Civil rights are the rights that every person should have no matter their sex,
religion, or race. These were deprived to African Americans for hundreds of years,
long before the civil rights movement of the 1960s. African Americans were slaves
from the 1500s until the 1860s when the Civil War happened. After the slaves were
freed, there was still a lot of segregation and racismthroughout the U.S., especially
in the South. The government put into place Jim Crow Laws, which were strict
segregation laws that would punish people who associated with people of another
race, if the law forbade them to do so. They also used poll taxes, literacy tests, and
other things of the like to prevent African Americans from voting. White

Instead of interviewing four people, I decided to make an online survey and collect
responses because I was at home for Thanksgiving. As a result I got more responses,
and I think people were more honest as well. I also allowed for the respondents to
choose whether they have majority or minority status. I had nine responses, three
identifying as minoritystatus, five as majority status, and one student who was not
sure, since he/she/they fell into multiple target groups but reported that she didn t
experience any discrimination. There were some interesting discrepancies, since one
female student reported that she was a minority, and another reportedly felt she was
in the majority. At RIT, the distribution of gender differs by program, so this could be
a reason why this discrepancy exists. None of the students who identified themselves
as having majority status reported experiencing any discrimination themselves, and
neither did the one female student who identified as a minority but fell into no other
target groups. One respondent, a self identified conservative, Catholic white male
chose to identify as a minority group. I thought this made sense since college

have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by Against the Gods. I expected this book
to be a typical dry book on a given financial subject, detailing use, application, and
theory. I completely took for granted the fact that math, particularly risk, has history.
The author did a fantastic job of painting a picture and explaining how, why and
when concepts we use today came into being. While reading this book I became
excited about risk and statistical analysis. The author is Peter L. Bernstein graduate of
Harvard, economist, educator, and historian. He lived from January 1919 to June

It was a very profound and eye opening moment for me to see how the author tied
communism to the deliberate exclusion of risk. Any manipulation or attempt to
hide risk changes the outcome and outlook of a situation. This was evidenced in
the Soviet Union when their government tried to exercise control by pushing the
concept of risk out of consideration. The end result was a complete stifling of social
and economic progress. I personally compare this scenario to what Bernstein said

Zone, a fault line that runs seven hundred miles along the West Coast. It consists of
two tectonic plates where one plate is sliding underneath another. In this case, the
oceanic plate Juan de Fuca is sliding under the continental plate known as the North
American plate. In her article, Schulz repeats the words of seismologists and
scientists alike in the opinion that the Cascadia Subduction Zone is overdue for a
magnitude 9.0 or higher earthquakeand resulting tsunami. No one in the Pacific

The study comprised 310 healthy children (150 girls and 160 boys) with ages
ranging from 3 days to 16 years in children in the Eastern Anatolia Region. Children
who had underlying malignant tumors, infections, hematologic diseases, or other
conditions that could alter organ size were excluded. All measured organs were
sonographically normal. One dimension (Midclavicular Line Longitudinal Diameter

Photosynthesis is a fundamental process that utilises light to produce energy. The
energy is initially captured in the form of ATP and NADH in the Light Reaction.
The Calvin Cycle then uses stored energy from ATP and NADH to produce energy

elemental forms, and oxygen and hydrogen are released as by products (Renger and
