2. Anton Chekhov Lady With The Dog
The Role of the Setting in Chekhov ?s ?The Lady with the Dog ?
It is nearly a universal truth that any good piece of literature contains well developed characters and
most authors achieve this by providing background and dialogue for the main character ?s that helps
the reader to identify with each character. In ?The Lady with the Dog ? however, Anton Chekhov
expresses the metamorphosis of Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna, as well as their relationship, not through
dialogue, but by providing symbolism throughout the setting of the story. From the first scene through
the end of the story the setting plays a crucial role in expressing the emotions of the individual
characters as well as the blossoming relationship between them.

(00). In reality, Gurov has shown Anna his ?real self ? through his true love for her.
Another example of Chekhov ?s use of the setting for foreshadowing and to express his character ?s
feeling occurs when the two have gone their separate ways. Gurov leaves the hot, dusty town of Yalta
for his home in Moscow. As soon as he arrives in Moscow it ?was beginning to look like winter ?(00),
this is the first evidence that life without Anna is immediately getting worse. Gurov thinks that he will
soon forget about Anna, however as the winter progresses Anna ?s memory does not fade. Instead it
becomes Gurov ?s life, he thinks about her night and day, his mind sees her everywhere. He realizes
how shallow his life in Moscow is without Anna, how empty his life without love is; he feels like
there is ?nowhere to escape to [in Moscow] ?(00) and decides to visit Anna in the town of S.
Following Gurov ?s encounter with Anna in the theatre, in which she promised to come to Moscow to
see him, Chekhov again uses the setting to express his characters ? mood.
One winter morning he went to see [Anna in Moscow] as usual. His daughter was with him, for her
school was on the way and he thought he might as well see her to it.
It is forty degrees, said Gurov to his daughter, and yet it is snowing. You see it is only above freezing

3. The Father In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
The road by Cormac McCarthy follows a boy and his father as they venture across a quiet, wet,
traitorous, post apocalyptic setting of earth. McCarthy creates the imagery of a rough, weathered west
coast as the boy and his father slowly attempt to fight their way to warmer weather as winter starts to
fall. McCarthy s, the road is terrifying yet complex and mysterious at the same time powered by
McCarthy s emotions and visions of the 2006 fight against terror in the united states.
McCarthy s inquisitive and unique style of writing is continued in this novel through the use of
grammatical errors and prolonged sentences, he does this to bend the readers mind into imagining a
long, grueling road with no breaks or ease as this closely resembles the boy and his fathers journey
throughout the novel. The development of the relationship between the father and the son also chops
and changes throughout the text. It begins with the son being very reliant on his father to take care and
nourish him with attention and knowledge The father s loving efforts to shepherd his son are made
that much more wrenching by the unavailability of food, shelter, safety, companionship or hope in
most places where they scavenge to survive, therefore the son is forced to grow ... Show more content

4. Critical Role Of Disease Prevention In The United States
People living with prevalent chronic conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, and
chronic lung disease account for 75% of healthcare expenditures in the United States (Ahn, Basu,
Smith, Luohua, Loring, Whitelaw, Ory, 2013) . Preventing disease has the potential to significantly
reduce healthcare cost. Healthy people do not visit the doctor s office or emergency room as much as
an individual with a chronic disease or illness, which decreases healthcare cost. It is important that
people are educated on how to live a healthy lifestyle, and make better choices in order to prevent
disease and illness from occurring.
The reorientation of primary health care towards prevention is fundamental to addressing the rising
burden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primary prevention stops the disease from occurring. Several gaps in the healthcare system exist, and
patients are not receiving preventative care and screenings to prevent mortality and morbidity (Owens,
Beckles, Ho, Gorrell, Brady, and Kaftarian, 2008). It should be the individual s responsibility to
maintain a healthy lifestyle, but patients depend on their doctors to provide step by step instruction on
how to stay healthy. Many medical physicians do not promote disease prevention and health
promotion. Instead, prescription medications and surgery are the only treatments being offered. Dr. Oz
stated on one of his shows that he was trained to always persuade the patient to have surgery. It was
called heal with steel. Medication can sometimes cause worse symptoms than the disease itself. Many
people are turning to naturopathic or holistic doctors that provide natural treatments to their
conditions. Functional medicine physicians focus on the root cause of the problem, and treat the
disease with supplements and diet changes. The goal of a functional medicine doctor is to reverse
disease, and teach the patients how to live a healthy life style forever. Diseases that have been reversed
are rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, thyroid conditions, chohn s disease, cancer, and many
others. Googling Chris beats cancer tells the

5. Synthesis Of Pnitroaniline From Aniline Essay
This experiment takes a longer time then other experiments, taking approximately three weeks to
complete. It involves a three step synthesis to make pnitroaniline from aniline and then we will be
characterizing our product using the new and useful technique of thin layer chromatography (TLC).
We will not be doing the first part of this experiment only parts two and three.
Electrophiles are reagents which are attracted to other electrons and in order to bond to nucleophiles,
they accept electron pairs. Electrophiles attack benzene and this results in hydrogen substitution.
Nonetheless, this isn t thermodynamically favoured due to a sp3 hybridized carbon being generated.
This disrupts the cyclic conjugation. In order for the aromatic ring to be regenerated, a proton will be
lost at the sp3 hybridized carbon. This means pnitroaniline can be prepared by electrophilic aromatic
substitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acetyl groups are electron withdrawing. This reduces the activity of the lone pair on the nitrogen
either in a protonation reaction or an oxidation reaction. The conditions required for nitration are
extremely acidic. Protonation of the nitrogen of aniline causes it to become a very strong deactivating
group.
In the second part of the experiment, we will be performing the nitration of Acetanilide. We will first
need to form the nitronium ion in situ by the dehydration of the nitric acid. The dehydrating agent for
this experiment is sulphuric acid. The nitronium ion is an extremely strong and powerful electrophile
which reacts with π electrons involved with the aromatic ring of

6. The Effectiveness Of John Rawls A Theory Of Justice
Rawls Theory of Justice

University of British Columbia
John Rawls in his work, A Theory of Justice, aims to make up a theory that will rivals intuitionalists
and utilitarianism, which seeks truth in morality that cause results in maximizing utility for the
maximum number of people. Rawls theory of justice is a distribution theory that maximizes primary
goods for the worst outcome an individual could be in. By primary goods, Rawls informs us that all
rational and reasonable individuals will want to have certain fundamental goods that should not be
denied anyone. These goods include liberty, autonomy, self respect, and wealth, as I will later discuss
in Rawls principle of equal liberty. To provide an argument that will combat utilitarianism, the
philosopher uses a revised social contract theory that is to a tune of higher abstraction (Rawls, pg.10)
than its predecessors John Locke, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and Immanuel Kant. In my essay I will
discuss Rawls original position and veil of ignorance that will lead us to his two principles of justice. I
will also discuss American philosopher Robert Nozick objection to Rawls principles and defend Rawls
argument. My essay will end in discussing the effectiveness of Rawls social contract theory in
combating utilitarianism. In Rawls justice as fairness theory, the original position essentially
substitutes Hobbes state of nature. According to

8. Missionary Trip To America Research Paper
By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they have for
me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my life for the
better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a beautiful harmony.
Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and forgiveness; they bring
people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general assumed illustration? A group of
Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples? Churches being built so that
worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a mission trip can be that or
something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern Africa. Visiting South Africa

What is the purpose of this when we can just read scriptures or listen to preachers from the comfort of

and for evangelism. Evangelism is all about spreading the gospel to the world, which the church helps
to do firsthand. The gospel has a lot of teachings, but they cannot all be summed up by the church. In

In 1822, the very first cruise line, known as the Peninsular Oriental Steam Navigation Company, was
founded by Brodie McGhie Willcox and Arthur Anderson, both experienced in the shipping industry.
Its first ship was the 206 ton paddle steamer called the William Fawcett, which was first deployed in
1835 from London to Spain and Portugal. More recently, in the 1960 s and early 1970 s, three of the
world s largest cruise lines were established. The first one, Norwegian Cruise Line, was introduced
when airline travel was becoming increasingly popular. The cruise industry declined significantly
from this competition. The second cruise line, Royal Caribbean International, was also experiencing

Caribbean owns 7 of the 10 largest cruise ships in the world. Its newest cruise ship, Anthem of the
Seas, has the most innovative technology onboard such as skydiving and a 360° view of the ocean.
Has the cruise industry evolved over the past years?
The cruise industry has definitely evolved over the years to meet the changing demands and
expectations of its passengers. The most important changes in the industry over the years are the
introduction of shore excursions, new cruise routes and changes in the ships themselves. The first
cruise ships offered few to no excursions while all the modern cruise lines offer over 100 excursions
per cruise. These excursions can include participating in an actual boat race in Philipsburg, climbing
waterfalls in Ocho Rios and scuba diving which is always very popular among passengers. They are
designed to give the passengers a new and thrilling experience that they cannot attain at home. In the
old days, the only cruise routes available were transatlantic and small European routes. The
transatlantic route became unpopular in the 1960 s as air travel shortened travelling time from less
than 20 hours by air versus four days by cruise. However, with the launch of newer,

12. Factors Affecting Accuracy of Analysis of Biomechanical...
Measurement of biochemical markers represents an important aid to clinicians in the early diagnosis
and prognosis of neurological disease. However, there are many factors, such as pre analytical,
analytical and post analytical features, that can contribute to lead to an accurate test result in the
chemistry laboratory. Nevertheless, it is necessary to validate proposed biomarker candidates in a well
designed and high quality controlled study. It requires both suitable and sufficient clinical specimens
and highly reproducible and quantitatively accurate analytical techniques.
Particularly more than 84% of laboratory errors can be attributed to pre analytical factors that include
patient condition, specimen collection, transport, processing and analysis [15].
Also in a CSF analysis, it has been suggested that several pre analytical factors, such as CSF
collection, storage or freeze thawing cycles, can affect the content of CSF proteome, leading to
various errors of misunderstanding in the biomarker research [16, 17].
Currently these variables could be divided into two general groups, in vivo and in vitro. In vivo factors
are those biological factors that are related directly to the patient, such as a specific time of day needed
to collect the CSF or the influence of fasting. On the other hand, in vitro factors are linked to the
procedure of sample collection, storage and analysis. They include the localization of the lumbar
puncture, the volume of CSF taken, the type of

The flapper s image challenged traditional values by introducing the idea that women were fearless in

Relationship between Sublime and Magical Realism Explored in The Monkey
From the beginning of The Monkey, a short story located within Isak Dinesen s anthology Seven
Gothic Tales, the reader is taken back to a storytime world he or she may remember from childhood.
Dinesen s 1934 example of what has been identified as the Gothic Sublime sets the stage for analysis
of its relationship to other types of literature. What constitutes Sublime literature? More importantly,
how may sublime literature relate to Magical Realist literature? Through examination of The Monkey,

The use of imagery in The Monkey is employed often. This imagery serves to suggest lofty ideas,
exaltedness, and nobility of spirit. A child had once seen a herd of unicorns come out of the woods to
graze upon the sunny slopes, the white and dappled mares, rosy in the sun, treading daintily...
(Dinesen 121).
In addition to the use of imagery, the use of hyperbole or exaggerated language is employed. The
stones reddened and glowed with it [light] until the whole place became a mysterious, a glorified,
abode, in which the tall windows shone like a row of evening stars (Dinesen 123). In another example
of hyperbole from The Monkey, King Solomon shut up the most prominent demons of Jewry in
bottles, sealed them, and had them sunk to the bottom of the sea (Dinesen 136).
The use of hyperbole and exaggerated language is extended to emotion. Inanimate objects and
ordinary actions cause emotions in unusual ways. The Prioress was drunk with some secret joy which
remained a mystery to the other convives of her supper party and which glinted in the dark (Dinesen
143). In another example from The Monkey, Boris heart leapt up within him and sang aloud, like a
bird which swings itself to the top of a tree and there bursts into song (Dinesen 152 153).
The final characteristic evidenced was a transformation from ordinary into extraordinary. In Dinensen
s The Monkey, the Prioress is transformed:

22. Enzyme Lab Report On Hydrogen Peroxide
Enzyme Lab Report
Hydrogen peroxide is a toxic byproduct of cellular functions. To maintain hydrogen peroxide levels
the catalase enzyme deconstructs hydrogen peroxide and reconstructs the reactants into oxygen gas
and water. The catalase enzyme is found inside cells of most plants and animals. Regulating the levels
of hydrogen peroxide is crucial in homeostasis and analyzing it s optimal conditions for performance
is just as important. To understand the optimal environment for this enzyme, they are put into different
environments based off protein activity (enzymes are proteins). Catalase samples will be put into
different hydrogen peroxide environments based off pH and temperature. The more active the enzyme,
the more oxygen and water it will produce. Enzyme activity can be seen through the release of oxygen
in the hydrogen peroxide. Since oxygen cannot be accurately measured, the data will consist of the
longevity of the reaction in different environments. If the pH is higher than 7, then the reaction rate
will increase due to the ample amount of hydrogen ions in the hydrogen peroxide. However the pH
level cannot be higher than 10 or else there will be too many hydrogen atoms in the peroxide for the
enzyme to be able to deconstruct them. If the temperature is increased, then the reaction rate will
increase due to the ample amount of energy and movement in the hydrogen peroxide and enzyme.

24. And Values Of The Future Generations
When thinking about what is necessary to pass on to the future generations, people of different ages
and backgrounds consider what is critical to vary. During and after the interview I had with my mother
discussing what advice and concepts we want the future generations to know, it was evident how we
similarly and differently saw the world. When our answers were the same, it was typical because my
mother has instilled what she thinks are important values in me. When our answers where different,
however, it could occasionally be blamed on the generational gap between us or the difference in
values based on when we were raised. It is evident that my mother and I want the future people of our
society to have many of the same qualities we try to exhibit every day. The similarities between the
two sets of answers was astonishing. In fact, about half of my mother and my answers were identical
or had a different phrasing of an identical idea. For our concepts, we both though that it is important to
be self sufficient or self reliant. This way of thinking is something both my grandmother and mother
value, so it must have been passed onto me. The second concept that we both had in common was to
find one s personal truth and listen to others points of view. These may seem different, but in my
answer of listening to others points of view, the main outcome of that is to create one s own idea from
others. This relates to my mother s answer of finding inner truth because both concepts

Topic 1
Registration of sex offenders is mandatory under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act
(SORNA). It provides the general qualifications of one to be registered as a sex offender. It requires
registered sex offenders to give updated information on their addresses, place of work or school and to
make physical appearances at legible offices to verify the updates. SORNA determines the information
that a registered sex offender should submit and makes it available to the public (SMART).
The constitution of Massachusetts is a subordinate to the constitution of United States, as would any
other state s constitution be. It is therefore mandated to register sex offenders within its borders. The
presence of decentralized statutes in the different states however results to different regulations on
registration of sex offenders among many other laws. The constitution of Massachusetts abundantly
outlines what is considered as sexual crimes and offenses. Not all of them, however, require their
perpetuators to register as sexual offenders. Some examples of the major crimes that would mandate
registration are such as rape, assault with the aim of committing rape, kidnapping a child and
introducing a minor to prostitution. The rest of the crimes mandated for registration are further listed

CO2 is released as a waste product. The 2 carbon acetyl group binds to coenzyme A. At this point, the
process starts to move into the mitochondria and the Krebs Cycle is initiated. There is a net gain of 2
ATP and 2 molecules of NADH produced.
During Krebs Cycle, the acetyl CoA breaks down further into two molecules of carbon dioxide during
each turn of the cycle. In the process, the molecules FAD and NAD are reduced to FADH2 and
NADH. 2 ATP is generated during the Krebs Cycle.
The reduced FADH2 and NADH enter the Electron Transport System where they are re oxidized to
FAD and NAD. These electrons release energy which forms 32 ATP molecules.
During aerobic respiration, there is a total net gain of 36 ATP.

Nowadays every legal system wants to achieve justice. Different legal traditions in the world have
given a different meaning of this concept by following one of the two legal systems: a civil law

many centuries has been developed in continental Europe and often is called a continental legal
system , achieving its prominence through development of aqui communitare in Europe. The common
law system emerged in England during the Anglo Saxon period and was developed by British
colonies, reaching its peak in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

In an adversary system the judge and jury as decision makers have a passive role in investigating and
gathering evidence and are responsible solely in deciding the case. In contrast, in an inquisitorial
system the judge holds a very active role in the process, by choosing which evidence to accept and
applying the law to the evidence in deciding the case. Supporters of the adversary system consider this
feature as an advantage because they believe that the justice is best achieved where the decision maker
is neutral, passive and impartial in deciding the case.
Distinction of roles between judges and juries is a further fundamental difference between the
adversarial and inquisitorial systems. In an adversarial system, there is a division of work between a
judge and jury. The role of the judge is to adjudicate the issue of law and to ensure that the trial
proceeds comply with the procedural and substantial laws, while the role of the jury is to adjudicate
the issue of facts as served by the opposing parties based on the law given by judges. Generally, a
judge will not interfere in jury s decision making, but this approach varies subject to matters being
decided in the criminal or civil cases. In civil cases, a judge has a power to set aside a decision taken
by jury if such decision was not made in accordance with the applicable law. However, in criminal
cases a judge does not

Abstract
This paper will examine five emerging trends associated with the future of higher education. Within

The third category includes private for profit institutions that offer predominately on line course
instruction. No matter what category the institution falls under, various trends are impacting higher
education and threaten to redefine the traditional mission. What follows is a discussion of five such
trends and an examination of the potential impact upon students, faculty, staff, parents and the
institutions.
The Cost of Higher Education The cost of higher education is on the rise. Within the United States,
nearly every state has reduced funding to higher education. As a result, institutions are challenged with
replacing the lost revenue and in most cases this is accomplished by increasing tuition. In addition the
cost of benefits for faculty and staff is increasing. Dew (2012) found that as health care costs increase
and both private and state sponsored pension funds decrease, institutions are increasingly dipping into
their own revenues to support benefit packages. In another effort to reduce costs, universities continue
to reduce the number of full time faculty and replace them with adjunct faculty and graduate assistants
both of which are exempt from benefits. As tenured faculty members retire, universities elect to fill the
position with part time faculty in lieu of high salaried tenured professors. Increased costs have a
cascading effect on other initiatives as well. State budget cuts threaten research universities by
reducing the funds

33. The Internet And The Future Of The Internet
The Internet has revolutionized how people interact with each other on a daily basis. Before the
Internet permeated our lives, staying connected to friends and family was difficult and costly.
However, today, staying connected is easy and accessible (O Dell, 2011). The way we communicate
changed when the first e mail was sent in 1971 (O Dell, 2011; Borges, 2012; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010).
When the Internet was launched in 1978, the Bulletin Board System (BBS) was invented to allow
users to exchange messages, data, news, and software (Bennett, 2012; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010). In
1979, two individuals created Usenet, a worldwide discussion system that allowed users to post public
messages (O Dell, 2011; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010). The 1980s witnessed the introduction of online
service providers such as Compuserve, Prodigy, and America Online (AOL) (Curtis, 2011). By 1989,
British engineer Tim Berners Lee had begun to work at CERN on what was to become the World
Wide Web (Borges, 2012; Curtis, 2011).
In the 1990s, the Mosaic web browser was launched, GeoCities, one of the Web s first social
networking sites, was founded, and personal home pages began to emerge (O Dell, 2011; Bennett,
2012; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010). The year 1995 marked the era of corporate web pages and e commerce
(Kaplan Haenlein, 2010). Thus, it is no surprise that the current trend toward social media can be
traced back to the Internet s roots, since social media has transformed the World Wide Web from web
sites that provided static information to web sites that allow information exchange between users
(Kaplan Haenlein, 2010). The social media era dates back to 1998, when Bruce and Susan Abelson
founded Open Diary, an early social networking site that brought online diary writers together in a
single community (Kaplan Haenlein, 2010). The technical advances and the growing availability of
high speed Internet access over the past 30 years have enabled a form of virtual content sharing,
leading to the creation of social networking sites such as MySpace in 2003 and Facebook in 2004 that
are fundamentally different and more powerful than the Bulletin Board System (BBS) of the late
1970s (Borges, 2012; Curtis, 2011; Kaplan Haenlein, 2010).

34. The Framework Popper Is An Intellectual Framework
The framework Popper is talking about is an intellectual framework. A neutral question is without
bias, informative leading, and isn t influenced by outside sources to receive the truest and most neutral
response; however, I define a neutral question as to be neutral in order to truth without a hidden
meaning within its structure, the opposite would be a leading question that encourages a desired
answer. So, there is no such thing as a neutral observation or perceiving something as neutral. The
statement suggests that areas of knowing lead us in a certain direction. By asking a question, one seeks
knowledge beyond a neutral way. What is the effect of bias on asking questions? Is prior knowledge of
something necessary before asking a question? Can we ask a question without context? How do areas
of knowing affect the neutrality of a question? The areas of knowing that will be looked at will be
natural science and history as scientists and historians find answers by beginning with questions and
observations. Several assumptions can be made such as if neutral questions are impossible then
everything carries bias. In order to ask a question and answer it, there can be no neutrality. All
questions are leading questions. It is impossible and possible to have a neutral question; this essay will
discuss the extent to which the statement is valid in natural science and history. There is no such thing
as a neutral question. Everything in science has a goal or ending that is trying to

Learning can be defined as an experience that causes a relatively permanent change in an organism.
There are two broad types of learning, classical conditioning and operant conditioning. Classical
conditioning has to do with associating a stimulus with a response and this was promoted by Ivan
Pavlov. Operant conditioning has to do with the consequences of a behavior determining its future
occurrence and was promoted by B. F. Skinner (Schater, Gilbert, Wegner, 2011). Each psychologist

In operant conditioning trainers will use reinforcement and punishment as outcomes to increase or
decrease the likelihood of the behavior that led to it. An example of Skinner s is when he put rats in
operant chambers that contained a lever for the rat to manipulate. If they pressed the lever at the right
time they would be rewarded with food, and if pressed at the wrong time they could be punished with
electrocution. There are many behaviors a trainer could teach because there are many options for
reinforcement and punishment, and they could be done in different time intervals (Schater, Gilbert,
Wegner, 2011). There are also positive and negative reinforcements and punishments. A positive
reinforcement would be adding something such as food and a negative reinforcement would be
subtracting something such as using sunscreen so that you avoid getting sunburnt. A positive
punishment would be adding something such as a shock and a negative punishment would be taking
something away such as a toy from a child when in trouble. An example of operant conditioning in my

Alexie uses repetition to create a new definition for Native American culture. Throughout the movie
Alexie tries break the typical Native American stereotypes. The movie can provide an insightful sense
of the lifestyle and emotions of a modern Native American living on the Core d Alene reservation is
like. Without this setting we cannot understand how Thomas and Victor grew up and how it has
affected them. Alexie uses repetition to provide a new perspective of Native American culture
throughout the film. The dynamic between Victor and Thomas is unusual. Victor is angry and harsh
while Thomas is an optimistic storyteller. The pairing of their friendship creates an insightful dialogue
on what it is like to be a Native American in the 20th century. The real history of Native Americans
has been stereotyped in movie and the more I learn the more you realize their history has been filled
with suffering and injustice, the more I feel the truth of the statement, We pay for the sins of our
fathers. Every generation inherits the problems of their parents. Each generation that inherits
dysfunctions from their parents have to break free and create a new narrative for themselves like
Victor and the way Alexie uses poetry as narrative his film. Smoke Signals is about a new generation
of Native Americans coming to terms with a painful past and forgive so that a new generation can
move forward.
At the end of the movie Alexie uses a poem called,

42. Analysis Of Natural Goodness By Philippa Foot Essay
In her book Natural goodness , Philippa Foot shows that ethical evaluation has the same conceptual
structure as the evaluation of living things. This essay will extend from that and focus on how, in fact
and practical reason, that I am human sets what is good for me to do. In doing this, it will further show
how ethical naturalism can claim ethical facts are both descriptive and action guiding. The essay will
take the form of five main sections. Firstly, I will lay out the Footian view of a thick notion of how a
plant or animal should be based on where we see it aiming at and how it characteristically gets there
sets our evaluation of those subjects. Secondly, I will distinguish between internal and external
reasons for acting in order to disambiguate the following section in which I discuss John McDowell s
view of how at least some internal ethical reasons for acting do not need further internal justification
to be correct reasons. In order to relate this to the first section, I will look at Steven Hendley s
argument that correct reason is rooted in first nature and argue that human telos must be seen as what
both rational second nature and first nature is aiming at, a la animal Telos. Finally, using John Hacker
Wright as a springboard, I will argue that taking ourselves to be acting on correct internal reasons
requires and discloses a picture of how people should be which connects human telos to correct action
in the spheres of practical and theoretic reason. Why

43. Persuasive Essay On National Service
Judge a leader by their level of service not their level of privilege, (US Army Ranger). National
service is the big idea of this generation. Citizens should have the opportunity and the responsibility to
serve for their country. National service involves people more with their community by allowing them
to have a voice and participate more with their communities. Citizens will come together stronger
after serving together. General Stanley McChrystal wrote a democracy journal explaining that it would
be in the best interest for everyone to join the service for one year. General Stanley McChrystal is a
retired four star general and the former commander of the U.S and International Security Assistance
Force in Afghanistan and of the Joint Special Operations Command. McChrystal talks about how the
government is run by the citizens and how the citizens give the government its voice. Also how the
problems that are starting to arise is history itself repeating. Joining the service for a year gives off
opportunity and confidence to the citizens. After the service these citizens gain a sense of
responsibility and hard work needed to pursue their dreams. Democracy is a system of government by
the whole population or all the eligible members of a state. Joining the military for one year gives
many benefits of the citizens because it creates a better government, it makes a more peaceful
community and it gives off a better education. Joining the military for one year gives many

The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda(NES) is a high fantasy action adventure video game series created by Japanese
game designers Takashi Tezuka and Shigeru Miyamoto. It was developed and published by Nintendo.
The main platforms associated with this game include: Game boy, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, and
the Nintendo Entertainment System. The Legend of Zelda plots centers on a boy named Link whose
goal is to collect the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom in order to rescue Princess Zelda from
the enemy, Ganon. Over time, players tend to become quite skilled if they play The Legend of Zelda

In the Legend of Zelda, the sword less speed running game completely transformed the game. Sword
less speed running is played by gamers who yearn for a challenge it s a normal run, except that you
can t use a sword throughout the game until you encounter, Gannon. Gannon cannot be killed without
a sword, unlike the other enemies in the game who can be killed using a bomb, candles, wands, and
boomerangs. This is the fastest strategy to complete the game, because you are not focused in killing
the enemies, but rather on dashing through levels as fast as possible. The sword less community defied
the instructions of the developers, because the sword was intended to be used throughout the game.
This community believed that the normal rules were too easy and as a result made their own rules to
enhance the challenge and fun aspects of the game. Nevertheless, this community exploited the game
because they found a way to surpass this rule. Yes, the primary objective is to find a weapon but that
necessarily doesn t have to be the sword, this community learned that they can utilize candles, bombs,
and arrows to use against enemies. Players who perform speed runs often record their attempts, these
recordings entertain others, verify the time achieved. To accomplish a high level of play, speed runners

Allied land component integration struggles hindered operational progression throughout the Sicilian
Campaign. Initial planning and operations for Sicily revealed, General Alexander s lack of experience
and effective leadership resulting in granting General s Montgomery and Patton too much latitude in
operational decision making. [Swanson, p. 58] In essence, General Alexander s lack of command
guidance and restructuring Allied land force boundaries allowed the General Patton to divert forces
toward Western Sicily and away from operational objectives of meeting the German Army. [Swanson,

46. The Compound Effect By Darren Hardy

Dr. Carl Wysocki
Book Summary
June 11, 2017
The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy This was a very good and intriguing book to read throughout
the past couple weeks. I thought that Darren Hardy made handling money and life very simple and
easy unlike other books. I Thought for my summary of the book that I would share some of his great
ideas he presented in the book with his wisdom.
Success and failure are the results of the choices that we make everyday. Part of the compound effect
is making the right decision over and over again for a long period of time in order to be consistently
successful. Its all about making the right decision which can be hard at times because sometimes you
don t know what the right decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
every decision, no matter how slight, alters the trajectory of your life (pg.23).
Another great thing I took from this book is to track the habits that you want to change. This is
something that I can apply to my whole life especially the financial part of it. I fid myself spending
my money way to fast and wondering how it disappeared so quickly. In the book it says to make sure
you record everything that you buy so you can make improvements on what you are doing with your
money. Tracking is a simple exercise. It works because it brings moment to moment awareness to the
actions you take in the area of your life you want to improve (pg. 38).
Another great part about this book is when he talks about riding the momentum of success. Its
important that when you find success that you go back to what got you there and work just as hard as
you did before and you will begin to ride this wave or rhythm of success. Achievers People who get
into a successful rhythm continue busting their butts and end up achieving more and more (pg.94). I
think that one of the most important parts of the book is when talks about developing a routine. A
routine is everything, its what you do everyday in order to be successful and find success in life.
Developing a routine develops great habits in every part of

47. Sexual Exploitation Of Sex Advertising
Sexual exploitation is becoming more and more mainstream in advertisements. Everyone knows that
sex sells. Especially Carl s Jr. They have developed a reputation with their salacious ad campaigns,
often depicting women in very revealing attires. In their recent advertisement for the 2015 Super
Bowl, it features model Charlotte Mckinney where she is baring almost everything. There is more to
the commercial than just boobs and burgers. The use of Mckinney s body as a sexual object is
discriminating to all women and raises sexism. The stereotypical ad brings imparities between genders
and promotes gender policing. The attention grabbing, super sexy Au Naturel ad first starts off with
the model Mckinney, walking through a farmer s market practically naked while strategically placed
items are covering her private areas. She clearly has all the attention of the men at the market. She
walks by this one man with a spray hose and he completely turns around to catch a look of Mckinney,
who appears fully naked, being covered this time by the spraying water from the hose. She catches
another man s attention and is a shot of her bare back with a tomato shaped exactly like her behind,
perfectly covering just that. The man then pinches and grabs the side of the tomato. The shot after
shows her walking towards a scale where again, a man is perfectly barely covering her up by putting
two big melons on a scale to replace her breasts. The last and final shot is when she is walking
towards

Making cognitive connections, within subjects and between subjects... ( Piaget 1977, Cockburn and
Haylock 2008,Rose 2009) is an aspect of cross curricular learning. Generally speaking, cross
curricular learning is when skills, knowledge and attitudes of a number of disciplines which are
applied to a single experience, problem, question, theme or idea. In simple terms, it s also known as a
thematic approach. From this point, I d be exploring the reasons why a thematic approach should be
adopted in the classroom and this approach could deliver the four core subjects in the National
Curriculum in Key Stage 1. On top of that I d be exploring the issues raised of adopting a cross
curricular approach and the implications of using a theme based ... Show more content on

This form of assessment allows me to find out children s prior learning experiences and interests and
gives me an indication of where they are at, whilst children getting to have a voice in what goes on in
their classroom. On top of that, at the start of the term children would be able to engage in theme
based lessons by inquiring them to suggest themes they d like to study over the next half term, this
gives children the power to take control of their own learning and supports children s intrinsic
motivation of wanting to learn for themselves.
Again, due to the fact that children s interests and experiences are used to form a platform for
learning, the thematic approach tends to lend itself to be more motivating for pupils in conjunction
with their wider life experiences, as suggested by Barnes (2009). (Mumford. D (2000) Planning a
theme based unit, Canada: Pacific Edge Publishing Ltd) This kind of assumption asserts that all
children responds positively to the same style of teaching or the same stimulus. However, he neglects
that motivation arises from many sources and children are inspired by different and unpredictable
outputs. It is therefore understood that cross curricular approach will not suit all children. But at the

49. What Role Did Samurai Play In Japanese Culture
Tradition played a major role in Shogunate Japan. Every role and ritual that each person took place in
had multiple traditions and meanings embedded in it. This had an enormous effect on the overall way
in which Japanese society functioned. In the following report, the role that traditions played in art,
samurai, daily life and geography during the 17th to 19th century had on Japanese society will be
explored and uncovered.
SAMURAI (WARRIORS) OF JAPAN:
The samurai held a very important role in the Tokugawa society. Tradition influenced the way in
which the samurai were able to perform during battle and their efficiency. Bushido meant the way of
the warrior. He who practised the code of bushido was expected to act honourably, faithfully ... Show

Traditional kimonos were worn by every class, except for the samurai; they wore a two piece set
called the hakama. As the Meiji Revolution was in the workings, a widespread of silkworm disease hit
Europe. As Japan was an isolated country, they were easily able to avoid this disease, produce and sell
Japanese silk at an astounding price. The traditional art of raising silkworms and spinning their threads
was recognised as the way in which Japan s new economy was able to re negotiate its imbalanced
agreements and restore its power. This is because Shogunate Japan had the advantage of silk and
silkworms over Europe and their countries. Because the material was so expensive, only the upper
classes were able to wear their kimonos made out of silk. The farmers, merchants and artisan s
kimonos were made out of cotton or hemp. As Japanese traditions revolved around religion and
philosophy, Buddhism influenced what many people ate. Meat in this religion was strongly
discouraged, so the Japanese civilization ate what they could easily get a hold on. These foods mainly
included rice, vegetables and seafood. As Shinto was practised throughout Japanese society, a culture
developed that created an appreciation towards all life in nature and arts. The contribution of daily life
in Japanese society helped gain its maximum potential. People were able to get use out of the

50. Financial Assistance Program For Health Coverage
Mrs. Jones, like many older adults, is on a fixed income, has Medicare for health coverage, but lacks
prescription drug coverage. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her physician, which she
cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing education
and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of the
medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her
medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain Medicare Drug Plans and
their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she might
qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the medication such as coupons,
drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store programs ( Prescription Drug, 2014).
All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In the meantime, it may be beneficial to
obtain free samples from the physician s office if possible, but this only makes sense if there is a
strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the new medication.
First, I must assess Mrs. Jones understanding of her insurance plan. Is she even aware that she doesn t
have prescription drug coverage? According to Cohen and Villarroel (2015), approximately one fifth
(18%) of the $263 billion spent on retail prescription drugs in the United States in 2012

51. Will Hunting Is A Year Old Orphan
Will Hunting is a 20 year old orphan. He lives in a small apartment in Southie and has been working
as a janitor at M.I.T under the supervision of the Parole Employment Program. As a child, Will was
constantly in and out of foster homes due to the physical abuse by three different foster fathers since
adolescence and has a history of assault, grand theft, resisting arrest, mayhem, impersonating an
officer. As an effect of this abuse Will blames himself for his unhappy childhood and turns his anger
issues into a form of self sabotage in both his professional and emotional lives. Hence why he is
unable to maintain either a steady job or romantic relationship. He always wore slacks, and t shirt to
all his therapy sessions, but his clothes appear to be clean. Will Hunting had anger issues and was very
oppositional to authority figures. He also had abandonment issues. He was arrested for fighting and
beating up another young man who he went to kindergarten with. At his court appearance, he was
mandated to attend therapy twice a week and also required to report to Professor Lambeau once a
week. He saw five therapists with whom he failed to connect, prior to seeing Sean Maguire. He
terminated himself from some of his previous therapy sessions. Two of his therapists walked out on
him. Will accused his first therapist of being gay and played his second therapy by pretending to be
hypnotized. He was institutionalized for most of his childhood years. He spoke of his three close

We are losing our privacy. If we conduct, random locker searches all privacy and trust will be lost. I
think that conducting random locker searches is a bad idea because it is an invasion of privacy, breaks
the fourth amendment, and will cause distrust in students. If we conduct random locker searches all
privacy will be lost. The students of this school need to have at least a little bit of privacy where no
one else gets to look at. Secondly, it breaks the fourth amendment. The fourth amendment states that
anyone has the right to secure any item against unwarranted search and seizure. The third Reason of
why we should not have random locker searchers is that it will cause distrust in students. Many
