Fourth Amendment Rights Essay
Fourth Amendment Paper Assignment Today, I am presented with a case that puts in question the
violation of individual s Fourth Amendment rights. This case also puts in question the rights of the
authority placed in our streets, neighborhoods and towns to perform actions directed towards
certain citizens in an effort to serve and protect the overall population. There must be a careful
analysis in order to interpret the records of the incident that occurred to conclude who holds the
most justified position in this case under the applicable laws. The Court of Appeals of the State of
New York must also take into careful consideration the circumstances discussed and the ruling given
by the District Court assigned to this case, which I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Defendant Miller evidently avoided walking by the officers. There are precise rules that involve the
stopping of an individual by the authority. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people
to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures
, shall not be violated... . Specific distinctions within the Amendment are made in the prior case of
Terry v. Ohio(392 U.S. 1 [1968]). These distinctions discuss the rules and regulations adherent to
stops of individuals by the authority. According to Justice Warren, delivering the opinion of the
court in this case, the police should be allowed to stop a person and detaining him briefly for
questioning upon suspicion that the individual may be connected with criminal activity . This
statement basically explains that unusual conduct of an individual observed by the authorities can
give reasonable suspicion that criminal activity may be afoot. This reasonable suspicion is
grounds for a stop and brief questioning by the authorities. So, accordingly following these sets of
rules, I must analyze how the law applies to reach a decision in favor, or in opposition to the stop
of an individual. Defendant Miller clearly showed unusual conduct while walking in the street. He
walked in one direction, looked toward the direction of the cops, and more profoundly made eye
contact with one

Relativity Of Truth In Life Of Pi
Life of Pi: The Relativity of Truth
The relativity of truth refers to truth relativism, which is the doctrine that there are no absolute
truths. The truth is always relative to some particular frame of reference. An example of truth
relativism is the The Dress trend which went viral because viewers disagreed over whether the
colors of the dress were black and blue or gold and white. Because of how a human perceives the
color, it could be either of these colors based on how a person sees it. The relativity of truth in the
Life of Pi includes and refers to the Blind Frenchman , the algae island, and which story Pi told the
interviewers was true.
To begin, when Pi went blind in chapter 90 and practically gave up on surviving, he heard a
voice. It s astonishing what you hear when you re alone in the blackness of your dying mind.
(Martel, Pg 242). To people, this could refer to Pi hearing an actual person or it could just be a
figment of his imagination. Misery loves company, and madness calls it forth. (Martel, Pg 242).
This adds to the theory that the voice Pi heard was just a figment of his imagination. Further on
in the novel, Pi meets and speaks to the Blind Frenchman after figuring out that it wasn t Richard
Parker he was talking to. Later on, Richard Parker killed the Frenchman and Pi explored his boat,
finding out that the Frenchman had lied to him about having food. What doesn t add up is that Pi
regained his eyesight two days after the Frenchman s murder and when he went to check out the
dead man s boat, he was still blind. This could mean that Pi didn t actually go on the Frenchman s
boat but was actually exploring his boat and that the man was a figment of his imagination to
suppress the loneliness Pi was feeling.
Furthermore, in chapter 92, Pi discovers an algae island with food to eat and land to settle on. Pi
stated ...that the island was not an island in the conventional sense of the term that is, a small
landmass rooted to the floor of the ocean but was rather a free floating organism... (Martel, Pg 271
272). One could assume that this wasn t an actual island, but something that Pi made up to add
depth to the story he was telling or this was an island that has never been

Examples Of Romantic Narrative In Mass Media
Romantic Narratives in Mass Media: The Construction of Ideals
As Television sales increased in the 1940s, more homes in the United States included TVs as a
common accessory in the family room. Since then, televisions have become another tool for
socialization individuals use to try and make sense of the world around them (Riesman, Denny,
Glaser, 1950). Furthermore, the combination of romance and mass media produced narratives
continues to be a prominent form of entertainment where TV writers and producers construct a
picture of what love should look like.
The way romantic relationships develop and the expectations individuals have for courtships
vary by culture; therefore, this proposed study will focus solely on images of idealized romance
through a Western lens. In general, romantic relationships in Western societies are guided by
personal choice, passion, and the notion of love at first sight. As you watch television or
popular movies in the United States, you can see examples of this type of love embedded into
our media. For instance, the CBS show How I Met Your Mother based each episode on the main
character, Ted Mosby s quest for love. As the show moves through its eight seasons, the viewer
sees Ted go from one unhappy relationship to another until he meets his ideal partner and
eventually finds true love. Many shows like this center around the main character s journey for his
or her soul mate. The media has created certain expectations of an idealized

If the logical mind, isn t enough to create motivation within us! Should we then let emotions
decide what we should be doing? Should we use emotions to prioritize? This might look really
emotional, but let s just look at it by this; You start considering things, prioritizing them in a
logical manner; your logical brain assigns a separate part to specific priority, but you still
somewhere in between let your emotions empower you anyway, and sometimes it s even

The On The Gender Machinery
The Gender machinery
In response to some of the described situational GBV s, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender
and Children s Affairs, is the countries national body for social welfare, gender and children s
rights for Sierra Leone. In 2007, 30 women s rights organisations joined a demonstration against
GBV. The national committee is made up of government institutions, UN agencies both national
and international organisation and are against GBV. There are also established regional GBV
committees for national action plans, in its implementation of UN security council resolutions
(UNSCR). Which are being made up of civil society organisations and traditional religious leaders

In the wake of the war, Sierra Leone has developed a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in it s
attempt to record impartial accounts of abuses that happened during the war directed towards
national reconciliation (kjjkl). In 2003 both UNIFEM and Urgent Action Fund for Women s Human
Rights, delivered a presentation on gender based human rights violations. Its focus was towards the
effect, armed conflict had on women and children. The program endorsed gender sensitivity in
managing girls and women victims statements whilst additionally building skill sets for conversing

Information Security And The Security Essay
While information security has many benefits in our technologically advancing environment, it also
comes with its own set of issues. Three of the top issues in keeping information secure are lack of
awareness, complacency, and no root cause analysis. Even more recently, we have experienced
issues with information securityand allegations of election hacking.
Some of our biggest challenges come with keeping information secure in the business world.
Auburn University researchers teamed up with the International Information Systems Security
Certificate Consortium to identify and rank the top information and security issues. Using a
worldwide sample of 874 certified information system security specialists, they ranked a list of top
25 information security issues based on which ones were most critical facing organizations today.
These 25 issues were: 1.) Top management support 2.) User awareness training and education 3.)
Malware 4.) Patch management 5.) Vulnerability and risk management 6.) Policy related issues 7.)
Organizational culture 8.) Access control and identity management 9.) Internal threats 10.) Business
continuity and disaster preparation 11.) Low funding and inadequate budgets 12.) Protection of
privileged information 13.) Network security architecture 14.) Security training for IT staff 15.)

The Fuller Invented Pieces Of Theatrical Lighting...
Loie Fuller invented pieces of theatrical lighting equipment. She created a unique art form by
crafting multi media spectacles out of fabric, motion and light. In Fuller s autobiography, she talks
about how the glass of the rose windows in the great cathedral had rays of sunlight that came on
into the church in different directions, and made it very colorful. I think this is a moment that
inspired her. It was something that caught her attention, and she just couldn t simply take her mind
from it. This was something that encouraged her to keep digging into the things lights and colors
can do in dance. In one of her videos, it shows her twirling her dress in many different ways while
her dress is also changing colors. This was very unexpected for me. It was different and it made
me think about the things she had to do to make this idea into a creation. I was also able to see
how the lights reflecting in the church inspired her because the color of her dress kept changing as
she twirled so smoothly. It was very settle and something you wouldn t usually notice right away
like the lights in the church. In the reading, she states, What is the dance? It is motion. What is
motion? The expression of a sensation. What is a sensation? The reaction in the human body
produced by an impression or an idea perceived by the mind. A sensation is the reverberation that
the body receives when an impression strikes the mind. (Fuller, 17). She is explaining the thought

Walt Disney was a real visionary in term of animations. He developed his capability to select new
ways to invent special cartoons, with a Disney s prestige that was going to be the most famous
brand in terms of family entertainment. Since Walt Disney s death in 1966, The Walt Disney

relationship Disney has been in place for a while with when Leonard Goldenson back in 1953
invested sufficient money so that the Disneyland theme park could be terminated. With this
relationship in place came efforts of cross promotion, which led to countless meetings and negations
within board members as of what would be the most beneficial option to Disney. Finally, in 1996
The Walt Disney Company acquired Capital Cities/ABC, and renamed the broadcasting group
ABC, Inc. (Eisner 2 357 371). The acquisition of ABC increased Disney costumer audience putting
them in a leading position in the entertainment industry.

Video Game Industry
I Introduction:
Video games are teachers that involve players into the virtual world. Nowadays, many video
games include violence in many of its aspects such as war, stealing, slaying and many more.
According to Video Games ProCon, 10 of the top 20 best selling video games in the US contained
violence. (ProCon, 2014), they also believe that violent video games have not only cons but also
pros; they stated that Violent juvenile crime in the United States has been declining as violent video
game popularity has increased. The arrest rate for juvenile murders has fallen 71.9% between
1995 and 2008. The arrest rate for all juvenile violent crimes has declined 49.3%. In this same
period, video game sales have more than quadrupled. (ProCon, 2014). However, the RWJF Blog
team stated that the California law describes Violent Video Games as a video game in which the
range of options available to a player includes killing, maiming, dismembering, or sexually
assaulting an image of a human being. (Fisk, 2010) meaning that when playing those games, the
player is not left with any option to resolve the issue but the previous ones. Many people believe
that Violent Video Games may have a negative impact on minors. According to the case, the
legislature of the California state propagated a law that bans underage minors from buying or
renting video games that include any form of violence, they believe that those games promotes the
feelings of aggression among minor players. The law was

John Steinbeck Happiness
People always say a hidden treasure could bring them happiness. Is that true or is it a talk to make
people happy? In the novel, The Pearl by John Steinbeck, a protagonist named Kino found a great
pearl that he thought his family would have a chance of getting money and education for his son.
However, instead of happiness, catastrophe starts to occur continuously. It made Kino and Juana

novel s plot was that, when someone found a gemstone, their future would suddenly change by

Developing Competitive Advantage Advantages And Disadvantages
F.Developing Competitive Advantages (refer to Exhibit 4.7) As previously stated, it is difficult to
pinpoint a competitive advantage due to of the hyper competitive environment. Our strengths of the
program are matched or exceeded by competitors. The areas we could potentially capitalize on are
our academic rigor, our passionate staff in Southeast Online and the nursing department who
provide excellent customer service, and the prevalence of nursing courses being taught by tenure
track faculty. However, we aren t the only program that has passionate staff, that teaches using
tenured faculty, and are academically rigorous. The only way to provide leverage is if we are able
to be the best in one of these area s compared to our top regional competitors due to of the
preference to attend within 100 miles from home. With all of our weaknesses and strengths
identified, and considering that our students ranked helpfulness of staff higher than quality of the
program, customer intimacy is our best chance of differentiating ourselves. There are multiple
weaknesses that can be converted into strengths, however the ability to do that will take a
substantial amount of time due to the culture. For example, time from application to enrollment.
When a student applies to the university, we can t accept them until we have received all of their
transcripts. Students are admitted and sent a notification to wait until the Registrar s Office

Gulf Oil Spill Research Paper
Introduction The Gulf Oil Spill was one of the worst oil spills in US History. It took place on
April 20, 2010. It happened about 42 miles off the coast of Louisiana, in the Gulf Of Mexico,
and by the Deepwater Horizon. About 672, 000 gallons (3.19 million barrels) of oil was dropped
into the ocean. Common names for it include: the Louisiana Oil Spill, Deepwater Horizon Oil
Spill, and BP Oil Spill. How It Happened There are four main reasons as to why this oil spill
happened, but they were all mechanical flaws. One reason was that the borehole (a hole at the
bottom of the boat used to locate oil and gas) was not completely covered with cement which
allowed the oil to leak out of the boat. Another reason was that the boat contained two main... Show

They were the ones who dropped the oil into the ocean when they were out on the ocean. Even
though other companies were working on the rig, BP was in charge of the boat that caused the
spill. How Do We Prevent Oil Spills Oil spills do not just happen because of boats and system
failure. They also happen because of us doing everyday things like heating our house. Most
people use oil or gas to heat their house since it is a heat substance, it could leak and cause a spill
on land. How do we prevent it though? Companies have to be very careful with their parts. They
have to check that everything is in place and working correctly. One mistake could cause an oil
spill. They also have to make sure that their tanks are cleaned out. The tanks have to be cleaned
once in a while because if they aren t, then the tank might burst letting the oil spill out. The worst
thing about oil spills is that small mistakes lead to big consequences. For example, the BP Oil
Spill, small failures in the system like the alarm let the oil all spill out before the company
realized it was leaking. Just because of that, one of the biggest oil spills in the world

Viva La Vida Coldplay Analysis
Throughout history, there have been countless accounts of empires and kingdoms that have
fallen due to power and corruption. Kings and rulers, who were once able to break all laws
without any consequences, became shadows of their former selves and were forced to be
remembered as failures. The song Viva la Vida by Coldplay shows first hand account of a king,
Louis XVI, the last monarch of France, who had fallen prey to the destruction that power can
bring. Listeners get a memoir of this king who went from being a the pillar of society to a man
whose legacy was tarnished by corruption. Absolute power is able to corrupt even the noblest of
hearts and, through the use of metaphor, Coldplay has shown the regression of a king who s
was thought to have everything a man wants. The narrator is a wealthy king who is used to
ruling over others. In the first line of the song Being apart of the monarch, he was born into a
life of luxury, never wanting for anything. In the line One minute I held the key we see that he
once was able to walk with his head held high, holding all the power to do with as he wished. He
was the king and, besides God, there was no one above him. By the line Next the walls were closed

Gun Control And The Second Amendment
Samuel Wurzelbacher, AKA Joe the Plumber, watched Richard Martinez mourn over the death of
his only son who was shot in the Isla Vista rampage. He responded to Richard Martinez with an

son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through right
now. But: as harsh as this sounds your dead kids don t trump my Constitutional rights. This is the
type of thing that people find so terrible about the Second Amendment; because pro gunzealots use
the Second Amendment to protect their immoral actions, but this is their twisted and corrupted
interpretation on the meaning and intent of the Amendment because this is in no way the original
premise of the Second Amendment. The right to bear arms laid out in the Second Amendment is
just because guns are weapons for self defense. Precautions are taken on gun control, such as
keeping a permanent record of all gun sales, requiring a license and certain mental certifications,
and only allowing certain guns to be distributed to the public. Although some may argue that they
can also be used to kill the innocent, the removal of guns from the possession of certified citizens
will not stop crime, murder, or the death of innocents because guns are not the only weapons
capable of these deaths.

The Invention Of China s Inventions
On a daily basis, people come across hundreds of inventions that are made around the world. Each
one of these inventions have profoundly affected the way people live their lives. China is one of
the leading providers to the United States. They have also made various inventions that people
benefit from today.
One of China s earliest inventions was paper. This invention was developed in 105AD and has
become a product people still use today. The ingredients that were used to make paper was a
variety of fibrous materials, birch leaves, and wood pulp. The process of making paper would
take up to thirty days to construct. The production of paper was a rigorous process that China held
secret for hundreds of years.
Despite the fact that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this time paper mills had been invented in other countries which caused the paper to go from a
complex recipe that was one held secret by the Chinese to a ubiquitous production with the use of
machinery.
People have come far in the innovation of paper. One component that has been altered are the
ingredients that go into the paper. Although some ingredients remain the same, paper factories use
more chemicals to manufacture paper rather than the traditional ingredients. With this technology
and different ingredients, making paper has now become much easier and faster when compared to
ancient times. It is now one of the most used item in our daily lives.
Another Chinese invention that has had a profound affect in people s lives is gunpowder. It was
first invented in 142 AD by Wei Boyang (quart) and has become a greatly used product around
the world. Like many of China s inventions, it was kept a secret. It was not until 1100s AD that
this secret was discovered. The first to hear about the discovery of the gunpowder was the Islamic
empire. It was then discovered by the Roman empire and soon made its way to Europe.
China first discovered gunpowder could be used as a weapon when they put gunpowder on one
end of a bamboo tube and a metal item on the other end. This caused the gunpowder to explode and
shoot the metal item from the other end. This was the start of the weapons we use today.
The first ingredients that gunpowder was made with was a mixture of sulfur,

How Has Country Music Changed
Country music once started out as bout that twang and trains and hillbilly thing as Trace Adkins
would say. But as we have evolved and technology has changes so has societies taste in country
music. Country music was founded in the rural part of society, but as time as gone on and people
have changed so has the music. Country now has evolved into a more pop sound rather than the
twang it started out as. Why has the music changed, and what caused this change? Let me take
you back in time where it all began. We will need to dig back into time to learn about country and
where it all started and how it has changed to what it is today.
Country music is defined as a style and genre of largely string accompanied American popular
music having roots in the folk music of the Southeast and cowboy music of the West, usually
vocalized, generally simple in form and harmony, and accompanied by romantic or melancholy
ballads accompanied by acoustic or electric guitar, banjo, violin, and harmonica (Dictionary.com).
Country music first started out in the back woods or the sticks. This type of music reflects the
expression of the working class people . Most country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lyrics of the songs are fitting with the times. Country songs in this decade are very
traditional but with a new twist. Some songs will sing about the good ole days, religion, loves,
lost loves, families and simpler times. Also lyrics to these new songs are very racy and
provocative as well. A good example of this is Justin Aldean Burning it Down some of the lyrics
You slip your finger through the tear of my t shirt, you stirrin up dirty in the back of my mind ,
laying right here naked in my bed . This new age country appeals to the younger crowd, rather then
the class of 89. Country of this generation is trying to appeal to more than one audience. This genre

Arthritis Supplements
If you have arthritis, then it is best for you to follow the treatment plan that your physician
recommends. However, you may also want to talk to your physician about adding supplements to
your regimen. There are a number of supplements that can help treat arthritis. Below is a list of
some of those supplements:
Fish Oil
Fish oil works by blocking prostaglandins and cytokines, which are two substances that promote
inflammation inside of the body. Fish oil also has anti inflammatory properties. Studies have shown
that arthritis patients who have taken this supplement have experienced less joint stiffness and

Fair Use Doctrine Essay
Lurking in the halls of the Dan Rather Building at Sam Houston State is what some would call

Established permanently through the Copyright Act of 1976 (p. 347), this doctrine allows for
exclusions to the exclusive right granted by Copyright Law. As mentioned earlier, exclusions to
copyright protection exist and are known as the Fair Use Doctrine. This doctrine was established
in section 107 of the 1976 copyright act as a response to some major cases heard previously.
Protected works that are used for the purpose of criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching,
scholarship, or research fall into the realm of fair use and do not require payment or
authorization from the creator. However, this only gives people a limited privilege, and not an
absolute right to use the work. Folsom v. Marsh (1841), introduced the factors that underline the
limited privileges of fair use. Although the appeals process found that fair use was not applicable
in the case because the defendants had used too much of the work and earned a profit from it. In
his opinion, Justice Joseph Story enumerated factors that could be used to determine if the use fell

The Ethical Dilemma Of Performance Enhancing Drugs
Benchmark Assignment: Ethical Dilemmas
These days it seems as society is constantly being faced with Ethical Dilemmas. Whether it is
normal everyday citizens, actors, business executives, and even athletes. The way that every
person deal with ethical dilemmas is by relying on their worldview. The world of professional
sports is a very tough and competitive place. It is full of top level athletes that are masters in
their respective sports and the struggle that they all face is to be better than everyone else. With
all these athletes working hard and looking for new ways to better themselves, some take the easy
way over the right way. In this paper, the ethical dilemma of performance enhancing drugs being
used in sports will be addressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Core Beliefs
Some athletes view doping, the use of performance enhancing drugs, as the only way to keep up
with athletic competition (Performance Enhancing Drugs, 2017). With it being such a big issue
many people are curious on how the Christian worldview deals with the topic. The Christian
worldview does not specifically address the ethical dilemma that surrounds performance enhancing
drugs. While I admit that it does not directly talk about PEDs, in Jesus time they had none, there
are certain core beliefs that can be applied to it. Firstly, we need to look at our bodies. People
aligned with the Christian worldview know that because of the fall our bodies were marred from
God s beginning perfect creation of us (The Ethics of Enhancement, 2017). The Bible states how
God views our body saying Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who
is in you whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God s (NKJV, 1 Corinthians. 6:19
20). If our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, then it would not be right to defile our bodies by
injecting it with drugs for performance. It is also trying to change and determine what and how our
bodies are rather than how God created us. There is also the issue of performance enhancing drugs
being fair and considered cheating. King Solomon writes that Better is

The Role of Federal Agencies in Fighting Digital Crime Essay
Explain the existing challenges that result from the independent nature of these agencies, as well as
the other factors that are common to each of them. In the United States, local, state, and federal law
enforcement agencies, including FBI, Department of Homeland Security, among others, have taken
on roles to fight computer crimes and terrorism. The roles and responses of these law enforcement
agencies concerning digital crime have created challenges that limit enforcement efforts against
digital crime. The Department Of Justice has had to address evolving challenges such as mortgage

In April 2011, GAO, Government Accountability Office, reported that backlogs in the forensic
analysis of digital evidence can delay or hinder online child pornography investigations. Among
factors that federal law enforcement officials cited as limiting investigations and prosecutions
were variations in the steps that agencies believe enhance the integrity of forensic analysis of
digital evidence. In some cases, these steps may increase the time it takes to analyze evidence and
add to backlogs and delays. (GAO High Risk Other Major Government Challenges Balancing
Fighting Crime Versus Terrorism) State and local law enforcement agencies face several
challenges including the lack of resources, expertise, training, and funding to solve cyber crime. Of
these problems, are the growing concerns of the local and state officials about the threats made
relating to the protection of computer infrastructures at the federal level. Local officers are not
having the capacity or understanding of computer crimes necessary to properly investigate offenses
such as computer and electric crimes and fraud and theft crimes by digital technology. (Taylor,
2011) Having education and appropriate training is crucial in the investigation process to gain an
upper hand in fighting digital crime. In addition, state and local law enforcement expressed
concerns about resource constraints and apprehension regarding expertise and jurisdictional

Electoral Reform Of Canada Through A Mixed Electoral...
The need for Electoral Reform in Canada Through a Mixed Electoral System
Altering the electoral system would undoubtedly benefit Canada in numerous ways through the use
of a mixed electoral system using proportional representation and alternative voting. Over the
course of Canada s history, debate over electoral reform has appeared occasionally, with varying
levels of intensity (Courtney 2005:154). Regardless, the amount of times that the topic has been
discussed, demonstrates the need for its consideration. The word change often promotes a negative
connotation, suggesting decreases in quality of government. However, it is important for one to
focus on not changing the system, but rather improving it. This can be done through different voting
methods such as proportional representation or alternative voting. Of course, there are
disadvantages that could arise from electoral reform, especially in the case of either suggested
systems. However, the vast advantages ultimately outweigh all potential consequences, justifying
this action. Conclusively, it is advantageous to undergo electoral reform through a mixed election
system of proportional representation and alternative voting, despite arguments opposed to both
matters.
To begin, electoral reform is necessary for one major reason. This reason being that the current
system Canada operates under is simply not effective. Presently, Canada uses the single member
plurality system, but this form of voting displays several

The term and the assessment or evaluation criteria being used varies between governing body,
institutions and countries. There is the popularity of the need to recognise informal learning so as
to make learning accessible to everyone. To justify the need for RPL, I have discussed some of its
benefits below.
Benefits of Recognition of Prior Learning
The Learner: * It validates the worth of learning achieved by themselves * Increases self esteem
and confidence * Encourages learners to pursue education * May reduce the cost of college
education by eliminating duplication of learning * Enables progression to other programme of
study * Increases learner s perception and understanding that learning is a lifelong process
The Educational Institution: * Provides a vital service for the community, business and industry *
Financial gain through increase in student recruitment and retention * Increases in efficiency by
reducing the need for unnecessary training * Enables for more appropriate learner placement in
programmes
The Workplace and the Community: * It encourages workplace partnership with the educational
institution * It helps in recognising lifelong learning and society s need for a productive and
capable workforce.

Volkswagen Of Americ Managing It Priorities

Volkswagen of AmericaВManaging IT Priorities
1. What is your assessment of the new process for managing priorities at Volkswagen of America?
Are the criticisms justified? Is it an improvement over the old process?
We believe that the new process for managing priorities was well structured and aligned with the
business goals but with few exceptions. Let s try to understand why?
VWoA laid out their five next round of growth goals (NRG) and built a business architecture with
the help of different organizational entities to manage priorities of different projects in order to
implement these goals. The ELT was given the primary responsibility along with ITSC, PMO,
BPTO and DBC playing important roles while selecting and prioritizing projects. The Digital
Business Council was to play the most challenging role here as it would work with different
Business Unit managers in order to select and prioritize projects, keeping in mind a way to
categorize projects, assess their business impact, aligning project with business goals and making
tradeoff decisions. The process played out in three phases initiated by PMO. Thus, this process is
well structured and would help DBC to consider different trade offs while selecting and prioritizing
projects.
The only exception is that we would recommend to include members of VWG while drafting the
goal portfolios of the company so that certain projects that impacted on the global level could also
be funded. If they had included them, then

Dao De Jing And Daoist Philosophy
Imitating a particular action, thing, or other person first entails perception and observing. Imitation
of nature to live in harmony is the basis of Daoist philosophy, which begins with observation.
Having ideals and a path stems from understanding how to perceive and achieve the ideal through
the path. The process of realization begins with chapters from the Dao De Jing, practicing Aikido
with intent, and the connection with our environment. A major part that I observed in the Dao De
Jing is the realization that Dao is significant to a harmonious life. Focusing on Dao and the
passages of the Dao De Jing tie together what Daoist philosophers believe. All these things
combined, brings about the principles of Daoist philosophy.
Before parallels can be drawn between ideals and paths in Daoism, Daoist philosophy and Dao
must be defined. It is hard to put Daoist Philosophy into a nice, neat sentence because of the
complexity and vast amount of information on the subject. For the intent of this paper, Daoist
philosophy is defined as a Chinese philosophy that takes a more naturalist approach to religion and
way of living. It is the connection between imitating nature and harmony. Dao is defined in Chapter
1 as the constant moving everything that surrounds us. It is not tangible, it is just what it is, and
you do not know exactly what this something is.
Living in Harmony with everything surrounding oneself requires a realization of what is around
and how to properly interact with one s surroundings. One must join an ideal and a path to
achieving that ideal. Without a path, can the desired goal have the outcome that is intended? A
reading from the Dao De Jing suggest no, that the path and ideal are connected and one. But first,
one must learn how to perceive nature. Perceiving nature is necessary to be able to imitate it
correctly. Observation of what surrounds us and how we interact with our environment. Chapter 36
of the Dao De Jing talks about the idea of perceiving and understanding one s insight. Whatever is
gathered in must first be stretched out; whatever is weakened must first be made strong; whatever
is abandoned must first be joined; whatever is taken away must first be given. This translates to if

American leader who died the same year and who promoted that African Americans separate from

such ideals. Despite the challenge that Black Power proposed to the nonviolent movement, civil

The variation in the number of sales also interferes with the planning process within the company.
Future projections are made based on the prospected sales hence profits by the company. Due to
the fact that the sales of sportswear varies, the company cannot easily project its future growth as

In addition to this, the political and financial instability that is making headwinds in key worldwide

what psychologists call the magical thinking stage; which means they usually are very optimistic
and wishful that their parents will get back together. The children of ages 6 12 feel responsible for
the separation of their parents but can also feel it s their duty to reconcile their parents back
together; they cannot fathom the idea of their parents who belong to them in a sense not living
together. When parents divorce their teen s attitudes about sexual behavior changes, teens chances
of premarital sex and thoughts about divorce rises while thoughts about marriage is reduced.
American and British studies displayed that teen daughters of divorced parents will be highly
likely to endorse premarital sex and have early sexual intercourse outside of marriage. In recent

Ideology behind the Film Spirited Away
Ideology is attitudes, beliefs, perceptions that commonly shared by the people in society. It is
mostly unconscious and it appears in everyday human s daily lives. Cinema is one of the
medium that people can be exposed. Therefore the ideology in film takes a powerful role that
shapes aspects of people s beliefs. When it comes to a film, people who watch the film receive a
message from it whether that message is explicit or not. Ideology can be most receptive and
powerful when it is exposed to the audience when they are enjoying the film and are unaware of
it (Edgar Hunt, Marland and Rawle 96). In Spirited Away, the movie sends out many aspects of
ideology in Japanese society. This essay is going to be focusing on two particular aspects which are
Shintobeliefs and human versus nature.
In Asian culture, people usually give priority to the religion. Shinto was the state religion of Japan
in the past. Shinto means Kami Way in Japanese. Kami is term to describe sacred spirits, or
something that possesses superior power (Earheart 6). Japanese people believe that there are
spirits in everything. All beings can be called Kami such as river, woods, or even human beings
(Ono and Woodard 6). Japan has been called a land of Kami. They regard Kami as an object of
worship in Shinto religion. Throughout the film, it can be seen that many elements of Shinto aspect
is subtly embed. Just the name of this movie Spirited Away tells a lot about the beliefs of Japanese
toward the supernatural

  • 2. Fourth Amendment Rights Essay Fourth Amendment Paper Assignment Today, I am presented with a case that puts in question the violation of individual s Fourth Amendment rights. This case also puts in question the rights of the authority placed in our streets, neighborhoods and towns to perform actions directed towards certain citizens in an effort to serve and protect the overall population. There must be a careful analysis in order to interpret the records of the incident that occurred to conclude who holds the most justified position in this case under the applicable laws. The Court of Appeals of the State of New York must also take into careful consideration the circumstances discussed and the ruling given by the District Court assigned to this case, which I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defendant Miller evidently avoided walking by the officers. There are precise rules that involve the stopping of an individual by the authority. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures , shall not be violated... . Specific distinctions within the Amendment are made in the prior case of Terry v. Ohio(392 U.S. 1 [1968]). These distinctions discuss the rules and regulations adherent to stops of individuals by the authority. According to Justice Warren, delivering the opinion of the court in this case, the police should be allowed to stop a person and detaining him briefly for questioning upon suspicion that the individual may be connected with criminal activity . This statement basically explains that unusual conduct of an individual observed by the authorities can give reasonable suspicion that criminal activity may be afoot. This reasonable suspicion is grounds for a stop and brief questioning by the authorities. So, accordingly following these sets of rules, I must analyze how the law applies to reach a decision in favor, or in opposition to the stop of an individual. Defendant Miller clearly showed unusual conduct while walking in the street. He walked in one direction, looked toward the direction of the cops, and more profoundly made eye contact with one ... • 3. Relativity Of Truth In Life Of Pi Life of Pi: The Relativity of Truth The relativity of truth refers to truth relativism, which is the doctrine that there are no absolute truths. The truth is always relative to some particular frame of reference. An example of truth relativism is the The Dress trend which went viral because viewers disagreed over whether the colors of the dress were black and blue or gold and white. Because of how a human perceives the color, it could be either of these colors based on how a person sees it. The relativity of truth in the Life of Pi includes and refers to the Blind Frenchman , the algae island, and which story Pi told the interviewers was true. To begin, when Pi went blind in chapter 90 and practically gave up on surviving, he heard a voice. It s astonishing what you hear when you re alone in the blackness of your dying mind. (Martel, Pg 242). To people, this could refer to Pi hearing an actual person or it could just be a figment of his imagination. Misery loves company, and madness calls it forth. (Martel, Pg 242). This adds to the theory that the voice Pi heard was just a figment of his imagination. Further on in the novel, Pi meets and speaks to the Blind Frenchman after figuring out that it wasn t Richard Parker he was talking to. Later on, Richard Parker killed the Frenchman and Pi explored his boat, finding out that the Frenchman had lied to him about having food. What doesn t add up is that Pi regained his eyesight two days after the Frenchman s murder and when he went to check out the dead man s boat, he was still blind. This could mean that Pi didn t actually go on the Frenchman s boat but was actually exploring his boat and that the man was a figment of his imagination to suppress the loneliness Pi was feeling. Furthermore, in chapter 92, Pi discovers an algae island with food to eat and land to settle on. Pi stated ...that the island was not an island in the conventional sense of the term that is, a small landmass rooted to the floor of the ocean but was rather a free floating organism... (Martel, Pg 271 272). One could assume that this wasn t an actual island, but something that Pi made up to add depth to the story he was telling or this was an island that has never been ... • 4. Examples Of Romantic Narrative In Mass Media Romantic Narratives in Mass Media: The Construction of Ideals As Television sales increased in the 1940s, more homes in the United States included TVs as a common accessory in the family room. Since then, televisions have become another tool for socialization individuals use to try and make sense of the world around them (Riesman, Denny, Glaser, 1950). Furthermore, the combination of romance and mass media produced narratives continues to be a prominent form of entertainment where TV writers and producers construct a picture of what love should look like. The way romantic relationships develop and the expectations individuals have for courtships vary by culture; therefore, this proposed study will focus solely on images of idealized romance through a Western lens. In general, romantic relationships in Western societies are guided by personal choice, passion, and the notion of love at first sight. As you watch television or popular movies in the United States, you can see examples of this type of love embedded into our media. For instance, the CBS show How I Met Your Mother based each episode on the main character, Ted Mosby s quest for love. As the show moves through its eight seasons, the viewer sees Ted go from one unhappy relationship to another until he meets his ideal partner and eventually finds true love. Many shows like this center around the main character s journey for his or her soul mate. The media has created certain expectations of an idealized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nt1310 Unit 2 Assignment Of Cognitive Psychology If the logical mind, isn t enough to create motivation within us! Should we then let emotions decide what we should be doing? Should we use emotions to prioritize? This might look really emotional, but let s just look at it by this; You start considering things, prioritizing them in a logical manner; your logical brain assigns a separate part to specific priority, but you still somewhere in between let your emotions empower you anyway, and sometimes it s even unintentionally done. If you look at priorities in logical context, some part of you still won t cooperate and stick to what heart says, ask yourself when is the last time you prioritize things in a logical manner and end up sticking to them? And emotions will reassert themselves each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are to feel these emotions, you are there. If you are not feeling these emotions, you re not there. She created a unique art form by crafting multi media spectacles out of fabric, motion and light. In Fuller s autobiography, she talks about how the glass of the rose windows in the great cathedral had rays of sunlight that came on into the church in different directions, and made it very colorful. I think this is a moment that inspired her. It was something that caught her attention, and she just couldn t simply take her mind from it. This was something that encouraged her to keep digging into the things lights and colors can do in dance. In one of her videos, it shows her twirling her dress in many different ways while her dress is also changing colors. This was very unexpected for me. It was different and it made me think about the things she had to do to make this idea into a creation. I was also able to see how the lights reflecting in the church inspired her because the color of her dress kept changing as she twirled so smoothly. It was very settle and something you wouldn t usually notice right away like the lights in the church. In the reading, she states, What is the dance? It is motion. What is motion? The expression of a sensation. What is a sensation? The reaction in the human body produced by an impression or an idea perceived by the mind. • 31. Volkswagen Of Americ Managing It Priorities Team 11 Volkswagen of AmericaВManaging IT Priorities 1. What is your assessment of the new process for managing priorities at Volkswagen of America? Are the criticisms justified? Is it an improvement over the old process? We believe that the new process for managing priorities was well structured and aligned with the business goals but with few exceptions. Let s try to understand why? VWoA laid out their five next round of growth goals (NRG) and built a business architecture with the help of different organizational entities to manage priorities of different projects in order to implement these goals. The ELT was given the primary responsibility along with ITSC, PMO, BPTO and DBC playing important roles while selecting and prioritizing projects. The Digital Business Council was to play the most challenging role here as it would work with different Business Unit managers in order to select and prioritize projects, keeping in mind a way to categorize projects, assess their business impact, aligning project with business goals and making tradeoff decisions. The process played out in three phases initiated by PMO. Thus, this process is well structured and would help DBC to consider different trade offs while selecting and prioritizing projects. The only exception is that we would recommend to include members of VWG while drafting the goal portfolios of the company so that certain projects that impacted on the global level could also be funded. • 34. Dao De Jing And Daoist Philosophy Imitating a particular action, thing, or other person first entails perception and observing. Imitation of nature to live in harmony is the basis of Daoist philosophy, which begins with observation. Having ideals and a path stems from understanding how to perceive and achieve the ideal through the path. The process of realization begins with chapters from the Dao De Jing, practicing Aikido with intent, and the connection with our environment. A major part that I observed in the Dao De Jing is the realization that Dao is significant to a harmonious life. Focusing on Dao and the passages of the Dao De Jing tie together what Daoist philosophers believe. All these things combined, brings about the principles of Daoist philosophy. Before parallels can be drawn between ideals and paths in Daoism, Daoist philosophy and Dao must be defined. It is hard to put Daoist Philosophy into a nice, neat sentence because of the complexity and vast amount of information on the subject. For the intent of this paper, Daoist philosophy is defined as a Chinese philosophy that takes a more naturalist approach to religion and way of living. It is the connection between imitating nature and harmony. Dao is defined in Chapter 1 as the constant moving everything that surrounds us. It is not tangible, it is just what it is, and you do not know exactly what this something is. Living in Harmony with everything surrounding oneself requires a realization of what is around and how to properly interact with one s surroundings. One must join an ideal and a path to achieving that ideal. Without a path, can the desired goal have the outcome that is intended? A reading from the Dao De Jing suggest no, that the path and ideal are connected and one. But first, one must learn how to perceive nature. Perceiving nature is necessary to be able to imitate it correctly. Observation of what surrounds us and how we interact with our environment. Chapter 36 of the Dao De Jing talks about the idea of perceiving and understanding one s insight. Whatever is gathered in must first be stretched out; whatever is weakened must first be made strong; whatever is abandoned must first be joined; whatever is taken away must first be given. Future projections are made based on the prospected sales hence profits by the company. Due to the fact that the sales of sportswear varies, the company cannot easily project its future growth as well as predict the profits it will make in future (Plunkett, 2009). In addition to this, the political and financial instability that is making headwinds in key worldwide markets is also a contributing factor to the inability of the company to come up with precise projections. The other factor is the continuous change in the exchange rates for the foreign currencies. This changes with time and is quite irregular. This implies that no single firm can come up with its financial plan based on accurate exchange rates. It is mostly unconscious and it appears in everyday human s daily lives. Cinema is one of the medium that people can be exposed. Therefore the ideology in film takes a powerful role that shapes aspects of people s beliefs. When it comes to a film, people who watch the film receive a message from it whether that message is explicit or not. Ideology can be most receptive and powerful when it is exposed to the audience when they are enjoying the film and are unaware of it (Edgar Hunt, Marland and Rawle 96). In Spirited Away, the movie sends out many aspects of ideology in Japanese society. This essay is going to be focusing on two particular aspects which are Shintobeliefs and human versus nature. In Asian culture, people usually give priority to the religion. Shinto was the state religion of Japan in the past. Shinto means Kami Way in Japanese.
