In his work Stradano creates fantastical and mythical depictions of what the new world would look
like. In a way I think this is really refreshing, because despite all of Burgkmair s efforts, he would
always be playing a game of telephone, receiving his information second hand rather than grasping it
with his own eyes. This in turn make his efforts a bit futile since they are not exactly scientific in their
rendition. It is because of this that I find Stradano s approach so delightful, he did not pretend to know
what the new world looked like, or how the people of that world acted or looked like. Instead he made
illustrations that described a great deal of how the people of Europe felt about the discovery of the
new world, as a placed filled with wonder and pleasure that was almost mystical to them. Instead of
comparing the savage/civilized, he concentrated on depicting the discovery of the americas as an
idealized mythical endeavor, equating it to something like birth of Venus or the Fall of Adam and Eve.

Acidic collagen type I (CosmoBio) at 5 mg/mL concentration and pH 3 was used. Specified volumes
of collagen solution were dispensed into plastic molds maintained at 4°C. In a closed chamber,
