If I Won The Lottery Essay
Crafting an essay on the hypothetical scenario of winning the lottery may initially seem like a
straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of such a topic presents a unique set of
challenges. The difficulty lies not only in envisioning the life-changing circumstances but also in
articulating the myriad thoughts and emotions that would accompany such an event.
Firstly, navigating the balance between fantasy and realism is crucial. While the premise is
imaginary, the essay should maintain a level of coherence and believability to engage the reader.
Striking this delicate equilibrium requires a thoughtful exploration of the potential impacts on
one's life, relationships, and personal growth.
Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and superficial narratives commonly
associated with lottery-winning scenarios. The temptation to focus solely on extravagant
purchases and lavish lifestyles may overshadow more profound aspects, such as the impact on
personal values, sense of purpose, and overall well-being.
Furthermore, addressing the societal implications of sudden wealth can be complex. Analyzing
how newfound affluence might affect relationships, social dynamics, and one's sense of
responsibility requires a nuanced approach. This involves delving into the potential pitfalls and
responsibilities that come with substantial financial windfalls, adding depth and complexity to
the essay.
Additionally, crafting a captivating narrative that goes beyond materialistic pursuits is crucial.
Exploring personal growth, philanthropy, and the pursuit of meaningful endeavors can elevate
the essay, demonstrating a more profound understanding of the potential consequences and
opportunities that arise with a lottery win.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of winning the lottery demands careful consideration
of both the immediate and long-term consequences. Striking the right balance between
imagination and realism, avoiding clichГ©s, and exploring the broader societal and personal
implications all contribute to the complexity of the task.

Gaius Octavianus As The Ruler Of The Great Roman
Empire
Introduction
Gaius Julius Octavianus assumed the throne as the ruler of the great Roman Empire
in 30 B.C. During his reign as emperor which ran for about four and a half decades,
Gaius institutionalized Rome with ideologies and notions that were centered on the
combined traditions of Republican Rome and the realities of the kingship concept.
Gaius Octavian was conferred with the title of Augustus in 27 B.C by the senate. The
honorific title of Augustus was a reflection of connotations stateliness and dignity.
Prior to the conferment of the title, an official imperial portrait that embodied the
qualities wished to be projected by Octavian the Emperor Augustus was created.
Several hundreds of this portrait were imprinted on gemstones, coins, monumental
reliefs and statues and were disseminated to region of the empire during and after
Gaius reign. The above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prototypical portrait type was copied by court sculptors. The copies were dispersed
throughout the Roman Empire in a bid that further copies could be made and
installed in public places. Via the imprints of the statue on coins, and busts, the
empire was consistently reminded of the Emperor s authority and power.
Aristocratic portraits of the late Roman Republic were always conceived as being
veristic, which implies that they documented wrinkles, baldness and the facial
impetrations of the personality they were modeled after. Gaius Octavian looked to
a new ideology of Roman art and chose a more idealized, classicizing portrait which
would capture his individual features and portray him as a never aging, and
powerful ruler. In Gaius own opinion it would not be uncommon for the Emperor to
be portrayed with the attributes of gods. He believed that after his passing, he
would be deified but a public representation of himself in life would also depict him
as having divine

Cathedral Essay
Cathedral
Sometimes we have to look beyond what we see on the outside to understand
something more deeply. In the short story Cathedral By Raymond Carver, the
narrator has an attitude of being selfish, and jealous through the story. The narrator s
wife invites a blind man, Robert, to come stay in their house for a short time while
the man visits family members of his own wife who recently passed. The narrator is
not enthusiastic because blind people make the narrator uncomfortable, mainly
because the narrator has no real experience with the blind. In addition, to his
uneasiness with the blind the narrator is uncomfortable with the relationship his wife
and the blind man have. The wife and Robert, the blind man, have maintained a close

The narrator assumes that that he is more capable of making his own wife happy than
Robert simply because he can see. When the narrator makes this assumption it shows
that he doesn t know the difference between seeing and understanding something
more deeply for the true meaning.
When Robert first arrives, things are a little awkward. The narrator isn t sure what
to say to Robert. As the night goes on they share many drinks, eat dinner, and even
smoke some dope. Even the simple concept of smoking weed was one of the first
real connections the narrator and Robert had. The narrator, seeing that Robert
wanted to smoke some dope with him might have made him feel more comfortable
and think Robert as just an normal, easy going man. Once the wife falls asleep on
the couch, we begin to see how Robert begins to open up the narrators eyes. Robert
is an insightful and compassionate man who takes the time to truly listen to others
, which helps him to see them better than he could with his eyes. These are qualities
that the narrator is strongly lacking which start to inspire him to change. The only
thing on television is a documentary about cathedrals the narrator wonders if Robert
knows what a cathedral looks like so he asks him. Roberts asks him to describe the
cathedral for him, because he can t picture one. I stared hard at the shot of the
cathedral on the TV. How could I even begin to describe it? But say my life

realized the huge opportunity in covering new market areas due to the increasing
demand in Vietnam as an emerging market, many indications showed that annual
sales has a potential growth rate of around 20%, due to the increasing purchasing

What Is Reinforcement Theory
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF RESEARCH
According to Skinner s reinforcement theory or just reinforcement theory, published
by Management Mania is one of the theories focusing on human motivation. The
reinforcement theory does not used to personality but it is focuses to behaviour.
Reinforcement theory was published by American social philosopher, psychologist
and behaviourist Burrhus Frederic Skinner in 1957. A theory of a biological theory of
reinforcement (Glickman Stephen, Psychological Review, Vol 74(2), Mar 1967, 81
109) suggests that reinforcement evolved as a mechanism to insure ordinary human
being that have the appropriate stimuli. In addition, according to Educational
Psychology in 2014 that the idea of reinforcement also means ... Show more content

Skinner, or more properly, Burrhus Frederic Skinner, is one of the most widely
known psychologists of the 20th century. Skinner s in 1948 stated, in which
learning was facilitated by applying his theory in daily life of humans.
Reinforcement is simply defined as the effect of a reinforcer (Lefrancois, 2006).
Some issues concerning the control of human behaviour on his research, studies and
beliefs of learning. Skinner s write, science will increasing our power to be more
influence, change, and control human behaviour (p. 1057). Other than that, in the
other article, Skinner wrote that any list of values or things is a list of reinforcement
in conditioned or unconditioned (p. 1064). We can understand that values in our
surrounding create behaviour that will affect the behaviour in terms of
reinforcement. Based on (PsycINFO, Conger John J, Quarterly Journal of Studies on
Alcohol, Vol 17, 1956, 296 305) reinforcement theory is explanation of rewards
behaviour, even in the case of the man is apparently punished by such behaviour.
Stated by Skinner s, reinforces typically change the types of a respons and it can only
be considered reinforces when it immediately connected to the behaviour. Skinner
believed that we do have simply more productive to study observable behaviour that
happened rather than internal behaviour events in such of mind. Skinner also believed
that the best way to understand behaviour is to look at the causes of an action and its
consequences based on the environment. Last but not least, reinforcement can then be
broken down into positive and negative
Euthanasi Voluntary And Involuntary
Can you imagine that you are lying in bed and feeling extreme pain, caused by
disease, and you cannot do anything to stop it? No one would like to find
themselves in such circumstances. Unfortunately, not every person spends the last
days or weeks of life in a peaceful manner. Instead, there is a possibility of
uncontrolled physical agony and emotional distress (Bruce and Boston 1). One of the
ways of preventing sufferingat the end of life is mercy killing, or euthanasia. There
are two types of euthanasia voluntary and involuntary. Involuntary, or passive
euthanasia, occurs when a person is not able to give permission for his or her death,
e.g. if the person is in a comatose condition; voluntary euthanasia is performed with a

Some of the symptoms are intense somatic pain in the affected area, which can be the
whole body due to fast spread of cancer. Studies show that pain can be controlled in
about 95 out of every 100 people (Cancer Research 1). However, if the pain
becomes chronic, in most cases there is no way to relieve it. Very young children
have to suffer intensely for months while going through medical procedures with
negative side effects. Although 30 to 50 percent of patients survive after Even if
the metastases to the bones (Chicago Medicine), doctors usually can predict if
child will live. If it is obvious that the child will not survive, why to cause great
suffering by keeping him or her alive for a few months before the disease alone
caused death? Another example of cancer with incapable physical and emotional
pain is a facial tumor. It can be easily cured with surgery in its earliest stages;
however, if the tumor grows aggressively fast it can cause difficulty swallowing and
talking, and prolonged pain. It can also cause emotional pain due to the
disfigurement of the disease and its treatment. Most people care about their
appearance and seeing in what way cancer destroys their face can cause
embarrassment, mental turmoil, and depression. For example, one study described
the last days of a lovely, delicate,
Baseball Case Study
The next study was in 2015 and was a total of 30 baseball players. The players
returned to their previous level of competition with an 82% rate. That study also
showed a great number of players came back with great speed as well, just over 12
months (O Brien 2015). Another study was over 137 MLB pitchers. The study
focused on whether the pitchercould return and maintain the same workload as
before. The study concluded that the pitchers that have come back and are fully
healed do not need a lesser work load to continue to be healthy (Keller 2017). The

However, sometimes players will find complications with their elbow after they
get back to playing the game. When this happens, a good option is getting revision
UCL reconstruction. A 2015 study of 271 pitchers of various more pitchers get a
revision procedure than what people realize. Of the 271 pitchers included in the
study, 40 (15%) required at least 1 revision procedure during their playing career.
Three cases required a second UCL revision reconstruction. The average time from
primary surgery to revision was 5.2 years (range, 1 13 years). The average length of
career following primary reconstruction for all players was 4.9 years (range 0 22
years) (Wilson 2015). While no one would prefer to need a revision surgery, the
success after the revision surgery can be good. One study concluded that MLB
pitchers who require revision UCL reconstruction after returning to play following
primary UCL reconstruction pitch at or above their pre primary UCL reconstruction
workload whereas control pitchers who did not require revision pitch significantly
less, below their pre primary UCL reconstruction (Keller 2017). So their study found
that if you have the revision procedure, you are likely to bounce back and pitch better
than if you have never needed the revision procedure. Even though pitchers tend to
play better after returning from their revision procedure, most
What Is The Similarities Between Easter 1916 And An

The effects of war as a theme in W.B.Yeats s Easter 1916 and An Irish Airman
Foresees His Death Easter 1916 and An Irishman Foresees His Death are poems
which were written by William Butler Yeats. Easter 1916 was written to relive the
Easter Rising, an event which occurred in Ireland during Easter in the year 1916 to
confirm its independence and national identity from British. An Irishman Foresees
His Death was written as a tribute to Major Robert Gregory who had died while
fighting for his country during World War I. Although both the poems focuses on
war yet the perception viewed on war is different. Therefore, both of these poems
will be compared with the consequences of war as the theme of the poem and based
on the patriotic emotions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the perception of war in Easter 1916 it was a patriotic and collective force
especially fighting for their nation. However, in An Irish Airman Foresees His
Death, the Irishman though he was patriotic he makes war sound as though they
had to go out of compulsion or was forced to go. Moreover the airman flew in the
sky not only to fight but also to fulfill his desire. Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love (Yeats, 1918). There is deep irony in this statement
because Yeats says that those people who fight for his country and people are the
courageous man whom the poet worships and he hates those people who always try
to rule and make other people to follow them. This statement signifies Yeats hatred
towards British country that conquered and ruled Ireland. Although they had
positive thoughts towards Germany they were insisted to revolt against by the
British. In Easter 1916, British colonized Ireland and harsh anti Catholic law were
passed upon Irish people, that led to increase in Irish Nationalism and it let to revolt
in. So in this context, Yeats is talking about the British for being too offensive and it
makes the people wonder how many Irish people suffered and had been killed during
World War I. Around thirty five thousand Irish died in the First World War among one

Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, And Judaism
The following religions Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism are
among the top religions when evaluating the number of followers they encompass
worldwide (Henderson, 2005, p.1). Through assessing these major belief systems and
their views, diversity between them is apparent. These multiplicities range from
Hindus who acknowledge multitudes of gods to Muslims who believe in one God,
Allah. Although the variety of beliefs and practices exist their remains some central
concepts such as the belief that one being will bring about the unification of
religions. For example, Buddhists belief they will experience the coming of Maitrya,
Hindus believe in coming of the Kalki Avata, the Jews and Christians believe in a
Messiah and the Muslims believe in the coming of Mahdi (Woodward, 2000). The
Hand of Bodhista Maitreya is an artifact that communicates the concept that these
religions, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhismand Judaism, all believe that a
unifying religionwill one day come to fruition. Artifacts such as, Hand of Bodhista
Maitreya, can represent the faith of Buddhism but in addition hold within its art form
a universal concept that represents beliefs of other faiths. Some argue that the artifact,
Hand of Bodhista Maitreya, is a fragmented from a full body statue that represents
Maitreya that is only significant to the Buddhist community; however this
representation of Maitreya is relevant to religions and societies all over the world,
because
Infective Endocarditis
Infective endocarditis is the inflammation of the damaged parts of the heart due to
an infection usually from elsewhere in the body. In this disease the endocardium (the
inner lining of the heart) is inflamed and can lead to damaged heart valves and to
other life threatening complications. William Osler was the first one to recognize this
disease and gave a name to it in 1885 in his Gulstonian lectures.
When a patient s heart has a defect or a part that is not as strong as the rest then that
part is susceptible to infective endocarditis. This tends to come from blood flowing
from a higher pressure area in the heart to a lower pressured area. This causes an
indention in the heart s endocardium that collects deposits. When patients have
bacteremia, the presence of infectious bacteria in the blood, the bacteria often fall
into these indentions and start to collect. Once they have started to collect they will
multiply and are called vegetation.
Once vegetation happens there is an increased risk of having an abnormal
alignment in the valve that the vegetation is around. This can cause a decreased
blood flow or even a blocked valve. This may cause emboli to escape from the heart
and head to other sections of the body (i.e. the lungs or the brain) depending which
valve is being effected. Different ways that the bacteria can get in the blood are:
dental procedures, skin rashes, infections, abscesses, invasive procedures, and
surgeries.

However, students are not compelled to go to high school but most of students pass
the school entrance exam and participate in high school. In this essay I ll focus on
this statement and few other advantages and disadvantages of japanese educational
systems to determine whether japanese education is benefit or not.
First, I will show you many kinds of advantages of japanese education. As I

However, from high school, students have to pass the high school entrance exam to

As I told before, Japanese cognitive skills ranks as one of the top high level quality.
Cognitive skills are the base of study. If you are good at cognitive skills, it will be
more easier to approach something use non cognitive skills. In other word, only
having cognitive skills is not good, but cognitive skills help you to get non
cognitive skills, and it support you a lot in some situation as school, and at a work
office where you work in the future.
In addition, the indulgement what is the feature of japanese students also can be a
benefit on education. The trend of japanese students seem to depend on their mothers
or teachers.Because of this, the support of the people around the students make
students with less stress.Less stress leads students to keep the children s brain from
getting confused.
This allow students to grow their cognitive skills and non cognitive skills. Such as
concentration and self control. This makes children to cope with something difficult.
The biggest benefit of japanese education is Homeroom

Do You Hunt Deer Research Paper
Do you hunt deer, elk, or varmints with a high powered rifle? If you do, you re
probably aware of how critical a good scope is to success. I clearly remember the
day when I stalked a massive mule deer in the rain. I narrowed the distance down to
about 100 yards, raised my rifle, and could see absolutely nothing through my scope.
Moisture had gotten inside and fogged up the inner lens surfaces. Unable to shoot, I
walked away in disgust. Another time, I was sitting near a well used deertrail near
dusk when a huge buck walked up to within 50 yards of me. I was easily able to see
him with my eyes, but when I raised my rifle, my scope was dark. That was the last

Scopes with an adjustable objective (AO) can be adjusted to be error free at ranges
less or more than 100 yards. The Crossfire II scope has an adjustable objective that
can be set for error free shooting from 10 yards out to infinity, or the reasonable range
of your rifle. This is a great feature to have on any scope to improve accuracy and
success at a variety of distances.
Moisture
Moisture can be an issue with any optical device, from your glasses to your scope.
If moisture gets inside your scope, the interior surfaces of the lenses will fog up and

Arete And Nemesis
Arete, Hubris, Ate, and Nemesis are the four elements of the Ancient Greek
Homeric Cycle and explain the fundamental aspects of human nature. For example,
Arete (excellence), often leads to one becoming arrogant or over confident
(Hubris). This confidence gives rise to recklessness (Ate) and eventually one is
punished (Nemesis) for their injudicious actions. These four traits can be linked to
the actions of many famous historical figures including Bill Clinton who held the
prestigious role of president of United States and because of this felt that he could
do anything, so he recklessly had an affair and eventually was impeached from
office. Plato s Allegory of the Cave, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Epic of Gilgamesh

Drug Trials Problem

reasons, what generally comes to mind is either people who deal illegal drugs or
big businesses who charge exorbitant amounts of money for their products. There
is a third type of person who participates in enough paid drug trials to make a

progress, and problems. However, I am going to focus on mainly the problems.
When individuals try to participate in enough paid clinical drug trials to make a job

any number, greater than ten (Sharp, 2012). Even he realizes and states in his
article that this type of lying can skew data. Researchers should be looking for
those outliers is his defense (Sharp, 2012). What he doesn t seem to say is that if
everyone takes his advice and a trial ends up loaded with people who lied about their
health or lifestyle, those liars are no longer a few outliers. Studies can end up
wasting their money on inconclusive results or result in inaccurate findings. While
this may not seem like a big issues in the field of tobacco research, imagine if this
philosophy crossed over into research dealing with life threatening health
implications, these little lies on the front end of trials could cause serious issues for

each of the agencies history. Discuss some of the difference between these agencies.
The first agency is called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The mission
for the ATF is a Law enforcement agency in the United State Department of Justice
that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the

The Battle Of Gettysburg And American Civil War
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought over the first three days in July 1863, in and
around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, by Union and Confederate forces
during the American Civil War. Confederate General Robert E. Lee led the Army of
Northern Virginia, while Union Major General George Gordon Meade commanded
the Army of the Potomac. The Battle of Gettysburginvolved the largest number of
casualties of the entire war and is often described as the war s turning point. With
his army in high spirits after a victory in the battle of Chancellorsville, General
Robert E. Leedecided to move north into Maryland and Pennsylvania. Lee s goal was
to move the war out of war torn Virginia, and try to move it north to threaten northern
cities and stem the North s appetite for war. After getting wind of Lee s plan,
President Abraham Lincolnsent Major General Joseph Hooker s Army of the
Potomac as a response. A loss at Chancellorsville lead President Lincoln to replace
Major General Joseph Hooker with Major General George Gordon Meade just three
days before the Battle of Gettysburg. Once in command Major General Meade

the Army of the Potomac was sitting near the Rappahannock River in eastern Virginia

Jack Kerouac is the first to explore the world of the wandering hoboes in his novel,
On the Road. He created a world that shows the lives and motivations of this culture
he himself named the Beats. Kerouac saw the beats as people who rebel against
everything accepted to gain freedom and expression. Although he has been highly
criticized for his lack of writing skills, he made a novel that is both realistic and
enjoyable to read. He has a complete disregard for developed of plot or characters, yet
his descriptions are incredible. Kerouac?s novel On the Road defined the post World

(Vopat 303). Another more universal fear that they felt the need to escape was the
red scare. ?In ?the great McCarthy hysteria,? flight is the only means of expressing
their dissent? (Feied 293). They also do not want the commitment of a real
relationship with the opposite sex. ?Free love is rather freedom from love and
another route down that same dark death wish? (Vopat 303). They feel if they can
escape these bindings of life than will achieve a better way of living. ?Inwardly,
these excesses are made to serve a spiritual purpose of an affirmation still
unfocused, still to be defined, unsystematic? (Millstein 279). They want to just
experience the joys of life to the fullest without worrying about any responsibilities.
?They seek to make good their escape in moment to moment living, digging

give them an exalted, intensified sense of life that will make them ?live,? that will

Divorce In The Squid And The Whale
In the movie The Squid and the Whale , Bernard (the father) and Joan (the mother)
are divorcing which make their two children, Walt and Frank, facing a difficult time.
Their family is always playing competitive sports: boxing, tennis and table tennis.
The parents are competitors as writers and opponents in the games. Throughout the
movie, the parents never show love and affection to each other. They always argue
using inappropriate languages in front of the children. When they divorced and
decide to have joint custody, they are more concern on separating their properties
evenly than focus on the children s feelings. There is not an adjusting period for the
children to accept the reality of their parents divorceand is asked to move to a new
environment with Bernard immediately. The children are bouncing back and forth
between Joan and Bernard. Neither Joan nor Bernard wants to be responsible for the
children. They accused each other when they are called by the schools for... Show

Frank shows fixation on the oral stage for his drinking behavior and anal stage for
his masturbating behavior in school. On the other hand, Walt shows fixation on the
phallic stage for the increase in sexual urges. There are also several defense
mechanisms used by the children to protect themselves from painful emotions. Walt
uses pathologic defense mechanism to deny the divorce: asking the cat and the way
to school. He is also splitting his mother to only bad figure and his father to only good
figure and blames solely on his mother for the divorce. When he paralyzed the song,
he uses neurotic defense mechanism of rationalizing that he figures he could have
written the song. Frank uses immature defense mechanism of acting out:
masturbating at the school library and smearing the semen on the locker. These
problematic social behaviors are noticed after the parents
Nietzsche s Philosophy On Personal Life And Education
Friedrich Nietzsche was a German, writer, poet, thinker and philopher. He was
renowned for his ideas on the end of religion, existentialism and the concept of good
and evil. Nietzsche focused essentially on the end of religion. He once declared that
God is dead , a statement that decidedly defied Christianity as well as morality.
According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, he was rapt in the
development of individual and cultural health, and believed in life, creativity, power,
and down to earth realities, rather than those situated in a world beyond . Nietzsche s
work inspired the likes of famed psychologist such as Sigmund Freud as well as other
philosophers. Although most of his ideas opposed what other philosophers such as
Plato, Immanuel Kantand John Stuart Mills have taught us, his theories on
metaphysics, ethics, and politics may very well have independently shape society has
it is today.
Personal Life and Education
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born on October 15, 1844 in Röcken Germany.
He was raised as a Lutheran where his father served as a pastor. However, in later
years, Nietzsche developed a certain disregard for the church and abandon
Christianity all together, thus proclaiming God is dead. The death of his father and
younger brother proved rather distressing for young Nietzsche who was the only
male in a household filled with women. He attended prestigious boarding school
where he proved his capabilities in the classics, literature and
Persuasive Essay On Gender Neutral Rooming
As Gloria Steinem once said, A gender equal society would be one where the word
gender does not exist: where everyone can be themselves . Recently, Lehigh has
been implemented something new to better embrace the meaning of gender
inclusion. The newest residence hall building, Farrington Square Apartment, is
now available for all gender rooming, which means girls and boys can live together
in one room. Residence Life, Residential Service, and the Pride Center believe, This
is an active effort to align Lehigh s living options with the Principles of Our
Equitable Community . Even though to some extent, it is hard for people, who
traditionally lived in dormitories divided into male and female, to become
accustomed to the gender inclusive rooming, this decision is a huge progress Lehigh
made in giving students a sense of belonging and allowing them to experience more
diverse living styles. It stands to reason that gender neutral rooming is definitely
beneficial to give students a sense of inclusion, especially for transgenderand gender
non conforming students. Ashley Lemmons, the director of Residence Life, wrote in
an email that : Students at Lehigh should feel a sense of belonging to Lehigh and
should also find micro community within Lehigh where they feel at home. Providing
students with all gender housing options enables them to feel Lehigh cares about
their feelings and emotions indeed. It is a well established fact that if you feel
unsure about yourself to be a girl
Examples Of Liberalism In 1984
The heavy political climate in America s recent years has sparked an increase in
popularity of George Orwell s novel 1984. Not only is there controversy as to what
Orwell depicts in the novel, but there is also confusion and debate as to what we
are seeing in our developing world presently. While it is easy to hold strong beliefs
on each end of the spectrum, it is necessary to take into account what we can gain
from both sides rather than limiting ourselves to one or the other. The articles
provided give two very different perspectives on the book, but what they have in
common is extremity. This novel was without a doubt intentionally written with an
underlying message of extremity in terms of conservatism and liberalism. I strongly
believe that Orwell wrote 1984 with both ends of the spectrum in mind to depict a
world of radicalism in which chaos and absurdities are ever so present.... Show more

It is an extreme reminder that complete faith in government leads to blindness that
strips each individual of humanity and freedom. Nathan Schlueter author of The True
Lessons of 1984 , defends his conservative viewpoint through evidence found in the
novel. Oceania s food rations, totalitarian rule, and propaganda are prime examples of
socialism in 1984. At one point in the novel, O Brien, the voice of the socialist
party, speaks to Winston about the future of society in Oceania. He states that the
primary goal will be to eliminate human experience. He explains to Winston: Never
will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity,
or courage, or integrity. Ultimately the purpose of all this would to give control and
power to Big Brother which is a primary sentiment of socialist totalitarianism. 1984
illustrates the worst of socialism and I think that it is crucial to learn from

Seat Belts In Cars
Newton s first law says than an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in
motion will stay in motion unless interrupted by a net force. This relates to seat belts
in cars because seat belts are used to stop people from being hurtled out of their cars.
They do this by abruptly stopping the person when the vehicleeither crashes or
brakes. Without seat belts, you couldn t break abruptly without being jerked
forward at the same speed in which your vehicle was traveling at. That means that if
you had to break abruptly or crashed after traveling at a fast speed, you would be
hurtled out of the window. But because seat belts add a net forceto stop us, then the
object in motion will start to rest. Newton s second law states that the acceleration

The Private Memoirs And Confessions Of A Justified Sinner
The history of gothic literature is a discussion of how the classic gothic literature
has morphed into today s contemporary gothic literature. From the beginning days of
gothic writing one of the main focuses has been on the issues that were relevant in
the county or world at the time. Most people think of gothic writings as a scary story
of gloom and doom, but there are many aspects that encompass a gothic writing. The
true is that there are many elements to a gothic writing. The writer does not need to
use all of them at the same time, but to use some of them to make it a gothic writing.

Confessions of a Justified Sinner. (Snodgrass) Many people of authority in
America believed that the gothic genre was source of outside evil on the new

The Beginnings Of Cinema United States
2 THE BEGINNINGS OF CINEMA UNITED STATES
The first public screening of a film in the United States took place in 1896 in New
York. The projector was developed by inventor Thomas Alva Edison, whose company
was also the producer of the short films. Fatherhood American fiction cinema is often
attributed to Edwin S. Porter, who in 1903 used an innovative technique mount 8
minute film Assault and robbery of a train by which different fragments from
different shots of the same film was together to form a narrative whole. This work
became film in a very popular art form, and led to nationwide screening rooms
appear small, so called nickelodeones.
David Wark Griffith, a disciple of Porter, developed the principles of this using
panoramic and close up shots, as well as parallel assemblies as a means of expression
to maintain dramatic tension, which became the most important silent film pioneer

Four Cardinal Signs Of Inflammation
Inflammation is the response of our body to harmful stimuli. Redness, swelling,
increased heat and pain are the four cardinal signs of this inflammatory response.
The skin barrier was primarily damaged due to the tick bite. The tick was
embedded into the skin. The skin is a natural mechanical barrier, and the first line
of defense for the body. When this injury occurred to the body, a secondary line of
defense was initiated. Redness/Rubor The rubor can be explained by vasodilation at
the site causes increased blood flow to the area. Vasodilation is caused by histamine.
When the body recognizes a barrier has been damaged the injured body cells release
chemicals called histamines. Histamines begin the inflammatory response by limiting
The Issue Of Teenage Pregnancy
Introduction:
Teenage pregnancy is a hot button issue in the United States that has lured the
attention of citizens for many years. Since its peak in 1990, teen pregnancy has
declined significantly, but is still held as the center for much controversy, especially
with recent reality television shows that many claim are glorifying teenage pregnancy
(The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 2014; Henson,
2011). Although numbers of pregnant teens are down, certain areas continue to
struggle with this issue, and are seeking new ways to get the message across. This
case study focuses on a series of print and transportation advertisements that were
distributed in Milwaukee and Chicago from approximately 2009 through 2013
(Murray, 2013). The following study also showcases the stigmas surrounding the ads
and links relevant coursework from chapters two, three, and four via the campaign s
choice of tactics.
Overview of Case:
The key elements of this case study is the primary method of delivery (public
transportation), use of visual metaphor (showing a pregnant teen as male), and use of
shock tactics. In the most recent case, the persuader is the City of Chicago and the
Chicago Department of Health (Murray, 2013). They are trying to show the
importance of teen pregnancy awareness through an alarming (and medically
impossible) metaphor, attempting to persuade its audience to become aware of this
issue and to do something about it, whether it be teens practicing
Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone By Sophocles
The play, Antigone, written by Sophocles shows the different downfalls of
characters. One of these characters is Creon. Creon does not realize that his pride
and stubbornness has interfered his ability to deal with problems and rule of Thebes
properly. By analyzing Creon, one could see that he is considered a tragic heroin this
play. The characteristics a person must have to be a tragic hero is he has a hamartia, or
tragic flaw. More often than not that tragic flaw is excessive pride, or a hubris. The
character then goes through a peripeteia, which is a twist where the character
realizes that things will not turn out the way he expected. Finally, the character
has an anagnorisis, which is their epiphany that makes them realize their hamartia
(Cap, Creon as a Tragic Character in Antigone ). The tragic hero characteristics in
Creon are clearly shown when he speaks with blind prophet, Teiresias. The
character interaction between Creon and Teiresias helps develop Creon as a tragic
hero in Antigone. Being the leader of Thebes, Creon wants order and loyalty to the
city. After the death of Eteocles and Polyneices, Creon makes it known that anyone
who acts against the city is an enemy. Creon decides that Polyneices would not
receive a burial because he sees him as a traitor. Not burying the dead is uncommon
for many since it went against religious beliefs. Antigone saw the wrong that was
being done, as did other citizens. Creon says that for quite a while some people in the

So I was like why not just read the book too, but once I had really got into the book
I had became more and more interested because Katniss was willing to risk her life
into protecting her sister. The Hunger Game was a event that no one had ever wanted
it to exist, but since the Capitol had way too much power they couldn t doing
anything about it because they don t want the things that had happened to District 13
to happen to them. And throughout the book many things had happened but the
relationship between Peeta and Katniss is still not really understandable because
they themself still don t know if them really have feeling for each other. Also I think
what the author is trying to say is that the Capitol or as in the government should
never have too much power because if someone has a little too much of something is
The Curious Case Of Marilyn Monroe
The Curious Case of Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was one of the biggest stars in her era, and as stars do, they die;
and Marilyn was no exception. Much like the life of Marilyn Monroe, her death
was also one that was shrouded in mystery. People have proposed many theories as
to why Marilyn died; the most popular conspiracy theory being the result of her
death by the hands Kennedys. However, some people may say that there is evidence
to support this theory, but these are just fabricated lies spread by people trying to
harm the Kennedy s reputation. It is evident that Marilyn Monroe died from drug

The investigation went on for three months and one would think that after a
thorough three month investigation that trained investigators would find
evidence to support the fact that Monroe was murdered. However, they did not
find any evidence because there was no credible evidence to support the fact that
she was murdered. Although, there was plenty of evidence found by investigators
to display that she died of an overdose. Including her autopsy, this displayed no
signs of foul play but an abundant amount of drugs. If she was murdered, there
would obviously be signs of foul play. Lastly, it is important to note that Marilyn
had a drug addiction, and this was not the only time she had tried drugs. Since she
had heavily relied on pills in her daily life to just function normally and maintain
the image that she was still rather normally, she became heavily dependent on those
pills, which inevitably lead to an addiction. The pills Monroe was addicted to were
used to control her behavior, which leads to the assumption that she was plagued
with mental issues, and it is not uncommon for someone with a mental disorder to
want to end their life. Therefore, it is evident that there is credible evidence to
support the fact that Monroe died from an overdose because the amount of drugs in
her body was way passed the lethal amount, a thorough investigation was conducted
to look for evidence that she was murdered and there was none, and lastly she
suffered from

Swot Analysis Of Coca Cola Company
Triple Bottom Line within The Coca Cola Company
Laquisha Highsmith
Columbia Southern University Triple Bottom Line within The Coca Cola Company
What is the definition of triple bottom line and does Coca Cola have this triple
bottom line? This is a question many would think relates to financial statistics and
tremendously high revenue earnings. Not even close to the true meaning. Triple
bottom line (TBL) has three distinctive frameworks or bottom lines consisting of
the (1) profit bottom line, (2) people bottom line, and (3) and the planet bottom line
or simply put it means; the three P s profit, people, and planet (Unknown, 2009).
This concept is at the core of Coca Cola in their ability to accurate measure
monetary, community, and environmental performances or unmask weaknesses to
correct with a strategic plan. In completing a SWOT analysis for The Coca Cola
Company, the three P s are relevant in daily operations and globally during joint
ventures with other partners. Now, this essay will uncover each bottom line in detail
within The Coca Cola Company and state how the company specifically addresses as
a strength, weakness, opportunity, or threat. The first area of discuss advances a
helping hand to stimulate the additional two distinctive bottom lines the profits.
First, the profit bottom line takes into account the typical balance sheet of assets

If I Won The Lottery Essay. what would you do if you won the lottery essay ...

  • 1. If I Won The Lottery Essay Crafting an essay on the hypothetical scenario of winning the lottery may initially seem like a straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of such a topic presents a unique set of challenges. The difficulty lies not only in envisioning the life-changing circumstances but also in articulating the myriad thoughts and emotions that would accompany such an event. Firstly, navigating the balance between fantasy and realism is crucial. While the premise is imaginary, the essay should maintain a level of coherence and believability to engage the reader. Striking this delicate equilibrium requires a thoughtful exploration of the potential impacts on one's life, relationships, and personal growth. Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and superficial narratives commonly associated with lottery-winning scenarios. The temptation to focus solely on extravagant purchases and lavish lifestyles may overshadow more profound aspects, such as the impact on personal values, sense of purpose, and overall well-being. Furthermore, addressing the societal implications of sudden wealth can be complex. Analyzing how newfound affluence might affect relationships, social dynamics, and one's sense of responsibility requires a nuanced approach. This involves delving into the potential pitfalls and responsibilities that come with substantial financial windfalls, adding depth and complexity to the essay. Additionally, crafting a captivating narrative that goes beyond materialistic pursuits is crucial. Exploring personal growth, philanthropy, and the pursuit of meaningful endeavors can elevate the essay, demonstrating a more profound understanding of the potential consequences and opportunities that arise with a lottery win. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of winning the lottery demands careful consideration of both the immediate and long-term consequences. Striking the right balance between imagination and realism, avoiding clichГ©s, and exploring the broader societal and personal implications all contribute to the complexity of the task. For those seeking assistance with essays on a variety of topics, professional writing services like HelpWriting.net offer a range of options to meet diverse academic needs. Whether it's exploring hypothetical scenarios or delving into more conventional subjects, such services provide a valuable resource for those looking to enhance their writing or meet tight deadlines. • 2. Gaius Octavianus As The Ruler Of The Great Roman Empire Introduction Gaius Julius Octavianus assumed the throne as the ruler of the great Roman Empire in 30 B.C. During his reign as emperor which ran for about four and a half decades, Gaius institutionalized Rome with ideologies and notions that were centered on the combined traditions of Republican Rome and the realities of the kingship concept. Gaius Octavian was conferred with the title of Augustus in 27 B.C by the senate. The honorific title of Augustus was a reflection of connotations stateliness and dignity. Prior to the conferment of the title, an official imperial portrait that embodied the qualities wished to be projected by Octavian the Emperor Augustus was created. Several hundreds of this portrait were imprinted on gemstones, coins, monumental reliefs and statues and were disseminated to region of the empire during and after Gaius reign. The above ... The copies were dispersed throughout the Roman Empire in a bid that further copies could be made and installed in public places. Via the imprints of the statue on coins, and busts, the empire was consistently reminded of the Emperor s authority and power. Aristocratic portraits of the late Roman Republic were always conceived as being veristic, which implies that they documented wrinkles, baldness and the facial impetrations of the personality they were modeled after. Gaius Octavian looked to a new ideology of Roman art and chose a more idealized, classicizing portrait which would capture his individual features and portray him as a never aging, and powerful ruler. In Gaius own opinion it would not be uncommon for the Emperor to be portrayed with the attributes of gods. He believed that after his passing, he would be deified but a public representation of himself in life would also depict him as having divine
  • 3. Chinua Achebe s The Of The Sea Again Home Again,... Home again, home again, jiggety jig (Wikipedia). No longer permitted to dwell in the land of one s birth and family a dismal and forlorn experience of bitterness and sorrow whether one expelled from one s country by political force or by self preservation. According to the Oxford English Dictionary the term exile defined as the state of castaway and barred from one s native country, typically for political or punitive reasons. A parallel established between Achebe s Okonkwo, the name implies male pride, stubbornness, and his forced exile for self preservation and the exile of Chinua Achebe, himself. The effects of war as a theme in W.B.Yeats s Easter 1916 and An Irish Airman Foresees His Death Easter 1916 and An Irishman Foresees His Death are poems which were written by William Butler Yeats. Easter 1916 was written to relive the Easter Rising, an event which occurred in Ireland during Easter in the year 1916 to confirm its independence and national identity from British. An Irishman Foresees His Death was written as a tribute to Major Robert Gregory who had died while fighting for his country during World War I. For the perception of war in Easter 1916 it was a patriotic and collective force especially fighting for their nation. However, in An Irish Airman Foresees His Death, the Irishman though he was patriotic he makes war sound as though they had to go out of compulsion or was forced to go. Moreover the airman flew in the sky not only to fight but also to fulfill his desire. Those that I fight I do not hate, Those that I guard I do not love (Yeats, 1918). There is deep irony in this statement because Yeats says that those people who fight for his country and people are the courageous man whom the poet worships and he hates those people who always try to rule and make other people to follow them. This statement signifies Yeats hatred towards British country that conquered and ruled Ireland. Although they had positive thoughts towards Germany they were insisted to revolt against by the British. In Easter 1916, British colonized Ireland and harsh anti Catholic law were passed upon Irish people, that led to increase in Irish Nationalism and it let to revolt in. So in this context, Yeats is talking about the British for being too offensive and it makes the people wonder how many Irish people suffered and had been killed during World War I. Around thirty five thousand Irish died in the First World War among one hundred forty

  • 12. Infective Endocarditis Infective endocarditis is the inflammation of the damaged parts of the heart due to an infection usually from elsewhere in the body. In this disease the endocardium (the inner lining of the heart) is inflamed and can lead to damaged heart valves and to other life threatening complications. William Osler was the first one to recognize this disease and gave a name to it in 1885 in his Gulstonian lectures. When a patient s heart has a defect or a part that is not as strong as the rest then that part is susceptible to infective endocarditis. This tends to come from blood flowing from a higher pressure area in the heart to a lower pressured area. This causes an indention in the heart s endocardium that collects deposits. When patients have bacteremia, the presence of infectious bacteria in the blood, the bacteria often fall into these indentions and start to collect. Once they have started to collect they will multiply and are called vegetation. Once vegetation happens there is an increased risk of having an abnormal alignment in the valve that the vegetation is around. This can cause a decreased blood flow or even a blocked valve. This may cause emboli to escape from the heart and head to other sections of the body (i.e. the lungs or the brain) depending which valve is being effected. Different ways that the bacteria can get in the blood are: dental procedures, skin rashes, infections, abscesses, invasive procedures, and surgeries. The nursing process should be

Even though to some extent, it is hard for people, who traditionally lived in dormitories divided into male and female, to become accustomed to the gender inclusive rooming, this decision is a huge progress Lehigh made in giving students a sense of belonging and allowing them to experience more diverse living styles. It stands to reason that gender neutral rooming is definitely beneficial to give students a sense of inclusion, especially for transgenderand gender non conforming students. Ashley Lemmons, the director of Residence Life, wrote in an email that : Students at Lehigh should feel a sense of belonging to Lehigh and should also find micro community within Lehigh where they feel at home. Providing students with all gender housing options enables them to feel Lehigh cares about their feelings and emotions indeed. It is a well established fact that if you feel unsure about yourself to be a girl

Not only is there controversy as to what Orwell depicts in the novel, but there is also confusion and debate as to what we are seeing in our developing world presently. While it is easy to hold strong beliefs on each end of the spectrum, it is necessary to take into account what we can gain from both sides rather than limiting ourselves to one or the other. The articles provided give two very different perspectives on the book, but what they have in common is extremity. This novel was without a doubt intentionally written with an underlying message of extremity in terms of conservatism and liberalism. I strongly believe that Orwell wrote 1984 with both ends of the spectrum in mind to depict a world of radicalism in which chaos and absurdities are ever so present.... Nathan Schlueter author of The True Lessons of 1984 , defends his conservative viewpoint through evidence found in the novel. Oceania s food rations, totalitarian rule, and propaganda are prime examples of socialism in 1984. At one point in the novel, O Brien, the voice of the socialist party, speaks to Winston about the future of society in Oceania. He states that the primary goal will be to eliminate human experience. He explains to Winston: Never will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. Ultimately the purpose of all this would to give control and power to Big Brother which is a primary sentiment of socialist totalitarianism. 1984 illustrates the worst of socialism and I think that it is crucial to learn from

This relates to seat belts in cars because seat belts are used to stop people from being hurtled out of their cars. They do this by abruptly stopping the person when the vehicleeither crashes or brakes. Without seat belts, you couldn t break abruptly without being jerked forward at the same speed in which your vehicle was traveling at. That means that if you had to break abruptly or crashed after traveling at a fast speed, you would be hurtled out of the window. But because seat belts add a net forceto stop us, then the object in motion will start to rest. Newton s second law states that the acceleration

Since its peak in 1990, teen pregnancy has declined significantly, but is still held as the center for much controversy, especially with recent reality television shows that many claim are glorifying teenage pregnancy (The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 2014; Henson, 2011). Although numbers of pregnant teens are down, certain areas continue to struggle with this issue, and are seeking new ways to get the message across. This case study focuses on a series of print and transportation advertisements that were distributed in Milwaukee and Chicago from approximately 2009 through 2013 (Murray, 2013). Finally, the character has an anagnorisis, which is their epiphany that makes them realize their hamartia (Cap, Creon as a Tragic Character in Antigone ). The tragic hero characteristics in Creon are clearly shown when he speaks with blind prophet, Teiresias. The character interaction between Creon and Teiresias helps develop Creon as a tragic hero in Antigone. Being the leader of Thebes, Creon wants order and loyalty to the city. After the death of Eteocles and Polyneices, Creon makes it known that anyone who acts against the city is an enemy. Creon decides that Polyneices would not receive a burial because he sees him as a traitor. Not burying the dead is uncommon for many since it went against religious beliefs. However, they did not find any evidence because there was no credible evidence to support the fact that she was murdered. Although, there was plenty of evidence found by investigators to display that she died of an overdose. Including her autopsy, this displayed no signs of foul play but an abundant amount of drugs. If she was murdered, there would obviously be signs of foul play. Lastly, it is important to note that Marilyn had a drug addiction, and this was not the only time she had tried drugs. Since she had heavily relied on pills in her daily life to just function normally and maintain the image that she was still rather normally, she became heavily dependent on those pills, which inevitably lead to an addiction. The pills Monroe was addicted to were used to control her behavior, which leads to the assumption that she was plagued with mental issues, and it is not uncommon for someone with a mental disorder to want to end their life. Therefore, it is evident that there is credible evidence to support the fact that Monroe died from an overdose because the amount of drugs in her body was way passed the lethal amount, a thorough investigation was conducted to look for evidence that she was murdered and there was none, and lastly she suffered from
