Gender Stereotypes In The Film Sorry
For colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf express feelings from seven
different women and the pain that they go through. These women with each other formed a bond
through their different suffering taking them from strangers to associate.Women experience a lot of
animosity throughout their lives. From being lied to, raped, beaten, let down just hurt just because.
This movie gave a vigorous slight of family life and they were many families illustrates in this movie.
They have two poems that I really enjoy reading the first is Sorry .This is a poem that women can
compare their self to and see that they are disgusted with excuses and lies. The women deals with very
different ways which men let them down and then apologize in tons of empty disappointing ways .In
this poem the women come together to speak out for the men making excuses for bad behavior and
they are just tired of it. They are sick of apologies and don t want them anymore. The other one that
stand out to me was Somebody almost walked off wid alla my stuff .This stood out because the
women enjoys her flaws and calls her old one as in ex to give her back pieces of her that was taken
away. She takes in ownership of her body and of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives out a strong message saying how women in general are tired of men coming in and out their
life with excuses. Saying how if they have an excuse everything is going to be good and it s ok for
them to do that over and over again .The men walks away while the women are left to bear the scars.
Between these two poems the women says that they are no longer willing to sacrifice stuff for men
who don t deserve it at all. Both of the poems have found power by overcoming their own struggle in
their relationships. Their self respect doesn t depend on men sorry s anymore they want to face the
unforgotten truth than hurt under flimsy

1984 Technology Analysis
In George Orwell s 1984 novel, the government known as Big Brother controlled and monitored the
citizens by numerous types of technology. The technology used were telescreens, thought police, the
government was able to get complete control over the people of Oceania. While the ideas of
technology were ahead of the actual time frame of the novel, they should be dismissed. While our
technology continues to develop over time, there is not a way of telling how it will affect the future in
the book. If it gets put into the wrong hands, important information and technology can be very
harmful as shown in the novel 1984. With the modernization of technology in 1984 takes the form, it
was used for controlling means. By placing telescreens and all across Oceania in every household and
room, the Party monitors it constantly. At work, in the comforts of their own home, even in giant
plazas and marketplaces, Oceanians cannot expect privacy. The Party s use of surveillance technology
is only one of the methods it employs to ensure and ascertain control. Smith! Screamed ... Show more

Without the technology, I believe that The Party would crumble under having no social advantages
over the working class. Winston is at an advantage find places where there is no telescreens or spies;
which also shows that even with the greatest amount of control; there are always spaces where people
can sneak around. Big Brother Is Watching You (Orwell 2), this statement from the book isn t always
the truth. The main items of technology in the book are necessary for the society to run as strict as it
does without this, more give would be created for the workers; rather than none at all. Without the
telescreens no news on how the war was going would be spread, no false hope or lies could be spread
by the party. I also think maybe, it s not technology itself which gives you an advantage; it s the

Pina Bausch s Rite Of Spring
I love to dance because I was scared to speak. When I was moving, I could feel. This quote was how
one of the most influential dance artists of the twentieth century described the meaning of dance to
her. Although Pina Bausch was a German choreographer, she also had many other labels such as a
provocateur and feminist. Her choreography had a wide range of descriptions from beauty and humor
to darkness and sarcasm. The artistry of Bausch physically and emotionally express sentiments and are
highly dramatic. One of her most famous productions, Rite of Spring, is a perfect representation of the
talent and voice Bausch contributed to the dance scene. The theatrical elements of her choreography
are reputable for being unique and primal. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The costume choice of this piece expressed that it is deemed appropriate for men to wear what they
want. As for the authoritative movements executed by the men, that represented the power that men
have just because they are men. The women dressed in white projected purity and innocence.
Although, the woman in the red dress was singled out and it seemed as if they were judging her.
Throughout the reading on Pina and Gender, this was labeled othering and after watching the
performance, I completely understood what they meant. The dim and dark atmosphere of the dance
represented that this issue is not addressed and is often left in the dark. The intensity of the music,
facial expressions, and style of movement all influenced my feelings toward the performance. Bausch
s choreography brought new meaning to music and I found that to be true. I felt anger when the bold
music played and the men exerted their presence. As the women danced to the softer music, I felt
empathy for the struggle they were experiencing. The facial expressions of the women changed
dramatically with the presence of the men. The discomfort I felt, I felt with the female

Vito Corleone In Francis Ford Coppola s The Godfather
That s my family Kay, that s not me (The Godfather). Francis Ford Coppola s The Godfather
establishes the lives of Vito Corleone and the Corleone crime family of New York. Vito Corleone is a
godlike figure who commands respect because he obeys the codes of his Old World predecessors. He s
a man of honor and a man who is both feared and loved, rather than feared itself. Sicilian men, in Vito
s eyes, are true Italians. Their businesses are separated from their personal lives, and nothing is more
important than the well being and safety of the family. While the film focuses on Vito Corleone as the
Godfather, it also focuses on the life of his family, emphasizing the importance of Vito s youngest son,

He was able to separate himself from the world of organized crime, especially after he turns all his
responsibilities over to Michael. Michael, however, becomes more and more ruthless as he rises to
power. He chooses business over his personal relationships. Vito claimed that family was the most
important thing a man can have in his life, yet Michael doesn t share this same virtue. He s at the peak
of his life where he is now in full control over the family business. Unlike his father who was both
feared and loved, Michael is feared. He s no longer the same man introduced in the beginning of the
film, but instead, a ruthless cold hearted killer who will stop at nothing to climb to the top of the
hierarchy. He s had a taste of power and now, he s ready for more. Francis Coppola s The Godfather is
a film about the importance of family in the midst of mafia involvement, it s about the relationship
between father and son, power, and what it takes to achieve it. However, what the films reveals is that
everyone s view of power is different and that it is something that tears individuals apart no matter the

microcontroller based on the AVR enhanced architecture. By executing powerful instructions in a
single clock cycle, the ATmega328 achieves throughputs close to 1MIPS per MHz. This empowers
system designer to optimize the device for power consumption versus processing speed. The ATMEL
AVR core combines a rich instruction set with 32 general purpose working registers. All the32
registers are directly connected to the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), allowing two independent
registers to be accessed in a single instruction executed in one clock cycle. The resulting architecture
is more code efficient while achieving throughputs up to ten times faster than conventional CISC
microcontrollers. The ATmega328/P provides the following features: 32Kbytes of In System
Programmable Flash with Read While Write capabilities, 1Kbytes EEPROM, 2Kbytes SRAM, 23

The Indian Constitution
INTRODUCTION The undeniable fundamental rights were preserved in Part III of the Indian
Constitution. Directive Principles were enumerated in Part IV of the Constitution. The terms
fundamental rights have not been defined in the Constitution. Article 12 imposes duty on the state to
protect citizens for enjoying the Fundamental Rights. Each article has a distinct, important an valuable
fundamental right empowering the citizens. These rights primarily aimed at assuring political freedom
to the citizens by protecting them against excessive State action. They are given a pride of place in the
Constitution by the Drafting Committee. Despite being part of the same constitution, a contrast is
often made between part III and part IV i.e. between fundamental rights and directive principles. The
main reasons are the judicial enforceability of FR and its nature being negative obligation of the state.
The Fundamental Rights are enforceable. The directives are non ¬justifiable and are more in the
nature of positive affirmations of the state. However in recent time, some of the directives have been
made a part of chapter on Fundamental Rights to be in tune with the requirements of changing polity.
ARTICLE 31 C In 25th Amendment, 1971 Art 31 C was added by the Constitution. The importance of
the directive principles are enhanced by this amendment. As stated in the object clause of the Bill, the
object of the amendment was enacted to get over the difficulties placed in the way of

Mr Smith Goes To Washington Analysis
In the film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Mr. Jeff Smith is next in line to be a senator after senator
Foley passes away. Mr. Smith is then faced with many challenges as a politician and we see all a few
of his qualities that helped him with all of his decisions. A few of these qualities were that he was
honest, naive and he lived his life with integrity. In the film, Mr. Smith is a young politician that is
very inexperienced once he gets to the big playing fields in washington. Regardless of this he stays
honest throughout his journey, and this is a great quality to have. During his time in Washington and
the press would always ask him questions he always told honest answers. His opinions on the bills
they voted on were always his honest opinion. Although he was honest he was perceived as naive, he
was a young politician and did not know very many of the rule. This was a setback for Mr. Smith
when they were discussing bills. At one point in the film Mr. Smith attempts to speak against a bill,
but from him not understanding protocol he yields the floor to Paine, who denounces Mr. Smith on
charges if using the boys camp for personal gains. Mr. Smith lives his life with integrity, meaning he
has strong morals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smith possesses could be positive or negative qualities for a congressman or congresswoman today. I
believe it depends on the way you look at how these qualities could be beneficial or not. Being honest
and living your life with integrity is a positive thing to have. If you are honest then as citizens we
know that we can trust you, and that you won t work unfairly. If a congressman or woman lives their
life with integrity it shows that those people really want to make a change in America or that they are
wise. If a congressman or women possessed the naive quality I believe it would not benefit the way
they are perceived. They would be thought to be not as well fit for the job and unprepared to take on

Disadvantages Of Service Oriented Architecture
!!!Definitions
!!What is a Microservice?
Microservices are a method of designing software applications in which the application components
are divided into small independent processes called Microservices which communicate with each
other using API to form a complete application.
!!What is Service Oriented Architecture(SOA)?
With Service Oriented Architecture a communication protocol is used to make public, platform
independent services available to any application or user that needs them. SOAs provide services to
components that may involve simple data passing routines or connect to another service or carry out
some small functions.
!!What is an Application Programming Interface (API)?
It is an interface. It is in between two different applications, allowing them to communicate. An
application programming interface is therefore defines as an application that allows two pieces of
software to communicate with each other.

These definitions make room for a broad spectrum of interpretations. We are going to use an

In Response To Executive Order 9096 By Dwight Okita
Should a person be happy with society or should feel as if society should be constantly changing?
Many authors have differing opinions on this subject. Some authors believe that people should be
happy with society how it is and others believe that if society keeps changing and advancing it will
become better as a whole. The truth is, if we all stay at ease with society there will be fewer problems.
The idea that a person should learn to be happy with their society is demonstrated in the poem In
Response to Executive Order 9066 by Dwight Okita. In this poem it describes a Japanese American
girl getting sent away to a camp and has to leave her best friend, who is a caucasian young girl. The
Japanese American girl goes to school thinking everything is going to be the same, but when she

Alice in Wonderland Dream Analysis
Dream Analysis of Alice in Wonderland
Who s who and what s real; are we who we claim we are, and is reality really real or is everything just
a fragment of what we think is the universe?
A dream sequence is a technical term used mostly in film and television to set apart a brief interlude
from the main story. (Wikipedia) The deeper lying theme that Carroll wanted to incorporate into his
story of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, in my opinion, was not his
psychological or sexual desire for Alice Liddell. What he did mean to express by writing these stories
was his innermost desire to escape from reality in which a relationship between he and Liddell was not
allowed to a fantasy land where everything is backwards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carroll thus displays himself as two different beings through this theme: a serious mathematician
existentialist writer, and the uncanny photographer who enjoys taking nude pictures of little girls,
which are undoubtedly one exactly same person in the world of two universes; since the two realities
can have differences and yet both very real, Carroll s strange personality is not actually strange at all.
Borges The Circular Ruins did not contain the same meaning as Carroll s existentialist ideas; Borges
idea of dreams was strictly one way, in which when one person wakes up, the person who is being
dreamed will vanish. The Circular Ruins questioned about our existence as real or just a fragment of
someone else s imagination, which is supposedly as real as the actual reality of whoever is imagining
us. Carroll s notion of dreams, then, questions a more complex essence of existence: of two possibly
imagined universes imagining each other. Carroll expresses himself and his queer personality (or is it
queer?) through a seemingly harmless book of nonsensical fantasies, and also questions his readers,
and possibly himself, the meaning of life and the universe. What I always thought of as the fun story
with insane poems, in addition to the wonderfully brilliant image of Wonderland portrayed by Disney,
turns out to be quite an amazing text for future existentialists and

Increased productivity as a result of training and development within a sheriff s organization
Introduction Training and development is one of the fields in human resource management. It is
concerned with the activity of the organization that is aimed towards bettering the performance of the
individual members of the organization as well as groups and teams in the organization. It also has
other names such as learning and development and human resource development. It encompasses
three main activities. These are training, development and education. Training is the activity which
involves focusing on and evaluating the job that is held by the individual. Development refers to the
activities which focus on the activities taken by the organization which employs the staff to better the
working environment. These activities are next to impossible to evaluate. Education refers to focusing

Green Berets came to the defense of the film. One lieutenant colonel commented that when
Hollywood s doing it, you have to expect dramatization some exaggeration. But I thought it was a real

African American soldiers who served in combat far exceeded their percentage of the population.
Thus, Wayne did not accurately portray the racial demographic of the military at the time. Roger Ebert

Robert Gray Poem- Old House and Late Ferry
Poetic Language is used to Capture Human Experiences;
`In Robert Gray’s poems, he uses language to capture human experiences. In two of his
poems; old house and late ferry, gray has effectively captured human experiences by his varies poetic
languages and through insight and feeling. Throughout both texts late ferry and old house,
gray’s main message in the poems, with his critical analysis, is the destruction of nature by
mankind.
In old house, gray has captured the human experience of the process of death. He does this through
insight and he effectively conveys this with poetic language such as the use of metaphor. This is the
title itself ‘ old house’. The title doesn’t literally mean an old ... Show more

He uses this imagery in this poem to emphasis this dark place in which he now lives. Deep sea can be
a cold and scary place. This would capture a human experience because deep in the sea would be a
dark and lonely which is something a human can feel and relate to.
Gray expresses, in late ferry, a human experience captured by the language technique of symbolism,
this is of colour. In this text, gray uses the colour of yellow to express light, and sun, and to emphasis
the preciousness of the colour yellow, which also symbolises gold. In this text, gray conveys yellow as
the happy colour of the light, which is more natural and sweet to him, especially compared the fake
lights and colours of the city.
Poetry is definitely language used to capture a part of human experiences. This is evident in both late
ferry and old house, which were written by the poet Robert gray. He informs his audience of the
destruction of nature, and this is happens by mere humans. This is evident by the artificialness of the
city in late ferry, and of an old house actually being an institute in old house. He does this successfully
through various uses of poetic language

as gluten free and low in carbohydrates. The guests are paying more attention on what they eat. My
opinion is both hotels and restaurants are here to stay. I do have some friends who worked at some
hotels in Washington, D.C. In winter time, the demand for hotels in the area is very slow. So, what the
company does is they will lay them off for two months or so then have them return when return when
it picks up again. So, what my friends does is they file for unemployment for those months when they
are laid off.

The Artist Of Brownstones By Jacob Lawrence
Topic 1: Brownstones is a bit of abstract art depicting a group of what appear to be African Americans
going about their lives on a busy street. This is a clear piece of the architecture that led to the swelling
civil rights movement of the 50s. During the 1920s and 1930s, as a result of the combined forces of
the Great Migration, the Depression, the Jazz Era, and the Harlem Renaissance, Harlem was
transformed into a community with a unique identity. A sanctuary for African American art, this new
cultural oasis enjoyed a sense of optimism in spite of economic difficulties. Like many writers and
artists of his time, Jacob Lawrence, the artist of Brownstones, was inspired by the dynamic vitality of
the Harlem community. One of the more interesting aspects of this is the communal response that was
brought about by the Renaissance . Initially during the civil rights movement it was students who
marched at the forefront, those with nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, over time the
movement blossomed fully, and those from all walks of life stepped up to defend liberty. In the wake
of the assassination of Martin Luther King, we as a nation(most of us anyway) stood as one against
oppression and hatred. We fought the good fight, without weapons or blows, but with dollars, steps
and words. It wasn t a war though. You don t win wars by dying for your country, you win by making
the other guy die for his. This was a rebellion, two sides claimed they held the same

Pursuing Mt. Everest
The High Price of Pursuing Your Mount Everest
What is behind the great lure of Mount Everest? It is as a symbol of ultimate
achievement of climbing to succeed rising to a elevation of few miles higher than
sea level, near the Himalaya scope, on the edge of Tibet, Nepal, and Northern India.
Torrents, chasms, as well as fierce winds have merged, in the company of
exceptional abruptness, along with thin ether, to generate Mt Everest unfavorable to
conquer. Most alpinists approach the mountain from its south side, which seems to
be the easiest side to start with; however, most parties never reach the top. As the

Everest, try to say the words: Never give up!
Remember, you are always just a heartbeat away from your success, (Hongo).
Of course, making your dreams come true does not come without a price; it
can mean getting uncomfortable, and living more deliberately, or intentionally. It
means starting to live your dreams, and stop living the lie, move forward with a new
life of focus and passion; find a sense of purpose in life.
There is no guarantee of success, however, the climbers of the highest mountains in
the world, show that in order to truly excel in one s life, you have to have passion.
You do not have to have a million dollars, a fancy car, or a humongous house
because they cannot replace the inner drive that fuels your passion. Loving what
you do determines true success, and the poorest person in the world, can be far
more successful than the richest, if they are driven by undying passion, which is
what allows you to make your dream comes true.
I strongly believe in never giving up on your dreams. Most individuals
abandon them, not because they want to, yet roughly always either because
somebody is telling them they cannot do something, or more importantly, due to

San Diego Marketing Campaign Essay
In the homework assignment last week, I took on the marketing campaign for a Mechanics shop in

Security Analysis And It Security Policy Manager At My...
In writing this paper I spoke with Security Analysis and IT Security Policy Manager at my place of
employment when researching this paper. They gave me some insightful direction as to the
information, where to look for information and the important security issues to reference. Working in
IT for the last 10 years I have also had to deal with many of these policies first hand. Additionally, I
referenced the PowerPoints presented in class and The CISSP and CAP Prep Guide: Platinum Edition
that I purchased and used for the quiz in class.
When discussing the topic of information security there are many concepts, elements and topics to
discuss. Some of the information to be discussed here are the ten domains of Computer Information
Systems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a company that I made up just for name sake of this paper. This is not a comprehensive list
however will point out some of the more important points.
To begin with, any security professional must take in to account the three fundamentals of principles
of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) that set the security posture for an organizations
information security department. Integrity ensures that unauthorized alteration to information is not
made, alterations are not made by unauthorized personnel, and the information is reliable both
internally and externally. Confidentiality unauthorized release of information, regardless if the release
is internally or externally. Availability for the users to be able to access the data in a consistent and
timely manner that will add value to their job is also necessary.
The process and choice of classifying information is very important. Data of different types have
different values to the owner of the information. Some data may be of more value or critical
importance than other data. Certain information is therefore valuable, and if lost could cause great
financial loss.
Total Layer IT will classify its information using the terms Public, Sensitive, Private, and Confidential
based on the information s value, age, useful life, and personal association. Based upon the business
needs certain groups will have access to these various levels of information.

The Background Of The Nestle Company
The Background of the Organisation
The Nestlé history begins back to 1886, when he first man, a European condensed milk factory was
opened in Cham, Switzerland, by the Anglo Swiss Condensed Milk Company. In 1867, the founder
Henri Nestlé, a German pharmacist, established new product of cow s milk, wheat flour and sugar in
Vevey, Switzerland. Henri Nestlé, himself an immigrant from Germany, was instrumental in turning
his Company towards international expansion from beginning. We owe more than our name, our logo

product was begun with a simple idea: anyone was able to create a perfect espresso coffee.
In 1988, an Italian brand Buitoni became part of Nestlé s portfolio. In the same year, there was a
boycott of a group of organization in United Kingdom against Nestlé. Later, as a result of our
inclusion in the responsible investment index FTSE4Good in 2011, the United Reformed Churches
ended their support for this boycott. By this time, a lot of other important stakeholders had already
ended their support for it, including the General Synod of the Church of England, the Royal College of

In 1993, Nestlé opened up the new markets in Central and Western Europe, as well as China. The
company partnered with the Ralston Purina Company, to create a new pet food company, Nestlé

What I Was At An Ethics Unit
it might be said
I OVERALL UNIT REFLECTION
The past few weeks have been tough and definitely not what I was expecting of an ethics unit. Week
in, week out I find myself stumped by questions I don t have the answers to. However more than ever
before I am trying to come up with decisive answers regarding what my opinion is on certain ethical
issues, rather than just analysing the merits and demerits of other people s viewpoints.
II STRUCTURE OF REFLECTION
For my reflection I will be outlining the main practical skills that I have gained from this unit whether
it be from the weekly readings, tutorial exercises and/or online modules and material. The practical
skills gained consist of intellectual, performative and affective skills all of which are essential for
practicing lawyers, however for the purpose of this reflection primary focus will be placed upon
intellectual and affective skills.

could not hold protests in Birmingham. Martin Luther King along with the Rev. Ralph Abernathy

Photojournalism is Subjective NOT Objective Essay
Photojournalism has long been considered to have a tradition of reflecting the truth. It has been a
major element in newspaper and magazine reporting since the early 20th century. It was probably only
about a century ago when people believed that what they saw in photographs was factual. This impact
of visual image as seen by the viewer was based on the old belief that the camera never lies . Wheeler
says that photojournalism has acquired a special standing in the public mind, a confidence that photo
can reflect reality in a uniquely compelling and credible way. (Wheeler T, 2002, p. 3) This acquisition
is formed by a creation of a powerful picture, which is the combination of both truthfulness and visual
impact. In general, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Photos are just recorded information and how it is presented is actually based on individual
interpretation by the photographers themselves. It is not absolute reality because the viewers
themselves are not there to witness the event; therefore it is not entirely factual. The meaning of a
photo illustration is also dependent on viewers individual views and assumption. As the old metaphor
says, is the glass of milk half full or half empty?
Gatekeepers such as publishers and the government play a role in photo manipulation. As Newton
(Newton J, 2001, pg. 74) suggests that those who tend the gates of reportage tend power . These
people are the ones who decide what the public ‘needs to know , what is ‘appropriate , what is
‘news and also what the public needs to ‘see . Gatekeepers as such must answer questions like: Will
publishing a picture of the body of a drowning victim prevent others from drowning at the same spot,
or will it only exploit a tragic situation to sell newspapers? (Newton J, 2001)
Another significant reason that has played a vital role in photojournalism of recent times is the
emergence of imaging technologies. Imaging technologies has undoubtedly played a major part in the
works of a photojournalist today. Based on earlier accounts on how photography itself is an inherent
manipulation, the question is no longer directed on ‘how has imaging technologies manipulate
photojournalism but ‘how much more has imaging

Skilled Immigration Controversy
The discourse on skilled immigration revolves around the controversial H 1B worker visas, the largest
visa program for temporary, skilled immigration to the United States, and the level of the annual cap
of such visas. Proponents pushing to raise the annual visa cap, argue that there exists a shortage of
domestic labor supply in certain industries. Moreover, these workers enable firms to compete globally
by raising their competitiveness, growth, and innovation. Critics of skilled immigration, however,
argue that skilled immigrants are not necessarily skilled, and that the principle use of the H 1B visas is
for firms to minimize their labor costs, which has the effect of undercutting native wages, and
displacing native workers.
The H 1B program grants temporary work visas to workers in specialty occupations, most commonly
in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Firms must pay substantial fees to
apply for a worker, and the worker is tied to the firm for the length of their visa (the initial length
being three years). Law requires that H 1B workers be paid the prevailing wage for the job in the firm
or the geographic region where the person is employed as to discourage worker ... Show more content

The question of whether there is a shortage of skilled labor supply cannot be accurately determined
given the current visa system and the agendas of firms. Since applications of the visas are not accepted
once the cap is reached, there is no exact information on the demand. Furthermore, firms could be
incentivized to hire skilled immigrants to minimize costs rather than the claimed performance
benefits, biasing any data collected. Whether aggregate benefits outweigh the potential losses from the
crowding out of native workers and their lower wages depend on the methodologies

The Importance Of My Identity
There are status and symbols that are associated with ethnic people. These status or symbols are
sometimes positive and others are negative. Therefore, these labels only hinder us from achieving our
potential. Stereotypes about minorities are imposed by other cultures. This is also true of gender
expectation. I was born in Mexico, but at six years old I came to the United States. Fortunately, within
a year I learned English. This is the dilemma I faced with regards to my identity. My appearance is
Hispanic and I identify my ethnicity as Mexican. However, my identity is actually a combination of

One status people associate with being Mexican, is being poor or of a lower economic status.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies legal and illegal immigrants are twice as likely to be
in poverty or nearly poverty, versus their native born counterparts in America. When I first came to the
United States my family and I were poor which, perpetuated the ideas that people had of me. They
judged me for the clothes I wore, because they were not brand names and I brought my own food from
home. However, this was also in part due to the cultural differences. In my country for the most part,
the food was natural and in the American school system the food was usually processed. At first the
food made me sick, but it changed as time went on. Eventually, my family circumstances change as
well due to my mother s hard work. Thus, we moved up to middle class status. However, people
always associate with, a lower economic status despite my actual economic status or what I wore.
Another prejudice, which I endured was that Mexicans were lazy, because we came from a third world
country. Despite always being on the honor roll, since I was a child my peers were shocked when they
said how I could possibly get that and not them. However, people did not understood that I had to
work harder than everyone else since, English was not my native language. Additionally, my family

Middle Colonies Essay
The Middle colonies consisted of four of the thirteen colonies founded by the English in America. In
1609, Henry Hudson, a Dutch explorer, traveled in the Middle colonies by going on a journey into the
Hudson River and Delaware Bay. In 1621, he colonized what was then New Netherland, with New
Amsterdam as the capitol. The Duke of York, was given New Netherland from his brother King
Charles II, and renamed the land after himself naming it New York, and the capitol was then named
New York City. Being that New York was so large, New Jersey became another Middle colony,

New York was first settled by the Dutch and Pennsylvania was founded on the basis of religious
tolerance, which are some of the main factors to why the Middle colonies were so diverse. With the
New England colonies being settled by Puritans, it wasn t a very accepting region for other religions.
The Southern colonies was also mainly a plantation economy which did not attract very many
immigrants. In the 1700 s population in the Middle colonies flourished with immigrants from places
such as Germany, Ireland, and Scotland. In 1770, about 85,000 German immigrants came to the
Middle colonies. Most of the immigrants were made up of Germans because of the War going on in
Germany at the time, and they wanted to escape the harsh life there in America. Scots Irish were also
major settlers mainly consisting of farm laborers or tenant farmers. Although the trip over was
miserable because of seasickness, bad sanitation, and starvation, immigrants were still able to escape
their lives in Europe and were welcomed in the Middle colonies unlike in the other colonial regions.
The colonies were also diverse because of the different religions and culture that the immigrants
brought. Not only did immigrants come to America for a better life, but they came with their beliefs
and spread them among other settlers, making the Middle colonies a more accepting, region. Even

A Brief Note On Non Profit Tax Compliance
Non Profit Tax Compliance
Unlike for profit businesses, the focus of a nonprofit is not on gaining profits for shareholders and
owners, but to fulfil a charitable mission for the benefit of the public. Because of this mission focus,
the IRS has recognized these organizations as exempt from the federal income tax that is placed on for
profit businesses and individuals. This recognition is not automatic and is not guaranteed. Nonprofit
organization must still follow the rules and regulations set forth by the IRS and the U.S. Government
regarding tax compliance. If these rules are not followed, a nonprofit organization could lose their tax
exempt status.

Diction In Doris Lessing s A Woman On A Roof
Through her remarkable short story titled A Woman on a Roof, Doris Lessing is able to present the
idea that a man s general disdain for women he doesn t have immediate access to may stem from an
initial rejection. Lessing uses devices such as crisp diction and subtle irony placed carefully
throughout her story to accurately convey this problematic and very relevant topic not only during the
1960s, but also today. To begin, Lessing describes a scene that is quite easy to picture due to her
heavily descriptive diction. She uses words such as steamed, sizzled, smoking, and scorching, which
makes it so that the audience can practically feel the heat of the summer day. This description of the
temperature also seems to set up the tense or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end, Tom finally gathers up enough courage to speak with his love, but he is rejected...Not just
rejected, but almost completely ignored. The tension and discomfort within this encounter can be seen
when Lessing writes, She lay there. He stood there. She said nothing. She had simply shut him out. He
stood, saying nothing at all, for some minutes. The high contrast between Tom s embellished and
unrealistic version of the woman and her actual self causes him to become heartbroken. As mentioned
before, Lessing is attempting to show that in some situations, when a man does not have instant access
to a woman, he develops feelings of hatred toward her. In Tom s fantasies, he always had this access,
and she could be anyone he wanted her to be. When she doesn t exhibit elation at the sound of his
proposal, he feels betrayed. This is an example of irony, as Tom had expected the woman to act as she
did in his dreams, but she ended up doing the complete opposite and letting him down. A Woman on a
Roof ends by describing Tom s downfall and his drunkenness (and, based on Lessing s wordplay, it is
intentionally unclear whether he is literally drunk or if he is metaphorically drunk off of the hatred he
feels for the woman). It seems as if, at this point, Tom has essentially turned into Stanley. Tom started
off harboring only feelings of admiration and love for the woman, but he eventually holds the same
opinions of Stanley s that he once couldn t

Jealousy And Deception In Othello
The endurance of a text can be evaluated through timeless universal human values it examines.
William Shakespeare s Othello centralises on a transformation of a man from innocent and honourable
to someone who is blinded by rage. This is done through the utilisation of literary techniques that
ultimately emphasise universal human characteristics such as jealousy and deception, both of which
are still present in the 21st century. Shakespeare has juxtaposed the different interpretations to each of
these ideas of jealousy and deception through the use of numerous techniques.
In his play, Othello , Shakespeare explores a common human motif jealousy in different ways.

In Shakespeare s play Othello , the whole tragedy revolves around a sense of appearance versus reality
through the deceptive nature of Iago. This is represented by the dramatic irony in so please your grace,
my ancient: A man he is of honesty and trust . In this, Othello displays dramatic irony by saying that
Iago is honest and trustworthy when the audience knows that he isn t. In this, Shakespeare ultimately
highlights the deceptive nature of humanity. Shakespeare also uses dialogue to convey deception. This
is evident in I hate the moor. My cause is hearted; thine hath no less reason. Let us be conjunctive in
our revenge against him . In this, Iago expresses his inner emotions, as in front of Othello he acts loyal
and trustworthy, while he backbites about him to others. Deception is further examined through
foreshadowing in I am not what I am . In this scene, Iago foreshadows his true nature and implies that
he is not what he appears to be. In the scene, Iago is perceived to be helping Othello, but his end goals
are to harm him. Shakespeare further uses foreshadowing to convey this idea, but from a different
perspective, in Perdition catch my soul / But I do love thee! And when I love thee not, / Chaos is come

Factors Affecting The Growth Of A Developed Countries
10) Urbanization in the less developed countries has much been the result of demographic growth that
rather than economic development like in developed countries. The demographic trend of rapid
declines in death rates compared to birth rates has generated large increases in population. A Lot of the
urbanization of developing country populations is due to rural urban migration. The decision to
migrate mainly involves push and pull factors . Push factors such as bad economic, political, and
environmental circumstances force migrants out of rural areas. Pull factors may include a desire for
employment and the idea of better access to schools, health clinics, piped water and other facilities
that are not widely available in rural regions. which attract migrants to urban areas. Displacement,
political circumstances and war related conflicts have also led migrates to urban areas. The
disproportionate number of youth in these migrations bring forth another component of urban growth,
natural increase. Natural increase refers to a rise in population because the birth rates are higher than
the death rates. Natural increase accounts for about 60 percent of urban population growth in less
developed countries. Natural increase gives indications on how fast populations development while
showing growth tendencies. The natural increase is found by subtracting deaths from births and
dividing the result by number of the total population. The correlation between urban growth and high

The International Olympic Committee ( Ioc )
George Grigsby
Historical Foundation
March 12, 2016
Rio 2016 In September 7, 2007 the International Olympic committee (IOC) when over the application
for the host city for the 2016 summer games. Amount those cities was Rio scoring a high of 6.3 on the
rating. Rio is rich in activities, religion, culture but Rio face many problems, some of those problems
are crime rate is high, pollution and poverty that excite in that area. Looking back on the history of
Brazil will show that it is a country that is tropical but it was discovered by Portugal during the 16th
century and mostly controlled by European nations and from the 16th century on there were exchange
of rulers The Portuguese military officers that were based in Brazil at this time sided with the
constitutionalist movement in their homeland. General Jorge Avilez, who led the Portuguese military,
forced Dom Pedro to dismiss and banish the ministers of Kingdom and Finance. These men had both
been loyal to Dom Pedro and the prince was left feeling helpless and humiliated as he was
manipulated by Avilez. From that moment, Pedro swore never to give in to military manipulation
again. In September 1821, the provincial governments of Brazil were put in political subordination to
Portugal, which left Pedro nothing more than the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, which was just a
province. Pedro was also ordered to go back to Europe and any courts that his father had created in
1808 were done away with. The Brazilian inhabitants

The Controversy In Church
The community I will be focusing on is my church community. The name of the church is called
Intense Deep Bible Church and it was pastored by Willard Abena. About 5 years ago, there was a
controversy in the church which sparked division in the church and also causing the pastor to be
suspended. At this time, the issue was explained thoroughly to the church congregation and a lot of
people were not happy with the results. Whilst the issue was being explained to the church
congregation, the youths and children were asked to leave the church and at that point in time, I was
considered a youth. So I was not able to figure out what was going on and why I haven t seen my
pastor in church for a very long time, until I became and adult at the age of 18.
When I became an adult, I came to the realization that the pastor was removed due to him making
some personal spiritual mistakes which were never disclosed to the public congregation and was not
tolerable by the church leaders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The church community also needs to be addressed on how the new pastor s family was treated and
why it is wrong, especially in an environment where all the members are supposed to feel welcome
and treated like family, according to the biblical scriptures. The family of the new pastor and the new
pastor needs to be apologized to. If they are not apologized to, they may continue to distance
themselves from the church. Another issue is that when an issue like that of the founding pastor came
to pass, the congregation was not well informed because of the privacy of the pastor. Because of this
lack of information, parts of the church community were upset. If the church leadership can work on
giving the church community a more adequate information, it can reduce the confusion that results in
the division of the

Analysis Of The Book Stepdaughters And Love Medicine...
Family
Stepdaughters and Love Medicine
Family is interpreted many different ways by many different people. In these two stories
Stepdaughters by Max Apple and Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich, we will view the family
dynamics differences and similarities. In the story Stepdaughters our author paints a very vivid image
of a broken family. Starting with the death of our character Stephanie s father when she was a very
small child, but also the fact that her mother Helen had remarried several times clues us in to their
incompletion as a whole family. Apple clearly states the newest stepdad saying, I m stepdad number
three trying to stay on the sidelines (129).A nonparticipant parent would suggest that he really is not
sure if he is going to be around to much longer. In our story Love Medicine our author also paints an
image of a broken family. Our character Lipsha comes from a dysfunctional background only to be
cared for in what may seem to others as a dysfunctional situation as well. Starting out as a youth he
was told his mother did not want him, only to be cared for by someone who never lets him forget he
was rescued by her. Grandma Kashpaw would tell him he was the biggest waste on the planet and she
saved him from his mother who wanted to drown him. Lipsha felt there was not that many thank you
left to be said (Erdrich 376). Although our two stories have images of broken homes. Stepdaughters
shows genuine love between Stephanie and her mother

Mass Shootings Analysis
According to Why the US has the most mass shootings The United States makes up one third of all
global massacres. Lankford has found that attacks from mentally ill citizens has tripled from 2011 to
2014. During that time period it was averaged to have an attack every 64 days. Some researchers
believed mass killings to be contagious; one killing increasing the chance of others to occur in two
weeks. This phenomenon is more likely because guns are more accessible in The United States,
compared to other countries. The statistics do show that more restrictive gun laws make a difference.
Australia, for example, had four mass shootings between 1987 and 1996. After those incidents
Parliament passed stricter gun laws and Australia hasn t had a mass

Dbq Cherokee Indian Removal
All men are equal but not the Cherokees? It was not necessary for the Cherokees to be removed from
their land because the Cherokee had many rights and many of them were violated by the government.
The Cherokee were trying everything they could to stay in their land but they could not. For they were
removed inhumanely while attempting to save their nation from being wiped off the face of the earth.
The Cherokee indians were being forced out of the land that rightfully belonged to them. During the
indian removal act of 1830 the Cherokee indians were being forced off their land that was rightfully
theirs for natural resources, gold, and land that the United States of America said that belonged to
them(video). When gold was discovered in Georgia, the Cherokee indians were in danger of being
harmed by the whites that were in their land. Andrew Jackson stated, It would incalculably strengthen
the southwestern frontier and render adjacent states to repel future invasions. (book 355) Andrew
Jackson was explaining the benefits of indian removal but no one was thinking ... Show more content

The Cherokee indians had to stay in the stockades from October to December(video). Disease spread
throughout the stockades. When the disease disappeared in December the Cherokee s started to walk
to the land west of the Mississippi River. In December the Cherokee indians marched through the
snow and ice. Many Native Americans died during the march to their new homes. Andrew Jackson
told the Native Americans that they would be in comfort with furnished ferries and covered wagons.
Despite these things 15 of the Native Americans died each stop(video) throughout the journey. The
government could have treated the Native Americans in a more caring and respectful way. The
American government said that they removed the natives for their own good but they just harmed the

Throughout the reading on Pina and Gender, this was labeled othering and after watching the performance, I completely understood what they meant. The dim and dark atmosphere of the dance represented that this issue is not addressed and is often left in the dark. The intensity of the music, facial expressions, and style of movement all influenced my feelings toward the performance. Alice in Wonderland Dream Analysis Dream Analysis of Alice in Wonderland Who s who and what s real; are we who we claim we are, and is reality really real or is everything just a fragment of what we think is the universe? A dream sequence is a technical term used mostly in film and television to set apart a brief interlude from the main story. (Wikipedia) The deeper lying theme that Carroll wanted to incorporate into his story of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, in my opinion, was not his psychological or sexual desire for Alice Liddell. What he did mean to express by writing these stories was his innermost desire to escape from reality in which a relationship between he and Liddell was not allowed to a fantasy land where everything is backwards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carroll thus displays himself as two different beings through this theme: a serious mathematician existentialist writer, and the uncanny photographer who enjoys taking nude pictures of little girls, which are undoubtedly one exactly same person in the world of two universes; since the two realities can have differences and yet both very real, Carroll s strange personality is not actually strange at all. Borges The Circular Ruins did not contain the same meaning as Carroll s existentialist ideas; Borges idea of dreams was strictly one way, in which when one person wakes up, the person who is being dreamed will vanish. The Circular Ruins questioned about our existence as real or just a fragment of someone else s imagination, which is supposedly as real as the actual reality of whoever is imagining us. Carroll s notion of dreams, then, questions a more complex essence of existence: of two possibly imagined universes imagining each other. Carroll expresses himself and his queer personality (or is it queer?) through a seemingly harmless book of nonsensical fantasies, and also questions his readers, and possibly himself, the meaning of life and the universe. What I always thought of as the fun story with insane poems, in addition to the wonderfully brilliant image of Wonderland portrayed by Disney, turns out to be quite an amazing text for future existentialists and ... This is a clear piece of the architecture that led to the swelling civil rights movement of the 50s. During the 1920s and 1930s, as a result of the combined forces of the Great Migration, the Depression, the Jazz Era, and the Harlem Renaissance, Harlem was transformed into a community with a unique identity. A sanctuary for African American art, this new cultural oasis enjoyed a sense of optimism in spite of economic difficulties. Like many writers and artists of his time, Jacob Lawrence, the artist of Brownstones, was inspired by the dynamic vitality of the Harlem community. One of the more interesting aspects of this is the communal response that was brought about by the Renaissance . Initially during the civil rights movement it was students who marched at the forefront, those with nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, over time the movement blossomed fully, and those from all walks of life stepped up to defend liberty. In the wake of the assassination of Martin Luther King, we as a nation(most of us anyway) stood as one against oppression and hatred. We fought the good fight, without weapons or blows, but with dollars, steps and words. It wasn t a war though. • 31. Photojournalism is Subjective NOT Objective Essay Photojournalism has long been considered to have a tradition of reflecting the truth. It has been a major element in newspaper and magazine reporting since the early 20th century. It was probably only about a century ago when people believed that what they saw in photographs was factual. This impact of visual image as seen by the viewer was based on the old belief that the camera never lies . Wheeler says that photojournalism has acquired a special standing in the public mind, a confidence that photo can reflect reality in a uniquely compelling and credible way. (Wheeler T, 2002, p. 3) This acquisition is formed by a creation of a powerful picture, which is the combination of both truthfulness and visual impact. In general, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Photos are just recorded information and how it is presented is actually based on individual interpretation by the photographers themselves. It is not absolute reality because the viewers themselves are not there to witness the event; therefore it is not entirely factual. The meaning of a photo illustration is also dependent on viewers individual views and assumption. As the old metaphor says, is the glass of milk half full or half empty? Gatekeepers such as publishers and the government play a role in photo manipulation. As Newton (Newton J, 2001, pg. 74) suggests that those who tend the gates of reportage tend power . These people are the ones who decide what the public ‘needs to know , what is ‘appropriate , what is ‘news and also what the public needs to ‘see . Gatekeepers as such must answer questions like: Will publishing a picture of the body of a drowning victim prevent others from drowning at the same spot, or will it only exploit a tragic situation to sell newspapers? (Newton J, 2001) Another significant reason that has played a vital role in photojournalism of recent times is the emergence of imaging technologies. Imaging technologies has undoubtedly played a major part in the works of a photojournalist today. Based on earlier accounts on how photography itself is an inherent manipulation, the question is no longer directed on ‘how has imaging technologies manipulate photojournalism but ‘how much more has imaging ... Skilled Immigration Controversy The discourse on skilled immigration revolves around the controversial H 1B worker visas, the largest visa program for temporary, skilled immigration to the United States, and the level of the annual cap of such visas. Proponents pushing to raise the annual visa cap, argue that there exists a shortage of domestic labor supply in certain industries. Moreover, these workers enable firms to compete globally by raising their competitiveness, growth, and innovation. Critics of skilled immigration, however, argue that skilled immigrants are not necessarily skilled, and that the principle use of the H 1B visas is for firms to minimize their labor costs, which has the effect of undercutting native wages, and displacing native workers. The H 1B program grants temporary work visas to workers in specialty occupations, most commonly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Firms must pay substantial fees to apply for a worker, and the worker is tied to the firm for the length of their visa (the initial length being three years). Diction In Doris Lessing s A Woman On A Roof Through her remarkable short story titled A Woman on a Roof, Doris Lessing is able to present the idea that a man s general disdain for women he doesn t have immediate access to may stem from an initial rejection. Lessing uses devices such as crisp diction and subtle irony placed carefully throughout her story to accurately convey this problematic and very relevant topic not only during the 1960s, but also today. To begin, Lessing describes a scene that is quite easy to picture due to her heavily descriptive diction. The tension and discomfort within this encounter can be seen when Lessing writes, She lay there. He stood there. She said nothing. She had simply shut him out. He stood, saying nothing at all, for some minutes. The high contrast between Tom s embellished and unrealistic version of the woman and her actual self causes him to become heartbroken. As mentioned before, Lessing is attempting to show that in some situations, when a man does not have instant access to a woman, he develops feelings of hatred toward her. In Tom s fantasies, he always had this access, and she could be anyone he wanted her to be. When she doesn t exhibit elation at the sound of his proposal, he feels betrayed. This is an example of irony, as Tom had expected the woman to act as she did in his dreams, but she ended up doing the complete opposite and letting him down. A Woman on a Roof ends by describing Tom s downfall and his drunkenness (and, based on Lessing s wordplay, it is intentionally unclear whether he is literally drunk or if he is metaphorically drunk off of the hatred he feels for the woman). In this, Iago expresses his inner emotions, as in front of Othello he acts loyal and trustworthy, while he backbites about him to others. Factors Affecting The Growth Of A Developed Countries 10) Urbanization in the less developed countries has much been the result of demographic growth that rather than economic development like in developed countries. The demographic trend of rapid declines in death rates compared to birth rates has generated large increases in population. A Lot of the urbanization of developing country populations is due to rural urban migration. The decision to migrate mainly involves push and pull factors . Push factors such as bad economic, political, and environmental circumstances force migrants out of rural areas. Pull factors may include a desire for employment and the idea of better access to schools, health clinics, piped water and other facilities that are not widely available in rural regions. which attract migrants to urban areas. Displacement, political circumstances and war related conflicts have also led migrates to urban areas. The disproportionate number of youth in these migrations bring forth another component of urban growth, natural increase. • 44. The Controversy In Church The community I will be focusing on is my church community. The name of the church is called Intense Deep Bible Church and it was pastored by Willard Abena. About 5 years ago, there was a controversy in the church which sparked division in the church and also causing the pastor to be suspended. If the church leadership can work on giving the church community a more adequate information, it can reduce the confusion that results in the division of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
