Global Warming Solution Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of global warming solutions is undoubtedly a challenging
endeavor. Tackling such a complex and pressing issue demands a comprehensive understanding
of the scientific, economic, and political aspects surrounding climate change. The task involves
delving into a vast pool of information, ranging from greenhouse gas emissions and renewable
energy technologies to international agreements and governmental policies.
To begin with, one must navigate through the plethora of scientific data and research studies to
establish a solid foundation for the essay. Understanding the causes and consequences of global
warming requires a nuanced comprehension of climate science, meteorology, and environmental
studies. This initial step demands both time and intellectual effort to synthesize disparate
information into a coherent narrative.
Moreover, addressing potential solutions to global warming involves a deep dive into the realms
of sustainable practices, alternative energy sources, and innovative technologies. Analyzing the
effectiveness of these solutions requires critical thinking and the ability to weigh the pros and
cons of various approaches. The interconnected nature of global warming with socio-economic
factors further complicates the analysis, as considerations of equity, justice, and international
cooperation come into play.
Crafting a compelling essay on global warming solutions also demands a keen awareness of the
political landscape. Understanding the positions of different countries, the role of multinational
corporations, and the dynamics of international climate negotiations is essential. Articulating the
challenges and opportunities in global cooperation to combat climate change adds another layer
of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, writing an essay on global warming solutions is a formidable task that necessitates
in-depth research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of interdisciplinary concepts.
The synthesis of scientific, technological, economic, and political information requires a careful
balance to present a well-rounded and informed perspective on the topic.

Animal Skulls Essay
1.How do the various characteristics of animal skulls indicate the importance of one
sense over another?
The animal s skull indicates the prominence of its senses. On large skulls, we can
infer the use of one sense and the importance of it by the location. Another example
would be the jaguar skull and jaguar orbits.
2.What skull features do prey animals have in common?
Most prey animals have eyes located on the side of their heads rather than the front.
All skulls have eyes located in the front of their head helps to judge distance as the
relative size of their nasal passage in skull help to indicate their sense of smell. Lastly,
prey animals are herbivores.

designed to tear apart flesh and muscle. we could determine if the animal ate meat or
leafy vegetation, further determining if it acted as a predator or prey.
5.How do carnivore and primate skulls differ?
The primates braincase is relatively larger and they have teeth for cutting to chew
food. The primates also have eyes that are facing forward and smaller molars. On the
other hands, Carnivores have teeth for catching prey. The carnivores generally have
eyes on the sides of their heads and the ears positioned more forward facing than
primates. They also more tent to have longer rostrums than primates.
6.Describe the characteristics of each of the animal skulls that you classified. Be sure
to list the Order to which each mammalian skull resides.
The chiroptera has large canines, eye orbits and a large head when compared to its
body.
The proboscidea has cheek teeth that are adapted for grinding and tusks from the
upper incisors for males.
The perissodactyla has a visor, long and narrow nasal bones and canines that are

How does Rita and Franks Relationship change between Act one scene 1 and Act 2
scene 1? Frank is a university lecturer and will be teaching Rita what she wants to
know about literature and another world outside of her own. Russell has
interpreted the character of Rita as a copy of himself. This is because he was also
a hairdresser and went to a night school to do his O levels before he became a
famous writer. When we first see Frank he is in his office and appears to be
looking for a book on the shelf. The audience then realises that he is actually looking
for a bottle of whisky that he has hidden behind a book. This is symbolic for that
Frank is hiding his drinking problems behind his work and education. Another

At this moment she has realized that she doesn t want to end like her mum and
sitting just in a pub singing songs. So she decided to carry on going to the course.
All in all we can see that both characters have changed. On the one hand Rita who
is less self confident and has decided to distance herself from her old live and on
the other hand Frank shows more feelings and so we can see that now there s
really a relation between the two. In act 2 scene 1, Rita is back from London and
comes to Frank s office. They talk about the time in which they haven t seen each
other and Rita gives Frank an expensive pen as a present. Frank hasn t changed a
lot in contrast to Rita. He is still drinking and smoking. Rita, however, has changed
very much. She has given up smoking and has bought new clothes. She has new
friends and seems more educated. She has even lost her innocent point of view .
Because of that Frank thinks that Rita doesn t need him anymore, as she has
achieved everything she has wanted from Frank at the beginning of the play. After
the time Rita spends at Summer School, she comes back with a new attitude that is
not only seen in the way she dresses but also in her attitude towards Frank. One of
the main changes that have occurred in Rita is the way she responds to FranksВґ

The article, Why Do You Think They re Called For Profit Colleges? by Kevin
Carey first appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education on July 25, 2010. In this
article, Carey discusses the controversy concerning the billions of dollars in federal
aid money received by for profit colleges. He introduces Michael Clifford, who,

describes Clifford as ...an interesting man sincere, optimistic, a true believer in higher

In case, you are not aware, for profit tuition is much higher than that of public
institutions, and for profits receive a quarter of all federal aid while only enrolling
10 percent of all students (216). The real problem is that students of the much more
expensive for profit institutions tend to borrow a lot more money than the students
of public institutions do and are often unable to repay these loans upon graduating
and entering the work force. In fact, most graduates of for profit institutions are
unable to even get a job with their freshly awarded on line diplomas and therefore
default on their federally subsidized student loans due to lack of income. Clifford
refutes indications that the excessive amount of student debt is directly related to
the cost of education, and therefore, disapproves of the Obama administration s
proposal to disallow further federal aid to any student who has exceeded a certain
percentage of debt in relation to income. In spite of statistics that predict more than
half of his students loans will enter default, he simply does not feel that it is the

Hiv And The Prevalence Of Hiv Essay
HIV In Adolescents
Shavon Q Frasier
Delaware Technical and Community College
Abstract
According to the CDC, In the United States the prevalence of HIV in adolescents
from age 13 24 is estimated to account for 22% of all new cases (cdc.gov 2016). Of
those cases, the most new cases occurred among gay and bisexual males. Furthermore
young African American and Latino gay and bisexual males have been affected in
higher numbers than any other group. Addressing HIV in our youth entails multiple
avenues to curtail the rising numbers. Including, but not limited to, education, tools
for risk reduction, healthy decisions, effective communication, as well as treatment
and care. How did our nation s youth reach this point? How can change be
implemented? The following will discuss the trends and statistics on the prevalence
of HIV in our youth as well as the efforts being made to decrease the numbers of
newly reported cases.
The HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States among adolescents is a continuing
upward trend despite the emphasis on abstinence. Adolescents continue to
participate in risky sexual behaviors. Youth age 13 24 accounted for more than 1 in
5 new HIV diagnoses in 2014 (cdc.gov 2016). An estimated 9,731 youth age 13 24
were diagnosed with HIV in 2014 in the United States. Eighty one percent (7,868)
of diagnoses among youth occurred in persons age 20 24 (cdc.gov 2016). Among
youth ages 13 24 diagnosed with HIV in 2014, 80% (7,828) were
Comparing Gilgamesh And The Old Testament
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Old Testament share several similarities. I found the
greatest similarities from Old Testament were found in the book of Genesis. Both
texts shared common characters, plots, and themes. Gilgamesh and Genesis contain
godly characters that created man. In the book of Genesis, Then the LORD God
molded man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life, so that man became as living being. (Smith and Goodspeed 2). Likewise,
Gilgamesh contained multiple gods, Aruru washed her hands, she pinched off some
clay, and threw it into the wilderness. In the wilderness she created valiant Enkidu,
born of Silence, endowed with strength by Ninurta. (Kovacs 6). Arura is the goddess

God told Noah, Make yourself an ark of oleander wood; make the ark with cabins,
and smear it with bitumen inside and out. This is how you are to make it: is the
length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits and its height
thirty cubits (Smith and Goodspeed 5). After surviving the storm god said to
Noah and his sons, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. The fear and dread of
you shall be on every wild beast of the earth and an every bird of the air; as in the
case of all the reptiles on the ground and all the fish of the sea, they have been
delivered into your power. Everything that moves, that is alive, is to be food for
you; as I once gave you the green plants, I now give you everything (Smith and
Goodspeed 7). Similarly, In the epic of Gilgamesh, Utanapishtim followed the
orders of Ea the god of wisdom by also building a boat. Ea said to Utanapishtim,
Tear down the house and build a boat!... Make all living beings go up into the boat.
The boat, which you are to build, its dimensions must measure equal to each other:
its length must correspond to its width. Roof it over like the Apsu (Kovacs 98). After
surviving the deluge, Enlil said to Utanapishtim and his wife, Previously
Utanapishtim was a human being. But now let Utanapishtim and his wife become
like us, the gods (Kovacs 103)! The theme portrayed by the authors was that the men

The Iceman s Axe Essay
Murdered. He was murdered. Who? The 5,300 year old human time capsule, whose
name is Г–tzi. Theories about the death of Otzi are as varied as the ages through
which he s slept . Assassination by an envious, bloodthirsty clan mate seems most
plausible. This scenario is likely because of Otzi s copper axe, the arrowhead which
took his life, and a large cavedrawing with a shocking story to tell. Г–tzi, like all of
us, far from invincible, deserves justice.
The Iceman s axe is the first piece of important evidence to consider in this ancient
cold case. Made of smelted copper and advanced for his time, the axe signifies that

that someone could have desired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence also suggests that a fellow clansman was the killer. Further evidence of
motive is suggested by Г–tzi s copper axe the coveted tribal symbol of status.
Similarity of arrowheads belonging to Г–tzi and his killer along with the skill of the
archer and the cave art depicting the dirty deed provide credible evidence which
supports the assassination theory of the crime. Г–tzi was clearly killed by a skilled
assassin determined to be his demise. Hopefully, someday, through yet uncovered
evidence, we will conclusively find Г–tzi s killer so this cold case may be closed and
he will, at last, be laid to

philosophy would seem to be at issue in the passage? Answer: Philosophy of Mind,
Philosophy of Language What is Wittgenstein claiming in the passage? Wittgenstein
is claiming that words and signs originating from private language cannot be defined
in any meaningful manner, since the words and signs didnt come from common
language (the language that has shared meaning among the masses), thus no
definitive meaning can be derived and should not be used. Having decided on the
nature of Wittgenstein s claim, what are the grounds (reasons) for it that Wittgenstein
provides? He supports his claim by saying the S in private language can represent
sensation to him; however, when someone else interprets the S , it can different
notions of meanings. Hence, he mentions in his argument that it would not help
either to say that it need not be a sensation; that when he writes S , he has something .

However that sensation is something that is unique to the person experiencing that
sensation and can t be understood by others. Furthermore, that sensation is something
in the end, but that statement in its integrity is just as vague since not everyone
would be able to understand what something is as much as they would understand
what sensation is. Wittgenstein defends this by stating that, in basics of language,
words are just noises. Yet, he refutes this by claiming that sound is an expression
only as it occurs in a particular language game ; This meant until external meaning is
given to the sounds(words), people derives their own personal meaning of the sounds

Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory Of Identity
According to Freud the id is unconscious by definition:
It is the dark, inaccessible part of our personality, what little we know of it we have
learned from our study of the dream and of course the construction of neurotic
symptoms, and most of that is of a negative character and can be described only as a
contrast to the ego. We approach the id with analogies: we call it a chaos, a cauldron
full of seething excitations. ...It is filled with energy reaching it from the instincts,
but it has no organization, produces no collective will, but only a striving to bring
about the satisfaction of the instinctual needs subject to the observance of the
pleasure principle.(1) In Psychoanalytic theory, Freud divides the personality into

that are used. The ingredients are: film forming agents, resins and plasticizers,
solvents, and coloring agents. The process of a nail polish, apart from being top

Political issues on Student Loans As a student who has difficulties affording
increasingly high tuition in college, financial aid and student loans is one of the
biggest concerns for me. Even though with a low interest rate of student loans, it is
still hard to pay back the debt after graduation. As in recent years, the cost of
universities in America has rose to such a level that it has exceeded the rate of
inflation. (Walker) According to CNBC, America has more than $1.2 trillion of
student loan debt, what s more, about 10 million federal student loans are taken out

recently there are some debates happening that has influenced the interest rate of

lots of programs designed to assist students, such as providing student loans. In the
United States, there are two kinds of student loans. One is federal student loans and
the other one is called Private Loan. Federal Student loans also have three different
types, which are Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans and Perkins Loans. By giving student

Nazi Germany During World War I
After World War I, Adolf Hitler formed the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment
and Propaganda after his rise to power in Germany. Hitler selected Dr. Joseph
Goebbels as the head of the Reich Ministry to promote propaganda. The FГјhrer or
Mr. Hitler explained in his book Mein Kampf why propaganda should be used to
control the populace and how it had been a useful weapon for the allies during
World War I. Hitler continued by criticizing the German leadership for failing to use
propaganda in any meaningful way during the war, and described how the new
regime could use it to its fullest power. (Stout) Many historians believe that
propaganda was Hitler s most powerful weapon employed by Nazi Germanyduring
World War II. What exactly was this powerful weapon? Merriam Webster defines
propaganda as an idea or statements that are often false of exaggerated and that are
spread in order to help a cause, a political leader, a government, etc. (Merriam
Webster). Dr. Goebbels took charge of every means to spread a Hitler s message. Art
was no longer just paint to canvas; it played an important role in communicating
Hitler s message. Art became a tool for communication and expression Adolf Hitler
and the Third Reich vision of a cultural cleansed race. (Dinsmore) All content that
did not support the Nazi s vision was censored or destroyed. Goebbels worked to

and former Minotaur slayer, Theseus. Now, Theseus was a man of great respect,
and he helped whomever he could, including comforting women at the beginning
of the story who were weeping over the loss of their children to the Minotaur years
ago. He was also described as having a great prison, where he help two former
princes Palamon and Arcite. These prisoners also happened to be cousins. One
day, while looking out the prison window Palamon saw the most beautiful woman
he had ever seen, and it made him give a scream of joy, for he was in love. Arcite,
who had been sleeping at the time buzzed to life and the noise and joined Palamon

resulted in a boost in digital means of transactions. At the same time there are a lot
more ramifications for the larger public.
OBJECTIVES
пЃ¬Stop cash funded terrorism.
пЃ¬Reforms:Banking sector needs.
пЃ¬Curb black money.
пЃ¬Move towards cashless economy.
Other than the expected results, few interesting changes has occurred due to this
initiative. Like, barter system is making a comeback in rural India with the
demonetization drive. According to the Wall Street Journal a trader in Orissa gave
a kilo of potatoes and cauliflower in exchange for half a kilo of honey. Another
interesting observation was people selling their old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes on
eBay and OLX. You... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within 7 days of of announcement of demonetization, Paytm has witnessed over 7
million transactions worth Rs 120 crore a day.
DISADVANTAGES
пЃ¬The biggest disadvantage of demonetization is the chaos among public since
everybody wants to get rid of demonetized notes.
пЃ¬Removing the old currency from the economy and printing new ones enough to
replace the old ones is an expensive process, to be funded by the government. If the
benefit derived by demonetization is not enough to put off this cost, it will end up
giving negative results.
пЃ¬Another problem is that majority of times this move is targeted towards black
money but if people have not kept cash as their black money and rotated or used that
money in other asset classes like real estate, gold and so on then there is no guarantee
that demonetization will help in catching corrupt people.
пЃ¬Despite the efforts taken, black money is already back in the economy in the
form of new currencies. So the long term benefits that we are aiming for may not
actually be achieved by this sudden
The Making of a Legend
What does it take to be a legend? How far would one go to be a legend in
something one enjoys? Jordan Burroughs will go the the ends of the earth to

which of course Zeus won. The great event was celebrated by making wrestling the
last event in the Pentathlon. Back in Ancient times greek men wrestled covered in
olive oil and naked. To win one had to throw his opponent or knock him down, but
ancient greece was not the only ones who wrestled. In Mesopotamia Sumerian caves
had drawings in them of wrestling that dated back at least 7,000 years. Over in the
village of Beni Hasan, Egypt historians found wrestling how to drawings in tombs.
In present day wrestling a new up and coming star named Jordan Burroughs is
taking the International Freestyle Circuit by storm. Burroughs is 25 years old and
became the seventh U.S. wrestler to win three Olympic or world titles. Burroughs
joined Bruce Baumgartner, Kevin Jackson, Leroy Kemp, Mark Schultz and John
Smith. Burroughs and Smith are the only two wrestlers in U.S. history to win
back to back world or Olympic titles. Jordan is also hoping to join John as the only as
the only wrestlers to win all six Olympic and world titles in a 6 year

Analysis Of The Jumping Frog
The lowest intellect, like the highest, possesses a skill of some kind and takes a
keen pleasure in testing it, proving it, perfecting it (Mark Twain). The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County was one of Mark Twain s first works and it
helped people start to notice who he was. This short story was about someone
listening to a man telling a story about a gambler and a frog. Although the story
itself sounds a bit weird, that was one of the ways of writing that Twain was best
known for. The writing style that Twain uses in this work, and many others, helped
create his success and makes him a better writer. In this specific short story, the
speaker spoke very seriously and casually which countered the tone that was most
based on the listener being annoyed that they had to hear his story. This aspect of
the story helped contribute more towards Twain s writing style, and his style yet to
come. In 1865 his story about the jumping frog of Calaveras County, which was
published in New York and reprinted in papers around the United States, started to
make him celebrated too. (Stephan Railton) Although The Jumping Frog wasn t
Twain s most popular piece by a long shot, it did very well for him at the time. At
this point in Twain s writing, it was the his first great success which helped make it
as timeless as it is. He later went on to write famous books such as The Adventures
of Tom Sawyerand The Adventures of Huckleberry Finnwhich both shared the humor
that Twain is most
Astrology Signs
The astrology signs go in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo,
Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. You ve probably heard
about fire signs, earth signs, air signs, and water signs. These are the four
elements. Twelve signs divided by four elements equals 3 signs per element. If you
start with Aries as the first fire sign, then just skip to every 4th sign, you ll see that
the fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagitarrius. Taurus is the first earth sign, then Virgo
and Capricorn. Gemini is the first air sign, then Libra and Aquarius. Cancer is the
first water sign, then Scorpio and Pisces.
So what does a fire sign mean? These signs tend to burn hard and fast. They start
strong and then can flame out just as quickly as they began. Do you know a person
with a Aries, Leo or Sagittarius Sun? Then you may notice that these people are a
little more intensely emotional, whether that be in happiness or anger. They may
likely be more honest. And they may likely be more likely to take action quickly
and with no holds barred. These are generalities, of course. Other planets in a person
s birth chart can intensify or mute this fire Sun sign as well. ... Show more content on

Earth is much more slow and grounded. Much more practical and even tempered.
Less likely to have a very wide range of emotions and more likely to be stubborn

a person with a Taurus Sun happened to have other planets in their chart that had lots
of fire say Mars in Leo and Moon in Aries, then you would see a better blending of
emotion and action. If this same Sun in Taurus person also had a Moon in Virgo and
Mars in Capricorn, then you would be much more likely to see this earth energy in

Theme Of Women In A Gun For Sale By Graham Greene
Graham Greene has written many novels in his life and has placed his experiences
within his stories. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out
his views on society. Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and
usually, these literary tropes included the women of his novel. Two of his books A
Gun for Sale and Brighton Rockleave Greene s female counterparts feeling unsatisfied
with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they appear to only
influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s
female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the
relationships, while the men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil.
Greene utilizes the theme of innocenceversus corruption, to develop the
characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun for Sale, as well
as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the
corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism.
Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together
to showcase the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these
words mean? If innocence means those who are free from guilt or sin through being
unacquainted with evil, then none of the characters in Greene s novels would ever be
considered innocent because they all at one point or throughout the entire story are
acquainted with evil. However,
Book Report On Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
In his book Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell explores a variety of
different success stories as case studies. Gladwell begins by explaining the
definition of an outlier. An outlier can also be referred to as something that is
situated away from or classed differently from a main or related body (page 3).
Therefore, this means that outliers can be a person, place, or even an event in time.
Each example that Gladwell gives throughout this book have one thing in common;
that there was some occurrence or event that allowed each one to become that way.
Malcom Gladwell has managed to relate the success of people with other aspects of
their lives; for example, their birthday, birthplace, ... Show more content on

Exceptional success requires an immense amount of practice, a point that Gladwell
backed up by displaying that highly successful people generally spent ten thousand
hours or more practicing. Even if someone is born with some sort of innate talent,
leaving out any financial resources, spare time, and support system that make it
possible to practice for thousands of hours, success may still be unobtainable.
Mozart definitely had innate talent, however he also had been practicing the art of
composing concerts for nine years before he actually produced his first masterpiece.
Gladwell states that IQ scores and success have a rather skeptical relationship, and
notes that in order to become a great professor or to be published in an academic
journal, this will require a certain amount of social aptitude and negotiating skills,
without which a genius will even fail to become successful at
Racism Is Still Alive Today

Racism in Oklahoma Everyone is different. No matter what you look like, where you
came from, or how you grew up. Race does not define a person. Racism issues have
appeared throughout many different generations. In Oklahoma, there are factors of
events proving that racism is still alive today. Racism is any negative thought or
action toward members of a racial minority or any manifestation of racial inequality.
There are different types of racism: Individual racism, Institutional racism, and
Cultural racism. This essay will analyze racism and certain component parts:
causes, effects, prevention. There are various examples of causes coming from
racism. Fraternity members at the University of Oklahoma learned a racist chant
which was caught on camera and posted online. It was not something that was a
part of the tradition. Do I think these young men are racist in their heart? Do I
think they re proud of what they did? No. said Boren. (Bidwell). 25 students have
received discipline from this video coming out. Also kids from school districts
have experienced racist remarks and bullying. Kids are getting bullied for all types
of reasons and racism is one of them. People think that remarks about your cultural or
ethnicity are not a huge problem. Racist slurs can sometimes be taken lightly. Two
stories were shared from students who attended schools in the Oklahoma area.

The Collapse Of Andrew Carnegie
Insert Title later Believe it or not, skyscrapers have only been around since the the
late 1880 s. The main reason for this was because the materials used to build
buildings at the time could not support the weight of a skyscraper. If people
wanted to build taller buildings, they had to use stronger materials that could
withstand the weight of the building and keep it from collapsing. At the time, that
material was steel, but there was a problem; steel was not mass produced at the
time. This made it financially unethical to build with, the price of steel only began
to drop after Andrew Carnegie created his steel business. Andrew Carnegie helped
strengthen the American economy turning it into a world power by learning from
his poverty when he was younger, starting his steel business which provided the
world an important resource for the development of industry, taking advantage of
workers to maximize profit, and devoting his later life to philanthropy. Carnegie
was very poor during his childhood, and this will cause him to try a variety of jobs
that inevitably led to his steel empire. Andrew Carnegie was born November 25,
1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland. His father, William Carnegie, a prosperous
handloom weaver at the time of Andrew s birth, was unable to compete with the
new technology of steam loomers and fell into poverty as Andrew grew older, (UXL

Pennsylvania, and Andrew got a job at a

The Amazing Things That Books Can Do Analysis

Amazing Things That Books Can Do, By Ryan Joiner. This book would allow the
class to have a great discussion about what books can do for them. My class would
discuss when the perfect time to read, where to read, and who to read to. As a
teacher I would point out that it is great to read when a student is feeling down
because books can brighten their day. Books can allow students to increase their
motivation, imagination, and determination. Books can develop students talent or
help them find theirs. I would clarify all the statements I have listed above with my
students, after I read the book to them. After the discussion I would assign my

the page I would open up a class discussion by asking them if they agree or disagree
with the statement. Afterwards we would explore other books or book that fit the
page. If we explored more than one book, my students would read them
independently. Otherwise, I would read the book aloud and then we would

page and would read it two or three times throughout the week. The first and second
reading, the students would answer comprehension question but on the third read
we would speculate on why the characters are making those choices. Also, we
would analyze what would happen if the character did something different. For
older students, it would allow me, as a teacher, to be more flexible. If there was
only one book that fitted with the page then I would do the same process as I did
with the younger students. But if there was multiple books, I could have students

The Affordable Care Act Is Necessary For Successful...
Introduction The Affordable Care Act promotes Medicaid expansion. Medicaid
expansion is needed in North Carolina to insure the disabled and those that live
below the poverty level receive adequate healthcare coverage. The resistance of
North Carolina legislature in the promotion of Medicaid reform has retarded
Medicaid expansion to its uninsured residents. The cooperation of the North
Carolina legislature and its support of the Affordable Care Act is necessary for
successful Medicaid reform. This paper reviews the impact of the Affordable Care
Act s lack of implementation in North Carolina. Background Significance Binker
Sims (2015), reported the main purpose of the Affordable Care Act is to provide
Medicaid coverage for low income and disabled persons. In 2010, the Affordable
Care Act mandated all states to provide coverage to persons earning less than 138
percent of the poverty level. The Supreme Court overturned this ruling in 2012.
Individual states were given the power to decide whether Medicaid would be
expanded. As documented by NCJustice.org (2014), North Carolina has rejected
millions of dollars that could provide medical coverage for more than a half million
uninsured people. The acceptance of federally allocated dollars would greatly help
the working poor. The working poor make too much money to qualify for Medicaid
and not enough to pay for private insurance. Nationally, the federal government is
trying to provide coverage for underprivileged
Swot Analysis Of Federal Express
Federal Express is one of the well known brands and America s well known
companies in the world known as FedEx as it serves millions of customers through
their service. Frederick W. Smith was a undergraduate of Yale University in 1965,
who wrote a paper about a industry which would create shipments of products like
medicine, computer, electronics, and other products that consumers can purchase.
Even though, he didn t receive a good grade on the essay, the idea that he created
was never lost. As Smith, worked in an Aviation firm in 1971 he saw how inefficient
the air freight industry was to get packages. As a result, FedExwas created by Smith
as he called the company Federal to reveal how this company was created for the use
of nationwide customers. Even though more companies, such as DHL, UPS, TNT
have become FedEx s competitors it still has not been successful as FedEx due to the
technological advancements. As time progressed, FedEx continued to increase in size
and in revenue due to the use of technology that helped meet the needs of customers
globally despite the struggle they faced from competitors and different systems that
they were creating.
FedEx s headquarters are located in Memphis, Tennessee because the location of

The movie In Time was Directed and written by Andrew Niccol in 2011. The
movie s main premise is that in the future humans are now engineered to stop aging
at 25 years and given one more year to live. In this universe time has now a double

your death. As a result, society have been divided groups, some live with minimum
wages which puts them every day on the brink of death, but also a small group of
people who get to live forever and live in the highest of luxuries. Which makes it a

African Arts Midterm
Midterm essay Lingyi Liu
After studying Arts of Africa for two weeks, I have learnt a lot of African arts. It is
interesting that most of them are used at funerals to honor the death of ancestors.
People use sculptures, masks, illustration and some other tools to memorize the dead
and even people from different culture have their unique ways to honor it. Death
rituals in Africa are come from the cultural beliefs, they believe that death and life
are continuous. The dead people still alive in a spirit way. Rituals in Africa ensures
the ancestor will not be disturbed and his descendant will be protected. If they fail
to do this, the ghost will remain in the world and cause some problems. The
descendant will lose the asylum from their ancestor. So, it s really important for the
African to honor the dead. According to the images in the lecture, I found the most
common purpose of these arts are wearing in performance and placing in the shrine.
The reason why people used these sculptures and masks is to represent a spirit. Here

Emphysema Breathing
In a person with emphysema, there is a significant loss of intrinsic elastic recoil in
the lung tissue. This loss of elastic recoil occurs as the disease destroys the walls of
the alveoli. Airway resistance is also increased as the lung tissue in general becomes
more flimsy and exerts less mechanical tethering on the surrounding airways. Thus
the lung becomes overly compliant and expands easily. Conversely, a great effort is
required to exhale as the lungs can no longer passively recoil and deflate. Anoticeable
and exhausting muscular effort is required for each exhalation. Thus a person with
emphysema exhales slowly.

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Never Let Me Go is about a thirty one year old woman named Kathy H. Kathy is a
carer for donors and she travels from care center to care center. She talks about her
childhood at Hailsham and her childhood friends, mostly Ruth and Tommy, and the
adventures she experienced. At the end of the book, we learn that Kathy lives in a
world where her schoolmates and her are clones that are made for donating organs
until they die or complete. They accept this fate without questioning it. Never Let
Me Go takes place in England during the later 1990s. The clones spend the first 16
years of their life in Hailsham. They learn everything they need to know like
English, science, music, history and math. However, they never mention
Hailsham s address or what city the school is located in. The school is a hidden
gem and Kathy says Driving around the country now, I still see things that will
remind me of Hailsham. I might pass the corner of a misty field, or see part of a
large house in the distance as I come down the side of a valley, even a particular
arrangement of poplar trees up on a hillside. Then I see it s impossible and I go on
driving, my thoughts drifting on elsewhere. Kathy could never find Hailsham.
There were many majors events in Never Let Me Go. One major event in Never
Let Me Go is when Madam came to visit Hailsham. The children would create
something like a poem, story, or painting and Madame would collect the item and put
into the gallery if it was good enough.

Eliminating the Price Effect of an Index Automatically...
By the attempt to eliminate the price effect from an index fund, the fundamental
index managers change the set up of the index in such a way that it automatically
changes the basic characteristics of the index. As shown in exhibit 10 of the Research
Affiliate case, fundamental indices usually not only deal with a higher turnover ratio
but also with a higher net expense ratio, for implementing the fundamental strategy in
reality seems to go hand in hand with higher costs.
Looking at commonly used multiples in exhibit 11, we see no surprises. While the P
/E ratio for the RAFI index is only slightly smaller compared to the Russell 1000
index, the Price to Book/Cash Flow/Sales ratio is fundamentally lower in all
categories for the RAFI index. More interesting is the fact that the RAFI index is
composed of companies with an on average lower market capitalization as well as a
higher leverage ratio, which might be a hint that the RAFI is also taking on more
risk to produce the excess returns. Even though Research Affiliates uses several
methods to eliminate a bias towards a specific sector/type of company, research
shows that fundamental indices are clearly more exposed to value and small stocks,
which is further illustrated in exhibits 12 14.
Looking at exhibits 11 13 we directly observe RAFI s strong exposure towards
financial institutions. Citigroup and Bank of America alone account for roughly 15%
of the index while Citigroup is not even found within the 10 largest
Becoming An Automotive Automaker
Any time a revolutionary new technology is introduced, a period of plethoric
propagation follows. It was no different during the rise of automobiles in the
embryonic Twentieth Century. Up until October 24th, 1929 (Black Thursday (the
stock Market Crash)), the only thing standing between an engineer and an automaker;
was creativity, talent and drive.
People were essentially popping out of the woodworks trying to make it inside the
(mangled ) metaphoric; automotive winners cabin. At the time the technology was so
avant garde that there were no known pitfalls to circumvent.
Automakers were rewarded by investors with reckless abandonment. The only
requisite necessary for an automotive engineer seeking an investor, was a functioning
product. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main focus was big picture: does it drive? Automakers were racing to race. Just
make a car as fast as possible, and make sure it is faster than our rivals.
The notion of a lemon had not been contemplated, so prospective automakers were
solely interested in getting an automobile on the market. The way they saw it, as
long as they did not have a product to push someone else was stealing their sales.
Moreover, there was little to no product verification in the first moiety of the 1900s.
Our consumer protection was the legal equivalent of no takesies backsies, so if/when
patrons had problems with their product the response was breviloquent at best.
And to be clear, the automakers did not act out of malice, nor is it my intent to
demonize any one or even that particular era of automaking. One cannot condemn
those who genuinely did not know any better.
In the early era of automakers, simply making an automobile was an act of genius.
The acuity of automotive foresight was impossible due to a lack of (eventual)
evidence and objective assurity. Furthermore, this Era led to automaker proliferation;
which in turn accelerated automotive evolution, and expedited progress via profuse
The Namesake Identity Essay
An individual s identity is reflected in many aspects of their character. On of the
aspects which affect a person s identity is culture; culture plays a major role in the
formation of an individual s character. It imposes customs which ultimately manifest
through a person s identity. The clear link between culture and identity suggests that
conflict with one s culture may affect a person s sense of self. Jhumpa Lahiriexplores
this type of conflict in the novel The Namesake, in which Gogol Ganguli is stuck
between two cultures the Bengali traditions of his parents and the American culture
he grows up with. The novel explores Gogol s conflict with both cultures and how it
ultimately impacts the development of his identity.
As identity becomes the core issue, Gogol s name becomes quite significant. As a
child, Gogol is used to the name Gogol so that when his parents ask his good name
Nikhil to be his official name when he starts schooling, he is reluctant to accept the
new name. Lahiri states that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Housing Tenure Research Paper
Tenure describes the legal status of and the rights associated with different forms of
housing ownership and occupancy (Mullins Murie, 2006). There are three categories
of housing tenure, which are home ownership, private rent and social rent. Home
ownership is the households that live in a home they owned. The home ownership
tenure includes home that is owned outright, where the owner has paid off their
mortgageand own their home without qualification, and bought with a mortgage,
where mortgagors have taken out mortgage to help purchase their home that repaid

lender will require the evidence of a household income sufficient to repay the loan,

Wild Land Firefighting Essay
Every year in the U.S there are incidents that occurred dealing with fires in the forest.
This is when wild land firefighting comes in to action. Advancements in firefighting
have improved in the past such as improvement in technology in fighting fires,
equipment being used, and different preventions to take in action to help incidents
from becoming destructive and uncontrollable, and lastly knowing history because
we remember and learn from the experiences of the past. Wild land firefighting is a
rapidly spreading firethat acts very quickly and intensely. Captain Moses Harris
assumes the command of Yellowstone national parks first wild land fire fighters on
August 20, 1886. The cavalry remained for thirty two years in Yellowstone National
Park. The soldiers began fighting the fires throughout Yellowstone national park and
were also the first wild land fire fighters to get paid (1). In1910 the Big Blowup fire
in northeastern Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana destroyed three
million acres of timber and killed over eighty firefighters. In 1911 Congress passed
the Weeks Act, which among alternative things, provided help for state forestry
organizations that participated in cooperative fire protection work with the federal
government. In 1935, Ferdinand Silcox, the Forest Service Chief, introduced the
10AM Policy, that became afresh universal U.S. Forest Service goal to manage a fire
by 10AM the morning following its recognizing. While the amount of forest

Bram Stoker s Dracula
Lords of the darkness, Darkling Dancers, Nosferatu, Vrikolakas. And the list goes on
like this. The vampire concept is thought by the most to be a myth that has crept into
almost every culture. It has influenced many writers to write novels on them and
many directors to shoot films on. Vampiremyths go back way into the times of first
recorded history. Many different legends are known about them varying from the
Chinese belief of the glowing red eyed monsters with green or pink hair to the Greek
Lamia who has the upper body of a woman and the lower body of a winged serpent
and the Japanese belief in the vampire foxes. The most commonly known legend
which is widely used in filming is the blood drinking man who can ... Show more

In the essence we see Bram Stoker s character search for his gothic novel and he
makes the perfect choice: Vlad III, the prince of Wallachia, an area now within the
borders of Romania, the southern part to be specific. Vlad III, known as Vlad the
Impaler, had fought with the Ottoman Turks in the name of the church, who were
expanding into the Balkans. During his fights with the Turks, he lost his throne
several times but each time managing to get back onto it. It is mostly believed that
he had fallen dead in a fight with the Ottoman army, beheaded and his head taken
back to Istanbul, to the Sultan as a proof that the quot;impaler quot; was dead. He
was also known with his atrocities and impalement where the victim was impaled
between the legs with a large, sharpened but not too much stake that was the width
of a man s arm. He especially enjoyed mass impalements where many victims were
impaled at once. As the people to be impaled were hung above the ground, their body
weight would slowly drag them down and the sharpened stake would slowly run into
them, piercing their internal organs. To enjoy this spectacular moments more, he
would have a supper with the visions and the sounds of the dying which would take
from hours to days.
Instead of going on with the novel, I would like to move on to the best Dracula film
that was made until the concept emerged: Francis Ford Coppola s B.
Barometer Rising
Much literature is based on the theme of a Quest, a search for something that seems
ultimately desirable. There are quests for power, quests for identity, quests for self
respect, quests for happiness, quests for understanding and quests for independence.
All of these quests are present in the novel, Barometer Rising. There are four main
characters that experience life quests in this novel. These characters include Colonel
Geoffery Wain, Neil Macrae, Angus Murray, Roddie Wain and Penny Wain.
Throughout the novel these characters all experience different quests with very
different outcomes. The first evident quest arouse in the novel is a quest for power.
This quest is associated with Colonel Geoffrey Wain. Throughout the novel,... Show

beginning of the story, Penny s aunt recognizes him not because she actually knows
him, but by his reputation. That man, that Major Murray everyone knows about.
She describes him as, Angus Murray! That man who used to ruin his practice with
drink wherever he went! Despite his reputation, Angus has had many challenges to
deal with in life, which clearly led to his drinking and failures. One of the main
challenges he has been presented with is an arm injury, which is what prevented him
from doing his work as a doctor. At the beginning of the novel the readers see that
Angus has no desire to change his way of life, and that he has settled with his
unhappiness but inside Angus is searching for reason. After the Halifax explosionwe
see the outcome of Murray s unconscious life quest for happiness. He rises to the
needs of the injured people and even does a very precise surgery on Penny Wain s
eye. Angus overcomes his self doubt and pity and realizes that he has real potential,
his confidence in himself and quest for happiness is fulfilled when realizing he is
capable of helping the people after the explosion. Roddie Wain, Penny s little brother,
presents a small but important quest as well. Roddie undergoes a quest of
understanding. At the beginning of the novel
Seventh Man Guilt
The narrator of the Seventh Man should forgive himself over the failure to save his
friend K. There are multiple explanations to why this is,such as The Seventh Man s
attempt to help K,his guilt and natural fear. Due to these reasons the seventh Man
should not be accounted for something that he shouldn t be associated with in the
first place. One reason is because of the narrator s attempt to save K.When the
narrator and K where at the beach, the narrator suddenly felt an awful feeling that
something terrible was approaching. The narrator felt a massive wave coming and
told K to get away with him and then ran, however K was off in his own world and
wasn t able to hear the narrator so when the narrator turned back and yelled

Also the narrator isn t guilty because of the fact that the Seventh Man is guilty of
what has happened to K moreover the narrator is ashamed that he failed to save K
and wishes he could have done more to prevent his dearest friends death. This form
of guilt could even be considered survivors guilt due to the form of guilt, the person
who died and the situation the guilt occured from. This survivor s guilt is also
different from normal guilt where the person is responsible for their actions.Forms
of survivors guilt can be seen throughout the short story such as in page 141 such
as when the narrator tried to sleep but always had a horrible dream Then, all of a
sudden, someone grabs my right ankle leg...I m being dragged under the surface.I see
K s face there...I swallow water, and my lungs start to fill up also (The dreams)
remained part of my life, though. They would come like debt collectors at the door...I

The, An Idea Thought Of By Steven Harris
Background: DoorGuard, an idea thought of by Steven Harris, which protects the
side of your car from accidental dents that occur in parking lots all across the
world. Harris s idea of a product that helps prevent dents in the side of car doors is a
very simple idea that many individuals would never have thoughtto create, and the
DoorGuard product would seem to have many buyers who are looking to help
protect their new/used cars. The thought of having a giant piece of removable
foam on each side of an individual s car has its benefits, and its disadvantages. The
strong points of DoorGuard would obviously be the face that it protects the side of
an induvial car from unwanted accidental dents that occur when another individual
either parks to close to one, or someone who is reckless. On top of preventing
dents, DoorGuard is easy to place on the side of car doors, and is easy to dismantle
and store away. The protection DoorGuard would bring to one s car comes with
some weaknesses. One weakness that seems to stick out is the fact that
DoorGuard is a giant foam pad that rests on the side of one s car doors. Many
consumers would not like the look of DoorGuard with its big appearance which is
good for advertising, but some people would like a product that is minimal and
blends in with their cars color. If theft is attempted on the DoorGuard, the cable that
goes into the door to keep it from easily getting stolen would tear the panel, thus,
ruining the product for the person
The Pros And Cons Of Social Media
Social media is a huge trend occurring throughout all ages of the population in
2017. In this article, there are a few examples of breaches in HIPAA. There is a
photo of a dentist, dental hygienist and a young girl posing and giving praise for
proper teeth cleaning. The photo was posted on Facebook. This causes an issue
because even though there is nothing wrong with praise, they are giving away
patient identity without consent for the whole world to see. Patient identity such as
name, birthdate and looks should kept private and in this case, it was not. Another
problem also encountered in health care is the concept of the professionals sending
patients friend requests via Facebook. Health care professionals should not have
any contact with their patients outside of the workplace. The right thing to do is
keep personal accounts confidential. Taking pictures while in an office of any health
care professional should not happen. There could be things within the office that
have the identification of other patients that should be confidential. The health care
professionals should also refrain from taking pictures because with Apple products
now a days, every picture/video taken is sent to the iCloud. Things on the iCloud
are not always safe, even if they aren t posted to any social media. If you are a
professional and take a photo but your iCloud is hacked, you can be fined with
breaching patient confidentiality without any control (Emmott, 2017). In 1996,
HIPPA came into play.
Skin We Speak
Abstract
The purpose of this book review is to critically inspect Lisa Delpit and Joanne
Kilgour Dowdy s book The Skin that We Speak: Thoughts on Language and Culture
(2008). The majority of the essays compiled in the book aim to deconstruct the
negative effects of Standard English or right language in the classroom and how that
can affect the identities of the students in that environment. Contributors offered their
anecdotal experiences as well as recommendations for ways in which the approach to
language in curricula can shift to be more inclusive. By making language more
accessible in the classroom, the pathway to learning can be opened.

Lisa Delpit authored the first essay in part two of the book and in it she emphasized
the importance of students being able to identify with the content of a curriculum in
order to succeed within the confines of that curriculum (2008, p. 39). Delpit wrote,
there is little in the curriculum that apprises the students of their intellectual legacy
of the fact that people who look like them created much of the knowledge base of
today s world (2008, p. 41). Delpit identified a major problem in education that
affects both success as reflected in assignment work (paper writing) and success
related to true learning and internalizing of material. Both Delpit and contributor
Judith Baker wrote about the intersection of language and success in the classroom
by giving concrete examples of where curricula are failing and how it can be
addressed (2008, p. 55). Part two of the book is largely made up of essays that
deconstructed the problems in classrooms that relate to students of color and
language as well as what avenues there are to begin combating those
Psalm 23 And 1
The two Psalms that really hit home to me were Psalm 23 and Psalm 1. They both
give me a new understanding about the life us Christians should be living. I can
relate to these Palms the most because I feel like I have find myself in some of these
situations. Psalm 23 and 1 Helped me with my relationship with God, relationship
with others, and help understand who I am. The Lord tells us that he is my shepherd.
This verse tells me that God will take care of me like a shepherd would take care of
his flock. God understand that we are going to have low points in our life, and we
need to pray to the Lord for comfort. If we take a look around, we have received so
many blessing from the Lord. We have found peace in the Lord. God has forgiven us

he got to meet a lot of riders that would push to win, and that s who you want to ride

Life was hard not having any sponsors and winning almost every race you entered.

2.1 What are NoSQL Databases
NoSQL databases are databases designed to run on clusters of computers/servers,
built for the ever increasing data storage needs for websites. Devised as a way of
scaling databases horizontally which is a challenge with traditional relational
databases. Scaling horizontally is the ability to add more computers/servers as
nodes to a database. These clusters work well with write heavy systems and allow
increase storage and processing power limited only by the number of connections
you can have on the network. Defined as No Schema, No SQL data structures mean
they are not limited to the original data structure. Objects and fields etc can be

The European Community was set up by the EEC Treatyin 1957, and the UK joined
the Community in 1973.
On joining the Community, now called the European Union, the UK and its citizens

where the parties to any transaction are themselves both UK subjects. In other words,
in areas where it is applicable, European law supersedes any existing UK law to the

Community law consists primarily of the EC Treaty and any amending

The Council is made up of ministerial representatives of each of the 27 member states
of the Union. Thus, when considering economic matters, the various states will be
represented by their finance ministers or, if the matter relates to agriculture, the
various agricultural ministers will attend. The Council of Ministers is, in essence, the
supreme organ of the EU and, as such, it has the final say in deciding upon
Community legislation. Although it acts on recommendations and proposals made to
it by the Commission, it does have the power to instruct the Commission to undertake
particular investigations and to submit detailed proposals for its consideration.
The European Parliament
The European Parliament is the directly elected European institution and, to that
extent, it can be seen as the body which exercises democratic control over the
operation of the EU. As in national Parliaments, Members are elected to represent
constituencies, the elections being held every five years. Membership is divided
amongst the 27 member states in proportion to the size of their various populations.
The Parliament s general secretariat is based in Luxembourg and although the
Parliament sits in plenary session in Strasbourg for one week in each month, its
detailed and preparatory work is carried out

Frank is a university lecturer and will be teaching Rita what she wants to know about literature and another world outside of her own. Russell has interpreted the character of Rita as a copy of himself. This is because he was also a hairdresser and went to a night school to do his O levels before he became a famous writer. When we first see Frank he is in his office and appears to be looking for a book on the shelf. She has new friends and seems more educated. She has even lost her innocent point of view . Because of that Frank thinks that Rita doesn t need him anymore, as she has achieved everything she has wanted from Frank at the beginning of the play. After the time Rita spends at Summer School, she comes back with a new attitude that is not only seen in the way she dresses but also in her attitude towards Frank. One of the main changes that have occurred in Rita is the way she responds to FranksВґ requesting as regards the books she should read in this term. That is, now that she knows more and as a

The article, Why Do You Think They re Called For Profit Colleges? by Kevin Carey first appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education on July 25, 2010. In this article, Carey discusses the controversy concerning the billions of dollars in federal aid money received by for profit colleges. He introduces Michael Clifford, who, according to fastcompany.com, chairs Significant Federation, a private equity firm that is a principal investor in a half dozen higher education companies. In case, you are not aware, for profit tuition is much higher than that of public institutions, and for profits receive a quarter of all federal aid while only enrolling 10 percent of all students (216). The real problem is that students of the much more expensive for profit institutions tend to borrow a lot more money than the students of public institutions do and are often unable to repay these loans upon graduating and entering the work force. In fact, most graduates of for profit institutions are unable to even get a job with their freshly awarded on line diplomas and therefore default on their federally subsidized student loans due to lack of income. Clifford refutes indications that the excessive amount of student debt is directly related to the cost of education, and therefore, disapproves of the Obama administration s proposal to disallow further federal aid to any student who has exceeded a certain percentage of debt in relation to income. In spite of statistics that predict more than half of his students loans will enter default, he simply does not feel that it is the responsibility of

  • 7. Comparing Gilgamesh And The Old Testament The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Old Testament share several similarities. I found the greatest similarities from Old Testament were found in the book of Genesis. Both texts shared common characters, plots, and themes. Gilgamesh and Genesis contain godly characters that created man. In the book of Genesis, Then the LORD God molded man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, so that man became as living being. (Smith and Goodspeed 2). Likewise, Gilgamesh contained multiple gods, Aruru washed her hands, she pinched off some clay, and threw it into the wilderness. Wittgenstein is claiming that words and signs originating from private language cannot be defined in any meaningful manner, since the words and signs didnt come from common language (the language that has shared meaning among the masses), thus no definitive meaning can be derived and should not be used. This short story was about someone listening to a man telling a story about a gambler and a frog. Although the story itself sounds a bit weird, that was one of the ways of writing that Twain was best known for. The writing style that Twain uses in this work, and many others, helped create his success and makes him a better writer. In this specific short story, the speaker spoke very seriously and casually which countered the tone that was most based on the listener being annoyed that they had to hear his story. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out his views on society. Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and usually, these literary tropes included the women of his novel. Two of his books A Gun for Sale and Brighton Rockleave Greene s female counterparts feeling unsatisfied with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they appear to only influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the relationships, while the men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil. Greene utilizes the theme of innocenceversus corruption, to develop the characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun for Sale, as well as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism. Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together to showcase the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these words mean? • 27. The Collapse Of Andrew Carnegie Insert Title later Believe it or not, skyscrapers have only been around since the the late 1880 s. The main reason for this was because the materials used to build buildings at the time could not support the weight of a skyscraper. If people wanted to build taller buildings, they had to use stronger materials that could withstand the weight of the building and keep it from collapsing. At the time, that material was steel, but there was a problem; steel was not mass produced at the time. This made it financially unethical to build with, the price of steel only began to drop after Andrew Carnegie created his steel business. Andrew Carnegie helped strengthen the American economy turning it into a world power by learning from his poverty when he was younger, starting his steel business which provided the world an important resource for the development of industry, taking advantage of workers to maximize profit, and devoting his later life to philanthropy. Carnegie was very poor during his childhood, and this will cause him to try a variety of jobs that inevitably led to his steel empire. Andrew Carnegie was born November 25, 1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland. His father, William Carnegie, a prosperous handloom weaver at the time of Andrew s birth, was unable to compete with the new technology of steam loomers and fell into poverty as Andrew grew older, (UXL biographies). • 30. The Affordable Care Act Is Necessary For Successful... Introduction The Affordable Care Act promotes Medicaid expansion. Medicaid expansion is needed in North Carolina to insure the disabled and those that live below the poverty level receive adequate healthcare coverage. The resistance of North Carolina legislature in the promotion of Medicaid reform has retarded Medicaid expansion to its uninsured residents. The cooperation of the North Carolina legislature and its support of the Affordable Care Act is necessary for successful Medicaid reform. This paper reviews the impact of the Affordable Care Act s lack of implementation in North Carolina. Background Significance Binker Sims (2015), reported the main purpose of the Affordable Care Act is to provide Medicaid coverage for low income and disabled persons. In 2010, the Affordable Care Act mandated all states to provide coverage to persons earning less than 138 percent of the poverty level. The Supreme Court overturned this ruling in 2012. Individual states were given the power to decide whether Medicaid would be expanded. As documented by NCJustice.org (2014), North Carolina has rejected millions of dollars that could provide medical coverage for more than a half million uninsured people. The acceptance of federally allocated dollars would greatly help the working poor. The working poor make too much money to qualify for Medicaid and not enough to pay for private insurance. Nationally, the federal government is trying to provide coverage for underprivileged

This loss of elastic recoil occurs as the disease destroys the walls of the alveoli. Thus the lung becomes overly compliant and expands easily. Conversely, a great effort is required to exhale as the lungs can no longer passively recoil and deflate. By the attempt to eliminate the price effect from an index fund, the fundamental index managers change the set up of the index in such a way that it automatically changes the basic characteristics of the index. As shown in exhibit 10 of the Research Affiliate case, fundamental indices usually not only deal with a higher turnover ratio but also with a higher net expense ratio, for implementing the fundamental strategy in reality seems to go hand in hand with higher costs. Looking at commonly used multiples in exhibit 11, we see no surprises. While the P /E ratio for the RAFI index is only slightly smaller compared to the Russell 1000 index, the Price to Book/Cash Flow/Sales ratio is fundamentally lower in all categories for the RAFI index. More interesting is the fact that the RAFI index is composed of companies with an on average lower market capitalization as well as a higher leverage ratio, which might be a hint that the RAFI is also taking on more risk to produce the excess returns. Even though Research Affiliates uses several methods to eliminate a bias towards a specific sector/type of company, research shows that fundamental indices are clearly more exposed to value and small stocks, which is further illustrated in exhibits 12 14. Looking at exhibits 11 13 we directly observe RAFI s strong exposure towards financial institutions. Citigroup and Bank of America alone account for roughly 15% of the index while Citigroup is not even found within the 10 largest

The thought of having a giant piece of removable foam on each side of an individual s car has its benefits, and its disadvantages. The strong points of DoorGuard would obviously be the face that it protects the side of an induvial car from unwanted accidental dents that occur when another individual either parks to close to one, or someone who is reckless. On top of preventing dents, DoorGuard is easy to place on the side of car doors, and is easy to dismantle and store away. The protection DoorGuard would bring to one s car comes with some weaknesses. One weakness that seems to stick out is the fact that DoorGuard is a giant foam pad that rests on the side of one s car doors. Many consumers would not like the look of DoorGuard with its big appearance which is good for advertising, but some people would like a product that is minimal and blends in with their cars color. If theft is attempted on the DoorGuard, the cable that goes into the door to keep it from easily getting stolen would tear the panel, thus, ruining the product for the person
  • 48. The Pros And Cons Of Social Media Social media is a huge trend occurring throughout all ages of the population in 2017. In this article, there are a few examples of breaches in HIPAA. There is a photo of a dentist, dental hygienist and a young girl posing and giving praise for proper teeth cleaning. The photo was posted on Facebook. This causes an issue because even though there is nothing wrong with praise, they are giving away patient identity without consent for the whole world to see. Patient identity such as name, birthdate and looks should kept private and in this case, it was not. Another problem also encountered in health care is the concept of the professionals sending patients friend requests via Facebook. Health care professionals should not have any contact with their patients outside of the workplace. The right thing to do is keep personal accounts confidential. Taking pictures while in an office of any health care professional should not happen. There could be things within the office that have the identification of other patients that should be confidential. The health care professionals should also refrain from taking pictures because with Apple products now a days, every picture/video taken is sent to the iCloud. Things on the iCloud are not always safe, even if they aren t posted to any social media. If you are a professional and take a photo but your iCloud is hacked, you can be fined with breaching patient confidentiality without any control (Emmott, 2017). In 1996, HIPPA came into play.
  • 49. Skin We Speak Abstract The purpose of this book review is to critically inspect Lisa Delpit and Joanne Kilgour Dowdy s book The Skin that We Speak: Thoughts on Language and Culture (2008). The majority of the essays compiled in the book aim to deconstruct the negative effects of Standard English or right language in the classroom and how that can affect the identities of the students in that environment. Contributors offered their anecdotal experiences as well as recommendations for ways in which the approach to language in curricula can shift to be more inclusive. By making language more accessible in the classroom, the pathway to learning can be opened. Keywords: language, Ebonics, identity, Standard English, curriculum Introduction Lisa Delpit and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lisa Delpit authored the first essay in part two of the book and in it she emphasized the importance of students being able to identify with the content of a curriculum in order to succeed within the confines of that curriculum (2008, p. 39). Delpit wrote, there is little in the curriculum that apprises the students of their intellectual legacy of the fact that people who look like them created much of the knowledge base of today s world (2008, p. 41). Delpit identified a major problem in education that affects both success as reflected in assignment work (paper writing) and success related to true learning and internalizing of material. Both Delpit and contributor Judith Baker wrote about the intersection of language and success in the classroom by giving concrete examples of where curricula are failing and how it can be addressed (2008, p. 55). Part two of the book is largely made up of essays that deconstructed the problems in classrooms that relate to students of color and language as well as what avenues there are to begin combating those

Devised as a way of scaling databases horizontally which is a challenge with traditional relational databases. Scaling horizontally is the ability to add more computers/servers as nodes to a database. These clusters work well with write heavy systems and allow increase storage and processing power limited only by the number of connections you can have on the network. Defined as No Schema, No SQL data structures mean they are not limited to the original data structure. Objects and fields etc can be implemented at

On joining the Community, now called the European Union, the UK and its citizens became subject to EC law. This subjection to European law remains the case, even where the parties to any transaction are themselves both UK subjects. In other words, in areas where it is applicable, European law supersedes any existing UK law to the contrary. Community law consists primarily of the EC Treaty and any amending legisla¬tion such as the Single European Act to which the UK acceded in 1986, the Maastricht Treaty 1992 and the Treaty of Nice 2001. The Council is made up of ministerial representatives of each of the 27 member states of the Union. Thus, when considering economic matters, the various states will be represented by their finance ministers or, if the matter relates to agriculture, the various agricultural ministers will attend. The Council of Ministers is, in essence, the supreme organ of the EU and, as such, it has the final say in deciding upon Community legislation. Although it acts on recommendations and proposals made to it by the Commission, it does have the power to instruct the Commission to undertake particular investigations and to submit detailed proposals for its consideration. The European Parliament The European Parliament is the directly elected European institution and, to that extent, it can be seen as the body which exercises democratic control over the operation of the EU. As in national Parliaments, Members are elected to represent constituencies, the elections being held every five years. Membership is divided amongst the 27 member states in proportion to the size of their various populations. The Parliament s general secretariat is based in Luxembourg and although the Parliament sits in plenary session in Strasbourg for one week in each month, its detailed and preparatory work is carried out
