Both World Wars resulted in massive death and destruction as well as redrawn maps with losing sides losing territory. They also changed political structures by expanding government power and creating international organizations. New powers emerged like the U.S. after both wars and the Soviet Union after WWII. Societies changed with women gaining more power and colonial subjects pushing for independence.
