Love Marriage Vs Arranged Marriage Essay
Composing an essay on the topic of "Love Marriage vs Arranged Marriage" is a challenging
endeavor that requires a thoughtful exploration of cultural, societal, and personal perspectives.
This subject delves into the complex dynamics surrounding the two prevalent forms of
matrimony, demanding a comprehensive analysis of their merits, drawbacks, and the cultural
contexts that shape them.
One must navigate through the myriad aspects associated with love marriages, such as the
autonomy and emotional connection between partners, juxtaposed against the stability and
familial support often associated with arranged marriages. The writer needs to consider societal
expectations, individual preferences, and the evolving nature of relationships in contemporary
society.
Expressing nuanced viewpoints while avoiding stereotypes or biased perspectives adds an
additional layer of difficulty to the task. The essay should strive to strike a balance,
acknowledging that both forms of marriage have their strengths and weaknesses, and that the
ideal choice depends on individual circumstances.
Moreover, discussing historical and cultural backgrounds is imperative to provide a
comprehensive understanding of the subject. This requires delving into the roots of arranged
marriages in various cultures, contrasting them with the modern ideals of love marriages. Such
an exploration necessitates in-depth research and a nuanced approach to present a fair and
unbiased analysis.
Crafting a coherent and persuasive argument in favor of one type of marriage over the other, or
advocating for a middle ground, is no small feat. It requires not only a clear understanding of the
subject matter but also the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas effectively. The essay should
be well-structured, with a compelling introduction, a body that explores multiple facets, and a
conclusion that synthesizes the information presented.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of "Love Marriage vs Arranged Marriage" in an essay demands
a blend of research, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of human relationships and
societal norms. It is a challenge that requires careful consideration of cultural contexts, historical
perspectives, and individual experiences. Nevertheless, with dedication and a meticulous
approach, one can successfully navigate this intricate subject, delivering an essay that is both
informative and thought-provoking.

Essay On The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down
Overview of the book
In the book The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, author Anne Fadiman
presents a character who suffered from epilepsy as a Hmong child who born on
July 19, 1982, in Merced, California. Being the fourteenth child of Foua Yang and
Nao Kao Lee, Lia Lee was their favorite daughter. They spoiled her and treated her
like a princess; believed that her epilepsy marked her as special; and that she might
someday become a shaman, which is a person regards as having access to. Because
of their belief, the Lees were both concerned and proud of Lia. They brought her to
the Merced Community Medical Center (MCMC) for treatment, Meanwhile, they
also practiced traditional healing that involved call back her soul using tvic neeb. ...

This book grapples with ethical dilemmas that can present themselves while working
with people from other cultures and professional disciplines.
Perspectives
From the perspective of the social worker Jeanine Hilt, systems perspective could be
used to assess Lia Lee, her family or those in the community of the book. System
perspective sees human behavior as the outcome of reciprocal interactions of
persons operating within linked social systems (Hutchison, 2013). When reading
this book at the beginning, one may have thought of it as a story about the
collision of two cultures a story about Lia Lee, Foua Yang and Nao Kao Lee, Neil
Ernst and Peggy Philp, and Jeanine Hilt rather than Lia Lee s story. The lives of
Lia Lee, Foua Yang and Nao Kao Lee, Neil Ernst and Peggy Philp, and Jeanine Hilt
were interrelated. In addition, the influences of one and another s behavior had
impacted the overall well being of Lia Lee. The mutual roles of caregiver parents
and caregiver doctors had to keep adjusting their roles to accommodate changing care
needs. For example, the Lees believed in a little medicine and a little neeb for treating
Lia s epilepsy, under the circumstance, their beliefs impact Lia s illness when they
brought Lia to MCMC for treatment, while, practiced traditional healing to call back
her soul. Similarly, concerned for Lia s safety due to her parents noncompliance with
the medicine,
America Needs Its Nerds Summary
America Needs Its Nerds by Leonid Fridman proposes a relevant issue that the
intellectually gifted students are being ostracized in today s society. Fridman argues
that nerds and geeks need to stop being ashamed of themselves. He develops these
arguments by using the rhetorical strategy of parallelism, making comparisons,
utilizing diction and irony. Fridman uses parallelism through his sentence structure
and in the progression of the essay. Parallelism in sentence structure is shown in lines
three through four when he states, Intellectually curious and academically serious .
Those words are grammatically similar, with the same suffixes and pronunciations.
Parallelisms comes back again in lines seventeen through eighteen, when Fridman
states that, Nerds are ostracized while athletes are idolized . Ostracized and idolized
represent parallelism in sentence structure because of their endings and
pronunciation. The author uses parallelism in sentence structure to contribute to the
flow of the essay. This draws the reader to keep reading.... Show more content on

For instance, in lines thirty five though forty, the author compares the anti
intellectualism in America to the pro intellectualism in East Asian countries. Also, in
lines forty one through forty six, the author uses another international comparison
between the paychecks of baseball players in America and the paychecks of
professors in other countries. That being said, the paychecks of baseball players are
higher than professors in America. The author uses these examples to enhance his
argument on why America should be more accepting towards those who are
intellectually gifted. The comparisons that he had made help the reader understand his
Social Injustice In Executive Order 13769
Due to variance in opinions, people more often disagree than agree on social and
political controversies. Social injustice occurs when these disagreements lead not to
civil discourse but instead the oppression of those with opposing ideas. President
Donald Trump s new Executive Order 13769 is one of the most recent social
injustices that has been caused due to his presidency. It has affected an estimated
90,000 people and has caused huge protests worldwide (Kessler). With the use of
unfair and religion based treatment that violates both the Constitution s establishment
clause and the Geneva Conventions mandate against denying refugees asylum, Trump
created a controversial problem that produced a divide between not only American

All he has done since then is keep his word, ensuring his support across his fan base.
Donald Trump thrives in the entertainment industry, which gives him headlines and
publicity and cheering crowds across America, and he has only brought those
entertainment tactics to his role as a president ruling by fear.
There are no social injustices that go without affecting the public, and Executive
Order 13769 has impacted many people not only in our nation, but also in the
periphery, in many different countries around the world. The victims of this social
injustice are primarily those from the seven countries, especially Muslims, but
anyone who has put their faith in American idealism will experience the fallout
from this destruction of our constitutional values. When it comes to accepting
refugees now, the White House is essentially prioritizing Christians over Muslims
from the Middle East. In fact, in an interview with the Christian broadcasting
network a few days after the immigration ban was instated, Donald Trump claimed
he would favor Christian refugees as an exception to the executive order (Yulas).
People with dual citizenship are being affected now as well by not being able to
travel freely outside the country without worry they may not be allowed to return. A
specific victim of this injustice, Thon Maker, a rookie on the Milwaukee Bucks, is a
native of Sudan, one of the seven countries that Trump has banned for travel
(Reports). The National Basketball Association is now concerned with Maker s
ability to travel with his team to Toronto for future games (Reports). The immigration
limitation not only affects people living in the seven countries, but also those who
care about upholding our values and human rights
Character Abuse In Jane Eyre
Charlotte Bronte, in her most famous novel, Jane Eyre, carefully utilizes different
characters to influence and shape Jane s personality throughout the story. Bronte uses
varied actions and emotions to do this, but one of the main actions is abuse. Though
not in every setting in the novel, abusive tormenting people are spread throughout the
story that change Jane and her future. These ill mannered actions can completely
change Jane s mindset, personality, and life story. In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre,
cruel male protagonists alter Jane s character through physical, psychological, and
emotional abuse. The first type of abuse that Jane experiences is physical abuse.
This is caused by John Reed. John is first introduced to the reader in the very first
chapter of the book. He immediately shows dominance over Jane and treats her with
disrespect. Pushed by his savage personality, John bullies Jane. For instance, in this
chapter, John throws a book at Jane, causing her to fall and cut her head. This brutal
behavior affects Jane and helps her to stand up for herself. Even though she does
stands up for herself, John continues to bully her. Since Jane is considered nothing
but a nuisance to the Reed s, John blames his mistakes on Jane, and because of this,
John s punishments pass over to Jane. Although Bronte s dynamic character, Jane, is
changed from abuse displayed by the infamous John Reed, She continues to stand
strong as best as she can. Eventually, Mrs. Reed sends Jane to a

The study they used was mapping in Pittsburg with participation of gang members

explored the effect of gang set on the crime levels as carriers, neighbors, and non

(1997) found serious underreporting bias when using 911 data as a measure of total
crime. They attribute this bias to the fact that 23 percent of all crimes handled by
patrol officers emanate from police initiated actions and not from civilian 911 calls
(George, 2007, p. 218). The researcher model the 911 call counts using the passion

potential bias from the passion regression model. As a result they examined city

Illicit Drug Trafficking
Role of social network structure in illicit drug trafficking in Columbia
By Preeti Kanther Over the past three decades, the US has spent more than a trillion
dollars to curtail drug industry operations in Latin America. During 1980s, Peru,
Bolivia and Columbia used to contribute 65%, 25% and 10% toward the overall coca
production globally. Since then, due to many US funded war efforts on drugs in these
neighboring Andean countries, drug industry in Columbia got a tremendous boost,
increasing its market share to 90% and making it the world s largest cocaine
producer ever by 2000. Between 2000 and 2010, US invested close to $7.3bn on

It s hard to understand the direction of information flow or where the authority

harder for law enforcements to devise any strategic moves and predict the outcome.
The network structure seemed to be really dense in the core with a lot of small

constant access of new information. The strength of intra network operations lies in
the hands of these brokers. They could be very well characterized as connectors4.
Think of the network structure as really dense in the core and spreading outwards on

contract itself depending on the market situation. 5 The core members treat each

The Role Of Women In Hedda Gabler
English Lit Written Assignment
Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in
the Victorian Era.
Introduction:
In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the
Victorian era through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England,
women experienced unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders
of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed
Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole
world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of
stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic
heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and
despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. At last,
she frees herself from all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her, by
completing the act of suicide. Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores
the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era.

who holds the upper hand in all affairs, and to express her freedom or at least want
for freedom, she states I am exceedingly glad to think that you have no sort of hold
over me (p. 55). Her words foreshadow the ending of the play as it prepares the
audience for unexpected and uncontrolled actions taken by Hedda. Furthermore, the
ultimate outcome of her actions is Tesmun and Thea working together to re create the
manuscript, which Hedda was unprepared for. Tesmun and Thea take over her last
place of comfort, as she removes her belongings from the drawing room and the

How Is Shakespeare Relevant Today
It has been more than 400 years since William Shakespeare wrote his last play.
Although multiple eras have past, his work is still extremely valued and relevant
today. Shakespeare s multiple plays and poems are continuously readapted into
modern day movies, tv shows, books, and art. Not only is his work used for
entertainment, it is considered one of the most staple forms of English education in
schools around the world. Although it is widely common to see Shakespeare s
relevance today as him just being the best author to ever live , Shakespeare is
actually most popular due to the characters he created, the timeless themes he
incorporated into his work , and how they influence us today. Part of William
Shakespeares relevance today is due to the characters he created. Their complex
personalities and mysterious backgrounds make them incredibly intriguing. He makes

At first glance when reading Shakespeare you question why it is so famous and
important. What many people don t realize is that his poems and plays give us a
different outlook on life. At a certain point, if you listen enough, you realize that
what seemed random is really described as complex . What had been annoying
now instead strikes you as appealingly edgy. And what initially seemed weird now
looks strangely wonderful. (Mack, pg 2). For years people have struggled with
understanding Shakespeare, but once you realize the value and meaning behind his
words it can become eye opening. His work provides agony, reality, heartbreak,
conflict, truth, and more everyday themes that we experience constantly.
Shakespeare offers us a lens on the real world in which we live..... one that reflects
the world in a way that allows us to see its true nature.... we see that it not only
reflects the world around us, but ourselves. (Mack, pg 3). Shakespeare s different
forms of work make us question different aspects of our lives today, continuously

The Scientific Study Of Interactions Between Living...
Introduction
Parapsychology is the scientific study of interactions between living organisms and
their external environment that seem to transcend the known physical laws (Rhine
Research Centre, 2013). Parapsychology consists of areas including telepathy (the
transmission of information between people using non of our sensory channels or
physical interaction), clairvoyance (the ability to obtain information about a person,
or object through extrasensory perception), precognition (psychic ability to see events
in the future), psychokinesis (using only the mind to manipulate objects), survival
studies (studies of human consciousness).

The extent to which ESP is believed varies and depends on many factors, for example
profession is known to play some role as a survey of 1100 college professors found
that 55% of natural scientists, 66% of social scientists, 77% of academics in the
arts, humanities and education and only 34% of psychologists believed that ESP is
either an established fact or a likely possibility (Presley, 1997).
The belief that ESP belief is linked to a lower IQ has been proven inaccurate (Roe,
1999) and instead it has been shown how education level can positively correlate
with ESP belief (Rice, 2003). Surveys have proven to find that ESP belief is very
common (Moore, 2005) and a meta analysis has shown that ESP has supporting
research and that the idea of the paranormal should not be viewed with scepticism
(Storm, Tressoldi Di Risio, 2010). However, there have been multiple pieces of
research to show how unreliable memory can be and that cognitive biases result in
events being misinterpreted (Henkel Mather, 2007; Kahneman et al., 1993) so
claims to have experienced ESP have to be looked at critically and with the view
that a person s account may not be reliable. A file drawer problem can also be
claimed. This is the claim that the statistical significance of findings can occur by
chance and that parapsychologists ignore the falsification
I Am Joaquin Poem Analysis
During the 1960 s, the Civil Rights Movement wasn t the only one occurring.
Struggling to assimilate into American culture, and suppressed by social injustices
convicted by their Anglo counterparts, the Chicano movement was born. In the epic
poem I am Joaquin written by Rodolfo Gonzales in 1969, we dive into what it means
to be a Chicano. Through this poem, we see the struggles of the Chicano people
portrayed by the narrator, in an attempt to grasp the American s attention during the
time of these movements. Hoping to shed light on the issues and struggles the
Chicano population faced, Gonzales writes this epic in an attempt to strengthen the
movement taking place, and to give Chicanos a sense of belonging and solidarity in

Many times, these Chicanos were pushed off their lands and forced to try and
survive elsewhere. I owned land as far as the eye could see under the Crown of
Spain, and I toiled on my earth and gave my Indian sweat and blood for the
Spanish master who ruled tyranny over man and beast and all that he could
trample. But... THE GROUND WAS MINE. This is what life was like before the
Spanish American War and before the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This was life
before Chicanos were pushed off their land because Anglos fought the documents in
court. This is before the treaty that was supposed to protect their rights fell through.
This is when life was hard, but it was a life they knew and a struggle they lived
with. Although Chicanos have endured many struggles, this is one they want to fight
for. Chicanos faced another problem along with their land being taken and being
treated as second class citizens. Assimilating into American culture was difficult. Do
you keep in touch with the roots of your homeland or do you change and adapt to
the new ways of American culture? This was a struggle for Chicanos and it was
difficult to adapt. A new language and a new culture in a place they once called their

entirely. This didn t help their sense of belonging, and ultimately casted them farther
as outsiders than before.
Puerto Rico Culture Essay
Puerto Rican culture arises from the mixture of many cultures, among which
distinguish three main ones: the Taino, the Spanish and African. The influence of
these cultures was so strong on the island, which ober the years countless inherited
customs and traditions of these ancestors. Some names of people, food, objects and
household utensils have been inherited from the Tainos. Currently, as the famous

Agricultural Export Commodities ( Stokes Howden 2010 )
The wine industry in Australia is one of the most highly valued agricultural export
commodities (Stokes Howden 2010). Viticulture is an agricultural sector that is
closely associated with climate as the production of unique wine is reliant upon
specific combinations of climate, soils and landscape to create particular styles
(Stokes Howden 2010; Webb et al. 2008). Changes in climate have potential to
adversely affect the quality of winegrape production. Thus, climate change is set to
become a major challenge for the wineindustry, and contest the adaptive capability of
the industry. As a result of the increasing awareness of the potential consequences of
significant climate variability, it is essential that the industry explores possible
strategies to enable adaptation to change.
The Margaret River wine region
The Margaret River wine region of Western Australia is highly regarded as a premium
wine region in Australia (Jones et al. 2010). The production of high quality wines,
however, means that the region has potential to suffer from modifications in quality
by the slightest climatic changes. Thus, climate change has potential to adversely
impact the viticultural industry. At present, the Margaret River wine region
experiences a Mediterranean style climate, with factors of temperature, soil quality
and humidity all well suited to high quality wine production. The economic impact of
the Margaret River wine industry is approximately an annual $250 million. Climate

*Require cleanup of either a corrosive material or a sticky residue after use
*Those labeled as BC are intended for B C fires. Those labeled ABC indicate the
ability to extinguish A, B C fires.
How effective is fire extinguisher #3? Please explain in 2 3 sentences:
Dry chemical extinguishers put out fire by coating the fuel with a thin layer of dust,
separating the fuel from the oxygen in the air. The powder also works to interrupt
the chemical reaction of fire, so these extinguishers are extremely effective at putting
out fire. It is very effective with a low risk of re ignition.

Red Scare, KKK, Civil War Brought Fear to America
Fear The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and
strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. H. P. Lovecraft. In the 1900 s, fear
drove America. The Red Scare was a time when Americans were afraid of the threat
of Communism. In the Sacco and Vanzetti case, two Italian anarchists were convicted
of crimes which they were clearly innocent of. The Ku Klux Klanattempted to keep
African Americans out of positions of power and for brief time was successful. The
Red Scare, Sacco Vanzetti case and the rise of the KKK all are example of how
American s fear the unknown and what we don t understand.
After Red Scare is the term the fear of Communism in America held in the 1900 s.
Following World War I, The Soviet Union, led by Joseph Stalin, began taking over
countries and putting in Communist governments. To make fear worse the
Czechoslovakia was taken over by by the soviet union having spy s inside the
Czechoslovakian government as high ranking officials. This put the fear of God in
Americans because we didn t know who could have been a Communist spy sent
here by Russia destroy America. Few periods in American history have been so
dramatic, so fraught with mystery or so brothing with fear and hysteria as were the
days of the great Red Scare. (Robert K. Murray). Also we saw a rash of accusations
by man named Joseph Mccarthy used his tactic of Mccarthyism to accuse many
innocent Americans of being Communist.

Essay On Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension
Intracranial hypertension is the term that is mostly used for all forms of high
intracranial pressure. There is one form of intracranial pressure that in the 1890 s a
German physician Heinrich Quincke named pseudotumor cerebri which describes a
neurological disorder that has all the symptoms of a brain tumor but without the
presence of an actual brain tumor. This condition is now known as idiopathic
intracranial hypertension. Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a condition that
occurs when the pressure inside the skull increases for no obvious reason. It seems to
occur out of nowhere and without warning which is where we get the word idiopathic
which means relating to or denoting any disease or condition that arises
spontaneously or for which the cause is unknown. Symptoms of Idiopathic

involved in intracranial hypertension is the nervous system including the brain and
cerebral spinal fluid. To treat intracranial hypertension doctors will first try drug
therapy which could include carbonic anhydrase inhibitors or diuretics. Carbonic
anhydrase inhibitors such as acetazolamide will suppress the production of the
carbon anhydrase enzyme which will intern decrease the production of cerebral

production to help get rid of excess salt and water and may help in lower intracranial

Utilize The Processual Theory Of Anthropology
Changes in the objectives of archaeology throughout its development have affected
the varying ratio of scientific and humanistic theory that contributes to it. Prior to
scientific and technological advancement, the purpose of archaeology was to simply
collect and record pieces of evidence in order to fit it into the known parameters of
the current world view. However, modern archaeologists utilise the analysis of
cultural ecology in order to understand human and cultural adaptations to the
surrounding environment (Trigger 2006). Their objective has become to consider
patterns of behaviour in order to track the process of wider cultural change, another
close association with the objectives of anthropology. The genre of archaeological...

Therefore from the viewpoint of structuralism, archaeology is deterministic and so is
finite in its capacity to be scientifically evaluated. (Tilley 1990). Processual
archaeology and structuralism can be applied to branches of archaeology that
emphasize the application of physical and chemical science, such as the use of
carbon dating and molecular genetics, which can be awarded a numerical value and
structure. However, an aspect of the processual theory becomes flawed when
considering that not all archaeology is deterministic, it can instead be considered
humanistic in its origin. The theory could be considered to some extent contradict
itself as utilising scientific quantitative data in archaeology requires some aspect of
interpretation in order to relate it to a social or cultural question. Alternatively,
processual archaeology could be considered to only account for aspects of
methodology in archaeological practise and furthermore does allow perspective in
order to present a humanistic interpretation based on scientific analysis (Hodder and

noise reduction in data analysis
NOISE REDUCTION IN DATA USING POLYNOMIAL REGRESSION
Geetha Mary A, Dinesh Kumar P, Girish Kumar K, Gyanadeep N

dinesh.venkata@yahoo.co.in Abstract: Noise is common in data which hinders the
data analysis. We consider noise as low level data errors or objects that are
irrelevant to data analysis. Data cleaning technique reduces the low level data errors
but not irrelevant objects. To reduce both types of noise there are three traditional
outlier detection techniques distance based, clustering based, and an approach based
on the Local Outlier Factor (LOF) of an object. In this paper we introduce a new
method for noise reduction using polynomial regression and spearman s rank ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the equations we get values for x and y. Now we apply spearman s rank
correlation coefficient ПЃ for the obtained results. If ПЃ Пµ ( 1,1) then the data is not
noise, if the ПЃ value is not in that range then we consider it as noise.
3. Numerical Evaluation Let us take data set as follows
X
Y
5
8
6
9
7
10
8
11
9
12
10
13 The equations obtained from the above data set are
Y=0.990 * x ^ 1.000+ 3.931
X=0.989 * y ^ 1.000 3.249
Now we take another data set to test using above equations and if the results are not
approximately similar to the obtained results for all the models then we consider the
data to be noise or outlier. For example we take the test data set to be as follows,
X
Y
112
125
167
171
For test case 1 (112,125)
Taking x(112), then y=114.811
Taking y(125), then y=120.376
For test case 2(167,170)
Taking x(167) ,Y=169.261
Taking y(170) ,X=166.87
For the obtained results we apply spearman s rank correlation coefficient ПЃ,ПЃ = 1
(6∑di2/n3 n) if the obtained result lies between ( 1,1) then the data belongs to that
set and if not in that range then it is considered as noise or outlier.
By applying for the above results we get,
For test case1 (112,125) ПЃ=1 ((6*((114.811 125)2+(120.376 112)2))/(2*(4 1)))ПЃ
= 172.973
For test case2 (167,170) ПЃ=1 (((6*(167 166.87)2+(170 169.261)2))/(2*(4 1))) ПЃ
=0.436979 so from the obtained results test case1 is considered as noise

Rhetorical Analysis Of All Men Are Created Equal
What does it mean All Men Are Created Equal it must be difficult for President
Lincoln to explain this idea to his audience after the Civil War had just come to an
end, while there is still a little conflict between both sides. To begin with, the
American idea is that all men are created equal and Lincoln during his speech he is
trying to convince his audience that All Men Are Created Equal. Adding on, to do so,
Lincoln wants to dedicate a portion of the land, as to honor all of the brave men
who have given their lives on the Battlefield. Furthermore, Lincoln wants his
audience to put this war to rest and then prepare for a greater task that lies ahead of
them in the future, here are a few examples of what Lincoln had said to his audience.
The Problem Of Crime And Crime
The way that people analyze crime has evolved throughout history and has many
different forms. Today, I am going to briefly explain some of the different theories
that are used to study the subject of crime and criminality. What I will be evaluating
these theories against will be small scale property crimesuch as theft. Anomie theory
states that with the idea of the American dream and economic success that the stress
created by not meeting the American Dream standard creates strain (Merton, 2013).
Additionally, if social institutions are weak such as the family, then the economic
institution becomes dominant and creates an imbalance, which in turn leads to higher
crime rates (Merton, 2013). According to Messner (1982) crime has been
theoretically linked to poverty in both its subsistence and the relative deprivation that
is conceptualized. This just adds support to how not being able to achieve the
American Dream can cause turmoil in the family life and can lead to more
criminality. When used to explain small scale property crime Anomie theory could
explains it strongly. If someone cannot meet the American Dream standard then they
may begin to pursue other means to meeting that goal. This could definitely lead to
many different crimes with property crime being one of them. You can t afford to go
out and buy the American Dream. So maybe stealing the American dream is the next
best thing. Strain theory states that when a person can t obtain success, then that

Religious Conflicts In The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales is a collection of 24 stories written in Middle English by
Geoffrey Chaucer. The tales are about a group of Pilgrims traveling to Canterbury
to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at the Canterbury Cathedral. Out of the
24 tales I have chosen the Prioress to be my favorite. The Prioress was my first
choice because the religious aspect of the tale and how religious conflict has been
such a huge problem for life back then and now. The Prioress tale starts off with a
prologue. The Prologue is about the Prioress (Madame Eglentyne) praying to the
Virgin Mary. Then, the prioress tale begins. This tale is placed in Asia and is about
a boy who walks through a Jewish ghetto in a Christian city. The boy is singing O
Alma Redemptoris, a salute to the Blessed Lady, while walking through the Jewish
ghetto. This angers the Jewish people who were listening to the words of the devil.
They then hired a murder who slit the boy s throat and threw him in a pit. The boy
s widow mother then goes searching for her son and begging everyone, including
the Jews, to tell her where her son was. She then gets an idea from Jesus to sing
where her son was thrown in the pit. Although the boy s throat was slit, he begins to
sing his Alma Redemptoris. Amazed by the boys singing, fellow Christians ran to
the pit and went to get the provost. The Prioress was a religious figure in her tale
and therefore making her part of the ecclesiastical class. She was a member of the
church and
The Role Of A Bondsman
With more and more judges across the United States demanding bail for poor people
who committed a minor offense, it is becoming increasingly important to find a
bondsman that caters to the poor. Often times judges demand less than $2,500 from
defendants, yet those who live in poverty must remain in jail because that figure is
impossible to meet.
The Role of a Bondsman
The service of a bondsman functions as an outlet to help those with financial
difficulties maintain their ability to earn a living. The majority of people charged
with a crime in Los Angeles lose their jobs and only source of income because they
cannot meet the bond requirements. This scenario is where experienced Orange
County bail bond services play a vital role. With payment plans in place, including no

They also inform defendants of current California laws and help keep track of court

of the total bond without any collateral. This service is a tremendous help for those
who live in poverty or currently struggle with financial

Comparing Sacrifice In Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
When making sacrifices, some base it upon something they give up for the sake of
something else whether it s for another human life, an idea, or even belief.
Sacrifices are what we give up to get something better, even if the outcome could
harm ourselves or the people, and or things we love. For example, in the novel Of
Mice and Men a form of sacrificein the book is when George gives up so much for
the sake of Lennie, as requested. The author showed that sacrifice between friends
will make people do whatever they can for a friend (anon). So, if you were given
the chance to sacrifice yourself for others, would you? Like in the play The
Pillowman by Martin Mcdonagh we as readers see the sacrifices the main character

Basement Condensation
Tips For Drying Out Basement Condensation
If you re having problems with a wet or damp basement, the first thing you want to
do is figure out the reason for the problem. That helps you determine the best way to
fix the situation. For instance, your wet basement may be caused by condensation.
If that s the case, you may be able to dry it out yourself. Here are some tips for
dealing with a wet basement when it is caused by condensation.
Control The Climate
Condensation forms on your basement walls and floor when there is a temperature
difference in the basement. If it is hot and humid outdoors and you vent your
basement to the outside or open a window, then the warm air will create dampness
when it enters your cool basement. Water drops form on the walls and floor creating
streaks, puddles, and increased humidity that causes a musty smell. In the winter,
condensation may form when heated hair from upstairs leaks into your basement. If
you control the temperature and humidity levels in your basement, then you can
better control the amount of condensation you have to deal with. Things you can try
include running a dehumidifier, using fans to circulate air, and venting humid, hot air
from a clothes dryer to the outside. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You do this by adding insulation. Wrap insulation around all exposed plumbing
pipes to keep water from forming on them and dripping to the floor. Also, consider
adding insulation to the walls of your basement. Even if you just use your basement
for storage and don t care about its appearance, having insulated, finished walls will
make the walls warmer and less likely to collect dampness.

Edvard Grieg The Troll Dance
There are few pieces of classical music which build anticipation, excitement, and
imagination like the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46 In the Hall of the Mountain King
by Norweigan composer Edvard Grieg. This particular work resonates strongly with
me both because of the games that were played to the musicin elementary school as
well as appealing to my Norweigan heritage. My painting titled The Troll Dance
pulls inspiration from the story of Peer sneaking away from the Mountain King along
with my own mental image of a blurred man that awakens the dancing trolls who

Additionally, as the music increases to fortissimo, it also picks up in tempo, which I

the painting into 4 panels to display my mental image of the story as it correlates
with the changes in the music and drew the figures with a scribble technique to

and recommendations on future tactics to ensure a successful expansion. Zara s
expansion strategy thus far has been quite successful; however, with every new store
opened, its ability to maintain an efficient centralized production system and a strong,
unique culture will be diminished.
Analysis
Let us first consider Zara s main competitive advantage before analyzing how current
and potential future strategies will affect this competitive advantage. Zara currently

It is recommended that Zara maintain full ownership of new stores rather than
choosing to franchise. This will ensure the continuation of the strong Zara culture.
Zara s combination of cutting edge fashions and culture lends itself well to a
European style, fashion conscious consumer. While this type of consumer can be
found in New York, this is not representative of the entire US market. Retailers in
small towns and urban sprawls rely more on a shopping mall atmosphere. Adapting
that strategy would undermine Zara s image. It is therefore recommended that Zara
target only major metropolitan areas which would likely have higher concentrations
of fashion minded individuals.
Zara currently employs no advertising at all. As word of mouth is very important in
retail, this low key approach is in line with Zara s culture. A well structured
marketing campaign could, however, spread the word of Zara s expansion across the
US, while maintaining their mysterious boutique type image. Billboards or print ads
with a teaser approach could accomplish this goal. Advertising will become important
to increase Zara s profile during expansion. Due to its comfortable profit margins, a
modest advertising budget could be afforded.
Zara s US expansion will rely heavily upon continued emphasis on strong IT

In this experiment, a few volunteers were tested to see the amount of pain they

lasted an average of twelve seconds longer than females did. The hypothesis that was
made ended up being correct, that men will last longer than women.
There has always been a stereotype that men can handle pain better than women can.
It could be that women are just more vocal about the pain, and men keep it more to

time that they could hold their hand in the container was measured, and then

temperature was checked and reset back to fifty five degrees by adding or

compared. It was found that men lasted longer with their hand in the ice water than
women did. Males lasted an average of twelve seconds longer than the females did.
Males lasted an average of fifty eight seconds, and females lasted an average of forty

uncomfortable they felt than the males were, who stayed pretty much quiet

Causes Of Juvenile Delinquency
In order to understand the points of view on the causes of juvenile delinquency,
juvenile delinquency itself must be defined. Juvenile delinquency is criminal, or
illegal behavior that a minor participates in. The age of what it considered a minor
varies from state to state. But a minor could be as low as 13 or under, to 18 or
under; after the age that is considered a minor they could then be tried as an adult.
So, what causes a child to become a juvenile delinquent? There are five views that
help to explain why. The first is the life course view. The basic principal of this is
that even as a young child, as young as 2 and three, relationships begin to form that
will affect the child s entire life course. The next is the latent trait or propensity view.
The main point of this view is that the propensity for a child to commit a crimeis
always there but the opportunity comes and goes. The third view that causes
delinquency is the trait view. There are several parts to this view including biological
and psychological. The fourth view is socialization, that the social development can
affect delinquency. Finally, the feminist view. There are typically two points of
views; liberal and critical feminism. Juvenile delinquencymay be caused by
something different for every child but these five views gives a good idea of some
of the main causes.
The Life Course View
The life course view is an extremely influential one in what causes children to be
delinquent. In normal cases a child will learn proper behaviors that will lead them
to adulthood. Each behavior they learn should be done one after the next. But
what if one of these learned behaviors is missed or learned out of order or taught
differently than the rest of society? There are a number of ideas that cause the child
to become delinquent. The age at which they start offending is the first. The
younger the child is when he or she begins interacting with criminal behavior the
more of a risk they have to continue the path of delinquency. (Beach, 1956) In
addition to age, are the social issues a child may deal with. These are referred to as
whole; problem behavior syndrome. Unfortunately, youth that deals with one of these
things probably will deal with more of
The Assassination Of Abraham Lincoln Essay
Sic Semper Tyrannis or Thus always I bring death to tyrants were the famous
words of Confederate actor John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Lincoln at
Ford s Theatre. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a devastating event
that will be forever remembered in the hearts of all American citizens. On April
20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado, Booth s words became a part of another American
tragedy; Columbine high school was the setting for arguably one of the most
infamous school shootings in the history of America. Two average American
boys, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris would make Columbine high school one of
the most famous in the world by taking aim at their peers and teachers, yet few
people know that the notorious shooting was originally planned to be a massive
bombing. One of the boys wore a shirt under his trench coat with the infamous
words blazen on the front to guarantee that their message was understood they were
seeking what they considered as justice when they were setting off bombs in their
high school. The school shooting was not the original plan for the two seniors,
Harris and Klebold had planned to blow their high school to smithereens. Firearms
were suppose to play only a small part the attack or what the boys called Judgement
Day. Jefferson County Police Department, the local department that handled the case,
has recently released the journals of the two shooters; the journals include detailed
itineraries for the attack and all of the trials
Role Of Religion In Ancient Egyptian Culture
For starters, how many of us actually realize how different the role of religion
varies in each culture. In Egypt, religion importance is not the same for someone
else, for example what may be a factor in one s culture may not be a factor in
another culture that one embrace. Unlike other cultures beliefs, Egyptian cultures
consisted of a list of things, for example medicine, art, laws, agriculture and more are
all tied into their religious beliefs.
Also, Most aspects of Egyptian religion can be traced to the people s observation of
the environment. Fundamental was the love of sunlight, the solar cycle and the
comfort brought by the regular rhythms of nature, and the agricultural cycle
surrounding the rise and fall of the Nile. (Brewer, ... Show more content on

Each and every god Egyptians worshiped had more than one power in the eyes of
the believers as well as sometimes some gods had a combination of what individual
gods already had. It is very hard to establish the number of gods that were praised by
Ancient Egyptians. Also, Gods in ancient Egypt were always superior to humans,
they would live their life like humans. The only difference between a human and a
God was the standing possibility to be able to live again. Unlike humans, Gods
were forever immortal. Also, unlike humans gods came in different forms. The
early gods is the fact that a single deity could be represented in human form, in
zoomorphic form, or in a mixed animal human form. Although the animal forms
and therianthropic (i.e., part human, part animal) forms slightly predate
anthropoid manifestations. (Brewer, Teeter, 1). Ancient Egyptians believed in
more than one practice, but it is unlikely that the gods were derived from totemic
animals or that the Egyptians practiced zoolatry (i.e., worship of animals). Rather,
animal forms were probably used to suggest metaphorically something about the
characteristics of the god. (Brewer, Teeter, 1). Some of the things we despise of
now wasn t frowned upon ancient Egyptians religion. For example, The King of
the Underworld Osiris was married to his sister, where he was killed by his brother
and brought back to life by his wife to conceive a son. The son then despised the
Uncle and set out his death wish. ( List of 15 Most Worshiped Ancient Egyptian
Gods and Goddesses , 1.) In societies today, being with a member of your family is
very frowned upon and consider unapporiate. Whereas in ancient Egyptian culture the
importance of keeping the bloodline very pure was more than
Huckleberry Finn Syntax Analysis
Each witter has their own style and uses syntax and diction in different and unique
ways. Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, written by Mark Twain both demonstrate a great
American theme through the use of these three forms of writing. The novel and the
short story consist of the first person point of view style of writing, as well as
patterned syntax sentences, and finally informal diction with polysyndeton.
First, both sources include the first person point of view in which the narrator is
usually the main character of the story that plays a large role in the language
structure, to create this specific point of view. In Chapter 12 of The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, there are multiple examples of the narrator, Huck Finn, speaking
about the plot of the story, directed towards the reader. According to Twain, I
wanted to get aboard of her and slink around a little, and see what there was there.
So I say: Le s land on her, Jim. This quote tells the reader, that the narrator is a
character, himself, in the novel that is trying to make a connection with the reader. It
is easy to notice this when Huck is thinking to himself, and also writes dialogue and
conversations with other characters in the story. The first person point of view is
also present in The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, both the stories
that Twain wrote are similar. An example of the first person point of view present
in the short story is shown in this quote: As I said before, I asked him to tell me
what he knew of Rev. Leonidas W. Smiley, and he replied as follows. I let go on his
way, and never interrupted once. This quote lets the reader know that the narrator is
a character and is also telling the story. The first person point of view is a common
example of style presented in Mark Twains novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn, and the short story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. The
type of point of view used by Mark Twain was used to create suspense that isn t
common among other points of view styles. The reader experiences the events first
hand that occur within the protagonist s mindset, and it is difficult to predict the
Comparison Of Robert Herrick s To The Virgins And
Andrew...
Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time and Andrew Marvell s To
His Coy Mistress both address the central theme of the passage of time and the
adequate use of time. The two different poems were written nine years apart feature
different styles, word choice, and length; however, this does not detract from being
able to discern the similarities. Both poems tell the reader to make use of one s time
on Earth through relationships since life is short and death is final. To His Coy
Mistress begins with a speaker and a woman (presumably a girlfriend) who explains
even if there was enough time that they could not be in a relationship. The male
compliments her body and perhaps sexual interest can be inferred. The second stanza

Theory Of The Principle Agent Problem
In American politics, there are multiple examples of the phenomena known as the
principle agent problem. A principle agent problem is when a person (the
principal) hires another person (the agent) to perform a job that the principle cannot
do themselves. However, the agent in these situations may go against the wishes of
the principle for their own benefit, making the whole exchange a risk for the
principle. In everyday life, an example of a principle agent problem is when a
person hires a mechanic. They hire a mechanic because they don t have the
knowledge, or the ability, to do the job. Unfortunately, the mechanic is aware of this,
and may try to get more compensation by charging for more than is actually required.
In the American political system, a specific example of the principle agent is the
relationship between the heads of the Central Intelligence Agencyand the agents they
employ.
In an arrangement between the Central Intelligence Agency and an agent that they
wish to hire, the CIA compensates the agent with the expectation that the agent will
perform their required task, act covertly, and protect the United States of America.
However, the agent may defect by giving other nations information that they deem is
important, or acting in some other way that may compromise our country, so that the
defecting agent could receive some sort of compensation. Although defectors are
rather rare (as far as we know), when an agent does defect, it has serious
consequences for
Christopher Columbus Motives
Christopher Columbus is an Italian Explorer who had convinced King Ferdinand,
the Second and Queen Isabella the First to fund a voyage to Asia to establish trade
with China, Japan, India, and the Spice Islands to get valuable spices and silks.
Spain went with a foreign explorer because of his benefits over the local explorers.
To see what these people s motives are and what they want I will do a background
check for the King, the Queen, and Columbus. I ll also go through why the King and
Queen went with Christopher Columbuss pitch for his voyage. This will shed more
light on why King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella chose Columbus.
Columbus had been born in the Republic of Genoa in 1451. Columbus had first
gone to sea and was in charge of helping with smaller trading trips throughout the
Mediterranean and Aegean seas. One voyage in the Atlantic in 1476 almost cost
Columbus his life. The ship he was on got burned down and Columbus had to swim
back to Portugal. He eventually moved to Spain after having two wives and two
children. Columbus went on many expeditions to Africa and gained knowledge on
wave currents. Columbus started studying the Asian islands close to India and China
because he had heard of their supposed wealth from other Europeans, he also was
curious about the Canary Islands. Columbus began to propose his idea of a three ship
voyage across the Atlantic to the Portuguese King, Genoa, and Venice. Columbus
requested the Spanish King and Queen Ferdinand and Isabella
Banning Zoos
I think that zoos should be banned because I believe that all animal should have
freedom and not be captured and put in a cage and viewed by people. Imagine you re
at the zoo and you see a lion pacing back and forth what do you think? Is he ok?
One reason I think animals should be released into the wild is the people that work
at the zoo don t build them a normal habit by normal I mean may not be the right
temperature or not good room. My evidence is polar bears live in the cold big
atlantic at the zoo it s warm and small. I Also think they should make the habit bigger
for the animals. Another fact is the zoo s enclosure is 1000 times smaller than the
freedom they get in the wild. That s why i think animals should be free.
The Renaissance And The Art Of The Renaissance
Originating around the 17th century in the western world, Baroque music was a
product of the greater Baroque time period. This period of unique cultural
inspiration began in Rome and Italy, the countries that also initiated the
Renaissance, to spread to the majority of Europe and even parts of Eurasia. This
was a time that correlated with the innovation and thirst for knowledge of the
Renaissance, with music and the arts literally taking center stage in European life.
Music was not only revitalized, but painting, theatre, sculpture, architecture, and
philosophy arose to a height during the excellence of the Baroque time period.
Divided up into 3 overlapping phases or eras Early, High, and Late Baroque the
time period lasted for over 170 years but still lives on as a vital period of western
classical music. The Medieval and Renaissance time period that preceded the Baroque
era from 1600 1760 was sparked by driving factors that initiated the movement of
cultural thought. In the case of the Baroque movement, a combination of factors,
from philosophy and visual art, have influenced this period. The Age of
Enlightenment, or the Baroque period, has extrapolated the trend of innovation from
the Renaissance to the field of music and culture years later. The Renaissance
included the emphasis on natural reality, literature, and an increase in public religion,
science, and even politics. This mindset and cultural revival continued into the late

Descriptive Essay About Eddie Van Halen
For as long as I can remember, my dad always had his music playing. In the car, in
the house, everywhere. In time, his music became my music; and it still is. Though
my dad s music taste was vast, his staple was Van Halen. Little did I know how
much that band would shape me as a person. While most fans were in love with
David Lee Roth, (the singer) I was all about Eddie Van Halen; the greatest guitarist in
the world. The greatest because to me, he isn t just a guitarist. He s an innovator, a
genius, and one of my biggest role models. While I think all art is powerful, it s all
subjective, and to me, Eddie Van Halenis the perfect example to why art is so
powerful. For he has created the passion, perseverance, and creativity that lives inside
me today.
From the moment I heard the majestic scream of Eddie Van Halen s guitar, I knew
I had to learn how to play guitar. I was but only a listener at the time, but the
passion of a musician budded within me, and locked my vicarious attention on
every note. The more I listened to Van Halen, the more I wanted to stop being a
listener, and start being a creator. It was like some insane urge came over me every
time I listened to them telling me to create something. It was a musical high.
I got my first guitar when I was 11 years old. (When the addiction began) Even
though I wasn t very good, each new thing I learned, pushed me to learn more. No
amount of skills and knowledge was enough, and it still isn t. The more I learned, the
Use Matlab to Understand Bonds Valuation
Use Matlab to get an intuitive understanding of bonds valuation.
1. Basic knowledge:
1.1 The price equation and its six contributing factors
As we know, there are six factors that determine the expected price of bonds: the par
value(F), the maturity(n) the yield to maturity(y), the coupon interest(CF), the
interest payment frequency(m), and the interest rates for each period(ri).
We assume that the coupon interest is fixed, then the price of bonds(P)is the
discounted cash flows of each period:
P=i=1nm(CF(1+ym)i)+F(1+ym)mn=i=1nm(CF(1+rim)i)+F(1+rnm)mn
Indeed, to intuitively understand this equation is not easy. Firstly, we can see that the
yield to maturity(y) is a kind of average of the interest rates(ri) for each ... Show more

  • 3. America Needs Its Nerds Summary America Needs Its Nerds by Leonid Fridman proposes a relevant issue that the intellectually gifted students are being ostracized in today s society. Fridman uses parallelism through his sentence structure and in the progression of the essay. The victims of this social injustice are primarily those from the seven countries, especially Muslims, but anyone who has put their faith in American idealism will experience the fallout from this destruction of our constitutional values. When it comes to accepting refugees now, the White House is essentially prioritizing Christians over Muslims from the Middle East. In fact, in an interview with the Christian broadcasting network a few days after the immigration ban was instated, Donald Trump claimed he would favor Christian refugees as an exception to the executive order (Yulas). People with dual citizenship are being affected now as well by not being able to travel freely outside the country without worry they may not be allowed to return. A specific victim of this injustice, Thon Maker, a rookie on the Milwaukee Bucks, is a native of Sudan, one of the seven countries that Trump has banned for travel (Reports). The National Basketball Association is now concerned with Maker s ability to travel with his team to Toronto for future games (Reports). The immigration limitation not only affects people living in the seven countries, but also those who care about upholding our values and human rights

Introduction: In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the Victorian era through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England, women experienced unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. Viticulture is an agricultural sector that is closely associated with climate as the production of unique wine is reliant upon specific combinations of climate, soils and landscape to create particular styles (Stokes Howden 2010; Webb et al. 2008). Changes in climate have potential to adversely affect the quality of winegrape production. Thus, climate change is set to become a major challenge for the wineindustry, and contest the adaptive capability of the industry. There is one form of intracranial pressure that in the 1890 s a German physician Heinrich Quincke named pseudotumor cerebri which describes a neurological disorder that has all the symptoms of a brain tumor but without the presence of an actual brain tumor. This condition is now known as idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a condition that occurs when the pressure inside the skull increases for no obvious reason. To treat intracranial hypertension doctors will first try drug therapy which could include carbonic anhydrase inhibitors or diuretics. Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors such as acetazolamide will suppress the production of the carbon anhydrase enzyme which will intern decrease the production of cerebral spinal fluid which will also lower pressure in the skull. Diuretics will increase urine production to help get rid of excess salt and water and may help in lower intracranial pressure. Doctors may try surgery if medication is not

Utilize The Processual Theory Of Anthropology Changes in the objectives of archaeology throughout its development have affected the varying ratio of scientific and humanistic theory that contributes to it. Prior to scientific and technological advancement, the purpose of archaeology was to simply collect and record pieces of evidence in order to fit it into the known parameters of the current world view. However, modern archaeologists utilise the analysis of cultural ecology in order to understand human and cultural adaptations to the surrounding environment (Trigger 2006). Their objective has become to consider patterns of behaviour in order to track the process of wider cultural change, another close association with the objectives of anthropology. Therefore from the viewpoint of structuralism, archaeology is deterministic and so is finite in its capacity to be scientifically evaluated. (Tilley 1990). Processual archaeology and structuralism can be applied to branches of archaeology that emphasize the application of physical and chemical science, such as the use of carbon dating and molecular genetics, which can be awarded a numerical value and structure. However, an aspect of the processual theory becomes flawed when considering that not all archaeology is deterministic, it can instead be considered humanistic in its origin. The theory could be considered to some extent contradict itself as utilising scientific quantitative data in archaeology requires some aspect of interpretation in order to relate it to a social or cultural question. Alternatively, processual archaeology could be considered to only account for aspects of methodology in archaeological practise and furthermore does allow perspective in order to present a humanistic interpretation based on scientific analysis (Hodder and Hutson

We consider noise as low level data errors or objects that are irrelevant to data analysis. Data cleaning technique reduces the low level data errors but not irrelevant objects. To reduce both types of noise there are three traditional outlier detection techniques distance based, clustering based, and an approach based on the Local Outlier Factor (LOF) of an object. In this paper we introduce a new method for noise reduction using polynomial regression and spearman s rank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the equations we get values for x and y. Now we apply spearman s rank correlation coefficient ПЃ for the obtained results. If ПЃ Пµ ( 1,1) then the data is not noise, if the ПЃ value is not in that range then we consider it as noise. 3. Numerical Evaluation Let us take data set as follows X Y 5 8 6 9 7 10 8 11 9 12 10 13 The equations obtained from the above data set are Y=0.990 * x ^ 1.000+ 3.931 X=0.989 * y ^ 1.000 3.249 Now we take another data set to test using above equations and if the results are not approximately similar to the obtained results for all the models then we consider the data to be noise or outlier. Rhetorical Analysis Of All Men Are Created Equal What does it mean All Men Are Created Equal it must be difficult for President Lincoln to explain this idea to his audience after the Civil War had just come to an end, while there is still a little conflict between both sides. To begin with, the American idea is that all men are created equal and Lincoln during his speech he is trying to convince his audience that All Men Are Created Equal. Adding on, to do so, Lincoln wants to dedicate a portion of the land, as to honor all of the brave men who have given their lives on the Battlefield. Furthermore, Lincoln wants his audience to put this war to rest and then prepare for a greater task that lies ahead of them in the future, here are a few examples of what Lincoln had said to his audience.
  • 26. The Problem Of Crime And Crime The way that people analyze crime has evolved throughout history and has many different forms. Today, I am going to briefly explain some of the different theories that are used to study the subject of crime and criminality. What I will be evaluating these theories against will be small scale property crimesuch as theft. Anomie theory states that with the idea of the American dream and economic success that the stress created by not meeting the American Dream standard creates strain (Merton, 2013). Additionally, if social institutions are weak such as the family, then the economic institution becomes dominant and creates an imbalance, which in turn leads to higher crime rates (Merton, 2013). According to Messner (1982) crime has been theoretically linked to poverty in both its subsistence and the relative deprivation that is conceptualized. This just adds support to how not being able to achieve the American Dream can cause turmoil in the family life and can lead to more criminality. When used to explain small scale property crime Anomie theory could explains it strongly. If someone cannot meet the American Dream standard then they may begin to pursue other means to meeting that goal. This could definitely lead to many different crimes with property crime being one of them. You can t afford to go out and buy the American Dream. So maybe stealing the American dream is the next best thing. Strain theory states that when a person can t obtain success, then that person

The Prioress was my first choice because the religious aspect of the tale and how religious conflict has been such a huge problem for life back then and now. The Prioress tale starts off with a prologue. The Prologue is about the Prioress (Madame Eglentyne) praying to the Virgin Mary. Then, the prioress tale begins. This tale is placed in Asia and is about a boy who walks through a Jewish ghetto in a Christian city. The boy is singing O Alma Redemptoris, a salute to the Blessed Lady, while walking through the Jewish ghetto. This angers the Jewish people who were listening to the words of the devil. They then hired a murder who slit the boy s throat and threw him in a pit. The boy s widow mother then goes searching for her son and begging everyone, including the Jews, to tell her where her son was. She then gets an idea from Jesus to sing where her son was thrown in the pit. Although the boy s throat was slit, he begins to sing his Alma Redemptoris. Amazed by the boys singing, fellow Christians ran to the pit and went to get the provost. The Prioress was a religious figure in her tale and therefore making her part of the ecclesiastical class. Control The Climate Condensation forms on your basement walls and floor when there is a temperature difference in the basement. Water drops form on the walls and floor creating streaks, puddles, and increased humidity that causes a musty smell. In the winter, condensation may form when heated hair from upstairs leaks into your basement. Juvenile delinquency is criminal, or illegal behavior that a minor participates in. The age of what it considered a minor varies from state to state. But a minor could be as low as 13 or under, to 18 or under; after the age that is considered a minor they could then be tried as an adult. So, what causes a child to become a juvenile delinquent? There are five views that help to explain why. The first is the life course view. The basic principal of this is that even as a young child, as young as 2 and three, relationships begin to form that will affect the child s entire life course. The next is the latent trait or propensity view. The main point of this view is that the propensity for a child to commit a crimeis always there but the opportunity comes and goes. The third view that causes delinquency is the trait view. There are several parts to this view including biological and psychological. The fourth view is socialization, that the social development can affect delinquency. Finally, the feminist view. There are typically two points of views; liberal and critical feminism. Juvenile delinquencymay be caused by something different for every child but these five views gives a good idea of some of the main causes. The Life Course View The life course view is an extremely influential one in what causes children to be delinquent. In normal cases a child will learn proper behaviors that will lead them to adulthood. Each behavior they learn should be done one after the next. But what if one of these learned behaviors is missed or learned out of order or taught differently than the rest of society? There are a number of ideas that cause the child to become delinquent. The age at which they start offending is the first. The younger the child is when he or she begins interacting with criminal behavior the more of a risk they have to continue the path of delinquency. (Beach, 1956) In addition to age, are the social issues a child may deal with. These are referred to as whole; problem behavior syndrome. Unfortunately, youth that deals with one of these things probably will deal with more of

The only difference between a human and a God was the standing possibility to be able to live again. Unlike humans, Gods were forever immortal. Also, unlike humans gods came in different forms. The early gods is the fact that a single deity could be represented in human form, in zoomorphic form, or in a mixed animal human form. Although the animal forms and therianthropic (i.e., part human, part animal) forms slightly predate anthropoid manifestations. (Brewer, Teeter, 1). Ancient Egyptians believed in more than one practice, but it is unlikely that the gods were derived from totemic animals or that the Egyptians practiced zoolatry (i.e., worship of animals). Rather, animal forms were probably used to suggest metaphorically something about the characteristics of the god. (Brewer, Teeter, 1). Some of the things we despise of now wasn t frowned upon ancient Egyptians religion. For example, The King of the Underworld Osiris was married to his sister, where he was killed by his brother and brought back to life by his wife to conceive a son. The son then despised the Uncle and set out his death wish. ( List of 15 Most Worshiped Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses , 1.) In societies today, being with a member of your family is very frowned upon and consider unapporiate. Whereas in ancient Egyptian culture the importance of keeping the bloodline very pure was more than
  • 41. Huckleberry Finn Syntax Analysis Each witter has their own style and uses syntax and diction in different and unique ways. Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, written by Mark Twain both demonstrate a great American theme through the use of these three forms of writing. The novel and the short story consist of the first person point of view style of writing, as well as patterned syntax sentences, and finally informal diction with polysyndeton. First, both sources include the first person point of view in which the narrator is usually the main character of the story that plays a large role in the language structure, to create this specific point of view. In Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, there are multiple examples of the narrator, Huck Finn, speaking about the plot of the story, directed towards the reader. According to Twain, I wanted to get aboard of her and slink around a little, and see what there was there. So I say: Le s land on her, Jim. This quote tells the reader, that the narrator is a character, himself, in the novel that is trying to make a connection with the reader. It is easy to notice this when Huck is thinking to himself, and also writes dialogue and conversations with other characters in the story. The first person point of view is also present in The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, both the stories that Twain wrote are similar. An example of the first person point of view present in the short story is shown in this quote: As I said before, I asked him to tell me what he knew of Rev. Leonidas W. Smiley, and he replied as follows. I let go on his way, and never interrupted once. This quote lets the reader know that the narrator is a character and is also telling the story. The first person point of view is a common example of style presented in Mark Twains novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and the short story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. The type of point of view used by Mark Twain was used to create suspense that isn t common among other points of view styles. The reader experiences the events first hand that occur within the protagonist s mindset, and it is difficult to predict the
  • 42. Comparison Of Robert Herrick s To The Virgins And Andrew... Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time and Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress both address the central theme of the passage of time and the adequate use of time. The two different poems were written nine years apart feature different styles, word choice, and length; however, this does not detract from being able to discern the similarities. Both poems tell the reader to make use of one s time on Earth through relationships since life is short and death is final. To His Coy Mistress begins with a speaker and a woman (presumably a girlfriend) who explains even if there was enough time that they could not be in a relationship. The male compliments her body and perhaps sexual interest can be inferred. The second stanza mentions
  • 43. Theory Of The Principle Agent Problem In American politics, there are multiple examples of the phenomena known as the principle agent problem. A principle agent problem is when a person (the principal) hires another person (the agent) to perform a job that the principle cannot do themselves. However, the agent in these situations may go against the wishes of the principle for their own benefit, making the whole exchange a risk for the principle. In everyday life, an example of a principle agent problem is when a person hires a mechanic. They hire a mechanic because they don t have the knowledge, or the ability, to do the job. Unfortunately, the mechanic is aware of this, and may try to get more compensation by charging for more than is actually required. In the American political system, a specific example of the principle agent is the relationship between the heads of the Central Intelligence Agencyand the agents they employ. In an arrangement between the Central Intelligence Agency and an agent that they wish to hire, the CIA compensates the agent with the expectation that the agent will perform their required task, act covertly, and protect the United States of America. However, the agent may defect by giving other nations information that they deem is important, or acting in some other way that may compromise our country, so that the defecting agent could receive some sort of compensation. Although defectors are rather rare (as far as we know), when an agent does defect, it has serious consequences for
  • 44. Christopher Columbus Motives Christopher Columbus is an Italian Explorer who had convinced King Ferdinand, the Second and Queen Isabella the First to fund a voyage to Asia to establish trade with China, Japan, India, and the Spice Islands to get valuable spices and silks. Spain went with a foreign explorer because of his benefits over the local explorers. To see what these people s motives are and what they want I will do a background check for the King, the Queen, and Columbus. I ll also go through why the King and Queen went with Christopher Columbuss pitch for his voyage. This will shed more light on why King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella chose Columbus. Columbus had been born in the Republic of Genoa in 1451. Columbus had first gone to sea and was in charge of helping with smaller trading trips throughout the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. One voyage in the Atlantic in 1476 almost cost Columbus his life. The ship he was on got burned down and Columbus had to swim back to Portugal. He eventually moved to Spain after having two wives and two children. Columbus went on many expeditions to Africa and gained knowledge on wave currents. Columbus started studying the Asian islands close to India and China because he had heard of their supposed wealth from other Europeans, he also was curious about the Canary Islands. Columbus began to propose his idea of a three ship voyage across the Atlantic to the Portuguese King, Genoa, and Venice. Columbus requested the Spanish King and Queen Ferdinand and Isabella
  • 45. Banning Zoos I think that zoos should be banned because I believe that all animal should have freedom and not be captured and put in a cage and viewed by people. Imagine you re at the zoo and you see a lion pacing back and forth what do you think? Is he ok? One reason I think animals should be released into the wild is the people that work at the zoo don t build them a normal habit by normal I mean may not be the right temperature or not good room. My evidence is polar bears live in the cold big atlantic at the zoo it s warm and small. I Also think they should make the habit bigger for the animals. Another fact is the zoo s enclosure is 1000 times smaller than the freedom they get in the wild. That s why i think animals should be free.
  • 46. The Renaissance And The Art Of The Renaissance Originating around the 17th century in the western world, Baroque music was a product of the greater Baroque time period. This period of unique cultural inspiration began in Rome and Italy, the countries that also initiated the Renaissance, to spread to the majority of Europe and even parts of Eurasia. This was a time that correlated with the innovation and thirst for knowledge of the Renaissance, with music and the arts literally taking center stage in European life. Music was not only revitalized, but painting, theatre, sculpture, architecture, and philosophy arose to a height during the excellence of the Baroque time period. Divided up into 3 overlapping phases or eras Early, High, and Late Baroque the time period lasted for over 170 years but still lives on as a vital period of western classical music. The Medieval and Renaissance time period that preceded the Baroque era from 1600 1760 was sparked by driving factors that initiated the movement of cultural thought. In the case of the Baroque movement, a combination of factors, from philosophy and visual art, have influenced this period. The Age of Enlightenment, or the Baroque period, has extrapolated the trend of innovation from the Renaissance to the field of music and culture years later. The Renaissance included the emphasis on natural reality, literature, and an increase in public religion, science, and even politics. This mindset and cultural revival continued into the late 1500 s to spark the

  • 48. Descriptive Essay About Eddie Van Halen For as long as I can remember, my dad always had his music playing. In the car, in the house, everywhere. In time, his music became my music; and it still is. Though my dad s music taste was vast, his staple was Van Halen. Little did I know how much that band would shape me as a person. While most fans were in love with David Lee Roth, (the singer) I was all about Eddie Van Halen; the greatest guitarist in the world. The greatest because to me, he isn t just a guitarist. He s an innovator, a genius, and one of my biggest role models. While I think all art is powerful, it s all subjective, and to me, Eddie Van Halenis the perfect example to why art is so powerful. For he has created the passion, perseverance, and creativity that lives inside me today. From the moment I heard the majestic scream of Eddie Van Halen s guitar, I knew I had to learn how to play guitar. I was but only a listener at the time, but the passion of a musician budded within me, and locked my vicarious attention on every note. The more I listened to Van Halen, the more I wanted to stop being a listener, and start being a creator. It was like some insane urge came over me every time I listened to them telling me to create something. It was a musical high. I got my first guitar when I was 11 years old. (When the addiction began) Even though I wasn t very good, each new thing I learned, pushed me to learn more. No amount of skills and knowledge was enough, and it still isn t. The more I learned, the
  • 49. Use Matlab to Understand Bonds Valuation Use Matlab to get an intuitive understanding of bonds valuation. 1. Basic knowledge: 1.1 The price equation and its six contributing factors As we know, there are six factors that determine the expected price of bonds: the par value(F), the maturity(n) the yield to maturity(y), the coupon interest(CF), the interest payment frequency(m), and the interest rates for each period(ri). We assume that the coupon interest is fixed, then the price of bonds(P)is the discounted cash flows of each period: P=i=1nm(CF(1+ym)i)+F(1+ym)mn=i=1nm(CF(1+rim)i)+F(1+rnm)mn Indeed, to intuitively understand this equation is not easy.
