In January of 2015 Kanabec County and Pine County Public Health Departments merged into one
entity; Kanabec and Pine Community Health Services (KPCHS), as the State revenue is going to start
applying funding to larger demographic areas instead of smaller counties. The Purpose of a
Community Health Board (CHB) was to develop and maintain an integrated system of community
health services under local administration and within a system of state guidelines and standards. A
board of health must include within its jurisdiction a population of 30,000 or more persons or be

My Mission Trip From The United States
I have never known a time in my life where I have not gone to church. With that being said, it s not
my largest priority. I tend to get distracted during the school year with deadlines and hanging out with
friends. It s when I m able to go on a mission trip that I can truly show and see what I believe in. I
have been on four mission trips altogether and this summer I took a leap of faith and left the country
for the first time to serve. Nicaragua held the same focuses as trips in the United States, but what I
consider a mission trip from my experience in the past was not what this trip had in store. My first
mission trip was five years ago when I was in eighth grade. Both my sisters and brother had gone on
various mission trips and the one to Detroit was my first opportunity. On that trip we worked on fixing
up a couple churches that held youth group events. My team and I weeded, painted, planted flowers,
organized and cleaned the churches different offices and activity rooms during the first couple days of
the week long trip, the second half of the week, my team and I consisting of middle schoolers, put on a
day camp for the kids around the area to play games, do crafts, eat lunch, listen to worship music and

infection of 206 individuals and has resulted in 86 deaths2. The disease resulting from MERS CoV
infection presents with a fever of greater than 100.4ᵒF, acute respiratory distress syndrome and
pneumonia associated with acute renal failure1. The origin of the pathogen is in the Middle East
including the following countries: Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab
Emirates. Beyond the Arabian Peninsula the following countries have also been affected: France,
Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom2. If the number of cases, mortality, disease state and
distribution of the infection are considered then it is justifiable to say that MERS CoV is an emerging

When thinking about sociological issues taking place in our society today, issues concerning our
environment commonly are not ones we put on the top of the list, however they should be. It is not
