Essay On Same Sex Marriage
The topic for same sex marriage is a very emotional and spicey topic. Marriage is a beautiful
ceremony to celebrate the unity of two becoming one. However, when we put aside emotions
from facts there are clear reasons to support the cons sided of same sex marriage. Lets try for a
moment to do something that most of us rarely do. Allow me to persay you to consider the other
accuracy of the other side when it come to same sex marriage. That is can you for a few minutes go
against what you believe?
Medical benefits and taxes vary in the situation between male and female couples and same sex
couples. Income taxes will be increased to make up for marriage tax benefits of same sex
couples. Male and female couples get less taxes to be able to have they money to stabilize the
family. Same sex couples can t reproduce so they have more taxes due to the lack of not needing
as much money and and not being able to help increase the population. Medical insurance
premiums will rise to offset offset the high cost associated with same sex behavior. The male and
female couples have less bills and expenses. However, same sex couples deal with more medical
issues. Such as, colon cancer, fertility treatment and ect. Same sex couples have to give up many
benefits male and female couples get help with.
There is often a false assumption that strong feelings should determine behavior. Although, this
statement is not accepted in most of life situations and problems. In today s world we don t like

Seasonal Macy s Developing Gifts Case Study
Seasonal Macy s Employees Wrapping Gifts
Macy s seasonal employees must wrap gifts according to Macy s standards. Gifts need to be in
correctly measured wrapping paper, they need to be taped well, and they need to be decorated with
a ribbon or bow. This is important for adult learners in my audience (seasonal employees) because it
s their job to learn and apply what they learned. Overview of instructional design includes
instructional analysis, instructional goals/performance objectives, instructional methods/strategies,

There are five activities of instruction (pre instruction, content, learner participation, assessment,
and follow through). Pre instruction motivates learners, inform learners of objectives/ agenda,
inform and orient learners. Content information activities are new information, provide content and
process information. Learner participation activities allow learners to engage with content.
Assessment activities could be formal testing or informal testing. Follow through activities include
providing job aids, promote retention, and encourage transfer of learning. Five activities of
instruction were used when designing instruction. Pre instruction is the presentation (handout about
gift cards). Content is demonstration. Learner participation is demonstration. Demonstration is the
best method because the learner can get hands on practice which is needed for psychomotor skills.
Assessment is the test. Follow through would be a video link/handout given at the beginning of

The Approach of Nonviolence Essay
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind (Mahatma Gandhi), welcome to the world of non
violence, not similar to disney land but merely a small philosophical village coated in white,
decorated with crystals and abundant in doves; white resembling peace, crystals for clarity and
pure spirit and doves for .. I don t know, I guess I have been driven by my imagination.
There is a considerable debate about the precise meaning of nonviolence. Some people believe that
nonviolence is a philosophy and strategy for social change that rejects the use of violence. In other
words, nonviolence is a method for resolving a conflict without the use of physical power nor
enmity towards opponents. Instead, it emphasizes you to look beyond ... Show more content on

Day by day humans tend to be inhuman; selfishness, cruelty, hatred, jealousy and materialism
have ripped off the warmth from our lives making it cold and unsafe. A man may allow himself a
wide latitude in the matter of diet and yet may be a personifier of ahimsa and compel our
homage, but a man who is always over scrupulous in diet is an utter stranger to ahimsa and pitiful
wretch, if he is a slave to selfishness and passions and is hard of heart. (Gandhi, The Gospel of
Non Violence)
Gandhi expresses the problem of selfishness and greed among humans, thus turning themselves
into slaves for power, wealth and fame. Allah the all mighty talks about this very same point in
his holy Quran by saying We have certainly created man in the best of stature (At tin 95:4) and he
also says Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (Al insan 76:3),
although the literal meaning of these scriptures may seem different, but the true meaning needs
explanation, and those two scriptures meant that Allah all mighty, have created human beings free;
not obliged by any person or anything. But humans blinded by their greediness, became slaves for
materialistic assets forgoing morality, knowledge and wisdom. And to defeat all this, we need to
practice nonviolence as a way of living, because it will help us to retain the forgone moral
possessions which are the key ingredients for a peaceful, truthful,

Who Is Leopold A Conservationist
Leopold starts by comparing conservationists to hunters by saying conservationists use laws and
other methods to make animals to stay put and take advantage of them, much similar to hunters.
Conservationists include those who use the land for recreational use. They are there to make money
and use the animals as properties and ways to make money. Another comparison brought up by
Leopold is between the duck hunter and the operatic singer. They are both used as a form of
entertainment and thus, self pleasure. Although both the conservationists, those who take
advantage of animals by watching or taking pictures, and hunters are similar in different ways, they
disagree on laws concerning their actions. They both use the animalsfor recreation and

Odb Personal Response
Every day I stand near the garbage compactor and watch pounds and pounds of produce go down
the garbage hole never eaten for many reasons. Some produce is simply too ugly for customers
to want to consume, for example like a deformed bell pepper, a bent cucumber, a freckled
banana. Some produce is gently bruised like an apple that was pressed a little too hard or a
tomato that was bruised from customers testing it for juiciness. So much produce that has little to
nothing wrong with it is simply thrown away every day at local grocery stores like Albertsons.
Meanwhile, there is anywhere up to 200 hungry homeless in Denton County (Point in time Survey.)

The main concern when population increase is brought up is how are we going to feed
everyone? The answer to this question is not a new farming technique or a new genetically
modified plant that grow at the speed of light. The answer is simply a change in our lifestyle and
to stop wasting so much food. My mother and father every weekend go out and buy a weeks
worth of groceries and a lot of times they buy too much of a food that we already have or they but
avocados that will go bad by the time we need to use them. This creates so much unnecessary waste
and we are all guilty of it. I once met a woman who lived in France and she told me about how
every day after work she bought the groceries she needed for that night and the two benefits to
this were that her food was always fresh and she never threw out food. To be honest I had never
thought of only buying what you needed for that night it always made sense to me to buy
everything at once and get it over with and not have to worry about buy groceries until next
weekend. Little did I realize that this is the mindset that causes so much waste because we are
simply unaware of the problems that we are creating. The combination of the food waste we throw
out as consumers and the food waste that is thrown out by businesses across the globe is 1.3
Billion tons which is over a third of what the globe produces; this is a number that is much

Stalinist Gulag Camps And Violations To Human Rights
Stalinist Gulag Camps and Violations to Human Rights There are many types of different labor
camps that were meant to confine a group of people, but one of the most significant were
Stalinist Gulags, leading to the disappearances of millions of people. The Stalinist Gulags are in
violation of many articles, but a few are Articles 4, 5, 9, and 10. Article 4 is stated that no one
shall be held in slavery, which in Gulags they are doing forced and unpaid labor. Article 5 states
that no one should be subjected to cruel, and degrading treatment or punishment, which there
was quite a bit of that happening in gulags. Article 9 says that no one should be subjected to
arbitrary arrest (random arrest), detention or exile, people would just be randomly put in the
camps if they were thought to be rebels, without a hearing that is. And the last Article, Article 10,
states that everyone should have a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial
tribunal, but people would commonly just disappear and no one would know where they went,
But really they were taken to Gulags to work. Stalinist Gulags violated the articles of Declaration
of Human Rights because of how prisoners were treated and also how they were incarcerated in
camps. Gulags were labor camps that were used during the Stalin era, people were sent there for all
types of reasons but mostly petty crimes and opinions. Gulagis an acronym for something else

Should There Be Stricter Gun Control Laws In The United...
Guns or No Guns
INTRODUCTION:
The role guns play in our society has long been debated on whether or not citizens have the right to
own guns. There are those who believe that guns have no role in the hands of private citizens.
Whereas there are those who believe that guns are the very foundation that protects our rights and
liberties expressed in the Constitution. The debate is over whether or not there should be stricter
laws preventing people to own guns. Though gun control and gun rights advocates share similar
views on background checks and requirements, each have different views on the safety of guns and
the Second Amendment meaning.
Safety: CONTRAST
Both sides of gun control advocates believe that the safety of American citizens is the most
important thing within the argument of the ban of guns, but they both have different views on how
it should be handled.
No Guns:
Some people believe that the United States is safer when citizens are not allowed access to guns.
The amount of organized crime would go down because all of their power is derived from their
use of firearms and that is a significant amount of their profit. Gun control laws protect children and
families; Moms Demand Action, a grassroots group founded in response to the tragedy at Sandy
Hook Elementary School, believes guns in America are creating a public health crisis that is
attacking children, citing statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second amendment clearly gives Americans the right to bear arms which led to the founding of
our country ( The Constitution of the United States, Amendment 2). Gun advocates believe the new
legislation will separate them from their rights because putting laws on their firearms will be
against Amendment II. The right to bear arms for self defense is protected in all states as well as
the U.S. Constitution.

What was the Women’s Suffrage Movement, and How did it...
Suffrage: the right to vote in political elections. The men in America have always had the right
to vote. They have always had the right to do whatever they wanted. Women, on the other hand,
have not. They haven t always been allowed to vote. 1920 marked a significant landmark in
American history. Women in all parts of the country voted in a political election for the first
time. This may not sound like that big of a deal, but to the women of the 19th and 20th
centuries. In the 1800s, women were not allowed to have a say in what was perceived to be a
man s world. They were expected to be mothers and housewives. Nothing more, nothing less.
Women tried to get legislation to pass a reform, but they refused to listen. Because of this, they felt
they needed to gain the right to vote. Seneca Falls, NY in 1848 marked the start of the women s
suffragemovement. The movement, being led by many influential women, such as Susan B.
Anthonyand Elizabeth Cady Stanton, was said to be one of the largest political movement of the
20th century. According to the National Women s History Museum, the movement was the ...single
largest enfranchisement and extension of democratic rights in our nation s history ( Rights for
Women: The Suffrage ). The advocacy for women s suffrage quieted down during the Civil War,
but was brought back to life with the proposal of the 15th amendment, which would give black men
the right to vote. When women s suffrage was brought back to the national scene, a

Paulo Freire s Perceptual Activity
Paulo Freire discusses the concept of perceptual activity in his article The Importace Of the Act
of Reading. Unlike Tingle who father extends his arguments with statements made by other
schlors, Freire explains the importance of reading and how the moments in each stage of his
life shaped how he read and interpreted the world. Freire argues that the world that an individual
is raised in affects the words that they read therefore affecting their concept of the world. Freire
flashes back to his childhood where he gives a indepth description of his childhood surroundings.
He uses figurative language such as the tres were like persons to me (6). He gives such descriptive
details of his first world that if a reader was to close their eyes, they can imagine the old house, the

Besides his environmental surroundings, watching people increased his perceptual view of the
world. Compared to Tingle who discusses the struggle of perceptual activity from a working
class standpoint, it is clear that Freire s perceptual activity is more in a middle class mindset. His
childhood and education was more of a success where Freire attended Eunice Varsconcello s
private school. Freire s perceptual activity was encouraged by his family who helped expand his
world. Unlike Tingle who was not encouraged to talk or challenge authority throughout his working
class upbringing, Freire states that Exercising my boy s curiosity did not distort it, nor did
understanding cause me to scorn the enchanting mystery of the world. In this I was aided rather
than discouraged by my parents (7). Indeed both Tingle and Freire bring forward their personal
experiences in explaining the importance of perceptual activity from upbringing, They both explain
the concept of perceptual activity in two different stand points;the working class and the middle

College Women Stop Getting Drunk and College Men Stop...
Sexual assault encompasses the criminal act of rape; however it seems as if many relative cases
spawn from various alcohol encounters. In Emily Yoffe s article College Women Stop Getting

Performing rape accidentally, or knowingly I do agree with Yoffe s statement Let s be totally
clear: Perpetrators are the ones responsible for committing their crimes. In Yoffe s article she covers
both the perpetrator as well as the victim, though spending more time on the latter. I feel that

Colleges are supposed to be places where young people learn to be responsible for themselves. I
find this slightly out of place, as haven t students always been taught that learning environments
should be safe? I understand that the big leagues are different from the minor leagues, but even
still places such as UNLV have a place to for rapevictims. Also Yoffe states that for most college
students drinking are Illegal! Couldn t authorities place higher priority on these incidents?
Even to men as done by Ann Friedman in College Men Stop Drinking Unlike Yoffe, she tells her
son to not get involved period. It has a more general tone suggesting not committing the act, or
falling victim to it, covering two sides of involvement. Yoffe s article on the other hand seems to fall
in line more statistically with men being the assailant and women the innocent. She does mention
men being victimized too though.
Hess plays an intriguing card in her article, if this has been a problem even before women started
binge drinking, then, why has the issue grown instead of diminishing, I also wonder though
about the difference in male and female drinking. Perhaps this is stereotyping, but I wonder if
women really do prefer the drinking glass with the olive versus the bottle or can of beer? Taking
drinking capacity into mind, could a drink in Yoffe s article be talking about Martini and Wine
glasses or beer

Nootropics Or Brain Steroids
Nootropics are brain drugs also sometimes known as brain steroids or smart drugs . In other words
these are pills, medicines and other supplements designed to improve your cognitive performance
and make you smarter, more alert and more focused. They might also boost memory or mood or
any other aspect of mental performance. These work in many different ways and their mechanism
of action is part of what dictates their effects.
Many nootropics are simply stimulants along the lines of caffeine, guarana or thermogenics. These
work by speeding up the metabolism and thus increasing wakefulness and energy thereby increasing
awareness and memory. Others are neurotransmitters which work by aiding the communication of

Nurturing Relationships Between Adults And Children

The Impact of Digital Technology on Today s Children
In a world dominated by technology, it is appropriate for adults to have concerns about the impact
it is having on children. While most of this concern does stem from the experiences of their own
childhood when there was less technology, more play time outside, and life was just simply much
easier, the fact of the matter is that the children today and the future generations to come are going
to grow up in a technological realm. Today, children as young as four years old, are regularly using
digital technology on multiple different platforms such as the Internet, mobile devices, and
gaming consoles. A 2013 Nielsen Connected Devices report found that in households that have a
tablet and/or computer and with children under 12 years of age, 70% of the children used the
tablet; 70% of those children used it for entertainment purposes, and 57% used the tablet for
educational purposes. The report, of course, raises the obvious question of rather or not early
exposure of digital technology can have negative effects on child development especially regarding
their brains. In truth, there is no easy answer because like most things in life, there are both good
and bad attributes to it and the exact same thing can be applied in this situation. For instance, while
technology can be used for positive educational purposes, there are also serious psychological
concerns.

of the club for putting up this kind of forum. This is highly commendable and I salute your
outstanding leadership! I also greet my audience with great humility, for while some are on their
bed sleeping off destiny, you have rather chose to search for knowledge. It takes few men to rule
the world, and the few I believe, constitutes this audience. 2 The topic before me simply states;
The Role of Discipline in Destiny Fulfillment. It is such a very interesting subject matter.
Whosoever may have thought of it has done quite a very good job. Many people dream about
fulfillment, but only few see it, for while they are still on the road to destiny, many young girls
become young mothers and young boys take to drug and other dangerous habits. And as we
together dissect the topic, I beseech you all to demonstrate the first discipline, by listening with
open minds. 3 Before I begin to analyse all my analytical analysis, we may need to define some
terms and terminologies for us to have a proper comprehension. Discipline is defined as a method

My First Day Of College
College Freshmen
My first day of college is one of the most important experiences of my life. The semester began
on August 28, 2017. In that morning, I had plenty of time compared to high school. I overslept
because I knew college starts only at 10 a.m. I had an alarm set for 9 a.m. Once I woke, I took a
shower and got ready. HACC is about minimum 8 minutes away from my house. By 9:40 a.m., I
was on my way to the Harrisburg Area Community College. I was full of confidence that I will
reach the campus on time, but the opposite happened. It was my life goal to go to college,
however, there came the complication because I was unaware of the incomprehension and
unfamiliarity of being freshmen in college. As a former new student, I got a little lost before I
arrived at my math class. Once I reached the HACC parking lot, I wasted more than 10 minutes
going around the parking lot looking for an empty spot. While I was driving around, I felt very
frustrating. Besides, I was running late to class. Unfortunately, I did not consider a full parking
lot. Suddenly I remembered, when I came to college orientation I parked my car across a small
bridge where a new parking lot was under construction. I drove there and found out they finished
constructing the new parking lot. There were a lot of empty parking spots. I parked my car and
quickly walked toward Whitaker Hall rushing to find my math class. I had a map of the campus,
which listed all names and locations of specific buildings. In

John Michael Malins V Solicitors Regulation Authority Case...
Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835
(Admin) 2017 WL 01339062
Summary:
The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service
to his client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In
2012, the law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012
and came into force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date
would no longer be entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such
costs if a notice in form N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the
appellant thought that he had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side
affirmed during mediation, in January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was
informed by his assistant that he failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a
letter and a form N251 with a later date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently
relied on it during the settlement.
In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported
it to the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to
the SRA as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form.
They also alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors
Disciplinary Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with
acting without integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction
and sentence.
Legal issue:
The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty
when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of
integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and
integrity was.
Critical analysis:
The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse
of honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and

The Ethics of GMO Usage
Genetically modified organism (GMO) usage has been an almost taboo subject for many years.
The opinions of the people on both sides of the issue are fueled with emotion and extreme. The
problem with this is that A staggering one in three European citizens agrees with the statement that
ordinary tomatoes don t have genes but genetically modified ones do (Gibney 15). This lack of
information could be a cause of the resistance. People who do not understand GMOs thus cling to

Pamela Ronald, a plant geneticist, a states that in underdeveloped countries, incorrect pesticide use
leads to around 300,000 deaths. If the insecticide is put into the plant, like it can be with GMOs,
than the use of insecticides will decrease dramatically. Around 40% of craps are lost because of
disease and insects (Ronald). It is clearly evident that with insecticide use, GMOs have a
potential to save many lives if used in the correct way. Scientists are very concerned however
because as Piette mentions, insects are becoming more resistant to the insecticides being used, as
a result of 24 times the recommended amount is being used in some cases (96). Scientists are
concerned because if this cycle of overusing pesticides continues, a new solution will need to be
found as insects will become completely resistant to the pesticides. Currently, there are GMO
products that are contributing to this potentially damaging cycle of pesticide use. Resnik states that
Roundup crops are those that are resistant to Roundup. As a result of this, farmers can use more
Roundup, knowing that their plants won t die but the weeds around them will. This could result in
negative effects on nearby plants and possibly the environment (111 112). Not only is this seen in
Roundup crops, it is also seen in other types of genetically modified crops. Mike Gibney, the

Utilizing Online Social Networking Sites Essay
Social Networking
Business and Human Services organizations all over the world try to look for different ways to
improve and be successful. One of the ways organizations have been able to maintain success is by
networking and linking themselves with similar organizations. A website that provides
organizations with this type of networking is LinkedIn. In week two I was given the task to research
and understand why such sites as LinkedIn help human service organizations stay connected with
their professional community and other human service professionals. In addition to researching
how these sites enhance more quality services and support and how additional training keeps you

Being tied into an online community helps an organization stay connected to other human service
agencies and the ability to offer more types of support services. For example, one human service
agency may provide speech and occupational therapy, where as their community link specializes in
integration behavioral therapy, which their client needs. What then happens is a quality referral to
that agency. These two organizations were able to work together, provide more services, all for the
greater good of the client s needs. How it works is that an online user can search for an organization
under the search tool. Once an organization is found the user could research statistics regarding the
organization, location, and who runs it. The user can then ask to follow the organization and
become a networking connection.
Training
Training and continuing education is an important aspect to any human service agency.
Organizations need to be able to provide training opportunities to their employees to keep them up
to date and remain competitive in their field. New types of therapies and research are developed all
the time and directors and employees need to be aware of them. Through LinkedIn and staying in
touch within their online community, organizations can now attend approved training sponsored
by different organizations. Some organizations can even upload the training online so that
employees can do their

An Article An Officer And A Muslim Zionist
Sebastyne Young has said, A picture can tell a thousand words, but a few words can change its
story (Young). In 2012 Ala Wahib posed for what he thought would be an ordinary picture
however the image became extraordinary due to its inclusion in an article titled An officer and a
Muslim Zionist . It is important that at first glance it is not clear that the officer is a Muslim
because it counters a stereotype that all Muslims look alike or that Muslims are at war with
Jews. In the article Wahib is asked about how he feels about being the highest ranking Muslim
officer in the Israeli army and a Zionist. The illustration of a Muslim soldier in the IDF is a great
example of how images can have varying interpretations based on ones perspective. There is a
problem in the modern world with the way we look and understand images having to do with
Islam. Efforts taken by the media to share images which creates a positive perspective on Islam,
are rare. Instead images that cause the public to connect Muslims to terror and radicalism are
common because the media utilizes punctum s such as, an image of a young victim of a terror
attack, to tap into ones emotions, gaining the public s attention. the reason why the media cares
about increasing their audience is because the world revolves around money and unfortunately the
world has become so used to opening up the newspaper in the morning and seeing negative images,
that positive images don t appeal to media moguls. An important

Courbet s Burial At Ornans Andean-Gleaners
A Formal Analysis of Gustave Courbet s Burial at Ornans and Jean François Millet s Gleaners
The realism era came about during the time of the Romantics, the time where imagination and
ideology painted the artists canvas. To be a realist meant that an artist would paint what he
actually saw and not an idea of something. For instance, if an artist were to paint a depiction of
war, then all the gruesome details would probably be considered in the piece of art. The artist that
essentially paved the way out of Romanticism and into the era of Realism was Gustave Courbet
considered by some to be the first realist.
Gustave Courbet was born in region of France called Franche ComtГ© in 1819. Courbet was the
oldest child in the family and he had three sisters that he was very close with, although the older
he got the more he rebelled against his parent s wishes for him to become a lawyer; Gustave
wanted to be an artist, so he eventually did break from the ideals of his parents and instead set
out on his own path. Gustave was known as a rebel and in his unconventional way changed the
way art was viewed. Gustave said of himself, I offend, therefore I am. He had a strong disdain for
the government and this proved to be an asset in who he would one day become. Gustave, with his
rebellion of the traditional style of artistry, observed the works of others and ... Show more content

The artist came from humble beginnings of a hard working family. One day Millet drew a
perfect picture on his wall and caused his father to see the gift that his son had, so at the urging

break from the conventional artistic styles of the past, so around 1849 he rented a cottage where
he realized that he loved the views of the country side and peasant life. His observations led him to
begin drawing and painting landscapes and a realistic approach to peasant

Disadvantages of Implementing HTTPS
Cost There is an extra cost to obtain SSL Certificate, and hidden one s are administrative cost for

Slower HTTPS is somewhat slower in comparison with HTTP. It adds calculation overhead and
network overhead.
HTTPS cannot stop stealing personal information from the webpage s cache on the browser.
Because, SSL only translate data in coding, during transmission while in network, it is clear text in
the browser memory. HTTPS server can only offer one virtual host behind a single socket, whereas
HTTP provide multiple socket.
How would HTTPS will protect you using a public Wi Fi connection at a local coffee shop?
It is made to deliver us sheltered connection all over the place where ever people access protected

Gun Control Laws Should Be Stricter Laws
Many people believe there should be stricter gun control laws. By this they mean, regulate the sale,
manufacture, possession, transfer, and use of firearms. They believe if the government does not
make stricter gun control laws, then gun violence and deaths due to guns will only continue to
increase over the years. Although there are many people for guncontrol laws, there are many
people who are also against it. Some of the people who are against gun control laws probably
will not understand why there should be stricter gun control laws until something happened to
them or someone in their family due to a gun crime. The United States did not have the civil
authorities as we do today. Americans had to rely on guns to protect themselves as laws evolved.
Times were different in America and that is why the Second Amendment was ideal. Guns were
not as dangerous then as they are now. Firearms at the time were very slow to load and that is one
of the reasons gun control was not a real big issue. Gun control started to become necessary when
the rates for accidental deaths and gun violence were continuing to increase.
The National Firearms Act was enacted in 1934. The National Firearms Act was not created to
make money, but to lower the crime rates and make it impossible for people to buy and sell
automatic fire weapons. Today many people hope that gun control laws will get stricter by
allowing longer and more background checks that go more in depth. Today the background check is

A Summary Of The Gunpowder Plot
Remember, remember, the fifth of November; we all know the rhyme but how well do we really
know the story? In the essay I will explore how the plotters were punished and why they were
punished so severely. Before you can explore the punishments, you first have to know the story.
The Gunpowder Plot started on May 20th 1604; however, the reasons behind the plot started
many years prior to that. In fact, the entire reason behind the plot dated back to Henry VIII,
when religious turmoil broke out. You could say, all hell broke loose. It all started when Henry
made his break from Rome to allow him to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon. This made
England a Protestant country which many didn t like, or rather, hated. This turmoil continued for
many years, as the next king, Edward, kept Protestantism whilst Mary, the following monarch,
(also known as Bloody Mary) changed the national religion back to Catholicism and took her
religion to further extremes by burning Protestants. Upon Mary s death Elizabeth I took the
reigns and, yet again, switched the religion. She also persecuted those who didn t follow the
same religion as her, as she made it illegal to be a Catholic and illegal to go to a non Protestant
Church. James VI of Scotland came to the throne next and he, despite thoughts that he might have
been kinder to Catholics, kept the aforementioned Recuncansy Laws. The country was a mess.
This is where the plot we know so well comes in. A man named Robert Catesby was fed up,

The Interpretation Of The South On Alternate Voices, And...
Franklin opened the interpretation of the South to alternate voices, and gave a firm framework on
establishing the different perspectives relevant for Woodward s experiential not one South thesis.
The points of contention between their interpretations are telling about Southern histories, and their
reputations evidenced the lingering effects of institutionalized racism, as Woodward often gets credit
for opening Southern history to African Americannarratives. However, it was Franklin that did it
first and allowed for agency, while Woodward s narratives most featured black victimization
/victimhood. Despite some differences in interpretation, Franklin and Woodward would become
two of the most influential historians of the twentieth century. Only recently does it seems more
women, more minorities, more identities are writing southern history from their unique viewpoints
and interpretations. All of them aided by the path laid by Franklin. His influence is clear in the
works of Tera Hunter, Mary Hoffschwelle, Karen Cox, Pippa Holloway, and all of the most recent
histories of the South.Franklin s essays mirrored role of African American in Southern
historiography. Starting out, African Americans were given little or no attention at all, then came
outright racist histories, then blacks as subjects of white actions/ideologies, and finally, blacks as
full historical actors, controlling their own lives, demonstrating their own agency, controlling their

The Stanford Prison Experiment And Jonestown
Follow the Leader Human beings perform actions that are often deemed illogical or detrimental.
The activities are regularly enforced, encouraged, and compounded by others. The actions can be
related to categories such as authority pressure, peer pressure, and situational pressure. In looking at
articles like The Stanford Prison Experiment and Jonestown , the categories above can be
confirmed. The articles show how people conform to the circumstances that surround them and
provide little or no objection to the situation. The use of a tobaccoproduct is a prime example of a
detrimental action that people participate in due to the pressures placed on them or innuendos that
are implied through authority, peers, or situations. Authoritative pressure could be defined as a type
of coercion that is imposed by an individual in a supervisory or authoritarian role within a
workplace or industry. Similar to the experiment that Mills discusses Stanley Milgram, PhD
conducting in More shocking results: New research replicates Milgram s findings , supervisors
replace teachers and new employees replicate students. In my experience, a large portion of men
employed on construction sites participate in the use of some form of tobacco, most notably,
chewing tobacco. Construction workers often begin their initial employment in the industry as
general laborers or construction helpers. The general progression for advancement leads each
employee to a more specialized and skilled position,

Research Question:Are there correlations between different risk factors that teenagers possess that
attribute to Type 2 diabetes and what do they mean in reference to the chances of future diagnosis
and health?
Type 2 Diabetes is a prevalent and growing epidemic in South Texas, according to the American
Diabetes Association. It is the community s duty and obligation to recognize the problems and risk
factors that attribute to Type 2 Diabetes, so that further generations can avoid these lifestyle habits.
Type 2 Diabetes is an insulin deficiency disease that occurs in people aged 40 or older, and is
much more common than Type 1 Diabetes because it can be acquired genetically, but it is more
commonly a progressive disease based on the individual s unhealthy lifestyle, which is why
adolescents are still at risk to contract Type 2 Diabetes. When a person has Type 2 Diabetes, they
may suffer from insulin resistance. The insulin levels in their body are too low, or the cells in a
person s body do not respond properlyto the correct amount of insulin. Insulin is a hormone

individual s blood. Sugar must be stored for the future or used as energy by the body. Without

communities there would have been spoken side by side for many generations (ibid). Due to long

Effects Of Oral On Athletic Performance And Health
The Effect of Oral ATP Supplements on Athletic Performance and Health
Abstract
During the past 20 years, the nutritional supplement creatine monohydrate has continuously gained
popularity and recognition as a successful nutritional strategy to gain muscle mass and strength.
Countless studies have been conducted to observe the effects of creatine supplementation on
physical performance of individuals, along with its effect on the health of the tested individuals.
These studies have found that creatine supplementation does indeed have a beneficial effect on
physical performance by increasing strength and muscle mass, while not providing any serious
health concerns to those who consume it.
Literature Review
Over the past 20 years, the nutritional supplement creatine monohydrate has been gaining immense
popularity, with documented sales from $50 million in 1996 (Bamberger, 1998) to over $400
million during 2001 (Metzl et al., 2001). Creatine supplementation first started to gain popularity
after Olympic athletes from the Barcelona Olympic Games believed that their performance had
benefited from taking creatine supplements (Anderson, 1993). Since then, creatine has become one
of the most widely utilized nutritional supplements worldwide (Williams et al., 1999). A reason for
this may be that creatine is not banned by the National Collegiate Athlete Association (NCAA) or
the International Olympic Committee. However, NCAA coaches are not allowed to provide

Essay On Should The Government Regulate The First Amendment

Why would not the United States Government regulate the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights?
People in the government, and not in the government have many examples why the government
should not regulate the first amendment. The First Amendment gives us many freedoms. The
United States Government should not regulate the First Amendment.
For example, the United States Government should not regulate the First Amendment because
natural born or naturalized citizens have the right to exercise these freedoms. They decided to wear
black armbands to create a policy that stated that any students wearing an armband would be asked
to remove it, with refusal in suspension (Oyez, 1). Students at that school wore armbands, but some

The Pursuit For World Domination
In the early 20th century, world domination was a realistic notion advocated by American leaders,
specifically, then Governor and future President, Theodore Roosevelt. Many outspoken political
commentators opposed this notion and believed world domination was excessive and unnecessary
and was not in America s best interest. One of these political commentators was none other than the
revered Mark Twain, who, in his 1901 satirical piece, To the Person Sitting in Darkness , attempts to

the pursuit for world domination as a game between coercive countries and highlighting the

apparent that Twain is implying that the nations who house person s sitting in darkness have not

The New Class Of Anti Diabetic Drugs
Abstract
Glitazones are the new class of anti diabetic drugs that are the first to be able to manage
glycaemia goals. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn
from the market by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone
were introduced in 1999 as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is
under black box warning for increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a
nutshell as the drug required more investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the
adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in
the future.
Introduction
Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes
mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in
1950s the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of
glitazone or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14).
Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin
resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor Оі
(PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The
PPAR Оі controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the
metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have

Were the Founding Fathers Democratic Reformers Essay
Andy TranMr.Banks10/6/2014
Were the Founding Fathers Democratic Reformers? After reading both view points of John P.
Roche and Howard Zinn, I felt like there were more things to back up the arguments made by Zinn,
which is one of the reasons why I think that the founding fathers were not in fact democratic
reformers. The founding fathers were wealthy statesmen who worked for the best of their interests
to preserve their wealth. Howard Zinn s writing discusses the American Revolution, putting military
actions in social and cultural context. On one hand, forming a militia quickly was possible because
so many colonists were armed. On the other hand, the new nation soon started forcing sailors to join
the war, which had been one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, many of the founding fathers were wealthy, came from good families and were well
educated. Howard Zinn states that the founding fathers based the Constitution off of their own
personal experiences without considering the past experiences of the average citizen. That does not
mean that they were completely selfish and based the whole Constitution around them, it just
means that many of their economic interests were reflected in the Constitution itself. He goes on
about how economic interests were seen in the clauses of the Constitution and the founding fathers
had a direct economic interest in forming a strong central government. According to Zinn, the
founding fathers thought factions came from inequalities in wealth. Further into the reading he said
that the Constitution was meerly the work of certain groups trying to maintain their privilages
while giving enough rights and reason to the people to get a majority to support them. I think that
Zinn s arguments were backed up very well with information or logistic examples. I think that the
founding fathers were democratic reformers to a certain extent but in the Constitution, minorities
such as slaves, indentured servants, women and men without property were not really mentioned
which kind of shows that the Constitution was aimed for more of the elite class, usually all who had
plenty of wealth and heald a good social status. I feel like

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Group Therapy
Reichenberg, 2014). This text speaks to the fact that other groups could be based on the idea of
racism, oppression or discrimination (Earlet, 2000). This means that the facilitator must be willing
to bracket (Seligman Reichenberg, 2014) his own values and be willing to understand the position
of the group members.
Moreover, due to the nature of the therapy being in a form of a group, the facilitator is required to
develop, alongside the members, group norms and boundaries (Schachter, n.d.). This is important
as it will serve as a way of maintaining order and respect within the group itself (Schachter, n.d.).
Furthermore, the facilitator is required to convey some level of care for the group as well as use
this as an opportunity to model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, should a group facilitator follow the order above, it is also essential to mention that the
stages do not necessarily persist for a long time and at times, facilitators cannot tell when they ve
moved on the next stage. 8. THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF GROUP
THERAPY. 8.1. Advantages of Group Therapy.
8.1.1. Diversity of Opinions.
Group therapy allows different individuals to come together and share their thoughts, feelings and
ideas (Occupy Theory, 2014). Through this interaction group members are able to eliminate
negative feelings and experience a sense of relief after sharing their experiences and opinions
(Occupy Theory, 2014).
8.1.2. Establishing Comaraderie and Social Support.
Another advantage of group therapy is that it is empowering and encourages individuals to meet
other people and establish comradeship (Occupy Theory, 2014). In terms of social support, group
therapy allows an individual to have a well diversified and strong support structure from other
group members (occupy Theory, 2014). Depending on the number of times in which the group
meets each member will have built a strong social support at the end of each session. 8.1.3. Group

Analysis Of A Pair Of Tickets By Amy Tan
A Pair of Tickets by Amy Tan uses unpretentious yet intense symbolism and imagery to make a
wonderful story with layers of importance and significant profundity that one can t completely
acknowledge unless you read it more than once.
The story is around an American conceived Chinese lady, Jing mei, who goes to Chinato meet her
twin stepsisters that her mom was compelled to relinquish numerous prior years. Since her mom
had passed away just a couple of months prior, the meeting is full of vulnerability and bitterness.
Jing mei battles with self character issues and what it truly intends to be Chinese. En route, she
takes in reality about the reasons her mom deserted her sisters and the significance behind their
names. At last, she at last associates with her sisters and makes the passionate association with her
Chinese legacy.
With regards to symbolism and imagery, Amy Tan seasons her story with words like dark, dull,
and desolate which passes on to the peruser a feeling of how Jing mei felt about her life after her
mom s demise. Dim and boring suggest an absence of warmth and a fundamental pity that appear to
pervade the story. Jing mei has clashing sentiments about her late mother, her Chinese self, and her
relatives, hence adding to the general grayness of the story.
Adding to that fundamental bitterness is Jing mei s own feeling of uncertainty which can be set up
when she sees the general population on the bamboo platform. The laborers standing unharnessed on

Bear Hunting in New Jersey
Bear Hunting in New Jersey
The head of the New Jersey Environmental Protection Agency has resumed the black bear hunts
that had been paused for five years due to over hunting. In this time, the population of black bears
has risen once again to a safe level for hunting, and the republican controlled government has
allowed hunters to resume their hunting. Some wildlife activists see the hunts as unnecessary and
cruel, and wish to defend the bears. This belief is opposed by the hunting organizations that have
pointed to a long history of hunting, as well as the potential danger that black bears present, as
points that may hinder their cause. I am on the side of the hunters, as I think that the government s
job is to make sure both the bears are protected and the hunters are happy, and therefore a happy
medium must be reached. Too many black bears can be dangerous for the residents of New Jersey.
(Nuwer, 2011) They are migrating animals, and often enter into human neighborhoods in search of
food often found in people s waste bins. This has led the NRA and other hunting groups to petition
the state government on the issue of bear hunting for safety. Activist groups believe that taking
better precautions to secure garbage around the state of New Jersey would keep the bears away
from human areas, and that there are other ways to curb population growth besides hunting bears.
These wildlife activists also point out that bears are usually passive, and unless threatened, are less

INTRODUCTION
India is an agriculture based country since ancient time which is considered as the backbone of
our economy and the agrarian sector contributes substantially to the GDP of India. Around seventy
per cent of the Indian population and more than fifty per cent of the total work force still depends
on agriculture and allied areas for live hood, agriculture meets the basic needs of India s growing
population. Today, agriculture has achieved commercial importance and changed from subsistence
farming to commercial farming, import oriented to export oriented sector, supply driven
technology to demand driven technology etc. New inputs and new technologies are hitting market
every day. In the developed countries, agribusiness is defined as the total output arising from farm
production and product processing at both pre and post farm gate levels. In developing countries
like India, agribusiness is a generic term that refers to the various businesses involved in food
production, including farming and contract farming, seed supply, agrichemicals, farm machinery,
wholesale and distribution, processing, marketing, and retail sales. Agribusiness is widely used
simply as a convenient portmanteau of agriculture and business, referring to the range of activities
and disciplines encompassed by modern food production. Hence agribusiness can be defined as

Causes And Conpects Of Child Labour In The Caribbean
Child labour in the Caribbean
Children have an important place in our society. Investing financial resources is crucial for ensuring
children can reach their potential.
Childhood is a unique stage in our development. The quality of food, water, affection and education
that children receive can impact on their subsequent lives and their potential to become engaged
and productive citizens. This time presents a unique opportunity for governments and organisations
to level the playing field for children from poorer backgrounds through investments.
Many businesses across the Caribbean recognise this and create opportunities to benefit millions of
children across the region. Most recently, The Sandals Foundation, the non profit arm of Sandals
Resorts International, announced a new collaboration with School Specialty, Inc. for the Pack for a
Purpose program. This partnership will further assist travellers to Sandals Resorts and Beaches
Resorts, who wish to bring along much needed supplies for local schools across the Caribbean
supported by the company. The partnership comes at a crucial time following the effects Hurricane
Matthew which has caused many problems regionally.
Unfortunately, childhood can be robbed from children when they become involved in child labour.
Child labour is work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity and
that is is harmful to their development.
The ILO has defined child labour as a form of abuse and

Evaluation Of The Psychiatric Emergency Room
Anna s stay
The average stay in my unit, the psychiatric emergency room, is typically anywhere from four
hours to twenty four hours. One patient recently broke the record with her stay being close to
two weeks. This was a major concern for our unit as placement for her was difficult to find and
staff had never dealt with a stay this long in the past. This particular patient s story was heart
breaking. The patient (I will call her Anna) was a foster child who had been bounced around
from home to home. Her most recent foster family was an elderly couple who was well to do and
took care of the patient in their 1.2 million dollar home. Unfortunately, this child had some major
behavioral issues and oppositional defiant disorder as a result of her difficult upbringing.
Therefore, her foster family finally had enough and dropped the child off to our unit. She was a
very challenging patient and her patience was being tested as a result of her long stay as well as the
nursing staff s patience. A typical day working with this patient usually included the patient ending
up in restraints. Restraints were a daily occurrence for her. She spent the majority of her stay in
the secure core. The secure core is an area in the psychiatric emergency room that includes three
rooms and a small nursing station. The secure core is reserved for patients that pose a risk for
themselves or for patients that are psychotic and have lost touch with reality. The

Sherman s March To The Sea Analysis
Sherman s March to the sea likewise called the Savannah Crusade was embraced by General
William Tecumseh Sherman between November 12, 1864, and December 22, 1864. Sherman s
march to the sea was 285 miles in length extending from Atlanta to the Confederate beachfront town
of Savannah. Sherman left a way of devastation afterward While destroying the framework,
ventures, yields, and property in Georgia.Abraham Lincolnwas the sixteenth American President
who served in office from Walk 4, 1861, to April 15, 1865. One of the key occasions amid his
administration was Sherman s march to the seaamid the Common War..After General William T.
Sherman s March to the Sea, he propelled his huge armed force through the Carolinas. Various
ridiculous fights and encounters were battled as his armed force progressed and moved toward the
North Carolina capital of Raleigh. Not long after that meeting Wilson and his rangers fighters
joined Gen. George H. Thomas troops in devastating Hood s armed force. This letter, composed on
January 21, a month after the fall of Savannah on December 21, 1864, demonstrates both Sherman
and Wilson prepared to start the second period of their arrangement: Sherman would walk through
the Carolinas and Wilson would take Alabama. The bright Broad Sherman utilizes commonly
reckless dialect to depict how he thumped

Harvey Milk s Fight For Gay Rights
May 22nd, 1930 in Woodmere, New York a legend was born. This legend is also famously
known as Harvey Milk, a man who would soon turn into one of the greatest LGBT activists in
history. Harvey Milk, when he was a teenager in high school, knew he was gay but kept it to
himself all the way through the Korean War. In the Korean War, Milk was discharged in 1955
and moved back to New York City where he took on many jobs, from being a teacher to being a
Wall, Street investment banker. Milk is mostly well known for being one of the first openly gay
political advisors. He helped the LGBTcommunity get off the ground and go into full throttle,
claiming their places amongst political advisors. Harvey Milk has helped so many people feel
comfortable enough to come out of the closet. Harvey Milk, who was once afraid to come out and
be openly gay, helped others gain their basic human rights and their basic human privileges.
It takes no compromising to give people their rights. It takes no money to respect the individual. It
takes no survey to remove repressions. In the year 2017, we are lucky enough to have acceptance for

BackTrack is another bloodstain pattern analysis automation software program that aids in crime
scene reconstruction. A crime scene where bloodstains only from downward moving drops are
available can be analyzed by this program. Spatter evidence can be digitally and graphically
analyzed using this program by using what is known as visual strings . By entering the width,
length, direction, and position of each blooddroplet into the computer, the software calculates an
angle of path for each droplet then projects a flight path backward from each. The position of the
wound can be determined by analyzing where two or more of the projections intersect. Directional

Beaver Fur Trade
Envisioning today s world without the events of the seventeenth century is a genuine awakening.
From the conquests of the Americas by the Europeans to traditional isolationist views in Asia, one
could sufficiently argue this period in history as being the catalyst that ushered in the
interdependent society enjoyed by those who presently inhabit the earth. Furthermore, the
integration of people and cultures led to numerous indispensable discoveries of goods in foreign
lands. The global market exploded as trade became prominent, and people s definition of amenity
changed to that which meant they needed it because they wanted it. Slaves, blue and white china,
silver, and spices are only a few examples of what was available on the global market... Show more

This dish represents much more in the bigger scheme of the world than one might imagine. There
had been bitter conflict in the years prior to the rise in popularity of fine china in Europe between
the Dutch and Spanish. This fact is exemplified in the line, . . . Spain was the [Dutch] arch enemy:
Spain was the state that had occupied the Low Countries in the sixteenth century and had used
spectacular violence to suppress the Dutch independence movement (Brook 64). Being Portugal
was in alliance with the Spanish made their vessels fair game to be apprehended at sea by the
Dutch. This occurred with the Dutch occupying the two Portuguese ships; San Iago and Santa
Catarina. Thus, it was by domination that the inaugural shipments of fine china made its way to
the Dutch country. Explaining the arrival of the acquired Portuguese goods in Amsterdam,
Brooks writes, Onto the docks of that city emerged the first great trove of china to reach
Holland, and buyers from all over Europe fought for a piece (Brooks 63). While some goods
were traded or confiscated to appease the masses personal wants, other exchanges taking place in
the time period of Vermeer was solely for survival. This introduces the need for more than trade to
survive. The need for a recognized world currency was at

Richard Of Richard As A Machiavellian Character
Richard of Gloucester is perhaps the epitome of a Machiavellian character. According to the
lectures, a Machiavellian leader is one that supports deceit, killing, and genocide in order to defeat
enemies. Does this not scream Richard? On many accounts throughout the play, Richard displays a
blatant disregard for moralityas a ruler in addition to intense manipulations of the people
surrounding him. I think one of the most significant examples of Richard s Machiavellian
tendencies is his response immediately following the beheading of Hastings and the self aware
ironies that accompany this situation.
This passage characterizes how Machiavellian Richard s character is and his awareness of the
nature of his character. Hastings head is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare paints yet another layer of irony in this quote because Richard did not actually
confide in Hastings but he is, however, confiding in his audience as he mourns over Hastings
treachery. Richard continues with terms and phrases like apparent open guilt and laid from all
attainture of suspect further harping on the fact that Hastings had them all fooled and how
outrageous it was, which again assists in Shakespeare s development of the Machiavellian leader
that Richard is. Perhaps the most ironic thing of the whole ordeal is that Richard is not only
completely aware of what he s doing but he finds great pleasure in it. This awareness contributes
even more so to his Machiavellian nature because every immoral and twisted act he carries out is
completely intentional so his desires can be met. He knows he s bringing Hastings crimes to the
forefront and yet Richard is the one committing these acts.
This passage parallels another that takes place earlier in the play when we see Richard s
condemnation of Hastings as a traitor at the Council session. This passage is a parallel because it
exemplifies just how easy it is for Richard to adapt to his situation in order to manipulate those
around him like a true Machiavellian leader. He flips between two different attitudes as new
information is provided once he realizes that a different approach is necessary in order to get what
he wants.

However, when we put aside emotions from facts there are clear reasons to support the cons sided of same sex marriage. Lets try for a moment to do something that most of us rarely do. Allow me to persay you to consider the other accuracy of the other side when it come to same sex marriage. That is can you for a few minutes go against what you believe? Male and female couples get less taxes to be able to have they money to stabilize the family. Same sex couples can t reproduce so they have more taxes due to the lack of not needing as much money and and not being able to help increase the population. Medical insurance premiums will rise to offset offset the high cost associated with same sex behavior. The male and female couples have less bills and expenses. However, same sex couples deal with more medical issues. Such as, colon cancer, fertility treatment and ect. Same sex couples have to give up many benefits male and female couples get help with. I don t know, I guess I have been driven by my imagination. There is a considerable debate about the precise meaning of nonviolence. Some people believe that nonviolence is a philosophy and strategy for social change that rejects the use of violence. In other words, nonviolence is a method for resolving a conflict without the use of physical power nor enmity towards opponents. Instead, it emphasizes you to look beyond ... Day by day humans tend to be inhuman; selfishness, cruelty, hatred, jealousy and materialism have ripped off the warmth from our lives making it cold and unsafe. A man may allow himself a wide latitude in the matter of diet and yet may be a personifier of ahimsa and compel our homage, but a man who is always over scrupulous in diet is an utter stranger to ahimsa and pitiful wretch, if he is a slave to selfishness and passions and is hard of heart. (Gandhi, The Gospel of Non Violence) Gandhi expresses the problem of selfishness and greed among humans, thus turning themselves into slaves for power, wealth and fame. Allah the all mighty talks about this very same point in his holy Quran by saying We have certainly created man in the best of stature (At tin 95:4) and he also says Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (Al insan 76:3), although the literal meaning of these scriptures may seem different, but the true meaning needs explanation, and those two scriptures meant that Allah all mighty, have created human beings free; not obliged by any person or anything. But humans blinded by their greediness, became slaves for materialistic assets forgoing morality, knowledge and wisdom. And to defeat all this, we need to practice nonviolence as a way of living, because it will help us to retain the forgone moral possessions which are the key ingredients for a peaceful, truthful, ... Conservationists include those who use the land for recreational use. They are there to make money and use the animals as properties and ways to make money. Another comparison brought up by Leopold is between the duck hunter and the operatic singer. They are both used as a form of entertainment and thus, self pleasure. Some produce is simply too ugly for customers to want to consume, for example like a deformed bell pepper, a bent cucumber, a freckled banana. Some produce is gently bruised like an apple that was pressed a little too hard or a tomato that was bruised from customers testing it for juiciness. So much produce that has little to nothing wrong with it is simply thrown away every day at local grocery stores like Albertsons. The answer to this question is not a new farming technique or a new genetically modified plant that grow at the speed of light. The answer is simply a change in our lifestyle and to stop wasting so much food. My mother and father every weekend go out and buy a weeks worth of groceries and a lot of times they buy too much of a food that we already have or they but avocados that will go bad by the time we need to use them. This creates so much unnecessary waste and we are all guilty of it. I once met a woman who lived in France and she told me about how every day after work she bought the groceries she needed for that night and the two benefits to this were that her food was always fresh and she never threw out food. To be honest I had never thought of only buying what you needed for that night it always made sense to me to buy everything at once and get it over with and not have to worry about buy groceries until next weekend. Little did I realize that this is the mindset that causes so much waste because we are simply unaware of the problems that we are creating. Stalinist Gulag Camps And Violations To Human Rights Stalinist Gulag Camps and Violations to Human Rights There are many types of different labor camps that were meant to confine a group of people, but one of the most significant were Stalinist Gulags, leading to the disappearances of millions of people. The Stalinist Gulags are in violation of many articles, but a few are Articles 4, 5, 9, and 10. Article 4 is stated that no one shall be held in slavery, which in Gulags they are doing forced and unpaid labor. Article 5 states that no one should be subjected to cruel, and degrading treatment or punishment, which there was quite a bit of that happening in gulags. Article 9 says that no one should be subjected to arbitrary arrest (random arrest), detention or exile, people would just be randomly put in the camps if they were thought to be rebels, without a hearing that is. And the last Article, Article 10, states that everyone should have a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, but people would commonly just disappear and no one would know where they went, But really they were taken to Gulags to work. Stalinist Gulags violated the articles of Declaration of Human Rights because of how prisoners were treated and also how they were incarcerated in camps. There are those who believe that guns have no role in the hands of private citizens. Whereas there are those who believe that guns are the very foundation that protects our rights and liberties expressed in the Constitution. The debate is over whether or not there should be stricter laws preventing people to own guns. Though gun control and gun rights advocates share similar views on background checks and requirements, each have different views on the safety of guns and the Second Amendment meaning. Safety: CONTRAST Both sides of gun control advocates believe that the safety of American citizens is the most important thing within the argument of the ban of guns, but they both have different views on how it should be handled. No Guns: Some people believe that the United States is safer when citizens are not allowed access to guns. The amount of organized crime would go down because all of their power is derived from their use of firearms and that is a significant amount of their profit. They have always had the right to do whatever they wanted. Women, on the other hand, have not. They haven t always been allowed to vote. 1920 marked a significant landmark in American history. Women in all parts of the country voted in a political election for the first time. This may not sound like that big of a deal, but to the women of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the 1800s, women were not allowed to have a say in what was perceived to be a man s world. They were expected to be mothers and housewives. Nothing more, nothing less. Women tried to get legislation to pass a reform, but they refused to listen. Because of this, they felt they needed to gain the right to vote. Seneca Falls, NY in 1848 marked the start of the women s suffragemovement. The movement, being led by many influential women, such as Susan B. Anthonyand Elizabeth Cady Stanton, was said to be one of the largest political movement of the 20th century. According to the National Women s History Museum, the movement was the ...single largest enfranchisement and extension of democratic rights in our nation s history ( Rights for Women: The Suffrage ). Hess plays an intriguing card in her article, if this has been a problem even before women started binge drinking, then, why has the issue grown instead of diminishing, I also wonder though about the difference in male and female drinking. • 17. Impact Of Digital Technology On Children Lunar Singsomphone English 105 014 Fall 2017 The Impact of Digital Technology on Today s Children In a world dominated by technology, it is appropriate for adults to have concerns about the impact it is having on children. While most of this concern does stem from the experiences of their own childhood when there was less technology, more play time outside, and life was just simply much easier, the fact of the matter is that the children today and the future generations to come are going to grow up in a technological realm. Today, children as young as four years old, are regularly using digital technology on multiple different platforms such as the Internet, mobile devices, and gaming consoles. A 2013 Nielsen Connected Devices report found that in households that have a tablet and/or computer and with children under 12 years of age, 70% of the children used the tablet; 70% of those children used it for entertainment purposes, and 57% used the tablet for educational purposes. The report, of course, raises the obvious question of rather or not early exposure of digital technology can have negative effects on child development especially regarding their brains. In truth, there is no easy answer because like most things in life, there are both good and bad attributes to it and the exact same thing can be applied in this situation. For instance, while technology can be used for positive educational purposes, there are also serious psychological concerns. The digital technology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chairman of today s occasion, All academia present, Distinguished old boys, Ladies and gentlemen. 1 Today is indeed a remarkable day. I therefore count it as a great honour to be among you to share some wisdom together. I thank the executive of the club for putting up this kind of forum. This is highly commendable and I salute your outstanding leadership! I also greet my audience with great humility, for while some are on their bed sleeping off destiny, you have rather chose to search for knowledge. It takes few men to rule the world, and the few I believe, constitutes this audience. 2 The topic before me simply states; The Role of Discipline in Destiny Fulfillment. It is such a very interesting subject matter. Whosoever may have thought of it has done quite a very good job. Many people dream about fulfillment, but only few see it, for while they are still on the road to destiny, many young girls become young mothers and young boys take to drug and other dangerous habits. And as we together dissect the topic, I beseech you all to demonstrate the first discipline, by listening with open minds. 3 Before I begin to analyse all my analytical analysis, we may need to define some terms and terminologies for us to have a proper comprehension. • 19. My First Day Of College College Freshmen My first day of college is one of the most important experiences of my life. The semester began on August 28, 2017. In that morning, I had plenty of time compared to high school. I overslept because I knew college starts only at 10 a.m. I had an alarm set for 9 a.m. Once I woke, I took a shower and got ready. HACC is about minimum 8 minutes away from my house. By 9:40 a.m., I was on my way to the Harrisburg Area Community College. I was full of confidence that I will reach the campus on time, but the opposite happened. It was my life goal to go to college, however, there came the complication because I was unaware of the incomprehension and unfamiliarity of being freshmen in college. As a former new student, I got a little lost before I arrived at my math class. Once I reached the HACC parking lot, I wasted more than 10 minutes going around the parking lot looking for an empty spot. While I was driving around, I felt very frustrating. Besides, I was running late to class. Unfortunately, I did not consider a full parking lot. Suddenly I remembered, when I came to college orientation I parked my car across a small bridge where a new parking lot was under construction. I drove there and found out they finished constructing the new parking lot. There were a lot of empty parking spots. I parked my car and quickly walked toward Whitaker Hall rushing to find my math class. I had a map of the campus, which listed all names and locations of specific buildings. In ... • 20. John Michael Malins V Solicitors Regulation Authority Case... Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835 (Admin) 2017 WL 01339062 Summary: The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service to his client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In 2012, the law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and came into force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date would no longer be entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such costs if a notice in form N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the appellant thought that he had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side affirmed during mediation, in January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was informed by his assistant that he failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a letter and a form N251 with a later date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently relied on it during the settlement. In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported it to the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to the SRA as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form. They also alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with acting without integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction and sentence. Legal issue: The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and integrity was. Critical analysis: The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse of honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The opinions of the people on both sides of the issue are fueled with emotion and extreme. The problem with this is that A staggering one in three European citizens agrees with the statement that ordinary tomatoes don t have genes but genetically modified ones do (Gibney 15). This lack of information could be a cause of the resistance. People who do not understand GMOs thus cling to whatever they have heard to support their beliefs. It is clearly evident that with insecticide use, GMOs have a potential to save many lives if used in the correct way. Scientists are very concerned however because as Piette mentions, insects are becoming more resistant to the insecticides being used, as a result of 24 times the recommended amount is being used in some cases (96). Scientists are concerned because if this cycle of overusing pesticides continues, a new solution will need to be found as insects will become completely resistant to the pesticides. Currently, there are GMO products that are contributing to this potentially damaging cycle of pesticide use. Resnik states that Roundup crops are those that are resistant to Roundup. As a result of this, farmers can use more Roundup, knowing that their plants won t die but the weeds around them will. This could result in negative effects on nearby plants and possibly the environment (111 112). Not only is this seen in Roundup crops, it is also seen in other types of genetically modified crops. For example, one human service agency may provide speech and occupational therapy, where as their community link specializes in integration behavioral therapy, which their client needs. What then happens is a quality referral to that agency. These two organizations were able to work together, provide more services, all for the greater good of the client s needs. How it works is that an online user can search for an organization under the search tool. In 2012 Ala Wahib posed for what he thought would be an ordinary picture however the image became extraordinary due to its inclusion in an article titled An officer and a Muslim Zionist . It is important that at first glance it is not clear that the officer is a Muslim because it counters a stereotype that all Muslims look alike or that Muslims are at war with Jews. In the article Wahib is asked about how he feels about being the highest ranking Muslim officer in the Israeli army and a Zionist. The illustration of a Muslim soldier in the IDF is a great example of how images can have varying interpretations based on ones perspective. There is a problem in the modern world with the way we look and understand images having to do with Islam. Efforts taken by the media to share images which creates a positive perspective on Islam, are rare. Instead images that cause the public to connect Muslims to terror and radicalism are common because the media utilizes punctum s such as, an image of a young victim of a terror attack, to tap into ones emotions, gaining the public s attention. the reason why the media cares about increasing their audience is because the world revolves around money and unfortunately the world has become so used to opening up the newspaper in the morning and seeing negative images, that positive images don t appeal to media moguls. Courbet s Burial At Ornans Andean-Gleaners A Formal Analysis of Gustave Courbet s Burial at Ornans and Jean François Millet s Gleaners The realism era came about during the time of the Romantics, the time where imagination and ideology painted the artists canvas. To be a realist meant that an artist would paint what he actually saw and not an idea of something. For instance, if an artist were to paint a depiction of war, then all the gruesome details would probably be considered in the piece of art. The artist that essentially paved the way out of Romanticism and into the era of Realism was Gustave Courbet considered by some to be the first realist. In the essay I will explore how the plotters were punished and why they were punished so severely. Before you can explore the punishments, you first have to know the story. The Gunpowder Plot started on May 20th 1604; however, the reasons behind the plot started many years prior to that. In fact, the entire reason behind the plot dated back to Henry VIII, when religious turmoil broke out. You could say, all hell broke loose. It all started when Henry made his break from Rome to allow him to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon. This made England a Protestant country which many didn t like, or rather, hated. This turmoil continued for many years, as the next king, Edward, kept Protestantism whilst Mary, the following monarch, (also known as Bloody Mary) changed the national religion back to Catholicism and took her religion to further extremes by burning Protestants. Upon Mary s death Elizabeth I took the reigns and, yet again, switched the religion. She also persecuted those who didn t follow the same religion as her, as she made it illegal to be a Catholic and illegal to go to a non Protestant Church. James VI of Scotland came to the throne next and he, despite thoughts that he might have been kinder to Catholics, kept the aforementioned Recuncansy Laws. The country was a mess. Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in 1950s the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of glitazone or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14). Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor γ (PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The PPAR γ controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Were the Founding Fathers Democratic Reformers Essay Andy TranMr.Banks10/6/2014 Were the Founding Fathers Democratic Reformers? After reading both view points of John P. Roche and Howard Zinn, I felt like there were more things to back up the arguments made by Zinn, which is one of the reasons why I think that the founding fathers were not in fact democratic reformers. The founding fathers were wealthy statesmen who worked for the best of their interests to preserve their wealth. Howard Zinn s writing discusses the American Revolution, putting military actions in social and cultural context. On one hand, forming a militia quickly was possible because so many colonists were armed. On the other hand, the new nation soon started forcing sailors to join the war, which had been one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, many of the founding fathers were wealthy, came from good families and were well educated. Howard Zinn states that the founding fathers based the Constitution off of their own personal experiences without considering the past experiences of the average citizen. That does not mean that they were completely selfish and based the whole Constitution around them, it just means that many of their economic interests were reflected in the Constitution itself. He goes on about how economic interests were seen in the clauses of the Constitution and the founding fathers had a direct economic interest in forming a strong central government. According to Zinn, the founding fathers thought factions came from inequalities in wealth. Further into the reading he said that the Constitution was meerly the work of certain groups trying to maintain their privilages while giving enough rights and reason to the people to get a majority to support them. I think that Zinn s arguments were backed up very well with information or logistic examples. I think that the founding fathers were democratic reformers to a certain extent but in the Constitution, minorities such as slaves, indentured servants, women and men without property were not really mentioned which kind of shows that the Constitution was aimed for more of the elite class, usually all who had plenty of wealth and heald a good social status. This text speaks to the fact that other groups could be based on the idea of racism, oppression or discrimination (Earlet, 2000). This means that the facilitator must be willing to bracket (Seligman Reichenberg, 2014) his own values and be willing to understand the position of the group members. Moreover, due to the nature of the therapy being in a form of a group, the facilitator is required to develop, alongside the members, group norms and boundaries (Schachter, n.d.). The story is around an American conceived Chinese lady, Jing mei, who goes to Chinato meet her twin stepsisters that her mom was compelled to relinquish numerous prior years. Since her mom had passed away just a couple of months prior, the meeting is full of vulnerability and bitterness. Jing mei battles with self character issues and what it truly intends to be Chinese. En route, she takes in reality about the reasons her mom deserted her sisters and the significance behind their names. At last, she at last associates with her sisters and makes the passionate association with her Chinese legacy. With regards to symbolism and imagery, Amy Tan seasons her story with words like dark, dull, and desolate which passes on to the peruser a feeling of how Jing mei felt about her life after her mom s demise. Dim and boring suggest an absence of warmth and a fundamental pity that appear to pervade the story. Jing mei has clashing sentiments about her late mother, her Chinese self, and her relatives, hence adding to the general grayness of the story. Adding to that fundamental bitterness is Jing mei s own feeling of uncertainty which can be set up when she sees the general population on the bamboo platform. Bear Hunting in New Jersey Bear Hunting in New Jersey The head of the New Jersey Environmental Protection Agency has resumed the black bear hunts that had been paused for five years due to over hunting. In this time, the population of black bears has risen once again to a safe level for hunting, and the republican controlled government has allowed hunters to resume their hunting. Some wildlife activists see the hunts as unnecessary and cruel, and wish to defend the bears. This belief is opposed by the hunting organizations that have pointed to a long history of hunting, as well as the potential danger that black bears present, as points that may hinder their cause. I am on the side of the hunters, as I think that the government s job is to make sure both the bears are protected and the hunters are happy, and therefore a happy medium must be reached. Too many black bears can be dangerous for the residents of New Jersey. (Nuwer, 2011) They are migrating animals, and often enter into human neighborhoods in search of food often found in people s waste bins. This has led the NRA and other hunting groups to petition the state government on the issue of bear hunting for safety. Activist groups believe that taking better precautions to secure garbage around the state of New Jersey would keep the bears away from human areas, and that there are other ways to curb population growth besides hunting bears. The quality of food, water, affection and education that children receive can impact on their subsequent lives and their potential to become engaged and productive citizens. One patient recently broke the record with her stay being close to two weeks. This was a major concern for our unit as placement for her was difficult to find and staff had never dealt with a stay this long in the past. This particular patient s story was heart breaking. The patient (I will call her Anna) was a foster child who had been bounced around from home to home. Her most recent foster family was an elderly couple who was well to do and took care of the patient in their 1.2 million dollar home. Unfortunately, this child had some major behavioral issues and oppositional defiant disorder as a result of her difficult upbringing. Therefore, her foster family finally had enough and dropped the child off to our unit. She was a very challenging patient and her patience was being tested as a result of her long stay as well as the nursing staff s patience. A typical day working with this patient usually included the patient ending up in restraints. Restraints were a daily occurrence for her. She spent the majority of her stay in the secure core. According to the lectures, a Machiavellian leader is one that supports deceit, killing, and genocide in order to defeat enemies. Does this not scream Richard? On many accounts throughout the play, Richard displays a blatant disregard for moralityas a ruler in addition to intense manipulations of the people surrounding him. Shakespeare paints yet another layer of irony in this quote because Richard did not actually confide in Hastings but he is, however, confiding in his audience as he mourns over Hastings treachery. Richard continues with terms and phrases like apparent open guilt and laid from all attainture of suspect further harping on the fact that Hastings had them all fooled and how outrageous it was, which again assists in Shakespeare s development of the Machiavellian leader that Richard is. Perhaps the most ironic thing of the whole ordeal is that Richard is not only completely aware of what he s doing but he finds great pleasure in it. This awareness contributes even more so to his Machiavellian nature because every immoral and twisted act he carries out is completely intentional so his desires can be met. He knows he s bringing Hastings crimes to the forefront and yet Richard is the one committing these acts. This passage parallels another that takes place earlier in the play when we see Richard s condemnation of Hastings as a traitor at the Council session. This passage is a parallel because it exemplifies just how easy it is for Richard to adapt to his situation in order to manipulate those around him like a true Machiavellian leader.
