Wireless Power Transmission System

Objective
 Wireless Power Transfer(WPT) is the transmission of
electrical energy without wires as a physical link.
WPT nowadays are used in mobile charging
applications .
 Our project focuses on overcoming this problem up to some
extent by designing a WPT system which is powered using
230V, 50Hz single phase AC.
Work done :
The WPT system mainly comprises of 5 blocks :
 AC – DC Rectifier
 High Frequency DC – AC Inverter
 Transmission and Receiving coils
 AC - DC High Frequency Rectifier
 DC –DC Buck Converter
 AC to DC Rectifier
• At the input side an AC voltage of 40V , 50Hz is
passed into the Full-Bridge Rectifier Circuit.
 Components used : GBXJ2510, Filter Capacitor.
 Output Obtained
• A DC voltage of 60V is obtained as the output
for the AC – DC rectifier block.
Calculations:
AC – DC Rectifier
 DC to AC High Frequency Inverter
• The rectified DC voltage obtained from
Rectifier is converted into high frequency AC
voltage using a H-Bridge Inverter.
 Components used : IRF840, SCS220AG
Output Obtained:
• AC voltage of 53 V is obtained as the output
for DC – AC High Frequency Inverter block.

 Gate Drive Circuit
• This circuit Drives the High frequency
Inverter.
• SG3525N generates the PWM pulses
which switches the corresponding
MOSFET’s at 130kHz with the help of gate
drive IC IR2104.
 Components used : SG3525N, IR2104
Calculations:
Gate Drive Circuit
 Transmission and Receiving Coils
• The output Voltage obtained from DC-AC high
frequency inverter is transmitted to the
receiving coil by maintaining the circuit in
resonance.
• A series LC and Parallel LC combination at
Transmission and Receiving Ends is used.
• Transmission coil : 22 turns, 31.65uH, 47nF
• Receiving coil : 18 turns, 20.40uH, 66nF

High Frequency Rectifier
• The High frequency AC voltage
obtained in the receiving coil is
rectified to DC voltage using a high
frequency rectifier circuit.
• Components: SCS220AG, Capacitor
High frequency Rectifier
Output
DC to DC Buck Converter
• The DC output obtained from the High
Frequency Rectifier circuit is
converted to low voltage efficiently
using a DC – DC Buck Converter.
• IC used : LM5576MH
• Output Obtained : 24V DC
• Design Equation as per application
note of LM5576MX series IC

Wireless Power Transmission

  • 1. Wireless Power Transmission System Presented by, Yogesh Raju N R Electrical and Electronics Engineering Sir MVIT
  • 2. Objective  Wireless Power Transfer(WPT) is the transmission of electrical energy without wires as a physical link. WPT nowadays are used in mobile charging applications .  Our project focuses on overcoming this problem up to some extent by designing a WPT system which is powered using 230V, 50Hz single phase AC.
  • 3. Work done : The WPT system mainly comprises of 5 blocks :  AC – DC Rectifier  High Frequency DC – AC Inverter  Transmission and Receiving coils  AC - DC High Frequency Rectifier  DC –DC Buck Converter
  • 4.  AC to DC Rectifier • At the input side an AC voltage of 40V , 50Hz is passed into the Full-Bridge Rectifier Circuit.  Components used : GBXJ2510, Filter Capacitor.  Output Obtained • A DC voltage of 60V is obtained as the output for the AC – DC rectifier block.
  • 6. AC – DC Rectifier
  • 7.  DC to AC High Frequency Inverter • The rectified DC voltage obtained from Rectifier is converted into high frequency AC voltage using a H-Bridge Inverter.  Components used : IRF840, SCS220AG Output Obtained: • AC voltage of 53 V is obtained as the output for DC – AC High Frequency Inverter block.
  • 9. DC – AC High Frequency Inverter
  • 11.  Gate Drive Circuit • This circuit Drives the High frequency Inverter. • SG3525N generates the PWM pulses which switches the corresponding MOSFET’s at 130kHz with the help of gate drive IC IR2104.  Components used : SG3525N, IR2104
  • 14.  Transmission and Receiving Coils • The output Voltage obtained from DC-AC high frequency inverter is transmitted to the receiving coil by maintaining the circuit in resonance. • A series LC and Parallel LC combination at Transmission and Receiving Ends is used. • Transmission coil : 22 turns, 31.65uH, 47nF • Receiving coil : 18 turns, 20.40uH, 66nF Components used: Litz wire
  • 17. High Frequency Rectifier • The High frequency AC voltage obtained in the receiving coil is rectified to DC voltage using a high frequency rectifier circuit. • Components: SCS220AG, Capacitor
  • 19. DC to DC Buck Converter • The DC output obtained from the High Frequency Rectifier circuit is converted to low voltage efficiently using a DC – DC Buck Converter. • IC used : LM5576MH • Output Obtained : 24V DC • Design Equation as per application note of LM5576MX series IC
