Who would be the audience for your media product?
BBFC RATING
The BBFC is the UK’s film regulatory service
providing age ratings on films such as 15, 18 etc.
They have the power to remove segments or
completely dismiss films.
After doing our initial ratings research we
designed the thriller around being a 15,
The BBFC would rate our thriller a 15, this is good
as it aims our thriller at a teenage – young adult
audience range and as our research shows, this
range is where thrillers are most popular.

SECONDARY AUDIENCE PROFILE
Our secondary target audience will focus on older people.
A secondary audience is someone who
may have influence or share the same
opinions as the primary audience
making our thriller suitable to their tastes.
Here is an example of an older secondary
Audience individual who would be great
As an audience member for our thriller as
It appears to his personal interests.
DEMOGRAPHIC AUDIENCE PROFILE
We've decided that our main target audience will be made up predominantly of the working
class. The age range of our target audience will be 15 to 30 years old. Our secondary target
audience will focus on older people. The predominant gender is male, because our thriller
relates to crime, which is stereotypically associated with men. Women will be in our secondary
target audience, as although they do watch thrillers, we found that more men were willing to
answer our questionnaire about thrillers. Also our main ethnicity will be white, because the film
is British, and aimed at a British audience, which means the main ethnicity in the country is
white. Our main character is likely to reflect our target audience, coming from a British
background, and fitting into the above categories.
Name: Ben Matthew
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Interests: Ben is a university student, he attends cricket
lessons often but also prioritizes social activity, he
socializes at least once or twice a week. He is studying
sports and works at a retail shop, therefore he has a
regular flow of income allowing him to purchase his
cinema tickets to watch films with his friends.
Favorite movies: Taken, Unknown, James Bond and
the Bourne Identity.
PSYCHOGRAPHIC AUDIENCE PROFILE
Our target is going to be a mix between the Explorer and mainstream profile,
as mainstreamers will be seeking trends and explorers as they will be young
and energetic seeking thrill, as our film is a thriller they sound like the ideal
profile, but if we can make it appeal to mainstreamers then this would boost
our fan base and publicity.
