are that it involves some kind of risk, it s done for others and not yourself, it s voluntary and there is
no need for gain (Cherry, The Psychology of Heroism ). He was honorably discharged from the Army
in 1969 after serving two years in Vietnam. When he got back to the United States he moved

The Movie Exhibition Industry: 2011
What can exhibitors do to improve their performance? To reverse the downward trends in attendance?
To improve their profitability at a time when the studios, relying on the box office more than ever, are
increasingly looking internationally?
Let s start with a SWOT analysis of the local exhibitor:
SWOT Analysis

They could also offer package deals to families that would include tickets and a preset concession
value or product. This would grow the adult demographic of parents who have small children that
want to see the latest kids release and be guaranteed concession sales for that group of consumers.
Another opportunity for theatre owners is to look at alternative uses for their facilities. The overhead
costs of the facility are fixed but could be offset by renting spaces during off peak hours for events
such as business conferences or school events. They could also use their screens to show things other
than major motion picture releases. With digital equipment I m sure there would be a way to contract
with major networks and cable providers to show popular television series finales. The audiences of
these series are hardcore fans. They could market the allure of a big screen and the opportunity to
experience the show with other fans. For example the audience for shows like The Walking Dead,
Homeland, and many other popular shows is a huge market. Often these shows air on nights that
theatres have low attendance. They could market it with discounts offered for customers who come in
costume.
Another product modification could be the ticket pricing set up. Perhaps they could lower the price of
movies after they have

Canada s Relationship With The Indigenous People
This is a powerful quote, and to each individual, it has its own meaning. When I read this quote, what

what is in your head, or your spirit. This quote is relevant because it corresponds to Canada s
relationship with the Indigenous people. My paper will be ranging from the topics of residential
schools in Canada, and the aftershock of them; the positive influence New Zealand could have on

Although to most, Residential schools are considered a time of the past, the final residential school did
not actually close until 1986, which means that many of our older generation of today s Aboriginal
communities are residential school survivors. The traumatizing effects of the schools had not only had
a significant effect on the families directly involved, but also for generations to follow. According to
the Manitoba Justice Institute, residential schools laid the foundation for the epidemic we see today of
domestic abuse and violence against Aboriginal women and children.17 The high rates of domestic
violence among Aboriginal families results in a vicious cycle of abuse and dysfunction over
generations. The families directly affected were raised with no love, from there, the pain was carried
down in many other forms and so forth. This brings me to the topic of my first notion, that education
is the root of decolonization. I am certain of this because, from what I understand nothing is so
persistent and forced into society more than education is. I am not concentrated strictly on schools, but
the idea that we are constantly surrounded by many possible sources of knowledge. A young child first
and foremost learns from its surroundings (its parents, siblings, media, etc...) and then usually put into
a school for further education. How a child is developed mentally plays such a huge role in his or her
life choices, and later on

Huckleberry Finn Character Analysis
Portrayed in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain reveals Huck s character to be
independent when he portrays himself as transparent, honest, and truthful; as a result, Widow Douglas
wants to civilize Huck because if he does not he will die according to his religion like his caretakers
say and will not go to heaven. In the piece, Twain reveals that ¨The widow she cried over me...called
me a poor lost lamb¨ (para. 3). By Widow Douglas naming him a ¨poor lost lamb¨ she thinks of him as
unordinary for being himself, an individual. The Widow wants to change his appearance and how he

According to the piece Miss Watson argues that ¨she was going to live as to go to the good place¨
(para.6). The piece supports the argument that Huck does not want to be in heaven with Widow
Douglas or Miss Watson. Miss Watson has to keep a respectful way of living to go to heaven and
Huck does not plan to convert the same way as them. Huck is not being what they considered
¨respectful¨ and instead is getting into his old rags, running away, and uneducated. Another example,
in the piece is when Huck illustrates that ¨There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the
truth¨ (para. 1). Huck refers to the author as lying in his stories in some cases just like Miss Watson
portrays herself as religious, but has an adopted son who she lives with that is not like society. She is
being a liar to the rest of the society because her religious allows her to be what she wants and that is
why she wants to change Huck because she is the religious one. Huck feels he is better off on his own
because he does not want to be raised by people who are not fully religious like they are claiming and
wanting Huck to be. To conclude, Huck is more comfortable having his freedom than what Miss
Watson is providing him

Evolution Of Airplane Research Paper
Aviation is something that has changed our lives in every way and it will still continue that way. It all
started with a balloon in the 1800 s. Then came the gliders but they were mainly just wings that you
glide on. That s when the Wright brothers thought of an idea that changed history. North Carolina the
Wright brothers flew their first full size glider (Berliner 77). They attached a body and inserted an
engine inside with a propeller and it flew! The propeller was there to thrust and the engine made the
propellers work and that s how it started. The second airplane, the 1904 Flyer, flew more that 100
times (Berliner 86). The Wright brothers became actually very successful. A million of them were

and crash. That s why it s got to be even. Airplane s are built so that their weight is spread from front
to back. This keeps the airplane balanced (NASA). The critical speed for lift is also changed based on
how much weight a particular flight packs. Most people think that airplane s are flying just by jets but
it s actually flying by 4 forces. You need lift to get off ground. You need drag for air resistance. You
need thrust for moving. You need weight to make you go faster. Each force helps the other and that s

Climate Control And The Greenhouse Effect
The way a greenhouse works is that sunlight shines in and warms up the plants, and some of that
radiation can t exit through the glass forcing the heat to stay in the greenhouse. The UV radiation
comes through the glass walls and warms the plants while weaker IR radiation has trouble getting
through the glass walls so it s trapped in the greenhouse; thus, warming it up (Lallanila, What Is the
Greenhouse Effect? ). Similarly, the Earth has incoming heat that is then trapped, warming up the
surface. It works the same way a greenhouse does hence the name the Greenhouse Effect (Lallanila,
What is the Greenhouse Effect? ). There are a few greenhouse gases that are responsible for the
Greenhouse Effect. Making up 1% of our atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide, Ozone, Methane, and Water
Vapor, act as a blanket that surrounds Earth to help regulate climate control (Rinkesh. Causes of the
Greenhouse Effect Conserve Energy Future. ). The Greenhouse Effect isn t bad. It actually helps us
survive on Earth. Without it, the Earth would be 30 degrees Celsius lesser which would be too cold
(Rinkesh. Causes of the Greenhouse Effect Conserve Energy Future. ). Some of the heat from the
greenhouse gases goes into space, while some of it burns along the atmosphere, and a small amount of
it finds its way into the Earth s surface (Rinkesh. Causes of the Greenhouse Effect Conserve Energy
Future. ). Because of this the Earth s temperature is raised (Rinkesh. Causes of the Greenhouse Effect

copious different species of animals and plants, and it is an environment that varies on the amount of
precipitation and goes through all the seasons throughout the year. The rainforest has more advantages

The first advantage the rainforest supplies the world with is oxygen. The trees and plants in the

medicines that cannot be created or located anywhere else in the world. A majority of the plants that
the rainforest is able to grow, provides the medicines that the world is in need of. Some examples of
medicines that came from the rainforest are cortisone, neostigmine, and vinblastine. Those
medications have helped treat glaucoma, and even pediatric leukemia. The third advantage that the

Comparing And Contrasting Cultures Essay

Comparing Cultures
October 21, 2017
Comparing Cultures
When comparing cultures, one must form a definition of what culture is. Culture can be easily defined
as the social behavior and normality s found in human societies. It can also be easily made up of a
composed arrangement of educated conduct and thought designs. Culture is a sorted out framework
since it includes many parts. Throughout the world, there are many cultures that are both very
different and also very similar. Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our
language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at table, how we greet
visitors, how we behave and one million other things. (Cristina De Rossi.) ... Show more content on

In people, culture must be learned through experiences. For most countries, learned behaviors are
passed down from one generation to the next. The purpose behind this is on the grounds that culture
isn t natural like in creatures because they are not conceived with it. People will begin to get their way
of life during childbirth and it takes numerous years to take in the way of life like how to talk the
dialect and comply with the rules that everyone must follow, that is the reason it is said we should
respect their elders.
The two countries that we are going to compare are India and China. The greatest contrast among
Indian China is the level of development in both nations. Advancement can be seeing more in India
than in China and the struck me the most. There could be many variables causing this distinction. To
begin with, let s examine the differences in the government of meat country. Since the meaning of
time, the Chinese government is continuing to do things their way heavily influencing what happens
in the country. They have inumerous laws that directly or indirectly cause a standstill with innovation.
The majority of the things our state possessed in China bus to begin something intends to first get

The Wonder behind The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank...
The Wonder behind The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Often, people who enjoy reading are found
disappointed by the film versions of their favorite books. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank
Baum and The Wizard of OZ movie produced by Vincent Fleming serve as a good example of a
distorted transition from text to film. While the novel was originally created to teach that anything is
possible with hard work and is a straightforward children s book, the film tacks on many unintended
morals, further changing the stories meaning. While which one preferred is only an opinion, adapted
aspect s of the novel including the reality of Oz, Kansas, and Dorothy s characterization each alter
what the story was meant to be, which was an innocent fairytale. In the film, Dorothy travels to Oz by
being sucked into a cyclone and then landing in the middle of a magical realm. Once the novels
reaches it s ending, Dorothy wakes up, having bumped her head, revealing that Oz was nothing but a
dream all along. In the novel Oz is a real place that Dorothy travels to and from. This idea is much

Donald Glover s Remedial Chaos Theory
The popular meme of Donald Glover walking into a room filled with chaos originally derives from the
NBC s comedic sitcom, Community which aired from 2009 to 2015 ( Community ). During the
episode that this scene is from, Remedial Chaos Theory , Troy and Abed host a housewarming party
for their new apartment, inviting their study group. When the pizza arrives, Jeff decides to roll a die to
decide who fetches it. According to Abed, this creates six possible timelines (in addition to the main
timeline),, in which he imagines all of them with magnified creativity. Remedial Chaos Theory was
highly received by Community fans, receiving a rating of 9.8 on the International Movie Database
website ( Remedial Chaos Theory ). Overall, this specific episode continues the show s parodical
sitcom style with alternating timelines, while further elaborating on the characterization of the study

For instance, in almost every sequence, Pierce gives or attempts to give his house warming gift to

decision to throw the gift away, neglecting his initial intentions of seeking vengeance. This displays
the subtle differences that one minor change, a different person going to fetch the pizza, makes in the
study group. One sequenceemphasizes Pierce s hateful and vengeful side, while another shows he s
capable of feeling empathy and regret. This is only one of many examples within the show where the

The Boston Celtics Argumentative Essay
The Boston Celtics season finally came to an end on Thursday night, as the Cleveland Cavaliers
wrapped up a 4 1 series win in the Eastern Conference Finals at TD Garden. The young Celtics
reached their first conference finals since 2012 and were led by their second team All NBA point
guard Isaiah Thomas, whose breakout performance led to a discussion of his name being mentioned in
the MVP race. Some will look at this Celtics season for what happened in the conference finals against
the Cavaliers. The team played their worst basketball at home, losing all three games at the TD

They blew the team up in the 2013 offseason and took the first step into a rebuild with a dismal follow
up that saw former fan favorites Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green get dealt for draft picks (and Jae

by Cleveland in 2014 15. After some more shuffling of the roster, they played a competitive series the
following year as the fifth seed, where they lost 4 2 to Atlanta, but stole Horford from them in
offseason. Now they have reached the conference finals and the only way to go for this team is up.
What is the next step? Some say it is to make a charge and beat LeBron James now and form your

LeBron s eventual downfall. What is certain though, is that the Celtics are poised to meet this

The Code of Chivalry Essay
The motto of chivalry is also the motto of wisdom to serve all, but love only one (Balzac 1). During
the Medieval Age, there once existed a moral system that introduced a set of conducts such as, virtues,
honor, and courtly love. This was known as the Code of Chivalry. These codes where available and
practiced in knight s daily life. The idea of chivalry is extremely valuable to the people, that even
everything a knight wore symbolized something valuable or unique. In other words, chivalry was no
game. Authors during the chivalric period were influenced by the concept of chivalry and romance

death for those knights who broke these code of chivalry ().
Not all men were assured to be knights. There were only two ways a man can become a knight. If a

of court, weapons, chivalry, writing, and music (). As the boy becomes older, around 13 years of age
he then would be a squire because he is starting to develop into their manhood. His training would

films from the twenty first century, the author evokes the readers to feel sympathetic for themselves.
By analyzing and breaking down the novel into three different sections, focusing his argument, the
author slowly transactions from an apprehensive tone to an optimistic tone. Simultaneously the author

interesting about the travel was the fact that during one of flights I was sat beside a drunk idiot and

fact I was kind of fatigued and the fact we were in a bigger city. On the travel to my cousins I fell

Separation Anxiety And Its Effects On Children
Separation anxiety is very common as children grow and develop. They may fear those few moments
during daycare drop off or that initial first meeting with a new babysitter. These children will often
times grow out of this anxiety after they become familiar with their surroundings and caregivers. But,
if they continue having these separation anxiety induced outbursts, even after they have been with a
trusted caregiver for a time, parents and primary caregivers often worry about the well being of their
child and their child s development. They may believe that their child has acquired a Separation
Anxiety Disorder (SAD). I selected this topic because I work with multiple toddlers in a center and
their parents have expressed some minor worry towards whether or not their child suffers with SAD or
if this anxiety is causing them delays. I would love to be able to know some minor details about this
broad topic and refer them to the website and articles that I found helpful when writing this report.
This topic is important because it is has many symptoms that are similar to regular and
developmentally appropriate separation anxiety. When a child suffers from SAD, it is something that
needs attention by a pediatric professional in order for it not to affect the child later in life. The first
article that I read and reviewed was called Adult Agoraphobia and Childhood Separation Anxiety:

As learned in class, the advantages of international business are great, but so are the risks. Some of the
risks involve ethical issues as the ones Chiquita faced doing business in Columbia. Chiquita was the
first to successfully internationalize banana trade; Chiquita did so by paying special attention to retail

Before a company decides to internationalize, many researches should be done on culture, political
situation and so much more. Knowing other countries laws and regulations will prevent such lawsuit
against your company. Codes of conducts, ethics hotlines should be provided to employees and that
has to come from the top management. Companies should look at long term goals versus short term
goals; companies whose culture is to just make profits at any cost faces these type of situation
Chiquita faced often. Even though outsourcing is a great way to cut back on costs, companies should
be very careful which countries they select to outsource in to prevent them from having a bad
reputation. For example if a company chose to outsource in let s say Nigeria, things are very corrupt
and doing business, outsourcing from there could be very profitable but in a very un ethical way. How
you want to represent your firm depends on the character of you as a CEO. Either you make unethical
decisions and get profitable very fast and get shares doubled in the wall street at any cost, or you have
ethics and you rather do things right and slowly get to profits. Strategic planning is extremely

As opposed to this a small business owner is the one whose objective is to manage stable growth,

Every business that comes into existence goes through these phases. Pre inception phase where in the
business model is developed, the assets are allocated and the process is defined. It is then followed by
the inception phase, which incorporates the analysis of the estimated risks and costs. Then beings the
construction phase, where the project plan is prepared and the stakeholders are ready for the system to
function. Then comes the production phase, where the production begins commercially. It initiates
growth of the firm. In the growth phase of any enterprise, there are lots of challenges with the
revenues or profits increasing. The peaking of profits, additional repairs and maintenance charges in
the maturity phase then follows. Post this phase, the enterprise moves towards retirement unless it
splits into a new business model or is taken over.
Many researchers have studied Enterprise growth for decades now. Irrespective of the fact that the

Argumentative Essay On Wolfdogs
A wolf dog hybrid is just what the name states: a cross between a wolf and a domesticated dog. They
are a breed that attempts to add a wild side to man s best friend. Imagine giving a belly rub to a wolf,
it sounds fun and exciting. However, seeing that they are part wild animal, wolfdogs create a lot of
problems. Many wolfdogs are dangerous and cause harm to their owners and end up either being put
down or badly abused. Would it be better for everyone if wolfdogs are not allowed as pets or even
bred in the first place?
As previously stated, wolf dog hybrids can be very dangerous. During a wolf s adolescence there is a
great increase in hormones, thus causing their wild animal instincts and behaviors to kick in.
Furthermore, physical and mental maturity happen at different rates for dogs and wolves, this makes it
hard to predict when a hybrid will come to that full maturity. Hybrids are known for being
unpredictable. In 2003, Koa, a 1½ year old hybrid from Idaho, was euthanized after killing a 13 month
old boy. Despite the fact that this was not Koa s first time injuring a child, it still came as a shock
since Koa was said to be good natured. When asked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rottweilers were involved in 122 of these deaths. Pit Bulls were involved in 22 American deaths in

Why Women Stay In Violent Relationships Essay
In every nation, individuals have seen or experienced violent relationships at some point in their lives.
Some people even have a pattern of being trapped in violent relationships. Usually, this individuals
that are caught in a love and war relationship are sometimes reluctant to leave. There are many reasons
for this social phenomenon that constantly occurs in violent relationships. According to Seccombe,
Intimate partner violence (IPV) refers to violence between those who are emotionally or sexually

Sociologist have even wondered, A common question is why women stay in an abusive situation
(271). Even though studies show that most of them do leave after a certain amount of time. It seems
there are many factors that keep men and women staying in violent relationships. Seccombe lists
many of them that are still relevant today. One of the tactics that abusers will use is the shaming tactic.
They will shame their victims or in this case, their intimate partners by blaming them for everything.
The abuser will blame their intimate partner for the reasons why the abuser is hitting them in the first
place. As crazy as it sounds, but this is very common in the psychological process of abusers. Another
reason why individuals stay in violent relationships is due to the fact that the victims feel ashamed. In
the psychological process, they feel people will judge them and look down on them. Plus, they are
aware that they are plenty of people who do not have violent relationships so they do not want people
knowing about their own violent relationship. Then, it does not help that the victim s self esteem are
usually low since the abuser has made them believe that they do not deserve a positive happy

  • 2. Howard Nemerov s The Vacuum The Vacuum Analysis Grief is the price we pay for love. Queen Elizabeth II. As the quote above explains to love something that can die is to welcome pain. The poem, The Vacuum focuses on the private aspect of life where one spouse dies leaving the other alone after many years. The speaker in the poem is battling grief and cannot bring himself to use the vacuum cleaner because his late wife used to take pride in a clean house. The composition implies that the speaker no longer cares about life now that his wife has died. The first few lines of the poem heavily foreshadow death, but do not directly address the event that has occurred. Howard Nemerov uses harsh, brutal diction such as stopped lung , dog dead , and old woman to imply the pain and isolation the speaker feels the word choice also gives the poem a depressing mood. Giving flashbacks to the past illuminates the theme of chaos and order in the poem. When the speaker s wife was alive she used to crawl, in the corner and under the stair as to make sure every nook and cranny was clean, but now old filth is everywhere. Creating the image in the reader s mind of a man sitting alone in his dirty house, not having enough strength to clean it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also draws parallels between the vacuum cleaner and his wife. Early in the poem the line the vacuum sulks in in the corner closet seems like an isolated statement until later in the poem he states that his wife used to crawl, in the corner . The speaker also mentions how when his wife died her soul metaphorically went into the vacuum cleaner. Later in the poem he says, I can t bear to see the bag swell... and begin to howl . As if his wife would be ashamed of how bad he has let the house ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Three Techniques To Integrate Database To The Web Analysis InfoHarness Repository Language, has the capability to generate simple metadata. It provides automation for generation of metadata; InfoHarness is often used to encapsulate raw data (heterogenous), and used as a runtime entity to search that encapsulated data. In this technique, when the data item arrives for archiving, information is automatically extracted and sent to a catalog named summary. Simultaneously, more information is gathered and sent to catalog named program. Now, the users have the ability to locate data from the summary, using which they analyze the data retrieved through program catalog. 4.3 Techniques to Integrate Database to the Web. The idea is to rebuild parts of the UI on web before executing/displaying them on the user s machine. Hence, improving the scalability issues that the web currently faces. Although it reduces the load of the server, this approach is largely platform dependent. For example, web programs written in java improves interaction with the database. i.e., it will limit the disadvantage of the stateless protocol (HTTP). Middle Layer approach, this technique mainly concentrates on the heterogenous form of the data and how to improve its integration to the web. CORBA, is an existing technique in this area that can be used to solve this issue. It supports interoperability between the objects. It is capable of handling different machines written in different languages, considering that these systems work mostly on a distributed/heterogenous environment. 4.4 Techniques to improve scalability factor for Web Based Databases Especially with the growth of web usage, there has come a time to relook into the design of both web based applications and traditional DB techniques that are currently in place to counter scalability issues. Below are some of the suggestions to improve the database techniques, In order to achieve a cut edge database application, there should be freedom for the web clients to update DB. Example, an accepted order should trigger the update of available quantity. The current and traditional DBs use conventional models for transaction purpose, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gender Is A Man Of The Physically Heritable Trait, Through... How I Learned to Drive has demonstrated that gender is a learned, in addition to the physically heritable trait, through society. Vogel stated that this play provides an opportunity to examine the issue at a microcosmic level at how we are taught at an extremely early age to look at female bodies (Mansbridge 124). The play is portraying a woman from her eleven years old to her forties. It detailed the process of how she gains her way to view her own body from her family, and especially Uncle Peck, can be seen clearly. This implied that our sexualities are gained through the society instead of ourselves, despite being the owner of our bodies. In order to successfully deliver Vogel s message, she revealed the secret at the end of the play in which Uncle Peck is a pedophile. Besides, various scenes were included before the revelation of the secret, such as interactions among Li l Bit s family and Uncle Peck provided a clear picture of the process of how Li l Bit became the victim of her uncle. It allowed the avoidance of the issue being preconceived by audiences as well as developing subjective opinions towards Uncle Peck through piecemeal information provided at each time points. In this way, the audiences are able to conceive Vogel s message more effectively. There are a few ways to view gender as a social construction, including: female sexuality and agency, femininity, masculinity and objectification of female. • 5. Sexism In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness And Things... Written in 1899, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad conveys a story of European colonization along the Congo River in Africa. Although his work lacks central female characters, some of those mentioned hold great influence in society and the power to predict the future. Despite these abilities, women are still largely ignored by the men in their midst. Conversely, Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart features a multitude of female figures, including oracles and priestesses, but much like Heart of Darkness, the majority of women in his work are belittled and viewed as unimportant. These two authors both showcase sexism in their works, as they promote stigmas surrounding females and a sense of male superiority that leads men to treat women as inferior. While the writers of Heart of Darkness and Things Fall Apart highlight the values certain females possess, they chose to depict sexist societies in which women are viewed as largely irrelevant and impotent. Conrad s story showcases a woman who has societal sway. When protagonist Marlow decides to travel to Africa, a land of financial opportunity, he realizes that he is unable to get there independently. After failing to obtain assistance from his male peers, he begrudgingly turns to his aunt for help. He even says, Then would you believe it? I tried the women. I, Charlie Marlow, set the women to work to get a job. Heavens! Well, you see, the notion drove me (Conrad 9). By vocalizing phrases like would you believe it and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The development of an incident reporting template will be supported by causation models identified as relevant to the construction industry. This template will be designed for a medium sized organisation defined as having 21 99 workers. This study starts by performing a review and literature critic of accident causation theories and models. This review highlights the two most relevant causation theories to the construction industry as Reason s Swiss cheese model and System dynamics model for the causation of unsafe behaviours (SD CUB). Both models are discussed in more detail with a comparison of model strengths and weaknesses. From the comparison an incident reporting template is developed. Finally it is argued that a systematic robust model should be applied that can manage the variables in the changing work environment of the construction industry and concludes risk ... • 13. Characteristics Of Heroism Heroes are just normal everyday people. They step up in the face of fear when it s necessary, but outside of that, they re just normal people trying to live their life. Ricky Martin, a singer, once said, Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. Anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity. ( Hero Quotes ) This quote reminds me of my grandpa, Duane Culbertson. He was a hero because he considered it his duty to help anybody in a difficult situation. After Duane Culbertson graduated high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was motivated by his dad who served in World War Two. Through his time in the Army he spent two years in Vietnam. While he served in Vietnam he was a Technical Sergeant, or what is known today as Sergeant first class. His job included working with lower ranking troops in technical situations and helping them move up. While he spent time in Vietnam he made friends from all over the country. If it wasn t for soldiers like him then the U.S. wouldn t be the country it is today. The Heroic Imagination Project has said that four traits of heroism are that it involves some kind of risk, it s done for others and not yourself, it s voluntary and there is no need for gain (Cherry, The Psychology of Heroism ). The overhead costs of the facility are fixed but could be offset by renting spaces during off peak hours for events such as business conferences or school events. They could also use their screens to show things other than major motion picture releases. With digital equipment I m sure there would be a way to contract with major networks and cable providers to show popular television series finales. The audiences of these series are hardcore fans. They could market the allure of a big screen and the opportunity to experience the show with other fans. For example the audience for shows like The Walking Dead, Homeland, and many other popular shows is a huge market. Often these shows air on nights that theatres have low attendance. The traumatizing effects of the schools had not only had a significant effect on the families directly involved, but also for generations to follow. According to the Manitoba Justice Institute, residential schools laid the foundation for the epidemic we see today of domestic abuse and violence against Aboriginal women and children.17 The high rates of domestic violence among Aboriginal families results in a vicious cycle of abuse and dysfunction over generations. The families directly affected were raised with no love, from there, the pain was carried down in many other forms and so forth. This brings me to the topic of my first notion, that education is the root of decolonization. I am certain of this because, from what I understand nothing is so persistent and forced into society more than education is. I am not concentrated strictly on schools, but the idea that we are constantly surrounded by many possible sources of knowledge. Climate Control And The Greenhouse Effect The way a greenhouse works is that sunlight shines in and warms up the plants, and some of that radiation can t exit through the glass forcing the heat to stay in the greenhouse. The UV radiation comes through the glass walls and warms the plants while weaker IR radiation has trouble getting through the glass walls so it s trapped in the greenhouse; thus, warming it up (Lallanila, What Is the Greenhouse Effect? ). Similarly, the Earth has incoming heat that is then trapped, warming up the surface. It works the same way a greenhouse does hence the name the Greenhouse Effect (Lallanila, What is the Greenhouse Effect? ). There are a few greenhouse gases that are responsible for the Greenhouse Effect. Making up 1% of our atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide, Ozone, Methane, and Water Vapor, act as a blanket that surrounds Earth to help regulate climate control (Rinkesh. While the novel was originally created to teach that anything is possible with hard work and is a straightforward children s book, the film tacks on many unintended morals, further changing the stories meaning. While which one preferred is only an opinion, adapted aspect s of the novel including the reality of Oz, Kansas, and Dorothy s characterization each alter what the story was meant to be, which was an innocent fairytale. In the film, Dorothy travels to Oz by being sucked into a cyclone and then landing in the middle of a magical realm. Once the novels reaches it s ending, Dorothy wakes up, having bumped her head, revealing that Oz was nothing but a dream all along. In the novel Oz is a real place that Dorothy travels to and from. This idea is much more exciting for the audience and especially children because it makes the story line more believable, allowing them to get lost in their imagination. In addition she asks her husband if he is able to follow what she is trying to say. Humbert managed to convince her that he is Lolita s true father which completely removes any suspicions on what he plans to do with Lolita. If Humbert failed to convince her, they might have questioned who should take custody of Lolita thus ending Humbert s plans. Seeing that Humbert can convince others of untruthful things there is no guarantee in the legitimacy of what he tells the reader. Making it difficult for readers to believe his defense. ...
