Blue-Eyed People Genogram
This documentary was very informative. One of the several things I learned is how people form
perceptions based off what they experience. For example, the children in the third grade class felt they
were more superior than other races because of what they had experienced throughout life. When the
teacher asked them how they viewed black people, the children responded with hateful comments, this
was a result of something they had heard or seen previously. During the experiment, I noticed how
immediately the blue eyed children felt some sense of power over the brown eyed people because of
what the teacher told them. Then on the next day they brown eyed people felt superior. Not only did
both sides experience discrimination, but collectively they learned that discrimination was not right.
This was solely because the teacher taught them about discrimination. The scene that I think will stick
with me is the scene after all the children had finished the experiment. In the end, the children
experienced first hand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the children, it was easy for them to believe anything they were taught because they were so
young. Everything Mrs. Elliott told them they believed it and tried to live it in that moment. The blue
eyed children thought they were better and acted as if they were better. As the children stated, at the
playground the blue eyed children taunted the brown eyed children all because of the labels that were
taught to them. With the prison guards, it was a little harder for them to accept the things they were
being taught. Whenever a blue eyed person would get irritated with Jane Elliot, the would react in a
defensive manner. In return, she used that against them saying that only blue eyed people would act
that way. I believe in the moment, for both groups the labels became true. Essentially, it demonstrates
how something negative or positive can change a

Assessment of the Native American Experience from...
Assessment of the Native American Experience from 1925 1975 Throughout the 1925 1975 period,
the Native American population of the United States has faced many obstacles. Just a few years
before, they had been suppressed by the federal government s Anti Long Hair policy for all Native
American males. This would set the stage for future cultural restraint on the Indians. However, they
continued to fight for equality. All through this time period, the experience of the Native American
culture has been a struggle for equality in their homeland. A major struggle for the Native population
was that of land. This is a primary issue for several reasons. First of all, the Europeans invaded their
land in the 16th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1968 the Supreme Court case Menominee v. US aided the cause in ruling that states could not
interfere with hunting and fishing rights on the Indians land which had been secured in previous
treaties. In addition, settlements were made in the 1970s that paid damages to tribes whose land had
been illegally seized by whites. However, there were still other issues that needed to be solved during
this time. The most important issues were those of social rights, self autonomy, and cultural freedom.
These were, however, more difficult tasks. Congress played the primary role in these situations
because of its legislature regarding Native American tribes. Public Law 280, passed in August of
1953, gave power to the states to take over civil and criminal jurisdiction. Because of this, the tribes
were at a loss in authority to regulate themselves. In addition, President Lyndon B. Johnson urged for
the termination of Indian programs for self determination during his term in 1968. Despite these
setbacks, legislature was passed that was beneficial to Native Americans. In June of 1924, Congress
granted citizenship to all Native Americans who were not yet citizens. This was a step towards social
equality for all Native

Homeland Security Master Goal
I have held several positions throughout my life. The knowledge and experience that I have acquired
has played an intricate part in molding me into the person I am today. For most of my life I have
always been driven to achieve. I am always setting goals for myself, long and short term and stay
committed to achieving these goals. I feel that you must hold yourself accountable to your
commitments and pursue what drives you. To say that you are going to accomplish something is one
thing, but staying committed and actually achieving the goal is a true testament of perseverance.
Commitment is not just a word, it is a chosen way of life. Sometimes this comes with many sacrifices
and hard work that can only be surmounted by inner drive and ... Show more content on

One of my most important goals is having the knowledge and skill set to make a difference. The
ability to analyze security related problems and develop sound solutions can only be gained through
education and experience. This degree program will provide me the ability to project my thoughts
regarding security concerns with a rationale yet credible solutions that are supported by experience
and knowledge obtained from this higher level of education. The Master s Degree program will
enhance my ability to analyze weaknesses in our national security and develop problem solving skills
that are required to be successful in today s ever evolving security within FPS and the Department of
Homeland Security. The development of the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) that has
established security standards for our government facilities is invaluable. If ISC standards would have
been implemented in the past, many horrific tragedies would not have occurred at our federal
facilities. It is imperative that these standards are improved upon to meet the security demands of the
future. This can only happen through continued education and commitment to enhancing our security.
The completion of this degree program will provide me the necessary skills to improve all aspects of
security not only as a commander within FPS but in all areas of DHS. I will have accomplished my
goal, but more importantly strengthened a nation that relies on keeping one step ahead of a security
breach within our critical

Applying The Free Online Visa Entitlement Verification...
Introduction
As a result of the shortage of registered and enrolled nurses in our facility it is much prudent to source
for skilled health workers migrants to fill the gap. The migrants can lawfully work in Australia under
an array of visas inclusive of the employer sponsored options also known as 457 visa. This means the
skilled migrants to be employed are entitled to the similar basic workplace protections and rights equal
to the Australian workers (Khoo, et al. 2007).
Working Legally In Australia
The organization is bound by the Migration Act 1968, which criminalizes employment of an illegal
worker, or refer an illegal worker to a different organization. The organization must utilize the free
online Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) to verify the visa entitlements and status of a
possible employee. The organization can also contact the Department of Immigration and Border
Protection s for enquiries related to a visa holder s work rights (Phillips Stinks, 2012).
Basic Workplace Rights
The basic workplace rights and protections of all skilled migrants which ought to be met include:
Complying with appropriate Australian standards which ensure workers have proper and legal work
rights, award conditions including Australia s National Employment Standards and workplace laws.
Additionally, the organization must comply with the National Fair Work System, employers
obligations to workers and National Employment Standards (Phillips Stinks, 2012).

The Elegant Universe Personal Statement
Alongside my wider research into physics, I enjoy learning about the history and story of each
discovery and the people behind them. This is what led me to the book Reality Is Not What It
Seems: The Journey to Quantum Gravity . It helped me glimpse into the world of physics, from
Greek philosophers like Democritus, past Newton and calculus, to a future of quantum gravity and
more. Matvei Bronstein has a short, sad but important part of this. this. His story got me interested in
the unification problem as the first person to show that quantum gravity affects space time, causing me
to develop a curiosity about theoretical physics as well the universe at micro and macro levels.

It helped my ability to both work in a on a range of projects, extracting key information from sources

I completed an online course on mathematical code breaking and problem solving. Another aspect of
the week was coding to analyse data. Data analysis has become a key area in physics, I learnt some
coding at GCSE that helped me in this but I wanted to learn how to use python to manipulate, graph

Descriptive Essay About Animals
I was sure that when I first went to the fair, that showing animals was going to be my passion for the
next ten years. It was simple, going to the fair has always been something that I have always loved,
the people, the animals, and the food of course. Then something happened and fair started to get even
more interesting for me. In 2007 I started showing animals at the Clark County Fair, the first year I
started out with a rabbit and a turkey. I always knew I wanted to show animals I loved being around
them, helping with animals any chance I could get, so I knew that when it was my turn I was going to
rock it. I was so excited when I got to go see my turkey and when my rabbits got picked up and
brought to my house. I finally had animals that were mine, it was time to start preparing them for fair.
I would go out every day and change their water, give them feed, and clean their bedding.
I got to the fair my first year, finally this is my time I can show them what I m all about, I start setting
up my turkey pin and my rabbit pin, and I put my animals in their pins. I would come back every
couple hour s and do the same routine, feed, water, and change their bedding. Then came the big day,
it was time for my first show. I was so nervous and excited at the same time, everyone was there
watching me and cheering me on, my dad, mom, and sister. I was entering my first rabbit show, I had
my rabbit in my hand and walked up to the cages and was asked to put my rabbit in the cage, on

Andrew Jackson Democracy
Democratic, Republic? Andrew Jackson s form and thought of democracy was very different from the
democracy the founding fathers originally wanted for our country. The founding fathers wanted a
country mostly ruled by Congress and they didn t want average Americans to have a role in
choosing... [the] president (Reinventing the Presidency). The founding fathers thought of the
presidential branch as being weak and only good for doing what Congress wanted. Andrew Jackson
the seventh president of the united states quickly showed the people how powerful his government
position was by enforcing his right to veto bills Congress passed. Over Jackson s presidential term, he
was a very different president than the founders originally wanted in office, and many people thought
of his presidency as being very democratic. Jackson s term as president may have seemed democratic,
but when you look deeper into his laws and policies you can realize how his term wasn t really that
democratic.
Andrew Jackson wrote a letter to Congress on July 10, 1832, saying the rich and powerful too often
bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes (Doc. F). Jackson is talking about the national
bank in this letter to Congress and it was very well known from his close friends that he had always
been afraid of banks... [and called bankers} vipers and thieves (Shi, Tindall, 324). He thought that the
national bank caused the government to have too much control over the people, but the way

Essay on Friar Lawrence
Friar Lawrence is a character in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet that served as a mentor for
Romeo and Juliet, the two star crossed lovebirds. He served as a mentor and a friend throughout the
entire play, and because of it, his life was forever changed. In the beginning of the story, we meet the
friar and can see that he is a happy go lucky guy, frollicking through the fields and giving advice to
Romeo. However, the friar has to deal with quite a bit more than a two lovestruck teens, and it
changes him for the worse. By the end of Act V, all of the drama that had taken place had taken it s toll

Friar s loving and caring personality. As happens with most people when they carry a load that is too
much for them to bear, Friar Lawrence starts to break emotionally. His light hearted spirit disappeared
after a bloody battle between Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio, resulting in two murders. Romeo wallows
in the floor, moaning about his punishment, banishment, and the Friar has obviously had enough, for
he says, O deadly sin, O rude unthankfulness! Thy fault our law calls death, but the kind prince, taking
thy part, hath rushed aside the law and turned that black word death to banishment. This is dear mercy,
and thou seest it not. (Act III.iii.25 30) The kind spirit in Friar Lawrence has been worn out by the
stupidity of Romeo and it is easily noticeable due to the way that the friar speaks in attempt to get
Romeo to pick himself up off of the floor. Art thou a man? Thy form cries out thou art. Thy tears are
womanish; thy wild acts denote the unreasonable fury of a beast. Unseemingly woman in a seeming

Curstain Yarber ARTH 221 .002 HW #2 The Stele of Naram Sin and Hammurabi s Law Code are both

of the earliest written bodies of law presented on a black basalt stele. Reaching 7 feet tall the Law
Code is 6 inches taller than The Stele of Naram Sin. The Stele of Naram Sin is mainly engraved

they are both fairly muscular. Naram Sin wears lots of weapons, what looks to be shoes, and a small

The Transformation from Traditional Management Systems to...
Executive Summary
Traditional management systems rely on volume to allocate overhead. Indirect cost is allocated to
items such as direct labor hours, units produced or the production of machine hours. Using only single
cost drivers, potentially distorts cost estimates especially when dealing with high volume production.
The implementation of Activity Based Costing serves as a solution to this downside in traditional
systems. ABC utilizes various cost drivers both volume and non volume related to estimate costs,
providing more accurate estimations. Although this method benefits managers in providing the
information needed for decision making and improving efficiency of business processes, it still is only

Bianco (2011) supports the fact that firms within the traditional channel see themselves as independent
businesses that seek the lowest purchase price and increase sales prices to gain higher profits. It
further states that traditional methods result in diseconomies caused by redundancies, usually in the
case of inventories.
The lack of technology in traditional systems does not provide very much coordination with the
supply chain. As a result there is possible delay in delivery of products and services from the supplier
to the customer. Additionally the unavailability or delayed delivery of customer information takes
away from adding value to customers and may in turn decrease profitability and performance.
Advances in information technology have radically changed access to information and in turn the
business landscape, so much so, that the current business era is frequently referred to as the
information age. (Jiambalvo 2007, p. 14). As technology continues to advanced companies are
realizing that in order to keep up the pace in a competitive global market there is a need for change in
the way they conduct business regarding suppliers and customers. Companies are moving towards
systems such as Supply Chain Management and Customer Relationship Management Systems that are
more efficient in processing information and fuel improved operation of the value chain and
interactions with suppliers and

The people who loved Elvis for his charisma and uniqueness felt as though he was pulling away and

nationwide, particularly by the film director Norman Taurog, who saw opportunity in a more

Marco Polo s Influence On Chinese Culture
Chinese culture has remained a true marvel, and often, a mystery, to the outside world since the
beginning of its earliest dynasties. Its value of isolating itself from the rest of the world has defined
and concentrated its unique culture, which now shines starkly against the background of the rest of the
modern world. In some cases, Chinese society holds tightly onto aspects of its culture even when the
rest of the world appears to be moving on. This mindset is demonstrated within the ancient Chinese
lunar calendar and astrology system. Though slightly modernized to fit within the present day, these
systems have rooted themselves deeply into Chinese society from their small scale beginnings and still

Almost 4,000 years later, Marco Polo, a Venetian explorer, documented how he witnessed astrology
dictating the actions of the Chinese people he encountered. In his journals, he described how when a a
child is born, the day, time, planet, and sign is recorded so that if later in life the person wants to make
an important decision, such as begin a journey, they would be able to consult an astrologer to approve
or redirect their actions ( Marco Polo: The Book of Marvels (Ca. 1324) ). In fact, there was so much
respect for astrologers at this time, and such a widespread belief that political happenings were
reflected in the stars, that they were often put into positions of bureaucratic power. Astrology thus
became integrated with government and therefore agriculture ( Astronomical Illustration from Zhou
Dynasty ). Around 100 AD in northern China, a government issued farming calendar was written to be
aligned with the stars, earth, and moon. It instructed farmers what jobs to do and when to do them, like
sowing, harvesting, and preparing through the winter, as well as when to conduct religious ceremonies
(Lai Po 10). Astrologers provided a sense of stability and predictability, which the citizens flocked to,
so the science was able to be deeply rooted within the communities. In China s earliest history, most
aspects of society revolved around the tendencies of the encompassing celestial

The Issue Of Political Participation
Political participation is a right afforded to United States citizens; it is our civic duty to participate and
is ultimately a privilege. The founders believed that it was the newly founded government s
responsibility to protect the basic rights of the people. With those beliefs they made the United States
of America, a two tiered, three branch democracy and therefore the people hold the power to freely
elect who they want to represent them in government. The local representatives, we elect push for
laws of interest to the majority and provide them with the resources that they need. The president
implements and enforces laws that Congress passes. With such social ramifications and power granted
to government representatives it would seem as though nearly everyone should be invested in political
matters and actively engaged in political participation. Among the easiest ways to get involved

Swot Analysis Of Penney. Penney
Analysis of the J.C. Penney Case Analysis The first store of J.C. Penney Company was opened in
Kemmerer, Wyoming, on April 14, 1902, by James Cash Penney. In 1913, the company was
incorporated under the new name, JC Penney Company. JC Penney is one of the largest veteran retail
chain in American which has 110 year old. The highest sales at all time was $32.5 billion and the
company occupies a large share of market in department stores. Then the market changed, the shopper
has spent less time at the mall and more time at the discount store, like Walmart and Target. At the
beginning, JC Penny did not find this problem, since 2005, the sales had been decreased, they loosed a
lot of money. Then JC Penny hired a new CEO, Ron Johnson, discovered this problem and did some
change. The new CEO had made a new strategic plan, and a major price based campaign to revamp JC
Penney s image. In the end, the new strategic plan was not working, it cannot help JC Penney keep the
customer. In this case, we should discuss the JC Penny s new strategic plan, based on price change and
change the company s traditional operation. For the first question, of the major pricing strategies,
which one best describes JC Penney s Fair and Square pricing strategy? The revival of the JC Penney
is the key to a new Fair and Square pricing strategy. At the first, the company cut about 40 percent
across all regular retail prices, and then they make a three tiered pricing

Southern Manifesto Argument Essay
The government can not change the rules if those rules are not in place in the first place. Southern
Manifesto is a very big argument whether or whether not racial segregation was in place in school.
Although it does not state that in the constitution Southern Manifesto was a document published in
1956 and written by Richard Russell Jr., Lyndon B Johnson, and Strom Thurmond. The Southern
Manifesto was a document about the attempt to rebel and push back the Brown vs Board of Edu.
Southern Manifesto s purpose was to have racial segregation in public areas. Brown vs Board of Edu.
states that it is illegal to have racial segregation in school. The argument was very strong because the
constitution does not state anything about education. Because the constitution did not state anything
about education there was not a whole lot that government could do to stop these actions from
happening. In the case, they bring up past cases like Plessy vs Ferguson to help back up their case.
Plessy vs Ferguson, this case was about having segregation laws. The Southern Manifesto used this to
help support their case by looking into the past and looking how it was a good time for them, not
looking how it was an awful time for some other people. In a way if I were to take my bias away from
my view over this case, I could see how people were not feeling the same way ... Show more content

Gang Subcultures Of Gangs
Hence, according to differential opportunity theory, if one is to create gang subcultures of criminal,
conflict, and retreatist; then there must be opportunity, or lack thereof to for one to participate in the
illegitimate structure, which would require the pre existence of gangs (Cloward Ohlin, 1960 in
Williams McShane, 2014, pg. 99 100). It should be noted that Curry and Spergel (1992) found that the
[prior] presence of gang members both males and females are also significant estimators for one to
become involved in a gang (pg. 284). Furthermore, the two strongest factors for individuals to become
involved in gangs was if a family member was already involved in a gang, or being near drug
distributors (Curry Spergel, 1992, pg. 284). Thus, if an individual were to join a gang it is probable
that there: is a prior presence of gangs in their neighbourhood, they have a family member that is in
gang, or the individual is near drug distributors, all of whom who would likely mentor the individual
(Curry Spergel, 1992, pg. 284). While this explains criminal gangs, it does not state if retreatist or
conflict gangs exist. Nevertheless, according to Klien and Maxson (2006), one consequence of gang
participation is drug abuse (retreatist) (as cited in Pitts, 2008, pg. 27). In terms of conflict gangs,
Yablonsky (1962) asserts that gang members are sociopaths, bent upon violence (as cited in Pitts,
2008, pg. 26); however, Christopher Schreck, Jean McGloin, and David Kirk (2009) indicate
otherwise, as they state that conflict subcultures are not solely defined by violence (pg. 789).
Additionally, differential opportunity theory states that a lower class individual will only have access
to illegitimate opportunities, as their SES deprives them of the chance to participate in the legitimate
avenues (Williams McShane, 2014, pg. 99). As stated previously, gang members tend to be poor and
racial minorities (Curry Spergel, 1988, pg. 399); in turn, having access to legitimate opportunities is
unlikely due to economic deprivation. Therefore, for gang members, after they fail or do not have an
opportunity to succeed through legitimate avenues such as employment and education, they resort to
illegitimate means to

Stroke Risk Factors In Nursing
Recently, there has been a surge in reports of TIAs in rare instances such as healthy, young women.
With lack of full understanding as to the reasoning behind this, research found that strokes are not a
geriatric disease as once believed (stroke association.org). Accordingly, Steven J. Kittner, M.D.,
director of the Maryland Stroke Center at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in
Baltimore declares that strokes can affect anyone at any age (2004). Furthermore, he states that
although there are common risk factors, some of the more hidden ones are the most dangerous,
especially for women under 55 (Kittner, 2004). He claims, matching other reports that these hidden

Misrepresentation Black Men
The media s representation on ethical/racial and colonial illustration is not always accurate; there are
many stereotypes and critics always find something to be false. Realism also plays a big role in
representing in what critics believe. (Shothat 178)
The sensitivity around stereotypes and distortions largely arises, then, form the powerlessness of
historically marginalized groups to control their own representation. Since Black people are the
minority, they have no control over how they are represented in the media. As Shothat had mentioned
in his article, In the media there is a tendency to represent Black males as potential delinquents. The
misrepresentation of most Black males, affects them significantly; therefore, since they

Differences Between Europeans And Americans In The...
In his novel The Europeans, Henry James tells the story of an American family that is visited by their
European cousins. James uses these circumstances to depict the differences between Europeans and
Americans. The Americans tend to be frightened of the Europeans, since they seem quite foreign
within the puritanical American community. On the other hand, the Europeans are surprised by the
Americans provincial ways. Reaction to the unfamiliar is a central element of the novel. Each
character s reaction to the unfamiliar reveals his or her personality and also determines whom that
character is capable of tolerating and of loving. Felix, one of the European cousins, and Gertrude, the
younger daughter of the American family, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is during this fantasy that Gertrude first meets Felix. Felix is as open to the unknown as Gertrude,
having traveled around in Europe because he could never stay in one place. He also changes quickly;
instead of thinking of tradition he adapts to whatever culture is around him: Felix, who learned all
things quickly, had already learned that the silences frequently observed among his new acquaintances
were not necessarily restrictive or resentful (34). Gertrude and Felix are both outgoing and do not have
a strong sense of tradition and duty because they would rather change atmospheres than be bound by
the one they presently live in. However, others in the novel do not welcome variation in their lives as
do Gertrude and Felix.
Charlotte and Mr. Brand are both vehemently opposed to change. They like to uphold tradition, and
would rather keep their lives calm than take a risk. Charlotte is always concerned with duty, and thus
takes this attitude when her foreign cousins come to visit. James depicts the situation: It was an
extension of duty, of the exercise of the more recondite virtues; but neither Mr. Wentworth, nor
Charlotte, not Mr. Brand, who, among these excellent people, was a great promoter of reflection and
aspiration, frankly adverted to it as an extension of enjoyment. This function was ultimately assumed
by Gertrude Wentworth (37).

Walter Ruttman
A secondary important figure in defining and examining the absolute film movement within Germany
during the 1920s is Walter Ruttman. Unlike Richter he began as a student of architecture and graphic
design, which shaped his identity as an experimental filmmaker and accounts for the prominence of
shapes and lines within his films. He began his career as filmmaker directly after his release from a
hospital in Berlin for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by his experiences in WW1.
His works are said to be the very first examples of completely abstract film, meaning that they are
composed solely of the arrangement of various forms (geometric and arbitrary) with no outside

In his first two Opus shorts he used the paint on glass technique employing oil paints in different
streaks, curves, blobs and lines of various colors. Unlike Richter s Rhythm 21, Opus I and II
incorporate different colored shapes as well as tints and tones over the lens of the camera which have
been said to evoke a certain mood within the rhythmic movements. What we see is basically a dance
of both these soft arbitrary forms moving around the frame as well as (towards the end of I and
moreso in II) other hard edged triangular shapes that are not quite as organic. Moving through his four
films within the series we can see both a refinement of his technique in addition to new approaches
that seem to have been influenced by Constructivist perspectives. In Opus II he uses a technique
known as kinestasis, which uses movement of the camera to make still figures appear to have motion.
By Opus IV all color has been removed, shapes have lost their organic quality and are only geometric
(as they are in Richter s works) and there is much less evocation of feeling. Instead he shows only the
essential capacity of the camera as a device and uses only light, framing and time as his

Communication Plan For Fortescue Metals Group
. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This communication plan for Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) is
specifically devised to support FMG in engaging with their internal stakeholders. All stakeholders take
part in an important role in the corporation; however by using a strategic approach to internal
communication, a proactive strategy for long term business success with internal employees will be
created. This will ensure a reinforcement of benefits, highlight key elements, and present specific
issues that need to be taken into consideration. Furthermore the process of planning and measurement
of the internal communication strategy will take place. Communicating effectively with stakeholders
is critical to refining productivity within a corporation and generally occurs once the stakeholders
understand the intended message that FMG has specifically constructed tailored to their needs, wants,
facts, etc. This internal communication strategy will deliver a concentrated plan to communicate FMG
s vision; it s mission, values, and goals and clearly communicates why stakeholders are such a huge
mechanism that drives the business. Gaining understanding from FMG s employees will be
communicated most efficiently via formal two way internal communication methods that support
FMGs strategies as well as the consistent messages being conveyed externally. 1.1 The benefits The
objective of this strategy is to promote and nurture a strong interaction within the corporation by

18th Street Gang Case Study
This paper will discuss organized crime and use the case of a youth gang called the 18th Street Gang,
the largest youth gang in the Western Hemisphere, to answer the question: Why do youth join gangs?
The members of the 18th Street Gang have so much power that they were able to control the entire
transportation system in El Salvador (Markham 2015). Members open fired at passengers and drivers,
torched down busses and killed people who were riding in pickup trucks as an alternative way to get
to and from work (Markham 2015).
So what factors lead up this sort of group violence and how are members recruited? This paper will
discuss three factors that contribute to youth joining gangs. Firstly, association with delinquent peers

Studies show that there is a link between parent child bonds and if there is a strong bond between
parents and their child that child is less inclined to engage in delinquent behaviour (Young, Fitzgibbon
and Silverstone 2014). To support this argument, a study done by Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone
(2014) examined levels and trends of delinquency in different types of families such as extended
families, single parent families and the size of the family. Results showed that those who came from
extended families are more likely to join a youth gang versus those who came from smaller families
(Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). Moreover, delinquency rates of those who came from non
traditional homes is 10 15% higher than those from traditional homes (Young, Fitzgibbon and
Silverstone 2014). This shows that in larger families and in families where there is a single parent, the
child is less supervised and therefore, there is a lack of attachment and bonds between family
members. Therefore, youth under these conditions are more likely to join a youth

As Humans, we carry unconscious and hidden biases from a lifetime of exposure to cultural attitudes
about race, ethnicity, religion, social class, sexuality, and nationally. Being a Minority helps me
become more equipped to intuitively understand or recognize issues associated with race. This is
important because I know certain things to say and not to say. I am able to look at things from the
inside out because race issues mostly deal with White non Latino and blacks. Sometimes it s hard for
me to look at it from a White non Latino perspective because they are blind to a situation that I am
aware of. For example, If A White guy says something racist to an minority and acts as if he doesn t
know; It s hard to understand how he did not know what he said was racist. Basically I m bias to
someone else being bias.
To avoid blind spots I must take a step in someone else shoes to see their view point. This is a very
difficult task to do for most but it s the first step in minimizing effects of blind spots. If you can find
out the reason why someone is doing something then maybe you can make the situation better. The
next step in minimizing blind spots is to treat everyone as if we all had the same culture, because we
are all Americans. Most people just forget that everyone is equal just not treated equal.
To avoid bias it is important to remember that we are all humans with feelings, it is important that we

Marketing is an act of promoting and selling products or a service, this also includes marketing

The sales orientation
After the Second World War competition between companies grew and the focus of marketing turned
to selling. They used communication, advertising and branding to compete with other companies.
Companies focussed on distribution, communication and persuading customers that one manufacturer
were better than other. The problem with this type of orientation is that the organisations made a
product which they think the customer needs or likes without the proper research.
The marketing orientation
From the 1960 s onwards there was strong competition for customers. Marketing departments were
relied on to create an intelligent plan to inform an organisation about what they should produce, how
much to charge for a product, where it should be sold, how they should communicated it to
consumers, they do this through research and listening to customers. They attempted to understand
consumer needs or potential needs. Modern marketers are particularly interested in brands as brands
attract customers that stay loyal to the brand. As markets are continuously changing, market research
and product development is an ongoing process for a market orientation company.

During the Mannerist period, architects experimented with using architectural forms to emphasize
solid and spatial relationships. The Renaissance ideal of harmony, gave way to freer and more

During the High Renaissance, architectural concepts derived from classical ancient times were
developed, and used with bigger surety. The most representative architect is Bramante (1444 1514),
who expanded the applicability of classical architecture to contemporary buildings in a style that was
to control Italian architecture in the sixteenth century. During the Mannerist period, however,

Romano was also a highly inventive designer, working for Federico II Gonzaga at Mantua on the

Michelangelo s architectural fame lies chiefly in St Peter s Basilica in Rome. St Peter s was the

  • 2. Blue-Eyed People Genogram This documentary was very informative. One of the several things I learned is how people form perceptions based off what they experience. For example, the children in the third grade class felt they were more superior than other races because of what they had experienced throughout life. When the teacher asked them how they viewed black people, the children responded with hateful comments, this was a result of something they had heard or seen previously. During the experiment, I noticed how immediately the blue eyed children felt some sense of power over the brown eyed people because of what the teacher told them. Then on the next day they brown eyed people felt superior. Not only did both sides experience discrimination, but collectively they learned that discrimination was not right. This was solely because the teacher taught them about discrimination. The scene that I think will stick with me is the scene after all the children had finished the experiment. In the end, the children experienced first hand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the children, it was easy for them to believe anything they were taught because they were so young. Everything Mrs. Elliott told them they believed it and tried to live it in that moment. The blue eyed children thought they were better and acted as if they were better. As the children stated, at the playground the blue eyed children taunted the brown eyed children all because of the labels that were taught to them. With the prison guards, it was a little harder for them to accept the things they were being taught. Whenever a blue eyed person would get irritated with Jane Elliot, the would react in a defensive manner. In return, she used that against them saying that only blue eyed people would act that way. I believe in the moment, for both groups the labels became true. Essentially, it demonstrates how something negative or positive can change a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Assessment of the Native American Experience from... Assessment of the Native American Experience from 1925 1975 Throughout the 1925 1975 period, the Native American population of the United States has faced many obstacles. Just a few years before, they had been suppressed by the federal government s Anti Long Hair policy for all Native American males. This would set the stage for future cultural restraint on the Indians. However, they continued to fight for equality. All through this time period, the experience of the Native American culture has been a struggle for equality in their homeland. A major struggle for the Native population was that of land. This is a primary issue for several reasons. First of all, the Europeans invaded their land in the 16th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1968 the Supreme Court case Menominee v. US aided the cause in ruling that states could not interfere with hunting and fishing rights on the Indians land which had been secured in previous treaties. In addition, settlements were made in the 1970s that paid damages to tribes whose land had been illegally seized by whites. However, there were still other issues that needed to be solved during this time. The most important issues were those of social rights, self autonomy, and cultural freedom. These were, however, more difficult tasks. Congress played the primary role in these situations because of its legislature regarding Native American tribes. Public Law 280, passed in August of 1953, gave power to the states to take over civil and criminal jurisdiction. Because of this, the tribes were at a loss in authority to regulate themselves. In addition, President Lyndon B. Johnson urged for the termination of Indian programs for self determination during his term in 1968. Despite these setbacks, legislature was passed that was beneficial to Native Americans. In June of 1924, Congress granted citizenship to all Native Americans who were not yet citizens. This was a step towards social equality for all Native ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of my most important goals is having the knowledge and skill set to make a difference. The ability to analyze security related problems and develop sound solutions can only be gained through education and experience. This degree program will provide me the ability to project my thoughts regarding security concerns with a rationale yet credible solutions that are supported by experience and knowledge obtained from this higher level of education. The Master s Degree program will enhance my ability to analyze weaknesses in our national security and develop problem solving skills that are required to be successful in today s ever evolving security within FPS and the Department of Homeland Security. The development of the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) that has established security standards for our government facilities is invaluable. If ISC standards would have been implemented in the past, many horrific tragedies would not have occurred at our federal facilities. It is imperative that these standards are improved upon to meet the security demands of the future. This can only happen through continued education and commitment to enhancing our security. The completion of this degree program will provide me the necessary skills to improve all aspects of security not only as a commander within FPS but in all areas of DHS. I will have accomplished my goal, but more importantly strengthened a nation that relies on keeping one step ahead of a security breach within our critical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Descriptive Essay About Animals I was sure that when I first went to the fair, that showing animals was going to be my passion for the next ten years. It was simple, going to the fair has always been something that I have always loved, the people, the animals, and the food of course. Then something happened and fair started to get even more interesting for me. In 2007 I started showing animals at the Clark County Fair, the first year I started out with a rabbit and a turkey. I always knew I wanted to show animals I loved being around them, helping with animals any chance I could get, so I knew that when it was my turn I was going to rock it. I was so excited when I got to go see my turkey and when my rabbits got picked up and brought to my house. I finally had animals that were mine, it was time to start preparing them for fair. I would go out every day and change their water, give them feed, and clean their bedding. I got to the fair my first year, finally this is my time I can show them what I m all about, I start setting up my turkey pin and my rabbit pin, and I put my animals in their pins. I would come back every couple hour s and do the same routine, feed, water, and change their bedding. Then came the big day, it was time for my first show. The founding fathers wanted a country mostly ruled by Congress and they didn t want average Americans to have a role in choosing... [the] president (Reinventing the Presidency). The founding fathers thought of the presidential branch as being weak and only good for doing what Congress wanted. Andrew Jackson the seventh president of the united states quickly showed the people how powerful his government position was by enforcing his right to veto bills Congress passed. Over Jackson s presidential term, he was a very different president than the founders originally wanted in office, and many people thought of his presidency as being very democratic. Jackson s term as president may have seemed democratic, but when you look deeper into his laws and policies you can realize how his term wasn t really that democratic. Andrew Jackson wrote a letter to Congress on July 10, 1832, saying the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes (Doc. F). Jackson is talking about the national bank in this letter to Congress and it was very well known from his close friends that he had always been afraid of banks... (Act II.iii.96 99 101) The desire to make people happy is a manifestation of the Friar s loving and caring personality. As happens with most people when they carry a load that is too much for them to bear, Friar Lawrence starts to break emotionally. His light hearted spirit disappeared after a bloody battle between Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio, resulting in two murders. Romeo wallows in the floor, moaning about his punishment, banishment, and the Friar has obviously had enough, for he says, O deadly sin, O rude unthankfulness! Thy fault our law calls death, but the kind prince, taking thy part, hath rushed aside the law and turned that black word death to banishment. This is dear mercy, and thou seest it not. (Act III.iii.25 30) The kind spirit in Friar Lawrence has been worn out by the stupidity of Romeo and it is easily noticeable due to the way that the friar speaks in attempt to get Romeo to pick himself up off of the floor. Indirect cost is allocated to items such as direct labor hours, units produced or the production of machine hours. Using only single cost drivers, potentially distorts cost estimates especially when dealing with high volume production. The implementation of Activity Based Costing serves as a solution to this downside in traditional systems. ABC utilizes various cost drivers both volume and non volume related to estimate costs, providing more accurate estimations. Bianco (2011) supports the fact that firms within the traditional channel see themselves as independent businesses that seek the lowest purchase price and increase sales prices to gain higher profits. It further states that traditional methods result in diseconomies caused by redundancies, usually in the case of inventories. The lack of technology in traditional systems does not provide very much coordination with the supply chain. As a result there is possible delay in delivery of products and services from the supplier to the customer. Additionally the unavailability or delayed delivery of customer information takes away from adding value to customers and may in turn decrease profitability and performance. Advances in information technology have radically changed access to information and in turn the business landscape, so much so, that the current business era is frequently referred to as the information age. Its value of isolating itself from the rest of the world has defined and concentrated its unique culture, which now shines starkly against the background of the rest of the modern world. In some cases, Chinese society holds tightly onto aspects of its culture even when the rest of the world appears to be moving on. • 19. The Issue Of Political Participation Political participation is a right afforded to United States citizens; it is our civic duty to participate and is ultimately a privilege. The founders believed that it was the newly founded government s responsibility to protect the basic rights of the people. With those beliefs they made the United States of America, a two tiered, three branch democracy and therefore the people hold the power to freely elect who they want to represent them in government. The local representatives, we elect push for laws of interest to the majority and provide them with the resources that they need. The president implements and enforces laws that Congress passes. With such social ramifications and power granted to government representatives it would seem as though nearly everyone should be invested in political matters and actively engaged in political participation. Among the easiest ways to get involved politically is through the voting process and elections, others are symbolic participation, civil society participation, protesting, marching, contacting public officials, being part of election campaigns and even running for office. While voting is among the easiest ways to be a part of this democracy, the turnout is low. The right to vote has opened up to a larger number of people through legislation, but still the turnout rate is low. • 22. Gang Subcultures Of Gangs Hence, according to differential opportunity theory, if one is to create gang subcultures of criminal, conflict, and retreatist; then there must be opportunity, or lack thereof to for one to participate in the illegitimate structure, which would require the pre existence of gangs (Cloward Ohlin, 1960 in Williams McShane, 2014, pg. 99 100). It should be noted that Curry and Spergel (1992) found that the [prior] presence of gang members both males and females are also significant estimators for one to become involved in a gang (pg. 284). Furthermore, the two strongest factors for individuals to become involved in gangs was if a family member was already involved in a gang, or being near drug distributors (Curry Spergel, 1992, pg. 284). Thus, if an individual were to join a gang it is probable that there: is a prior presence of gangs in their neighbourhood, they have a family member that is in gang, or the individual is near drug distributors, all of whom who would likely mentor the individual (Curry Spergel, 1992, pg. 284). While this explains criminal gangs, it does not state if retreatist or conflict gangs exist. Nevertheless, according to Klien and Maxson (2006), one consequence of gang participation is drug abuse (retreatist) (as cited in Pitts, 2008, pg. 27). In terms of conflict gangs, Yablonsky (1962) asserts that gang members are sociopaths, bent upon violence (as cited in Pitts, 2008, pg. 26); however, Christopher Schreck, Jean McGloin, and David Kirk (2009) indicate otherwise, as they state that conflict subcultures are not solely defined by violence (pg. 789). Additionally, differential opportunity theory states that a lower class individual will only have access to illegitimate opportunities, as their SES deprives them of the chance to participate in the legitimate avenues (Williams McShane, 2014, pg. 99). As stated previously, gang members tend to be poor and racial minorities (Curry Spergel, 1988, pg. 399); in turn, having access to legitimate opportunities is unlikely due to economic deprivation. Therefore, for gang members, after they fail or do not have an opportunity to succeed through legitimate avenues such as employment and education, they resort to illegitimate means to ... They used communication, advertising and branding to compete with other companies. • 34. Marcus Aurelius, Rome s Greastest Emperor Essay examples Who is Marcus Aurelius? What did he do to make his mark in the pages of history? Why did the people of Rome respect and admire him? To the common person, Marcus was just a man who was an emperor of Rome and just another person who helped shaped this world. Marcus Aurelius was more than that! Anthony Birley writes, The acquaintance of a man like Marcus Aurelius is an imperishable benefit. The character of Marcus Aurelius is truly special, but was molded by many important people and figures in his life. With the absence of honor and duty in Rome, influences such as Junius Rusticus, a book called The Discourses of Epictetus , and the Roman Emperor Hadrian, led Marcus Aurelius to become one of the most important stoics and one of ... Marcus writes: I am at present fascinated by the books of Aristo the Stoic and at the same time disconcerted; when they show how far my mind falls behind those better minds your pupil blushes very hot and is cross with himself because after 25 years he has not drunk deeply of the springs of good opinion and purer reason. And so I pay the penalty, am angry, sad, I go without food. In the bonds of these cares I have put off till tomorrow my task of writing for you every day. But now I bethink me of an Attic speaker s advice to the Athenian assembly sometimes to let the laws slumber. Accordingly I will let Aristo sleep peacefully for a little, and turn me heart and soul to your dramatic poet, first, however, reading some short speeches of Cicero. But at for writing I will do that either on one side of the other, for from today Aristo will never sleep so soundly as to allow me to advocate both sides in the same matter. • 35. Dallas Cowboys History Who are the top linebackers in Dallas Cowboys history? Football is a game that s ultimately won at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Dallas Cowboys currently have 12 players who ve been enshrined out of their 14 overall members in the Hall. 8 have made it on offense, 4 have made it on defense, and though getting after the quarterback starts from the D lineman, the Cowboys have had a few second level defenders at linebacker that impacted their defense to triumph. As we continue our best ever in Cowboys history series, the honorable mentions such as Thomas Hollywood Henderson, Dexter Coakley, Ken Norton Jr. and Eugene Lockhart come to mind, but in my overall examination, three players standout most who left their hard work and dedication on the field, narrowing down my top list to the best 3 linebackers to play for the Dallas Cowboys. 3) OLB, DeMarcus Ware: The 6 foot 4, 258 pound sack machine is still recording double digit sacks at age 32. Ware, a versatile hybrid type, who was projected to be a DE/OLB out of Troy University, has excelled his game as one of the best QB Hunters on the perimeter. The Renaissance ideal of harmony, gave way to freer and more imaginative rhythms. The most representative architect is Bramante (1444 1514), who expanded the applicability of classical architecture to contemporary buildings in a style that was to control Italian architecture in the sixteenth century. Romano was also a highly inventive designer, working for Federico II Gonzaga at Mantua on the Palazzo Te (1524 1534), a project which combined his skills as architect, sculptor, and painter. In this work, which integrated garden grottoes and extensive frescoes, he uses illusionistic effects, surprising combinations of architectural form and texture, and the frequent use of features that seem somewhat unbalanced or out of alignment. Michelangelo s architectural fame lies chiefly in St Peter s Basilica in Rome. St Peter s was the greatest creation of the Renaissance, and a great number of architects contributed their skills to it. But at its conclusion there was more of Michelangelo s design than of any other architect. When he took over the project in 1546 Michelangelo integrated Bramante s Greek cross plan and redesigned the piers, the walls, and the dome, giving the lower weight bearing members huge proportions and eliminating the encircling aisles from the chancel and identical transept arms. Michelangelo s dome was a masterpiece of design using two masonry shells, one within the other and crowned by a massive lantern supported, as at Florence on ribs .For the exterior of the building, he designed a giant order which defines every external bay.
