Impact Of Tourism On The Tourism Industry
1. Introduction
We now live in an age penetrated with revolution, cooperation and competition. With the dramatic
development of the global economy and industrialization, there has been a dramatic increase in travel
over the last few decades.
Ashworth, G. Page, S.J. argue as if it is a general truth that the tourism industry clearly needs the
varied, flexible and accessible tourism product that cities provide: it is by no means so clear that cities
need tourism (Urban Tourism Research: Recent progress and current paradoxes, Tourism
Management, Vol. 32, pp 1 15.). This essay, supports part of the quote, which claims that it is
necessary for contemporary cities to offer several types of tourism products for the tourism industry
which could be easily reached to the tourists. However, it is doubtful that the tourism modern day
cities do not need the tourism industry.
The structure of the paper is as follows.
This essay consists of two parts. In the first part, the reason why variable city tourism products are
needed would be explained. In the second part, which would be the main part of this paper, the fact
that some cities do need the tourism industry to boost their economy is illustrated by some examples.
These two parts are independent of each other.
2. The relationship between the tourism industry and tourism products
2.1 What is a tourism product?
Mason (2000) and Poerwanto (1998) have made the formulation of the components of tourism
product, that is:

Persuasive Essay On Legalize Medical Marijuana
Many medically ill patients experience agonizing pain everyday that they can not easily control with
regular pain medicine, so what s the next best thing? There have been many recent cases where
medical patients have used medical marijuana for therapeutic uses and found that it had slowed the
progression of their disease or helped cure it. Medical marijuana has started to become more popular
with medical communities and researchers. Medical marijuana can affect many things in a positive
way such as financial situations and social aspects, while having benefits on medical illnesses.
Medical marijuana that does not contain the THC drug should be legalized in the United States
because it would provide therapeutic benefits without making the user feel high. The District of
Columbia and approximately thirty states have laws that allow some sort of medical marijuana use.
Since there is about half of the 50 states that have legalized medical marijuana it would be tough for
patients to travel to another state if it is not legalized through the United States. The United States
needs to legalize medical marijuana so that patients who are traveling to hospitals throughout the
country, such as the Mayo Clinic, do not need to worry about restrictions with their marijuana. If a
person traveling to the Mayo Clinic where to get pulled over, they could suffer great fines, or even
face jail time, because Minnesota might not support legalized medical marijuana. Changing the laws
would allow

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Analysis
Mocking Slice of Work Life Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both award winning
television comedies. Both series were created by Michael Schur and Dan Goor. However, while Parks
and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both mockumentary styled television shows, they differ in
a variety of aspects. To begin, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine share similar character
dynamics but differ in job requirements. Similarly, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine
carry an optimistic outlook yet use different comedic devices. Despite both series having similar
settings the editing is strikingly different. In spite of Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine s

compare it to the one they have seen before. This process leads to disgruntled fans, whether the
content creators succeeded in creating a new piece that is unlike their past work or not. And because
old ideas and methods are recycled in every piece of work, it is easy for someone who is not very

The Plight Of The Afghan Women Analysis
Letter to the Editor
Dear Abdullah Quazi,
I am very impressed with the information presented in your article The Plight of the Afghan Women . I
was not aware that Afghan women were treated so badly as you mention in the text. Besides, I had no
idea they had so many restrictions and that men consider them inferior just because of their gender.
After reading your publication and doing some research I couldn t believe this type of things were
happening.
I can t conceive the idea that Afghan women did not have the right to work, leave their estate alone or
without a male accompaniment, receive medical attention from a male doctor, and be forced to cover
themselves from head to toe with a burqa, showing as less skin as possible. In my opinion ... Show

In this case the government should have more control over this and force the unscrupulous men to
amend women for what they have done to them.
I totally agree with the fact that Afghan women have now the right to vote, the right of education, the
right to work, the right to choose their own partners in marriage and that the government no longer
forces them to wear the all covering burqa. Despite many would agree that the political and cultural
position of Afghan women has improved substantially, I consider that there is still much more to do
before men and women have exactly the same rights.
Something that baffles me is why the percentages of illiterate women is still very high. Although they
have access to education, 87 % of Afghan women are still illiterate. The same things happen with
forced marriage. Around 70% 80% percent of women face forced marriages in Afghanistan This is
something totally

What The Hell Is Water By David Foster Wallace
What the hell is water? This is Water was originally given as a speech to college students before it was
published in essay form. Essayist, David Foster Wallace, in his essay This is Water , addresses the
importance of awareness and perceptiveness of others. He believes this and the proper education can
help you become well adjusted to the world around you. He adopts a humorous and important tone in
order to accomplish his rhetorical purpose.
Wallace establishes a humorous tone in the first section to convey his argument. There are these two
young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who
nods at them and says, Morning, boys, how s the water? And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and
then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, What the hell is water? (233) This
anecdote brings awareness to the fact the many people don t understand what is going on around them
and why Wallace believes it is important to be conscious of what is happening around you. This is not
a matter of virtue...and to see and interpret everything through this lens of self. (233) Wallace states
that it is hard to get into a state of awareness because humans have their hard wired default setting .
People need to get out of their own self centered habits and see things in a different point of view. By
using a humorous tone, Wallace can effectively get people on his side of the argument.
Wallace shifts to a more realistic example

Milk Fat Experiment
Title: What was the Effect of Temperature on Butter Yield?
Purpose:
The purpose was to determine if temperature has a direct effect on the formation of milk fat, and
whether or not it effected the yield.
Background Information:
Milk Fat, more commonly known as butter, is comprised of different fats, specifically triglycerides.
When using organic, unpasteurized milk, one will notice after sitting stagnant for a number of hours,
the milk will start to separate within itself, with clumps of fat collecting at the bottom. This is because
milk is an emulsion. An emulsion is a suspension two liquids within each other that would not
naturally mix. (Kitchn, 2008) Another example of an emulsion is water in oil. These liquids can be
physically mixed together, with a spoon or utensil, and they will appear mixed, but overtime they will
resume their separated state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This works through creating a weak chemical bond between the butter and water, thus keeping the
milk well homogenized. However, this chemical bond can easily be broken through agitation to the
solution, like shaking, or stirring.
When making butter, Heavy Cream is shaken or stirred until a solid precipitate is formed. The solid
precipitate is the butter, and the liquid is the butter milk. Through physical agitation, the chemical
bonds that the emulsion agent added to the mixture, has been broken, and the fat and water have
separated, which results in butter.
This separation occurs due to physical force is being exerted onto the phospholipid layer that
surrounds the triglycerides. Through the physical agitation, the phospholipid layer begins to break
apart, and it causes the triglycerides to bond together, which creates a solid mass of fat, which we refer
to as

Beheira Governorate, Egypt.
ABSTRACT
During 2013 2014 growing seasons, forty three isolates of Pestalotiopsis spp were recovered from
guava leaves and fruits showed scab symptoms from different regions in EL Beheira governorate. Five
Pestalotiopsis species were recognized according to the morphological characteristics of fungal colony
(Colony color, Size and number of acervulii) and conidia (Length, Width, and Color of median cells,
Length and the number of apical and basal appendages); they were P. psidii, P. microspora, P.
clavispora, P. neglecta and Pestalotiosis sp. All the isolates recovered were pathogenic to the cv.
Balady of guava fruits. However, P.psidii isolates were the most highly pathogenic followed by P.
neglecta, P. clavispora, P. microspora and Pestalotiopsis sp, respectively. RAPD PCR analysis using
five random oligonucleotide primers revealed DNA fingerprints and considerable variations were
revealed with primers tested. Bar marker showed a common band for all Pestalotiopsis isolates and
species at 500bp, while BAQ, 18 and A9B4 exhibited banding pattern similar for all isolates of the
same species which were different from that of the other species. Scab disease control of infected
fruits by chitosan as s natural product was tested. The in vitro 2.5% chitosan application significantly
inhibited the growth of Pestalotiopsis spp tested by 86.53% on agar plates.

Attachment Styles Influence Relational Patterns Between A...
Attachment styles influence relational patterns between a married couple and their children. These
attachment relational patterns known as anxious, avoidant, and secure base styles are a product of the
interactions experienced in early childhood with their caregivers. It affects people s
intercommunication with others all through their life span. Individuals attachment style involves a
systematic pattern of relational assumptions, emotions, and behavior that develop from the subjective
constructs definitive of attachment experiences throughout their lives. Negative relational patterns
increase the likelihood of marital violence in the home. When experiencing stress related life issues,
conflicts may arise due to substandard communication skills leading to physical violence,
aggressiveness, resulting in harsh spousal disputes. A positive upswing in marital and family harmony
occurs when healthy communication skills develop along with secure based attachment
characteristics, such as, humility, gratitude, and forgiveness of self and others. These characteristics
provide coping mechanisms that establish a positive self identity and healthy social interaction with
others. As the anxious and avoidant relational styles exercise these positive characteristics, in time,
they develop a positive view of self and others while learning to work through life stressors, which
benefit the marriage and family. Introduction Relationships between marital couples and children

Nazi Germany And The Soviet Union Under The Rule Of Adolf...
Totalitarianism is a governmental system where the country acknowledges no boundaries to its power
and where the country dominates all social means in an attempt to invade and control all perspectives
of private and public life. This is achieved through the country s use of technology, propaganda, and
horror. A totalitarian government tries to not only control all political and economic factors, but also
the values, attitudes, and ideas of its overall population, eradicating the existing society with a utopian
one. Many totalitarian methods, however, have distinguished ideological intentions. For example, the
states most generally characterized as totalitarian are the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin and Nazi
Germany under the rule of Adolf Hitler. To control the population and to expand the message of the
country, propaganda was an excellent weapon. The media is governed by the state and the free press
does not exist. Both dictators also do not allow public consultation, public opinion and disagreement is
flattened through a that regularly kills dissidents. Both dictators exploit the usage of forced labor
camps where many died in either concentration camps in Germany and Gulag camps in the Soviet
Union. An unprecedented number of people in both countries were murdered if they were thought to
be enemies of the state. Thesis: Both Stalin and Hitler committed some of the worst violations in

Descriptive Essay About Fashion
There were times when women were restricted to wear certain garments like a skirt that does not go
past the knee, pants, and anything men considered sexy. Through trials and tribulations women have
defied all odds with fashion. When I think of fashion I think of self expression, thanks to the women
before me. One woman who fully inspired my fashion sense, is Betsey Johnson. With her fun, unique,
and colorful fashion lines, she helped me to find my style. She is also a huge inspiration to me, as a
fashion designer. Betsey Johnson is a fashion designer, well known for her eccentric but ladylike
designs; Puffy skirts to make you feel like a beautiful ballerina, embellishments to make you sparkle
and shine when your seen, and eye catching accessories that make you want to buy her garments. Her
childhood interest of dance and costume laid the foundation for her creativity. Betsey attended Pratt
Institute and later graduated from Syracuse University. She did not in fact go to school for fashion
design, but her creative juices pulled her toward fashion. Upon finishing school Betsey landed an
internship with Mademoiselle publication. She won a contest at the magazine, thus triggering her
career; Fulltime fashion designer for Paraphernalia, made known a boutique called Betsey Bunky

amount of mishaps as well. She put out her own collection in 1978, that did exceptional well,

Eugenic Decision-Making
Eugenics is defined, in some way or the other, as the process of reshaping the human race by
determining the kinds of people who will be born. As such, there is much debate in the field of
eugenics, with authors, like Philip Kitcher, who support laissez faire or a minimalist approach of
eugenics in which eugenic decision making should be limited only to avoid neurological illnesses and
in which parental free choice is valued. Gregory Stock s essay, The Enhanced and Un Enhanced,
presents otherwise by supporting the position of maximalist eugenics, allowing individuals the full
extent in the selection of genes. On the other hand, the film, Gattaca, raises major ethical problems by
illustrating a dystopian society resulted by extensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, enlightened eugenics calls for the education on the basis of minimalist eugenics while
responsible eugenics would use reliable genetic tests in order to avoid neurological diseases and
prevent the previously mentioned dangers caused by laissez faire eugenics. Kitcher s view of utopian
eugenics envisions a society in which genetics allow people to make free and educated reproductive
choices and in which the education broadens an understanding of the likely quality of a modest life.
Contrary to Kitcher s minimalist model that constrains eugenic decisions only to avoid neurological
diseases, Gregory Stock s position in the debate defends maximalist eugenics in which individuals
have total free eugenic decision making, including enhancement, without any state coercion. He wants
readers to accept and adopt such a position by arguing that genetic engineering such as selecting and
alternating embryos is an inevitable future and human destiny (7, Stock, CC p.279). For example, if
redesigning humans became commonplace, Stock reasons that parents would give their children
endowments they desire but could not otherwise obtain and thus further expand life s possibilities to
the next generation (8, Stock, CC p.276). In this society, people s genes would become an embodiment
of their parents values and preferences. People would arguably want such endowments since they
would view modifications as beneficial in

While everyone wishes to live to advanced age, it is not always that old age is enjoyable. Living to see

also comes with a cost and arthritis is one of the big costs that the aged continue to pay. The disease

The Scythians Summary
The Evidence of the Scythians Much of what is known of the history of the Scythians comes from the
account of them by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, who visited their territory. Herodotus was a
great Greek researcher of the fifth century B.C.E, who wrote about the customs and way of living of
several civilizations he visited. In one of his investigations he found a very interesting group of nomad
tribes, who were called the Scythians. His findings were recorded in Herodotus Fourth Book of The

Horsemen and herdsmen roamed the steppes with their many herds of cattle and horsemen. Thus, it
could be also argued that the horse allowed the communication between people living at great
distances from one another. The Scythians not only were in contact with the civilizations of Greece,
Egypt, and the Near East, but also with many other tribes that lived in the Eurasia steppe. Although
their interaction with other civilizations is reflected in their art, the Scythians are distinguished from
the others through their so called animal style. This style is the representation of animal motifs

Effects Of Mongol Rule On China
In breaking down the causations and effects of the Mongols regarding their rule on China during 1200
1500, one can see these include the implementation of governing philosophies of elected officials that
shaped Chinese culture, the influence of tax farming systems on China s economy, and the influence
of trade on social hierarchies. An example of an impact by the Mongols on Chinese rule is the
negative influences of tax farming on Chinese economy. Another example of a causation of Mongol
rule on China is the of tax farming systems in order to improve revenue in the area.
China during Mongol domination, incorporated philosophy and organization into the government,
which helped it shape their cultural and political outlook. An example of an impact of Mongol rule on
China s government is their use of provinces to organize China s cities, specifically with Yunnan. The
Mongols used provinces to systemize the government and appointed governors to each district, where
that governor would take care of the taxes. The reason for this method of organization is that the
Mongols trusted foreigners more than the Chinese, so they appointed their tasks to foreigners such as
the governor of Yunnan. The governor of Yunnan didn t have any major positions, but he helped
develop the trade in his region and promoted Confucian belief which along with the provincial
organization shaped China. An example of a causation for the incorporation of Confucian belief in
government was due to the Mongols

John Winthrop Contributions
My paper will be on John Winthrop who I chose because of the impact he made on America as we
know it today and because of his Christian background and influence. I was initially interested in him
because he was one of the major players from Europe who caused this nation to be founded under
God, if you will, and is clearly an influential man in American history. Now that I have read more
about him I realize he played an even larger role than I imagined. John Winthrop left all that he knew
to go spread the gospel and create a city on a hill to shape a nation and despite all the hardships he
faced, he never abandoned his efforts or ideals and that is a man I would love to talk to and learn from.
John Winthrop is a significant figure in American history because he, along with a few others, laid the
foundation for America as we know it today and put in place many of the ideals and principles that we
still base our government and lives on in the present. Winthrop was with the group who were the first
to govern a colony from within the colony, helped introduce and influence the people to adopt a
government in which the people ruled and elected those making the laws and ruling over them,
introduced the idea of separation of Church and State, helped establish a program of public and private
education and a grammar school in Boston as early as 1635. Some people even call John Winthrop the
Father of New England and America s Forgotten Founding Father. If I could actually come face to
face with John Winthrop, one of the questions I would ask him is Why he would move to America to
start the Massachusetts Bay Colony when he was doing well where he lived in England and knew the
great risks of going? To this question, I believe that Winthrop s initial and main reason would be that it
was God s plan and purpose for him in order to spread the gospel into those parts of the world and
become an example, a city on a hill, for the rest of the world. I believe he would answer this way
because of the things he writes in a Model of Christian Charity and because he had come upon some
hardships in England around this time that he said he believed were God s way of preparing him to be
willing and open to

Haiti is currently in a predicament that most country s dream they never have to face. On January 12,
2010 disaster struck this already struggling nation.Death totals topped 200,000 and reliable industries

earthquake which ravaged Haiti in 2010, killing over 200,000 people and leaving 1.5 million
homeless, despite a massive international humanitarian and cooperation effort, the country remains the
poorest of the Western hemisphere, and is prey to political instability.
Who is starvation in Haiti affecting the most? One third of Haitian women and children are anemic. A
result of poverty, the average Haitian child s diet lacks many and most nutrients, including iron. The
iron level in Haiti is also low because of intestinal blood loss due to worms and parasites. The people
of Haiti face a multitude of problems, and struggle to sustain a full, healthy life. Luckily, organizations

Effects Of Alcohol Abuse On Children
Alcohol abuse and alcoholism can affect all aspects of a person s life. Even though it is legal for
anybody at least age twenty one and over, alcohol is commonly abused among adults. When people
think about alcohol abuse, they usually only focus on the one person who is drinking in excess, but
what if that person has a family or is a parent? How does alcoholism affect their children or loved
ones? The majority of people would suggest that binge drinking only mainly affects the one person
doing it, they do not realize that it affects their children and families as a whole. In general, children
and families are affected in a negative way when combated with the issue of a parent or very close
relative being an alcoholic. First, I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is staggering that child abuse happens more frequently when alcohol abuse is present. That can
create an even more toxic environment for the child, which could lead to many problems for him or
her in the immediate future. The Society for the Study of Addiction also states that children who
experience child abuse and neglect repetitively have been shown to experience poorer behavioral,
educational and mental health outcomes . That very hazardous environment is what children of
alcoholic parents are exposed to on a daily basis, breaking them down physically, socially, and
emotionally. Alcohol abuse with adults can have an even deeper effect on one s family and children
that might not be apparent at first. Debra Wood states that alcoholism with one adult can increase the
chance of the rest of his or her s family some day becoming an alcoholic. Wood also states that
genetics, social pressure, and problem behaviors learned from family or friends can lead to somebody
going down the path of alcohol abuse. Even though this seems like a fairly lopsided debate, there are
multiple factors that lead one to believe that getting over alcoholism can be a pretty easy fix.
Therefore meaning it would not be as much of a problem for the adults children and, or family. The
Brown University Digest of Addiction Theory Application states that heavy drinking in older adults
may signify ongoing alcohol problems . Knowing that the alcohol problems can lead to other more

The Failure Of Japanese Imperialism In China
Japanese imperialism was uniquely derived during the nineteenth century within the structure of the
informal empires of the West in East Asia. Due to Japanese political feudally and economically
backwards system, it was a victim to powerful Western Empires such as Russia, Britain and the United
States. They had imposed similar legal and commercial disabilities previously in China to serve their
imperialistic needs. Japan was officially integrated into the treaty port system by 1860, thus
establishing it s first step towards incorporation into the world economics. The international political
environment was crucial in structure Japanese imperialism particularly in two ways. Firstly, treaty
privileges in China became Japanese definition of success, hence structuring Japanese responses and
international aspirations. Secondly, it raised awareness for an unavoidable setting for action.
Historically, Japan would appease and seek satisfaction within the structure of western imperialism.
Thereafter, Japanese imperialism reformed internally in response to the demanding international
environment. After the fall of the Tokugawa government between 1867 1868, the new Meiji
government established a modernistic regime. The Meiji Empire created a western style constitution in
1889 intended to crown Japan s acquisition of western style sovereignty, whilst exalting the emperor
to divine status. Japanese leaders had been able to form an accepted trajectory with which to enter a

Description Of A Lab Day
Description of the experience
The purpose of this reflection is to describe what concurred in lab day two. The day began with
preconference; Ms. O described what we would be doing throughout the day, which was infection
control, safety, and vital signs (#C1, #C4, #C6, #C10).
With infection control, hand washing is the most important aspect. As nurses and healthcare
professionals, we will encounter numerous individuals. To ensure that we do not contaminate another
client and ourselves, it is vital for us to wash our hands (#C4, #C6).
With safety, we were taught that it was crucial to ensure that you are performing care for the person
we are suppose to by using patient identification. Patient wristbands, having the patient state their full
name, and date of birth are the most effective way. Secondarily, safety goes beyond the parameters of
just identifying the patient, we were informed about bed rails, bed position, and call lights (#C2, #C4).
The last part of the day involved assessing vital signs, including; temperature (oral, rectal, axillary,
and tympanic), assessing pulses, respiratory rates, blood pressure, pulse oximeter assessment, and
measuring height and weight. Nurses use vital signs as a starting point and they can learn a lot a
person and s/he ailments immediately from this information (#C2).

Walmart s Compliance Issues
Walmart Compliance Issues Introduction Walmart is now a trans national corporation. All such
corporations have major problems in the labor front. The reasons are various. Firstly Wal Mart s motto
is to give quality goods at very cheap prices. All its operations are therefore designed to that end.
Walmart has suppliers who offer competitive prices. Since the company has to serve various parts of
the globe, they have the policy of sticking to the most reasonable prices. Thus the awareness of cost,
customers, and need for investing in continuous improvement and the bifurcation of the various retail
units to small supplier stores as individual firms have made the company s functions seamless and cost
effective. However it cannot be sustained for long and the natural result is that the company looks out
for cheap labor and less cost of production and supply units. Thus it regards the labor at the overseas
units as lesser and tries to push costs down. Thus it can be seen that in controlling cost and being
conscious of costs the company has all along made the labor at the receiving end. (Christopherson;
Lillie, 2005) In a research on major multinational retail firms, like IKEA and Wal Mart, the fact is
noted that there is a new era of labor standards. The global labor concerns are coming to the fore and
the rights of labor all over the globe are being enforced by the nations, and secondly the multinationals
find it better to enforce their voluntary codes rather than through

Definition Of Love At First Sight
Have you ever seen some one for the first time and felt like they were the one? Did you know if they
were really the one ? Do you know what love is? Was it love at first sight? Some people may claim it
was love at first sight and some may claim it was not. There are many arguments against love at first
sight, which most do not believe in it. Love at first sight can be known to be an instantaneous
attraction to someone or something. That definition sounds a lot like lust, does it not? Lust is having a
very strong sexual desire for someone. Now, love at first sight is more instant than lust, but they both
have a similar definition. You cannot fall in love with some one by looks therefore love at first sight is
not real. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the essay, The loss of the Creature, a man by the name of Garcia Lopez found what is now known
as the Grand Canyon and thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world he has ever seen.
Nobody could ever understand how beautiful he thought it was. Relating back to Love at first sight,
this shows you can love the looks of something at first sight but cannot necessarily fall in love at first
sight. Not everyone has the views or opinions of looks. For example, a tourist had wanted to see the
Grand Canyon his whole life and when he finally got the chance to see it, he was very disappointed.
He expected the Grand Canyon to be what he saw in pictures and postcards. After he realized it wasn t
what he expected, he somewhat regretted going. This is what I believe love at first sight is. You do not
know what to really expect and once you learn more about the person, you are disappointment because
it is not what you expected. Having expectations are not always good, they can lead to

Communication Skills Importance
The Importance of Communication Skills Communication is vital in one s life. We communicate to
understand, to explore, to share feelings, thoughts, and ideas with our friends, families, and
colleagues. Communication allows us to share and exchange information and knowledge with one
another. Effective communication leads to a successful and a healthier relationship. Communication is
a two way process in which both the speaker and listener engage in the conversation and fully
understand what the meaning of the message is about. Both partners must actively engage, reflect,
paraphrase, confront, and listen when communicating. The knowledge I have accumulated throughout
this course includes how to be more empathetic, how to reflect, and how to listen actively. I was able
to gain knowledge in all three areas, but for the purpose of this paper, I will present a thorough
discussion of how I use my listening skills to effectively carry out a successful communication. If you
are not listening, you are not communicating. By practicing active listening, I can improve on my
communication skills. We listen to obtain information, to understand, and to learn ( Active Listening,
2008). Active listening improves mutual understanding. However, not many people use this skill in
their communication. Many times, people wait for the right moment to attack, to criticize, and may be
distracted by something else thus, leading to unsuccessful relationships. Research suggests that we

The field got its name from General John Forbes who fought in the French an Indian war. Forbes Field
was built in 1908 and cost over one million dollars. The way the field was created was entirely
different from any other ballpark in the United States. Steel and poured concrete were the only things
used to build Forbes Field. The ballpark was sold to the University of Pittsburgh in 1958 for three
million dollars. University of Pittsburgh agreed to let the Pittsburgh Pirates to play there for another
five years; however, the Pirates ended up playing their last season there in 1970. The building was not
demolished until 1971 and is now a part of University of Pittsburgh s campus.
Furthermore, Three Rivers Stadium was erected in 1970 on the old Exposition Park site. The stadium
was created as a football field and a baseball field. The field was supposed to be constructed in 1958,
but political disputes caused the construction to start ten years later. The construction took 2 years and
cost roughly fifty five million dollars. The stadium was demolished in February of 2000. In place of

say to save their own lives. These kids are aware to what they signed up for, but the grasp of reality to
why they are learning this expertise has not even began to set in yet. Everyday a man screams him self

Red Sky At Morning Summary
Red Sky at Morning is a book about a boy named Josh Arnold, who moves from his hometown,
Mobile, Alabama, to Corazon Sagrado, New Mexico. The story is set during World War II which
happens to be the reason for the families move. Josh goes through many things throughout the story
which makes him the man that he is at the end.
The first object I chose was a car. The car represents the families move from Alabama to New Mexico.
The family moves to New Mexico for safety during the war. Mr. Arnold leaves for the Navy soon after
their arrival in Corazon Sagrado. The move and the absence leave Mrs. Arnold lonely and depressed.
On the other hand, Josh grows from the move to Sagrado. He meets new friends and learns a lot of
important lessons.

The malt represents the new friendship between Steenie, Marcia, and Josh. The three friends often go
get malts together either for celebration or just for fun. They also go on different adventures with each
other and almost do everything together. Josh is lucky to have found such great friends in New
Mexico.
I chose a knife next because of the time when Tarzan stabbed Chango. Chango was a bully to a lot of
people, including Josh, and thought he was a real tough guy. When Tarzan stabs him it is like a wake
up call. He drops his tough guy act and even becomes a friend to Josh. Chango also becomes a
catholic, like his sister, after the stabbing.
Another item I chose was paint and a paint brush. These items represent Josh s new friend Romeo,
who is an artist. Romeo was a friend of Josh s parents and soon becomes a friend and teacher to Josh.
At the end of the story Josh finds out that Romeo even created his father out of a bolder in his
memory.
I chose a tree and cooking pans to represent Amadeo and Excilda. Even though they were servants for
the Arnold s they were also close family friends. Mrs. Arnold might not have been too fond of them
but Josh had a very close relationship with them. They were both teachers to Josh and helped in his

  • 2. Impact Of Tourism On The Tourism Industry 1. Introduction We now live in an age penetrated with revolution, cooperation and competition. With the dramatic development of the global economy and industrialization, there has been a dramatic increase in travel over the last few decades. Ashworth, G. Page, S.J. argue as if it is a general truth that the tourism industry clearly needs the varied, flexible and accessible tourism product that cities provide: it is by no means so clear that cities need tourism (Urban Tourism Research: Recent progress and current paradoxes, Tourism Management, Vol. 32, pp 1 15.). This essay, supports part of the quote, which claims that it is necessary for contemporary cities to offer several types of tourism products for the tourism industry which could be easily reached to the tourists. However, it is doubtful that the tourism modern day cities do not need the tourism industry. The structure of the paper is as follows. This essay consists of two parts. In the first part, the reason why variable city tourism products are needed would be explained. In the second part, which would be the main part of this paper, the fact that some cities do need the tourism industry to boost their economy is illustrated by some examples. These two parts are independent of each other. 2. The relationship between the tourism industry and tourism products 2.1 What is a tourism product? Mason (2000) and Poerwanto (1998) have made the formulation of the components of tourism product, that is: 1. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Legalize Medical Marijuana Many medically ill patients experience agonizing pain everyday that they can not easily control with regular pain medicine, so what s the next best thing? There have been many recent cases where medical patients have used medical marijuana for therapeutic uses and found that it had slowed the progression of their disease or helped cure it. Medical marijuana has started to become more popular with medical communities and researchers. Medical marijuana can affect many things in a positive way such as financial situations and social aspects, while having benefits on medical illnesses. Medical marijuana that does not contain the THC drug should be legalized in the United States because it would provide therapeutic benefits without making the user feel high. The District of Columbia and approximately thirty states have laws that allow some sort of medical marijuana use. Since there is about half of the 50 states that have legalized medical marijuana it would be tough for patients to travel to another state if it is not legalized through the United States. The United States needs to legalize medical marijuana so that patients who are traveling to hospitals throughout the country, such as the Mayo Clinic, do not need to worry about restrictions with their marijuana. If a person traveling to the Mayo Clinic where to get pulled over, they could suffer great fines, or even face jail time, because Minnesota might not support legalized medical marijuana. Changing the laws would allow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine Analysis Mocking Slice of Work Life Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both award winning television comedies. Both series were created by Michael Schur and Dan Goor. However, while Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both mockumentary styled television shows, they differ in a variety of aspects. To begin, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine share similar character dynamics but differ in job requirements. Similarly, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine carry an optimistic outlook yet use different comedic devices. Despite both series having similar settings the editing is strikingly different. In spite of Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine s common co creators, the shows are not exactly the same. The character dynamics in both these series are similar; however, the characters have different job requirements. For example, Captain Holt and Rosa have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As explained in the paragraphs above, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine differ. The characters in Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine occupy different jobs, and the level of danger in their job are different. Furthermore, their comedic devices are also very different from one another. Finally, their editing is almost nothing alike. Whenever a popular content creator or creators in this case move onto a new piece of content, it is common for people to see that new content and compare it to the one they have seen before. This process leads to disgruntled fans, whether the content creators succeeded in creating a new piece that is unlike their past work or not. And because old ideas and methods are recycled in every piece of work, it is easy for someone who is not very analytical when viewing television to assume after a few episodes that Brooklyn Nine Nine is the same show with different actors and jobs. • 5. The Plight Of The Afghan Women Analysis Letter to the Editor Dear Abdullah Quazi, I am very impressed with the information presented in your article The Plight of the Afghan Women . I was not aware that Afghan women were treated so badly as you mention in the text. Besides, I had no idea they had so many restrictions and that men consider them inferior just because of their gender. After reading your publication and doing some research I couldn t believe this type of things were happening. I can t conceive the idea that Afghan women did not have the right to work, leave their estate alone or without a male accompaniment, receive medical attention from a male doctor, and be forced to cover themselves from head to toe with a burqa, showing as less skin as possible. In my opinion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case the government should have more control over this and force the unscrupulous men to amend women for what they have done to them. I totally agree with the fact that Afghan women have now the right to vote, the right of education, the right to work, the right to choose their own partners in marriage and that the government no longer forces them to wear the all covering burqa. Despite many would agree that the political and cultural position of Afghan women has improved substantially, I consider that there is still much more to do before men and women have exactly the same rights. Something that baffles me is why the percentages of illiterate women is still very high. Although they have access to education, 87 % of Afghan women are still illiterate. The same things happen with forced marriage. Around 70% 80% percent of women face forced marriages in Afghanistan This is something totally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. What The Hell Is Water By David Foster Wallace What the hell is water? This is Water was originally given as a speech to college students before it was published in essay form. Essayist, David Foster Wallace, in his essay This is Water , addresses the importance of awareness and perceptiveness of others. He believes this and the proper education can help you become well adjusted to the world around you. He adopts a humorous and important tone in order to accomplish his rhetorical purpose. Wallace establishes a humorous tone in the first section to convey his argument. There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, Morning, boys, how s the water? And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, What the hell is water? (233) This anecdote brings awareness to the fact the many people don t understand what is going on around them and why Wallace believes it is important to be conscious of what is happening around you. This is not a matter of virtue...and to see and interpret everything through this lens of self. (233) Wallace states that it is hard to get into a state of awareness because humans have their hard wired default setting . People need to get out of their own self centered habits and see things in a different point of view. By using a humorous tone, Wallace can effectively get people on his side of the argument. Wallace shifts to a more realistic example ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Milk Fat Experiment Title: What was the Effect of Temperature on Butter Yield? Purpose: The purpose was to determine if temperature has a direct effect on the formation of milk fat, and whether or not it effected the yield. Background Information: Milk Fat, more commonly known as butter, is comprised of different fats, specifically triglycerides. When using organic, unpasteurized milk, one will notice after sitting stagnant for a number of hours, the milk will start to separate within itself, with clumps of fat collecting at the bottom. This is because milk is an emulsion. An emulsion is a suspension two liquids within each other that would not naturally mix. (Kitchn, 2008) Another example of an emulsion is water in oil. These liquids can be physically mixed together, with a spoon or utensil, and they will appear mixed, but overtime they will resume their separated state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This works through creating a weak chemical bond between the butter and water, thus keeping the milk well homogenized. However, this chemical bond can easily be broken through agitation to the solution, like shaking, or stirring. When making butter, Heavy Cream is shaken or stirred until a solid precipitate is formed. The solid precipitate is the butter, and the liquid is the butter milk. Through physical agitation, the chemical bonds that the emulsion agent added to the mixture, has been broken, and the fat and water have separated, which results in butter. This separation occurs due to physical force is being exerted onto the phospholipid layer that surrounds the triglycerides. Through the physical agitation, the phospholipid layer begins to break apart, and it causes the triglycerides to bond together, which creates a solid mass of fat, which we refer to as ... ABSTRACT During 2013 2014 growing seasons, forty three isolates of Pestalotiopsis spp were recovered from guava leaves and fruits showed scab symptoms from different regions in EL Beheira governorate. Five Pestalotiopsis species were recognized according to the morphological characteristics of fungal colony (Colony color, Size and number of acervulii) and conidia (Length, Width, and Color of median cells, Length and the number of apical and basal appendages); they were P. psidii, P. microspora, P. clavispora, P. neglecta and Pestalotiosis sp. All the isolates recovered were pathogenic to the cv. Balady of guava fruits. However, P.psidii isolates were the most highly pathogenic followed by P. neglecta, P. clavispora, P. microspora and Pestalotiopsis sp, respectively. RAPD PCR analysis using five random oligonucleotide primers revealed DNA fingerprints and considerable variations were revealed with primers tested. Bar marker showed a common band for all Pestalotiopsis isolates and species at 500bp, while BAQ, 18 and A9B4 exhibited banding pattern similar for all isolates of the same species which were different from that of the other species. Scab disease control of infected fruits by chitosan as s natural product was tested. The in vitro 2.5% chitosan application significantly inhibited the growth of Pestalotiopsis spp tested by 86.53% on agar plates. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A totalitarian government tries to not only control all political and economic factors, but also the values, attitudes, and ideas of its overall population, eradicating the existing society with a utopian one. Many totalitarian methods, however, have distinguished ideological intentions. For example, the states most generally characterized as totalitarian are the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin and Nazi Germany under the rule of Adolf Hitler. To control the population and to expand the message of the country, propaganda was an excellent weapon. The media is governed by the state and the free press does not exist. Both dictators also do not allow public consultation, public opinion and disagreement is flattened through a that regularly kills dissidents. Both dictators exploit the usage of forced labor camps where many died in either concentration camps in Germany and Gulag camps in the Soviet Union. An unprecedented number of people in both countries were murdered if they were thought to be enemies of the state. Thesis: Both Stalin and Hitler committed some of the worst violations in history to achieve full authority. The most critical being the confinement and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Descriptive Essay About Fashion There were times when women were restricted to wear certain garments like a skirt that does not go past the knee, pants, and anything men considered sexy. Through trials and tribulations women have defied all odds with fashion. When I think of fashion I think of self expression, thanks to the women before me. One woman who fully inspired my fashion sense, is Betsey Johnson. With her fun, unique, and colorful fashion lines, she helped me to find my style. She is also a huge inspiration to me, as a fashion designer. Betsey Johnson is a fashion designer, well known for her eccentric but ladylike designs; Puffy skirts to make you feel like a beautiful ballerina, embellishments to make you sparkle and shine when your seen, and eye catching accessories that make you want to buy her garments. Her childhood interest of dance and costume laid the foundation for her creativity. Betsey attended Pratt Institute and later graduated from Syracuse University. She did not in fact go to school for fashion design, but her creative juices pulled her toward fashion. Upon finishing school Betsey landed an internship with Mademoiselle publication. She won a contest at the magazine, thus triggering her career; Fulltime fashion designer for Paraphernalia, made known a boutique called Betsey Bunky Nini, and other successful ventures she did. Therefore, enlightened eugenics calls for the education on the basis of minimalist eugenics while responsible eugenics would use reliable genetic tests in order to avoid neurological diseases and prevent the previously mentioned dangers caused by laissez faire eugenics. Kitcher s view of utopian eugenics envisions a society in which genetics allow people to make free and educated reproductive choices and in which the education broadens an understanding of the likely quality of a modest life. Contrary to Kitcher s minimalist model that constrains eugenic decisions only to avoid neurological diseases, Gregory Stock s position in the debate defends maximalist eugenics in which individuals have total free eugenic decision making, including enhancement, without any state coercion. He wants readers to accept and adopt such a position by arguing that genetic engineering such as selecting and alternating embryos is an inevitable future and human destiny (7, Stock, CC p.279). For example, if redesigning humans became commonplace, Stock reasons that parents would give their children endowments they desire but could not otherwise obtain and thus further expand life s possibilities to the next generation (8, Stock, CC p.276). In this society, people s genes would become an embodiment of their parents values and preferences. People would arguably want such endowments since they would view modifications as beneficial in ... An example of an impact by the Mongols on Chinese rule is the negative influences of tax farming on Chinese economy. Another example of a causation of Mongol rule on China is the of tax farming systems in order to improve revenue in the area. China during Mongol domination, incorporated philosophy and organization into the government, which helped it shape their cultural and political outlook. An example of an impact of Mongol rule on China s government is their use of provinces to organize China s cities, specifically with Yunnan. The Mongols used provinces to systemize the government and appointed governors to each district, where that governor would take care of the taxes. The reason for this method of organization is that the Mongols trusted foreigners more than the Chinese, so they appointed their tasks to foreigners such as the governor of Yunnan. I was initially interested in him because he was one of the major players from Europe who caused this nation to be founded under God, if you will, and is clearly an influential man in American history. Now that I have read more about him I realize he played an even larger role than I imagined. John Winthrop left all that he knew to go spread the gospel and create a city on a hill to shape a nation and despite all the hardships he faced, he never abandoned his efforts or ideals and that is a man I would love to talk to and learn from. John Winthrop is a significant figure in American history because he, along with a few others, laid the foundation for America as we know it today and put in place many of the ideals and principles that we still base our government and lives on in the present. Winthrop was with the group who were the first to govern a colony from within the colony, helped introduce and influence the people to adopt a government in which the people ruled and elected those making the laws and ruling over them, introduced the idea of separation of Church and State, helped establish a program of public and private education and a grammar school in Boston as early as 1635. Some people even call John Winthrop the Father of New England and America s Forgotten Founding Father. If I could actually come face to face with John Winthrop, one of the questions I would ask him is Why he would move to America to start the Massachusetts Bay Colony when he was doing well where he lived in England and knew the great risks of going? To this question, I believe that Winthrop s initial and main reason would be that it was God s plan and purpose for him in order to spread the gospel into those parts of the world and become an example, a city on a hill, for the rest of the world. I believe he would answer this way because of the things he writes in a Model of Christian Charity and because he had come upon some hardships in England around this time that he said he believed were God s way of preparing him to be willing and open to ... The reasons are various. Firstly Wal Mart s motto is to give quality goods at very cheap prices. All its operations are therefore designed to that end. Walmart has suppliers who offer competitive prices. Since the company has to serve various parts of the globe, they have the policy of sticking to the most reasonable prices. Thus the awareness of cost, customers, and need for investing in continuous improvement and the bifurcation of the various retail units to small supplier stores as individual firms have made the company s functions seamless and cost effective. However it cannot be sustained for long and the natural result is that the company looks out for cheap labor and less cost of production and supply units. Thus it regards the labor at the overseas units as lesser and tries to push costs down. Thus it can be seen that in controlling cost and being conscious of costs the company has all along made the labor at the receiving end. (Christopherson; Lillie, 2005) In a research on major multinational retail firms, like IKEA and Wal Mart, the fact is noted that there is a new era of labor standards. The story is set during World War II which happens to be the reason for the families move. Josh goes through many things throughout the story which makes him the man that he is at the end. The first object I chose was a car. The car represents the families move from Alabama to New Mexico. The family moves to New Mexico for safety during the war. Mr. Arnold leaves for the Navy soon after their arrival in Corazon Sagrado. The move and the absence leave Mrs. Arnold lonely and depressed. On the other hand, Josh grows from the move to Sagrado. He meets new friends and learns a lot of important lessons. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The malt represents the new friendship between Steenie, Marcia, and Josh. The three friends often go get malts together either for celebration or just for fun. They also go on different adventures with each other and almost do everything together. Josh is lucky to have found such great friends in New Mexico. I chose a knife next because of the time when Tarzan stabbed Chango. Chango was a bully to a lot of people, including Josh, and thought he was a real tough guy. When Tarzan stabs him it is like a wake up call. He drops his tough guy act and even becomes a friend to Josh. Chango also becomes a catholic, like his sister, after the stabbing. Another item I chose was paint and a paint brush. These items represent Josh s new friend Romeo, who is an artist. Romeo was a friend of Josh s parents and soon becomes a friend and teacher to Josh. At the end of the story Josh finds out that Romeo even created his father out of a bolder in his memory. I chose a tree and cooking pans to represent Amadeo and Excilda. Even though they were servants for the Arnold s they were also close family friends. Mrs. Arnold might not have been too fond of them but Josh had a very close relationship with them. They were both teachers to Josh and helped in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
