2.1 Recruitment in Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines uses both internal and external sources of recruitment. Internal
recruitment for example, job promotions are also used inside the firm to recruit employees for
a higher ranking job in Singapore Airlines They have established an online website for many
different purposes which is an example of an external recruitment. One purpose of the
website is for recruitment. Singapore Airlines provide information about its workplace and it

The Kentucky House Of Representative Candidates Forum For...
The second group I attended was the Kentucky House of Representative Candidates Forum for house districts: 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14. This group was
attended by me via online and took place on campus at Brescia University in Owensboro Kentucky. The Candidates Forum was held on Monday
October 17 from 7:00pm–8:30pm CDT. The scene was that of an auditorium with six candidates seated at a table in the front and to what appeared to
be the group moderator at a podium to the right of the room. The camera did not focus in on much of the audience for me to give an accurate
description, but there were several members there to observe and many had questions for the Candidates.
The Kentucky House of Representatives Candidate Forum was an open–ended group. In other words, it was open to the public primarily because it
had a political agenda for gaining voters for the Candidates that shared their views. The Candidates Forum can be identified by several of the groups
mentioned in our text, but the two groups that I feel best fit the description are: Educational group and a Focus Group. First, I identified it with an
educational because the Candidates objective is to educate the viewers on their political stance in the race as well as educate the viewers about
important issues that need to be addressed. Lastly, I identified it with a focus group because a focus group 'is closely related to task groups and
problem–solving and decision–making groups in that they identify needs or issues,

When People Think Of A Presidential Election, Chances Are
When people think of a presidential election, chances are that they will focus on election night itself, completely ignoring the nomination process that
came before it. Although our current nomination process has been around for over one hundred years, it has not been without its complications. For
almost thirty years, states have been guilty of front–loading – which Dictionary.com defines as the process of concentrating maximum effort on an
activity at the outset (Dictionary.com, n.d.). Every year, different states change their primary orcaucus dates to fall earlier in the year, effectively
front–loading the presidential campaign every four years. As stated in my prospectus, my proposed reform involves adopting an open primary schedule

In contrast, a caucus is a public vote in which people in specific regions meet up and physically move from one side of a room to another after
listening to candidates ' debates to make their choice. When the primaries/caucuses are over, the delegates, who represent the votes of the citizens,
travel to their parties ' national convention in which the delates meet with super delegates. It is here that together, they make their choice for
presidential nominee (Olson, 2016). I believe this current system is not democratic enough because front–loading of presidential campaigns has many
drawbacks.
To begin, front–loading hurts the democratic nature of the nomination process because it hurts the states. All states, by the power of the constitution,
are democratic and can choose to participate in the nomination process of their choosing. Be it a caucus or a primary, delegates and super delegates are
always involved. The current nomination system is part of our representative democracy in which we, the people, vote for representatives to represent
us in government (Dahl, 2003, p.73). As the presidential race progresses from state to state, the race itself becomes less and less about platform issues
and increasingly more about delegate counts and spending large sums of money used for convincing the American public to vote a precise way. If
candidates will be bouncing back and forth from

Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager
Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component of many organizational management structures.
While it can be an extremely effective management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected results. This is
the case we see presented in the case study for this assignment. It seems that our manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items
from her current workload in order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be delegated. To her
credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated.
This is a crucial and key step, as discussed within our text. While we don't know the extent of the items that may have been included on this list, Ms.
Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data and generating a monthly statistical report. It's at this point that I feel
things went a bit astray in the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as important and organizing and
stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. While we
know in our case study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we don't have any indication that she performed her due

Interview Analysis : President Of The United States Essay
Interview Analysis One may be making a virtuous decision when choosing the lesser of two evils, but one will still find himself stuck with an evil
choice. Many Americans today find themselves in this predicament when considering the only two real possible choices for President of the United
States. On one hand, voters have former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who the Federal Bureau of Investigations labeled "careless" and "grossly
negligent" in the handling of America 's top secret information. On the other hand, voters have Donald Trump, who persistently attacked a Gold Star
Family. It is easy to see how the Pew Research Center has reported that there is widespread skepticism among registered voters concerning the
presidential race. The poll reported that a higher percentage of voters thought that both candidates would make "terrible presidents" rather than merely
"average presidents'"(Pew Poll, August 2016). Americans are very unhappy with their two choices for President of the United States. The three main
reasons behind this dissatisfaction are increasing negative partisanship, media 's constant push of a narrative to appeal to their base, and the overall
qualities of the candidates themselves. I interviewed ten people to test this statement and its contributing factors. Additionally, during these interviews
the hope was that most of the subjects would be able to identify these determining causes that have contributed to their unhappiness with both Donald

At first, you must win a primary election and get nominated from a party which you are affiliated to. After that, there comes a general election where
you must fight against the other party's nominees. In this campaign, a strong financial support is required. Candidates use their half of budget to gain
voters by boosting media supports and spends other half to make voters aware about their party's motto. The amount of money varies with different
candidates. 1 "The amount a candidate spends per vote is based on three variables: how much a candidate fundraises, how much a candidate spends ...

interest groups stand for the right of women to make a decision on her pregnancy. 4 Interest groups that would oppose me are Texas right to life

Campaign SLOGAN is very essential to reach out to the voters. It incorporates the summary of the party principle. My SLOGAN would be "Let us

Analysis Of Alfred Schutz 's ' The Well Informed Citizen '
In the year of a presidential election the media is flooded with an unhealthy amount of news about almost every facet of the candidate's life. This
information is presented in different lights to hungry audiences, all of those who wish to either see the best or worst of the potential President. Each
individual member of this audience belongs to a different mindset and has their own background knowledge associated with the news they are
consuming. Although people read the news with different intent and expected gain of knowledge, they all get the same amount of information.
The best way to begin to explain the audience's expectance of the news is to look at the ideas presented in Alfred Schutz's, "The Well–Informed
Citizen". The "man–on–the–street" is the general population who takes in information to stay relevant and maintain a stock of little insights to share
with colleagues. They tend to only read the news article 's lead, that first small paragraph that contains all the important information, they take that
information and add it to their conversation starter list without considering its validity. Alfred Schutz's idea is that, "This knowledge in all its vagueness
is still sufficiently precise for the practical purpose at hand."(122). This is not to demean the "man–on–the–street" for his lack of comprehensive
information, but to point out how one reads into the newspaper and utilizes that information. The other end of this spectrum is the "expert", for this

Recruitment Methods
The purpose of this memorandum is to guide the company on how to conduct an efficient and effective recruitment and selection process when hiring
senior level employees. Below I have provided a few of the top options that the organization can easily put in place for the use of recruiting and
selection new senior level staff.
Recruitment Methods Recruiting qualified candidates that are able to adequately handle and manage senior level positions of the organization takes a
great deal of time and patience. Placing individuals who are not sufficiently knowledgeable at a "senior level" could cause an organization a great
deal of damage and money. It's therefore advisable for every organization to apply some of these methods. There are... Show more content on

There might be employees working as junior staffs but they have the required qualifications thus when an opportunity arises they are given the priority.
Selection Methods Selecting suitable candidates for senior level positions of the organization is also an essential undertaking. There are several
considerations an organization must take into an account about a candidate before hiring them.
1.Credentials Assessment. It is very important to know what experience and skillset a candidate brings with them when joining an organization.
Individuals with higher degrees, received from premier colleges demonstrate commitment through their qualifications. (McDonald, 2012)
2.Position Matching. Another vital component to the selection process is matching the right individual to the position. For example, a senior level
staff member in charge of the organization's finances must have experience and knowledge relating to the management of how a company's finances
are handled. If the candidate's experience and skills do not match the position being filled, then obviously, this candidate is not the right match. Hiring a
candidate with only some of the skills needed for that specific position could put the organization in a very compromising position. (McDonald, 2012)
3.Personal Characteristics. Another imperative element when selecting senior staff is their personal characteristics in relation to their leadership

The Manchurian Candidate Film Analysis
During the late 1940s and the early 1950s, the thought of communism instilled fear within many Americans because it was portrayed in such a way
that confined diversity and corroded political culture while the United States was supposed to be the land of the free. This fear of communism was
nicknamed the "Red Scare" and was fed by Joseph McCarthy's accusations of hidden communist in the country. The Manchurian Candidate was a
black–and–white American film released in 1962 that depicted the Cold War and the affects of that paranoia had on the nation. It was released at the
peak of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the spread of communism. This film was about Raymond Shaw, the son of a right–wing political family, who was
brainwashed to act as an assassin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Americans were concerned with being brainwashed unwillingly and unknowingly due to communism, the thought of remembering while
not in control of ones own mind poses a greater horror. While Shaw describes what happened when he and the other soldiers were captured, the
camera cuts to close up frame of his face. The camera is up close and personal with Raymond and he can be seen to be sweating non–stop, almost as if
he were nervous about something. However, his eyes remain steady which disproves the previous statement. The direct, straightforward close up
camera angle of Shaw's face places an important role of showing the readers the emotions that cross his face. His nervousness of his past actions
makes it seem like there is more sweat on his face and this is beginning to show his lack of control but also a state of enlightenment. Even though it
seems like he is becoming aware of what is happening and he is concerned of his previous actions, there is still no hesitation when he follows
Marco's orders. This camera frame clearly shows the lack of human agency in Raymond Shaw at this point because as he is explaining his actions, he
is clearly disturbed and shocked at what he did but he cannot control the movement of his hands or the information he is giving out. In the same article

Analysis Of Donald Trump 's Presidential Election
Once a candidate becomes a party's official nominee the general election race begins. However, if there is a presumptive nominee before their
convention they will usually begin their general campaign. Becoming an official nominee is a very big process and takes months, even years. For
example, Donald Trump's process to becoming the Republican nominee began about twenty months before the election. It began in March 2015 when
he formed an exploratory committee. Then, in June 2015, Trump announced his candidacy for president. He then began debating, fundraising,
endorsements seeking, and other nomination seeking acts. He also assembled his campaign and set up ground operations to get on states ballots. In
February 2016, the first primary elections began. After losing the first primary in Iowa, Donald Trump won the New Hampshire primary. With this he
began winning delegates. Finally, in May 2016, Trump, secured over 1237 delegates and became the presumptive nominee. Lastly, in July 2016, he
officially became the Republican nominee, with four months till election day. While Clinton formally announced her candidacy around the same time
as Trump, her run was planned and anticipated since her failed 2008 campaign.
Despite the differences between the Republican Party and Democratic Party, they both desire the same outcome of their own nominating process.
Briefly, the both desire a candidate who can win and represents their core stances, goals, and values. First, if either party

elected position. A few years later in 2006, Booker won the election for Mayor of Newark. In 2013, Booker was elected senator of New Jersey.
Since then Booker has been a highly vocal and devoted senator. He is dedicated to fighting for his beliefs and serving his constituency. Although
Cory Booker would make an excellent president, there are a few things I would advise him on before starting his campaign. First, you have to start
early. Traveling and campaigning is an obvious an essential part of the run for president. With such a large and diverse country to represent, a great
deal of time and energy must be allotted to visiting different areas of the nation. If given ample time, you will be able to visit and spend time in crucial
cities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a simple statement but in fact it is much harder to accomplish than it seems. The incentive to win votes leads candidates to make promises they
cannot fulfill or endorse things they do not believe in. While many voters make concerted efforts to understand the stances and voting records of various
candidates, the relatability factor is hugely important in deciding who gets elected. Voters want to see themselves reflected in their government.
Clearly a person who is supposed to represent and serve the American people must be an identifiable and sympathetic character. Booker is smart
and intelligent and has interests of his own. He shouldn't let a publicist tell him what activities to do or how to appear with his family. The
American public wants to see an everyday man who is fit and willing to serve our nation. The picture perfect family is a false standard that is no
longer applicable. We saw this with Trump. His family is far from traditional but that did not stop him from gaining people's trust through his grit
and tenacity. People identified with his frankness and perspective as a business man. In this case, his lack of political experience worked in his
favor because he appeared to be more in touch with the everyday life of his supporters. Trying to be someone you're not and fabricating a personal
life to appeal to the public will not work; people can tell. This was a common joke about Hillary Clinton that she was trying too hard to be cool in
order to appeal to the youth and urban voters. To some, this made her seem even more out of touch. When you fake it, you seem like you have
something to hide and it turns people off of your campaign. What people value most is (at least the illusion of) honesty and integrity. Being genuine
and charismatic, while not qualifications one can put on a resume, are hugely important in a successful

Analysis Of The Movie ' The Manchurian Candidate '
On the surface, the movie The Manchurian Candidate presents a parallel universe inspired by the paranoid right–wing illusions of people who believed
in the Red Scare. The film itself crosses over into several different dramas: war film, political satire, paranoid science fiction, black comedy,
suspenseful intrigue, and horror. The notion that the Russian and Chinese Communists were working together to take over the U.S. by infiltrating
them was a common idea. Because of the communist brainwashing when captured, Raymond Shaw's lack of agency allows him to be controlled by
outside influences in order to infiltrate the United States. The paranoia and fear of losing control to the communists during the Red Scare is paralleled
in the film to a fear of the power that women had over men. The relationship that Raymond Shaw has with the women in his life is in complete
opposition of the "normal" relationships men had with women during the Cold War. This opposition is analogous throughout the entire movie,
especially in the dream sequence and in relation to Eleanor Shaw. Distorted representations of both men and women, which are not of the customary
gender roles during this time, contribute to the formation of a pubic spectacle.
The relationship between Eleanor and Raymond Shaw is not detailed in the movie, however her explicit control over him is evident. The Jocasta
complex presented in the novel creates a conflict for the remainder of Raymond's life. His mother controls Raymond

The Newly Developed Multinational Personnel Selection System
Question 1: What strengths and what shortcomings do you see in the newly developed multinational personnel selection system? The company
recognizes that there are problems in the existing personnel selections, so they delegated the committee to address the problem. The new selection
shows promise as it improves the the old selection process. Some of the strengths include: "6–eye–method": This "6–eye–method" is the newly
developed process where three people will be analyzing the qualifications and suitability of the applicants. Compared with the old assessment conducted
by external consulting firms, this ensure reliability and credibility as the firm can find candidates that they are actually looking for. This preliminary
selection allows the recruiters to focus more on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and others (KSAOs) of the applicants. As people have different
judgments and opinions, this provides a just screening of the candidates without any biases or prejudices involved. Although time consuming and
costly, this process ensures that all potential and promising candidates will have higher chance of being selected. Phone interviews: This method has
been proven to be very cooperative and beneficial to many recruiters. Since this is considered as the first direct contact with the applicant without
incurring any travel expenses. In addition, the phone call can encourage the applicant to listen to a question and respond it in their respective time and
manner.

Pre Selection Or Deliberate Election
Pre–selection or Deliberate Election: Village Election in China

Intro
The village is the most basic administrative unit in China, whose administrative units range from basic to advance is village, country, city and province.
Village self–governing has been viewed as a very democratic field in China and democratization in Chinese villages is stable and rapid, which

Organic Law of Villager Committees
Village Election Law was pursued in the 1980s, enacted nationally since 1987 and after further extended and revised. It becomes Organic Law of
Villager Committees in the 1998. Village election is part of village self–governing, which appears in the 1982 revision of Article 111 of the Chinese
Constitution Law. Organic Law of Villager Committees confirms the absolute, multi–candidate election of village committees and is the milestone in
the democratisation of China.
According to Article 11 of Organic Law of Villager Committees, villager committees are elected for a term of three years and consist of committees'
director, committee's associate director and committee's member. General elections are held every three years and the former Villager Committees
would be replaced. Organic Law of Villager Committees specifies the qualification of candidates. Production of candidates requires three steps. First,
the candidates should be nominated directly by the voters. Second, candidates should be reviewed for qualification by villager election committees.
Last, all candidates would be published in the official list of candidates to inform the voters. These three steps are under the organizing of the villager
election committees. According to Article 121 of Organic Law of Villager Committees, villager

Kasich 's campaign to tweet out a subliminal message of "I hate liars." Last Wednesday, Cruz tried to get the media 's attention away from Trump 's

Recruitment Proposal For Senior Level Talent
MEMORANDUM
TO:CEO, HSS
FROM:Alyise Johnson, HR Director
DATE:April 29, 2015
SUBJECT:Recruitment and Staffing Proposal for Senior Level Talent As requested during our last meeting, you shared with me your personal desire
and HSS's need to establish a new recruitment and selection process for employing senior level staff. Below I have provided a few of the top options
that the organization can easily put in place for the use of recruiting and selection new senior level staff.
Recruitment Methods Recruiting suitable candidates that are able to adequately handle and manage senior level positions of the organization takes a
great deal of time and patience. Placing inexperienced individuals into advanced positions within HHS could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2.Recruiters. For organizations that do not have the time or the resources to find suitable candidates, they hire headhunters and recruiting companies to
do the searching for them. These headhunters and recruiters hunt down the best individuals in their particular fields, having thoroughly researched their
complete background, including their experience and accomplishments, and basically "sell" these individuals to the appropriate organization. (Sutton,
2009) These companies also certify the candidates they recommend, providing a "money–back guarantee" if an organization is not completely satisfied
after a specific period of time.
3.Gamification. Gamification is the use of gaming principles and design in non–gaming situations and identifies potential employees by posing virtual
challenges that require the skills necessary for a given job. Gamification is effective because it can test a skill set, associate the company with
something people enjoy and produce a virtual feel for the culture of a particular workplace.
Selection Methods Selecting suitable candidates for senior level positions of the organization is also an essential undertaking. There are several
considerations an organization must take into an account about a candidate before hiring them.
1.Credentials Assessment. It is very important to know what experience and skillset a candidate brings with

Based on these indicators, it is fairly clear that, at least in a macroeconomic sense, the US economy is doing well. Based on Vavreck's theory, we should
therefore expect that Clinton runs a clarifying campaign, focused on the economy, while Trump should be running an insurgent campaign, trying to
move focus away from the economy. However, in order to test Vavreck's we need to look at what eachcandidate is doing to see if they are following

The results are reported in table 1. While Clinton is addressing the 'economy' substantially more than Trump, almost 7% of Clinton tweets explicitly
address the economy were as only 1% of Trump's tweets do, it is not the most commonly mentioned words mentioned by Clinton. Vavreck says that if
a candidate is running a clarifying campaign, they should both talk about it the most, and talk about it more than their opponent. If we expand the
words included beyond just economy and include words like pay, tax, trade and jobs, Clintons economic is still substantially larger, 19%, than Trumps,
12%, but still is not the largest. Over the last month, Clinton's tweets have been dominated by safety considerations. Words like violence, gun, terrorist
and safe are used in a quarter of all her tweets during the time period studied.

Attitudes Between Men And Women
In the election held in 2013, only two WC made it to the parliament, although women made up more than 53% of the electorate. These two candidates
received the highest number of tweets about the WC before the election.
RQ1: Attitudes according to gender
While the negative tweets outnumbered the positive ones (31% negative versus 21% positive), the women tweeters expressed significantly more
positive attitudes towards WC than the men tweeters did (X2 = .21, p = 0.01). Women contributed 385 tweets (38% positive, 36% neutral, and 26%
negative), while men contributed 797 tweets (20% positive, 38% neutral, and 42% negative). The remainder of the relevant tweets were generated by
news sites.

The second dominant theme, however, did represent an objective, candidate–based acceptance, in which a tweeter was favorable towards a candidate
because of her personal traits and political skills. The most prevalent subtheme under this theme was the moral traits of the WC, such as being
"modest," "patriotic," and/or "religious." Other tweeters favored WC because of their knowledge and sagacity. Women tweeters were more interested
in showing a positive attitude toward a candidate because of her looks.
The third positive theme spoke to the political skills of WC as they were evidenced in a previous parliamentary term or as they were expected to
show up after they win election. Satisfaction with past political performance was a major subtheme of this positive theme. Praise of the
communication skills of these candidates represents another major subtheme. Tweeters, especially women, placed a special emphasis on the
communication skills of the candidates, praising them for their "eloquence," "sophistication as speakers," and "cogent logic while talking to the
media." They described the speaking style of one WC as "making the liver of the listener cooler" (a Kuwaiti colloquial expression connoting a good
mood and a positive reaction).
The fourth positive theme was gender–based, in which tweeters expressed a positive

Analysis Of The Film 'The Candidate'
The 1972 film The Candidate is a satirical piece focused on the campaign process in the U.S. The campaign which is analyzed is the race for
California's senator. The protagonist of the story is Bill McKay, a man who has a disdain for politics due to his father's involvement as a state senator
years before. However, when a campaign manager Marvin Lucas shows up on his door step asking him to run against the fifteen–year
incumbent,Crocker Jarmon, Bill's preconceived notions of becoming a politician are shaken. Lucas convinces McKay that if he campaigns, his
platform will be centered on bringing awareness to issues that he cares about (should I insert specifics?) not necessarily winning. Mckay's
campaign would then function similarly to that of a third party; calling attention to difficult issues current politicians tended to avoid. Lucas was
so confident in the idea that McKay will not win that he writes "You lose." in a matchbox and gives it to McKay. Once McKay announces his
decision to run as a Democrat nominee for senator his campaign envelopes his life. Immediately McKay's media advisor orders him to cut his hair,
and dress tastefully to reflect a professional image. Then his schedule is packed by his campaign staff with the regularities of campaigning like
banquets, rallies, and interviews. Any free time left is allotted to filming infomercials or political ads.[ McKay's exhaustion due to the campaign's
rigorous routine was later displayed in the film through his slurred speech while he jumbled the lines of his repetitious speech while he was
driving to another event.] The infomercials themselves were altercations of footage gathered from various staged events which he used during the
primaries to get his name out and explain his stance on some policies. McKay's first stage event was in a poorer region of California where he
spoke to locals about issues involving employment. In the original footage McKay comes off as awkward not knowing how to spark a conversation
with the men and women walking by, but after editing magic a voice over is used to get his message across in a local broadcast. The second stage
event involves McKay approaching a group of youth on the beach and connects with them by

How Campaigns Are Affected By Public Opinion
Returning to the three original polls, these measures of public opinion are useful. Throughout the year, we have discussed how campaigns are affected
by public opinion, especially because the debates had just begun. Right now, while candidates are trying to win their respective party nominations,
they are going to try to appeal to the opinions of Republicans and Democrats separately. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are not trying to appeal to
the same base as Donald Trump and Jeb Bush. These polls are meaningful and candidates should be mindful of them, because people care about this
issue. The three polls I have examined are similar in numbers, but there is a bit of disparity between the Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion
Strategies and CBS News and the New York Timespoll and the poll done by Quinnipiac University. The percentage of respondents saying that there
should be a pathway to citizenship in the poll collaborated on by Hart and Public Opinion Strategies was 47%, but 55% in the Quinnipiac poll, and
61% in the CBS/New York Times poll for the final days of July. A 14% difference seems to be a significant difference, especially when one number
is not a majority of the population. Over the time of the debate period, the numbers have stayed in the upper 50s. For that reason, I think that these can
be meaningful polls that represent the population as a whole. Overall, opinion seems to tend to be more in favor of letting people stay who came here

The Campaign Of 2016 Campaign
In modern campaign races, candidates must find new and unique ways to connect with United States citizens. In the United States, the campaign of
2016 started off and continues to show a shift in issues citizens currently find important. The campaign has been unique for who ran and continue to run
for the title of nominee. There are some veterans such as Hillary Rodham Clinton and some new to the race such as Ben Carson. The Republican
Nomination for 2016 more than the Democrat's has brought a large spectrum of different candidates with distinctive rhetoric and stances on issues to
the public eye. An individual that stood out greatly against the grain was Donald John Trump. Trump's work withThe Apprentice did help to get his face
known in the public, but may not the reason he attained a large support on the campaign trail. Other factors such as personality traits and social media
contribute additionally to how well Trump campaigned. Trump contain some traits such as an appeal to voters through his rhetoric, an association with
the Republican party, and utilization of social media. Trump's effective usage of these two methods allowed him to become the Republican Nominee.
Trump's appearance on social media platforms gave potential voters an idea of where they know him prior to running for the presidential office. Donald
Trump's television show, The Apprentice, depicts many of the similar skills and traits the Republican Nominee implements into his campaign strategy.

The Debate On The Circus Acts That Were Called The 1st...
After viewing the circus acts that were called the 1st presidential debate and the vice–presidential debate that aired earlier in the month, my
expectations for the 2nd debate were not too high. Unfortunately my even my low expectations were not met and I felt as though there was not a large
enough improvement during this debate to have made any difference from the first one. While we saw some improvement in terms of candidate
behavior, the rest of the debate was severely lacking in substance. Questions posed by the audience were shallow, then made even more so by the
follow up questions from the moderators. On the topic of moderators, there appears to be a continuing theme of their lack of effectiveness that has
carried throughout all of the debates including this one. Leading up to the 2nd debate we have seen the results of having two candidates with political
views on complete opposite poles and personalities to match. The events of the first debate can easily be described as throwing water into a pot of hot
oil and just watching it happen. Throughout the debate we had seen Donald Trump repeatedly interrupt and attempt to interject as Hillary Clinton was
speaking in an effort to defend himself. However this interruptions were more of a nuisance, especially due to most of them being composed of the
words 'no' and 'not true'. Fortunately for the sake of everyone watching the debate, Trump learned to better control his interruptions and was largely
silent while it was

Presidential Candidate Donald Trump 's Campaign Strategy...
I would like to discuss Presidential Candidate Donald Trump's campaign strategy and plan. Donald Trump is a commonly known business mogul
and celebrity. He is mainly known for his very large ego and commentary as well as his Real Estate background passed down from his father. He has
gone bankrupt three times, which seems to be a large contradiction among his great deal of success of which he claims. Regardless of his past Donald
Trump has decided and announced that he is running for president for 2016. Trump has a large background in business and real estate and if you
watched the early debates, you would know that by him repeatedly saying how great his business is and how much money he has made. Trump is
no question extremely successful with his claimed wealth and business status. Although Trump is successful with his real estate, it does not mean
that he will know what to do when he is in the White House. Trump has no political background what so ever so it seems hard to believe that he
would be able to run the country. The lack of political knowledge Trump has is startling, yet he has tremendous backing among polling results. He
is in the lead now and has been for quite some time now. He has said multiple times that he has good people that will work for him and they will do
a great job. His key phrase "we are going to make our country great again" has been the main focus of every one of his speeches. He continuously
states that he is going to make this

The Representation Of Women In Politics In The United States
Women for far too long have had a hard time being taken seriously, especially in politics. Historically, politics has been a boys club: we've never
had a female president, of the 535 seats in congress just a little over a hundred of them are filled by female representatives and only 20% of the
members of the senate are women. Even in our modern government, we still have such an underrepresentation of women, which poses the question:
why is this? Why is it so much harder for women to be involved in politics? Regardless of whether we are comparing men and women in media,
sports, business, politics, etc., it seems our society is often times much harsher on females than males, so we must ask our selves: What makes us more
critical of women than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the debate, specifically the section I analyzed about fitness to be president, Donald Trump acts childish and immature. He constantly interrupts
both Clinton and Wallace simply to assert his dominance and to ensure he is being heard. There were numerous times during the debate that
Clinton, during her allotted speaking time, would be interrupted with phrases like "wrong!" or "that's a lie" and would even speak over her, when
she had been given the floor. All in all, the debate was a perfect example of the ways in which our society oppresses the outspokenness, ideas and
assertiveness of women. It is so much harder for women to be involved in not only politics but in all other jobs because of how much men try to
silence women and ignore their contributions. The way Donald Trump treated Hillary Clinton during this debate was a prime example as to why
women talk less. He constantly talked down to her, tried to invalidate her points and went out of his way to speak over her and interrupt her. Cameron
talks about the solutions men offer to problems that plague women's equality and how they believe this is all it takes, "If the problem is female
unassertiveness, the solution is for women to be more assertive. If the problem is that public discussions are conducted according to men's rules rather
than women's, the solution is to get more women involved." However, she, like most other

The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay
The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films portray paranoia, mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes
satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve
similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake
placed them in Kuwait. Demme did changed the location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In 1962, the threat of
communism was at the forefront of everyone's thoughts. However, during 2004, only three years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, citizens were no longer

The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The
calm and genteel ladies garden party is a stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to
convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor's husband, Senator Iselin, presents the supposed number (which he is
constantly changing) of communists in the state department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused communists during the
red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that
Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in
the film. The 1950's portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The
remake focused on keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. In the original movie, the audience is shown,
as well as told by the narrator, that the platoon was captured and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in the remake, Major Marco and the

Essay about Clean Car Care: Making a Job Offer
Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer–Mueller (2012) describe a job offer as an attempt to persuade a creation of an employment relationship on the part of
an organization. In the case of Clean Car Care (3Cs), Arlan Autospritz is experiencing a challenging decision. He is, for the first time, attempting to
execute an external hire in a management position within the organization. He has narrowed down the search to two candidates, each attractive in their
own distinct ways. In extending a job offer, Arlan has several tactics he can consider, various incentives beyond basesalary, and terms he can include in

A lowball strategy involves extending an offer where the terms offered are on the lower range (Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer–Mueller, 2012). If a
candidate is desperate or naive, this tactic can serve to secure a candidate at a lower outlay or affords a greater room to negotiate with a candidate
(Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer–Mueller, 2012). Jane, the number one candidate, has a great deal of supervisory experience, is anticipating both a
counteroffer and a promotion at her current employer, and needs to know the terms of the offer quickly based on these facts. While Jane is willing
and eager to relocate and is easily within the current managers salary, the previous facts negate a lowball tactic in this case (Heneman, Judge, &
Kammeyer–Mueller, 2012).
Competitive
Arlan has a suitable alternative candidate in Betts Cook; that being said, if Jane is the top choice, Arlan is best moving forward with a competitive
offer. Based on the quality of the second choice candidate, a best–shot offer is not necessarily needed. While it could serve to secure Jane's acceptance
quickly, Arlan is safe offering a fair offer to Jane and negotiating small details without making an over–the–top deal to begin with. Arlan is aware of the
salaries offered within his industry as well as Jane's current salary, so he is well prepared to negotiate a fair base salary (Monster, 2014). In offering a
competitive salary, Arlan is less likely to offend Jane with a lowball offer and

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates
It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles' heel of the modern presidency is one of recruitment. The long–winded delegate nomination process
could in theory be replaced by a daylong direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn out
quadrennially over the pre–primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four phases influence the outcome ofcandidate selection and
much also depends on campaign finance, the role of the media and the nominees themselves.
Although the process is considered a "complex, drawn–out affair" in the eyes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the National Party Convention, rests with Party
activists who meet first at a local, then county and finally at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the
Party elite who have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993, p.95), the system tended to be dominated and
controlled by party bosses, as "deals were cut in smoke–filled rooms," rather than by ordinary rank–and–file members. This was far from democratic,
and since the controversy surrounding Humphrey's nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968, the McGovern–Fraser Commission established
reforms which saw the advent of the 'Media Primary.' Since 1972, this procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by
Republican delegates in 1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state–wide intra–party elections mean that any supporters can vote for a
nominee to send to the National Convention and although these elected delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more than
a ratification of the preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level of political participation, as voters could feel a part of
the decision making process. Some primaries, such as Michigan State, saw a significantly

Workforce diversity helps to manage the change that has taken place in the workforce from a manufacturing to a service industry that Bollman Hotels

understand their internal market its customers to operate best (Cascio, 2013). Third, many businesses are requiring increased teamwork (Cascio,
2013). Bollman has experience with this demand in Minnesota with peak operating seasons and have had to increase the number of personnel that

There is a point when politics begin saturating daily life from the incredible overload of constant argument and confusion. I personally dream of the day

new leader. While many at this level of the organization are leery of any change in leadership and change is inherently disruptive to the work groups.
Additionally, some workers may have unique and uncomfortable personal situation, known to the former leader which will need to be explained again
to a new leader. Most importantly,

Political Stereotypes
Leaders throughout history have made a vital choice regarding their reputations, deciding whether he or she desires to be feared or loved by his or her
citizens. Many have chosen to instill fear, in hopes that such an arrangement will lead to more absolute control. Others opted for love, coveting peace
and cooperation between citizen and government. Whichever they choose, leaders have repeatedly chosen one method over the other. As time time
passes, however, citizens demand more dynamic and flexible leaders. In response, political advertising has evolved to mirror public opinion, producing
ads that portray candidates in multiple ways, from varying perspectives, and in initially counterintuitive lights. In "Fear and Quoting", the Conservative

The combined effect is one that amplifies the intensity of the entire advertisement. The moving frames adds a sort of franticness to the the ad, which
magnifies the need for Marco Rubio's leadership. Further, the moving text of the quotes and the enlarging captions both emphasize the words on screen
and make Rubio appear to the a steady leader in the midst of all the instability. When coupled with the music, this effect is amplified. The music would
not be out of place in a Jason Bourne chase scene, heightening the tone of the entire advertisement. There also is a pronounced shift in the music; when
Marco Rubio is depicted greeting supporters and making dals, the music brightens considerably which adds a more positive connotation to this section
of the ad. The brightening of the music occurs simultaneously with the aforementioned brightening of color, which markedly multiplies the overall
impact of the two choices. Thus, the moving frame and shifting music work well to reiterate the multiple facets of Rubio's leadership

  • 3. The Kentucky House Of Representative Candidates Forum For... The second group I attended was the Kentucky House of Representative Candidates Forum for house districts: 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14. This group was attended by me via online and took place on campus at Brescia University in Owensboro Kentucky. The Candidates Forum was held on Monday October 17 from 7:00pm–8:30pm CDT. The scene was that of an auditorium with six candidates seated at a table in the front and to what appeared to be the group moderator at a podium to the right of the room. The camera did not focus in on much of the audience for me to give an accurate description, but there were several members there to observe and many had questions for the Candidates. The Kentucky House of Representatives Candidate Forum was an open–ended group. In other words, it was open to the public primarily because it had a political agenda for gaining voters for the Candidates that shared their views. The Candidates Forum can be identified by several of the groups mentioned in our text, but the two groups that I feel best fit the description are: Educational group and a Focus Group. First, I identified it with an educational because the Candidates objective is to educate the viewers on their political stance in the race as well as educate the viewers about important issues that need to be addressed. Lastly, I identified it with a focus group because a focus group 'is closely related to task groups and problem–solving and decision–making groups in that they identify needs or issues, ... • 4. When People Think Of A Presidential Election, Chances Are When people think of a presidential election, chances are that they will focus on election night itself, completely ignoring the nomination process that came before it. Although our current nomination process has been around for over one hundred years, it has not been without its complications. For almost thirty years, states have been guilty of front–loading – which Dictionary.com defines as the process of concentrating maximum effort on an activity at the outset (Dictionary.com, n.d.). Every year, different states change their primary orcaucus dates to fall earlier in the year, effectively front–loading the presidential campaign every four years. As stated in my prospectus, my proposed reform involves adopting an open primary schedule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, a caucus is a public vote in which people in specific regions meet up and physically move from one side of a room to another after listening to candidates ' debates to make their choice. When the primaries/caucuses are over, the delegates, who represent the votes of the citizens, travel to their parties ' national convention in which the delates meet with super delegates. It is here that together, they make their choice for presidential nominee (Olson, 2016). I believe this current system is not democratic enough because front–loading of presidential campaigns has many drawbacks. To begin, front–loading hurts the democratic nature of the nomination process because it hurts the states. All states, by the power of the constitution, are democratic and can choose to participate in the nomination process of their choosing. Be it a caucus or a primary, delegates and super delegates are always involved. The current nomination system is part of our representative democracy in which we, the people, vote for representatives to represent us in government (Dahl, 2003, p.73). As the presidential race progresses from state to state, the race itself becomes less and less about platform issues and increasingly more about delegate counts and spending large sums of money used for convincing the American public to vote a precise way. If candidates will be bouncing back and forth from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component of many organizational management structures. While it can be an extremely effective management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected results. This is the case we see presented in the case study for this assignment. It seems that our manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be delegated. To her credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step, as discussed within our text. While we don't know the extent of the items that may have been included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data and generating a monthly statistical report. It's at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. While we know in our case study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we don't have any indication that she performed her due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Interview Analysis : President Of The United States Essay Interview Analysis One may be making a virtuous decision when choosing the lesser of two evils, but one will still find himself stuck with an evil choice. Many Americans today find themselves in this predicament when considering the only two real possible choices for President of the United States. On one hand, voters have former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who the Federal Bureau of Investigations labeled "careless" and "grossly negligent" in the handling of America 's top secret information. On the other hand, voters have Donald Trump, who persistently attacked a Gold Star Family. It is easy to see how the Pew Research Center has reported that there is widespread skepticism among registered voters concerning the presidential race. The poll reported that a higher percentage of voters thought that both candidates would make "terrible presidents" rather than merely "average presidents'"(Pew Poll, August 2016). Americans are very unhappy with their two choices for President of the United States. The three main reasons behind this dissatisfaction are increasing negative partisanship, media 's constant push of a narrative to appeal to their base, and the overall qualities of the candidates themselves. I interviewed ten people to test this statement and its contributing factors. Additionally, during these interviews the hope was that most of the subjects would be able to identify these determining causes that have contributed to their unhappiness with both Donald ... • 9. Analysis Of Alfred Schutz 's ' The Well Informed Citizen ' In the year of a presidential election the media is flooded with an unhealthy amount of news about almost every facet of the candidate's life. This information is presented in different lights to hungry audiences, all of those who wish to either see the best or worst of the potential President. Each individual member of this audience belongs to a different mindset and has their own background knowledge associated with the news they are consuming. Although people read the news with different intent and expected gain of knowledge, they all get the same amount of information. The best way to begin to explain the audience's expectance of the news is to look at the ideas presented in Alfred Schutz's, "The Well–Informed Citizen". The "man–on–the–street" is the general population who takes in information to stay relevant and maintain a stock of little insights to share with colleagues. They tend to only read the news article 's lead, that first small paragraph that contains all the important information, they take that information and add it to their conversation starter list without considering its validity. Alfred Schutz's idea is that, "This knowledge in all its vagueness is still sufficiently precise for the practical purpose at hand."(122). This is not to demean the "man–on–the–street" for his lack of comprehensive information, but to point out how one reads into the newspaper and utilizes that information. Below I have provided a few of the top options that the organization can easily put in place for the use of recruiting and selection new senior level staff. Recruitment Methods Recruiting qualified candidates that are able to adequately handle and manage senior level positions of the organization takes a great deal of time and patience. Placing individuals who are not sufficiently knowledgeable at a "senior level" could cause an organization a great deal of damage and money. It's therefore advisable for every organization to apply some of these methods. There are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There might be employees working as junior staffs but they have the required qualifications thus when an opportunity arises they are given the priority. Selection Methods Selecting suitable candidates for senior level positions of the organization is also an essential undertaking. There are several considerations an organization must take into an account about a candidate before hiring them. 1.Credentials Assessment. It is very important to know what experience and skillset a candidate brings with them when joining an organization. Individuals with higher degrees, received from premier colleges demonstrate commitment through their qualifications. (McDonald, 2012) 2.Position Matching. Another vital component to the selection process is matching the right individual to the position. For example, a senior level staff member in charge of the organization's finances must have experience and knowledge relating to the management of how a company's finances are handled. If the candidate's experience and skills do not match the position being filled, then obviously, this candidate is not the right match. Hiring a candidate with only some of the skills needed for that specific position could put the organization in a very compromising position. (McDonald, 2012) 3.Personal Characteristics. Another imperative element when selecting senior staff is their personal characteristics in relation to their leadership ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Manchurian Candidate Film Analysis During the late 1940s and the early 1950s, the thought of communism instilled fear within many Americans because it was portrayed in such a way that confined diversity and corroded political culture while the United States was supposed to be the land of the free. This fear of communism was nicknamed the "Red Scare" and was fed by Joseph McCarthy's accusations of hidden communist in the country. The Manchurian Candidate was a black–and–white American film released in 1962 that depicted the Cold War and the affects of that paranoia had on the nation. It was released at the peak of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the spread of communism. This film was about Raymond Shaw, the son of a right–wing political family, who was brainwashed to act as an assassin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Americans were concerned with being brainwashed unwillingly and unknowingly due to communism, the thought of remembering while not in control of ones own mind poses a greater horror. While Shaw describes what happened when he and the other soldiers were captured, the camera cuts to close up frame of his face. The camera is up close and personal with Raymond and he can be seen to be sweating non–stop, almost as if he were nervous about something. However, his eyes remain steady which disproves the previous statement. The direct, straightforward close up camera angle of Shaw's face places an important role of showing the readers the emotions that cross his face. His nervousness of his past actions makes it seem like there is more sweat on his face and this is beginning to show his lack of control but also a state of enlightenment. Even though it seems like he is becoming aware of what is happening and he is concerned of his previous actions, there is still no hesitation when he follows Marco's orders. This camera frame clearly shows the lack of human agency in Raymond Shaw at this point because as he is explaining his actions, he is clearly disturbed and shocked at what he did but he cannot control the movement of his hands or the information he is giving out. • 13. Analysis Of Donald Trump 's Presidential Election Once a candidate becomes a party's official nominee the general election race begins. However, if there is a presumptive nominee before their convention they will usually begin their general campaign. Becoming an official nominee is a very big process and takes months, even years. For example, Donald Trump's process to becoming the Republican nominee began about twenty months before the election. It began in March 2015 when he formed an exploratory committee. Then, in June 2015, Trump announced his candidacy for president. He then began debating, fundraising, endorsements seeking, and other nomination seeking acts. He also assembled his campaign and set up ground operations to get on states ballots. In February 2016, the first primary elections began. After losing the first primary in Iowa, Donald Trump won the New Hampshire primary. With this he began winning delegates. Finally, in May 2016, Trump, secured over 1237 delegates and became the presumptive nominee. Lastly, in July 2016, he officially became the Republican nominee, with four months till election day. While Clinton formally announced her candidacy around the same time as Trump, her run was planned and anticipated since her failed 2008 campaign. Despite the differences between the Republican Party and Democratic Party, they both desire the same outcome of their own nominating process. Since then Booker has been a highly vocal and devoted senator. He is dedicated to fighting for his beliefs and serving his constituency. Although Cory Booker would make an excellent president, there are a few things I would advise him on before starting his campaign. First, you have to start early. Traveling and campaigning is an obvious an essential part of the run for president. With such a large and diverse country to represent, a great deal of time and energy must be allotted to visiting different areas of the nation. If given ample time, you will be able to visit and spend time in crucial cities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a simple statement but in fact it is much harder to accomplish than it seems. The incentive to win votes leads candidates to make promises they cannot fulfill or endorse things they do not believe in. While many voters make concerted efforts to understand the stances and voting records of various candidates, the relatability factor is hugely important in deciding who gets elected. Voters want to see themselves reflected in their government. Clearly a person who is supposed to represent and serve the American people must be an identifiable and sympathetic character. Booker is smart and intelligent and has interests of his own. He shouldn't let a publicist tell him what activities to do or how to appear with his family. The American public wants to see an everyday man who is fit and willing to serve our nation. The picture perfect family is a false standard that is no longer applicable. We saw this with Trump. His family is far from traditional but that did not stop him from gaining people's trust through his grit and tenacity. People identified with his frankness and perspective as a business man. In this case, his lack of political experience worked in his favor because he appeared to be more in touch with the everyday life of his supporters. Trying to be someone you're not and fabricating a personal life to appeal to the public will not work; people can tell. This was a common joke about Hillary Clinton that she was trying too hard to be cool in order to appeal to the youth and urban voters. To some, this made her seem even more out of touch. When you fake it, you seem like you have something to hide and it turns people off of your campaign. What people value most is (at least the illusion of) honesty and integrity. • 15. The President Of The United States Essay One may be making a virtuous decision when choosing the lesser of two evils, but one will still find himself stuck with an evil choice. On the other hand, voters have Donald Trump, who has said "he would like to ban all Muslims". Additionally, during these interviews the hope was that most of the subjects would be able to identify these determining causes that have contributed to their unhappiness with both Donald Trump and Hillary ... • 16. Analysis Of The Movie ' The Manchurian Candidate ' On the surface, the movie The Manchurian Candidate presents a parallel universe inspired by the paranoid right–wing illusions of people who believed in the Red Scare. The film itself crosses over into several different dramas: war film, political satire, paranoid science fiction, black comedy, suspenseful intrigue, and horror. The notion that the Russian and Chinese Communists were working together to take over the U.S. by infiltrating them was a common idea. Because of the communist brainwashing when captured, Raymond Shaw's lack of agency allows him to be controlled by outside influences in order to infiltrate the United States. The paranoia and fear of losing control to the communists during the Red Scare is paralleled in the film to a fear of the power that women had over men. The relationship that Raymond Shaw has with the women in his life is in complete opposition of the "normal" relationships men had with women during the Cold War. This opposition is analogous throughout the entire movie, especially in the dream sequence and in relation to Eleanor Shaw. Distorted representations of both men and women, which are not of the customary gender roles during this time, contribute to the formation of a pubic spectacle. The relationship between Eleanor and Raymond Shaw is not detailed in the movie, however her explicit control over him is evident. The Jocasta complex presented in the novel creates a conflict for the remainder of Raymond's life. His mother controls Raymond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company recognizes that there are problems in the existing personnel selections, so they delegated the committee to address the problem. Some of the strengths include: "6–eye–method": This "6–eye–method" is the newly developed process where three people will be analyzing the qualifications and suitability of the applicants. As people have different judgments and opinions, this provides a just screening of the candidates without any biases or prejudices involved. Although time consuming and costly, this process ensures that all potential and promising candidates will have higher chance of being selected. Phone interviews: This method has been proven to be very cooperative and beneficial to many recruiters. • 26. Analysis Of The Film 'The Candidate' The 1972 film The Candidate is a satirical piece focused on the campaign process in the U.S. The campaign which is analyzed is the race for California's senator. The protagonist of the story is Bill McKay, a man who has a disdain for politics due to his father's involvement as a state senator years before. However, when a campaign manager Marvin Lucas shows up on his door step asking him to run against the fifteen–year incumbent,Crocker Jarmon, Bill's preconceived notions of becoming a politician are shaken. Lucas convinces McKay that if he campaigns, his platform will be centered on bringing awareness to issues that he cares about (should I insert specifics?) not necessarily winning. Mckay's campaign would then function similarly to that of a third party; calling attention to difficult issues current politicians tended to avoid. Lucas was so confident in the idea that McKay will not win that he writes "You lose." in a matchbox and gives it to McKay. Once McKay announces his decision to run as a Democrat nominee for senator his campaign envelopes his life. Immediately McKay's media advisor orders him to cut his hair, and dress tastefully to reflect a professional image. Then his schedule is packed by his campaign staff with the regularities of campaigning like banquets, rallies, and interviews. Any free time left is allotted to filming infomercials or political ads.[ McKay's exhaustion due to the campaign's rigorous routine was later displayed in the film through his slurred speech while he jumbled the lines of his repetitious speech while he was driving to another event.] The infomercials themselves were altercations of footage gathered from various staged events which he used during the primaries to get his name out and explain his stance on some policies. McKay's first stage event was in a poorer region of California where he spoke to locals about issues involving employment. In the original footage McKay comes off as awkward not knowing how to spark a conversation with the men and women walking by, but after editing magic a voice over is used to get his message across in a local broadcast. Throughout the year, we have discussed how campaigns are affected by public opinion, especially because the debates had just begun. Right now, while candidates are trying to win their respective party nominations, they are going to try to appeal to the opinions of Republicans and Democrats separately. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are not trying to appeal to the same base as Donald Trump and Jeb Bush. These polls are meaningful and candidates should be mindful of them, because people care about this issue. The three polls I have examined are similar in numbers, but there is a bit of disparity between the Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies and CBS News and the New York Timespoll and the poll done by Quinnipiac University. The percentage of respondents saying that there should be a pathway to citizenship in the poll collaborated on by Hart and Public Opinion Strategies was 47%, but 55% in the Quinnipiac poll, and 61% in the CBS/New York Times poll for the final days of July. A 14% difference seems to be a significant difference, especially when one number is not a majority of the population. Over the time of the debate period, the numbers have stayed in the upper 50s. For that reason, I think that these can be meaningful polls that represent the population as a whole. Overall, opinion seems to tend to be more in favor of letting people stay who came here ... • 28. The Campaign Of 2016 Campaign In modern campaign races, candidates must find new and unique ways to connect with United States citizens. In the United States, the campaign of 2016 started off and continues to show a shift in issues citizens currently find important. The campaign has been unique for who ran and continue to run for the title of nominee. There are some veterans such as Hillary Rodham Clinton and some new to the race such as Ben Carson. The Republican Nomination for 2016 more than the Democrat's has brought a large spectrum of different candidates with distinctive rhetoric and stances on issues to the public eye. An individual that stood out greatly against the grain was Donald John Trump. Trump's work withThe Apprentice did help to get his face known in the public, but may not the reason he attained a large support on the campaign trail. Other factors such as personality traits and social media contribute additionally to how well Trump campaigned. Trump contain some traits such as an appeal to voters through his rhetoric, an association with the Republican party, and utilization of social media. Trump's effective usage of these two methods allowed him to become the Republican Nominee. Trump's appearance on social media platforms gave potential voters an idea of where they know him prior to running for the presidential office. • 29. The Debate On The Circus Acts That Were Called The 1st... After viewing the circus acts that were called the 1st presidential debate and the vice–presidential debate that aired earlier in the month, my expectations for the 2nd debate were not too high. Unfortunately my even my low expectations were not met and I felt as though there was not a large enough improvement during this debate to have made any difference from the first one. While we saw some improvement in terms of candidate behavior, the rest of the debate was severely lacking in substance. Questions posed by the audience were shallow, then made even more so by the follow up questions from the moderators. On the topic of moderators, there appears to be a continuing theme of their lack of effectiveness that has carried throughout all of the debates including this one. Leading up to the 2nd debate we have seen the results of having two candidates with political views on complete opposite poles and personalities to match. The events of the first debate can easily be described as throwing water into a pot of hot oil and just watching it happen. Throughout the debate we had seen Donald Trump repeatedly interrupt and attempt to interject as Hillary Clinton was speaking in an effort to defend himself. However this interruptions were more of a nuisance, especially due to most of them being composed of the words 'no' and 'not true'. Fortunately for the sake of everyone watching the debate, Trump learned to better control his interruptions and was largely silent while it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Presidential Candidate Donald Trump 's Campaign Strategy... I would like to discuss Presidential Candidate Donald Trump's campaign strategy and plan. Donald Trump is a commonly known business mogul and celebrity. He is mainly known for his very large ego and commentary as well as his Real Estate background passed down from his father. He has gone bankrupt three times, which seems to be a large contradiction among his great deal of success of which he claims. Regardless of his past Donald Trump has decided and announced that he is running for president for 2016. Trump has a large background in business and real estate and if you watched the early debates, you would know that by him repeatedly saying how great his business is and how much money he has made. Trump is no question extremely successful with his claimed wealth and business status. Although Trump is successful with his real estate, it does not mean that he will know what to do when he is in the White House. Trump has no political background what so ever so it seems hard to believe that he would be able to run the country. The lack of political knowledge Trump has is startling, yet he has tremendous backing among polling results. He is in the lead now and has been for quite some time now. He has said multiple times that he has good people that will work for him and they will do a great job. His key phrase "we are going to make our country great again" has been the main focus of every one of his speeches. He continuously states that he is going to make this ... • 31. The Representation Of Women In Politics In The United States Women for far too long have had a hard time being taken seriously, especially in politics. Historically, politics has been a boys club: we've never had a female president, of the 535 seats in congress just a little over a hundred of them are filled by female representatives and only 20% of the members of the senate are women. Even in our modern government, we still have such an underrepresentation of women, which poses the question: why is this? Why is it so much harder for women to be involved in politics? Regardless of whether we are comparing men and women in media, sports, business, politics, etc., it seems our society is often times much harsher on females than males, so we must ask our selves: What makes us more critical of women than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the debate, specifically the section I analyzed about fitness to be president, Donald Trump acts childish and immature. He constantly interrupts both Clinton and Wallace simply to assert his dominance and to ensure he is being heard. There were numerous times during the debate that Clinton, during her allotted speaking time, would be interrupted with phrases like "wrong!" or "that's a lie" and would even speak over her, when she had been given the floor. All in all, the debate was a perfect example of the ways in which our society oppresses the outspokenness, ideas and assertiveness of women. It is so much harder for women to be involved in not only politics but in all other jobs because of how much men try to silence women and ignore their contributions. The way Donald Trump treated Hillary Clinton during this debate was a prime example as to why women talk less. He constantly talked down to her, tried to invalidate her points and went out of his way to speak over her and interrupt her. Cameron talks about the solutions men offer to problems that plague women's equality and how they believe this is all it takes, "If the problem is female unassertiveness, the solution is for women to be more assertive. If the problem is that public discussions are conducted according to men's rules rather than women's, the solution is to get more women involved." However, she, like most other ... • 32. The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films portray paranoia, mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. Demme did changed the location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In 1962, the threat of communism was at the forefront of everyone's thoughts. The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and genteel ladies garden party is a stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor's husband, Senator Iselin, presents the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in the state department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused communists during the red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in the film. The 1950's portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. In the original movie, the audience is shown, as well as told by the narrator, that the platoon was captured and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in the remake, Major Marco and the ... A lowball strategy involves extending an offer where the terms offered are on the lower range (Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer–Mueller, 2012). If a candidate is desperate or naive, this tactic can serve to secure a candidate at a lower outlay or affords a greater room to negotiate with a candidate (Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer–Mueller, 2012). Jane, the number one candidate, has a great deal of supervisory experience, is anticipating both a counteroffer and a promotion at her current employer, and needs to know the terms of the offer quickly based on these facts. While Jane is willing and eager to relocate and is easily within the current managers salary, the previous facts negate a lowball tactic in this case (Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer–Mueller, 2012). Competitive Arlan has a suitable alternative candidate in Betts Cook; that being said, if Jane is the top choice, Arlan is best moving forward with a competitive offer. Based on the quality of the second choice candidate, a best–shot offer is not necessarily needed. While it could serve to secure Jane's acceptance quickly, Arlan is safe offering a fair offer to Jane and negotiating small details without making an over–the–top deal to begin with. Arlan is aware of the salaries offered within his industry as well as Jane's current salary, so he is well prepared to negotiate a fair base salary (Monster, 2014). • 35. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles' heel of the modern presidency is one of recruitment. The long–winded delegate nomination process could in theory be replaced by a daylong direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn out quadrennially over the pre–primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four phases influence the outcome ofcandidate selection and much also depends on campaign finance, the role of the media and the nominees themselves. In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the National Party Convention, rests with Party activists who meet first at a local, then county and finally at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the Party elite who have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993, p.95), the system tended to be dominated and controlled by party bosses, as "deals were cut in smoke–filled rooms," rather than by ordinary rank–and–file members. This was far from democratic, and since the controversy surrounding Humphrey's nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968, the McGovern–Fraser Commission established reforms which saw the advent of the 'Media Primary.' Since 1972, this procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by Republican delegates in 1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state–wide intra–party elections mean that any supporters can vote for a nominee to send to the National Convention and although these elected delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more than a ratification of the preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level of political participation, as voters could feel a part of the decision making process. Some primaries, such as Michigan State, saw a significantly ...
