Lindsay struggles to find her place in high school among the different crowds of cliches. Growing
up Lindsay was considered a good girl and now she wants to join a different social order, the
burnouts. She struggles to balance the old good girl while trying to form a new friendships with the

My two most memorable scenes from this dialogue are Socrates demonstration of recollection

I found that the VOC free paint though more expensive still worked as regular paint would.
Another downfall to buying the VOC free paint was there wasn t as many color options because
VOC free paint is not as popular as regular paint so this made my project more challenging in
finding the right colors and being able to mix them. Whereas if it was just regular acrylic paint I
would be able to buy just the regular colors without having to mix as much as the VOC free

Background: Low back pain patients with associated leg pain symptoms generally have a poorer
prognostic outcome compared to those with localised low back pain. Therefore, this study will
investigate the difference in clinical outcomes associated with low back pain patients with and
without self reported leg pain symptoms. This study will also address if additional co factors such
as age, sex, and occupation have an effect on the severity of these clinical outcomes. The clinical
outcomes which will be considered are pain rating, interference with active daily living (ADL)
rating, anxiety rating, depression rating and control of pain rating.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study compares adult low back pain patients with localised pain
(n = 58) to low back pain patients with self reported leg pain symptoms (n = 54) who presented for
chiropractic treatment. Patients completed the WIOC patient outcomes questionnaire as baseline
which consisted of the Bournemouth Questionnaire, recording responses from an 11 point
numerical scale (NRS). Demographic information was also collected. Differences between the two
groups using the data collected from this questionnaire were calculated using the Mann Whitney U
test. Differences between age and sex were also calculated using the test used.

INTRODUCTION
In 2011, President Benigno Aquino administration set a goal of achieving rice self sufficiency by
2013 under the implementation of the National Rice Program. The country was declared 98% self
sufficient by the end of 2012. And just this fourth quarter of the year, Agriculture Secretary Proceso
Alcala stated that full sufficiency in rice is considered to be attainable at the end of 2013. The NRP
just one of the various government programs dealing with the reduction of poverty in the country
through rice support.

The total population of Bay is assumed to be the total target market of rice since everyone
consumes rice and in daily basis. The Per Capita Consumption or PCC of rice in the year 2008

to 2009 was 121.056 kg/yr. To get the total demand of rice in Bay, the PCC is multiplied to the
town s total population on certain years. The Table 3 shows the calculated total demand of rice
from the year 2010 to 2012.

Writing has always been the primary vehicle for social commentary and reform. From Upton
Sinclair s damning exposure of the meat processing industry in The Jungle, to George Orwell s
grave warning concerning communism in Animal Farm, to William Goulding s disturbing look at
human nature post World War 2 in Lord of the Flies, countless authors have attempted to expose
flaws in their society through writing. Rome, as a growing republic, and later as a sprawling
empire, was consistently rife with corruption, abuse of power, and the degradation of morals.
Writers like Sallust, Juvenal, and Tacitussaw these social flaws as opportunities, whether to drive
social or political change, or to increase their influence, or just to make a statement to the
government and the Roman people. However, these three writers each took a different approach to
his commentary. Through comedic hyperbole and satire, Juvenal looked to expose the moral
degradation of Roman women in Satire VI. On the other hand, Sallust focused on political
corruption in the late Roman Republic, using the history of the Jugurthine War as a lens by which
to observe the corruption he despised. With yet another approach, Tacitus aimed to criticize despots
like Emperor Domitian and to denounce imperialism through the biography of Agricola, the Roman
general who conquered Britain.

Jumping off of a rocky forty foot cliff is one of those risky accomplishments I can say I
overcame during my months venture. Towards the end of the trip I even went on a 17 mile
kayak trip around the beautiful Napali Coast. Events like this gave me a newfound confidence
in myself and my abilities to go into frightening and unfamiliar situations with an optimistic
outlook on how I will get through them. Not only did this trip give me amazing insight on the
unique characteristics of Hawaii, but it also taught me the skills needed to accommodate and
thrive in a new environment. Time management was one of these necessities required for
maintaining a balance between work and play. Before I went on this trip I was unaware of what
it would be like to have to deal with the daily responsibilities that aren t usually present in a
typical teenage life. Living with complete strangers and no longer having a parent s support can
be a tremendous change in a person s life. Having a sneak peek into that was exceptionally
helpful in making me aware of the future to come. These discoveries will be useful upon my
move to college where I will be living independently for the first time. I was able to experience an
unbelievable trip to somewhere incredible and completely different from the rest of the world.

Slaughterhouse Five, a novel written by Kurt Vonnegut, tells the story of the devastating effects of
war on a man, Billy Pilgrim, who joins the army fight in World War II. The semi autobiographical
novel sheds light on one of history s most tragic, yet rarely spoken of events, the 1945 fire
bombing of Dresden, Germany. Kurt Vonnegutwas born in 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana to
German parents. As a young man, Vonnegut wrote articles strongly opposing war for his high
school newspaper, and the school newspaper of Cornell University, where he attended college
(Allen 1). World War II broke out when he was just 16 years old, and at the age of 20, Vonnegut

In 1952, his very first novel, Player Piano was published. Over the next 17 years, Vonnegut
published 5 more novels, including Slaughterhouse Five in 1969. This was the book that
launched his fame, and a film adaptation of the book soon followed in 1969, which was

his death in 2007. The anti war story of Slaughterhouse Five centers on an awkward Billy
Pilgrim, a man who travels through time and has had extraordinary experiences on the planet
Tralfamadore with its inhabitants, the Tralfamadorians. Pilgrim, like Vonnegut, fought in World
War II and was still relatively new to the war when he was taken as prisoner by German soldiers.
He too was held in a slaughterhouse underground, which led to his survival of the 1945 Dresden
Firebombing, and was also held behind to gather and burn the remains of the dead. Pilgrim claims
that on his daughter s wedding night, he was first abducted by the Tralfamadorians, the aliens that
inhabited the planet Tralfamadore. These aliens have a fourth dimension; time. The
Tralfamadorians view time as a literal timeline; everything is predetermined, and they can access
any point of time at their will. Pilgrim returns to earth and believes that it is his duty to make
humans aware of this philosophy, and to spread the Tralfamadorians message. By the end of the
book, the reader comes to find that the time shifting and extraterrestrial experiences

Ancient Africa held many treasures like gold and salt that could be used to build a large empire.
A few men did exactly that. African empires were wealthy and great before men from Europe came
onto the scene. Before the arrival of the Europeans, African civilizations from 300 to 1400 CE were
wealthy, flourished in trade, and encouraged things like education, the arts, and security.

Protecting State Sovereignty The concern of the US government being undermined by a UN
committee should be nonexistent. The United States Supreme Court s decision in 1957 ruled that no
international law could override the country s Constitution (oyez.org). After the case, Reid v Court,

As defined by James Adams in his book The American Epic , the American Dream is the ideal of
this land being the land where life would be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with equal
