Business Impact Analysis Paper
Databases Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support
services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and
safety, and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be
discussing the following topics in this paper 1.Understand why implementing high availability for
mission critical databases is so important to IT s success. 2.Learn why true availability relies on
people, process, and technology. 3.Understand database methodology and approach to
implementing high availability. Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery
processes and technology will meet recovery time (RTO) and recovery point... Show more content

For example, an Info Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting
appropriate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system
uptime depends on people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the
system becomes significantly more vulnerable to human error the number one cause of downtime.
My Research Recommendation: Integrate these principles when planning for high availability
Step 1 Take a proactive approach to high availability. Attention to and investment in high
availability tends to happen reactively after system failures. When you proactively address high
availability, you ll give yourself time to holistically approach HA and address people, process,
and technology gaps. Step 2 It is the responsibility of IT to ensure the business has been informed
about the options and costs of higher availability. Business users can t assess time impact of
downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs often acutely aware of the impact of system
downtime should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime, achievable recovery times, and
options to improve availability Step 3 It is the responsibility of the business to decide what projects
to fund. Business stakeholders must decide whether to fund a project, not the IT team. It is up to
the business to make an informed decision about the availability investments

The Evolution Of Presidential Campaigns

Presidential Politics

The Evolution of Presidential Campaigns and Government Media Relations
The media has always played an important role in the President s relationship with the public, but
just what kind of affect does it really have on the executive office? The first televised presidential
debate in 1960 between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixonmarked the beginning of a new era
the inaugural shift of the media s role in politics. Since that time, the media has continued to
transform the way the president is perceived by the public through print, broadcast, and more
recently, social media. All of said outlets have played vital roles in not only a president s
campaign, but also in their presidency and likability throughout their time in office. While the
White House is still the source of most presidential news, the media are the shapers of the story and
can frame it pretty much any way they want. There used to be limits on certain issues or realms of
the presidency that were to remain untouched, however, first amendment freedoms take precedence
over almost any restriction the government could try to place on the media. The purpose of this
paper is to explore the relationship between the media and the president throughout recent years,
looking briefly into the past to establish the scale of the dramatic change, and to study their
reciprocal connection of how each utilizes the other.

Turkey Research Paper
The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The
history of Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know
for as the Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman
created an empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the
world. With that being said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western
nations during and after World War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture
in Turkey is widely practiced in the Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice
that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the
most mountainous parts, which tells you that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a
little more about mountains are that many peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey
s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at 16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller
ones. Another very interesting thing about Turkey is the people and their lifestyles, you may not

Normandy Invasion Research Paper
The Normandy Invasion may have been the single most important battle on the Western Front of
World War II. Much planning went into the siege of these beaches that ensured a tough, but
inevitable victory, as well as other factors, such as the exploitation of the Germans ignorance of
the attack. The Allied Forces took much time in plotting the invasion of the beaches of Normandy,
France to establish a sure victory, as they d be sacrificing many troops and resources. They also
skillfully and masterfully concocted a planned hoax by deciding they would place dummy landing
sites all around the eastern coast, set up dozens (hundreds, even) tanks to bluff an invasion of the
wrong site. They even planned to organize a faux radio network, that told... Show more content on

The whole war had led up to this day, especially since the plans for the invasion were being made
even as early as 1942 or 1943, after the Soviet Union requested help to relieve pressure on their
military in Eastern Europe following the Battle of Stalingrad, where they and Romania lost over
250,000 men combined. The thoughts of a soldier who had been fighting all throughout World
War II would have probably consisted of, one, wanted to go home already, but two, thinking that
nothing could be worse than what they had already experienced. They knew in their minds that
they were ready for this mission, and had the plans of the military backing up their claims of
definite victory. A soldier would, of course, hold their personal doubts and fright, but when
counted among many fellow troops willing to fight for the same cause as their own, they can t
help but feel the collective morale of their comrades and themselves. This personal morale was
only boosted by the genius work of WWII s commanders skills in speech. The day before the
actual attack, General Eisenhower gave his men a motivational speech they d never forget. An
excerpt from the speech: Soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are
about to embark upon the greatest crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The
eyes of the world are upon you. Though General George Patton also gave his own speech that
day, I won t bore you with another quote (though Patton was far from a boring individual). Instead,
you should now be able to reflect on how important morale was for the forces getting ready to siege
Normandy. The Allied troops were physically and mentally prepared, while the Germans in
Normandy, if anything, had lost morale as they believed there was nothing to do when stationed in

The Birthmark Literary Analysis
In The Birthmark , a short story by Nathanial Hawthorne, the use of the archetypal conflict Nature
vs. Science, the character of Damsel in Distress, and the symbol of the Incurable Wound show how
easily beauty is overlooked in the endeavor for perfection. The archetypal conflict of Nature vs.
Science is shown in Aylmer s intention to remove the birthmark, nature s constant reminder of
human mortality, from Georgiana s cheek. Aylmer believed that the birthmark might heighten
Georgiana s beauty if it wasn t her only visible imperfection, but on Georgiana s otherwise flawless
complexion the birthmark was nothing more than the fatal flaw of humanity...the ineludible gripe
in which mortality clutches the highest and purest of earthly mould,... Show more content on

Georgiana had always lived with the birthmark, and was quite fond of its charm. Many people in
the town believe it was a fairy s handprint left to sway all hearts; to them the mark only magnified
her appeal. The mark s charm had rarely been questioned by anyone other than the jealous
women of the town, and its peculiar nature had once intrigued Aylmer and amplified his
attraction to Georgiana. He begged for her hand in marriage, but soon after they were wed, he
queried whether Georgiana had ever considered having the birthmark removed. She was hurt by
the implication that the mark depreciated her and grew upset with her husband. As time passed,
Aylmer continued to stare at the mark, unable to keep his eyes from wandering to it. This
continued until Georgiana was no longer able to ignore the way his eyes were always fixated on
this sole imperfection, the crimson hand that kept him up at night and plagued his dreams. She
asked Aylmer to remove the mark, or take her life because she no longer wanted to live if she had
to live with the mark. She preferred death to the harsh scrutiny from her husband. The symbolic
meaning of the Incurable Wound is used to show the psychological impact of Georgiana s
insecurity about the birthmark because of Aylmer s lack of acceptance of her natural beauty.
Research has primarily focused on the consequences of exposure to beauty advertising

Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And...
Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market
Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting
more students and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need
to accommodate all the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the
University. The current location of the university is right in the middle of Downtown
Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the parking situation are pretty stringent.
Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also holds executive classes for
online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school equally high even on the
select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400 undergraduate, 2600 graduate
students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University only has one (1) 16 story
academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage within the same
building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story are
hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2].
Apart from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends
and after 5:00 PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a
more comprehensive approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus

The Blue Hotel
The Blue Hotel by Stephen Crane is classic short piece written in 1899. A time when Naturalism
became a concept of much influence. Naturalism, an outgrowth of Realism, is a movement in
literature that seeks to capture a believable everyday reality. This often portrays the darker side of
human nature and the harshness of life; including poverty, racism, prejudice, disease, prostitution,
filth, etc. Although The Blue Hotel is extremely well done, it was slow to start and has a weak
ending. I wished that the characters would have had more depth, making this my least favorite
piece. Crane, known for his Naturalist writing style, was inspired to write The Blue Hotel during a
trip to Lincoln, Nebraska. There he interfered a kerfuffle in a hotel... Show more content on

reality of his son s condition as if it were a position, something to be disagreed with. Benjamin
tries to accommodate his father by acting his age. By the time Benjamin is twelve years old, he
notices that his white hair has gone dark gray and fewer wrinkles line his face. Overall his
physical condition is improving and he is getting younger. Unlike his father, who cannot accept
the reality of Benjamin s physical appearance, the outside world is only capable of responding to
nothing other than Benjamin s physical appearance. For example, even though Yale accepts
Benjamin s application for college entrance, the university refuses to accept him in person
because he looks old enough to be his own father. he continues to age in reverse. Eventually,
Benjamin is young enough to go kindergarten, and finally too young even for that. As he gets
smaller and smaller, he forgets all the things he s ever done in life. At last, Benjamin can sense
only colors and the smell of milk, and finally even those small sensations fade away. The obvious

Obstacles In A Worn Path
The short story A Worn Path is about an elderly woman on a quest to a village far away from her
home in the country. Although the path is difficult and has many obstacles, the elderly lady
perseveres until she gets to her destination. The beginning paragraph sets the scene for the entire
story and introduces the readers to Phoenix Jackson. Phoenix is described as a very old and frail
woman that walks with a cane out in front of her, indicating poor vision. The story begins on a
cold morning in December on a path in the woods. The use of imagery foreshadows the difficult
path that Phoenix must take. The beginning paragraph also reiterates that Phoenix is ill but

First, Phoenix mistook a thorn bush for a green leafy bush and ended up getting caught in it.
Phoenix sat down to rest and saw a boy handing her a marble cake. However, when she went to
go grab it, she realized that there was nothing there: She did not dare to close her eyes, and when
a little boy brought her a plate with a slice of marble cake on it she spoke to him. (Welty 465).
She continued walking until she reached a field of dead corn where she mistook a scarecrow
for a ghost: Who be you the ghost of? For I have heard of nary death close by. (Welty 465).
Phoenix s vision and hallucinations impact the story by providing more evidence of her bravery
and just how lonely she is. A phoenix is a mythical bird that would live for 500 years, be
consumed by fire and then rise from its own ashes. The name Phoenix is appropriate for the main
character because she is very old, wise, and strong. Phoenix has traveled the same worn path several
times over the years. She knows the many challenges she faces including nature, persecution from
others, and her health. Like the bird, Phoenix continues to rise every time she must travel to town
to get the medicine for her grandson. She is persistent and keeps going no matter what happens

Ensuring The Success Of Deaf Students
Purpose of Study: Ensuring the Success of Deaf Students in Inclusive Physical Education was
written to assist physical educators in understanding deafness. By understanding deafness, a
teacher can relate to a student on a deeper level and provide the appropriate form of instruction
to the student. This article provided a basic knowledge of deafness, as well as strategies for
teachers as to how to manage a gymnasium with all students. Summary of Study: The article
Ensuring the Success of Deaf Students in Inclusive Physical Education gives the reader a better
understanding as to the variations of hearing impairments and deafness. It gives insight as to the
causes of hearing impairments. The article is intended for physical educators and provides
informational and teaching strategies that one can use to provide the best education to the
hearing impaired or Deaf. To begin the article, the authors inform the readers that the Deaf
community does not consider themselves to have a disability. Instead, they find that this is part
of who they are and they choose to embrace it. Other disabilities are referred to as students with...
, however, the Deaf community prefers to be called Deaf (with a capital D). The article continues
to mention that 85% of all Deaf and hearing impaired students are educated in public school
systems and nearly half of those spend the day in a general education classroom. Deafness is one

Social, Political And Economic Implications Of Money
Throughout the course of this semester, we have examined the role of money in our society and
have been introduced to scholars and economists that have offered rationale for the social, political
and economic implications of money. One overwhelming theme that has lingered throughout most
of the readings and lectures is the idea of inequality, particularly within the scope of the American
economy. While other economies such as China or India are labor based economies, I have found
that America s Capitalist economy is fueled by multiple facets racial inequality. The moral
argument against racial inequality under an economic lens is simple yet, expected; when we deny
opportunities for people of color in the same way we have them established... Show more content on

Black men are being denied the chance of a full life with all of the rights; privileges and
opportunities of white men and similarly, the families/communities from which they come from
are also at a significant disadvantage. A National Bureau of Research study found that Black
families between 2004 2008 were 54% more likely to be charged higher on their mortgage rates
than white families. This fact alone drives two main issues I will explore in this paper: the
implications of socioeconomics and how inequality drives the American economy through the lens
of mortgage lending.
One theorist I will use to explore these ideas of inequality is John Maynard Keynes. Keynes
argued that capitalism is a mere congery of possessors and pursuers (Keynes 60) and he also
asserted that economic output is only based on the aggregate demand . Between 2004 2008, when
Black families were getting charged higher interest rates on their homes than white families with
similar incomes, large banks were pocketing millions of extra dollars from these families as many
of the rates today would have been considered sub prime rates .
This predatory act placed against people of color encouraged classism and as a result led to
negative socioeconomic outcomes moreover, the notion of white

Team Andromeda will implement multiple operating systems within the forensic lab environment.
The Operating Systems that the lab will deploy are the Windows OS, Linux and Apple Mac
Operating systems. These three operating system will provide the basic operating system
environment to support the software package that we plan on using. Within each operating

Education Reform in American Schools Essay
Education Reform in American Schools
Frederick Douglass was, and still is, a golden example of why education is so important to a
human being s life. Douglass spent the first part of his life in ignorance. However, his life of a
seemingly endless servitude and ignorance was completely shattered by the fact that he learned to
read. Once he learned to read, his life was forever changed. He escaped slavery and tyranny and
became an icon even to this day.
Douglass s story more than adequately shows that a quality education is perhaps the most important
thing a person can receive in their life. Without his education, he would not have realized the shame
and inadequacy his slavery, and unfortunate acceptance of that slavery, held him... Show more

Interest groups, who are more interested in preserving their values as opposed to maintaining an
exceptional education (Christian fundamentalists, for instance), that control some communities,
can completely destroy any opportunity for a young mind to learn. The politics of racial
injustice are hopefully completely gone, but we re still living through a state where the races feel
as though they are still there. Of course, from my perspective (the perceived subjugator), it is
easy to claim the politics are not there. From the perspective of those who believe they are being
subjugated, it is even easier to say it is there. They feel it.
The second problem, and possibly the most important, is a question of interest.
Are schools really condusive to American youth to learn in a stumulating way? I don t believe so.
Pubescent students are almost incapable of true learning because their minds are clouded by a
hormonal fog for an enormous part of their lives. They walk around the schools nearly humming
and buzzing with new and exciting thoughts they are just beginning to understand. Once those
hormones have calmed and the student feels they can control them a little, there is still no
difference in the way they are taught. Nearly every school is the same (Wood 9). The students go to
class around eight in the morning and come home around three in the afternoon. If a student is old
enough, that student will move on

Theme Of Phony In Catcher In The Rye
In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger shows through Holden Caulfield how people
cannot help being phony and fake, no matter how diligently they try. Phoniness cannot be
overcome by any man, including Holden, even though he loathes people who are phony and do
not speak their true mind. In search for a solution, Holden hid from the real world and felt
extreme loneliness, and he broke down because he wanted the impossible. J.D. Salinger shows
the lack of connection between people, especially during times of trauma and depression
through Holden s obsession with the phoniness of the world, which leads Holden down a dark
path because there is no way to keep the world or people in general in a state of innocence. In the
novel, phoniness is recounted as when things are fake and unrealistic and when people do not
speak their true mind. Holden believes that everyone and most things, but himself, are phony.
Holden thought that at his old school, Elkton Hills, he was, Surrounded by phonies, (pg 17). He

Analysis Of The Hunger Games
In general, Stereotyping affect not only the youth of today but also other individuals. An
individual can be stereotyped based on race, skin color, class warfare or gender. The book, The
Hunger Games, which is now a well known movie, demonstrates how stereotyping can happen to
any individual. In The Hunger Games, Katniss is affected by stereotypes. Being a citizen from
District 12, her appearance and being a female affects the way the Capitol distinguishes her.
District 12 is the poorest district in Panem and everyone expects for the tributes to act as savages
and criminals. During the opening ceremonies, Katniss reminisces about the past tributes
clothing. Since District 12 s principal industry is coal mining, the past tributes have attended the
opening ceremony naked covered in black powder to represent coal dust or skimpy outfits and
hats with headlamps (The Hunger Games 66). District 12 tributes are judged by the Capitol and
the stylist judged them based on where they are from. The past stylists do not put any effort in
designing their clothing since District 12 tributes already look worn out and dirty. Typically,
everyone in the Capitol judges Katniss and Peeta because they are from a poorer side of Panem.
By stereotyping, we infer that a person has a whole range of characteristics and abilities that we
assume all members of that group have. It leads to social categorization which is one of the
reasons for prejudice attitudes (Mclead). There are plenty of young

Examples Of Intolerance In To Kill A Mockingbird
Why do the people of Maycomb have intolerance of each other? Because they do not accept
people that aren t like them. If they see someone in their town who isn t a stereotypical person,
they do not tolerate them. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, the characters
judge each other for not doing everything like they would like them to. Throughout the novel, the
people of Maycomb showed that they grew up around not tolerating each other, which shows
how it is not right to be prejudice against people that they do not even really know. The people of
Maycomb have passed their intolerance of each other on from generation to generation. They

The Davis Service Group And Its Takeover Of Berendsen Essay
FIntroduction:
In this assignment we will look at the Davis Service Group and its takeover of Berendsen. We
will also discuss 2 ways a company can grow, what a company would consider if they were
expanding globally. We will look at which aspects of the European Union encouraged the
horizontal growth of the business as well as the differences between Organic and Inorganic
growth. Lastly we will theorize why the acquisition of Berendsen was a good opportunity for the
Davis Service Group.
Describe two major ways in which a company can grow and include 2 examples. According to this
week s case study material a company can grow in the following ways. A merger or a Takeover.
A merger is defined by Investopedia as a deal to unite two existing companies into one new
company, Takeover Definition | Investopedia. (2003)
A takeover is defined by Investopedia as an acquiring company makes a bid for a target company,
If the takeover goes through, the acquiring company becomes responsible for all of the target
company s operations, holdings and debt, Takeover Definition | Investopedia. (2003)
An example of a Merger

In this video J. Collins talks about the idea of greatness as a conscious choice and discipline. His
opinion on greatness being a choice is very important. It is not by chance that Abraham Lincoln
became one of the greatest presidents of USA; it is because he chose to be better (Guelzo,
2002). A quick search in Google will yield hundreds of thousands search results for motivational
speakers. And in my opinion one thing that unites them all is the idea that disciple will provide
the opportunity to choose greatness. As a younger adult I always was deathly mortified of
driving big cars, but life had a different plan for me. At around age of 23 24 I was employed by a
valet company and part of the duties were to drive big cars. For several months I would ask my
coworkers to perform my duties of driving all the big cars that needed valet services. It was not
until several month later, when one of my coworkers told me: Jay get in that truck, take your
time, concentrate and drive that truck like you own it and long behold I did it. This was the
pivotal point for a change, since that day I would fight my coworker for the opportunity to drive
big trucks. I chose to be not afraid, I chose to be better valet and I chose to challenge my self. It
did take many months of practice (without any accidents) until I was comfortable enough to drive
a 6 ton truck as easily and efficiently as a 2 ton sports car. In my opinion one is not simply born to

Impact Of Technology On The Banking Industry
Changing Technologies The change and advancement in technology are a significant factor in the
banking business. Technology has led to tremendous improvements in this industry. Since the
commencement of this millennium, people have shown great love for their mobile phones
(Ozaki 1992). It necessitated the invention of mobile applications (APPs). From the introduction
of the mobile banking, APP people rarely go to the banks. All their transactions get done simply
by the stroke of a finger. Businesses face a challenge of adapting to changes in the technology
sector. Mobile banking either through actual investing or any other means is on the rise.
According to the most recent Federal Reserve study; most of us haven t set foot in a banking hall
in ages. It is a lost battle to banks that opt to use traditional methods to conduct their banking
transactions (Gup 2003). By December of last year, close to half of all smartphone users in the
United States had transacted some or all of their banking on their phones and iPhones. In the
United Kingdom alone, rates of mobile banking transactions doubled over the course of a single
year (Scn Education 2001). A banking business that invests in this type of technology gets assured
of increasing their customer base. Continued Globalization of markets involving 1st and 2nd world

Big Sean Research Paper
Big Sean (real name Sean Michael Leonard Anderson) is an American Rapper. He spent his
early life before becoming a rapper being raised in Detroit by his parents. Even though he was
raised in Detroit he was born in California by his mother Myra Anderson. When he was a kid he
had attended Detroit Waldorf School and graduated from Cass Technical High School with a
3.7 GPA. In his later high school years he would gain a valuable relationship with Detroit hip
hop station WHTD, which would serve to kick off his rapping career. By showing his rap skills
to the Detroit station he was allowed into a rap battle competition. This relevancy gave him the
ability to meet esteemed rapper Kanye West and show off his rapping ability. Kanye had only
allowed him a small verse in order to impress him, in which Big Sean apparently delivered. This
freestyle by Big Sean had impressed Kanye West so highly that he requested that he give him a
demo tape, and this demo type had given Kanye the incentive to sign Big Sean to his label two
years later. Kanye West, along with Eminem, Notorious B.I.G., and J Dilla as his influence for his

Willa Cather s O Pioneers !
Cather portraying herself in the characters and the flipped gender roles
Considering I am one of the only two males in the Intro to Women s Literature class, I felt moved
to touch on Willa Cather s flipping of the gender roles in the book O Pioneers! I will be using my
own opinion in this essay, along with textual evidence to back up my claims. I will also be
establishing connections between Cather s portrayals of herself within the themes and characters in
the book.
As we know, Willa Catherwas very open about her sexuality and her feelings towards women. She
dressed like a man for most of her life and even in her college days at the University of Nebraska
Lincoln, she had a haircut much like mine. One fact that is very impressive about Willa Cather is
that she lived this life of manhood during a time when that was extremely taboo. During the time
Willa Cather grew up, men were the dominant ones that could do anything they please. The fact that
Willa Cather broke through that stigma is inspiring to me, even as a male in the 21st century. I am
confident in saying that Willa Cather wrote very strong women characters, because she wanted to
show the women of the time that anything is possible. While winning a Pulitzer Prize and writing
many best selling books, I believe she accomplished that challenge very well.
My first quote gives us our very first physical description of the main character Alexandra She

Safest Exercise Analysis
When working out one can choose many exercises that will strengthen muscle and burn fat. The
IDEA website has many videos that will provide exercises to define and build muscles for
yourself or those you may coach. The exercise I chose is the wide reverse grip barbell deadlift.
This exercise has many benefits including fat burning; it is one of the safest exercises. So many
multiple muscles are stimulated in the process, and you will obtain better posture, and it increases
hormones for growth in your body. This exercisegives more benefits than a squat or a hamstring
curl, which are both exercises that work the lower body like this deadlift except this one targets
more muscles.
Now let s take a deeper look at what makes the deadlift an effective

The Issues Of Urban Poverty
American life was transformed in the 1960s from the start of the decade. The 1960s consisted of
new rights and new understandings of freedom. The sixties consisted of rights for racial
minorities to be involved in the mainstream of the American lifestyle. However, unsolved issues
of urban poverty still existed. Women in the 1960s established a conversion in women s status, for
instance, women entered the paid workforce. America experienced a growth of conservative
movements, consequently, the 1960s would confront judgment for social ill, crime and drug abuse
and drug abuse as well as decline respect towards authority. In despite of crisis, America became a
tolerant nation. The sixties are known as a decade of drastic change, rebellion, and backlash. Also,
for the American individuals that came of age during the sixties, the generation known as the Baby
Boomers, wanted to change the culture of their parents. Terry Anderson and Peter Clecak both
present different judgment of the social activism of the 1960s. Terry H. Anderson, from the The Sea
Change, implied that the sixties achieved a positive transformation within politics, society culture,
and foreign power. Anderson believed that America became more democratic as well as
comprehensive. (361) On the contrary, Peter Clecak, from The New Left, argued that radicals failed
to revolutionize in the sixties and additionally became powerless against the dominant social order.

The United States Presidential Elections
The United States presidential elections are this year, 2016, in November. As a student, a
citizen, or an aspiring politician, it is a good idea to know a little something about the
presidential candidates. At this point in the race there are only five people left that are running,
Donald trump (R), Bernie Sanders (S), Ted Cruz (R), Hillary Clinton (D), and John Kasich(R).
One might want to know the issues of each candidate, which party they are affiliating with, how
they plan to go about fixing these issues that we have, and the ultimate question will they be best
suited for presidency. I narrowed which candidates I want to research more on, down to Donald
Trump and Bernie Sanders. Donald Trump, the very well known business man, the republican.
The candidate that Speaks his mind and tells the truth no matter whose feelings get hurt. The man
no one thought would be this far along in the race. Donald Trump is no politician, he is merely a
business man that one day decided he could Make America Great Again. He has made clear all of
his opinions on various different issues. He has been known through this race as the person who
tells it like it is, but also one that contradicts most of his proposals. On his website he states many
issues that he will fix while in office. Those issues include, immigration, health care, trade reform,
veterans administration reform, taxreform, and second amendment rights. ( Positions , 2016) One

I. INTRODUCTION
A. Background The forces that are involve with the experiments are basically focused on the
concurrent forces. The experiment also allows us to develop the condition of balancing or
arranging the angles both sides on a force table. This laboratory experiment allows us to take the
mathematical abstraction of a vector to make it tangible as possible. This experiment will look into

II. METHODOLGY
A. Materials
ME 9447 Force Table, 3 pulleys and pulley clamps, 3 mass hangers, mass set, string, metric ruler,
protractor, 2 sheets of paper.
B. Procedure
Experimental Method
As a result of trail and error method we find the angle for the third pulley and the mass that should
had be suspended from it. This will balance the forces deployed on the strings due to the other two
masses. While the third force is defined as the equilibrant
(пїЅпїЅпїЅпїЅпїЅпїЅвѓ—пїЅпїЅпїЅпїЅпїЅпїЅ) Since it is the force that establishes the equilibrium.
It is also the negative of the resultant
We gathered and recorded the mass and the angle
required for the third pulley to enable to put the system into the equilibrium in table 1.
To enable to determine the system is in equilibrium we use the following specifications.
Ring Method of Finding Equilibrium
For this method the ring should be centered over the post when the system is in equilibrium. So
we tack the center post down so it will flush with the top surface of the force table and it will be no
longer comptent to hold the ring in the position. We also pulled the ring slightly to the one side and
release it to enable to inspect that the ring returns to the center. Then if not, adjust the mass or/and
the angle of the pulley until the ring constantly returns to the center when it is pulled slightly to one
side.
Anchor String Method of Finding

The Wife s Story By Ursula Le Guin
Ursula Le Guin uses techniques to put the audience at disbelief and at shook. In the story, The
Wife s Story, Guin uses irony to put the readers at sorrow for the characters like the husband. The
husband was portrayed as a kind beautiful man. A man that was good with the children and anyone
could see that there was nothing wrong with him. The womanwas deeply in love with the man with
many secrets. Secrets she did not know that would tear her family apart.
The story was viewed in the wife s perspective, which the readers believe that everything she tells
is right. In the beginning, when she met him, she knew that she would be happy with him. She
says, He was purely good to me. A hard worker and never lazy, so big and fine looking. (Le Guin 1)

were external examinations and internal examinations. It also lists medical history and
postmortem changes in the body. The three general sections of a complete autopsy report are
toxicology report/ lab results, diagnostics (ex. Ligature marks around the neck), and cause

the evidence so they can look at the entire picture. All these sections play an important role in
determining cause and manner of death. For example, a forensic pathologist can t say that
someone died because of a drug overdose if they don t have a toxicology report. This is why
autopsy reports can be lengthy because they have to make sure they are as accurate as possible.

Epipen Case Analysis
If Mylan is required to reclassify EpiPen as a brand name drug from prior years, then the total
amount of rebates Mylan owes can be calculated at 23.1 percent of net sales, plus the inflation
rebate since they started selling the drug in 2007, minus the amount they have already paid. So,
from 2011 2015 the company had net sales of $1,294,716,260 according to Slavitt s letter, which
includes both Medicaid and Medicare Part D. To calculate the rebates, the amount of all
combined revenue from EpiPen sales to the government needs to be estimated. For 2011 through
2015, that is provided by Slavitt s letter. For 2016, an estimate of $450 million can be used since
Mylan introduced a generic in the middle of December of last year. For 2008 2010,... Show more

According to the KFF article, Medicare and Medicaid spending on each EpiPen increased from
$71 in 2007 to $466 in 2015 (from Slavitt s letter), or 656%. This is clearly much higher than the
inflation rate of roughly 20% over the last 10 years (i.e. prices are now 20% higher than they
were 10 years ago). This means that the government is entitled to the vast majority of the
$1,879,976,260 that is owed minus the rebates already paid. The rebates Mylan paid can be
inferred from Slavitt s letter: From 2011 through 2015, total Medicaid spending on EpiPen was
$960 million, increasing from $66 million in 2011 to $365 million in 2015. After rebates, net
Medicaid spending over this five year period was approximately $797 million... So, it looks like
Mylan has already paid $960 million $797 million = $163 million in rebates. Subtracting this
amount from $1,879,976,260 yields $1,716,976,260. For 2016, Mylan also probably paid a
rebate of 13%. So, assuming that was on $450 million, that would come to $58.5 million.
Subtracting this amount from $1,716,976,260 gives $1,658,476,260. So, it looks like Mylan owes
just under $1.66 billion for the EpiPen rebates and this amount is before any penalties are

Love In Fahrenheit 451 Analysis
The Theme of Love in Fahrenheit 451
A world full a blank expressionless faces connected to even more mindless robotic people. A
world where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the
way to becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book
Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the
book. Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into
this leader his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s
story is broken into three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy
tale couple and then Clarisse made him realize that he was in a loveless relationship, but finally in
the last few pages Montag comes to peace with everything that has happened.
The time where Millie and Montag have a fairytale relationship is short lived but we can infer
that they had had a perfect relationship for the years leading up to the beginning of this book.
We can see an example of how Montag did everything in his power to ignore anything that
threatened his relationship when he talks to Clarisse for the first time. Clarisse asks Montag if
he is happy and Montag says quickly without much thought Of course I m happy. What does she
think? I m not? (Bradburry 8). Montag answered this question as quickly as you d answer a
simple addition problem. We see this happen in our world too. When someone asks How are
you? the only socially acceptable response is I m fine . But no one can be fine all the time. This
shows how our world is slowly beginning to become the dystopia described in Fahrenheit 451.
But everything must change and as our world changes for the worse Montag is becoming aware of
how bad his world and will set out to change it.
Next Montag realizes he has been trapped in a loveless relationship with Millie all these years.
After Clarisse asks him if he s happy he walks into his house to see that his wife has attempted
suicide. He calls the hospital expecting doctors to rush over to save her, but instead a pair of almost
janitors come to clean her out. Everything that had happened that day boiled up

Remembrance is a Substantial Burden in the Book, The...
Remembrance; the mental impression on the brain from a certain event. Each soldier in the book,
The Things They Carried, experiences some sort of remembrance whether it be saddening or
enlightening. Remembrance is consistently perceived as the ability our brains have to go back and
revisit moments in time which either disturb us, or give to us a feeling of pure happiness. Its mere
sound provokes thought along with curiosity. Generally, when we are alone, surrounded by a
nonchalant atmosphere, our brainswirls with thoughts, taking us back to significant moments in our
lives. These moments are never forgotten, they are always there for some sort of reason. By means
of these memories we can continue to learn from our mistakes and better our lifestyle.
In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, he presents his view on remembrance. O Brien doesn t
necessarily see remembrance in its materialistic form, he believes it is not about the act of
remembering, but about the fact that one does not have the ability to forget these events, especially
the events he had experienced. His perspective is that seeing a plethora of violent deaths in war, are
moments which are utterly effortless to recall, however they may be extraordinarily difficult to
bring up with someone else perhaps who does not really understand the intentions. By telling
stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain
truths. You make up others. You start sometimes with an

How Does Don Giovanni Contribute To The Enlightenment
Don Giovanni is a one of a kind character, yet so predictable living a certain lifestyle, almost to the
point of being mysterious. It is the enlightenment era however, where a lot of impossibilities were
being explored, and presented to the public in different forms, including this opera, Don Giovanni.
Although Don Giovanniseems like a total embodiment of immorality, he nevertheless carries some
admirable principles, sparkling the enlightenment idea through the story of Don Giovanni.
As we all know, the Enlightenment is known as the era of reasoning. Many had started to realize
the power of rational and logical thinking. Don Giovanni is a great example for this type of
thinking. Although more probably accuse him rather than praise him of seducing so many
women, Giovanni has his own reasoning to it. (How can it be fair if I just marry one woman) ?
This is in fact capable of bearing careful thoughts. It would not be fair for Giovanni to stay with
one single woman, for thus not only would it be unfair to all the other women, but Giovanni would

around that person should realize the signs of a suicidal person and should get them help. That

give her the amount needed to complete the transaction, a prosocial behavior. Prosocial behavior
is any act performed with the goals of benefiting another person (Aronson, Wilson, Akert, 2010).
This comparison matrix paper will show the differences and similarities of the authors by
comparing their introductions, the purpose of each study, their research questions, the literature
reviews, the sample population, study limitations, results and conclusions, and suggested topics
for future studies. Franco, Blau, and Zimbardo (2011) offer a straightforward definition of
heroism as to act in a prosocial manner without a personal gain. They continue by explaining that
only a few can reach heroic status and must be equipped with the proper skills or luck. Whereas,
Harvey, Erdos, and Turnbull (2009) defines heroism in their article s introduction as a man or
woman of distinguished bravery, a person who is reverenced and put on a pedestal, or any famous
person. These researchers find differences in opinions as to the definition of heroism. Franco et al.
(2011) argues heroes work without capital gains; whereas,

Wuthering Heights Revenge Quotes
as the victims contemplated revenge, the activity in their brains was recorded. The decision
caused a rush of neural activity in the caudate nucleus, an area of the brain known to procss
rewards. Revenge is a characteristic that everyone thinks will make them feel better after they
have been wronged; but is that really true? Will getting revenge on a person that did something
bad towards you make you feel better in the long run? In the book Wuthering Heights by Emily
Bronte there are many examples of revenge that still happen today. Most people think that love is
the main theme, but that is not the case; In the novel Wuthering Heights, revenge is the main
motive for all of the actions in the book because it is present in all of the choices,... Show more

Wuthering Heights is not a romance novel. Far from it, in fact. Sure there are some romantic
scenes in the story but the book is about revenge and getting even. In Wuthering Heights, a man
named Lockwood goes to Wuthering Heights manor to rent a nearby manor called Thrushcross
grange so even from the very beginning of the book you are getting deceived because Lockwood
is not the main character. In fact he s not the one telling the story at all. But I digress. He then
moves into Thrushcross grange, after a dreadful night of being stuck in Wuthering Heights manor
because of a snow storm. While he was there, he was plagued by nightmares about a ghost named
Catherine Linton trying to come through the window. Anyway, when he finally gets settled into
Thrushcross Grange he meets a woman named Ellen Nelly Dean, who is the housekeeper. She then
proceeds to tell the story of the mean man that lives at wuthering heights. Nelly begins by saying
that she started working for the Earnshaws when she was a little girl. Everything was going good
until Mr.Earnshaw went to Liverpool and brought home a little orphan child. Hindley, Mr.Earnshaw

NASA photos reveal mysterious domes on Mercury; Are they alien structures?
All those who believe in alien life must have thought about the kind of homes the extra terrestrial

A Semiotic Analysis Of Paulaner Weissbier
A Semiotic Analysis of Paulaner Weissbier
In the following text, a semiotic analysis of one German television commercial is carried out. It
represents Paulaner Weissbier and was aired on several German TV channels, such as ARD and
ZDF, in February 2012.
There are several reasons why this commercial of Paulaner Weissbier is considered to be suitable
for a semiotic analysis. Firstly, the fact that the commercial basically narrates a story indicates a
certain relevance of semiotics. Moreover, the commercial s format can be classified as a
personalized format, which allows for audiences to identify with the people interacting with it.
According to Sillars (1991), advertisements are considered to be effective, if they are able to clearly

Late 19th Century Law and Order Essay
Late 19th Century Law and Order
Thick green smog hung in the air and filth ran in the streets. 19th century London was not a nice
place to live. Crime was on the up with burglaries, drunkenness and assault being just some of the
crimes committed. Women got a rough deal. There was no work available to them so many women
turned to prostitution and alcoholism. Surprisingly enough, however, the percentages of violent
deaths was very low, with around 15 murders, and 50 cases of manslaughter a year.
The London police force has been active since 1829, when uniformed officers patrolled the streets.
Named after their founder, Sir Robert Peel, bobbies tried to keep order in the streets of London.

This form of attack is known as garrotting. In the area of Whitechapel, prostitutes were frequently
mugged for their night s earnings this way. Larceny was also widespread. Criminals would
frequently break into people s houses and steal their belongings, resulting in many people having
locks fitted on their doors. Many people were also pick pocketed, mainly due to the crowded and
busy streets, and coupled with the fact that many people were unsuspecting; the poor had many
victims to choose from and find what they could.
Demonstrations also required a lot of policing. Two of the most famously violent protests were
black Monday (8th February 1866) and bloody Sunday. (13th November 1866). Bloody Sunday
happened when the Social Democratic Federation (SDF) organised a meeting for 13th February,
1887 in Trafalgar Square to protest against the policies of the Conservative Government headed
by the Marques of Salisbury. The government decided to ban the meeting and the police were
given the orders to stop the marchers entering Trafalgar Square. The SDF decided to continue with
their planned meeting and as a result the marchers were attacked by the police. Three people died
and over 200 were injured. Black Monday happened on Monday 8 February when two rival
organisations, the London United Workmen s Committee and H.F. Hyndman s

Competition And Predation Play An Important Role
Coexistence has been happening among many species since the beginning of time throughout
nature. The way species exist is of great complexity as many factors such as: competition and
predation play an important role (Chase et al. 2002; Holt 1984; Paine 1966). Ecosystems,
communities and populations all face competition between their species. Studies are constantly
being done to show how different species survive together or die trying and what is it that they are
fighting to survive over. Different habitats, predator, prey, and so many other factors play a role in
the survival of species like protists. Many laboratory studies have been done on two protists,
Paramecium aurelia and Paramecium caudatum, to see different aspects of their... Show more

The prey will go slam down on the ground in seconds and be devoured in minutes by the lion.
The lion is allelopathy at its best because there is competition over survival and territory with
animals of this nature. Territory can be a limited resource depending on the time of year and the
environment as a whole, trees and brush being chopped down pose a problem when it comes to
sneaking up on prey. Gause started experimenting on protists to observe their development and
observe their survival ability together (Gause). Paramecium can be found in many places: wet
areas like lakes and rivers or dry areas such as those of trees and soil. Gause set out to experiment
with Paramecium aurelia and Paramecium caudatum to determine if they fit the competitive
exclusion theory that he came up with (Gause 1935). The class was given both parameciums to
experiment with for the validity of coexistence. The competitive exclusion theory begs the
question, can two species coexist together over a resource or will one of them be driven to
extinction? Gause may have been the leader to start the protists experiment but he wasn t the only
one to question competition. Gill had questioned Gause s theory and decided to do his own
research. Gill experimented on two species pure and mixed cultures of Paramecium aurelia. After
experimenting Gill discovered that Paramecium aurelia did not match up to Gause s theory and did
not compete over a limited resource instead

The Tax Of The Cadillac Tax
Description The Cadillac tax is a popular name for the highly controversial excise tax on
applicable high cost employer sponsored insurance (ESI) coverage imposed under the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Gravelle, 2015). Great debate ensued following the
proposal of this tax, which was initially set to be implemented in 2013, however differences in
opinion between the House of Representatives and the Senate culminated in the delay in the
implementation of this tax until 2018 (Herring, 2011). It is a nondeductible 40% excise tax on
the value of applicable employer sponsored health coverage that exceeds a determined threshold
(Lowry, 2015). The tax targets employer sponsored health coverage plans that are considered to
be overly generous or have relatively low cost sharing requirements in an effort to raise revenue
to offset the costs of implementing other ACA provisions, as well as encourage a reduction in
the growing expenditure and costs of national health care and offset some of the effects of the
income tax exclusion for ESI (Lowry, 2015). Applicable coverage for the purposes of the
Cadillac tax includes any coverage availed to an employee by an employer that is excludable from
an employee s gross income under section 106 of the IRC (Mach, 2015). Applicable coverage
includes, but is not restricted to an employee s contribution to heath insurance premiums, Health
care flexible spending account (FSA), Health savings account (HSA), Retiree coverage,

Sameness In The Real World
In this community everyone is the same, these people won t want what their friends have, if they
already have it or going to get it. In the real world, people have different items. Someone will have
something that they do not have and then they may try to get it. If everyone were the same and
had the same things, then there would be no stealing. Not all the people are the same in the
community they get the same items at different ages, but eventually they will get it. There would
also be no jealousy if everyone had the same things and looked similar. Sameness prevents bullying
since clothes and physical features, are the same.
Also in the community, people don t pick who they want to marry. This is good so no one will
divorce or make any mistakes. It does not seem right for someone to pick who they love, but since
these people lived like this there whole life it doesn t seem weird for someone to do that. The chief

Prophets And The Old Testament
The last seventeen books of the Old Testament are books of prophecy. Five of these books are
known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The
prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called
by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people
to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the
nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth
(Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God.
One of the most unique features of the true Old Testamentprophets was their ability to predict
(Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already
occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the
future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. The prophets spoke on many issues
such as idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Frederick E. Greenspahn addressed the
prophets input on idolatry. Israelite prophets seem particularly concerned with this problem: their
land is full of idols... idols of silver and gold which they made in order to prostrate [to them], says
Isaiah (Greenspahn, 2004). Isaiah was not the only prophet who ran into the problem of idolatry,
Hosea describes the Northern

The Values Of A College Is A Community College
A college is an educational institution where you earn the skill, the values, the education, the
degree to succeed in life. It may be a four year college, a community college or an institution that
offers vocational education. Now that you know how I define a college, I would like to explain
the prompt and my viewpoint. Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill, in their report published in
2013 by the Brookings Institution, mention for certain schools, majors, occupations and
individuals, a college may not be a smart investment (page 209), to which I completely disagree.
I will use the following paragraphs to substantiate my viewpoint that, college indeed is a smart
investment irrespective of the occupations and majors, by citing examples, quotes, and some
personal anecdotes. As John Stuart Mill once said and I quote the objective of universities is not
to make skillful lawyers, physicians, or engineers, but capable and cultivated human beings .
From the discussion in the class, we reached a similar conclusion about how college plays an
important role in our lives and enlisted reasons for attending college. College presents a myriad of
opportunities in terms of networking, for jobs. It helps a person to grow into a skillful, well
educated individual. It assists a person to

How Does Gun Violence Affect Teens
Teens, Pre teens and guns

you thought you stored , and your toddler is on the floor with blood gushing out of his body. Your
son now scarred, and precious daughter now dying, it s too late too late to think What could I have
done to prevent this . 48 children and teens are killed either accidentally, in a suicide, or in a

a gangster growing up in South Central Los Angeles. A couple years after this trend has sort of

shows there might be a connection and some that shows that there isn t. One school massacre that
really started this trend the all known too well Columbine Highschool Massacre. Where two
seniors at the school Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris shot multiple students and a faculty member.
Even in recent instances there have been multiple school shootings like one a couple years ago, the
sandy hook shooting where a 20 year old male named Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 individuals
including his own mother.
What have lawmakers done about these horrendous acts? Well honestly they can t take away our
guns because that s against the constitution but they really have tried limiting the gun laws,
especially in California. Partially this is because of the Democratic ran government but more than
that they think stricter gun laws are going to prevent the shootings from happening.

Summary Of Slavery Without Submission
With reference to chapter 8 and 9 of Zinn s book: Slavery without Submission , Emancipation
without freedom in A People s History of the United States, It was clearly established that that the
Civil War was not really fought over the moral issue of slavery, but rather the economic issue of
slavery. To reveal these American intentions behind the abolition of slavery, Zinn focuses on the
Civil War which usually thought of as the paramount event in U.S. emancipation. After reviewing a
few slave revolts and their defeats, he turns to focus on Abraham Lincolnand his ability to skillfully
blend the interests of the very rich and the interests of the black at a moment in history when these
interests met.

After school study for free
As a school we aim to create practical support for our students needa, along with one to one tuition,
a warm place to go at the beginning and end of the day, food, and the enrichment activities (sport,
trips and cultural activities) that some families cannot afford.
There was more of a presence of meritocracy a number of years ago, and most schools have made
decisions to end streaming classes. Purely from a social inequity point of view this is a smart
move. We have already established that working class students fare less well so by streaming they
would more than likely be in the one class. Unfortunately Smyth et al (2004) states that streaming
of students is more prevalent in schools in disadvantaged areas which is the case in our schools.
As illustrated in Hart et al (2007) Government sponsored initiatives to raise standards and improve
practice in schools have placed particular emphasis upon the need to differentiate by ability . DEIS
schools have a stem test for students entering the schools at the beginning. It is clearly evident that
the brightest students are put in a higher level of class with a breakdown of other students
afterwards. The schools reproduce such inequality that even those students that the test do not
highlight are much after a later period. This myself I have witness, where teachers are asked for the
top three students of each. What

The reality is that many places are just as bad including those semi rural areas where my Mother
and Father were born. However, people had fun there, including me on many occasions. When
viewed through a gendered lens, the people in Falls City Nebraska during 1993 as depicted in
this movie were no doubt unhappy. However, the unhappiness was not merely a function of
where they lived, the lack of opportunity and mobility, or even their unfortunate economic
circumstances. People can live happy lives while being burdened by all of the above. The
message of the movie, as I see it, was that gender stereotypes and prejudices can destroy many
people whose mental, emotional and physical framework doesn t fit the acceptable definitions
of male and female . In the case of those who are forced to repress their feelings and are somehow
able to play by the gender rules , I find it difficult to believe real happiness will be in the cards for
them. And even those people who actually believe and/or accept the rigid definitions of gender
and appropriate behavior will live diminished lives that are less full, less interesting and far less

  • 2. Business Impact Analysis Paper Databases Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and safety, and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be discussing the following topics in this paper 1.Understand why implementing high availability for mission critical databases is so important to IT s success. 2.Learn why true availability relies on people, process, and technology. 3.Understand database methodology and approach to implementing high availability. Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery processes and technology will meet recovery time (RTO) and recovery point... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, an Info Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting appropriate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system uptime depends on people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the system becomes significantly more vulnerable to human error the number one cause of downtime. My Research Recommendation: Integrate these principles when planning for high availability Step 1 Take a proactive approach to high availability. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to happen reactively after system failures. When you proactively address high availability, you ll give yourself time to holistically approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Step 2 It is the responsibility of IT to ensure the business has been informed about the options and costs of higher availability. Business users can t assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs often acutely aware of the impact of system downtime should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime, achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step 3 It is the responsibility of the business to decide what projects to fund. Business stakeholders must decide whether to fund a project, not the IT team. It is up to the business to make an informed decision about the availability investments ... • 3. The Evolution Of Presidential Campaigns Niko Kazanjian Presidential Politics 12/2/14 The Evolution of Presidential Campaigns and Government Media Relations The media has always played an important role in the President s relationship with the public, but just what kind of affect does it really have on the executive office? The first televised presidential debate in 1960 between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixonmarked the beginning of a new era the inaugural shift of the media s role in politics. Since that time, the media has continued to transform the way the president is perceived by the public through print, broadcast, and more recently, social media. All of said outlets have played vital roles in not only a president s campaign, but also in their presidency and likability throughout their time in office. While the White House is still the source of most presidential news, the media are the shapers of the story and can frame it pretty much any way they want. There used to be limits on certain issues or realms of the presidency that were to remain untouched, however, first amendment freedoms take precedence over almost any restriction the government could try to place on the media. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between the media and the president throughout recent years, looking briefly into the past to establish the scale of the dramatic change, and to study their reciprocal connection of how each utilizes the other. Looking Back On September 26, 1960, the first of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Turkey Research Paper The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The history of Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after World War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely practiced in the Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous parts, which tells you that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a little more about mountains are that many peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at 16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller ones. Another very interesting thing about Turkey is the people and their lifestyles, you may not know but turkish lives are far from the same as American lives, the... • 5. Normandy Invasion Research Paper The Normandy Invasion may have been the single most important battle on the Western Front of World War II. Much planning went into the siege of these beaches that ensured a tough, but inevitable victory, as well as other factors, such as the exploitation of the Germans ignorance of the attack. The Allied Forces took much time in plotting the invasion of the beaches of Normandy, France to establish a sure victory, as they d be sacrificing many troops and resources. They also skillfully and masterfully concocted a planned hoax by deciding they would place dummy landing sites all around the eastern coast, set up dozens (hundreds, even) tanks to bluff an invasion of the wrong site. They even planned to organize a faux radio network, that told... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole war had led up to this day, especially since the plans for the invasion were being made even as early as 1942 or 1943, after the Soviet Union requested help to relieve pressure on their military in Eastern Europe following the Battle of Stalingrad, where they and Romania lost over 250,000 men combined. The thoughts of a soldier who had been fighting all throughout World War II would have probably consisted of, one, wanted to go home already, but two, thinking that nothing could be worse than what they had already experienced. They knew in their minds that they were ready for this mission, and had the plans of the military backing up their claims of definite victory. A soldier would, of course, hold their personal doubts and fright, but when counted among many fellow troops willing to fight for the same cause as their own, they can t help but feel the collective morale of their comrades and themselves. This personal morale was only boosted by the genius work of WWII s commanders skills in speech. The day before the actual attack, General Eisenhower gave his men a motivational speech they d never forget. An excerpt from the speech: Soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the greatest crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. Though General George Patton also gave his own speech that day, I won t bore you with another quote (though Patton was far from a boring individual). Instead, you should now be able to reflect on how important morale was for the forces getting ready to siege Normandy. The Allied troops were physically and mentally prepared, while the Germans in Normandy, if anything, had lost morale as they believed there was nothing to do when stationed in that ... • 6. The Birthmark Literary Analysis In The Birthmark , a short story by Nathanial Hawthorne, the use of the archetypal conflict Nature vs. Science, the character of Damsel in Distress, and the symbol of the Incurable Wound show how easily beauty is overlooked in the endeavor for perfection. The archetypal conflict of Nature vs. Science is shown in Aylmer s intention to remove the birthmark, nature s constant reminder of human mortality, from Georgiana s cheek. Aylmer believed that the birthmark might heighten Georgiana s beauty if it wasn t her only visible imperfection, but on Georgiana s otherwise flawless complexion the birthmark was nothing more than the fatal flaw of humanity...the ineludible gripe in which mortality clutches the highest and purest of earthly mould,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Georgiana had always lived with the birthmark, and was quite fond of its charm. Many people in the town believe it was a fairy s handprint left to sway all hearts; to them the mark only magnified her appeal. The mark s charm had rarely been questioned by anyone other than the jealous women of the town, and its peculiar nature had once intrigued Aylmer and amplified his attraction to Georgiana. He begged for her hand in marriage, but soon after they were wed, he queried whether Georgiana had ever considered having the birthmark removed. She was hurt by the implication that the mark depreciated her and grew upset with her husband. As time passed, Aylmer continued to stare at the mark, unable to keep his eyes from wandering to it. This continued until Georgiana was no longer able to ignore the way his eyes were always fixated on this sole imperfection, the crimson hand that kept him up at night and plagued his dreams. She asked Aylmer to remove the mark, or take her life because she no longer wanted to live if she had to live with the mark. She preferred death to the harsh scrutiny from her husband. The symbolic meaning of the Incurable Wound is used to show the psychological impact of Georgiana s insecurity about the birthmark because of Aylmer s lack of acceptance of her natural beauty. Research has primarily focused on the consequences of exposure to beauty advertising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And... Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting more students and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need to accommodate all the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the University. The current location of the university is right in the middle of Downtown Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the parking situation are pretty stringent. Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also holds executive classes for online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school equally high even on the select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400 undergraduate, 2600 graduate students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University only has one (1) 16 story academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage within the same building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story are hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2]. Apart from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends and after 5:00 PM on Weekdays. • 8. The Blue Hotel The Blue Hotel by Stephen Crane is classic short piece written in 1899. A time when Naturalism became a concept of much influence. Naturalism, an outgrowth of Realism, is a movement in literature that seeks to capture a believable everyday reality. This often portrays the darker side of human nature and the harshness of life; including poverty, racism, prejudice, disease, prostitution, filth, etc. Although The Blue Hotel is extremely well done, it was slow to start and has a weak ending. I wished that the characters would have had more depth, making this my least favorite piece. Crane, known for his Naturalist writing style, was inspired to write The Blue Hotel during a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska. There he interfered a kerfuffle in a hotel... Overall his physical condition is improving and he is getting younger. Although the path is difficult and has many obstacles, the elderly lady perseveres until she gets to her destination. The beginning paragraph sets the scene for the entire story and introduces the readers to Phoenix Jackson. Phoenix is described as a very old and frail woman that walks with a cane out in front of her, indicating poor vision. The story begins on a cold morning in December on a path in the woods. A phoenix is a mythical bird that would live for 500 years, be consumed by fire and then rise from its own ashes. The name Phoenix is appropriate for the main character because she is very old, wise, and strong. Phoenix has traveled the same worn path several times over the years. • 10. Ensuring The Success Of Deaf Students Purpose of Study: Ensuring the Success of Deaf Students in Inclusive Physical Education was written to assist physical educators in understanding deafness. By understanding deafness, a teacher can relate to a student on a deeper level and provide the appropriate form of instruction to the student. This article provided a basic knowledge of deafness, as well as strategies for teachers as to how to manage a gymnasium with all students. Summary of Study: The article Ensuring the Success of Deaf Students in Inclusive Physical Education gives the reader a better understanding as to the variations of hearing impairments and deafness. It gives insight as to the causes of hearing impairments. The article is intended for physical educators and provides informational and teaching strategies that one can use to provide the best education to the hearing impaired or Deaf. To begin the article, the authors inform the readers that the Deaf community does not consider themselves to have a disability. Instead, they find that this is part of who they are and they choose to embrace it. Other disabilities are referred to as students with... , however, the Deaf community prefers to be called Deaf (with a capital D). Social, Political And Economic Implications Of Money Throughout the course of this semester, we have examined the role of money in our society and have been introduced to scholars and economists that have offered rationale for the social, political and economic implications of money. One overwhelming theme that has lingered throughout most of the readings and lectures is the idea of inequality, particularly within the scope of the American economy. While other economies such as China or India are labor based economies, I have found that America s Capitalist economy is fueled by multiple facets racial inequality. The moral argument against racial inequality under an economic lens is simple yet, expected; when we deny opportunities for people of color in the same way we have them established... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black men are being denied the chance of a full life with all of the rights; privileges and opportunities of white men and similarly, the families/communities from which they come from are also at a significant disadvantage. A National Bureau of Research study found that Black families between 2004 2008 were 54% more likely to be charged higher on their mortgage rates than white families. This fact alone drives two main issues I will explore in this paper: the implications of socioeconomics and how inequality drives the American economy through the lens of mortgage lending. One theorist I will use to explore these ideas of inequality is John Maynard Keynes. Keynes argued that capitalism is a mere congery of possessors and pursuers (Keynes 60) and he also asserted that economic output is only based on the aggregate demand . Between 2004 2008, when Black families were getting charged higher interest rates on their homes than white families with similar incomes, large banks were pocketing millions of extra dollars from these families as many of the rates today would have been considered sub prime rates . This predatory act placed against people of color encouraged classism and as a result led to negative socioeconomic outcomes moreover, the notion of white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Education Reform in American Schools Essay Education Reform in American Schools Frederick Douglass was, and still is, a golden example of why education is so important to a human being s life. Douglass spent the first part of his life in ignorance. However, his life of a seemingly endless servitude and ignorance was completely shattered by the fact that he learned to read. Once he learned to read, his life was forever changed. He escaped slavery and tyranny and became an icon even to this day. Douglass s story more than adequately shows that a quality education is perhaps the most important thing a person can receive in their life. Without his education, he would not have realized the shame and inadequacy his slavery, and unfortunate acceptance of that slavery, held him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interest groups, who are more interested in preserving their values as opposed to maintaining an exceptional education (Christian fundamentalists, for instance), that control some communities, can completely destroy any opportunity for a young mind to learn. The politics of racial injustice are hopefully completely gone, but we re still living through a state where the races feel as though they are still there. Of course, from my perspective (the perceived subjugator), it is easy to claim the politics are not there. From the perspective of those who believe they are being subjugated, it is even easier to say it is there. They feel it. The second problem, and possibly the most important, is a question of interest. Are schools really condusive to American youth to learn in a stumulating way? I don t believe so. Pubescent students are almost incapable of true learning because their minds are clouded by a hormonal fog for an enormous part of their lives. They walk around the schools nearly humming and buzzing with new and exciting thoughts they are just beginning to understand. Once those hormones have calmed and the student feels they can control them a little, there is still no difference in the way they are taught. Nearly every school is the same (Wood 9). • 14. Theme Of Phony In Catcher In The Rye In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger shows through Holden Caulfield how people cannot help being phony and fake, no matter how diligently they try. Phoniness cannot be overcome by any man, including Holden, even though he loathes people who are phony and do not speak their true mind. In search for a solution, Holden hid from the real world and felt extreme loneliness, and he broke down because he wanted the impossible. J.D. Salinger shows the lack of connection between people, especially during times of trauma and depression through Holden s obsession with the phoniness of the world, which leads Holden down a dark path because there is no way to keep the world or people in general in a state of innocence. In the novel, phoniness is recounted as when things are fake and unrealistic and when people do not speak their true mind. Holden believes that everyone and most things, but himself, are phony. Holden thought that at his old school, Elkton Hills, he was, Surrounded by phonies, (pg 17). • 15. Analysis Of The Hunger Games In general, Stereotyping affect not only the youth of today but also other individuals. An individual can be stereotyped based on race, skin color, class warfare or gender. The book, The Hunger Games, which is now a well known movie, demonstrates how stereotyping can happen to any individual. In The Hunger Games, Katniss is affected by stereotypes. Being a citizen from District 12, her appearance and being a female affects the way the Capitol distinguishes her. District 12 is the poorest district in Panem and everyone expects for the tributes to act as savages and criminals. During the opening ceremonies, Katniss reminisces about the past tributes clothing. Since District 12 s principal industry is coal mining, the past tributes have attended the opening ceremony naked covered in black powder to represent coal dust or skimpy outfits and hats with headlamps (The Hunger Games 66). District 12 tributes are judged by the Capitol and the stylist judged them based on where they are from. The past stylists do not put any effort in designing their clothing since District 12 tributes already look worn out and dirty. Typically, everyone in the Capitol judges Katniss and Peeta because they are from a poorer side of Panem. If they see someone in their town who isn t a stereotypical person, they do not tolerate them. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, the characters judge each other for not doing everything like they would like them to. Throughout the novel, the people of Maycomb showed that they grew up around not tolerating each other, which shows how it is not right to be prejudice against people that they do not even really know. The people of Maycomb have passed their intolerance of each other on from generation to generation. They judge each other on how they dress. You should be in a dress and camisole, young lady! Technology has led to tremendous improvements in this industry. Since the commencement of this millennium, people have shown great love for their mobile phones (Ozaki 1992). It necessitated the invention of mobile applications (APPs). From the introduction of the mobile banking, APP people rarely go to the banks. All their transactions get done simply by the stroke of a finger. Businesses face a challenge of adapting to changes in the technology sector. Mobile banking either through actual investing or any other means is on the rise. According to the most recent Federal Reserve study; most of us haven t set foot in a banking hall in ages. It is a lost battle to banks that opt to use traditional methods to conduct their banking transactions (Gup 2003). As we know, Willa Catherwas very open about her sexuality and her feelings towards women. She dressed like a man for most of her life and even in her college days at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, she had a haircut much like mine. One fact that is very impressive about Willa Cather is that she lived this life of manhood during a time when that was extremely taboo. During the time Willa Cather grew up, men were the dominant ones that could do anything they please. The fact that Willa Cather broke through that stigma is inspiring to me, even as a male in the 21st century. I am confident in saying that Willa Cather wrote very strong women characters, because she wanted to show the women of the time that anything is possible. • 30. Epipen Case Analysis If Mylan is required to reclassify EpiPen as a brand name drug from prior years, then the total amount of rebates Mylan owes can be calculated at 23.1 percent of net sales, plus the inflation rebate since they started selling the drug in 2007, minus the amount they have already paid. So, from 2011 2015 the company had net sales of $1,294,716,260 according to Slavitt s letter, which includes both Medicaid and Medicare Part D. To calculate the rebates, the amount of all combined revenue from EpiPen sales to the government needs to be estimated. For 2011 through 2015, that is provided by Slavitt s letter. For 2016, an estimate of $450 million can be used since Mylan introduced a generic in the middle of December of last year. For 2008 2010,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the KFF article, Medicare and Medicaid spending on each EpiPen increased from $71 in 2007 to $466 in 2015 (from Slavitt s letter), or 656%. This is clearly much higher than the inflation rate of roughly 20% over the last 10 years (i.e. prices are now 20% higher than they were 10 years ago). This means that the government is entitled to the vast majority of the $1,879,976,260 that is owed minus the rebates already paid. The rebates Mylan paid can be inferred from Slavitt s letter: From 2011 through 2015, total Medicaid spending on EpiPen was $960 million, increasing from $66 million in 2011 to $365 million in 2015. After rebates, net Medicaid spending over this five year period was approximately $797 million... So, it looks like Mylan has already paid $960 million $797 million = $163 million in rebates. Subtracting this amount from $1,879,976,260 yields $1,716,976,260. For 2016, Mylan also probably paid a rebate of 13%. So, assuming that was on $450 million, that would come to $58.5 million. Subtracting this amount from $1,716,976,260 gives $1,658,476,260. So, it looks like Mylan owes just under $1.66 billion for the EpiPen rebates and this amount is before any penalties are ... A world where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the way to becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the book. Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into this leader his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s story is broken into three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy tale couple and then Clarisse made him realize that he was in a loveless relationship, but finally in the last few pages Montag comes to peace with everything that has happened. The time where Millie and Montag have a fairytale relationship is short lived but we can infer that they had had a perfect relationship for the years leading up to the beginning of this book. We can see an example of how Montag did everything in his power to ignore anything that threatened his relationship when he talks to Clarisse for the first time. Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy and Montag says quickly without much thought Of course I m happy. What does she think? I m not? (Bradburry 8). Montag answered this question as quickly as you d answer a simple addition problem. We see this happen in our world too. This shows how our world is slowly beginning to become the dystopia described in Fahrenheit 451. But everything must change and as our world changes for the worse Montag is becoming aware of how bad his world and will set out to change it. Each soldier in the book, The Things They Carried, experiences some sort of remembrance whether it be saddening or enlightening. Remembrance is consistently perceived as the ability our brains have to go back and revisit moments in time which either disturb us, or give to us a feeling of pure happiness. Its mere sound provokes thought along with curiosity. Generally, when we are alone, surrounded by a nonchalant atmosphere, our brainswirls with thoughts, taking us back to significant moments in our lives. O Brien doesn t necessarily see remembrance in its materialistic form, he believes it is not about the act of remembering, but about the fact that one does not have the ability to forget these events, especially the events he had experienced. His perspective is that seeing a plethora of violent deaths in war, are moments which are utterly effortless to recall, however they may be extraordinarily difficult to bring up with someone else perhaps who does not really understand the intentions. People around that person should realize the signs of a suicidal person and should get them help. If other people take the signs of suicide seriously, that could lead to prevention of suicide. If people openly talk to the person thinking about suicide, that action could save that person. Suicidal people are normally in so much pain that they believe that killing themselves is the only way to escape that pain, and go to a better place where they can be happy and not in pain. The way species exist is of great complexity as many factors such as: competition and predation play an important role (Chase et al. 2002; Holt 1984; Paine 1966). Ecosystems, communities and populations all face competition between their species. Studies are constantly being done to show how different species survive together or die trying and what is it that they are fighting to survive over. Territory can be a limited resource depending on the time of year and the environment as a whole, trees and brush being chopped down pose a problem when it comes to sneaking up on prey. Gause started experimenting on protists to observe their development and observe their survival ability together (Gause). Paramecium can be found in many places: wet areas like lakes and rivers or dry areas such as those of trees and soil. Gause set out to experiment with Paramecium aurelia and Paramecium caudatum to determine if they fit the competitive exclusion theory that he came up with (Gause 1935). The class was given both parameciums to experiment with for the validity of coexistence. The competitive exclusion theory begs the question, can two species coexist together over a resource or will one of them be driven to extinction? Gause may have been the leader to start the protists experiment but he wasn t the only one to question competition. Gill had questioned Gause s theory and decided to do his own research. • 46. The Tax Of The Cadillac Tax Description The Cadillac tax is a popular name for the highly controversial excise tax on applicable high cost employer sponsored insurance (ESI) coverage imposed under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Gravelle, 2015). Great debate ensued following the proposal of this tax, which was initially set to be implemented in 2013, however differences in opinion between the House of Representatives and the Senate culminated in the delay in the implementation of this tax until 2018 (Herring, 2011). It is a nondeductible 40% excise tax on the value of applicable employer sponsored health coverage that exceeds a determined threshold (Lowry, 2015). The tax targets employer sponsored health coverage plans that are considered to be overly generous or have relatively low cost sharing requirements in an effort to raise revenue to offset the costs of implementing other ACA provisions, as well as encourage a reduction in the growing expenditure and costs of national health care and offset some of the effects of the income tax exclusion for ESI (Lowry, 2015). Applicable coverage for the purposes of the Cadillac tax includes any coverage availed to an employee by an employer that is excludable from an employee s gross income under section 106 of the IRC (Mach, 2015). Five of these books are known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth (Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God. One of the most unique features of the true Old Testamentprophets was their ability to predict (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. The prophets spoke on many issues such as idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Frederick E. Greenspahn addressed the prophets input on idolatry. Israelite prophets seem particularly concerned with this problem: their land is full of idols... idols of silver and gold which they made in order to prostrate [to them], says Isaiah (Greenspahn, 2004).
