SEO (search engine optimization) involves optimizing a website to increase its visibility in search engine results. It has two major components: on-page optimization of elements like keywords, images, and code; and off-page optimization through links from other authoritative sites. SEO is important for businesses because most potential customers now use the internet and search engines to find products and services. While SEO takes time and money to see results, it is necessary to reach customers online through white hat SEO practices rather than risky black hat techniques.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the quality and quantity of website traffic to a website or a web page from search engines.[1][2] SEO targets unpaid traffic (known as "natural" or "organic" results) rather than direct traffic or paid traffic. Unpaid traffic may originate from different kinds of searches, including image search, video search, academic search,[3] news search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, the computer-programmed algorithms that dictate search engine behavior, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines, and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. SEO is performed because a website will receive more visitors from a search engine when websites rank higher on the search engine results page (SERP). These visitors can then potentially be converted into customers.[4]

History
Webmasters and content providers began optimizing websites for search engines in the mid-1990s, as the first search engines were cataloging the early Web. Initially, all webmasters only needed to submit the address of a page, or URL, to the various engines, which would send a web crawler to crawl that page, extract links to other pages from it, and return information found on the page to be indexed.[5] The process involves a search engine spider downloading a page and storing it on the search engine's own server. A second program, known as an indexer,.......

My presentation for Go Negosyo's talk streamed on Facebook. This is all about the shift to digital from pre-pandemic period to where we are today with COVID-19. Ultimately, I spell out how we can win in business and help the economy in spite of the challenges.
This leadership seminar was delivered for Accenture in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) for their Top ACT event. It was the first time they were doing an event such as this for their newly launched mentorship program so delivering the Agile Leadership talk for them was a very big deal for me.
I mixed a little bit of tech geekiness in the deck so the sub-title is 'Decoding Leadership in Today's World'. I also tackled why leadership is important and why it's difficult at the same time.
I also noted that leadership is more difficult nowadays because influencing people has become more elusive. Technology has increased our awareness and so it has also increased our skepticism. We don't put our faith in someone or something as easily as before.
Influence is earned. Which means leadership is earned. And how you earn leadership stems from who you are and how authoritative you are in what you do and say.
Earning influence requires a ton of hard work, intentional practice, research and diplomacy. These things do not come often to a lot of people. There are a few gems of an individual that has these and I implore people to work towards having these characteristics as it will serve them in becoming the best leaders they can be.
I also talk about passion and how it is grossly misunderstood by the world at large. It does take passion to be a leader but it is the difficult side of passion that enables this. The side that takes a lot of sacrifice and (I daresay) martyrdom.
Life is not about work and pay. Rather, it is about sharing your faith to others. Give what you have freely to others. How can you share and give to others if they don't want what you have?
Because they don't want to be like you?
The Bible says in Titus 2:7 "And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching."
You have to be someone who matters to people. That takes authority which turns to influence.
Leadership is impossible without the willingness to suffer for something you truly believe in. The good news is leadership can be agile!
Leadership is not a long, hard development that will launch after everything has been "quality-assured."
You learn, you practice - and yes you might faith sometimes and experience 'bugs' along the way, but the important thing is to 'just keep shipping.'
This talk was also delivered to Fluor Philippines, in Alabang. They are a Fortune 500 company with more than 56,000 employees worldwide. They also have offices in Manila and Cebu with a combined headcount of almost 3,000 employees. They got me to talk about leadership for their Mentoring program. It was a very exciting time for them and I, in turn, was thrilled for the opportunity to speak about leadership in their event.

Hello I’m Sean Si I’ll be your speaker for today for Why internet visibility is businesssuccessA little intro about myselfI’m a blogger, a copywriter, an SEO and internet marketing specialist – all in my own right. I never enrolled in writing, never took writing classes, never enrolled in internet marketing nor marketing classes per se, never enrolled in an SEO class or attended an SEO seminar – Those are my credentials. so please don’t expect much. Haha! (I’m glad to see that you guys are eager to learn about this – had I had the chance to have something like this when I was starting out, I’d take it). So that’s me
I was told that myaudience here today are composed of small to medium business enterprise owners so I won’t be taking much of your timeWe use the term ‘visibility’ for your being ‘searchable’ on the internet. If you’re invisible means I cannot see you. The more visible you are, the more I see you. We use that term to gauge your ‘searchability’ Are you searchable? For today I’ll be talking about three things:123
Who here has ever used Google?Google, as you all know, is a search engine. It’s used to help people find what they’re looking for in the internet.
SEO is an acronym for search engine optimization. It is a practice for optimizing your website in the internet’s number one activity which is, guess what, search. The visibility of your website is vital. Who here has a website? Okay. What is the purpose of having a website? For people to look at and see, right? It’s to inform people. Telling them ‘hey, here’s my website. Here’s what I’m all about.’If your website doesn’t have visitors, no matter how perfectly made it is, no matter how excellently designed it is, it is next to useless.Who here does marketing for his or her business? All businesses need marketing yes or no? SEO is just part of the big, big world of internet marketing. You’re trying to put your brand or company name out there for the whole internet world to see and recognize.
Every day there are 5,000 searches happening every second. That’s the simple fact. Tick, 5,000 searches happen. Tick, another 5,000. Tick, and another… And it goes on and on.Odesk – SEO is the recent most sought job in the internet. Can you imagine the magnitude that SEO can bring your website? Every second hauls in 5,000 searches. And those searches aren’t the same as flittering in Facebook. How man people here have Facebook by the way? In facebook, you just flitter about, play games update your status, look at your friends, etc. You’re not really looking for something specific. The people who search are looking for something. They are on focus mode. And if they find what they’re looking for in you – in your website and in your business, then there’s a chance for them to convert to a customer. Search is powerful. Therefore each and every website needs SEO. No visibility = no use.
There are two major SEO FactorsOn pageAndOff pageOn page is everything you can do and fix on your websiteOff page is everything you can do that is out of the bounds of your website
Of course we need to know your company. What do you sell? Is it a product? What kind of product? A service perhaps? Or maybe an idea? Then we do keyword research. We try to look for the search trends. What do people type in to look for what you’re selling? That’s keyword research. It’s a mind game. You need to think like a customer. Like an average person looking for something over the net. Then we move over to keyword density. Keyword density is the percentage of your target keywords in the body of your content. For example…Won’t be going over all of this since it’s too long and some of it might get technical…
Next we have off-page optimization. Off page optimization factors has everything to do with SEO factors that you cannot do in your own website. These factors are mostly about links such as…Explain about these
What do you think has SEO have to do with your business? Have any idea? I’m sure you do after I explained to you what SEO is all about
Either a product, service, idea, or what have you…And these customers are your customers because they are looking for something from you. Something they want or need. Businesses exist because there is a DEMAND. Without that demand, you are next to useless – or you create that demand. And that demand gets into people. And once it turns on the consumer in them, they begin, what? Yeah you got it right – Searching.Today that’s how big the ratio of people using the internet is. And if you’re a businessman, right there and then you get an idea of how powerful your business could become when you tap into that market.
You need to identify your target market. I’m sure most, if not all of you have already identified their target markets, yeah? Who here has websites? Are your websites built for that customer? Does it cater to them? Do they go to your website? You need to help your customer think about your brand and be loyal to you. It doesn’t come naturally. It comes with the quality of what you have to offer them. If they see that you have a website, they will remember you. If they can transact through your website then that simply means more income for your business. You need to think like a customer. Are there potential market in the internet for your business? 1 out of 13 people in our world today uses Facebook. And it has penetrated even television. Internet marketing has beaten the ‘old school’ way of publications and soon, I know it will beat television advertising. Because the internet is fast and search is focused.
What’s this logo?Internet Explorer. Who uses IE here in this room?
Howbout Firefox?
Chrome anyone? So almost all of us here use the internet. I don’t know what for but I assume that if you use the internet, you’ve used search. Because search is what makes the internet. So here in this room alone, you already have an idea more or less of how big a part of our lives the internet is. It is almost a second nature to us.
So of course you can get it from me. Haha! But there are also other companies that offer their SEO services. BUT you have to be careful
White hat SEO is all about brand building and online reputation managementIt does everything organically and works hand in hand with Google and other SEO tools and means to get your website to first page.Black hat SEOs on the other hand have tools and processes that can get your site up to first page quick but their means violate the terms of agreement with Google and other websites they work with. If found out, they can get penalized or even banned. One of my clients tried to do SEO for his website. The website he hired me to work on. We were on 3rd page when I started working on his site – fixing the on-site factors. When he did something that was black hat in Google’s eyes – but he wasn’t aware of it of course. That’s why it’s pretty dangerous to play with SEO. We got penalized and now we’re nowhere to be found on Google’s rankings for those keywords.Grey hat SEO are black hat practitioners who try to stay on the line. They try their best not to be found out so they only choose the black hat method that they implement.
Companies that use black hat methods are companies that don’t care about your brand. Because if they do get caught then your company and your brand suffers. And during their black hat processes, they’ll be using your company’s name and your brand will suffer for it.Who here when they search at Google, they only look at the first page? The fact is, 60% of all people only look at the first page results. Most Companies that are web development or system development and just have an SEO team don’t make SEO their priority. Therefore their SEO team are IT people. And IT has almost nothing to do with SEO. It’s a whole different thing.
SEO is a time consuming process. My contracts are 6 months minimum contracts. Why? Google refreshes their page rank system every 6 months. There is no definite time on which you will be sure of your ranking. They don’t understand that SEO depends on Google and how good your site looks like on Google’s eyes.
In fact it is expensive. Why? It’s a specialization. In SEO, you have to play with words and get in the minds of your customers. Good SEO specialists can think as other people. They can think as your customers and think how your company will benefit from that.My company is an internet marketing company which specializes on SEO. Our practices are all white hat methods…We take care of our clients, their brand, their online reputation and marketing… We take ownershipSo we only have room for a handful of clients because taking on a lot of clients would be difficult If we want to give out the best quality SEO service there is. So our prices are also quality prices.
If you ask me what I think about SEO?
It’s the next big thingSo you better be ahead of the game. If you want to know more about it, you can visit my SEO blog
So that’s it for my presentation. Hope you liked it! Now Let’s open the floor up for Q and A
