My Audiovisual Dyslexia Report
I have issues with a physiological noise caused by my audiovisual dyslexia. I over communicate,
which causes the receiver to receive too much information at once. I have a close friend that is
Swedish so English is her second language. We started taking kickboxing lessons together and part of
the training was going to live kickboxing events to study other boxers. Our first was a community
tournament and it had boxers from age 5 and up. She was mortified that people started training
children so young and stated it was abuse to have them kickboxing at that age. I tried to explain that in
the Hispanic culture it was quite normal and not thought of as being abusive. I immediately started
telling her the history of kickboxing teaches positive

Philippine American Imperialism
Imperialism is the policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military
force. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, many countries would invade or enter other countries
and take over. They would take over by force and rule harshly in order to get whatever it is they
needed from the country. Often, imperialistic countries were looking for raw materials and to better
their own economy by spreading it into the country they took over. The imperialistic America and
Belgium, each imperialized countries creating short and long lasting effects on the people.
In the year 1902, the United States of America imperialized the Philippines. They did it for the classic
reasons; money and raw materials. While they Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Belgium also came to the countries they were imperialising for raw materials and to help with their

imperialized, they each granted independence. After being granted independence, both countries
began a time of instability, proving that the imperialistic countries were needed in order for society to

The Representation Of Interracial Relationships
In the multi cultural society that we live in today, relationships from all different cultures are
welcomed. The mixing of races has been going on for hunherds of years and dates back to the
unfortunate years of slavery. Where the mixing of white and black was a taboo, but still carried out by
the white slave masters on their black maids/ slaves.
In this essay I will be looking at the representation of interracial relationships and how these
relationships have been portrayed in cinema from 1903 up until present. I will be discussing the how
miscegenation has been represented to audiences over the years as a problem, and something that is
unnatural. This essay will be anasyling scenes from movies such as Birth of a Nation, and What ...

It was this filmed that sparked the 1927 production code, which was called the Don t and Be Carful s.
This production code was a guideline for professionals in the industry, on what was not to be depicted
on the screens for audience to watch. The representation of miscegenation was strictly prohibited from
the years 1930 1956. This production code was a reflection of the views that were held in society at
the time. As cinema is often a reflection of society, miscegenation when it is present in films is often if
not always represented to the audience as problematic. The relationships start off great but have a hard
time progressing to anything further as, each side has to deal with problems that they cannot relate to,
or has issues addressing with their partners. These as these were the views of society at the time, the
view that these interracial relationship wouldn t work and were unnatural were projected on our
screens to further reinforce the message to the audience.
Miscegenation was first shown on screens in 1903, in the film What happened in the tunnel? .
Unusually the interracial relationship is not represented in its typical form. There is no physical
relationship presented to the audience, miscegenation is presented to the audience when a white man
catches the eye of a white woman while embarking on a train

A Rebirth In Christopher Nolan s Short Story Memento Mori
Losing My Memory: A Rebirth What like a bullet can undeceive! as stated in Herman Melville s poem
Shiloh helps define the underlying message in the Nolan brothers literary and cinematic works. In
Johnathon Nolan s short story Memento Mori and in Christopher Nolan s film Memento they both
have an underlying theme of death being the great equalizer. In the short story we are introduced to
Earl, the protagonist of the story, who is a presumed to be a patient in a mental hospital. Earl is unable
to make new memories and is only reminded of his past life through notes and tattoos left by old
forms of himself. The clues that the Old Earl leaves the reborn Earl lead him to revenge for his
murdered wife his last memory. The film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Memento Mori utilizes all three points of view in its narrative and Earl and his plight. While the main
flow of the story is told in a traditional third person narrative we still see many examples of first and
second narratives throughout the story. From the very beginning sentence the reader is introduced to
the story in a second person narrative Your wife always used to say you d be late for your own funeral
As the reader progresses through the story there are many references to this second person narrative
You will forget I guarantee it , and Maybe you can t understand what happened to you . These are a
just few examples of how Jonathon Nolan in the narrative of his story seemed to be creating almost a
parallel characterization of Earl. The separate character was almost one of a condescending hurtful
nature who continually torments Earl s predicament. While the story continues into a more traditional
third person narrative there are still parts in which the narrative falls back into first and second person
narrative. In Memento, Christopher Nolan uses the same type of narration through black and white
and color sequences. The color sequences of the film are that of third person as we see the story
develop through the actions of the additional characters introduced into the film. The black and white
scenses as Lenoard is talking throughout the movie to an unknown person on the end sets us up in
more of a first and third person

Seatbelt Persuasive Speech
Every year more than 90 people die in a traffic related accident each year in the united states. Even
though this country is on the lower end of death rate due to traffic accidents in the world, it is still too
high for anyone s liking. I m here to propose to you some methods to lower the annual traffic
fatalities. Many accidents are caused by high risk drivers. A high risk driver is someone who insurance
companies feel are likely to lose them money, due to traffic violations such as getting in a crash while
not wearing seatbelts. Though accidents that become fatal due to lack of seatbelt can also be caused by
the passengers. It is estimated that if everyone wore seatbelts, up to 300 lives could be saved each
year. By wearing a seatbelt, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[Turn on Car and demonstrate]. This, however, only happens for the driver. If we were to make the
alarm go off for every seat and not able to be turned off until after everyone is buckled, it would
motivate people to use their seatbelts. Another possibility would be to install ignition interlocks,
making it impossible to start the car until everyone is buckled. Another way to increase seatbelt usage
would be to increase the police enforcement, specifically during the night. Surveys have shown that
seatbelt usage is 5 10% lower at night. If there is more enforcement during the night, not only would
people not wearing seatbelts be caught more often, but it would increase the likelihood that someone
else would wear their seatbelts as they wouldn t want to get fined. This was utilized in North Carolina
during and experimental time frame in 2007, and increased the usage by 10%. Finally we have this,
this is a feedback sign. Currently found in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and North Carolina, they show the

Methodology For Environmental Assessment Used Here Is Life...
Our aim was to perform a holistic assessment including technical, economic and environmental
aspects, in order to assess the overall sustainability of SBT plant. The methodology for environmental
assessment used here is Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). LCA is a useful tool for investigating
environmental impacts associated with a product, service or process from cradle to grave perspective.
It is becoming increasingly popular amongst researchers in wastewater treatment field nowadays
because of its holistic approach. It has been proved as a useful tool for computation of environmental
impacts of a given wastewater treatment technology (Hospido et al., 2004; Gallego et al., 2008; Li et
al., 2013). Table 1 shows review of studies on CSF technology and table 2 shows literature review on
application of LCA to natural wastewater treatment technologies. Only Worli SBT is monitored and

The Practice of Code Switching
In a multilingual or bilingual environment, use of code switching is a common practice. This research
aims at finding the attitude of students towards code switching on daily conversation. Nipel (2006)
investigates social culture linguistics where students frequently use code switching a lot as not to
break a conversation that they are participating in. Therefore, code switching is always used by
students who are from the same area and speak the same language. The definition of code switching
has been suggested by many researchers in the past. For example, Wardhaugh (2006) in his book
defined code switching as switching from one code to another in order to create a new code. In other
words, it is defined as a form of identity marker for a group of speakers who use more than one
language. Moreover, Myers Scotton (2006) defined code switching as the use of two different
language types in a single or same conversation. Therefore, code switching is the collocation within
the same conversation between two people who use different grammatical systems while participating
in the conversation. Code Switching occurs when two languages are used in one interaction session
between two bilingual speakers (Young, 2014). Code Switching is mostly used in cases where there is
maintenance of two codes in one language used for communication (Olugbara, 2008). In this literature
study, occurrence of code switching among students is evident in the context of the classroom with
students from

Analysis Of The Broken Windows Theory
Gladwell slickly introduces a uniquely reasoned theory, The Broken Windows Theory, a few pages
into The Tipping Point. After explaining that this theory is about immediate environmental effects on
human nature/behavior, he gives examples on how New York began improving after taking it into
consideration. Specifically, this talks about the smallest details of the immediate environment which
ultimately ends up describing the theory to be quite a radical idea. Gladwell mentions that it appears to
violate some of our most deeply held assumptions about human nature, but what does he mean when
referring to human nature? Could it be that it affects the way people see the environment they live in?

Goetz was described of having psychological issues therefore being somewhat mentally ill or at least
not right in the mind and/or emotionally. As stated in page 156,
Psychiatrists talk about criminals as people with stunted psychological development, people who have
had pathological relationships with their parents, who lack adequate role models. There is a relatively
new literature that talks about genes that may or may not dispose certain individuals to crime. On the
popular side, there are endless numbers of books by conservatives talking about crime as a
consequence of moral failure of communities and schools and parents who no longer raise children
with a respect for right and wrong. All of those theories are essentially ways of saying that the
criminal is a personality type a personality type distinguished by an insensitivity to the norms of
normal society. People with stunted psychological development don t understand how to conduct
healthy relationships. People with genetic predispositions to violence fly off the handle when normal
people keep their cool. People who aren t taught right from wrong are oblivious to what is and what is
not appropriate behavior. People who grow up poor, fatherless, and buffeted by racism don t have the
same commitment to social norms as those from healthy middle class homes. Bernie Goetz and those

The Pros And Cons Of Journalism
Journalism is the type of writing that investigates and includes lots of research of good and bad stories
and some events. Journalists tend to write news stories that people should know about and haven t
already heard. Journalism comes in different categories; some are reporters, writers, editors, and
photographers. People who tend to like journalism are those who love language and enjoy writing and
reading, are called journalist; they work as reporters at newspapers, magazines, websites, TV stations,
and radio stations. Good journalists love to read and want to find out what is going on around them
and the world. They write short and long stories as they must write true stories. Journalists write
stories that are from real people and they make the stories real too. People are not interested in reading
newspapers now as much as they used to long time ago. These days people carry news on their iPods,
cell phones, laptops, and more. They can even watch them on TV. A long time ago people knew the
news through newspapers or the rich would have a radio which was the only way to know what is
going in the world, but now news is everywhere.
There are lots requirements needed to get into the program called journalism, how long it takes to be a
journalist, and beneficial to public and themselves. Unfortunately, high school course needed to get
prepared and ready for the career. When a person knows what career she going into when she still in

Mirror Reflection
Who is the boy I see in the mirror? He is over weighted, unsuccessful, paranoid, and insecure. It was a
grotesque reflection of myself and a visualization of a loser. So I was frequently scared to confront my
true self in the mirror and ignored my fundamental problem. When I devoured three plates of lasagna
and every sip of the cream soup that would add another pound of fat and flesh to my stomach, you
should control your eating habits, stopped were two of the many concerned advice that I commonly
heard in a daily basis. But all of them did not understand what I was going through. People always
said that the scoops of ice cream and a stack of waffles were the problem for me, but it was more than
what meets the eye for my situation.
The stacking piles of homework and the mean test scores that always ignored the effort I put in gave
me so much frustration and stress. To overcome all this, I always found myself reflected in the mirror
holding a melting chocolate bar in my one hand and my pencil on the other, sitting next to a pile of
snacks. However, as the weight gauge points to a new higher number everyday, I got more stress from
the humiliating number and the thoughts of others judging my appearance that led me to opening
another candy bar. It was a vicious cycle.

mind when passing by other people in school. However, I always covered all these depression with a

Inquiry Intention Essay
Inquiry Intention:
I come from Republican baby boomer parents, whose parents before them were Republicans and so
on. Growing up, I had strict political ideas fused into my spongy childhood brain without any
realization on my part. I m from a very liberal part of the country, and I remember in middle school,
discussing politics in my civics class, and being confused as to why people would get so mad about
the ideas I held as true. My parents talked about this stuff, how could what they say be lies or arrogant
responses to social issues? I soon realized through discussion with my peers that a lot of the stuff I
said I believed in I really didn t agree with and that my views were vastly different from my parents
and those before them. From there I went super radical liberal, spewing my views at my parents telling
them they were wrong! After countless arguments with them, I gave up. They weren t going to change,
and in my cynical teenage head I decided that this was true of everyone. Nobody changes, nothing
changes, everything sucks. Then I gave up on not only changing people, but politics in general. I just

Rights Revolution In Canada
The concept of the rights revolution in Canada is one that is thoroughly explored by Michael Ignatieff
in The Rights Revolution, 2007. To Michael Ignatieff the rights revolution (the creation of laws
surrounding the rights of a diverse Canada) achieved what it set out to accomplish equal rights for all
Canadians, no matter their ethnicity, gender, social status, sexual orientation, or age (Ignatieff, 2007).
For modern day Canadian families it is important to recognize that this is not the case. In many cases
the laws enacted around family law do not protect the interests of the individual or the group. In
divorce court women are often favoured over men, simply because of their gender. Furthermore, there
are cases where the race of the child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explores the idea of adoption by same sex couples and the adversity they face in becoming parents.
He believes that recognition is the way to achieve equality in adoption. Ignatieff still believes that the
rights revolution has done its duty, regardless of the severe lack of rights for all people (Ignatieff,
2007, 86). The idea of same sex adoption was explored by Epstein, Goldfinger, Ross, and Yager, 2009.
They found that despite the fact that adoption by same sex couples has been legal in Canada since the
early 2000s, there are still barriers preventing them from adopting. Same sex couples often experience
rampant homophobia or heterosexism (the belief that all people should be heterosexual). As adoption
is handled on a best interest policy, it is very easy for decision makers personal beliefs to cloud their
judgement and to decide not to place a child with a family based on their sexual orientation. In spite of
the laws and rights surrounding adoption, many same sex couples are considered unfit parents

Myth And The Myth Of Myth
What is Myth before we begin our long discussion about the changes and how it reflect our society,
one should first know the meaning of it? Myth is something that may be true or not true. It is hard to
explain at one go, we have many historians in the world who always try to break the myth and tell the
world that those are not just myth they are reality and they effect to our social system in many ways.
There are always hidden messages in each and every myth that we have known till now in our life.
According to Claude Levie Strauss Mythical stories follow templates, but they are certainly not stable
or concert. Myth is connected with the rituals and some believe that in the ancient times rituals were
the main aspect by which a person can like himself with the divine god, it was like a path way to a
different dimension. According to historian s myth are considered as stories or event which happened

Summary Of Jacob Struggles With God
Introduction:
Jacob Struggles with God is a selection that came from the book of Genesis chapter 32. Genesis
describes God s creation of earth and his first interactions with human beings. Throughout the Bible,
there are many instances and occasions where the almighty Lord God demonstrates his strength and
power. In Genesis chapter 32, a strange man appeared before Jacob, who is the son of Isaac and
Rebekah, and they wrestled until daybreak. In Genesis 25:23, when the Lord was talking to Rebekah
he said, Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples born of you shall be divided; the one shall be
stronger than the other, the elder shall serve the younger. The story of Jacob, the younger son, and the
story of Esau, the older son is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The timeline of genesis begins with God s creation of earth and ends with the death of Joseph, who
was the eleventh of Jacob s twelve sons. Although it is not possible to date the creation of earth, it is
possible to determine the dates of events in Genesis. The birth of Abraham was approximately in 2166
B.C and the death of Joseph was approximately 1806 B.C. The book was originally written in Hebrew,
and its Hebrew name was Bereshith, which means The Beginning . Eventually it was translated from
Hebrew to Greek in approximately 250 B.C. One of the purposes of writing Genesis was to trace
major historical events from the beginning of time. Many different writers wrote parts of Genesis, but
Moses, the messenger of the Lord, received credit for putting it together.
Genesis 5:8 states, So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died. It is a
mystery to me why not only Seth, but Enosh, Kenan, Noah, and many others lived very long lifespans.
After the first flood, people s lifespans decreased dramatically and the Genesis time period became a
period of survival. Abraham died of old age at one hundred seventy five years. As the story of Genesis
progressed, people s lives became more difficult. They were not technologically or medically
advanced. The life span of an average person became pretty small and people fought for survival
every day. They fought each other for land and for power. Men worked

What Are Cell Surface Carbohydrates
Cell surface carbohydrates are carbohydrate chains that are bonded to lipids and proteins that are
within the phospholipid bilayer of a cell. These are known as glycolipids and glycoproteins; they have
carbohydrate chains protruding from them out of the cell membrane surface. They are the first
molecules to be encountered and recognized by other cells, so they are used to identify the cell.
Carbohydrates are used as the ligand component of glycoconjugates (glycoproteins and glycolipids)
and their structure varies depending on the structure of the molecule it binds to, ranging from small
saccharide units to very large polysaccharide chains. Although the carbohydrate chains are generally
oligosaccharides and can either be straight or branched. Cell surface carbohydrates coat the exterior
surfaces of cell membranes and extend from the phospholipid bilayer into the aqueous environment
outside the cell presenting information rich binding sites and have the potential to carry necessary
information to act as markers for cellular recognition. The anomeric carbon of the carbohydrate binds
to the hydroxyl group present on the lipid or protein through a covalent bond referred to as a
glycosidic bond. The carbohydrate is hydrophilic and contains polar groups that enable the molecule
to be soluble as it forms hydrogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

science countlessly claims to prove Genesis 1 3 wrong. The degree in which a Christian can take both
Genesis 1 3 and science seriously is disputed by scientific and Christian evidence all over the world
but the genuine point is that science interprets Genesis 1 3 wrong, it interprets it in a mechanistic
manor rather than a literary approach. This is influenced by how science reads Genesis 1 3 in a
Mechanistic approach rather than it to be interpreted literary and another point would be how
intelligent design and theistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I have given Genesis 1 3 as an expression of a poem it should not be read exactly like a
poem, more to be interpreted as a hymn, overture, Hebrew poetry or a historian s metaphoric recount
as The essence of Darwinism2 by Kirsten Birkett suggests. This evidence shows that a literal approach
towards Genesis 1 3 would be a sufficient reason in why science does not have any connection with
Genesis 1 3 through the interpretation. Through this explanation it means that Genesis 1 3 and science
can co exist and a Christian can take both seriously.
In saying this it is also relevant that a Christian can take both Genesis 1 3 and science seriously with
the point of intelligent design and theistic evolution. Intelligent design and theistic evolution is another
view that a Christian can take to believe both science and genesis because what science cannot prove,
intelligent design can be a resolution. Although intelligent design and theistic evolution is ruled out in
today s society frequently solely because of how Genesis 1 3 are contradictory to the modern world
and our experiences and there is no evidence backing up the early chapters of Genesis, but just
because there s no evidence doesn t mean that the concept of theistic evolution can be ruled out. For
example a well known scientific explanation of how the earth and universe was formed is the Big
Bang Theory and it suggests that it was set off by an unknown force. This unknown force is right in

Painting Comparison Essay
In both art and science, the uses of color tend to play a role in how temperature is perceived. For art
blues can be perceived as cooler colors, while reds are perceived as warmer colors. But, while in
science the color order is in reverse, reds are perceived as cooler colors, while blues are perceived as
warmer colors. In this paper two different paintings will be discussed to see just how distinct colors
are used to perceive temperature.
The first painting that will be discussed is The Houses of Parliament from Westminster
Bridge by artist Andre Derain. Andre Derain was an artist that was a part of the Fauvism artistic
movement. Fauvism artist emphasized intense colors over the representational and realistic values
retained by artist of impressionism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject matter of romantic painters included landscapes, religion, revolution, and
Woodburn 2 peaceful beauty. On the night of October 16, 1934, fire consumed the House of
Parliament in
London, and Turner decide to capture this event in his own view, and use the painting to represent
man s helplessness when confronted with the destructive powers of nature. In Turner s painting of The
Burning Houses of Lords and Commons, Turner shows just how important the right colors can be to
give a painting a certain feeling. The yellow and orange colors that are used draw the focus to the
center of the painting and this is Parliament on fire. The dark and dreary shades of the blues, and grays
give the painting a sad and depressed feeling. Which is good because it helps to represent the message
that Turner was trying to convey that man is helpless when confronted with the destruction of nature.
From both of these paintings we can see how color can be used to represent different temperatures. In
Andre Derain s painting The Houses of Parliament from Westminster Bridge, the different temperature
of colors is used to give the feeling of brightness, warmth, and life.
While in Joseph Mallord William Turner s painting The Burning Houses of Lords and

Psychological Theories Of Psychological Egoism
Do people really perform actions out of the sincere concern for others or are there always hidden
agendas that are egoistically driven? This dissertation will take a closer look at these questions while
exploring the views of psychological egotism and what its supporters believe drives us to act in certain
ways. Although psychological egoism has not been attributed to many philosophers, it brings forth an
interesting debatable point of view of human behavior. While psychological egoism is unquestionably
a perceived theory, there hasn t always been a substantial amount of experimental data that relates to
the debate. However, there has been a good amount of empirical work that started in the late 20th
century pertaining to the study of psychological egoism. There has since been evidence from biology,
neuroscience, and psychology that has inspired interdisciplinary discussions.
Psychological Egoism is an absolutist theory advocating that human being s actions are ultimately
motivated by their own self benefit and self fulfillment. In other words, the belief is that there is
always an ulterior motive to any behavior one performs for another making such acts beneficial to the
performer in one way or another. One argument for psychological egoism suggests that people just do
what makes them feel good, thereby making all acts selfish. By taking a more in depth view into all
aspects of psychological egoism, one can have a better insight and understanding of why someone

D) There is generally no option to continue the lease at a rent lower than market value.
E) There is no arrangement such that the risks and liabilities involved with the ownership of the asset
would be transferred to the Lessee.
From the above classification we can see that all the points indicate that the leases undertaken by
David Jones Ltd as a Lessee are Operating Leases or Finance leases and can be determined using the
steps above. Being such a big company, David Jones Ltd has both Operating and Financial leases and
they are taken mainly to run the firm s stores and warehouses. Under the annual report for the half
year ended 2013 it is clearly evident that the cost of leasing activities for David Jones Ltd has
increased by 4.17mn. Payments made under operating leases, where the lease agreement includes
predetermined fixed rate increases, are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income on a
straight line basis over the term of the lease. Other operating lease payments are expensed as incurred.
Lease incentives received are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income as an integral

The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes
Green
Paul Forbes
PHIL 231: Practical Wisdom Lab I
September 11, 2017
Reading Assignment: I read one hundred percent of the assigned book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient
Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green.
Précis
During the second through fifth century men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers
relocated to the deserts of Palestine and Egypt and fully devoted themselves to being in constant
communion with God. In their prolific writings, they explained that they were motivated, in part, by
Paul s admonition to pray without ceasing (see Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, I
Thessalonians 5:17). Reasoning that if he repeated this admonition to four bodies of Christians then he
believed that this depth of connection with God was attainable.
Frederica Mathewes Green has written a concise book explaining these early Desert Christian s quest
to pray without ceasing as an avenue to be in constant communion with God. The first third of her
book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God, offers a brief history,
theology, and spirituality of Orthodoxy to introduce the prayer practice commonly referred to as the
Jesus Prayer. The last two thirds uses a conversational question and answer format that takes the
reader through practical steps for adopting this prayer into their daily life.
A main focus of the book explains how Christians can use the Jesus Prayer to overcome one of the
biggest obstacles to prayer, which is the steady stream of thoughts, inner conversations, and emotions
that disrupt the mind and keep it unsettled. Remarkably, they discovered that intrusive distractions
during periods of prayer could be cured with a substitute thought a single, simple thought of prayer.
After experimenting with various short scriptures and petitions, this prayer, rooted in Scripture
emerged, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.
Thus, the Jesus Prayer is drawn from passages in the Gospels where people called on Jesus for mercy.
Specifically, the ten lepers, recorded in Luke 17:13, cried out, Jesus,

companies have warranty plans that seem to be intentionally worded to create ambivalence. Let s face

vague, hard to interpret rules if you ever need support or assistance with an issue. And, even with a

Essay on Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 20
Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 20
Sonnet 20 appears to be about an affectionate love that the speaker develops for an unnamed man. He
describes the man as having a woman s face that Nature painted with its own hand. The speaker calls
this admired person his master mistress. He goes on to say that this man has the gentle heart of a
woman but is not inconsistent as is the way with women. He has eyes that are brighter than the eyes of
any women. His eyes are so true and sincere that they light up every object that they look upon. He is
a man of shape and form (and of authority) and all other figures are in his control. Furthermore, he
steals the attention of men and amazes the hearts of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although during the Renaissance, the friendships between men were usually openly affectionate,
Sonnet 20 reveals a homosexual desire that the poet seems to be obsessed with.
The Shakespearean sonnet does not follow the ideal form of an iambic pentameter. Shakespeare plays
with this poem and deliberately stretches each line so that all fourteen lines end with an eleventh
syllable. The feet have been marked and each line is left with an extra syllable at the end. Shakespeare
was well aware of the iambic pentameter in writing his poems. Therefore, each feet is unstressed
stressed. Stressing the last syllable of each sentence shows the significance of that last word and its
meaning. In this case, each word at the end of every line ends in an unstressed syllable. To keep the
model of an iambic pentameter, the short syllables at the end of each line has been omitted. Most feet
follows the iambic form. However, there are few that do not because a poet cannot change the way a
word is normally pronounced. For example, Hast thou is a trochee but quickly preceding it is an
iambic, which, once again, keeps with the traditional form (line 2). The same holds true in this next
example. Mine be appears to be a spondee but that pattern breaks with the next feet of an iambic (line
6).
On the other hand, Sonnet 20 does follow the

Human Sacrifice In The Aztec Religion
ESSAY QUESTION #1:
The idea of human sacrifice leaves a bad taste in the typical Christian s mouth. In comparison to a first
world point of view, the Aztecs outlook seemed incredibly primitive. Simply put, human sacrifice
would not be in my grandmother s agenda; not in her day, not in her week, not in her lifetime.
However, this would not be the case if she were as invested in the Aztec religion of 1349 CE.
During this time period, human sacrifice was a powerful form of religious practice in many
Mesoamerican cultures. More often than not, the spiritual performance began with war rather than the
modern Christian s custom of attending church. The Aztec nation housed a surplus of young, strong
men and as a result, was a powerhouse in battle due to their immense military power. Each war
occurred for the sole purpose of capturing victims for sacrificial ceremonies. Due to their obsessive
nature over war, body counts were considered to be of vast important in this community and it was a
huge ordeal for the warrior who performed a capture, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which brings me to the question: why doesn t Christianity incorporate the idea of God feeling irritated
with his creations? We do not seem to be influencing much positive change on Earth, but rather
destroying what we have been given. Why does this God allow his human creations to devour his
world so mercilessly and all the while not require some form of more extreme ritual? Attending
church service seems incredibly mundane in comparison to the intensity of human sacrifice in
Mesoamerican culture. Is listening to a man or woman interpret the Bible for a short forty five minute
period simply enough for this God? I find it interesting that the Aztecs feel as if they owe it to their
gods for creating them, while Christians aim to simply be faithful enough to gain access to heaven

My mother was in the room. And it was perhaps the first time she had heard me give a lengthy speech

into American culture while also keeping familial culture. A piece of heritage that uses a language of
intimacy, a different sort of English that relates to family talk. Tan grew up with this language and she
still uses it with her mother, husband and in her books. (418) Another method to find identity in a new
host society is through appearance. In the essay, No Name Woman by Maxine Kingston ideals in
appearance were passed from generation to generation. Altering ideals when creating identity is
noticed in Kingston s essay. A long held tradition in many Chinese families is that many generations
live under the same roof and this can cause a conflict in ideals. Conflicting ideals between generations
is shown as Tan tells how the younger generation hid the identities of their sexual color and their
character. Hiding these new identities they hoped to avoid potential conflict with generational ideals.

This is one evidence of how much Canada cares about national security and is willing to go to any

This speech made by Pierre Trudeau shows how much the Canadian government cares about doing

government wants to protect its national security, and at the same time wants to do it in a way that

Chronic Asthma
Asthma
Asthma is one of the most prevalent respiratory diseases. It is a chronic condition with recurring,
exacerbations characterized by bronchial hyper responsiveness and inflammation leading to airflow
obstruction (Cabana, et al., 2014). Over time, the chronic inflammation may cause permanent damage
to the airway (Wenzel, 2012). Asthma affects people of all ages but typically begins in childhood
(Wenzel, 2012). This paper will explore the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and
acute asthma exacerbation. Additionally, it will cover how age and behavior can impact the
pathophysiology and influence the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Finally, mind maps will

of both the chronic and acute phase of asthma.

In most cases it starts in childhood or early adulthood. However, it can happen later in life. Unlike
childhood asthma, adult onset asthma often has persistent symptoms (Wenzel, 2012). A large
percentage of adult onset asthma is brought on by allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Childhood asthma can
lie dormant for a number of years and reappear in late adulthood (Wenzel, 2012).
Asthma may show symptoms of other diseases in an adult such as heart failure, COPD, rheumatic
arthritis or stomach problems (Levy, et al., 2014). Therefore, age will have the greatest impact on
diagnosis. A nurse practitioner must be aware of how adult onset asthma may mimic symptoms of
other expected age related ailments. As a larger portion of adult onset asthma is initiated by allergies,
acute pathophysiology may more closely resemble that of allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Treatment for
adult onset would be focused on maintaining as it is predominantly chronic in nature. Additionally, a

Analysis Of She Walks In Beauty By George Gordon Byron
George Gordon Byron is probably one of the best known English romantic poets. Although Byron s
poetry was prominent urging the era he was writing, it was also often considered as immoral. Lord
Byron s She Walks in Beauty is regarded as one of his loveliest short lyric poems ; his use of imagery,
symbolism, and rhyme scheme allows the reader to experience the perfection of love. George Gordon
Byron, also known as Lord Byron was born in London. He was born January 22, 1788. Byron was the
biological son to Catherine Gordon and Captain John Mad Jack Byron. He was born with a clubbed
foot. When Byron was little he tried to get it corrected. He had a crazy doctor that gave him traumatic
treatments. After going through the pain, doctors then prescribed a corrective boot. Byron barely wore
it though. In 1789 Byron moved in with his mom. She was emotionally unstable which took a toll on
Byron. While getting his foot looked at and worked on a Presbyterian nurse got Byron to find a love
for the Bible. When young he got into school, which helped him find the passion to read, and a
passion for history. These experiences started his love for writing in the 1800s (poetryfoundation.org).
Lord Byron started writing in the 1800s. He was a poet that wrote Romance poems. Byron was so into
this style of writing, because everything he wrote about pertained to his life

Taking a Look at the Linotype Machine
In 1885 the printing of information would change dramatically upon the invention of the Linotype
machine. Ottmar Mergenthaler s invention fostered a thriving print culture in American history. This
machine increased the production of printing with the advanced procedure known as line casting. This
allowed text to be printed one line at a time, instead of printing one typeset at a time. This complex yet
innovative machine allowed companies such as newspapers to educate the masses in a rapid manner.
By the twentieth century, many countries were using the new typesetting machine to educate its own
people in a fast and coast efficient manner.
The Linotype machine was invented by Ottmar Mergenthaler. Mergenthaler was a German
watchmaker who migrated to America in early 1870 s. While Mergenthaler was still in his twenties he
moved to Baltimore where he began to work on machines that were used in print production. These
machines were structured to preform typewriting and lithography functions. Mergenthaler began to
envision a machine that could produce multiple castings of type. During this period there were many
inventors working on typesetting innovations. Ottmar not only wanted his machine to produce cast
type, but he wanted it to produce type in lines of text at the same time. He also wanted the machine to
stamp out matrices and cast the metal as well. To accomplish his goal, Mergenthaler went through a
lot of trial and error. By 1885 the Linotype machine was a success.

The Importance Of Violent Crime
The last distinction between Saratoga County and Bronx County is violent crime. The measuring for
the violent crimes is through the amount of reported violent crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery in
100,000 people. Violent crime can cause people afraid to exercise outside, elevate the stress level in
daily activities, and increase the prevalence of other related diseases ( Violent Crime Description ,
2017). The data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute ( Compare Counties ,
2017) addressed that, the amount of violent crime in New York City is 394, in the Bronx is 621 and in
Saratoga is 80. From the interpretation of these data, the information can be understood that the
amount of violent crime in Bronx County is higher than Saratoga County and overall New York City.
Saratoga County is even much lower than the overall New York City. When it is applied to knowledge,
a lower number of violent crime in a population, the healthier they will be. Consequently, Saratoga
County is healthier than Bronx County.
Where does the data come from and how fair are the measures in county health rankings? I will
review the measures of adult obesity, injury death, and adult smoking to answer these questions.
The first measure is adult obesity, which use BRFSS method. It is a continuing state level telephone
survey to the population who older than eighteen years old ( Adult Obesity , 2017). The BRFSS

Requirements for a Career as Licensed Funeral Director Essay
Your cell phone rings in the middle of the night and you are notified that you have to go to work. After
hastily getting ready, you find yourself walking down a hallway; you turn into an empty doorway and
enter a dark, cold room that is filled with lifeless bodies waiting to be attended to. This may be an
unfavorable situation to many, but to a funeral director, it is just another day at work. In order to
become a funeral director, one must be genuinely interested, willing to fulfill the job requirements, be
able to cope with death on a daily basis, and still maintain a positive outlook on life.
Usually, people take on the profession of becoming a funeral director, or mortician, because of
exposure to a family business or pure interest. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They must also attain a state license in order to practice what they have studied (Education Portal.
2014.). Internships are not always paid so one must really love what they are instructed to do in order
to pursue their goals of becoming a mortician. Not many people are willing to work for free for such
an elongated period of time. In New Jersey, funeral directors are also embalmers. In other states, it
may be more common to find that the funeral director and embalmer are two different people (Park
Mustacchio. 2013). Kevin Sinclair, an embalmer of twenty two years, advocates for a person to have a
certain personality in order to become an embalmer (Bradley.2013). He does this because like
everyone may know, it can be traumatic (Bradley.2013.). Anyone may be want to become a funeral
director or an embalmer, but it requires a lot of emotional stability to deal with many dead bodies that
have been distorted because of an accident. Another mortician humorously said from his past
experiences, If you can be a successful waiter, you can be a successful funeral director (Giang. 2013.).
The comparison between the two occupations may open one s eyes to a different kind of perspective.
For example, a waiter would be accustomed to a pizza being placed in an oven just as a funeral
director would be accustomed to a corpse being placed in a crematory to be cremated. Dealing with
death, more so cadavers, takes a large amount of self discipline and

Essentials Of Progression
The Essentials of Progression Modern society is affected by technology in various ways as it
dominates and prevails in our everyday lives. Technology has had a greater impact on humankind
progression than anything we ve seen in mankind s existence. It has had both positive and negative
effects on humanity. With new innovations emerging everyday, it is certain that technology
advancements will continue to effect our future generations drastically. Some people believe
technology impedes society s progression by causing sedentary or laziness, isolation, concentration
problems, and eliminates certain jobs that were once done by humans. These negative effects may be
true, but according to Kevin Kelly s Better than Human: Why Robots Will and Must Take ... Show

Without technology there would be no economical growth, limited jobs, increased income inequality,
and decreased life expectancy. There is no way to totally eliminate the negative effects of technology,
but there are ways to improve our digital tools in order to help prevent further negative effects from
being created. We will never know what will affect us in the future, or which jobs will be taken over
by technological advancements, nor which jobs will be introduced to us until that time comes. The
future may be intimidating to some, but I believe the future holds incredible developments and
accomplishments that no human has ever dreamed

We started taking kickboxing lessons together and part of the training was going to live kickboxing events to study other boxers. Our first was a community tournament and it had boxers from age 5 and up. She was mortified that people started training children so young and stated it was abuse to have them kickboxing at that age. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, many countries would invade or enter other countries and take over. The mixing of races has been going on for hunherds of years and dates back to the unfortunate years of slavery. Where the mixing of white and black was a taboo, but still carried out by the white slave masters on their black maids/ slaves. In this essay I will be looking at the representation of interracial relationships and how these relationships have been portrayed in cinema from 1903 up until present. I will be discussing the how miscegenation has been represented to audiences over the years as a problem, and something that is unnatural. It was this filmed that sparked the 1927 production code, which was called the Don t and Be Carful s. This production code was a guideline for professionals in the industry, on what was not to be depicted on the screens for audience to watch. The representation of miscegenation was strictly prohibited from the years 1930 1956. This production code was a reflection of the views that were held in society at the time. As cinema is often a reflection of society, miscegenation when it is present in films is often if not always represented to the audience as problematic. The relationships start off great but have a hard time progressing to anything further as, each side has to deal with problems that they cannot relate to, or has issues addressing with their partners. These as these were the views of society at the time, the view that these interracial relationship wouldn t work and were unnatural were projected on our screens to further reinforce the message to the audience. Miscegenation was first shown on screens in 1903, in the film What happened in the tunnel? . Unusually the interracial relationship is not represented in its typical form. A Rebirth In Christopher Nolan s Short Story Memento Mori Losing My Memory: A Rebirth What like a bullet can undeceive! as stated in Herman Melville s poem Shiloh helps define the underlying message in the Nolan brothers literary and cinematic works. In Johnathon Nolan s short story Memento Mori and in Christopher Nolan s film Memento they both have an underlying theme of death being the great equalizer. In the short story we are introduced to Earl, the protagonist of the story, who is a presumed to be a patient in a mental hospital. Memento Mori utilizes all three points of view in its narrative and Earl and his plight. While the main flow of the story is told in a traditional third person narrative we still see many examples of first and second narratives throughout the story. From the very beginning sentence the reader is introduced to the story in a second person narrative Your wife always used to say you d be late for your own funeral As the reader progresses through the story there are many references to this second person narrative You will forget I guarantee it , and Maybe you can t understand what happened to you . These are a just few examples of how Jonathon Nolan in the narrative of his story seemed to be creating almost a parallel characterization of Earl. The separate character was almost one of a condescending hurtful nature who continually torments Earl s predicament. While the story continues into a more traditional third person narrative there are still parts in which the narrative falls back into first and second person narrative. In Memento, Christopher Nolan uses the same type of narration through black and white and color sequences. The color sequences of the film are that of third person as we see the story develop through the actions of the additional characters introduced into the film. A high risk driver is someone who insurance companies feel are likely to lose them money, due to traffic violations such as getting in a crash while not wearing seatbelts. If we were to make the alarm go off for every seat and not able to be turned off until after everyone is buckled, it would motivate people to use their seatbelts. Another possibility would be to install ignition interlocks, making it impossible to start the car until everyone is buckled. Another way to increase seatbelt usage would be to increase the police enforcement, specifically during the night. Surveys have shown that seatbelt usage is 5 10% lower at night. If there is more enforcement during the night, not only would people not wearing seatbelts be caught more often, but it would increase the likelihood that someone else would wear their seatbelts as they wouldn t want to get fined. • 9. The Practice of Code Switching In a multilingual or bilingual environment, use of code switching is a common practice. This research aims at finding the attitude of students towards code switching on daily conversation. Nipel (2006) investigates social culture linguistics where students frequently use code switching a lot as not to break a conversation that they are participating in. Therefore, code switching is always used by students who are from the same area and speak the same language. The definition of code switching has been suggested by many researchers in the past. For example, Wardhaugh (2006) in his book defined code switching as switching from one code to another in order to create a new code. In other words, it is defined as a form of identity marker for a group of speakers who use more than one language. Moreover, Myers Scotton (2006) defined code switching as the use of two different language types in a single or same conversation. Therefore, code switching is the collocation within the same conversation between two people who use different grammatical systems while participating in the conversation. Code Switching occurs when two languages are used in one interaction session between two bilingual speakers (Young, 2014). Code Switching is mostly used in cases where there is maintenance of two codes in one language used for communication (Olugbara, 2008). These are known as glycolipids and glycoproteins; they have carbohydrate chains protruding from them out of the cell membrane surface. They are the first molecules to be encountered and recognized by other cells, so they are used to identify the cell. Carbohydrates are used as the ligand component of glycoconjugates (glycoproteins and glycolipids) and their structure varies depending on the structure of the molecule it binds to, ranging from small saccharide units to very large polysaccharide chains. This evidence shows that a literal approach towards Genesis 1 3 would be a sufficient reason in why science does not have any connection with Genesis 1 3 through the interpretation. Through this explanation it means that Genesis 1 3 and science can co exist and a Christian can take both seriously. In saying this it is also relevant that a Christian can take both Genesis 1 3 and science seriously with the point of intelligent design and theistic evolution. This dissertation will take a closer look at these questions while exploring the views of psychological egotism and what its supporters believe drives us to act in certain ways. Although psychological egoism has not been attributed to many philosophers, it brings forth an interesting debatable point of view of human behavior. While psychological egoism is unquestionably a perceived theory, there hasn t always been a substantial amount of experimental data that relates to the debate. However, there has been a good amount of empirical work that started in the late 20th century pertaining to the study of psychological egoism. Jesus Prayer Analysis Précis The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green Paul Forbes PHIL 231: Practical Wisdom Lab I September 11, 2017 Reading Assignment: I read one hundred percent of the assigned book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green. Précis During the second through fifth century men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers relocated to the deserts of Palestine and Egypt and fully devoted themselves to being in constant communion with God. In their prolific writings, they explained that they were motivated, in part, by Paul s admonition to pray without ceasing (see Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, I Thessalonians 5:17). Reasoning that if he repeated this admonition to four bodies of Christians then he believed that this depth of connection with God was attainable. Frederica Mathewes Green has written a concise book explaining these early Desert Christian s quest to pray without ceasing as an avenue to be in constant communion with God. The first third of her book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God, offers a brief history, theology, and spirituality of Orthodoxy to introduce the prayer practice commonly referred to as the Jesus Prayer. The last two thirds uses a conversational question and answer format that takes the reader through practical steps for adopting this prayer into their daily life. A main focus of the book explains how Christians can use the Jesus Prayer to overcome one of the biggest obstacles to prayer, which is the steady stream of thoughts, inner conversations, and emotions that disrupt the mind and keep it unsettled. Remarkably, they discovered that intrusive distractions during periods of prayer could be cured with a substitute thought a single, simple thought of prayer. After experimenting with various short scriptures and petitions, this prayer, rooted in Scripture emerged, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me. Thus, the Jesus Prayer is drawn from passages in the Gospels where people called on Jesus for mercy. Specifically, the ten lepers, recorded in Luke 17:13, cried out, Jesus, ... Warranty Memo Renewal by Andersen of New Jersey New York Metro replacement windows come with our exclusive 20/2/10 warranty that gives you peace of mind your windows will perform as represented for as long as you live in your home. But, what does that really mean? Warranty claims can be confusing and misleading for some consumers. Does a lifetime warranty mean you re cover for your life time? Until the home collapses? Until the window shouldn t be expected to maintain structural integrity and beauty? Consumers have a right to understand what replacement window dealers are offering before they invest in new windows for their home. Here are a few things to look for as you consider companies and warranty packages. All Promises, No Solutions Sadly, some replacement window companies have warranty plans that seem to be intentionally worded to create ambivalence. Let s face it, even though there are exceptionally manufactured replacement windows and patio doors that truly will last for decades, there are cheap imitations that come with a very limited coverage term and vague, hard to interpret rules if you ever need support or assistance with an issue. And, even with a superb warranty, defects occasionally cause a problem. Plus, improper installation may void certain parts of your warranty. So, whenever possible, consumers should choose a local company with a solid reputation for only promising things they can delivery on, and then delivering with a smile when something comes up. ... He describes the man as having a woman s face that Nature painted with its own hand. The speaker calls this admired person his master mistress. He goes on to say that this man has the gentle heart of a woman but is not inconsistent as is the way with women. He has eyes that are brighter than the eyes of any women. His eyes are so true and sincere that they light up every object that they look upon. He is a man of shape and form (and of authority) and all other figures are in his control. Furthermore, he steals the attention of men and amazes the hearts of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although during the Renaissance, the friendships between men were usually openly affectionate, Sonnet 20 reveals a homosexual desire that the poet seems to be obsessed with. The Shakespearean sonnet does not follow the ideal form of an iambic pentameter. Shakespeare plays with this poem and deliberately stretches each line so that all fourteen lines end with an eleventh syllable. The feet have been marked and each line is left with an extra syllable at the end. Shakespeare was well aware of the iambic pentameter in writing his poems. Therefore, each feet is unstressed stressed. Stressing the last syllable of each sentence shows the significance of that last word and its meaning. In this case, each word at the end of every line ends in an unstressed syllable. To keep the model of an iambic pentameter, the short syllables at the end of each line has been omitted. Most feet follows the iambic form. However, there are few that do not because a poet cannot change the way a word is normally pronounced. For example, Hast thou is a trochee but quickly preceding it is an iambic, which, once again, keeps with the traditional form (line 2). The same holds true in this next example. Mine be appears to be a spondee but that pattern breaks with the next feet of an iambic (line 6). On the other hand, Sonnet 20 does follow the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Human Sacrifice In The Aztec Religion ESSAY QUESTION #1: The idea of human sacrifice leaves a bad taste in the typical Christian s mouth. In comparison to a first world point of view, the Aztecs outlook seemed incredibly primitive. Simply put, human sacrifice would not be in my grandmother s agenda; not in her day, not in her week, not in her lifetime. However, this would not be the case if she were as invested in the Aztec religion of 1349 CE. During this time period, human sacrifice was a powerful form of religious practice in many Mesoamerican cultures. More often than not, the spiritual performance began with war rather than the modern Christian s custom of attending church. The Aztec nation housed a surplus of young, strong men and as a result, was a powerhouse in battle due to their immense military power. Each war occurred for the sole purpose of capturing victims for sacrificial ceremonies. Due to their obsessive nature over war, body counts were considered to be of vast important in this community and it was a huge ordeal for the warrior who performed a capture, ... Attending church service seems incredibly mundane in comparison to the intensity of human sacrifice in Mesoamerican culture. Is listening to a man or woman interpret the Bible for a short forty five minute period simply enough for this God? By the twentieth century, many countries were using the new typesetting machine to educate its own people in a fast and coast efficient manner.
