2. Building an Off Road Vehicle from Scratch
Building an off road vehicle from scratch is a difficult process. It consists of
welding, fabricating brackets and mounts, and aligning all of the parts to work with
each other. Building this vehicle is going to be a learning experience for me. I am
new to welding and I am new to designing a vehicle like this. The following
paragraphs show the different types of welding, the safety gear used for welding, the
tools involved in my project, and the complex machines I used to complete my off
road vehicle.
The definition of welding is a process where two or more pieces of metal are
fastened together by the use of heat and pressure. The welder I am using is a
Miller 350p MIG. This welder has three processes it can do: MIG welding, pulsed
MIG and flux cored MIG welding. MIG welding works by forming one droplet of
molten metal at the end of the electrode poss the arc and into the puddle. Pulsed
MIG welding is a non contact transfer method between the electrode and the weld
puddle. This means that the electrode never touches the puddle. This is
accomplished through high speed manipulation of the electrical output of the
welding machine. It is designed to be a spatterless process. It runs at a lower heat
input than a spray or globular transfer method.er pulse. Then, the right amount of
current is added to push that one droplet acr A weld is only as strong as your
thickest metal you are welding (Farnsworth 147) (Miller) (Kadubek)(Borchert 169).

3. The Giver Assignment
Imagine a world where your job was chosen for you. You never got paid, but you
were still happy. This is what happens in Lois Lowry s book The Giver. In Jonas
society the Elders assign a job to the children after the Ceremony of the Twelve s.
If our society operated like Jonas then it would be horrible and if I were observed
and got an assignment right now it would be at the House of the Old. In Jonas
society the Assignments are chosen by the Elders and that is their job for the rest of
their life. When they are new children that is when the Elders start observing the
children to see what job they think they would be good at. As they grow older, the
Elders take into consideration what the children volunteer the most and rule out where
4. Honor And Glory In The Iliad By Homer
Homer, in his epic poem, The Iliad , develops his theme, honor and glory, through
his main hero Hector. Hector and Achilles both throughout Homers novel were a big
help to their sides and seemed too both display Homers theme, honor and glory, so
there s one question. Who s Homers main hero. Achilles was absent for most of the
last year of the Trojan Warfor personal reasons, which is a big push back for him.
Achillesalso had a lot of help from the gods so we don t know if he would be the
warrior he was without help from the gods. And finally Hector was not afraid of
anything and he was willing to give his life for his country. After lots of study on
Achilles, Hector, and many other heroes, it seems that Homers main hero that is used

The conflict begins when the fact that Achilles defeated Hector is brought up.
However Homer states that Achilles was overcome by anger when he defeated
Hector. A real hero fights for honor and his side, not for vengeance. When Achilles
killed Hector, Hector stood up and fought back which allowed him to die an
honorable death. Homer states that Achilles s armor and weapons were created by
the god Vulcan. Achilles might not have defeated Hector without his powerful
armor. Hector did not back down the whole war for any reasons. He stayed and
fought with all his heart without making any excuses. Achilles might ve been feared
more than Hector was feared but it was only because he was more known and had
more time to show his skills. Homers main hero in his epic poem, The Iliad , is Hector

administration and the community nation wide. As for school districts new
regulations have been put in to ensure the safety of their students and faculty
attending their facility. The Columbine High School Massacrehas let people know
nationwide that school shootings can happen anywhere and they can have very tragic

6. My Fitness Test Scores
Throughout physical education class, there were numerous factors that led to the
changes in my fitness test scores. Regarding exercise, I would consider myself to be
an active person throughout the year, which probably led to some improvement in
my results. In school, I participated in physical education class in my 9th and 10th
grade year, which allowed me to apply the principles of specificity and progression.
Physical educationallowed me to get more exercisethrough workouts and games,
which would definitely lead to an improvement in my fitness testing. With school
sports, I participated in cross country in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track
and field in the spring. These sports helped me improve my cardiovascular endurance,

However, I do not have a job or profession that allows me to exercise because I have
not applied for one. This could lead to a fitness testing score decrease. Additionally,
I do not have a membership at a fitness center because I like to run outside. This is
related to the steady state category because I already run outside of school for
cardiovascular endurance, but I do not work on muscular strength or endurance
since I do not go to a fitness center. Also, the fitness plan I created in my freshman
year was ineffective, as I did not do much of what I was supposed to do. Even
though I did run 300 miles in the summer, I did not do a lot of weightlifting like my
fitness plan recommended. Overall, me not enacting my fitness plan probably led to a
regression in my fitness test scores. Regarding my personal aspect, I would say that I
was pretty neutral throughout my physical education class time. In sports and in
physical education class, I had the drive to get better and work hard, but I could have
been more supportive and encouraging of myself and others, causing me to have a
neutral attitude. This neutral attitude probably represents some back and forth
movement in my fitness
7. Great Expectations Social Commentary Essay
Title That s just what happens when you re rich and you don t have a job, you get
crazy. This line, spoken by Zoey Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen, could not have fit
the ideas stated in Great Expectations any better. One of the major ideas conveyed
consistently throughout Great Expectations is of never being satisfied, and the
constant desire for wealth and fame. Also indirectly relayed through the novel very
often is Charles Dicken s social commentary. He looks down upon the desire for
wealth and fame, and this is disguised through his descriptions of the middle class s
goal of becoming high class, and high class mannerisms. This can also be connected
to the 21st century. One of Dicken s main points on social commentary has to do with

One great example of this is the way Mrs. Pocket handles her baby. Usually the
nurses or her other daughter Jane take care of the baby, so when Mrs. Pocket takes
care of the baby, it is humorous to the reader. When society first sees her handle the
baby, Mrs. Pocket took it the other way, and got its head upon the table; which was
announced to all resent by a prodigious concussion (Dickens 179). It is clear that
Mrs. Pocket doesn t know how to care for her baby, and while laughable, this is
also a very sad situation. It was her baby that she gave birth to, and she doesn t
even know how to hold it! Dickens is clearly making fun of the higher class and
how heavily they rely on hired help to take care of their children. This is seen again
later in the chapter. At this point, she is helpless in her attempts of taking care of
the baby. Dickens writes, Into Mrs. Pocket s lap, and gave it the nutcrackers to
play with...forgetting all about the baby on her lap: who did most appalling things
with the nutcrackers (Dickens 179 180). This is an obvious lack of parental
nurturing in the Pocket home, and this is an effect of their wealth and heavy
reliance on servants. Dickens makes another point against the upper class when he
shows Pip s lack of control after receiving his sum. Dickens writes, We spent as
much money as we could, and got as little for it as people could make up their
minds to give us (Dickens 256). Pip is clearly in panic when he receives such a
large sum of money. Due to this, he loses control and does what he has always
wished to do: spend it all! He doesn t know anything else. As an effect of receiving so
much money, Pip spends it impulsively on silly things, such as the gentlemen s
society. In summary, Dickens poked fun at the upper class s mannerisms throughout
the entire
8. Adolf Hitler Essay
Adolf Hitler Adolf Hitler changed the course of history. His childhood strongly
shaped his personality. There were many deciding factors that determined the kind
of person Hitler finally became. Adolf s father was Alois, an illegitimate child, his
mother was Marie Schickulgruber. Alois took his fathers name Hitler before
Adolf was born. Alois was already a successful border guard when he was 18, and
later became an Austrian customs official. He retired in 1849 after 40 years of
service. He was 58 and retired early because of bad health. After he retired he
bought a nine acre farm near the small town of Hafeld. His dream was to live a
country life, but the farm took much more work than he expected.... Show more

He was jailed twice for theft and led an unhappy adult life. He lived in Paris for a
while and then moved all the way to Ireland, but when Adolf became famous he
moved to Berlin and opened a cafe hoping to take advantage of his brother s
popularity. Adolf disliked him and told his friends never to mention his name.
When Adolf was born his mother was afraid he would die so she gave most of her
attention to him. She treated the other two kindly but never with the same
affection as she treated Adolf. Adolf liked his half sister Angela much better, but
his baby sister Paula was his closest sibling. Paula too charge of his household, and
remained faithful even after he became famous. Adolf was born in 1889 in
Brounan, Austria, a small city on the German border. When Adolf was young, he
took singing lessons and sang in the choir in a Benedictine monastery. Adolf did
very well in elementary school until he became interested in art. As soon as he saw
all the attention he could get from drawing he immediately began drawing pictures
of castles and landscapes that amazed his peers. Much to his fathers
disappointment he decided to pursue a career in art instead of following in his
fathers footsteps. Since he did his drawing in class his school work suffered. Hitler
said later on in life that he did bad in school so his father would let him pursue his
career in art. At this time

10. River Runs Through Analysis
Art in the Village is an art gallery located in Casey Jones Village in Jackson,
Tennessee. This gallery features over 20 local artist s stunning pieces in a wide
assortment of mediums. With paintings, woodwork, sculptures, ceramics, and
jewelry, this gallery had a variation of art to view or purchase. Due to the fact that
there is artwork from many different artists in the Art in the Village, there is not a
theme to the artwork there. However, after reviewing all the art, you can notice that
each artist had their own theme. Each artist shares their inimitable talents and artistic
gifts, making this gallery one of a kind. Though the great pieces in this gallery were
boundless, one piece that really stuck out was River Runs Through by Jette Garner....

Through movement of spiraling colors, a sense of rhythm and a focal point was
created in the upper right corner. Though the artist did not list her medium for this
piece, it was pretty clear she used acrylic paint. The use of the complimentary colors
purple and yellow creates a contrast that catches the eye. Also, the contrast of colors
creates implied lines and circles. The River Runs Through is well balanced. The left
contains patterned or textured colors that metamorphoses into a focal point of smooth
colors creating the perfect balance. This painting is smaller scaled. Though it does
contain formal qualities, I would say that this piece is more informal than formal.
It holds an impression of both modern art and abstract art adjoined. With the title as
Garner s strongest hint, this photo is meant to symbolize a river that keeps running.
The wound colors make this river appear as it keeps going on and on. Overall, I
believe this was a very successful piece of
11. Greason Differences In Shakespeare
Even though Shakespeare of Stratford is commonly believed to have written the
plays ascribed to him, Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford is a better candidate because
he was educated in the royal court mannerisms and there was coincidences in
Hamlet s life with same thing happening in de Vere s, he had the proper training to
understand the complex grammar of Shakespeare s plays, was a well known for his
writing, and also had a shaking spear on the Oxford Coat of Arms.
Shakespeare of Stratford is shown as the writer of the William Shakespeare s pieces.
While the Occam s razor theory of the simplest solution is usually the correct one
(Pressley) makes sense in theory, there are gaps in the Stratford argument. For
example, as mentioned by Keir Cutler,
12. A Brief Biography of Kanye West
College Dropout was Kanye West s debut album and in my opinion was his best
yet. The album cover features Kanye West in a bear costume sitting on some
wooden bleachers surrounded by a rustic cherub ridden, floral boarder. This image
stands out to me in a lot of good ways. I like the boarder a lot and I think baby
angels are very cute and are meant to symbolize Kanyes art school back round.
Kanye says that the album cover is meant to say that people do not always have to
follow what society thinks that they should. The drop out bear mascot he named
himself and is supposed to iconize this rebellious album and attitude towards the
world and its institutions. Kanye had a lot of help from Eric Duvauchelle who is
now a design director at Nike. Kanye Westwas in a car accident in October of two
thousand and three. This very serious accident motivated him to become a world
star rapper because at the time he was only a producer in Chicago but had worked on
some very famous peoples records such as Jay Z. I really like the cover because it is
elegant, classy, and it says a lot about him bursting onto the rap scene in a not so
typical manner.
Before he made a name for himself in the rap community, Kanye was in school at
the American Academy of Art, where he had gotten a scholarship to study visual
art. He dropped out when he realized that he would never be one of the great visual
artists of the world and didn t want to end up working for an advertising agency. This
idea was a good
13. The History of the Amish Essay
The History of the Amish
The Amish, who are also called The Plain People or Old Order Amish, originated in
Switzerland in approximately 1525. They originated from a movement called the
Anabaptist movement. Jacom Amman was the leader. This happened during the
reformation in the16th Century Europe. They believed in holding on to traditions
and keeping themselves separated from the world. He was stricter about this than
other Anabaptists of that time. The Anabaptists were against the union of church and
state and also against infant baptism. They felt that each individual should make this
choice for himself when he or she is old enough. They felt the age for baptism was
about 18 years. This disagreed with the laws of the time. It was ... Show more content

However, on occasion they will use tractors with steel wheels to pull large
equipment on the highway. And, it is rare to see tractors being used in the fields,
except in climates that are too hot for horses. Very few of the Old Order use indoor
plumbing and running water.
The New Order maintains many of the Old Order practices. However, they are
considered the most progressive of the Amish groups. Some of these New Order
Groups use telephones, regular air filled tires for their tractors, and even electricity in
their homes.
Some extreme cases are the conservative Swartzentrubers, and the Nebraska Amish
of Central Pennsylvania who do not use indoor plumbing, or motorized machinery of
any kind. They also wear even more conservative clothing. The Nebraska Amish, for
example, do not wear suspenders or bonnets, and will not even allow screens on their
doors and windows. Over 90% of the current Amish population, are from the original
emigrant ancestors. There are less than 10% converts included in the total
membership.
Today there are between 100,000 and 150,000 Amish in North America. The largest
group resides in Holmes County, Ohio. Other areas of concentration for the Amish
are in Pennsylvania, northern Indiana and Iowa. Fewer still are to be found in the
eastern and mid western states and Ontario, Canada. All together, the Amish are said
to have communities in 24 states. When most people think of the Amish, they

The Popularity of Gangster Films in the Early Nineteen Thirties The late 1920s in
America was a particularly tumultuous period of time for the country. The Wall
Street Crash in 1929 had led to high levels of unemployment and dissatisfaction
within the country. The Depression (1929 1934), which was a direct result of The
Wall Street Crash, led to a breakdown of industry and commerce within the country
and weakened its global position as a superpower. People began to realise that the

During this period the rise of urban gang rule and mobsters was unprecedented,
mainly emerging from minority immigrant groups (Jewish/Italian/Irish). Initially the
gangsters of the period were seen as high achievers as they were associated with the
proletariat and seemed to be capable of rising above there roots, even during hard
times in America, and achieve wealth. When considering the socio economic factors
it is easy to understand why such men were considered as gangster heroes [3] who
represented the people, however the only way that gangsters could achieve this
wealth, subsequently fulfilling the American Dream, was by stealing it. Accruing
capital meant accruing power over others [4]. Therefore it could be argued that the
success gangsters exemplified was a perverse form of the American dream as it
disregarded some of the key elements of the ideal. The fact that at this stage in
America gangsters were the only group within society who could make upward
mobility believable, tells much about how legitimate institutions had failed but that
mobility was still at the core of what Americans held to be the American dream [5].
In the early 1930 s productions began within Hollywood of what were commonly
described as social problem pictures [6], these films dealt specifically with the social
difficulties of the period such as unemployment/labour struggles ( Black

you hold (about foreign cultures).
The level of thinking and perception of every individual is different from the other
and they have the guts and abilities to use their thinking and perception for the sake
of their country and entity as well. Stereotypes are a kind of error in terms of thinking
and perception in which people have a different level of thinking against an
individual or a specific community. There are number of stereotypes which foreigners
usually hold about Australians and among them some of them are, Punctual, Rude
and Egoists are some of them. The main reason behind holding and having these
stereotypes is the attitudes and cultures which have been seen in the sports in which
Australian players have rude behaviors with the other players playing in the other
eleven. In terms of foreign cultures, the three stereotypes we have are trustworthy,
loyal and dedicated (Damien McLoughlin, 2010).

From Loneliness to Insanity in A Rose for Emily and The Yellow Wall Paper
In The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir states that within a patriarchal society
woman does not enjoy the dignity of being a person; she herself forms a part of the
patrimony of a man: first of her father, then of her husband (82 3). Both Emily
Grierson in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and the narrator of Charlotte
Perkins Gilman s The YellowWall Paper are forced into solitude simply because
they are women. Emily s father rejects all of her prospective mates; the husband of
Gilman s narrator isolates her from stimulation of any kind. Eventually, Emily is a
recluse trapped in a deprecated home, and the narrator in Gilman s story is a

After living so long as a victim of loneliness perpetrated by her father, Emily
decides that she will be vindicated she will have her man. She orders a toiletry set
to be engraved with Homer s initials, purchases an outfit and a nightshirt for him,
and buys the arsenic that is to seal his fate. When the townspeople enter her house
for the first time in forty years, they find a bridal tomb: a tarnished toiletry set, a
neatly pressed suit, and a rotting Homer Baron clad in the nightshirt wearing a
profound and fleshless grin (87).
Just as the patrimony of a man destroys Emily, it also destroys the first person
narrator of The Yellow Wall Paper, secluded from both life and reality by her over
protective husband. The narrator is both creative and eccentric; her husband is
practical in the extreme (160). She believes that congenial work, with excitement
and change, would do [her] good (160). Her husband, however, believes in the
strength of conventional medicine such as the rest cure for nervous diseases
(164). Like Emily s father who denies her a family and a life of her own, the
husband of Gilman s narrator denies not only her desire to write, but also her
craving for society and stimulus as she struggles to find a creative outlet (160). This
appears a type of solitary confinement for such a creative being, and it should come
as no surprise that she is crazed after months
18. Analysis Of Ask Me If I Care And Safari Essay
Women have a few common tropes in literature. Seen as submissive to men, and
sexualized because of it, women are presented as less than. While this has been
strayed from a little bit in modern literature with the engagement of queer writers, it
is still very much the normal view of women, due to a society in which the view on
women is that of being less than. The short stories Ask Me if I Care and Safari by
Jennifer Egan both perpetuate this idea of women as submissive. Egan presents
female characters who only exist in the context of men, thus leaving them to be seen
as inferior to the men. These tropes of women in literature, and Egan s use of them,
fit into the larger conversation: there is a degradation of women in literature due to
common conceptions of women in society.
Egan presents multiple female characters in Ask Me if I Care . The short story
touches on a group of friends, and in this group are the two characters of Rhea and
Jocelyn both female. While they may seem to be presented differently, Rhea as a
not interested in being sexualized character and Jocelyn as a sexualizes herself
character, both ultimately play into the trope of submissive and degraded women.
Rhea, from the beginning, is portrayed as needing men: Still, if it s Bennie and me
I hope for the back, so that I can push against his shoulder in the cold, and hold him
for a second when we hit a bump (Egan, Ask Me ). While this may seem innocuous,
it is the first introduction to Rhea. The very

20. Analysis Of Ted Conover s Coyotes
Analysis: Ted Conover
Coyotes
Coyotes (Conover. T. 1987) was written by Ted Conover and published by Random
House Inc in 1987 (iDreamBooks.com), Ted Conover is an American author well
known for going undercover and actively participating in his chosen field of
research (newnewjournalism.com), generally staying in the role for a long period
of time such as in Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing (Conover. T. 2000) when he went
undercover as a correction officer, or prison guard, (Conover. T. 2000) for a year to
find the information that he was not able to gather in any other way as he was a
journalist.
To Conover s true style whilst writing Coyotes: A Journey Across Borders With
America s Illegal Migrants (Conover. T. 1987) he went undercover, again for a year,
to explore and understand illegal immigration, the immigrants and the mercenaries
involved. At first Conover was trying to describe the sensation of crossing the border
without actually putting himself at risk, and at involvement but, when that failed and
it was pointed out that without ever actually crossing the border himself he would
never truly understand, Conover decided that he would find a way to cross the
border much the same as the illegal immigrants did, and he succeeded.
Coyotes (Conover. T. 1987) was written in the hopes that it would help better
understand the impact that illegal immigration had on the two societies, American
and Mexican, and since Conover is an American citizen, and was at the

Liberal democracies, are defined as the system in which governmental body operate
under the principle of individual rights and work to protect them regardless of
religion, sect, ethnicity etc. Liberal democracies are thought to be secular in nature
and generally do not account for religions or ethnicities rather they promote a certain
nationalistic perspective throughout the state. Laws are made through majority vote
in the parliament and are meant to be logical in nature rather than derived from
sources like religion, culture, traditions etc. However, in some parts of the world
such as Middle East, people value their sectarian or ethnic identities more than
nationalistic values. So a debate emerges around the openness of democratic system
to religion. Although Ethnocracy offers short term solution for some countries like
Syria, yet the system should be based on liberal democracythat work on the principle
of State nationthat protects core values of democracy and account for religions as
well.
Ethnocracy is a system that only allows political parties based on ethnic, religion or
sectarian identities to participate in the elections and individual choices are ignored.
This system is applicable in some countries like Lebanon where after widespread
conflict between different groups, it has been authorized that three parties based on
Christians, Sunni Muslims and Shia Muslims can only participate in elections and
people have to tie with any of these groups. There are quotas

24. What Are The Similarities Between Mannerism And Realism
Mannerism and Realism are two periods in the history of art that did not born by
themselves but were part of a greater movement or originate because they do not
accept the convention of the previous movement. In these essay the main artists
from these two movement will be compared in order to show how art has changed
over three centuries of world changes. The first artist that will be analyzed is El Greco
from Mannerismand the second one is Gustave Courbet, a representative of Realism.
An interesting fact about these two artist is that even though they lived in different
epochs they have chosen the same theme for one of their paintings and this allows to

El Greco was fascinated by the Italian Reinassance and by Mannerism, he uses art
to express his religious fervor and devotion in paintings like Burial of Count Orgaz
instead Courbet is living in a period of political instabily and fights for the civil
rights so he found himself closer to Realism, an art movement that express these
values and produce his masterpiece Burial at Ornans to show that common people
have the same dignity and were not inferior to other social classes such as
aristocracy and that art should focus more on the depiction of the common. The
transition from what is pleasant and idealized to what is its opposite is abrupt and
not gradual and it is caused by political events like the French reovolution where the
painters, spokesman of the society along with writers, refused to represent what is
good to be seen but the reality that still should be valued and this is why the Burial at
Ornans had become more popular and appreciated over time even though at the
beginning it was highly criticized instead The Burial of Count Orgaz can be clearly
put in the category of religious art in this case intepreted according to the Mannerist
convections. However nothing is removed to the creativity of these two artist that
have interpreted the same theme to reach two completely different results that will
remain unique in art
25. The Origins Of The American Mafia
INTRODUCTION Since their beginning, American society has been fascinated with
the gangster lifestyle and the American Mafia is no exception to this trend. Mafia
themed movies such as Scarface and Goodfellas have proven to be timeless classics.
However, the American Mafia goes deeper than the media shows. While they do have
the same name, the American Mafiais a group of Italian Americans and is not directly
affiliated with the original Sicilian Mafia. The American Mafia is a highly organized
and complex nationwide criminal network with a membership hierarchy and a strict
set of values.
HISTORY
The origin of the American Mafia can be traced back to the late 1800 s and early
1900 s. Thousands of Italians flocked to America in hopes of better economic
opportunities. Between 1880 and 1910, the Italian population in New York alone
increased by 2400%, from 20,000 to 500,000. While the majority of the Italian
immigrant were good and law abiding citizens, a minority formed small neighborhood
gangs that would later become one of the largest organized crime gangs in the United
States. During the 1920 s Prohibition era, the 18th Amendment was in full swing and
the manufacture, sale, and distribution of alcohol was strictly banned. The budding
American Mafia took this as a business opportunity and turned to bootlegging. They
were incredibly successful at this and their crime regime also grew to include money
laundering, smuggling, and bribing officials. Meanwhile in Italy, the

The new WLAN network will be protected by multiple firewalls, IPS, IDS, and a
file integrity system. The Firewall systems will be used to prevent scanning
activity as well as blocking malicious IPs from entering the network. This is critical
because being able to block this type of traffic can save a network and the people
who watch it a lot of time on incident investigations. When hackers are scanning a
network they are looking for reply backs from any port(s) that will respond. This
can help them finger print a system and by knowing what is on a network they can
use this information for crafting attacks. Once this is identified by a security team
they can block the intruding IP at the firewall. This will prevent all traffic coming
and going to the suspicious IP in question. The IPS and IDS systems will be
another addition that will be used to protect the Riordan Manufacturing networks as
well. There is a difference between these two systems and it is important to know
what each one does. The IPS stand for Intrusion Prevention System. This system is
designed to prevent attacks from hitting the network. For the new Riordan network
the IPS system that will be implemented is Surefire because use a rule based

PITUITARY APOPLEXY INTRODUCTION Pituitary apoplexy is a rare
condition that can be missed or misdiagnosed if a strong clinical suspicion is not
present. The consequences can be deleterious for vision or even life threatening.
This remains a poorly understood entity in both its pathogenesis and optimal
management. The aim of treatment is to preserve life, vision and functionality of
the gland. There is still controversy regarding the optimal management of these
patients, especially conservative versus surgical management and the timing of
surgical intervention. What is known for sure is that the diagnosis of pituitary
apoplexy remains a neuroendocrine emergency and requires decision making as to
whether to manage the patient conservatively or surgically. CASE A 33 year old

28. Shopping Networks And The Online Retail Community
Each day ,retailers face emerging risks that threaten the sustainability and profitability
of their companies. As shopping becomes more convenient for the average person
,the increase of online purchases increases in this digital age. Since social media,
shopping networks and the readiness of smart devices enable unsavory individuals to
take advantage of unsuspecting shoppers. Given this fact it is essential that retailers
rethink how they manage the riskto their enterprises. With the recent disclosures
about the enormous data breaches that occur within the online retail community it is
certain that a strong plan is needed by all companies. For example in 2014,Target,
Nieman Marcus, White Lodging, Sally Beauty, Michaels, Affinity Gaming (casinos),
UPS, Home Depot and even New York reported data breaches that involved the theft
of credit or debit card information of millions of consumers ( Hardekopf, 2015). One
of the first things that must be considered is the communication process because it is
where the breakdown first begins. Having strong polices that are followed to the letter
is the beginning of setting up a risk managementframework. This is especially true
when you consider that internal risk is growing as fast as external. There are three
categories that risk falls into as far as retail enterprises are concerned: hazard,
business and strategic. Each must be handled in its own unique way for it to be
effective within a risk management

What affect does listening to 5 minutes of soft calming music do to my heart rate?
Hypothesis
If I listen to soft calming music for 5 minutes, then my heart rate will slow 4 bpm.
Introduction
Heart rate is the most important part of an individual s health. In this lab I am
experimenting with different reactions of the heart. I am specifically looking at how
the heart rate of an individual is affected by meditation and calming music. The
purpose of this research is to determine if an individual with a higher heart rate,
possible due to stress, could possibly lower their heart rate. Heart rate is very
important and can be a major factor in other diseases or health issues. This research
is important for understanding the heart and how it functions. Many people suffer
from panic attacks and stress; both of these problems cause higher heart rate. With
this research we can possibly determine ways to treat and help people who suffer
from panic attacks and stress. It is also important to learn my about the muscle itself
and how it functions, what affects it, and how we can lower someone s heart rate.
The heart is a very important organ that needs to be taken care of, this research
could show us one way to take care of our hearts.
Research and Current Ideas So what do we already know about heart rate.

Kaylin Brooks English 1010 October 6, 2017 Nightmare On Elm Street Remake
VS. Original Me being a total horror movie fanatic and with the remake craze
taking the horror genre by storm, we all compare the remake to the original while
we re watching it. One of the most classic horror films of all time, Nightmare on
Elm Street, was originally made in 1984 and later got remade in 2010 after a slew
of sequels. When Nightmare on Elm Street got a remake, everyone at that time had
split decisions about the new movie. Me personally, I am not a big fan of remakes,
but since I am such a fan of scary movies, I went in with an open mind and actually
liked it a lot. I have seen this movie hundreds of time since the movie came out and

They made Freddy look more human as opposed to the original, where the makeup
was cartoonish and devilish. In the original Freddy was completely red. Freddy is
also known for the red and green striped sweater and razor glove. The sweater is
pretty much the same in both films, but the glove in the remake is much more
intricate, probably due to technology, in the remake. Even the sounds on the
gloves, when Freddy is rubbing his fingers together, are much sharper an realistic.
In the 1984 classic, Freddy was about psychologically attacking his victims. He
liked to play off of his victim s fears and when they went to sleep he would bring
their fears into their nightmares resulting to their demise. But in the remake,
Freddy would attack his victims physically and in their dreams, he would
constantly remind them of how he died causing them to develop insomnia. Also
making them have psychotic breakdowns and killing themselves. In both films,
Freddy Kruger preyed on the children of the parents that killed him. The parents
decided to kill him because they believed he was molesting their children while he
was working as a gardener at their children school. The parent burned him alive.
That storyline remained constant in both movies. His favorite target in both movies
was Nancy. There were some changes to Nancy in the remake, they changed her last
name from Thompson to Holbrook. In 1984 Nancy was played by Heather
Langenkamp and in 2010, Nancy was played by Rooney Mara.
31. Prohibition Of Marijuana, Heroin, And Other Drugs
It is also possible that drug users are irrational decision makers and might not
understand the adverse long term effects and addictive properties. Prohibition should
reduce demand through legal penalties; however, since not all drug users are rational
choice makers, demand can increase by creating a forbidden fruit effect. The
consequences of increased use add to the complexity and costs of enforcement on
both drugusers and the general population. Drug users, trying to avoid the legal
consequences of their use, often times interact with non users in ways that are
harmful and costly. Additionally, non users are also impacted by increased taxes to
pay for the enforcement, by regulations to check for drugs that take time and are
inconvenient, and by becoming innocent bystanders that can get caught in the middle
of attempted arrests, often with deadly affects.
The long federal experiment in prohibition of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and other
drugs has given us unprecedented crime and corruption combined with a manifest
failure to stop the use of drugs or reduce their availability to children. The factor that
determines the amount of violence created by prohibition is the level of enforcement.
There are two main reasons for this. One, black markets only form when the
enforcement is very strict and, two, increasingly strict enforcement leads to violence
both in making arrests and as competing suppliers seek to capture market share. The
violence not only impacts those

The Whore of Babylon woodcut by Albert Durer was one of fifteen woodcuts in
his famous series, The Apocalypse which was published in 1498. This woodcut
series portrays scenes from the book of Revelation in the bible, concerning the end
of the world. It was created at a time when Europe anticipated the Last Judgement ,
as Germany was experiencing plagues, religious debates, and peasant movements
towards the end of the 15th century. Durer became wealthy and rapidly well known
across Europe because of this series. He began working on these woodcuts on his

This is due to the use of a tool, a burin, to create extremely thin and subtle lines in an
engraving. The medium used for an engraving is metal and is created using an
intaglio method. Unlike the relief process of printmaking, this process is a positive
one. The artist scratches the image onto the metal plate, inks the surface of it, and
wipes it clean. As a result, ink is placed into the carved out drawing. Next, the plate
is run through a roller press which causes the ink to absorb to the paper. The
difference in appearance between a relief print and an intaglio print is because of
essentially drawing the image to be created onto the metal plate for an intaglio
print. Also cross hatching, the use of fine parallel lines to create the illusion of
shade, allowed for more subtle shading in the engraving. This engraving portrays
the melancholy personality of artists and Durer, himself. It is suggested that the
winged figure represents Durer because of the location of his monogram or logo
underneath the bench that figure is sitting on. Her pondering stance represents an
artistic genius who is looking for inspiration, but cannot find it, therefore
experiences despair in her/himself. The winged child sitting to the left of the
winged female, represents anxiety that the uninspired artist could be experiencing.
In addition, in the upper left corner, a bat is found with the words melencholia
beside it. The bat represents melancholy because it only appears or comes out at
night and is linked with the darkness. Durer contrasts melancholy and the light of
inspiration by associating this bat in the dark sky with rays of light. Essentially,
because of the wood medium used in the Whore Of Babylon, lines appear broader,
whereas using metal as a medium allowed the Melencollia engraving to display more
subtle lines and

35. Assess The Significance Of Three Factors Which Might
Limit...
Assess the significance of three factors which might limit economic development in
the developing countries.
Economic development can be defined generally as involving an improvement in
economic welfare, measured using a variety of indices, such as the Human
Development Index (HDI). A developing country is described as a nation with a
lower standard of living, underdeveloped industrial base, and a low HDI relative to
other countries. There are several factors which may have the effect of limiting
economic development in such countries. Factors such as these include: primary
product dependency, the savings gap and political instability. Primary product
dependency occurs where production of primary products accounts for a large
proportion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, countries such as Bolivia have nearly half the world s known reserves
of lithium. Given the subsidies being given to companies to develop electric cars
and the decline in oil production and falling oil prices, demand for lithium can be
expected to rise rapidly in the future which would greatly contribute to economic
development in Bolivia. Further to this, FDI has increased significantly in recent
years in countries dependent on primary products which have actually helped them to
grow and develop.
A further limiting factor on economic development in developing countries is the
savings gap. This factor can be explained by the Harrod Domar model which
illustrates the problem of how countries with a low GDP per head will experience
low savings ratios (savings as a proportion of GDP). This is because their marginal
propensity to consume (the proportion of any increase in income which is spent) will
be high. Low savings means that it will be difficult to finance investment and, with
low levels of investment, capital accumulation will be limited. This will then translate
into low output and GDP.
Harrod Domar model
In Africa for example, savings rates of around 17% of GDP compare to 31% on
average for middle income countries. Low savings rates and poorly developed or
malfunctioning financial markets make it more expensive for African public and
private sectors to get funds for investment as higher borrowing costs impede capital
investment. Moreover, in

Does being the eldest child make people highly intellectual, people pleasing,

dynamics of an individual s place in the family compared to that of their siblings.
Birth order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s
the very foundation of each one of our personalities, while others claim that the
margin of error is just too wide for these coincidental patterns to bear any meaning.

Another famous, or infamous, characteristic eldest tend to portray is that of
selfishness (Murphy). Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single
thing gives them their first dose of the selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first
time parent pampering love, and they are the first to experience the confusion that
accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to having to share
everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which
also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the
role of the mentor.
One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born
children. Middle children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling.
All too often do they get lost in the madness of the family dynamics and, in turn,
develop a competitive nature. They are eager for their parents approval and praise,
but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and their younger sibling
receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher and
student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too
old for the latitude given the last (Kluger).
Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the
molded stereotype of themselves. Their characteristics can be picked up on in a
matter of minutes in a conversation; there

39. The Purpose of Propaganda in Today s Society
Propaganda in today s society serves the same purpose as it did many years ago, and
that purpose is to promote a fitting solution to a problem or to sell an idea or item.
There are various types of propaganda in the world. The main way that propaganda
is advertised would be the media. Whether it be television, newspapers, radio etc . the
promoter advertiser will always find a way to promote their idea or product. You also
have seven basic sections or types of propaganda; transfer, testimonial, glittering
generalities, plain folks, bandwagon, name calling and card stacking. Each of these
is used in propaganda whether it is current and modern art forms such as Nikeв„ў
commercials or from 100 years ago in political cartoons. Each of the seven types of
propaganda differs and is unique in their its own way. Propaganda is, has always
been, and shall continue to be, a huge part of the advertising world of society.
Transfer is a type of propaganda in which the media utilizes a person or object that
people find good natured or intriguing, and they associate the person or object with
a product. In this form of propaganda, symbols are constantly being utilized. Most
political campaign promotion posters contain the transfer category. Some ads such
as icy hot and cleaning products use well known people or well known people s
names to promote their product. Take Shaquille O Neal s commercials for the Icy
Hot patches for example. People pay attention to the ad because they see that

complexity. The speaker of this poem is focused on birch trees, hoping that they

Wishing to go back in time to the days in which he himself would swing birchtrees,
the speaker contemplates more profound meanings of this swinging. A tendency
found in Frost s writing is an implementation of nature, often utilized as either the
focus of the work or just an auxiliary motif, resulting in quasi transcendental themes.
Being one of his most beloved works, Robert Frost s Birches is a poem which, upon
analysis of its complex use of poetic and literary devices, reveals a culmination of
distinct themes. Birches is a poem open to many themes and interpretations, some of
which only require the poem s most direct, nominal meaning. Others interpretations
require a more in depth, holistic approach, analyzing its structure and devices. Neither
of these approaches are more correct than the other. A holistic interpretation of this
work instills the motif of balance, putting forth the idea that life is a constant pursuit
to achieve balance between equal, yet opposite concepts. Another

pay adjustments, more assistance with healthcare coverage, and considering the

Because the sheriff s office employees are at will and there is a possibility of
termination with or without cause, recruitment suffers from qualified applicants, also
affecting long term retention. If the county implements a merit system, adjusts pay to
meet the competitive pay scale, the sheriff s office would attract and retain qualified
deputies.

business and trade. (iii) Store of value; People can store surplus purchasing power

quantity equation is the quantity of money (M) times the velocity of circulation of

So there will be an excess supply at initial price level P1. In order to adjust this
condition, people want to rid themselves of excess supply of money so they could
spend money or deposit it in a bank account and an injection of money increase the
demand for goods and serves. According to the quantity equation: M*V=P*Y, which
is long run theory. When the M (quantity of money) changes, V (the velocity of
circulation of money) and Y (the economy s output of goods and services) do not
change. The P (price level) must change to reflect the change in M. Hence, the price

Paper
What would happen if we had full freedom? What would need to happen to have
full freedom? Freedom means we are free and able to do whatever we desire. We
do have freedom as of now, but it is limited. We have rules and laws in place that
are meant to be followed. They are here to protect the well being of everyone and
thing. These laws are not necessarily bad but it just doesn t allow full freedom to
come forth. There are some laws that have been revoked because we realized they
were just plain wrong or it put too much restraint on freedom. The laws we have
are not perfect but we know and allow it because of the benefits. There are some
cons to the limits we put on ourselves but it s for our own good.
If we didn t have the laws we have today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We need to improve before we improve the world. Once we do that then we would
be able to properly work together for peace and freedom. To do this would mean
that other countries improved themselves too. When this finally happens and we
think we are good enough to work with each other we will try. As we try to work
together we realize we can t.
Why? Why can t we work together when we all bettered ourselves. The reason is
because we all improved on ourselves but we did in different ways. We improved in
our own beliefs and ideas. Nothing would have changed we would have our
freedom than has been bettered for us not for the entire world. The conflicts would
still be there just like before. The only thing we can do is accept that we will never
have peace between everybody.
The freedom we have is still limited by peace. That doesn t mean we should keep
things the same we still should improve ourselves for our future. We just need to
know everyone doesn t have the same attitude. When we mention freedom everyone
thinks of it differently. Our nation definition of freedom is different than others that
why we fight for it. We still fight for our limited freedom. It may be limited but it s
worth fighting for because we believe it the best for

47. Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
The transition of royalty from King Hamlet to King Claudius seemed smooth, but the
tension within the royal family created some complications. Almost all of Denmark
gave their loyalty to a new king without any suspicion as to how the previous ruler
died. Although Denmark s citizens are unaware of the fratricide, this fickle
faithfulness exemplifies the social and moral decay of Denmark. Most of Denmark s
subjects act upon their own selfish interests and lack any conviction. Shakespeare
uses Polonius, formerly a loyal servant to King Hamlet, as a microcosm of Denmark s
oblivious and hypocritical society as a whole. The Lord Chamberlain of Claudius s
court and the father of Laertes and Ophelia, Polonius has good intentions, but he

If he were a true Christian, he would not be pledging his allegiance to a murderer.
Moreover, Polonius places his own gain in front of his children s happiness.
Before his son Laertes leaves for France, Polonius gives him a long list of advice.
Although the guidance is helpful, it is filled with cliches which lessen the value
of his speech. Telling him to hold on to old friends and be slow to trust new ones,
Polonius says, Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried, grapple them unto
thy soul with hoops of steel; but do not dull thy palm with entertainment of each
new hatch d, unfledg d comrade (1.3.68 71). Ironically, Polonius himself is going
against his own principles by dutifully serving the new king and has practically
forgotten King Hamlet. Hypocritically, he later adds, This above all: to thine own
self be true (1.3.84). After Laertes has spent some time in France, Polonius reaches
out to his servant Reynaldo and asks him to ruin his son s reputation After what
seemed to be genuine fatherly instructions to Laertes on how to become a better
man, Polonius goes behind his back to slander against him. Hy slyly plots with
Reynaldo and tells him to breathe his faults so quaintly that they may seem the
taints of liberty, the flash and outbreak of a fiery mind, a savageness in unreclaimed
blood, of general assault (2.1.31 34). He hopes that Laertes will be so disliked that he
will be forced to return to Denmark.

At a young age, Kees s writing was heavily influenced by the Jazz Age, which
spanned during his childhood, and the Great Depression, which spanned during his
early adulthood. Upon graduating high school in 1931, he attended Doane College,
where he decided to become a novelist. Due to his career choice, he transferred to
the University of Missouri, which was known for its renowned writing course. After

49. What Is The Theme Of English By Yusef Komunyakaa
The poem English by Yusef Komunyakaa preoccupies itself with the persona s
perception of the situation where he was in when he first learned the English
language during war time, when he was still a young and naГЇve boy. The persona s
narration is recollective in nature, but there is an evident attempt to detach himself
from the experiences he had a long timeago. The first stanzaof the poem offers us
with descriptions of the temporal and spatial dimensions the boy was situated in
through the use of figures of speech, namely metaphor and metonymy. [S]ky began
burning is a metaphor for the bright explosions and burning debris viewed from
above, perhaps as a result of the ongoing war. On the other hand, the house can be
seen as a metonymy for the people inside it. By the comparing this house to the
birds in the eaves, the boy speaks of the house as a shelter or refuge for the people
affected by the war, just like how birds find protection in the lower border of a roof
overhanging a wall. Also, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By adding this phrase in the poem, the persona implies that whatever he is saying in
the poem is not his own. However, the lack of quotation marks and the repeated use
of the pronoun I in the poem implies that the persona owns whatever he is saying.
Therefore, the persona attempts to own and disown the experiences narrated in the
poem at the same time, a paradox. Yes, the persona is the boy. However, as he recalls
the time when he first learned English, he tries to separate himself from his
experiences during the war. The girl being shot in the last stanza, although the boy
wasn t physically present, is indicative of a turning point in the boy s life it ruined
the innocence of the boy. And in the poem, this turning point is symbolized by way of
the persona s detachment to what he is narrating; to his former

51. Why Did African Americans Resist Slavery
Another great part of the African culture that was brought to America and kept in
practice through African American slaves was religion. An article titled Slave
Resistance and Rhetorical Self Definition: Spirituals as a Strategy states that African
American slaves used their spirituals to provide themselves with a rhetorical self
definition that served to refute limiting definitions pressed on them by whites (
Sanger 1) Religionallowed Africans and African Americans to not only preserve
something that was a part of their culture, but also allowed them to have hope and
believe in something outside of the constraints that their white masters gave them.
Without their masters knowing, slaves could get together and discuss liberty and the
judgement of God against people being allowed to own slaves. According to this same

An article titled How Did Slaves Resist Slavery by author Lisa Vox explains that
some slaves would runaway temporarily while others would runaway permanently.
The slaves that would run away for a short period of time would hide in forests or
go see a spouse on another plantation. The slaves that would runaway permanently
believed that if they followed the North Star it would lead them to freedom. The
article also states that slaves would runaway to escape a harsh punishment that had
been threatened, to obtain relief from a heavy workload, or just to escape the
drudgery of everyday life under slavery (Vox 2) I can imagine that runaway took a
great deal of bravery for the slaves. Possibly having to leave their families or even
the possibility of them getting caught could lead them to extremely harsh
punishments or even to their death bed. It is very admirable the depths that they
would take to stand up for themselves and go against their masters in search for their
