Discrimination, Discrimination And Discrimination Essay
Unfortunately, discrimination has been occurring in America for hundreds of years. Evidence proves
this when the European settlers began colonizing America and making the Native American people
their slaves. It didn t stop there, discrimination and racism was even more apparent when the Jim
Crow Laws were passed. The Jim Crow Laws enforced segregation between the whites and the
African Americans. For years, the unlucky Americans of all races, colors, and sexual orientation have
endured discrimination at some point in their lives. One major issue that many Americans endure is
discrimination in the work place. Throughout the years, learning how to avoid discrimination has
become a priority.
Police chief Crystal Moore of Latta, South Carolina had to experience her own battle with
discrimination. Chief Moore has been the Police Chief of Latta County for 23 years when she was
fired for reasons believing related to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender or LGBT lifestyle.
Chief Moore is an openly Lesbian Police Chief who has not encountered any issues prior to being
fired by Mayor Earl Bullard. Mayor Bullard had become Mayor this year, in 2016. When Mayor
Bullard was questioned about the termination of police chief Moore, he claimed it was due to the
seven reprimands of questionable behavior, difficulty with maintaining order and other reasons that
were not disclosed. Chief Moore claimed none of those reprimands were true, and she had done
nothing wrong or unethical. Chief

Death is a serious thing and it is very sad, especially if that person is love. The night before Esperanza
s birthday is when she was told, that her father was dead. At first, she was sad, as seen in this quote,
Have you not heard? My...my Papa is dead. She gets passed this tragedy by staying calm and not
thinking about it. At first, she doesn t really believe that her father is dead. After a while though she
realizes and gets over the fact, that she will never see her father again. Although, throughout the story
memories of her father come to her. Esperanza becomes less hypersensitive and more determined,
because of this. This is very good for her well being. For example, then she won t be as upset if
something unfortunate happens, or she has a problem. Also, after this, she is more and more
determined to be there for Mama and more determined to impress her and help

Describe The Fynbos Biome
The Fynbos biome is the name given to the indigenous vegetation that puts the garden. Many plants
that are popular worldwide today had their origins in the fynbos biome. Many fynbos species are
typically confined to acidic nutrient poor sandstone soils. Fynbos is the name given to a type of
vegetation. It is a shrubby, hard leaved, evergreen type of vegetation. Fynbos is characterized by the
presence of reed like plants. Fynbos makes up sixty seven percent of the fynbos biome. It is the
vegetation that gives the Cape region most of it s unique floristic characteristics. The Fynbos Biome is
exquisite, but fragile. From rugged mountain slope and rolling sandy dunes to marshy plains, the
fynbos biome is incredibly distinct. Fynbos biome is unique because it has adapted to extreme
conditions. Fynbos has the ability to withstand. Although it contains by far the greatest number of
species and has the highest levels of endemism. Fynbos biome includes three major vegetation
formations largely confined to the nutrient poor soils, it has the highest number of rare and endangered
taxa. .
The intervals between fires must allow the slowest growing plant to flower at least three successive
seasons. The fynbos is located in the winter rainfall region. Fynbos growth take place during winter
and spring. South Africa s biomes covers only about 6.7% of South Africa but ... Show more content

Colonization of the Cape transformed fynbos country into vast farmlands of wheat, oats, canola, fruit
trees, vineyards and livestock pastures for sheep and cattle. Fire integral to fynbos, an integral feature
of the fynbos biome is fire and it is an essential component of its perpetuation. Fynbos areas should
not be burned more frequently than seven to twelve years but lightning strikes are happening more
often resulting in veld fires. This could have an adverse effect on endangered fynbos species that take

An Analysis of the Airline Industry
My industry analysis will be about the airline industry.
Nature of competition
The airline industry is in a state of oligopoly, bordering onto the state of imperfect competition. The
various aspects that have a bearing on the nature of competition will be covered subsequently.
Imperfect information. There is imperfect information about the airline market. This can be gauged by
the fact that airlines are never sure as to what is the exact demand for seats on any route over the
period of the year. While airlines make fairly accurate guesses about the number of passengers
depending upon season, holidays and weekdays, the goal of ensuring that each aircraft flies with
passengers occupying all the seats in the aircraft is seldom met. While ... Show more content on

This is because there is considerable scope to outsource common services such as catering, ground
handling, aircraft maintenance and reservations. Leasing of aircraft is one method of deferring huge
capital costs. If sufficient passengers are attracted to an airline, it will cross the break even point
(Sundaresan). Therefore, from the point of view of barriers to entry, the airline industry can be
categorized as one having imperfect competition or an oligopoly. Domestic airlines are closer to a
state of imperfect competition, while international airlines function as an oligopoly.
Suppliers. Airplanes, labor and fuel are the major ingredients in running an airline. There are only two
major builders of commercial airplanes in the world Boeing and Airbus. As a result, their pricing does
impact the industry standards to a great degree. However, this is offset by current trends of leasing
aircraft and also by the fact that aircraft purchases span several years, and the effects of purchases are
factored into the business models of airlines. Labor such as pilots, cabin crew and ground support staff
is typically unionized and retains some bargaining power. However, post deregulation, airlines have
the option to invoke Chapter 11 clauses of bankruptcy, to avoid undue pressure form labor unions.
Aviation fuel remains a commodity whose price is guided by geopolitical and economic factors

People Don t Resist Change, They Resist Being Changed!
The Impact of Change Management on the Success of Project Management.
Stuart Riley
PJMN501
October 28, 2012
Change Management, if implemented well, has the ability to make transitions positive, possible and
profitable. It goes without saying that change is a part of life. From the moment we are born until the
moment we pass away, change is occurring in us and around us. That being the case, it needs to be
clearly stated that organizations, companies and institutions are much like individuals. No
organization is able to exist without the people that work within their walls or the clients that utilize
their services or products. If change is inevitable and constant ... Show more content on

If we were dealing with inanimate objects with no feelings, thoughts, or consciousness, change would
certainly be more easily implemented. As I stated earlier, organizations are made up of and rely on
people. People often look to their leaders when change is to be implemented. Some might suggest that
Leadership is about change. In the 2008 Presidential Election, Barrack Obama ran his campaign based
on the slogan Change you can believe in . That being said, what does a leader do when he or she runs
into strong resistance to change and what does that resistance look like? Resistance can manifest itself
in several different ways. According Paul R. Lawrence, Such resistance may take a number of forms
persistent reduction in output, increase in the number of quits and requests for transfer, chronic
quarrels, sullen hostility, wildcat or slowdown strikes, and, of course, the expression of a lot of pseudo
logical reasons why the change will not work . Lawrence made this observation in 1969 and
remarkably, today s experts agree that not much has changed with respect to the manner in which
resistance manifests itself in the modern workplace Kotter and Schlesinger (1979) mention that
negative responses to change from individuals and groups can vary from passive resistance to
aggressive attempts to undermine it. The experts agree that people are resistant to change and if the
change managers don t win over the hearts and minds of those that require a

Hamlet Dek Revenge In Hamlet
William Shakespeare hamlet is a poem illustrating a prince seeking revenge over his father tragic
death. Hamlet the prince is left clueless who killed his father until some night watcher gave him some
news about a ghost that looked like his dead father. Hamlet decides to go see the ghost for himself and
is shocked what the ghost has said to him. The murder of his father was no accident for a snake but
instead hamlet father was murder from his uncle, Claudius, the new king of Denmark. Hamlet
becomes angry at Claudius for killing his father and is also angry at his mother, Gertrude, for
betraying his and marrying Claudius. Hamlet begins to act insane because he wants to distract the
people around him so he can fulfill his revenge of the murder of his father.
In the poem Hamlet begins to have a insane at attitude when tries to seek revenge. At first hamlet
begins to act that he is crazy but it slow begin to affect him. A first example is when hamlet begins to
have a couple of suicidal thought. Shakespeare writes;
O, that this too too solid flesh would melt,
Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew!
Or the Everlasting had not fix d
His canon gainst self slaughter! O God! O God! (Shakespeare, 1529).
In these line hamlet has a thought of committing suicide but realizes he would disobey Gods
command. According to an article by Andrew he says; Far from evincing an acceptance of death or a
belief in its religious purpose, Hamlet continues instead to view life and death as

What s Wrong With Online Marketing Advertising Practices
There are a number of types of products you should actively avoid. If you ve read our two part series
about Honest Marketing Techniques What s Wrong With Online Marketing Advertising Practices you
already know there are issues with uncontrolled advertising on the internet. Perhaps you ve already
been burned by purchasing a bad product, or with luck, you ve only been suspicious that a given
product may not be what it seems to be. In part one of this three part series, we will first look at blind
advertisements.
There is some similarity in product launches being seen lately, especially with ClickBank launches. It
isn t a problem with ClickBank per se, but as one of the most popular third party organizations
involved with selling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blind copy on a $37 or $77 price point will sell the living daylights out of your product. It will also
destroy your customer list you just built, send refunds through the roof and create support nightmares.
Yes, I know that if you are an affiliate, you don t have to deal with the support issues, but you will
have lower income and ClickBank will withhold larger amounts from your checks to cover the
anticipated refund rates.
Compare that to the copy for an ethical advertisement. You get real information about what you ARE
going to get, so you know what to expect when you download the product. You don t get exaggerated
claims about how you will feel, or perhaps how much money you will make, but you will get concrete
information about what the product actually is and what benefits it provides.
I personally would never recommend any product that I haven t purchased myself and found to be
effective, and certainly not any product that doesn t provide up front information about exactly what it
is.
Second Rule: Loopholes and secrets are Blind too.
If the advertising copy promises a newly discovered loophole , you should be very, very careful about
the product. You should be aware that the great majority of loopholes are soon closed, often even
before major sales occur for the product that supposedly takes advantage of them.

Popular Culture And Social Media Essay
Popular culture was, and perhaps still is, seen as a touchy and risky topic that should not be
experimented in by many educational institutions. Callahan and Low (2004) point out that popular
culture is looked upon unfavorably due to its fluid nature and habit of putting teachers in zones outside
their expertise and familiarity (p.52). Additionally, as described by Gutiérrez (2011) popular culture
and the fandoms that inevitably followed were believed to create a single path by which the individual
merely payed tribute to a source material without having ever gained or learned anything in return
(p.227). Furthermore, Hull and Stornaiuolo (2010) assert that formal, or standardized, schooling is
skeptical of the potential educational value while magnifying the potential risks of popular culture and
social media (p 85), perhaps prompting instructors to stick to traditional techniques in lieu of potential
dangers, to both students and their own job security. Why then, despite the potentially debilitating
aspects of popular culture in the classroom, do some teachers still choose to incorporate them?
Admittedly, I observed very few instances of pop culture implementation during my first field
experience, however those that did incorporate popular culture did so naturally, enthusiastically, and
so masterfully that it was without a doubt beneficial when compared to classes that were kept material
dry and by the books. Therefore, the real question becomes: How do teachers

The Importance of Vitamin D Essay
Getting some sun is essential to human health despite the risks of the skin cancer. There is much more
benefits that come with the exposure to the sun than harm. Vitamin D that our body produces when we
are exposed to the sun is very efficient in curing so many diseases. It protects from arthritis, diabetes,
infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis and some kinds of cancer, just to name a few. It has been proven
that the Earth s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are
exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. We do need to focus on the benefits, because we
have way more of them. The only harm it does to our body is skin cancer, which by being more
careful we can protect from. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has many different negative effects, like growth retardation, skeletal deformation and softening of
the skull (Holick, 2008). In Europe doctors prescribe vitamin D for infants to prevent those kinds of
problems, and also they recommend daily walks in the sun. That is why the children in Europe don t
have rickets as often as in United States. The doctors here depend on the vitamins that are in the
formula, but it is not enough. A study published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that 75 percent
or more of American teens and adults are deficient in Vitamin D. That is why we have so many serious
illnesses, like cancer, diabetes and heart disease (Huff, 2010). Infectious diseases are more seen in
people living in places with less sun during winter months, we know those as influenza virus or
simply cold. The sun in those places is unable to produce vitamin D and that is why we get sick so
often. The people that live in the warm places, where the vitamin D is produced all year round, don t
get sick as often (Holick, 2008). Diabetes is a very big problem in United States, but if we listen to
what researchers had found, we can try to prevent people from getting this disease by staying in the
sun. It has been proven that it can lower 80 percent, if we start giving our infants 2,000 IU of vitamin
D during the first year of life. The research also shows

Tuberculosis
Introduction:
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease which causes millions of death in humans. In India
approximately 500,000 deaths occurs now and then. TB is an air borne disease which is caused by
Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Apart from M. tuberculosis, there are many strains of Mycobacterial
species like M. bovis , M .africanum , M. microti, M. caprae , M. pinnipedi i, M. canetti and M.
mungi. Together these species are known to be M. tuberculosis complex. The main target of
tuberculosis is the lungs (i.e. pulmonary tuberculosis) as well as other parts of the body (i.e. systemic
tuberculosis). Most tuberculosis does not cause infection which is known as latent tuberculosis (i.e.
they remain in inactive form). The spread of infection is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Signs and symptoms of TB:
Cough
Unintentional weight loss
Fatigue
Fever
Night sweats
Chills
Loss of appetite
Diagnosis of TB Disease:
People suspected to have TB disease should test for the following:
Medical history,
Physical examination,
Test for TB infection (TB skin test or TB blood test),
Chest radiograph (X ray)
Appropriate laboratory tests
Testing for TB infection:
Tuberculin skin test: Also called the Mantoux tuberculin skin test is done by injecting a small amount
of fluid (called tuberculin) into the skin in the lower part of the arm. A person given the tuberculin
skin test must return within 48 to 72 hours to have a trained health care worker look for a reaction on
the arm. If at the site of injection there may be raised, hard area or swelling, its size should be using a
ruler. If the size is greater than 5cm this indicates the positive result for TB.
TB blood tests: TB blood tests (also called interferon gamma release assays or IGRAs) TB. An IGRA
measures how strong a person s immune system reacts to TB bacteria by testing the person s blood in
a laboratory. If the result is positive, it should be

The Great Military Of The Nation State
With the rise of the nation state has come the need for a force to protect it and project its political will.
As nation states have grown, so too have the forces that protect it. Large armies that need to move any
distance from their home bases need to bring their supplies with them or procure them on the move.
Supplying these armies has always been a challenge, and it will continue to be a challenge in the
future. Many great military leaders faced these issues; the greatest advances in logistics did not appear
in warfare until the 17th century and many of them continued into the 21st century. These advances
were the beginning of modern military logistics and the basis of how nations supply their armies
today. Although the logistical systems continue to evolve in many ways during the past four centuries,
it still is not perfect. Since ancient times, states recognized that feeding an army was difficult and
multiple methods were employed in an attempt to meet the needs of soldiers. While in garrison, food
generally was not too difficult to procure. However, food was not always as readily available when
armies were on the march. The states had limited methods for dealing with the issue of supplying food
and other supplies, and when soldiers needs were not met, they began resorting to stealing, buying,
and plundering. In the 17th century, soldiers not receiving pay or food would do as they pleased,
raping, pillaging, and robbing those in nearby villages to

Synthesis And Testing Of Aa2014 Al2o3
Synthesis And Testing of AA2014 Al2O3(alpha) Nano Composite
Abstract Al2O3 reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composites give advanced mechanical physical
properties. They have voluminous applications in automobile, aerospace, defense, sports, electronics,
bio medical and other industrial fields. Various manufacturing techniques like stir casting, ultra sonic
assisted casting, compo casting, powder metallurgy, liquid infiltration are used for the production of
the aluminium matrix composites. These composites reveal advanced physical and mechanical
properties like lower density, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good corrosion resistance, high
tensile strength, high stiffness, high hardness and wear resistance. Our paper reviews the
characterization of mechanical properties like tensile strength, hardness with production route of
casting for aluminium matrix Al2O3 composites. Al2O3 agglomeration along with the increasing
volume percentage is still a challenging task in composites materials manufacturing. 0.5% by weight
of pure magnesium powder is used as wetting agent. Process parameters are optimized for the stir
casting process of aluminium composite. Tensile and hardness test microstructure study was
performed to find the deviation from the aluminium alloy.
Keywords: Agglomeration, stir casting, aluminium composite.
I. INTRODUCTION
The use of Aluminium alloys in aerospace and automobile industries are remarkable due to their low
density and good mechanical properties.

This empirical study looks to investigate the consumer trends of the students of Coventry University
London Campus (CULC). The aim of this study is to see what the students at CULC prefer in terms of
technology. Today a smartphone is able to do all the functions that a computer can normally do and
with the passage of time, we see the grasp of smartphones and tablets getting firmer on our lives.
According to Ahmed (1991, p.25) a clear and strong brand image of can drastically increase the
confidence of the consumers and it can also convince the consumers to purchase the

It helps them to better understand the customer segment that is probably the largest chunk of their
market share. They understand as to what brand is preferred by students, what their age and gender is
and most importantly, how much are they willing to spend on technology. This helps them to make
future decisions that can be vital for the company. Alongside this, it also gives them an understanding
of competition and helps them analyze how far ahead or behind the market they are and accordingly
steps can be taken in the future by the company.
For this study, we used surveys using surveymonkey.com and a sample of 66 students was taken
altogether. This sample helps us analyze the student preference for brands and the time and money
they spend on technology.
Sample
The survey that was conducted on surverymonkey.com was circulated to the students of CULC on 1st
November 2014. The responses that we got were from 66 students and the pie chart below shows the
gender of the respondents:
The chart above shows us that 68.18% of the respondents were males and the remaining 31.82% were
females. Overall the responses that we got from the survey were satisfactory and they give us a
reasonable representation of the student preferences for technology here at CULC. However, we must

Emile Durkheim’S Book Elementary Forms Of Religious Life
Emile Durkheim s book Elementary Forms of Religious Life serves as a religious guide from the
perspective of primitive societies by focusing on understanding the key principles of religion by
studying these groups and drawing similarities to major ideologies based off of their key elements and
rituals. His goal from this research was to figure out the origins of religion itself. His study focused on
the aborigines, the indigenous people of Australia. He wrote the study in a way so a non believer could
understand religion and yet find none in error, allowing them to believe that each religion was a mere
branch on a much larger tree. This theory holds elements of the idea of coexistence, theorizing no
society has the wrong idea. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In layman s terms, he perceives religion as firstly a society questioning how they arrived at said point
and from where they started, allowing the praise to go to a higher power. Edward Burnett Tylor states,
the ordinary condition of the savage is the result of degeneration from a far higher state saying that our
most primitive forms are reflections of the gods themselves. The second says religion is a tool used for
formulating societies throughout the ages and our world today, our geographic distribution, has been
accounted for based off of the religious identities of our past societies.
Opposers of Durkheim s ideas hold religions to be of unequal standing, saying all religions do not all
have the same measure of truth. To them, Durkheim argues that to understand his approach one must
reach beneath the symbolism, grasp the reality it represents and understand its true meaning. In a
sense, he is saying that by understanding one religion, you have the capacity to understand another.
To achieve the author s goal, he utilizes Aristotle s categories of understanding time, space, number,
cause, substance, and personality all corresponding to universal properties. This became a popular
system for classification as he believed religion itself served as a universal property. The article
utilized the concept of time as a key to understanding religion. A summation of the example would be
that time does not define itself, we define it. We define what

Sports Are Good For Children
Organized Sports are Good for Children As time passes and as technology is advancing, the tradition
of playing outside is diminishing rapidly. Many people concentrate on their electronic devices in their
ages as early as three. Sports are the most effective way that children express their joyfulness and
brilliance. It provides children advantages of physical activities, confidence, and enjoyment.
Participating in organized sports in early ages can produce the greatest results for children. Organized
sports are good for children to improve social skills, to have successful life, and to keep their health.
First, organized sports are good for children because it improves social skills. Children who
participate in team sports are full of confidence. According to Gary R. Collins, who writes the

The Issue Of Underage Drinking
The issue of underage drinking has been constant for many years. The law for the minimum drinking
age allows people 21 and older to legally drink alcoholic beverages. It is hard to enforce this law
especially on college campuses where lots of underage drinking takes place. Someone that is 18 and
older can get into some clubs where they are getting drinks even though they are not supposed to.
There is a level of responsibility they needs to be taken when people are drinking. They should know
how to handle themselves when alcohol is in their system. Consuming too many alcoholic beverages
can cause health issues, behavior issues, and have other harmful effects on a person. The issues that
come along with drinking alcohol will affect teenagers and college students more than it would affect
someone that is 21 or older. The minimum drinking age law should remain at 21 to keep more young
adults from encountering issues associated with drinking. Young adults that are in the age range of 18
20 are more likely to be more reckless than someone who is older and more mature. Adolescents hit
the age of 18 and feel like they are grown and finally able to do what they want to do. Some have
already started drinking alcohol and will start to drink it more frequently. Having alcohol in their
systems will cause their behavior to change and could affect their rationale of thinking. Their senses
will be affected as well which causes more accidental injuries, altercations, and driving

Community Emergency Response Team And Fire Corps
Abstract
The issue confronting all communities during a large scale disaster is the extreme labor intensive need
of responding and recovering. The predicament of most communities is the incapability to employ the
large scale of personnel needed to competently manage a large scale disaster. One conceivable
solution is to increase the workforce population during times of perilous need is for emergency
managers to assimilate community volunteers into their existing disaster management plans. The
nationally sponsored Neighborhood Watch, Volunteers in Police Services, Medical Reserve Corps,
Community Emergency Response Team and Fire corps programs that are nationally sponsored and
marketed by the federal government through county wide Citizen ... Show more content on

Success will require a new level of cooperation and commitment to collaborations among the
volunteer sector, professional responders and all levels of government.
Introduction:
Emergency Management organizations cannot adequately provide the colossal workforce necessary to
safely and resourcefully manage the response and recovery operations of large scale disasters without
the assistance of volunteers. The alacrity of civilians to help in times of need has traditionally resulted
in a large number of citizen volunteers to concurrently congregate onto disaster scenes to assist the
center of operations. The concern attributed to this type of assistance is the disorderly arrival of a large
number of volunteers immediately following a large scale disaster can have negative consequences,
such as preventing entry and egress to and from the disaster area by blocking streets with their
personal owned vehicles, becoming injured themselves and disturbing evidence in a potential crime
scene. Other complications with volunteer management at disasters scenes include liability, security
level clearance and the need to verify the skill level or vocational trade specialty of each volunteer in
order to effectively match the volunteer s sill level with an appropriate job assignment. When a major
disaster occurs, the volume of volunteers can be overwhelming. Dynes stated that citizens respond in
the aftermath of a disaster wanting to do anything to help the

Creon Unjust Analysis
Antigone buries her brother Polynices s corpse, against the decree of Creon, the ruler. She has several
excuses she uses to justify her actions. First, she argues that Creon is unjust and she should not obey
him. Second, she says that the gods are not defied by her actions, since she believes Creon is not
accurately interpreting their wishes. Third, she believes that regardless of his political standing, her
brother deserves a proper burial. Lastly, she says that she must try to bury Polynices, because it is in
her nature to act according to love and not to bear grudges.
I do not think Creon is being unjust. Antigone admits that she knew of the decree, and was fully aware
of what she was doing when she disobeyed Creon. Antigone immediately

Should Transgender Students Be Allowed To Equal Access To...
When Gavin Grimm started his sophomore year at Gloucester High School in the 2013 2014 school
year, he and his mother informed the school administrators that the student legally changed his name
to Gavin, identifies as a male and is to be referred to by male pronouns. When Gavin was at school he
used the men s restrooms and this continued for seven weeks until parents of the students that attend
Gloucester High School and residents of Gloucester County started making complaints about it. As a
result to the complains, the Gloucester County School Board was going to put more privacy measures
into the restrooms but after more complaints and with a vote of 6 1, adopted a policy that states
transgender students be allowed to only use unisex, single stall restrooms or restrooms that correspond

Brown Vs Board Of Education
Yesterday my best friend, Brandon, and I went to the library located on Savannah State s campus to
study for our upcoming final exam. Even though Brandon is a Caucasian, people don t have a negative
outlook on our relationship just because I am an African American. It doesn t make much of a
difference to society when we are seen together, considering America symbolizes unity. Must I remind
you, it hasn t always been this way in America. in fact, Whites and Blacks weren t allowed to attend
the same school, let alone the same water fountain because of segregation. to many people this
situation was looked upon as ridiculous. Why should a person s skin tone determine where they should
be allowed to go? I shouldn t. This was going on way too long without anything being done about it.
Finally someone decided to take the problem to a new extent to bring about change. Brown vs Board
of education is one case that still has great significance in history. Not only did it have a huge effect on
segregation, but America as well would not be the same. My surroundings would totally change if this
case had not been established. Brandon would not be my best friend, and sadly without the
desegregation in schools, we would have never crossed paths. Oliver Brown stood as the
representative plaintiff in the case Brown vs. Borad of Education. He felt so strong about segregated
schools, becuase his daughter was denied entrance of a white school located in Topeka Kansas.

Analysis Of The Book Hello Latasha
Hello Latasha, I hope everything is well with your son and I understand your lack of posting because I
believe family comes first no matter what. I am happy to see that the brownie is back in the story and
you have done a great job switching between first and third person. I am still in love with the first
sentence because it really draws you into the story and makes the reader understand exactly how the
mood is feeling. It also shows the reader a glimpse into the setting and what kind of conditions this
place had. There were a couple of mechanical things I would like to point out to you that I feel can be
fixed easily with a good reread. The first thing I noticed was the story switches between past and
present tense; something I tend to do all the time and can easily be read over, but can be confusing for
some readers. The second thing I noticed was a bunch of run on sentences that created paragraphs;
what I mean is that it may look like a paragraph, but it s actually two very long sentences that can be
cut down into shorter sentences. The last mechanical thing I noticed was some punctuation and
grammar errors that can be spotted with a grammar website like Paperrater or Grammerly. I am #1
when it comes to screwing up grammar and punctuation so I use both of them to check my piece and
even then I still miss stuff. Usually at that point I hand it off to my sister. Have a family member,
friend, coworker or even stranger read your piece you will get and idea of where

Ernesto Quinonez s The Conversation Through Storytelling...
Ernesto Quinonez s novel is very influential and gives insight into the harsh reality of being a minority
in America. Quinonez also speaks on the history of the Latino culture and the life experiences. The
fabricated stories based on true events, affected Latinos as well as other nationalities. This book has
served its purpose and is speaking to families, friends, wives, husbands, and children on being aware
and conscious of the reality that surrounds them. This novel amazed me with the political and
historical content surrounding the Latino community, and it is extremely powerful as it shows
independence in its own culture. The novel uses its content to bring awareness of Latino ethnic
identity, their way of life, and defines social factors from within. (Barajas 2014)
Ernesto Quinonez sparks the conversation through storytelling using testimonials that transcends to
others, guiding their natives through these circumstances and strengthening their communities. Other
Latino writers, such as Cornell West and Susan Willis (both Latino writers), used their literature as a
platform to showcase the uniqueness of Latino ethnicity in the United States as well as expose the
division between Puerto Ricans and Americanized Puerto Ricans. (Barajas 2014)
The novel shows equality and gives the reader information on hardships experienced by Latinos
without a show of feelings or complaint. When reading the novel, I found it interesting to read that
Puerto Ricans are exiled and I found it

Reality Television and The Negative Impact on the...
With a sense of voyeurism millions of Americans tune into reality television every night without much
thought of the negative message these show project. Since 1948 with the inception of Candid Camera
viewers have been able to select between scripted television and reality television changing the nature
of at home entertainment. The Millennium marked a change with the Academy of Arts and Science
adding the reality genre to the Emmy Awards, celebrating ordinary people in unscripted situations.
However with more and more of theses shows glamorizing negative behavior and social situations as
well as taking away from scripted television and rewarding bad behavior it is no wonder the
Millennial and next generations are said to be doomed.
In recent years there has been an evolution in television networks that focus the majority of their
programing on reality television. Bravo which is owned by NBC originally focused on performing arts
and independent films shifted to a focus on pop culture, fashion and celebrities in 2003. The original
content of these shows was ways to better ones self with makeovers, however the birth of the Real

women in different area codes now playing out unscripted but seemingly over produced drama comes
the negative propaganda that this is how women are suppose to behave. These shows glamorize

Causes Of The American Revolution Dbq
The American Revolution was the culmination of tension between the free thinking and developing
Colonists and the dominating and tax imposing British. The war lasted from 1776 to 1783, but the
most important part of the war was the events leading up to it, in which Colonists began to develop
democratic thoughts about their social, political, economic, and religious life. People began to
understand democratic ideas and it s benefits, and many decided to make an active effort to increase
the amount of democracy in their life. Democratic is defined as favoring or characterized by social
equality. A democratic lifestyle is a fair and equal one, and the years leading up to the revolution
brought a democratic environment to the Colonies. Despite lack of greater property distribution, the
1700s brought great democratic change to Colonial America, which experienced a democratic
movement religiously in the separation of church and state, which led to social changes including
slavery and new thinking, that led to democratic and intellectual political reforms.
Although wealth and property distribution were not changed democratically, the ideas relating to
property distribution and commercial success were democratic and showed democratic progress. A
chart of the wealthiest adult white males in Wethersfield in 1756 and 1775 shows the rich people in
the town staying rich, as 4 out of the 5 wealthiest people kept the wealth within their families

The first instance occurs with the death of her father. Mr. Grierson died, leaving Miss Emily alone
with the house and his body to dispose of (325). Miss Emily did not take care of either the house or
the deceased body of her father (325). When the authorities came, she greeted them as if nothing was
wrong, and with no trace of grief in her face (325). The town even reportedly said that they hardly
ever see her at all after Mr. Grierson died and Miss Emily s companion had left her (324). Emily s
tendencies to never leave her house and to keep her father s dead body show signs of instability. Miss
Emily publicly displayed an unstable psyche when she told the men who came to collect her taxes to
refer to a man who had been dead for nearly ten years (324). A woman who expresses these
psychological abnormalities must be examined closely when she is as closely related to the crime as
Emily. Not only did her behavior concern others, it made them suspicious. Miss Emily also tried to
cover up her crime in the end. Emily concealed many aspects of her life from the eyes of the public.
She was much like a recluse in her home and could easily have planned all of her deeds in that
solitude. The townspeople were aware that, for some reason, Miss Emily had locked up the entire

Environmental Problems Of Overpopulation
As the population is growing upward of 7.6 billion people, the world is facing environmental
hardships. Since the population is growing to an unsustainable level, this issue becomes prominent for
all people. Due to the population increasing, resources such as food, water and fuel are becoming
scarce. Overpopulation, defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary, is the condition of having a
population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a
population crash. There are a few causes of overpopulation, such as the declining death rate, better
developed medicine, a lack of family planning and immigration. There is a recent decline in death
rates and an increase of birth rates, a main source of the population increase. When the population
increases, so do the environmental problems it entails. In the 18th century, philosopher Thomas
Malthus predicted that overpopulation would cause the Earth to be stripped of its resources. However,
the world has mostly taken concern with the growing numbers and not the environmental issues. The
problems that come with overpopulation include global warming, species extinction and deforestation,
loss of fresh water and depletion of natural resources. Overpopulation will eventually become the
world s most eminent environmental issue because the earth will not be able to sustain all of humanity.
Throughout history, overpopulation has been seen as a threat by three major people. First, Thomas
Malthus, in

Disadvantages Of Fossil Fuels
Ever since the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century, fossil fuels have seen a huge rise in
popularity. Used to power the economy and numerous factories, fossil fuels started the leap in
technology that gives us the power we take for granted today. Since the beginning of the oil industry
in the 19th century, petroleum has risen to global everyday usage. Initially kerosene, a product derived
from petroleum, was used for lighting and heating, but with the appearance of oil drilling technology
petroleum became mass produced. Used to generate electricity to power automobiles, ships, planes,
etc. Today the world is almost completely dependant on fossil fuels. World consumption of fossil fuels
has increased from 3.8 billion tons of oil in 1965 to 11.1 billion tons of oil in 2007. Of all the fossil
fuels available, oil has had the most profound effect on society. However, fossil fuels are a finite
resource. Fossil fuels work by converting the heat energy released by combustion into electrical
energy. Once the hard resources are extracted and refined, they are ready for use. When combustion
commences, the hydrocarbons present create energy. The heat used to burn the fossil fuels causes the
molecules of carbon and hydrogen to react, which produces a large amount of energy. When they are
exposed to heat, the hydrocarbon chain converts the heat energy from the fossil fuels to electrical
energy or mechanical energy. Coal power stations use similar features. They burn large

T Ball-Personal Narrative

The Effect Of Digital Analog Audio Signal Processing
Abstract
As technology advances, the research of digital signal processing is undergoing rapid development. At
present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics
applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP
application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech

In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system
which based on DSP technology.
In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical
system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of
unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response
(IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just
one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily
realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which
is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal
processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields.
This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do
sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the
system will be put forward.
Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter

from a few days to a few years since there are many people on the waiting list. This provokes the
controversial topic of legalization of compensation for organs. Bodily products should not be
marketable because it is immoral and possibly even dangerous. Organs were given to us when we
came to life. We should give them to others as they were given to us. Why should anyone have to pay
for something that can be given freely? If an organ is available, it should go to the person who needs it
the most. No one should have to worry about the cost of it. Donating an organ can save a life. If
someone cannot afford to pay for an organ, are we supposed to just let him or her die? That is not
morally right. While the government plans to save more lives by legalizing payment for organs, it won
t necessarily work out that way. According to the National Kidney Foundation, 92% of families who
turned down donating organs of their deceased loved ones said they still would not have donated even
if they received payment in return (237). This goes to show that even with money involved, most

Takeaways Analysis
On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132 113 in Game 2 of
the 2017 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2 0 series lead. Even though Cavaliers superstar LeBron
James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the most in
NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors.
Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show.
Here are three takeaways from Game 2:
1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP
After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do for
an encore performance in Game 2?
To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give
them an extra offensive boost in Game 2.
Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4 of 7
from three point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when you are
a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory.
A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc, putting
the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance.
The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if they
want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3 0 series lead.
3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all
Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned
earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 11
assists, but it was not enough.
Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo, attacking
the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also threw down a
powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, James teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. Just like in Game 1, J.R.
Smith, who

Glissade Research Paper
Le Glissade
The Glissade is a part of common Ballet choreography. It is a move that allows dancers to transport
themselves through time and music. This move thrills the body and its instruments are the legs. While
sitting in our seats what we see is grace. Music is playing and people are moving graciously to the
beat. When we first look at it, it seems like this is an easy move because of how effortlessly the
dancers move. However, by carefully watching dancers, we realize that this is a complex move that
requires planning, quick thinking, rhythm and control of the body. On the stage, what unfolds is a
wonderful story full of grace, strength and meaning for life and nature. The glissade is an image of
serenity, peace and happiness. Happiness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are most commonly done on the diagonal. A glissade is very often performed just before a sauté
chat, a cabriole and many other big jumps. As a travelling move, this move`s starting point is in fifth
position in a demi plie. Therefore, the dancers begin with bent legs. The working leg reaches about 20
degree off the floor, the dancer pushes off the supporting foot and extends it to the side. Then both leg
are straightened. As, one leg moves into the air with its foot pointed, the weight of the dancer is
shifted to the other leg. For a moment, the dancer is in the air with both legs and feet fully stretched
and pointed. For a moment, the dancer is in the air with both legs and feet fully stretched and pointed
as if in a sauté in second position. The other leg then moves quickly to meet the other. The working
leg then lands on the floor as the supporting leg (in the air already) quickly closes into fifth position.
The dancer then lands in fifth position again with their knees bent. This moves can be done to move
forward, backward, dessous ( under) and dessus (

Kashmir was first ceded by the Treaty of Lahore to the East India Company, and shortly after sold by

must be determined by the people of Kashmir. Pakistan always keep same just Jammu and Kashmir is
occupied territory exception of India. Pakistan seas fire signed under the coercive pressure. And is
here no legal and moral justification. And because the UN security council also accept the self

Why Fda s Launched Operation Barbarossa
Sunday June 22nd 1941 the Wehrmacht s launched operation Barbarossa; a full scale invasion of the
Soviet Union. After the success their blitzkrieg attack on France the Nazi s planned to do the same
except on a much larger scale. The high command was confident that it would be a swift and decisive
victory for them because they believed the Russian s to be primitive. The first part of the German
attack went as planned for Stalin didn t believe the German s would actually attack. The Wehrmacht
captured Leningrad, Kiev, and central Russia with little to no resistance and now had their sights set
on Moscow. However just as the officer s claimed to see the spirals of the Kremlin the soviet counter
offensive pushed them back with brutal Russian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the war even started Hitler didn t follow any of his advisors or generals advice however they
all played out in his favour. They told him not to occupy the Rhineland because of fear of retaliation
yet when he occupied it France and Britain did nothing. Even during the invasion of France he did not
follow the advice of his generals yet everything went his way. However after the successful invasion
of France his hubris took the better of him and started to play warlord. After 1941 he made a series of
decisions against his advisors best judgment that doomed Nazi German. The two most prominent
mistakes were the unprovoked declaration of war against the U.S and invading the Soviet Union. In
1941 Germany was clearly winning their single front war against Western Europe. France had been
defeated and Britain was kicked off mainland Europe, and to the East there was a truce with Russia.
Hitler wanted more living space for his new super breed of humans and was looking to the East for
new land for his new German Empire. While the Wehrmacht high command suggested to focus on
finishing off Britain before evading the USSR to a single front; Hitler again ignore his advisors and
went on with the attack. If he would have listened to his generals we would have never entered Russia
thus would never be placed in Stalingrad.

A down payment of $70,000 would be required, and a first year interest payment of $45,370 (Exhibit
9). It is expected that the two machines would run at 40% capacity bringing in incremental revenue of
$613,225, and incremental operating income of $234,855. The cost breakdown structure and the
incremental gains for the laser cutter and water cutter can be seen in Exhibit 10. The ROI at 40%
capacity is 33.80% (Exhibit 5), which is well above the banks lending rate. The payback period at
40% capacity is the lowest of all options at 3 years (Exhibit 6). With a score of 30, this option scored
the highest against the decision criteria (Exhibit 7). This is largely due strongest cash flow, highest
ROI, and emphasis on maintaining a high quality product and excellent costumer service.
Recommendations
Adamac should go ahead with the expansion plan to purchase a new laser cutter and water jet. The
two machines should be purchased as soon as possible. Together the two machines offer the best
incremental revenues, and have the shortest payback period, and highest ROI. The Down payment of
$70,000 will be taken from net earning last year, and a Loan for $630,000 amortized over 4 years will
be required. Adamac will no longer rely on outsourcing to competition allowing them focus on what
they do well, providing a quality product with superior customer service.

Weight Training Workout Program
If you want to really concentrate on body building, weight training is an important part of your
workout program. Weight training in body building is a very huge part of any exercise regimen, but
itís not the only part. However, when you have a strong weight training plan, your body building goals
become easier to achieve.
In order to work certain muscle groups, you need to lift weights that will provide resistance to those
areas. As you start your weight training body building program, remember to start small and work
your way up. That means start out with a weight that is difficult to lift, but you are able to do it with
some effort. As that weight gets easier to lift, add more. The idea is to build up slowly so you donít

The Decline Of A Fall
A fall is defined as inadvertently coming to rest on the ground, floor or some lower level, excluding
intentional change in position to rest. Another definition states that a fall is an event reported either by
the faller or a witness, resulting in a person inadvertently coming to rest on the ground or another
lower level, with or without loss of consciousness or injury. The worldwide population of the older
adult as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) may grow to 1.5 billion by the year 2050.
The astounding fact is that approximately eighty percent (80%) will be living in developing countries.

Considering the magnitude of the ageing population and socio economic changes around the world,
measures to keep older people healthy and active are of utmost importance. (WHO, 2007). In most
developed countries, population aging is a gradual process and most of the older adults live
independently. Traditionally it was the responsibility of the family to care for older adults. We find
ourselves in a care giving crisis as roles are changing, employment of women taking a major role,
erosion of traditional family values, and an increasing trend for nuclear families. (Dsouza, 2014). The
number of older adults living alone is increasing. Older adults are living both in residential care
facilities or nursing homes and most often on their own in communities for the aged. It is estimated
that more than 50% of those living in nursing homes and residential facilities fall every year and about
50% of these fall repeatedly. (CMS, 2014). The actual incidence is likely to be even higher, since
many falls are not reported. Falls often lead to reduced functioning, which increases morbidity and
mortality. Around 20% of falls need medical attention, 5 10% result in fractures (with one in five of
these being a hip fracture), severe head injuries and joint distortions, and 5 10% in soft tissue
contusions hcdxd lacerations. Fall induced injuries are the fifth leading cause of death in elderly adults

Learning Styles And Techniques Of Teaching
During my class in Curriculum, Methods, and Assessments: Science and Math, I have had the
opportunity to observe two different mathematic teachers. Through those observations I have gained
great knowledge and understanding. I was exposed to different teaching, learning styles and
techniques. Being able to observe a few different classrooms has given me an opportunity to witness
different aspects of teaching. Through all of my observations during college of teachers I am confident
that teaching is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I will touch on a few topics from my
observation throughout my paper such as, the objective of the lesson, types of methods the teachers
used, differentiation instruction, ways the teachers assess learning in the classroom and changes that I
could make to the lesson.
For my observations at Metzger Middle School, I had the opportunity to observe Ms. Williams and
Ms. James sixth grade Mathematics classrooms. During Ms. Williams first period she had a Co
Teacher to assist her students that were ESLs (1 student) and IEP/504 (5 students). A student that was
in a wheelchair was also amongst the students; accommodations were made for this student, for
example; the co teacher had the student that was sitting in the first chair by the door move back a desk
so that the student could put his chair up the desk. Some of the methods that the teacher provided were
mathematical reference sheets and formula charts to help them when answering

  • 2. Discrimination, Discrimination And Discrimination Essay Unfortunately, discrimination has been occurring in America for hundreds of years. Evidence proves this when the European settlers began colonizing America and making the Native American people their slaves. It didn t stop there, discrimination and racism was even more apparent when the Jim Crow Laws were passed. The Jim Crow Laws enforced segregation between the whites and the African Americans. For years, the unlucky Americans of all races, colors, and sexual orientation have endured discrimination at some point in their lives. One major issue that many Americans endure is discrimination in the work place. Throughout the years, learning how to avoid discrimination has become a priority. Police chief Crystal Moore of Latta, South Carolina had to experience her own battle with discrimination. Chief Moore has been the Police Chief of Latta County for 23 years when she was fired for reasons believing related to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender or LGBT lifestyle. Chief Moore is an openly Lesbian Police Chief who has not encountered any issues prior to being fired by Mayor Earl Bullard. Mayor Bullard had become Mayor this year, in 2016. When Mayor Bullard was questioned about the termination of police chief Moore, he claimed it was due to the seven reprimands of questionable behavior, difficulty with maintaining order and other reasons that were not disclosed. Chief Moore claimed none of those reprimands were true, and she had done nothing wrong or unethical. Chief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Describe The Fynbos Biome The Fynbos biome is the name given to the indigenous vegetation that puts the garden. Many plants that are popular worldwide today had their origins in the fynbos biome. Many fynbos species are typically confined to acidic nutrient poor sandstone soils. Fynbos is the name given to a type of vegetation. It is a shrubby, hard leaved, evergreen type of vegetation. Fynbos is characterized by the presence of reed like plants. Fynbos makes up sixty seven percent of the fynbos biome. It is the vegetation that gives the Cape region most of it s unique floristic characteristics. The Fynbos Biome is exquisite, but fragile. From rugged mountain slope and rolling sandy dunes to marshy plains, the fynbos biome is incredibly distinct. Fynbos biome is unique because it has adapted to extreme conditions. Fynbos has the ability to withstand. Although it contains by far the greatest number of species and has the highest levels of endemism. Fynbos biome includes three major vegetation formations largely confined to the nutrient poor soils, it has the highest number of rare and endangered taxa. . The intervals between fires must allow the slowest growing plant to flower at least three successive seasons. The fynbos is located in the winter rainfall region. • 5. An Analysis of the Airline Industry My industry analysis will be about the airline industry. Nature of competition The airline industry is in a state of oligopoly, bordering onto the state of imperfect competition. The various aspects that have a bearing on the nature of competition will be covered subsequently. Imperfect information. There is imperfect information about the airline market. This can be gauged by the fact that airlines are never sure as to what is the exact demand for seats on any route over the period of the year. While airlines make fairly accurate guesses about the number of passengers depending upon season, holidays and weekdays, the goal of ensuring that each aircraft flies with passengers occupying all the seats in the aircraft is seldom met. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because there is considerable scope to outsource common services such as catering, ground handling, aircraft maintenance and reservations. Leasing of aircraft is one method of deferring huge capital costs. If sufficient passengers are attracted to an airline, it will cross the break even point (Sundaresan). Therefore, from the point of view of barriers to entry, the airline industry can be categorized as one having imperfect competition or an oligopoly. Domestic airlines are closer to a state of imperfect competition, while international airlines function as an oligopoly. Suppliers. Airplanes, labor and fuel are the major ingredients in running an airline. There are only two major builders of commercial airplanes in the world Boeing and Airbus. As a result, their pricing does impact the industry standards to a great degree. However, this is offset by current trends of leasing aircraft and also by the fact that aircraft purchases span several years, and the effects of purchases are factored into the business models of airlines. Labor such as pilots, cabin crew and ground support staff is typically unionized and retains some bargaining power. However, post deregulation, airlines have the option to invoke Chapter 11 clauses of bankruptcy, to avoid undue pressure form labor unions. Stuart Riley PJMN501 October 28, 2012 Change Management, if implemented well, has the ability to make transitions positive, possible and profitable. It goes without saying that change is a part of life. From the moment we are born until the moment we pass away, change is occurring in us and around us. That being the case, it needs to be clearly stated that organizations, companies and institutions are much like individuals. No organization is able to exist without the people that work within their walls or the clients that utilize their services or products. If change is inevitable and constant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we were dealing with inanimate objects with no feelings, thoughts, or consciousness, change would certainly be more easily implemented. As I stated earlier, organizations are made up of and rely on people. People often look to their leaders when change is to be implemented. Some might suggest that Leadership is about change. In the 2008 Presidential Election, Barrack Obama ran his campaign based on the slogan Change you can believe in . That being said, what does a leader do when he or she runs into strong resistance to change and what does that resistance look like? Resistance can manifest itself in several different ways. According Paul R. Lawrence, Such resistance may take a number of forms persistent reduction in output, increase in the number of quits and requests for transfer, chronic quarrels, sullen hostility, wildcat or slowdown strikes, and, of course, the expression of a lot of pseudo logical reasons why the change will not work . Lawrence made this observation in 1969 and remarkably, today s experts agree that not much has changed with respect to the manner in which resistance manifests itself in the modern workplace Kotter and Schlesinger (1979) mention that negative responses to change from individuals and groups can vary from passive resistance to aggressive attempts to undermine it. The experts agree that people are resistant to change and if the change managers don t win over the hearts and minds of those that require a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you ve read our two part series about Honest Marketing Techniques What s Wrong With Online Marketing Advertising Practices you already know there are issues with uncontrolled advertising on the internet. Perhaps you ve already been burned by purchasing a bad product, or with luck, you ve only been suspicious that a given product may not be what it seems to be. Blind copy on a $37 or $77 price point will sell the living daylights out of your product. It will also destroy your customer list you just built, send refunds through the roof and create support nightmares. Yes, I know that if you are an affiliate, you don t have to deal with the support issues, but you will have lower income and ClickBank will withhold larger amounts from your checks to cover the anticipated refund rates. Compare that to the copy for an ethical advertisement. You get real information about what you ARE going to get, so you know what to expect when you download the product. • 9. Popular Culture And Social Media Essay Popular culture was, and perhaps still is, seen as a touchy and risky topic that should not be experimented in by many educational institutions. Callahan and Low (2004) point out that popular culture is looked upon unfavorably due to its fluid nature and habit of putting teachers in zones outside their expertise and familiarity (p.52). Additionally, as described by Gutiérrez (2011) popular culture and the fandoms that inevitably followed were believed to create a single path by which the individual merely payed tribute to a source material without having ever gained or learned anything in return (p.227). Furthermore, Hull and Stornaiuolo (2010) assert that formal, or standardized, schooling is skeptical of the potential educational value while magnifying the potential risks of popular culture and social media (p 85), perhaps prompting instructors to stick to traditional techniques in lieu of potential dangers, to both students and their own job security. Why then, despite the potentially debilitating aspects of popular culture in the classroom, do some teachers still choose to incorporate them? Admittedly, I observed very few instances of pop culture implementation during my first field experience, however those that did incorporate popular culture did so naturally, enthusiastically, and so masterfully that it was without a doubt beneficial when compared to classes that were kept material dry and by the books. Therefore, the real question becomes: How do teachers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is much more benefits that come with the exposure to the sun than harm. Vitamin D that our body produces when we are exposed to the sun is very efficient in curing so many diseases. It protects from arthritis, diabetes, infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis and some kinds of cancer, just to name a few. It has been proven that the Earth s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. In Europe doctors prescribe vitamin D for infants to prevent those kinds of problems, and also they recommend daily walks in the sun. That is why the children in Europe don t have rickets as often as in United States. The doctors here depend on the vitamins that are in the formula, but it is not enough. A study published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that 75 percent or more of American teens and adults are deficient in Vitamin D. That is why we have so many serious illnesses, like cancer, diabetes and heart disease (Huff, 2010). Infectious diseases are more seen in people living in places with less sun during winter months, we know those as influenza virus or simply cold. The sun in those places is unable to produce vitamin D and that is why we get sick so often. The people that live in the warm places, where the vitamin D is produced all year round, don t get sick as often (Holick, 2008). Diabetes is a very big problem in United States, but if we listen to what researchers had found, we can try to prevent people from getting this disease by staying in the sun. It has been proven that it can lower 80 percent, if we start giving our infants 2,000 IU of vitamin D during the first year of life. The research also shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As nation states have grown, so too have the forces that protect it. Large armies that need to move any distance from their home bases need to bring their supplies with them or procure them on the move. Supplying these armies has always been a challenge, and it will continue to be a challenge in the future. Many great military leaders faced these issues; the greatest advances in logistics did not appear in warfare until the 17th century and many of them continued into the 21st century. These advances were the beginning of modern military logistics and the basis of how nations supply their armies today. Although the logistical systems continue to evolve in many ways during the past four centuries, it still is not perfect. Since ancient times, states recognized that feeding an army was difficult and multiple methods were employed in an attempt to meet the needs of soldiers. While in garrison, food generally was not too difficult to procure. However, food was not always as readily available when armies were on the march. The states had limited methods for dealing with the issue of supplying food and other supplies, and when soldiers needs were not met, they began resorting to stealing, buying, and plundering. In the 17th century, soldiers not receiving pay or food would do as they pleased, raping, pillaging, and robbing those in nearby villages to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emile Durkheim’S Book Elementary Forms Of Religious Life Emile Durkheim s book Elementary Forms of Religious Life serves as a religious guide from the perspective of primitive societies by focusing on understanding the key principles of religion by studying these groups and drawing similarities to major ideologies based off of their key elements and rituals. His goal from this research was to figure out the origins of religion itself. His study focused on the aborigines, the indigenous people of Australia. The second says religion is a tool used for formulating societies throughout the ages and our world today, our geographic distribution, has been accounted for based off of the religious identities of our past societies. Opposers of Durkheim s ideas hold religions to be of unequal standing, saying all religions do not all have the same measure of truth. To them, Durkheim argues that to understand his approach one must reach beneath the symbolism, grasp the reality it represents and understand its true meaning. In a sense, he is saying that by understanding one religion, you have the capacity to understand another. To achieve the author s goal, he utilizes Aristotle s categories of understanding time, space, number, cause, substance, and personality all corresponding to universal properties. The law for the minimum drinking age allows people 21 and older to legally drink alcoholic beverages. It is hard to enforce this law especially on college campuses where lots of underage drinking takes place. Someone that is 18 and older can get into some clubs where they are getting drinks even though they are not supposed to. There is a level of responsibility they needs to be taken when people are drinking. They should know how to handle themselves when alcohol is in their system. Consuming too many alcoholic beverages can cause health issues, behavior issues, and have other harmful effects on a person. The issues that come along with drinking alcohol will affect teenagers and college students more than it would affect someone that is 21 or older. The minimum drinking age law should remain at 21 to keep more young adults from encountering issues associated with drinking. Young adults that are in the age range of 18 20 are more likely to be more reckless than someone who is older and more mature. Adolescents hit the age of 18 and feel like they are grown and finally able to do what they want to do. Some have already started drinking alcohol and will start to drink it more frequently. Introduction: Emergency Management organizations cannot adequately provide the colossal workforce necessary to safely and resourcefully manage the response and recovery operations of large scale disasters without the assistance of volunteers. The alacrity of civilians to help in times of need has traditionally resulted in a large number of citizen volunteers to concurrently congregate onto disaster scenes to assist the center of operations. The concern attributed to this type of assistance is the disorderly arrival of a large number of volunteers immediately following a large scale disaster can have negative consequences, such as preventing entry and egress to and from the disaster area by blocking streets with their personal owned vehicles, becoming injured themselves and disturbing evidence in a potential crime scene. Other complications with volunteer management at disasters scenes include liability, security level clearance and the need to verify the skill level or vocational trade specialty of each volunteer in order to effectively match the volunteer s sill level with an appropriate job assignment. When a major disaster occurs, the volume of volunteers can be overwhelming. Dynes stated that citizens respond in the aftermath of a disaster wanting to do anything to help the ... Overpopulation, defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary, is the condition of having a population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash. There are a few causes of overpopulation, such as the declining death rate, better developed medicine, a lack of family planning and immigration. There is a recent decline in death rates and an increase of birth rates, a main source of the population increase. When the population increases, so do the environmental problems it entails. Used to power the economy and numerous factories, fossil fuels started the leap in technology that gives us the power we take for granted today. Since the beginning of the oil industry in the 19th century, petroleum has risen to global everyday usage. Initially kerosene, a product derived from petroleum, was used for lighting and heating, but with the appearance of oil drilling technology petroleum became mass produced. Used to generate electricity to power automobiles, ships, planes, etc. Today the world is almost completely dependant on fossil fuels. World consumption of fossil fuels has increased from 3.8 billion tons of oil in 1965 to 11.1 billion tons of oil in 2007. Of all the fossil fuels available, oil has had the most profound effect on society. However, fossil fuels are a finite resource. Fossil fuels work by converting the heat energy released by combustion into electrical energy. Once the hard resources are extracted and refined, they are ready for use. When combustion commences, the hydrocarbons present create energy. The heat used to burn the fossil fuels causes the molecules of carbon and hydrogen to react, which produces a large amount of energy. When they are exposed to heat, the hydrocarbon chain converts the heat energy from the fossil fuels to electrical energy or mechanical energy. Coal power stations use similar features. I was one of those kids, and during a T ball game the first signs of an issue that would haunt me for years to come appeared. In the dugout during a t ball game, I was sitting on a bench waiting to go up to bat. A teammate asked me if the player currently up to bat was my brother. I turned to him and said, That is my brodder. He looked confused and responded with He is your budder? No, I countered, He is my broffer. With an even more confused look he asked me again, He is your buffer? Now I was annoyed. I thought I sounded normal, but he was looking at me like I had a third eye. He. is. My. broffer! I said, exaggerating the word slowly and condescendingly. That is where the memory cuts off. I don t remember whether he finally understood what I was trying to say, or if I just gave up in frustration. Although this casual conversation may seem like a one time thing, it was not. At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc.. With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and more high quality requirements of audio. In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system which based on DSP technology. In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields. This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the system will be put forward. We are born with them, and they work throughout our lives to keep us alive and well. Some people aren t so lucky and may have an organ dysfunction or health issue that requires them to get an organ transplant. In this case, a donor whose tissue cells match the recipient s must be the one to donate. However, this process could take from a few days to a few years since there are many people on the waiting list. This provokes the controversial topic of legalization of compensation for organs. Bodily products should not be marketable because it is immoral and possibly even dangerous. Organs were given to us when we came to life. We should give them to others as they were given to us. Why should anyone have to pay for something that can be given freely? If an organ is available, it should go to the person who needs it the most. No one should have to worry about the cost of it. Donating an organ can save a life. If someone cannot afford to pay for an organ, are we supposed to just let him or her die? That is not morally right. While the government plans to save more lives by legalizing payment for organs, it won t necessarily work out that way. According to the National Kidney Foundation, 92% of families who turned down donating organs of their deceased loved ones said they still would not have donated even if they received payment in return (237).
