 The target audience for our thriller is in the age
range of 15-30. We chose this age range because
from our research on other thrillers, this age
group is the one that primarily goes to the
cinema to watch a thriller. The viewing cannot be
any younger due to the violent psychopathic
nature ok our killer, but it also won’t be
enjoyable for older viewers either.
 Also, as our thriller is based around a high school
shooting, where the kids in school are aged from
around 10-17, this would also attract an
audience of this age range as well because the
story is more relatable to them than anyone else.
 The Sweeney
 WAZ
 Outlaw
 These three films are all from the thriller
genre. We can determine the viewer age
range they attract from IMDB statistics.
 Name: Jim Root
 Age: 17
 Job: Student
 Likes: Guitar playing, Metal music, Rock
music, Video Games, Weekends
 Dislikes: School, exams, Pop music
 The secondary target audience of our thrillers will
be the 30-40 group. This is because the film can
still be enjoyed and viewed by this age group as
they are not too old to be uninterested. As our
thriller is about a young psychopath, that’s why the
older audience may find it harder to relate to
someone of that age group.
 As stated before, many teachers are in the age
range, meaning they may be interested in watching
the film as they can find it relatable.
 As our thriller is set in a high school, with a
young psychopathic killer shooting the kids,
we believe that the audience should consist
of the closest age range that are able to
relate. Our secondary audience may also be
able to relate, but not as well as they are now
much older from when they are in school. The
over 40 age group would not enjoy or be able
to relate well at all, so the film is not aimed at
them.
