Texting While Driving Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Texting While Driving" poses a significant challenge. Firstly,
the topic is laden with emotional weight, as it pertains to a dangerous behavior with potentially
fatal consequences. Addressing this issue requires a delicate balance between presenting factual
information, discussing the psychological and societal implications, and advocating for change
without sounding preachy or didactic.
Moreover, finding credible sources and statistics to support arguments can be time-consuming,
given the evolving nature of research in this field. The essay must delve into various aspects such
as the cognitive distraction of texting, its impact on reaction times, the legal framework
surrounding distracted driving, and potential solutions ranging from legislation to technological
interventions.
Additionally, there's a need to consider the audience's perspective. The essay should aim to
engage readers by appealing to their empathy, logic, and sense of responsibility. Balancing the
gravity of the issue with the need for constructive dialogue is crucial to ensure the essay
resonates with its intended audience.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on this topic demands meticulous research, careful consideration
of tone and audience, and a commitment to raising awareness without resorting to

The Slave Code Of 1705 And The Declaration Of
Independence
The colonies of British North America were a very unequal place in which
different classes and races were treated very differently. Despite this, ideas of
freedom still developed because the colonists believed that they were being treated
unfairly by the British parliament. Two documents that convey that these ideas of
freedom were able to develop in a place where the citizens were not treated equally
are the Virginia Slave Code of 1705 and The Declaration of Independence . The
Virginia Slave Code of 1705 is a document that rewards white and christian slave
owners and punishes any person who is non white or non christian. One part of the
code states that ...all servants imported and brought into this country, by sea or land,
who were not christians in their native country, shall be accounted and be slave, and
as such be here bought and sold notwithtanding a conversion to christianity
afterwards... ( Virginia Slave Code of 1705 ). This would make any non christian
person who was brought into the colony of Virginia a slave. So ideas of religious
freedom are nonexistent in the colony and immediately a sense of power was given
to christians because christianity was the only religion that was acceptable in the
colony. Another section of the code says that ...That no negros, mulattos, or Indians,
although christians, or Jews, Moors, Mahometans, or other infidels, shall, at any time,
purchase any christian servant, nor any other, except of their own complexion, or

Gymnastics Persuasive Speech Topics
In the sport of gymnastics, you learn a lot of life lessons. You learn time
management, respect, and hot to take care of your body. In my life, I m so glad that
gymnastics is a part of my life because I ve gotten the opportunity to learn all these
characteristics. I m not just going to tell you about how much I love gymnastics, but
how much gymnastics has made an impact on my life. I know what you re thinking.
What can gymnastics teach me? How is it important? Why is this girl writing about a
silly sport? Well, for starters, gymnastics is most definitely not just some silly sport.
In gymnastics you learn time management. Now time management isn t just finishing
something in a certain amount of time. Time management is being able to get your
work done in a certain amount of time and being able to work efficiently. In
gymnastics time management is HUGE! During a competition warm up, you don t

But these characteristics also don t just apply for gymnastics. They are applied in
your daily life: at home, talking with friends, school work, and even your jobs! If
you don t respect your coaches at the gym, then you re not going to receive respect.
You re also not going to have a good reputation. If you don t work hard then how
will you even get motivated of improve? And if you don t have determination then
you don t have a goal you re working up to reach! Most of all, I think gymnastics
has daught me determination because I m determined to work to the best of my
abilities and what I m capable of. This characteristic transfers over to my school
work also because I m determined to get good grades and of the best I can be. But I
couldn t be determined without hard work. I I didn t work hard, then I wouldn t
know what success felt like and I wouldn t be able to set my goals so high. Because
without a realistic goal, you re just
What Is Metaphors Used In The Gothic Novel
These dark overtones and internal tensions laid the foundation perfectly for the
development of the gothic novel. The fear of the unknown are represented in
Radcliffe s gothic novel as the mystery surrounding the fates of other women. Once
Emily has found out the truth about the other women, then she is freed of her fears
and is able to cope with them. In a very real way she has made the transition to
confidence in herself and her own future. This particular brand of gothic novel seems
to be an encouragement to women and reassures them. Metaphors and Simile have
been a part of the human experience since man began comparing and contrasting
things to one another. Used by poets and novelists alike to express comparisons, these
elements are extremely useful to the writer. Radcliffe manages to use metaphors to
continue and round out the overall tone of the novel. This, too, is evident in the Vol.
2, ch. 5 example. As the landscape changes, she is evoking an implied metaphor
stating that experience is constantly changing and that sometimes, if one is lucky, one
will suddenly hit upon an inner truthor two, which comes as a result of the constant
changing. Interestingly enough, Radcliffe also employs very Romantic Era
techniques of utilizing nature to illustrate some of these truths, both inner and outer.
In the Vol. 2, ch. 5 piece, the landscape is described in detail. If Classical styles were
seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced, structured, and rational, then
Amendments of the U.S. Constitution
Amendments of the U.S. Constitution HIS/301 Amendments of the U.S. Constitution
The United States Constitution is a beloved document of this country. In this
document many powers, liberties, and freedoms are given to the citizens of the
United States of America. These citizens were first made up of immigrants or settlers
from England who wanted a place to live without fear of death, and freedom of
liberties. The people who made up the first colonies of the America s fought long and
hard through many generations to get to the point they were at writing the
Constitution. Though writing the Constitution was the icing on the cake for those
who lived in America and those looking to live in America, there was a time when

There are many different practicing religions in America because of the first
amendment. The Bill of Rights also made it possible for a movement to begin that we
now call Women s Liberation, eventually giving women the right to vote. The fact
that the right of freedom of speech was a protected right made it easier for people to
speak out about injustices. The civil rights movement was because of the proposed
unconstitutionality of some laws that went against the portion called the Bill of
Rights. The fight for civil rights was won because people knew that the equality of
people was not being met as the Constitution provided for. More than two hundred
years later there are still ongoing effects from the Bill of Rights adoption to the
Constitution. Amendments Twelve, Twenty Two, and Twenty Five To date there are
Twenty Seven Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The three that I will be

original Constitutional document the structure of the government was addressed,
including the office of the Presidency. It is assumed by many that any issues with the
Presidency would have been addressed when the Constitution was drafted. The need
for amendments was noticed by the drafters of the Constitution, and no part of the
Constitution was without scrutiny, or error. In Article II of the Constitution it states

Uranium Mining in Australia Essay
To what extent should there be limitation on the mining of uranium in Australia ?
Uranium has become a big issue as an alternative energy resource in the future due to
the shortage of fossil fuel as a primary energy resource in the world. Australia is one
of country that has the largest uranium deposits in the globe. So, Australia has
important opportunity to make a lot of money from uranium exports to other
countries. However, the Australian Government is still debating this issue because of
the negative impact of uranium mining and exploration. For these reason, some
people believe that uranium mining has more positive impacts on the economy such
as, income benefits from uranium exports and an increase a new job opportunities.
However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also point out that the industry has forty per cent of the world uranium reserves.
Based on that reasons, the uranium industry in Australia could make a big profit from
export of uranium if the government takes it seriously. Also, they should be good
regulation for uranium trading such as local trading and international trading. So,
some people think that there should not be limitations on mining of uranium. Another
argument against the limitations on uranium mining in Australia is that uranium
mining can increase job opportunities to local people in Australia. According to
Greenpeace Australia Pacific (2006), the uranium industry could create a large
number of job opportunities because this industry needs a lot of employees to support
this industry. If the Australian Government expands its uranium mining, it will create
potential local jobs and it would be one solution to solve the unemployment problem.
So, some people believe that the limitation of uranium mining is not necessary
because it can reduce job opportunities in Australia. These economic concerns are
important in the uranium mining debate because the Australian Government can
make huge profits from that industry and solve the unemployment problem as well.
However, there are some important aspects that must be considered such as, uranium
as the main material for nuclear weapons, nuclear power is not efficient or effective,
and there is harmful radiation from the mining of uranium. The first reason
Swot Analysis Of Shake Shack
Shake Shack is a fast growing burger company that follows the trend of the fast casual
restaurant and has experienced rapid growth in the US and internationally as well
over the past decade, holding over 40 international locations[site]. However, Shake
Shack has yet to enter Canada a place that holds many opportunities that the company
can capitalize on using their strengths and overcoming their weaknesses. The
company s focus on corporate social responsibility and sustainable practices in
production can be used to maximize the opportunities in Canada. Shake Shack holds
many initiatives that focus on the environment ranging from water conservation to
recycling, which may be beneficial in creating a positive brand in the location. Studies

Furthermore, Shake Shack should bring awareness to its community involvement,
such as donating and supporting local charities and organizations, respectively. The
introduction to its already popular community program Shack Track Field would
also benefit the company in a location like Vancouver, as the city s consumers are
known for being fairly health oriented. This strategy could also lead to marketing and
highlighting the company s community involvement and overall presence in the
competition as well. Moreover, Shake Shack s strong brand presence can be utilized
when entering Vancouver s food industry scene, as its large social media following
has the potential to build on a viral marketing campaign with a low cost. In recent
years, the company has built a devout following through social media, and its first
entry into an international market in Vancouver, Canada could generate a lot of
attention. It is highly recommended that the company follows through with utilizing
its social media presence to minimize the fact that the company allocates a rather
small budget for marketing.
The Sound And The Fury By William Faulkner
In William Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury themes such as culture and names are
displayed through the perspective of the formerly respectable Compson family. Led
by Mr. and Mrs. Compson. Faulkner uses this novel to criticize the importance of
reputations to southern families and to criticize the culture of Post Bellum society.
Criticizing society was something relatively new at this time, resulting in this novel
becoming a leader in the movement, ushering in a new style of writing. Protagonists:
Benjamin, Caddy, and Quentin all feel the effects of the issues of reputation and
ideologies of society that culture in the south attempts to force them to uphold. The
beginning of the Novel places the reader in the mind of Benjamin Compson.... Show

Another example is Benjy s castration. Benjy has a special connection to his sister
Caddy. Caddy goes against the grain of society and treats Benjy as her brother, not
as a burden or an ill judgment from God like the rest of her family. I thought that
Benjamin was punishment enough for any sins I have committed I thought he
was my punishment for putting aside my pride and marrying a man who held
himself above me I don t complain I loved him above all of them because of it
because my duty (Faulkner) When Caddy ran away he grieved by the fence,
watching the school girls return to their homes, hoping that Caddy would return to
hers. Benjamin attempts to grab one of the girls resulting in him being labeled as a
threat. Benjy s assault was not intended to be sexual. However, it was still seen as
a threat. Not only a threat to the families of the girls, but also a threat to the
Compsons. If Benjy reproduced it would plague them with another child, most
likely suffering from the same disabilities as its father. Another direct example of
Benjy being viewed as inferior. Faulkner uses Benjy to display the flaws of the
ideology towards disabled peoples in Post Bellum culture. The theme of names is
also present with Benjy. Faulkner uses Benjy to criticize the importance of ones
reputation in the south. It can be inferred several times from close examination of
Mrs. Compsons dialogue that she often worries about how Benjamin
Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, And Abraham Lincoln
Leaders, Achievers, Courage are only a few words that describe Frederick
Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and Abraham Lincoln and what they achieved.
Frederick Douglass was a very courageous man and leader because he stood up for
what was right and he escaped slavery, For Example in the text it says The more I
read , the more I was led to abhor and detest my enslavers . What that sentence
means is that he was reading a book about a slave and his master and the more he
read the more he wanted to enslave all slaves. Sojourner Truth was a courageous
leader. She stood up for what she thought was right and for her that was women
rights and ending slavery. In fact, in the text is says Then that little man in black
there, he says women can t have as much right as men, cause christ wasn t a women!
Where did your Christ come from? Where did your Christ come from? From God
and a women! Man had nothing to do with him. ANother sentence was Then they talk
about this thing in the head;what s this they call it? [Members of audience whispers
Intellect ] That s it honey. What s that got to f with women rights or negroes rights.
She would always stand up for what was right. Abraham Lincolnwas a Achiever and a
Courageous leader. He was the man that stopped slavery. It s Important to realize,
that in the text it said My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My
father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will, The ship is anchor d safe and

Short Summary Of Oprah Winfrey
Summary of Oprah Gail Winfrey
This well known television personality was born into a childhood of poverty on the
29th of January 1954. Oprah was born to a single unmarried mother in her teenage
years. As a result, her mother was not able to look after her and placed Oprah with
her grandmother in the rural area of Mississippi. Her grandmother would often use
physical abuse as discipline for minor acts of transgressions. At a young age, her
grandmother taught her to read, write and recite Bible verses at Church gatherings.
She knew how to read and write when she began kindergarten and was soon moved
to grade one (Street, 2015). At the age of six, Oprah had moved to Wisconsin to
live with her mother. Her mother was a domestic worker and worked long hours.
Sadly when her mother was home, she would often spend most of her time with
Oprah s half sister and this left young Oprah feeling neglected (Krohn, 2015).
Oprah then moved to live with her father in Tennessee. Here Oprah was taught the
importance of education and her father insisted that she improved herself through
learning and regularly took her to the library. She was once again moved to grade
three because of her excellent grades. After a year, Oprah visited her mother and

Gun Control Laws Should Not The Safety Of The Citizens
America is the number one country for number of gun related deaths ratio each year.
In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in
Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127 (Moore Michael, 51:15
51:48). Due to the United States having the greatest number of gunrelated deaths, it is
almost essential to implement gun control laws that restrict people from purchasing
and owning dangerous firearms. The laws that are created to control the guns should
ultimately keep the safety of the citizens first. Of course, there is no easy way or
solution to please both sides of the argument, but there should be a balance between
both sides.
In 2008 a survey was conducted stating: Adult poll respondents ... Show more

In the 1900s America like other counties during that time considered guns a tool used
to survive and protect. As Americans civilized the wilderness, they would eventually
be able to rely not just on their own skills at individual self defense for protection, but
on laws and civil authorities and the other institutions of government they were
building ( Whitney, Pg. 103). In the early 1900s The United Statesdid not have the
modern civil authorities that are used today. Citizens relied on firearms to protect
not only themselves but their family, and property because law enforcement was
basic and simple. What was deemed acceptable then is not now in America and that
is why the Second Amendment was ideal in the 1900s. Firearms of military grade
that have the ability to shoot 700 950 rounds/min, like the M16, did not exist.
Firearms during that time did not come close the capability of modern weapons that
are available today and that is one of the reasons why gun control was not a pressing
issue. The need for Gun control became necessary throughout history as technology
advanced and different types of firearms emerged that were more powerful and
deadly. Also the issues of people becoming more interested in guns not only for civic
duty but for entertainment/ recreational use lead to
Marli Heimann
The relationship between artist and machine first came to light in the writings of
philosopher, Walter Benjamin, with Benjamin stating that photography is the first,
truly revolutionary means of reproduction. With the advent of photography, a
different method of art reproduction was brought into the forefront, allowing for a
wide array of interpretation, while effectively striking a harmonious balance between
the viewer and subject in regards to relatability. Josef Albers Marli Heimann, All

human expression, allowing for an intimate look into Albers personal connection with
his subject through a mechanical mode of production. Albers photograph [Figure 1] of

instinctive choice made on the part of Albers. By shrinking the remaining prints of
Heimann, the viewer has no choice but to step up to the piece itself in order to get a
closer and better look of Heimann. This subtle technique that Albers uses serves as a
marker to his genius, and his thorough understanding of the craft. Albers has a deep
connection to his subject, which is exuded in the array of expressions depicted onto
each print. Therefore, by having the audience exercise the need to look closely at the
smaller prints below, Albers thus extends this connection to the onlooker. To reiterate
what was stated before Heimann is good with the camera, and due in part to her being
comfortable with Albers, the level of facial expression emotes realistic conveyance,
and is not contrived with two dimensional feeling. The implementation of lighting is
artfully done, resulting in a high contrast effect of subtle, grey shadows, which sit
delicately across Heimann s face. Such an effect also helps Heimann to continue her
flirtatious relationship with the camera. The range of facial expressions vary notably,
thought by not much. She is demure and ladylike in one print, coquettish and playful
in the next, brooding and shy in another. Albers capturing of these moments offer
Examples Of Catholism In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
How is Catholicism critiqued in Chronicle of a Death Foretold through the character
of Father Amador In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, MГЎrquez s characterisation of
Father Carmen Amador, the town s priest, as a ritualistic, incompetent and
hypocritical man reveals and critiques the hollowness of Colombian Catholicism.
Though a minor character, Amador, a representation of the Church in a
predominantly Catholic society, is integral to an acute understanding of the novel.
Amador , a Spanish name that translates to lover of God , ostensibly portrays
Father Amador as a paragon of piety. In his role as a mediatory agent between man
and God, the priest is responsible for providing religious guidance and leadership in
the town. Reflecting a consensus of his authority and moral responsibility to prevent
the murder, several townspeople send peremptory warnings of the twin s threats to
Father Amador. Yet despite this, Amador not only fails to save Santiago, but also
contributes to the absurdity of the murder, thereby exposing his name to be an ironic
misnomer that underscores his hypocrisy. Through Father Amador s neglect of moral

Amador confesses the autopsy was as if we killed him all over again after he was

Amador s technical detailing of Santiago s wounds in the autopsy report, which
foreshadows the description of the twins knife thrusts in the novel s ending. This
contributes to the foretold nature of the murder and the ritualistic repetition of the
crime, which could have the effect of reducing the shock and brutality of the murder
scene and therefore further stressing the inhumanity of the autopsy and the guilt of

Tiger Woods Research Paper
Tiger Woods has been hailed as one of the greatest golfers, if not athletes, of all time.
He has trumped other golfers and sports observers for the past 19 years as he has

many factors in his life, and has varied throughout the years having his ups and

The Evolution of Folk Music Vocals
The Evolution of Folk Music Vocals
By its definition, folk music technically refers to indigenous forms of music created
by local, regional or native populations as a way of engaging in cultural expression.
This means that at its core, folk music is not intended to command a commercial
value nor is it necessarily folk music by definition once a form has been co opted by
an outside culture. However, this is also a definition for folk which has long been
rendered obsolete by the aesthetic and vocal qualities that listeners tend to associate
with the genre today. This is because the most historically significant instances in
which folk music converged with the commercial zeitgeist would come to produce a
highly distinctive set of sounds.
Indeed, when we think of folk music, one tends instantly to conjure image of a young
Bob Dylan with harmonica rack and guitar, wheezing his half singing, half speaking
vocal style in Greenwich Village. This iconic vision from the Folk Revival of the
1960s is probably the best bridge that we have to folk influences like the socialist
activists of the Almanac Singers and the Weavers, like Delta country folk singers
like Mississippi John Hurt or Josh White, or like bluegrass innovators such as the
Carter Family. Indeed, Nelson (2010) tells that figures such as Woody Guthrie, Pete
Seeger, and John and Alan Lomax, made a huge impact on folk music in America,
one which is still felt today. It is likely that their joint efforts with each other and
Critical Analysis Of The Film A Few Good Men
There is a numerus amount of literature showing the differences between the
normal US citizens and military personnel, however most of this research is in the
medical field and the way that military personnel are treated medically. In this
literature review and final paper the topic will be still on that of a barrier between
these two groups of people but more in the treatment and adherence to laws. By
looking at literature directly involved with the film A Few Good Men and with
topics surrounding the themes of the film I am able to show the barrierbetween the
militaryand the everyday citizens. In the five articles addressed, there are multiple
major themes or ideas that help us to understand the differences, or lack there or,
between the different sides. I intend to use ideological criticism and cluster
criticism in order to analyze the film A Few Good Men, but before this it is
important to understand what these two methods are, and how they are able to work
together to show the differences between the people of the military and the people of
the country they fight for. In the description of these methods I will show the origin
of the methods, some assumption and a relevant definition of each to gain
understanding. By understanding the methods I will then look at how they are
actually used and how that will help my analysis in the long run. Finally I will
describe why my methods are important and why they are relevant to this study, not
only this but it is

many different answers; but some answers everyone would agree with is
something fast, cheap, and good quality. This is the market that fast casual has been

many world famous chefs to try and create their own concepts. In her article,
DeJesus talks about how two Michelin starred chef Joshua Skenes is partnering

concept called Fat Noodle. Here guests will be able to dine on the recipes of
Joshua Skenes for $6 10 per meal. So now we have high quality chefs who want to

Climate Changes And Climate Change Essay
Climate change could be described as any process that causes adjustment to climate
system be it a volcanic eruption to a change in the solar activity. Today, however, the
phrase is most often used as climate change caused by humans. Climate change is
also used commonly with another phrase global warming reflecting scientific
observations of strong warming trends over the past century or so. Indicators like
rising sea levels, retreating snow cover and glaciers, longer growing seasons and
shifting wildlife has alarmed scientific community unanimously agreeing that the
earthhas warmed in the last century. Experts however are of the opinion that climate
changeis a more accurate phrase than global warming as the latter is just one
component affecting the larger climatesystems of the earth.
Based on these facts we can consider: that Climate change is a result of natural
occurrences of the adjustments done by the climate systems or a result of
anthropogenic (man made) factors leading to an acceleration of global temperatures
witnessed in the past century . Natural adjustments to climate systems:
Scientists have discovered climate forcing s influence variations in climate systems
and based on the depth and period of such forcing s the adjustments to climate may
be in a shorter or longer earth cycle. Natural forcing s like variations in earth s orbit,
solar variation, volcanic eruptions and motion of tectonic plates have influence on the
Earth s climate
Financial Statements And Other Reports
Companies gather various information, including financial statements and other
reports as a way to track their performance compared to past years. This information
is also used to communicate with stakeholders about various topics depending on the
reporting style. One type of such reporting is a business unit reporting where
organizations gather information about separate divisions of the company to see if
each division is functioning properly. There are separate accounts for each segment,
so the company can examine if each division is operating at a loss or profit. By
creating separate accounts, businessreporting provides accurate reports on a company

divisions that Windstream focuses on. It is important to designate that this does not

the two categories. The operational strategy for Consumer and SMB is to invest in
new opportunities in order for the division to grow. Some of the strengths this area

Bar Soap Synthesis Lab from Fats and Lye
Introduction
When an acid and a base combine they neutralize each other and make a salt. In
simple terms, saponification is the name for a chemical reaction between an acid
and a base to form a salt called soap. 409575187388500 Saponification has been used
for centuries as a part of the soap making industry. Many companies create a variety
of soap products for commercial use, soaps can be in multiple forms like bars, liquid,
or even powder. In this lab it was planned to create a bar of soap. Heating triglyceride
in a fat or oil with an aqueous alkali, sodium hydroxide, results in hydrolysis of the
triglyceride esters forming soap. (Ausetute, 2014) A visual aid is presented in figure
1. (Chem La Tech, 2003)
To create soap, two major raw materials are needed, fat and alkali. The alkali most
commonly used today in soap making is sodium hydroxide. Potassium hydroxide can
also be used. The alkali used in this lab was sodium hydroxide; sodium hydroxide
was used as a reagent which is a substance that is used in a chemical reaction to
produce other substances. The common term for an alkali is simply lye . Modern
soap makers use fat that has been processed into fatty acids. (Made How, 2008)
This removes many contaminations and it produces as a by product of water
instead of glycerin. Many vegetable fats, including olive oil and coconut oil, are also
used in soap making. Since the fat or oil starting materials are not soluble in water, the

BABYMETAL) has taken the music world by storm. Their rapid rise to success has
caught a lot of people s attention within and outside the metal community,
culminating in a North American tour where they opened for none other than Lady

So who are these young teenage girls and what are they doing on stage with a metal

What has the metal community s reaction been to them? Are they the real deal ? Is

Whatever your opinion may be about the kind of music that they play and perform,
there is no denying that every member is a talented musician. The 3 girls are
excellent vocalists overall. Even the backing band is full of top notch musicians.
Guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura even plays for ex Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman
s band. Live, they are one of the most exciting acts to see with their high energy
performances. Their live shows are well staged events with choreographed dance
routines, elaborate lighting, and heavy use of props. Unlike an average metal
concert, their shows are not only about the music, but also about the whole
experience. This is not to say that their music is not good, because they really bring it
on the stage.
What has the metal community s reaction been like? Polarising. Babymetal has
faced a lot of backlash from tr00 metal fans, the primary reasons being their
gimmicky style and that they are just a bunch of musicians who are paid to
perform live, and whose music is dictated by record labels. However some metal
fans have accepted them with open arms, calling them a breath of fresh air in a
genre struggling for relevancy. Their fans also include young kids, crossover J pop

CLIMATE CHANGESHOULD BE A POLITICAL AND NOT A SCIENTIFIC
PROBLEM
Introduction
Global warming has become one of the most important scientific, political and
economic issues. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change), the period between 1995 and 2006 seems to have been one of the warmest
yet recorded since 1850 relevant variables such as changes in ocean temperatures,
changes in terrestrial ecosystems, the decrease in the extent of snow and ice in the
northern hemisphere, the shortening of the cold seasons, melting glaciers, reduction
in the extent of permafrost and rising sea level, provide clear evidence of that the
world is warming (Miller, 2013). Delay and limit climate change requires long term,
large international effort. The most important is the current via the United Nations
Convention on Climate Change has given, but it is also important to take preventive
measures at national level (Gonzales, 2013). Industrialized countries have made some
progress, albeit limited, in curbing GHG emissions (greenhouse gasses) recognizing
the urgent need to develop specific policies, such as the use of emissions permits,
taxes energy and environmental, industrial voluntary measures, regulatory
The Habits Of Authentic Leadership
Habits of Authentic Leadership
Stephen R. Covey has authored numerous leadership and personal growth books.
This paper focuses on the book titled The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
and its relation to the theory of authentic leadership as well as its application to
nursing practice. All seven of the habits are valuable to nursing practice, enabling
nurses to become more effective leaders and care providers. The habits applying to
authentic leadership principles that will be discussed are begin with the end in mind,
think win win, synergize, and finally, sharpen the saw.

Relationships are built and connections are established with others in order to
strengthen the human bond (Shirey, 2006). Authentic leaders display self discipline
by establishing a balance among their personal and professional lives (Shirey, 2006).
These characteristics apply to the following habits of effective people and can also be
incorporated into nursing practice.
Begin With the End in Mind
One habit discussed in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is Begin with the
end in mind , which is based on the concept of beginning every day and every task
with a clear vision of the desired goals and direction while being proactive to make
these happen. This habit is grounded on the ability to envision the future and define
one s personal, moral, and ethical guidelines which contribute to the attainment of the
desired outcomes or destination (Covey, 2004).
This concept aligns with the characteristics of purpose and value in an authentic
leader. Having this clear vision and drive to achieve outcomes is also an important
in a quality nurse. Each nurse possesses their own personal, moral, and ethical
frameworks and these direct how nurses will achieve their goals and which
outcomes they desire. The ability to have a precise view of what one wants to
accomplish would allow a nurse to follow his/her dreams and passions to achieve
what they truly desire in the flexible field of

Social Constraint In Kate Chopin s The Awakening
I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of
rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives. Jane Austen,
Persuasion Jane Austen an English novelist known for her works on the British
gentry comments on the mislead perception of women as people who live perfectly
under social pressure without the desire to rationally make their own decisions. A
similar idea of social constraint and perception of women is dealt with in Kate
Chopin s novel The Awakening. Sparking a social controversy following its
publication, it was classified to be one of the earliest feminist novels, championed by
groups of young women in want of political and social equality. In this defining work,

From the very beginning of the novel, Chopin employs the symbol of a caged
parrot and a chained mockingbird to illustrate Edna s captivity under the Victorian
norms. The novel starts off with Mr. Pontellier reading his newspaper as a green
and yellow parrot hangs in a cage screeching repeatedly, Allez vouz en! Allez vous
en! Sapristi! That s all right! (1). Edna is indeed comparable to the parrot in a cage:
in her marriage, she has very little personal space or freedom to come, go, think or
even feel as she pleases. This becomes evident early on in the novel. Her husband
views her as a ...piece of personal property... (2) and assumes she exists solely for
him and their children. He has considerable control over her, which she has only of
late even thought of resisting. One night Edna stays out in the garden, and when
LГ©once asks her to come in, they are both surprised that she does not do as he
wishes immediately. This is clearly exceptional: it is stated in the novel that
[a]nother time she would have gone in at his request. She would, through habit, have
yielded to his desire (31). When she does not do so this time,
Rosalind Franklin And The Double Helix Summary
The article Rosalind Franklin and the Double Helix explains Franklin s journey
throughout the years to help her become the famous scientist that she became.
From her family educational background, to her work with Watson and Crick, to
her role with creating the double helix, she made a huge impact on upcoming
female scientists. She even ended her life doing what she enjoyed, and that was
for science. Rosalind Franklin was born on July 25th,1920. She was raised in a
well educated family. Both of her parents loved science, and that is where she
learned to love it as well. The women in the Franklin family especially excelled in
smarts and creativity. Which was not common at the time, because most scientists
were male. From an early age, Rosalind expressed an early love for science in
general, but specifically chemistry and physics. She decided to go to college and
study natural sciences and got her bachelor s degree. She then earned her PhD in
physical chemistry at Cambridge college in 1945. From there, she was offered to
work with Jacques Mering in Paris at the Laboratoire Central des Services
Chimiques de l Etat. He taught her a lot of different x ray diffraction techniques that
would benefit her majorly in the future. She wrote many published papers discussing
different experiments she did with Mering. Rosalind Franklin would have not

The Act Of Brainwashing In Ira Leving s This Perfect Day
The act of brainwashing is involuntary reeducating oneself of basic beliefs and
values. This concept explains why totalitarian regimes have the ability to control a
government using science. In Ira Leving s This Perfect Day, a story about a
futuristic dystopia, drug tranquilizers are inserted monthly in each person s body.
The purpose of this narcotic is to force people to behave in a particular manner.
With the drugs in effect, everyone will remain satisfied with life, disregarding if
this is how they personally want to live. The act of choice is taught to be a
manifestation of life because that is what the drugs encourage. This allows the leader
to control everyone s thoughts and beliefs so they do not rebel against who is in
opposition.

Walter presumes that it s always money and how Mama can t use it in the right

now defined by how much money one has. This conversation takes place early in
the play and reveals Mama s and Walters economic struggles. However we see a
turn of events when Walter plans to accept Mr. Lindner s offer. Walter is not
concerned with the degrading implications of the business deal; it is simply a way
to recover some of the lot money. However, Hansberry challenges Walter s crude
interpretation of the American Dream by forcing him to actually carry out the
transaction in front of his son. Walter s inability to deal with Mr. Linder marks a
significant revision of his interpretation of the American Dream. Walter comes to a
realisation that money is not everything and how family is so much more valuable.
During the late 1950 s money was defined as one of the main characteristics of a
man, and who that man will become. Walters dream is to obtain enough money to
provide enough for his family, this dream of his suggests how his American Dream
is also vanished, as money was an immense part of this dream of his. Wily Loman is

The Greatest Debate Of Anthropology
Australopithecus africanus
In the greatest debate of anthropology lies the all consuming desire to know where we
as humans come from. Who were our ancestors and what made them so different
from us? It is debated if A. africanus or Australopithecus afarensis is the direct
ancestor of the genus Homo. Through critical evaluation of the features of the
skeleton, dentition, and use of bipedality, it is evident that A. africanus is a direct
ancestor to modern humans while possessing features from both humans and
hominins. What makes A. africanus more human like than other australopithecines is
its dentition. They had large molars and premolars with shorter canines, the sharp and
pointed incisors towards the front of the mouth, that did not project outwards (Strait).
Canine reduction is evidence of the depart from primitive behaviors such as fighting
or cutting meat; thus, reaching behaviors synonymous with modern man (Dart).
Furthermore, canine reduction and large molars imply the ability to adapt to one s
surroundings as H. sapiens do. An analysis of these molars and premolars revealed
that certain patterns of wear suggest that A. africanus adapted to eat hard and fibrous
foods such as nuts and seeds (Strait). This is evidence of A. africanus expanding the
diet of later hominins, which would be adopted into the modern human diet. The
environment of A. africanus influenced its diet. While its limb proportions suggest a
forested environment, the evidence of bipedality in its

Each of the vendors offers to provide training to our staff as part of the purchase.
They also offer to continue to train our staff as long as we have an account with

customer support from the vendor. We also need quick response to our request for
customer support. Red Hat specifically states that it has 24/7 customer support. What
that means is that twenty four hours and day seven days a week, Red Hat customer
support is ready to provide their services. Ubuntu states that it offers profession
support to its customers. Novell also supports the use of Macs and their operation
system (OS). Some of the advantages of selecting each vendor s product are similar
and still somewhat distinct. Red Hat in (For sap business,) states, that is a
responsive customer support, higher performance standards, collaborative

very important advantage. Higher performance standards are also an important
advantage. Higher performance means we will get what we paid for or more in

The After Life Of Hinduism, Buddhism, And Daoism
The After life of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Daoism
Hinduism, Buddhism, and Daoism are all religions that connect in more than one
way. One major way that these religions connect is through the afterlife, otherwise
known as the unconditioned reality. Hinduism and Buddhism have very similar
views on the afterlife while Daoism has a slightly different view. In the end, they all
have the same goal which is to achieve the final state that lasts forever. Even though
this is true, that does not mean they do not differ in more than one way. Hinduism,
Buddhism, and Daoism rely strongly on theoretical, practical, and sociological
standpoints. A large part of the theoretical standpoints, are myths about the gods and
how things are. A large part of sociological standpoints are festivals, and temples.
Lastly, practical is practiced through mediation, yoga, and payers. In Hinduism, there
are various sects that worship a total of roughly 360,000,000 different gods. As you
could imagine, this would be difficult to generalize in just one essay, so the branch of
Hinduism I will go over just includes the basic trinity and Vedic gods. Along with
this, this essay will include information on the two major types of Buddhism and how
one attains enlightenment. Finally, we will go over how one is to attain immortality
through Daoism, along with the beliefs of the traditional Chinese Folk religions.

First chapter of Billy Sunday The first chapter of Billy Sunday gives us an insight

and take care of them. Ed Sunday was the brother of Billy. On the way to the orphan

Chapman resigned from being an evangelist, Billy was considering going back to
baseball. Helen convinced him not to, so Billy continued to pray. His prayers were
finally answered and a preacher from a Presbyterian Church in Garner, Iowa asked
him to preach at a city wide revival. Billy accepted and led 268 people to salvation.
In the next five years, Billy held 60 revival meetings. Finally, he hired Fred
Fischer, his full time song leader, in 1900 to travel with him. Billy did his
campaigns in a tent and in 1905 ten inches of snow made the tent collapse. He never
again used tents, but used tabernacles instead. Billy was now very popular and did a
lot of revival
Purpose Of Intersectionality In Sociology
Sociology is one of those that focuses on the social construction of race followed
by gender and class and many other social axes that intertwine with one another
and combined or alone create social issues. These social complexities limits people
and reduces the diversity experience that we have in our day to day lives. When
analyzing every single independent issue, we notice that often times when one
person of color speaks or gives their perspective they are believed to be speaking
for all people of color. Here intersectionality challenges this belief that anyone can
speak on behalf of anyone of their race. The purpose of intersectionality in the
nature of this paper is to display how race, gender and class are not social issues
that are different from one another but are focused on separately. Accepting the
reality for intersecting oppressions calls for political struggles and innovations. We
acknowledge that intersectionality is applied in systems within policy and laws that
create these structural oppressions. We have also failed to compensate for
intersectionality because it complicates the singular axis in which we have been able
to declare people advantaged or disadvantaged and privileged or oppressed.
Intersectionality is best defined as a concept or theory of discriminatory or
oppression on minorities and the form in which these avenues, race, class, and
gender, are interconnected. Generally, intersectionality is not something that acts on
its own but instead is
Bass Pro Shops
Prepare a S.W.O.T. analysis for Bass Pro Shops. What types of strategies do you
recommend based on your analysis?
Strengths (company s internal factors from resources and capabilities) Bass Pro
Shops have a competitive advantage, which in the text is defined as a firm has a
marketing mix that the target market sees as better than a competitor s mix
(Perreault et al, 2011 p. 47). The way that Bass Pro Shops has this competitive
advantage is that its stores have become a tourist attraction making customers want to
go into their stores to experience the unique environment that incorporates attractions
and learning opportunities. In addition, Bass Pro Shops have gained recognition for
their outstanding customer service. The people that ... Show more content on

With the economy in a downturn it makes it a lot more difficult for people to
justify spending the money on things that they really do not need. And since these
stores are not everywhere you go it causes people to travel long distances in order
to visit, which means they have to spend additional money on fuel to get there. The
gas prices have been increasing to amounts that have put a damper on a lot of
peoples travel plans. With all of the economic problems some customers are going to
go somewhere that is more local and better in their price range. In addition, Bass Pro
Shops face threats from traditional and specialty sporting stores, mass merchandisers,
and catalog and Internet based retailers. These merchandise providers are everywhere
and the 50 Bass Pro Shops that are currently in the United States and Canada can be
quite a distance for the outdoor enthusiast that already knows what he or she may
need. Furthermore, the consumer who enters a store with the intention to only touch
and / or play with an item that he or she ultimately plans to purchase online threatens
all retail stores.
We would recommend that Bass Pro Shops continue to make their stores unique;
however, making a few smaller stores with some of the same features, lower prices,
and closer to large shopping centers would allow customers to experience the
environment, which may entice them to visit the larger stores. I think that since they
Film Aesthetics
In Film Aesthetics I have watched many fantastic films such as Moonrise Kingdom,
Touch of Evil, Stranger Than Fiction, and many enjoyable movies to watch. All the
movies I have watched have fabulous scenes which have captured my attention,
Opening scene for Touch of Evil by Orson Orwell really caught my attention. The
movements, decor, props, lighting, framing, and the setting of the scene adapted
well. Orwell made these elements coalesce into an original and is why this scene is
highly regarded, the subtitles in the beginning of the scene might of taken away the
a bit feel of the scene, but overall is a scene worth analysing. Touch of Evilis directed
by Orson Welles. As a couple is passing the Mexican border with a car, a bomb goes

We see a couple cross the sidewalk and the camera pans towards them making them
them the subject of the frame shot. This time we can see an even busier street
while couple walks, the car passes buy and we can hear the jazzy American music,
at the same time still keeping the couple walking as the main subject. As the
couple walks we can see the lighting making long shadows. We can see the
American cars and the goats from the Mexican folks distinguishing their outfits,
Americans with suits and Mexicans with a more traditional attire and wearing
cowboy hats. As the couple passes by the streets the meet up to what is assumed to
be a border since we can clearly see the toll booth were two border patrol officers
are at watch, right after an officer at the booth asks uh you folks American citizens?
The woman replies with a I am yes , the officer asks her where she was born miss?
and she replies with a mrs indicating she is a married woman. Then we end up
finding out they are married to each other. As the car with the couple passes by the
toll booth officer the woman says I ve got this ticking noise the officer just yea ok
this indicates the bomb and the officer tells them to proceed through. As couple
walking continues to stroll through to the street they kiss each other, right when they
touch lips Bam!!! we hear the car explode. This scene is absolutely astounding,

  • 3. The Slave Code Of 1705 And The Declaration Of Independence The colonies of British North America were a very unequal place in which different classes and races were treated very differently. Despite this, ideas of freedom still developed because the colonists believed that they were being treated unfairly by the British parliament. Two documents that convey that these ideas of freedom were able to develop in a place where the citizens were not treated equally are the Virginia Slave Code of 1705 and The Declaration of Independence . The Virginia Slave Code of 1705 is a document that rewards white and christian slave owners and punishes any person who is non white or non christian. One part of the code states that ...all servants imported and brought into this country, by sea or land, who were not christians in their native country, shall be accounted and be slave, and as such be here bought and sold notwithtanding a conversion to christianity afterwards... ( Virginia Slave Code of 1705 ). This would make any non christian person who was brought into the colony of Virginia a slave. So ideas of religious freedom are nonexistent in the colony and immediately a sense of power was given to christians because christianity was the only religion that was acceptable in the colony. Another section of the code says that ...That no negros, mulattos, or Indians, although christians, or Jews, Moors, Mahometans, or other infidels, shall, at any time, purchase any christian servant, nor any other, except of their own complexion, or such as

  • 5. What Is Metaphors Used In The Gothic Novel These dark overtones and internal tensions laid the foundation perfectly for the development of the gothic novel. The fear of the unknown are represented in Radcliffe s gothic novel as the mystery surrounding the fates of other women. Once Emily has found out the truth about the other women, then she is freed of her fears and is able to cope with them. In a very real way she has made the transition to confidence in herself and her own future. This particular brand of gothic novel seems to be an encouragement to women and reassures them. Metaphors and Simile have been a part of the human experience since man began comparing and contrasting things to one another. Used by poets and novelists alike to express comparisons, these elements are extremely useful to the writer. Radcliffe manages to use metaphors to continue and round out the overall tone of the novel. This, too, is evident in the Vol. 2, ch. 5 example. As the landscape changes, she is evoking an implied metaphor stating that experience is constantly changing and that sometimes, if one is lucky, one will suddenly hit upon an inner truthor two, which comes as a result of the constant changing. Interestingly enough, Radcliffe also employs very Romantic Era techniques of utilizing nature to illustrate some of these truths, both inner and outer. In the Vol. 2, ch. 5 piece, the landscape is described in detail. If Classical styles were seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced, structured, and rational, then

In this document many powers, liberties, and freedoms are given to the citizens of the United States of America. These citizens were first made up of immigrants or settlers from England who wanted a place to live without fear of death, and freedom of liberties. The people who made up the first colonies of the America s fought long and hard through many generations to get to the point they were at writing the Constitution. Though writing the Constitution was the icing on the cake for those who lived in America and those looking to live in America, there was a time when the original... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many different practicing religions in America because of the first amendment. The Bill of Rights also made it possible for a movement to begin that we now call Women s Liberation, eventually giving women the right to vote. The fact that the right of freedom of speech was a protected right made it easier for people to speak out about injustices. The civil rights movement was because of the proposed unconstitutionality of some laws that went against the portion called the Bill of Rights. The fight for civil rights was won because people knew that the equality of people was not being met as the Constitution provided for. More than two hundred years later there are still ongoing effects from the Bill of Rights adoption to the Constitution. Amendments Twelve, Twenty Two, and Twenty Five To date there are Twenty Seven Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The three that I will be addressing here all have to deal with the Presidency of the United States. In the original Constitutional document the structure of the government was addressed, including the office of the Presidency. It is assumed by many that any issues with the Presidency would have been addressed when the Constitution was drafted. The need for amendments was noticed by the drafters of the Constitution, and no part of the Constitution was without scrutiny, or error. In Article II of the Constitution it states there is to be a President,

Uranium has become a big issue as an alternative energy resource in the future due to the shortage of fossil fuel as a primary energy resource in the world. Australia is one of country that has the largest uranium deposits in the globe. So, Australia has important opportunity to make a lot of money from uranium exports to other countries. However, the Australian Government is still debating this issue because of the negative impact of uranium mining and exploration. For these reason, some people believe that uranium mining has more positive impacts on the economy such as, income benefits from uranium exports and an increase a new job opportunities. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also point out that the industry has forty per cent of the world uranium reserves. Based on that reasons, the uranium industry in Australia could make a big profit from export of uranium if the government takes it seriously. Also, they should be good regulation for uranium trading such as local trading and international trading. So, some people think that there should not be limitations on mining of uranium. Another argument against the limitations on uranium mining in Australia is that uranium mining can increase job opportunities to local people in Australia. According to Greenpeace Australia Pacific (2006), the uranium industry could create a large number of job opportunities because this industry needs a lot of employees to support this industry. If the Australian Government expands its uranium mining, it will create potential local jobs and it would be one solution to solve the unemployment problem. So, some people believe that the limitation of uranium mining is not necessary because it can reduce job opportunities in Australia. These economic concerns are important in the uranium mining debate because the Australian Government can make huge profits from that industry and solve the unemployment problem as well. However, there are some important aspects that must be considered such as, uranium as the main material for nuclear weapons, nuclear power is not efficient or effective, and there is harmful radiation from the mining of uranium. The first reason

In recent years, the company has built a devout following through social media, and its first entry into an international market in Vancouver, Canada could generate a lot of attention. It is highly recommended that the company follows through with utilizing its social media presence to minimize the fact that the company allocates a rather small budget for marketing.
  • 9. The Sound And The Fury By William Faulkner In William Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury themes such as culture and names are displayed through the perspective of the formerly respectable Compson family. Led by Mr. and Mrs. Compson. Faulkner uses this novel to criticize the importance of reputations to southern families and to criticize the culture of Post Bellum society. Criticizing society was something relatively new at this time, resulting in this novel becoming a leader in the movement, ushering in a new style of writing. Benjamin attempts to grab one of the girls resulting in him being labeled as a threat. Benjy s assault was not intended to be sexual. However, it was still seen as a threat. Not only a threat to the families of the girls, but also a threat to the Compsons. If Benjy reproduced it would plague them with another child, most likely suffering from the same disabilities as its father. Another direct example of Benjy being viewed as inferior. Faulkner uses Benjy to display the flaws of the ideology towards disabled peoples in Post Bellum culture. The theme of names is also present with Benjy. Faulkner uses Benjy to criticize the importance of ones reputation in the south. It can be inferred several times from close examination of Mrs. Compsons dialogue that she often worries about how Benjamin

Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, And Abraham Lincoln Leaders, Achievers, Courage are only a few words that describe Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and Abraham Lincoln and what they achieved. Frederick Douglass was a very courageous man and leader because he stood up for what was right and he escaped slavery, For Example in the text it says The more I read , the more I was led to abhor and detest my enslavers . Oprah was born to a single unmarried mother in her teenage years. As a result, her mother was not able to look after her and placed Oprah with her grandmother in the rural area of Mississippi. Her grandmother would often use physical abuse as discipline for minor acts of transgressions. At a young age, her grandmother taught her to read, write and recite Bible verses at Church gatherings. She knew how to read and write when she began kindergarten and was soon moved to grade one (Street, 2015). At the age of six, Oprah had moved to Wisconsin to live with her mother. Her mother was a domestic worker and worked long hours. Sadly when her mother was home, she would often spend most of her time with Oprah s half sister and this left young Oprah feeling neglected (Krohn, 2015). Oprah then moved to live with her father in Tennessee. • 12. Gun Control Laws Should Not The Safety Of The Citizens America is the number one country for number of gun related deaths ratio each year. In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127 (Moore Michael, 51:15 51:48). Due to the United States having the greatest number of gunrelated deaths, it is almost essential to implement gun control laws that restrict people from purchasing and owning dangerous firearms. The laws that are created to control the guns should ultimately keep the safety of the citizens first. Of course, there is no easy way or solution to please both sides of the argument, but there should be a balance between both sides. In 2008 a survey was conducted stating: Adult poll respondents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1900s America like other counties during that time considered guns a tool used to survive and protect. As Americans civilized the wilderness, they would eventually be able to rely not just on their own skills at individual self defense for protection, but on laws and civil authorities and the other institutions of government they were building ( Whitney, Pg. 103). In the early 1900s The United Statesdid not have the modern civil authorities that are used today. Citizens relied on firearms to protect not only themselves but their family, and property because law enforcement was basic and simple. What was deemed acceptable then is not now in America and that is why the Second Amendment was ideal in the 1900s. Firearms of military grade that have the ability to shoot 700 950 rounds/min, like the M16, did not exist. Firearms during that time did not come close the capability of modern weapons that are available today and that is one of the reasons why gun control was not a pressing issue. The need for Gun control became necessary throughout history as technology advanced and different types of firearms emerged that were more powerful and deadly. Also the issues of people becoming more interested in guns not only for civic duty but for entertainment/ recreational use lead to

This subtle technique that Albers uses serves as a marker to his genius, and his thorough understanding of the craft. Examples Of Catholism In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold How is Catholicism critiqued in Chronicle of a Death Foretold through the character of Father Amador In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, MГЎrquez s characterisation of Father Carmen Amador, the town s priest, as a ritualistic, incompetent and hypocritical man reveals and critiques the hollowness of Colombian Catholicism. Though a minor character, Amador, a representation of the Church in a predominantly Catholic society, is integral to an acute understanding of the novel. Amador , a Spanish name that translates to lover of God , ostensibly portrays Father Amador as a paragon of piety. In his role as a mediatory agent between man and God, the priest is responsible for providing religious guidance and leadership in the town. Reflecting a consensus of his authority and moral responsibility to prevent the murder, several townspeople send peremptory warnings of the twin s threats to Father Amador. • 16. The Evolution of Folk Music Vocals The Evolution of Folk Music Vocals By its definition, folk music technically refers to indigenous forms of music created by local, regional or native populations as a way of engaging in cultural expression. This means that at its core, folk music is not intended to command a commercial value nor is it necessarily folk music by definition once a form has been co opted by an outside culture. However, this is also a definition for folk which has long been rendered obsolete by the aesthetic and vocal qualities that listeners tend to associate with the genre today. This is because the most historically significant instances in which folk music converged with the commercial zeitgeist would come to produce a highly distinctive set of sounds. Indeed, when we think of folk music, one tends instantly to conjure image of a young Bob Dylan with harmonica rack and guitar, wheezing his half singing, half speaking vocal style in Greenwich Village. This iconic vision from the Folk Revival of the 1960s is probably the best bridge that we have to folk influences like the socialist activists of the Almanac Singers and the Weavers, like Delta country folk singers like Mississippi John Hurt or Josh White, or like bluegrass innovators such as the Carter Family. Indeed, Nelson (2010) tells that figures such as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and John and Alan Lomax, made a huge impact on folk music in America, one which is still felt today. It is likely that their joint efforts with each other and

In the five articles addressed, there are multiple major themes or ideas that help us to understand the differences, or lack there or, between the different sides. I intend to use ideological criticism and cluster criticism in order to analyze the film A Few Good Men, but before this it is important to understand what these two methods are, and how they are able to work together to show the differences between the people of the military and the people of the country they fight for. In the description of these methods I will show the origin of the methods, some assumption and a relevant definition of each to gain understanding. By understanding the methods I will then look at how they are actually used and how that will help my analysis in the long run. Finally I will describe why my methods are important and why they are relevant to this study, not only this but it is

Today, however, the phrase is most often used as climate change caused by humans. Climate change is also used commonly with another phrase global warming reflecting scientific observations of strong warming trends over the past century or so. Indicators like rising sea levels, retreating snow cover and glaciers, longer growing seasons and shifting wildlife has alarmed scientific community unanimously agreeing that the earthhas warmed in the last century. Through critical evaluation of the features of the skeleton, dentition, and use of bipedality, it is evident that A. africanus is a direct ancestor to modern humans while possessing features from both humans and hominins. Purpose Of Intersectionality In Sociology Sociology is one of those that focuses on the social construction of race followed by gender and class and many other social axes that intertwine with one another and combined or alone create social issues. These social complexities limits people and reduces the diversity experience that we have in our day to day lives. When analyzing every single independent issue, we notice that often times when one person of color speaks or gives their perspective they are believed to be speaking for all people of color. Here intersectionality challenges this belief that anyone can speak on behalf of anyone of their race. The purpose of intersectionality in the nature of this paper is to display how race, gender and class are not social issues that are different from one another but are focused on separately. Accepting the reality for intersecting oppressions calls for political struggles and innovations. We acknowledge that intersectionality is applied in systems within policy and laws that create these structural oppressions. We have also failed to compensate for intersectionality because it complicates the singular axis in which we have been able to declare people advantaged or disadvantaged and privileged or oppressed. Intersectionality is best defined as a concept or theory of discriminatory or oppression on minorities and the form in which these avenues, race, class, and gender, are interconnected. Generally, intersectionality is not something that acts on its own but instead is

Strengths (company s internal factors from resources and capabilities) Bass Pro Shops have a competitive advantage, which in the text is defined as a firm has a marketing mix that the target market sees as better than a competitor s mix (Perreault et al, 2011 p. 47). The way that Bass Pro Shops has this competitive advantage is that its stores have become a tourist attraction making customers want to go into their stores to experience the unique environment that incorporates attractions and learning opportunities. With the economy in a downturn it makes it a lot more difficult for people to justify spending the money on things that they really do not need. And since these stores are not everywhere you go it causes people to travel long distances in order to visit, which means they have to spend additional money on fuel to get there. The gas prices have been increasing to amounts that have put a damper on a lot of peoples travel plans. With all of the economic problems some customers are going to go somewhere that is more local and better in their price range. In addition, Bass Pro Shops face threats from traditional and specialty sporting stores, mass merchandisers, and catalog and Internet based retailers. These merchandise providers are everywhere and the 50 Bass Pro Shops that are currently in the United States and Canada can be quite a distance for the outdoor enthusiast that already knows what he or she may need. Furthermore, the consumer who enters a store with the intention to only touch and / or play with an item that he or she ultimately plans to purchase online threatens all retail stores. We would recommend that Bass Pro Shops continue to make their stores unique; however, making a few smaller stores with some of the same features, lower prices, and closer to large shopping centers would allow customers to experience the environment, which may entice them to visit the larger stores. I think that since they

All the movies I have watched have fabulous scenes which have captured my attention, Opening scene for Touch of Evil by Orson Orwell really caught my attention. The movements, decor, props, lighting, framing, and the setting of the scene adapted well. Orwell made these elements coalesce into an original and is why this scene is highly regarded, the subtitles in the beginning of the scene might of taken away the a bit feel of the scene, but overall is a scene worth analysing.
