Oftentimes, new teachers are provided with little to no professional guidance, and
because of that, nearly fifty percent of teachers leave the classroom within the first
five years. This turnover rate not only has an impact on kids, since they lose the
person they were connected with, but it also costs the nation roughly 7.4 billion
dollars a year. This video, which focuses on the Hillsborough County Public School
System, in Tampa, Florida, brings to light the importance of mentor teachers for first
and second year teachers. Through the gathering of evidence and classroom
observations, these mentor teachers provide the passion for new teachers and help to
unlock their potential. Since the implementation of the mentor program their
retention of new teachers has gone from 72% to 94%.

Persuasive Essay On Foster Care
Foster Care, the Need for Change
Since the 1970 s, many debates and arguments have formed over the problems in
the Florida foster care system. Some of the arguments were made as to whether
different races should become foster families or whether or not is was suitable for
gay couples to foster children. Another issue that arose was the children with special
needs or older children that people didn t want. As the foster system grew, it began to
experience setbacks. There were now more children needing homes than available
homes. The foster care system became full of problems. Foster parents started to
complain about not having an adequate support system. The children were not
receiving the medical treatments they needed. And foster children were staying in the
system so long that some were aging out. Those that age out a were not receiving
any support or training to cope with adult life. There was also a shortage in funding.
In addition, there had become an alarming number of child abuse and neglect cases
within the foster families. Although some aspects of foster care have improved, some
changes still need to be made.
By 2017, the foster care system has made vast improvements to the program.

In the case against Sage Rent A Car the defendant filed a surety bond with the
superintendent of insurance when it incorporated. Therefore, the court should
dismiss the suit against Sage Rent A Car for failing to state a claim under rule
NMRA 1 012B(6). Also under section 66 5 207(E) (1988) of the New Mexico
Financial Responsibility Act states, a motor vehicle approved as a self insured by
the superintendent of insurance is exempt from the act. Therefore, the defendant
is not liable for any damages due to filing a surety bond with the New Mexico
superintendent and for being self insured. Lastly, under New Mexico case law Las

Essay The Taliban and Afghanistan
The Taliban and Afghanistan
Afghanistan followed the same fate as dozens of formerly Soviet occupied countries
after the collapse of Moscow s Marxist government in 1991. Islamic factions, which
had united to expel the Russian occupiers in 1992, began to fight among themselves
when it became apparent that post communist coalition governments could not
overcome the deep rooted ethnic and religious differences of the members. It was in
this atmosphere of economic strife and civil war that a fundamentalist band of
religious students emerged victorious. By 1996, this group, the
Taliban, ruled 90% of the country with a controversial holy iron hand. The other 10%

Personal Narrative Essay
First, when I was four years old, me and my older brother started asking our parents
if we could have a baby brother. After that, my parents started to laugh and told us
that probably not because they were good with only two kids. Me and my brother
were disappointed and decided to convince our parents no matter what. After a while,
my parents got tire of hearing us complain about getting a baby brother and they told
us that we were not getting one. Then, the next month my motherstarted getting a
little fat. My Mom told me that she had to go to the hospital because she was sick.
A few months went by and my Mom was getting fatter every month. I started to
worry about my mom, so I started asking her if she was going to get better. After I
asked her, she told me to go get my older brother because she had to tell us
something really important. When I got him and came back with my Mom, I got
really scared because I thought she was going to tell us that she was really sick. A
few moments later she told us Listen, remember when you asked me if you guys
could have a baby brother, well, we you re not going to get one but two twin
brothers! After that I thought she was lying and I started to get mad until she told
me that she was actually saying the truth and that s when I got shocked and I thought
myhead was going to explode. That was one of the best days of my life.
It was August seventh when my mom had a doctor s appointment and she was told

The Culture Of China Has Deeply Ingrained
The culture of China has deeply engrained commitment to learning its citizenry by
placing high meaning on book learning and formal education than other civilizations.
Education in china was placed as a path to government career since they were
determined to bureaucratic appointment, a path to prestige and authority by eligible
men of humble birth to rise to the top. This is unlike the US because leaders wished
to develop well rounded citizens but there were others who advocated for more
practical goals of learning modern science and technology to reform the country in
countering western imperialism (Mohrman, Geng, Wang, 2011). Attaining the status
of a Professorone must sustain a distinguished track record of scholarly achievement
within one universityand academic discipline to be promoted from an associate
professor. The position of professor is usually tenured but not for private and church
affiliated institutions (BISO, 2010). The status of a professor is the highest of the
standard academic ranks with advancement past the rank of professor involves
administrative duties. There is no mandatory retirement age in this occupation and
full professor in the US is around 55 years with only few people attains the position
before attaining that age. Full professor earn on average 70% more than the associate
professor in the same institution but those in private institutions earn less (Kim,
2012). Promotion of professors comes with increased administrative responsibilities
The Fifth And Final Leadership Challenge
Leadership Challenge Five
Summary
The fifth and final leadership challenge is an inspirational message to readers who
learn how to Encourage the Heart of their followers. Kouzes Posner (2012) explain
that, to further develop a highly effective team, leaders must recognize contributions
by showing appreciation for individual excellence, and celebrate the values and
victories by creating a spirit of community (p. 272). The importance of a highly
motivated team who feels appreciated should not be understated, and is an integral
aspect of organizational leadership. Kouzes Posner explain that to keep hope and
determination alive, leaders recognize contributions that individuals make. In every
winning team, the members need to share in the rewards of their efforts, so leaders
celebrate accomplishments. They make people feel like heroes (Kouzes Posner,
2016, about sec).
Recognizing the contributions of others requires leaders to expect the best from their
team. When leaders set the tone of high expectations the organization takes on an
efficacious culture where excellence is the established norm. A self fulfilling
prophecy of high expectations envelopes the group as a whole. Kouzes Posner write
that Exemplary Leaders elicit high performance because they strongly believe in the
abilities of their constituents to achieve even the most challenging goals (p. 276).
Belief in the efficacy of others as a stand alone attribute is only a half measure.

INTRODUCTION Lipids are organic compounds found in living organisms that are
insoluble or slightly soluble in water but soluble in non polar organic solvents.
Lipids can be classified into four groups which are fats, oils, and waxes, compound
lipids, steroids, and derived lipids.
Various experiments are done on lipids. Some tests are for saturation, presence of
certain compounds, or for the different chemical reactions that lipids undergo.
Lipids may be composed of esters, amides, alcohols, cyclic, acyclic, or polycyclic ...

It is predominantly composed of the elements carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Many
classes of lipids also contain nitrogen and phosphorus. The relative amounts of these
elements, as well as their structural positions, determine the degree of solubility of the
lipid in various solvents. Lipids with high hydrocarbon content are relatively
nonpolar in nature and insoluble in water. The ionic character of a lipid can be
altered by changes in solvent pH. For example, if the solvent contains a strong acid
or a strong base, hydrolysis of some of the ester bonds will occur. When this
happens, the products of hydrolysis may have solubility properties very different
from those of the original lipid molecule.
Structures of the different Samples and Solvents
Sample 1: Vegetable Oil (Oleic acid)
Oleic acid has the chemical formula C17H33COOH
Due to its large nonpolar portion, oleic acid is insoluble in water and, being less
dense than water, it floats on the water surface. The polar COOH end, however, is
attracted to water molecules. So, a thin coating of oleic acid on the surface of water

These companies run the Air Traffic ControlTowers just like government employees
would, but much more cheaply and efficiently (The Beginning of Air Traffic
Control). Air Traffic Controllers that work for private companies make a median of
$60,000 $65,000. This is much lower than a federally funded Air Traffic Control
Tower. Employee salaries are the largest cost to the Air Traffic Control Tower
budget. This allows contracted Air Traffic Control Towers to spend much less money
to run and operate. The United States government could save a lot of money by
simple contracting all of the Air Traffic Control Towers.
Airport safety is one of the Federal Aviation Administration s biggest concerns.
They are tasked with tracking over 10,400,000 commercial flights every year, not
including military and non commercial flights (Canavan). Collisions and crashes
are the two major causes of injuries and death. Air travel accidents date all of the
way back to 1908 (Old). Orville Wright, one of the original inventors of the airplane,
was flying a demonstration for the military when a propeller suddenly was ripped off
of the airplane. The passenger, Lieutenant Selfridge was killed when the plane hit the
ground (Old). The Federal Aviation Administration has come a long way since the
1960 s to improve safety (Mission). They have implemented various systems such as

Daycare Centers Are More Beneficial For Children s...
Approximately 60 percent of U.S. children aged five and younger have spent time
in a child care setting (Wohlgenant, et al). This number is increasing and the need
for child care continues to be more and more demanding. The big question is
whether daycare centers, home care faculties, or the stay at home mom the best
choice for children? Overall daycare centers are more beneficial to children s
social, emotional, and educational development because of the center tighter
guidelines. About 57 percent of children are in some type of child care based in a
daycare center, while 23 percent were cared for at home by a relative of some sort,
and 12 percent are in home care facilities (Davidson 671). Over half of children are
in a daycare center, meaning that is the right choice for children when we can provide
the right staff, education, social and emotional atmosphere. Every parent wants their
child to have the most one on one time with the teacher or daycare provider to help
improve the child s education. Within daycare centers, they have requirements on the
staff to child ratio and the maximum group size they can maintain. The Child Care
Center Licensing guidelines state that for every four infants there must be one staff
member and the group maximum capacity is eight children (9). This indicates that
there will be at least two staff members with just the infants and more staff for the
older age groups. As the children get older and become more independent, the

The Battle Of Saratoga And Indian War
Boom! Boom! Boom! Do you hear that? That s what led to the revolution. Some
events that led to the revolution are: The French and Indian War, The Battle of
Saratoga and many other events. The American Revolution was between the
Americans led by George Washington , and the British led by General Howe and
General Cornwallis. The two enemies have been fighting for several of years.
There are series of wars that led to the revolution. These series if wars lasted for
several of years also. This is were the war begins. The Navigation Act was passed
between 1650 and 1696. It limited colonial trade by using the system of
merchantalism. It forbade colonist from trading specific items such as sugar and
cotton. The colonist reactions were different though. They would end up protesting
about the unfair taxes, and requirements they were expected to follow under the
act. England responded to these protest by saying it would benefit everyone
because there was was a steady market for these goods in England. Not all colonist
agreed. Some resorted to smuggling items in and out of the colonies because of the
way the British were treating them. Do you know what the French and Indian war
was over? The war was between the British and French over the fur trade. The trade
smacked the British and the colonist right in the face. Prime Minister, George
Grenville, asked parliament to pass higher taxes on the colonies to pay for the war
debt and protection. Colonist believed that
How Patanjali Is Considered A Divine Messenger
Upanishadic wisdom converged on a shared belief in a universal law that guided the
abiding presence of religious and metaphysical forces in the lives of individuals and
of the collective destiny of all things in the universe. The Upanishadic teachings help
us to understand how yoga evolved.
Patanjali is historically understood to have been a divine messenger, born some
time between 500 BC and 200 BC. The dates are uncertain to this day as the lives
of the great sages and mystics were not measured according to modern calendars,
but rather, were imbued by the living oral traditions that defined Upanishadic
wisdom and knowledge. Some traditions held that Pantanjali was not born of mother
and father but was rather the incarnation of the god Adiesea. Adisesa is a great king
cobra whose body is the seal of the god Vishnu. The legend continues that the god
Shiva, the king of dance, invited Vishnu and other deities to see his famous dance,
Tandava Nritya. As Shiva danced, Vishnu immersed his own consciousnessin the
moment. His physical being undulated in rhythm with the graceful movements of
Shiva. During the performance of the dance, Vishnu was seated on Adisesa, the
great cobra. The cobra became short of breath under Vishnu s weight, which seemed
to increase with his enrapturement in the dance. The great cobra began to gasp for
air. At the end of the dance, Adesisa immediately felt release from the heavy pressure
of Vishnu s body. Adesisa asked Vishnu, How could it be
America Does Not Need Gun Control Essay
Gun control is often considered as an effective means of protecting ordinary
citizens. We all want to feel safe, and it s easy to ascribe notions of safety to the
idea of gun control. Unfortunately, feeling safe and actually being safe can be very
different things. Gun control sounds wonderful in theory: no guns means no
shootings. If only it were that simple. When one considers some of the worst
shootings and gun related crimes in recent history, it s peculiar to realize how often
these occurred in places where guns were illegal to carry or even own. It s
downright disturbing to realize that, in some cases, the only armed person in sight
was the one planning a crime. A sign that says no guns might as well say no
resistance .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recent decision in McDonald v. Chicago says that the Due Process Clause of
the Fourteenth Amendment incorporates the Second Amendment right recognized
in Heller. (slip op., 44) The result of this decision is that Chicago residents are
recognized as fully within their rights to keep guns for home defense, and laws
that are essentially a ban in their effect are actually unconstitutional. Maybe you re
thinking that, if anyone was in a situation that would necessitate a gun, surely it is
a matter for the police? While the police do serve a useful function and are
essential in the due process of law, they are not wholly effective at crime
prevention. In fact, according to the Supreme Court, nothing in the language of
the Due Process Clause itself requires the State to protect the life, liberty, and
property of its citizens against invasion by private actors. (DeShaney v. Winnebago
Cty. Soc. Servs. Dept. 195). Is protection a goal of the police force? Probably.
Nonetheless, it is not a requirement; there is still an expectation for citizens to be
responsible for their own defense. That being the case, it seems almost farcical to
prevent a populace from defending itself by limiting its access to defensive tools. To
suggest guns as a means of self defense is sometimes criticized as playing unfairly on
emotions, and indeed for many there may never come a time that they would imagine
using one. But then, it is largely because of
The Battle Of Normandy s Operation Overlord
June 6, 1944, marked the beginning of Operation Overlord, with capturing the coast
of Normandy being the allies objective. Shortly after midnight, the allied began their
invasion by parachuting thousands of paratroopers into Normandy to bring the battle
behind the German coastal defenses. At around the same time, minesweepers began
clearing channels for the invading fleet, which consisted of over 5,000 ships. The
Germans, by contrast, had around 100 total ships in the area at the time, which
heavily outnumber them. Similarly, the German air force also faced the same
situation in the air as the Nazis could only mobilize roughly about 850 aircraft in
comparison to 11,000 allied planes. The allied began commencing naval
bombardment on the beaches
Concrete Curb Research Paper
Although concrete curbs provide a finished, attractive look to streets, driveways
and parking lots, they also offer a variety of useful functions. They can prevent
vegetation from encroaching upon the pavement, discourage parking or driving
on lawns and sidewalks, channel runoff efficiently to storm drains and delineate
property boundaries. All About Concrete Curbs Concrete curbs can be constructed
in various shapes and sizes to help achieve specific goals. For example, pedestrians
are less likely to trip over a curb with square edges, while a high, vertical faced curb
is a strong deterrent to vehicles. Curb heights are normally determined by the
functionality desired, but appearance can also be an important factor. The same is
true for the width of the curb. In most parts of the United States, curb heights
typically range from 4 inches to 8 inches; curb widths usually range from 6 inches to
8 inches. Curbs designed to channel runoff typically border a gutter. Gutters can be
built at the intersection between the curb and the roadway, cast at the same time as
the curb or constructed as a pavement component. Curbs can present a formidable
barrier to people with mobility issues. Curb ramps at intersections or between your
business and your parking lot can help the handicapped navigate... Show more content

Cars may be driven over them accidentally or intentionally. Tree roots may uplift a
section of curbing. Heavy trucks may scrape against the curb or inadvertently back
over it. However, regardless of how the damage occurs, repairs are typically
economical and quick. If a section becomes damaged beyond repair, it is usually a
simple matter to replace just the damaged section. If you are having concrete curbs
installed or replaced, be sure to turn sprinklers off for between 48 and 72 hours after
the concrete is installed. If concrete gets wet before it is sufficiently cured,
discoloration or blotchiness may
Health Inequity And Disparity
According to Knight (2014), health inequity and disparity is related to social
injustice; hence, public health needs to engage in the political process and advocate
for conditions that foster health such as housing and education, and to eliminate
poverty. When my children were in high school, the school they went to was 60%
minority and 30% white. Other schools in the same schooldistrict had racial
proportions opposite to our schools (60% white and 30% minority). These schools
were better funded, thus received greater resources for higher test scores according
to the requirements of the No Child Left Behind law (NCLB) (Great School Staff,
2016). Conversely, our school s scores failed to meet test score requirements and

Pros And Cons Of Banning Football
Banning football is like the Prohibition. Just like with the Prohibition, there is
much danger and controversy surrounding football. People that think football
should be banned make a good case for the ban because of long term illnesses such
as CTE or ALS which could physically disable a person for life. On the other hand,
football teaches life skills such as teamwork or trust. 0 Even though football is not
the safest sport, that does not mean it is too dangerous to ever play again. Even
though football is not the safest sport, that does not mean it is too dangerous to
ever play again. The game of football is an intense sport { even if you re a kicker ]
but I do not think it should be banned . Banning football is like Prohibition , you
will upset a lot of people and some will go crazy . There are plenty of sports that
don t get banned like baseball . In baseball you could get hit with a pitch , get a bat
flung at you , and get in a bench clearing brawl but no one makes a case about that .
Football is a game I love to watch and play . People that do think football should be

physically disable you . The reason you shouldn t ban football is that the game can
teach young men { or women } life skills such as teamwork or trust and I believe
every young man should play some form of football whether it s touch football ,
tackle football , or just throwing a ball around with your friends . Though some
people can t play football because there parents won t let them or have a health

you re not stressed playing in one . The NFL has made many rule changes

How Did Juan Ponce De Leon Colonize Hispaniola
Juan Ponce de Leon was conceived in 1460 and kicked the bucket in 1521. In 1502
Ponce de Leon was in the West Independents filling in as a Chief under Nicolas de
Ovando who was legislative head of Hispaniola. In 1508 Juan Ponce de Leon went
with Columbus and attempted to colonize Hispaniola and was conceded
authorization to investigate the island. As a reward for stifling an Indian rebellion,
he was named to be the commonplace legislative head of the eastern piece of
Hispaniola by Ovando. In the wake of hearing relentless reports of gold to be found
on Puerto Rico, Ponce de Leon investigated and settled that island, establishing the
province s most established settlement, Capara, close what is currently San Juan.

Dr. Phil Pringle Analysis
In a time when leaders are portrayed as power hungry, Christian leadership is
imperative for the Church to be an influential agent within the world. Dr. Phil
Pringle outlines ten qualities that a Christian leader should possess if he aims to
be a great leader. Within the context of the ten qualities, Pringle presents a portrait
of a leader that is integral to the Church s success. Therefore, Dr. Phil Pringle
begins by examining the leader s motivation. Pringle concludes that Christian
leaders are called to serve God and others. Further, a Christian leader is to live a life
of self abasement, a life of sacrifice. Pringle (2007) argues, When we move from a

Pringle illustrates the power that temptation has in a person s life. He equates it to
how a moth is drawn to the flame. Although the flame will eventually kill the moth,
the moth has an uncontrolled desire to the light of the flame. Similarly, individuals
are drawn to the very thing that seeks to destroy them. Pringle (2007) advises,
Unless we make strong choices to live above the temptations, they will destroy us (p.
179). In other words, unlike the moth, a Christian leader has the ability, through
Christ, to live above the carnal desires that seek to crush
Coral Reef Bahamas
The coral reef of the Bahamas is home to a large variety of different organisms
including sponges, fish, anemones, sea stars, and crustaceans. They all use the
reef as a form of resource for food, protection from predators, or a place to live
(Harborne et al. 2006). However, coral reefs all around the world are in danger of
depletion and destruction more now than ever (Richardson 1998). Damage to the
coral reefis caused by a number of factors such as increasing temperatures or
reduction of sea pH (van Hooidonk et al. 2013). These factors lead to an increase in
diseases (Kuta and Richardson 2002; Zvuloni et al. 2009; Patterson et al. 2002; Gil

Ryan Funeral Home Case Study
RYAN FUNERAL HOME CASE
INTRODUCTION
On a warm Chicago evening in August 2005, Regina Ryan leaned back in an
overstuffed armchair in her brightly lit apartment above Ryan Funeral Home.
Seventy five years old and a widow, Regina smiled as she looked at the sons and
daughters gathered before her: Maureen, Patrick, Sean, Brendan, Conner, and
Siobhan.
Finally she spoke: Your father was proud to own his own funeralhome. He built this
from nothing to what it is today. By serving local families so well, the name Ryan

area. Reputation is everything in the funeral business.

Until the 1970 s, funeral directors used what was called all inclusive pricing, which
meant that families paid one price for most elements of the funeral. The elements
included: the casket, removal of the deceased from the place of death, embalming,
dressing, application of cosmetics and place in the casket, arrangement conference
with funeral director, two nights of visitation (also known as the wake) at the funeral
home, directing the funeral, and the use of automotive fleet (including hearse and
limousine) to transport family and the deceased to the church and/or the cemetery,
and the register book, memorial folders, and acknowledgement cards. The elements
of the funeral that were excluded from this all inclusive price were the grave,
flowers, the opening and closing of the grave, the burial vault, the honorarium for the
clergyman, and the grave maker.
There have been tremendous changes over the past few decades as a result of
FTC mandated changes in funeral service pricing, changes in consumer
preferences, and consolidation of funeral service providers. Beginning in 1984, the
FTC required funeral homes to provide consumers with a general price list (See
exhibit #1) which breaks down the prices of each element of the funeral. For
example, instead of charging one price of say $9,000 for all the merchandise and
services listed above, the funeral home must break the charge down into elements,
such as $3,450 for the casket, $540
Opportunity Reed Reflection
I look forward to the opportunity Reed offers, to share something of value with the
community during Paideia. The Greek word not only means education, as the prompt
indicates; it also connotes the development of the ideal citizen, requiring discipline
and emotional health as well as content learning. The experience I have had that
comes closest to this is the work of being in the present moment. Often called
mindfulness, it s a tool for opening oneself up to a deep educationof the mind, body
and spirit; along with significant connections to the intellectual pursuits of
neuroscience and psychology.
I believe the mindfulness movement sprung from monastic requirements, rather than
from academic psychology or practical medicine, even though ... Show more content

While I feel insufficiently trained to teach official MBSR, I would be glad to share
not only what I have learned about it, my passion and curiosity, but also how it can
help others.
I see this class as especially pertinent to Reed because of its honor code. The
principle of honor requires that people have both integrity and mutual respect. One
must be able to calmly and clearly evaluate a course of action and a fair minded
attitude towards it. For these goals there may be no better prescription than calm
abiding in the present moment.
Cultivating more skillful ways of responding to stress and distress is one of my
goals, and another is to share something I have found so beneficial for my mental
health and general well being. The learning, and its practice involve group activities
and connection at their core, key aspects of a comprehensive college education. Think
of all the things college freshmen go through: leaving home for the first time,
interacting with different and new people in a community, test anxiety, regulating
sleep/eating in a new environment. Learning what is most healthy and good could all

Pride and Prejudice: Character Foil
In order for a novel or other literary work to become popular for its time and for an
author s audience to stay engaged and interested in the plot, there must include some
sort of conflict or some sort of contrast that creates that conflict. This conflict attracts
the reader to the novel, wanting to read more. This juxtaposition is achieved through
a foil. Foil characters are characters that directly contrast the traits or qualities of
another character. Foil characters usually are the main character, the protagonist
shows traits that are opposite and emphasize the plot of the story, or even another

Though her manner varied, however, her determination never did (Austen 77). This
phrase shows the characterization of the scene. Mrs. Bennet s faith and
determination in her beliefs show the true the meaning of marriage in her eyes.
Elizabeth shows the traits of a true, independent character because she could have,
like her friend Charlotte Lucas, buckled under the pressure that outside forces were
putting on her, but she believed in herself and how she was feeling, instead of others
influence on her decisions. Once again, Mr. Collins character indirectly brings out the
strengths in Elizabeth Bennet personality. This serves Austen s purpose because
Elizabeth goes against the social norms of the Regency Era and the opposite of what
a woman was expected to be liked. Although Jane Austenstill creates Elizabeth to be
a very likable character, Austen exemplifies the traits of herself through Elizabeth s
Branches Of Government And What They Do
3 Branches Research Paper
In this paper I m going to explain to you the branches of government and what they
do and how they function.
To begin, The Separation of powers plays a role in the branches of government in
which it helps it run smoothly, no one gets too much of power, and everyone is
responsible for their job. Now I ll start with the legislative branch. The legislative
branch is the branch of government that has the power to make the laws, it is also
made up of two houses, the Senate, which are made of a hundred people, two from
each state, and they also they to be at least thirty years old, and House of
Representatives. The senate must also be a citizen for six years, a citizen for nine,
and they have to live in the state her or she represents. The laws they make are
written and voted for in congress. They also set apart the funds from the
government. The House of representatives is another huge role, they are made up
of four hundred and thirty five member and at least one of those are from each
state. They are also elected by the people. They have to be at least twenty five
years old, be a citizen for seven years, and they serve a two year term. Now I ll
explain they wat the legislative branch checks other branches. The way the legislative
branch checks other branches is if they receive enough votes, the legislative branch
can overrule the executive branches veto, and that bill will become a law. After that
law is set, the people will test it through the court

John Hughes movies they are based on teenagers and these films impress many. The
Breakfast Club is a comedydrama film, which is remembered to be one of the best
movies of all time and I agree. The acting, theme hidden within the movie, and plot

Don Giovanni Opera in Modern Times Essay
Don Giovanni Opera in Modern Times
Music has the capability to bring forth many emotions and feelings in a person.
Depending on the tone and the melody of the music, emotions such as anger, joy,
and grief may arise. For example, rap music, in general, brings forth emotions such
as anger, frustration, and rage to a person s mind. Melodies such as Celine Dion s My
Heart Will Go On and Aerosmith s I Don t Want To Miss A Thing often arouse
emotions of love, sadness, and hope; lovey dovey feelings which remind a person of
a past or current love. In Mozart s Opera Don Giovanni, many emotions and feelings,
such as hatred, distress, and sorrow are portrayed and felt through the characters.

Although her words are brash and unkind (regardless of how just she is in her
accusations), the music carries a distinctive rhythm that provokes the feeling of
sorrow and pain; thus one finds oneself feeling sympathy for Elvira.
The character of Elvira makes a clear distinction between her sorrow, and her anger.
In Act I when Elvira is first introduced as a character, she sings of wanting to kill
Don Giovanni because he had lied to her. Falsely promising her his hand in marriage,
this only leads to heartache and distress for Elvira because she truly believed that he
loved her. Leporello described it, in the Peter Sellars updated version of Don
Giovanni, as a bad soap opera . Elvira expresses her pain and suffering in these few
lines:
Ah, who can tell me where that wretch has gone? I loved him, to my shame, and he
broke his faith to me. If I find him again, and he tries to escape, I ll make a horrible
scandal; I ll tear his heart from his breast! (Act I, 143).
During this scene, Elvira vows to kill Don Giovanni for causing her this grief. She
states that the scoundrel (Don Giovanni) has deceived and betrayed (Act I, 145)
her! She was powerless to his love and gained nothing in return except pain and
anguish. One can hear the mixed tone of Elvira s voice; it is strong and full of fury,
yet weak and almost tearful.
To accompany her words, Mozart has added a unique blend of classical

Murders and crime in the past decades left a negative impact throughout the city of
New York. However, these such crimes were particularly bad in the borough of
Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn, New York during the summers caused many kids
and adults to hang out on their stoops and enjoy being refreshed by an open fire

Colleges don t have enough money to pay all athletes. To pay every athlete you
would have to pay all of the players and to pay all of the players you would have to

Yeah, it was a mom and three kids. They were hiding from her husband. He was a

There wasn t much to do inside the barn, so we went down to the pond. Her pond
consisted of mostly frogs.
I have an idea. Wait here, Reagan said before she ran back to her house.
She came back from the house with a plastic bowl with a lid. Let s catch some frogs.
Reagan did most of the catching. The frogs were tiny and and slippery. Most of the
frogs I caught jumped out of my hand. We tried catching the big frogs, but they

We spent a lot of the time climbing trees, we wanted to see who could get the

Animal Rights in Germany vs. Switzerland
For the second and final country journal assignment of the semester, I elected to
compare and contrast the statutes regarding animal rights in Germany and
Switzerland. While conducting my research, I came to the realization as a whole,
both Germany and Switzerland often rank in the top 5 countries worldwide when it
comes to discussions and statistics on environmental policies and animal rightsand are
considered progressive in these areas. However, though both are considered
progressive countries, the methods used to enforce animal regulations, as well as the
history behind the current statues, are quite different. Animal rights activists have
played a major role in changing how animals are viewed and treating in many
countries,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Activist across the country call for the preservation of the dignity of animals on the
basis that animals are sentient living beings, much like humans. While there is no
origin for the nationwide support of animal rights, much of the country is in favor of
the amendments and animal protection acts that have been established throughout
Switzerland. In a 2010 poll, 70% of the population was in favor of the government
hiring numerous lawyers to go to defend the rights of animals. According to
researchers, the movement for animal rights in Germany found its justification in a
different area; xenophobia. Within Nazi Germany there was a definite emphasis on
labeling Jewish shechita as wrong and associating vivisection with their culture
(Evans 1). This association was widely accepted by the anti Semitic Nazi supporters.
Similarly, in 2002, public uproar occurred after the Supreme Court granted a
practicing Muslim the permission to perform a ritual slaughter involving unnecessary
cruelty . Animal activist used the public outcry to increase awareness of the
constitutional amendment for animal rights and claimed that the animals had been
denied basic constitutional rights. This event led to public support for an amendment
that stated that both the environment, and animals, are to be afforded protection by
the German government and places them on the same level as Basic Human Rights.

CLOUD COMPUTING SECURITY TERM PAPER TWO
Living with Increasing Attacks on Cloud Computing Platforms
Cloud Computing is an on demand, flexible and cost friendly delivery platform that
has provided IT consumers and organizations services such as networks, storage,
servers and applications over the Internet. Its importance is increasing as a large
number of industrial and technological communities are rapidly adopting it.
The benefits such as low cost and convenience of cloud computing services have
significantly changed our day to days activities, however, there are numerous security

Flooding attacks are also performed by hackers where they send numerous bogus
offers and request for help to a target machine rendering services blocked from
users trying to access them. The two types of attacks that would result from
flooding attack in cloud include direct DoS and indirect DoS. When a cloud server
receives a large volume of flooded requests, it will provide more computational
resources to cope with the malicious requests. The server then exhausts its full
capability and a direct DoS is occurred to all requests from users. However, the flood
attack could possibly cause indirect DoS to other servers in the same cloud when
the servers share the workload of the targeted server, which results a full lack of
availability on all of the services.
Cloud Security Attacks
Web based applications enable users to access application servers via web pages of
web browsers. Wrapping attacks and malware injection attack is one of the various
web based attacks where an attacker exploits the vulnerabilities in a web application
and attach malicious codes into it resulting to a variation in its proper execution.
Cloud computing systems are also susceptible to malware injection attacks. The
attacker develops a malicious program or application and inject them into target
cloud service model such as SaaS, PaaS or IaaS. Once the injection is successful, the
malicious module is executed as one of the valid instances running in the cloud; then,
the hacker can do
The Tragical History Of Doctor Faustus
In Marlowe s play, The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, Christianity is painted in a
negative light. This reflects the disillusionment with religion that Marlowe and other
Renaissance men had as a consequence of the conflict between Catholicism and
Protestantism that occurred during the Protestant Reformation. Through Faustus s
lines, Marlowe was able to air some of his less than pleasant views about Christianity.
Even in the first act, Faustus s opinion of religion is made clear. Philosophy is
odious and obscure; both law and physic are for petty wits; divinity is the basest of
the three, unpleasant, harsh, contemptible and vile. Faustus is more than just
disillusioned with religion; he is disgusted by it. It s understandable how he... Show

Faustus sees God as cruel and without mercy. Through this, one can conclude that
Marlowe may have held similar views. Marlowe s low opinion of Christianity
comes through in ways other than Faustus s words; it also shows in the events of
the play. Act three scene one is entirely devoted to making fun of the Catholic
church. In this scene, Faustus and Mephistopheles wreak havoc on a banquet held
by the pope, who seems to care more about his dinner than he does his divine
duties. Indeed, almost every line spoken by the supposedly holy man is about
food. He, and by extension organized religion as a whole, is painted as greedy and
gluttonous: two deadly sins. This makes Marlowe s opinion of the catholic church
quite clear. As the scene goes on, a group of priests begins a holy dirge in attempt
to oust the pesky spirits disturbing the banquet. Cursed be he that stole away his
Holiness meat from the table... cursed be he that took away his holiness wine. This
ritual, as opposed to being solemn and holy, seems petty and secular. Furthermore, it
reinforces the pope s gluttony. After the dirge is completed, Faustus and
Mephistopheles chase the priests offstage, beating them and throwing fireworks. The
prayers of these holy men are shown to be utterly ineffectual, and the friars
themselves are made out to be clowns on the receiving end of slapstick comedy.
From this, it is possible to draw the
Philip Larkin s Church Going
Larkin s Church Going : A Failed Exploration for Religious Faith
Murdoch s artistic and natural beauty critique, called The Sovereignty of Good and
Other
Concepts, quotes Plato s belief that beauty is the only spiritual thing we love by
instinct.
Therefore, beauty is the only spiritual connection Atheist Philip Larkin seeks in a
church.
Larkin s poem Church Going, begins as a confessional since he mentions how he
often stops at random churches, perhaps because he is searching for a place of
worship that is beautiful, both naturally and artistically. In other words, in the nature
of the church he is looking for a warm group of people, rather than an uptight group.
As for artistic beauty, Larkin is searching for

Larkin imagines when the time will come that religion dies completely, and those
churches that are not kept to par for tourism will be abandoned until weathering
dissolves the physical remains of religion. Once Larkin noticed the failure in natural
beauty, his train of thought is catalyzed by the failure of the church to provide
artistic beauty. For art to pass as beautiful, it must be good art, which Murdoch says,
reveals what we are usually too selfish and too timid to recognize. By finding
beautiful, religious scriptures that are blunt about the ambiguity of life and death,
rather than romanticized, Larkin will find a trustworthy place of worship and at last,
a spiritual connection. Beauty does not depend on whether the art is positive or
negative, but on the honesty of the statement. The lines, Yet stop I did: in fact I often

Letter of Appeal Essay
I am studying to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. I am writing to appeal for my
financial aid. I feel a letter was proper because of certain circumstances that occurred
during my life that contributed to me withdrawing from Psychology, College prep

in several courses which were Psychology, College prep writing and College prep

Throughout the course of the LPN I ve came across several trial and tribulations
where there were several occasions I had to come to class with my daughter
because I could not find someone to watch my daughter, which was the reason
why I failed the PRN0374 course. There were days that I had to miss class because
I could not find a babysitter and there were times where my babysitter would cancel
on me last minute. Many of the times I took chances bringing my daughter to school
with me and having to hide her in the back of the classroom just so the professor
wouldn t send me home because she was with me.
Now that I ve found a reliable sitter for my daughter I am doing a lot better in my
PRN class and I m looking forward to going to clinicals and graduating with my
classmates. I ve come very far with different obstacles that I was faced with but I
am determined and motivated to finish Miami Dade College and become a nurse
to give my daughter the future she deserves. I refuse to let anything come in
between me reaching my goals and finishing school. I ve learned now before I
withdraw from anything in life to look at other options in order to handle the
situation better. Education is extremely important to me and I am a student who is
very serious about my future and the upcoming semester will prove so. Regardless
of my previous poor work ethic, I am a mature person and if given a chance, I will

Difference Between Internal And External Crowdsourcing
According to several scholars (including Villarroel and Reis, 2010; Boudreau and
Lakhani, 2013; Carlson and Wilmot, 2006; Chesbrough, 2006a, 2006b; Byren, 2013;
Yap, 2012; Howe, 2006, 2009; Brabham, 2008b, 2009, 2013), the main difference
between internal and external crowdsourcing can be summarized as follows: i) the
internal crowd(employees) is known to the firm; ii) the crowd can be all employees
of the firm, a subsidiary of the firm, or may also include partners and suppliers; iii)
the crowd is specifically used for problem solving or aggregating ideas for innovation
purposes; and iv) the crowd may also be anyone with internet or mobile remote
access capable of participating in a crowdsourcingcontest and vote on the ideas of
others.
Internal crowdsourcing is easier to implement in companies where social media
acceptance is high (Yap, 2012); crowdsourcing attempts within companies don t
measure up to the external crowd (Boudreau and Lakhani, 2013). Crowdsourcing
forms such as idea marketplaces and idea jams lack the capabilities and fall short
to the external crowd s full capacity. Boudreau and Lakhani (2013) believes
employees are discouraged from seeking challenges; Yap (2012) says that internal
crowdsourcing unveil innovations from employees which otherwise would not be
captured. Carlson and Wilmot (2006) emphasizes that every employee does in fact
has the ability to innovate, and must do so for their company to stay competitive.

Summary of Film Jaws
This essay that I am doing is about a film called Jaws, which was directed by
Steven Spielberg. This film is about a killer shark that terrorised people on the
Beach of Amity Island on the most popular day of the year, which causes mayhem in
the city and between tourists on their summer holiday on the beach. The film is set on
the 4th of July because that is Independence Day in America and that s when families
go out to the beach and have some fun.
Spielberg employs a range of techniques for building tension and fear in the film,
some of these that will be discussed in the essay include: music, camera techniques
and the shark it self and use of tension.

A couple of minutes after he gets in the water the shark attack the boy leaving

the beach next to his wife looking at the sea with the knowledge that he is putting
people s lives in danger. The camera concentrated on Brody s nervous face by using
close up shot s of his face as well as using mid angle shot to show how his arms are

The director builds up fear of the shark through out the film by showing the audience
how much damage it can do or through characters reaction.
The first thing that reveals how much damage the shark can do is when the shark

A lot of movements have taken place in Africa; however, the two most dramatic

According to Diamond, the Indonesian Colonization of Madagascar is the single
most astonishing fact of human geography for the entire world (Parker, and

east coast of Africa; however, the population movement is odd because the inhabitants

The Bantu not only raised livestock but they were also farmers. Growing anything
from cereal to root crops, the Bantu needed to migrate because they required more
land for their livestock and food production. At the beginning, the Bantu did not pose
a threat to settlers already established because they did not take up very much land.
However, over time their population began to grow and so did their need for more
land; this caused a great deal of conflict. In order for them to continue to grow, the
Bantu pushed south towards the Congo rainforest. With precipitation levels
exceptionally high, the Bantu struggled with their crops. In order for them to
maintain their agriculture way of life, the Bantu pushed further south towards the
southern savanna. The drier lands provided a much more stable environment for the
farmers. In the East African savannas and uplands, the Bantu agriculturists
encountered Cushitic and Nilo Saharan peoples who farmed grains and raised cattle.
During this time the Bantu learned the technology of iron smelting (Page, and Hunt).
By learning the technology of iron smelting, the Bantu were able to create high
quality tools they could use on their farms. Not only were the Bantu known for their
expansive migration but also the numerous languages that originated from theirs: the
Bantu language expanded to an estimated 535 different languages
Michelangelo Sistine Chapel Ceiling
The Sistine Chapel ceiling is one of my favorite paintings by Michelangelo. It took
him four years to complete it. What I love about it is that he took the Bible stories
and painted them onto the ceiling. Each paint has its own story, and that can speak
louder than works at times. As it tells a story, it also tells us a little bit of what his
beliefs are.
The Bible starts by telling us about Adam and Eve. How Eve took the fruit from the
snake and gave it to Adam and then they were ban from the Garden. You will notice
a part of the ceiling has that story painted. He has a man and a woman near the tree
of knowledge. She has her hand out to take it from the snake/man. Just one the other
side of the tree it shows them being drove away by an

Theme Of Love In A Farewell To Arms
In A Farewell to Arms, Lieutenant Frederic Henry retells his gruesome encounters of
World War I as a medic serving for the Italian army. In an unprecedented encounter,
Henry met Miss.Barkley during a trip to the nurse stations. The two young lovers
quickly developed a romantic relationship which revolved around their strength,
dedication, and perseverance in times of struggle and discord. The novel provides an
understanding of how the strength of lovetriumphs over arduous matters, and
provides solace in times of distress. Joel Armstrong reinforced his idea of the main

Lastly, during Henry and Barkley s relationship, the two lovers expressed their
devotion for each other in words rather than actions. For example, whenever they
met, Barkley would always question if Henry truly loved her. In many scenes,
Barkley would always ask the same question: You do love me? You really love me?
(Hemingway, 92). In reply, Henry would answer: I really love you. I m crazy about
you. (Hemingway, 92). This displays their ability to address the doubts in their
relationship with each other.
The constant attachment between the two lovers demonstrates a love that is like a
beacon of light allowing the characters to see meaning in their experiences and
look forward to a viable future (Armstrong, 80). Both parties in the relationship
showed that they preferred each other s company more than anything else. In fact,
nearly every minute of free time they had was spent in the arms of one another.
Henry said he, found it more pleasurable than going every evening to the house for
officers where the girls climbed all over you and put your cap on backwards as a
sign of affection... (Hemingway 30) Throughout the novel it it became apparent that
Henry s thought were always on Miss. Barkley in even the most distressing and
dismal times. An example of this, was when Henry was contemplating the dangers of
war and in order to escape reality, Henry immediately thought about Catherine
Barkley as he

Through the gathering of evidence and classroom observations, these mentor teachers provide the passion for new teachers and help to unlock their potential. After that, my parents started to laugh and told us that probably not because they were good with only two kids. Me and my brother were disappointed and decided to convince our parents no matter what. After a while, my parents got tire of hearing us complain about getting a baby brother and they told us that we were not getting one. Then, the next month my motherstarted getting a little fat. My Mom told me that she had to go to the hospital because she was sick. A few months went by and my Mom was getting fatter every month. I started to worry about my mom, so I started asking her if she was going to get better. After I asked her, she told me to go get my older brother because she had to tell us something really important. When I got him and came back with my Mom, I got really scared because I thought she was going to tell us that she was really sick. A few moments later she told us Listen, remember when you asked me if you guys could have a baby brother, well, we you re not going to get one but two twin brothers! The Culture Of China Has Deeply Ingrained The culture of China has deeply engrained commitment to learning its citizenry by placing high meaning on book learning and formal education than other civilizations. Education in china was placed as a path to government career since they were determined to bureaucratic appointment, a path to prestige and authority by eligible men of humble birth to rise to the top. This is unlike the US because leaders wished to develop well rounded citizens but there were others who advocated for more practical goals of learning modern science and technology to reform the country in countering western imperialism (Mohrman, Geng, Wang, 2011). Attaining the status of a Professorone must sustain a distinguished track record of scholarly achievement within one universityand academic discipline to be promoted from an associate professor. The position of professor is usually tenured but not for private and church affiliated institutions (BISO, 2010). The status of a professor is the highest of the standard academic ranks with advancement past the rank of professor involves administrative duties. There is no mandatory retirement age in this occupation and full professor in the US is around 55 years with only few people attains the position before attaining that age. Full professor earn on average 70% more than the associate professor in the same institution but those in private institutions earn less (Kim, 2012). • 9. The Fifth And Final Leadership Challenge Leadership Challenge Five Summary The fifth and final leadership challenge is an inspirational message to readers who learn how to Encourage the Heart of their followers. Kouzes Posner (2012) explain that, to further develop a highly effective team, leaders must recognize contributions by showing appreciation for individual excellence, and celebrate the values and victories by creating a spirit of community (p. 272). The importance of a highly motivated team who feels appreciated should not be understated, and is an integral aspect of organizational leadership. Kouzes Posner explain that to keep hope and determination alive, leaders recognize contributions that individuals make. In every winning team, the members need to share in the rewards of their efforts, so leaders celebrate accomplishments. They make people feel like heroes (Kouzes Posner, 2016, about sec). Recognizing the contributions of others requires leaders to expect the best from their team. When leaders set the tone of high expectations the organization takes on an efficacious culture where excellence is the established norm. A self fulfilling prophecy of high expectations envelopes the group as a whole. Kouzes Posner write that Exemplary Leaders elicit high performance because they strongly believe in the abilities of their constituents to achieve even the most challenging goals (p. 276). Belief in the efficacy of others as a stand alone attribute is only a half measure. Kouzes Posner

It is predominantly composed of the elements carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Many classes of lipids also contain nitrogen and phosphorus. The relative amounts of these elements, as well as their structural positions, determine the degree of solubility of the lipid in various solvents. Lipids with high hydrocarbon content are relatively nonpolar in nature and insoluble in water. The ionic character of a lipid can be altered by changes in solvent pH. For example, if the solvent contains a strong acid or a strong base, hydrolysis of some of the ester bonds will occur. When this happens, the products of hydrolysis may have solubility properties very different from those of the original lipid molecule. Structures of the different Samples and Solvents Sample 1: Vegetable Oil (Oleic acid) Oleic acid has the chemical formula C17H33COOH Due to its large nonpolar portion, oleic acid is insoluble in water and, being less dense than water, it floats on the water surface. The polar COOH end, however, is attracted to water molecules. So, a thin coating of oleic acid on the surface of water results

This number is increasing and the need for child care continues to be more and more demanding. The big question is whether daycare centers, home care faculties, or the stay at home mom the best choice for children? Overall daycare centers are more beneficial to children s social, emotional, and educational development because of the center tighter guidelines. About 57 percent of children are in some type of child care based in a daycare center, while 23 percent were cared for at home by a relative of some sort, and 12 percent are in home care facilities (Davidson 671). Over half of children are in a daycare center, meaning that is the right choice for children when we can provide the right staff, education, social and emotional atmosphere. Every parent wants their child to have the most one on one time with the teacher or daycare provider to help improve the child s education. Within daycare centers, they have requirements on the staff to child ratio and the maximum group size they can maintain. The Child Care Center Licensing guidelines state that for every four infants there must be one staff member and the group maximum capacity is eight children (9). This indicates that there will be at least two staff members with just the infants and more staff for the older age groups. As the children get older and become more independent, the

How Patanjali Is Considered A Divine Messenger Upanishadic wisdom converged on a shared belief in a universal law that guided the abiding presence of religious and metaphysical forces in the lives of individuals and of the collective destiny of all things in the universe. The Upanishadic teachings help us to understand how yoga evolved. Patanjali is historically understood to have been a divine messenger, born some time between 500 BC and 200 BC. The dates are uncertain to this day as the lives of the great sages and mystics were not measured according to modern calendars, but rather, were imbued by the living oral traditions that defined Upanishadic wisdom and knowledge. Some traditions held that Pantanjali was not born of mother and father but was rather the incarnation of the god Adiesea. Adisesa is a great king cobra whose body is the seal of the god Vishnu. The legend continues that the god Shiva, the king of dance, invited Vishnu and other deities to see his famous dance, Tandava Nritya. • 18. America Does Not Need Gun Control Essay Gun control is often considered as an effective means of protecting ordinary citizens. We all want to feel safe, and it s easy to ascribe notions of safety to the idea of gun control. Unfortunately, feeling safe and actually being safe can be very different things. Gun control sounds wonderful in theory: no guns means no shootings. If only it were that simple. When one considers some of the worst shootings and gun related crimes in recent history, it s peculiar to realize how often these occurred in places where guns were illegal to carry or even own. It s downright disturbing to realize that, in some cases, the only armed person in sight was the one planning a crime. A sign that says no guns might as well say no resistance .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The recent decision in McDonald v. Chicago says that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment incorporates the Second Amendment right recognized in Heller. (slip op., 44) The result of this decision is that Chicago residents are recognized as fully within their rights to keep guns for home defense, and laws that are essentially a ban in their effect are actually unconstitutional. Maybe you re thinking that, if anyone was in a situation that would necessitate a gun, surely it is a matter for the police? While the police do serve a useful function and are essential in the due process of law, they are not wholly effective at crime prevention. In fact, according to the Supreme Court, nothing in the language of the Due Process Clause itself requires the State to protect the life, liberty, and property of its citizens against invasion by private actors. (DeShaney v. Winnebago Cty. Soc. Servs. Dept. 195). Is protection a goal of the police force? Probably. Nonetheless, it is not a requirement; there is still an expectation for citizens to be responsible for their own defense. That being the case, it seems almost farcical to prevent a populace from defending itself by limiting its access to defensive tools. To suggest guns as a means of self defense is sometimes criticized as playing unfairly on emotions, and indeed for many there may never come a time that they would imagine using one. But then, it is largely because of

They can prevent vegetation from encroaching upon the pavement, discourage parking or driving on lawns and sidewalks, channel runoff efficiently to storm drains and delineate property boundaries. All About Concrete Curbs Concrete curbs can be constructed in various shapes and sizes to help achieve specific goals. For example, pedestrians are less likely to trip over a curb with square edges, while a high, vertical faced curb is a strong deterrent to vehicles. Curb heights are normally determined by the functionality desired, but appearance can also be an important factor. The same is true for the width of the curb. In most parts of the United States, curb heights typically range from 4 inches to 8 inches; curb widths usually range from 6 inches to 8 inches. Curbs designed to channel runoff typically border a gutter. No matter how much Mrs. Bennet talked to Elizabeth again and again; coaxed and threatened her by turns (Austen 76 77), Elizabeth would not budge: Though her manner varied, however, her determination never did (Austen 77). This phrase shows the characterization of the scene. Mrs. Bennet s faith and determination in her beliefs show the true the meaning of marriage in her eyes. Elizabeth shows the traits of a true, independent character because she could have, like her friend Charlotte Lucas, buckled under the pressure that outside forces were putting on her, but she believed in herself and how she was feeling, instead of others influence on her decisions. Once again, Mr. Collins character indirectly brings out the strengths in Elizabeth Bennet personality. This serves Austen s purpose because Elizabeth goes against the social norms of the Regency Era and the opposite of what a woman was expected to be liked. Although Jane Austenstill creates Elizabeth to be a very likable character, Austen exemplifies the traits of herself through Elizabeth s
  • 30. Branches Of Government And What They Do 3 Branches Research Paper In this paper I m going to explain to you the branches of government and what they do and how they function. To begin, The Separation of powers plays a role in the branches of government in which it helps it run smoothly, no one gets too much of power, and everyone is responsible for their job. Now I ll start with the legislative branch. The legislative branch is the branch of government that has the power to make the laws, it is also made up of two houses, the Senate, which are made of a hundred people, two from each state, and they also they to be at least thirty years old, and House of Representatives. The senate must also be a citizen for six years, a citizen for nine, and they have to live in the state her or she represents. The laws they make are written and voted for in congress. They also set apart the funds from the government. The House of representatives is another huge role, they are made up of four hundred and thirty five member and at least one of those are from each state. They are also elected by the people. They have to be at least twenty five years old, be a citizen for seven years, and they serve a two year term. Now I ll explain they wat the legislative branch checks other branches. The way the legislative branch checks other branches is if they receive enough votes, the legislative branch can overrule the executive branches veto, and that bill will become a law. After that law is set, the people will test it through the court

Depending on the tone and the melody of the music, emotions such as anger, joy, and grief may arise. For example, rap music, in general, brings forth emotions such as anger, frustration, and rage to a person s mind. Melodies such as Celine Dion s My Heart Will Go On and Aerosmith s I Don t Want To Miss A Thing often arouse emotions of love, sadness, and hope; lovey dovey feelings which remind a person of a past or current love. Although her words are brash and unkind (regardless of how just she is in her accusations), the music carries a distinctive rhythm that provokes the feeling of sorrow and pain; thus one finds oneself feeling sympathy for Elvira. The character of Elvira makes a clear distinction between her sorrow, and her anger. In Act I when Elvira is first introduced as a character, she sings of wanting to kill Don Giovanni because he had lied to her. Falsely promising her his hand in marriage, this only leads to heartache and distress for Elvira because she truly believed that he loved her. Leporello described it, in the Peter Sellars updated version of Don Giovanni, as a bad soap opera . Elvira expresses her pain and suffering in these few lines: Ah, who can tell me where that wretch has gone? I loved him, to my shame, and he broke his faith to me. If I find him again, and he tries to escape, I ll make a horrible scandal; I ll tear his heart from his breast! (Act I, 143). During this scene, Elvira vows to kill Don Giovanni for causing her this grief. She states that the scoundrel (Don Giovanni) has deceived and betrayed (Act I, 145) her! She was powerless to his love and gained nothing in return except pain and anguish. One can hear the mixed tone of Elvira s voice; it is strong and full of fury, yet weak and almost tearful. To accompany her words, Mozart has added a unique blend of classical

In this scene, Faustus and Mephistopheles wreak havoc on a banquet held by the pope, who seems to care more about his dinner than he does his divine duties. Indeed, almost every line spoken by the supposedly holy man is about food. He, and by extension organized religion as a whole, is painted as greedy and gluttonous: two deadly sins. Cursed be he that stole away his Holiness meat from the table... cursed be he that took away his holiness wine. This ritual, as opposed to being solemn and holy, seems petty and secular. Furthermore, it reinforces the pope s gluttony. After the dirge is completed, Faustus and Mephistopheles chase the priests offstage, beating them and throwing fireworks. The prayers of these holy men are shown to be utterly ineffectual, and the friars themselves are made out to be clowns on the receiving end of slapstick comedy. From this, it is possible to draw the

Internal crowdsourcing is easier to implement in companies where social media acceptance is high (Yap, 2012); crowdsourcing attempts within companies don t measure up to the external crowd (Boudreau and Lakhani, 2013). Crowdsourcing forms such as idea marketplaces and idea jams lack the capabilities and fall short to the external crowd s full capacity. Boudreau and Lakhani (2013) believes employees are discouraged from seeking challenges; Yap (2012) says that internal crowdsourcing unveil innovations from employees which otherwise would not be captured. Carlson and Wilmot (2006) emphasizes that every employee does in fact has the ability to innovate, and must do so for their company to stay competitive. The desire for deeper exploration of

This film is about a killer shark that terrorised people on the Beach of Amity Island on the most popular day of the year, which causes mayhem in the city and between tourists on their summer holiday on the beach. The film is set on the 4th of July because that is Independence Day in America and that s when families go out to the beach and have some fun. Brody was sitting on the beach next to his wife looking at the sea with the knowledge that he is putting people s lives in danger. The camera concentrated on Brody s nervous face by using close up shot s of his face as well as using mid angle shot to show how his arms are moving from fear. Through out the scene, people came up to him talking about their problems, but Brody was clearly ignoring them and concentrating on the sea, establishing shots where used to show what Brody was looking at and long shots to show what he is specifically looking at. The shark The director builds up fear of the shark through out the film by showing the audience how much damage it can do or through characters reaction. The first thing that reveals how much damage the shark can do is when the shark rips the jetty to pieces as if it was Lego.Brody told the public to try and catch the shark for a reward, Two men decided to go down at night to the jetty and catch the shark using a tyre, metal chain and a chunk of meat. The shark ate the pate and pulled the chain that was attached to the jetty. The true power

Samantha Sharp Professor Georges Nzongola Ntalaja AAAD 101 003 October 2, 2014 Report Name A lot of movements have taken place in Africa; however, the two most dramatic population movements were the Indonesian Colonization of Madagascar and the Bantu Expansion in Central, East and Southern Africa. According to Diamond, the Indonesian Colonization of Madagascar is the single most astonishing fact of human geography for the entire world (Parker, and Rathbone. Powerpoint notes). Madagascar is a relatively large island right off the east coast of Africa; however, the population movement is odd because the inhabitants share the same genes as the people in Indonesia. Growing anything from cereal to root crops, the Bantu needed to migrate because they required more land for their livestock and food production. At the beginning, the Bantu did not pose a threat to settlers already established because they did not take up very much land. However, over time their population began to grow and so did their need for more land; this caused a great deal of conflict. In order for them to continue to grow, the Bantu pushed south towards the Congo rainforest. With precipitation levels exceptionally high, the Bantu struggled with their crops. In order for them to maintain their agriculture way of life, the Bantu pushed further south towards the southern savanna. The drier lands provided a much more stable environment for the farmers. In the East African savannas and uplands, the Bantu agriculturists encountered Cushitic and Nilo Saharan peoples who farmed grains and raised cattle. During this time the Bantu learned the technology of iron smelting (Page, and Hunt). By learning the technology of iron smelting, the Bantu were able to create high quality tools they could use on their farms. Not only were the Bantu known for their expansive migration but also the numerous languages that originated from theirs: the Bantu language expanded to an estimated 535 different languages

What I love about it is that he took the Bible stories and painted them onto the ceiling. Each paint has its own story, and that can speak louder than works at times. As it tells a story, it also tells us a little bit of what his beliefs are. The Bible starts by telling us about Adam and Eve. How Eve took the fruit from the snake and gave it to Adam and then they were ban from the Garden. You will notice a part of the ceiling has that story painted. He has a man and a woman near the tree of knowledge. She has her hand out to take it from the snake/man. Just one the other side of the tree it shows them being drove away by an

For example, whenever they met, Barkley would always question if Henry truly loved her. In many scenes, Barkley would always ask the same question: You do love me? You really love me? (Hemingway, 92). In reply, Henry would answer: I really love you. I m crazy about you. (Hemingway, 92). This displays their ability to address the doubts in their relationship with each other. The constant attachment between the two lovers demonstrates a love that is like a beacon of light allowing the characters to see meaning in their experiences and look forward to a viable future (Armstrong, 80). Both parties in the relationship showed that they preferred each other s company more than anything else. In fact, nearly every minute of free time they had was spent in the arms of one another.
