Essay about Monster s Inc.
Monster s Inc. Monster s Inc. is a fictional tale about two monsters facing adversity. The soundtrack
original score was composed and conducted by Randy Newman for Pixar. The album was nominated
for the Academy Award for Best Original Score and a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack
Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. The score lost both these awards to
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, but after 16 nominations, the song If I Didn t
Have You won Newman his first Academy Award for Best Original Song. It also won a Grammy for
Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. In the opening credits, a

for this part of the movie. The score was called Boo s Adventures in Monstropolis, in this score a
character theme was introduced. The theme was light and happy to portray the girl s ignorance and
innocence but at the same time loud, dramatic notes to emphasize what was happening in the scene
played over it. Mike and Sulley go through many challenges trying to get Boo back to her door, at one
point they even thought she was dead. During that scene Boo s character theme was played along with
soft dissonant notes to play simultaneously together. The last two songs of the movie were Kitty and If
I didn t have you. Kitty played when Mike and Sulley finally got Boo back to her door and it was time
for her to leave, the music was melancholy the way the characters felt about their separation. Lastly If
I didn t have You was the popular song in the whole movie at the end. The song expressed how the

Notably, a proper and intricate study of the interviewees reveals that Dave Arenburg, the Chief
Executive Officer of Adcor marketing practices change management as part of his normal day.
Actually, this is dint of the fact that his day is spent in coordinating, directing and following up with
the management team to make sure that they are responding to the performance goals. As a matter of
fact, Daren Arenburg is involve in change management daily because in daily basis he endeavors to
make relevant changes as pertains certain troubles that occur in the organization to the tune of
breaking of equipment, issues relating to human resources, in addition to challenges relating to

The Canadian Border Services Agency
In today s society, both male and female are expected to play specific gender roles. In Canada women
and men are thought of as equal, having the same rights to respect, autonomy, and independence
(Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 39). The Canadian Border Services Agency ignored this right when the
agency allowed religious travelers to avoid female guards. Although men and women may have
different roles in their households and communities, their work and activities are equally valued and
socially rewarded (Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 39). These roles play an important part in shaping the
way individuals think about others in society. The CBSA should not have approved the request of the
religious travelers as it devalued the female guards rights by promoting gender inequality and male
dominance.
The approval of the males request raises the gender issue of gender inequality. Specifically because of
their gender, the female guards could not perform their regular duties as a CBSA officer. Women and
men should be thought of as equal by having the same rights to respect, autonomy, and independence
(Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 39). In certain societies, women are targeted as weak and unable to fulfill
certain male positions. It is argued by Bonvillain and Miller on page 41 ... that other tasks assigned to
men and women may not be considered equivalent or equally valuable . The five males did not take
the female guards occupation seriously as they felt the males would perform the job

Comparison Of King Louis XIV And Moctezuma II
King Louis XIV (The Fourteenth) and Moctezuma II (The Second) were similar in a large variety of
ways. The two rulers may have been separated by a large body of water and their lives many years
apart, but they shared characteristics in the way that they showed their power, what type of Absolute
Monarch they were. Moctezuma II was placed in power as the ruler of the Aztecs when his uncle,
Ahuitzotl, died in early 1502. While he had taken over the empire at its highest point, it had extended
all the way to Nicaragua and Honduras. Due to the resentment of certain tribes for the religious
sacrifices by the Aztecs, The Empire was weakened. King Louis XIV s placement as the ruler of
France was a complicated one, after King Henry IV s death, his ... Show more content on

The long list of nations that regarded France as a threat included England, Spain, and the Holy Roman
Empire. In the 1680 s, they formed an alliance with several smaller countries and formed The Grand
Alliance. Then due to a large threat to France, the war was declared, it lasted from 1688 to 1697.
France had a large quantity of its territory intact. But the nation was in horrible condition and its
resources were incredibly depleted from fighting a war against seemingly everyone else in Europe. If
this wasn t bad enough for public opinion of King Louis XIV, he was the catalyst of yet another war
from 1701 1714. This war was even more disastrous, and people started to revolt. But even then, no
one could doubt the almost unstoppable military Louis had built from the ground up. France s military
had been struggling and was in shambles. Due to the work of King Louis XIV and his war minister,
Marquis de Louvois, they reorganized the army and improved the qualification and rewards for
joining. All the sudden the Army was an actual career path that could support an entire family.
Soldiers were supplied with uniforms and wages that couldn t be turned down. Of course, this meant
that taxpayer money was drastically increased. Their military was prospering more than ever . In

Latin American Revolution Dbq Essay
During the 18th and 19th centuries, revolutions began to occur in Latin American colonies. Several
European countries, including Spain, Portugal, etc. established colonies of citizens in the New World
and the rest of the Americas. They served as a means of expansion and source of beneficial resources.
Over increasing periods of time, however, the population began to consist of more creoles and native
born citizens. As a result, people began to create thoughts of their own heritage, and their own
independent nations. These thoughts eventually coalesced into what is known today as the Latin
American Revolution. The Latin American Revolutions were caused by the desire of elites to resist the
intrusion and interference of Spain and other mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The documents that provide the most evidence for this topic include The Americas: A Hemispheric
History and the Venezuelan Declaration of Independence . Document 3 portrays the outcomes of the
Latin American Revolution on the natives, It talks about how people gained popular sovereignty,
utilized virtues of republicanism and citizenship, used European Enlightenment Philosophies, and
codified laws and the Constitution. This portrays how following the separation of Latin America, they
were able to gain the necessary freedoms to establish their own rules and regulations, thereby forming
nations/countries. Document 6 also provides a valuable source of information as it gives a passage
from a country s Declaration of Independence. It talks about their rights to freedom, and it explains the
results and principles formed following the revolution. The author has written this document to justify
and claim independence from Spain, and form an independent nation. During this time period, the
Creole Revolutions were occurring in Latin America. The creole class, native born with European
ancestry, resented the power that the Spaniards provided to the Peninsulares. Through a series of
revolts and battles, these coalesced into the Latin American Independence Movements. Following

Reflection On Self Development Through Reflection
Self development through reflection is a key issue of education and learning (Kennison, 2012), where
you learn through experience (Tashiro, Shimpuku, Naruse and Matsutani, 2013), learn to self evaluate
(Duffy, 2013), identify gaps in knowledge and detect where further training or study is required to
improve practice (Olarerin, 2013). Ultimately reflection is thought to be constant learning from
practice, thus refining knowledge and experiences and putting them into practice (Naidoo, 2013).
Within my reflection examples (Appendix 1) I recognised where my knowledge and experience was
lacking, through self evaluation. For instance when completing an electrocardiogram (ECG). I learned
through my extra reading, how completing an ECG incorrectly could cause the patient to require un
necessary treatment (Houghton, 2014). Through my extra study I was able to learn where exactly
where the electrodes are positioned on the body for an accurate EGC tracing to be produced
(Crawford and Doherty, 2012; University of Nottingham, 2015). I used this knowledge throughout my
placement and I am now confident in conducting ECG s in my future practice. In achieving self
development in this example I linked my learning directly to my practice (Ross, 2014), where I
developed a fundamental skill and expanded my knowledge for my continued development in my
nursing career and practice (Aronson, 2011).
Nursing practice
Nursing practice is a key issue within reflective practice. It supports

Antisocial Persoanlity Disorder
Individuals with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) are characterized as being deceitful,
egocentric, and having little regard for rules or the feelings of others (Duggan, 2009). Individuals with
ASPD have been found to be unable to correctly interpret emotional situations; they also experience
negative feelings more often than positive feelings. They are also more likely to experience anger than
fear, which can trigger violent behavior. Individuals with ASPD have a tendency to employ defense
mechanisms that can lead to charm and narcissism (Gawda, 2013). The combination of lack of
emotional insight with these psychopathic qualities can create a dangerous individual. It also makes
psychologists ambivalent about treating these individuals and it can make the treatment process for
even the most dedicated psychologist very challenging. As such, many of these individuals run into
trouble with law enforcement. Half of the population diagnosed with ASPD have arrest records and
half of all male inmates could be diagnosed with ASPD (Duggan, 2009). Duggan determined that 1
6% of the general male population can be diagnosed with ASPD and co morbidity with substance use
is high. He also determined that ASPD is a disorder that is not commonly studied properly; recent
reviews of studies performed on ASPD populations could only identify five experiments that met the
Cochrane criteria for an acceptable randomized controlled trial. Duggan examined whether or not
preventive measures

Agricultural Production Simulation Paper
Existing climate variability is a fundamental driver of cotton production in Australia. Negative effects
of anthropogenic climate change will increase the existing climate related production challenges to the
Australia cotton industry most likely through significant fruit loss, lower yields and reduced water use
efficiencies due to higher temperatures (Williams et al. 2014; Bange et al. 2010). On average, on
cotton producing farms, cotton makes up the largest proportion of farm income (approximately 66%)
in terms of gross value of production and yet only comprises about 10% of the total farm area
(ABARE 2012; Roth 2010). 80% of cotton producing farms are irrigated and consequently overall

(2014) built on this research by using the biophysical crop production simulation model APSIM

climate change scenarios (the CSIROMk3.5 A1FI scenario) to provide information on the impact of
climate change on cotton yield and irrigation water requirements for the southern Queensland region.
These simulations highlight the complexity of the cotton production system especially the
ameliorating effect of CO2 fertilisation on growth that would otherwise be highly compromised with
decreased rainfall. The simulations indicate yields increasing by 5.9% to 2030, but then decreasing by
3.6% to 2050.
However, a requirement of the model was that available soil water was kept at 65%. In order to
achieve this irrigation volumes needed to be increased by 47.4% (2030) and 48.7% (2050). It is highly
questionable whether the adaptation response of increasing irrigation volumes to maintain ASW by
this amount is realistic. For example, changes in Government policy lead to the Murray Darling Basin
Cap (Authority 2010) reduces the amount of water available for irrigation in the area by 14% by

Oral Tradition Paper
It was the intention of this paper to situate The Oral Tradition Workshop for Educators and other
intercultural programs in Esmeraldas into the greater context of intercultural educational programs
globally. First, it aimed to illustrate that intercultural education is often a response to long standing
historical, political, and economic marginalization of one group by the dominate culture. For Afro
Ecuadorians, as in the cases of Europe and Latin America, the focus on intercultural education
emerged as a response to historical marginalization after the amendment to the constitution in 1998
calling for expanded collective rights of indigenous groups and Afro Ecuadorian. At the heart of
intercultural education programs is the assumption that the school and its key actors (students,
educators, administrators) play a critical role in eradicating inequality and negotiating spaces between
cultures (Aikman, 1997). This belief is evident in all of the cases presented in the paper as well as the

These policies have left Afro Ecuadorians disproportionally poorer and less educated than other
groups in Ecuador. Thus, policy leaders intended to improve these conditions through inclusive
education policies that recognize the significance of the contributions of Afro Ecuadorians in the

The TTOA workshop is an example of this initiative. The decision to use the TTOA workshop to
explore the development of intercultural programs in the region is due to the fact that, in many ways,
the program is a replica of other intercultural education initiatives in the region. First, Juan Garcia, a
pioneer of Afro Ecuadorian educational programs, created it. It also aimed to emphasize the

Character Analysis Of Sketchy
The journey of a lifetime starts with the turning of a page (Anders). This means that as a book is read
new adventures come along as well as relationships with characters. The book Sketchy written by
Olivia Samms has a very interesting and unique plot. The main character, Beatrice Washington, has
just come out of rehab and is trying to stay drug free. She has also just moved to a new high school
and is trying to get settled there. Although a setback to her goal occurs when Willa Prescott, a girl
from the high school, is raped and left to die. Bea meets Willa in her art class and soon finds out she
had a rare and strange ability. Bea has the power to draw what people are thinking. She had read Willa
s mind and drawn the rapist, although Willa refused to admit that she remembered anything from the
night she was raped. Bea has a new goal in mind; bring justice to Willa and the families of the other
girls who had been murdered/raped. Only if she can convince the police to believe her, and have Willa
agree to who the rapist was. When Charlie reviewed the book Sketchy on goodreads.com, she was
very enthusiastic and rated the book very positively, focusing on character development. Charlie is
accurate in her assessment of the book because Beatrice is a very relatable character but is not the
typical teenager which is portrayed in most books; she is more down to earth.
Charlie left a positive review of the book, making many comments favoring the setup of character
development. She makes a remark saying nothing is so over the top to make it unbelievable and by
doing so, I believe a wide audience will be able to easily connect with the character . This helps
support the idea that the build up of character development can help increase the overall plot. It does
this because it states how Beatrice is a character portrayed as a rebellious teenager but it is not
extremely stereotypical and this helps the reader be more related to the story and feel as if he/she
could imagine themselves in this position. Charlie also notes that It adds a dimension that elevates a
good story to a great story . This is referring to the way the characters and supporting characters help
add another side to the story to hook the

Each of these areas has a historic recorded hit by one or more major hurricanes. Because hurricane
winds start at 75 mph and can reach up to 156 miles per hour or more, the damage of the winds can be
extensive (NOAA). Winds will rip the roof off of a house or tip over a mobile home. Debris is
scattered with bullet like force. Storm surge floods buildings, streets and lands. Hurricane spawned
tornado winds cause extra natural destruction. Finally, what little natural habitat is left untouched by
humans can be fully devastated by hurricane aftermath.
Most Atlantic hurricanes start out in the North Atlantic Ocean, which is called the hurricane breeding

recent 2009 hurricane season with the eye of the tropical storm named Claudette coming ashore over
the Florida panhandle and reaching 60 mph of the 75 mph limit to be considered a category 1

it spins across the warm shallow waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico (NOAA)

The Design Of Le Rousseau And The Repast Of The Lion
While examining artwork, there are four different categories to discuss: description, analysis,
interpretation, and judgement.Throughout those categories, elements of design and principles of
design can be used to describe the artwork. Artwork is created through emotions and personal life
experiences that are able to create a story behind it. In the jungle around dusk time expressed by the

There is two type of force affecting pine tree, these are horizontal and vertical forces. This horizontal

Gospel Of Luke And Book Of Acts Comparison Essay
There is a lot more in common between the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts than just the
authorship of these two works. The two works, separated in the canon by the Fourth Gospel, are two
volumes of a single literary project. The prologues themselves describe how the works differ from
each other and how they relate to one another as well. The Gospel of Luke covers the ground up until
Jesus s ascension (Lk 24:50 53), and the Book of Acts picks up with the retelling of ascension (Acts
1:1 2). The first volume, being the Gospel of Luke fits well among the other Gospels, where we see a
long introduction being narrated similar to the other gospels. Acts clearly has a different purpose,

The warning signs spoken of in Lk 21:8 19 are echoed in the arrest of Stephen (Lk 21:15; Acts 6:10)
as well as the future arrests and persecutions of the apostles. Furthermore, in the speech of Stephen,
the longest discourse in Acts, we see an elaboration of what is narrated in Lk 24:27, where Christ
began with Moses and all the prophets, interpreting scripture that was pointing to him. In Acts 7, we
hear the same defense, or exposition, in detail as Stephen refers to Moses prefiguring Christ. In
addition to that, the journey of Paul for trial at Rome in Acts continues the overarching theme and
story of salvation that begins in the Gospel of Luke. In Luke we see the ministry of Jesus ending as he
marches to Jerusalem, on the way to his trial. In Acts 21, Paul visits Jerusalem for his trial and the is
on the way to another trial in Rome. The first few chapters of Luke play as a transition between the
Israelites and the ministry of Christ. Then, the first few chapters of Acts serve as a transition between
the ministry of Christ to the ministry of the disciples. Last but not least, Paul on his way to his trial is
the transition from the ministry of the disciples to the ministry of the life of the Church now that the
disciples have founded. In addition to that, throughout Paul s ministry, we see an echo of Lk 10, where
Christ warns the seventy two disciples about the difficulties they will face. In Acts

Great Monarchs Side by Side The British empire has seen a grand total of 66 monarchs, all varying in
historical importance. Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria are two great monarchs still remembered
today. Both women were influential figures who coined their own eras. Queen Elizabeth I influenced
the Golden Age, bringing learned arts and education into popularity. The Victorian era became known
as an age of great wealth and expansion for the British Empire which is attributed to Queen Victoria s
reign. What made these seemingly ordinary women become some of the greatest monarchs in British

The Golden age, for which she is credited with influencing, encouraged arts and education. Many
playwrights such as Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe gained popularity during this time
(Biography editors). New schools began to open, creating a larger opportunity for literacy. Because of
her childhood education, she encouraged education and arts which influenced the future of Britain.
Similarly, Queen Victoria also had a hard childhood that would influence her reign as Britain s
monarch. With her father passing away when she was eight months old, Victoria was left with only
one parental figure her mother, Princess Marie Luise Victoria of Saxe Coburg. From the beginning
Victoria s mother dictated her life. Marie hoped to become regent if Victoria s Uncle s both died
before her 18th birthday. To achieve this, Marie devised the Kensington system, in which every aspect
of Victoria s life would be monitored in order to make Victoria dependent upon her mother ( Queen
Victoria ). Although this had the opposite effect, creating a fierce independent spirit in Victoria. Upon
her early ascension to the throne, at only 18, Victoria distanced herself from her mother. At times,
Victoria refused to see her mother ( Queen Victoria ). Victoria s strong will played an important part in
her rule. She was able to make decisions for herself, not limiting herself to her mother s opinions,
creating a strong ruling monarch Although these

Technology Creating a Better World? Advancements in technology are supposed to make our lives
easier. The time it takes for us to travel to another destination continues to shorten. Computers
continue to advance at a rapid pace. Communicating with family and friends from another country has
become easier than ever. It would seem as if everything is perfect. However, that is not the case at all.
The irony of it all is that inventions that were supposed to make us connected to people close to us
have actually had the opposite effect. Devices such as mobile phones, tablets, television, and laptops
are just a few inventions that have us obsessed over them during our free time. With the advent of

Members of society have been so entranced with keeping in touch with everyone, that we often
neglect the people closest to us. We would rather post pictures, write comments, and video chat with
other people than our own family members (Wallis 14). In addition to the obsession over cyber space
connection, the bond from sharing quality time with your family seems like a distant thing in the past.
The bond that the internet provides is superficial compared to the one a person can build with people.
Wallis best describes this when she says If you re IMing four friends while watching That 70s Show, it
s not the same as sitting on the couch with your buddies or your sisters and watching the show
together (Wallis 18). Turkle explains this by stating We ve become accustomed to a new way of being
alone together. Technology enabled, we are able to be with one another, and also elsewhere, connected
to wherever we want to be (Turkle 4). Technology has given people a false sense of being together
when they are really not. Another common theme that the two essays share is that technology and
social media has made us less patient. Turkle attributes this due to the lack of face to face
conversations. She argues Face to face conversation unfolds slowly. It teaches patience. When we
communicate on our digital devices, we learn different habits...we start to expect faster responses

A Comparison of the Functionalist View with the Marxist...
A Comparison of the Functionalist View with the Marxist View Sociologists may disagree in their
interpretation of how society works. Some have focused on what keeps society together; others have
focused on what divides society. Over the years the two major paradigms have dominated sociology
these are functionalism and the conflict theory better know as Marxism. Both the Marxism view and
the functionalist view have their own totally different point of view. Haralambos points out that
although functionalists emphasize the importance of value in society they do recognize that conflict
can occur . However functionalists consider such conflict as being the result of temporary disturbances

They believe that a social system is a functional unity whereby all the parts of the system work
together. Co ordination and co operation . On the contrary Marxism could not be more strongly
marked. Marxism stresses that the motive force for society and social change is conflict. Marx stresses
that the links which bind sectors of society are economic and linked to the modes of production.
Social conflict is created by the differing interests of competing social groupings, known as classes. A
writer in the Marxist tradition would emphasize that the links between groupings within society are
very weak and marked by very diverse interests of each particular group. Marxists argue that the
functionalist view is an illusion to think of modern society as one which is in a continuous state of
harmony. On the contrary, every society is characterized by continuous conflict. There exists a
struggle between the various groups and classes of society. The struggle for power, prestigue and
economics goods gives rise to competition between the various sectors of society. Therefore, what we
consider as society is the outcome of this continuous social conflict. Functionalists as opposed to
Marxists dispute that social equilibrium is achieved, most importantly, through the socialization of
members of the society into the basic values

Suspense In The Others By Trojandro Amenabar
The Others written and directed by Alejandro Amenabar is a suspenseful horror film revolving around
the concepts of dissociation and denial. It is quite possibly the most unexpected ghost story ever told
on film and is very iconic in the horror genre for its many cloak and dagger twists.
The plotline centers within an old Victorian styled mansion located in the Isle of Jersey, England
during WWII from the viewpoint of a family that appears to live there. Three mysterious servants
arrive to the home after the previous servants are no where to be found, since their arrival a series of

In Act One of Candide, there is four scenes, the first scene is entitled Westphalia, when the scene is

goes on the music goes from an allegro tempo to a peaceful and dream like piano sound and grave
tempo. As the music continues to come in the lights continue to brighten on stage as well as if the
music and lights are tied together. As the cast came out they performed the opening song during this
song they harmonized really well. In Scene One the audience is introduced to the Baron and Baroness

During a later part of Scene Two when the cast is dancing the movements match the music, they
appeared to be doing the Waltz, so the music had abrupt changes. In Scene Three: Cadiz, the orchestra
plays some sad and somber music at the beginning. As the scene progresses the music goes from dark
and dismal to happy and cheerful. During one of the songs of Scene Four: Paris the Old Lady,
Cunegonde and Candide were discussing a flight and the music being played by the orchestra matched
the lyrics bringing the idea of a flight to life. The Old Lady has a mezzo soprano voice she executes all
of her notes well in the song. At the end of scene three Candide, Cunegonde, and the Old Lady leave
to go to a new place and in the song they sing there are rounds, which were well executed. It helped
change the mood again which brightened up the audience. In Act Two, Scene One: Buenos Aires, the
music has a fast tempo and the music is being played at a forte level, as the music continues it
suddenly softens to piano and the tempo slows down. Later in the scene during one of the songs you
could hear a washing board being played which added a new sound to the music the audience was

Dealing With Performers and Non-Performers and Performance...
Dealing with performers and non performers and performance management Two contradictory
theories exist regarding how persons are likely to perform in groups or teams. According to the theory
of social loafing, it is far easier to conceal one s laziness in a group setting than in a setting where one
s individual output is being measured. A good example of this is in a game of tug o war. When two
people are engaged in the match, it is obvious who is the stronger person will be based upon the
visible winner, so both people are likely to try very hard to win to avoid social embarrassment. But
when there are a large number of people on either side of the rope, people will pull less hard,
rationalizing that others will make up for the effort. One solution to the problem of social loafing is to
measure individuals working in teams according to individual as well as team output, but this has the
disadvantage of creating friction on the team because people will focus on their own, personal efforts
to a greater degree than the ultimate team goal and output. To avoid social loafing, make sure
everyone in a group knows that they can easily be evaluated by others (Straker, 2012, Social loafing).
The opposing theory of group interactions is that of social facilitation, which suggests that in a group
setting people will perform at a higher level than they normally would alone, because of the inspiring
presence of the group. The physical arousal of the presence of the group, the

On Monday, July 4, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were released, but Joran van der Sloot was detained for

The two brothers were released on the following day. The prosecution appealed the Kalpoes release.
That appeal was denied on December 5 with the court stating that the file against the suspect did not
contain direct indications that Natalee passed away due to a violent crime. Van der Sloot was released
without charge on December 7, due to lack of evidence implicating him. No further appeals were
sought out (Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015). Prosecutor Hans Mos declared the case closed
and no charges would be filed due to lack of evidence. Even though the case was closed the
prosecution continued an interest in the Kalpoe s and Joran van der Sloot. The interest remained due
to an alleged chat room message, where one of the three had stated that Holloway was dead. This was
contested by Deepak Kalpoe s attorney, who stated that the prosecution, had misconstrued a reference
to a teacher who had drowned as one to Holloway. Attorney Ronald Wix also stated, Unless (Mos)

Cultural Characteristics Of Musical Theater

What is Musical Theater?
It is not Shakespeare, nor is it Opera. It has been called Minstrel Show, Burlesque, Vaudeville,
Extravaganza, Operetta, Musical Comedy, Musical Revue, Musical Theatre and it has been described
in a variety of terms including Low Brow and Middle Brow but never High Brow. It had also been
praised and condemned for its broad cultural connections and appeal. Although Musical Theatre is not
a Shakespearean or Operatic subcategory. It was highly inspired by many Operas and theatrical iambic
pentameter and phrases of the great Shakespeare himself. For example, Rent was inspired by La
Boheme and Miss Saigon was inspired by Madame Butterfly. As a result, They sparked the beginning
of the amazing cultural phenomenon of Musical Theater. Vaudeville is a type of show and
entertainment that was very popular within the United states during the early 20th century, that had a
mixture of special acts such as burlesque comedy and song and dance. Burlesque is a comical work
that is usually something highly embellished, or a pastiche of some kind. It is often found that many
Burlesque works usually had a striptease of some sort. In the beginning showing legs was considered
profane and highly scandalous yet was highly entertaining for many people. Minstrel shows were a
shameful form of entertainment that had begun to rise in the 1840 s. With this came the creation of

Amendments to the National Constitution
Background In the U.S. legal system, the Constitution forms the basic template for legal theory and
management of law. This document formed the bases for the U.S. government and defined the three
main sections: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We must remember, too, that the idea of this
constitution of removing ties to a monarchy and setting up a separate government by the people, for
the people, was a very radical idea in the 18th century and had a background not only in the various
documents from the Mayflower Compact to the numerous colonial governmental charters. There, were
however, numerous compromises that had to be made to ensure ratification of the Constitution.
However, had these compromises not been made, (e.g. slavery, etc.) it is unlikely the colonies would
have come together to ratify the document, and the British may have prevailed. (National Constitution
Center, 2009). The First Amendment The First Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights, and prohibits

  • 4. The Canadian Border Services Agency In today s society, both male and female are expected to play specific gender roles. In Canada women and men are thought of as equal, having the same rights to respect, autonomy, and independence (Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 39). The Canadian Border Services Agency ignored this right when the agency allowed religious travelers to avoid female guards. Although men and women may have different roles in their households and communities, their work and activities are equally valued and socially rewarded (Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 39). These roles play an important part in shaping the way individuals think about others in society. The CBSA should not have approved the request of the religious travelers as it devalued the female guards rights by promoting gender inequality and male dominance. The approval of the males request raises the gender issue of gender inequality. Specifically because of their gender, the female guards could not perform their regular duties as a CBSA officer. Women and men should be thought of as equal by having the same rights to respect, autonomy, and independence (Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 39). In certain societies, women are targeted as weak and unable to fulfill certain male positions. It is argued by Bonvillain and Miller on page 41 ... that other tasks assigned to men and women may not be considered equivalent or equally valuable . The five males did not take the female guards occupation seriously as they felt the males would perform the job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparison Of King Louis XIV And Moctezuma II King Louis XIV (The Fourteenth) and Moctezuma II (The Second) were similar in a large variety of ways. The two rulers may have been separated by a large body of water and their lives many years apart, but they shared characteristics in the way that they showed their power, what type of Absolute Monarch they were. Moctezuma II was placed in power as the ruler of the Aztecs when his uncle, Ahuitzotl, died in early 1502. While he had taken over the empire at its highest point, it had extended all the way to Nicaragua and Honduras. Due to the resentment of certain tribes for the religious sacrifices by the Aztecs, The Empire was weakened. The long list of nations that regarded France as a threat included England, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire. In the 1680 s, they formed an alliance with several smaller countries and formed The Grand Alliance. Then due to a large threat to France, the war was declared, it lasted from 1688 to 1697. France had a large quantity of its territory intact. But the nation was in horrible condition and its resources were incredibly depleted from fighting a war against seemingly everyone else in Europe. If this wasn t bad enough for public opinion of King Louis XIV, he was the catalyst of yet another war from 1701 1714. This war was even more disastrous, and people started to revolt. But even then, no one could doubt the almost unstoppable military Louis had built from the ground up. France s military had been struggling and was in shambles. Due to the work of King Louis XIV and his war minister, Marquis de Louvois, they reorganized the army and improved the qualification and rewards for joining. All the sudden the Army was an actual career path that could support an entire family. Soldiers were supplied with uniforms and wages that couldn t be turned down. Of course, this meant that taxpayer money was drastically increased. Their military was prospering more than ever . In Moctezuma s 17 years as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Latin American Revolution Dbq Essay During the 18th and 19th centuries, revolutions began to occur in Latin American colonies. Several European countries, including Spain, Portugal, etc. established colonies of citizens in the New World and the rest of the Americas. They served as a means of expansion and source of beneficial resources. Over increasing periods of time, however, the population began to consist of more creoles and native born citizens. • 9. Reflection On Self Development Through Reflection Self development through reflection is a key issue of education and learning (Kennison, 2012), where you learn through experience (Tashiro, Shimpuku, Naruse and Matsutani, 2013), learn to self evaluate (Duffy, 2013), identify gaps in knowledge and detect where further training or study is required to improve practice (Olarerin, 2013). Ultimately reflection is thought to be constant learning from practice, thus refining knowledge and experiences and putting them into practice (Naidoo, 2013). Within my reflection examples (Appendix 1) I recognised where my knowledge and experience was lacking, through self evaluation. For instance when completing an electrocardiogram (ECG). I learned through my extra reading, how completing an ECG incorrectly could cause the patient to require un necessary treatment (Houghton, 2014). Through my extra study I was able to learn where exactly where the electrodes are positioned on the body for an accurate EGC tracing to be produced (Crawford and Doherty, 2012; University of Nottingham, 2015). I used this knowledge throughout my placement and I am now confident in conducting ECG s in my future practice. In achieving self development in this example I linked my learning directly to my practice (Ross, 2014), where I developed a fundamental skill and expanded my knowledge for my continued development in my nursing career and practice (Aronson, 2011). Nursing practice Nursing practice is a key issue within reflective practice. It supports ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Individuals with ASPD have been found to be unable to correctly interpret emotional situations; they also experience negative feelings more often than positive feelings. They are also more likely to experience anger than fear, which can trigger violent behavior. Individuals with ASPD have a tendency to employ defense mechanisms that can lead to charm and narcissism (Gawda, 2013). The combination of lack of emotional insight with these psychopathic qualities can create a dangerous individual. It also makes psychologists ambivalent about treating these individuals and it can make the treatment process for even the most dedicated psychologist very challenging. As such, many of these individuals run into trouble with law enforcement. Half of the population diagnosed with ASPD have arrest records and half of all male inmates could be diagnosed with ASPD (Duggan, 2009). Duggan determined that 1 6% of the general male population can be diagnosed with ASPD and co morbidity with substance use is high. He also determined that ASPD is a disorder that is not commonly studied properly; recent reviews of studies performed on ASPD populations could only identify five experiments that met the Cochrane criteria for an acceptable randomized controlled trial. Duggan examined whether or not preventive measures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Negative effects of anthropogenic climate change will increase the existing climate related production challenges to the Australia cotton industry most likely through significant fruit loss, lower yields and reduced water use efficiencies due to higher temperatures (Williams et al. 2014; Bange et al. 2010). On average, on cotton producing farms, cotton makes up the largest proportion of farm income (approximately 66%) in terms of gross value of production and yet only comprises about 10% of the total farm area (ABARE 2012; Roth 2010). 80% of cotton producing farms are irrigated and consequently overall production is very sensitive to water availability and price (McRae et al. 2007; Roth ... These simulations highlight the complexity of the cotton production system especially the ameliorating effect of CO2 fertilisation on growth that would otherwise be highly compromised with decreased rainfall. The simulations indicate yields increasing by 5.9% to 2030, but then decreasing by 3.6% to 2050. However, a requirement of the model was that available soil water was kept at 65%. In order to achieve this irrigation volumes needed to be increased by 47.4% (2030) and 48.7% (2050). It is highly questionable whether the adaptation response of increasing irrigation volumes to maintain ASW by this amount is realistic. For example, changes in Government policy lead to the Murray Darling Basin Cap (Authority 2010) reduces the amount of water available for irrigation in the area by 14% by ... Oral Tradition Paper It was the intention of this paper to situate The Oral Tradition Workshop for Educators and other intercultural programs in Esmeraldas into the greater context of intercultural educational programs globally. First, it aimed to illustrate that intercultural education is often a response to long standing historical, political, and economic marginalization of one group by the dominate culture. For Afro Ecuadorians, as in the cases of Europe and Latin America, the focus on intercultural education emerged as a response to historical marginalization after the amendment to the constitution in 1998 calling for expanded collective rights of indigenous groups and Afro Ecuadorian. At the heart of intercultural education programs is the assumption that the school and its key actors (students, educators, administrators) play a critical role in eradicating inequality and negotiating spaces between cultures (Aikman, 1997). This means that as a book is read new adventures come along as well as relationships with characters. The book Sketchy written by Olivia Samms has a very interesting and unique plot. The main character, Beatrice Washington, has just come out of rehab and is trying to stay drug free. She has also just moved to a new high school and is trying to get settled there. Although a setback to her goal occurs when Willa Prescott, a girl from the high school, is raped and left to die. Bea meets Willa in her art class and soon finds out she had a rare and strange ability. Bea has the power to draw what people are thinking. She had read Willa s mind and drawn the rapist, although Willa refused to admit that she remembered anything from the night she was raped. Bea has a new goal in mind; bring justice to Willa and the families of the other girls who had been murdered/raped. Only if she can convince the police to believe her, and have Willa agree to who the rapist was. When Charlie reviewed the book Sketchy on goodreads.com, she was very enthusiastic and rated the book very positively, focusing on character development. Charlie is accurate in her assessment of the book because Beatrice is a very relatable character but is not the typical teenager which is portrayed in most books; she is more down to earth. Charlie left a positive review of the book, making many comments favoring the setup of character development. She makes a remark saying nothing is so over the top to make it unbelievable and by doing so, I believe a wide audience will be able to easily connect with the character . This helps support the idea that the build up of character development can help increase the overall plot. It does this because it states how Beatrice is a character portrayed as a rebellious teenager but it is not extremely stereotypical and this helps the reader be more related to the story and feel as if he/she could imagine themselves in this position. Charlie also notes that It adds a dimension that elevates a good story to a great story . • 30. Dealing With Performers and Non-Performers and Performance... Dealing with performers and non performers and performance management Two contradictory theories exist regarding how persons are likely to perform in groups or teams. According to the theory of social loafing, it is far easier to conceal one s laziness in a group setting than in a setting where one s individual output is being measured. A good example of this is in a game of tug o war. When two people are engaged in the match, it is obvious who is the stronger person will be based upon the visible winner, so both people are likely to try very hard to win to avoid social embarrassment. But when there are a large number of people on either side of the rope, people will pull less hard, rationalizing that others will make up for the effort. One solution to the problem of social loafing is to measure individuals working in teams according to individual as well as team output, but this has the disadvantage of creating friction on the team because people will focus on their own, personal efforts to a greater degree than the ultimate team goal and output. To avoid social loafing, make sure everyone in a group knows that they can easily be evaluated by others (Straker, 2012, Social loafing). In order to aid in the search, the Royal Netherlands Air Force deployed three F 16 aircraft equipped with infrared sensors, without result. Satellite photos were also compared with photographs taken more recently in an attempt to find unexpected shifts of ground that might be Holloway s grave(Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015). A small pond near the Aruba Racquet Club close to the Marriott Hotel beach was partly drained between July 27 and 30 after an individual came forward. The two brothers were released on the following day. The prosecution appealed the Kalpoes release. That appeal was denied on December 5 with the court stating that the file against the suspect did not contain direct indications that Natalee passed away due to a violent crime. Van der Sloot was released without charge on December 7, due to lack of evidence implicating him. No further appeals were sought out (Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015). Prosecutor Hans Mos declared the case closed and no charges would be filed due to lack of evidence. Even though the case was closed the prosecution continued an interest in the Kalpoe s and Joran van der Sloot. The interest remained due to an alleged chat room message, where one of the three had stated that Holloway was dead. This was contested by Deepak Kalpoe s attorney, who stated that the prosecution, had misconstrued a reference to a teacher who had drowned as one to Holloway. Attorney Ronald Wix also stated, Unless (Mos) finds a body in the bathroom of one of these kids, there s no way in hell they can arrest them anymore (Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, ... • 33. Amendments to the National Constitution Background In the U.S. legal system, the Constitution forms the basic template for legal theory and management of law. This document formed the bases for the U.S. government and defined the three main sections: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We must remember, too, that the idea of this constitution of removing ties to a monarchy and setting up a separate government by the people, for the people, was a very radical idea in the 18th century and had a background not only in the various documents from the Mayflower Compact to the numerous colonial governmental charters. There, were however, numerous compromises that had to be made to ensure ratification of the Constitution. However, had these compromises not been made, (e.g. slavery, etc.) it is unlikely the colonies would have come together to ratify the document, and the British may have prevailed.
