1. Picture Of Dorian Gray Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" can be both intriguing and
challenging. On one hand, the novel by Oscar Wilde offers a rich tapestry of themes, characters,
and literary devices to explore, providing ample material for analysis. On the other hand, the
depth and complexity of the narrative may pose a challenge for writers aiming to distill its
essence into a coherent and insightful essay.
The novel delves into various themes such as the nature of beauty, the consequences of moral
decadence, and the relationship between art and life. Crafting an essay on "The Picture of
Dorian Gray" requires a keen understanding of these themes and the ability to connect them to
specific passages or characters within the text. Analyzing Wilde's use of symbolism, the
implications of the Faustian bargain, and the exploration of the duality of human nature adds an
additional layer of complexity to the task.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in presenting a fresh perspective or interpretation that goes
beyond surface-level analysis. Wilde's wit and satirical commentary require a nuanced approach
to appreciate the subtleties embedded in the text. Writers must navigate the intricate narrative
structure and character development to unveil the underlying philosophical questions posed by
the author.
In essence, tackling an essay on "The Picture of Dorian Gray" demands a combination of literary
insight, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate ideas effectively. It requires the writer to
engage deeply with the novel, discerning the layers of meaning beneath the surface. Crafting a
compelling essay involves not only summarizing the plot but also exploring the nuances of
Wilde's language, the historical context, and the cultural implications of the work.

2. Essay On Perspective Of The Source
The perspective of the source is one of that can really fluctuate based on beliefs and
cultures that have been brought up by an individual. The idea based on the source all
depends on the circumstances that it is in. In some situations it will bring good
things but in other s, it will bring nothing but harm. All countries being able to be
unrestricted and free to pursue it s own goals can bring wealth and strengthen a
countryin all the good ways. However when this becomes to readily available to
countries that are already well off, it can cause a hunger for power and greediness
which will then avoid the whole purpose about what giving a country the freedom to
grow and better itself without restrictions. If two countries benefit from this... Show

In Addition to this Great Brittan had no harm done to it and actually had gained
another ally to themselves, which is a good thing for a country to have. Breaking
away from Great Brittan allowed Canada to grow with lots of people and diversity,
which allowed for a different culture and atmosphere for the country. Canada
breaking away from Great Brittan is a huge part of our history and culture still
today, and we have very many British features to our country like the Royal Family,
the queen is still all over our currency. This type of National Interest is one that
caused nothing but good for both countries involved and is an example of this sort of
National Interest working.
Another perspective that had a good outcome is Canada being involved with the
War in Afghanistan. Canada was able to extend its hand and help Afghanistan in a
time of crisis. Afghanistan is a very poor country and has very harsh weather
conditions. In order to help Canada served in the Afghanistan Theater of operations.
This allowed general living standards for Afghanistan citizens, and helped some
parts of the country out of extreme poverty. This National Interest is one that helped
to benefit one country and the other country involved didn t loose anything in terms
of it s countries well being, however they did loose lots of soldiers which causes a lot
of grief to many families.

Microcontroller and Sensors Based Gesture Vocalizer
Abstract: Gesture Vocalizer is a large scale multi microcontroller based system being
designed to facilitate the Communication among the dumb, deaf and blind
communities and their communication with the normal people. This system can be
dynamically reconfigured to work as a smart device . In this paper, microcontroller
and sensors based gesture vocalizer is presented. Gesture vocalizer discussed is
basically a data glove and a microcontroller based system. Data glove can detect
almost all the movements of a hand and microcontroller based system converts some
specified movements into human recognizable voice. The data glove is equipped

There is a technical issue at this stage of the project that is if we convert the analog
output of the accelerometer, which ranges from 1.5 volts to 3.5 volts to a digital 8
bit output the systems become very sensitive. Reason is division of 2 volts range
into 256 (28 = 256) steps is much more sensitive than converting 5 volts range into
256 steps. Now the question arises, why do we need a less sensitive system, the
answer if a more sensitive system is used then there is a huge change in the digital
output with the very little tilt of the hand, which is difficult to be handled.
[pic]
Fig. 3: Amplification and Attenuation Circuitry
Solution to this problem is to increase the range of the output of the accelerometer by
using an additional circuitry. This additional circuitry increases the range of the
accelerometer from 2 volts range to 5volts range. The circuitry shown in Fig.3 is used
for theamplification and attenuation purposes. Amplification means amplification of
upper range i.e. 3.5 volts to the 5 volts, and the attenuation means the attenuation of
lower range i.e. 1.5 volts to 0 volts.
3.2 Tilt Detection
The basic function of this module is to detect the tilting of the hand and sending some
binary data against meaningful gestures, to the bend detection module. The output,
which is obtained from the accelerometers after amplification, is an analog output. To
deal with this analog output, and to make it useful for the further use, it is required to

After running both CMC and ROC Race on Saturday in Brooklyn NY, I jumped
back in my Prius and drove over 250 miles to Pennsylvania to run the Extreme
version of the Hardcore Mudd Run course. Registration and Festival: HMR ran
both Saturday and Sunday, so turnout on Sunday was lower and registration was
fast and easy. The festival area was set up well with a band for the several live
bands that played for days. Pre race MC: HMR didn t have an actual MC per say,
but the local Fire Department came and provided a very beautiful and emotional
memorial service for all those lost on September 11th. The Course: The course
offered three versions, the Sprint, the Ultra, and the Extreme versions. I opted to
run the Extreme because it was the longest distance and offered the most obstacles.
I researched the obstacles and course prior to deciding to run HRM, but I had no
idea how much of the course was going to be spent going both up and down the
Tussey Ski Mountain. According to my GPS watch, the Extreme version of the
course was just over 7.7 miles in total distance, but as noted, it was the ascents up the

The course also had a hard crawl obstacle that I have never seen before called
Hands and Knees, which was a crawl under three sections of very heavy chain link

because it required team work to crawl under all three sections of chain link fence.
In addition to the mountain, obstacles, the course also included a section of very
technical trails to climb both down and back up, this section of course had a lot of
ankle bitters/breakers so I took my time working through it. The course included a
sandbag carry, which went up a decent distance of the mountain and back

This decision increased SNC s EBIT by approximately 200,000. Although SNC s
sales and EBIT figures increased, their net working capital and profit margins will
remain at current figures. Additionally, acquiring Atlantic Wellness as a client will
help increase SNC s sales significantly but will sacrifice portions of inventory and
accounts receivable. Because of their current cash position SNC must keep a
minimum of $3 on hand to meet their company s operational needs therefore
sacrificing portions of inventory and accounts receivable may not be a good idea.
However, there is a positive for SNC. The risk of inventory and accounts receivable
can be equalized by negotiating a profitable deal with merchant Ayurveda Natural.

the European warriors and the samurai were the Japanese warriors. Although they
are both warriors their codes and the way of preparing for battle were different. The
similarities may look like they are great but there are small specific differences
between the knights and samurai. First let s talk about the codes of the two. The
samurai s code was the Bushido (Doc. E). The knights code was the code of chivalry

spongy pads to take the strain off the leg, so they aren t constantly breaking bones in
their legs. Also, the feet of the elephant make it almost impossible for you to hear
them when they run, but when their is a herd you can definitely feel the earth shake

8. Spanish In Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea is a nation on the central coast of sub Saharan Africa. It was
formerly known as Spanish Guinea when it was under Spanish colonial control until
the nation gained its independence on October 12, 1968. Spain was the colonial
ruler for over two hundred years. The official languages of Equatorial Guineaare
Spanish and French. However, only a small percentage of the population actually
speak these languages. Most people speak the languages of their tribes, such as
Fang, Bubi, or Ibo. Some might assume that Guinean Spanish would have similar
characteristics commonly attributed to Afro Hispanic languages. However, Spanish
in Equatorial Guinea has no real presence with the general public because of its
minimal usage. Spanish is mostly used as a political symbol by privileged elites to
show higher social status (Lipski). Greetings between people are generally lengthy
interactions. People stand close together when speaking with each other, and often
touch or hold hands (Stanford). Unlike in the United States where direct eye contact
is expected regardless of who you are speaking with; Equatorial Guineans reserve eye
contact for established acquaintances and friends. Elders should not be subjected to
direct eye contact unless a firm relationship has been previously established (Society
and Culture). Like many other African nations, Equatorial Guinea has a number of
different ethnic groups with their own distinctive languages. In the capital of Malabo,

9. Green Children By Samuel Foust
The Green Children of Woolpit There have been many legends and myths told
throughout history. There are so many different versions and theories of these
stories that have been formed by one s opinions of what they think happened.
There are usually no hard facts to prove details of these events, or if they even
occurred. One of these stories is the green children of woolpit. There are many
different opinions and theories about it. Although there are many accounts of this
story, they are all pretty similar in telling the same story. It starts with two children,
a girl and a boy, with green tinted skin who had wondered to the village of Woolpit
speaking a foreign language. The boy eventually died when he and his sister became
ill, but the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument that Foust presents is The reason I believe they are aliens is their
green skin and the language they spoke was all unknown and mysterious to us
humans. Also, the place filled with perpetual twilight is not a place that is on
Earth (Foust n.p.). Even though I do not agree with this theory, it is sensible as to
why one would believe this. Without being presented with the facts of the matter, it
could seem as if there would be no other explanation other than aliens. However,
the green skin is easily explained by illness. The language the children might have
seemed strange to the villagers of woolpit, but they could have just been speaking
Dutch, which is the language that most Flemish people speak. Since the children
were Flemish fleeing from their hometown, they most likely used underground
passages and even maybe sewer holes, it is possible the children could have
mistaken the places they traveled as being in perpetual twilight. In Foust s essay
Green Children Are Aliens , he presents the logical fallacy, Hasty Generalization,
which means the author jumps to conclusions based on little evidence. This logical
fallacy is used when Foust says The reason I believe they are aliens is their green
skin and the language they spoke was all unknown and mysterious to us humans.
Foust provides little evidence to prove his theory that the children were aliens, the
only evidence he provides is they had green skin and spoke a language the villagers
could not understand. There are so many possibilities of what the green skin could
have been caused by such as: arsenic poisoning, hypochromic anemia,
malnourishment, etc. Just because they had green skin does not mean they were
aliens. Also, the language the children spoke may have been just strange to the
villagers of Woolpit, chances are they were speaking Dutch. Dutch is the common

The customer is always right! And this is no different in my opinion, without
customers there are no sales and no Lululemon. However, the strategy of engaging
with the customers of their products by being knowledgeable of their products in
store, customer demands are met. New products innovation, keeps Lululemon
customers coming back and purchasing the high quality products. Lululemon even
offers to hem to length of the pants you purchase at no additional cost, and they ll
ship it to you! Customers satisfied.
The substitutes for Lululemon customers are knock off yoga pants that do not last,
are not as comfortable and not durable; or not to do yoga! Even consumers who want
to purchase Lululemon products, but cannot afford it, don t purchase the products.

athletic strategy and offer their product of similar quality and price but at that price,
why not just buy
11. Usage Of The Word At Times And At The Right Time
For any writer there are times that we can t choose the right word at times and at
the last second we choose a word that seems right but it s in the wrong context. As a
result, it leaves a wrong meaning to what we are writing. Well the problem is the
usage of the exact words at the right time. The usage of the exact words helps the
writerchoose from a variety of words that help clarify or state the writer s true
meaning of his or her writing. Exact words come in many different forms to help the
writer from narrowing down specific words to the careful usage of figure of
speech. Writers can use exact words to better state their reasoning of what they are
writing. However, there are some writers that don t know the application of exact
words and the reason to use it. So to narrow it down to people, they need to know
what is an exactly is a exact word, the uses of it and the misusage of it.
First, for people to know what is an exact word is they need to know the definition
of it to make sense. Diana Hacker and Nancy Sommers define it as Dictionary
meaning, words have connotations, emotional coloring that affect how reader
respond to them. (171). Meaning that it s way for writers to find alternate word
choice, so the reader can reflect on them. As well as leaving the reader to
emotionally attached to the text so they can relate to the writer. Exact words also
have another use in writing. They can be used to narrow down prefer specific,
concrete nouns to state the
12. Female’s Impact on Politics in The Aeneid by Virgil
In the opening books of the Aeneid, Virgil presents many different characters that
play important roles and have influences on Aeneas s journey. This includes not only
mortal men and women, but also Gods and Goddesses. Throughout the plot, Virgil
constantly addresses political issues through the actions of the characters. Of these
characters, the female figures are often portrayed in a negative way. For example,
they tend to act emotionally and in a way contrary to knowledge. This implies that
women s participation in politics may lead to negative consequences. Virgil shows
women s negative impact on politics by examining their unfavorable characteristics,
such as irrationality, impulsive behaviors, and the selfish desires that often... Show

Although Juno already knows about Aeneas s fate and that it is determined for him to
find Rome regardless of anyone s involvement, she still continues with her childish
actions and irrationally tries to stop his fate even though she knows she cannot
change the end result. For example, she sends the goddess Iris to stir up discontent
among the Trojan women, who are tired of traveling and would like to settle
permanently in Drepanum because her old resentment still unsatisfied (Book V,
line 801 802). By constantly delaying the Trojans journey, she hopes that they will
not to be able to get to their destination. Virgil portrays Juno as an impulsive, fickle,
and selfish character who acts irrationally and by her selfish desires. She acts
contrary to her knowledge and takes her grudge against Troy upon Aeneas. By
displaying her negative characteristics, Virgil tells the audience that women should
not be involved in politics because they act emotionally and see their own desires as
priorities. A leader who acts impulsively and does not care about the consequences of
his or her actions can have a tremendously negative effect on the nation. Similarly,
Goddess Venus, who is also the mother of Aeneas, behaves just like Juno. Although
her actions are all intended to aid
Aeneas and his journey, she does not think rationally.
13. Meaning Of Newspeak In 1984
as seen above, one could manage to say that the term doublespeak was coined in
the early 1950s and appeared for the first time in the novel 1984, by George
Orwell, under another name called newspeak. In the book George Orwell invented
newspeak as the official language of Oceania (the fictional country ruled by an
authoritarian regime) and had been designed to meet the ideological needs of Ingsoc
or English Socialism. He creates this fictional language to show what would happen
if doublespeaking would dominate every aspect of human life, and how it would
gradually degrades it. The purpose of newspeakas described in the book was not only
to provide a medium expression for the world view and mental habits proper to the
devotees of Ingsoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible. ( Orwell
1984, page 107 ). A good example could be the word free, which still existed in
newspeak, in sentences like: This dog is free from lice or This field is free from
weeds in which its old sense of politically free or intellectually free could not be
used. By limiting the number of words in the dictionary this affected the way people
perceived the world. Newspeak words were divided into... Show more content on

far, a Newspeak word of this category was simply a disconnected/ duplicated word

was to express simple, purposive thoughts, which sometimes involves concrete

14. Wave Interactions
Wave Interactions
Wave interactions include reflection, refraction, diffraction, and interference. Wave
interactions occur when a wave hits something and it either reflects, refracts,
diffracts, or there is an interference. Many different types of waves can be involved in
wave interactions including sound, light, surface, etc.
Reflection occurs when a particular wave, or waves, bounce, or reflect back from an
object through which they cannot pass. An echo is a good example of a reflection
wave interaction, but reflection can occur with other types of waves, too. Light
waves can be reflected too. A light source, such as a light bulb or the sun, gives
light to an object. That object reflects some of the light, and when the light that has
been reflected hits one s eye, he or she could see the object. When waves hit an
object, they reflect back in the same direction. Waves that are reflected have the
same speed and frequency as the original wave, so only their direction is changed.
On the other hand, when waves hit an object at an angle, they bounce at the same
degree of angle, but in a different direction (CK 12 Foundation, 2017).
The bending of waves as they pass from one form of matter to another is refraction.
When light travels from an object to one s eyes, it makes the object seem to be in a
different location. As waves access a new medium. they travel at a different rate in
the alternative medium. For instance, light waves travel at a lower rate in water than
in air. The

The Economics of the NFL BY: TY TAYLOR While growing up in the state of
Texas I was introduced to National Football League (NFL) at a very young age.
Not only was I obsessed with great players like Emmitt Smith and Michael Irving, I
had a more finical appreciation for the lucrativeness associated with the NFL. My
young adulthood as well as my teenage years was spent playing and learning
football with the aspirations of hopefully making it to the NFL. Unfortunately, my
playing days ended with tryouts at Texas Tech University, but my love for the
game has remained stagnant over the years even till this day. The NFL today is
Americas most watched sports league and has taken the crown as the most
lucrative and unique economic force in sports. Forbes offered approximations
stating that on average, the NFL generates more than $6 9 billion a year in
revenues alone. A third of the individual franchises in the league were appraised at
over more than $1 billion while the other franchises average nine figures or higher.
The NFL as an organization generates its revenues through a multitude of ways
ranging from huge television contracts, in stadium ticket sales, advertising ads paid
for by sponsors and merchandise. Their business model unlike most other leagues, is
centered on a hard salary cap on player contracts which provides cost certainty with
its sponsors. In this paper, I will examine the economic and historical narrative
associated with the growth of the NFL s
16. How Did Woodrow Wilson s 14 Point Plan
President Woodrow Wilson addressed Congress with a proposed 14 point plan
before the end of World War I. The President did not want to fight in the war only
to protect England and France, instead he wanted to end all wars. These fourteen
points were made specifically to provide peace that would last forever and prevent
another World War from happening. Wilson plan was to create peace throughout the
world with his fourteen point system; however, after discussing with the other
Allied powers it became evident that his 14 point plan would not be put into action
without a lot of compromising. The allied powers did not agree with Wilson s
idealism of world peace. British Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, French
Premier, George Clemenceau and US President, Woodrow Wilson, also known as the

Germany, but his nation did. So, he agreed for a harsh treaty because he was afraid of
causing another war in the future. Ultimately, all the nations associated with this

differently in the war; therefor, their desires were dictated by the extent of their
suffering. Ultimately, the Treaty of Versailleswas created to make Germany
obligated to pay for the damage they caused in the war, give up their colonies and
its armed forces. The treaty also abolished Germany s air forces and practically
redrew the map of Europe. This peace treaty was biased against Germany and caused

17. Witchcraft And The Inquisition
A common Basque saying goes, before God was God and boulders were boulders,
Basques were already Basques. This saying highlights the Basque s enduring
inhabitance in the mountains between Spain and France. The existence in the
Pyrenees is remarkable considering the population s repeated persecution. The
bombing of Guernica is one of the most notorious instances of Basquepersecution,
which was Pablo Picasso s inspiration for arguably his most recognizable painting,
Guernica. Another period of persecution in the Basque region was the Inquisition
during the early seventeenth century. Pierre de Lancre initiated the Inquisition on the
French side in 1609, which swiftly spread to LogroГ±o, a region on the Spanish side,
by 1610. The Inquisition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in 1631 Friedrich Spee, published criticism of the persecution in
Germany after being confessor of the witches sentenced to death. Spee wrote about
a woman named Gaia who was accused of witchcraft and subject to torture. For not
only is there in general no door for her escape, but she (Gaia) is also compelled to
accuse others, of who she knows no ill, and whose names are not seldom suggested
to her by her examiners or by the executioner, or of whom she has heard as
suspected or accused or already once arrested and released. These in their turn are
forced to accuse others, and these still others, and so it goes on: who can help seeing
that it must go on without end. Spee s account echoed the idea associated with
communal witchcraft of being the accused and then the accuser; the concern was not
specific to the Basque
18. Fostering English Mastery within a Linguistically Diverse...
Linguistic diversity has become a divisive issue in the American political landscape.
As Wolfram points out, the politics of linguistics necessitates a knowledgeable
response rooted in research and pedagogical practice. When addressing the needs of a
linguistically diverse population, it becomes crucial to examine the ways that
educationis failing to help students acquire languagemastery and also failing to train
teachers properly in English language instruction. A prevailing research question is as
follows: what are the best ways to foster English mastery within a linguistically
diverse cultural landscape?
Research shows almost universally that linguistic diversity is a desirable scenario,
rather than a detriment to learning. Moreover, the goal of education is far from being
the creation of a homogeneous society. Education has many different goals, which
will differ according to the individual needs and desires of students. However,
students do need to learn how to thrive in an increasingly heterogeneous society.
Academic, social, psychosocial and financial success hinges not just on the mastery
of proper English but also on the mastery of cultural sensitivity.
A review of literature highlights some of the core issues at stake with regards to the
questions of how to best foster English mastery within a linguistically diverse society.
Wolfram advocates an examination of linguistic scholarship, referring to the myriad
of uninformed opinions that abound among
19. The Privacy Of The Hipaa Privacy Laws
The Right to Keep It Hidden
Everyone hides behind a mask of what they want others to know, but when that mask
is removed, the private information nobody wants leaked spills out. Until 2003, there
was no mask protecting the confidentiality of peoples most private information, their
private medical history. Before this time, patients had no right to protect their medical
information, and no control over who could access it. The HIPAA PrivacyRule
locked away the once open book of patients medical information in a safe solely
controlled by the patient. This federal law, created by the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services, became the first federal healthcare information privacy law , and
addresses patients rights pertaining to their medical information (Solove 5). In order
for patients to continue to have medical privacy and control over their medical
records, the HIPAA Privacy Rule needs to remain a strongly enforced federal law.
The HIPAA Privacy Rule allows patients to be the dominant controller of their
personal medical information by giving them the choice to limit the accessibility of
their medical record to others, and the opportunity to obtain their medical record at
any time (Solove 1). By giving the patient access to his or her personal medical
record, he or she is able to become aware of what information is inside. This gives
the patient the opportunity to address a mistake in the medical information with his
or her doctor. If the doctor disagrees with the

Hackers: Control and Property The ethical issues surrounding hacking, stem from
several sources mainly dealing with order and control, and information ownership.
What is difficult to decipher from all the media hoopla surrounding the terms,
hacker and hacking is both the simultaneous sensationalism and the condemnation
of said activities. Of course just recently, even a movie was made and was
appropriately called Hackers. The term and all that it implies has truly entered our
popular consciousness when Hollywood has made a box office movie on it. As the

Hackers , on the other hand probably view the system more abstractly, as a resource
waiting to be used at the end of a telephone line, a challenge beckoning them,
calling to them irresistibly, whispering to them, There will be no damage done and
no one will be the wiser. On either side of this debate is the concept of free
information. What is information anyway? Can it really be free? The Internet is a
complex series of systems of information in which the circulation and distribution of
these systems can create even more complex institutional relationships among the
systems. Information, in and of itself should be available to anyone, in theory. Yet
there is the other side, in which a terrorist can hack into the U.S. Defense
Department or NASA databases and start a nuclear war. There must be some middle
ground that can be reached in which the ideal of free information and the protection
of property rights can coexist in harmony. What solution we have so far can only be
to protect

intentions to write the moral history of Dublin s paralysis. Although paralysis
seems to be the main theme in Dubliners, another motif comes across in the pages
of the stories. As if all of the mental, physical, and emotional problems weren t
enough, many of the characters in Dubliners are alcoholics. Joyce utilizes the
character of the drunk in many of the stories in Dubliners; hardly a story skips a
mention of a drink. The negative effects of alcohol occur again and again through
the collection of stories. For the most part, men are brought down by their addiction
to alcohol and their inability to control themselves when they are drunk. In
Dubliners, the characters seek their own desires, face obstacles that frustrate them,
and ultimately give in to their need to consume alcohol. With Dubliners, James
Joyce brings attention to the different issues that consuming alcohol caused in
early 20th century Ireland using three particular stories; Counterparts , Grace and
Ivy Day in the Committee Room .James Joyce was born in the late 1800s in
Dublin, Ireland. Joyce came from a big family; he was the eldest of ten children. It
is known that Joyce was not raised in a stable household. His father, John, was a
known alcoholic and his family did not have much money due to his father s constant
spending. Despite the family s continuous financial instability, however, Joyce s
father was aware of his son

My group chose to do an advertisement for dust masks. In our project, the money
was used for the creation of the advertisement. We all agreed upon making an ad
because we were all good at acting and we were all very creative. The purpose of
our ad was to persuade people in the North to donate money to the American Red
Cross to buy more dust masks. The dust masks would be given to children to prevent
dust pneumonia. With the new rise of technology, people went out to see movies.
Before the movie, there was always advertisements. Since advertisements were
becoming popular in that time, my group decided to make an advertisement in hope
that more people would become aware of the Dust Bowl before watching the movie.

Evaluating Good Literature
The Percy Jackson series has been a very well written novel and a New York

women and created half bloods. During the summer time, these half human people
will attend to a camp named Camp Half Blood. While attending camp, Percy and
all of his friends draw closer together and are able to train using their given powers.
The Lightning Thief is about Percy first year of attending the camp was; he had no

Exorcisms is the religious or spiritual practice of purportedly evicting demons or
other spiritual entities from a person or an area they are believed to have possessed,
by definition. However, is there an actual demonic possession to one entity, or rather
is it a mental condition? Exorcisms has been the more popular choice lately in the
U.S, and is thriving with the millennium; not to mention, amateur exorcisms are
linked to deaths of their belief needing to exorcise a demon physically (Listverse).

childishly simple from the writings of skeptic Joe Nickell. In addition, the author
Mark Opsasnick explained that he proposed that the boy who under under the

threw deliberate tantrums to get attention or to get out of school. Roland Doe was a
thirteen year old boy, he was diagnosed to be possessed by the devil. After having fun

25. Compare and Contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI
Essay
I would like to compare/contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI. During his
first year in office, Pope Francis has become one of the world s greatest social
innovators. Many have celebrated Pope Francis as a spiritual leader, diplomat, and a
politician. Pope Francis is a leader to start something new by launching a global
campaign against hunger. Using social media, such as YouTube, Pope
Francis sent his
message out to elect a day, December 10th, for a world wide rally. Additionally,
Pope Francis is known for sending out tweets @Pontifex. By the use of social media,
the Pope has captured attention all across the globe. Take for instance the time Pope

Sometimes the things that have been forgotten can be viewed as new by reminding
us of what is important (Watson, 2013). Pope Francis actions reflect a social
innovator and some may call intrapreneur (Dearing, 2014). The definition of
intrapreneur is a person within a large corporation who takes direct responsibility for
turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk taking and
innovation (Pinchot, 2010).
Pope Benedict business goals
As of January 20, 2013 Pope Benedict has 12,739 followers on Twitter.
In his 2009 encyclical, Pope Benedict XVI conveys issue about the international
economic system and its overemphasis on benefit at the price of individual and group
needs. Without question, one of the biggest threats for companies is that they are
almost specifically responsible to their traders, thereby restricting their public value.
The pope s solution to this situation is not only government control of companies, but
the development of new business designs where human and group results are
regarded an integral aspect of the main point here. In many ways, he explains
substitute companies that are aspect of the quickly growing solidarity economic
system.

26. War On Poverty Analysis
The United States is known as the wealthiest country on the planet, yet they are
many poor people in this country that cannot afford to buy healthy food. While
nutrition is a vital element of a healthy lifestyle, nutritious food is not equally
available to all. This inequality is of great significance because increase in rates of
obesity and related chronic diseases may be linked with poor diets, such as
diabetes and heart disease are a major public concern. Moreover, there is evidence
in literature that healthy diet greatly reduces the chances of some diseases and
medical conditions that can shorten or lower quality of life. A primary concern is
that some poor or rural areas do not have access to supermarkets, grocery stores, or

Department of Agriculture in 2005 showed that 5.1 percent of all U.S did not
have the food they wanted or needed because of access related problems. Access to
healthy foods includes not just proximity to retail locations that offers these types
of foods but also the variety, cost, and the quality of foods (U.S Department of
Agriculture). Accessing healthy food is a challenge for many Americans
particularly those living in a low income neighborhood. In hundreds of
neighborhoods across the country, nutritious, affordable, and high quality food is
out of reach. Research shows that people in low income communities walk outside
their door to find no grocery store, farmers markets or other source of fresh foods.
Instead they are bombarded by fast foods and convenience stores selling high fat,
high sugar, and process foods. (Helmers and Dave 45 67). The U.S Department of

Despite its refusal to be involved in the issue in 1877, the policy of the

In 1895, Grover Cleveland, who was then serving a second

supervisor is an air traffic tower chief or an air traffic tower shift leader overseeing
the operations in the tower. As an air traffic controller on position gets their
weather information from a computer, a supervisor may notice that the weather
report is not consistent with tower visibility and decide to change the weather
being reported by the automated system. Another example of a supervisor is a
pilot flying and aircraft on autopilot. The pilot in command of an aircraft is directly
responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft (FAA,
2014). In the event that an error occurs during autopilot, the pilot is required to
take over the controls and fix the problem. Human performance under supervisory
control is often poor because of the limited task load placed on operators under
normal conditions (Endsley, 1995). Due to reduced control involvement of the
pilot, the consequences can be a loss of situational awareness and a decay of direct
control skills, which are critical for any midair recovery. Figure 2 below shows
how automation can affect situational awareness. Figure 2. Situational Awareness

29. What Is The Dichotomy Between African Music And Dance
African music and dance invited me to take a thrilling journey this past semester. A
journey from surprise to skepticism, then from acceptance to appreciation. From the
beginning of the semester up till now, the way I have looked at African music and
dance has changed and changed, with characteristics varying and twisting about,
occasional nuances becoming essential features, and music and danceeventually
becoming inseparable. This new understanding that I have of such a deep rooted yet
underestimated subject in American history and culture has truly prompted me to
look at all types of music and dance from a new angle. But despite all that I ve

When the music reaches it s peak, it dies down to emphasize the lyrics of what could
be considered the chorus, Kuti s mocking soldier commands, and the men begin to act
out those lyrics through dance. After two iterations of the chorus and a brief
intermission, the music picks up again and the women join in. For the remainder of
the work, dancers are engulfed into a vivacious, free willed routine all the while
mocking the movements and conduct of the not so vivacious zombie soldiers. After
watching this performance several times, it was this dichotomy between free will and
submission that stuck out to me most.
Moving on to the purpose of this paper, there are a few particular aesthetic senses of
African music and dance that appeared more up front to me in this work. Polyrhythm,
which refers to the ability to maintain two different beats two different rhythms
simultaneously, was apparent to me when paying attention to the different ways that
the men and women were respectively dancing throughout the work. While the men
showcased a lot of quick and rigid movements like the plantation dance hop step, the
women seemed to focus more on less distinct, fluid movements that continuously
bridged into one another. To me, the significance of all this is that as dancers
maintain two rhythms simultaneously, the focus is no longer whether their
movements are

Deep Brain Stimulation
Presently, deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery predominates the field as the
premier surgical intervention for the treatment of advanced PD. It is most ideal for
those PD patients whose disease has insufficient or sporadic responses to medication.
This technique involves the insertion of permanent electrodes into a specifically
targeted region of the brain and continuous administration of high frequency of
electrical stimulation. Currently, no evidence exists that suggests a specific target for
DBS surgery may be more beneficial; there was no marked difference in motor
improvement between patients who underwent GPi directed DBS ... Show more

Further studies have identified a decline in verbal fluency and Stroop test
performance after DBS surgery; however, these results were unassociated with
psychiatric changes (Witt et al., 2008). Decline in verbal fluency has been attributed
to surgical electrode implantation, not to DBS itself (Okun, 2012). Additional
neuropsychological effects have been observed after DBS surgery, such as
impulsivity, mania, anxiety, and suicidal ideation (Okun, 2012). Suicide was the most
common post operative cause of mortality in a study of 5,000 patients who underwent
subthalamic nucleus DBS; therefore it is essential to assess patients before and after
the procedure to treat and prevent any of these anomalies (Aarsland,

32. Sam Walton s Profile Analysis
Out of the three profiles, I enjoyed reading Sam Walton s profile. This profile was
easier to read compared to the other profiles because it suited well to our 21st
century. Everyone in America is always on the lookout to find great deals for their
grocery items at a low cost. Sam understood the struggles of Americans, therefore he
was able to create a store that Americans were able to buy all your grocery and other
miscellaneous items at one convenience store. Sam was so cheap that he decided to
name the store name with the fewest letters as possible, Walmart. Walmart is known
for their cheap prices and that is what consumers love. With over thousands of Wal
Mart s in the United States, Sam quickly became one of the richest Americans.

This was one of his main messages to his audience. Due to the author writing how

However, I did realize that in the profile he incorporated his views of Sam as a
person and Walmart. For example, the author criticized about Walmart selling low
quality items to their consumers. Despite his opinion, I believe the author did a
great job of convincing the audience what kind of person Sam is. Therefore, I
believe for the most part the profile was accurate to the point where it felt like the
author wanted to manipulate the audience minds into believing what he says
about Sam Walton. After reading this profile, I need to take account of articles I
read off of social media because it is easy for a journalist to provide false
information about a particular subject that can change a person s view on things. At
times, I will come across articles that are intriguing to me that I make myself
believe what the article says. The only way people, including myself, are able to
find the truth in news is to read off of credible

The first tool to compensate demand fluctuation is building inventory as given in the

products for long time intervals in inventory could lead them to hold outdated
products which can be though both quantitative and qualitative trade off. Considering
that these aspects should have been included in the inventory holding cost; no

Bartkowski (2014), discusses the understanding of the sacred and the religious
identity as an ethnographer. Being sacred is something that transcends time,

well. The song In the Garden has been performed by countless entertainers and it
provides hope for devout Christians as it provides explicitly religious verses and

Inequalities based on gender, race, and social characteristics are unfair and an issue
we the people can change. We still experience injustice through race in many

Workplace inequalities are when an employee is discriminated against because of
their race , age , gender, class or sexual orientation. As Americans you would think
that we would have this concept under control with all our laws in place, but
unfortunately we do not. Along with workplace discrimination , we have race pay
gaps as well. I believe the wage gap comes from greed , we have come so far as a
country that this should not be an issue anymore. Wages in America are the
primary source of income for out people. There are many factors to why there are
wage gaps, lack of education, family issues and of course discrimination. According
to the Pew Research Center, white men earn more money than Hispanics, African
Americans and women. Discrimination can make obtaining employment difficult
and make life more harsh, While 40% of blacks say their race or ethnicity has
made it harder for them to succeed in life, just 5% of whites and 20% of Hispanics
say this. (Pew Research Center, 2016) Consistent discrimination in America can cause
people to believe what their discriminators are saying making them feel shameful and
hopeless. This is a social barrier that has proven difficult for Americans to overcome
due to people witnessing discrimination and conforming instead of defending the

Hail The Virgin Queen Elizabeth, a film made in 1998 depicts the early years of
the reign of Elizabeth I of England and her struggle of learning exactly what it
means to be a woman in control of an entire nation. This film is a historical drama
with as many ups, downs, twists, and turns one would expect in a film where the
main character is considered one of the most esteemed women in history.
Elizabeth, played by actress Cate Blanchett at a time when England was divided in
deciding whether or not they wanted to be Catholic or Protestant. Queen Mary is
on the throne with failing health and being pressured into making the choice of
condemning her half protestant sister to death, or letting her live and ascend to the
throne. Fortunately, before she passes, her court fails to get her signature on the
death warrant and Elizabeth does in fact ascend the throne. Her ascension to the
throne is the end and beginning of England. Elizabeth is now the ruler of a
kingdom that has no money, no army, and is under constant threat from other
nations trying to take control of England. This film directed by Shekhar Kapur and
written by Michael Hirst gives the audience an upfront and personal account of a
young Elizabeth who is seen as she ages from a blithe Botticelli Venus, to the stony,
regal monarch of the film s last scene (Maslin 1). The film begins with violence at
the end of Elizabeth s older sister Mary I reign as the Catholic ruler has heretics

40. Class In America By Gregory Mantsios Critical Analysis
In the first article titled Class in America by Gregory Mantsios the discussion on
class affecting the United States negatively is brought up. Gregory talks about the
fact that people do not choose to be poor but they are put into situations where they
cannot move up in class. Due to the fact that class creates an immense gap in
communities, there are many issues linked to being categorized as the lower class.
In the article Gregory states that class affects more than lifestyle and material well
being. It has a significant impact on our physical and mental well being as well.
CITE) The author connects the idea that if you are in the lower class than you will
also deal with other issues include your mental and physical health declining.
Alongside this idea, the author also states All Americans do not have an equal
opportunity to succeed, and class mobility in the United Statesis lower than that of
the rest of the industrialized world. (CITE) This goes along with the idea that once
your born into a class, breaking out of it is virtually impossible. The author is also
making the point that in the United States class is more problematic than other

41. Descriptive Essay On A Railroad Crossing
In a distant plain, I was traveling to nowhere. Walking along a path, I looked
around, absorbing the sights around me eight grazing cows and seven snoring
sleeping hyenas. Suddenly, I encountered a railroad crossing at a peculiar location.
To the right, daisies lined the railroad, and to the left, two perfectly square
mountains both a meter taller than me blocked the sighting of any approaching
westbound train. The railroad gauge was, to my surprise, a meter long. I stopped
at a fresh, yellow line naturally painted on the ground, a few centimeters before the
ties. The railroad crossing consisted of two oval crossing lights, at most twenty
centimeters in mean diameter. The lights were joined by a small stick, and the
stick was nailed onto a two meter rectangular iron pole. A saltire, constructed with
two somewhat irregular rectangles, was rather strong glued onto the pinnacle of
the pole. A broken motorized wooden barrier, seemingly cut down from a rotten
log, was duck taped with five red reflective pieces. Looking to the left, I recognized
a quaint fence board forced into the first square mountainside, with ten centimeters
of white sticking out. Calculating the barrier s location when it came down, I
realized the fence board was to let the barrier stop its impact hitting the ground. As
I strolled across the crossing, I tripped on the second rail tie, my glasses hitting the
sandy unpaved ground and bouncing back a few meters. I walked back and picked
up my glasses, but as I did so, the crossing acted. Instantly, the barrier swung down,
slamming onto the fence board with a deafening clonking sound. A hidden bell
began with a dink sound. The crossing lights flashed rapidly, like my heart, which
was also beating speedily, frightened from the sudden initiation of the crossing.
Without even sounding the horn, a green painted train sluggishly approached from
the left. Seeing this, I planned to jump over the train, but it was at least three meters
high, blocking the view of the other side. The train blew a delayed, ear piercing
horn, which woke up the hyenas that were now screeching. Covering my ears, I stood
and waited for the world to quiet down. After sighting two hundred and seventy three
red boxcars,
42. How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Symbols In The
Birthmark
Recognizing symbols in literary works is not always an easy feat especially if the
symbol that the author is trying to convey is not an archetype. The story The Birth
mark by Nathaniel Hawthorne starts off by comparing a love for science to the love
you can feel for a woman, and it is deemed Aylmer s love for his wife could only be
stronger than his love for scienceif the two were mixed. This foreshadowing gives the
reader some idea that the rest of the story birthmark will be about Aylmer s, love for
his wife being affected by his love of science.
The story The Birth mark by Nathaniel Hawthorne is heavily affected by symbolism.
Aylmer s wife Georgianna has a small hand shaped birth mark on her cheek that is
viewed differently by many people. Women view Georgianna s birthmark as
damaging to her beauty, nicknaming her birth mark the bloody hand . Some men see
Georgianna s birthmark as an enhancement to her beauty, unfortunately her husband
was not one of those men. Georgianna s birth mark ... Show more content on

This personification of nature as a woman is something that is prevalent through
most literary works to the point I would consider it an archetype. Aylmer believes
that he can use science to remove the imperfection nature has placed on his wife. I
believe Aylmer s choice to challenge nature symbolizes human kinds belief that
they can overcome natures hold on their lives. As Aylmer and Georgiana sit in his
lab he tells her of his lotion that when used freckles may be washed away as easily
as the hands are cleansed . She asks if he plans to use the lotion on her birthmark
and Aylmer replies this is merely superficial. Your case demands a remedy that shall
go deeper. This again lends evidence that Aylmer not only sees his wife s birthmark
as a physical imperfection but also regards it as an imperfection of the

In the U.S., retail stores will not allow underage teens or minors to purchase
violent or mature rated video games without a guardian. 97 percent of teens in the
U.S., ages 12 17 play video games. More than half of the best selling games are

Allowing teens to purchase violent or mature rated video games will increase the
sales of the game purchased and violent video games are known as a stress reliever.
History
Violence in video games dates all the way back to 1976. In 1976, there was an
arcade game called Death Race, and it was about running over stickmen with a car.
The game was eventually banned due to the violence it displayed. (Homeslice,
Death Race (Game) , 2014) Back in the late 70 s to the early 90 s, video games did
not have a rating. There weren t a lot of violent video games for home consoles at
that time, and violent games that were released was usually unlicensed or unofficial.
According to Ryan Lamble, some of the earliest violent video games were Chiller,
Splatterhouse, and Jack the Ripper. (Lamble, The evolution of 80s videogame gore
and mayhem , 2013)
In 1994, a video game rating system known as ESRB was established due to gory
and violent games such as Mortal Kombat and Night Trap. The ESRB decides
what age or ages a video game should be appropriate for. The ESRB rating
categories ranged from kids to adults to mature. ESRB. SEARCH ESRB

still exists and recently the ESRB expanded to mobile games and apps. The ESRB

45. Industrial Heritage And Its Impact On People s Behavior...
In the dictionary, heritage represents valuable things that have been passed down to
descendants. The behavior of heritage protection is a process of inheritance.
Heritage protection not only conserves precious historical places and objects, but
also provides the authentic environments for people to experience and research
history. The valued and diverse heritage can bring a great impact on people s
behavior and feeling.
Industrial heritage, as an essential part of heritage, has become a booming industry in
Western countries. Industrial heritage is the materialized symbol of the development
of industrialization in each country. In 2003, Nizhny Tagil Charter for the Industrial
Heritage adopted by The International Committee for the Conservation of the
Industrial Heritage. In this charter, the identity of industrial heritage is confirmed.
Industrial heritage not only includes industrial buildings and machinery, but also
contains social activities related to industry.
In China, industrial heritage development is just at the beginning stage. By the year
of 2001, the first industrial heritage was included in the List of National Key Cultural
Relics Protection. The protection of industrial heritage of coal seems to be a new
concept. Coal resource is still a very essential energy for Chinese economic
development currently. However, in the future, it would be replaced by clear and
new energy. Industrial heritage of coal will be the representative of rapid
development of economy

My experience last summer with a young adult who had difficulty moving forward
with her education spending five years in a two year community college and had a

according to Saleebey is tapping into the visions and the promise of individuals,
families or communities (7). In this regard, as the foundation for healing and

The findings of the research supports the claim that positive emotions accrued

effect the environment has on them and their genetic endowment. They demonstrated
this through a random experiment by incorporating meditation and mindfulness on a

immunity against some of life s challenges and stresses thereby reducing
susceptibility to disease and building capacity to minimize and bounce back from

emotions through loving kindness and meditation practice pointing to improved
health, prolonged life, and building up a foundational accumulation of a good
outlook on life that helps with coping, emotional stability, overall general well being
and being able to reciprocate emotional connection and support for others. Notably,

What level of committed line of credit do we need, and consider how we have been
managing working capital in the past and potential growth in revenues that translates
into working capital investment? You need to address the considerations in managing
the cash conversion cycle better.
A business line of credit is one that gives capital to meet a whole variety of business
needs. When business draw on their business line of credit to get more working
capital, buy inventory, handle seasonal cash flow gaps, pay off other debts, or address
almost any other business emergency or opportunity. On the other hand, a line of
credit is a simple financing product that allows business to withdraw funds up to a
predetermined amount. The business will only ... Show more content on

However, this metric looks at the amount of time needed to sell inventory, the
amount of time needed to collect receivables and the length of time the company is
afforded to pay its bills without incurring penalties. In fact, most business acquires
inventory on credit, which results in accounts payable. A business can also sell
products on credit, which results in accounts receivable. However, cash is not
involved until the business pays the accounts payable and collects the accounts
receivable. Therefore, the cash conversion cycle measures the time between the
outlay of cash and the cash recovery. The cash conversion cycle cannot be observed
directly in cash flows, which are affected by financing and investment activities as
well; rather, the cycle refers to the time span between a firm s disbursing and
collecting cash (Mueller, (2017)
Should we keep existing cash on the balance sheet for future mergers and acquisitions
or should we consider using some of these funds for supporting our short term line of
credit needs?
Growth and expansion are some of the primary motivations that influence the
decisions of a business. A business entity that pursues growth in existing and new
markets stands greater chances of maintaining competitive advantage over its rivals.
Other than organic growth, a business can enter mergers or acquire other firms to
accelerate its market
48. Foamed Polystyrene Research Paper
Pollution has become an emerging issue in our contemporary society. The awful
smell reeks of filth as it wraps itself around my body like the second skin. The
particles invade my lungs and sting my eyes even if I squint into the city streets at
Wichita downtown. They call it smog, but truly it is a chemical soup that can only
shorten our lives and exacerbate health issues. Whenever this happens, some walk
in face masks, others hide in homes with air filtration, but most of us can afford
neither. We take food where we can get it and sleep fitfully amidst our own
coughing. The old tale of a time when the air was so clean that trees and blossoms

Bacteria, fungi and other decomposers cannot break down these substances
because of their chemical composition. Styrofoam, also known as foamed
polystyrene, is a non biodegradable substance that can cause environmental
problems when it becomes litter. For instance, styrene, a neurotoxin at high doses,
can leach out of polystyrene materials when temperatures climb and this can be
detrimental. Sadly, the only places we now call clean are our homes: some of our
lawns are also pristine. We feel that the pollutants are within the dome as the rest of
our local community is a barren wasteland, home only to the chemical pollutants
we expel from our bubble. However, life carries on much like it always did, only
the television has less news to report about this issue. The dome is blue to mimic the
way the sky used to look, the energy pumped in from solar panels above the smog
layer. They say the oceans are dead: all life extinct, but we should plunge in and
save our local lakes and rivers from this tragedy by skimming off the plastics from
the surface. Our breathable air is now courtesy of the scientists rather than the trees.

natural beauty, but we squandered it chasing material wealth. All this can be changed

50. Photography Is A Type Of Art
Photography has been around for many years. In the time that the first camera was
invented to present day, various styles of photography have evolved. Two types of
photography that are very common today are street and nature or landscape
photography. Although these styles of photography have many similarities, they have
some differences as well. The subject, cameraequipment, and location are three major
differences in these styles. All types of photographywill have a main focus, or
subject. Street photography is a type of art that focuses on the people and the art
in which that city contains. For good street photography, you want to be located in
a busy city or downtown area. Ideal locations in the US include New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, and many more. This is because in a
large city with lots of traffic, you see many different types of people. All street
photographers have different types of styles of portraying this in their work, but the
people of a city are a main focus. Street photographers like to focus on subjects such
as construction workers working in the middle of the road, businessmen/women
rushing from point A to point B, the environment of a homeless person, and many
other things. It is also popular in street photography to capture city art like graffiti
and performers.
Equipment is very important with every photographer. The two main things that are
important for good quality photos are the lens and the camera body. Street

Introduction
The Royal College of General Practitioners in its recent published paper has
predicted that in the next ten years, the number of patients with one or more long
term conditions will increase to 18 million in England alone. Currently this group of
patients make up fifty per cent of all GP appointments, sixty four per cent of all
outpatient appointments and seventy per cent of all inpatient admissions. The total
cost is as much as seventy per cent of the total health and social care expenditure in
England.
Between 2001 to 2011, the number of full time GPs in England increased from
28,854 to 35,319. This represents an average annual growth of only two per cent.

However, studies have shown that structural organisation changes alone do not
deliver the expected improvements in the quality and performance of health care
(Ham, 1999). Redesigning service pathways and implementing changes are relatively
easy at a functional level. However, attempting to understand the distinctive thought
processes adopted by organisations, the underlying resistance factors to change and
how new practices can be sustained is far more challenging. Therefore, a deeper
analysis and understanding of organisational culture is crucial to the success of
change management.
This paper aims to explore the different challenges of organisation culture and change
management using the implementation of a recent telehealth project in North
Yorkshire to discuss the key success factors of change management derived from
different research studies.
Organisation culture
There are many definitions of organisational culture available in the literature, many
of which are based on the fact that culture consists of values, beliefs, and assumptions
shared by the majority of members of an organisation. These characteristics and
shared views are then translated into common and repeated patterns of behaviour.
Although it is difficult to come up with a single definition that would cover
52. The Problem Of High School Students
The goal is to target several audiences, with the main target being high school
students. The reason is that high school students are still unsure what their plans are
after graduation, and they are the main individuals that use social media as a key
source for news and information. High school students are the majority of potential
recruits that pursued additional sources of information online and were unable or
unwilling to find their answers from militarywebsites or talking with recruiters (Yeung
and Gifford, 2011). The other target audiences are the influencers and educators of
potential recruits. Attempt to reach out to parents, community leaders, social media
bloggers, and education personnel such as administrators, teachers, counselors, and
coaches. I believe these target audience are an appropriate source to reach out to.
Recruiters across the board say they are weathering what could be a very challenging
recruiting environment thanks to close relationships they have built not just with
potential applicants, but also their parents, teachers, coaches and community leaders
who influence their decisions to join the military (Miles, 2013). The U.S. Army rarely
target college students, unemployment agencies and temporary employment agencies.
This would be another one of my targets for this campaign. Most college students
find out very fast that after graduation, even with a degree, trying to find an employer
willing to hire someone without having any type of experience
53. The Power And Punishment And Notes From The
Underground
For centuries, Russian architecture has been colorful, masterful, and vivid to the
eye and imagination. Towers that were shaped like globes, each painted a different
bright color skied above expansive buildings. Many of these buildings are still in
existence today; their pictures engrained in textbooks and children s minds as to
how the Russians live. How could this possibly relate to a man who wrote stories
like Crime and Punishment and Notes from the Underground? How could the mind
of Dostoevsky burst in color when his writingis known for its decayed stance?
Simply because of the way he was constructed, much like the towers were: with
many different materials and conditions put in place to craft what could be
considered one of the writers to ever come out of Russia. However, he was not
without his critics, much like those who look at the pictures of buildings and
proclaim how bad they were done and what could have been done better based on
how it was previously done by others. But would it have been better any other way?
Would Dostoevsky even have cared about their opinions? And what exactly brought
on the style of writing that is seen in his famous works? Konstantin Leont ev, a great
Russian writer in his own right, set out to observe when Russian literaturehad ended
its golden period. He concluded that it was well after writers like Pushkin, and was
well down in the dreary dregs when it reached the writings of Dostoevsky. He
claimed that Dostoevsky wrote in the decay
54. The Reforms Of Gaius Marius And The Aftereffects Of
The...
The first century BC brought about a number of important changes for the Roman
army. Most notably, the reforms of Gaius Marius and the aftereffects of both the
Social and Civil Wars altered the Roman army as a whole. Bringing about both
continuity and change, these events would help to shape the nature, composition and
character of the army of the Late Republic period and beyond. Change came in the
form of reforms brought about by Marius; the changing of the conscription of soldiers
into the Roman army would alter not only the formation of the army, but also its
nature and character. Furthermore, the granting of full citizenship to non Roman
troops who fought for the Roman army meant a blurring of a distinct Roman
identity, or what it meant to be a Roman. However, despite these aspects of change,
continuity too came out of this period. The troops of the army post Marian reforms
developed strong patron client relationships with their generals that were not unlike
the concept of the paterfamilias that had existed since the beginnings of Rome.
Furthermore, leadership of the army was put into the hands of a select few, as it
always had been, and these men would use the army as a means to further their
personal ambitions.
The largest of these changes to the Roman army were arguably the changes Gaius
Marius made in the conscription of soldiers. Conscription pre Marius took the form
of the state issuing a property requirement for soldiers who wished to join the army.

My paper will discuss several factors that led to the success of the Revolt of the
Netherlands which include; hatred of the Spain monarchy in the Netherlands,
failure of King Philip II as a ruler, the union of the provinces within the
Netherlands, the support of foreign allies and Spanish enemies, and Spain s lack of
funds. This revolt was composed of people from all social classes and all of these
men were all driven and motivated by a deep hate of Spain. After Charles V, Philip II

Philip II believed in complete sovereign power on his quest to create centralization
in the region, so he chose to exclude the involvement of the high nobility from any
polices that the king made or would make in the future (Zagorin, Pg.91). They
would have no say in what the government would do or what policies it would carry

when various please were made to him change his policies, he refused to accept the
advice and consent of the nobility or estates.
With his insistence on denying the Dutch their religious freedom and then denying
the nobility the right to have a say in policy matters, he set in motion the start of the
revolution. The Netherlands was a region that had various different provinces; they
were not a united front, politically speaking. But one thing that they did have in
common was that they looked upon the noblemen for guidance. The noblemen were
seen as leaders, sometimes even acting as provincial governors, and they usually
provided politically guidance to those in need, apart from dealing with any issues that
