He explained the overriding mission of Shariah-compliant finance and examined the system of zakat, which is integral to Shariah-compliant finance and by which numerous Islamic charities have been found to fund jihad. Mr. Holton also examined how Shariah-compliant finance is not held to the same standards of disclosure that the rest of the financial world must adhere to and the role of Shariah scholars in Shariah-compliant finance and looked closely at two prominent Shariah scholars in particular as prime examples of the problems that Shariah-compliant finance presents. It did come as a surprise to many people in our audience who are otherwise very informed about the danger of Islam and Shariah to the West to learn of the nations that have already come to dominate Shariah-compliant finance and to the extent that it has infiltrated America.

Actions to be a global governance was objective of Nations Covenant in 1815, the League of Nations in 1920 and of the United Nations in 1945 that were in vain because the great powers chose to impose their will on the world.

Extremism, especially religious extremism, has become a major challenge in Pakistan that threatens social cohesion and national security. It manifests through violent acts by extremist groups and human rights violations when extremists gain power. While some argue extremism stems from political grievances, others believe the extremist ideology itself justifies antagonism. Reformist Muslim voices are seen as critical to countering extremist narratives. In Pakistan, extremism in recent years has led to over 1,700 terrorist attacks in 2013 alone, carried out mainly by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, killing over 2,400 people. Beyond organized groups, extremism is also growing at the individual level and destroying families and society.

The Moral Questions on the Religious Basis for Terrorism
Terrorism has been informed and propelled by many factors such as tribal, political, religious and many other factors but experience has shown that religious factor has been a key factor for terrorism; sometimes, it is used to champion other courses which may be political or tribal. Religious terrorism is the justifiability of terror acts on the ground that such an act is sanctioned by a deity; thus, adherents are called to even kill in order to defend their faith. Religious motivated terrorism (e. g., Joshua conquest of the Canaanites in the Old Testament, ISIS terrorist attacks, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Boko-Haram in Nigeria etc.) is said to be the deadliest of all other kinds of terrorism. Looking at the religious basis for terrorism, one is poised to raise some moral questions such as: are there ethical justifications for religious terrorism? Is religion the bedrock for morality or vice versa? Since God has reason for all His actions, can He ever sanction the killing of His creatures for His delight? What is the moral undertone of martyrdom? Etc. This research considers these questions and more thereby unveiling a possible moral condemnation of religious basis for terrorism.

About the Attorney General’s Awards Ceremony
John Guandolo, a former FBI special agent and retired Marine, received two awards from the United States Attorney General's Office for his investigative excellence with the FBI. For over 60 years, the Attorney General's Office has honored public servants for bravery and ingenuity, recognizing 278 department employees and 10 others in 2014. Recipients were celebrated at the annual Attorney General's Awards Ceremony, where the highest honor of Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service and other awards for heroism, professionalism, and lifetime service were granted.
The American Red Cross Launches a New Social Media Campaign
The American Red Cross has launched a new social media campaign called #GiveWhatFireTakes to raise public awareness about home fire safety and reduce fire-related deaths and injuries. The campaign asks people to donate funds that will support relief services for families affected by home fires and disasters. It will also help Red Cross workers educate communities and install smoke alarms, helping over 50,000 people so far. People can support the campaign through the Red Cross Crowdrise page or website.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society Researches MS Progression
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds research to stop the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS) by investigating the immune system, which attacks the nervous system in MS patients. Researchers supported by the Society study T cells and B cells and attempt to partially disable the immune system to identify molecules regulating immune response. This research has led to treatments such as Copaxone, interferons, Tysabri, Amypra, and Mitoxantrone that aim to slow the progression of MS symptoms.

John Guandolo is a Northern Virginia consultant with law enforcement experience spanning the FBI and U.S. Marine Corps. The coauthor of Shariah: The Threat to America, he currently leads Guandolo Associates, LLC, which focuses on national security issues. National MS Society Funds Vitamin D Research
John Guandolo is a former FBI agent who now works in counterterrorism. He also supports the work of organizations like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which funds research into potential treatments for multiple sclerosis such as vitamin D supplementation and clinical trials looking at UVB exposure, higher vitamin D doses, and connections between vitamin D levels and disease progression.

This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

What is Shariah?
- 2. A former Marine Corps officer, John Guandolo resigned from the Corps to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation. For nearly two decades, he researched terrorism and trained agents on how to eliminate the terrorist movement. Due to his excellence in the field of counterterrorism, John Guandolo was invited to coauthor Shariah - The Threat to America.
- 3. Published in 2010, Shariah - The Threat to America is a report coordinated by the Center for Security Policy to shed light on the problems that exist with followers of Shariah (Islamic Law). Based on the Quran, Shariah is a belief system that dictates how Muslims should carry out jihad to create a society that is dominated by the House of Islam. Shariah followers aim to replace the U.S. Constitution with Islamic laws by employing terrorism and pre-violent acts.
- 4. The ultimate goal is to eliminate a government system that allows freedom of religion, manmade laws, and other civil liberties because it contradicts the teachings of Islam. Under Shariah, Allah, the Islamic God, leads how people and societies should carry out their social, military, cultural, religious, and political norms.
