Government Spending of Tax Dollars Essay
Government Spending of Tax Dollars
Taxes are the dollars that we pay to government to supply the services that are not or can not be
provided through the free enterprise system. Taxes have been around since the beginning of
organized societies. They come in various forms. Most common are income taxes both federal
and local government. These taxes are assessed on the amount of income a person earns. Other
taxes come in the form of user taxes; these taxes are imposed on the people that are using the
goods being taxed, such as gas tax, alcohol tax, sales tax, and luxury taxes. Property taxes make up
the major revenues for local and city governments. Furthering the burden of taxation are taxes that
are attached to such bills as utility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for these governments to function there was a need for revenue to meet the expenses
incurred by these governments. This need for revenue was met by levying taxes on individuals and
businesses. It has always been a question to the population being taxed as to whether or not the
government was doing a good job in assessing and managing the money it collected from taxes.
Taxes 4
The purpose of this report is to determine if the government is acting fairly in its taxation of the
American population, and to point out the waste in government spending. In an article published
November 1995, an unknown author explained the need for government revenue by defending
what the revenue supplies for the people. In America we live within a free enterprise society. A
free enterprise system is based on the idea of competition is good and that only the most efficient
businesses will survive. The free enterprise system works with the idea that the consumer is
somewhat knowledgeable about the products they buy. However, in today s modern world the
consumer cannot be always be expected to make an informed decision about something. This is
where federal laws are put in place to protect the interest of the public. Examples of such laws are
regulations covering quality and safety of home

MY TWO BROTHERS
No two people are exactly alike, and my two older brothers, Thu Nguyen and Thang Nguyen, are
no exceptions. When I think of them, I think of Rudyard Kipling s words, East is East. West is
West. Never the twain shall meet.
Even though they have the same parents, their considerable differences in looks, personalities, and
attitude toward life reflect the differences between Eastern and Western cultures.
Like the majority of oriental men, Thu is short, small, and has a full moon shaped face. His
smooth white skin and small arms and feet make him look somewhat delicate. Thu always likes to
wear formal, traditional clothes. For example, on great holidays or at family rice celebrations, Thu

he loves his independence more than he loves his family. He wants to move out of our house and
live in an apartment by himself. He is such an individualist that all the members in my family say
that he is selfish.
My brothers differences do not end with looks and personalities. Concerning

Introduction. The Goals Of The Organization Cannot Be...
Introduction The goals of the organization cannot be fulfilled without the skills or talent of the
employees and a direction to apply them. The employees will have goals, actions, and behaviors
to bring the company closer to the organization s vision. Moving forward requires direction so that
new and current employees stay on track. Appraising an employee may affect their base pay,
promotional status, and retention decisions. The employees who are found to have deficiencies
may be identified and corrected when their appraisal is interpreted. This can also reinforce the
employees existing strengths. A performance appraisal reviews an employee s career plans and
identify any training needed. Other components related to performance... Show more content on

Those who may use the different methods to evaluate the employee s performance include the
immediate supervisor, peers, committees, anonymous subordinates, and a 360 degree feedback,
which is all or some of the personnel listed and others outside the organization the employee has
direct contact. The simplest method is the graphic rating scale. It lists several job dimensions or
traits, competencies, or specific goals, and a range of performance values like below expectations,
above average, and role model. The supervisor is the evaluator who then totals the rating for the
overall evaluation. For companies who have a number of employees to rate may elect to use the
alternation ranking method. During the process, the employees rated are in a list. The staff
unknown is crossed out. The dimensions are listed and the best performing employee is mentioned
at the top and worst at the bottom, then alternates to the last employee. Similar to the alternation
method, is the paired comparison method. Listing all the traits and employees, the rater puts a plus
or negative next to the employee who pairs with the trait. The employee with the most plus signs is
the highest ranking. The force distribution method may work for some larger companies that can
afford to terminate lower ranking employees while others would rather work to build those on the
bottom percent up to a higher rate on the

A Short Note On The Uses And Functions Of A Server On...
BIND in Linux BIND (Berkeley Internet name domain) is the most commonly used DNS (domain
name system) server on the Internet, and it is the defacto standard on Linux and other Unix like
operating systems. DNS is the name resolution (i.e., translation) system that permits users to locate
computers on a network by using their domain name rather than their IP addresses. IP addresses,
which form the basis of addressing on the Internet and most other networks, each can contain as
many as 12 digits under the currently mainstream IPv4 addressing scheme (or as many as 32
hexadecimal digits under the next generation IPv6 addressing scheme). It can be difficult for
humans to remember such addresses, but it is relatively easy for them to remember domain names,
which typically use alphabetic characters and consist of words, abbreviations or acronyms. BIND
provides an openly redistributable reference implementation of the major components of the
DNS, including a DNS server (called named), a DNS resolver library and tools for verifying the
proper operation of the DNS server. The resolver library is a collection of functions written in the
C programming language that provides hostname to IP address and IP address to hostname lookup
services.BIND was originally written at University of California at Berkeley (UCB) as a graduate
student project under a grant from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration
(DARPA). The acronym BIND originally stood for Berkeley Internet

Taking a Look at Sports Psychology
Don t think of a pink elephant. Come on don t let the picture creep into your mind. Stop thinking of
that... Pink Elephant (Gardner). It has been proven that putting a don t or a not into a statement can
cause the brain to have difficulties in interpreting the statement. In sports, players tend to tell
themselves not to do something. In soccer, a goalie might tell him/herself to not let the other team
score a goal, and then the team does. Or in tennis, players tell themselves not to serve the ball into
the net, and then they do just that. Sometimes they tell themselves to do something, and that athlete
might end up doing the unthinkable. With three seconds left in the game, a basketball player might
take the three point shot and win the game, even though they have never been able to make that
shot before. These types of scenario tend to happen all the time. Psychology, or the mental game in
sports, is so important it can completely change the outcome of the game.
Sports Psychology has become more and more influential in understanding how to play the game.
Serious athletes are now training their mind just as much as they train their body. They have found
that to be a champion, it now takes more than just being fit and having talent. As the pressure to
succeed continues to increase, athletes continually add both physical and emotional stress to their
bodies. Mental toughness, or the ability to perform at one s optimal level regardless of their
circumstances, is a

In the document called George Jackson the author is Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan is an American
song writer who wrote this song and many others. Bob Dylan was born in May 1941 and is still
alive today (Wikipedia, 2018). He was born in Duluth, Minnesota. Bob Dylan was born with the
name Robert Allen Zimmerman (Wikipedia, 2018). Bob Dylan was known for talking about his
generation and singing in his songs about how they feel. That he was called the finger pointin

Bob Dylan said I woke up this mornin There were tears in my bed They killed a man I really
loved Shot him through the head (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is the beginning showing his
tribute to George and how sad it was for a man to die that he really loved. The next point he
makes is trying to say he is innocent and should not have been lock up and had the key thrown
away. Bob Dylan said, Sent him off to prison For a seventy dollar robbery Closed the door
behind him And they threw away the key (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is showing how he is
using the first time he was arrested to make him look innocent when the time he was killed in
jail was when he been convicted of killing a guard. Dylan said Prison guards, they cursed him As
they watched him from above But they were frightened of his power They were scared of his
love. Lord, Lord, So they cut George Jackson down. Lord, Lord, They laid him in the ground.
(Arnove Zinn, pg. 493). This the point he is showing that the guards killed him because they
were scared of his power that he had and the love that he could give and that they had to get rid
of him from taken over them from all of the people reading his book. That after he was killed it
started revolution in other prisons because of his book that everyone read and from him being
killed. That this is showing how the government was losing control and that they had to get rid
of him, so he would not take power away from the government anymore. This just shows how
Bob Dylan main points was to play tribute to him and to make look innocent and to be a very
powerful and loving man that will be missed. You can use this in argument to show how much he
will be missed. You can also use it show how power he was that it made Bobo Dylan write a song
about the guy. You could also use it in a history paper to tell about different time of the government

Dale Carnegie s How On Win Friends And Influence People

MCB Sec. 7
30 November 2015
Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and Influence People I will never forget my first MCB
lecture. A large syllabus was presented, one that seemed to be jam packed with deadlines, reading
assignments, quizzes, and to my surprise extra credit assignments. Upon hearing that one of the
extra credit assignments consisted of reading a book published in 1937, I was not too thrilled.
However, after skimming through the first few pages of How to Win Friends and Influence People, I
became instantly intrigued and skimming turned into close reading. I have never been one to
read, or for that matter, one to be glued to a book, but this book really spoke to me. You see, I am

Of course I never meant any harm, but there have been several periods of time when she has
resented me for it. Not only have I made others resent me at times, but I have resented others for
being criticized. Just recently, I received a B on an English paper that I put hours into. Obviously,
I am not the best writer, but I put a lot of work into that paper and consulted with the professor
multiple times before handing it in. Now, I understand that constructive criticism is necessary in
order to enhance one s writing skills, but the professor had absolutely nothing good to say about
my writing. This made me resent class, resent seeing her, resent doing reading assignments, and
above all resent writing. The key word here is resent. Carnegie sums this up well by saying,
Criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person s precious pride, hurts his sense of importance,
and arouses resentment (23). This ties together two points, the emphasis on one s sense of
importance and resentment. Going off of this idea of criticism, I like how Carnegie touched upon
it later in the book. Another principle of his is: Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing
the other person. This is such a key principle because, as stated above, criticism is necessary in
some cases. The hard part about criticism is that it can invoke feelings of resentment. Therefore, in
order to provide criticism in

The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot
T.S. Eliot s most famous poem The Wasteland, a grim picture of post war London is analyzed as
being the most important poetic work of the twentieth century. The first glance at this poem leads
one to the conclusion that the content of this piece is bleak and depressing. The assumption can be
made that Eliot has diagnosed his society with a terminal disease, which he chooses to describe
through his poem. After further analyzing The Wasteland it can be seen that out of the dust of this
barren place there shines a light of hope. In this decayed hole among the mountains/In the faint
moonlight, the grass is singing (361 62). The decaying world being serenaded by the grass under
the moonlight reinforces the idea that out of desolation, something wonderful can be found or
created. Eliot scatters The Wasteland with motifs in the setting that directly contrast to the fertile
periods of society in previous years. Eliot intentionally manipulates an obscure water motif in order
to illustrate nature and life. Just like water is constantly altered in structure through its path, Eliot s
poem continually changes due to his literary structure of writing: stream of consciousness. It is
strange to think of a description of a barren land being writhe with water. Eliot discusses a drought
in a desolate dessert, yet also talks about the abundance of it in the drowning of the Phoenician
Sailor. He seemingly contradicts himself in his discussion. Water is a symbol of fertility, how can

Political Corruption
1. Why have governments individually and collectively decided to crack down on corruption? Is
this crack down a permanent change or just a temporary phase?
a. Over a decade, Corruption has become a serious threat for every nation as it directly impacts the
country s economy thereby its overall growth at all levels. b. Corruption is considered to be a global
disease which has already spread across the universe in a drastic manner and no country can be
proud to say that they are corruption free. But in the recent era, many countries have realized many
unbelievable damages happened due to corruption from small scale to large scale and decided to

other hand free market will open doors improved supply chain which can reduce corruption to an

3. Where would you draw the line between acceptable gifts and unacceptable bribes? Does this line
differ among countries? Design an anti corruption code you could give to your employees.
a. As per many experts, it s very thin invisible line between acceptable gifts and unacceptable
bribes which differs from one country to another based on the culture. b. I would agree to the
above point to an extend as culture has something built into it that manipulates the line. For
example, gifting a couple of wine bottles for clients or associates is very common in western
countries whereas guanxi is widely seen in china which appears to accept corrupt practise as
normal etiquette and it s different in other countries. c. I believe that the line is visible clearly and
thick enough to make decision on gift and bribes. For me, any gift which influences the receiver s
decision sooner or later for one s personal interest is called

Changes Of Climate Change Across Earth
Hominins During the Pleistocene
What is the Pleistocene? According to Understanding Humans: Introduction to Physical
Anthropology and Archaeology, the Pleistocene, or the Ice Age, was a period 1.8 mya 10,000 ya
marked by drastic fluctuations of climate change across Earth. The Pleistocene alternated between
extreme periods of glaciations and interglacials. During glaciations, temperatures dropped
drastically. In northern continents this drop in temperature led to mass accumulations of ice,
measuring nearly a mile thick; however, these glaciers were not seen everywhere. In Africa,
glaciations led to more arid and dry climates. Interglacials, on the other hand, were periods of
warmer climate. During interglacials, climate would become ... Show more content on

During both the Early Pleistocene and the Middle Pleistocene, we see a number of hominins that
paved the way to modern human development (Boaz Ciochon, 2004). One of these hominins is
Homo erectus (Lewis et al., 2013). According to Lewis (2013) while it is probable that they first
developed developed in Africa, it also . . . seems likely that H. erectus first arose in East Africa
and then very quickly migrated to other continents ; however, it is hard to prove this hypothesis
as new fossils are found (p. 236). While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the
majority share the same range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust
bodies weighing more than 100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is
700 to 1250 cm(^3). The most distinct characteristic of H. erectus is its cranial shape. The cranium
displays a thick cranial bone, large brow ridges, a pointy nuchal torus at the posterior, low forehead
development, a wide cranium base, and finally a sagittal keel (Lewis et al., 2013). According to The
First Humans, environments during the Early Pleistocene fluctuated, but they tended to be more
open and wet than the Pliocene environments before them. Thus, it was warmer. These open
grassland environments yielded bulky, herding mammals. The First Humans also suggests the
anatomy and physiology of H. erectus allowed for the endurance they needed in order to obtain

Commodity Fetishism and Its Impact on Contemporary Society...
What is commodity fetishism as defined by cultural and media theorists? Identify and analyse three
images that demonstrate the way commodity fetishism is impacting on contemporary society and
culture.
Commodities are defined as things that are bought and sold in a social system of exchange.
(Sturken Cartwright, 2009, p. 279 ) The concept of commodity culture is intricately allied with the
idea that we construct our identities through the consumer products that inhabit our lives (Sturken
Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The idea of a commodity culture has been described by media theorist
Stuart Ewen as a commodity self. He believes that we are constructed through our relationship with
and use of commodities in our everyday lives. Karl Marx ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only does it allow the development of a broader social context of devaluing labour, making it
hard for workers to take pride in their work but it also allows consumers to remain ignorant of
working conditions. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 280) This image is an example of commodity
fetishism because it is essentially a process of mystification that not only empties commodities of
the meaning of their production but also fills them with new, appealing meaning. (Sturken
Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The process of making something seem more appealing is used to
promote and sell the product. Consumers purchase Calvin Klein jeans because they are a
designer label and are promoted as being fashionable and worn by celebrities. Consumers are not
purchasing the Calvin Klein jeans because they were mass produced in a different country or
because of the people who produced them. This example relates back to the Frankfurt school
theory that commodities are hollowed out objects that propagated a loss of identity and erode our
sense of history. (Kaplan 2006, p. 105)
Image two is the front cover of a book. It shows chocolate and has been chosen as an example of
commodity fetishism. Chocolate is associated with desire and is a form of pleasure in people s
lives. Chocolate is also a popular gift to give loved ones for birthdays and special occasions.
Chocolate is a symbol of love and comes in many shapes and forms which can suit a variety of
occasions. It is

Servant Leadership By James C. Hunter s The Servant
Servant Leadership and its Application to Nursing Practice
The basis of the servant leadership theory is that in order to be a good leader; one must be a
servant, first (Hunter, 1998). Although, the concept of servant leadership can be applied to any
field, many nurses identify with the servant leadership style the most. James C. Hunter s book,
The Servant, portrays a difficult journey of understanding this concept, while also addressing many
of the main components of servant leadership. In this paper, I will discuss the concept of servant
leadership and how reading about this concept has helped me reach my goals to become a
knowledgeable and professional nurse.
Definitions and Background
The term, servant leadership was first coined in 1970 by Robert K. Greenleaf (Marquis Huston,
2015). The concept was introduced in Greenleaf s essay, The Servant as Leader (Greenleaf,
1991). In Greenleaf s essay he mentions that a servant leader focuses on the growth, as well as the
wellbeing of the people and the communities that they belong in (Greenleaf, 1991). A servant
leader helps others work at their best, which I believe results in authority for the servant leader.
Hunter s book mentions this when a student discovers that the right to be called a leader starts out
with having the proper will. With the proper will, comes the decision to love others (Hunter, 1998).
He defines loving others as the ability to meeting the needs of the subordinate, this leads to

Healthcare Crisis And Affordable Care Act
Healthcare Crisis Affordable Care Act
During the 2008 presidential election, the issue of health care reform became a pressing issue,
mainly among the Democrats. Supporters quoted that nearly 46 million Americans were uninsured
while 25 million did not have sufficient health coverage. The costly monthly insurance premiums
led countless individuals to fully rely on government entitled programs for their health care needs.
Upon his election, President Obama made health care reform the focus of his agenda during his
first year as President.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) or Affordable Care Act (ACA) for short,
is the new health care reform law in the United States of America and is often referred to by its
nickname Obama Care. The Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010, to

President Obama s efforts to reform the American health care system in order to provide health
insurance to millions of uninsured American citizens and lower the expenses linked to health care.
This new health care act is one that contains various enhancements to the quality and availability, as

In the playwright Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, Marc Antony appears to be a

Underrepresented School Counselors
Do School Counselors Impact Whether Underrepresented Student are College or Career Ready?
ASCA, the American School Counseling Association, is the foremost association that provides
researched components and foundations that detail how an effective school counseling program
should be established and maintained (ASCA, 2012). The organization was founded in 1952, and
established the ASCA: Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) in 2003. The ASCA model is
broken down into four components: 1. Foundation, 2. Delivery, 3. Management, 4. Accountability.

on a school or district s current college readiness practices, and examines annual progress indicators

counselors, and students. This diagnostic tool measures and assesses the students on 1,100 different
items that come from the following dimensions: Academic, Contextual Skills, Key Cognitive

Should College Athletes Be Paid
Samuel Wingert Professor Grimm ENG100G Midterm Research Paper 18 October 2012
Collegiate Level Pay to play? That s the question being fiercely debated on campuses and across
the college conferences. And it s shocking to see the level of support the answer yes is getting
because the idea tears at the very nature of amateur college sports (Should). There are views from
both sides as this is quite the controversial subject in the sporting world. Looking at the facts, it is
difficult to decide either way. First off, we must decide what qualifies under the pay to play
category. There are numerous ways that college athletes can be compensated for their time
dedicated to the sport. They consist of scholarships, free tuition,... Show more content on

To be fair to the whole university, you would think that they should pay all varsity sports teams.
Let s be real here; men s football and basketball teams are usually the programs that make the
most money for universities, so if football players and basketball players got paid, does that
mean that the men s lacrosse and baseball players would get paid too? (Pros and Cons). What
happens when college athletes decide to make themselves eligible for the professional league
before they graduate? This could cause a wrinkle in the system if you create a contract. Will it
be able to broken or does the athlete have to stay all four years? The big factor that all athletes
fear is the risk of injury. Some feel that players should have some sort of compensation while
injured. Is it worth the college spending money on an athlete who may not play up to his ability
since becoming hurt? A Nebraska state senator who is a longtime supporter of providing
stipends to college athletes submitted a bill in 2003 to allow players of Nebraska s football team
to be paid. He stated that they are unpaid workers who just aren t amateurs. They call it a
scholarship but he wanted to see the athletes to have some spendable money. An Oklahoma
university football player said that he plays for one of the top football schools in the country and is
struggling to get groceries every month.

American Auto Controversy
The American Autobahn Believe it or not there is a road system in which there is no speed
limit. It is called the autobahn and is located in Germany. However unlike many people think it
is not a single road but rather a series of motorways that stretch across all of Germany. The
autobahn is not without restrictions though. There are in some areas speed limits set during
inclement weather. There is also rules such as it is illegal to stop on the side of the road and
pass other vehicles if you are to the right of them. Now this sounds so great that the obvious
American thing to do is to steal the idea that many have already proposed. It is only a matter of
time until politicians throughout America will succumb to the pressures to create a similar system
of roads around the nation. It would certainly increase the revenue for nearby businesses due to
the newfound tourism. The new road system would be safer in comparison to a speed regulated
highway. Germany s autobahn for example has 6 traffic related deaths per 100,00 in comparison to

Many would like to see route 66 restored to it s former glory and made into an autobahn, but it is
impractical. I would suggest interstate 80. It is fairly flat and straight and with some work
could be a fantastic candidate for an American autobahn. Some upgrades may be necessary such
as repaving rough areas and increasing efficiency at intersections, but possible nonetheless. One
very promising area of this road happens to cross the Bonneville salt flats, already known for it s
rich history of speed. A toll however would be necessary to keeping the road in an exceptional
condition to insure the safety of the drivers. Another proposition may be an additional driving
class that would be mandatory or at the least offered to drivers in the area to increase safety. This
road if successful would be the beginning of a new era in American motorcar

The question of how long it will take a spacecraft to reach Mars depends on where we are
because both planets are constantly orbiting the Sun. According to Space.Com, on average, it
would take around 162 days to reach Mars [3] Because the Mars and Earth is so far away, we
can expect that there are many differences among the two planets. Living on Earth is as
comfortable as it is, and so this leads us to the question as to why we would want to risk our
health, and our life to go out into space and do explorations Different people have different say
in this matter, but Fox News has generated multiple reasons why we should have human
explorations on Mars. The first and most obvious reason would be because we want more
scientific knowledge and discover more about the Mars. We were able to gain many knowledge
about the Mars through robotic explorations, but scientist and others aspiring scientist have strong
enthusiasm that humans can do a more thorough exploration on the mars. The hopes of exploring
Mars and other planets will then inspire the younger generations to become more aware and

is known that Mars is the planet that is most similar to our planet Earth, so this challenges us to

ABSTRACT Globalization refers to the process of integration of the world into one huge market. It

Globalization happens through three channels: trade in goods services, movement of capital and

This is all the more crucial because even if we leave out the unambiguous supporters of
globalization in its present form those who hold that it is purely beneficial, and the benefits will
trickle down automatically to the poor there are still widely differing conceptions of this process.
Those who either oppose globalization, or are anxious about its potentially detrimental effects on
employment and poverty, encompass a wide political spectrum. The extreme right oppose it from
the standpoint of economic and cultural nationalism, and liberals might deplore the loss of national
sovereignty because it reduces the effectiveness of state intervention to regulate capital and labour,
alleviate poverty and so forth.

Enron executives Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling were found guilty of fraud and conspiracy. Andrew

The three of them have been called sociopaths. For instance, when Skilling took the stand he almost

When Skilling was hired, the staff that he motivated as being innovative and independent, used

with his problem. All he needed was parents that just had time to talk to him and give him a little
leeway at times. Communication is a downfall displayed in Tyler s short story that is very
realistic of parenting that always leads to bigger problems. It is so common for parents to be
too busy with their jobs and lives to give their children all the attention and love needed. I feel
Tyler truly conveyed a real life message in writing Teenage Wasteland. It was very disturbing to
see throughout the story how Cal, the tutor becomes so controlling. Cal at first seemed
reasonable in his method of tutoring Donny. Donny came home so happy sometimes after his
tutoring sessions. Yet gradually the tension sets in again and Donny is back to his old
troublesome self. Cal tells Daisy and Matt not to worry about Donny s slack of performance. Cal
even tells Daisy to let him handle the school if they call and complain about Donny s grades.

This shows their inability to support their local civilians. Making it a key reason that Russia has
been placed under increased United States sanctions in the past. More recently Russia has been
looked at for increased sanctions due to their apparent meddling in the United States previous
election. It is hard to determine if previous sanctions greatly impact the economy and country as
a whole. It is said that it could simply be the fall in oil prices because, Sanctions hit at the same
time the price of oil, a major export and source of revenue for the Russian government, dropped
dramatically, by more than 60% between the start of 2014 and the end of 2015 (Nelson, 2017).
Even with the fall in oil prices the sanctions had to play some role in the dropped revenue and down
grading economy. With these sanctions affecting the financial situation that Russia is experiencing
it does not change the fact that they are still treating their civilians with poor respect for their
human rights. Human rights are not the only reason increased sanctions could be considered,
another reason could be their support for terrorism exportation. Second, sanctions can be increased
due to terrorism exportation. Terrorism exportations can be described as state sponsored terrorism.
Which basically means that a country is supporting violence against their civilians or other
countries civilians. Iran is being considered for increased sanctions due to their support of terrorism.

Porter s Five Forces Industry Competition
Porter s Five Forces
Industry Competition / Intensity of Rivalry:
As with every industry and business, there is competition. In the case of the craft beer industry, the
competition is medium and growing. From challenging the big macro breweries, to battling against
new incoming brewery businesses, the craft beer industry is absolutely on the radar for
competition. Macro breweries are still the largest competitors with craft breweries. The major
player in the craft beer industry, according to IBISWorld, is The Boston Beer Company. It holds a
market share in the overall beer industry of only 2.7%, and a revenue of $885.5 million in 2014. In

If consumers prefer a specific beer and keep asking for it at bars, which only have a specific
amount of taps, will put that beer on more often to suit the increased demand. This makes the beer
and the brewery more popular, all the while intensifying the rivalry for bar space.
Suppliers:
The suppliers for craft beer include the source of the ingredients and the source of the materials
used in production. The craft beer industry relies on responsible, dependable, fresh supplies from
different industries to make production and distribution possible. The suppliers for production
include various industries for the basic ingredients; wheat, barley, soybean, corn, yeast, malt, nuts,
sugar and water. Other suppliers for distribution include the packaging industry, which consists of
aluminum, glass, cardboard, and containers. Smaller companies face a financial barrier here when
attempting to make flavorful beers that require high priced raw materials.
The lofty prices of high quality ingredients often act as a barrier to newcomers seeking to establish
a niche in the market. Lastly, the printing industry also plays a role as a supplier by printing labels.
Due to the uniqueness craft brewing methods, not all batches turn out the same, so the industry may
have to charge higher prices based on the cost of production. Since each craft beer style has a
unique measuring and brewing method, there is a large variety

Summary Of The Twelfth Century By Marie De France s...
There are an abundance of stories about fairytales and a knightly men sweeping women off their
feet and rescuing them. This has become a stereotype for the new world as before in earlier times.
The male handles the financial circumstances; they are the ones that save the day when things are
going horrible for the female. The knight in shining armor, for example, always saves the lady.
This is shown in fairytales like Cinderella, written in the 17th century and Rapunzel, written in the
19th century. No matter what the problem is, the man has to save the day or else he is not a man.
In Marie de Frances Lanval, written in the twelfth century, the witty lai satirically challenges the
stereotypical roles of women. Evidently, every story does not contend male dominance. Also the
other characters do not live up to their expectations either; falling short of their glory. The women
in the story are given important roles, and genderroles and position roles are interchanged. Lanval
portrays the best man in King Arthur s court, possessing characteristics such as honesty and he
serves King Arthur very well (France 122). Lanval deals with being overlooked by the king and
for his generosity, bravery, and beauty is envied. Usually knightly men who carry themselves very
well are put on a pedestal, with the highest honor and loved by everyone. Lanval receives no
recognition and stoops into depression. The character is defined more by his weakness in monetary
value, popularity, and

How Collective Bargaining Agreements Effect The Players...
Most people around the world enjoy sporting events. These events are considered great
entertainment options. So what does professional baseball, football, basketball, and most other
companies around the United States have in common? If you guessed Collective Bargaining
Agreements (CBA), Unions, arbitration and strikes/work stoppages you are absolutely correct. In
the coming paragraphs, labor relations within the world of sports will be discussed from their

Collective Bargaining Agreement? CBA is a written and signed document between a company and
a labor organization specifying the terms and conditions of employment for a specified period of

bargaining is a continuous process, beginning with the negotiation of a contract through the entirety
of the contract with almost daily interpretation and administration of its provisions. Collective
bargaining and unions have had a considerable effect on fans through professional sports. Because
of these contract negotiations, athletes in recent years have benefited from an increasing share of
ticket and television profits. Collective bargaining has resulted in strikes and lockouts and has
disrupted several seasons through cancellation of games or even ending a season. The televising of
sporting events has become the largest source of revenue

Theoretical Foundations Of Advanced Nursing

MN502: Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Nursing
Dr. Phelps Introduction
Concepts are ideas that can assist nurses with understanding various situations. This enables
researchers seeking scientific theories in order to identify and measure theory components. It is
best to have clear concepts in order to prevent misunderstandings. Confusion can hinder patient s
knowledge when providing patient education. Poor communication can lead to unintentional non
compliance and delay recovery processes (Stewart, Schofield, Elliott, Torrance, Leveille, 2014).
Pain
Young, old, male, female, we all feel degrees of pain for a variety of reasons. Pain is real and it is
different for everyone. Pain can hold a magnitude of negative effects for all. Medication and non
medication interventions are approaches that can lessen pain. To understand pain, and how to
manage pain, one should explore the true concept of pain.
Pain can refer to an emotional, psychological, or spiritual state; also, pain may result from a
physical condition. The purpose of this paper is to study the concept of pain and to comprehend
the pathophysiology of physical pain. Physical pain can be acute or chronic, mild or severe, dull or
sharp, and in a precise location or referred (Mosby s Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing Health
Professions, 2006). Through understanding this concept, nurses can initiate interventions that will

Being Earnest Comedy Essay
Wilde uses the conventions of comedy to criticize Victorian society; four examples of this are the
use of inversion, the presentation of marriage as a business deal, the use of deception and lies and
the comic conservative ending.
One of the conventions of comedy is inversions of gender roles and Wilde inverts gender roles of
men to the women in the play most powerfully. Lady Bracknell, despite having married an
aristocrat whilst she was poor, controls and dominates her husband. At one point, she tells Algernon
that your uncle would have to dine upstairs, fortunately he is accustomed to that . This implies that
Lord Bracknell is routinely required to miss his own dinner parties and his attendance is entirely

This play criticizes marriages in Victorian society and the aristocratic norm that marriageis more of
a business than for love or happiness. Through these characters Wilde is not only commenting on
the nature of love and marriage, but the place marriage holds in society. During this time in
Victorian society and throughout history, many women married for financial security and social
standing. It was only through their husbands that woman could hope continue living in the lifestyle
to which they were privileged to gain political power. Lady Bracknell s marriage was one of the
marriages that was clearly for business and not for love. Wilde shows how Lady Bracknell has
no emotions for Lord Bracknell; she doesn t even really care about him but only uses him to
increase her own social standing. Similarly, Lady Bracknell also does the same when she tries to
arrange for an eligible suitor for her daughter Gwendolyn, not considering whether Gwendolyn
loves the man or not. He must be in the same social standing as they are and must also belong to
an aristocratic family. Lady Bracknell tells Jack, You can hardly imagine that I and Lord
Bracknell would dream of allowing our only daughter a girl brought up with the utmost care to
marry into a cloak room, and form an alliance with a parcel? Although Jack is rich, he doesn t
have that name and social standing that Lady Bracknell wants rather she is dissatisfied when she
finds out that he was found at a train station inside a handbag! Jack being found inside a handbag
suggests that he was an abandoned baby out of illegitimacy which carried a huge social stigma in
the Victorian era. Such babies were often delivered in secret and abandoned in a public place, like

assumption of risk does not apply. The athletes are however, partially to blame for contributing to
their injuries. Of the 160 athletes surveyed, 30 admitted they had failed to report a concussion.
Failure to report led players to return to action to soon (Hanna, 2010).
The league is still cautious in accepting the risks of concussions, but has slowly implemented new
rule changes to the league in response to concussion management. Rules that dealt with concussion
management were not subject to penalties for years. Eventually penalties were also induced. The
first rules regarding helmet to helmet contact were not implemented until the late 1990s. Before
these rules were introduced coaches and athletes encouraged the contact and ignored the effects
such hits had on athletes. Today more changes are taking place including new helmet designs.
These designs are meant to protect the head more. However, concussions effect the brain and
helmets protect the

Interpretation of Poems by Robert Browning, William Yates,...
The Duke of Ferrara is a character and the speaker in the poem My Last Duchess, by Robert
Browning. The reader witnesses a man that is controlling and whom will destroy anything that he
cannot control. One realizes immediately, the extent of the Duke s need for power in the title and in
the first line when he uses the term My which shows ownership (Browning). The Dukecannot
control the Duchess s spot of joy, (Browning line 21) therefore; he commands to have her killed
(Browning line 45). He still feels the need to control the Duchess, even after death. This control is
revealed when he opens the curtain and declares, (since none puts by / The curtain I have drawn
for you, but I) (Browning line 9 10). The Duke is speaking to a... Show more content on

He asks the sages to help him in this conversion by asking them to consume my heart away
(Yates line 21). This statement makes the reader believe that the speaker is surrendering to and
seeking for a spiritual rebirth from a divine being. The speaker begins to imagine a time, maybe
in the after life, where he can be preserved. He decides he will preserve himself in unnatural
things, such as art when he says, Once out of nature I shall never take / [m]y bodily form from
any natural thing. The speaker eventually becomes satisfied as he pictures himself in the after life
of hammered gold and gold enameling / To keep a drowsy emperor awake, (Yates lines 28 29)
which is immortal. The speaker goes through a sort of emotional transformation.
The poem The Red Wheelbarrow, by William Williams, can be interpreted in several ways. The
first thing that stands out is that it seems as if every line depends on the next. The way Williams
separates each sentence, makes the reader realize that everyone and everything depends on
someone or something else. For example, if the reader reads line 1 3 he/she would think that so
much depends / upon / a red wheel (Williams lines 1 3). However, after reading the next line
barrow (Williams line 4) one learns that it is a red wheelbarrow that so much depends on. The red
wheel depends on the barrow to be a helpful tool; the wheel would be useless without the

Over-Sexization And Over-Sexualization Of Women In The Media
Advertisements in today s society have become increasingly bold, daring and shocking, but that
is one thing that has always stayed the same. The goal of an ad is to catch your eye using
whatever marketing strategy worked at the time, now every ad is laced with sex appeal and porn
like images of men and women, a great majority of the time it is women being put in these greatly
sexual ads, they are placed in contorted poses, with little to no clothes, displaying a product, in
certain ads men are also placed with the women but all too often they are in power positions. These
ads are printed, posted, and shared all over the place, buses, buildings, malls, the internet, etc., but
Due to how women are portrayed in mass media advertisements, over sexualization has become
widely accepted and normalized, this has created harmful standards/stereotypes for women, teens,
and young girls.
The advertisement pictured above was put out by a company called American Apparel, they
have been around for several years, producing clothes for teenage girls and young women. The
ad is two photos layered on one another with the text, New freedom for the student body. As well
as their company name, website info and where the clothing is made. Now, for clarity, we will
call the smaller image in the middle, image one and the background image, image two. To begin,
image one is a polaroid looking photo of a younger looking, white female with brown hair, she is
face down on a mattress wearing only

Switching Techniques Can Be Classified Based On Network...
Switching Techniques: Switching techniques can be classified based on network characteristics.
The main task of switching technique is to establish connection between input and output channel
inside the router. Circuit switched networks reserve a physical path before transmitting the data
packets, while packet switched networks transmit the packets without reserving the entire path.
Packet switched networks for communications within large multi core systems on chip are made for
enhanced performance, scalability, modularity, and design productivity compared to busses and
dedicated signal wires (R. Mutha, 2012). Circuit Switching Technique: In this technique an
electrical interconnection is established between the source and destination and then the message is
transmitted. This technique pre allocates resources or links across more than one hop to the entire
message. Links must be reserved to transmit the entire message. For that a small setup message also
called as a probe is sent into the network and reservation for the links needed to transmit the entire
message or multiple messages is done from the source to the destination. Once the probe reaches the
destination (having successfully allocated the necessary links), the destination sends back an
acknowledgement message to the source. As soon as the source receives the acknowledgement
message, the message will be released by the source then the message can travel quickly through the
network. When the

Dysfunctional Leadership
Dysfunctional leadership suffocate others with coercive power and ego, are unpredictable, and
often lack self awareness about their dysfunction (Shuck, Rose, Bergman, 2015).It has an emphasis
on selfishness, as its primary focus is on the leader s goals and objectives contrasted with the needs
of employees and the greater social organization. The impacts of dysfunctional leadershipare felt in
the outcomes of the organization that undermines the quality of life for individuals who are could
either be internal or external to the organization and undermine their fundamental objectives.
Undesirable organizational consequences are the result of a dysfunctional leader behavior and

Several studies suggest that followers require security, safety, predictability, and group membership
in an unstable world. Certain followers gain from dysfunctional activities making contributions to
the toxic foresight of the leader. Needs for identity, social order, coordination of collective activity,
and cohesion exists at the team level. An expected drive to for individuals to conform to group
norms, impersonate people of high status, and submit to figures of authority is also present. As
such, it is important to differentiate the diverse varieties of vulnerable populations. Some followers
lack well defined self concept and those who share in values of the leader, bystanders who let bad
leadership to take place, and acolytes who are the true believers who subscribe to the destruction.
Collectively, there is a creation of two groups of followers which includes the colluders and the
conformers (Manning Curtis, 2015). Colluders actively take part in the agenda of the dysfunctional
leader whereas conformers obey with the dysfunctional leader due to fear. Both categories of
followers are driven by selfishness though have varying concerns. While colluders pursue personal
advancement through involvement with a dysfunctional leader, including promotion and
prevention inspiration, conformers seek to reduce the outcomes of not going along. The foundation
of conformers susceptibility is on negative self assessments, unmet basic needs, and emotional
immaturity. Conversely, colluders are selfish, ambitious and share the worldviews of the

The Effects Of Agriculture On The Environment
Agriculture is very important, but it also harms the environment if not conducted carefully.
Agriculture is harming the quality of groundwater, the amount of nitrogen applied to the soil, and
causing runoff to go into the ocean . Agriculture is a human activity; it harms the carbon cycle and
the water cycle. Modern agricultural practices have started the process of agricultural pollution.
This process causes the degradation of the ecosystem, land, and environment due to the modern day
byproducts of agriculture. (Conserve Energy Future)
Agriculture contributes to climate change by releasing greenhouse gas emissions which disperse
into the air. According to Will Allen, green farmer extraordinaire, greenhouse gasses along with the
manufacture and use of pesticides and fertilizers, fuel and oil for tractors, equipment, trucking and
shipping, electricity for lighting, cooling, and heating, and emissions of carbon dioxide, methane,
nitrous oxide... make a huge impact on the environment. The end result can be between 25 and 30
percent of the U.S. s overall carbon footprint. The relationship between management of agricultural
and the Geoscience data, along with the results of global climate, will be discussed in the following
paragraphs.
Problem
Agriculture is the practice of farming, which can be anything from growing crops to raising animals
that provide food. Different types of farming impact the environment and ecosystems. The
environment gets affected in

World War I And The Great War
Mass culture by definition refers to the set of ideals and values that develop from a common
exposure to the same media, news sources, music, and art (chegg). It conveys the idea that culture
emerges spontaneously from the masses themselves, like popular art did before the 20th century.
However, post WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals
and values in spreading across the nation. And the term media culture gives reference to the current
western capitalist society that emerged and developed from this 20th century time period under the
influence of mass media. World War I, or the Great War, was one of the bloodiest wars of all time. It
was a war sparked by militarism, alliance, imperialism, and... Show more content on

As president, Wilson was an aggressive progressive and passed lots of protective legislation for
his citizens. With better working conditions and wages accompanied by better workdays, the
middle class was built up and social and economical gaps shrunk. His triple law of privilege, or
Wilson s 3 points, was a key piece of progressive legislation. He lowered the tariff, controlled
banks with the Federal Reserve act and created the F.E.D. to decide interest rates, and controlled big
corporations with anti trust laws. But after the end of the war Americans wanted a change and they
received that with republican senator from Ohio, Warren G. Harding. Harding campaigned on the
slogan of a return to normalcy . Under the Harding administration, normalcy meant a pro business
government, anti tax, and anti regulation (shmoop). A consumer culture was created. A newspaper
reporter stated, The first responsibility of an American to his country is no longer that of a citizen,
but that of a consumer (Understanding the American Promise). Old values were tossed and new
mottos were to spend money rather than save. Mass production fueled corporate profits and
national economic prosperity (Understanding the American Promise). A new culture was founded, a
United States that focused on itself. An American culture was conceived that had fun

Harriet Jacobs And Frederick Douglas
The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas were nothing short of powerful as their
unique resilience reflected a gruesome upbringing that would then influence audiences everywhere.
Immediately the reader is introduced to the gendered distinctions in narratives as Douglas has
letters and statements of prominent men reinforce the validity of his work while Jacobs is forced
to create a pleading tone for acknowledgement of her experience as a female slave. Although slavery
was an excruciating experience that unjustly plagued millions of African Americans, genderroles
and constructs allowed for distinct offenses that forced women to experience unique abuse relative
to their male counterparts. The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas reinforced the
trials of slavery with examples of educational hardship, physical trauma and differing aspirations of
freedom. These factors and a few others such as motherhood and masculinity influenced their
legacy in context of slavery as a gendered experience.
The distinct introduction to each of their lives not only set an impression for the reader but also
serves as a precursor to the different aspirations and dreams of escape that Jacobs and Douglas
distinctly had. Beginning with Jacobs her narrative was written around her scarce time when she
was not tending to household duties and avoiding the unclean images her master regularly imposed
on her. Jacobs did not have informal education as frequent as Douglass and

have caused the faults. We discovered rocks and hiked to different faults were we got to touch

The Library Of The Modern Library
Libraries are an important resource, both to those who use them and to the area in which they
reside. Over the years, libraries have changed from being simple repositories of printed books and
materials. Instead, libraries now are home to ever changing technologies, community meeting
rooms, areas in which children can participate in a variety of activities, and a multitude of other
things, in addition to the previously housed print materials. As the Carnegie libraries of the past,
and other libraries, begin to become less well suited to the mission of the modern library, it is
possible that many library directors may find themselves in a position of being asked to plan a
new building. This is a multi faceted process which must be carefully considered in order to be a
success. While there is no such thing as a perfect library, one which has been carefully thought out
and well designed may more easily gain acceptance by the community. Steps which must be taken
are a consideration of problems with the existing building, the creation of a building team, a
thorough assessment of needs, a determination of how much space is needed, selection of site
location, the design of the library, and a post occupation evaluation. While working in an existing
library, it may not be immediately apparent to the librarianto what extent the current situation is
not ideal. In order to best see these problems, it is often beneficial to take a step back in order to
better see the whole picture and

  • 2. Government Spending of Tax Dollars Essay Government Spending of Tax Dollars Taxes are the dollars that we pay to government to supply the services that are not or can not be provided through the free enterprise system. Taxes have been around since the beginning of organized societies. They come in various forms. Most common are income taxes both federal and local government. These taxes are assessed on the amount of income a person earns. Other taxes come in the form of user taxes; these taxes are imposed on the people that are using the goods being taxed, such as gas tax, alcohol tax, sales tax, and luxury taxes. Property taxes make up the major revenues for local and city governments. Furthering the burden of taxation are taxes that are attached to such bills as utility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for these governments to function there was a need for revenue to meet the expenses incurred by these governments. This need for revenue was met by levying taxes on individuals and businesses. It has always been a question to the population being taxed as to whether or not the government was doing a good job in assessing and managing the money it collected from taxes. Taxes 4 The purpose of this report is to determine if the government is acting fairly in its taxation of the American population, and to point out the waste in government spending. In an article published November 1995, an unknown author explained the need for government revenue by defending what the revenue supplies for the people. In America we live within a free enterprise society. A free enterprise system is based on the idea of competition is good and that only the most efficient businesses will survive. The free enterprise system works with the idea that the consumer is somewhat knowledgeable about the products they buy. However, in today s modern world the consumer cannot be always be expected to make an informed decision about something. This is where federal laws are put in place to protect the interest of the public. Examples of such laws are regulations covering quality and safety of home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I think of them, I think of Rudyard Kipling s words, East is East. West is West. Never the twain shall meet. Even though they have the same parents, their considerable differences in looks, personalities, and attitude toward life reflect the differences between Eastern and Western cultures. Introduction The goals of the organization cannot be fulfilled without the skills or talent of the employees and a direction to apply them. The employees will have goals, actions, and behaviors to bring the company closer to the organization s vision. Moving forward requires direction so that new and current employees stay on track. Appraising an employee may affect their base pay, promotional status, and retention decisions. The employees who are found to have deficiencies may be identified and corrected when their appraisal is interpreted. This can also reinforce the employees existing strengths. Those who may use the different methods to evaluate the employee s performance include the immediate supervisor, peers, committees, anonymous subordinates, and a 360 degree feedback, which is all or some of the personnel listed and others outside the organization the employee has direct contact. The simplest method is the graphic rating scale. It lists several job dimensions or traits, competencies, or specific goals, and a range of performance values like below expectations, above average, and role model. The supervisor is the evaluator who then totals the rating for the overall evaluation. For companies who have a number of employees to rate may elect to use the alternation ranking method. During the process, the employees rated are in a list. The staff unknown is crossed out. The dimensions are listed and the best performing employee is mentioned at the top and worst at the bottom, then alternates to the last employee. Similar to the alternation method, is the paired comparison method. Listing all the traits and employees, the rater puts a plus or negative next to the employee who pairs with the trait. The employee with the most plus signs is the highest ranking. The force distribution method may work for some larger companies that can afford to terminate lower ranking employees while others would rather work to build those on the bottom percent up to a higher rate on the ... • 5. A Short Note On The Uses And Functions Of A Server On... BIND in Linux BIND (Berkeley Internet name domain) is the most commonly used DNS (domain name system) server on the Internet, and it is the defacto standard on Linux and other Unix like operating systems. DNS is the name resolution (i.e., translation) system that permits users to locate computers on a network by using their domain name rather than their IP addresses. IP addresses, which form the basis of addressing on the Internet and most other networks, each can contain as many as 12 digits under the currently mainstream IPv4 addressing scheme (or as many as 32 hexadecimal digits under the next generation IPv6 addressing scheme). It can be difficult for humans to remember such addresses, but it is relatively easy for them to remember domain names, which typically use alphabetic characters and consist of words, abbreviations or acronyms. BIND provides an openly redistributable reference implementation of the major components of the DNS, including a DNS server (called named), a DNS resolver library and tools for verifying the proper operation of the DNS server. The resolver library is a collection of functions written in the C programming language that provides hostname to IP address and IP address to hostname lookup services.BIND was originally written at University of California at Berkeley (UCB) as a graduate student project under a grant from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA). • 6. Taking a Look at Sports Psychology Don t think of a pink elephant. Come on don t let the picture creep into your mind. Stop thinking of that... Pink Elephant (Gardner). It has been proven that putting a don t or a not into a statement can cause the brain to have difficulties in interpreting the statement. In sports, players tend to tell themselves not to do something. In soccer, a goalie might tell him/herself to not let the other team score a goal, and then the team does. Or in tennis, players tell themselves not to serve the ball into the net, and then they do just that. Sometimes they tell themselves to do something, and that athlete might end up doing the unthinkable. With three seconds left in the game, a basketball player might take the three point shot and win the game, even though they have never been able to make that shot before. These types of scenario tend to happen all the time. Psychology, or the mental game in sports, is so important it can completely change the outcome of the game. Sports Psychology has become more and more influential in understanding how to play the game. Serious athletes are now training their mind just as much as they train their body. They have found that to be a champion, it now takes more than just being fit and having talent. As the pressure to succeed continues to increase, athletes continually add both physical and emotional stress to their bodies. Bob Dylan said I woke up this mornin There were tears in my bed They killed a man I really loved Shot him through the head (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is the beginning showing his tribute to George and how sad it was for a man to die that he really loved. The next point he makes is trying to say he is innocent and should not have been lock up and had the key thrown away. Bob Dylan said, Sent him off to prison For a seventy dollar robbery Closed the door behind him And they threw away the key (Arnove Zinn, pg. 492). This is showing how he is using the first time he was arrested to make him look innocent when the time he was killed in jail was when he been convicted of killing a guard. Dylan said Prison guards, they cursed him As they watched him from above But they were frightened of his power They were scared of his love. Lord, Lord, So they cut George Jackson down. Lord, Lord, They laid him in the ground. (Arnove Zinn, pg. 493). This the point he is showing that the guards killed him because they were scared of his power that he had and the love that he could give and that they had to get rid of him from taken over them from all of the people reading his book. That after he was killed it started revolution in other prisons because of his book that everyone read and from him being killed. That this is showing how the government was losing control and that they had to get rid of him, so he would not take power away from the government anymore. This just shows how Bob Dylan main points was to play tribute to him and to make look innocent and to be a very powerful and loving man that will be missed. You can use this in argument to show how much he will be missed. You can also use it show how power he was that it made Bobo Dylan write a song about the guy. Dale Carnegie s How On Win Friends And Influence People Taylor Varrato MCB Sec. 7 30 November 2015 Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and Influence People I will never forget my first MCB lecture. A large syllabus was presented, one that seemed to be jam packed with deadlines, reading assignments, quizzes, and to my surprise extra credit assignments. Upon hearing that one of the extra credit assignments consisted of reading a book published in 1937, I was not too thrilled. However, after skimming through the first few pages of How to Win Friends and Influence People, I became instantly intrigued and skimming turned into close reading. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course I never meant any harm, but there have been several periods of time when she has resented me for it. Not only have I made others resent me at times, but I have resented others for being criticized. Just recently, I received a B on an English paper that I put hours into. Obviously, I am not the best writer, but I put a lot of work into that paper and consulted with the professor multiple times before handing it in. Now, I understand that constructive criticism is necessary in order to enhance one s writing skills, but the professor had absolutely nothing good to say about my writing. This made me resent class, resent seeing her, resent doing reading assignments, and above all resent writing. The key word here is resent. Carnegie sums this up well by saying, Criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person s precious pride, hurts his sense of importance, and arouses resentment (23). This ties together two points, the emphasis on one s sense of importance and resentment. Going off of this idea of criticism, I like how Carnegie touched upon it later in the book. Another principle of his is: Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person. This is such a key principle because, as stated above, criticism is necessary in some cases. The hard part about criticism is that it can invoke feelings of resentment. Therefore, in order to provide criticism in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot T.S. Eliot s most famous poem The Wasteland, a grim picture of post war London is analyzed as being the most important poetic work of the twentieth century. The first glance at this poem leads one to the conclusion that the content of this piece is bleak and depressing. The assumption can be made that Eliot has diagnosed his society with a terminal disease, which he chooses to describe through his poem. After further analyzing The Wasteland it can be seen that out of the dust of this barren place there shines a light of hope. In this decayed hole among the mountains/In the faint moonlight, the grass is singing (361 62). The decaying world being serenaded by the grass under the moonlight reinforces the idea that out of desolation, something wonderful can be found or created. Eliot scatters The Wasteland with motifs in the setting that directly contrast to the fertile periods of society in previous years. Eliot intentionally manipulates an obscure water motif in order to illustrate nature and life. Just like water is constantly altered in structure through its path, Eliot s poem continually changes due to his literary structure of writing: stream of consciousness. It is strange to think of a description of a barren land being writhe with water. Eliot discusses a drought in a desolate dessert, yet also talks about the abundance of it in the drowning of the Phoenician Sailor. He seemingly contradicts himself in his discussion. Water is a symbol of fertility, how can this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Lewis (2013) while it is probable that they first developed developed in Africa, it also . . . seems likely that H. erectus first arose in East Africa and then very quickly migrated to other continents ; however, it is hard to prove this hypothesis as new fossils are found (p. 236). While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the majority share the same range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust bodies weighing more than 100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is 700 to 1250 cm(^3). The most distinct characteristic of H. erectus is its cranial shape. The cranium displays a thick cranial bone, large brow ridges, a pointy nuchal torus at the posterior, low forehead development, a wide cranium base, and finally a sagittal keel (Lewis et al., 2013). According to The First Humans, environments during the Early Pleistocene fluctuated, but they tended to be more open and wet than the Pliocene environments before them. Thus, it was warmer. • 12. Commodity Fetishism and Its Impact on Contemporary Society... What is commodity fetishism as defined by cultural and media theorists? Identify and analyse three images that demonstrate the way commodity fetishism is impacting on contemporary society and culture. Commodities are defined as things that are bought and sold in a social system of exchange. (Sturken Cartwright, 2009, p. 279 ) The concept of commodity culture is intricately allied with the idea that we construct our identities through the consumer products that inhabit our lives (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The idea of a commodity culture has been described by media theorist Stuart Ewen as a commodity self. (Sturken Cartwright 2009, p. 279) The process of making something seem more appealing is used to promote and sell the product. Consumers purchase Calvin Klein jeans because they are a designer label and are promoted as being fashionable and worn by celebrities. Consumers are not purchasing the Calvin Klein jeans because they were mass produced in a different country or because of the people who produced them. This example relates back to the Frankfurt school theory that commodities are hollowed out objects that propagated a loss of identity and erode our sense of history. • 13. Servant Leadership By James C. Hunter s The Servant Servant Leadership and its Application to Nursing Practice The basis of the servant leadership theory is that in order to be a good leader; one must be a servant, first (Hunter, 1998). Although, the concept of servant leadership can be applied to any field, many nurses identify with the servant leadership style the most. James C. Hunter s book, The Servant, portrays a difficult journey of understanding this concept, while also addressing many of the main components of servant leadership. In this paper, I will discuss the concept of servant leadership and how reading about this concept has helped me reach my goals to become a knowledgeable and professional nurse. Definitions and Background The term, servant leadership was first coined in 1970 by Robert K. Greenleaf (Marquis Huston, 2015). The concept was introduced in Greenleaf s essay, The Servant as Leader (Greenleaf, 1991). In Greenleaf s essay he mentions that a servant leader focuses on the growth, as well as the wellbeing of the people and the communities that they belong in (Greenleaf, 1991). A servant leader helps others work at their best, which I believe results in authority for the servant leader. Hunter s book mentions this when a student discovers that the right to be called a leader starts out with having the proper will. With the proper will, comes the decision to love others (Hunter, 1998). He defines loving others as the ability to meeting the needs of the subordinate, this leads to ... On January 26, 1950 the Republic of India was proclaimed and it drafted a constitution. The first democratic elections were held in 1952. However the Hindus and Muslims were not united and colonial India was divided into Muslim Pakistan and Hindu India (History, 2010). In contrast to the non violent Indian revolution the American Revolution was a violent struggle for independence from Britain. The British victory in the French and Indian War left Britain s resources stretched thin due to the fact that its land holding had increased in size. The war was also expensive and drained the British coffers. In order to remedy this problem American colonist were forced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this time in Victorian society and throughout history, many women married for financial security and social standing. It was only through their husbands that woman could hope continue living in the lifestyle to which they were privileged to gain political power. Lady Bracknell s marriage was one of the marriages that was clearly for business and not for love. Wilde shows how Lady Bracknell has no emotions for Lord Bracknell; she doesn t even really care about him but only uses him to increase her own social standing. Similarly, Lady Bracknell also does the same when she tries to arrange for an eligible suitor for her daughter Gwendolyn, not considering whether Gwendolyn loves the man or not. He must be in the same social standing as they are and must also belong to an aristocratic family. Lady Bracknell tells Jack, You can hardly imagine that I and Lord Bracknell would dream of allowing our only daughter a girl brought up with the utmost care to marry into a cloak room, and form an alliance with a parcel? Although Jack is rich, he doesn t have that name and social standing that Lady Bracknell wants rather she is dissatisfied when she finds out that he was found at a train station inside a handbag! Jack being found inside a handbag suggests that he was an abandoned baby out of illegitimacy which carried a huge social stigma in the Victorian era. Such babies were often delivered in secret and abandoned in a public place, like train stations as Jack s situation perfectly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it is the leagues duty to care for its athletes. The assumption of risk could also become a defense for the league. The NFL players knew that football presented risks to their safety. Football is a contact sport and several risk factors are involved in the game (Hanna, 2010). In relation to concussions, the NFL players have to be knowledgeable of all the risks involved. Because they were not fully made aware of the risks of concussion, because of lack of information, assumption of risk does not apply. The athletes are however, partially to blame for contributing to their injuries. Of the 160 athletes surveyed, 30 admitted they had failed to report a concussion. Failure to report led players to return to action to soon (Hanna, 2010). The league is still cautious in accepting the risks of concussions, but has slowly implemented new rule changes to the league in response to concussion management. Rules that dealt with concussion management were not subject to penalties for years. Eventually penalties were also induced. The first rules regarding helmet to helmet contact were not implemented until the late 1990s. Before these rules were introduced coaches and athletes encouraged the contact and ignored the effects such hits had on athletes. Today more changes are taking place including new helmet designs. These designs are meant to protect the head more. However, concussions effect the brain and helmets protect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Interpretation of Poems by Robert Browning, William Yates,... The Duke of Ferrara is a character and the speaker in the poem My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning. The reader witnesses a man that is controlling and whom will destroy anything that he cannot control. One realizes immediately, the extent of the Duke s need for power in the title and in the first line when he uses the term My which shows ownership (Browning). The Dukecannot control the Duchess s spot of joy, (Browning line 21) therefore; he commands to have her killed (Browning line 45). He still feels the need to control the Duchess, even after death. This control is revealed when he opens the curtain and declares, (since none puts by / The curtain I have drawn for you, but I) (Browning line 9 10). The Duke is speaking to a... This statement makes the reader believe that the speaker is surrendering to and seeking for a spiritual rebirth from a divine being. The speaker begins to imagine a time, maybe in the after life, where he can be preserved. He decides he will preserve himself in unnatural things, such as art when he says, Once out of nature I shall never take / [m]y bodily form from any natural thing. The speaker eventually becomes satisfied as he pictures himself in the after life of hammered gold and gold enameling / To keep a drowsy emperor awake, (Yates lines 28 29) which is immortal. The speaker goes through a sort of emotional transformation. The poem The Red Wheelbarrow, by William Williams, can be interpreted in several ways. The first thing that stands out is that it seems as if every line depends on the next. The way Williams separates each sentence, makes the reader realize that everyone and everything depends on someone or something else. For example, if the reader reads line 1 3 he/she would think that so much depends / upon / a red wheel (Williams lines 1 3). However, after reading the next line barrow (Williams line 4) one learns that it is a red wheelbarrow that so much depends on. • 41. Over-Sexization And Over-Sexualization Of Women In The Media Advertisements in today s society have become increasingly bold, daring and shocking, but that is one thing that has always stayed the same. The goal of an ad is to catch your eye using whatever marketing strategy worked at the time, now every ad is laced with sex appeal and porn like images of men and women, a great majority of the time it is women being put in these greatly sexual ads, they are placed in contorted poses, with little to no clothes, displaying a product, in certain ads men are also placed with the women but all too often they are in power positions. These ads are printed, posted, and shared all over the place, buses, buildings, malls, the internet, etc., but Due to how women are portrayed in mass media advertisements, over sexualization has become widely accepted and normalized, this has created harmful standards/stereotypes for women, teens, and young girls. • 42. Switching Techniques Can Be Classified Based On Network... Switching Techniques: Switching techniques can be classified based on network characteristics. The main task of switching technique is to establish connection between input and output channel inside the router. Circuit switched networks reserve a physical path before transmitting the data packets, while packet switched networks transmit the packets without reserving the entire path. Packet switched networks for communications within large multi core systems on chip are made for enhanced performance, scalability, modularity, and design productivity compared to busses and dedicated signal wires (R. Mutha, 2012). Circuit Switching Technique: In this technique an electrical interconnection is established between the source and destination and then the message is transmitted. This technique pre allocates resources or links across more than one hop to the entire message. Links must be reserved to transmit the entire message. For that a small setup message also called as a probe is sent into the network and reservation for the links needed to transmit the entire message or multiple messages is done from the source to the destination. Once the probe reaches the destination (having successfully allocated the necessary links), the destination sends back an acknowledgement message to the source. As soon as the source receives the acknowledgement message, the message will be released by the source then the message can travel quickly through the network. When the ... Certain followers gain from dysfunctional activities making contributions to the toxic foresight of the leader. Needs for identity, social order, coordination of collective activity, and cohesion exists at the team level. An expected drive to for individuals to conform to group norms, impersonate people of high status, and submit to figures of authority is also present. As such, it is important to differentiate the diverse varieties of vulnerable populations. Some followers lack well defined self concept and those who share in values of the leader, bystanders who let bad leadership to take place, and acolytes who are the true believers who subscribe to the destruction. Collectively, there is a creation of two groups of followers which includes the colluders and the conformers (Manning Curtis, 2015). Colluders actively take part in the agenda of the dysfunctional leader whereas conformers obey with the dysfunctional leader due to fear. Both categories of followers are driven by selfishness though have varying concerns. While colluders pursue personal advancement through involvement with a dysfunctional leader, including promotion and prevention inspiration, conformers seek to reduce the outcomes of not going along. Conversely, colluders are selfish, ambitious and share the worldviews of the dysfunctional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Effects Of Agriculture On The Environment Agriculture is very important, but it also harms the environment if not conducted carefully. Agriculture is harming the quality of groundwater, the amount of nitrogen applied to the soil, and causing runoff to go into the ocean . Agriculture is a human activity; it harms the carbon cycle and the water cycle. Modern agricultural practices have started the process of agricultural pollution. This process causes the degradation of the ecosystem, land, and environment due to the modern day byproducts of agriculture. (Conserve Energy Future) Agriculture contributes to climate change by releasing greenhouse gas emissions which disperse into the air. According to Will Allen, green farmer extraordinaire, greenhouse gasses along with the manufacture and use of pesticides and fertilizers, fuel and oil for tractors, equipment, trucking and shipping, electricity for lighting, cooling, and heating, and emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide... make a huge impact on the environment. The end result can be between 25 and 30 percent of the U.S. s overall carbon footprint. The relationship between management of agricultural and the Geoscience data, along with the results of global climate, will be discussed in the following paragraphs. However, post WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals and values in spreading across the nation. And the term media culture gives reference to the current western capitalist society that emerged and developed from this 20th century time period under the influence of mass media. With better working conditions and wages accompanied by better workdays, the middle class was built up and social and economical gaps shrunk. He lowered the tariff, controlled banks with the Federal Reserve act and created the F.E.D. to decide interest rates, and controlled big corporations with anti trust laws. • 46. Harriet Jacobs And Frederick Douglas The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas were nothing short of powerful as their unique resilience reflected a gruesome upbringing that would then influence audiences everywhere. Immediately the reader is introduced to the gendered distinctions in narratives as Douglas has letters and statements of prominent men reinforce the validity of his work while Jacobs is forced to create a pleading tone for acknowledgement of her experience as a female slave. Although slavery was an excruciating experience that unjustly plagued millions of African Americans, genderroles and constructs allowed for distinct offenses that forced women to experience unique abuse relative to their male counterparts. The narratives of Harriet Jacobs and Frederick Douglas reinforced the trials of slavery with examples of educational hardship, physical trauma and differing aspirations of freedom. These factors and a few others such as motherhood and masculinity influenced their legacy in context of slavery as a gendered experience. The distinct introduction to each of their lives not only set an impression for the reader but also serves as a precursor to the different aspirations and dreams of escape that Jacobs and Douglas distinctly had. Beginning with Jacobs her narrative was written around her scarce time when she was not tending to household duties and avoiding the unclean images her master regularly imposed on her. • 48. The Library Of The Modern Library Libraries are an important resource, both to those who use them and to the area in which they reside. Over the years, libraries have changed from being simple repositories of printed books and materials. Instead, libraries now are home to ever changing technologies, community meeting rooms, areas in which children can participate in a variety of activities, and a multitude of other things, in addition to the previously housed print materials. As the Carnegie libraries of the past, and other libraries, begin to become less well suited to the mission of the modern library, it is possible that many library directors may find themselves in a position of being asked to plan a new building. This is a multi faceted process which must be carefully considered in order to be a success. While there is no such thing as a perfect library, one which has been carefully thought out and well designed may more easily gain acceptance by the community. Steps which must be taken are a consideration of problems with the existing building, the creation of a building team, a thorough assessment of needs, a determination of how much space is needed, selection of site location, the design of the library, and a post occupation evaluation. While working in an existing library, it may not be immediately apparent to the librarianto what extent the current situation is not ideal. In order to best see these problems, it is often beneficial to take a step back in order to better see the whole picture and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
