Why Abortion Should Be Legal Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of whether abortion should be legal is a challenging task that
requires careful consideration of various perspectives, ethical principles, and legal frameworks.
The subject is highly sensitive, as it involves complex moral, social, and political issues that elicit
strong opinions from different individuals and groups. Crafting a well-balanced essay requires
thorough research, the ability to present arguments coherently, and a deep understanding of the
historical and cultural contexts surrounding the abortion debate.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the diverse range of viewpoints on this topic. Advocates
for abortion rights emphasize a woman's autonomy and reproductive rights, while opponents
often emphasize the sanctity of life and moral concerns. Striking a balance between these
perspectives, addressing counterarguments, and presenting evidence to support one's stance is
crucial for a comprehensive and persuasive essay.
Moreover, legal considerations add another layer of complexity to the discussion. Different
countries and regions have varying laws and regulations regarding abortion, and these legal
nuances must be explored and analyzed. A well-researched essay should take into account the
evolving nature of abortion laws, recent legal developments, and their implications for women's
rights and healthcare.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of whether abortion should be legal demands a
nuanced and well-informed approach. It requires the ability to engage with a multitude of
perspectives, analyze complex ethical and legal issues, and present a cohesive argument.
Successfully addressing these challenges can result in a thought-provoking and informative essay
that contributes meaningfully to the ongoing discourse surrounding this contentious issue.

King Claudius Relationship Essay
When a person insists on taking control over certain situations, it often causes
complexities within their surrounding environment, since governing over someone s
life could arouse conflict. In Act 1 of William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, there are
plenty of interactions between certain characters who persist their authority over
others that consequently result into strain relationships between the characters.
Claudius, the newly crown king of Denmark after his brother s death, would
stubbornly push forward his own opinions and plans over his mourning nephew,
Prince Hamlet, who develop resentment due to the sudden events. Polonius, the Lord
Chamberlain of Claudius s court, as well, would demand obedience from his
daughter, Ophelia, insisting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After being questioned by his mother, Queen Gertrude, for his downcast behavior,
Hamlet tried to articulate his own woes; a feeling that he is unable to display
properly. King Claudius, however, instead of trying to understand his nephew s
distress insisted Hamlet to Throw to earth this unprevailing woe and think of us as
of a father; for let the world take note, you are the most immediate to our throne,
and with no less nobility of love that that which dearest father bears his son do I
impart toward you (Shakespeare 245). Uncaringly disregarding his nephew s
mourning for his father, King Claudius criticized Hamlet on his moping, insisting
that his actions were weak and unfit for someone who s going to inherit the throne.
He wants Hamlet to retire from his own feelings and move on forward to the
present while instructing Hamlet to consider him as his new father and take
account that he s only doing this out of love. King Claudius is using a force of
control over Hamlet s life, failing to take account of his nephew s opinion, only for
the benefit of himself since now he is in the position as king and as a father. He
wants to make sure Hamlet is abiding to his

Fried Green Tomatoes Film Themes
Universal Studio s Fried Green Tomatoes was welcomed to the big screen on
December 27, 1991. This comedy and drama was directed by Jon Avnet, who made
quite the impact in the business of Hollywood. This New York native of Brooklyn
began his filmmaking career after receiving a Directing Fellowship at the American
FilmInstitute. His greatest success was found as a Producer. However, after
producing a number of different films, such as 1983 s Risky Business , it was
Fried Green Tomatoes that allowed him to return to the director s chair. This
heartwarming work of cinema is known for its remarkable way of telling personal

The KKK is very prevalent in this film, as they are presented as threats to the bond
that the town has found together. It expresses great evil as characters like Frank
Bennett, ex husband to Ruth, stop at nothing to harm everyone he comes in
contact with. While his main goal is to take back what he believes to be his, Ruth
s son, he aims to complete this while on mission with the KKK. He harms many of
Ruth s friends, who are black, to get to the child. He greatly represents the evil
behind racism. On the other side is Idgie, who represents equality. She not only
supports African Americans, but she also works and lives with them. She has
great love for them along with Ruth. Her hate and desire to murder Frank greatly
reveals her opposition towards him and racism. In fact, after Frank was killed, she
was accused of the murder. However, we see later in the end that the film depicts
that love and unity triumphs the evil of racism within the reality that Ruth s friend,
Sipcey, is really the one who successfully murders Frank with only a frying pan.
Many symbols within the film speak for things much greater than how they actually
appear. One of which obviously are the fried green tomatoes. This vegetable dish
serves as symbol between friends in this film. While Ninny tells the story of the
tomatoes that Idgie and Ruth made together, Evelyn ends up making the exact recipe
for Ninny later towards the end, almost solidifying their friendship. Here we see the
tomatoes as a shared connection and taste between two women, across two different

Advantages Of Value Creation
1.Define value creation and the components that can be used to determine value
creation per unit. How is value creation related to competitive advantage?
The Value that the company can fix on a product, based on the customer expectation
on the product. i.e.
As the customer has some fixed value on the product based on the market value
comparing with other products in the market.
As the customers has good value of the product, the company has more pricing values.
As the company can maintain the best quality and service to customer, so the

Therefore, the value chain depends on each and every department of the company to
produce the best out product to the market.
To obtain the best output the company has to know their efficiency of the input
resources available to produce at lower cost, so the efficiency of the company plays
an important role in an organization value chain.
3.What building blocks can an organization use to sustain competitive advantage?
To maintain the sustain competitive advantage an organization must have the
following characteristics:
Efficiency: To get the best output of the product the company has to maintain the
efficient inputs such as production, man power, investment, management, and IT
infrastructure.
Quality: As the output product has to maintain the superior quality and best customer
service of the product than the rivals, the output product must obtain from the
company must have best market value than other company products
Innovation: The organization has to maintain continues research and development on
the products of the company to obtain the best output.
Customer responsive: The organization has to provide best customer service to
customers, to gain best market
A Scientific Management, Taylorism, And Management
F.W Taylor introduced a scientific management, Taylorism, in the early 20th century
to solve the problem of inefficiency. The aim of Taylorism is to maixmise
productivity and minimise waste of resources using specialisation of labour. There
are three main components of Taylorism and it will be discussed in detail in the later
paragraphs.
Firstly, according to Rose, M. (1978), Taylor believes that the root of inefficiency
is the slacking and soldiering of workers. And irrational and incompetent of
managers. He further explained the idea of inefficacy by stating managers are
incompetent is because of the growth in scale and technical complexity of industry .
In order to dealt with the slackness of worker, the worker should be closely control
and supervise by inspector. This ensures that no one will shirk during work and the
chance of worker making mistakes are minimized. Hence worker will produce the
maximum effort which leads to increase in productivity. Taylorism also suggested the
use of hierarchy organization structure which means separating the decision maker,
usually the managers and the people who receive orders from the managers and
implement it. This is because he believes that people with no management skills will
not be able to make a right decision and hence may leads to a waste of resources.
Besides supervision, Taylor asserted that managers should apply their professional
knowledge on managing their worker and plan the work. For example, calculating the

Anaerobic Respiration In Sports Drinks
Sports drinks are used to rehydrate athletes during and after exercise. However, the
efficiency of these electrolyte drinks has been questioned.
During respiration glucose from food is added to oxygen to form ATP,C02, and
H20. During exercise, glucose and oxygen are used at a much faster rate due to
increased muscle contractions. There are two types of respiration; aerobic and
anaerobic. During aerobic respiration, glucose is added to oxygen to produce
CO2,H20, and 38 ATP molecules. However, during high intensity exercise, the
oxygen supply is less than the demand. Because of this, anaerobic respiration takes
over. This type of respiration can occur without oxygen, however ,it only produces 2
ATP molecules in comparison to 38. In addition... Show more content on

Before exercise, the cell and its surroundings are in an isotonic state. This means that
there is the same amount of water and molecules on both sides of the membrane.
During exercise, water is lost at a faster rate through perspiration. Therefore, the cell
goes into a hypotonic state, which means that the water rushes into the cell via
osmosis; the movement of water from an area of high to low concentration. The
majority of sports drinks are isotonic. Some scientists argue that the isotonic state of
sports drinks renders them ineffective in regards to cellular hydration. It has been
argued that because water isn t entering the cell during an isotonic state, performance
is impaired due to improper cellular hydration. It should be noted that sports drink
consumption after exercise is detrimental. After exercise, glucose demand slows
down. When the supply of glucose from sports drinks is greater than the demand,it is
eventually converted to fat via lipogenesis. In addition to the negative effects of
sports drinks, it is also important to take into consideration, the fact that glucose
/electrolyte requirements and sport drink ingredients will vary. Therefore, while one
sports drink could improve performance for one person, it could be ineffective for
someone else. Also, sport drinks are likely innefective for aerobic (cardio based)

I respect others, myself, and my organizations I am a part of. My friends would
most likely say that I am a very kind hearted person and would give the shirt my

sadness, but my heart and positive attitude give others someone to look up too. I find
passion in helping those who have struggled with eating disorders and a strong

If you were mentally challenged and could not perform daily tasks like everybody
else, would you want to be shamed and belittled to words such as crazy or retarded ?
This was the situation for Lennie Small in the novel Of Mice and Men, written by
John Steinbeck. In the novel, Lennie works on a farm with his friend, George.
George and other characters in the book trivialize and dismiss Lennie as crazy,
instead of what he really was; mentally disabled with cases such as Autism, Asperger

characteristics of autism. Autism is defined as a mental condition, present from early

Of Mice and Men was published in 1937. At this time, very little was known about
mental illnesses such as Autism. An even less amount of people knew about it. This
makes it likely that, since people were not aware of these mental conditions, people
established Lennie as crazy because they did not understand his ways. Ever since
then, this word has continued to define Lennie; despite our growing knowledge of the
mentally challenged. It is not uncommon for people to refer to a person as what they
were originally seen as, regardless of new information. Unfortunately, this truth is
present in Lennie s fictional
Present Wireless Scenario Consists Of Homogeneous
Network...
Present wireless scenario consists of homogeneous network and heterogeneous
networks. In homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power
level, antenna pattern, receiver noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But
this type of network has disadvantage of coverage hole. In heterogeneous network
the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This arrangement
increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network.
Whereas small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage
hole and to provide mobility to the users. Not only this relays can be used to
provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is not possible or are
expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits,
current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS
achieves near optimal performance. Researchers are now moving towards more
advanced heterogeneous network topology which will bring the network more
closely to the mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49]. HetNets will
significantly improve the spectral efficiency per unit area by utilizing a diverse set of
BSs. 1.4Elements of Heterogeneous Network Heterogeneous deployment need to use
innovative cell association and inter celling interference coordination techniques in
order to realize the promised capacity and coverage gains. A typical heterogeneous

Summary Of Rice Paddies And Math
I have chosen to discuss a chapter titled Rice Paddies and Math, from Outliers. I
will also be discussing the articles In Praise of Chain Stores and How it Feels to Be
Colored Me from The Presence of Others. Some of my favorite assignments were
ones that involved reading chapters from Outliers by Malcom Gladwell. This book
always took my preconceived notions and tore them down piece by piece. I
particularly enjoyed Rice Paddies and Math because of the way it tied math
capabilities to culture. It is not a connection I would have made on my own but it is
one that makes a lot of sense to me now. First, Gladwell points out that Asian kids
are able to learn how to count faster than their Western counterparts because their
number names are very brief (228). The short number names allows them to
memorize more digits. The number naming system in Asian languages are also more
logical. For example, Eleven is ten one. Twelve is ten two. Twenty four is... Show

The reason I chose this article is because I enjoyed author Zora Hurston s positive
attitude. Hurston faced prejudice for being a person of color but she did not allow
her circumstances to destroy her spirit. It is easy for anyone to become resentful
when life is unfair, but it takes courage to keep a positive outlook. Hurston s
response to feeling discriminated against was How can they deny themselves the
pleasure of my company? It s beyond me (419). That response is perfect because the
people with blind prejudice are the ones missing out on getting to know a person.
Judging anyone by anything other than their character is absurd. This topic seems
particularly relevant given the current racial tension we are seeing throughout the
country. While we cannot control people s hate, we can control how we react to it.
With this attitude, I think Hurston sets a good example. An attitude we could all have

Civil War Reenactment Analysis
Today we are in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, enjoying this incredible Civil War
reenactment which was recommended by many hobbyists to the city governor.
They do this once every year In commemoration of various of their respected
heroes and ancestors. Majority of the people here present are elders, for they have a
closer relation to this war. Right now, the people here in the cabin are relatives to the
people role playing as soldiers. Durring half time of the reenactment, each team goes
to separate cabins and have dinner with their family. The people are quite committed
to this reenactment so they dress accordingly to the time period and they also speak
as they would in such days. That being said, yes they also have the meals they would

moving away Essay
Moving Away
Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen year
old teenagers life. It s hard to get up and go eight hundred miles away from
everyone you know and everything you grew up around. I had this happen to me
about three years ago and it is the largest change I have ever had to adjust to in my
life. It wasn t the changes around me that I was bothered by; it was that I did not
know one living soul for hundreds of miles and all I wanted was a friend.
Two days into the summer after sophomore year at Governor Mifflin High School in
the little town of Shillington Pennsylvania I would find out the worse news that a ...

The hardest part for me was having to say goodbye to all my friends I knew since I
was little, they would stop by the
House, start talking to me and all I could do is cry. I knew what I was leaving behind
was something irreplaceable and almost impossible to come by again.
Once my family and I arrived at our new house I was still very saddened because of
the move and had trouble not getting mad at my parents. Summer went bye like it
wasn t even there and by the time school started I was very depressed. The new
school I was going to was Naperville North High School which was about ten times
the size of my old school in Pennsylvania in size and in the number of students. In
my school in Pennsylvania there were about twelve students in each class, here the
number runs around thirty two. The school building was so big I had a lot of
trouble getting to class on time let alone finding them in the building. The school
wasn t what I was bothered by the most because it was the fact that I didn t have
any social life and I was a social person. There were a lot of different groups of people
at my new high school, it was tough for me to fit in and meet new people. Everyone
just knew me as the new kid and didn t even bother to find out what my real name

Mechanisms of Axon Guidance
Axons are sensitive and their respond depend on the local environment. When the
tectum is removed, retinal axons grow toward the missing tissue, demonstrating that
optic axons utilize these neighbourhood signals as opposed to a long run diffusible
attractant from the tectum as they grow along the optic tract (Taylor, 1990). In the
event of a small piece of the optic tract neuroepithelium is turned 90В° preceding the
axons enter it, then they become misoriented when they enter the pivoted transplant
(Harris, 1989) and correct their course of growth once they exit. These results confirm
that the neuroepithelium contains local information to which growing axons respond
and that they are not simply following gradients of attractants released by their targets
(Sanes et al., 2012). Growth conefilopodia are long, motile, and covered with
receptors, also have a very high surface to volume ratio, which can help convert
membrane signals into large changes in intracellular messengers such as calcium.
Filopodia can show localized transient elevations of intracellular calcium and these
transients reduce filopodial motility (Sanes et al., 2012). Calcium transients can be
directly artificially activated in growth cone filopodia by loading neurons with a
calcium caging agent that releases calcium upon stimulation with a pulse of light
(Gomez et al., 2001). Experiments in which calcium is uncaged on one side of a
growth cone generally cause the growth cone to turn toward the side that has
Environmental Sociology And The Environmental Justice...
Environmental sociology began to emerge in conjunction with the environmental
justice movement. Environmental sociology can be defined as the study of how
human societies interact with their environment. One important individual, Dr.
Robert Bullard, acted as a key person throughout the environmental justice
movement. He served as a technical advisor on civil right lawsuits and is now a
professor at Texas Southern University. Because of his research dedicated to
environmental issues pertaining the African American community, he is known as
the father of environmental justice. Under the umbrella of environmental sociology it
discusses concepts such as environmental justice and environmental inequalities.

This can be shown in areas that are considered fenceline communities. These are
communities that are located directly in the midst of toxic pollution. Residents who
live in these communities often accept their conditions of their surroundings and
wait for disasters to happen. These disasters include chemical spills or toxic
contamination that can demolish their communities at some point. These
individuals are also put at a higher risk for possible terrorist attacks. Moreover,
residents who live nearby also suffer by having their wealth stolen through lowered
property values. To show example, in 1992 the National Law Journal found
discrepancies in the way the Environmental Protection Agency enforced its
Superfund laws (Bullard Wright 2012). In the same year Michigan s Department of
Environmental Quality signed off on permits allowing Genesee Power Station to
build an eighty million dollar incinerator for construction use. This incinerator was
built beside a predominately black low income neighborhood (Burke 2017). The
residents were forced to be exposed to particulate matter, carbon monoxide, lead,
and acidic gases. Being within walking distance from a chemical site would
eventually begin to affect their quality of life and health (National Research
Council). If disasters are to take place they are often blamed on natural occurrences.

Economic Industry Of Los Angeles And Mexicans Workers
Economic Industry of Los Angeles and Mexicans Workers
To begin, In Latino Metropolis, Victor Valle and Rodolfo Torres suggest that the
Latino population is a vital group to the political economy of Los Angeles. The Los
Angeles economy was constructed through the manual labor of largely Latino
immigrants, which the city today still heavily depends on (Valle and Torres, 2000,
15 16). In their chapter, Economic Geography of Latino Los Angeles, Valle and
Torres argue that Latino immigrants working in the labor workforce in the Southeast

For instances, in 1946 various Latinos and African Americans experienced tough
conditions working in a steel company named Bethlehem Steel. Both Latinos and
African Americans were trapped in the dirtiest, most dangerous and lowest paying
positions. For example, many were either placed in the pits of the furnace, bolt
shop, or wire mill. These jobs were lower paying and offered less or no incentive pay.
Jobs located near the furnace were very dirty, dangerous, and not desired by Anglo
workers. So, there was a sort of work discrimination towards minority workers

My father has worked in steel mill company in Vernon and can often relate to this

Comparing Merchant’sThe Death of Nature and

Comparing Merchant sThe Death of Nature and Thomas Man and the Natural World
The works of Carolyn Merchant and Keith Thomas pertain to the same subject matter
and even to the same time period. Nevertheless, in comparing their interpretations of
the evidence and the presentation of their arguments concerning the history of
mankind s relationship with nature in Tudor and Stuart England through the
Scientific and Industrial Revolutions, we find that they are quite different. Merchant
presents us with a rather one sided, retrospective attack on science as the root of all
environmental evil, while Thomas offers a relatively neutral, prospective look at how
the people of this time reacted to the changing views of nature and what, exactly, ...

She assimilates Bacon s ideas about science and nature into her argument saying, The
new man of science must not think that the inquisition of nature is in any part
interdicted or forbidden. Nature must be bound into service and made a slave, put in
constraint and molded by the mechanical arts (169).
This doctrine of nature as an inert, unfeeling machine that Bacon and his
contemporaries advocate so adamantly seems to have changed forever the belief in
organicism, or, that all living beings are an equal part of nature. The natural
magician [the organicist] saw himself as operating within the organic order of nature
he was a manipulator of parts within that system, bringing down the heavenly
powers to the earthly shrine (169). In Merchant s opinion, the abandonment of this
organic view of nature in favor of Bacon s mechanical view led to the death of the
world soul and the removal of nature s spirits which helped to support increasing
environmental destruction by removing any scruples that might be associated with
the view that nature was a living organism (227). With this throwing off of the moral
yoke, Bacon and his fellow man were free to do with nature what they would.
Keith Thomas, however, has a very different opinion of science and the role it played
in the natural world in the early modern period. The concept of change is integral to
his book, Man and the Natural World. While Merchant believes that science was the

The Sound And The Fury Essay Outline
In William Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury, the Compson family is the model for
the perfect dysfunctional family. The mother Caroline is a hypochondriac, and the
father Jason an alcoholic. Quentin is neurotic; Caddy, promiscuous; Jason, cynical;
and Benjy, mentally challenged. Quentin s neurosis is particularly tragic, as he
ultimately decides to end his life by drowning himself in a river. His decision to
commit suicide can be traced back to his negligent and destructive parents as they
shaped his behavior and his understanding of the world.
As the oldest child, growing up, Quentin s only source of a male role model was his
father. Mr. Compson, sadly, served as a destructive example for Quentin. Living by
the ideal no battle is ever won...they are not even fought (76), Mr. Compson believed
that fate is not something that can be changed. This view enables him to consistently
give up, driving him to alcoholism. In this way, Mr. Compson is passing... Show

Compson s cynical, nihilistic outlook on life heavily influences Quentin. In fact,
throughout his monologue, Quentin quotes many of his father s sayings. When
Quentin is unable to comprehend the things occurring in his family and in the world,
he often resorts to the words of his father. However, Quentin struggles to fuse his
own head with his father s ideas, until he eventually attempts to reject the
destructive philosophy advocated by his father. But, the world Quentin resides in
appears to constantly confirm Mr. Compson s views. Dalton Ames expresses his
contempt for women, saying women are all bitches (92); Mr. Compson essentially
says the same thing, noting that women have a natural affinity for evil (...). Gerald
Bland exploits women, and Mr. Compson says that all women expect to be
mistreated. As Quentin tries and fails to create an ethical set of values to negate his
father s skeptical view of the world, he feels that suicide is the only way he can
make peace with his father and his father s
Essay On Hero Is A Hero
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure, in
spite of overwhelming obstacles. This quote, stated by Christopher Reed, best
defines a hero in the simplest terms. A hero is someone whose job is to put others
safety before their own and show perseverance in tough situations, even if they do not
always get the recognition for it.
Heroes choose to put others before themselves, and are willing to sacrifice their own
lives, for the benefit of others. A great example of a herodisplaying these
characteristics would be Welles Crowther, also known as, the man in the red
bandanna. During the 9/11 attacks, Welles, an NYC Firefighter, was in the south
tower, rescuing as many people as possible. When he first got ... Show more content

Heroes are persistent through their challenges, they don t waver in their
determination nor shirk their duties, however difficult they are. Frederick
Douglass is a perfect example of persistence through adversity. Douglass managed
to escape from pre civil war era slavery, making it to freedom in New York City.
When Douglass first arrived, he was lonely, and terrified of being captured again.
Despite his fears, he {has}, been engaged in pleading the cause of my brethren,
with what success and with what devotion, I leave those acquainted with my
labors to decide. Douglass stated, in his autobiography, The Narrative of the Life
of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave. It took extreme perseverance to make
it all the way from Baltimore, where he lived as a slave, to New York City while in
hiding. Despite living in terror of being captured and returned to slavery, he
decided to share his journey with the world through his book! A second example of
heroes being persistent through tough times is displayed in the recently released
film, Only the Brave. This film honors the nineteen Granite Mountain Hotshots who
perished in the Yarnell Hill fire, during an ill fated attempt to save the nearby town
from destruction. While most people might run from danger, these brave men ran

The Car Is Miles Away
The nearest supermarket to my apartment is miles away. I have not dragged myself
to it in a long time because it is so inconvenient to get to when, like me, you have
no car. Usually my family gets its groceries from a little corner store a half mile s

senior busto the big supermarket. She is too young for it, but they let her ride
anyway; the senior bus drivers understand how difficult it is to get to the store if

This is where holiday foods and candies go after the holiday is passed. For the most
part, however, the Halloween candies were all sold away by the time I visited the
store in early November. The bins were full of the usual mix of pastas, pasta sauces,
canned fruit, and soaps. If I had continued forward I would have passed the checkout
aisles. Instead, I turned left through the drugstore section of the supermarket.
At the edge of the drugstore are racks of small stuffed animals and other cheap
gifts. The drugstore area itself is laid out in orderly rows. The shelves are lower
than in the main part of the store; my guess is that they were created to ease the
look out for shoplifters. Ads featuring smiling, multiracial, families adorn the ends
of the aisles. Each of which contains a carefully ordered section of items that go
together; each of these sections is then arranged by brand. This creates uniform
blocks of brand names and logos; the toothbrush section is, at first glance, a display
of Colgate and Oral logos. The drugstore has a wood, or fake wood, floor in contrast
to the shiny, white industrial tile that floors the rest of the store. The shelves are
wood look alikes. The store seems to have made an effort to create a more natural
looking environment for the drugstore, or health and beauty, section. This natural
tone is meant to convey a feeling of health, freshness, and cleanliness.

Mass Serial Vs Serial Killers
In the days we live in now it has turned into a common thing to hear about serial
killers and mass murders. We have all heard of serial killers and mass murders but
many of us don t know the difference or differences between the two. Since we hear
so much about both but know very little about serial killers and their victims we must
try to find ways to understand the reason of the murders and find out more about the
victims who have been killed.
Both serial killers and mass murders are often confused with each other. In fact until
the year 1974 serial killers were considered mass murderers. Much of the confusion
between mass murder and serial murder is due to the fact of the very many
definitions have been used by law enforcement in the past four to five decades. All
the definitions are similar in some ways but also very different in others. The
differences between all the definitions is usually when describing the motives, the
number of victims, and the time between each murder taking place.
Serial murder is usually a single murder at a time with two to ten victims or more
over all. The time in between of each murder is called a cooling off period which is
what determines between a serial killer and mass murderer. A cooling period or break
is when the serial killer is taking time off from killing because he or she is calming
down in an emotional way; when in this state of cooling the killer may seem normal
to a bystander which is why they re able to be on the loose for

The girls were chosen by Mrs. Cruthirds and we focus on topics of self esteem and
bullying. I conducted and activity with them called Let s be Diamonds . The activity
starts out with me asking them if they know how diamonds are made. We have some
discussion about diamond and how precious they are. Then I ask them if the know
what a cubic zirconia is. I explain to them that a cubic is like a diamond, but does
not have the same value as a diamond. They are both pretty to look at, but are made
differently. We then discussed if we ever have moments in which we are trying to
sparkle like a diamond, but end up being fake like a cubic. I then gave them a
reflection sheet, that ask them to reflect on moments in which they truly shined and
their personal qualities that help them shine. After they completed the worksheet, we
discussed what they wrote. I ended the session by giving them diamonds to place
anywhere they wanted as a reminder that they can shine in the hardest of times.
Many of the girls are victims of bullying or are shy in class. I told them that when
they are having a hard time to take out their diamond and remember that they can
make it through and to focus in on their diamond like qualities that allow them to
Sexuality In Renaissance Art
Renaissance art very commonly depicts women in many ways indicative of
sexuality, specifically in regards to nudity and eroticism. Women in renaissance art
were normally shown as sexual and often erotic beings specifically in their
positioning which is indicative of one of the main sources of female power at the
time, sexual, as proven by the high status of courtesans and larger social acceptance
towards sex while seen as a sin, it was still an activity most took part in. However, at
the same time, this promoted a femalebeauty standard and a conventional view that
female power lies predominantly in their sexuality. In this paper specifically, I will
focus on this phenomena in three prominent paintings: The Birth of Venus by
Botticelli, Danae by Titian, and the Portrait of Simonetta Vespucci by Piero di
Cosimo. The visible sexuality that women wield intrigues men, which is why it is so
often displayed in art. With this, sex, sexuality, and sex appeal are the ultimate
channels by which to gain power. This is indicative in the fact that courtesans... Show

However, people still harbor sexual desire. Sexual desire was seen as man s
punishment for the original sin committed by Adam in that it cursed the people
with torment in the form of libido, the biological and psychological facet of sexual
desire for sexual activity itself. This produces a sort of disconnect in that the people
were expected to only have sex for procreation while their bodies would produce
feelings that said otherwise, leading to a necessary outlet to channel these feelings.
Like many other feelings, these were turned into art. Often these depictions depict
what was seen as the ideal female form and then place it on display for the male
viewers but in the painting the artist has the choice to take ownership over the woman
s sexuality, leave it open for interpretation, or to blatantly give ownership to the

Gender Roles In Legally Blonde

assimilating to Harvard s fiercely competitive environment, Elle evolves into a
determined, grade A student while maintaining her feminine and girl next door

as a gendered cultural product, yet it shies away from culturally accepted norms in a
way that celebrates femininity. In the film Legally Blonde, the protagonist, ... Show

Insights about gender are shown through the film s plot and characters, where doing
gender and hegemonic masculinity come into play. Furthermore, while Elle at first
appears to be one dimensional, her dynamic role expresses a feminist view on
gendered institutions and controlling images. In the film there are moments when
Elle falls victim to sexism and gendered institutions, but in the end she is able to
surpass these limitations. Although the film does not present intersections of
inequalities in the protagonist s struggles, overall traditional views on gender are
tested. In sum, Legally Blonde is a gendered cultural product, but has more to offer
than surface level comedy, seen through Elle s professional success and resilience,

Controversy Of Advertisement
Argumentative Essay
In today s society the only way to become a famous musician is to have good music
that fans will like. One of the ways fans learn about an artist s new songs is through
ads. A fan would be watching TV or listening to music on their smartphone, and an ad
might pop up with their favorite artist s new song. The fan would most likely wonder
what is was and download it. Artists should continue to allow their music to be placed
in advertisements because it helps them earn money, and it can help them get
recognized.
First, using ads can help the artist earn more money. Some artists only make U.S.
minimum wage for their music, so advertising and making corporate deals can really

Sometimes fans will feel betrayed when they see their favorite song in a burger
commercial and instead of gaining popularity the artist will actually lose it and get
very strong negative feedback. Take U2 for example one of the world s most popular
rock bands who after, landing a deal with Apple that had their 2014 album Songs of
Innocence installed into 500 million iTunes subscribers libraries for free, faces a
storm of negative feedback from fans and critics alike. People resented the idea
that an album they didn t ask for was forced on them, likening the album to musical
spam, and the reputations of both U2 and Apple were damaged. (Source 2
Paragraph 8) Although doing this can hurt the reputation of artists it can help them
as well. They can earn way more money, get famous quickly and live a good life. It
is a risk artists are willing to take because making music is their livelihood not just
their hobby.
To conclude, signing off songs, albums, and making commercials can be a risk,
there are way more benefits than cons. Besides if an artist doesn t want his or her
music on streaming apps, they can just tell those companies to stop streaming their
music, which may increase sales of downloads of an artist s music since it is not
being streamed. Everyone knows that ads help and making deals help so why make a
big deal? It is an artist s choice and if they want to

Stereotypes About Skinny

people are skinny is because they want to look better or they starve themselves.
Others consider them to be healthier than others. That there is a stereotype, a
stereotype is when something is said about a group of people that is based on
some truth, but it is exaggerated. Maybe there was a time when that was true, but
now there are other reasons to why people are skinny. People all over the world are

Oppression Of Women In The 14th Century
The Woman has coursed through much of life with challenge, most commonly
involving emotional and mental challenge via Man. Specifically in times such as the
Middle Ages, the era from 476 CE into the 14th century, women began to experience
different brutality of man. In this era, women of all backgrounds endured vibrant
oppression, exemplified through man s ideology in societal decree and religious
interpretation. This misunderstood nature of womans value within the afflicted society
largely occurred surrounding certain branches of the community; within the walls of
those controlled by man. Man determined societal decree mostly via the Church;
deciphered inside government walls of which, woman had no share whatsoever in the
government of the kingdom and of the society (Shahar). Expectation within society
for women was of simple nature, to procreate. According to doctrine, women failed to
possess intelligence needed to pursue any other profession at the time. Education was
available, but limited to noble women, the members of high class of which most
women were not included. The common woman in society was distant from the
predetermined class of residents, instead relegated into class... Show more content on

Evidence of societal belief offered insight into the woman s singular responsibility, for
value upon the woman was vacant from society or the Church in all other
circumstances presented. Societal law, often more than not, found man with

resources as the Church, discouraged woman s ability to formulate knowledge;
specifically of equality standards set in the era. Through declarations of belief, no
path had been presented, nor was one to be. The woman could not acquire decent
education, an attribute not seen as necessity within societies in the era; however

Lowell Mills And Chimney Sweeps
Always evolving, always changing and always growing. Growing for the better or
for worse? In the 18th century, Industrial advancements such as the steam engine
seemed like a great idea, but as history has proved countless times, had its faults. The
Industrial Revolution impacted the world in a negative way because of the loss of
humanity, as seen in the Female Factoryworkers, Lowell Mills and Chimney Sweeps.
By the 1800s, people could earn higher wages in factories than on farms.
(Industrialization; Case study:Manchester, 723) Although these higher wages made in
factories pushed the industrial revolutionforward, by being able to afford resources
such as coal, factory life damaged its workers and the community by created
border between classes. For example, working conditions. Working conditions
during this time were extremely poor, and on average, a worker would spend 14
hours a day in factories. Factories were unsanitary, unsafe and generally not
enjoyable. Factories were seldom well lit or clean. Machines injured workers. A
boiler might explode or a drive belt might catch an arm. And there was no
government program to provide aid in case of injury. (Industrialization; Case... Show

Specifically, the Lowell Mill Girls. The Lowell Mills was one of the first known
textile factories in the industrial revolution, and brought advances in materials such
as clothes. Francis Cabot Lowell, founded The Lowell Mills in 1820, and started
his production of Textiles, By 1840, the factories in Lowell employed at some
estimates more than 8,000 textile workers, commonly known as mill girls or
factory girls. (The Gilder Lehrman institute of American History) The Lowell Mill
girls ranged in age from 7 to 30 and faced the same common factory working
conditions and wage obstacles, but as the girls were younger, they had even less
rights, lower wages and are known to have been torn from their families and old

The Role Of Incarceration In The United States
Prison is a facility used to punish those who have committed a crime or detain those
who are awaiting trial, it is a building in which people are legally held. The main
purpose of imprisonment is to reform, deter and eliminate a threat from society.
Marxists see the government as a way for bourgeoisie to maintain their powerful
position in society. Althusser argues that the state consists of two elements: the
repressive state apparatus (RSA) and the ideological state apparatus. (ISA) Both
apparatuses are used to maintain the bourgeoisie in power. The repressive state
apparatus uses force; this can be seen through the use of the law enforcement or
prisons to maintain power whilst the ideological state apparatus is used by
influencing the way people think.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wacquant in this case argues that punishment and incarceration are central to the
organization of capitalism today as todays form of capitalism is neoliberal, this means
companies are looking for the cheapest workforce. With unemployment rates rising
there has been an increase in incarceration. In this essay, I will be demonstrating how
the criminological imagination shifts over history, geography and culture by
exploring the question does imprisonment benefit capitalism or not?
Rates of imprisonment in the United States has had a steady uprising between 1920
1975. The Great Depression was one of the worst incidents America faced as it led to
the highest prison rate of 2 million, although the Great Depression had a negative
effect upon the prison rate, there were other factors that led to its increase. For
example, the increase of support towards the black community. The expansions of the
penal state after the mid 1970s was both dramatically accelerated and decisively
twisted by the revolt and involutive collapse of the dark ghetto. (Wacquant: 2009: 14)

Dental Implants Persuasive Speech
Our teeth are a very important part of our body and there are many different things
that can go wrong with them. There are a lot of ways that teeth can become chipped
or broken to where they fall out. When someone you lose a tooth or a tooth in your
mouth needs to be replaced, you have many different options such as a bridge or
dentures.
Another option you have, that many people choose, is dental implants. This is one of
the best options when it comes to needing a replacement for your teeth or tooth.
There are many advantages to getting these implants. However, before we get into
ways that you will benefit from getting this procedure done, you need to know what
these implants really are and different ways they will help you.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You don t want to get dental implants before you know the important facts.
What You Need to Know
#1: You Will Pay More For Implants Than Other Tooth Solutions. This is one of the
main reasons that people choose to not get dental implants. They can cost you a
pretty penny! Most dental offices do not allow insurance to cover dental implants.
Most of the time, to have a dental implant, you will pay around $2,000 for one tooth.
That doesn t include the cost of a crown though, which could end up running you
another $1,000.
#2: Is the Cost Worth It? Many people say yes! It is worth it. These implants are
better to get than dentures and bridges.
Dentures give many people problems due to them not fitting in the mouth correctly
and some have a hard time getting them to in their mouths. Not to mention they can
cause you to taste things a lot differently.
Having a bridge put in your teeth can cause the two teeth that are being adjoined to
decay faster and become much weaker. This can be very dangerous for those two
teeth and it can be a waste of time and
What Are The Causes Of Buck s Transformation
Buck, who was once a domesticated dog learned what life is really like when you
are no longer the king and there is nobody to pamper you. Buck s transformation
occurred because of his relationship with Judge Miller, HCM, and John Thornton.
Buck s transformation occurred because of his relationship with Judge Miller.
Judge Miller helped transform Buck by being his foundation and giving him
responsibility at his estate. In the book in chapter 1 on page 3 in paragraph 1 the
responsibilities of Buck are stated such as, carrying or escorting the children of
Judge Miller and carrying his grandchildren on his back. In the estate of the Miller s

HCM helped transform Buck by helping him overcome obstacles. In the book in
chapter 5 on page 69 in paragraphs 3 10 an obstacle is the heavy load the few dogs
are left to pull especially with the weight of Mercedes. The dogs were overfed then
they were underfed because of the scarcity of the food and they have
inexperienced owners which obviously had no idea what they were doing. When
Buck decided to not move on after sensing danger up ahead he overcame his
obstacles and the causes also known as HCM. By refusing to move on it was his
own way of saying he was done and he was not going to let them control his life
anymore. When they fell through the thinning ice he had truly conquered them.
Buck s transformation occurred because of his relationship with John Thornton.
John Thornton helped transform Buck by being his road to freedom and
independence. In the book in chapter 7 on page 129 in paragraph 2, John Thornton
was dead. The last tie was broken. Man and the claims of man no longer bound him.
When the ties of man were broken, Buck stopped trying to fight against the call of
the wild as he was no longer restricted to do man s bidding. Instead, he gives in and
becomes the leader of the pack of

arrangement of people, relationship and responsibilities in carrying out company
activities to achieve goal. In addition it also can define as how a people in the

for larger organization that decisions have to be made about the delegation of various

Another benefit of functional organization structure is coherent chain of command.
For example, referring to above chart Account and payroll fall under purview of
Finance department. A clear chain of command is needed, this is because it creates
standard operation procedures, besides established consequences also enhanced
accountability. Another advantages of functional structure is it cans expedited
decision making. This is because normally group decision making will slow down
progress on project due to the diverse perspectives involved. But in this structure
because people have similar professional and educational background the decision
making process will be much easier. In addition functional structure also allows work
to be done by qualified and skilled individual in the area concern. Hence, another
advantage of this structure is that it reduces cost by reducing duplication and use of
resource in the organization. 1.2 Disadvantage of Functional Structure Functional
structure also have disadvantage. The disadvantage of functional structure is because
functional structure separate by function, as a result employee having a very little
understanding or concern for other area instead of their own area. Because of this
separation there is a barrier in communication and overall cooperation and
coordination. Beside that in this structure individual focus is rather than a company
focus. 3 2.0 Geographic Structure Geographic structure often use by large company

President Of The United States
His power, his passion, is the fabric of America. And it s woven by work ethic and
dreams and drive and faith in the Almighty, what a combination. (S, Palin) Donald
Trump is powerful, persuasive and risky. As a candidate for President of the
United States, Trump stands strong to purported morals. His campaign video
depicts him as the ultimate candidate ; an individual is who has the ability to stand
up for middle class American s yet be strong enough to institute change, which the
Obama administration has been perceived as failing to do. However we are also
able to see how Trump has used his power to shape his ideal self into something he
is not. Someone who uses codes and signifiers in his favour to fabricate new ideas
and conventions.
Donald Trump has a strident voice, but those who stand with him appear silent in
stark contrast. The reason for this being that Trump s campaign, even down to his
fan base, is centred on oppression. His goal is to appeal to middle class, white
citizens who feel that they have been deprived of the American Dream. That is; the
ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and
prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative (Oxford Dictionaries). He
targets this subgroup and directs their resentment to the people who have tarnished
this American Dream . For example, Trump has voiced that he wants to deport all
Mexicans and build a wall between the borders demonstrating his strong motive to
Essay On Brain Stimulation
At baseline, before stimulation, it was found that the more depressed an individual
was, the less activation there was in the prefrontal lobes and caudate nucleus
(Teneback et. al, 1999). Teneback et. al (1999) also noted that following high
frequency treatment, they noticed that the people who responded to the treatment
had increased inferior frontal gyrus activity compared to those who did not respond
to treatment and days later they also had decreased medial temporal activity. The
prediction is that while both the responders and non responders showed changes in a

al, 2012). It was also found that better outcomes occurred for patients that were
younger with a lower baseline depression (Carpenter et. al, 2012). Studies have found
improvement in cognitive functioning along with symptoms of depression. The
improvement of depression symptoms was linked with an improvement in
visuospatial memory, verbal memory, long term memory recall, working memory,
information processing speed, and orientation (Serafini et. al, 2015). It is predicted
that the improvement in cognitive functioning occurs due to the relief of symptoms,
but it is also postulated that the improvement of cognitive function improves
depressive symptoms (Serafini et. al, 2015; Kedzior et. al, 2015). However, more
research needs to be done to determine the temporal precedence and to better
understand the cognitive improvement. Research is still being done to determine the
best techniques to have the maximum impact when using TMS to treat depression.
Currently, the length of stimulation and number of sessions is standardized, so little
to no research is being completed. Two weeks of daily sessions with a 30 second
cycle, 2 seconds stimulation and 28 seconds off, repeated 40 times per session. Since
this protocol has been proven to be effective in countless studies, there is not a rush
to find a better alternative. It was found that people who improve with low frequency
stimulation get worse with high frequency stimulation,

  • 2. King Claudius Relationship Essay When a person insists on taking control over certain situations, it often causes complexities within their surrounding environment, since governing over someone s life could arouse conflict. In Act 1 of William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, there are plenty of interactions between certain characters who persist their authority over others that consequently result into strain relationships between the characters. Claudius, the newly crown king of Denmark after his brother s death, would stubbornly push forward his own opinions and plans over his mourning nephew, Prince Hamlet, who develop resentment due to the sudden events. Polonius, the Lord Chamberlain of Claudius s court, as well, would demand obedience from his daughter, Ophelia, insisting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After being questioned by his mother, Queen Gertrude, for his downcast behavior, Hamlet tried to articulate his own woes; a feeling that he is unable to display properly. King Claudius, however, instead of trying to understand his nephew s distress insisted Hamlet to Throw to earth this unprevailing woe and think of us as of a father; for let the world take note, you are the most immediate to our throne, and with no less nobility of love that that which dearest father bears his son do I impart toward you (Shakespeare 245). Uncaringly disregarding his nephew s mourning for his father, King Claudius criticized Hamlet on his moping, insisting that his actions were weak and unfit for someone who s going to inherit the throne. He wants Hamlet to retire from his own feelings and move on forward to the present while instructing Hamlet to consider him as his new father and take account that he s only doing this out of love. King Claudius is using a force of control over Hamlet s life, failing to take account of his nephew s opinion, only for the benefit of himself since now he is in the position as king and as a father. He wants to make sure Hamlet is abiding to his

He harms many of Ruth s friends, who are black, to get to the child. He greatly represents the evil behind racism. On the other side is Idgie, who represents equality. She not only supports African Americans, but she also works and lives with them. She has great love for them along with Ruth. Her hate and desire to murder Frank greatly reveals her opposition towards him and racism. In fact, after Frank was killed, she was accused of the murder. However, we see later in the end that the film depicts that love and unity triumphs the evil of racism within the reality that Ruth s friend, Sipcey, is really the one who successfully murders Frank with only a frying pan. Many symbols within the film speak for things much greater than how they actually appear. One of which obviously are the fried green tomatoes. This vegetable dish serves as symbol between friends in this film. While Ninny tells the story of the tomatoes that Idgie and Ruth made together, Evelyn ends up making the exact recipe for Ninny later towards the end, almost solidifying their friendship. Here we see the tomatoes as a shared connection and taste between two women, across two different

The aim of Taylorism is to maixmise productivity and minimise waste of resources using specialisation of labour. There are three main components of Taylorism and it will be discussed in detail in the later paragraphs. Firstly, according to Rose, M. (1978), Taylor believes that the root of inefficiency is the slacking and soldiering of workers. And irrational and incompetent of managers. He further explained the idea of inefficacy by stating managers are incompetent is because of the growth in scale and technical complexity of industry . In order to dealt with the slackness of worker, the worker should be closely control and supervise by inspector. This ensures that no one will shirk during work and the chance of worker making mistakes are minimized. Hence worker will produce the maximum effort which leads to increase in productivity. Taylorism also suggested the use of hierarchy organization structure which means separating the decision maker, usually the managers and the people who receive orders from the managers and implement it. This is because he believes that people with no management skills will not be able to make a right decision and hence may leads to a waste of resources. Besides supervision, Taylor asserted that managers should apply their professional knowledge on managing their worker and plan the work. For example, calculating the

  • 10. Anaerobic Respiration In Sports Drinks Sports drinks are used to rehydrate athletes during and after exercise. However, the efficiency of these electrolyte drinks has been questioned. During respiration glucose from food is added to oxygen to form ATP,C02, and H20. During exercise, glucose and oxygen are used at a much faster rate due to increased muscle contractions. There are two types of respiration; aerobic and anaerobic. During aerobic respiration, glucose is added to oxygen to produce CO2,H20, and 38 ATP molecules. However, during high intensity exercise, the oxygen supply is less than the demand. Because of this, anaerobic respiration takes over. This type of respiration can occur without oxygen, however ,it only produces 2 ATP molecules in comparison to 38. In addition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before exercise, the cell and its surroundings are in an isotonic state. This means that there is the same amount of water and molecules on both sides of the membrane. During exercise, water is lost at a faster rate through perspiration. Therefore, the cell goes into a hypotonic state, which means that the water rushes into the cell via osmosis; the movement of water from an area of high to low concentration. The majority of sports drinks are isotonic. Some scientists argue that the isotonic state of sports drinks renders them ineffective in regards to cellular hydration. It has been argued that because water isn t entering the cell during an isotonic state, performance is impaired due to improper cellular hydration. It should be noted that sports drink consumption after exercise is detrimental. After exercise, glucose demand slows down. When the supply of glucose from sports drinks is greater than the demand,it is eventually converted to fat via lipogenesis. In addition to the negative effects of sports drinks, it is also important to take into consideration, the fact that glucose /electrolyte requirements and sport drink ingredients will vary. Therefore, while one sports drink could improve performance for one person, it could be ineffective for someone else. In homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern, receiver noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage of coverage hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network. Whereas small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage hole and to provide mobility to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits, current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS achieves near optimal performance. Researchers are now moving towards more advanced heterogeneous network topology which will bring the network more closely to the mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49]. • 22. Mechanisms of Axon Guidance Axons are sensitive and their respond depend on the local environment. When the tectum is removed, retinal axons grow toward the missing tissue, demonstrating that optic axons utilize these neighbourhood signals as opposed to a long run diffusible attractant from the tectum as they grow along the optic tract (Taylor, 1990). In the event of a small piece of the optic tract neuroepithelium is turned 90В° preceding the axons enter it, then they become misoriented when they enter the pivoted transplant (Harris, 1989) and correct their course of growth once they exit. These results confirm that the neuroepithelium contains local information to which growing axons respond and that they are not simply following gradients of attractants released by their targets (Sanes et al., 2012). Growth conefilopodia are long, motile, and covered with receptors, also have a very high surface to volume ratio, which can help convert membrane signals into large changes in intracellular messengers such as calcium. Filopodia can show localized transient elevations of intracellular calcium and these transients reduce filopodial motility (Sanes et al., 2012). Calcium transients can be directly artificially activated in growth cone filopodia by loading neurons with a calcium caging agent that releases calcium upon stimulation with a pulse of light (Gomez et al., 2001). Experiments in which calcium is uncaged on one side of a growth cone generally cause the growth cone to turn toward the side that has

The Los Angeles economy was constructed through the manual labor of largely Latino immigrants, which the city today still heavily depends on (Valle and Torres, 2000, 15 16). In their chapter, Economic Geography of Latino Los Angeles, Valle and Torres argue that Latino immigrants working in the labor workforce in the Southeast Los Angeles area (cities such Vernon, Maywood, Bell, etc.) are often discriminated and often depicted by the media, anti immigrant leaders, and sympathizers as victims and villains (Valle and Torres, 2000,... Both Latinos and African Americans were trapped in the dirtiest, most dangerous and lowest paying positions. For example, many were either placed in the pits of the furnace, bolt shop, or wire mill. These jobs were lower paying and offered less or no incentive pay. Jobs located near the furnace were very dirty, dangerous, and not desired by Anglo workers. So, there was a sort of work discrimination towards minority workers (Donahoe, 2005, 90 91). My father has worked in steel mill company in Vernon and can often relate to this type of discrimination. Comparing Merchant sThe Death of Nature and Thomas Man and the Natural World The works of Carolyn Merchant and Keith Thomas pertain to the same subject matter and even to the same time period. Nevertheless, in comparing their interpretations of the evidence and the presentation of their arguments concerning the history of mankind s relationship with nature in Tudor and Stuart England through the Scientific and Industrial Revolutions, we find that they are quite different. Merchant presents us with a rather one sided, retrospective attack on science as the root of all environmental evil, while Thomas offers a relatively neutral, prospective look at how the people of this time reacted to the changing views of nature and what, exactly, ... She assimilates Bacon s ideas about science and nature into her argument saying, The new man of science must not think that the inquisition of nature is in any part interdicted or forbidden. Nature must be bound into service and made a slave, put in constraint and molded by the mechanical arts (169). This doctrine of nature as an inert, unfeeling machine that Bacon and his contemporaries advocate so adamantly seems to have changed forever the belief in organicism, or, that all living beings are an equal part of nature. The natural magician [the organicist] saw himself as operating within the organic order of nature he was a manipulator of parts within that system, bringing down the heavenly powers to the earthly shrine (169). In Merchant s opinion, the abandonment of this organic view of nature in favor of Bacon s mechanical view led to the death of the world soul and the removal of nature s spirits which helped to support increasing environmental destruction by removing any scruples that might be associated with the view that nature was a living organism (227). With this throwing off of the moral yoke, Bacon and his fellow man were free to do with nature what they would. Keith Thomas, however, has a very different opinion of science and the role it played in the natural world in the early modern period. The concept of change is integral to his book, Man and the Natural World. While Merchant believes that science was the downfall of

The mother Caroline is a hypochondriac, and the father Jason an alcoholic. Quentin is neurotic; Caddy, promiscuous; Jason, cynical; and Benjy, mentally challenged. Quentin s neurosis is particularly tragic, as he ultimately decides to end his life by drowning himself in a river. His decision to commit suicide can be traced back to his negligent and destructive parents as they shaped his behavior and his understanding of the world. As the oldest child, growing up, Quentin s only source of a male role model was his father. Mr. Compson, sadly, served as a destructive example for Quentin. This quote, stated by Christopher Reed, best defines a hero in the simplest terms. A hero is someone whose job is to put others safety before their own and show perseverance in tough situations, even if they do not always get the recognition for it. Heroes choose to put others before themselves, and are willing to sacrifice their own lives, for the benefit of others. Much of the confusion between mass murder and serial murder is due to the fact of the very many definitions have been used by law enforcement in the past four to five decades. All the definitions are similar in some ways but also very different in others. The differences between all the definitions is usually when describing the motives, the number of victims, and the time between each murder taking place. Serial murder is usually a single murder at a time with two to ten victims or more over all. The time in between of each murder is called a cooling off period which is what determines between a serial killer and mass murderer. Like many other feelings, these were turned into art. Someone who uses codes and signifiers in his favour to fabricate new ideas and conventions. Donald Trump has a strident voice, but those who stand with him appear silent in stark contrast. The reason for this being that Trump s campaign, even down to his fan base, is centred on oppression. His goal is to appeal to middle class, white citizens who feel that they have been deprived of the American Dream. That is; the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative (Oxford Dictionaries). He targets this subgroup and directs their resentment to the people who have tarnished this American Dream . For example, Trump has voiced that he wants to deport all Mexicans and build a wall between the borders demonstrating his strong motive to
  • 44. Essay On Brain Stimulation At baseline, before stimulation, it was found that the more depressed an individual was, the less activation there was in the prefrontal lobes and caudate nucleus (Teneback et. al, 1999). Teneback et. al (1999) also noted that following high frequency treatment, they noticed that the people who responded to the treatment had increased inferior frontal gyrus activity compared to those who did not respond to treatment and days later they also had decreased medial temporal activity. The prediction is that while both the responders and non responders showed changes in a Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging is that responders had more normalization of blood flow (Teneback et. al, 1999). These results support the idea that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al, 2012). It was also found that better outcomes occurred for patients that were younger with a lower baseline depression (Carpenter et. al, 2012). Studies have found improvement in cognitive functioning along with symptoms of depression. The improvement of depression symptoms was linked with an improvement in visuospatial memory, verbal memory, long term memory recall, working memory, information processing speed, and orientation (Serafini et. al, 2015). It is predicted that the improvement in cognitive functioning occurs due to the relief of symptoms, but it is also postulated that the improvement of cognitive function improves depressive symptoms (Serafini et. al, 2015; Kedzior et. al, 2015). However, more research needs to be done to determine the temporal precedence and to better understand the cognitive improvement. Research is still being done to determine the best techniques to have the maximum impact when using TMS to treat depression. Currently, the length of stimulation and number of sessions is standardized, so little to no research is being completed. Two weeks of daily sessions with a 30 second cycle, 2 seconds stimulation and 28 seconds off, repeated 40 times per session. Since this protocol has been proven to be effective in countless studies, there is not a rush to find a better alternative. It was found that people who improve with low frequency stimulation get worse with high frequency stimulation,
