Goldfish have longer attention spans than Americans. Yes, you read that correctly. As you may already
know, the attention span is the amount of time an individual is able to concentrate on one particular
action. However, you most likely did not know that the average attention span of a human being has
dropped from 12 seconds in 2000 to 8 seconds in 2013. (Brenner) The average attention span of
goldfish is 9 seconds and due to the effects of various sources of media, this is now one second greater
than the average human. Over the years of exposure to social media and live updates, American
culture has progressively shortened the attention spans of our citizens, and this is prevalent in the work

Although there are many different forms of media that have been impacted in this attention span shift,
I would like to emphasize the shift in music sales. The steady decrease in attention span correlates
directly with album sales over the last 35 years. I have selected 3 albums, released in 1980, 1990, and

Abstract
This article investigates the correlation between media multitasking and the differences of working
memory and long term memory in heavy media multitaskers and low media multitaskers. The data
was collected from one hundred forty three participants ranging in ages from 18 35. The study was
conducted from the Stanford University community. The researchers of this study explore the
possibilities of multitasking in relation to working and long term memory. The results showed that
there were four significant findings. A limitation of this study was that the correlation of student
academic outcome and media multitasking was used only by a correlation design study. Although, this
design suggests that a relationship exist between two variables, the study cannot prove that one

Doctor. The book started by giving insight into Claudia s life including her challenging career, whom
she spent her days with and how she used her free time. Based on the title of the book I was expecting
her to suffer from a traumatic brain injury, but I had not anticipated her reaction to it. Although I was
aware of some disorientation after the incident, and even some memory loss, I was unaware of her
disorientation to the life she once knew. Initially, when Claudia did not realize she had any memory
deficits, I was convinced it was due to denial. She was a doctor, I would have thought she would
understand her injury and recognize that her injury was as severe as it truly was. Later on in the book,
I realized that she was not completely in denial, but truly thought there was nothing truly wrong with
her. This could possibly be due to her perspective that nothing bad would happen to her. Every one
sees something bad happen whether it is a car accident, cancer, or a traumatic brain injury and they
think, It won t happen to me. In Claudia s case, it is an extremely frightening and frustrating situation.

men recall memories of their childhood. My Papa s Waltz has a quietly sad, almost resigned tone as
Roethke relives his nightly dances with his father as a young boy. Lawrence s Piano is somewhat

There are two types of Utilitarianism; act and rule . An act utilitarian uses thought process. This means
that every decision made must be well thought out before coming into a conclusion. This mean in
depth calculation or solution to the problem. For example, a person wants to plan a trip for his honey
moon, he/she has a long list of places they want to enjoy their soul mates with. Instead of jumping into
a quick decision, an act utilitarian would sit down and calculate out the utility of all possible decision

interactions. The only problem with all but one of these sexual interactions is that the importance of
sexual acts is missing. When the gravity of the war has sunk into Harriet in World War Two her sexual
interaction with Jeremy is not special. In Days of Significance the war in Iraq has many influences on
sexual interaction, non of which are positive. Also, Overlord and Execution display the lack of
importance and some aspects of objectifying woman. I argue using these sources that in times of war
sex loses its importance and turns into a casual interaction as well as being prevented all the while
objectifying females. To begin, one primary text that illustrates the effect war has on sex is Coventry
by Humphreys. To start off, in the beginning of the text Harriet has sex with her husband. The sexual
interaction between the married couple appeared to be so special the Harriet gave her husband a

Although Zynga has a well planned mission, the problem is that there are not many people who know
how to create these video games. Zynga can create a non profit branch within their organization; this
is where it would be beneficial if Zynga partners with MassChallenge. Since there is a high demand
for students to learn computer science, students should start learning at a young age. Zynga could
create a nonprofit that partners with middle schools and high schools. Although there is already a core
curriculum for students to learn, Zynga can create an after school computer science program for
students to take if they are interested in it. This will be beneficial in the long run because there will be
many students learning how to code. Students who are accepted into the Zynga program since middle
can learn to code until they reach high school. After students make it to high school and choose to
continue learning computer science, Zynga can offer these students the opportunity to work in the
Zynga office as interns. This way students can see the benefits of working for Zynga in the long run.
