                “Può la Internet delle Cose,
                contribuire a salvare questo
                Pianeta?”
Ovviamente la risposta è…
Quale il cambiamento?

• OGGI:
 Mobilità avanzata: iPhone / Android

• DOMANI:
Oggetti e Sensori Connessi alla Rete,
 “Internet of Things”

         Sensors powered by trees

Posted by David Pescovitz, October 7, 2008 10:02 AM
MIT researchers are developing a novel power scavenging systes for
small wireless sensors that monitor for forest fires. The sensors are
powered by the trees themselves. Each sensor's battery is trickle
charged with the electricity generated by the imbalance in pH between
         the tree and the soil.

         From the MIT News Office:
The system produces enough electricity to allow the temperature and
humidity sensors to wirelessly transmit signals four times a day, or
immediately if there's a fire. Each signal hops from one sensor to
another, until it reaches an existing weather station that beams the data
by satellite to a forestry command center in Boise, Idaho.

Shuguang Zhang, one of the researchers on the project and the associate
director of MIT's Center for Biomedical Engineering (CBE).
A cosa serve la Internet
     of THINGS?
Ogni problema necessità (anche)
    di tecnologie adeguate
• Monitorare il Clima

• Ottimizzare produzione
    e consumi energetici

• Garantire la sicurezza

• Controllare la presenza
    di inquinanti

• Seguire le Specie in via di
    estinzione
La Internet of Things
 serve alle persone?
Dipende! Se la IoT è aperta, SI.
OPEN Internet of THINGS
Global Warming
• 99% of the scientific studies on Climate Crisis
    advise to reduce C02 emissions

• Imagine giving to every person the power to
measure the C02 levels in every moment of his
life: walking on the streets, picking up kids at
school, watching tv at home, etc.

• Imagine everyone being able to share the
    collected data automatically, creating a
worldwide picture of global pollution measured
    directly by the people.

• People would be part of the planet’s breath, by
being directly involved into saving this planet.

• This could give an emotional answer to
everyone concerns, while providing a means to
be actively part of a solution.

  • 15. Alimentare Miliardi di Sensori Sensors powered by trees Posted by David Pescovitz, October 7, 2008 10:02 AM MIT researchers are developing a novel power scavenging systes for small wireless sensors that monitor for forest fires. The sensors are powered by the trees themselves. Each sensor's battery is trickle charged with the electricity generated by the imbalance in pH between the tree and the soil. From the MIT News Office: The system produces enough electricity to allow the temperature and humidity sensors to wirelessly transmit signals four times a day, or immediately if there's a fire. Each signal hops from one sensor to another, until it reaches an existing weather station that beams the data by satellite to a forestry command center in Boise, Idaho. Shuguang Zhang, one of the researchers on the project and the associate director of MIT's Center for Biomedical Engineering (CBE).

  • 19. La Internet of Things serve alle persone? Dipende! Se la IoT è aperta, SI.
  • 21. Global Warming • 99% of the scientific studies on Climate Crisis advise to reduce C02 emissions • Imagine giving to every person the power to measure the C02 levels in every moment of his life: walking on the streets, picking up kids at school, watching tv at home, etc. • Imagine everyone being able to share the collected data automatically, creating a worldwide picture of global pollution measured directly by the people. • People would be part of the planet’s breath, by being directly involved into saving this planet. • This could give an emotional answer to everyone concerns, while providing a means to be actively part of a solution.
