2. Comparing Napoleon s Approaches To The Unification Of...
Napoleon s authoritarian rule in the 1850s provided a new model in politics to the
old ruling class in Europe. To what degree might the growing urban middle classes
and emerging working class rally for a strong and crucial conservative national state
was one of the great political question and the answer to that question came with the
national unification of Italyand Germany.
Primarily there were three approaches to the unification of Italy. First, Mazzini
centralized the democratic republic based on the universal right and the will of the
people. Second, Gioberti s a catholic priest headed the federation of existing states,
and third, Italian nations were built around the aristocratic kingdom of Sardinia

3. Benefits Of Asthma
It s scary to think that working out could bring on an asthma attack, but the asthma
patients should exercise in asthma. Asthma makes it hard to breathe, so it s not
surprising that many people think it s wise to skip physical activities that lead to
being out of breath in order to avoid the constricting airflow of an asthmaattack. But
that also means missing out on the major benefits of exercise, including getting better
control of asthma.
In addition to helping improve your asthma control, the short and long term benefits
of exercise include boosting your mood, improving your balance, strengthening your
bones, and lowering your risk of cardiovascular disease.
That doesn t mean you should launch into an intense workout routine, especially
4. Spanish Expansion To The New World
Expansion to the new world was both a blessing and a curse to both Europeans and
the natives of the new land. The first motive for exploring the new world to find a
easier and faster way to trade with the Asian countries, but soon after two new
continents were discovered it sprouted different motives from everyone. Even
though everyone had their own ideas and dreams about the new world they were
all ended up with a common goal, to find silver and gold and become very wealthy.

the Europeans weren t expecting to find was thousands of different civilizations

Spain received what was called the lions share. One of the reasons Spain was able
to colonize and explore South America so quickly was because they had the
biggest navy, also called and armada. The Spanish Armada was originally made to
defeat the English in a naval battle but they lost the battle and could never
recuperate from their losses. Because Spain was the first to start colonizing and
defeating the indigenous people they benefited the most from the new world and its
riches. Conquistadores were explorers who were sent by Spain to take or the new
land. Conquistadores would explore the land, share Christianity with the native
people, and bring back riches to the homeland. Conquistadores forever left their
mark in South America because not many of their wives accompanied them on their
trip so they married Indian women and created what is called a mestizo. The
conquistadores would even convert their Indian consorts so they could marry them.

5. Sustainable Fashion Essay
One of the most heavily discussed topics, in this last decade, is the environmental
decay of our planet. Diverse concepts have materialized in order to find solutions for
the problem. Ecology and sustainable growth have been confirmed to be the main
solutions currently. Innovations for sustainable growth include: creation of hybrid
cars, recyclingand minor discharge of carbon dioxide in factories among others
(Christ 23). Environmental awareness was also introduced to the world of fashion,
unfortunately, it wasn t very successful; lately there has been a change of situation
and that is what we are going to attempt to understand. For almost twenty years now,
people have been relying on fast fashion, a fairly new notion, which... Show more

The fact that it is possible to treat the clothes for them to simply not be able to

wash the clothes as much but then those same clothes cannot be recycled and that is
not eco friendly Is it better to keep clothes as they are and waste more energy or to
treat them but not recycle them after use? It is a dilemma.
Finding an exact definition for the terms sustainable fashion . Green , Eco fashion
to a name a few, is close to impossible. We all have the impression everyone
understands it the same way but it is false, it has different meanings for all of us.
The word sustainability itself implies some sort of length, in the sense that
something can last long, it also. Here are some of the definitions people have of
sustainable fashion: Quality items that stand the test of time it is this concept of
sustainability, symbolized by a timeless handbag that you wear again and again, and

Accessories are a very important part of fashion and should be considered so a good
example for this definition of sustainable would be the Hermes Birkin bag.

6. Civil Rights Discrimination
Civil rights have been a hot button issue/topic in this country for decades. For many
years people were treated differently because of either their skin color. These
people had fewer job opportunities, were often paid less than their white
counterparts, and even for a time were sent to separate and often worse schools,
and were forced to use different bathrooms and drinking from separate water
fountains in public. It was very difficult for blacks at this time in this country, but
help would soon bring relief to these people. The passage of the Civil Rights Act of
1964, brought some forms of equality to this country, and the Supreme CourtCase of
Brown v. Board of Education, ended segregation and allowed blacks and whites to
attend the same schools. While there have been great strides towards equality in
this country, some still feel that not enough is being done and that blacks still feel
marginalized by society and aren t given the same opportunities as their white
counterparts. Many are still to this day, even with laws in place to protect them,
they are still often overlooked for job opportunities and promotions within the work
environment. One such area where this happened was in the city of New Haven and
their team of firefighters. In this instance, a few members of the team, which
happened to be black, were not given a fair chance of getting a promotion to the
ranks of captain or lieutenant. What followed was a mess that the city and officials
could have easily
7. The Significance Of The Puritans
The Puritans were a religious doctrine of English reformers that believed in purifying
the Church of England from Catholicism. People who practiced Puritanism in the
western and eastern of England basically worked as wool traders. As a result, of the
economic depresssion that affected their employment stability they were wishful to
leave England. However, their principal cause to fled England was the sufferings they
had due of religious persecution.
The Puritan s theology was related and based on Calvinism. It was founded by
extremely moral rules and traditionalist principles. Their lifestyles influenced the
society and the government entirely. Only church members known as freemen were
eligible as cadidates in the government. Nonbelievers

9. Alcohol Use Disorder Essay
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) has a major national health impact in the United
States, affecting over 17 million people, causing more than 100,000 deaths and
costing over $200 billion annually (Bouchery et al., 2011; Grant et al., 2004;
Hardwood, 2000). Alcohol use and abuse is currently the third leading risk factor
for premature death and composed of nearly 4% of all deaths worldwide (World
Health Organizations). Despite a large amount of effort focusing on the development
of new medications for AUD, currently there are only 3 FDA approved treatments
on the market, all of which have only yielded limited success even when combined
with psychosocial support (Harris et al., 2010; Litten e al., 2012). This is evident by
the high rates of uncontrolled heavy drinking that continue to persist and the high
relapse rate in patients even after long term inpatient treatment and support
(Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). As such, novel
approaches that allow for rapid development of new and effective medication to
treat and/or prevent AUD is an important public health goal (Bouchery et al., 2011;
Heilig and Egli, 2006; Johnson, 2010; Johnson et al., 2007; Steensland et al., 2007).

The currency of India is the rupee. Rupee is derived from the Sanskrit rupyakam
which means coin of silver ( Indian Rupee ). The rupee has transitioned through
several governing bodies over its recorded history. Each transitional phase can be
traced by the examples of the rupee notes as follows: early private and semi
governmental banks, Government of India, King George V, King George VI, Indo
French Territories, Indo Portuguese Territories, Prisoner of War Coupons, Princely
States, cash coupons of Princely States, and post Independent India (Indian Currency

these notes were: Rs. 10, Rs. 20, Rs. 50, Rs. 100, Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 (Indian

In the early 1900 s as paper currency grew in popularity, the notes were universalized

restrictions were eased gradually, with the smaller denominations being universalized

specifically the Rs. 1 and Rs. 2.5. During the 1920 s, notes featuring King George V
s portrait were issued in Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 denominations (Indian Currency
11. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Essay
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Many studies have established that a developing organism is susceptible to
exogenous and endogenous factors during certain stage of the organism s
development. The effects of ethyl alcohol or ethanol on the developing fetus, which
manifest a variety of characteristic abnormalities, are collectively called Fetal alcohol
Syndrome. Ethanol exposure to the fetus causes various malformation ranging from
the cellular to the organismic levels with the eventual results frequently being
different levels of mental retardation (3).
Chick embryo studies provide a relatively good model for defining the effects of
ethanol at many organizational levels of neurogenesis, cell death, neuronal migration
and differentiation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consequences of ethanol are dependent on the time of administration and
duration of treatment (3).
Animal models have displayed conclusively that alcohol can alter normal
development of the central nervous system. Alcohol exposure during development
has been shown to modify brain growth, neuronal number, myelination,
neurotransmitter levels and receptor binding, synaptogenesis, and many other aspects
of neuronal metabolism and morphology. There are indications of alcohol s
immediate or short term teratogenic effects, typically recounting deficits or delays in
brain growth parameters, measured in the animals that were still in early stages of
development (2).
Most infants identified with FAS are microcephalic, hyperactive, and mentally
retarded by age four to ten. This persistence of brain dysfunction is what causes the
highest human and economic toll (2).
Several studies have exhibited reductions in neuronal number in developing animals
following alcohol exposure. However, neuronal death is a consequence of normal
development. Some neuronal populations maintain a fifty percent reduction in the
number before stabilizing in an adult configuration. The possibility exists that
developmental alcohol exposure may in at least some circumstances, be accelerating
the deaths of only those neurons that

I just got back from sunny Mexico, so, in appreciation, this week I would like to

Spanish Revival architecture was most popular between 1915 and 1931. The Spanish
craze swept the country and you can find examples of these residences in every state.
A 1928 advertisement from the California Stucco Company characterized this
building trend: Over the whole country Spanish architecture has cast its spell.
The kit house companies joined the fray and added a few models with Spanish
flavor. Spanish Revival homes typically had very expensive design elements such as
terra cotta, tile roofs, towers, and quatrefoil windows. Obviously, the kit house

Bryan Williams is a veteran musician/songwriter best known as one of the most
prolific and widely sought after session keyboardists in Philadelphia, performing an
estimated 100? world tours in a 30 year career.
As a writer, Williams is credited for songs such as: Rose Royce s Lonely Road (ft
Grover Washington Jr.), and Teddy Pendergrass Spend the Night. From his days as
a session musician with Jean Carne, Rose Royce, Grover Washington, Teddy
Pendergrass, Regina Belle, and Phyllis Hyman, Bryan is considered one of the
pioneers of what is called the Philly Sound .
Williams was born and raised in Philadelphia PA, in the North Philly section of the
city. It was there where he realized his love for music, and his gift for playing the
keyboard. He credits much of his early influence to the late Bill Doggett, a
Philadelphia born jazz and rhythm and blues pianist and organist who was best
known for his compositions Honky Tonk and Hippy Dippy ; and playing with the
Ink Spots, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Jordan. Doggett, whose mother lived two
doors down from the Williams family, would drop by and visit Bryan while in the
City. Williams said, Every time he was in town, he would stop by and show he some

One major change that could be made would be to replace paper towels in the
bathroom with hand dryers. According to Restroom Direct, a hand dryer cost
$159.00, so if the administration put hand dryers in eight of the Riverwood
bathrooms, it would cost $1,272. On average, a hand dryer costs between .02 and
.18 cents in electricity whereas a paper towel costs 1.00 cent on average per sheet,
so using hand dryers would vastly reduce the amount of electricity used as well the
amount of paper wasted. Another way the Riverwood administration could help
the environment would be to start a composting program. This program could gain
volunteers through a compost club and through partnerships with other clubs and
societies like Beta Club and the National Honor Society so that students could
receive service hours for helping with the compost program or donating needed
materials. According to the Green Mountain Farm to School initiative, the
necessary materials for starting a school compost program are at least five 5
gallon buckets, a scale, work gloves, 1 cart for housing buckets, a shovel, a supply
of hay or manure, cloth rags, a compost thermometer, and sifting screen. The school
could get many of these materials from donations but if they were to buy them, the
price would be approximately $175.19. According to Amazon, five 5 gallon buckets
would cost $52.35, a scale would be $15.95, a pair of work gloves would be $12.44, a
cart would be $37.02, a shovel would be $14.94, a small bale of hay would be
approximately $4.38 (according to the University of Wisconsin), a five pound bag of
manure would cost $11.12, cloth rags could be donated by parents, a compost
thermometer would cost $26.99, and a sifting screen would cost

The parallel that exists between the snake and Sykes that emphasizes the opposing
moral principles of Sykes and Delia is demonstrated in their respective invocations
of God. Provoked at Delia s washing white peoples clothes, Sykes lashes out against
her, displaying a contemptuous disregard for her labor. Instead of invoking his faith
to resist enmity, Sykes exploits it to condemn Delia: Yeah, you just come from de
church house on a Sunday night, but heah you is gone to work on them clothes (2).
He labels her a hypocrite, an amen corner Christian who worships at church, only to
come home and work on the Sabbath (2). He declares he had promised Godhe would
not have her washing white peoples clothing in his house, threatening her with
physical abuse should she defy him (2). Thus, he manipulates religionto justify his
acrimony and to validate the venom that he spews. In contrast, Delia uses her faith
to deny Sykes provocations: Ah aint for no fuss t night Sykes. Ah just come from
taking sacrament at the church house (1). It is Sunday, a holy day for Delia in
which she furnishes her soul with relief, and she will not let Sykes taint it with his
malice. The moral superiority of Delia is represented in her soaking laundry
deliberately on Sunday evenings. Delia preps for the week ahead of her by soaking
the white things in a tub (1). White is symbolic of purity in the Bible, and Hurston
references it here to reflect Delia s character. As a wash woman, her job is to

How is a play from the 16th century still popular? Much Ado About Nothing was
written in 1598 1599 and it is actively read by people from all over the world today.
Most of Shakespeare s plays, including Much Ado About Nothing are found in
libraries and bookstores. This play focuses on two romantic couples that are bounded
and unbounded by deception and eavesdropping. Much Ado About Nothingis a
wonderful read and is considered one of Shakespeare s best works.
First of all, Much Ado About Nothing is a comedic play. The romantic relationships
in this play are funny and ironic. An example was shown by Benedick saying that he
will die a bachelor, and later being in love with Beatrice. The plot itself is also
funny. Don Pedro, Claudio, Leonato, and Hero take advantage of Benedick s and

In this play, Shakespeare conveys important themes, including deception, honor,
and social grace in a comedic manner. An example is when Dogberry accentuates
how a character s social grace is not a representation of their class. He demonstrates
this by trying to sound smart, but in reality, he was making a fool of himself.
Furthermore, the play also has a more pleasant plot and theme, and is more easy
going contrary to Shakespeare s tragedies. In addition, Much Ado About Nothing
gives the reader an improved understanding of Shakespeare s society in the
Elizabethan age. The play emphasizes how important reputation and honor is at that
time. Different relationships, for example, father daughter relations are also
mentioned. If the prince do solicit you in that kind, you know your answer. (II.i.65).
This line mentions how parents expect their daughter to marry a wealthy man,
because women couldn t work. To sum up, these are all examples of Shakespeare
and his creative usage of themes and motifs. This makes Much Ado About Nothing a
great play for first time Shakespeare

The...
The Union forces were able to make great gains in the western campaign by taking
and controlling the major water ways, allowing the ability to swiftly maneuver
their forces and supplies around the battle field; in turn extensible cutting off the
Confederacy. This was accomplished through three key facts: a far superior ship
building capability then the Confederates, understanding the importance of
controlling the major river networks, and the effective employment of combined
operations to achieve success. These three items allowed the Union to quickly
gain a foothold and then spread control over the three major rivers in the area: the
Mississippi, Cumberland, and the Tennessee Rivers. At the onset of the war, both
sides struggled with combat capable ships. The Union though, was able to
establish a much stronger production capability than the Confederates, who lacked
materials and secure locations to build. The Union quickly set into production a
new class of fighting ships, which would be called the City Classers. These first of
its kind ships, designed by Samuel Pook, consisted of three gun ports off the bow,

rivers. These forts denied both Rogers and Grant from any true combat action south

support that ships could provide, limited large military action. It was clear to the
Union that the Confederate forts needed to be dealt with, but lacking the firepower
needed, they would have to wait until the City Classers entered

also by the raising of the salaries of the public servants, the cancellation of subsidy

March, 3 and 4 April 2011). In this response one can see one element that the
regime has deployed in its quest for survival that of the deployment of patronage to
which many would claim that the Syrian regime would bribe their own people so as
to remain in power. Though one can see this as a desperate attempt of a dying
regime, this may more of an oversimplification. What would be noted that this form
deployed here would be considered Patronage or Clientalism which more than just a
survival mechanism, it is the normal aspect of conferring legitimacy upon a regime
that rules in a corporate manner with little appetite for representative government. In
this system of governance, the state is more or less detached from the public at large

24. The Impact Of European Contact On Mн›®ori Society
Analyse the impact of European contact in MДЃori between 1642 and prior to the
sighing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840.
Between 1642 and prior to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, many European
traders and missionaries arrived, bringing changes for MДЃori. They impacted the
MДЃori society and introduced many new things to the MДЃori like pigs, muskets,
tobacco and alcohol. Missionaries also influenced MДЃori and introduced MДЃori to
Christianity and to the written language. Europeans changed the lifestyle of MДЃori,
civilised MДЃori and taught them farming skills and new types of agricultural
cultivation.

Tribes acquired hundreds of muskets and they used it for war. They wanted to focus
on producing goods to trade with Europeans in order to pay for the weapons.
However, musket ownership was most significant when a tribe with muskets fought
against a tribe without muskets.
The arrival of the Europeans caused many changes to the MДЃori society between
1642 and prior to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. The Europeans brought with
them many things to trade; however, they contributed to fatal impact in New Zealand
as they brought with them weapons which killed a lot of people and enslaved many
more as more and more MДЃori competed for weapons. By 1830 the MДЃori had
learnt a lot about the world. They had learnt the skills of trade with Europeans and
the MДЃori had missionaries that taught them how to read, write and communicate
with the outside world. New Zealand was no longer an unknown and isolated land
25. How To Read Confucius
I loved how the first paragraph ended in Analects (Lunya) of Confucius . This person
was exiled from his former land and established his own form of government. By
doing that, it showed me that he was a bold, smart, fair, and determined individual.
Moreover, I truly found that the foundation of his newly formed government was a
different approach from the other or typical types of government in that period. His
government did the most astounding thing. Not only did Confuciusor The Master
government acknowledge individuals in need and with less power, but it also
respected them as well. It basically treated the poorer and less fortunate individuals
as human beings instead of slaves or objects that are easily disposable. I really

I feel like he was a very blunt, yet smooth, and charismatic speaker. The way he
answered the questions to Lord Jing, Ji Kangzi, Zigong, and Zilu made me not only
believe that he knew what he was doing and talking about, but also confident in his
path/quest of life and truly supported and felt deeply about the things he was
preaching. In addition, something I did not enjoy about the text was the quoted
section writing style. It was hard for me to comprehend what was being fully said. I
could not understand at first whether he was being praised or condemned for his
thought on governments, and his way of viewing them on how they should be.
Additionally, the names of the kings make me wonder where they are located; for
example, they could possibly be from numerous locations in China, or may be
somewhere in Japan. On another note, Confucius s view of the government putting
people who need assistance in life is something people with political power should
do today. Now, I am not saying do everything for a person because they will not
learn to do for themselves. I suggest that there is a system that gives people who do
not have the chance for success like someone born into wealth a foundation where
they will not be starting with nothing. For example, a fight. It is not a fair battle
whatsoever if one person or a group has a gun or guns, and the other side just have
their hands, feet, and clothes on their backs. The lesser side nine point nine times out
of ten will without a doubt will lose

27. History Of Eugenics
Since the mid 1800s, standardized tests have played a part in America s education
system. In 1969, the Federal Department of Education began focusing on the
educational achievement of students. In 1994, the Clinton administration revised the
Elementary and Secondary Education Act, created during the War on Poverty, to
reduce achievement gaps in kindergarten through twelfth grade public education. The
Clinton administration made every state that received money from the federal
government for high poverty schools begin testing their students annually. In 2002,
President George W. Bush created another reauthorization of the Elementary and

29. The Premise Of Peter Singer s Possible Argument
The Premise of Peter Singer s basic argument for the issue of whether or not
individuals should help others is a very probable argument. Singer argues that all
individuals should be contributing to those who are in need, that way one
individual is not giving more or less than another. In addition, if a person or group
is able to prevent a bad thing from happening, then they might as well do so. There
is not a need for them to sit around watching bad things happen, but there is a need
to stand and rise to help others who are worse off than them. Singer provides the
idea that possibly, one of the best ways this can be done is through raises taxes for
all citizens. That way, everyone is forced to contribute at least a small amount to
those who are in need. One analogy that Singer lays out to help one... Show more

One of Narveson s basic arguments is that an individual should only aid others if
they are capable of doing so. Narveson would likely have a response to Singer in
regards to his comment about if one is able to stop a bad thing from happening,
then he or she should do so. His response might even hold agreement to a certain
extent. Narveson might say yes, this is true, but an individual should only help
prevent a bad thing from happening if they are able to. If taxes would be raised for
all people, the money given to those in need would not be given from the heart,
which may cause the recipient(s) do feel guilty about what it is that they have
received. Relating to the example of helping the drowning child in the pond,
Narveson would likely say that though it is important to help the child, if one does
not have the time or energy to do so, then there is no need fret or worry about. Only
if a person has the time and willingness to help the child should they help the child.

write here..write here..When I think about this semester as an urban fellow and what
I have learned. I think about asset mapping, the difference between faith based and
faith rooted organizations and making generalized disparaging assumptions about
particular groups of people. Most of all I think about the lingering question that has
had me bewildered since the first day of class. What is Urban? I thoughtthat I had a
monopoly on the characterization of urban. Especially, considering that I was born
and raised in an impoverished inner cityneighborhood all of my life. My
assumptions were that urban was a way of saying primarily black neighborhoods.
This essay seeks to highlight a few thoughts and what I have learned this semester in
the Urban Fellows class.
Nevertheless, I have now come to understand based on in class lectures and power
point slides that Urban is typically an inner city primarily filled with black and
Latino residents. Most often times these are impoverished neighborhoods. Urban can
also be seen as the first ring of suburban neighborhoods filled with those who have
been affected by gentrification . Large clusters of people living in poverty stricken
communities, with a lack of adequate resources or unused resources could very well
describe what urban means. But urban is not all lack of flourishing neighborhoods.
In urban neighborhoods there is more than just the poor or one particular class of
people as the majority. There are inadequate schools,
31. Conformity In The Chocolate War
The protagonist of any text is the central most character, and is the character
through which we understand and interpret the plot. In many ways the plot, or
theme of these two books is interlaced, all formed around a series of questions
posed by students in The Wave how could a small minority of people (Nazi s) rule
the majority (the German public)? The Chocolate War merely substitutes Nazi s for
The Vigils, and the German public for the boys at a Catholic School. The Wave is
the early phase to conformity and societal obedience, whereas in The Chocolate War,
the cycle of fear, pressure and obedience is thoroughly entrenched within the system

After firing a gun, residue composed of antimony, barium and lead, is left in the
barrel and the chamber. If the gun is not cleaned, residue builds up over time,
impacting the reliability of the gun. Steve Adelman, a writer for NRA Family,
suggests that contributing factors of how often a gun needs to be cleaned
depends on the number of times the gun is used, the type of bullets that are used,
and the type of gun (2). Ultimately, it is beneficial to clean a gun regularly after
shooting sessions, keeping degradation to a minimum. A basic gun cleaning kit
contains gun solvent, wire brushes, rods, slotted patch holders, patches, bore mops,
Q tips and lubricant. Cleaning solvents remove unwanted powder residue that
builds up during usage. A strong and recommended brand is Hoppe s 9. Adelman
advises that when using a solvent, to follow all instructions and use the correct
protection to keep skin and clothing from being damaged (4). Before cleaning a
gun, it is crucial to confirm that the gun is unloaded since it is outright dangerous
to clean a loaded gun. To begin cleaning the gun, string a wire brush through the
barrel to expose the gunk. This clears out the bigger pieces of residue, while
exposing the little dust sized particles of powder. Next, attach a slotted patch
holder to a rod and dip a patch in the solvent. The patch holder makes it easier to
keep the solvent covered patch in place and steady. Run the rod back and forth
through the barrel until the inside is slick with solvent. Note, the size of the patch
depends on the gun caliber (internal diameter of the barrel). The smallest patches
will fit in 22 caliber barrels, but will have no effect on 12 gauge shotgun. On the
other hand, 12 gauge patches work great on shotguns, but will not fit in a 22 caliber
barrel. After the
33. A Very Brief Look at the New Testament
The New Testament is an anthology of twenty seven ancient writings that describe
the life of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the Christian Church. This anthology
was not written by just one person, but rather, has several authors, most of whom are
known and some of whom are not distinctly known. All of these writings are
believed to have been written in the first and second centuries AD from roughly
50AD to 125AD(class notes). The New Testament was mainly written in Greek with
some small bits of Aramaic (class notes), but has since been translated into various
other languages. This group of writings has been used as both a theological and
historical document, while there are no clear lines distinguishing the two. It becomes
apparent in studying the New Testament that it is a group of texts discussing Jesus
Christ as the Son of God, and the origin and spread of Christianity while including a
heavy influence of the societies of the authors.
The New Testament comes from at least eight different authors who lived during and
after the life of Jesus. Each of the writings, while dealing with Jesus, his teachings or
the spread of Christianity, has a historical undertone. There are clear bits of historical
context throughout the anthology that allow the books to be dated and provide
insight to the world of the authors. When the prophetic destruction of the temple in
Jerusalem is being discussed in the gospels, it is clear that the authors are discussing
the threat of the

money they use a cheap and effective process of extraction called cyanide heap

solution that penetrates through the pile and bonds with the flecks of gold. The
cyanide solution with gold will drain into a staging reservoir. Afterwards the gold
cyanide solution will be mixed with carbon making the gold particles bond. Then it

37. Adult Attachment Styles
Attachment research has predominately thought of attachment as a single personality
trait constant across relationships. Early research on adult attachment was based on
the thought that individual differences were categorical and that people fell into one
of several different attachment styles, such as secure, avoidant, or anxious
ambivalent. Although the categorical model continues to guide much of attachment
research, it is now challenged by the dimensional model of adult attachment styles.
The current study uses modern taxometric methods to compare the two models to see
if adults have a categorical attachment style or a dimensional attachment style. The
Experiences in Close Relationships Relationships Structure Questionnaire (ECR RS)
was used to measure attachment in a variety of relationship type including parental,
romantic partners, and nonromantic best friends. The ECR RS was also used to

Comprehension is a construction process because it involves all of the elements of
the reading process working together as a text is read to create a representation of
the text in the reader s mind (В¶1).
Finally, literary competence is defined by Brumfit and Carter (1996) as follows:
Literary education is seen by many as the inculcation in students of the kind of
sensitivity to literature which allows discrimination of the good from the bad . When
we have achieved defined capacities of judgment, then we have acquired a literary

In the era of television, the Internet and computer games, the role of literature as a
source of entertainment is rapidly declining. One has to admit that watching
television or surfing the Internet is easier for a tired mind that to read a book or a
magazine which requires some attention, imagination and preferably reflection.
However, the decline has not solely been the result of the accessibility of the afore
mentioned media, it has been caused by the general lack of awareness about the
importance of literacy, reading comprehension and subsequently lack of literary
competence among ordinary people. The statistics are alarming. As CAF (Campaign
for America s Future) reports there are 774 million people illiterate in the world due
to such factors as wars, poverty or discrimination. It is

40. Effective And Efficient Use Of Investment Tax Incentives
Executive Summary
It has been observed from past experiences that there is ample room for effective and
efficient use of investment tax incentives in Australia. It was found that tax incentives
are does not make much impact on changing the investment climate and many times
tax incentives turned out to be redundant that is, investment would have been
undertaken even without the incentives. The fiscal cost of tax incentives can be high,
reducing opportunities for other required spending like on infrastructure, education
and health care or any other sector.
Effective and efficient use of tax incentives for small businesses requires careful tax
designed. Many times government use income tax exemptions to attract investment
or persuade for joint ventures to attract investments. Good infrastructure, long term
effective policies, economic stability etc. are important for bringing investment. There
is a need of have correct taxation policy to really have a great impact on domestic

Good governance of tax incentives is critical for small business growth. Transparency

are many stakeholders involved in the tax incentive proposal approval but the best in
the ministry of finance that enforced and monitored by the tax administration. To

44. The Complex Variety Of Stimuli We Constantly Encounter
Essay
Abstract
Our uniqueness in solving problems and forming an understanding of the complex
variety of stimuli we constantly encounter is a defining feature of human
experience. A very powerful problem solving tool is known as the Mental Set and
takes place largely at an unconscious level. Mental sets increase the problem solving
success rate for related problems by enlisting a mental framework that recycles
methods that proved successful for solving similar problems in the past. Conversely,
the mental set inhibits the success of similar problems that require a slightly different
method to be solved. Once in a mental set, it is difficult to find a solution for a novel
problem. Mental sets vary in the intensity and duration in which they inhibit an
individual s creativity for solving novel problems. The mental processes that allow
for mental sets have long been viewed as static. Recent research involving
transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation
(tDCS) has provided support that these processes are actually quite dynamic and
capable of being influenced in a laboratory setting. Dissolving a mental set with these
aforementioned procedures has also been shown to temporarily induce savant skills. I

It is well known that individuals with savant syndrome and autistic spectrum disorder

responsible citizenship through educational programs. For example, several colleges
offer degree programs and minors that provide emphasis on principles of
sustainability. One last piece of evidence is when President Baker mentions the
specific learning centers and institutions that provide environmental education.
Baker introduces his evidence of the university s compliance by referring to Cal Poly
s Master Plan that sets out the university s mission. According to him, many elements
are included in this mission to create a comprehensive vision of sustainability, one of
these elements being environmental protection. Although this is a valid reason,
President Baker also states other reasons that are not pertinent to the environment. He
speaks of a personally safe university and one that is more culturally diverse.
Throughout the speech, President Baker displays a sense of urgency and passion
about environmental preservation. As the president of the university and host of the

is said in the text. William Faulkner sets an intense mood at the beginning of the story
when announcing the death of Miss Emily Grierson. Not many stories start off with
death, but in this case, Emily s death is a very important key point to the story. The
narrator manipulates time in the way he tells the story. The narrator starts off with
with Emily s death and continues the story with the past, the late past, and the past

these things to set up a decked room as for a bridal in her house, and sets homer s

causing violence in society but then how is it that violent crimes are actually
decreasing in the United States. The violencethat is occurring is actually due from
the mentally ill, poor parenting, and the location of where one lives in society.
Violence has actually decreased over the decades even though media has more
violence than ever before. According to a report done by Lawrence W Reed with
the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, by the age of 18 an American child will
have seen 16,000 simulated murders and 200,000 acts of violence. These are
astounding figures yet crime has hit a nine year low (Frieden). Because of these
statistics media is not causing more crime in America. The actual correlation
between being exposed to media violence and actually acting violently are not
conclusive. According to Jonathan L. Freedman of the University of Toronto, The
Surgeon General s Report on Youth Violence concluded that exposure to television
violence causes a short term increase in aggression, but when on to say that
television violence has little or no role in causing real violence. Again this is
showing that there might be a little aggressive behavior caused by media violence but
the long term effects are not what is causing
