The Accounting Principles Of Financial Statements And...
Accounting in health care has profound effects on financial statements, and knowing the necessary
components to conducting financial reports and balancing the assets is vital. Many things contribute to
the overall foundation of the balance sheet and valuations for the health care organization. A lot of
moving parts are required to keep health care organizations running and afloat for the long term. One
must understand the accounting concepts, and methods, terminology, in order to explain the various
uses on how they apply to balance sheets. Valuing assets and Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP) method is effective for the right valuation as they will be explained in the
following paragraphs.
Differences between Cash and Accrual Accounting
Cash accounting is a simple method which deals with revenue and expense within the health care
organization and personal uses. This method can easily apply to everyday people as several people
have a personal checkbook; they use to keep track of their expenses and depositing money every so
often. Using a checkbook is how we withdraw money for expenses which is one standard way to pay
for items. Cash basis accounting is also applied when reporting salaries for physicians or registered
nurses as an expense and this would allow no revenue of patients treated by physicians until the
following year when profits are collected. As good as method this is for people, accountants strive for
a better way to assess the organizations

Explosion Of Birth Order
You are connected to your family by more than just blood. The way you think and act is largely based
on the unnoticed bias your parents give during childhood. Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler was the
first to explore the ideas of birth order and how it affects personality due to family ordinance. Adler
was a world renowned psychiatrist and philosopher who formed the idea of individual psychology. He
was a colleague of Sigmund Freud and helped establish psychoanalysis, and was a founding member
of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society (Cherry). Associate professor in the psychology department at
the University of Redlands Catherine Salmon says, Adler s work led to an explosion of birth order
studies examining the relationships between birth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though, birth order illuminates a majority of our personality traits and decisions such as, career and
romantic relationships. Parents get wrapped up in the firstborn haze and overlook how much pressure
they put on older siblings. By creating a pressure to be the best and in control the older sibling takes
on the leadership role and often becomes more aligned with doing better in school than younger
siblings. Determination and intelligence correspond with higher level of career, and that is just what
the older sibling strives for. In fact, 100% of astronauts who ve gone into space were either eldest
children or eldest sons (State). Relationships work better if partners differ from each other and aren t
in the same birth order. The competition can be detrimental and problematic. Alfred Adler s birth order
theory provides us with useful information to reflect our decisions and explain how you think about
things. By becoming aware of it we can become more familiar with ourselves and get out of the all too

Comparing the Techniques Used by the Writers to Create a Sense of Fear and Tension in The Black
Cat, The Red Room and The Yellow Wallpaper
Short stories like The Black Cat , The Red Room and The Yellow wallpaper , which were all written
during the pre 1914 s, were used as popular entertainment during the 19th 20th century. At that time
there was no television. Today, if we wanted to be entertained by something with similar horrific
content we could watch a film on TV, however, in the late 19th century this role had to be filled with
the short story. The social context at the time was male dominant and a woman was expected to stay at

All three of the narrators write in first person, showing it as a personal experience to make the reader
feel more involved. This builds fear and tension because you can sense the build up of emotions and
imagine being in the narrators place. For example, in The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator says I get
unreasonably angry with John sometimes expressing her anger emotion, so we feel more involved.
She says that her anger is unreasonable but really it is not because she has the right to be angry with
him as he locks her up all the time and won t even let her see her baby. Although all three of the
stories are written in first person they are written differently, for example in The Yellow Wallpaper the
narrator builds all the fear and tension herself, whereas, in The Black Cat the narrator brings outside
influences into it, for example, the black cat and the narrator s wife influence some of the fear and
tension. In The Black Cat and The Red Room the narrator is male and both males are quite dominant,
but in The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator is female and is overpowered by her husband. This means
that a lot of emotional tension is built in the story.
At the beginning of The Black Cat and The Red Room the respective

Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively, Dalai Lama XIV. This happens to be my
favorite quote as it shows that we aren t always expected to follow the rules, and in that it is
acceptable to be immoral or unethical at some times. In some instances it is even necessary to be
immoral or unethical such as when you are being attacked and we all make mistakes. If we are unable
to be immoral or unethical then how are we supposed to defend ourselves if we are attacked. We pay
our military to kill and wound enemies of our country, and we also pay taxes to supply our military
and law enforcement with weapons that we are fully aware are designed to kill people. In fact America

Equal Rights Amendment Pros And Cons
The influential Phyllis Schlafly used her platform against the Equal Rights Amendment to emphasize
that the possibility of having equal rights between men and women would be destructive and
antifamily . Schlafly found the amendment to be disturbing when the ERA gained a strong support
system for its adoption; nevertheless, she started the STOP ERA movement in order to stress the
importance of having a traditional family in America. The primary purpose of the amendment was to
prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender in the United States (S L 103). The support of this
amendment was because women felt that they were being institutionally discriminated by the
patriarchal dominance. The idea that women who were wives and mothers had to be supported by
their husbands and work exclusively in their home was played out. Many women wanted to ... Show

In Schlafly s interview with Washington Star, she stated that the ERA would take away our laws that
are entitled to reflect the natural differences and the role assigned by God (S L 105). These laws that
she is referring to is the sanctity of the husband supporting his wife and family, praising God, and
husbands paying alimony to wives. If the ERA was passed, the woman would have to support the
family and pay for the same things men would pay, which should not happen; it is deemed
unconstitutional and disorderly in terms of tradition and the country s original conservative principles
that the man is the provider. It would also challenge the Christian heritage if Americans themselves are
losing their faith in God. Christianity is not prohibited in many public places, but it would be against
the First Amendment to pass a law that could potentially prohibit the exercise of the Christian faith in
households and in America, which would be

Canadian Magazine Dispute Case Study
1. To what extent do you think the U.S. Canadian magazine dispute was motivated by genuine desires
to protect Canadian culture?
I believe a small part of the dispute of the argument was to protect the Canadian culture. The
magazine rotation is Canada is mostly American. There is very little Canadian tradition in these
magazines. Magazines show a large part of a country s culture. That is why many countries do not
carry magazines of different culture or have them in large rotation. Depending on the type of
magazines, many residents look for trends that are going on in their country. If a Canadian opens a
home décor magazine, for example, and it is American then they will have a completely Americanized
idea of home décor, not of Canadian trends. So magazines can lead to culture and culture being lost.
2. To what extent do you think the government of Canada was pressured to seek to protect its market
because of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you were the Canadian government, trying to protect the domestic magazine market, what kind of
criteria would you establish to distinguish between a split run and a domestic magazine?
Lack of enforcement of some existing policies provide competitive advantages to non Canadian
magazines and would appear to undermine enforcement of Canadian (Jamison, 2008).
Lacking of enforcement of pushing more Canadian magazines on the newsstands has caused major
competition with Canada and foreign magazines. I would make sure that the would work with foreign
magazines to use some of the Canadian advertising, publishing as well as modeling agencies in these
magazines. If there can be no other compromise, I would use my position to make sure that agencies
in publications are utilized in these magazines as well so they can seek profit.

Different Methods Of Qualitative Research
This essay will look at the qualitative approaches to research and look into more detail at the main
traditions and theoretical approaches to qualitative research, the main research methods associated
with qualitative research; and the main criticisms that are frequently levelled at qualitative research.
There are many different definitions of qualitative research; one definition that defines it well is; a
means for exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups ascribe to a social or human
problem. The process of research involves emerging questions and procedures, data typically collected
in the participant s setting. (Creswell, J. 2009)
There are many different methods of qualitative research and the approaches used include narrative,
phenomenology, grounded theory, ethnography and case study. The narrative approach retells a person
s story across time; it explores what the story means and the lessons to be learnt from it. The goal of
phenomenological research is to describe participants experiences in a specific context and understand
a phenomenon.
Grounded theory research looks at a process, an action or an interaction with the goal of developing a
theory. The researcher attempts to derive a general, abstract theory of a process, action, or interaction
grounded in the views of participants in a study. This process involves using multiple stages of data
collection and the refinement and interrelationship of categories of information (Strauss Corbin,

Personal Narrative On San Francisco
During the summer of 7th grade my mom and I went on a trip to san Francisco that showed me how
real untreated mental health issues, homelessness, and drugs are. I always knew that bad communities
existed and they re not safe but I never knew what they really looked like. That was until my mom and
I accidentally walked through the tenderloin. The Tenderloin is one of the most infamous parts of San
Francisco. The whole city of San Francisco is a crazy and beautiful place that I learned how many
people suffer from drugs, crime, poverty and homelessness. It was about 70 degrees outside and fog
engulfed the city. As my mom and I were walking back from the Fishermen s Wharf. I turned to my

The mid Atlantic ridge:
The mid Atlantic ridge runs like a spine along the ocean floor between the North and South Atlantic

Analysis Of The Story Barn Burning By William Faulkner
Freedom In the story Barn Burning, William Faulkner writes about a boy whose father is a crook and
the boy s journey leaving his family. There are two main characters, Colonel Sartoris Snopes (Sarty)
and Abner Snopes. The boy s name in this is Colonel Sartoris Snopes and Abner Snopes is the father.
Abner Snopes feels that the law is always out to get him. So, he believes that his family should stick
r=together no matter what happens. The story is set in the late eighteen hundreds after the civil war.
The first scene of the story takes place in an old grocery store, in which they are holding a hearing for
Abner Snopes. A man named Mr. Harris accuses Abner for burning down his barn, but he has no
proof. The Justice calls Sarty to testify, but he does not speak. With Mr. Harris having no proof and
Sarty not testifying against his father the Justice tells Abner that he should leave the country and not
come back. Abner takes his family and leaves the country where he is not welcomed. This opening
scene sets the stage for the rest of the story. This story shows that over time if we think that the world
is out to get us we will only push those who are close to us away. After leaving the town the family
camped in a grove of oaks. Before going to bed Abner called Sarty and accused him of not standing up
for him. While Abner was talking to Sarty he brought up the thought that the people in the store were
only trying to get at him. The next morning they got up and

Hope lies on the horizon for fat and obese people as well! Contrary to popular belief, Weightlifting
can help people with losing weight and trimming down excess fat tissue. A study conducted by
researchers from the Boston University School of Medicine demonstrated that weightlifting, or any
weight or load bearing exercise, can help increase metabolism and, in turn, reduce body fat percentage
( Weight Training ). The researchers genetically modified the mice to grow their type 2 muscle fibers
and bulk them up; with this addition of muscle, the mice showed various signs of metabolic
improvements throughout the body such as fat reduction ( Weight Training ). The same science can be
applied to human beings. Weightlifting works and develops fast twitch (type 2) muscle fibers; a good
amount of muscle on the body will help with fat reduction by increasing the speed of the metabolism.
A study conducted by the Journal of Applied Physiology supports this data as well; after a 16 week
strength training, 13 men aged 50 65 years showed increases in resting metabolic rate, decrease in
body fat percentage with no change in weight, and an increase in strength (Pratley). Since bigger and
stronger muscles help burn fat then obviously it can help those struggling with obesity and all of the

Gospel Of Matthew Essay
New material begins at the start of Matthew with the birth and lineage of Jesus of Nazareth through
the first 2 chapters. The Sermon on the Mount was then introduced in chapters 5 7. Jesus refers to
himself the Human One often (i.e. chapter 9 verse 6) and even the Anointed One (chapter 23 verse

Maryka Wife Monologue
June, 1935: It has been a long day. The last few days have been long, drawn out by the uncertainty and
anger my wife and I share. We have every reason to stand together, hold each other and lament, cry in
to each other s shoulders. However, we stand with our backs to each other, a growing distance
between us. Our daughter, Malva, our brand new baby girl not much more than two years old, is
dying. She is so young, but still the hands of death reach for her. Her head is swollen. Cerebrospinal
fluid, the fluid that is supposed to keep you brain safe, protecting it from life s falls and trauma.
Instead, it is killing her. She has too much of it, it is swelling inside her head, pushing on her skull and
brain. Despite the tragedy we share, Maryka ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I live in my nice house, here on Isla Negra. However, what I ve done to get me here, it haunts me. I
have not killed anybody myself, there is no blood staining my hands. However, it feels like there
should be, for all I have survived. For all those who stood by me, that bled. There is only so much a
person should have to live with, only so much a person can live with before the darkness behind them
becomes overwhelming. I feel like, looking back on everything that I have experienced, that
everybody has a past that is dark. Everybody has things they have seen that haunt them, that cloud the
memories you would like to preserve, tainting them with the sorrow of another time. When I look
back, I see those I have lost, such as Malva and Maryka, my first true love. She left to go back to
Europe, and that was the last time I ever saw her. She took my only daughter with her, where she
would die 6 years later. I try to think back to the times where we loved each other, where we had no
quarrel or conflict, but it is clouded by the years of turmoil and anger. I too moved to Europe, where I
stayed with Delia del Carril in France before moving to a diplomatic position in Spain. Here, I met
with a new group of literary enthusiasts, some much younger and some my age. However, living and
writing in Spain was not long lived. A friend, Federico García Lorca, was executed by Franco. The
area of Madrid that I lived in was attacked and burned, children killed by merciless soldiers. The time
before the fall, the peace before the storm, is blurred out and empty to think about, as it is
overshadowed by the tragedy and loss that it proceeded. I know that my memories are unique to me,
and that some carry some much worse, and that others don t carry very many in the first place. Things
have changed, my perspective and understanding of the world and the way its inhabitants work has
been altered greatly. I see the light of my past, reflecting back upon the things I have

The Prospect Of Human Genetic Engineering
Rafi Ebne Rafi Dr. McKinnis ENG 201 April 8th, 2015 On the Prospect of Human Genetic
Engineering In the year of 2013 roughly 7.6 million people died of cancer, 1.5 million people died of
AIDS, and another 70,000 of Cystic Fibrosis ( World Cancer Day ; CF Foundation ). What do all these
diseases have in common? Modern medicine has no guaranteed way of curing them. The fact of the
matter is that we as a society don t know much about these, and some other life threatening diseases.
As a result, more years of research need to be undergone in order develop unique drugs that may cure
these, and other complex diseases . How long do you suppose it will take for a drug to come forth?
Five, ten, thirty years? What if it doesn t even exist? How many people do you suppose will die in the
meantime? Now my point is not to make one think that there is no method to curing diseases similar to
those previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, my point is to shine light upon a promising method
that has been showing results: genetic engineering. With the advancements of science, genetic
engineering is becoming a more and more developed procedure that has already saved the lives of
those terminally ill. But where one problem is solved, another arises. With the ever growing social
prominence of genetic engineering, ethical concerns are reaching a frenzied state. Many are weary of
playing God, and the idea of changing one s genetic makeup seems morally unjust. They see genetic

Birling is an egotistical, arrogant man that follows his capitalistic ideology. He has no concept of
value other than wealth or social status. This is revealed when Birling says Sheila means a tremendous
lot to me. This could be a demonstration of Birling s love for Sheila but because of the adversity
woman had faced because of their social inequality from men indicates that Birling is using his
daughter for his own selfish greed. Sheila is a representation of feminisation in society during the
early 1900 because she is treated as an object. By using the word means , it signifies that it could be a

human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder. In

Most of the states in the United States consider driver under the influence and kill someone, vehicular
manslaughter. According to Stim (2015), Alaska, Montana, and Arizona are the only three states that
more often than not charge defendants with murder over manslaughter in vehicular deaths caused by
driving under the influence. To put it in perspective, 94% of the states in the United States prefer
manslaughter convictions over homicide. Vehicular manslaughter is broken down into two divisions.
Vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and vehicular manslaughter with ordinary negligence.
Gross negligence comes from driving that is extremely reckless. Ordinary negligence spawns from the
driver failing to take the precautions as a typical driver, and injury/death is caused. For example, if an
intoxicated driver is swerving all over the road and strikes a car that results in death for the opposing
driver, that would be gross negligence. Now if an intoxicated driver fails to yield properly and t bones
a car that results in death of the other driver, that would be ordinary negligence. If a defendant is
found guilty of vehicular manslaughter, they face at least 4 10 years behind bars for each person
killed. Therefore, if a car has two people in it that were killed, the sentencing can be doubled. In
comparison, if a murder charge sticks, the defendant s sentence can range from 10 years to lifelong
imprisonment. McCurley (2014) argues that both of the drivers involved in the accident could be
found to be intoxicated. If one driver lives and the other dies, why should the driver that survives be
charged with murder? He is saying that both drivers can be at fault as they were both intoxicated. The
reason we lock away homicidal people is because of their mental state. We do not want them to be
able to roam the free world and possibly commit murder again. When people drive under the influence
and take a life, that does

2. Critical Theory and the Critique of the Culture Industry
This lecture considers how the Critical Theorists of the Frankfurt School sought to understand the
relationship of culture and society in an age of advanced capitalism and mass media. It explores their
analyses of popular culture, and poses the question of whether the term culture industry has now lost
its original, critical meaning.
Key thinkers: Marx, Gramsci, Adorno, Horkheimer, Benjamin
Seminar questions
1.Has the mechanical reproduction of art opened up possibilities of a more democratic appreciation, or
merely reduced it to the status of a commodity?
2.Has the Culture Industry killed High Culture ?

How is this useful for media criticism
Film Criticism:
The difference between theater and film is also about loss of aura. A play (has aura) is always different
because the actors interact with the audience and each performance is unique. A film, however has no
audience the actors usually only perform tiny fragments of the whole and generally not even in
order....movies are pieced together by editors. Film 也是一种reproduction。
Audience Reception:
Watching a film is a collective experience and each audience member is a critic its part of the fun.
Think of a newsreel when a group of people witness an event they are educated on something and they
can become politically active because of it (For example, although he was talking about the potential
for class revolt Benjamin would be proven correct when American men and women were motivated
by newsreels in WWII美国人民在二战的时期受过新闻短片的影响。新闻短片在这儿来看是一种
political propaganda). 看新闻是一种educated你。受众是一种被动的过程,受众接受what they
want to tell you.
Capitalism/Fan Culture:
But just as the medium has the potential to be used in the Revolution, it cannot be because it is
controlled by capitalism (this might be a good connection to the Hollywood Censored book).
Because of the way capitalism operates, there is a false consciousness between the actors and
audience. The actors become held up as having cult value (ritual

Socially Constructed Reality and Meaning in Notes from Underground
Just as the hands in M.C. Escher s Drawing Hands both create and are created by each other, the
identity of man and society are mutually interdependent. According to the model described in The
Sacred Canopy, Peter Berger believes that man externalizes or creates a social reality that is in turn
objectified, or accepted by him as real. This sociological model creates a useful framework for
understanding the narrator s rejection of ultimate reality or truth in Fyodor Dostoevsky s Notes from
Underground. The reality in which the narrator tries to live in part II, and the reality that he rejects in
part I, are both created and, as such, are ultimately meaningless. ... Show more content on

Just as the hands of Escher s illustration define each other, man and society are in a constant process
of mutual recreation.
Successful internalization is exemplified by the underground man of part II. In this section, the
narrator s actions are dominated by a desire to fulfill his socially defined roles. Often calling his
actions bookish, the underground man tries to act out traditional cultural relationships. In his
relationship with Liza the narrator sees an opportunity to fulfill the role of the hero, uplifting the poor,
wretched prostitute. He asks her about her home life and warns her about the sickness she could catch
from her occupation, all in an attempt to play the hero and save this dejected prostitute. The
manufactured hero reflects,
I began to feel what I was saying and grew excited. I d been longing to expound these cherished little
ideas that I d been nurturing in my corner. Something had caught fire in me, some kind of goal had
manifested itself before me. (Dostoevsky 65). These
cherished little ideas are the cultural norms that the underground man is trying to fulfill. The narrator s
interactions with other characters in part II reflect a desire on his part to live out archetypical roles.
When he feels insulted by the officer, the narrator clings to the romantic notion of vindicating himself
through a duel. After detailing his plan to confront the officer

The American Of The Canadian Empire
Once considered the gem of the Canadian Crown Corporations, Air Canada was afflicted by a storm of
financial problems in the early nineties. This onslaught of financial difficulties, which had been
created largely by the Gulf War and the Canadian recession, increased Air Canada s losses increased at
worrisome rates. Then, after suffering losses upwards of $218 million in 1991, the Board of Directors
recognized the need for a corporate overhaul and consequently appointed Hollis Harris as the Chief
Executive Officer the following year. Harris, a 37 year veteran in the highly competitive American
airline industry, was given the challenging task of returning the struggling airline to profitability.
When he was appointed, many Canadians were outraged that an American would lead a privatized
Canadian company and feared this decision to be a step towards the impending Americanization of the
Canadian culture. Others speculated that Harris was appointed for the sole purpose of training and
mentoring Air Canada s future leader . However, these individuals were all proven wrong when Harris
transformed the reeling airline into a leading competitor in the global airline industry. His American
background, which was condemned by many, played a significant role in the expanding Air Canada s
international reach. His experience in the aviation sector combined with his extraordinary leadership
skills, helped reduce costs and placed Air Canada on the path to financial recovery. Finally,

strictly an eating issue, this is not the case. There are many other aspects that go into developing the

The Clothing Styles By Christian Dior
Fashion By taking a look at the clothing styles worn by a group of individuals, we can comprehend a
great fragment regarding the prevailing social values of the generation. Polyester was the material of
choice and bright colours were everywhere. Men and women alike, wore tight fitting pants and
platform shoes. Christian Dior In 1947 the French designer Christian Dior dispatched his Corolle line,
a collection re establishing and modifying the square shouldered and straight female figure after the

characterised by dresses featuring delicate shoulders, a vaguely padded bodice, low neckline, a small

Dior s look was in its abundance the excessive use of luxurious fabrics and time intensive labor. The

Comparing Intersex And Transgender Females Deserve A Place...
Intersex and transgender females deserve a place of belonging in the world of sport. Society s need to
categorize humans makes it difficult for minorities to find a sense of belonging. Humans are easily
given labels by society as gay, straight, black, asian, female, male etc. This system works for the
majority of people, and those who fit in do not see a necessity to change these constructs. As Judith
Butler argues in her essay Undoing Gender we must remake the definition of human by deconstructing
our preconceived notion of humanity and continuously reassembling it. Butler eloquently states This
means we must learn to live and to embrace the destruction and re articulation of the human in the

Physicist Ira Hammerman discovered that in a set of swimming and running races woman s world
records were consistently about 90 percent of the men s world record. Further research proved this
ratio true across diverse sports (Meyer). Many believe that a male to female transgender holds an
unfair competitive advantage against a cisgender female because they were born as males and
therefore retain some of the advantages that come with masculinity. These advantages go beyond the
biological differences in gender which can be equated with hormonal treatment. In her essay
Essentialism and Experience Bell Hooks discusses the effect of male privilege. She argues that male
students, who have spent most of their lives benefitting from male privilege, do not fully understand
the passion of experience in a classroom. Similarly we can explore the benefits of male privilege in
sport which is a drastically male dominant aspect of society. A study at the University of Southern
California uncovered that L.A. based broadcast affiliates devote only 3.2 percent of airtime to women
s sport (Good). Iris Young builds on this societal imbalance in her essay Throwing Like a Girl. Young
explains how societal structures have a psychological effect on female performance. She argues that
the fact that women cannot throw as far as men is not simply due to the biomechanical differences

Poaching And Robin Hood
INTRODUCTION
We, the people of the world, do many things for the sake of our survival. Things that we are very
proud of and things that we are not. People have needs and they do or invent things based off of their
needs. How far they are willing to go is the million dollar question. Poaching has been going on since
the world began, but it did not become a problem and become illegal until the Late Middle Ages. In
the times where the lower class were peasants and the upper class had control of pretty much
everything. Robin Hood was of the first well known poachers during this time period. His reasoning,
like the reasoning like many other that poach, Hood was in desperate need of money and food for his

Although, in reality the number of people that actually know why poaching is done is very low.
Poaching, by definition, is the illegal act of killing, capturing, or removing mammals, birds, fish,
reptiles, insects, or plants from their natural habitats. (Greene, 1994, p.11). Yes. poaching is illegal but
there is a reason to why people feel the need to do these types of things. One of the first reasons to
why started poaching in the beginning was the fear of starvation. This reasoning was often said to
cause the most motivation for people to poach. People in countries where poaching is most common,
like Zimbabwe and Kanye, the economy is not doing well enough for people to have enough money to
support their families. By hunting for large game, poachers use the meat to feed their families and
allow them to keeping living. The desperation that people that poach must have to do this is
unimaginable, but just like the average person in any country they will do what they have to to keep
their family ahead.
Another reason why poachers do what they do is for the huge income that they gain from it. Wanting
to make a respectful income is not being greedy. Just like any other job, poachers do what is necessary
to make money. Poachers will sell parts of animals or animals all together. Most poachers only receive
5 10% of the money that they make selling the animal. Based off of the job that they do that is very

The Five Methods Of Capital Punishment
The death penalty was fundamentally thought of for the benefit of society. The objective of Capital
Punishment or Death penalty is to stop people from committing violent and offensive acts. The death
penalty or capital punishment has however flopped in any case , to avoid or discourage crime. At
present there are five methods of execution. The most commonly used form of execution is by lethal
injection. In this method the convict is first injected with sodium thiopental, which puts the person to
sleep, then he/she is injected with Pavulon, which finally kills him. [1] The next most common
method of execution used is electrocution in which the person is tied with leather straps to a chair and
electric current of two thousand or more volts is passed through the body. The initial shock of the
electricity causes the person s body to surge forward. The shock burns the internal organs of the
person, which leaves them dead. During this process urination, vomiting of blood, change in skin
color, and even swelling or burning of the skin may occur. This method of execution is currently used
by only eleven states. The third method is gas chamber execution in which hydrochloric acid and
potassium is used to kill the convict. One of oldest methods of executions is hanging and last method
is by shooting. All the five methods are inhumane and cruel. The convict dies within a few seconds.
He never gets the time to realize his mistake, repent over it or to correct it. Killing that person

Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly
violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the
Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s
revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the Stamp Act (1765),
the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Townshend Acts also infuriated the Americans, and
as in all other circumstances, they were willing to fight for their rights. The final justification for the ...

The Americans surely refused when asked, by the parliament to revoke the circular letter passed by the
Massachusetts assembly. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts, were
one more justification for their rebellion.
The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were known
as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts
government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed
troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their
rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights.
All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are not
valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the
passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The
Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with the
Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the Britsh
paid over the same goods.
Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. However they did not have
an adequate cause for revolution.

Analysis Of David Orr s The Principle Of Mastering Oneself
An important point in which David Orr goes into considerable detail about is his six principles to
rethink education. First, he ensures that all education is environmental education by every mean. In
western education particularly, students are more often taught that they are apart of taught that they are
apart from the natural world, or above it if you will. Leesa Fawcett enforces this idea on page 107 by
stating:
We have been taught to measure, manage, exploit the environment, to make money off of it on the
back s of others near and far. We ve been encouraged to ignore it, to stay out of its messy dirty places.
To ignore it is to ignore ourselves, our bodies, our forces and our relationships
Fawcett implies that undeniably students are being taught that education is the way to success and
success means exploiting the environment and ignoring the importance of sustainability. Next Orr uses
the Greek term, Paideia to formulate his principle of mastering oneself is the goal of education and
subjects are the tools of doing so (Orr, 2004, pg. 9). The current education system looks at specializing
in one particular subject, and being really knowledgeable in that subject alone is what education
strives for. However, one simply cannot just study one specific subject with no reflection on others,
because that is what aids one in formulating their own ideas and understandings of not only that
subject but their position in the world as well. His idea calls upon

time, place or person and also the growth of the Papacy was a rather slow and gradual process. In this
modern age Rome has been associated with the birth place of the Papacy but history shows that
Constantine moved the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople in the 4th century. In
Constantinople the father of the church was referred to as the Pope. The word Pope simply means
father, and in early times was used to refer to any important and respected bishop. In Rome the father
of the church was referred to as the Bishop of Rome. It is the purpose of this paper to present evidence
of the individuals that gave rise to the Papacy in the centuries between the 6th and 9th.
How and Why the Papacy in Rome became the Center of Power There are several contributing factors
that prompted the rise of the Papacy during the time name mentioned above, but the one event that
prompted this rise was the fall of the Roman Empire. When Rome was attacked by the Lombards, the
Goths and the Huns it left a trail of destruction and uncertainty. Also during this time Christian
heresies were running rampant throughout the state. The effort of Constantine and Roman Church
leaders is when the Papacy really started to gain ground and the rise to power. As historical evidence
has shown, Constantine relocated the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople

Participant Observation In Sociological Research
The two different methods that can be used in observation is with participant observation and visual
sociology. The participant observation is an observation of people being studied. This method is not
often successful, sociologists are needed to participate in the participant s daily life that is being
observed. The people that will help with this method will be people in their social group ( family,
friends, professors, coworkers etc.) This method is needed for the sociologists be objective observers
and be the actual participants in the social of their study. The observers record their observations in
notes, which will be useful for examination of the study. In the visual sociology, the techniques that
are being used here are photography and videotape. These techniques are methods for interviewing.
Experiment Experiment has three different methods. The first method is controlled experiments. In
controlled experiments, researchers have a dependent variable that lets them ... Show more content on

used in sociological surveys. The second method is sample surveys, in this sample researchers gather
demographic and ecological facts about people they are researching. The third method is opinion
polls, this method has marketing polls that help corporations to make decisions about their products.
The fourth method is sampling error , this is part of the opinions palls. This important information for

Offshore Oi Drilling Causes Environmental Damage Essay
Oil drilling is the process of perforating oil from the earth s surface. This process can be dangerous.
The drilling process can be harmful to nearby animal life. The process used to locate oil waves can be
harmful to animal life. When the oil ascends, it brings with it a number of deadly chemicals. The
chemicals released can consist of mercury and arsenic. Other substances such as lead have been
known to ascend with the oil (Horton, Jennifer, 1).
An oil spill is the process by which oil is mistakenly dispensed. The danger and damage an oil spill
can cause is exponential. An oil spill can cause millions of dollars in damages. Oil spills are one of the
worst catastrophes that happen, and they happen frequently. It has been predicted ... Show more

The animal death toll was far greater than that of the human (Clean Energy, 1). Over four thousand
animals died, and more were injured as a result of the British Petroleum oil spill (Clean Energy, 1).
Dolphins were enveloped in the oil (Clean Energy, 1). Four hundred and six dolphins lost their lives
during the eighty seven day plague (Clean Energy, 1). The bird population of the Gulf decreased as
well (Clean Energy, 1). Some of the birds were cloaked with oil (Clean Energy, 1). Thousands of dead
and suffering birds were seen floating in the black pools of oil (Clean Energy, 1). Six thousand one
hundred and twenty four birds died as a result of the Gulf oil spill (Clean Energy, 1). However birds
and dolphins were not the only victims (Clean Energy, 1). The British Petroleum oil spill destroyed a
portion of the sea turtle population found in the Gulf of Mexico (Clean Energy, 1). Over five hundred
sea turtles, some of them babies were affected by the spill (Clean Energy, 1). A grand total of six
hundred and nine sea turtles died as a result of the spill (Clean Energy, 1). These are only the
documented deaths (Clean Energy, 1). The true animal death toll is estimated to be fifty times the
number of deceased carcasses that were found floating, or washed up on the shore (Clean Energy, 1).
An oil spill is not the only oil related incident that can harm

Body Mass Lab
Introduction The topic examined in Lab 4 is how Body Mass, Brain Size, and Life History variables,
are distinct amongst humans, apes, and other primates. These variables are related because they
demonstrate positive correlations in the scatterplots of Age of First Reproduction (years), Maximum
Lifespan (years), and Observed Brain Size (cc) of the species, in relation to an increasing Body Mass
(kg). By examining these variables, the Encephalization Quotient (EQ), Age at First Reproduction,
and Maximum Lifespan are then compared amongst humans and various apes. It is suggested that the
EQ, Age at First Reproduction, Maximum Lifespan of humans are higher than other apes. In this
project, we investigated the difference of the EQ, Age at First ... Show more content on

I believe that the estimates were inaccurate because they were both too high or too low, as indicated in
the data. Referencing the scatterplot of Observed Brain Size (cc) versus Body Mass (kg), the data
demonstrate that the relative brain size for the fossil hominins increases as the body mass of the
species increases. Likewise, referencing the scatterplot of Age at First Reproduction (yrs) versus Body
Mass (kg), the data demonstrate that the average age at first reproduction of species increases as the
body mass increases. Lastly, referencing the scatterplot of Maximum Lifespan (yrs) versus Body Mass
(kg), the data demonstrate that the average Maximum Lifespan of species increases as their Body
Mass increases. However, there is an outlier in all three of these graphs, presumably the data of
humans, in which their body mass yields higher values of age at first reproduction, maximum lifespan,
and observed brain size, suggesting a slow life history compared to other species. Moreover, by
observing the measures of EQ for the species, the relative brain size for the fossil hominins can aid us
in reconstructing their life histories by demonstrating how deviated the observed brain sizes are when
compared to the expected brain size. Therefore, by measuring the EQ with the observed brain size and
the expected brain size, it allows

Violence In Leadership
Did you know that violence accounts for more than 1.6 million deaths every year?
Violence has been around us our whole lives and is something that will never come to a stop. Violence
will continue through the rest of our lives and the lives to come in the future if someone doesn t step
up and try to take a stand. Society s leading problem is violence and can only be helped through the
kind of leadership that demonstrates Trust and Integrity, Confidence, and a good communication.
First, trust and integrity are one of my three most important qualities that every leader needs to have if
they are gonna try to stop violence within our society. Trust and integrity is a key quality on how we
can try to stop the problem of violence in our society. Talking about integrity, Oprah Winfrey said:
Real integrity is doing the right, knowing that nobody s going to know whether you did it or not. What
she said kinda ties into to trust as well because everyone is gonna know that you re going to do it and
do well. Trust and Integrity would be important for a leader to stop the violence because it shows a
sense of trust and shows that the leader will do the right thing. ... Show more content on

Confidence is very important because when you make decisions and you aren t confident about them.
Then your followers are gonna realize that you have no clue what you are doing and they won t trust
you. Henry David Thoreau once said Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private
opinion. What man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates, his fate. What he is
trying to say is that, if you don t have enough confidence in yourself then you will not

At that time there was no television. Today, if we wanted to be entertained by something with similar horrific content we could watch a film on TV, however, in the late 19th century this role had to be filled with the short story. All three of the narrators write in first person, showing it as a personal experience to make the reader feel more involved. This builds fear and tension because you can sense the build up of emotions and imagine being in the narrators place. She says that her anger is unreasonable but really it is not because she has the right to be angry with him as he locks her up all the time and won t even let her see her baby. Although all three of the stories are written in first person they are written differently, for example in The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator builds all the fear and tension herself, whereas, in The Black Cat the narrator brings outside influences into it, for example, the black cat and the narrator s wife influence some of the fear and tension. In The Black Cat and The Red Room the narrator is male and both males are quite dominant, but in The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator is female and is overpowered by her husband. I believe a small part of the dispute of the argument was to protect the Canadian culture. The magazine rotation is Canada is mostly American. There is very little Canadian tradition in these magazines. Magazines show a large part of a country s culture. That is why many countries do not carry magazines of different culture or have them in large rotation. Depending on the type of magazines, many residents look for trends that are going on in their country. If a Canadian opens a home décor magazine, for example, and it is American then they will have a completely Americanized idea of home décor, not of Canadian trends. She took my only daughter with her, where she would die 6 years later. I try to think back to the times where we loved each other, where we had no quarrel or conflict, but it is clouded by the years of turmoil and anger. I too moved to Europe, where I stayed with Delia del Carril in France before moving to a diplomatic position in Spain. Here, I met with a new group of literary enthusiasts, some much younger and some my age. However, living and writing in Spain was not long lived. A friend, Federico García Lorca, was executed by Franco. The area of Madrid that I lived in was attacked and burned, children killed by merciless soldiers. The time before the fall, the peace before the storm, is blurred out and empty to think about, as it is overshadowed by the tragedy and loss that it proceeded. I know that my memories are unique to me, and that some carry some much worse, and that others don t carry very many in the first place. Things have changed, my perspective and understanding of the world and the way its inhabitants work has been altered greatly. I see the light of my past, reflecting back upon the things I have ... The Prospect Of Human Genetic Engineering Rafi Ebne Rafi Dr. McKinnis ENG 201 April 8th, 2015 On the Prospect of Human Genetic Engineering In the year of 2013 roughly 7.6 million people died of cancer, 1.5 million people died of AIDS, and another 70,000 of Cystic Fibrosis ( World Cancer Day ; CF Foundation ). What do all these diseases have in common? Modern medicine has no guaranteed way of curing them. The fact of the matter is that we as a society don t know much about these, and some other life threatening diseases. As a result, more years of research need to be undergone in order develop unique drugs that may cure these, and other complex diseases . How long do you suppose it will take for a drug to come forth? Five, ten, thirty years? What if it doesn t even exist? How many people do you suppose will die in the meantime? Now my point is not to make one think that there is no method to curing diseases similar to those previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, my point is to shine light upon a promising method that has been showing results: genetic engineering. With the advancements of science, genetic engineering is becoming a more and more developed procedure that has already saved the lives of those terminally ill. But where one problem is solved, another arises. With the ever growing social prominence of genetic engineering, ethical concerns are reaching a frenzied state. Many are weary of playing God, and the idea of changing one s genetic makeup seems morally unjust. They see genetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the states in the United States consider driver under the influence and kill someone, vehicular manslaughter. According to Stim (2015), Alaska, Montana, and Arizona are the only three states that more often than not charge defendants with murder over manslaughter in vehicular deaths caused by driving under the influence. To put it in perspective, 94% of the states in the United States prefer manslaughter convictions over homicide. Vehicular manslaughter is broken down into two divisions. Vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and vehicular manslaughter with ordinary negligence. Gross negligence comes from driving that is extremely reckless. Ordinary negligence spawns from the driver failing to take the precautions as a typical driver, and injury/death is caused. For example, if an intoxicated driver is swerving all over the road and strikes a car that results in death for the opposing driver, that would be gross negligence. Now if an intoxicated driver fails to yield properly and t bones a car that results in death of the other driver, that would be ordinary negligence. If a defendant is found guilty of vehicular manslaughter, they face at least 4 10 years behind bars for each person killed. Therefore, if a car has two people in it that were killed, the sentencing can be doubled. In comparison, if a murder charge sticks, the defendant s sentence can range from 10 years to lifelong imprisonment. McCurley (2014) argues that both of the drivers involved in the accident could be found to be intoxicated. If one driver lives and the other dies, why should the driver that survives be charged with murder? He is saying that both drivers can be at fault as they were both intoxicated. The reason we lock away homicidal people is because of their mental state. We do not want them to be able to roam the free world and possibly commit murder again. Yes. poaching is illegal but there is a reason to why people feel the need to do these types of things. One of the first reasons to why started poaching in the beginning was the fear of starvation. This reasoning was often said to cause the most motivation for people to poach. People in countries where poaching is most common, like Zimbabwe and Kanye, the economy is not doing well enough for people to have enough money to support their families. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed troops to be quartered wherever needed. • 40. Analysis Of David Orr s The Principle Of Mastering Oneself An important point in which David Orr goes into considerable detail about is his six principles to rethink education. First, he ensures that all education is environmental education by every mean. In western education particularly, students are more often taught that they are apart of taught that they are apart from the natural world, or above it if you will. Leesa Fawcett enforces this idea on page 107 by stating: We have been taught to measure, manage, exploit the environment, to make money off of it on the back s of others near and far. We ve been encouraged to ignore it, to stay out of its messy dirty places. To ignore it is to ignore ourselves, our bodies, our forces and our relationships Fawcett implies that undeniably students are being taught that education is the way to success and success means exploiting the environment and ignoring the importance of sustainability. Next Orr uses the Greek term, Paideia to formulate his principle of mastering oneself is the goal of education and subjects are the tools of doing so (Orr, 2004, pg. 9). The current education system looks at specializing in one particular subject, and being really knowledgeable in that subject alone is what education strives for. However, one simply cannot just study one specific subject with no reflection on others, because that is what aids one in formulating their own ideas and understandings of not only that subject but their position in the world as well. The chemicals released can consist of mercury and arsenic. Other substances such as lead have been known to ascend with the oil (Horton, Jennifer, 1). An oil spill is the process by which oil is mistakenly dispensed. The danger and damage an oil spill can cause is exponential. An oil spill can cause millions of dollars in damages. Oil spills are one of the worst catastrophes that happen, and they happen frequently. It has been predicted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The animal death toll was far greater than that of the human (Clean Energy, 1). Over four thousand animals died, and more were injured as a result of the British Petroleum oil spill (Clean Energy, 1). Dolphins were enveloped in the oil (Clean Energy, 1). Four hundred and six dolphins lost their lives during the eighty seven day plague (Clean Energy, 1). The bird population of the Gulf decreased as well (Clean Energy, 1). Some of the birds were cloaked with oil (Clean Energy, 1). Thousands of dead and suffering birds were seen floating in the black pools of oil (Clean Energy, 1). Six thousand one hundred and twenty four birds died as a result of the Gulf oil spill (Clean Energy, 1). However birds and dolphins were not the only victims (Clean Energy, 1). The British Petroleum oil spill destroyed a portion of the sea turtle population found in the Gulf of Mexico (Clean Energy, 1). Over five hundred sea turtles, some of them babies were affected by the spill (Clean Energy, 1). A grand total of six hundred and nine sea turtles died as a result of the spill (Clean Energy, 1). These are only the documented deaths (Clean Energy, 1). The true animal death toll is estimated to be fifty times the number of deceased carcasses that were found floating, or washed up on the shore (Clean Energy, 1). An oil spill is not the only oil related incident that can harm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Body Mass Lab Introduction The topic examined in Lab 4 is how Body Mass, Brain Size, and Life History variables, are distinct amongst humans, apes, and other primates. These variables are related because they demonstrate positive correlations in the scatterplots of Age of First Reproduction (years), Maximum Lifespan (years), and Observed Brain Size (cc) of the species, in relation to an increasing Body Mass (kg). By examining these variables, the Encephalization Quotient (EQ), Age at First Reproduction, and Maximum Lifespan are then compared amongst humans and various apes. It is suggested that the EQ, Age at First Reproduction, Maximum Lifespan of humans are higher than other apes. In this project, we investigated the difference of the EQ, Age at First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the estimates were inaccurate because they were both too high or too low, as indicated in the data. Referencing the scatterplot of Observed Brain Size (cc) versus Body Mass (kg), the data demonstrate that the relative brain size for the fossil hominins increases as the body mass of the species increases. Likewise, referencing the scatterplot of Age at First Reproduction (yrs) versus Body Mass (kg), the data demonstrate that the average age at first reproduction of species increases as the body mass increases. Lastly, referencing the scatterplot of Maximum Lifespan (yrs) versus Body Mass (kg), the data demonstrate that the average Maximum Lifespan of species increases as their Body Mass increases. However, there is an outlier in all three of these graphs, presumably the data of humans, in which their body mass yields higher values of age at first reproduction, maximum lifespan, and observed brain size, suggesting a slow life history compared to other species. Moreover, by observing the measures of EQ for the species, the relative brain size for the fossil hominins can aid us in reconstructing their life histories by demonstrating how deviated the observed brain sizes are when compared to the expected brain size. Therefore, by measuring the EQ with the observed brain size and the expected brain size, it allows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Violence In Leadership Did you know that violence accounts for more than 1.6 million deaths every year? Violence has been around us our whole lives and is something that will never come to a stop. Violence will continue through the rest of our lives and the lives to come in the future if someone doesn t step up and try to take a stand. Society s leading problem is violence and can only be helped through the kind of leadership that demonstrates Trust and Integrity, Confidence, and a good communication. First, trust and integrity are one of my three most important qualities that every leader needs to have if they are gonna try to stop violence within our society. Trust and integrity is a key quality on how we can try to stop the problem of violence in our society. Talking about integrity, Oprah Winfrey said: Real integrity is doing the right, knowing that nobody s going to know whether you did it or not. What she said kinda ties into to trust as well because everyone is gonna know that you re going to do it and do well. Trust and Integrity would be important for a leader to stop the violence because it shows a sense of trust and shows that the leader will do the right thing. ... Then your followers are gonna realize that you have no clue what you are doing and they won t trust you. Henry David Thoreau once said Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private opinion. What man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates, his fate. What he is trying to say is that, if you don t have enough confidence in yourself then you will not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
