The document analyzes the target audience for a thriller film. It determines that people ages 15-25 will be the primary audience due to the language and violence in the film. Research on similar films like Taken and The Bourne Identity found their main audiences were also males and females under age 30. Younger audiences ages 15-21 would be more likely to socialize with friends and play related video games, while those 21-30 would do so less but listen to calmer music. Those over 30 could also enjoy the thriller but be less likely to go to movies as often. Earlier interviews found the main interested audience was between 15-30, especially males.

Target Audience for Thriller
1. Who is the target
audience for my thriller?
By Sam Muller
2. Who is our film aimed at?
After doing research and asking people for their
opinions, we are targeting people between the
ages 15-25 as our main audience due to the
language and violence that our film entails.
3. Similar films to ours and their target
audiences
Taken
As we can see from the statistics for
Taken, males and females under 18
to 29 are the main audience which
is the same as the audience we
are targeting for our thriller.
4. Similar films to ours and their target
audiences
The Bourne Identity
For the second film similar to mine,
The Bourne Identity, the statistics
show that the main audience are
males and females from under 18
to 29 which, again, is the same for
our thriller.
5. Similar films to ours and their target
audiences
Additionally, Crank has a main audience of under 18.
3 Days to Kill also has a main audience of under 18.
6. My target audience
The younger half of the audience that our thriller is aimed at (under 18-21)
would, in their spare time, be socialising and going out with their friends (to
parties or the cinema, for example) and since this is an action/thriller I feel
like they are likely to play video games of this genre too. I think their music
tastes would lean towards rock and alternative. Most of this audience will
be students, going to school or university and so their spare time is limited.
The older half of our target audience (21-30) would still go out with their
friends but would be less likely to go to parties as we go up the age range. I
think they will listen to calmer music than the other half, but may still be
quite similar. Most of this audience will either be at university or have a job
and so will also have limited spare time, but those with jobs will have more
time after returning from work, at the weekend or in the holidays because
they will not have homework.
7. My secondary target audience
Our secondary target audience for our thriller are over 30s as they may also
enjoy thrillers like our main target audience. However, they may be less
likely to go to the cinema as I don’t think they go out as regularly with
friends for occasions like this and are more likely to go out for a meal.
Although, I do feel like they are more likely to go to the cinema than
partying with friends at this age.
This audience would enjoy our thriller as the main character (Sean Finch) is
a similar age and although they may not be able to relate to his situation,
they can relate to him. In addition, they may enjoy our thriller as over 30s
are also a secondary target audience of other thrillers similar to ours, such
as Taken and The Bourne Identity.
8. Evidence from our earlier interview
From our earlier interview video researching our target audience for our
thriller we found that an audience between 15 and 30 would be the main
audience interested in watching our thriller as a lot of them like to watch
action/thriller films, especially males, and so our target audience became
people aged 15-30, but were more likely to be males.
